IIDA Advocacy Group Analysis
Monday night was the first meeting of IIDA advocacy group of the year. The
group consisted of eleven people total. We had four students including myself who
attended the meeting. The professional members jobs array from working as a

The federalists wanted the Constitution to provide necessary framework and
boundaries so that people could pursue their life, liberty, and property without hurting

I was raised in the 50 s. My parents came from Europe after the war in 1948 and
began a new life with just the clothes on their back. They had some family here and
every holiday, birthday, and just some weekends in between we would get together.
By the 70 s in was already gradually starting to shift as high schoolseniors were
heading off all over the country expanding their horizons as they embarked on college
life. After college students embarked on new adventures stating their careers away

Separation of Powers is a system in which power is divided between three
branches of government. These branches consist of Legislative (Congress),
Executive (President), and Judiciary (Supreme Court). Each one of the branches is
given a duty to fulfill. If one branch doesn t fulfill its duties, the other branches can
force that branch to fulfill it. There is another system that helps these branches of
government to check on each other and limit each other s powers. It is called
Checks and Balances. It helps each branch to limit the power of the other. Each
branch has specific duties. The Legislative branch is made to create or repeal laws.
The Executive branch executes and enforces the law and the Judiciary branch
interprets the laws. The Separation of Powers prevents the power going to one
branch. The system prevents the abuse of the power given to each of the branches.
The system was used to limit the power of one branch for a reason, now it is used to
make obstacles for bills that will help the citizens of this country.

Doney who advocates a solution to the Cartesian Circle called the Memory
Gambit. Doney s analysis reveals that Descartes says that if I remember clearly

According to the Humane Society of the United States, there was a South Carolina
puppy mill that consisted of hundreds of puppies that were living in harmful
conditions with no food or water, many of them were closed up in a small cages,
and some had illnesses. Their fur was matted and the animals were sick because
they were not taken care of properly (Animal Abuse). Once all the animals were
rescued, they were relocated into animal shelters in hopes of regaining their
strength and getting adopted. Animal abuse is illegal in all fifty states because of

Most Americans believe that all human beings deserve freedom and basic human
rights. As the United States of America is commonly called the land of the free,
most American presidents have strived to preserve the freedom of American citizens,
but in different ways. While many people around the world still struggle for freedom
and rights, U.S. presidents have contributed to and addressed the movement towards
world peace differently. Two presidents that focused on the preservation of freedom
were Franklin Roosevelt and John Kennedy. The Four Freedoms speech by Roosevelt
and Kennedy s Inaugural Address both discuss freedom, but they contrast in historical
context, the use of the word freedom and purpose.
To start, despite the fact that both presidents are delivering their speeches during

1961. Throughout his Four Freedoms speech, Roosevelt attempts to persuade the
U.S. to join the war to aid other democracies in the fight for freedom, before
ultimately being forced into war by a surprise assault. Roosevelt used an
emotional appeal to the American people by stating the democratic way of life is
at this moment being directly assailed in every part of the world . . . by those who
seek to destroy unity and promote discord in nations that are still at peace
(paragraph 12). With this statement, Roosevelt puts the war into perspective for
Americans by showing democracies, like their own, were being attacked. He
explained that if America does not join the war, life as the American people know
it will drastically change. Kennedy s Inaugural Address is similar to Roosevelt s

Emily Murphy was a Canadian women s rights activist, jurist, and author. She is best
known for contributions to Canadian feminism, specifically the question of whether
women were persons under law. She is one of the strongest women in canadian
history.
In one case, the women were asked to leave the courtroom on the claims that the
statement was not fit for mixed company . This outcome was unacceptable to
Murphy and she protested to the provincial Attorney General. If the evidence is not
fit to be heard in mixed company, she argued, then the government must set up a

became the first woman police magistrate for the British Empire. Her appointment as

However, during her first case on 1 July, 1916, the defendant s lawyer protested
that Murphy s guilty verdict was invalid because Murphy was a women and
therefore, under the BNA act of 1867, was not a legal person. Because of this legal
challenge, Murphy began a long campaign to have women classified as persons
and the archaic 1867 law overturned. She allowed her name to be put forward as a
candidate for the Senate, however, it was turned down by Prime Minister Robert
Borden because the BNA act did not recognise women as persons. Motivated by
these anachronism, she found that one way to challenge a law was to present a
submission from five interested parties to the Canadian Supreme Court. These
