Spartan Cultural Beliefs
Cultural Beliefs Sparta is known in history as a powerhouse of militaristic power in Ancient Greece.
In those times, Sparta was a constant in everyone s mind, being included in almost anything to do with
the topic of war. Raised from the notation that warfare is the complete center of life, it found its way
into the culture of the Spartan people inevitably. Spartan people had the mindset that they as a whole
collectively needed to be ready for battle, and this differed from the Athenian mindset, causing both to
become very much the enemies of each other. Sparta s cultural beliefs contributed to their rise to
power due to their cultural values and education.

Both had very different ways of bringing up their children, and had differing traditions, and ways of
life. Spartan people were very much shown to be unlike people of Athens. Encyclopædia Britannica
stated Unlike the boys of Athens, they spent little time learning music and literature. Instead they were
drilled each day in gymnastics and military exercises. There were distinguishing parts in their youth
that would lead them into adulthood with the same principles as their elders, with the same culture
they ve adopted. This toughness displayed and detachment to things even as small as food, as The
food at the common table was designed to fill a person and keep him alive, but nothing more (Asimov
52) contributed to their beliefs and traditional ways of being immersed in war culture. The Spartans
followed the Spartan code, which ... was to fight hard, follow orders without questions, and to die
rather than retreat or surrender (Asimov 52). This is shown even in a tale about a Spartan boy who

The Importance Of The Normandy Invasion
June 6, 1944. The world has been at war for almost 5 years. The Axis Powers have occupied France
and a lot of Europe. The USSR is pushing the Germans out of Russia and back towards Germany. The
Allies are preparing to invade and take back Europe and defeat the Axis. The invasion starts with a
mix of British and American paratroopers being dropped behind enemy lines to take important and
over 100,00 soldiers are preparing to launch one of the largest sea invasions of all time. The soldiers
are a mix of British, Canadian, and United States origin. The 5 beaches being attacked are codenamed
Utah, Gold, Sword, Juno, and Omaha. In the end, the invasion as a whole turned out to be a success on
every beach. There were many reasons for this success, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a very long stretch of beach near the Cherbourg peninsula, bordered by Utah Beach and Gold
Beach. The 1st and 29th American infantry divisions landed here on June 6, 1944 at approximately
6.30 A.M. The landscape of the beach and surrounding area made it easy to defend, but very difficult
to attack. Facing the shore were large cliffs with multiple machine gun emplacements and bunkers
looking down towards it. Between the bunkers was barely any cover for the soldiers. This brings up
the question: Why did the Allies attack it? There are many reasons. First, the Allies needed a way to
link up Utah to Gold and the rest of the British sector. Utah was needed for the capture of Cherbourg,
and Gold was needed to put the Mulberry harbor in place. If these did not get linked to each other, the
soldiers on each front wouldn t be able to communicate effectively. Second, the Allied needed to make
sure the Germans couldn t regroup and counterattack. A counterattack at that stage would be terrible
for the Allies because they had not landed much supplies yet and had sustained a lot of casualties.
Taking Omaha would prevent this from happening. Finally, Omaha covered the most land. This was
essential for capturing the most possible towns, cities, and communication hubs. In spite of all the
difficulties, the Allies took the cliffs at around 10 A.M. Over the course of these 4 hours, the General
of the Army Omar

The City Of Chicago, A New City Block And Towering Three...
Duality
Sprawling an entire city block and towering three stories above Englewood, a thriving suburb just
south of Chicago, sat a building that would come to be known as the Murder Castle . Constructed
during the gilded age of America, in an atmosphere of booming financial success that was bursting
with real estate development, job seekers, tycoons, and self made millionaires who were held in high
esteem. The city of Chicago still bustling from rebuilding after the great fire of 1871, became a torrent
of vigor in preparation of the 1893 Columbian Exposition, World s Fair. More than twenty six million
people from around the world were flooding Chicago. This was a perfect atmosphere to construct a
building for which the entire world would come to know.
It was 1886 when H.H. Holmes, who was formally known as Herman Webster Mudgett came to the
city of Chicago. Throughout his lifetime Holmes had several other aliases that he used to elude
numerous creditors and former acquaintances he feared would step forward with accusations of fraud,
poisoning and murder, so deciding he would change his identity now going by Henry Howard
Holmes. But, to the rest of the world he would forever become H.H. Holmes, torcher doctor, monster
of 63rd street, America s first serial killer.
With the monumental World s Fair attracting millions of people this was a perfect opportunity for
H.H. Holmes to live out his nefarious dreams for which he could implement the demented design of

William Butler Yeats The Second Coming
In William Butler Yeats The Second Coming, the poet makes phrases such as; the best lack of
conviction of stony sleep (19) and the falcon cannot hear the falconer (2). The phrases are useful in
suggesting various thematic concerns of the poem as well asserting separation of ideas and events that
occur during the time when Yeats is writing his work. Different interpretations of the stanzas may
bring a connection of the antagonism of people and events that Yeats foresees. For instance, the falcon
separates from the falconer, the lion having the head of a human being (sphinx) and things falling
apart indicate contradicting forces that work to build history at the time. The analysis of the poem is
on the basis of contradicting forces that separate modernity from the ancient world. Yeats introduces
the poem by referring to a falcon that flies away from the falconer who happens to release it.
Shockingly, the falcon cannot hear its master but it continues wheeling at far distance from the
falconer. The separation between the falcon and the falconer presents a metaphorical incidence that is
worth to interpret. For instance, it is possible that the disassociation represent the young ones, acting
as falcons, and separate themselves from the old order of the society. Notably, the modern children
may be adopting new societal principles different from the ones that their parents and grandparents
prescribe during the Yeats time. Such societal engagements may touch on music, new

Technology in Computer Forensics
Throughout the length of this paper, I am going to be discussing the topic of computer forensics.
Computer forensics involves carefully collecting and examining electronic evidence that not only
evaluates the damage to a computer as a result of an electronic assault, but also to recuperate lost
information from a system to prosecute a criminal in a court of law. Since security is such an
important factor in technology, it is crucial for any type of computer professionals to understand the
aspects of computer forensics. Seeing that technology is such a major part of everyone s lives,
computer forensics can play an significant role in any investigation now a days. People uses electrical
devices to communicate, record information, This paper looks to provide simple information with
respect to the core technologies used in computer forensics. Subjects covered include the recovery of
deleted data, the value of memory forensics, techniques for recovering and analyzing data from
volatile memory, and intrusions of attackers and tracking them. Computer forensics is the
investigation of computer devices to gather and preserve certain information that can be utilized in a
court of law for prosecution. The goal of computer forensics is to bring out a structured investigation
while documenting evidence to find out precisely what happened on a computing device and who was
accountable for it. Computer forensic investigators take three steps when investigating; acquiring

Fear, Guilt, and Regret in Macbeth by William Shakespeare
In William Shakespeare s Macbeth the reader watches as Macbeth changes gradually as the play
endures. He are transforms from a loyal person with a loving and loyal disposition with other people,
into a tyrants who are willing to kill in order to keep himself on the throne. He is tormented with fear,
regret, and guilt. When someone does something they know is wrong it causes them to fall prey to
their own emotions. After Duncan s death you are able to see how the characters involved in the
murder almost instantly experience feelings of regret. There is a scene where Macbeth is in shock so
greatly after murdering Duncan, that he forgets to leave the murder weapon behind. When confronted
by Lady Macbeth(who says he needs to go return the weapons) he says, I ll go no more: / I am afraid
to think what I have done; / Look on t again I dare not ( 2.2 53 55). This allows us to see how Macbeth
is pained by what he has done. Macbeth also says he heard a voice say Glamis hath murdered sleep,
and therefore Cawdor shall sleep no more. Macbeth shall sleep no more. ( 2.2 46 48). When Macbeth
says this he is saying that he has not only murdered Duncan, but he has murdered sleep. He is saying
he won t be able to sleep after what he has just done because he will regret it forever and it will haunt
him. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are interrupted by knocking on the door and as Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth walk away he says, Wake Duncan with thy knocking; I would though couldst. ( 2.2 78 79).

Calvin Johnson Research Paper
Calvin Johnson has been the best wide receivers in the NFL in his whole career being 6 5 240 he is the
toughest receiver to cover and his stats prove it. As seen in the picture from CBS sports. In 2012 he
had 1,964 yards which is the most ever in a season in the entire history of the NFL and with his stats
not dropping that much a lot of people thought he still has a lot of time left to make an impact in his
career. Except he announced a couple weeks ago saying that he was retiring at only age 30. Many
people have there opinions on why he is retiring although he has not completely said why he is
retiring. Granted, retiring at younger ages is becoming more popular in the NFL but there has never
been a player of Calvin s caliber to retire early. Many experts say that he is retiring just because of
how much he got hit during his career, being the only good wide receiver in detroit for half of his
career. Many of his teammates have spoken on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion I feel that Calvin could still play maybe one more year. Just because he doesn t have an
team wins like a super bowl although that probably won t happen with the Lions i feel that he should
give him one last effort. When I interviewed my father and he said I respect Calvins decision because
he s looking ahead in life because life isn t just about football this is a good point because Johnson has
been hurt every season he s played with just minor injuries keeping him out 2 or 3 games a season. To
sum up Calvin Johnson is one of the greatest football players to ever play in the NFL along with Jerry
Rice. Many people have their own feelings on Calvin s retirement from his teammates to random
people in the world like my dad and I. In conclusion hopefully Johnson will come back for a couple
more years or even one but if he doesn t he will still be one of the greatest of all time to play

Learning English As A Foreign Language
Introduction This essay will try to explain through the use of research why and how people learn
English as a foreign language. Brian Munoz is an example of a student learning English as a foreign
language. He was born in Mexico and his first language is Spanish. As well as studying English he has
also studied French. Brian has an interest in learning languages and wishes to one day be able to travel
to the countries where those languages are spoken. Brian would first like to visit the united states in
order to completely immerse himself in English. There are five members of his family, himself, his
parents and his siblings.
Motivation
Brian is both intrinsically and extrinsically motivated to learn English. In an interview he stressed that
he thinks English will be necessary in university in order for him to obtain a degree. Brian also stated
that he wishes to use his English skills in the future in order to obtain a better job. An intrinsic reason
is that Brian has two cousins who speak English that he would like to be able to talk to (Harmer; 2007,
pp. 98 104).
Learning Style Brian has a highly logical mathematical intelligence. This suggests he is a highly
analytical and scientific thinker (Oxford; 2001, pp. 359 366). Brian s style of learning can be
particularly well suited to learning grammar and other pattern based aspects of language. He finds
when the teacher gives the students a set formula to grammar learning very easy.
Teaching Method The Comprehension Based Approach will be best suited for Brian. Brian has stated
that he struggles the most with listening comprehension, and this approach emphasizes listening and
comprehension (Sauvignon; 2001, pp. 13 28).
Student Needs Brian would like to improve his English fluency, especially when listening to spoken
English. He is confident in his abilities in other areas such as grammar. A one on one lesson will be
designed to help Brian achieve his goals, and strengthen his weaknesses.
Language Skills Brian s weak points are in the listening and reading language skills. Brian finds
listening activities in his IMAC class to be difficult for him to understand. He has trouble paying
attention to the

December 1968, two bodies of young teenagers were found at San Francisco Bay. The teenagers were
one female and one male between the ages 16 and 17. They were found dead outside of their car when
the crime scene unit arrived on the scene they examined the vehicle as well as the vicinity. All to no

been left untouched. Basically according to investigators the couple were victims of opportunity. Six

How Change Is Important For The Workplace
My initial reactions to change in the workplace is, how will this affect me and does it offer me growth
here at the company . Previously, in my professional career I have experienced change as an employee
thereby having the role to accept and apply the changes. I have yet to have the role of implement or
creating changes in a company. For me change is necessary and a refreshing modification in a
workplace. I have always welcomed changed both in my professional career as well as my personal

of the two and make a change. Change is important for growth to me. Change allows me to see other

Therefore, I take the time to read memos, speak with management, and ask questions to better
understand the changes. I process changes by first understanding what is changing and what that
means for the company. For me understanding the overall benefit is important so I can have a positive
perception of the company s goals and vision. Next I evaluate if the changes will affect my job role or
me personally. If I am going to be affected, then I need to ensure I can meet the new expectations and
see if there is growth potential still. I believe change should be productive for all employees whether
directly or indirectly (Lussier, 2015). Changes happen at all levels of the company s pyramid and
some changes may take time where other may happen faster, either way change is essential for
company growth and competitive advantage in the market (Lussier, 2015).
With change comes challenges and those challenges usually scared people and make them resistant to
change. Change is uncomfortable to many people because it makes them feel vulnerable regarding
being in control and uncertain about their future (Lussier, 2015). Change can interfere with people s
autonomy and lead people wondering and assuming the worst. The challenges change brings is not
only for the employees but for management. Management has the challenge of trying to get the
employees to buy in to the changes and

Ballet Male Gaze
Under the male gaze, the female body will always be sexualized no matter what choreography she is
executing, how she is dressed or what she says. This occurs because the male gaze is driven by sexual
anxiety (Schultz, 368). This means that a male feels the need to look at a woman as an object in order
to make her difference and the mystery that surrounds her seems rational in his mind. I pose the
following question, Why does this matter to my argument and to ballet? The male gaze has been
instituted within the audience and within society that art must be viewed in a certain way. The male
gaze has told viewers to believe that the ballerina is being manipulated by the male. The male gaze has

Aurum Prep
Statement of Purpose
What is it that enables a trajectory changing education? At Building Excellent Schools, the answer is
rooted in sound and relentless execution on all the core fundamentals of running a school, i.e. the
academic program, school culture, and operations. At Educate78, the answer is rooted in designing a
school experience for students that is authentic to a particular community and also allows for deeper
learning. As a lead petitioner in the process of founding a school and a fellow of each of these
organizations I have been fortunate enough to observe and learn from both viewpoints. I have come to
an understanding that both are true and not mutually exclusive. My goal is to soundly integrate the

If we can execute on the mission of Aurum Prep, we will be a proof point for schools that help
students gain a deep understanding of themselves, their communities, and how to create a better
society. To build the foundation for this, we have already worked intently with families and
community members to understand what it is they want for their children upon graduation. After
hundreds of conversations, we know that the Oakland community seeks an interdisciplinary, identity
based curriculum to help students define who they are for themselves. In response, we have crafted
each year of our middle school to help our students to address fundamental questions like who am I?
Who are we (as a community)? Who am I becoming? We have developed the initial framework and
scope for the projects our students would complete, including engaging in a genealogy/ancestry
project and ultimately writing their own self determined autobiographies. I believe it would be
incredibly powerful to learn from High Tech High s project based learning approach to we continue to
design these learning experiences. Engaging in the Graduate School of Education would help us to
more fully flesh out critical aspects of our model like these.
The Graduate School of Education is committed to developing reflective practitioner leaders who are
working with colleagues and communities to create and sustain innovative, authentic, and rigorous
learning environments. I am a leader who is seeking to design a school that is committed to ensuring
equity for all children in East Oakland. While I have experience in the school design process, being
part of the GSE would ensure that our team is able to implement the aspects of our school design that

1. What is the current status of Mondavi s external environment? Generally, what are the primary
industry wide sources of competitive advantage? Which ones matter to Mondavi? Why?
I apply Porter s Five Forces to analyst the current status of Mondavi s external environment as follows
(Grant, page 69):
1. Industry Rivalry:
There are many competitors in this industry, but the main competitor of the company is Gallo because
its product takes some part of the market share from Woodbridge which is the main source of revenue

changed to off premise because people started buying wine from supermarkets and wholesaler clubs
(Roberto, exhibit 11). This change leads to the more price sensitivity because the consumers had more
chance to compare a price before making a decision to buy bottles of wine. Therefore, the bargaining
power s customer is dramatically increased.
There are two sources of the industry wide of competitive advantage, including cost advantage and
differentiation advantage (Grant, paage178). From my analysis, Mondavi can apply both sources to
use with its products, but it should use one competitive advantage at a time. For instance, according to
exhibit 4 in Jug and pop pre segments, Woodbridge should be applied to the cost advantage because
the price competition in this type of wine was very aggressive at that time. Thus, the company has to
reduce costs to compete with other competitors. However, referring to exhibit 4 in luxury prem
segment, the company should apply the differentiation advantage for Robert Mondavi (RM)Winery
and RM Coastal Private Selection because these two brands target the high end customers caring for
the quality rather than the price. According to the Porter s generic strategies (Grant, page 178), the
company does not in the scope of a single segment; therefore, the industry wide method would be a
suitable one for the company. For this reason, the company has to separate the brands of wine before

Symbolism In Bless Me Ultima
Rudolfo Anaya s novel, Bless Me, Ultima, depicts the struggle of a young boy, Antonio, to find his
path in life. As he tries to understand events of his waking hours, his dreams haunt his
unconsciousness. Through the interpretation of the symbolism of Antonio s dreams, the reader
develops a deeper understanding of Antonio s struggles. Throughout the novel, Antonio is learning
that Ultima s owl is also his protector. Its song seemed to say that it had come to watch over us, (13).
The song, Ultima s owl sings throughout each night, symbolizes Ultima s comforting presence in
Antonio s life and the protective power of her magic. Also, like Ultima, the owl is like a healer to
Antonio, when it sings through the night. The owl had always been there. It sang to me the night my
brothers came home from the war, and in my dreams I sometimes saw it guiding their footsteps as
they stumbled through the dark streets of their distant cities, (272). Throughout the novel, the owl of
Ultima is not only Ultima s protector, but it is also Antonio s protector. Also, in Antonio s mind as
well, he could see it as a guiding spirit, because it provided a sense of hope and longing. All in all,
Antonio sees Ultima s owl as a protector and comforting presence throughout the novel.
The golden carp symbolizes the pagan religion which ties into christianity. At the river, Cico is talking
to Antonio and exclaims, When the gods had turned the people into carp, the one kind god who loved

Free Will In Pilgrim s Slaughterhouse Five
An old Greek man named Democritus sits down on a moist log in the year 400 BC to think about his
actions: not just his actions, but the actions of everyone around him. It has been troubling him for a
while: why does he do them? Does he have free will? Little did he know that philosophers from all
over the world and all different time periods would be wondering the same question as him: are our
actions a choice, or are they written in stone? Billy Pilgrim, the subject of the book Slaughterhouse
Five, by Kurt Vonnegut, claims that he believes that free will does not exist and repeats the words so it
goes whenever someone dies, but he may actually believe that free will exists because he cries when
he sees horses that are in pain, and he fails to explain what exactly chooses when he jumps in time. ...

exist, otherwise, there would be no way to know the future for certain. Billy also could have adopted
the idea of free will because he feels lucky that everyone was killed but Billy and the copilot when a
plane Billy was on crashed. He feels guilty for the deaths of the others and takes that guilt off of his
own shoulders by believing in free will. Billy later goes back in time to his childhood when he was
only a 12 year old boy. If free will exists, he does not have to wet his pants or be scared of the ceiling
[falling] in the Caverns, but still does. Instead, Billy does the exact same things as he did the first time
experiencing this, because he does not (or at least believes he does not) have free

Spoon River Anthology Poem
With happiness in relationships continuing to decline as well at the rate of divorces rising it is no
surprise that marriage and love has lost the value it once had. Edgar Lee Masters writer of the Spoon
River Anthology also seems to feel that romantic relationships have also lost its value during his time.
He is able to display this though several of his poems within the anthology. His unhappiness with love,
romance, relationships and marriage are shown through his poems that illustrate unhappy marriages as
well as the deaths connected to them.
Edgar Lee Masters uses the poem of Amanda Barker in order to show his own views of relationships.
Amanda Barker s relationship with her husband was without love and full of hate. The Townspeople

The State Of The United States
In the exception of the third world countries, a lot of us today have lived in a world of security, peace
and freedom. The roads are perfectly built and organized, endless skyscrapers that reached for the
skies are greatly regulated and controlled. Security are provided for us in terms of local polices, the
FBI, and the courts that ensure each and every one of us are innocent until proven guilty. Yet, many of
us have taken that for granted. We did not realize how much we have relied on legal and organized
rules, or how much we benefited from private rights or property rights. Imagined all of that taken
away, when people can simply do away with others, without a hint of human rights. The world then
becomes much more horrifying, as there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each of them began to compete for powers to rule over their subjects. The greater authority would be
the territorial rulers, which was the Kings, Princes, Queens, or Dukes that became the focal point of
decision making in the territory. The territorial rulers wanted to defend their territory, and so, they
needed more revenues to fund for wars. Moreover, wars were crucial in that period, as they were
becoming bigger and more expensive. The only way that territorial rulers could gain revenue was from
its subjects such as the towns, villages, churches, or aristocrats (Lecture 2). It was almost impossible
use coercion and forced the elites to pay. This way was not efficient, and was prone to greater revolts
and resistance. Hence, the only ideal way was to come up with a bargain. The bargain may involve
giving benefits such as permanent taxations, better security and welfare to the elites, so that they may
give up their powers. The rulers were not able to fight efficient wars if the subjects were not willing to
support them. Moreover, the aristocrats rule over a huge chunk of the military fights, which make it
difficult for rulers to control the war, if the military subjects were mainly controlled by the elites.
Each of the elites possesses different powers and comparative advantages. It is inevitable that a lot of

The History Of Beached Whales
A whale was stranded on a Christchurch beach in 2009. It died, despite the desperate attempts to
revive the mammal and assist it back into the water. Many residents of Southshore beach tried to keep
the whale hydrated and and attempt to push the animal back to sea.Whaling began in the 11th century,
when the Basques started hunting and trading products from the North Atlantic right whale (now one
of the most endangered species of great whale). They were followed first by the Dutch and British,
and later by the Americans, Norwegians and many other nations. Australia had a commercial Whaling
industry until 1978. Japanese whaled mainly for humpback, right and grey whales, developed
separately in small coastal communities. From the late nineteenth century onwards, advancements in
technology, such as steam powered boats and the harpoon gun, enabled Whalers to target more species
with greater accuracy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cost, Quality, And Timing
Tendering
In this stage the project contract including all details about cost, quality, and timing is presented and
usually several contractors make an offer. Then a contractor (or more than a contractor based on
project requirements) is selected to accomplish the site construction. Usually the cheapest offer wins;
of course there might be considerations of quality.
Construction
The contractor that has been appointed to carry out the site work now will be called as the constructor,
and starts to complete the building on the specified time and within the approved time and quality
limits. Adequate supervision is necessary in this stage so that the defined quality standards as well as
legal requirement are met.
Commissioning
In the Commissioning stage the constructed building is inspected for probable errors or deficits from
the agreed contractual or legal requirements. It is checked whether all facilities are working properly
and facilities and systems meet defined objectives and criteria. If there are any repairs or fixings
essential they will be carried out in this stage.
Operation and Maintenance
Facilities and buildings operations and maintenance covers all services required to guarantee the built
construction is performing well. All the constructions may not have this stage. This stage is especially
for sensitive and/or complex constructions such as power plants. Operations and maintenance
normally includes the day to day activities necessary

The Value Of The Credits
The credits are not provided in a lump sum but instead are claimed in equal amounts over a 10 year
credit period (many projects claim credits over 11 years, due to the rules governing how many credits
can be claimed in the first year of the credit period). Thus, the $70,000 of annual credits described in
the illustration will yield a total of $700,000 of credits over the credit period. Three examples of
LIHTC properties in Chicago are Jade Gardens, East Park SRO, and Riverside. Jade Garden is three 3
story apartment buildings with a total of 72 units that was placed in service in 1996. The project cost
about $7.4 million and received $2.7 million in tax credits allocated at about $500,000 per year. The
project received $.54 in tax credits per every dollar used in the project. East Park SRO cost about $7.1
million and has 152 units that were placed in service in 1995. This project received $2.9 million in tax
credits which is about $.53 on every dollar. Lastly, Riverside has 258 units and was put in service in
2007. This project cost about $33.7 million and received about $11.3 million in tax credits which is
$.94 on every dollar. These projects are examples of how tax credits are encouraging developers to
create housing for low income families. These homes are very modern and blend easily with the
surrounding communities. Future studies should compare military housing model and public housing

Mechanical Chest Compression Analysis
There is strong correlation between high quality chest compressions and patient survival with positive
neurological outcomes (J). Despite this, the quality of manual CPR depends on the endurance and
skills of the first responder and has been found to only provide approximately 30% of normal cardiac
output. This quality of CPR being particularly poor during patient transport (E). This is why numerous
mechanical chest compression devices have been invented and implemented in ambulance services.
These devices attempt to improve circulation, uniformity and free up more paramedics to perform
other critical patient care tasks such as, airway management (L). However, research surrounding
whether there are increased benefits for patients that receive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, there were still more occurrences with the mechanical device which aids in supporting the
previous studies. The study identified that among 1000 patients that received mechanical and manual
chest compressions, 7 experienced adverse events with mechanical and 3 with manual (E). However, a
proportion of these events were more serious than those mentioned in the previous study. For example,
in the mechanical chest compressions there was 1 reported case of a ruptured spleen, 1 pneumothorax
and 1 fractured thoracic vertebrae. Within the manual chest compressions there was a fractured rib and
an abdominal aortic aneurysm (E).
This is indicative that adverse events are more likely to occur with manual chest compressions.
However, in any cardiac patient management, the risk of an adverse event occurring should be
weighed against the benefit of applying a mechanical chest compression device that will provide the
patient with regular compressions. In addition, correct positioning and maintenance of the device may
eliminate many of these events (C F). Incorrect positioning of the device increases risk of damage to
the rib cage and internal organs, and can compromise blood circulation, increasing poor perfusion

Health Insurance Fraud Essay
Faking a death is the most common type of life insurance fraud and has even been the plot of many
movies, books and shows; although it is difficult to pull off. This occurs after a person takes out a life
insurance policy on their self and after a few months of it being in effect they disappear and are
declared dead. Then the beneficiary, a family member or spouse, then attempts to collect the life
insurance policy
Double billing is a scheme that is common in health insurance fraud. Doctors will bill for treatments

Insurers can refuse to pay claims or delete claims, deny or cancel coverage as well as underpay
medical expenses. Fraudulent insurance companies can also collect premiums and pay for inexpensive
care before disappearing if a large claim is filed. It has also been known for companies to look through
insurer claims to intentionally drop them saying the insurer did not disclose previously.
One of the most targeted insurance lines is auto insurance fraud. There are many known schemes that
take place in this fraud that can vary in seriousness and complexity. There are small schemes to
defraud; filing multiple claims for a single injury, filing claims for vehicle damage or injuries that
were not caused by and auto accident and padding the cost of repairs. The schemes can become more
complex involving staged accidents, faking injury or falsely reporting a stolen vehicle.
Other schemes in auto insurance fraud occur mostly to avoid paying higher premiums. People might
register their car in a different town so they have cheaper rates. It is also common for fake primary
drivers to be listed to avoid a bad driving record or young drivers that are indeed the sole driver.
Another scheme is a policy holder reporting a false auto insurance claim that occurred before the
policy period

Victor Frankenstein s The Monster
Nicholas Monds
Miss Sibbach
English IV
11 December, 2015
Victor... Creator or Destroyer Victor Frankenstein worried about everyone else and playing God,
rather than trying to do right, morally. Victor had to go through a lot of steps and difficulties to create
the monster. After the creation of the monster, everyone including Victor abandoned him. Victor
refused to create a girl creature to avoid a lot of problems, but he did not realize the hell the monster
would end up causing him. Victor regrets trying to play God because his action would cause him great
troubles and consequences. Victor Frankenstein had the great idea of creating a human like creature
that ultimately became bigger, stronger, and meaner than everyone around. The process and steps took
a lot longer than what Victor predicted. When the creature finally took his first breath, the two long
years of anticipation finally relieved Victor of his stress. Victor stayed up numerous nights and missed
so many meals stressing over this creature. He never gave up despite all the difficulties wanting to
become the first ever bringing life to a creature. So much has been done, exclaimed the soul of
Frankenstein more, far more, will I achieve; treading in the steps already marked, I will pioneer a new
way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation (sparknotes).
The creature was very hideous, gigantic, and didn t look to friendly to humans. All the time and work

Essay on John Singleton s Boyz in the Hood
Boyz in the Hood is a statement of how urban youth have been passed a legacy of tragic indifference,
and the writer has shown that it is an almost inescapable fate for those born into racism and poverty to
repeat the patterns they wish to escape. The movie s characters are clear representations of how the
system fails young black youth in the United States, and the difference one mentor can make for these
kids. During segregation young black children became targets for white brutality. This movie reflects
what the European mentality and what it has done to the African American culture.

I the article Race the Power of an Illusion, Dalton Conley says, the Civil Rights movement of the
1960s really marks both an opportunity and a new danger in terms of racial relations in America. On
the one hand, the Civil Rights era officially ended inequality of opportunity. It officially ended de jure
legal inequality, so it was no longer legal for employers, for landlords, or for any public institution or
accommodations to discriminate based on race. At the same time, those civil rights triumphs did
nothing to address the underlying economic and social inequalities that had already been in place
because of hundreds of years of inequality. (Conley pp 1). What goes on in the American ghetto is not
as glamorous as Hollywood makes it out to be now, this film does a great job at depicting what life in
the ghetto for black teens is really like. The ghettos in America are full of broken culture that is left
behind from centuries of oppression by the white man. Most teens like those in the movie never make
it out of their neighborhoods alive. Thousands of kids die every years from gang on gang violence,
damaging all chances of them escaping the ghetto and making something of themselves. Death, gangs,
and drugs is the more common way that young people are left with to deal with a life of poverty and
survival that seems to have no escape. Ricky seems to be a contender for a scholarship and it is

Annotated Lolita Analysis
A Postcolonial view of The Annotated Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
The infamous story of Lolita by author Vladimir Nabokov has been a controversial one since its first
release in America in November 1958. The publishing world and the average readers were not
prepared or interested in reading a story about a middle aged pedophile and his twelve year old
stepdaughter. People were outraged by the book and were repulsed by it, but as the moth is drawn to
the flame, so are curious minds and within one week, Lolita became a best selling book.
Author Vladimir Nabokov was born in Russia on April 22, 1899 during a time when socially
acceptable rules were very different than what we practice in today s society. During the 19th century
in Europe, it was common for a man to marry a young girl of only 10 years of age. We can only
speculate, that Nabokov writes about the sexual relationship between father and daughter as
acceptable through the eyes of Humbert, since this may have been behavior that was familiar to him
through friends and family in Russia and his travels throughout Europe. In this story, we can apply the
postcolonial theory to the Western born Humbert to the colonization of Dolores Haze. The Europeans
invaded America and wanted them to convert to their culture. They also help power over the new land

series MR. ROBOT takes place in. Directed by Sam Email, MR. ROBOT follows Elliot, a borderline

explaining what he really was thinking. The things Leon says in real life will be responded to in
narrative form unlike a normal two way conversation. This gives us the sense that people use Elliot to

and reality is something that irks the viewer to agree with Elliot s view of the world. By writing dialog

Elliot s decisions are felt as if we are also part of his imagination. TRANSITION

Examples Of Narration In The Awakening
The style of the narrative point of view is vital in the meaning the author wishes to convey in their
novel. The narrative of the text is imperatively central in the way in which the events of a novel are
expressed to audiences, the way these are framed is very important in relation to the effect it has on
the reader s impression of the events. The basis of the reader s understanding and opinion of the events
in a text is hugely dependent on the outlook and perspective from which they are described. With the
assistance of the narrative style in The Awakening, Edna s journey to realisation of the self and her

her thoughts and emotions which are very personal, the narrator continues to remind readers they are a

For example, the cheapest travel agent¡¯s price from Hong Kong to Jakarta v.v. used to be HKD3,000
six years ago, and we can get the same ticket for HKD1,800 now. This is part of the reason, amongst
other reasons, in which air travel is no longer a travel means for the privileged few and Airlines are
focusing on volume of revenue generation now. Consumers income and employment rate: The
composite household expenditure component of the Hong Kong Consumer Price Index declined from
($4,500 $65,999) in 1999/2000 to ($4,200 60,400) in 2004. The expenditure levels of households

Most people cannot see reality as it truly is from their eyes. In Athol Fugard s Master Harold... and the

people wanted to end apartheid, other people who lived with apartheid for their whole lives do not see
the wrongs with it. These people want change, but do not know that they are the issue which is known
as a psychological barrier. In the play, Athol Fugard uses Willie who struggles with a psychological

Electronic Cheques Are Electronic Copies Of A Regular...
Electronic cheques are electronic copies of a regular cheque. You are only able to pay with an
electronic cheque by sending an e mail of it to pay for the item you want. Electronic cheques are not
the most common method of payment for customers as they are often sent to businesses and
companies although they are able to be sent from person to person through a site such as eBay.
Electronic cheques are also signed off digitally by the person/business receiving the cheque to confirm
the receiving of the cheque.
Electronic cheques allow users of e commerce to pay with an electronic cheque, as an alternative
payment option rather than using a credit or debit card to purchase goods online. Electronic cheques
are more common in the US than in the UK, where credit and debit cards are used by the masses.
Electronic cheques give business, universities, private companies and personal online sellers the
ability to let their customer make an online payment by e mailing their cheque to the business/person
so they have their payment for their product. E commerce has allowed for this new method of
payment that has never been used previously by the public and now adds a new type of convenient
payment method for non credit/debit card users and customers who prefer not to give their bank
details to PayPal or another online banking account.
Electronic cheques however have their negatives, such as the time in which it takes for the transaction
to take place. It can take up to a couple of days

Healthcare Disparity Among The Hispanics
Healthcare Disparity among the Hispanics
Overview of the Population The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) (2015) provided an overview of
the Hispanic population, in which they reported the Office of Management and Budget s (OMB)
categorization of the population. Specifically, OMB defines Hispanics as a population which
comprises of Cubans, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, South and Central Americans as well as people from
other Spanish cultures (CDC, 2015). According to a report compiled by the CNN Library (2015),
Hispanics are the largest minority group in the United States. In fact, the size of the Hispanic group in
the United States is only second to the size of the Hispanic group in Mexico. The report further
explained that there were approximately 54 million Hispanic people in the United States by 2013. The
number showed a 2.1% increase in the Hispanic population between 2012 and 2013 (CNN Library,
2015). The total Hispanic population in 2013 constituted about 17% of the United States total
population. Gonzalez Barrera and Lopez (2013) inferred that people of Mexican origin constituted the
largest number of Hispanics in the United States. They maintained that there were approximately 33.7
million Hispanics from Mexico in the United States by 2012 (Gonzalez Barrera Lopez, 2013). The
Mexican Hispanics population is represented by people who are born in the United States and
immigrants from Mexico.

Joseph Plumb Martin, Biography
Born in western Massachusetts in 1760, Joseph Plumb Martin was the son of a pastor; at the age of
seven, he began living with his affluent grandfather. Almost as soon as the Revolutionary War broke
out in the spring of 1775, young Joseph was eager to lend his efforts to the patriotic cause. In June
1776, at the tender age of 15, Martin enlisted for a six month stint in the Connecticut state militia. By
the end of the year, Martin had served at the Battles of Brooklyn, Kip s Bay and White Plains in New
York. Though Martin declined to reenlist when his six month stint ended in December 1776, he later
changed his mind, and on April 12, 1777 he enlisted in the 8th Connecticut division of General George

On arriving at Valley Forge at the start of that famously long winter, Martin wrote: Our prospect was
indeed dreary. In our miserable condition, to go into the wild woods and build us habitations to stay
(not to live) in, in such a weak, starved and naked condition, was appalling in the highest degree....But
dispersion, I believe, was not thought of, at least, I did not think of it. We had engaged in the defense
of our injured country and were willing, nay, we were determined to persevere as long as such
hardships were not altogether intolerable...
Road to Yorktown
In 1778, Private Martin was transferred to the light infantry for a brief period, during which his unit
operated against Tory sympathizers in the Hudson Highlands region. He saw little action for the next
year, and in December 1778 began a winter encampment with his regiment at Morristown, New
Jersey. This difficult period saw the army s first mutiny of the war, as Martin wrote: We had borne as
long as human nature could endure, and to bear longer we considered folly. But Martin persevered,
and in the summer of 1780 he was recommended for appointment as a sergeant in the new engineer
corps, the Sappers and Miners. Among the corps principal duties were working with mines and with
saps, as the approach trenches to enemy works were called.

  • 2. Spartan Cultural Beliefs Cultural Beliefs Sparta is known in history as a powerhouse of militaristic power in Ancient Greece. In those times, Sparta was a constant in everyone s mind, being included in almost anything to do with the topic of war. Raised from the notation that warfare is the complete center of life, it found its way into the culture of the Spartan people inevitably. Spartan people had the mindset that they as a whole collectively needed to be ready for battle, and this differed from the Athenian mindset, causing both to become very much the enemies of each other. Sparta s cultural beliefs contributed to their rise to power due to their cultural values and education. How does your topic help create the Spartan individual collectivist mindset that catapulted this city state onto the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both had very different ways of bringing up their children, and had differing traditions, and ways of life. Spartan people were very much shown to be unlike people of Athens. Encyclopædia Britannica stated Unlike the boys of Athens, they spent little time learning music and literature. Instead they were drilled each day in gymnastics and military exercises. There were distinguishing parts in their youth that would lead them into adulthood with the same principles as their elders, with the same culture they ve adopted. This toughness displayed and detachment to things even as small as food, as The food at the common table was designed to fill a person and keep him alive, but nothing more (Asimov 52) contributed to their beliefs and traditional ways of being immersed in war culture. The Spartans followed the Spartan code, which ... was to fight hard, follow orders without questions, and to die rather than retreat or surrender (Asimov 52). This is shown even in a tale about a Spartan boy who captured a fox, and when questioned let the fox claw at him until eventually dying before telling the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of The Normandy Invasion June 6, 1944. The world has been at war for almost 5 years. The Axis Powers have occupied France and a lot of Europe. The USSR is pushing the Germans out of Russia and back towards Germany. The Allies are preparing to invade and take back Europe and defeat the Axis. The invasion starts with a mix of British and American paratroopers being dropped behind enemy lines to take important and over 100,00 soldiers are preparing to launch one of the largest sea invasions of all time. The soldiers are a mix of British, Canadian, and United States origin. The 5 beaches being attacked are codenamed Utah, Gold, Sword, Juno, and Omaha. In the end, the invasion as a whole turned out to be a success on every beach. There were many reasons for this success, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was a very long stretch of beach near the Cherbourg peninsula, bordered by Utah Beach and Gold Beach. The 1st and 29th American infantry divisions landed here on June 6, 1944 at approximately 6.30 A.M. The landscape of the beach and surrounding area made it easy to defend, but very difficult to attack. Facing the shore were large cliffs with multiple machine gun emplacements and bunkers looking down towards it. Between the bunkers was barely any cover for the soldiers. This brings up the question: Why did the Allies attack it? There are many reasons. First, the Allies needed a way to link up Utah to Gold and the rest of the British sector. Utah was needed for the capture of Cherbourg, and Gold was needed to put the Mulberry harbor in place. If these did not get linked to each other, the soldiers on each front wouldn t be able to communicate effectively. Second, the Allied needed to make sure the Germans couldn t regroup and counterattack. A counterattack at that stage would be terrible for the Allies because they had not landed much supplies yet and had sustained a lot of casualties. Taking Omaha would prevent this from happening. Finally, Omaha covered the most land. This was essential for capturing the most possible towns, cities, and communication hubs. In spite of all the difficulties, the Allies took the cliffs at around 10 A.M. Over the course of these 4 hours, the General of the Army Omar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Duality Sprawling an entire city block and towering three stories above Englewood, a thriving suburb just south of Chicago, sat a building that would come to be known as the Murder Castle . Constructed during the gilded age of America, in an atmosphere of booming financial success that was bursting with real estate development, job seekers, tycoons, and self made millionaires who were held in high esteem. The city of Chicago still bustling from rebuilding after the great fire of 1871, became a torrent of vigor in preparation of the 1893 Columbian Exposition, World s Fair. More than twenty six million people from around the world were flooding Chicago. This was a perfect atmosphere to construct a building for which the entire world would come to know. It was 1886 when H.H. Holmes, who was formally known as Herman Webster Mudgett came to the city of Chicago. Throughout his lifetime Holmes had several other aliases that he used to elude numerous creditors and former acquaintances he feared would step forward with accusations of fraud, poisoning and murder, so deciding he would change his identity now going by Henry Howard Holmes. • 5. William Butler Yeats The Second Coming In William Butler Yeats The Second Coming, the poet makes phrases such as; the best lack of conviction of stony sleep (19) and the falcon cannot hear the falconer (2). The phrases are useful in suggesting various thematic concerns of the poem as well asserting separation of ideas and events that occur during the time when Yeats is writing his work. Different interpretations of the stanzas may bring a connection of the antagonism of people and events that Yeats foresees. For instance, the falcon separates from the falconer, the lion having the head of a human being (sphinx) and things falling apart indicate contradicting forces that work to build history at the time. The analysis of the poem is on the basis of contradicting forces that separate modernity from the ancient world. Yeats introduces the poem by referring to a falcon that flies away from the falconer who happens to release it. Shockingly, the falcon cannot hear its master but it continues wheeling at far distance from the falconer. The separation between the falcon and the falconer presents a metaphorical incidence that is worth to interpret. For instance, it is possible that the disassociation represent the young ones, acting as falcons, and separate themselves from the old order of the society. Notably, the modern children may be adopting new societal principles different from the ones that their parents and grandparents prescribe during the Yeats time. Such societal engagements may touch on music, new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He are transforms from a loyal person with a loving and loyal disposition with other people, into a tyrants who are willing to kill in order to keep himself on the throne. He is tormented with fear, regret, and guilt. When someone does something they know is wrong it causes them to fall prey to their own emotions. After Duncan s death you are able to see how the characters involved in the murder almost instantly experience feelings of regret. There is a scene where Macbeth is in shock so greatly after murdering Duncan, that he forgets to leave the murder weapon behind. When confronted by Lady Macbeth(who says he needs to go return the weapons) he says, I ll go no more: / I am afraid to think what I have done; / Look on t again I dare not ( 2.2 53 55). This allows us to see how Macbeth is pained by what he has done. Macbeth also says he heard a voice say Glamis hath murdered sleep, and therefore Cawdor shall sleep no more. Macbeth shall sleep no more. ( 2.2 46 48). When Macbeth says this he is saying that he has not only murdered Duncan, but he has murdered sleep. He is saying he won t be able to sleep after what he has just done because he will regret it forever and it will haunt him. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are interrupted by knocking on the door and as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth walk away he says, Wake Duncan with thy knocking; I would though couldst. ( 2.2 78 79). ... • 11. Learning English As A Foreign Language Introduction This essay will try to explain through the use of research why and how people learn English as a foreign language. Brian Munoz is an example of a student learning English as a foreign language. He was born in Mexico and his first language is Spanish. As well as studying English he has also studied French. Brian has an interest in learning languages and wishes to one day be able to travel to the countries where those languages are spoken. Brian would first like to visit the united states in order to completely immerse himself in English. There are five members of his family, himself, his parents and his siblings. Motivation Brian is both intrinsically and extrinsically motivated to learn English. In an interview he stressed that he thinks English will be necessary in university in order for him to obtain a degree. Brian also stated that he wishes to use his English skills in the future in order to obtain a better job. An intrinsic reason is that Brian has two cousins who speak English that he would like to be able to talk to (Harmer; 2007, pp. 98 104). Learning Style Brian has a highly logical mathematical intelligence. This suggests he is a highly analytical and scientific thinker (Oxford; 2001, pp. 359 366). Brian s style of learning can be particularly well suited to learning grammar and other pattern based aspects of language. He finds when the teacher gives the students a set formula to grammar learning very easy. Teaching Method The Comprehension Based Approach will be best suited for Brian. Brian has stated that he struggles the most with listening comprehension, and this approach emphasizes listening and comprehension (Sauvignon; 2001, pp. 13 28). Student Needs Brian would like to improve his English fluency, especially when listening to spoken English. He is confident in his abilities in other areas such as grammar. A one on one lesson will be designed to help Brian achieve his goals, and strengthen his weaknesses. Language Skills Brian s weak points are in the listening and reading language skills. Brian finds listening activities in his IMAC class to be difficult for him to understand. He has trouble paying attention to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through the interpretation of the symbolism of Antonio s dreams, the reader develops a deeper understanding of Antonio s struggles. Throughout the novel, Antonio is learning that Ultima s owl is also his protector. Its song seemed to say that it had come to watch over us, (13). Essay on John Singleton s Boyz in the Hood Boyz in the Hood is a statement of how urban youth have been passed a legacy of tragic indifference, and the writer has shown that it is an almost inescapable fate for those born into racism and poverty to repeat the patterns they wish to escape. The movie s characters are clear representations of how the system fails young black youth in the United States, and the difference one mentor can make for these kids. During segregation young black children became targets for white brutality. This movie reflects what the European mentality and what it has done to the African American culture. I the article Race the Power of an Illusion, Dalton Conley says, the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s really marks both an opportunity and a new danger in terms of racial relations in America. On the one hand, the Civil Rights era officially ended inequality of opportunity. It officially ended de jure legal inequality, so it was no longer legal for employers, for landlords, or for any public institution or accommodations to discriminate based on race. At the same time, those civil rights triumphs did nothing to address the underlying economic and social inequalities that had already been in place because of hundreds of years of inequality. (Conley pp 1). What goes on in the American ghetto is not as glamorous as Hollywood makes it out to be now, this film does a great job at depicting what life in the ghetto for black teens is really like. The ghettos in America are full of broken culture that is left behind from centuries of oppression by the white man. Most teens like those in the movie never make it out of their neighborhoods alive. Thousands of kids die every years from gang on gang violence, damaging all chances of them escaping the ghetto and making something of themselves. Death, gangs, and drugs is the more common way that young people are left with to deal with a life of poverty and survival that seems to have no escape. • 29. Annotated Lolita Analysis A Postcolonial view of The Annotated Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov The infamous story of Lolita by author Vladimir Nabokov has been a controversial one since its first release in America in November 1958. The publishing world and the average readers were not prepared or interested in reading a story about a middle aged pedophile and his twelve year old stepdaughter. People were outraged by the book and were repulsed by it, but as the moth is drawn to the flame, so are curious minds and within one week, Lolita became a best selling book. Author Vladimir Nabokov was born in Russia on April 22, 1899 during a time when socially acceptable rules were very different than what we practice in today s society. During the 19th century in Europe, it was common for a man to marry a young girl of only 10 years of age. We can only speculate, that Nabokov writes about the sexual relationship between father and daughter as acceptable through the eyes of Humbert, since this may have been behavior that was familiar to him through friends and family in Russia and his travels throughout Europe. In this story, we can apply the postcolonial theory to the Western born Humbert to the colonization of Dolores Haze. The Europeans invaded America and wanted them to convert to their culture. ROBOT follows Elliot, a borderline schizophrenic computer hacker determined to make a change in the world for the better. Through minimalistic yet stunning cinematography, the series broke boundaries by pushing the rules of film. It stands as a prime example of why doing things in an untraditional manner can produce great results. With every episode making the viewer feel as if they are more a part of Elliot s mind. In MR. Although we watch them have full conversations, they re only hallucinations. We come to see that he only speaks the truth in his head. When forced to converse with real characters such as his friend Leon, the things he says are purely white lies, only said to occupy the other person s need for conversation. While these exchanges are happening, Elliot falls back to narration in his mind, explaining what he really was thinking. The things Leon says in real life will be responded to in narrative form unlike a normal two way conversation. This gives us the sense that people use Elliot to get out what s on their mind, without knowing his own problems. A contrast between personal beliefs and reality is something that irks the viewer to agree with Elliot s view of the world. By writing dialog in this style, some of the emotions portrayed become transparent to us, the viewer. The weight of Elliot s decisions are felt as if we are also part of his imagination. The narrative of the text is imperatively central in the way in which the events of a novel are expressed to audiences, the way these are framed is very important in relation to the effect it has on the reader s impression of the events. The basis of the reader s understanding and opinion of the events in a text is hugely dependent on the outlook and perspective from which they are described. It is possible that this form of narration is used in order to cleverly reinforces the alienation of Edna Pontellier from her society, as while readers gain access to her thoughts and emotions which are very personal, the narrator continues to remind readers they are a separate entity from Edna, which creates distance from the protagonist. This strengthens the ostracisation Edna is to be faced with once her true self is awakened , therefore this form of narration, in the context of the novel, almost prepares the reader for the coming awakening of Edna Pontellier, as she is separate and distant from the reader from the ... You are only able to pay with an electronic cheque by sending an e mail of it to pay for the item you want. Electronic cheques are not the most common method of payment for customers as they are often sent to businesses and companies although they are able to be sent from person to person through a site such as eBay. Electronic cheques are also signed off digitally by the person/business receiving the cheque to confirm the receiving of the cheque. Electronic cheques allow users of e commerce to pay with an electronic cheque, as an alternative payment option rather than using a credit or debit card to purchase goods online. Electronic cheques are more common in the US than in the UK, where credit and debit cards are used by the masses. Electronic cheques give business, universities, private companies and personal online sellers the ability to let their customer make an online payment by e mailing their cheque to the business/person so they have their payment for their product. E commerce has allowed for this new method of payment that has never been used previously by the public and now adds a new type of convenient payment method for non credit/debit card users and customers who prefer not to give their bank details to PayPal or another online banking account. Almost as soon as the Revolutionary War broke out in the spring of 1775, young Joseph was eager to lend his efforts to the patriotic cause. This difficult period saw the army s first mutiny of the war, as Martin wrote: We had borne as long as human nature could endure, and to bear longer we considered folly. But Martin persevered, and in the summer of 1780 he was recommended for appointment as a sergeant in the new engineer corps, the Sappers and Miners.
