Hamlet Soliloquy Act 3 Scene 3 Essay
Hamlet Soliloquy Act 3 Scene 3
Hamlet has just watched Claudius praying for forgiveness in the church and has been hiding and
waiting for his chance to kill him.
Now might I do it pat, now he is praying; And now I ll do t. And so he goes to heaven; And so am I
revenged. That would be scann d:
Hamlet is saying that if he kills his uncle while he is praying, will his father be avenged because as he
is confessing his sins to god if hamlet killed him then he would go straight to heaven and his father
would not be avenged
A villain kills my father; and for that, I, his sole son, do this same villain send To heaven.
He says now how he being his father s only son and that only he ... Show more content on

By so doing it was believed that the sins of the dead person would be absorbed and the deceased
would have clear passage to the hereafter. Hamlet could be saying that his father may have been full of
sins but he did not even get his sins atoned by having them eaten by a sin eater.
And how his audit stands who knows save heaven? But in our circumstance and course of thought,
Hamlet says that only heaven knows how many sins you have commited throughout your life and if
you have atoned for them and when they add up how many of those sins you have that is the deciding
factor to see whether you go to heaven or hell.
Tis heavy with him: and am I then revenged, To take him in the purging of his soul, When he is fit and
season d for his passage? No!
Hamlet thinks again is it better for me to teke him when he is full of sin or is it better for me to take
him when he has atoned for his sins, of course it is the latter one because then his father would truly
be avenged as his uncle would go to hell. He is very final when he says no because Claudius killed
Hamlet s father while Hamlet Sr was still carrying his sin therefore

The Pros And Cons Of Global Warming
Warming
Global warming is the gradual increase in the overall temperature of the Earth s atmosphere generally
attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants
(Collins). The current climate changes that are occurring all over the world have sparked a growing
controversy on whether global warming is true or false. Many of these individuals who play a role in
this controversy argue that the current climate changes are simply part of the cycles seen in the earth s
geological history or that it is simply caused by an increase in the brightness of the sun. This point of
view is understandable as humanity is dependent on the climate for survival. However, many
climatologists and scientists have found that the current climate changes are much more worrisome
than previous climate changes. They have found that carbon dioxide (CO2) levels have increased over
the years because of an increase in the use of coal, oil, and gas and that the Earth s current pattern of
warming is greater and faster than that of prehistoric warming episodes.
The first argument many individuals would make against global warming is that the current climate
changes are simply part of the cycles seen in the earth s geological history. Global warming would
easily be proven correct if Earth s temperature had been stable for the majority of its geological
history. However, for over two million years, during the Ice Ages, Earth s temperature rose and fell

Allusions In The Hollow Men
T.S. Eliot s The Hollow Men is a broad allegory for trying to find deliverance in a landscape
reminiscent of purgatory. Eliot provides examples of allusion and imagery to describe a fully realized
apocalyptic scenario that affirms the hopelessness of people vacant in spirit. The poem is in five
sections, narrated by the forsaken hollow men. The speakers are a paradox stuffed with straw and
empty at the same time.
Before the first section are two allusions: literary and historical. Mistah Kurtz he dead is reference to
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Kurtz was a man who had lost his humanity after traveling to
Africa and succumbing to insanity. A penny for the old Guy is a question traditionally asked by
children on November 5th in England. The question references Guy Fawkes, a British rebel infamous
for his involvement in the Gunpowder Plot , set to assassinate King James I. Both Kurtz and Fawkes
are hollow men suffering from their sentience in a situation where it is futile. ... Show more content on

Line 60 s tumid river is the Acheron of Dante s Inferno, which, in line with Greek mythology, was on
the margins of hell. The hollow men of the poem ritualistically gather on the beach of the Acheron,
permanently stuck without death or any form of crossing over. In addition to Inferno, the poem alludes
to Paradiso; described in line 64, the awe inspiring multifoliate rose appears as a twilight kingdom
another distant release the hollow men long for, yet is impossible for them to attain. An implication
from a line of Julius Caesar further characterizes the setting of The Hollow Men; Between the motion

Why was Germany unable to translate tactical and operational victories into strategic success during
World War II? More pointedly and stated simpler, why did Germany loose World War II?
Why Germany lost the war (despite its early tactical successes) is a simple question with a complex
answer. And, over the years since Germany s surrender at Reims, France on May 7, 1945, scholars and
historians have provided a number of arguments to warrant their perspective answers. Consequently

Because Hitler s vision did not translate into an effective strategic plan, with clear strategic objectives
a disconnect between what Germany wanted to achieve (ends), the way it wanted to achieve it (ways),
and the resources it would choose to utilize (means) was created. As such, it is this disconnection that
also played a large role in Germany s failure to translate its tactical and operational victories into
strategic success and overall victory. Examples of this disconnect and the calamitous effects are
clearly present in a quick analysis of the Battle of Britain.
During the Battle of Britain, Germany wanted to achieve air superiority but ultimately failed to defeat
the Royal Air Force (RAF). Hitler ordered the Lufwaffe to destroy the RAF in preparation for
Operation Sealion which was Germany s invasion plan for Britain. Although numerous factors
contributed to Hitler s decision to attack Britain, in keeping with his one front at a time war
methodology, Hitler wanted to secure the Western Front prior to invading the Soviet Union. Initially,
directed by Hermann Goering (commander in chief of the Lufwaffe) Germany targeted Britain s
coastal areas and convoys, airports, and vital British air warning and radar

Poverty And Homelessness In America
Being a first generation immigrant to the United States I have seen poverty and homelessness more
than the average american. I was born in the country of Macedonia, but i m ethnically Albanian. The
average wage for a worker without some type of post secondary education in Macedonia is about 200
euros a month. For those who have some type of secondary education the wages are slightly higher,
ranging from 300 to 800 euros a month. The majority of the population makes around $1.33 per hour.
This isn t a surprising fact considering the county s GDP of only 13 billion dollars. The majority of the
land is impoverished, and jobs are strongly segregated based on ethnicity. The ethnic Macedonians

minimum wage job here you are still making 5.45 times more money than the average person who
lives in macedonia. Another advantage is the fact th at the person is born here, they don t have to
move here to gain the economic opportunity like my grandfather. Poverty and homelessness in

The Individuals With Disabilities Education Act
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, also known as IDEA was originally created in 1975
to ensure that children with disabilities were given the opportunity to receive a free and adequate
education. IDEA has been revised and many times since 1975, the most recent being in 2004. IDEA
consists of parts A, B, C, and D. Part A outlines the basic foundation, and defines terms used
throughout the act. Part B outlines the responsibilities of schools to educate students aged 3 21. The
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act does provide funding for schools, as long as they comply
with the six main principles of set forth in IDEA. The first principle states that every child is entitled
to receive a free and appropriate education, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows students with disabilities to be in a general education classroom with their non disabled
classmates for various amounts of time, depending on the needs of the individual student. The fifth
and sixth principles schools must comply with go together. The fifth states that input from parents and
students must be taken into account during the education process. During the education process if a
parent feels that their child is not receiving adequate or needed services, they have a right under IDEA
to challenge their child s treatment through due process. The six principles that schools must comply
with for students with disabilities were created to ensure that students receive an adequate education
like their non disabled classmates receive, and protects them against discrimination at school. IDEA
also contains a Part C that is much like Part B, but targets the education of very young children. Part C
outlines the responsibilities of identifying and reaching children with disabilities from birth to 2 years
old. Parents of children in this age range are entitled to receive identification and services and
interventions in a timely and appropriate manner. Parents at this age receive a Individualized Family
Service Plan instead of an IEP for school aged children. Parents are also entitled to take part in
creating the ISP and timely resolutions to questions or concerns in their child s evaluation process.

Laws Affecting The Agency Of The United States Postal Service
Laws Affecting The Agency
When it comes to The United States Postal Service, I did not think they would have many court cases,
especially dealing with diversity and mistreatment in the workplace. During my research, however, I
was proven wrong. The Postal Service has had quite a few court cases, while many of them relate to
ethical and discriminatory issues. Individuals have felt that the Postal Service sometimes judge
applicants or workers by their lifestyle or ethnicity. This in turn shows bad representation of personnel
management. One case that shows proof of this is the United States Postal Service v. Aikens. Harold
Aikens, who was a black employee of the USPS, opened a case against his job being that he felt he
was not receiving promotions because of his ethnicity. This is a direct violation of Title VII if found to
be true. According to the USPS, Aikens applied for a promotion for which he possessed the minimum
qualifications, and that the employer selected a nonminority applicant, the parties and the Court of
Appeals have unnecessarily evaded the ultimate question of discrimination... (Bartholet 1982).
Ultimately, the court upheld that Aikens did not in fact present a valid prima faci case, which the
plaintiff creates a belief that the employer discriminated against him, and have evidence that backs up
his claim. Due to the failure to prove that he was being discriminated against due to his race, the case
did not go in his way. Regardless of the judgement, this

Airborne Express Case Study 1
Executive summary
Airborne Express is the third largest and fastest growing international air express delivery company in
America. It held roughly 16% of the domestic express mail market by 1997. It provides time sensitive
delivery of documents, letters, small packages, and freight in the United States and internationally.
The company has several advantages over its rivals, such as it provides delivery services at a lower
cost of up to 20% over FedEx and UPS; it operates the nation s only privately owned foreign trade
zone in Wilmington; it is more flexible and provides more customer tailored services. It charges lower
price but still much guarantee delivery dates (not offered by the US Postal Service).

Competition: the US domestic express mail market is somewhat in an oligopoly status. The
competition among the big three is quite fierce. Yet normally FedEx and UPS lead the market. The six
other second tier players do not have any threats to the three major players.
The US Postal Service served much of the rest of the market. However, it has a limited popularity just
among residential customers because it is inefficient in package tracking and has a much worse on
time delivery record. It has a legal monopoly for first class letters. But the company is prohibited by
law from offering volume discounts to customers.
DHL and TNT focus on the international market and trans border shipments. DHL offer hard to reach
service since it has hubs in many other different places in the world. It has never invested heavily in
domestic market. TNT focuses its effort on Europe.
BAX Global focuses on heavy cargo. RPS does not offer overnight delivery. It focused on two day
delivery via a ground network. It is known for its efficient ground transportation and its sophisticated
information technology.
The traditional express industry is threatened by facsimile and electronic mails, which have zero cost.
Competition between FedEx and UPS has caused a lower price and more innovations. The industry is
quite consolidated and has a very high barrier to

Illegal Immigrants Are Good For The Economy Of The United...
Throughout the history of independent United States, the country has attracted immigrants from
different parts of the world. Illegal immigrants form the larger proportion of the immigrants into the
United States. Policy analysts, government officials, as well as scholars have sought to ascertain the
political, social, and economic impacts of the illegal immigrants (Hanson 11). Particularly, there has
been raging debate regarding the economic impact of illegal immigration to the United States of
America. It has become a matter of debate and study as it relates considerably to the nation s politics
and economy. At the centre of this debate is the question of whether illegal immigrants are good or
bad to the economy of the United States (Dudley 18).
Various studies have shown that majority of the United States citizens think that illegal immigrants are
bad for the nation s economy. However, there are those who believe that they are good for the
economy. Several surveys show that there is consensus among many economists that both legal and
illegal immigration is good for the economy as it provides cheap labor, gives net boost to the
economy, reduce the cost of goods and services, and widens the market for goods and services
(Kenney 23). This paper will discuss illegal immigration and its impact on the economy.
In general terms, illegal immigrants are defined as all individuals who are foreign born and are non
American citizens and who are not the legal residents of the nation.

Self Esteem And Self Diversity
Community is a congregation of human beings where they share the same symbols and experiences as
well as language (Grady, 1994). Individuals, objects and spaces are all tied into one by the community.
Community does not depend on a certain location or area, it depends on the unity of the individuals
who live there (Grady, 1994). The community provides familiarity with daily interactions among
individuals and creates a sense of belonging. A sense of belonging in a community provides the
comfort and safety required to discover and utilize one s gifts (Grady, 1994). The foundation of self
esteem and self acceptance starts with a sense of belonging in the community (Grady, 1994). When an
individual has a sense of belonging within the community, they feel included. Inclusion is allowing all
individuals to participate in natural environments regarding their differences (Grady, 1994). Feeling
included in the community is important, especially to those who have a disability. The health
profession, occupational therapy, strives for inclusion in the community for people who have
disabilities and those who do not. The sense of belonging is important to an individual s self esteem,
specifically those who have a disability, and is used in the health field of occupational therapy.
The community creates a numerous amount of opportunities for an individual to be included in its
rituals and traditions. Therefore, inclusion into the community is very significant for an individual s

Essay on Opposites Attract in Antony and Cleopatra
Opposites Attract in Antony and Cleopatra
William Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is a play that is centred around a pair of historical lovers
from two distinct cultures, Mark Antony from Rome and Queen Cleopatra from Egypt. The Roman
and Egyptian cultures have vastly different norms and social ideas that are almost complete polar
opposites in nature. These conflicting views are instrumental in the way that Cleopatra and Antony
act. These two characters are so great in their respective societies that they serve as models to look to,
although Antony may not be everybody s perfect vision of what a Roman should be. It is also
important to look at not only what these two characters think of their cultures, but what cultural ...

In addition to this way of designating the two title characters, Anne Barton has compiled a list of
expressions used to describe Cleopatra and Antony. She first discusses references to Antony:
In the course of the tragedy, Antony is called the noble Antony, the courteous Antony, the firm Roman,
Mars, a mine of bounty, the triple pillar of the world, the demi atlas of this earth, the lord of lords, of
infinite virtue, the crown o the earth, and the garland of the war. These are only a few of the
celebratory epithets. He is also poor Antony, a libertine, the abstract of all faults that all men follow, a
gorgon, a sworder, an old ruffian, a doting mallard, the ne er lust wearied Antony, and a strumpet s
fool. (47) All of the honorific titles given to Antony suggest to the audience that he is indeed more
than a mortal man. Even in the titles given to Antony that are less than respectful, he is still seen as
something other than an average human being. Being called a gorgon , for example, would not make
Antony seem like a hero, but he would still be seen as something more than human. Many times a
description of Antony will include the word the , implying that he alone is this great, and has no
counterpart.
Cleopatra is also more than a simple mortal human in the role of the Queen of Egypt, as she is
constantly referred to as the personification of Egypt. She even refers to herself in the same way. The

Wilson Vs Macomber
Three s a Crowd
We have nothing to fear, but fear itself. Known by many, this common phrase has few words, but a
intense meaning. In Ernest Hemingway s short story, The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber, the
overcoming of fear is shown throughout the story. Francis Macomber and his wife Margaret
Macomber are on an African safari with a man name Robert Wilson. Hemingway portrays Francis
Macomber as wealthy and beautiful, yet cowardly. Macomber s wife Margaret also young and
beautiful, but seemingly dissatisfied with her husband of eleven years. Robert Wilson is portrayed as a
fearless man that has little regard for anyone but himself. The story is focused around Francis
Macomber s cowardly actions and his attempt to become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to the conflict in the story, there are scenes of rising action. One example of rising action
occurs when Wilson and Macomber return to the wild to hunt for a lion once again. Macomber is able
to get a shot off but only able to wound the lion before it runs away. As Wilson and Macomber search
for the wounded lion to finish it off, he inevitably runs away frightened for a second time. Hemingway
writes Macomber, was running; running wildly, in panic in the open, running toward the stream. As a
result of this instance, Macomber s wife takes a thriving interest in Wilson. Hemingway writes, Once
he had reached over to take his wife s hand . . . she had removed her hand from his . . . his wife had
reached forward and put her hand on Wilson s shoulder . . . and kissed him on the mouth. Later,
Macomber s wife sleeps with Wilson, which will completely change Macomber s persona for the rest
of the story. Macomber is so overcome with anger, his character quickly changes from cowardly to
courageous. Finally, the conflict and the rising action of Hemingway s story leads to the climax. This
occurs when Wilson, Macomber, and his wife take their final journey into the wild. As a result of the
sheer anger Macomber has for Wilson and his wife, his fear is drowned by adrenaline. Macomber
instantly takes on the characteristics of Wilson as he takes out two buffalo on the journey. At this
point, Wilson respects this

Binge Drinking and How It Applies to the Ottawa Charter
Classical conditioning Classical conditioning is a form of basic learning the body automatically
responds to a stimulus. One stimulus takes on the properties of another. The Russian physiologist Ivan
Pavlov (1849 1936) is credited for discovering the basic principles of classical conditioning whilst he
was studying digestion in dogs. He developed a technique for collecting dog s salivary secretions.
Pavlov (cited in Eysneck M.W 2009) noticed that the dogs would often start salivating before they
were given any food or saw the feeding bucket or even when they heard the footstep of the laboratory
assistant coming to feed them. Quite by accident Pavlov had discovered that the environmental control

Johannes Brahms was a German Composer, Pianist and conductor of the 19th century or the Romantic

About the age of twelve he came entirely under the tuition of Marxsen, who, finding him incorrigible
in his desire to improve compositions at the piano, soon began to teach him theory. But in order to be
able to continue these lessons, it was imperative that he should earn at least part of his keep at home,

Computers And The Price Of Prices Essay
Price had never been this low where a desktop costs only $499, whereas laptops are hovering around
$1100. Yet do not forget the $500 Apple mini sub compact laptop or the Apple iBook laptop that sells
for $650, and the stripped down $400 after rebate laptops companies like Gateway and eMachine are
flooding the market with to make money on volume of sales instead of a high price margin. The
problem is even if the price of PCs plummets the effect is not felt immediately, because people do not
rush to change their PC despite the fact they are getting it cheaper, which means the PC turnover rate
is low like most durable goods. That might be what is contributing to the declining of prices, as the
assumption of the manufacturers might be that if the price goes low enough people might want to
change their computer to avail themselves the latest add ons. Even the add ons themselves seem to
have reached their zenith some time ago and the latest most alluring gadget that came into existence
was CD/DVD RW and every reasonably priced desktop or laptop is equipped with it. However, it does
not mean the makers of PCs are not coming up with new functionality, add ons, and price reductions
to woo buyers. The other recent addition was Wi Fi that got boost from the introduction of Intel s
Centrino mobile technology chip and it had added a lot to the mobility of laptops, which can access

Richard Wasserstrom s Ideal Society
Everyone has their own definition of what a perfect world would be. Richard Wasserstrom in Sex
Roles and the Ideal Society states that in an assimilationist ideal society, a person s sex should be as
unimportant as eye color is in our society today.1 But should we just ignore a person s sex all together
to make the world equal? A different opinion from Phyllis Schlafly in The Power of the Positive
Woman states that sex should be a relevant factor in family roles and social roles.² But should a person
s sex completely dictate what they can or cannot do within their family and in society? In this paper I
will argue that Wasserstrom s ideal society will not work because I think that eventually humans
would naturally make general gender roles based on the different activities that each sex excels in. I
agree, to some extent, with Schlafly s that sex should be a relevant factor with reference to roles in the
family and society. In my ideal society, there would be a balance in social and family roles, which
would be based on an individual s personal strengths and weaknesses. In this utopia, complete equality
is possible, unlike in Wasserstrom s and Schlafly s.
Wasserstrom s supports the conclusion that to allocate social roles to individuals based on their sex is
inherently unjust. He goes through different arguments as to why he thinks we should do away with
sex roles. One argument was that within these roles are not the behaviors we would be naturally, but
due to these

Similarities And Differences Between Rusingoryx And...
Q1 1 Briefly indicate what the article 1 is about:
In this article according to the scientist they have found many links between Rusingoryx and
hadrosaur dinosaurs. Palaeontologists have found skull of ancient wildebeest, hollow dome that makes
a crest on top of the animal s skull. Nasal dome is completely new structure for mammals.
Paleontologists say that a Pleistocene antelope with a bony nasal crest like that of some hadrosaur
species is a surprising example of what s called convergent evolution. (Strickland, Feb.4, 2016, para.
2). This convergent evolution can be explained by the similarities in the way Rusingoryx and
hadrosaurs lived. Such as Rusingoryx and hadrosaurs enjoyed very similar lifestyles: both grazed in

A subtle, but clear pattern emerged: Languages in hotter, more forested regions such as the tropics
tended to be sonorous, employing lower frequency sounds and using fewer distinct consonants,
whereas languages in colder, drier, more mountainous places were consonant heavy (Underwood,
Nov.4, 2015, para. 4).
They looked at the frequency of vowel and consonant and cross reference this against climate and
environmental condition.
Q2 1 Explain how the article 1 relates to anthropology:
The article compares and links the similarities between Rusingoryx and the hadrosaurs. Hadrosaurs
lived 65 million years ago and Rusingoryx lived 64.9 million years later. According to the scientist
this evolutionary convergence can be explain by the similarities between their lifestyle. Both
mammals are herbivorous.
The article refers to the concept of macro evolution that we learn in the lecture. Macro evolution
occurs over thousands and millions of years and refers to biological changes in the form of the
appearance of a new species (Cerri, 2016). It s basically introduction of a new species after long time
but it show some similarities with some other species. It s an evolution, which means continuous
change.
Researchers think that the animal s crest evolved from earlier relatives of Rusingoryx. The relative

Weimar Germany
Germany was like a battered solider coming home after War World I. He expected to find his
comfortable and familiar civilian life right where he left it. Back to normality, back to stability and
safety. However, that unchanged and perfect ideal of home that he expected no longer existed. They
had foreign invaders on their soil and influencing their people. After the loss of World War I, the
German economy were imposed with financial responsibilities according the Treaty of Versailles in
1919. Germans were expected to pay reparations to the Allied powers while their territory was

Spin-Doctors Case Study
Since the PR ization of politics , spin doctors have played an essential role in the political and
communication processes of democratic societies. The reputation of an administrative team can be
irreversibly affected by the way a crisis or issue is managed in the eyes of the public, who have greater
influence over political power than ever before. It is the role of spin doctors to construct a favourable
narrative that will frame a politician in a positive light, while utilising the mass media to steer public
opinion. The role of a spin doctor can be challenging, especially during natural disasters. These
situations often evoke distress, panic and confusion among the public requiring an urgent political

The floods affected much of central and southern Queensland, killing 35 people and causing over
$200 billion in damages. This disaster was named as the most notorious flood in Australian history
(Carbone Hanson, 2012). This essay will draw on key examples from Bligh s performance and spin
team tactics throughout the course of the disaster. As outlined by Louw, there are four key political
players politicians, spin doctors, journalists and publics (2010). During the Queensland floods, each
player had a specific agenda. Journalists worked to create and circulate gripping stories while
providing the public with up to date crisis information. Spin professionals worked alongside the
Queensland Government to fulfil a number of objectives including: public safety, the promotion of
Bligh as a competent leader, and to control and minimise any potential negative criticism.
Additionally, Bligh also had specific agendas to fill driven by her professional reputation and political
popularity. Throughout the crisis, all political players achieved their goals while maintaining a
symbiotic relationship, which can be attributed to the success of Bligh s

Flaws Of The Laws Against Sex Offenders
Flaws in our Laws According to the Center for Sex Offender Management It is estimated that one in
every five girls and one in every seven boys are sexually abused by the time they reach adulthood .
The United States has many laws aimed to reduce sexual offenders but the annual percentages for
sexual offenses have stayed the same ever since the laws were established. This research is not
intended to lessen the gravity of sexual offenses but to understand that our laws against sex offenders
are not preventing the sexual offenses. The main problem with the laws against sex offenders, are the
sex offender registries, the registries fail to act as a deterrent for sexual offenses and they encourage
vigilante justice. Also, people convicted of a minor sexual offense face harsh punishments and sex
offenders face many restrictions. In order to understand why the United States sex offender laws are
the way they are, we need to know the story behind on why they were created. In 1993, the Jacob
Wetterling Crimes Against Children and Sexually Violent Offender Registration Act was established
when Jacob Erwin Wetterling, an 11 year old boy, who was kidnapped, raped, and murdered by a
sexual predator, that lived near him. According to the article Rethinking Sex Offender Registries by
Lehrer, Eli, the Jacob Wetterling Crimes Against Children and Sexually Violent Offender Registration
Act required all states to establish their own registries . After the Wetterling Act was established an

The Global Epidemic Of Elder Abuse Essay
Evidence suggests that one in 10 older adults experiences some form of elder abuse, but only one in
25 cases is reported to social services agencies (Dong, 2012, p. 2151). Elder mistreatment can occur in
a variety of settings including domestic and assisted living. Elder abuse includes psychological,
physical, and sexual abuse; neglect to include both caregiver and self neglect; and financial
exploitation. With the vast explosion of the aging population in today s society elder abuse can no
longer loom in the shadows.
Literature Review After many years, the global epidemic of elder abuse is beginning to receive the
public attention it desperately needs. Forty years after child abuse and domestic violence first entered
mainstream of the publics eye, elder abuse, which attacks all demographic, geographic, and economic
populations on earth is finally making headway. Studies have shown that elder abuse is severely
underreported with about 10% of all elderly being subjected to some form of abuse and an estimated
less than half of these cases ever get reported (B. J., Holroyd Leduc, 2012). The American dreams
includes that we believe in the right to live free of abuse, neglect and exploitation and violence
regardless of age, gender, race and economic standing.
Statement of Problem According to Gibson and Qualls (2012) victims of elder abuse are usually, white
widowed females ages 70 to 89, however anybody can be affected. The first step is understanding

Globalization Film Essay s
Captain Philips
March 28, 2016
Challenging Globalization One of the most important challenges facing the world today is
globalization (Lewis, Martin and others, 4). In the film, Captain Philips, globalization is tested, and
pushed past its limits. The film is a great example of how a situation can take a turn for the worst if
globalization is not allowed. The movie has little number of symbols, but they are significant. In the
film, globalization can be viewed as a big picture, and be narrowed down between to people. In
addition, globalization shapes the character together, and then pushes them down different paths. The
process of globalization in Captain Philips can be viewed as one big picture. ... Show more content on

Throughout the film the pirate leader Muse and Captain Philips change is the same way. They both
start out strong and prepared. Both captains also have some of the same ethics. They both are hard
workers wanting to get their job done the fast, and the easiest way possible. As the pirates attack,
Muse and Philips are shaped the same way. They want what is best for them and their people. This
shows globalization because even though the captains are different nationalities, they both want to
connect with one another making the situation better for them and there people. As the film continues
the shaping of the two characters change. Philips succeeded in getting his crew out of harm s way, but
Muse and his band of pirates are still in danger with the Navy. This action ends up shaping the
characters in different direction. Philips can have some sort of piece knowing that his crew members
are out of harm s way. Muse on the other hand is still in intense negotiations with Navy leaving him
worried and frustrated. This example shows that if globalization is allowed thing get better as a whole,

Analysis Of West Of Memphis
The scales of justice are rarely in balance. In West of Memphis , imperfection within the criminal
justice system is used as a central theme. Imperfection can be defined as an unsatisfactory feature.
Similarly, town fervor, which puts additional pressure on investigators to swiftly come up with
answers, bible belt politics, namely, devil worshiping, celebrity clout, which leads to freedom from
prison, as result, show imperfection in the criminal justice system as a central theme. Firstly, murder is
a crime which carries a distinctive reaction from the public at large. Moreover, when it is the murder

specific kind of distinction. The triple murder occurred in Arkansas. This state, along with several
others is considered the bible belt of America. This moniker can be directly attributed to Judeo
Christian roots. As such, a religious lens is used to interpret how life unfolds. In this case it is used to
explain the triple murder. From the beginning, investigators look into satanic cults. Satanic cults were
a hot button issue in the 1990 s, as more dark imagery was used in videos games, movies and music.
The crime is attributed to cultism, as it captured the zeitgeist for individuals during the decade long
stretch. The film shows a book owned by one of the accusers. The subsequent scene juxtaposes the
book and its dark writing with the families of the slain in the stands, essentially comparing darkness to
the light. Godliness, compared devil worshiping. Investigators use the book as evidence, because of

Bound Feet And Western Dress Character Analysis
Bound Feet Western Dress is a book written by Pang Mei Natasha Chang that begins in her family
home in Connecticut as she shuffles through a carved mahogany trunk from China that held the
secrets of China. Inside are her grandmother s embroidered silk lounging robes, grandfathers tuxedo,
white dinner jackets and jodhpurs, aprons of her amah, Xu Ma, and cheongsams that she had learned
to fold from her father. Finally, she finds the black cheongsam like dress that once belonged to her
great aunt Yu I and goes to tell the story of her life in traditional China as it was merging with Western
tradition and becoming modern. Throughout the book, Yu I tells of many old Chinese traditions. In
China, women were only meant to please men. If a family had a daughter, they were considered guests
and were later carted off for marriage by fourteen. Uneducated women were considered more
obedient, so parents often did not let their daughters learn anything other than their duty to their state,
family, and husband. By the age of four, boys were no longer allowed to play and began to learn. They
were given special tutoring and were required to learn and memorize the books they were taught
because their father or their tutor would make them recite what they had read. The Chang s last names
were a poem that changed every generation and when the poem ended, it would restart with the next
generation. Their poem was chia kuo pang ming which translates to fine kingdom, bright country

  • 2. Hamlet Soliloquy Act 3 Scene 3 Essay Hamlet Soliloquy Act 3 Scene 3 Hamlet has just watched Claudius praying for forgiveness in the church and has been hiding and waiting for his chance to kill him. Now might I do it pat, now he is praying; And now I ll do t. And so he goes to heaven; And so am I revenged. That would be scann d: Hamlet is saying that if he kills his uncle while he is praying, will his father be avenged because as he is confessing his sins to god if hamlet killed him then he would go straight to heaven and his father would not be avenged A villain kills my father; and for that, I, his sole son, do this same villain send To heaven. By so doing it was believed that the sins of the dead person would be absorbed and the deceased would have clear passage to the hereafter. Hamlet could be saying that his father may have been full of sins but he did not even get his sins atoned by having them eaten by a sin eater. And how his audit stands who knows save heaven? But in our circumstance and course of thought, Hamlet says that only heaven knows how many sins you have commited throughout your life and if you have atoned for them and when they add up how many of those sins you have that is the deciding factor to see whether you go to heaven or hell. Tis heavy with him: and am I then revenged, To take him in the purging of his soul, When he is fit and season d for his passage? No! Hamlet thinks again is it better for me to teke him when he is full of sin or is it better for me to take him when he has atoned for his sins, of course it is the latter one because then his father would truly be avenged as his uncle would go to hell. He is very final when he says no because Claudius killed Hamlet s father while Hamlet Sr was still carrying his sin therefore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Global Warming Warming Global warming is the gradual increase in the overall temperature of the Earth s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants (Collins). The current climate changes that are occurring all over the world have sparked a growing controversy on whether global warming is true or false. Many of these individuals who play a role in this controversy argue that the current climate changes are simply part of the cycles seen in the earth s geological history or that it is simply caused by an increase in the brightness of the sun. This point of view is understandable as humanity is dependent on the climate for survival. However, many climatologists and scientists have found that the current climate changes are much more worrisome than previous climate changes. They have found that carbon dioxide (CO2) levels have increased over the years because of an increase in the use of coal, oil, and gas and that the Earth s current pattern of warming is greater and faster than that of prehistoric warming episodes. The first argument many individuals would make against global warming is that the current climate changes are simply part of the cycles seen in the earth s geological history. Global warming would easily be proven correct if Earth s temperature had been stable for the majority of its geological history. However, for over two million years, during the Ice Ages, Earth s temperature rose and fell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Allusions In The Hollow Men T.S. Eliot s The Hollow Men is a broad allegory for trying to find deliverance in a landscape reminiscent of purgatory. Eliot provides examples of allusion and imagery to describe a fully realized apocalyptic scenario that affirms the hopelessness of people vacant in spirit. The poem is in five sections, narrated by the forsaken hollow men. The speakers are a paradox stuffed with straw and empty at the same time. Before the first section are two allusions: literary and historical. Mistah Kurtz he dead is reference to Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Kurtz was a man who had lost his humanity after traveling to Africa and succumbing to insanity. A penny for the old Guy is a question traditionally asked by children on November 5th in England. The question references Guy Fawkes, a British rebel infamous for his involvement in the Gunpowder Plot , set to assassinate King James I. In addition to Inferno, the poem alludes to Paradiso; described in line 64, the awe inspiring multifoliate rose appears as a twilight kingdom another distant release the hollow men long for, yet is impossible for them to attain. Cite evidence from H200 to support your answer. MAJ James E. Curlee Jr. Staff Group 13D 04JAN13 Why was Germany unable to translate tactical and operational victories into strategic success during World War II? More pointedly and stated simpler, why did Germany loose World War II? Why Germany lost the war (despite its early tactical successes) is a simple question with a complex answer. Because Hitler s vision did not translate into an effective strategic plan, with clear strategic objectives a disconnect between what Germany wanted to achieve (ends), the way it wanted to achieve it (ways), and the resources it would choose to utilize (means) was created. As such, it is this disconnection that also played a large role in Germany s failure to translate its tactical and operational victories into strategic success and overall victory. Examples of this disconnect and the calamitous effects are clearly present in a quick analysis of the Battle of Britain. During the Battle of Britain, Germany wanted to achieve air superiority but ultimately failed to defeat the Royal Air Force (RAF). Hitler ordered the Lufwaffe to destroy the RAF in preparation for Operation Sealion which was Germany s invasion plan for Britain. Although numerous factors contributed to Hitler s decision to attack Britain, in keeping with his one front at a time war methodology, Hitler wanted to secure the Western Front prior to invading the Soviet Union. Initially, directed by Hermann Goering (commander in chief of the Lufwaffe) Germany targeted Britain s coastal areas and convoys, airports, and vital British air warning and radar ... • 10. Laws Affecting The Agency Of The United States Postal Service Laws Affecting The Agency When it comes to The United States Postal Service, I did not think they would have many court cases, especially dealing with diversity and mistreatment in the workplace. During my research, however, I was proven wrong. The Postal Service has had quite a few court cases, while many of them relate to ethical and discriminatory issues. Individuals have felt that the Postal Service sometimes judge applicants or workers by their lifestyle or ethnicity. This in turn shows bad representation of personnel management. One case that shows proof of this is the United States Postal Service v. Aikens. Harold Aikens, who was a black employee of the USPS, opened a case against his job being that he felt he was not receiving promotions because of his ethnicity. This is a direct violation of Title VII if found to be true. According to the USPS, Aikens applied for a promotion for which he possessed the minimum qualifications, and that the employer selected a nonminority applicant, the parties and the Court of Appeals have unnecessarily evaded the ultimate question of discrimination... (Bartholet 1982). Ultimately, the court upheld that Aikens did not in fact present a valid prima faci case, which the plaintiff creates a belief that the employer discriminated against him, and have evidence that backs up his claim. The company has several advantages over its rivals, such as it provides delivery services at a lower cost of up to 20% over FedEx and UPS; it operates the nation s only privately owned foreign trade zone in Wilmington; it is more flexible and provides more customer tailored services. However, it has a limited popularity just among residential customers because it is inefficient in package tracking and has a much worse on time delivery record. • 12. Illegal Immigrants Are Good For The Economy Of The United... Throughout the history of independent United States, the country has attracted immigrants from different parts of the world. Illegal immigrants form the larger proportion of the immigrants into the United States. Policy analysts, government officials, as well as scholars have sought to ascertain the political, social, and economic impacts of the illegal immigrants (Hanson 11). Particularly, there has been raging debate regarding the economic impact of illegal immigration to the United States of America. It has become a matter of debate and study as it relates considerably to the nation s politics and economy. At the centre of this debate is the question of whether illegal immigrants are good or bad to the economy of the United States (Dudley 18). Various studies have shown that majority of the United States citizens think that illegal immigrants are bad for the nation s economy. However, there are those who believe that they are good for the economy. Several surveys show that there is consensus among many economists that both legal and illegal immigration is good for the economy as it provides cheap labor, gives net boost to the economy, reduce the cost of goods and services, and widens the market for goods and services (Kenney 23). This paper will discuss illegal immigration and its impact on the economy. In general terms, illegal immigrants are defined as all individuals who are foreign born and are non American citizens and who are not the legal residents of the nation. ... • 13. Self Esteem And Self Diversity Community is a congregation of human beings where they share the same symbols and experiences as well as language (Grady, 1994). Individuals, objects and spaces are all tied into one by the community. Community does not depend on a certain location or area, it depends on the unity of the individuals who live there (Grady, 1994). The community provides familiarity with daily interactions among individuals and creates a sense of belonging. A sense of belonging in a community provides the comfort and safety required to discover and utilize one s gifts (Grady, 1994). The foundation of self esteem and self acceptance starts with a sense of belonging in the community (Grady, 1994). When an individual has a sense of belonging within the community, they feel included. Inclusion is allowing all individuals to participate in natural environments regarding their differences (Grady, 1994). Feeling included in the community is important, especially to those who have a disability. The health profession, occupational therapy, strives for inclusion in the community for people who have disabilities and those who do not. The sense of belonging is important to an individual s self esteem, specifically those who have a disability, and is used in the health field of occupational therapy. Essay on Opposites Attract in Antony and Cleopatra Opposites Attract in Antony and Cleopatra William Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is a play that is centred around a pair of historical lovers from two distinct cultures, Mark Antony from Rome and Queen Cleopatra from Egypt. The Roman and Egyptian cultures have vastly different norms and social ideas that are almost complete polar opposites in nature. These conflicting views are instrumental in the way that Cleopatra and Antony act. These two characters are so great in their respective societies that they serve as models to look to, although Antony may not be everybody s perfect vision of what a Roman should be. It is also important to look at not only what these two characters think of their cultures, but what cultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to this way of designating the two title characters, Anne Barton has compiled a list of expressions used to describe Cleopatra and Antony. She first discusses references to Antony: In the course of the tragedy, Antony is called the noble Antony, the courteous Antony, the firm Roman, Mars, a mine of bounty, the triple pillar of the world, the demi atlas of this earth, the lord of lords, of infinite virtue, the crown o the earth, and the garland of the war. These are only a few of the celebratory epithets. He is also poor Antony, a libertine, the abstract of all faults that all men follow, a gorgon, a sworder, an old ruffian, a doting mallard, the ne er lust wearied Antony, and a strumpet s fool. (47) All of the honorific titles given to Antony suggest to the audience that he is indeed more than a mortal man. Even in the titles given to Antony that are less than respectful, he is still seen as something other than an average human being. Yet do not forget the $500 Apple mini sub compact laptop or the Apple iBook laptop that sells for $650, and the stripped down $400 after rebate laptops companies like Gateway and eMachine are flooding the market with to make money on volume of sales instead of a high price margin. The problem is even if the price of PCs plummets the effect is not felt immediately, because people do not rush to change their PC despite the fact they are getting it cheaper, which means the PC turnover rate is low like most durable goods. That might be what is contributing to the declining of prices, as the assumption of the manufacturers might be that if the price goes low enough people might want to change their computer to avail themselves the latest add ons. Even the add ons themselves seem to have reached their zenith some time ago and the latest most alluring gadget that came into existence was CD/DVD RW and every reasonably priced desktop or laptop is equipped with it. However, it does not mean the makers of PCs are not coming up with new functionality, add ons, and price reductions to woo buyers. Richard Wasserstrom in Sex Roles and the Ideal Society states that in an assimilationist ideal society, a person s sex should be as unimportant as eye color is in our society today.1 But should we just ignore a person s sex all together to make the world equal? A different opinion from Phyllis Schlafly in The Power of the Positive Woman states that sex should be a relevant factor in family roles and social roles.² But should a person s sex completely dictate what they can or cannot do within their family and in society? In this paper I will argue that Wasserstrom s ideal society will not work because I think that eventually humans would naturally make general gender roles based on the different activities that each sex excels in. I agree, to some extent, with Schlafly s that sex should be a relevant factor with reference to roles in the family and society. In my ideal society, there would be a balance in social and family roles, which would be based on an individual s personal strengths and weaknesses. In this utopia, complete equality is possible, unlike in Wasserstrom s and Schlafly s. Wasserstrom s supports the conclusion that to allocate social roles to individuals based on their sex is inherently unjust. He goes through different arguments as to why he thinks we should do away with sex roles. One argument was that within these roles are not the behaviors we would be naturally, but due to these ...
