Twelve Years A Slave Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Twelve Years A Slave" presents a multifaceted challenge that
goes beyond the standard difficulties associated with essay writing. This particular subject
demands a deep engagement with historical, social, and ethical dimensions, as well as a nuanced
understanding of the narrative itself.
To begin with, one must delve into the harrowing experiences depicted in Solomon Northup's
memoir, grappling with the profound injustices of slavery and the personal struggles faced by the
protagonist. Analyzing the cultural and historical context of the antebellum South is essential for
providing a comprehensive backdrop to the narrative. Moreover, addressing the impact of the
book on the abolitionist movement and its relevance to contemporary discussions on race and
human rights adds another layer of complexity to the essay.
Crafting a well-structured and insightful essay requires the ability to synthesize information
from various sources, including literary analyses, historical accounts, and critical perspectives.
Balancing empathy and objectivity in the discussion of such a sensitive topic is crucial to avoid
oversimplification or misrepresentation.
Moreover, the essay must weave a coherent narrative that explores the intricacies of the author's
storytelling techniques, character development, and thematic elements. Analyzing the rhetorical
devices used by Northup to convey his experiences and convey the urgency of the abolitionist
message adds an additional layer of difficulty.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Twelve Years A Slave" is a formidable task that demands a
comprehensive understanding of historical, literary, and ethical dimensions. Successfully
navigating these challenges requires meticulous research, critical thinking, and a nuanced
approach to storytelling. For those seeking assistance with such intricate essays or any other

Carelessness In The Great Gatsby
Noone cares when anyone dies, this thought occurs in both The Great Gatsby and
anyone lived in a pretty how town. The 1920 s when both of these pieces were
written was a very careless time, to hide from the reality of the war and people were
very careless with its outcomes. F. Scott Fitzgerald author of The Great Gatsbyand
E.E. Cummings, author of anyone lived in a pretty how town convey similar themes
of loveand carelessness through the use of tone, imagery, and symbolism. Both
selections reveal that carelessness corrupts people and that people believe they can
only find satisfaction and love in a relationship. The tone throughout the novel of The
Great Gatsby is portrayed through the narration of Nick Carraway. Nick changes...

Examples of imagery that show the carelessness of the people in this poem are,
spring summer autumn winter (Cummings ln 3) and, sun moon stars rain
(Cummings ln 8). This imagery was repeated throughout the poem and shows the
changelessness of time. No matter how much time changed, things never changed
and people were still careless. The poem tells a love story and also a sad story
using anyone and noone to symbolize, figuratively, a person and ,literally,
everyone. The quote, One day anyone died i guess (and noone stooped to kiss his
face) (Cummings ln 25,26) shows figuratively the love story of a person named
anyone dying and his wife noone stopping to kiss his face. It also shows the sad and
careless story of how literally when anyone died noone stopped to kiss his face
because no one cared that he had

Descriptive Essay About The Cheesecake Factory
Maram AlBaharna 9A
Despite the name of this magnificent restaurant, the expectations of The Cheesecake
Factory only serving dessert were false, however they offer a wide variety of
different cuisine that satisfies your cravings. Many branches are available worldwide,
I was grateful to visit the one located at the ground floor of Avenues Mall, Kuwait. I
was amazed to find an incredibly varied menu, with the most fascinating,
mouthwatering dishes; everything was available from appetizers to main courses,
sides and definitely, dessert. This restaurant offers international cuisine, look no
further for the perfect restaurant. Open at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Words were not able to describe how heavenly and extraordinary this dessert.
Blissful, it will never fail to impress anyone. The chocolate melting in my mouth, as
the silky soft chocolate mousse balanced the soft and silky. The cake was moist,
well crafted, and was worth every bit of calories dripping of it. It was the most
bittersweet experience, the taste was savory. It is smooth and rich, leaves you longing
for another bite. Tantalizes your taste buds, caresses your mouth before gliding down
your throat to take you to seventh heaven.
Kindly, the waitress that has served us would check in between times to see if any
assistance was needed, perfect cuisine with perfect service. Gratefully, the food had
arrived very quickly, few minutes after we ordered. Ever since she struck my eyes,
I took her for a very friendly and ambitious waitress, and as I said, she had done her
job more than perfectly. This restaurant has surely met beyond expectations, the
prices were reasonable compared to the huge portions they have served. As tasty and
delicious the food was, I would not recommend anyone going there who has a diet,
because the food was so very high in calories. However, I did catch a glimpse of low

Atomic Theory In The Late 1800 s
An atom is made of a nucleus accommodating protons and neutrons (Atomic
Structure Prezi). An atom is the particle that retains the properties of an element.
Atoms are spherically shaped, mostly empty space, and are made up of three
fundamental subatomic particles, the electron, proton, and neutron (Atomic
Structure Prezi). Protons are of a positive charge, electrons are negatively charged
and neutrons are neutral. Atomic theory is the theory that all matter is made up of
tiny indivisible particles also known as atoms (Notes). In the late 1800 s a chemist
and inventor named Dmitri Mendeleev published the very first version of the
periodic table. The periodic table is a table of chemical elements that are arranged in
order of atomic numbers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A series of Cathode Ray experiments were held to study the effects of both magnetic
and electric fields. These experiments determined the ratio of its charge to its mass.
He concluded that they weren t rays but that they were very light, very small
negatively charged particles aka corpulse or more commonly known as electrons
(Crash Course Video). Thomson also concluded that the mass of the charged particle
was less than the mass of a Hydrogen atom. This proved that there was a particle
smaller than an atom. Thomson tried to answer questions about the nature of atoms
using a model, this model was called the Plum Pudding Model (Atomic Structure
Prazi). This model depicted the atom as a spherical shape composed of uniformly
distributed positively charged electrons
Friar In Romeo And Juliet
Friars, which are similar to nuns, are known for their benevolence, righteousness,
and helpfulness. As a Friar, one is agreeing to serve society. Their central duty and
purpose is to help those in need. Along with their helpfulness is their intelligence
due to their extensive education. They also have a high sense of morality as
members of a religious order. Accordingly, these virtues are possessed by the
character of Friar Lawrence from William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. The
Friar spends the entire story assisting the other characters in some way, whether it be
with his advice or with his inventive plans. He is a pivotal character in the story as
his well meaning attempts to help Romeo and Juliet unfortunately lead to the demise

marry Paris and their wedding is planned to take place in only a few days. Friar
Lawrence thinks outside of the box and devises a scheme that will fool others into
thinking that Juliet is dead so that she will not have to marry Paris. The fact that
the Friar came up with such a plan under such short notice shows that he is a quick,
but careful thinker. Later, Friar Lawrence is told that Romeo was not aware of his
plan yet and reacts, Romeo hath no notice of these accidents/... [I will] keep her at

Romeo telling him that Juliet is not actually dead, but he has not gotten this note
yet, so he believes his love has died. Friar Lawrence is aware of the love between
the two and knows that this mistake could result in Romeo harming himself, so he
must fix this immediately. The Friar is clever enough to quickly rethink his plan in
order to save Romeo from himself. The Friar uses his qualities of intelligence and

Mr. Walsh, the plaintiffs attorney, is presenting the issue of actual knowledge of
intoxication. Mr. Walsh is arguing against summary judgment based on two reasons.
First, Indiana Courts have held that when a reasonable inference of evidence and
circumstances of a case could result in more than one conclusion, summary
judgment is inappropriate. Second, the jury could infer that the bartender had
actual knowledge of the visible intoxication of Mr. Hard when he last served him
alcohol. Ms. Babot is arguing against summary judgment based on approximate
cause due to three reasons. First, there are reasonable inferences that a jury could
make in favor of the plaintiff. Second, the injuries to Mrs. White were the
reasonable and foreseeable consequences of serving an intoxicated patron. Thirdly, a
criminal can be the intervening act that does not break the chain of causation
because the act is reasonably foreseeable. Ms. Babot listed four factors that a judge
has to look at when considering approximate. What and how much alcohol was
consumed, what is the amount of time it was served in, the conditions of the patron
before leaving the bar, and the condition of the patron immediately after leaving (03

been able to view how the brain reacts to solve the mysterious of modern day

Metropolis
The 1927 German expressionism film Metropolis was a landmark German film. The
definition of German Expressionism is a cultural movement that is challenging to
define as it is not distinguished by a singular style or method of creation. German
Expressionism is used through movies for which often contain themes that are dark,
bland and robotic. These movies also contain poor acting, excessive makeup, strange
costumes and storylines with poor lighting and extreme stylization. In the first shot of
Metropolis, at the start of the filmthe workers enter looking down and walking slowly
like robots which represents German Expressionism. The camera doesn t move and it
is fixed on the entry to the factory while the angles change between shots the
workers seem to be more and more robotic, producing a balanced image between
the workers marching and where the workers and walking which is the massive city
shown as they exit the lift. Many scenes in the film are also centred by the camera.

The workers seem to be controlled in this scene as they work and work. When the
camera moves to the workers, their actions are very alike to that of the robotic
machines, giving that description of a robotic utopia. This scene quickly turns
dark and to horror as the machine breaks and something happens as many of the
workers are severely injured or even perhaps dead. The workers are still working
mindlessly while they take their colleagues away, this happens and the workers don t
seem to have any motion while this event unfolds either. Lang most likely did this to
show that the robots are in control of the workers in the depths and how alike to the
machines the men are. Metropolis is created like this to draw influences like this

The Future Like Ours Don Marquis Analysis
An Analysis of Strengths and Weaknesses of FLO in Don Marquis s An Argument
that Abortion is Wrong
Don Marquis in his article An Argument that Abortion is Wrong sets forth an
argument that, except in rare cases, abortion is wrong. Two of Marquis s main points
against abortion are The Future Like Ours Account for the Wrongness of Killing and
The Appeal to Cases Argument. In these sections of his article, Marquis argues that
killing anyone, including a fetus, is wrong when it robs that individual of the
opportunity to have a future like ours (FLO). Marquis argues in The Future Like
Ours Account for the Wrongness of Killing that [p]remature death is a misfortune,
in general, because it deprives an individual of a future of value. (Marquis 755) A
Future Like Ours is described by Marquis as the opportunity to have a future of
value. Every individual should hves the opportunity to have a future of value, thus
one issue of abortion is whether fetuses should be allowed to have a future like ours .
Marquis does state the level of misfortune varies between different deaths because of
the underlying premise of being deprived of a future conscious life. To show the...

detail throughout the article to put more emphasis on the central theme of the
argument. With this addition, it would have shown how each sub point tied into to
the argument against abortion. Marquis s argument against abortion is logically and
irrefutably sound because of his argument that fetuses should have the right to a

Essay on Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill
As humans, much of our lives are based around social interaction. We are taught to
live through various means of socialization from the time of our birth . Without this
socialization and interaction among each other we can become very disillusioned
and confused about how to function as a part of society. One would tend to isolate
ourselves, exiled in this place we call the world. In Katherine Mansfield s short story
Miss Brill, one such person, herself a kind of outcast of society, creates a fantasy
worldin which she is at the center. Miss Brill is the story of a woman battling with
loneliness. She partakes in a ritual in which every Sunday she would spend the entire

In an attempt to make her life seem more important and extravagant than it really is,
one can understand furthermore Brill s pathetic nature. This defines Brill s character
as one of an idealist, making everyone and everything seem alive and interesting. She
seems to be loosing a sense of reality and her idea what is important is somewhat
warped.
Miss Brill intricately observes every little detail of the happenings around her
illustrating the extent to which she has lost a grasp on reality. She makes note of
everything from attire and attitudes, to body language and actions. Brill takes a
kind of pride in her ability to eavesdrop. They were odd, silent, nearly all old, and
from the way they stared they looked as though they d just come from dark little
rooms or even little cupboards! (Mansfield 99). Miss Brill excludes herself from
the rest of the people. Even when elderly people come into view, she quickly
distances herself from them as though different when in fact she too is old and
resides in a cupboard of her own. Brill associates and relates herself to only the
younger and more attractive people. The people which society deems the most
acceptable. Now everything, her hair, her face, even her eyes , was the same color as
the shabby ermine, and her hand, in its cleaned glove, lifted to dab her lips, was a
tiny yellowish paw. Oh, she was so pleased to see him delighted! (Mansfield 98) Miss

Mrs Mallard Symbolism
The Story of an hour by Kate Chopin is a short story that takes place in the late
1800s. This short story is about Mrs. Mallard, a lady with diagnosed heart trouble,
being told of her husbands death, and showing the way she interprets and reacts due
to this lost. A theme that is present in this short story is the confinement s of marriage.
Kate Chopinuses the imagery of Mrs.Mallards mindset after the discovery of her
husbands death, symbols such as that of Mrs. Mallards heart illness, and both the
ironic situation and dramatic irony of Mrs. Mallards death at the sight of her
husband to contribute to this subject on marriage as a whole. The author uses
positive imagery for Mrs. Mallards reflection on the loss of her husband, something
that would usually be projected in a negative connotation. Imagery that projects the
image of someone becoming released from something terrible, in this case
Mrs.Mallard being released from the restraints of marriage. She presents an image of

most important symbol in this piece, is that of Mrs.Mallards heart illness. This
symbolizes more than one meaning. It represents Mrs. Mallards unhappiness of
marriage, and presents marriage as actually bringing her closer to death. It also
represents Mrs. Mallards loss of affection, not being able to handle serious or
traumatic situations, a loss of love, symbolized through that of a frail heart. These
symbols contribute to the authors views on marriage, showing it as something that is
a burden on someone s life, rather than what marriage is usually projected as,

Mark Twain Thesis
Samuel L. Clemens Many people have read books by the famous author Mark
Twain. A few of his most famous novels are The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,
Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and Jim Smiley and his Jumping Frog. Hearing the
name Mark Twain rings a bell, but surprisingly, that is not the author s real name.
His given name is Samuel Clemens. Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born
November 30, 1835, in Florida, Missouri, and he was the sixth child of John and
Jane Clemens. His father was always searching for wealth, but he never achieved it,
and he often times found it hard to feed his family. He had many jobs, and he was a
surly, unsmiling man. According to one legend, young Samuel never saw his dad

became a reporter for the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise, where he adopted the
pen name Mark Twain. That is steamboat slang for 12 feet of water. Mark Twain
became one of the best storytellers in the West, and he had this distinct writing
style, where everything was funny and friendly, but also scornful, ironic, and
sarcastic. He wrote Jim Smiley and his Jumping Frog, earning his big break. His
next jump into success came from his cruise along the Mediterranean, where he
wrote humorously for newspaper, also hoping to get a book out of the trip. At the
age of 34, he published The Innocents Abroad, and he became a best selling author.
Twain s stories are shaped by life experiences. Some influences come from
Hannibal, where he saw how slaves and Native Americans were treated. Huck Finn
is an orphan who travels with a freed slave named Jim. Another experience, such as
the fact that his father and a few of his siblings died when he was young, shaped his
writing of Huckleberry Finn. Young Huck Finn experiences death at a young

The Disadvants Of George Washington And Benedict Arnold
I have learned to hate all traitors, and there is no disease I spit on more than
treachery. Aeschylus once wrote. What is the character of a traitor? Who does
society consider a traitor? How do people become traitors? All of these are good
questions that provoke conversation and debate. The mentality of a traitor stems from
his or her desires and what they need. In the following comparison of George
Washingtonand Benedict Arnold the true character of a traitor will be revealed, as
well as how heroes are made, what qualifies as betrayal, and the attributes of the true
traitor. Washington and Arnold were both men of valor on the field of battle, as they
fought desperately for the cause of freedom. If they did indeed betray, then where did
they go wrong and what caused these actions?
It is true both Washington and Arnold were traitors. The question is, who did they
betray? First, we must explore how these men became heroes. In the French and
Indian war, Lieutenant Colonel George Washington fought for the British army. In
1754, the newly appointed Washington was sent to a post in what is now Pittsburg.
Before arriving at the fort, it was surrendered to the French. Washington, always
quick to think on his feet, set up a new outpost just forty miles away which was
named Fort Necessity. He then ambushed a forward detachment of 30 French
soldiers marking the first bloodshed of the war. On July 3rd the French came upon
Fort Necessity and after a full day of fighting young

Characters such as Micky mouse, Donald duck, Bugs bunny and Daffy Duck were
shown on television screens in many homes. These characters and their crazy

Cartoonists created cartoons that shaped what was known as Saturday morning
cartoons . There were also a lot of governing bodies such as the Hayes code (1930 to
1968) which kept cartoons innocent and ensured that adult themes were kept out of
cartoons, epically those appearing on television, this brought about a decline in adults
watching cartoons as most cartoons at the time were too simple minded and not
complex enough for adults. However the comic book industry still thrived and was
aimed at a slightly older audience.
Later on in the 1960 s Hanna Barbera created cartoons such as Scooby doo, the
Flintstones and the Jetsons. These cartoons had more dialogue than the average
cartoons, contained more clever and witty jokes and were well suited for an adult
as well as a younger audience. They focused on the average family and showed
some of the issues faced in family life. Some argue that the Flintstones was the first
mainstream adult cartoon to go on air. The Flintstones was originally aimed at an

Shaun Callarman s Into The Wild
Into The Wild was a tremendous story which Shaun Callarman did not have many
positive things to say about Chris McCandless, the main character. He went on this
adventure to find out what life is all about in his own eyes. He wanted to see how
different living in the wild really was compared to society because he was not
satisfied with his living arrangements and household. Shaun s quote says that he
thinks Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time. He had no

He made a lot of mistakes based on arrogance. I don t admire him at all for his

Intelligent Satire in Voltaire s Candide Essay
Intelligent Satire in Candide
In the story Candide, Voltaire uses the experiences of the character Candide and
dialogue between characters to dispute the theory by other philosophers that
Everything is for the best in this best of all possible worlds (Voltaire). Voltaire
believed that the society that he lived in had many flaws, flaws which are illustrated
throughout the story. Voltaire uses satire to take aim at the military

societies emphasis of physical beauty, to illustrate that we do not live in the best of
all possible worlds.
One institution that Voltaire takes aim at in Candide is the institution of the military.

Religion also comes under satirical attack in Candide. Voltaire uses Candide s
experiences to illustrate hypocrisy within the church. In chapter 24 of Candide,
brother Giroflee tells Candide that his life as a monk is miserable. Brother
Giroflee tells Candide that he was forced into his position as a monk, which gives
the underlying message that members of the clergy are not truly dedicated to God.
Brother Giroflee also makes the statement, Jealousy, faction, and fury spring up, by
natural law, within the walls of convents (Voltaire 1602). Voltaire demonstrates his
view that monks and nuns no better than the common sinner. From the standpoint
that we live in the best of all possible worlds, the ideas of jealousy, faction, and fury
should have no place inside the walls of convents. This is a round about way for
Voltaire to say that we do not live in the best of all possible worlds.
Voltaire also illustrated in Candide that society as a whole places more emphasis on
physical appearance than on inner beauty. Throughout much of the story, Candide is
obsessed with the idea of being reunited with Cunegonde. Candide speaks of how
beautiful his future bride is and of how much he really loves her. As the story
concludes, Candide is reunited with Cunegonde only to find that she has become
ugly. Candide has a change of heart and
1850 s Economic Perspective
Thesis The economic perspective of an adolescent period of American History
1850 1900 is filled with opportunity, drama, and great success and it leaves us with
its reticence today. Technology, great and not so great individuals, governmental
applications, and the effects of the business cycle all contributed to the mix. Each
of these played a part of the great success and or the great undoing of each other
over the course of time. The 1850 s were an incredible beginning to a period in our
nations economic history and in my opinion were the beginning of an era of
adolescence. Our counties body, brain, and emotions were growing at different rates
and at times, had to catch up to each other. Whether or not they caught up to each
other is still... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

From the 13.000 ports installed in the digital switches, only 6.200 have been sold
until end of 2005. Six years after the implementation of the service in the network,
and being in the company s product portfolio, the number of customers using ISDN
service is less than 1.2% from the total number of customers. Although the company
introduced the service almost at the same time as other telecom operators in Europe,
the number of users in others countries is significantly higher (28% in Slovenia, 10%
in Hungary, 32% in Germany). The disproportion is evident. The sales of ISDN in
the Company are a problem.
Ron (2000) stated: Since ISDN is digital service and capable of high rates of speed
over the same pair of copper wires that service the POTS infrastructure, combining
voice and data over a common medium, results in improved service capacity and
higher quality (p.70).
Although ISDN is a digital service and should result in higher quality, the
perception of MakTel customers of ISDN as a poor service quality is one of the
biggest problems for increasing the sales.
According to the faults statistics for 2005, on existing 6200 ISDN subscribers were
reported more than 2400 faults. In the previous years, the ratio between the number of
subscribers and the faults reported was

In the short story Through the Tunnel by Doris Lessig, the main character Jerry
teaches the reader that you can achieve your goals if you put dedication towards
them, because he puts his time into exercising his lungs so he can stay underwater,
and he also does not give up even when he does too much and his nose begins
bleeding. Again and again he rose, took a big chestful of air, and went down.
Again and again he groped over the surface of the rock, feeling it, almost hugging
it in the desperate need to find the entrance . (3) Jerry, the eleven year old boy,

The Largest Private Industry Of India And Second Largest...
Retailing is the largest private industry in India and second largest employer after
agriculture. This sector contributes to around 10 per cent of GDP and 6 7 per cent of
employment. With over 15 million retail outlets, India has the highest retail outlet
density in the world. This sector witnessed significant development in the past 10
years from small unorganized family owned retail formats to organized retailing.
Liberalization of the economy, rise in per capita income and growing consumerism
have encourage larger business houses and manufactures to set up retail formats; real
estate companies and venture capitalist are investing in retail infrastructure. Many
foreign retailers have also entered the market through different routes such as
wholesale cash and carry, local manufacturing, franchising, test marketing, etc. With
the growth in organized retailing, unorganized retailers are fast changing their
business models and implementing new technologies and modern accounting
practices to face competition (Andrews, 2003).
Traditionally, Indian retail sector has been characterized by the presence of a large
number of small unorganized retailers. With high GDP growth, increased
consumerism and liberalization of the manufacturing sector, India is being portrayed
as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) in retailing. However,
at present this is one of the few sectors, which is closed to FDI. Within the country,
there has been significant protest from
Doing History Summary
In the opening chapters of both Doing History (2013), by Michael J. Galgano, J.
Chris Arndt, and Raymond M. Hyser, and The Methods and Skills of History
(2015), by Conal Furay and Michael J. Salevouris, the authors broadly discuss what
history is, as well as the kinds and uses of historical knowledge. Doing History
focuses closely on the definition of history and the variety of approaches to studying
and using historical facts. Chapter One of The Methods and Skills of History
emphasizes upon the importance of history in society, while Chapter Two is centered
on the nature of history and the task of the historian. According to Doing History, the
study of history as a whole is an interpretation of past events based on reliable
evidence. However, there can be misuse of historical facts, such as dependence on
popular memory, or, how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Current events have a basis in historical fact and the practice of analyzing and acting
upon past experiences is all considered thinking historically. Without history, human
society would have no identity or base. Chapter Two begins by expressing what
Doing History has already stated on the definition of history. However, Methods and
Skills delves further into the nature of history by explain that a historian can shed
light on an event in history, but nobody can actually show exactly how things took
place during that event. All of history is naturally subject to the historian s point of
view and interpretations, therefore, the absolute fullest and truest version of history
is essentially unattainable. However, this fact does not negate the importance of
studying and understanding history, because historical fact is grounded in reliable,
factual evidence from the event. Consequently, historians must always be asking
questions and looking for the best possible answers for the ever evolving dialogue of
Economic, Social, and Political Problems in the Post-Civil...
Americans suffered many economic, social, and political problems in the post
Civil War era. I have identified one of each of these types of problems that I
believe were among the most important during the period of 1865 1900. The
economic issue that I believe had one of the biggest impacts on Americans at the
time is the Great Railroad Strike of 1877. The social issue that I feel greatly affected
America after the Civil War is Chinese immigration. One of the biggest political
issues, to me, is the Populist Party. I feel that the Great Railroad Strike of 1887 was a
major issue because it made Americans realize just how deeply Americans were
invested in the railroads. At the time, the biggest investment banking firm in America,

The strike lasted all of 45 days, and became to lose steam and effectively come to a
halt after President Hayes sent federal troops from city to city. There is no exact
record of the losses faced by the country during this strike, but it is reported that the
engineers and firemen s brotherhoods lost approximately $600,000 over the forty
five days of the strike, while for the Burlington Railroad the losses were at least
$2,100,000. In Pittsburgh, it was estimated that property damage reached over three
million dollars, with Chicago, Baltimore and other cities facing losses of a similar
magnitude. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Railroad_Strike) I believe that
Chinese immigration during the period after the Civil War was a very big issue
because it showed just how unwilling ordinary, white citizens were to let another
inferior race into the country. Chinese immigrants had been arriving in large
quantities starting during the mid 19th century. Most of worked as laborers, usually
on the transcontinental railroad (such as the Central Pacific Railroad) and in the
mines. They suffered racial discrimination for a long time due to industrial
employers being eager to get this new and cheap labor, but the ordinary white public
being angered by the oncoming of the so called yellow peril. Political party
gatherings, labor unions, and other organizations rallied against the immigration of

The Legend of The Chupacabra
I have decided to do my thrid quarter project on El Chupacabra . El Chupacabra is a
myth or legend centered from Puerto Rico. I have grown much interest in this
folktale. The mysterious and puzzling creature brings great interest to me. I m eager
to learn more about the Chupacabra. So with interest I believe this topic would be
the correct choice for me. It is believed that the Chupacabrawould suck the blood out
of chickens and mostly goats leaving an insightful wound right at the neck. Legend
says that El Chupacabra would hypnotize its prey leaving the animal in complete
disbelief. With no squeal from the livestock, farmers would wake the next morning
in confusion. In the 1990 s, goats and chickens started disappearing suddenly.
Local farmers would ponder the thought of losing their stock. El Chupacabra is
also referred as goat sucker in translation to Spanish (Animal Planet). While the
Chupacabra started in Puerto Rico, they have migrated moving to Mexico,Chile,
Brazil, and into the United states like Florida, Michigan, Maine, and very oddly
Oregon (Animal Planet). To have spread out to that extent, to me, is very odd.
While the Chupacabra is fairly new to us, it does date back to the 1970 s. In the 1970
s legend says in the city of Moca, Puerto Rico there was a so called vampire
(Sheppard Software). They were also referred to as livestock Predators . Whether
you believe it or not the Chupacabra reports of clean bloodless attacks remain. How?

The Rise Of Asymmetric Warfare
Question: Analyze the rise of asymmetric warfare. Provide illustrations and assess
how it has reshaped behaviors and outcomes.
The asymmetry in asymmetric warfare is an inherently relational concept. It refers to
an irregular conflict that is distinct by the relative dissimilarity between opponents in
battle. The asymmetry is derived from the character of warfare and dictated by the
difference in relational power amid warring sides. This asymmetry has tended to be
in terms of status and organization; means and resources, goals and objectives; and
strategies and tactics. The relationship between the belligerents in almost all conflicts
has varied in many tactical, strategic and operational levels.
A popular perception of today claims that there has been a relatively recent rise in
asymmetric warfare, or conventional irregular warfare that has transformed war from
a customary and symmetric exercise into an irregular, avant garde, asymmetric
experience. This perception is inherently at the foundation of the question in which
this essay attempts to respond. In contrast with this perspective, the main argument of
this essay is that asymmetric warfare, although definitely a characteristic of the times
is not a new genus of warfare that has risen in the twentieth century as a distinct
revolution in military affairs. Furthermore, asymmetric warfare cannot be used as a
description to describe deviation from Western norms in this case conflict. Rather,
asymmetric warfare

In the most general sense of the word, a concrete is a substance that solidifies to act
as glue. Romans were the first to use modern cement for purposes of masonry made
of crushed stone with vivid lime as binder. They named this substance caementicium
opus which was later referred to as cement, cimentim , cäment and cement.
Cement is mainly used in construction. It is a gray powdery substance burnt lime
and clay, mixed with water and sand to make mortar (a paste used to bind the
building blocks together and fill the spaces between them) or with water, sand and
gravel to make concrete (one strong durable construction material).

Therefore, in 1956, the government, with the help of the Industrial Development
Corporation of Pakistan (PIDC), laid the foundation for two cement units Daudkel
and Hyderabad and then more plants were established in the private sector.
These measures lead to dramatic improvement in productivity of cement, and created
opportunities to other entrepreneurs and investors to work in this sector. This step
helped in bridging the gap between demand and supply in the market. Five cement
factories were established during initial thirty years after independence with a total
capacity of 3.2 million tons despite the fact that Pakistan is rich in deposits of
limestone, clay and gypsum, which is the basic raw material for the. The situation
not only stabilized but improved enough for the country to export cement for the first
time in 1966. At that time, the government allowed 4% of local production to be
exported. This is vital, because the government did not want to create any shortage
locally. Exports amounted to about 30% of local production in 1970.
NATIONALIZATION IN BHUTTO REGIME
Bhutto s era saw the situation takes a complete turn and export Pakistan saw the
situation deteriorate to a level that Pakistan was forced to import cement to late

Muslim Female Stereotypes
The Muslim women were meeting at an old warehouse in Chicago that was being
used for a makeshift mosque on a night to do their daily prayers. On this night
Dr.Ingrid Mattson was there and the women were talking about their experiences
living here in the United States. She noticed on the way here there was a Muslim
school located in an industrial zone. This school was located in this zone because of
zoning laws and how the city won t allow the buildings to be built or where they are
built. In this zone, it was allowed to be built in an industrial zone. The background of
this womanis that they are all immigrants so the majority of this community is made

The Bridges Of Francesca Analysis
For a romance about Francesca Johnson and Robert Kincaid, The Bridges of
Madison County mentions Francesca s husband Richard a surprising number of
times. When the story begins, Italian immigrant turned farmer s wife Francesca is
home alone while her husband and teenaged children show a steer at the Illinois State
Fair. Robert, a travelling photographer assigned by National Geographic to shoot the
MadisonCounty bridges, stops by Francesca s home to ask for directions, leading to
an affair. Richard Johnson may be out of sight for much of the story, but he is often
on the minds of both Francesca and Robert. He influences their relationship from the
moment Robert Kincaids truck pulls into the driveway.

His first evening home, he asks if she is all right. She tells him nothing is wrong,
but they both know that is far from true. The next day, when Francesca sees Robert

s departure, it is likely she and Richard worked on their relationship. They were
never going to be perfect, but in the end, they lived a full life together. After
Richard s death, Francesca reflects on this. xx It was worth staying in Madison
County, but that does not mean it was perfect. In Francesca s letter, she recounts her
husband s dying words. xx No matter how hard Richard tried, he was never
everything Francesca wanted, but he wishes he could have been. Richard may never
have understood his wife, but there is no doubt he loved her deeply.
Richard Johnson, the plain farmer of Madison County, played as large a role in the
events of The Bridges of Madison County as Francesca and Robert did, though he
only appears in person on a handful of pages. He may have been out of sight often,
but he was never forgotten and his influence is one of the strongest forces driving
this story. He was not perfect, but he wanted to see Francesca happy, and in the end,
that was almost
Reflection Of A Concert Note On Music By Franz Liszt
The concert I went to was about some of the faculty members and teachers playing
music and singing songs from different times of different eras. The first piece that
was played are Classical genre, Oh! Quand Je Dors, S.282 and O Lieb, So Lang Du
Lieben Kannst! S. 298. Both pieces were composed by the composer Franz Liszt.
They were played by Eugenia Eugenia Oi Yan Yau, who played Soprano and Amber

know what to think about Eugenia s voice. Hossain 2

I was entered to listen to this piece because the composer I chose to write about
was Maurice Ravel. The meaning of this piece is Water Game . There was so
many low to high pitched, tones and melodies. I enjoyed this piece because it made
me feel like I was sitting beside a fountain and watching the water playing and falling
down to the river. Only piano was used in
Hossain 4 this piece. One thing I found a little boring about this piece was that
some part was repetitive with the same melody. The next piece was Sonata for Alto
Saxophone and Piano (2012) composed by Steven Cohen. This peace was
performed by David Wozniak (saxophone) and Howard Meltzer (piano). I felt like
there was high pitches throughout the entire piece because of the saxophone. This
piece remind me of my country weddings because the groom s family bring
saxophone bands with them in the ceremony when the groom goes to the bride s
house. To me it felt like this piece matches with my country wedding saxophone
music. The piece Paul Bunyan Mourns for Babe the Ox (2016) composed by Doug
Anderson (1950). It was performed by Charles Samuel Brown (Bass baritone) and
Make Victor Smith (piano). I think the story behind the name of this piece is
interesting and sad. What I liked about the this piece is how bass baritone was
played like he put such a long breath Hossain 5 during some lines and I think the
piano was good. It was soft and slow music
How To Tell A True War Story By Tim O Brien
Many times readers lose interest in stories that they feel are not authentic. In
addition, readers feel that fictitious novels and stories are for children and lack
depth. Tim O Brien maintains that keeping readers of fiction entertained is a most
daunting task, The problem with unsuccessful stories is usually simple: they are
boring, a consequence of the failure of imagination to vividly imagine and to vividly
render extraordinary human events, or sequences of events, is the hard lifting, heavy
duty, day by day, unending labor of a fictionwriter (Tim O Brien 623). Tim O Brien s

Difference Between Aristotle And Montaigne
Aristotle and Montaigne are two different philosophers, Aristotle is ancient
philosopher while Montaigne is a modern philosopher. Aristotle believes friendship
occurs between virtuous people and the goal is to help one another reach their
absolute best. Montaigne believes a friend is another self resulting from a fusion of
wills. The main focus of this paper is to assess Montaigne s philosophy and Aristotle
s philosophy on their view of loveand judge which view of love is more convincing
to a reasonable human being. Between Aristotle and Montaigne, Montaigne s view of
love is more convincing to a reasonable human being because friendshipis more
complex and complicated than categorizing friendship into different levels.
Aristotle s view of love is philia, while on the other hand Montaigne s view of love
is pragma. Philia is the deep comradely friendship about showing loyalty and pragma
is the deep understanding between two people. Montaigne strongly believes
friendship should be an unconstrained product of will, while Aristotle uses a rather
categorical approach to friendship, utility, pleasure, and virtue. By making strict
delineations and then using examples, he establishes a rather strict definition of
friendship that is created along lines of social class. He argues, among other things,
that friendship must be between similarly virtuous men of equal standing. In addition,
the purest form of friendship, and the one that Aristotle considers the only genuine
friendship,

All of the Sun Gods share the same birth and death sequence because in reality it s
nothing but the sun s transitioning before it shifts it s direction back into the northern

Some daycare providers have licensed caregivers. These licensed caregivers receive
special training to ensure the children are given exceptional care.

Are the toys provided age appropriate and in good shape? Ask about daily activities:
These activities should include talking, singing, dancing, reading and on the floor
playtime.
2. Security
Any daycare that you choose should have a locked door policy. This ensures that
your child cannot just roam around the neighborhood. Ideally, only staff members,
individuals touring the facility and adults who are dropping off or picking up their
children should be allowed in the center. All adult visitors need to be closely
monitored, including you!
3. Age Group Separation
Toddlers and older children should not be mingling with babies who are under the
age of 12 months. Toddlers can be highly spirited and somewhat unsteady on their
feet. In addition, they have yet to master the art of being gentle with infants.
4. A Clean, Healthy Setting
Look for a health and sanitation rules sign. This sign should address hand washing
procedures related to food preparation and diaper changes. Additionally, it should
outline the steps taken to wash and sanitize toys, feeding utensils, and pacifiers, etc.
5. A Safe Setting
Make sure there are:

The sudden sound of soft sobs awakened me from my slumber. Slithering my way

Our small town of Al Yarmouk had been threatened as the troops were approaching.
My father had decided that it would be best for us to depart from our house and head

gold jewelry and put them in a small black box. I saw my mom dig the box in the
dirt of our garden. I was puzzled as to why she chose to hide the gold outside, but
didn t think too much of it at the time. I wore my blue noise blocking headphones

not hearing the gunshots, helicopters, and explosions meant that life was still
normal. The journey to my father s family house was a bizarre experience. Glancing
over to the window I was stunned, startled, and surprised by the sight ahead of me.

Failure of the Revolution in Animal Farm Essays
The animals in the book Animal Farm hoped to achieve unity, equality. trust/truth,
prosperity, better quality of life, freedom and individuality, in terms of the revolution.
This was achieved at the beginning of the revolution, which made it a success, but in
the end the revolution was a failure.
The farm, in many ways, was very prosperous when the revolution began. The
animals were given an education, the reading and writing classes were however a
great success, which made them feel equal to the humans because they were now
learning in the same way the humans did. The farm was becoming more prosperous
in that, everyone worked according to their own capacity, which made the farm a

Singing Beasts of England continually unified the animals. Even when the animals
received no orders, without waiting for further orders, they charged forth in a body,
they unified to fight the enemy and protect their home.
The animals quality of life, did also improve for a little while. They were able to be
their own bosses, no more Jones, and worked for themselves. Since they were now
motivated, they worked harder, worked according to their own capacity, thus the
amount of food they received increased since they did not have to sell it.
This all went very well for a while, but the revolution then took a drastic downfall.
The animal s freedom and individuality was slowly taken away. Napoleon took the
dogs freedom away by making them bow, and obey him only. The animals also
began to have no freedom of speech, raised their voices timidly but they were
promptly silent by a tremendous growling, which shows us that the farm was no
longer run by all the animals but rather by the pigs, anything they say is right and
you may not argue. The animals no all had to be the same, which can be taken as
equality, but it was taken to the extreme. The animals had to call each other,
comrade, and they weren t even allowed to stick out in the smallest ways, Molly s
ribbons were taken, which was fine at first but then slowly the animals started
forgetting who they were.

The Secret to Humor is Surprise in The Weather of New...
Critical Analysis Essay The secret to humor is surprise Aristotle. The two stories I
m going to talk about The Weather of New England by Mark Twain and The Dog
That Bit People by James Thurber are both strange humorous essay with a twist.
Both stories have a central conflict, in The Dog That Bit People a family is burden
with a dog that bites everyone, including the narrator. The Weather of New
England talks about the weather of the new colonies and how spontaneous they
were and the different forms they came in. Both humorous authors use style, tone,
and perspective as a technique to tell their story and conflicts. Mark Twain uses
style in The Weather of New England , when he uses words like sumptuous and
Centennial to describe what s going on in the story. The author refers to the
weather as sumptuous saying that there are splendid and lavish varieties of the
weather of New England that cause a stranger to admire and regret or pity the
weather. He also says that the brightest gems in the New England weather is the
dazzling uncertainty. The authors uses words like dazzling to show his style. His
style is sarcastic because he makes the uncertainty of not knowing what the weathers
going to be as a good thing when really the unexpected weather is causing problems.
The author of The Dog That Bit People James Thurber on one hand uses hyperbole s
like Mark Twain ,but on the
Annotated Bibliography On Database Management Systems
The ability to store information has always been important for our survival. In the
beginning, information used to be shared by word of mouth. Then, with the
invention of writing, data slowly started to be stored in books kept in libraries, sorted
in specific order that made them easily accessible. Finally, the invention of the
computers led to the evolution of databases.
Databases are important, because thanks to them humans are able to store and later
on retrieve information. The way in which databases arise is very simple. It all
begins as a list in a word processing system. As the size of the list increases, the data
starts to appear inconsistent. If this occurs, Database Management Systems come to
help, due to the fact they can store a large amount of information in a number of
tables linked to each other. Programs such as Access are able to add new data to a
database or make changes to already existing data from the database; they are even
able to delete information.
These features assist people in analyzing and categorizing information in the
following way:
Tables lie in the core of any given database. Thanks to them, the possibility of
redundancy is greatly reduced. A database can consist of a number of different
tables which enables the researcher to break information down into smaller (and
easier to analyse) pieces. Just like spread sheets, they consist of rows (also called
records) and columns (fields). By using records, researchers are able to combine
Thomas Jefferson Grievances
While the Declaration of Independence was comprised of ideas from many different
men, Thomas Jefferson penned the famous document ( The Declaration of
Independence ). Jefferson entered the first chapter of his professional life as a
lawyer right as American colonies began buzzing with change. He never fought as a
soldier, but he did use his words as his weapons. Jefferson often wrote about the
struggles between the colonies and Great Britain, saying that the colonists were a free
people claiming their rights ( Jefferson and the beginning of the American Revolution
). Jefferson was born and raised in Virginia, and was elected to its House of
Burgesses in 1768. Later, he attended the Second Continental Congress as a Virginian
delegate,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These were important things, and the fact that King George III committed these
abuses was obviously a large contributing factor to the Revolution. However, most of
the grievances simply are not issues today, though some argue otherwise. For
example, taxation without consent is no longer a problem. One man would disagree,
saying Obama pushed through Obamacare without one single Republican vote, thus
alienating the votes of half the population through their elected representatives of the
country (Phillips). This is untrue. The Affordable Care Act actually passed through
Senate with a vote of 60 39, with one withholding a vote ( Affordable Care Act
(Obamacare) ). Citizens have elected representatives for a reason: to represent them
and vote for what would benefit them the most. Taxation might occur without
someone s direct consent, but the majority of elected representatives that Americans
selected decided to allow the taxation. Some grievances could be debated upon, but
others definitely are not issues in today s society, like deprivation of trial by jury. It
is listed in the Bill of Rights, the Sixth Amendment to be exact, that juries must try
Taxes On Junk Food And Soda
Paying taxes is something everyone does. We pay taxes on cars, property, and on
our income. What about the junk food we consume? This has been debated for
years that it will or will not work. How do we educate the public? Why should we
do it? Where will the money be going? What groups will it serve? Prices are
already high, so where is the money coming from? Everything that is done must be
motivated because if not, it becomes a fad here today and gone tomorrow. Only
things that are done repetitively are made into habits. As a person, all things can be
done if we have a desire and a need. Taxes on junk food and soda will not work
unless everyone is educated on the utilization of revenues, health advantages, and
motivated sufficiently to make a more healthy change.
Although we all pay taxes is it right to tax junk foods and sugary beverages.
Politicians has debated this for years. Taxation is an excellent form of raising
money for governmental usage. This type of taxation should reach about 90% of the
public. Hopefully it will be able to benefit these same people as well.
As a reference by the Journal of Health policy 2008 Revenues (Chriqui, 2007) could
be generated as a result of this tax. The results of their study were One study
estimated that a one cent national tax on an 12 ounce soft drink could generate an
estimated $1.5 billion annually (Jacobson MF) that could be dedicated to obesity
prevention and reduction efforts. These programs can support and educate
Brainwashing In Animal Farm
Brainwashing, a method used to revise certain beliefs and systematically amend
attitudes. The process requires torture, starvation, and a concept of confusion. These
victims that undergo this procedure are in the state of a mind that operates similar
to robots programmed and wired to blindly accept the deception that is forced upon
their existence. Their existence, however, is similar to an empty soul, meaningless
to anyone. The satirical novel by George Orwell, Animal Farm expresses the way
how society worked during the Russian Revolution. It is represented with farm
animals, who take over a farm to run it for themselves. However, the outcome is
worse from when they started and end with a tyrannical, cruel, and selfish ruler. The
animals are fed with lies and rumors that twists their brains with turmoil and are left
with a life that they never wanted. They each impersonate different roles and aspects
of the revolution. Boxer, a character from Animal Farm , portrays the part of the
proletariat(working) class because he works harder no matter what, is brainwashed
to remain loyal, and he is uneducated, preventing him to fully understand situations.
Even though the pain, work, and distraught, Boxer always continues to work harder
as he sees that this will solve the problems. This can be demonstrated when
Napoleon ordered the animals to be slain because of their betrayal . Boxer was
struck with shock as the action of Napoleon seemed harsh, yet he still continued to

Copyright Infringement Essay

technology is continuing to advance and a faster and faster rate. As technology

ability of our society to obtain information has been becoming as easy as it has
ever been. I simple line into the google search bar and you are looking at millions
upon millions of lings and opportunities to attain information. With this source and

Hard goods pirates also use the Internet to sell illegally duplicated DVDs through

sophisticated electronic means, such as peer to peer file trading networks, Internet
chat rooms, and newsgroups, has an ever increasing negative impact on cultural
industries, it is also argued that curtailing this phenomenon limits the right of access
to information, knowledge and culture (4). The problem in trying to prevent digital
copyright infringement is tied up in the problem of regulating the Internet an
almost impossible feat, considering the World Wide Web today comprises more
than 100 million individual Web sites. Regulators have been severely tried in recent
years with the rise of peer to peer networks, with the most infamous being Napster.
The brainchild of a 19 year old college student, Napster launched in 1999 and
revolutionized the way music sharing was conducted online. However, with such a
quick rise to success comes the inevitable problems; in this case, the problems arose
in the form of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and copyright
lawsuits. While users of Napster saw nothing wrong with sharing music, the RIAA,
which represents the four major music labels, saw the situation quite differently. By
late 2000, the courts had ruled that Napster must restrict access to copyrighted

Logrono is referred to as the Wine Capital of the world. People travel here to enjoy
the wine produced and learn about the history. Population
Logrono has a population of about 152107 people. This was last recorded in 2015.
This is a reasonably small number of people compared to the rest of Spain. With this
amount of people living here, it would leave more room for the tourism industry.
As Logrono is extremely popular for its production of wine it increases the visitors
who come to this Region. This ultimately would lead to the boost in the economy
there.
The smaller population leaves more room for the people within the City to build their
industries without other people coming in taking over with building site for
Music In The Romantic Era
Following the Pre Classical and Classical periods, a new, very distinctive style of
music emerged. The Romantic Era Lasted from the year 1820 up until the year
1900. The Romantic Era consisted of composers taking a more unique and
expressive style of music. Hector Berlioz, Fryderyck Chopin, and Robert Schumann
are considered to be the most influential composers of the Romantic Era. Nationalism
and Exoticism played a very big part of musicexpression during this period. Both, Art
song and German Lieder music styles were invented and told stories in a musical
form. These three composers helped shape this era through the use of the pianoand the
use of a more supernatural realm style of music.
Hector Berlioz was born in the year 1803 in France. At the age of twenty two he left
his career to pursue his musical career. He went on to composing his first
symphony at the age of twenty seven. Hector was highly criticized in his homeland
France for his music. It was very painful for hector to be rejected from the musical
community and deemed as a laughing stock. After receiving the negative reviews
of his music, he stated, I belong to a nation which has ceased to be interested in the
nobler manifestations of intelligence, and whose only deity is the golden calf. The
Parisians have become a barbarous people (Berlioz, 2016). He had to work very hard
to be able to afford all of the costs for his performances and was pretty much ignored
throughout his musical career. He was later

Marketing Discourse Of South Korea Essay
Ever since the economic boom that South Korea faced due to globalization in the
1990 s, South Korea has been working on becoming a country on par with other
global powers such as Canada and Australia (John, 2015). South Korea has paid a
particular focus since the early 2000 s on exporting culture to the rest of the world
through what is known as the Korean Wave , and South Korean beauty is no
exception to this trend (John, 2015). South Korean beauty has grown its own niche
market in America where people can purchase products either from popular online
distributors such as MEMEBOX, WishTrend, and YesStyle, or from select American
outlets such as Sephora, Urban Outfitters, and Forever21. Beauty from South Korea
has also gained an online presence as popular online beauty gurus test interesting
products from South Korea, and some beauty gurus even have a focus on South
Korean beauty products and trends. My discourse community is the marketing
discourse community within the business sphere, and it focuses on ways to sell
products to customers and make them aware of products that they might like with
hopes of increasing the profit margins of companies. Companies tend to employ
multiple types of marketing, including traditional and word of mouth marketing, but I
have focused my research more on the side of traditional marketing. Traditional
marketing includes magazine and newspaper advertisements, television
advertisements, and billboard advertisements. With the increase in
Short Speech On Cosmetology
For my senior project I had to job shadow a career I am interested in. I have chosen
cosmetology and an esthetician because I have always enjoyed either streaks in
my hair or makeup on. My hope is to someday either be working on sets for tv and
putting makeup on celebrities or to be able to have my own salon someday and
work on people s hair. Or maybe someday I will work on giving people massages
and facials. In this speech I will tell you about what I learned when I job shadowed
some people in cosmetology. Cosmetology is a skill of making face skin and hair
beautiful. Cosmetologists duties are to shampoo, rinse and condition the scalp and
hair. Or sometimes their duties are to analyze skin conditions and help clear up skin.

If you choose to be a hairstylist it requires you to be standing for long periods of
time. Hazards of cosmetology can be exposure to chemicals, risk of infection,
repetitive motion injuries, burns/cuts/scratches, noise, verbal or physical abuse from
clients, and stress. In cosmetology you can find a place to work that you can also
travel a lot for your career or have insurance paid for by the company. The worst part
of cosmetology is that I may have to be standing for long periods of time. I am still
interested in the job because there are a lot of benefits and the career tends to grow
from how many people like fashion and like to look good these days. I would like to
get a career in cosmetology because I do not want to go four years in college. As a
kid I had to learn with a disability called auditory processing disorder. I have worked
very hard to be able to get through high school. When I was little I made a friend
who has a chair in a salon working as a hair stylist and I would always want to get
something new done. Whether it was getting new bangs, getting highlights,
streaks, or just a different hair cut. I would always go home happy. A few years ago I
was very happy to get my first Urban Decay eyeshadow palette. Because of these
experiences I would like to get a career in
Ender s Game Character Analysis
Orison Scott Card s Ender s Game is a science fiction novel about a young boy who
is enlisted and trained to be a military leader during a fight for humanity against
alien buggers. Ender Wiggin was bred, in the expectations of him being the ultimate
military commander, to be a strategist by the government. Ender developed many
leadership techniques throughout his time at Battle School. These techniques made
him an unbeatable leader in the mock battles the children played in school, and
they can be helpful leadership lessons for personal growth and management. Ender
becomes an astounding leader throughout his time at Battle School. As he trains his
Army he reminds them, the enemy s gate is down. He tells his army to remember
the direction of the enemy gate during their practice sessions and battles in the zero
gravity battle room to remind them how to achieve success at Battle School.
Although Ender understands the concept of no real direction in zero gravity, he
also understands that most children in Battle School do not see the concept
correctly, and still try to hold on to the directional terms. Children trained by Ender
know the goal of the games at Battle School is to fall toward the enemy. Keeping a
primary goal helps his team focus on success to ensure all objectives are oriented to
the overall goal of winning the battle.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was right and according to current situations. Ender could also rely on the thought
process of all forty one brains in his Army. Instead of crumbling under changing
conditions, Ender s Army could easily modify to any

This particular subject demands a deep engagement with historical, social, and ethical dimensions, as well as a nuanced understanding of the narrative itself. To begin with, one must delve into the harrowing experiences depicted in Solomon Northup's memoir, grappling with the profound injustices of slavery and the personal struggles faced by the protagonist. Analyzing the cultural and historical context of the antebellum South is essential for providing a comprehensive backdrop to the narrative. Moreover, addressing the impact of the book on the abolitionist movement and its relevance to contemporary discussions on race and human rights adds another layer of complexity to the essay. Crafting a well-structured and insightful essay requires the ability to synthesize information from various sources, including literary analyses, historical accounts, and critical perspectives. Balancing empathy and objectivity in the discussion of such a sensitive topic is crucial to avoid oversimplification or misrepresentation. Moreover, the essay must weave a coherent narrative that explores the intricacies of the author's storytelling techniques, character development, and thematic elements. The 1920 s when both of these pieces were written was a very careless time, to hide from the reality of the war and people were very careless with its outcomes. F. Friar Lawrence thinks outside of the box and devises a scheme that will fool others into thinking that Juliet is dead so that she will not have to marry Paris. The fact that the Friar came up with such a plan under such short notice shows that he is a quick, but careful thinker. Later, Friar Lawrence is told that Romeo was not aware of his plan yet and reacts, Romeo hath no notice of these accidents/... [I will] keep her at my cell till Romeo came (V.II. 26 28). The Friar had planned to send a message to Romeo telling him that Juliet is not actually dead, but he has not gotten this note yet, so he believes his love has died. Friar Lawrence is aware of the love between the two and knows that this mistake could result in Romeo harming himself, so he must fix this immediately. The Friar is clever enough to quickly rethink his plan in order to save Romeo from himself. The Friar uses his qualities of intelligence and cunning to help Romeo and Juliet, greatly influencing and changing their

Mr. Walsh, the plaintiffs attorney, is presenting the issue of actual knowledge of intoxication. Mr. Walsh is arguing against summary judgment based on two reasons. First, Indiana Courts have held that when a reasonable inference of evidence and circumstances of a case could result in more than one conclusion, summary judgment is inappropriate. Second, the jury could infer that the bartender had actual knowledge of the visible intoxication of Mr. Hard when he last served him alcohol. Ms. Babot is arguing against summary judgment based on approximate cause due to three reasons. First, there are reasonable inferences that a jury could make in favor of the plaintiff. Second, the injuries to Mrs. White were the reasonable and foreseeable consequences of serving an intoxicated patron. Thirdly, a criminal can be the intervening act that does not break the chain of causation because the act is reasonably foreseeable. The mentality of a traitor stems from his or her desires and what they need. In the following comparison of George Washingtonand Benedict Arnold the true character of a traitor will be revealed, as well as how heroes are made, what qualifies as betrayal, and the attributes of the true traitor. Washington and Arnold were both men of valor on the field of battle, as they fought desperately for the cause of freedom. If they did indeed betray, then where did they go wrong and what caused these actions? It is true both Washington and Arnold were traitors. The question is, who did they betray? First, we must explore how these men became heroes. In the French and Indian war, Lieutenant Colonel George Washington fought for the British army. In 1754, the newly appointed Washington was sent to a post in what is now Pittsburg. Before arriving at the fort, it was surrendered to the French. Washington, always quick to think on his feet, set up a new outpost just forty miles away which was named Fort Necessity. He then ambushed a forward detachment of 30 French soldiers marking the first bloodshed of the war. On July 3rd the French came upon Fort Necessity and after a full day of fighting young

The relationship between the belligerents in almost all conflicts has varied in many tactical, strategic and operational levels. A popular perception of today claims that there has been a relatively recent rise in asymmetric warfare, or conventional irregular warfare that has transformed war from a customary and symmetric exercise into an irregular, avant garde, asymmetric experience. This perception is inherently at the foundation of the question in which this essay attempts to respond. In contrast with this perspective, the main argument of this essay is that asymmetric warfare, although definitely a characteristic of the times is not a new genus of warfare that has risen in the twentieth century as a distinct revolution in military affairs. Furthermore, asymmetric warfare cannot be used as a description to describe deviation from Western norms in this case conflict. Rather, asymmetric warfare

The main focus of this paper is to assess Montaigne s philosophy and Aristotle s philosophy on their view of loveand judge which view of love is more convincing to a reasonable human being. Between Aristotle and Montaigne, Montaigne s view of love is more convincing to a reasonable human being because friendshipis more complex and complicated than categorizing friendship into different levels. Philia is the deep comradely friendship about showing loyalty and pragma is the deep understanding between two people. Montaigne strongly believes friendship should be an unconstrained product of will, while Aristotle uses a rather categorical approach to friendship, utility, pleasure, and virtue. By making strict delineations and then using examples, he establishes a rather strict definition of friendship that is created along lines of social class. He argues, among other things, that friendship must be between similarly virtuous men of equal standing. In addition, the purest form of friendship, and the one that Aristotle considers the only genuine friendship,

  • 42. Annotated Bibliography On Database Management Systems The ability to store information has always been important for our survival. In the beginning, information used to be shared by word of mouth. Then, with the invention of writing, data slowly started to be stored in books kept in libraries, sorted in specific order that made them easily accessible. Finally, the invention of the computers led to the evolution of databases. Databases are important, because thanks to them humans are able to store and later on retrieve information. The way in which databases arise is very simple. It all begins as a list in a word processing system. As the size of the list increases, the data starts to appear inconsistent. If this occurs, Database Management Systems come to help, due to the fact they can store a large amount of information in a number of tables linked to each other. Programs such as Access are able to add new data to a database or make changes to already existing data from the database; they are even able to delete information. These features assist people in analyzing and categorizing information in the following way: Tables lie in the core of any given database. Thanks to them, the possibility of redundancy is greatly reduced. A database can consist of a number of different tables which enables the researcher to break information down into smaller (and easier to analyse) pieces. Just like spread sheets, they consist of rows (also called records) and columns (fields). By using records, researchers are able to combine

Marketing Discourse Of South Korea Essay Ever since the economic boom that South Korea faced due to globalization in the 1990 s, South Korea has been working on becoming a country on par with other global powers such as Canada and Australia (John, 2015). South Korea has paid a particular focus since the early 2000 s on exporting culture to the rest of the world through what is known as the Korean Wave , and South Korean beauty is no exception to this trend (John, 2015). South Korean beauty has grown its own niche market in America where people can purchase products either from popular online distributors such as MEMEBOX, WishTrend, and YesStyle, or from select American outlets such as Sephora, Urban Outfitters, and Forever21. I have chosen cosmetology and an esthetician because I have always enjoyed either streaks in my hair or makeup on. My hope is to someday either be working on sets for tv and putting makeup on celebrities or to be able to have my own salon someday and work on people s hair. Or maybe someday I will work on giving people massages and facials. In this speech I will tell you about what I learned when I job shadowed some people in cosmetology. Or sometimes their duties are to analyze skin conditions and help clear up skin. Hair stylists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you choose to be a hairstylist it requires you to be standing for long periods of time. Hazards of cosmetology can be exposure to chemicals, risk of infection, repetitive motion injuries, burns/cuts/scratches, noise, verbal or physical abuse from clients, and stress. In cosmetology you can find a place to work that you can also travel a lot for your career or have insurance paid for by the company. The worst part of cosmetology is that I may have to be standing for long periods of time. I am still interested in the job because there are a lot of benefits and the career tends to grow from how many people like fashion and like to look good these days. I would like to get a career in cosmetology because I do not want to go four years in college. As a kid I had to learn with a disability called auditory processing disorder. I have worked very hard to be able to get through high school. When I was little I made a friend who has a chair in a salon working as a hair stylist and I would always want to get something new done. Whether it was getting new bangs, getting highlights, streaks, or just a different hair cut. I would always go home happy. A few years ago I was very happy to get my first Urban Decay eyeshadow palette. Because of these experiences I would like to get a career in

He tells his army to remember the direction of the enemy gate during their practice sessions and battles in the zero gravity battle room to remind them how to achieve success at Battle School.
