want their country to be run. Over the years many countries have changed their
government to fit the present day. The United States has had two different forms of
documents in their time of being a country.
The very first document created to run The United States government is known as
The Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation was adopted on
November 15, 1777, and ratified by the Thirteen Colonies March 1, 1781. Several
drafts were written separately by Benjamin Franklin, Silas Deane, and John
Dickinson in the year 1775, but were canceled in 1786.

Randolph, the governor of Virginia, gave his idea of government called the

Federal Prison System Hearing Analysis
The Federal Prison System hearing is the meeting that I have chosen to watch.
This hearing involves the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Committee and took place on August 4th, 2015 at Dirksen Senate Office Building.
Two panels, one including advocates and the other members of the Justice
Department, testified on the overall effectiveness of our nations federal prison
system. Piper Kerman, the author of Orange Is the New Black , made an
appearance and shared her experiences in prison. There are sixteen members that
make up the Committee of Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs which
include: Ron Johnson for 1 year, Thomas Carper for 2 years, John McCain for 10
years, Rob Portman, Claire McCaskill, Jon Tester for 5 years, Rand Paul, James
Lankford for 11 years, Tammy Baldwin for 1 year, Heidi Heitkamp for 1 year,
Michael Enzi for 1 year, Kelly Ayotte for 5 years, Cory Booker for 5 years, Gary
Peters for 7 years, Joni Ernst for 1 year, and Ben Sasse for 1 year. The majority
leader and chairman is Ron Johnson, and the minority leader and ranking member is
Thomas Carper. When elected into the house or senate, they may be nominated by
Homeland Security then members decide if they are qualified to be a new member.
