Informative Essay On Outdoor Dining
Focus keyword: outdoor dining Meta description: Title: Blog post: (photo?) The dining table has
become an iconic gathering place for decades. It s where people come to be together, share in a
meal and connect over conversation. Dinner time is a special time to bond, to relax, to build
memories, and enjoy. The dining table has become a universal symbol of togetherness, and in South
Florida, we like to take that tradition outside. There are so many options for dining al fresco, and so
many opportunities to enjoy it. Dining tables symbolize community, unity, celebration and so much
more. Taking all those symbols to the outdoors only maximizes the effect. Add the sun, the breeze,
and all the fun of the outdoors can make any gathering

The Shortage Of Physician Primary Care Provider
Prescriptive Authority The shortage of physician primary care provider, has created public
awareness bringing about the demand of the advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs). The
APRN has the necessary training to assess, diagnose and treat patients. As the role of APRN begin
to expand the need to prescribe medications becomes very important. According to the American
Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), APRN practice in the United Statesis divided into three
groups: full practice, reduced practice, or restricted practice. The scope of practice and prescriptive
authority of the APRN is determined according to state regulations (Gutchell, ldzik, Lazear, 2014).

medical equipment. If an APRN wishes to prescribe controlled substances, he or she obtains the
authority to order and prescribe certain categories of controlled substances. Having an advanced

Variance Is A Statistical Method Used For Test Differences...
Analysis of variance is a statistical method used to test differences between two or more means.
ANOVA is used to test general rather than specific differences among means. An ANOVA
conducted on a design in which there is only one factor is called a one way ANOVA. The One
Way ANOVA is considered an omnibus test because it indicates whether or not there are any
significant differences in the means between any of the groups. However, it does not indicate
which mean are different. The One way ANOVA compares the means of the samples or groups to
make inferences about the population means. The one way ANOVA, two kinds of variables:
independent and dependent. Also, the one way ANOVA is used to determine whether there are any
statistically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The One Way ANOVA can compare the means of three or more groups. Furthermore, by running
additional t tests an increase 5% error increases with every t test ran. An ANOVA, on the other hand,
has a 5% error, that remains trough the duration of the test. Therefore, if one is running many
controls the type I error remains at 5% and the researcher can be more confident that any
statistically significant result you find is not just running lots of tests.
In a one way ANOVA, the null hypothesis tested by rather the population means are equal, or that
each of the group means is equal. If the null hypothesis is rejected, then it can be concluded that at
least one of the population means is different from at least one other population mean. The
alternative hypothesis, however, looks to see that at least two of the group means are significantly
different. The assumption of independence is obtained if the observations are random and
independent if they are to be representative of the populations and in no way related or dependent
on another. The distributions of the populations from which the samples are selected are normal;
This is commonly referred as the assumption of normality. The variances of the distributions in the
populations are equal. This is often referred as the assumption of homogeneity of variance.

Queueing Theory In Hospital Management
Applications of queueing theory in hospital management: a literature review
Abstract
This paper reviews the applications and usage of the queueing theory in the aspect of health care
management problems. This paper review presents a way of optimizing the use of hospital
resources in order to improve hospital care. A queueing model is used to determine the main
characteristics of the access of patients to hospital beds, such as mean bed occupancy and the
probability that hospital care demand is lost because all beds are occupied. The aim of this paper
review is to provide detailed information to analysts who are interested in using queueing theory to
model a health care process and want to look into a technique for optimizing the number of beds in
order to maintain an acceptable delay probability at a sufficiently low level.

filling stations for fuel, customers arriving at a bank for various services, customers at a
supermarket waiting to be attended to by a cashier and in healthcare settings. [8, 3] Queuing
theory can also be applied to the analysis of waiting lines in healthcare settings. Most of healthcare
systems have excess capacity to accommodate random variations while some do not, so queuing
theory analysis can be used as short term measures, or for facilities and resource planning. The

Enzyme Concentration
This experiment was carried out with many precautions to minimise error margins. These measures
included putting the measuring cylinders in the water bath/ ice box/ and bench top at the same
time, using the same capsicum extract, having the same person record the results and add the
capsicum extract. However there were still some results that exhibited error such as collecting the
measuring cylinders at different times which prolonged the exposure, as well as have a delay
between starting the timer and adding the capsicum extract. Other issues consist of having an
uneven layer of foam (O2) which was a random error that made it difficult to record mL, and
forgetting to record the temperatureof the H2O2.
Ideally there should have been a gap between exposing each measuring cylinder to the change in
temperature, so once one temperature was recorded the next one was ready rather than them
overlapping. Another improvement in the experiment would be to assign the task of timing to one
person and adding the extract to another person to diminish the gap between completing each of
the tasks*. In addition, testing more temperature points or repeating the experiment would allow
for a wider range of results and a higher accuracy reading of the ideal conditions for enzyme
reactivity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Ban Of Medical Marijuana
Charlotte Figi, a six year old girl, had an untreatable form of epilepsy and used medical
marijuana to save her life. Her parents had tried almost every medication to try and save her by
the time she was two years old. Some nights she would get fifty seizures each night. Finally, her
parents were able to get her a medical marijuana card in Colorado, and the new medication
immediately stopped the seizures (Gummow, 8 Miraculous, para. 4, alternet.org). This is just one
example of how unjust the ban of medicinal marijuana is. The ban of medical marijuana is unjust
because people who need the medicine have been arrested and sent to prison for decades, the ban
is based on outdated moral biases, and although some may argue that marijuana is a gateway drug,
people who wish to use medicinal marijuana are using it to relieve specific symptoms that are not
addressed by harder drugs. Charlotte s epilepsy is not the only condition for which medical
marijuana can be used. First, the website ProCon.org states that medical marijuana is useful for
sufferers of Alzheimer s Disease, anorexia, AIDS, cancer, Crohn s Disease, and many others (For
Which Symptoms, para. 1, procon.org). Studies show that drugs, such as cocaine, and alcohol
inhibit the growth of new brain cells. However, research conducted at Scripps Research in San
Diego demonstrates that marijuana encourages neural growth. THC, one of the primary beneficial
compounds found in cannabis, eases pain, minimizes

Arizona s Looming Water Crisis Arizonans see California s drought and water restrictions

well being of Californians, while some may mistakenly think that it is not Arizona s problem. I
was one of those people, and while investigated the idea, discover how Arizona is in a bad
situation because of it. What I, along with others, did not understand is the years of planning,
legislation, and engineering that took place to get water to Arizona and the rest of the Southwest.

According to the CAP website, the CAP was developed when the seven states who rely on the
Colorado River came together, and divided the water availability amongst themselves. This is
known more formally as the Colorado River Compact of 1922. After many years of legislation
and construction, the CAP started delivering water to Arizonans by 1993. The CAP brings water
from Lake Havasu and goes through a series of canals extending 313 miles long, and is
responsible for bringing water to 80 percent of Arizona s population. However, because of prior
appropriation laws, the CAP does not guarantee that Arizona will receive its annual 2.8 million
acre feet. Administrators at the CAP Strategic Initiatives and Public Policy Office predict that the
2.8 million acre feet of water delivered to Arizona, will soon decline. The CAP issue brief states,
...there is a significant probability of an official declaration of shortage in the Colorado River water
supply starting as early as 2016 or shortly after (CAP, 2014). An official declaration of a shortage
would be determined by the Secretary of the Interior, and the decision is based on the elevation of
the water in Lake Meade. The person in this position checks the status of the Colorado River

Gustave Flaubert A Simple Heart Essay
Gustave Flaubert A Simple Heart
Gustave Flaubert s short story, A Simple Heart, is the narrative account of one woman s painfully
unrewarding life as a humble and blindly dedicated servant, Felicite. Throughout the story
chronicling her life, she suffers a series of heartbreaking losses, but continues to love
unconditionally nonetheless. A Simple Heart brings up themes of death and loss, and
unquestioning duty and responsibility. It also calls into question conventional religious belief,
through, among other things, Felicite s warship of the parrot, Lou Lou. Felicite represents each of
these themes partly in her own ignorance and simplicity and, as a result, it is seemingly difficult to
validate the authenticity of her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She has no control over the losses she endures; loss is inevitable. This idea of loss plays into
another theme within A Simple Heart that of unquestioning duty and responsibility. It is Felicite
s simplicity and, at times, her ignorance that allows her to so be so blindly devoted and caring.
She works faithfully for little pay, and remains incredibly loyal to Aubain s family. For example,
when she saves Aubaine and her children from a raging bull, she puts her own life in peril
without a second thought. She takes no pride in this act, and has not the barest suspicion that
she had done anything heroic (1023). She also displays this when she fails to see Virginie before
she dies because she feels so strongly about making sure the house is locked and secure before
she leaves to see her. Despite her pure heart, it seems that Felicite is never rewarded. This
challenges the value of such blind and unshakable devotion in such an unrewarding and oftentimes
cruel world. However, Flaubert s most significant idea presented in this story, one that is
intertwined with death and devotion, is his questioning of mystical belief. Felicite s religious
devotion seems arbitrary and indirect. Despite this, it also appears to be quite deep and meaningful
to her. The irony lies in the fact that she gains most, if not all, of her religious experience vicariously

Compare And Contrast The Renaissance And Reformation
Western civilization found its origins in the ancient world of Greece and Rome. Although these laid
the foundation for governmental, philosophical, and structural elements of the modern world,
people s day to day life remained the same. The Renaissance and Reformation transformed the mind
of the ancient man into the individualist of today. We will explore this transformation through three
key steps: the philosophy of the time, the condition of the Catholic Church, and finally, the cultures
response.
Art and humanism marked the core of the Renaissance. Together they changed at morphed society

Letter of Motivation
Dear Madam or Sir,
After spending half a decade on developing state of the art financial and medical software, I am
thrilled by the prospects of taking my career forward through a distinguished master s degree from
your university. My passion for programming has taken me from an eventful bachelor s degree in
computer science, to an innovative professional career with one of the biggest conglomerate of
the world. Now, my zeal for learning medicine and its association with computers brings me here
to you. With this letter I wish to apply and state my motivation for admission to Biomedical
Computing (BMC) program. My objective is to become an expert in the dynamic field of computer
aided medical procedures and medical imaging.
I was intrigued by how programming could help me automate manual work, create utilities for
everyday needs and still be so much fun. Hence, I pursued undergraduate studies in computer
science and engineering. In my second semester, I presented a technical paper on minimally
invasive surgery using robotics. I was excited by the prospects that the use of robotics can help
patients to recover quickly with lesser operative distress. Later, I, along with three of my friends,
conducted workshops on 3D animation using 3ds Max software. At that time, a typical computer
science graduate from my university would work in the Indian software service industry. However,

The World Of North America
The continent of North America had been inhabited by native Indian cultures for centuries prior to
European expansion. The Indians had established their community systems around North and South
America including what is now the northern, southern and western United States. Despite their
existence in the Americas, Europeans countries still attempted to colonize the continent. While
some historians might have argued the arrival of Europeans meant a better, freer life for most if
not all people , this was primarily true for white Christian Europeans. Even though some colonists
experienced more political freedoms, these freedoms were very limited. In reality, economic
freedom was also limited for both Europeans and Indians; additionally, both groups suffered
religious persecutionat the hands of the government and missionaries.
The rights given to Catholics and Quakers to serve in political positions were not allowed in
England. So, when the Europeans arrived to the new world, these new ideas were introduced. In
1680 Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn (46, Foner) and later promoted religious
tolerance. This soon promoted political freedoms ... all person who also profess to believe in Jesus

How Does Greene Present Fowler s Relationship In The Quiet...
In his allegorical novel The Quiet American , centered during the conflicts of the First Indo
China War, author Graham Greene aims to portray the majority of relationships as being driven
by selfish desires. Greene develops this motif through the eyes of protagonist Thomas Fowler,
whose initial indifferent cynicism towards the war enhances the idea that personal gain and
individual desires are the powering force behind the story s relationships. This egocentricity
prevailing within the friendship of characters Thomas Fowler and Alden Pyle, as well as Fowler
s affair with Vietnam, serves to further explore Greene s idea that personal gain plays a bigger role
than affection in any relationship. This idea is reinforced by both Fowler and Pyle s insensitive

The Importance Of Discrimination In The Film Industry
the main synonym neither to the discrimination in the industry nor the lack of female
professionals. Discrimination is not only lack of representation of the gender, but in this case
also representation of only a small pool of women specialists (Paydar 5). The same female actors,
directors, producers, writers, etc. are hired repeatedly, mostly those connected to the males at the
top of the hierarchical ladder or having had experience and success with the same studio before
(John 432 437). Existence of female professionals and hiring of a female for a project does not
indicate the overcoming of systemic barriers. The question is not only in the number or percentage
of women involved in the production, but about diversity and equal opportunities. Another
component of initial hiring practices in filmstudios is correlation with law and associations
requirements. Diversity requirement that is standard for the industry usually poses a quota that
allows the employer to hire females or maleminorities. By providing a choice of hiring a male of
color or a female, this provision allows studios to evade anti discriminationlaws (Paydar 8).
Fighting all these exclusions based on sex and discrimination practices is possible mostly by
individual court orders through several claims available to women within US laws (Bureau of
National Affairs). However, there is a limited number of women in any field of the film industry
who would go to court suing multimillion studios that control a

A Hanging George Orwell Analysis
George Orwell, an experienced Assistant Superintendent in the British Imperial Police, composed A
Hanging after his resignation in 1927. The narrative is a personal testimony set in the 1920 s in
Burma. Orwell uses the classical techniques of formal argument to depict the death of an unknown
prisoner, while taking a position against the death penalty. George Orwell s Abolitionist message in
A Hangingis conveyed through the prisoner, dog, functionaries, and their actions, words, and body
language.
The writer implies the prisoner s humanity by describing his emotions and ability to reason. After
the execution, the Eurasian boy tells Orwell when the prisoner found out he would be hung, he
pissed on the floor of his cell (Orwell 102). The boy s story signifies the prisoner s human
characteristics through his reaction, as he was so scared he urinated on himself. As John Rodden
notes, this happening creates sympathy (73). The action humanizes the prisoner, connecting the
readers to him. Likewise, George Orwell details the condemned man s human like traits by
describing the prisoner avoiding a puddle directly before his execution. This simple act causes a
realization that the prisoner is also human. John Rodden states, The narrorator reinforces this point
by drawing attention to the prisoner s humanity, as he a dead man walking diligently sidesteps a
puddle (72). Rodden suggest that the dead man still has dignity to sidestep the puddle. The
illustration of the prisoner s response to his death sentence and his avoidance of the water brings to
the reader s attention that capital punishment is taking another human life.
George Orwell conveys the prisoner as human in order to emphasis the dehumanization of capital
punishment. As George Orwell states, He and we were a party of men walking together, seeing,
hearing, feeling, understanding, the same world, and in two minutes, with a sudden snap, one of
us would be gone (101). Orwell implies the prisoner is no different from him; yet, by killing the
condemned man he is taking away his humanity. The author explains the prisoner s gait and stance
as steady, bobbing from side to side with his knees bent. He does not protest, as he has accepted his
fate.

Animal Farm, By George Orwell
These rebellious animals think no man means freedom and happiness, but they need to think again.
The animals of Manor Farm rebel against the farm owner, Mr. Jones, and name it Animal Farm. The
animals create Animalism, with seven commandments. As everything seems going well, two of the
animals get into a rivalry, and things start changing. Food starts disappearing and commandments
are changed, and the power begins to shift. Father of dystopian genre, George Orwellwrites an
interesting allegory, Animal Farm, including common themes and symbols relating to modern day
political events.
Eric Arthur Blair, with a pen name of George Orwell, was born on June 25, 1903 ( George Orwell.
). Blair described his young life as boring and dull, and his dad was never around ( George
Orwell Biography. ). He was taught in England and then joined the Indian Imperial Police in
Burma, one of the British colonies ( George Orwell. ). Orwell then moved to France and worked
many jobs due to his lack of success of an author ( George Orwell Biography. ). Orwell s first
major work was published under the name of George Orwell to not disappoint his family (
George Orwell Biography. ). His beliefs had now changed from anarchy to socialism ( George
Orwell. ). When he had encountered some Soviet Communists, he had become an anti Stalinist (
George Orwell. ). In 1945, His Animal Farm was published, and four years later, Eric Arthur Blair

The Reasons behind Homosexual Discrimination
One of the greatest poets of the twentieth century, Dr Seuss, once said, Be who you are and say
what you feel, because those who mind don t matter and those who matter don t mind . Essentially,
this advice is applicable to any given individual, yet it seems that it is most suitable for
homosexuals, and therefore why it lies within the heart of gay rights. It is inevitable, that as a
minority group, homosexuals will find that they will encounter more people who mind than
heterosexuals. This particular discrimination has been occurring for decades all across the globe;
however it became prominent in the United States in the 1950s. In 1953, under President
Eisenhower, it was decided that homosexualitywas a sufficient enough reason in itself to fire
people from federal jobs. This executive order stood from 1953 until 1993, providing support to
the idea that discrimination in employment ranked as the worst type of persecution gay people
faced at the time, second only to physical assault. Throughout the 1950s and well into the 1960s,
both lesbian and male drag queens suffered from frequent rapes and sexual assaults committed by
police officers. Further, those same police officers were certainly no help when gays were being
abused and raped by other hateful individuals. It was not until June 28, 1969 that a group of gay
customers at the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in Greenwich Village, finally took a stand
against the police harassment and created a riot. The

Symphony Number 45 in F# Minor (the Farewell symphony )
Between 1761 and 1790 Haydn was employed by the enormously wealthy Esterhazy family who
had two palaces on the borders of Austria and Hungary. The court orchestra was similar to that of
many baroque orchestras two oboes, a bassoon, a string ensemble and a harpsichord. But it also
included a pair of horns instruments that became a regular part of the orchestra thereafter.
It was this orchestra that accompanied operas in the palace theatre and played symphonies twice a
week. Haydn s symphony number 45 in F# minor was first performed in the summer prince

The last movement of the Farewell symphony contains both styles. The presto is stormy, but the
violent mood is restrained by its form. The major mode serenity at the start of the Adagio is later
tinged with minor mode sadness and one of the strangest endings in symphonic music.
Haydn s use of wind instruments is quite different from Bach s and shows how orchestration
changed during the 18th century. Where Bach uses wind instruments to provide melodic lines
within his contrapuntal textures, in this symphony Haydn uses them to add colour or weight to the
string parts. In fact a performance of the presto on strings alone would make perfect sense.
The oboes are used in two ways: they reinforce the violins in loud passages and provide sustained
notes that bind the texture (eg bars 20 24) or give a reedy edge to discords (eg start of bars 25,27
and 29). Although printed on a separate stave in some scores the bassoon simply doubles the cello
/bass part throughout the presto.
Natural horns, like natural trumpets, could play only a limited number of notes. But by requiring
the use of different crooks for the town horns Haydn is able to use a wider number of pitches that
would otherwise have been possible. The horns most important job is to provide harmonic glue for
contrapuntal passages such as bars 20 24 of the finale, where the second horn doubles the first oboe

When she was younger, they would decorate the Christmas tree together. There would be
Christmas music playing and cups of warm apple cider. They would argue laughingly over
whose topper got put on the tree. Once all the ornaments had been hung and before the tissue
paper and boxes had been put away, they would sit on the floor around the tree with all of the
lights off, just the strands of white bulbs lighting the space. Gradually, as the years passed,
hanging the ornaments became less and less of an ordeal. One year, no one remembered to make

City In New York City
Every city has more than one story to tell, more than one face to show. In Mexican Manifesto,
BolaГ±o s narrator tells us that [j]ust as the hidden face of other cities is in theatres, parks, docks,
beaches, labyrinths, churches, brothels, bars, cheap cinemas, old buildings, even supermarkets, the
hidden face of Mexico City could be found in the enormous web of public baths, legal, semi legal,

restaurants, etc. New York City is called the City of Dreams , city that never sleeps and the
Capital of the World , especially to the outsiders the tourists. However, is that the city all about?
Not even close! People tend to look at the bigger and more obvious picture. No one takes the
time to analyze and thus, they end up missing out on the little facets which also have their own
stories to tell. One can only understand a city to the full extent if one knows the entire truth
consisting of the good and the bad as well as the essential and trivial factors. Out of the many
places I have visited in New York City, Central Park is one of my favorite places that brings me
joy. I am one of the millions of people who visit the park every year. I somehow always end up

The Secret Life of Bees Essay
The Secret Life of Bees
In Sue Monk Kidd s novel The Secret Life of Bees there is a psychological allegory present,
which is proven by the characters in the story. The psychological allegory is based on the theory
by Sigmund Freud, this theory states that in the human brain there is three major psychological
portions, the id, the ego, and the super ego. The id is the portion that induces selfishness and
hatred and other bad actions, the super ego is the opposite of the id, putting others before ones self
and caring for others, the ego is the perfect balance between the two and is almost always the
psyche portrayed be the protagonist. In this novel it is T. Ray who illustrates the id, through his bad

flat out killed her (p30) T. Ray know Rosaleen might die but he still wont try to help her because
it would mean standing up to the people of his community. He is only thinking of himself, which
is a quality of the id. T. Ray also only thinks of himself when Lily leaves him, instead of
considering the fact that she might be happier without him. T. Ray has found Lily at the
Boatwright house and is insisting she come back I spent half my summer looking for you, and I
m taking you out of here (290) T. Ray spent half his summer looking for Lily because he was
happier with her, instead of thinking of Lily and considering the fact that she might be happier with
out him. In this he was only thinking of himself and was demonstrating the id. Through all of these
excerpts it can de determined that the character of T. Ray demonstrates the id in the psychological
allegory, through his bad treatment of Lily, his lack of caring with Rosaleen, and the way he only
thinks of himself.
In this novel the character of May Boatwright portrays the super ego, by her unbiased caring, by
her innocence, and by her need for perfection. May cares for every one no matter what race or

With the business internal control out of control I would recommend to hire an accountant with
extensive internal audit situation with businesses that was in a similar state. A company executive
should be placed as project head to work with the auditor. This will help to give the auditor a clear
understanding of where the company is and the direction it wants to go. By them working together
the executive offers the business plan of what they want and the auditor offers the expertise and
experience in process to get the company there. The sooner the company hires an internal auditor
the sooner the business internal control system can be turned around.

Marine Mammal Bycatch Essay
Throughout the years, marine mammal bycatch has continued to be a growing concern due to a
steady increase in mammal mortality rates. Mike Gaworecki mentions in his article that during this
past month the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration initiated a rule limiting seafood
imports from different countries that do not meet the United States new bycatch standards. Bycatch
is a term that means catching unwanted species when intending to fishfor a different type of species.
On a daily basis multiple dolphins, whales, and other unwanted animals are being captured because
of inappropriate or ill suited forms of netting and traps. By implementing this rule the United States
government hopes to prevent and reduce future cases of inappropriate capture. NOAA claims that
they feel this is necessary because they want to enforce more restrictions on fishery related marine
mammal deaths, while influencing other countries to improve on their fishingmethods.
The reason for this sudden ruling was because several conservation groups joined together to sue
the American government for lack of improvement throughout the years on fishery imports from
other countries. By losing this ruling, the United States government has been forced to change their
standards in order to support a previous act they made in 1972, The Marine Mammal Protection Act.
This act originally provided protection for all marine mammals and included their protection of
population sustainability. Over the years, the government had failed to continue this protection
with countries that they imported seafood supply from and thus led to stricter regulations. A key
example used to demonstrate some effects the seafood imports had include the ... Show more

Christ The King Catholic Church
Visitation Report Christ the King Catholic Church is located at 8005 Dorset Drive in Oklahoma

the Catholic church means being a devout follower of God. It means that you believe in the the

of the Church that Christ established and entrusted to Saint Peter and his successors, the popes. I
attended the 10 a.m. mass at Christ the King on July 12, 2015. The service was a little over an
hour long and it was an immensely different and interesting experience. Music is and has always
been a staple of Christian worship. The worship music at Christ the King was extremely traditional.
All of the songs that were sung were traditional hymnals and the congregation seemed to know each
hymn by heart. The lyrics were accompanied by an organ and each pew contained a worship book
that contained the hymns as well as the gospel acclamations and creeds that accompanied them. The
priest sang instead of speaking during the worship, reading of the holy scripture, and communion. In

The Problem Of The Healthcare Crisis Essay
There is a sad sort of irony these days when using the phrase healthcare. Is the focus truly on the
health or care of the patients any longer, or on the potential earnings of insurance companies and
other stockholders?
Since the introduction of the third party payor concept decades ago, the industry has set the stage
for insurance company management of healthcare. This paradigm has ensured that the costs of care
remain high while the quality has diminished.
What (or Who) is Behind the Current Crisis?
Singling out one specific cause of the healthcare crisis is like trying to name one thing that s wrong
with boy bands there are simply far too many things to point to.
If we had to list some of the reasons consumers and providers alike are finding it difficult to
navigate the current landscape, we would include things like reimbursements being fixed at
lowering rates, overhead expenses increasing for physicians, a constant influx of insurance and
government mandates, more paperwork and bureaucracy in medicine in general, malpractice
litigation, understaffing of hospitals and private practices, complex policies leading to lack of
interoperability, and diminished patient and doctor engagement.
There is also the fact that the industry has become increasingly fragmented. Consider that nearly
50% of healthcare spending in this country is publicly funded by federal, state, and county level
governments through various entitlement programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and the

ride contentment. Interior and Exterior No other midsize SUV matches the CX 9 s beautifully

Erikson’s Theory of Psychosocial Development Applied to...
Erik Erikson believed that individual development takes place in a social context. He believed
that development is a lifelong process. His theory contains eight stages of development that
occur at different points in an individual s life. At each stage, the individual has, what he
believed as, a developmental crisis. Developmental crises are issues in the stage that must be
dealt with in order to move on to the next stage. Each stage offers an outcome as to what will
happen if the crisis is not resolved. Incomplete development of one stage can effect later
development. Erikson s developmental model can be used to determine when it is appropriate for

Children in this stage may start using the computer on their own. Parents and teachers should only
offer assistance when the child becomes frustrated. By this stage they should be able to use the

computers teach children to learn hand eye coordination, memory and matchmaking, logical
thinking, identifying opposites, problem solving, music and rhythm, and creativity stimulation
(Kid Source Online, 2001). The fourth stage of development is industry versus inferiority. This
occurs from age six to age twelve. Children in this stage either develop a sense of their own
competence at tasks or they end up believing they are not capable of succeeding. Children learn to
use tools and make things. They are making the transition from home to school. A sense of
identity outside of the home is required. If children are successful in being productive and seeking
success then they will develop competence. If they do not develop competence, they will develop a
sense of inferiority. Parents and teachers should provide children with the opportunity to set goals
and challenge themselves. This is a good time for parents to supply children with daily chores or
tasks to complete. Children in this stage of development should have no problem learning and
continuing to use computers. In this stage of development, computers may be used to enhance

14000 Military Job Opportunities For Women Essay
The Defense Department recently announced new policies that will open more than 14,000
military job opportunities to women. Which seems like a great step except that more than 200,000
positions will still remain exclusive to men, from front line infantry positions to high level special
operations roles. States Dani Moritz from The Muse. (Mortiz) Women have been thrown out of
spotlight when it came to genuine positions. Does this shout disparity for women, as well as
stereotyping and it for the most part tosses women s rights ideal out of the window?
Women began to climb the ladder and finally became equal to men, well almost. Women s rights
include, but is not limited to positions that any man can hold, promotions that were not allowed
beforehand last but not least socially and legal equality. As women, we can t continue to yell
inequality when we are not on the same playing field as men. We, women, have more leverage than
the men. Aspiring to be like men would require us to also go the same extra mile that the male has
to also. Women s right is not for us to be equal while also being held on a pedestal at the same
time. Equality goes both ways, it is for us, as well as men. The inequality of the military has men
doing the double of what women do because they are seen as being mentally and physically
stronger. This relates to the requirements of the military that they have in place which indeed need
to be changed for it to be deemed as an equal service. This identifies

Human Resources Management At Harrods
Introduction
The success of many large organisations exceedingly depend on their employees. How
organisations hire new employees, are pushed harshly or gently to complete tasks or
responsibilities, how they are rewarded and the flexibility that organisations allow all have an
impact on the organisation. The aim of this report is to investigate human resources management at
Harrods whereas also making recommendations of new practises that can be used to form the best
of employees. A brief explanation on two theory approaches and their effectivity to Harrods
Guest Model and Harrods
David Guest 1987 argues that his model has a different perspective to the view of personnel
management which the CIPD state as all the management decisions and actions that directly affect
or influence people as members of the organisations rather than job holders although personnel
management is traditional, it means that compared to the HRM of today, the focus is on specific
tasks and responsibilities the managers of the organisations have no control over their employees.
David Guest (1987) model focuses on HRM practices strategic integration, quality, flexibility and
commitment (Redman and Wilkinson, 2001, p.161) He believes that by using his model of HRM,
will increase job performance and low turnover (Paauwe and Paauwe, 2004, p.55). The guest model
has the concept of focusing on the employee (flexibility and commitment) a soft approach to
Management. It also employs a flow

Essay On Nigger
Nigger
Nigger The word Nigger is said to be a term used to refer to a black or dark skinned person. Over
the years, the word Nigger has many meanings. The word nigger has been used as a strongly
negative term of contempt for a black person since at least the 18th century. Today it stays a
standout amongst the most racially hostile words in the dialect.
Nigger was first known as the word Neger from the Scottish and northern England language. The
word nigger was known as NГЁgre from the French and Negro from Spanish. By the late 17th
century, the word became known as Nigger. From the earliest usage it was known as the term
that carries with it all the obloquy and contempt and rejection which whites have inflicted on
blacks (Isaacs, 1965). As black inferiority was at one time a near universal assumption in English
speaking lands, the word in some cases could be used without deliberate insult. The word was also
used by English settlers to describe dark skinned native peoples in India, Australia, and Polynesia
In African Americanculture today, the word Nigger is utilized lovingly, or a term of charm. The
word has gained more acceptance in recent years in youth culture through song lyrics and stand up
comedy. Some claim that the word can be defused through reclaiming it. ... Show more content on

Despite the fact that nigger began as a word used to depict a dark or dull cleaned individual, after
some time the importance of the word changed. Whites were utilizing the word as a racial slur
towards African Americans. At the point when whites utilized the word Nigger regardless of how
African Americans felt that the word Nigger is an insult to our race. Throughout the years, whites
have used the word to hurt us. African Americans would go into specific restaurants or open

The Odyssey Argumentative Essay
Did you know that there are 12,110 lines of dactylic hexameter found in The
Odyssey (My Interesting Facts)?! The Odyssey is a fictional book about Odysseus trying to get
back home to Ithaca. This epic story was told by Homer, experts do not think he wrote it because
writing only started around 5,000 years ago. Odysseus, a mortal, is the main character of this story.
Odysseus is trying to come home from The Battle of Troy, but he comes in contact with many
gods, mortals, and monsters who hinder or help him get back home. Odysseus leaves his wife and
newly born child because he needed to go fight in a battle. Odysseus tells his wife, Penelope, that
once his son, Telemachus, has a beard on his chin she must remarry. Odysseus is battling time

Reasons To Follow Immigration Laws
Recently President Trump, the 45th President of the United States, has acted to follow the current
Immigrations Laws, set out by the United States Congress, by ending former President Obams
Executive Action order which was designed to supersede the law and provide amnesty for illegal
immigrants. I support this position for several reasons, one being that we must have laws in the
country to follow, we must follow the order of the U.S. Constitution and we must not allow people
to unfairly cut in line because they have children. Our founding fathers set up many of our policies
from following the teachings of very smart philosophers of the past. One such philosopher, John
Locke stated, The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve

Support Group field experience Essay
Compulsive gamblers groups were of high interest to me, because my father was an obsessive
gambler. The group was spearheaded by a lady who is a LPC. In Gam Anon the member will
experience relief from anxiety by accepting the fact of powerlessness over the problem in the
family. The heavy load of responsibility for the gamblingproblem is lifted and the agonizing guilt
in regard to failures is gradually alleviated. The energy wasted in attempts to stop loved ones from
gambling can be channeled into more useful methods of problem solving. The group meets every

I believe that some of the group members will leave differently than before they arrived because
of this particular program and group, The theoretical framework was somewhat dictatorship on
today; I learned that the tone that the facilitator sets for the majority of the session is how the
session runs. This is actually how I figured the sessions would be run, but to be aware that
always expect the unexpected at any time. You must also be ready to adjust to whatever it is
happening at that particular moment. This particular session appears to be more somber with
quite a bit of silence and skepticism. Why this climate I asked myself? I really don t know. I
would suggest to the facilitator to have some kind of activity that she uses as an icebreaker. This
would help get the communication going between the members. A specific skill that I have that
would hinder me as an effective group leader is my ability to shut down once I got ticked off.
This skill is useful in other settings to cool down situations. My last observation session began
with the group leader introducing all members present. She also announced to the group that this
was my last time attending. This stage of the sessions was supposed to be more intense because
this was a 6 week program. The group leader was going to be more of a facilitator during this

Deuces Wild Video Poker Analysis
Deuces Wild Video Poker
About Deuces Wild
There can be no denying that Deuces Wild video poker is one of the most memorable, and
played of all video poker variants. You might actually argue that Deuces Wild video poker is the
most popular video poker variant, and it would be true, if people didn t love Jacks or Better that
little bit more. Unlike many other video poker games, this one isn t based on that standardised
Jacks or Better format at all, instead it is wholly unique, and has many other video poker games
based on it instead. Deuces Wild video poker can be found in virtually all major online casinos
offering video poker games, and in most cases it carries a non progressive jackpot worth around
4,000 coins. The game takes its name from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Players must start by placing their opening bet. In Deuces Wild, you will be able to choose how
many coins you wish to stake per hand (sometimes as many as 5 can be wagered), and you will
also be able to select the value of those coins. Coin sizes vary from variant to variant, and with so
many developers creating their own titles, there is no one betting range present across all Deuces
Wild games.
After the deal has been made, players will need to take a look at their cards. They can select any
of the cards to be replaced, by using the buttons below them, or by clicking on the actual cards.
The method varies from game to game. After doing so, players are entitled to receive new cards to
replace those which they have discarded. It is important to remember that if you get a winning
hand on the first try you may not wish to exchange any cards, and that is okay, too.
After taking those secondary cards (or not, as we have just said), you will have a final poker
hand. This hand can then be measured against the on screen paytable, to determine if there are
any winnings hands at all. If so, players will pocket winnings based on how much they have
wagered, and the hand that they hold. Since no dealer or opposing players are present in Deuces
Wild, any official hand you have is declared a winning hand and worthy of a

To Speak or Not To Speak Essay examples
To Speak or Not To Speak
Imagine, you have just given birth to your first child. Emotions of happiness, love, and
excitement surround you and your partner as you adore the newborn baby lying in your arms.
You are so relieved that the labor went smoothly and to know that your baby was born completely
normal, or so the doctors say. However, a couple years later, you are having premonitions that your
child is not developing normally. He is not responding to your voice, nor does he react to loud
noises, crashing and banging sounds, sirens, etc.
In addition, it is clearly apparent that he is not developing language. After meeting with the
pediatrician, you are faced with the harsh reality that your son is deaf. Now what are you going to ...

Ling states that after the parents have accepted their child s deafness and they have accepted to
work constructively with the child, they can do more for their children than any professional (Ling,
6).
After the parents have accepted their child s impairment, they must take the necessary steps in
deciding how their child will communicate. But, before they can make any decision as to which
approach they will use with and for their child, they must first research and completely understand
the aspects of each. According to Father van Uden of Sint Michielsgestel,
[T]he essential characteristics of oral communication are: a communicative system that exclusively
uses speech, residual hearing, speech reading, and/or vibrotactile stimulation with or without
normal gesticulation in spontaneous conversation, and a system in which the teaching of language
and of all subjects involved in languages conducted exclusively through its spoken and written
forms.(Mulholland, 535).
The manual approach stresses the use of signs in teaching deaf children to communicate. The use of
theses signs is based on the principle that deaf children are unable to develop oral language, so they
must use some other means of communication (Hardman, Drew, Egan, 435). The primary goal for
oralism is to develop the speech and communication skills necessary for integration into the hearing
community (Roach 2002). Advocates of this particular

Overview of the Immune System and Cells
The immune system has dual natures in series with non self/self recognition being the most
important. Other natures are adaptive/nature or acquired/innate, secondary/primary, passive/active,
humoral/cell mediated and some parts or antigen specific. Antigen specific means when it
recognizes certain antigens it will act upon them. Some pats are systemic which is the don t just
stay at the infected area but go through the body and they have memory, so when they come the
same antigen again they know, they will attack it even stronger. The non self/self recognition is
every cell has marker based on the major histocompatibility complex and cells without this marker
or attacked as non self. This works so well that proteins that are not digested treated the same as
antigens.
There are certain diseases that break down the immune system and it attacks the self cells. These
diseases are called autoimmune and some of these are forms of diabetes and arthritis, systemic
lupus erythematosus and multiple sclerosis. When the immune system responds inappropriately to
innocuous substances such as allergies, this is called allergen.
The two fluid systems are the lymph and blood system are responsible for transporting the immune
systems agents through the body. The blood system contains five liters of blood which is about
seven percent of a person s body weight. Blood is made of fifty two to sixty two percent liquid
plasma and thirty eight to forty

The Rational Choice Theory Of Cesare Beccaria
The topic I have chosen to write this research paper over is the rational choice theory. The rational
choice theory started with the work of Cesare Beccaria in the late eighteenth century. From that
point forward, the theory has been developed and opened up to incorporate different viewpoints,
like discouragement and routine activity theory. The rational choice theoryis a monetary rule that
expresses that people dependably settle on reasonable and legitimate choices. These choices furnish
individuals with the best advantage or fulfillment, given the decisions accessible and are likewise in
their most elevated self interest.
Rational choice theory accepts that all individuals attempt to effectively expand their preference in
any circumstance and in this way reliably attempt to minimize their misfortunes. The hypothesis
depends on the possibility that all people construct their choices in light of sound figuring s, act
with discernment when picking, and intend to increment either delight or benefit. Rational choice
theory likewise stipulates that all unpredictable social wonders are driven by individual human
activities. Accordingly, if a business analyst needs to clarify social change or the activities of
social organizations, he needs to take a look at the balanced choices of the people that make up the
entirety.
The rational choice theory permits inclinations to be spoken to as genuine esteemed utility
capacities. Monetary basic leadership then turns into an issue of

The APRN has the necessary training to assess, diagnose and treat patients. As the role of APRN begin to expand the need to prescribe medications becomes very important. According to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), APRN practice in the United Statesis divided into three groups: full practice, reduced practice, or restricted practice. • 7. Variance Is A Statistical Method Used For Test Differences... Analysis of variance is a statistical method used to test differences between two or more means. ANOVA is used to test general rather than specific differences among means. An ANOVA conducted on a design in which there is only one factor is called a one way ANOVA. The One Way ANOVA is considered an omnibus test because it indicates whether or not there are any significant differences in the means between any of the groups. However, it does not indicate which mean are different. The One way ANOVA compares the means of the samples or groups to make inferences about the population means. The One Way ANOVA can compare the means of three or more groups. Furthermore, by running additional t tests an increase 5% error increases with every t test ran. An ANOVA, on the other hand, has a 5% error, that remains trough the duration of the test. Therefore, if one is running many controls the type I error remains at 5% and the researcher can be more confident that any statistically significant result you find is not just running lots of tests. In a one way ANOVA, the null hypothesis tested by rather the population means are equal, or that each of the group means is equal. If the null hypothesis is rejected, then it can be concluded that at least one of the population means is different from at least one other population mean. The alternative hypothesis, however, looks to see that at least two of the group means are significantly different. The assumption of independence is obtained if the observations are random and independent if they are to be representative of the populations and in no way related or dependent on another. The distributions of the populations from which the samples are selected are normal; This is commonly referred as the assumption of normality. • 8. Queueing Theory In Hospital Management Applications of queueing theory in hospital management: a literature review Abstract This paper reviews the applications and usage of the queueing theory in the aspect of health care management problems. This paper review presents a way of optimizing the use of hospital resources in order to improve hospital care. A queueing model is used to determine the main characteristics of the access of patients to hospital beds, such as mean bed occupancy and the probability that hospital care demand is lost because all beds are occupied. The aim of this paper review is to provide detailed information to analysts who are interested in using queueing theory to model a health care process and want to look into a technique for optimizing the number of beds in order to maintain an acceptable delay probability at a sufficiently low level. • 9. Enzyme Concentration This experiment was carried out with many precautions to minimise error margins. These measures included putting the measuring cylinders in the water bath/ ice box/ and bench top at the same time, using the same capsicum extract, having the same person record the results and add the capsicum extract. However there were still some results that exhibited error such as collecting the measuring cylinders at different times which prolonged the exposure, as well as have a delay between starting the timer and adding the capsicum extract. Other issues consist of having an uneven layer of foam (O2) which was a random error that made it difficult to record mL, and forgetting to record the temperatureof the H2O2. Ideally there should have been a gap between exposing each measuring cylinder to the change in temperature, so once one temperature was recorded the next one was ready rather than them overlapping. Another improvement in the experiment would be to assign the task of timing to one person and adding the extract to another person to diminish the gap between completing each of the tasks*. In addition, testing more temperature points or repeating the experiment would allow for a wider range of results and a higher accuracy reading of the ideal conditions for enzyme reactivity. ... • 10. The Ban Of Medical Marijuana Charlotte Figi, a six year old girl, had an untreatable form of epilepsy and used medical marijuana to save her life. Her parents had tried almost every medication to try and save her by the time she was two years old. Some nights she would get fifty seizures each night. Finally, her parents were able to get her a medical marijuana card in Colorado, and the new medication immediately stopped the seizures (Gummow, 8 Miraculous, para. 4, alternet.org). This is just one example of how unjust the ban of medicinal marijuana is. The ban of medical marijuana is unjust because people who need the medicine have been arrested and sent to prison for decades, the ban is based on outdated moral biases, and although some may argue that marijuana is a gateway drug, people who wish to use medicinal marijuana are using it to relieve specific symptoms that are not addressed by harder drugs. Charlotte s epilepsy is not the only condition for which medical marijuana can be used. First, the website ProCon.org states that medical marijuana is useful for sufferers of Alzheimer s Disease, anorexia, AIDS, cancer, Crohn s Disease, and many others (For Which Symptoms, para. 1, procon.org). Studies show that drugs, such as cocaine, and alcohol inhibit the growth of new brain cells. Many Arizonans remain concerned about the well being of Californians, while some may mistakenly think that it is not Arizona s problem. I was one of those people, and while investigated the idea, discover how Arizona is in a bad situation because of it. According to the CAP website, the CAP was developed when the seven states who rely on the Colorado River came together, and divided the water availability amongst themselves. This is known more formally as the Colorado River Compact of 1922. After many years of legislation and construction, the CAP started delivering water to Arizonans by 1993. The CAP brings water from Lake Havasu and goes through a series of canals extending 313 miles long, and is responsible for bringing water to 80 percent of Arizona s population. However, because of prior appropriation laws, the CAP does not guarantee that Arizona will receive its annual 2.8 million acre feet. Administrators at the CAP Strategic Initiatives and Public Policy Office predict that the 2.8 million acre feet of water delivered to Arizona, will soon decline. The CAP issue brief states, ...there is a significant probability of an official declaration of shortage in the Colorado River water supply starting as early as 2016 or shortly after (CAP, 2014). • 12. Gustave Flaubert A Simple Heart Essay Gustave Flaubert A Simple Heart Gustave Flaubert s short story, A Simple Heart, is the narrative account of one woman s painfully unrewarding life as a humble and blindly dedicated servant, Felicite. Throughout the story chronicling her life, she suffers a series of heartbreaking losses, but continues to love unconditionally nonetheless. A Simple Heart brings up themes of death and loss, and unquestioning duty and responsibility. It also calls into question conventional religious belief, through, among other things, Felicite s warship of the parrot, Lou Lou. Felicite represents each of these themes partly in her own ignorance and simplicity and, as a result, it is seemingly difficult to validate the authenticity of her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She has no control over the losses she endures; loss is inevitable. This idea of loss plays into another theme within A Simple Heart that of unquestioning duty and responsibility. It is Felicite s simplicity and, at times, her ignorance that allows her to so be so blindly devoted and caring. She works faithfully for little pay, and remains incredibly loyal to Aubain s family. For example, when she saves Aubaine and her children from a raging bull, she puts her own life in peril without a second thought. She takes no pride in this act, and has not the barest suspicion that she had done anything heroic (1023). She also displays this when she fails to see Virginie before she dies because she feels so strongly about making sure the house is locked and secure before she leaves to see her. Despite her pure heart, it seems that Felicite is never rewarded. This challenges the value of such blind and unshakable devotion in such an unrewarding and oftentimes cruel world. However, Flaubert s most significant idea presented in this story, one that is intertwined with death and devotion, is his questioning of mystical belief. Felicite s religious devotion seems arbitrary and indirect. Despite this, it also appears to be quite deep and meaningful to her. The irony lies in the fact that she gains most, if not all, of her religious experience vicariously ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although these laid the foundation for governmental, philosophical, and structural elements of the modern world, people s day to day life remained the same. The Renaissance and Reformation transformed the mind of the ancient man into the individualist of today. We will explore this transformation through three key steps: the philosophy of the time, the condition of the Catholic Church, and finally, the cultures response. I was intrigued by how programming could help me automate manual work, create utilities for everyday needs and still be so much fun. Hence, I pursued undergraduate studies in computer science and engineering. In my second semester, I presented a technical paper on minimally invasive surgery using robotics. I was excited by the prospects that the use of robotics can help patients to recover quickly with lesser operative distress. Later, I, along with three of my friends, conducted workshops on 3D animation using 3ds Max software. At that time, a typical computer science graduate from my university would work in the Indian software service industry. However, we decided to create awareness about opportunities like Pixar and ... • 16. The World Of North America The continent of North America had been inhabited by native Indian cultures for centuries prior to European expansion. The Indians had established their community systems around North and South America including what is now the northern, southern and western United States. Despite their existence in the Americas, Europeans countries still attempted to colonize the continent. While some historians might have argued the arrival of Europeans meant a better, freer life for most if not all people , this was primarily true for white Christian Europeans. Even though some colonists experienced more political freedoms, these freedoms were very limited. In reality, economic freedom was also limited for both Europeans and Indians; additionally, both groups suffered religious persecutionat the hands of the government and missionaries. The rights given to Catholics and Quakers to serve in political positions were not allowed in England. So, when the Europeans arrived to the new world, these new ideas were introduced. In 1680 Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn (46, Foner) and later promoted religious tolerance. This soon promoted political freedoms ... all person who also profess to believe in Jesus Christ...shall be capable...to serve this Government in any capacity, both legislatively and executively. In his allegorical novel The Quiet American , centered during the conflicts of the First Indo China War, author Graham Greene aims to portray the majority of relationships as being driven by selfish desires. Greene develops this motif through the eyes of protagonist Thomas Fowler, whose initial indifferent cynicism towards the war enhances the idea that personal gain and individual desires are the powering force behind the story s relationships. This egocentricity prevailing within the friendship of characters Thomas Fowler and Alden Pyle, as well as Fowler s affair with Vietnam, serves to further explore Greene s idea that personal gain plays a bigger role than affection in any relationship. • 20. The Importance Of Discrimination In The Film Industry the main synonym neither to the discrimination in the industry nor the lack of female professionals. Discrimination is not only lack of representation of the gender, but in this case also representation of only a small pool of women specialists (Paydar 5). The same female actors, directors, producers, writers, etc. are hired repeatedly, mostly those connected to the males at the top of the hierarchical ladder or having had experience and success with the same studio before (John 432 437). Existence of female professionals and hiring of a female for a project does not indicate the overcoming of systemic barriers. The question is not only in the number or percentage of women involved in the production, but about diversity and equal opportunities. Another component of initial hiring practices in filmstudios is correlation with law and associations requirements. Diversity requirement that is standard for the industry usually poses a quota that allows the employer to hire females or maleminorities. By providing a choice of hiring a male of color or a female, this provision allows studios to evade anti discriminationlaws (Paydar 8). Fighting all these exclusions based on sex and discrimination practices is possible mostly by individual court orders through several claims available to women within US laws (Bureau of National Affairs). However, there is a limited number of women in any field of the film industry who would go to court suing multimillion studios that control a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. A Hanging George Orwell Analysis George Orwell, an experienced Assistant Superintendent in the British Imperial Police, composed A Hanging after his resignation in 1927. The narrative is a personal testimony set in the 1920 s in Burma. Orwell uses the classical techniques of formal argument to depict the death of an unknown prisoner, while taking a position against the death penalty. George Orwell s Abolitionist message in A Hangingis conveyed through the prisoner, dog, functionaries, and their actions, words, and body language. The writer implies the prisoner s humanity by describing his emotions and ability to reason. After the execution, the Eurasian boy tells Orwell when the prisoner found out he would be hung, he pissed on the floor of his cell (Orwell 102). The boy s story signifies the prisoner s human characteristics through his reaction, as he was so scared he urinated on himself. As John Rodden notes, this happening creates sympathy (73). The action humanizes the prisoner, connecting the readers to him. Likewise, George Orwell details the condemned man s human like traits by describing the prisoner avoiding a puddle directly before his execution. This simple act causes a realization that the prisoner is also human. John Rodden states, The narrorator reinforces this point by drawing attention to the prisoner s humanity, as he a dead man walking diligently sidesteps a puddle (72). Rodden suggest that the dead man still has dignity to sidestep the puddle. The illustration of the prisoner s response to his death sentence and his avoidance of the water brings to the reader s attention that capital punishment is taking another human life. George Orwell conveys the prisoner as human in order to emphasis the dehumanization of capital punishment. As George Orwell states, He and we were a party of men walking together, seeing, hearing, feeling, understanding, the same world, and in two minutes, with a sudden snap, one of us would be gone (101). Orwell implies the prisoner is no different from him; yet, by killing the condemned man he is taking away his humanity. The author explains the prisoner s gait and stance as steady, bobbing from side to side with his knees bent. He does not protest, as he has accepted his fate. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. The Reasons behind Homosexual Discrimination One of the greatest poets of the twentieth century, Dr Seuss, once said, Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don t matter and those who matter don t mind . Essentially, this advice is applicable to any given individual, yet it seems that it is most suitable for homosexuals, and therefore why it lies within the heart of gay rights. It is inevitable, that as a minority group, homosexuals will find that they will encounter more people who mind than heterosexuals. This particular discrimination has been occurring for decades all across the globe; however it became prominent in the United States in the 1950s. In 1953, under President Eisenhower, it was decided that homosexualitywas a sufficient enough reason in itself to fire people from federal jobs. This executive order stood from 1953 until 1993, providing support to the idea that discrimination in employment ranked as the worst type of persecution gay people faced at the time, second only to physical assault. Throughout the 1950s and well into the 1960s, both lesbian and male drag queens suffered from frequent rapes and sexual assaults committed by police officers. Further, those same police officers were certainly no help when gays were being abused and raped by other hateful individuals. It was not until June 28, 1969 that a group of gay customers at the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in Greenwich Village, finally took a stand against the police harassment and created a riot. Symphony Number 45 in F# Minor (the Farewell symphony ) Between 1761 and 1790 Haydn was employed by the enormously wealthy Esterhazy family who had two palaces on the borders of Austria and Hungary. The court orchestra was similar to that of many baroque orchestras two oboes, a bassoon, a string ensemble and a harpsichord. But it also included a pair of horns instruments that became a regular part of the orchestra thereafter. It was this orchestra that accompanied operas in the palace theatre and played symphonies twice a week. Haydn s symphony number 45 in F# minor was first performed in the summer prince Nikolaus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The last movement of the Farewell symphony contains both styles. The presto is stormy, but the violent mood is restrained by its form. The major mode serenity at the start of the Adagio is later tinged with minor mode sadness and one of the strangest endings in symphonic music. Haydn s use of wind instruments is quite different from Bach s and shows how orchestration changed during the 18th century. Where Bach uses wind instruments to provide melodic lines within his contrapuntal textures, in this symphony Haydn uses them to add colour or weight to the string parts. In fact a performance of the presto on strings alone would make perfect sense. The oboes are used in two ways: they reinforce the violins in loud passages and provide sustained notes that bind the texture (eg bars 20 24) or give a reedy edge to discords (eg start of bars 25,27 and 29). Although printed on a separate stave in some scores the bassoon simply doubles the cello /bass part throughout the presto. Natural horns, like natural trumpets, could play only a limited number of notes. But by requiring the use of different crooks for the town horns Haydn is able to use a wider number of pitches that would otherwise have been possible. The horns most important job is to provide harmonic glue for contrapuntal passages such as bars 20 24 of the finale, where the second horn doubles the first oboe pedal ... • 30. Marine Mammal Bycatch Essay Throughout the years, marine mammal bycatch has continued to be a growing concern due to a steady increase in mammal mortality rates. Mike Gaworecki mentions in his article that during this past month the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration initiated a rule limiting seafood imports from different countries that do not meet the United States new bycatch standards. Bycatch is a term that means catching unwanted species when intending to fishfor a different type of species. On a daily basis multiple dolphins, whales, and other unwanted animals are being captured because of inappropriate or ill suited forms of netting and traps. By implementing this rule the United States government hopes to prevent and reduce future cases of inappropriate capture. NOAA claims that they feel this is necessary because they want to enforce more restrictions on fishery related marine mammal deaths, while influencing other countries to improve on their fishingmethods. The reason for this sudden ruling was because several conservation groups joined together to sue the American government for lack of improvement throughout the years on fishery imports from other countries. By losing this ruling, the United States government has been forced to change their standards in order to support a previous act they made in 1972, The Marine Mammal Protection Act. This act originally provided protection for all marine mammals and included their protection of population sustainability. Over the years, the government had failed to continue this protection with countries that they imported seafood supply from and thus led to stricter regulations. At each stage, the individual has, what he believed as, a developmental crisis. Developmental crises are issues in the stage that must be dealt with in order to move on to the next stage. Each stage offers an outcome as to what will happen if the crisis is not resolved. Incomplete development of one stage can effect later development. Erikson s developmental model can be used to determine when it is appropriate for an individual to learn how to use computers. The model can also help determine what... By this stage they should be able to use the mouse and click on various options by themselves (Kid Source Online, 2001). In this stage, computers teach children to learn hand eye coordination, memory and matchmaking, logical thinking, identifying opposites, problem solving, music and rhythm, and creativity stimulation (Kid Source Online, 2001). The fourth stage of development is industry versus inferiority. This occurs from age six to age twelve. Children in this stage either develop a sense of their own competence at tasks or they end up believing they are not capable of succeeding. Children learn to use tools and make things. They are making the transition from home to school. A sense of identity outside of the home is required. If children are successful in being productive and seeking success then they will develop competence. If they do not develop competence, they will develop a sense of inferiority. Parents and teachers should provide children with the opportunity to set goals and challenge themselves. This is a good time for parents to supply children with daily chores or tasks to complete. Children in this stage of development should have no problem learning and continuing to use computers. In this stage of development, computers may be used to enhance language skills, ... • 36. Analysis Of Greg Louganis Awareness For Diving Greg Louganis created awareness for diving. Diving is an olympic acrobatic sport performed on 2 grounds, a springboard and a platform Springboard diving is done from a flexible plank made of aluminum or steel and measuring 16 ft (4.9 m) long by 20 in. (51 cm) wide. It extends horizontally over the water at a height of 1 m (about 3 ft 3 in.) or 3 m (about 9 ft 10 in.). The flexibility of the board allows the diver to jumphigh into the air to execute various maneuvers before entering the water. Platform diving (also called high diving) is usually done from a tower 10 m (32 ft 10 in.) high that is not flexible and that projects nearly five feet (1.5 m) over the water. • 37. Examples Of Hypothyroidism In The Fault In Our Stars A quote that changed who I was. Optimistic or pessimistic, these were the two options I had when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. This diagnoses is common in women, but because they discovered it after many years I was put under observation in the hospital. The doctors were afraid that I might fall into a coma because of a procedure that was done earlier before discovering my thyroid did not function properly. • 38. 14000 Military Job Opportunities For Women Essay The Defense Department recently announced new policies that will open more than 14,000 military job opportunities to women. Which seems like a great step except that more than 200,000 positions will still remain exclusive to men, from front line infantry positions to high level special operations roles. States Dani Moritz from The Muse. (Mortiz) Women have been thrown out of spotlight when it came to genuine positions. Does this shout disparity for women, as well as stereotyping and it for the most part tosses women s rights ideal out of the window? Women began to climb the ladder and finally became equal to men, well almost. Women s rights include, but is not limited to positions that any man can hold, promotions that were not allowed beforehand last but not least socially and legal equality. As women, we can t continue to yell inequality when we are not on the same playing field as men. We, women, have more leverage than the men. Aspiring to be like men would require us to also go the same extra mile that the male has to also. Women s right is not for us to be equal while also being held on a pedestal at the same time. Equality goes both ways, it is for us, as well as men. The inequality of the military has men doing the double of what women do because they are seen as being mentally and physically stronger. This relates to the requirements of the military that they have in place which indeed need to be changed for it to be deemed as an equal service. This identifies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the earliest usage it was known as the term that carries with it all the obloquy and contempt and rejection which whites have inflicted on blacks (Isaacs, 1965). As black inferiority was at one time a near universal assumption in English speaking lands, the word in some cases could be used without deliberate insult. The word was also used by English settlers to describe dark skinned native peoples in India, Australia, and Polynesia In African Americanculture today, the word Nigger is utilized lovingly, or a term of charm. After the deal has been made, players will need to take a look at their cards. They can select any of the cards to be replaced, by using the buttons below them, or by clicking on the actual cards. Ling states that after the parents have accepted their child s deafness and they have accepted to work constructively with the child, they can do more for their children than any professional (Ling, 6). After the parents have accepted their child s impairment, they must take the necessary steps in deciding how their child will communicate. But, before they can make any decision as to which approach they will use with and for their child, they must first research and completely understand the aspects of each. According to Father van Uden of Sint Michielsgestel, [T]he essential characteristics of oral communication are: a communicative system that exclusively uses speech, residual hearing, speech reading, and/or vibrotactile stimulation with or without normal gesticulation in spontaneous conversation, and a system in which the teaching of language and of all subjects involved in languages conducted exclusively through its spoken and written forms.(Mulholland, 535). The manual approach stresses the use of signs in teaching deaf children to communicate. The use of theses signs is based on the principle that deaf children are unable to develop oral language, so they must use some other means of communication (Hardman, Drew, Egan, 435). The primary goal for oralism is to develop the speech and communication skills necessary for integration into the hearing community (Roach 2002). Advocates of this particular ... Other natures are adaptive/nature or acquired/innate, secondary/primary, passive/active, humoral/cell mediated and some parts or antigen specific. Antigen specific means when it recognizes certain antigens it will act upon them. Some pats are systemic which is the don t just stay at the infected area but go through the body and they have memory, so when they come the same antigen again they know, they will attack it even stronger. The non self/self recognition is every cell has marker based on the major histocompatibility complex and cells without this marker or attacked as non self. This works so well that proteins that are not digested treated the same as antigens. There are certain diseases that break down the immune system and it attacks the self cells. • 51. The Rational Choice Theory Of Cesare Beccaria The topic I have chosen to write this research paper over is the rational choice theory. The rational choice theory started with the work of Cesare Beccaria in the late eighteenth century. From that point forward, the theory has been developed and opened up to incorporate different viewpoints, like discouragement and routine activity theory. The rational choice theoryis a monetary rule that expresses that people dependably settle on reasonable and legitimate choices. These choices furnish individuals with the best advantage or fulfillment, given the decisions accessible and are likewise in their most elevated self interest. Rational choice theory accepts that all individuals attempt to effectively expand their preference in any circumstance and in this way reliably attempt to minimize their misfortunes. The hypothesis depends on the possibility that all people construct their choices in light of sound figuring s, act with discernment when picking, and intend to increment either delight or benefit. Rational choice theory likewise stipulates that all unpredictable social wonders are driven by individual human activities. Accordingly, if a business analyst needs to clarify social change or the activities of social organizations, he needs to take a look at the balanced choices of the people that make up the entirety. The rational choice theory permits inclinations to be spoken to as genuine esteemed utility capacities. Monetary basic leadership then turns into an issue of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
