Internet Privacy Analysis
Internet activist Eli Pariser says, You should know who has your personal data, what they have, and
how it is used. Chen Chi Shing describes internet privacy is essentially the ability to control what
information other individuals can view about another online (Shing, 31). Any internet user deals with
their own privacy online, but may see that there is not a definite way to guarantee it. With current laws
and policies, there are holes that certain people take advantage. Privacy is very hard to define in an
evolving society and may be viewed in ways that others see differently. There are different
perspectives on internet privacy from the eyes of the American internet user, companies, and the
United States Government. Hopefully, most Internet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ecological Systems Theory By Urie Bronfenbrenner
Ecological Systems Theory The Ecological Systems Theory was founded by Urie Bronfenbrenner.
This theory focuses on the impact of the environment on a child s overall development. The
identifying characteristics of Bronfenbrenner s theory are the five systems used to organize external
influences within a child s development. These systems are the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem,
macrosystem, and chronosystem. Each system is aligned with specific interaction levels. The
microsystem is considered to be the most intimate of the levels, in which development is dependent on
the immediate environment. The immediate environment would include adults, peers, and siblings
with influence to learning new behaviors and the environment in which the ... Show more content on

The Ecological Systems Theory applies to different aspects of the lifespan due to the ability to apply
the five systems continuously throughout the life span. The chronosystem can transition and change
within one s life. The macrosytem can align with infancy, this system setting examines the culture of
the individual. The exosystem can align with childhood into adolescent stages due to this systems
connection with forming healthy attachments. The mesosystem aligns with relationships throughout
life and peer interaction, this can take place in adolescence and continue throughout adulthood and
change based on experiences, in which the individuals Microsystem evolves (Wong, Hall, Justice
Hernandez, 2015, p. 32 33). There can be cultural, ethical, and legal concerns associated with this
theory are somewhat intertwined. The possible assumption that if a child is born poor, of ethnic
minority, raised in a violent setting, and neglected by parents foster care placement may lead to
disruption within the child s chronosystem. This can lead to attachment issues related to trauma,
increased fight or flight reactions that may lead to legal issues, academic challenges, and poor social
skills. There is a possible ripple effect from life events and socioeconomic status that could lead to
changes with behavior in association with the child s environment. Understanding this theory can help

The Extent Of The Government Role Of The American Economy
The Extent of the Government Role in the American Economy Nicolai Noordzy Northcentral
Technical College The Extent of the Government Role in the American Economy The economy was
one of the most pressing issues in the recent 2016 U.S. presidential campaign, which saw Republican
businessman and celebrity Donald Trump closely elected over former Secretary of State and
Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton. In many ways, the election can be seen as a backlash and
conservative effort against the economic philosophies and policies of the two candidates and their
parties, and on which candidate could better spur economic growth. The economy greatly affects all
American lives, often without the people s direct say, but nonetheless influencing how easy it is to get
a job, how quickly the prices of goods and services rise and fall in a market system, and how much
money people can spend or save for the future. In the third to fourth fiscal quarters of the year 2008, a
severe financial crisis began to loom over the global economy, resulting in further economic downturn
for the United States. Millions of people lost their jobs, and millions more would not be able to find
work thereafter. While the U.S. economy has improved since then, policy makers and both Trump and
Clinton have argued endlessly over the best way to drive the economy successfully into the future.

Write An Essay On Bioethanol From Ethanol To Brazil
Ethanol, also called ethyl alcohol or drinking alcohol, is an organic compound belonging to the
alcohol group. It could also be abbreviated EtOH. The hydroxyl, OH, functional group differentiates
the compound from the other organic compounds and hence shares some of the same physical and
chemical properties, with other alcohols. Ethanol is used as fuel, solvents and in alcoholic beverages.
It is also used as antiseptics, household cleaning products, varnishes and in alcohol thermometers
(Garcia). The molecular formula of ethanol is C2H6O, normally written as C2H5OH or CH3CH2OH.
The molar mass, boiling point and melting point of ethanol is 46.069g/mol, 78.29ºC and 114.14ºC,
respectively (Ethanol). Ethanol is a colorless liquid with a slight odor, soluble in water, flammable,
volatile and evaporates easily when left in the open (Garcia). Brazil is the largest country in the

Bioethanol is made from renewable resources hence, it is infinite. It is greener and better for the
environment by producing fewer greenhouse gases. More planting of sugarcane meant more uptake of
CO2 and release of O2. Ethanol also produces six less molecules of carbon dioxide when combusted
versus gasoline, seen in the following equations. C2H5OH + 3 O2  2 CO2 + 3 H2O (ethanol
combustion) versus C8H18 + 12.5 O2  8 CO2 + 9 H2O (gasoline combustion). Finally, a lot of
countries can be self reliant because these countries can grow the crop and possibly manufacture the
fuel (Advantages). While there are many advantages, there is one major disadvantage to worry about.
This disadvantage is using it for fuel or food. Brazil does not really have this problem, but in America,

Okonkwo s Obsession With His Father
Okonkwo is a character who has some positive traits but are greatly outweighed by his negative ones
including not being in control of his emotions and actions, constantly providing excuses for these
actions leaving him with no respect from me and an overall dislike. To start Okonkwo has an
obsession with his father. He was possessed by the fear of his father s contemptible life and shameful
life (Chapter 1) Unoka, his father was looked down upon by the village due to his laziness and
unsuccessfulness. In their village culture, Unoka could not have a proper burial due to his cause of
death and was shamed for it. However, this aside Unoka was incredibly caring, relaxed and was a very

It can be said that Okonkwo was doomed from the start seeing as his father did not provide for him,
leaving him to fend for himself early on but for me it is another sad excuse for his inexcusable actions.
Despite these very negative traits, Okonkwo does possesses some positive ones. For instance he is
very hardworking. This is shown throughout the book especially during harvest and planting seasons.
However Okonkwo s hard work does not make up for the fact that he is not in control of his
passionate hate for his father and fear of becoming like Unoka, allowing it overcome him causing him
to physically hurting people in his life. I have no respect for Okonkwo seeing as his actions due to his
fear and hate of his father paired with his excuses are not something that should ever be respected or
even tolerated leaving me to dislike him

Child Rearing Controversy
There are numerous philosophies on how to raise children. Several parents adopt the concepts their
own parents used, others seek advice from friends and there are those that read books about parenting.
Parents come in various and diverse forms, each approaching parenting in ways as distinct as their
personalities. Philosophies on child rearing can be grouped into two styles; authoritarian, authoritative
parenting. These two styles are similar sounding, but have nuanced differences. Authoritarian parents
hold their children to an exceedingly high level of status and success. In this style of parenting,
children are expected to follow the strict rules established by the parents. Failure in following rules
typically results in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using authoritative parenting style requires setting boundaries while still being able to listen and be
patient with the child. Here is an example of the authoritarian parenting style: A child is caught hitting
their playmate. The parent responds by grabbing the child and spanking them without any explanation
of why hitting is immoral. Thus punishing the child with the same misconduct the child has committed
results in mocking of the punishment behavior. Using authoritarian style requires the ability to be
dominantly harsh while giving punishment without an explanation. There are abundant differences in
these two styles, but the most significant discrepancy is in the end product: the children. An
authoritative parent will preserve the love and respect of his children and, when they reach adulthood,
they will continue this custom with their own children. An authoritative parent will know he has done
his job well in the raising of those children, because the relationships that were built will incessantly
last. The parents who choose a benign approach will obtain the rewards of having children that will be
the ones who have a good work ethic and who succeed in school because they wish to please their
parents. The parents who choose to rule by fear will see quite dissimilar results: their children are
probable to react out of that terror, which will only last as long as they are young;

Many struggles but I believe if you I work hard, it will paid off in the future. Logic or Intuition
Decisions are important and hard to make. People maybe decide quickly without thinking about the
consequences but on the other half, they will think about it back and forth then they will reply.
Christopher makes his point that people rely on their intuition so much, but I m kindly disagree with
him because it usually based on the ages. As people get older, they become more aware of they re
doing. Intuition usually evolves in easy decision, without any reasons they just decide as quickly as
possible to get out of that problem. I can t say which one people rely on more because they are
different and they solve the problem with their way. Did I used mostly logic or intuition to make the
decision? My answer is I used mostly logic to decide something. I feel like to have the comfortable
feeling, I should think back and forth, then use reasons so I don t have to hold any consequences later.
The way I solve the problem should comfortable others too because I don t want anyone get in trouble.
One time, I had to decide the money I have left, should I buy my favorite shoes or birthday gift for my

Monopoly Industry And Its Economic Effect
Monopoly Industry and its Economic Effect.
We live in a world where different economic systems exist and its existence is can create balances or
imbalances in the economical arena. These economic system can be characterized as Laissez faire
economy, command economy and a mixed economy, implemented by each state. Within those
segments of economy, a country can have companies following different structures of industries in the
marketplace with distinctive levels of competitions.
To understand how fluid a country s economy can be, it would be wise to understand a bit more about
the types of industries involved here. An industry can be described in four types; Pure competition,
monopoly, monopolistic competition and oligopoly.

Last, but not least industry is the monopoly industry and this is the industry we will dig further in this
discussion.
Since monopolistic competition or oligopolistic market structures are the most commons in the United
States, it would be very interesting to actually analyse more of the monopolistic structure industry and
how that impacts the economy overall. In order to understand more about the monopolistic industry is
important to understand the fundamental of this industry.
In the monopolist industry only one seller sells a products and take over the control of those products.
In this industry there is no close substitutes. Its also important to understand that in order for that to
happen this firms are given exclusive protection of production by the government. Not just by the
government, but these firms can acquire their monopoly through a smart and efficient free market
production and with economies of scale.
To better have a picture of a monopoly industry, why not given examples of one major monopoly
industry in the world, the Microsoft. Not sure if there is familiar to this product, but if anyone wants to
buy its software, windows is the only choice since they are the only ones who provides it. So whether
we like windows or not, if there is need for a computer that s the only one we can buy. Another
example, nationally recognized is the U.S postal service, where there is no competition and it s

Tardigrade Research Paper
Although animals have adapted to many different environments, there is one that trumps them all: the
tardigrade. Commonly called water bears and sometimes moss piglets, tardigrades are able to endure
many environmental stresses, such as dehydration and extreme temperature changes (Herkewitz).
They can even survive in space (Herkewitz)! This essay will prove that the tardigrade is the most
resilient animal on earth and give a glimpse into the everyday life of a tardigrade.
Tardigrades have been known to survive in environments that would kill nearly any other organism.
One such environment is outer space. Space combines many elements that would individually

When a tardigrade becomes a tun, it loses 97 99% of its body s water, and its metabolism slows to
0.01% of its ordinary speed (Herkewitz). Some of its cell contents are replaced with trehalose
molecules, a type of sugar (Herkewitz). They also coat themselves with large amounts of glassy
molecules produced by proteins unique to tardigrades (Crew). An abnormal amount of antioxidants
are produced to defend against reactive oxygen species, dangerous molecules that irradiate particles
containing oxygen (Herkewitz). There are four key types of cryptobiosis that tardigrades undergo:
anoxybiosis, cryobiosis, anhydrobiosis, and osmobiosis ( Tardigrades! ). The most common form is
anhydrobiosis, the type of cryptobiosis tardigrades go through when their body does not have enough
water to function as it usually does ( Tardigrades! ). This allows tardigrades to survive long droughts.
Of course, droughts are not the only problem water bears face. Tardigrades have been subjected to
many tests by scientists, and they took different forms depending on the test. Tardigrades will enter a
stage called cryobiosis that lets them survive extreme temperatures ( Tardigrades! ). When there is a
lack of oxygen that threatens a tardigrade, it will go into anoxybiosis ( Tardigrades! ). Thanks to this,
tardigrades do not need oxygen to survive in outer space. The final cryptobiotic form tardigrades can
enter is called osmobiosis ( Tardigrades! ). Osmobiosis is the least studied of all cryptobiotic forms
and occurs when there is an increase in the concentration of a solute in the water a tardigrade lives in (
Tardigrades! ). One example of osmobiosis would be if salt was poured into the water in which a
tardigrade was

In the Enron case, The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Congress conducted an
investigation into Enron s collapse. The authorities re examined the roles of corporate watchdogs,
including corporate boards of directors, auditors, investment banks, credit rating agencies and lawyers.
It could be that the watchdogs had too tight relations with the company s executives. That is why no
one questioned the Enron s aggressive accounting strategies. To prevent such collapses, someone
needs to look into the possible conflict of interest. The dilemma is that auditors should perform in the
interests of the investors, but they are paid by the audited company, which makes it more difficult for
them to exercise tough decisions. The auditors should not perform some particular consulting services
for the firms that they audit. Another belief is that there should be more severe consequences for those

Case Study Of Catering For Dementia
ntroduction Chapter One
1.1 What is Dementia?
Dementia is a broad term used to describe a various amount of diseases that are associated with the
decline in the mental state. One of the most common forms of dementia is Alzheimers. It is the main
culprit for almost half the cases of dementia seen in patients (O Shea, 2007). Other common forms of
dementia include vascular dementia, mixed dementia and lewy body dementia. The more uncommon
forms of dementia include picks disease, creutzfeldt jacob disease, parkinsons and huntington disease.

The various methods of housing and care facilities in the EU are housing with care, sheltered housing,

ignored due to the fact that the process of caring for them is difficult and stressful for nurses and

Whilst all of these technological developments were taking place in the F1 arena, Ferrari chose to
focus on it s long term strategy which focused on the development of the V6 turbocharged engine.
This essentially meant that their drivers were now competing with cars that no longer held a
competitive advantage, in fact the cars were now considered inferior. The fundamental flaw in this
instance was that Ferrari had ignored the change in trends in the immediate environment and stuck to
what they felt worked. The strategy was to exploits their strengths but neglected the opportunities that
presented themselves. They had failed to respond to an immediate threat, thus exposing their
weaknesses and allowing themselves to retrogress to the extent that Ferrari was no longer considered a
threat. This was further compounded by the problems that were being experienced between Audetto
and Laude, Ferrari s strength was derived somewhat from the relationship between Team Boss and
Driver and with Audetto not being able to accomplish this, it impacted on the performance of the
team. In addition, the heavy reliance on the driver, meant that the team was left at the mercy of it s

Essay about African American Religious Music
African American religious music is the foundation of all contemporary forms of so called black
music. African American religious music has been a fundamental part of the black experience in this
country. This common staple of the African American experience can be traced back to the cruel
system of slavery. It then evolved into what we refer to today as gospel music. The goal of this paper
is to answer three main questions. What are the origins of African American religious music? How did
this musical expression develop into a secular form of music? What is the future of African American
religious music? These questions will be answered through factual research of African American
traditions, artists, and various other sources. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gospel music was developed and inspired by the blues and jazz that was storming the country. Many
traveling, singing preachers began to accompany themselves with piano and guitar. An example of this
can be found with a gentleman who many refer to as the father of Gospel Music, Thomas A Dorsey.
The son of a minister, Thomas Dorsey was a consummate musician and as a young man, he
accompanied some of the most famous blues singers of all time including Bessie Smith and Ma
Rainey. He also arranged and composed blues tunes. However, his penchant for bouncy tunes and
bawdy lyrics did not keep him from attending the annual meeting of the National Baptist Convention.
It was at these conventions that Dorsey first heard compositions of Charles A Tindley. Tindley inspired
him. Musical historian Arna Bontemps argues that it was at this point in Dorsey s life when he began
to write religious music. He abandoned his brash lyrics but not the jazz rhythms and blues flavor.
Naturally, older conservatives considered this blending of sacred music, such as spirituals and hymns
with secular music, such as blues and jazz, to be devil s music. They shunned it and declared Dorsey s
brand of gospel music unworthy of a hearing within sanctuaries of the day. The traditional church
failed to see the positive influence contemporary

Death Foretold Symbolism
Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez wrote Chronicle of a Death Foretold as an allegorical
recollection of events regarding a murder that occurred many years before writing the novel. The
novel takes place in a Colombian town during the 1950 s, in which Marquez highlights many issues
regarding Latin American society, including the significance of virginity. In Chronicle of a Death
Foretold, Marquez employs symbolism of flowers, both real and artificial, to convey the cultural
significance of virginity within Latin American society in the 1950 s.
Flowers, in nature, embody beauty and fragility and must be protected from the dangers of the world.
In this novel, flowers not only display purity and beauty, but also indicate virginity, or lack ... Show

At Angela s house, the wedding decorations consist of bouquets of wax orange blossoms (66). In Latin
American culture, orange blossoms represent virginity as well as chastity in a wedding. However, the
artificial depiction of Angela s orange blossoms symbolizes the fraud of Angela s virginity. Later in
the novel, when Angela decides she does love Bayardo, she had made cloth tulips... and she became a
virgin again just for him (93). Although Angela tries to repossess her lost virginity, she still makes
cloth tulips which represents the artificialness of her futile attempts. Marquez uses Angela to show the
lack of virginity within society and to also express the importance of perceivement in society.
Furthermore, Marquez embedds artificial flowers in many other instances surrounding Angela. One of
these is the first time Bayardo saw Angela. She crossed the square carrying two baskets of artificial
flowers (28). This implies that Angela had lost her virginity before meeting Bayardo which disgraces
women in Latin American society because it represents the loss of honor for both the woman and the
family. When the narrator describes the rearing of the Vicario girls, he states they knew how to... make
artificial flowers (31). As a young child, Angela made artificial flowers which implies that Angela lost
her virginity at a very young age. Angela s friends comfort her about the loss of virginity by telling her
that almost all women lost their virginity in childhood accidents (38). This confirms that Angela did,
in fact, lose her virginity in a childhood accident and that Santiago did not take it from her.
Furthermore, as Angela grows, she [made] cloth flowers and [sang] songs about single women with
her neighbors (32). This statement correlates flowers with single women because single women are

Essay On Soul Tour
On the 23 of September 2017 around 7:30pm I went and saw Tim McGraw and Faith Hill preform
their Soul 2 Soul tour at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. I have never seen either of the two
preform live in concert only on shows like the Country Music awards until this date. Having been a
fan of country music and growing up in a family who has always been fans of this genera of music, I
have listened to them both since and have been a huge fan of them each since. I wanted to see them
live not only being a fan of the two artists separately, but also this is the first time they have toured
together in quite a while, if not the first, so it would not only be a once in a lifetime event but also a
chance to see two of my favorite artists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seemed at the start of the show they sang songs that where at the start of their music careers and
progressed through their career. They sang each song as a duet no matter if it was a Tim or Faith song.
My favorite song of the night was Tim s Stay Humble and Kind and Faith s I need you , which was an
encore song. During the encore everyone thought that the show was over, but Tim came out into the
Stadium seat and Faith walked through the floor seats and they sang. The special effects added even
more to the experience. I would go back and see the same exact show if I had the chance. The crowd
was a very respectful crowd. For me it did not seem to be the stereotypical crowd that you would
imagine at a summer concert that this was. People where up and singing and dancing to the music and
where having an overall good time listening to the music. The crowd ranged from little kids to adults,
but everyone was almost in unison with the music, it s a weird thing to experience. From where my
family where sitting we did not see that much alcohol being drank and even less intoxicated people.
With this you could really enjoy the show without having to deal with annoying drunk fans. If you
accidently bump into someone they where respectful and apologized. You could talk to your family
and Tim and Faith would encourage you to sing along to the music by stopping mid song and you
would sing without them.

How Does The Odyssey Relate To Life Today
A work of literature becomes important to us when we feel that it relates to our lives. The Odyssey
relates to life today in many ways, courage, trust, discipline, loyalty to family and community, and
obeying human or divine laws. In today s society courage, trust, and discipline are very important, this
is also true in the Odyssey. Odysseus showed great courage with his plan of blinding Polyphemus the
cyclops, with a huge heated spear. Odysseus also showed trust in his men when passing the singing
sirens, trusting them to keep the bees wax in there ear and keep him tied up against the mast of the
ship. Odysseus also has great discipline and wisdom, when he warns his men to leave the city of
Ismarus after they plundered it, before the Cicones

British Politician Polarized Opinion Like Margaret Thatcher
No British politician polarized opinion like Margaret Thatcher did. Loved and hated in equal measure,
she dominated the political landscape for fifteen years, first as Leader of the Opposition and the
Leader of the Conservative Party, and then as Prime Minister. Strengthened by her ideas, she had a
vision for the United Kingdom, one that put it back on recovery and destroyed the socialist state
established by the Post War consensus. She took on the image of the Iron Lady and fought for
economic and political freedom around the world. Her new approach and personal style revolutionized
not just Britain, but in fact, the entire world. Margaret Hilda Thatcher (née Roberts) was born October

Without a doubt, Margaret Thatcher was an incredibly intelligent woman, earning the spot of Head
Girl at her local grammar school and later attending Oxford University, where she studied research

her diary, these Conservatives seem to hate Capitalism! Regardless of her frustrations though, she
fascinated her peers at the Oxford Conservatives Association with her writings and in 1946, they
elected her as one of the first female Presidents of the organization; a prelude to the 1975 leadership
contest. Graduating the following year in 1947, Thatcher began a career in chemistry, meanwhile
studying for the bar in her spare time. In 1949, Thatcher made her first political run in the Labour held
seat of Dartford. Previous Conservative candidates hobnobbed only with the elite of Dartford, but
Thatcher took an entirely different approach. Foreshadowing her strategy in the 1979 general election,
she instead went to the poorer parts of town; spoke with the common people, and began relating with
them. The strategy worked, cutting the Labour lead in half, but failed to provide Thatcher with a
victory. Trying repeatedly in 1950 and 1951, she still could not win the election. While in pursuit of a
Parliamentary seat, she met an affluent executive, Denis Thatcher.

Compare And Contrast Jefferson And Jackson
While Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson laid their interests in distinctive areas of the nation and
enforced their beliefs with differing actions, many similarities can be found between the two
presidents. For example, both presidents portrayed themselves as the common man , advocating for
the lower classes and believing that the federal government should not be involved in state affairs.
Both opposed the ruling of the aristocratic elite and advocated for equal rights for all, special
privileges for none . However, although both believed that majority should have power, Jefferson and
Jackson had contradictory views on education, holding office, and industrialization all of which
influenced their actions as president. Jefferson changed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both Presidents wanted to support the common man and create a government where the majority
carried the most influence. They opposed the Bank and believed the Constitution gave specific powers
to the President, and were both democrats who believed the nation was founded on the work of the
lower classes, and that the rich should not receive special privileges simply because of their status.
Jefferson was against anything that he felt would hurt the common man , such as the Bank and a
strong central government. He was also a strong supporter of the Bill of Rights, advocating for
protecting the privileges of the people. Jackson favored common people over the wealthy and his
presidency shifted the power from New England to the western farmers. He also opposed the Bank,
and furthered his opposition when he took drastic measures to dispose of the Bank. Jefferson and
Jackson were undoubtedly similar in their drive and willingness to provide the best for the common
man . While they were similar in this way, Jefferson bent his ideals while purchasing the Louisiana
Territory because it was an opportunity for the nation. Jackson, however, stayed true to his policies
and shut down the Bank because the Constitution did not give him the power to create one. Jefferson s
support of the common man was limited to farmers, whom he supported by promoting nation wide
education, suppressing industrialization and expanding the boundaries of America. Jackson s support
was more intense, taking the money out of the Bank and dispersing it into state banks for example. He
supported the laborers and mechanics by believing that anyone is qualified for office, and by removing
the Indians from lands west of the Mississippi in order to calm internal

The French And Haitian Revolution
THE AMERICAN, FRENCH AND HAITIAN REVOLUTION3The Haitian RevolutionThe Haitian
Revolution which took place in the year 1791 and went up to 1803 faced twelve years of insurgency
and infighting in a bid to abolish the then entrenched slave trade (Geggus, 2002). The revolt in Haiti
started as a result of a misunderstanding between the mulattoes and the whites which then escalated
into a fully fledged warfare in which the slaves fought with the aim of taking back their freedom from
their white masters (Bryan, 1984). In summary, therefore, the Haiti Revolution can be termed as a
political movement which sought the abolishment and culmination of a long ongoing slave trade,
decolonization, and racial impartiality. In 1804, having won over the whites, ... Show more content on

As a result, the Napoleon together with the French revolutionary armies invaded the European
colonies armed with radical institutional reforms and changes (Acemoglu et al., 2009). The French
aimed to get rid of the judicial and economic set standards which had initially offered protection to the

about the proposition of the law of equality for all humankind and thus promote liberty for each and

Gothic Elements In Turn Of The Screw, And The Other
Gothic Literature is a form of literature that represents the supernatural or unknown elements found in
many literary pieces. Gothic Elements consist of dark atmospheres, the supernatural, uncanny figures,
damsel in distress, physiological breakdown, and many other elements. Elements of gothic literature
are usually not used in a literal sense; authors usually use metaphors to get the aspect of gothic
literature across to the audience. Elements of gothic literature are presented throughout the book Turn

the ghosts over the safety of the children. Within her first couple of days at the house, she is already
seeing the ghosts of the old governess, Miss Jessel and the butler, Peter Quint. In the book, the
governess constantly tells about her concern that the children are in danger. In the book, James writes,
Dear little Miles, dear little Miles, if you knew how I want to help you! It s only that, it s nothing but
that, and I d rather die than give you a pain or do you a wrong ; this shows the governesses helpless

trying to get him to tell her Quint blew out the candles but Miles replies that it was him (James 108).
This leads her to become distressed over her inability to protect the children from the ghosts. Thus,

War. At times it may be a beneficial concept and at other times it seems like an idea that should ever
happen. More often than not war is a brutal thing that leads to unnecessary death of multiple people
who deserve more than what war has given them. And the consequences that come in result of war
lead to more emotional and physical tear than most people need to suffer in a lifetime. The theme of
consequences of war is present in both the book Johnny Got His Gun and the movie Shenandoah
through the representation of loss, physical, mental and psychological turmoil, and the reality that war
can never be undone. The novel Johnny Got His Gun is based on the story about a young soldier

As said earlier in the essay this theme is showcased by the thought of loss, however loss is not the
only way that the consequences of war is shown. In both these sources, the theme is shown through
physical, emotional and psychological war that takes places both during the war and after the war. In
Johnny Got His Gun, Trumbo shows readers countless times throughout the book the physical,
emotional and psychological impact that war left on joe. One specific example of Joe experiencing
these things is when during the book Joe describes how he is feeling due to the physical, emotional
and psychological impact that war left on him. In the book Trumbo says It was like a full grown man
suddenly being stuffed back into his mother s body. He is lying in stillness. He is completely helpless.
Somewhere sticking in his stomach is a tube they fed him through. That is exactly like the womb
except a baby in its mother s body could look forward to the time when it would live. (Trumbo 80).
This quote explains where Joe is both physically and emotionally due to the war. Throughout the book
Joe explains how he emotionally felt like he is a baby trapped in the womb, and how he could not
perform the most basic human functions. Through Joe s thoughts and feeling the theme of the
consequences of war emotionally are clearly presented taken from the book. Just like in the book, the
movie Shenandoah shows the physical, emotional and psychological impact that war leaves just like in
the book. This specific theme is shown right after the two characters Jenny and James got married.
During their wedding James is unexpectedly taken and thrown into war and forced to leave his lovely
wife and enter war and all that war bring. This specific part in the movie relates directly to the theme
of consequences of war by detailing how specifically Jenny had to deal with the emotional

Conventional females were considered to be second class citizens who were expected to refrain in

expected to remain at home whilst their respective husbands ensured the upkeep of the family by
managing the family finances. The male population at this point in time ignorantly viewed women as

However, it does give us a complete impression of a Renaissance nobleman. The dramatic monologue
begins with an insight into the Duke s interest in the collection of fine artwork. In the same way, we
can establish that the Duke also enjoys the collection of women, in the way that he introduces his next
piece of art.
That s my last Duchess...
Line 1
The Duke seems to be a man who expects his wife to be the
conventional female, and abide by the strict gender roles that existed at this period in history. He
repeatedly downgrades his wife, and makes out that she doesn t appreciate the high social rank which
she has married into. He even goes as far as indicating that his wife has been unfaithful all an attempt
to really try and justify his reasons as to why he gave commands .
[She] had a heart how shall we say? too soon made glad.
Line 23
In this quote, Browning tells us that his last duchess was easily pleased by compliments that she
received from other people. We sense that she also voices her gratitude for these compliments, and in
this way, the Duke has become disillusioned and because of this, he downgrades his wife for basically
being a nice person.
In another pretty feeble attempt to justify his actions, he tries to make his wife out as a disrespectful
person. He tells how every single gift that she received from various people would draw from her
alike the approving speech . From here, the Duke

Africa that helped end
Apartheid in South Africa. As stated, his political activity started when the apartheid policy of racial
segregation won the elections (Nelson Mandela Leadership 2015). When he began to realize
nonviolence would not suffice, he resorted to guerrilla warfare to achieve his means.
As stated, United States deemed Mandela as a terrorist and refused him entry (Nelson Mandela

Reasons Of The Deterioration Of Mughal Empires
The Declination of the Mughals Empire Basically, the main reason that can be the factors of the
deterioration and destruction of a government is that the lack of unity among the communities itself.
The unity among the people in particular race or civilian is crucial in order to maintain the stability of
the government. In the other words, solidarity between citizens is the core element in order to ensure
the integrity of a government. In the historical world, there are numbers of the great empires. But, the

The Tragedy Of Macbeth By Raphael Holinshed
Do we really know all of the facts about Macbeth solely based on Shakespeare s play? Shakespeare
took great liberties with the material in Raphael Holinshed s series called, Holinshed s Chronicles,
altering it to suit his dramatic purposes (McGraw, 306). Most of the information in the play, The
Tragedy of Macbeth is based off of Holinshed s books, therefore, Macbeth is portrayed extremely
different in the play than he actually was in reality. Macbeth was born in c. 1005 at Alba, Scotland.
His parent s names are Findlaech mac Ruaidri and Doada. Macbeth s father was Mormaer of Moray
until he was killed by his cousin s, Malcolm and Gillecomgain, which was possibly brought on by
Findlaech being too close to Malcolm II. His mother was the second daughter of Malcolm II
(bio.com). Macbeth married Gruoch, also mentioned by the name of Lady Macbeth in the play, and
she had a son named Lulach, which made him Macbeth s stepson (Heydt, 55 7). Macbeth died on
August 15, 1057 at Lumphanan, Scotland. He was buried in the Holy Isle of Iony, which was where
many of the Scottish kings were buried (bio.com). When Macbeth s father was murdered, he
disappeared for a while because he was not mature enough to take on that kind of responsibility so
someone else took his place until he was able to make rational decisions on his own and until he was
mature enough to carry on his father s legacy by taking on the title of Mormaer of Moray (Heydt, 55

As Planes Get Bigger, the Market-Place Gets More Competitive
CASE STUDY 3
AS PLANES GET BIGGER, THE MARKET PLACE GETS MORE COMPETITIVE
I INTRODUCTION
Globalisation rapidly changes marketing environment and marketplace become more competitive. It is
no longer enough for company to be driven by product and technology without building customer
relationship (Kotler, Adam, Denize and Armstrong 2009). Moreover, business success is not
determined by the producer but by the customer (Drucker 1973 cited in Kotler et al. 2009, p. 4). Thus,
in order to achieve organisation s goals, marketing management needs to be flexible to adapt
continuously changes of the environment.

Thus, marketers must adjust and adopt these changes in their promotional policies to target on the
broader range of requirements.
2 Political and legal: give both opportunities and challenges ← Law: Regulation is enforced by
government to protect passengers, the interests of society from business practices and prevent unfair
competition (Kotler et al. 2009). ← Deregulation: Government regulates domestic marketplace.
Recently, international Open Skies policies between many countries have established more
competition for airline companies (Taube 2009). Increasing deregulate marketplaces greatly affect the
business and marketing strategies. It gives more opportunities as well as increases market competition
between international airlines, regional airlines and low cost airlines. ← Terrorism: The effect of
terrorism in air travel industry is catastrophic (Shaw 2004). A terrorist attack could seriously decrease
in demand for air travel due to safety and security concern (Graham 2006). Similarly, instability policy

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Studying Abroad
In the last century, the contemporary world has become more globalized than before. There has been a
worldwide integration in different fields of life such as economic, political, business, trade, financial,
and educational fields. In order to deal with this globalization, students, in all over the world, should
be opened to other countries and cultures which exceed the boundary of their nation. Studying abroad,
which means leaving the homeland country and pursuing the education in another country ( Dervin
Byron, 2008), could be one of the ways for the students to explore this globalized world. It has been
mentioned by the Institute of International Education (IIE) that in the last two decades the number of
students studying abroad worldwide has tripled (Lieb, 2016). Should students be more encouraged ...

Their point of view is that it is hard for these students to be responsible for arranging money for
university s tuition fees and for their living expenses. Although that is correct to a certain extent, there
are some weaknesses in this view. Firstly, students who have the intention to study abroad would put a
prior financial plan with their parents. That helps them to know their budget, and to spend money
according to it. Also, if there are some unexpected circumstances happen, they will be assisted
financially by their parents. Secondly, some universities and schools provide full or partial
scholarships for the international students (Cadd,2012). For example, University of British Columbia
offers scholarships and other forms of financial aid for international students. Thirdly, many students
can work part time jobs while studying to earn money. That will help them to cover their personal
expenses (Tyner,2013). There are many jobs that these students can work such as working in a

Integrated Marketing Research for KidZania
Part one
KidZania is a Mexican Company that was established in 1997 and started operating two years later in
Mexico City with La Ciudad de los Niños as its first business brand name. The name means The City
of Children in Spanish. The company was founded by current CEO, Xavier Lopez Ancona, and is still
a privately owned business. The brand name was later changed to KidZania when the company
opened up to franchising, which made the name simpler and internationally recognizable. KidZania is
one of its kind in the edutainment industry. It welcomes children aged between 4 and 16 years to work
as adults in a city full of jobs that are sponsored by real brand names. For example a kid can cook and
wrap sandwiches at McDonalds the same way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dangers Of Concussions In Football
Football is the most popular sport in the U.S. About 1.4 million people watch the NFL season and
about 111.9 million people watch the NFL Super Bowl. Although it is the most popular sport is it the
most dangerous? There are many people getting concussions, injuries to the Meniscus, Groin Pull,
Hamstring pull, etc. It is rare for pro football players to obtain injuries, but it is more common for high
school and college football players to get injuries, sometimes serious. The NFL does notice that
football is a dangerous sport and assign many protections like pads and helmets, but it doesn t stop
kids from getting serious injuries. Football players are known for getting crazy injuries. Injuries tend
to happen to high school and college players because pro players know how to avoid getting injuries.
A study in 2007 revealed that about 7.23% of high school students got serious head injuries and about
0.67% for college players. There are so many injuries football players get but the most common are
leg injuries like injuries to the Meniscus, Groin Pull, Hamstring Pull, Tear, or Strain, Iliotibial Band
Syndrome.Pulled or Strained Calf Muscle. The sad thing is that there are kids that get these kinds of
injuries and don t get the right amount of rest time because of coach s urging kids to shake it off and
get back on the field, putting them at risk of getting a serious injury to their legs. Teens who play in
Junior high and High school have undeveloped brains. If they take hits

Essay on Historical Roles of Men and Women in Leadership
While analyzing professions held by men verses those held by women through history, the concept of
history that needs to be observed is a vast period of time. For if all or most of known history about
humans is not taken into consideration, then much of present day analysis of leadership gender roles
might actually start to make sense. The previous sentence was not an error in thought or printing.
Much of modern analysis of gender perspectives in leadership and the roles of men and women seem
to forget the thousands of years of history and the more recent, evolution of gender equality, which has
taken place to get to where we are at present day. The key word is evolution; we are slowly but
steadily evolving into a better and more efficient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To analyze the many histories of people, a person must look to the historical aspects of that particular
culture. The culture of any one group of people is usually passed down through generations via family
and community. Whether the culture is nomadic tribal peoples of Mongolia or a modern day Roman
Catholic Italian American family, the culture and its typical roles for men and women are passed along
through each community. Tradition is also a source to be traced when looking at a group s historical
gender role development. A people s culture will usually go hand in hand with their traditional values.
These interlaced values of culture and tradition unite and bind families as well as communities
together with one another. When traditions are passed along from one generation to another,
sometimes the idea of questioning said traditions never enters ones mind. Some people are taught that
this is just what you are supposed to do, while others do not want to buck the current culture. This
being said, whatever role a person s gender might have played in their parents life, that role will
probably be the same or very similar in that person s life. Yet another thread that is interlaced with a
people s history and culture is that long, entangling string of religion.

Urban Land Use And Transportation Planning
Question 1. This approach has several advantages. First, it provides much more spatially detailed
information than traditional data at the aggregate level of planning districts. Hence, using this
disaggregate information, we can suggest policy implications to establish specific land use and
transportation planning. UrbanSim, one of the advanced microsimulation model developed by
University of Washington, uses gridcells of 150*150 meter, which presents spatially detailed structure
and enables researchers to evaluate current urban land use patterns as well as predict future urban land
use change at the micro level. However, a building scale analysis provides much more benefits
because it is a more realistic model and can be easily combined with current urban big data. For
example, if this agent based model is combined with complex human behaviors data, it can provide
much more specific information for predicting events of an emergency such as a building fire and
disasters from earthquake or tsunami. Also, if this model is combined with information on spatial
human activities from mobile phone, it can provide great benefits for managing spatial and temporal
planning for the urban places. More specifically, we can identify hot spots during daytime and
nighttime, which can help to predict travel demands as well land use demand. Second, with the
building scale dataset, we can deal with a variety of urban problems and issues. For example, energy is
one of the big issues in our

Counterfeiting In The Fashion Industry
Consumers want quantity over quality. Nowadays, it appear more and more of the regular consumers
are uninterested in the quality of the product they buy, but rather how much they will acquire from it.
This leads to consumer purchasing fashion counterfeit products which is becoming a rising issue in the
United States and Europe. Counterfeiting is an illegal act of producing and selling a replica of an
authentic product without the permission of the designer. This market expands from movies, games,
money, even medicine to clothes and accessories. Counterfeiting is a fast growing industry that is a
worldwide problem which consumers play a vast role in. Aside from harmless pirated movies and the
danger of fake pharmaceuticals, fashion takes up the largest portion of counterfeit goods. To support
this statement, according to Simms, Thomas explained, luxury brands are among the most
counterfeited products today the World Customs Organization states that the fashion industry loses up
to $9.7 billion...per year to counterfeiting (Simms 2). The unethical act of counterfeiting continues to
rapidly increase, it is affecting almost all areas of the industry (Hilton et al. 346). This is a massive
problem because it impacts the world socially and economically. Since counterfeiting is illegal, sales
total are not being registered, therefore, it affects tax revenues and other government spending.
Besides tax revenues, unemployment rate decreases in America and Europe, hence the

How the Discoveries and Culture of the Renaissance have...
The renaissance was a time of intellectual development, with a new focus on humanism, and an
abandonment of the prevailing church ideals, with this newfound appreciation on human potential, and
scientific discovery shaped the time, and belief structure. In addition, this was the time where one
might encounter, one or several of these remarkable talented Renaissance individuals, which ranged
from artisans, to scientists, sculptors, philosophers, painters, and poets. It would have been exciting
seeing them bustling around in a day to day environment, I could only imagine, walking into the
Vatican and viewing Michelangelo at work painting the Sistine chapel. The sheer scope of and
monumentality of this undertaking was truly enormous task, at over 5500 sq. ft. This was the
culmination of the ambitions of, Pope Julius II, and the aspirations of Michelangelo himself. Working
from scaffolds over 70, Ft. high above the floor, was physically daunting, the angels and height alone
were an undertaking unto themselves. I am in awe at the talent and ingenuity used to create such a
beautiful piece of artwork. The result was truly a spectacular work of art. The photos are even
remarkable, and wonderful to view. The Renaissance brought about no shortage of amazing
individuals. Giotto, Donatello, Durer, and Leonardo Da Vinci to name just a few. Giotto for instance
was referred to as the father of Renaissance paintings, his talent in painting the Jesus ascending into

I Am A Third Culture Kid (TCK)
Born to a Moroccan father and a French mother had a great impact on my upbringing. More so, being
the child of a diplomat. It has definitively brought its shares of benefits and sometimes unexpected
challenges and you can say that I am a Third Culture Kid (TCK). I have had the unique experience of
being exposed to and living in cultures different from my home culture for long periods of time and
that exposure has been found to have an impact on the level of authoritarianism that I am exhibiting. It
has been brought to my attention that in my professional and personal life, I have a tendency to try to
impose my opinion on others. Moving forward, I am seeing myself trying to change this perception
that others have of me as being too aggressive (not in the physical sense), too abusive or too direct and
even sometimes excessively curt or critical. In retrospect, I found myself many times thinking if
something I had said or a reaction I had was uncalled for. I know that a change to a specific trait(s) in
one s personality cannot occur overnight, but admitting that I have flaws is a good precursor to
change. My assessment survey also unraveled an interesting gap (negative) between how effective of a
leader I think I am and what others think. I breathe a sigh of relief when seeing that at least I am being
seen as a somewhat effective leader despite being too demanding and direct. Ultimately, my vision or
the big change as I would like to call it, should start by

Us Soldiers And Nazi Concentration Camps
US Soldiers Reaction to Nazi Concentration Camps
When we walked through those gates...1 saw in front of me the walking dead. There they stood. They
were skin and bone. They had skeletal faces with deep set eyes. Their heads had been clean shaved.
They were holding each other for stability. I couldn t understand this. I just couldn t. So I walked
around the camp; I wanted to...understand more. I went to a building where they stored body parts
from medical experiments in jars of formaldehyde. I saw fingers and eyes and the hearts and genitals.
I saw mounds of little children s clothing. Little children who didn t survive. I saw...all of those things
that belong to little children. But I never saw a child....If this could happen here, it could happen
anywhere. It could happen to me. .one often wonder what I would have done if, in 1939, my family
and I had been caught up in this and for all those years nobody, not nobody, would help us. I would
have been a bitter man... This statement was spoken by Leon Ball, a liberator of Buchenwald, the first
concentration camp to be discovered by the American forces ( Oh, No, It Can t Be ). When the United
States army discovered the concentration camps, it refuted their previous thoughts that everything
heard was exaggerated; these exaggerations were now seen as understatements. Though the troops
who had seen the horrific images of the camps and survivors had much sympathy for the survivors, it
was lacking that sympathy once the United States

Predicting Preferences
Predicting Preferences
Prediction involves making a statement concerning the likely value of an event or action uncertain or
unknown at the time of the statement. Since the theory of probability, (inaugurated by the French
mathematicians Blaise Pascal and Pierre Fermat in 1654), was developed to quantify uncertain events
in terms of their likelihood of occurrence, formal prediction is now viewed as a mathematical topic
involving probabilistic modeling. Indeed, the mathematician Karl Pearson said in 1907 that the
fundamental problem in statistics is prediction. Prediction, however, is usually not an end goal itself,
but rather means to put probabilistic bounds on the relative frequency or likelihood of occurrence of

Bernoulli resolved the paradox by postulating that people do not make choices based on the expected
rewards alone, but rather based on the value or pleasure that each individual pay off is likely to yield
to them. He said The determination of the value of an item must not be based on the price, but rather
on the utility it yields.... There is no doubt that a gain of one thousand ducats is more significant to the
pauper than to a rich man though both gain the same amount. He suggested there was a function U(w)
(called a utility function) which describes the amount of value or utility that the individual gains by
having an amount of wealth w. Rational individuals prefer more money to less money, so U(w) is
increasing, but the incremental value of more wealth decreases as one becomes wealthier (decreasing
marginal utility or value of wealth) so U(w) is concave. Bernoulli stated that people determined how
much to pay for the game or gamble not based on the gamble s expected value but rather it s expected
utility. Thus, if x1, x2, ..., xn are the possible outcomes of an uncertain economic endeavor or gamble,
and their probabilities of occurrence are p1, p2, ..., pn then a decision maker with an initial wealth of
W would make decisions based on their expected utility of their final wealth, U(W+x1)*p1 +
U(W+x2)*p2 +...+ U(W+xn)*pn. Using this approach, one can predict preferences between two
uncertain events by

The Other Family By Himani Bannerji
Individuals should learn to accept themselves for who they are, not what society wants them to accept.
As we continue to evolve, we build up our own characters, and they are typically a mix of the
ethnicity and culture we inherit from our family, various encounters in our life, distinctive identity and
personality we have. Our character and identity is not something that we get easily, it s an intricate
process. The story The Other Family by Himani Bannerji is based on a mother and a daughter who
immigrates to Canada. They belong to a black family, but after the immigration they are living in the
dominance of the white society. The school is considered as the hegemony of Canada and teacher is
considered as the mainstream, it is a sort of social institution that a hegemony shape but they does not
know the awareness of marginalized groups. The mother feels anxious when she sees a drawing of a
white family by her daughter. It was the misperceptions of the kid that lead to forget her identity or
she was too small to identify it. So to examine about the identity of the marginalized individual the
beginning is to focus on the quality of the education. It is necessary for every school system to teach
equality and inclusions of every group status so that the marginalized group are not left isolated from
the society. Secondly, the fear of the marginalized parents from losing their kids in the mainstream
society shows their lack of confidence in their own cultural pride. Since

Business For The Glory Of God Summary
LaKeisha Y. Jones Liberty University Business for the Glory of God Book Review
Grudem explains that God proved personal ownership by demanding that thou shall not steal (Ex.
20:15). By owning our possessions, we imitate God s sovereignty by exercising sovereignty over a
small portion of the world. By taking care of our personal belongings or improving upon them
(cleaning the pool, or adding a deck to a home) we imitate God who owns a cattle on a thousand hills
(Ps. 50:10).
When reading Business for the Glory of God definitely has a lot to offer; especially only being a book
less than a 100 pages. Dr. Grudem engages the reader and teaches that the Bible teaches concerning
moral of goodness of businesses. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I honestly can say that this book is a wonderful tool for anyone who wants to learn more on how to
serve God by being a professional businessman or businesswoman. The layout of Mr. Grudem s
thoughts is pointing out specific Scriptures that speak to the issues he addresses in his book. It may
seem like a surprise to most believe that some inequality of possessions can be good and very pleasing
to God. But we first must remember that there is no sin or evil in heaven, the Bible preaches that there
are certain rewards in heaven and various kinds of stewardship that God entrusts to different
individuals. We should think of all inequalities of possession as wrong and evil. In the current days
that we live in there are inequalities of gifts and abilities, and there are also evil, oppressive systems in
the world, and because of these things many of God s most righteous people will not be wealthy in
current life. For the individuals that have large resources, they also should trust in God and not his
riches.
The brief chapters are manageable for individuals who live in our fast paced society. The chapters are
full of solid material that can provoke thought and reflection. The author goes over the Ownership
aspect and describes that a business owner is a reflection of how God takes care of the universe. As a
business owner you would think that it actually belongs to you, but in reality we untimely ours. As
individuals you should share the things that you own and to learn to not be

Katherine Mansfield And Ernest Hemmingway Are Both Published
Katherine Mansfield and Ernest Hemmingway are both published writers. One was born in New
Zealand and the other in the United States during the late 19th century. This paper will compare and
contrast the setting, plot, imagery, climax, and theme between Mansfield s Miss Brill and
Hemmingway s Cat in the Rain.
The setting in Miss Brill takes place in a public garden in France. The story states the band plays in
the Jardins Publiques (Public Gardens) in France (15). Miss Brill, the protagonist, is proceeding on a
Sunday afternoon to the gardens where she will listen to a band. Mansfield tells us there were a
number of other people out that afternoon, more than any other Sunday. The time of year appears to be
autumn. Mansfield ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is a lady vicariously living through those around her. She makes observations of the patient
Englishman and his nagging wife (15). Furthermore, she observes two young girls laughing and
meeting up with two soldiers (15). Nearby resides a stiff man with a woman. The man indifference to
the woman makes Miss Brill angry. She whispered over and over The Brute! The Brute! (16). She was
also unimpressed by a beautiful woman that passed by. She dropped some violets, which a young boy
picked up and gave back to her. However Miss Brill see s the woman throw the flowers away. She
exclaims, Dear me! (16). Miss Brill views the events as a play as if she is an actress. Each individual
have their parts. Even the fur she wears around her head has a part in the play. Mansfield advises, It
was exactly like a play. Who could believe the sky at the back wasn t painted? (17).
In contrast, the characters in the plot of Cat in the Rain are limited to the American couple, a cat, the
padrone, and a maid. The American wife sees a cat from her window. Hemingway states, A cat was
crouched under one of the dripping green tables (62). She desires to retrieve the cat against the
indifference of her husband. The American wife states, I m going down and get that kitty (62). George,
her husband, half heartedly offers to retrieve it for her. He was indifferent to the episode. Hemingway

These systems are the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem, and chronosystem. Each system is aligned with specific interaction levels. Thus punishing the child with the same misconduct the child has committed results in mocking of the punishment behavior. Using authoritarian style requires the ability to be dominantly harsh while giving punishment without an explanation. There are abundant differences in these two styles, but the most significant discrepancy is in the end product: the children. An authoritative parent will know he has done his job well in the raising of those children, because the relationships that were built will incessantly last. The parents who choose a benign approach will obtain the rewards of having children that will be the ones who have a good work ethic and who succeed in school because they wish to please their parents. Commonly called water bears and sometimes moss piglets, tardigrades are able to endure many environmental stresses, such as dehydration and extreme temperature changes (Herkewitz). They can even survive in space (Herkewitz)! This essay will prove that the tardigrade is the most resilient animal on earth and give a glimpse into the everyday life of a tardigrade. Tardigrades have been known to survive in environments that would kill nearly any other organism. One such environment is outer space. Space combines many elements that would individually terminate the life of almost anything; however, an experiment conducted by a team of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When a tardigrade becomes a tun, it loses 97 99% of its body s water, and its metabolism slows to 0.01% of its ordinary speed (Herkewitz). Some of its cell contents are replaced with trehalose molecules, a type of sugar (Herkewitz). They also coat themselves with large amounts of glassy molecules produced by proteins unique to tardigrades (Crew). An abnormal amount of antioxidants are produced to defend against reactive oxygen species, dangerous molecules that irradiate particles containing oxygen (Herkewitz). There are four key types of cryptobiosis that tardigrades undergo: anoxybiosis, cryobiosis, anhydrobiosis, and osmobiosis ( Tardigrades! ). The most common form is anhydrobiosis, the type of cryptobiosis tardigrades go through when their body does not have enough water to function as it usually does ( Tardigrades! ). This allows tardigrades to survive long droughts. Of course, droughts are not the only problem water bears face. Tardigrades have been subjected to many tests by scientists, and they took different forms depending on the test. Tardigrades will enter a stage called cryobiosis that lets them survive extreme temperatures ( Tardigrades! ). When there is a lack of oxygen that threatens a tardigrade, it will go into anoxybiosis ( Tardigrades! ). Thanks to this, tardigrades do not need oxygen to survive in outer space. The final cryptobiotic form tardigrades can enter is called osmobiosis ( Tardigrades! ). Osmobiosis is the least studied of all cryptobiotic forms and occurs when there is an increase in the concentration of a solute in the water a tardigrade lives in ( Tardigrades! ). The fundamental flaw in this instance was that Ferrari had ignored the change in trends in the immediate environment and stuck to what they felt worked. The strategy was to exploits their strengths but neglected the opportunities that presented themselves. They had failed to respond to an immediate threat, thus exposing their weaknesses and allowing themselves to retrogress to the extent that Ferrari was no longer considered a threat. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gospel music was developed and inspired by the blues and jazz that was storming the country. Many traveling, singing preachers began to accompany themselves with piano and guitar. An example of this can be found with a gentleman who many refer to as the father of Gospel Music, Thomas A Dorsey. The son of a minister, Thomas Dorsey was a consummate musician and as a young man, he accompanied some of the most famous blues singers of all time including Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey. He also arranged and composed blues tunes. However, his penchant for bouncy tunes and bawdy lyrics did not keep him from attending the annual meeting of the National Baptist Convention. It was at these conventions that Dorsey first heard compositions of Charles A Tindley. Tindley inspired him. Musical historian Arna Bontemps argues that it was at this point in Dorsey s life when he began to write religious music. He abandoned his brash lyrics but not the jazz rhythms and blues flavor. Naturally, older conservatives considered this blending of sacred music, such as spirituals and hymns with secular music, such as blues and jazz, to be devil s music. The theme of consequences of war is present in both the book Johnny Got His Gun and the movie Shenandoah through the representation of loss, physical, mental and psychological turmoil, and the reality that war can never be undone. The novel Johnny Got His Gun is based on the story about a young soldier named Joe Bonham who experienced a traumatic event when he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As said earlier in the essay this theme is showcased by the thought of loss, however loss is not the only way that the consequences of war is shown. In both these sources, the theme is shown through physical, emotional and psychological war that takes places both during the war and after the war. In Johnny Got His Gun, Trumbo shows readers countless times throughout the book the physical, emotional and psychological impact that war left on joe. One specific example of Joe experiencing these things is when during the book Joe describes how he is feeling due to the physical, emotional and psychological impact that war left on him. In the book Trumbo says It was like a full grown man suddenly being stuffed back into his mother s body. He is lying in stillness. He is completely helpless. Somewhere sticking in his stomach is a tube they fed him through. That is exactly like the womb except a baby in its mother s body could look forward to the time when it would live. (Trumbo 80). This quote explains where Joe is both physically and emotionally due to the war. Throughout the book Joe explains how he emotionally felt like he is a baby trapped in the womb, and how he could not perform the most basic human functions. Through Joe s thoughts and feeling the theme of the consequences of war emotionally are clearly presented taken from the book. Just like in the book, the movie Shenandoah shows the physical, emotional and psychological impact that war leaves just like in the book. This specific theme is shown right after the two characters Jenny and James got married. During their wedding James is unexpectedly taken and thrown into war and forced to leave his lovely wife and enter war and all that war bring. This specific part in the movie relates directly to the theme of consequences of war by detailing how specifically Jenny had to deal with the emotional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Line 1 The Duke seems to be a man who expects his wife to be the conventional female, and abide by the strict gender roles that existed at this period in history. He repeatedly downgrades his wife, and makes out that she doesn t appreciate the high social rank which she has married into. He even goes as far as indicating that his wife has been unfaithful all an attempt to really try and justify his reasons as to why he gave commands . [She] had a heart how shall we say? too soon made glad. Line 23 In this quote, Browning tells us that his last duchess was easily pleased by compliments that she received from other people. We sense that she also voices her gratitude for these compliments, and in this way, the Duke has become disillusioned and because of this, he downgrades his wife for basically being a nice person. In another pretty feeble attempt to justify his actions, he tries to make his wife out as a disrespectful person. He tells how every single gift that she received from various people would draw from her alike the approving speech . From here, the Duke

Shakespeare took great liberties with the material in Raphael Holinshed s series called, Holinshed s Chronicles, altering it to suit his dramatic purposes (McGraw, 306). Most of the information in the play, The Tragedy of Macbeth is based off of Holinshed s books, therefore, Macbeth is portrayed extremely different in the play than he actually was in reality. Macbeth was born in c. 1005 at Alba, Scotland. His parent s names are Findlaech mac Ruaidri and Doada. Macbeth s father was Mormaer of Moray until he was killed by his cousin s, Malcolm and Gillecomgain, which was possibly brought on by Findlaech being too close to Malcolm II. • 43. Urban Land Use And Transportation Planning Question 1. This approach has several advantages. First, it provides much more spatially detailed information than traditional data at the aggregate level of planning districts. Hence, using this disaggregate information, we can suggest policy implications to establish specific land use and transportation planning. UrbanSim, one of the advanced microsimulation model developed by University of Washington, uses gridcells of 150*150 meter, which presents spatially detailed structure and enables researchers to evaluate current urban land use patterns as well as predict future urban land use change at the micro level. However, a building scale analysis provides much more benefits because it is a more realistic model and can be easily combined with current urban big data. For example, if this agent based model is combined with complex human behaviors data, it can provide much more specific information for predicting events of an emergency such as a building fire and disasters from earthquake or tsunami. Also, if this model is combined with information on spatial human activities from mobile phone, it can provide great benefits for managing spatial and temporal planning for the urban places. More specifically, we can identify hot spots during daytime and nighttime, which can help to predict travel demands as well land use demand. Second, with the building scale dataset, we can deal with a variety of urban problems and issues. For example, energy is one of the big issues in our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is no doubt that a gain of one thousand ducats is more significant to the pauper than to a rich man though both gain the same amount. He suggested there was a function U(w) (called a utility function) which describes the amount of value or utility that the individual gains by having an amount of wealth w. Rational individuals prefer more money to less money, so U(w) is increasing, but the incremental value of more wealth decreases as one becomes wealthier (decreasing marginal utility or value of wealth) so U(w) is concave.
