The Iowa State Teaching Standards
The Iowa State teaching standards helped me throughout student teaching, and prepared me to be an
effective classroom teacher. Through lesson planning, delivery, and reflection I was able to see how
the standards were interdependent with one another. A great lesson cannot be created only using one
standard, several standards should be used in every lesson I create as a teacher. Below I will explain
how the standards better prepared me for the classroom while interrelating them throughout student
teaching. During student teaching both of my placements were in math classrooms. With math being
my endorsement, having a strong understanding of the content and knowing different methods
(standards I XII) lead to success with my students As a future teacher, I believe these two standards
are the most important. I need to create learning experiences that are meaningful and age appropriate
for my students. I created a lesson for my 8th grade students that showed the importance of content
and methods of teaching. In this lesson, students had to solve questions involving the 8th grade math
standards, but the questions were made in puzzle pieces. Students had to match the question and
answers, making a shape once the problems were completed. This is called a tangram, which is a
concept students had learned in an earlier grade. This lesson used a variety of strategies and met the
needs of my diverse learners (standards III V). The puzzle pieces had students use creative thinking

Abstract: As an outstanding representative of the second wave feminism, The Madwoman in the Attic
is still useful in handling the relationship between women and language, especially when it is in
comparison with other strands of theory. Culturally, women writers revision of the existing male
discourse that the book suggests bears remarkable resemblance with de Certeau s ... Show more

Gilbert and Gubar s suggestion is no less than building a female language by tactically maneuvering
the existing conventions of patriarchal language through women writers own practices and the
practices of their foremothers. Under the disguise of patriarchal discourse, women writers are telling
stories of their own one may deem it as women s duplicity. Two of the typical maneuverings are
palimpsest and parody. As Gilbert and Gubar put it: women from Jane Austen and Mary Shelley to
Emily Brontë and Emily Dickinson produced literary works that are in some sense palimpsestic,
works those surface designs conceal or obscure deeper, less accessible (and less socially acceptable)
levels of meaning. (Gilbert Gubar, 73) Taking the double bind of stereotypical female figures for
example, the split between the innocent, quiet, selfless, good women ( mother goddess, merciful
dispensers of salvation, female symbols of justice ) and the vicious, evil women ( witches, evil eye,
menstrual pollution, castrating mothers ) is a male construction that women writer can never escape.
Rather than demolishing the binary, women writers redefine themselves by travelling between the two
extremes through alternately defining themselves as angel women or as monster women (Gilbert
Gubar, 44) and through creating dark doubles for themselves and their heroines (Gilbert Gubar, 79). In
so doing, they simultaneously

Claude Monet Analysis
Claude Monet s piece titled Sunrise (Marine) illustrates the daylight in the industrial port of Le Havre
of the north coast, France. This piece was made in March or April of 1873. The piece s present
location is the J. Paul Getty Museum, west pavilion, gallery w204. The medium is oil on canvas and is
next to another piece made by Monet called The Portal of Rouen Cathedral in morning light. Claude
Monet was part of the impressionist movement that changes French paintings of the nineteenth
century. For Sunrise (1872), people criticized the paint due to the appearance of an unfinished
painting, however other artist saw it as an honor and eventually called themselves impressionist . The
painting brings out a beautiful image due to the colors, texture, and technique that plays an important
role in society and culture. When entering the room, people crowded around Monet s pieces, which
felt like an honor to see the type and techniques his work has. The colors describe the feeling of an
early morning. The painting has a muted palette of blues, greens, and grays. The sunrise is orange and
yellow which are surrounded by the clouds and smoke from steamboats. Three boats are shapes and
visible while the rest fade into the distance. This painting is an example of plein air or outdoor
painting. I also notice that Monet layered the colors so that when I viewed the painting from a far
distance I knew what the painting was about however when I looked at it up close I saw brush strokes

Abstract
Writing has always been regarded as playing a prominent role in learning a second language. The
purpose of this research was to investigate the difficulties and challenges facing students in writing
and spelling, the factors causing these difficulties and how to overcome these challenges.
A total of 30 female students from three different female secondary schools in the Al Kharj city
participated in the study, and 6 teachers teaching the English language for secondary levels with
different teaching experiences. Questionnaires were used to gather information from the participants.
The overall results demonstrated the students negative views towards writing. The findings revealed
that students have problems in writing, especially in language use (grammar). The major findings
demonstrated students awareness of the importance of writing and their needs to develop the skill of
writing. The study suggests some practical methods in order to cope with writing difficulties.

Hotspur In King Henry IV
Violent change that is political in nature also arises through the character of Hotspur in the play, King
Henry IV, Part One. Like Evie and V s revolt, Hotspur, through the rebel camp, similarly enacts a
revolt against the established governmental power by specifically, trying to kill King Henry IV. As
with the other examples, Hotspur does this for personal reasons related to past events. For instance,
Hotspur believes that King Henry IV by not providing ransom for his brother in law, Mortimer is
consequently, not properly repaying his family for their previous assistance to King Henry IV s
ascension to the throne. Thus, just as in the Word for World is Forest, the conflict that Hotspur creates
in turn, causes counter violence. Notably, it

Mary Magdalene Research Paper
Introduction
Mary Magdalene is an inimitable protagonist and one of the most mysterious, important, controversial
and beloved women in the whole entire Old and New Testament of the Bible. Her life story is unique
as well as analogous to many other women in the Bible including, Eve, Naomi, Ruth of the Old
Testament and the Mother of Jesus, who s personas are whispered faintly and spoken sparingly about
by the Gospels of New Testament.
One reason for this disparity is because woman played a very subservient role in the social, political
and historical aspects and events in Biblical times. The women of the New Testament have not
advanced much above the customs set for previous generations of women in the Old Testaments male
dominated society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A minority view is that Magdalene ( Tower ) is honorific, referring to her status as a beacon of faith
(St. Jerome, Letter to Principia 127, 255). (taylor,24)
She is a saint by the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran churches with a feast day of
July 22. Other Protestant churches honor her as a heroine of the faith. The Eastern Orthodox churches
also commemorate her on the Sunday of the Myrrh bearers, the Orthodox equivalent of one of the
Western Three Mary s traditions. During the Middle Ages, Mary Magdalene was regarded in Western
Christianity as a repentant prostitute or promiscuous woman, claims not found in any of the four

Abstract
Aerodynamics is known as the study of the different forces acting on an object and the resulting
motion of objects as they fly through the air. Today we know that aerodynamics plays a major role in
many sports, such as tennis, soccer, hunting, and motor sports, we will investigate the effects of
aerodynamics on baseball.
The three main forces that act on a baseball in flight are the weight, drag, and lift. In an effort to
understand how a baseball changes direction we will discuss an additional force called the lift
coefficient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like the drag, the amount of lift depends on several factors related to the barometric conditions of the
air and the shape of the object. Additionally the velocity of the object and its relationship with the air
plays a role as well. For a spinning ball, the speed of rotation affects the magnitude of the
aerodynamic force and the direction of the force is perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
The orientation of the axis of rotation or spin axis can be varied by the pitcher when the ball is thrown.
If the axis is vertical, the lift force is horizontal and the ball can be made to curve to one side. If the
axis is horizontal, the lift force is vertical and the ball can be made to dive or rise depending on the
direction of rotation.
A baseball in flight is neither smooth nor symmetric because of the stitches. So the center of pressure
for a baseball moves slightly about the center of the ball with time, depending on the orientation of the
stitches. The lift coefficient Cl for the baseball was finely determined by high speed photography of
the flight of a pitched ball in many laboratories.
The motion of the ball through the air depends on the relative strength and direction of the forces. We
will look at the pitching of a curve ball. The curve ball problem involves all three forces with an
additional force called the Magnus force. This force is a lift force generated from the spinning of the
baseball produces the side force that causes the ball to

Han-Chinese Violence
The violence that is occurring in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region amongst the Uyghurs and the
Han Chinese, stems from the conflict and debate between the Uyghurs and the People Republic of
China (PRC) in 1975. According to Gardner Bovington, there is a diverging perspective on the history
of Xinjiang; to the Chinese historical perspective, in 1795, once the Qing general conquered the vast
territory [...it became] an integral piece of Chinese national territory (Bovington 2). While to the
Uyghurs, such concurring of land did not occur, allowing the Uyghurs to believe that they are still a

Although both of these perceptions, to the individuals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, such rumors were not verified nor confirmed. Due to the strong authoritarian regime China
centers itself upon, media outlets are potentially inaccurate sources of information. The CCP controls
the outflow of information released by the media, due to such control over media outlets, China is able
to manipulate any situation in order to gain support and sympathy. In reference to the Global Conflict
Tracker, by China labeling the Uyghurs as a radicalized population it leads to the connotation that the
Uyghurs are associated with either the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) or the Turkestan
Islamic Party (TIP) posing a direct terrorist risk to China (Darker blue). By China attempting to gain
international support via identifying terrorist organizations within the PRC it allows China to address
that this problem is not just a problem for China but also other countries who s enemies are terrorist
organizations example, the United States and its fight against ISIS. Although this may seem as a
benefit for China and its aims to integrate Xinjiang, for the Uyghurs it labels them as a potential
terrorist organization; hence, limiting their ability to tell their side of the narrative and gain
international sympathy limiting their ability to gain international support and address how the CCP is
marginalizing the Uyghurs. Thus, this inability

Privacy Issues, Child Safety And Hate Speeches
Introduction
There are many changes has been made during the service time of Facebook, it impacts a lot of users.
Criticisms made wide range of view on its privacy issues, child safety and hate speeches. In this essay,
we are going to talk about the privacy issues that people concern about on Facebook and how it
impact people after certain changes have been made by Facebook.
What is Facebook?
Facebook is an online social networking service. Users have to register to use the website, after that
Facebook provides a bunch of features such as setting up their own personal profile, adding other
users as friends, exchanging messages, and receiving notifications automatically once their friends
update their personal profile.
In additional, users also can participate different user groups with common interests, usually they are
organized by user s workplace, schools, or other individuals. What s more, users can also put their
friends into different categories, such as Close Friends , Family Member , etc.
Privacy on Facebook
Despite Facebook keep saying they always protect users privacy. However, few functions they have
changed during the past few years make people hard to believe Facebook can actually capable of
protect their privacy. It become quite obvious that compare to its own business profit, privacy is not
such a big deal for Facebook to make some change which brings more fame and benefit to itself.

Stereotypes Stereotypes are generalizations and overgeneralizations about the member of a group;
sometimes being positive, more often negative, having a resistance to change (Ziebarth, 2009). The
Disney organization does not create the stereotypes, they simply reflect them (What about Women in
Disney Movies?, 2008). Disney movies, however, are filled with stereotypes, ranging from social
stereotypes to racial stereotypes. Although Disney movies are filled with an abundant amount of
different stereotypes, the most common stereotypes seen in Disney movies are gender stereotypes.
Gender stereotypes are when a group is generalized based on gender (female or male). In Disney
movies the most common area to see gender stereotyping is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Racial profiling is common within the Disney films. Where it is most commonly seen is within movies
where two races are mixing, such as in the movie Pocahontas. Disney is not necessarily discriminating
against a race through film, but Disney is making a point of portraying race and culture through film
incorrectly based on stereotypes. Aladdin is an original Disney movie which brought racial profiling
into question. Simply starting with the names of the characters brings question about race into view.
The two most questioned names were Aladdin and Jafaar, names which were supposed to symbolize
the poor Middle Eastern culture, are names that originally originate from Russia. Also, since this
movie was supposed to be in a Middle Eastern city, the characters all had a dark complexion. The dark
complexion was correct on Disney s part; however, what was incorrect was that all the facial features
were European. By having the incorrect facial features with the dark skin tone it teaches children that
they can sort people by race solely on a person s skin color. Aladdin was portrayed as simply a white
man was a dark tan (Disney s Protrayal of Culture and Race in Film, 2009). Another Disney film
which had racial profiling in it is The Lion King. In The Lion King, white actors played the voices
along with African American actors. The fact that Disney had an interracial cast was good, but the
white voices played the good guys and the African American voices were

INTRODUCTION
Telecommuting first increased notoriety around the late 20th century with the introduction of home
computers and sophisticated telecommunications technologies. Detailed research on the arrays and
practices of telecommuting first showed evidence around the 1970 s when Jack Nilles came up with
the terms telecommuting and teleworking and engaged the first telework demo experiment with partial
backing from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Around the 1980 s carried the beginning of
experimental telework programs in the United States and near the 1990 s a lot of states, local
government agencies, and private sector businesses had applied telework programs. Around 1990s the
federal government presented a national telecommuting initiative with the goal of swelling both the
number of federal teleworkers as well as the number of teleworkers in other sectors.
For the federal and state governments, the primary drivers of the telework movement were
environmental considerations, minimizing traffic congestion, and compliance with the Clean Air Act
of 1990.

Western Montana Fires
Final Report: The Fires of 1910: The Big Burn
In the summer of 1910 Northern Idaho and Western Montana were hit by what seemed like a never
ending series of destructive forest fires. With the spring bringing hardly any rainfall and drying winds
from the Columbia plains, creeks began to disappear and the montane forests became dry. Intense heat
along with high winds and dry vegetation create the perfect environment for forest fires. In June and
July several dry electric storms hit the mountains and fires began to develop in isolated corners of the
forest. The U.S. Forest Service which had just been developed in 1905 consisted of forest rangers on
horseback climbing the mountains and protecting the forest from fires (Bergoffen, 1976). As the ...

with the state and private associations to fight fires by starting a fire protection campaign that would
eventually lead to the creation of Smokey Bear. He created the national forest policy for the United
States and in 1911 The Weeks Act was created which allowed the federal government to purchase
private lands and forests (Graves, 1919). In 1915 the Forest Service Research Branch was created in
order to find the best ways to manage national forests and to study the different trees and plants so that
reseeding and replanting of the forest could be done. Another important figure was Ranger Ed Pulaski
who is considered to be one of the heroes of the 1910 fires. Pulaski invented one of the most famous
firefighting tools that are still used today known as the Pulaski . The Pulaski is a tool that is both an

and to emerge as what most conservationists consider a charred but positive landmark along the road
to forest protection (Peterson, 1995). The fires

Along these lines, The Beast in the Jungle seems to possess a critical position all the while as a story

Summary Of The LA Riots
As a result of a detestable court decision and the visceral televised imagery of the beaten Rodney
King, police brutality became recognized as a ceaseless injustice oppressing black communities. These
events managed to spur a conversation most relevant today but one that many continue to disregard.
The LA Riots of 1992 still stands as one of if not the most critical event that tapped into the way we
view systematic racism by sparking deep rooted dialogue about the intermingling of race, economics
and injustice in America for African Americans. When looking back at the riots 25 years later, society
has often received the needless white perspective and the necessary African American voice.
However, many forget how many Korean Americans were affected by these events. At the time, black
and Korean communities were at odds with one another without understanding each other s shared
struggles as a result of the gradual segregation between wealthy white communities and impoverished
minority enclaves. With the winner of the 2017 Sundance audience NEXT Award Gook, director,
writer and actor Justin Chon remembers the 1992 LA Riots with the rare Korean American
perspective, one that reveals itself as a poignant picture of race and friendship.

The Importance Of A Simple War Game On A Grid
Description: In this project, I paired up with Ryan Thomson to design a game with about 15 minute
time limit. The prompt was to make a simple war game on a grid. At the beginning, we just came up
with some simple rule to begin the game because we knew that we will improve the rule after we
played the game. One of the most important that I learned during I was working on this project is that
playable games take time and testing. It is okay to start with a simple game idea, and we will improve
on it later. Out first draft games were expected to suck, which is going to be a lot of error and unclear
rule, and it also won t be able to play through the end. It helps that we did not put too much pressure
on ourselves. The war game is a common structure with grid movement Mechanism on the board
games. It has grid on board, and all the objects can move along with the line in many directions.
Materials Required:

The Mystery Of Easter Island
In Easter Island...the shadows of the departed builders still possess the land...the whole air vibrates
with a vast purpose and energy which has been and is no more. What was it? Why was it? said

wonders of Easter Island for centuries. The remains of the island are huge statues called moai, which
seemed to be an impossible feat for people of the time. Archaeologists everywhere are gathering
together facts, theories, and unanswered questions in an attempt to solve the mystery of Easter Island.
1. Facts The people who once lived on Easter Island called themselves the Rapa Nui. The Rapa Nui

Theme Of The American Dream In Arthur Miller s Death Of A...
To me, success means to have a goal, plan the steps to achieve the goal, implement the plan, and
finally achieve the goal (TalkenEnglish). Many people tend to try to follow this procedure when
reaching for success, regardless of the type of success. At times they lose themselves and become
confused when their process does not go as planned. Like Willy, a character in the play, Death of a
Salesman by Arthur Miller; he did not have a set plan that would ensure him success upon completion.
As Willy gets older, he fights with himself and his family practically going insane to try to grasp this
concept he has about success. In the play, Arthur Miller highlights how the American Dream can
quickly turn into a nightmare and how the approach to success for one person may not work for
someone else. Miller also implements the theme Quest for Identity as Willy wishes to be
acknowledged as a rich and successful businessman who earned his wealth from working hard. Willy
s immediate family tries to remain as optimistic as possible while facing the hardship of Willy
mentally battling himself. In the play, Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, Willy s constant
obsession with the American Dream causes him to lose his identity.
To begin, Willy is motivated by his hunger to be successful and his wish to leave fortune to his family
once he dies. Like Willy, his son, Biff also struggles with his identity. The difference between the two

Ernest Estlin Cummings was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He grew up within walking distance
of Harvard which in turn was where he attended college. His mother encouraged him from an early
age to write verse and keep a journal. From the time he was 8 to the time he was 22 he wrote a poem
every day. Cummings wrote approximately 2,900 poems, two novels and four plays, and painted
portraits during his lifetime. After being imprisoned in an internment camp in France on suspicion of
treason, Cummings published his first book, The Enormous Room, in 1922 about his accounts there.

E. Cummings pioneered a new writing style in the world of poetry by breaking the established rules of
20th century poetry. Cummings became popular due to his usual, distinct style of writing through the
use of broken syntax, self created compound words, decapitalization, and unusual forms of
punctuation. Cummings was such a talented poet due to the fact that he started writing poetry when he
was 8 years old. Attending Harvard helped him to be influenced by previous writers to create his own
style of writing. Through the constant persistence from his mother and father to become an excellent
writer he succeeded and became one of the most widely read poets in the United States. Through his
poetry he teaches a lesson of not being afraid to break previous rules to gain new ground. Sometimes
breaking the rules and experimenting with new things will benefit in the long run. Cummings was not
only an exceptional poet but also a writer and a

Activity Based Costing ( Abc ) Assigns Processing Overhead...
Introduction
Activity based costing (ABC) assigns processing overhead costs to products in a far more rational
manner than the traditional methodology of simply allocating costs based on machine time. Activity
based charging first assigns costs to the actions that will be the source of the overhead. After that it
assigns the cost on those activities and then the merchandise that demand the actions.
The Activity Based mostly Costing, known as ABC in Accounting also, is a new way towards a far
more thorough and good allocation of costs. It alters the original way of allocating costs that was
based through enough time the machines are in work or within an operation. The lean Structured

biggest organizations. These give a chance to survey the advances that have happened in the ABC
implementation status of organizations over a late 5 year period. For the ABC clients, some relative
data is given on the way of the ABC frameworks being used, their planners, the utilization to which
they have been put and the levels of achievement and significance that members credit to them. For
the non clients, the purposes behind their absence of commitment to ABC are investigated.
Organizations have diminished their reliance on conventional accounting frameworks by creating
activity based cost administration frameworks. At first, administrators saw the ABC approach as a
more precise method for computing item costs. However, ABC has risen as a massively helpful
manual for administration activity that can decipher specifically into higher benefits. In addition, the
ABC methodology is extensively relevant over the range of organization capacities and not simply in
the plant.
Steps of ABC Accounting
There are eight basic steps of the ABC method.
1. outline the scope
2. recognize activities
3. construct the process
4. acquire data
5. recognize which kind of ABC to work with
6. construct the model
7. evaluate the model
8. Take action

A Note On The Bailout Crisis
The concept of a bailout is a loaded topic by itself, and its definition certainly does not give it any
help. The words failing, save, and collapse are usually not associated with a light hearted idea. When a
company or a country s economy is on the verge of collapse, chaos is not far behind. Job loss, bank s
individual trust, the stock market, and even each household s net. worth is at stake, all of which leads
to economic decline. During this time of panic, banks (commercial or central depending on the scale)
must make a decision on whether or not they should save/bailout the company or economy. In many
instances, especially when a country s economy is about to collapse, other central banks are usually
not seen to shy away ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later that month, the U. S. House of Representatives passed legislation establishing the Troubled
Asset Relief Program, or TARP. Congress then passed, and President Bush signed, the Emergency
Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, which established the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief
Program (Investopedia). In November 2008, the Federal Reserve instituted quantitative easing
programs following the 2007 2008 financial crisis; or QE as it has become known. Quantitative easing
is the act in which central banks buy government bonds in order to promote economic growth. In
November 2010, the Federal Reserve announced a second round of quantitative easing, referring to it
as QE2. A third round again was later announced on September 13, 2013; which is now being referred
to not as QE3; but QE Infinity. Quantitative easing can only be carried out if the central bank controls
the currency used in the country. Japan, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and the Eurozone quickly
followed, since enacting quantitative easing programs of their own (Randow). A central bank, reserve
bank or monetary authority are all institutions that manages a state s currency, money supply and
interest rates. A central bank also has the authority to print the national currency. Central banks within
countries in the Eurozone cannot unilaterally expand their money supply and therefore cannot directly
employ quantitative easing. These countries must instead, rely

Mccutcheon V. Federal Election Commission Essay
McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission was a 5 4 decision divided along liberal and
conservative lines. Shane McCutcheon is a businessman from Alabama who donated thousands of
dollars to various Republican committees and candidates. If he donated any more, he would violate
the limit to aggregate contributions established in the Federal Election Campaign Act and the
Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act. The aggregate limit capped the amount of money an individual
could donate to candidates and committees per two year election cycle at 123,000. McCutcheon and
the Republican National Committee sued the Federal Election Commission, which enforced campaign
finance regulations, arguing that the aggregate contribution limit violated the First Amendment ...

He argued that the precedent of the 1976 Buckley v. Valeo court case, which upheld aggregate limits,
did not apply in this situation because the court at the time did not consider McCutcheon s legal
argument and the situation in which aggregate limits functioned back then is 1976. Then, he
established that because an aggregate limit restricted how many candidates and committees an
individual to support, it limited free speech and thus was only justified if it was necessary to prevent
political corruption. He confined political corruption to bribery, arguing that if corruption was
understood as money resulting in more influence to or ingratiation from an officeholder, then the
government would have a say in who could govern, citing the precedent of Arizona Free Enterprise
Club s Freedom Club PAC v. Bennet. He also added that ingratiation and influence create more
responsive candidates and are therefore good for democracy. Roberts argued that aggregate limits
were not necessary to preventing bribery because any scenario where circumvention could happen
would be either illegal under earmarking rules or unlikely because many state parites would have to
participate in the scheme. There were also alternatives to preventing circumvention, including
restrictions on transfers among party committees and candidates, the tightening of earmarking rules,
and the implementation of broad disclosure

Restless Giant Chapter Summary
Kiana Wade Book Review 6 Nov 2105 Restless Giant, a book written by James T. Patterson, provides
us with a concise and historically correct assessment of the time period of the twenty seven years
between the resignation of Richard Nixon and the election of George W. Bush. Patterson makes it a
point to provide for us the relational ties between the social, economical, cultural, political aspects of
life in America. Patterson begins his narrative by placing us in the troubled 70s. He describes the
1970s as grim, tasteless years that are best put out of mind. (p. 13) The mood of the 1970s was
described as gloomy, gaudy and depressing. The issue of race remained the nation s number one
problem. During this time there were only two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
18) Along with the many racial problems of this time period, there were educational issues, drug abuse
problems and rising crime rate. Patterson also talks about the moral decline and the younger
generation. He notes that, a number of public school seemed out of control, (p. 45) doing things such
as swearing in the classrooms and on the streets, spray painting buildings and using drugs and alcohol.
Then there was the topic of sex. It seemed to be advancing in the culture almost as rapidly as violence,
says Patterson. Their was a decline in sexual morality. The sexual themes on TV seemed to be
advancing. Patterson gives us some examples: Mary Tyler Moore Show and Charlie s Angels.
Television shows likes these reflected a sexualizing of the culture. (p.46) Patterson later talks about
the rapid rise in divorce rates and the increase of number of births happening outside of marriage.
During this time agitation for women s rights were at an all time high. Many women began to work
and speak out against sexual discrimination. All these controversies over sex and family life would
have been cause enough for concern even in sunny economic times. (p. 58) Patterson goes on to
discuss the economic problems of this period. The stagflation persisted into the 1980s. This was a
result of the structural changes in the economy. It went from a manufacturing base to a post industrial
society that depended on services. Greater

Race And Religion In The Last Of The Mohicans
Race and Religion in The Last of the Mohicans The Llast of the Mohicans contains many relevant
issues of the time. The last of the Mohicans is set in North America around the Canadian and
American Border and occurs during the around the third year of the French and Indian War. This novel
of Coopers illustrates the common ideas about race and gender that circulated as part of the American
Identity of the time period. Cooper illustrates the unfavorable attitudes of whites toward the American
Indians. The French and Indian War divided the American Indian tribes. Some tribes fought for the
English, while other tribes sided with the French. Even though the American Indians fought along side
the English and French soldiers, they were considered less than a desirable people. They are

The war is now in its third year and the fight to gain control of the territory around Canada and New
York becomes doubtful. Race plays a major role in Cora and Alice s impressions of Magua . Cooper
voices this attitude when he wrote, Perhaps no district throughout the wide extent of the intermediate
frontier can furnish a livelier picture of the cruelty and fierceness of the savage warfare...between the
waters of the Hudson and the adjacent lakes ( ). A fear was beginning to emerge that the possession of
the English crown in America might lessen and that France could become the victor here. The English
colonists were beginning to loose their strong confidence in their military leaders. Politics appeared to
play a part in how England recorded the heroic feats of its army. For example, a Virginia boy, George
Washington, played an important role in a decisive battle around the Hudson area and saved the
remnants of the British army. However, Washington was not recognized by the British who evidently

The Clash Of Civilizations By Samuel Huntington Essay
Samuel Huntington s controversial article The Clash of Civilizations? was first published in Foreign
Affairs in 1993 and was subsequently turned into a book in 1996 titled The Clash of Civilizations and
the Remaking of World Order. As this paper will show Huntington s work can be seen as a product of
the post Cold War context it was written in. Huntington s article takes a new perspective on the new
world order and outlines a different way a thinking about how future world conflicts will unfold. Since
the initial journal article was published in 1993 there has been a great deal of response from academics
and also from Huntington himself. A majority of the responses come in the form of critiques, with the
authors offering their own insight into how the post Cold War World will operate. Although the
validity of Huntington s arguments have been questioned, it did create a great deal of controversy in
the academic world. As Huntington explained in the preface of his 1996 book, the original article
published in Foreign Affairs created more discussion in three years than any other article published in
the journal since the 1940s.
Huntington s initial article argued that in the post Cold War era the fundamental source of conflict
would not be ideological or economic, but cultural. He continues by arguing that nation states will
continue to be the most powerful actors in global affairs, but the conflicts of global politics that are to
occur in the future will happen between

Reformation And The Counter-Reformation
The Renaissance is one of the Catholic churches highest peak during the ages. Yet, much speculation
and riots occur due to the intense demand for reformation and Martin Luther s attempt to bring into
realization the church s dark secrets. In the mist of division the Catholic Church in order to counter act
the accusations that were made against them invested their time in the Counter Reformation. The
Counter Reformation created a restoring of the church. The Council of Trent was created in order to
help answer the questions posed against the church and bring back the faith and trust of the people
back to the Catholic Church. This Counter Reformation is highly significant to the Baroque Era in

Gian Lorenzo Bernini is identified as the prominent architect during the Baroque era. Bernini s breath
taking monuments is the main reason Rome and the Vatican still flourished during the counter
reformation. Bernini is the creator of the famous colonnades and piazza at Saint Peter s. Bernini s
main patronage was Pope Urban VII. The Cathedra Petri was one of Bernini s masterpieces which
exemplified his way of decorating richly and his gift of sculpting. David, Bernini s version, shows the
baroque style in his sculptors as well. David depicts strong emotion and concentration in mist battle.
Inside the church of Saint Peter s, he still lives on in his work and is responsible for the Baldacchino,
the canopy of bronze, which is located at the main altar. Francesco Borromini is known to be Bernini s
close rival. Borromini is said to use geometric figure (New World Encyclopedia) in his designs. This
is significant because it shows the complexity in his style of Baroque. It shows that though far from
perfect to the eye, Baroque architecture really is made from perfect components in order to create one
large piece. The entire structure must be able to flow smoothly without losing that complex aspect. For
instance, in his Sant Ivo alla Sapienza Borromini must execute a spiral formation as a dome.
Borromini s most significant architecture is his San Carlo alle Quattro

Plate Tectonics In Pompeii
Plate tectonics can cause a big impact on humans and could possibly shift its course and our
knowledge of the past. This quarter we have been studied plate tonics in the quarter. Pompeii was a
city that was affected by plate tonics, its movement caused a massive eruption with terrible
consequences. The earth is a massive sphere composed of different layers. The layers above the
surface are gas, the surface is liquid and solid, but deep below it s a dense liquid that moves around.
The liquids inside the earth move because as the center is heated the material in it is hot and so its
density is reduced. Materials with a lower density tend to rise up as materials with higher densities

The surrounding areas such as the river itself and the surrounding fertile volcanic soil were great
appeals for the settlers since their main income and productions were olives and grapes. The first
settlers didn t know that where they settled had been site for ancient volcanic eruptions, so they
assumed that now the mountain was safe. Ancient greek history tells the story of Hercules, a brave and
strong semi god who fought the giants in that landscape. On the morning of 24th of August a
tremendous bang signalled that the magma that had been building over the last thousand years had
finally burst through the crater of Vesuvius. Fire and smoke bellowed from the volcano. At this point,
it may have seemed that the mountain was doing nothing more than offering a harmless pyrotechnic
display but at midday an even bigger explosion blew off the entire cone of Vesuvius and a massive
mushroom cloud of pumice particles rose 27 miles (43 Km) into the sky. The power of the explosion
has been calculated as 100,000 times greater than the nuclear bomb which devastated Hiroshima in
1945 CE. The ash that started to rain down on Pompeii was light in weight but the density was such
that within minutes everything was covered in centimetres of it. People tried to flee the town or sought

Rappaccini s Daughter Comparison
With this concept in mind, readers can simply note that Beatrice was created first before Giovani and
thus the readers can state that in this version of the Garden of Eden, Eve comes before Adam. Instead
of creating Adam first, Rappacini created his own version of Eve through his experimentation with
poison. Then reader s get a sense that instead of creating an Eve for Adam, Rappaccini creates an
Adam for Eve from the line Rappaccini says to his daughter that thou art no longer lonely in the

However, look at how the text describes his creations. The previous lines make use of words like
mockery, depraved, monstrous, and evil to describe Rappaccini s experimental and deadly garden.
These words are all negative in design and by ascribing them to Rappaccini s status of a mortal man
compared to a powerful God, a full picture concerning the two entities is painted for the readers. The
text, due to this word choice, suggests that Rappaccini, cannot recreate the work of God or become a
god himself because he is just a man filled with mockery and mockery. As a mortal person,
Rappaccini cannot fully be God and it is his attempt to play God through his experimentation and
meddling that makes him a large and monstrous threat to those around him; within the story, it is his
God complex in the end that costs him a place amongst normal reality and costs him his own daughter.
From this, one can only make interpretations based on the powers of mortals in comparison to the
powers of God. From the negative adjectives used to describe Rappaccini s experimentation and
garden, readers can interpret that God s power is unreachable and pure compared to those of man.

  • 2. The Iowa State Teaching Standards The Iowa State teaching standards helped me throughout student teaching, and prepared me to be an effective classroom teacher. Through lesson planning, delivery, and reflection I was able to see how the standards were interdependent with one another. A great lesson cannot be created only using one standard, several standards should be used in every lesson I create as a teacher. Below I will explain how the standards better prepared me for the classroom while interrelating them throughout student teaching. During student teaching both of my placements were in math classrooms. With math being my endorsement, having a strong understanding of the content and knowing different methods (standards I XII) lead to success with my students As a future teacher, I believe these two standards are the most important. I need to create learning experiences that are meaningful and age appropriate for my students. I created a lesson for my 8th grade students that showed the importance of content and methods of teaching. In this lesson, students had to solve questions involving the 8th grade math standards, but the questions were made in puzzle pieces. Students had to match the question and answers, making a shape once the problems were completed. This is called a tangram, which is a concept students had learned in an earlier grade. This lesson used a variety of strategies and met the needs of my diverse learners (standards III V). The puzzle pieces had students use creative thinking and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Culturally, women writers revision of the existing male discourse that the book suggests bears remarkable resemblance with de Certeau s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gilbert and Gubar s suggestion is no less than building a female language by tactically maneuvering the existing conventions of patriarchal language through women writers own practices and the practices of their foremothers. Under the disguise of patriarchal discourse, women writers are telling stories of their own one may deem it as women s duplicity. Two of the typical maneuverings are palimpsest and parody. As Gilbert and Gubar put it: women from Jane Austen and Mary Shelley to Emily Brontë and Emily Dickinson produced literary works that are in some sense palimpsestic, works those surface designs conceal or obscure deeper, less accessible (and less socially acceptable) levels of meaning. (Gilbert Gubar, 73) Taking the double bind of stereotypical female figures for example, the split between the innocent, quiet, selfless, good women ( mother goddess, merciful dispensers of salvation, female symbols of justice ) and the vicious, evil women ( witches, evil eye, menstrual pollution, castrating mothers ) is a male construction that women writer can never escape. Rather than demolishing the binary, women writers redefine themselves by travelling between the two extremes through alternately defining themselves as angel women or as monster women (Gilbert Gubar, 44) and through creating dark doubles for themselves and their heroines (Gilbert Gubar, 79). In so doing, they simultaneously Asia Pacific Science ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Claude Monet Analysis Claude Monet s piece titled Sunrise (Marine) illustrates the daylight in the industrial port of Le Havre of the north coast, France. This piece was made in March or April of 1873. The piece s present location is the J. Paul Getty Museum, west pavilion, gallery w204. The medium is oil on canvas and is next to another piece made by Monet called The Portal of Rouen Cathedral in morning light. Claude Monet was part of the impressionist movement that changes French paintings of the nineteenth century. For Sunrise (1872), people criticized the paint due to the appearance of an unfinished painting, however other artist saw it as an honor and eventually called themselves impressionist . The painting brings out a beautiful image due to the colors, texture, and technique that plays an important role in society and culture. When entering the room, people crowded around Monet s pieces, which felt like an honor to see the type and techniques his work has. The colors describe the feeling of an early morning. The painting has a muted palette of blues, greens, and grays. The sunrise is orange and yellow which are surrounded by the clouds and smoke from steamboats. Three boats are shapes and visible while the rest fade into the distance. This painting is an example of plein air or outdoor painting. I also notice that Monet layered the colors so that when I viewed the painting from a far distance I knew what the painting was about however when I looked at it up close I saw brush strokes and ... Like Evie and V s revolt, Hotspur, through the rebel camp, similarly enacts a revolt against the established governmental power by specifically, trying to kill King Henry IV. As with the other examples, Hotspur does this for personal reasons related to past events. For instance, Hotspur believes that King Henry IV by not providing ransom for his brother in law, Mortimer is consequently, not properly repaying his family for their previous assistance to King Henry IV s ascension to the throne. Thus, just as in the Word for World is Forest, the conflict that Hotspur creates in turn, causes counter violence. Notably, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Mary Magdalene Research Paper Introduction Mary Magdalene is an inimitable protagonist and one of the most mysterious, important, controversial and beloved women in the whole entire Old and New Testament of the Bible. Her life story is unique as well as analogous to many other women in the Bible including, Eve, Naomi, Ruth of the Old Testament and the Mother of Jesus, who s personas are whispered faintly and spoken sparingly about by the Gospels of New Testament. One reason for this disparity is because woman played a very subservient role in the social, political and historical aspects and events in Biblical times. The women of the New Testament have not advanced much above the customs set for previous generations of women in the Old Testaments male dominated society. ... Spears July 10, 2011 Abstract Aerodynamics is known as the study of the different forces acting on an object and the resulting motion of objects as they fly through the air. Today we know that aerodynamics plays a major role in many sports, such as tennis, soccer, hunting, and motor sports, we will investigate the effects of aerodynamics on baseball. The three main forces that act on a baseball in flight are the weight, drag, and lift. In an effort to understand how a baseball changes direction we will discuss an additional force called the lift coefficient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like the drag, the amount of lift depends on several factors related to the barometric conditions of the air and the shape of the object. Additionally the velocity of the object and its relationship with the air plays a role as well. For a spinning ball, the speed of rotation affects the magnitude of the aerodynamic force and the direction of the force is perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The orientation of the axis of rotation or spin axis can be varied by the pitcher when the ball is thrown. If the axis is vertical, the lift force is horizontal and the ball can be made to curve to one side. If the axis is horizontal, the lift force is vertical and the ball can be made to dive or rise depending on the direction of rotation. A baseball in flight is neither smooth nor symmetric because of the stitches. So the center of pressure for a baseball moves slightly about the center of the ball with time, depending on the orientation of the stitches. The lift coefficient Cl for the baseball was finely determined by high speed photography of the flight of a pitched ball in many laboratories. The motion of the ball through the air depends on the relative strength and direction of the forces. We will look at the pitching of a curve ball. The curve ball problem involves all three forces with an additional force called the Magnus force. This force is a lift force generated from the spinning of the baseball produces the side force that causes the ball to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Gardner Bovington, there is a diverging perspective on the history of Xinjiang; to the Chinese historical perspective, in 1795, once the Qing general conquered the vast territory [...it became] an integral piece of Chinese national territory (Bovington 2). While to the Uyghurs, such concurring of land did not occur, allowing the Uyghurs to believe that they are still a distinct [...] nation, with its own rightful homeland, history, culture, and language (Bovington 2). Due to the strong authoritarian regime China centers itself upon, media outlets are potentially inaccurate sources of information. The CCP controls the outflow of information released by the media, due to such control over media outlets, China is able to manipulate any situation in order to gain support and sympathy. In reference to the Global Conflict Tracker, by China labeling the Uyghurs as a radicalized population it leads to the connotation that the Uyghurs are associated with either the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) or the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP) posing a direct terrorist risk to China (Darker blue). By China attempting to gain international support via identifying terrorist organizations within the PRC it allows China to address that this problem is not just a problem for China but also other countries who s enemies are terrorist organizations example, the United States and its fight against ISIS. Although this may seem as a benefit for China and its aims to integrate Xinjiang, for the Uyghurs it labels them as a potential terrorist organization; hence, limiting their ability to tell their side of the narrative and gain international sympathy limiting their ability to gain international support and address how the CCP is marginalizing the Uyghurs. Racial profiling is common within the Disney films. Where it is most commonly seen is within movies where two races are mixing, such as in the movie Pocahontas. Disney is not necessarily discriminating against a race through film, but Disney is making a point of portraying race and culture through film incorrectly based on stereotypes. Aladdin is an original Disney movie which brought racial profiling into question. Simply starting with the names of the characters brings question about race into view. The two most questioned names were Aladdin and Jafaar, names which were supposed to symbolize the poor Middle Eastern culture, are names that originally originate from Russia. Also, since this movie was supposed to be in a Middle Eastern city, the characters all had a dark complexion. The dark complexion was correct on Disney s part; however, what was incorrect was that all the facial features were European. By having the incorrect facial features with the dark skin tone it teaches children that they can sort people by race solely on a person s skin color. Aladdin was portrayed as simply a white man was a dark tan (Disney s Protrayal of Culture and Race in Film, 2009). Another Disney film which had racial profiling in it is The Lion King. Western Montana Fires Final Report: The Fires of 1910: The Big Burn In the summer of 1910 Northern Idaho and Western Montana were hit by what seemed like a never ending series of destructive forest fires. With the spring bringing hardly any rainfall and drying winds from the Columbia plains, creeks began to disappear and the montane forests became dry. Intense heat along with high winds and dry vegetation create the perfect environment for forest fires. In June and July several dry electric storms hit the mountains and fires began to develop in isolated corners of the forest. The U.S. Forest Service which had just been developed in 1905 consisted of forest rangers on horseback climbing the mountains and protecting the forest from fires (Bergoffen, 1976). As the ... In 1915 the Forest Service Research Branch was created in order to find the best ways to manage national forests and to study the different trees and plants so that reseeding and replanting of the forest could be done. These events managed to spur a conversation most relevant today but one that many continue to disregard. The LA Riots of 1992 still stands as one of if not the most critical event that tapped into the way we view systematic racism by sparking deep rooted dialogue about the intermingling of race, economics and injustice in America for African Americans. When looking back at the riots 25 years later, society has often received the needless white perspective and the necessary African American voice. However, many forget how many Korean Americans were affected by these events. The prompt was to make a simple war game on a grid. At the beginning, we just came up with some simple rule to begin the game because we knew that we will improve the rule after we played the game. One of the most important that I learned during I was working on this project is that playable games take time and testing. It is okay to start with a simple game idea, and we will improve on it later. Out first draft games were expected to suck, which is going to be a lot of error and unclear rule, and it also won t be able to play through the end. It helps that we did not put too much pressure on ourselves. The war game is a common structure with grid movement Mechanism on the board games. Many people tend to try to follow this procedure when reaching for success, regardless of the type of success. At times they lose themselves and become confused when their process does not go as planned. Like Willy, a character in the play, Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller; he did not have a set plan that would ensure him success upon completion. As Willy gets older, he fights with himself and his family practically going insane to try to grasp this concept he has about success. In the play, Arthur Miller highlights how the American Dream can quickly turn into a nightmare and how the approach to success for one person may not work for someone else. Miller also implements the theme Quest for Identity as Willy wishes to be acknowledged as a rich and successful businessman who earned his wealth from working hard. Willy s immediate family tries to remain as optimistic as possible while facing the hardship of Willy mentally battling himself. Then, he established that because an aggregate limit restricted how many candidates and committees an individual to support, it limited free speech and thus was only justified if it was necessary to prevent political corruption. He confined political corruption to bribery, arguing that if corruption was understood as money resulting in more influence to or ingratiation from an officeholder, then the government would have a say in who could govern, citing the precedent of Arizona Free Enterprise Club s Freedom Club PAC v. Bennet. He also added that ingratiation and influence create more responsive candidates and are therefore good for democracy. Roberts argued that aggregate limits were not necessary to preventing bribery because any scenario where circumvention could happen would be either illegal under earmarking rules or unlikely because many state parites would have to participate in the scheme. The Clash Of Civilizations By Samuel Huntington Essay Samuel Huntington s controversial article The Clash of Civilizations? was first published in Foreign Affairs in 1993 and was subsequently turned into a book in 1996 titled The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order. As this paper will show Huntington s work can be seen as a product of the post Cold War context it was written in. Huntington s article takes a new perspective on the new world order and outlines a different way a thinking about how future world conflicts will unfold. Since the initial journal article was published in 1993 there has been a great deal of response from academics and also from Huntington himself. A majority of the responses come in the form of critiques, with the authors offering their own insight into how the post Cold War World will operate. Although the validity of Huntington s arguments have been questioned, it did create a great deal of controversy in the academic world. As Huntington explained in the preface of his 1996 book, the original article published in Foreign Affairs created more discussion in three years than any other article published in the journal since the 1940s. Huntington s initial article argued that in the post Cold War era the fundamental source of conflict would not be ideological or economic, but cultural. He continues by arguing that nation states will continue to be the most powerful actors in global affairs, but the conflicts of global politics that are to occur in the future will happen between ... David, Bernini s version, shows the baroque style in his sculptors as well. David depicts strong emotion and concentration in mist battle. Inside the church of Saint Peter s, he still lives on in his work and is responsible for the Baldacchino, the canopy of bronze, which is located at the main altar. Francesco Borromini is known to be Bernini s close rival. Borromini is said to use geometric figure (New World Encyclopedia) in his designs. This is significant because it shows the complexity in his style of Baroque. It shows that though far from perfect to the eye, Baroque architecture really is made from perfect components in order to create one large piece. The entire structure must be able to flow smoothly without losing that complex aspect. For instance, in his Sant Ivo alla Sapienza Borromini must execute a spiral formation as a dome. • 34. Plate Tectonics In Pompeii Plate tectonics can cause a big impact on humans and could possibly shift its course and our knowledge of the past. This quarter we have been studied plate tonics in the quarter. Pompeii was a city that was affected by plate tonics, its movement caused a massive eruption with terrible consequences. The earth is a massive sphere composed of different layers. The layers above the surface are gas, the surface is liquid and solid, but deep below it s a dense liquid that moves around. The liquids inside the earth move because as the center is heated the material in it is hot and so its density is reduced. Materials with a lower density tend to rise up as materials with higher densities lower, this causes all the materials inside of the earth to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The surrounding areas such as the river itself and the surrounding fertile volcanic soil were great appeals for the settlers since their main income and productions were olives and grapes. The first settlers didn t know that where they settled had been site for ancient volcanic eruptions, so they assumed that now the mountain was safe. Ancient greek history tells the story of Hercules, a brave and strong semi god who fought the giants in that landscape. On the morning of 24th of August a tremendous bang signalled that the magma that had been building over the last thousand years had finally burst through the crater of Vesuvius. Fire and smoke bellowed from the volcano. At this point, it may have seemed that the mountain was doing nothing more than offering a harmless pyrotechnic display but at midday an even bigger explosion blew off the entire cone of Vesuvius and a massive mushroom cloud of pumice particles rose 27 miles (43 Km) into the sky. The power of the explosion has been calculated as 100,000 times greater than the nuclear bomb which devastated Hiroshima in 1945 CE. The ash that started to rain down on Pompeii was light in weight but the density was such that within minutes everything was covered in centimetres of it. People tried to flee the town or sought shelter where they could and those without shelter tried desperately to keep themselves above the shifting layers of volcanic ... Rappaccini s Daughter Comparison With this concept in mind, readers can simply note that Beatrice was created first before Giovani and thus the readers can state that in this version of the Garden of Eden, Eve comes before Adam. Instead of creating Adam first, Rappacini created his own version of Eve through his experimentation with poison. Then reader s get a sense that instead of creating an Eve for Adam, Rappaccini creates an Adam for Eve from the line Rappaccini says to his daughter that thou art no longer lonely in the world...My science and the sympathy between thee and him, have wrought within his system, that he now stands apart from common men... However, look at how the text describes his creations. The previous lines make use of words like mockery, depraved, monstrous, and evil to describe Rappaccini s experimental and deadly garden. These words are all negative in design and by ascribing them to Rappaccini s status of a mortal man compared to a powerful God, a full picture concerning the two entities is painted for the readers. The text, due to this word choice, suggests that Rappaccini, cannot recreate the work of God or become a god himself because he is just a man filled with mockery and mockery. As a mortal person, Rappaccini cannot fully be God and it is his attempt to play God through his experimentation and meddling that makes him a large and monstrous threat to those around him; within the story, it is his God complex in the end that costs him a place amongst normal reality and costs him his own daughter. From this, one can only make interpretations based on the powers of mortals in comparison to the powers of God. From the negative adjectives used to describe Rappaccini s experimentation and garden, readers can interpret that God s power is unreachable and pure compared to those of man.
