there is artwork from many different artists in the Art in the Village, there is not a
theme to the artwork there. However, after reviewing all the art, you can notice that
each artist had their own theme. Each artist shares their inimitable talents and artistic
gifts, making this gallery one of a kind. Though the great pieces in this gallery were
boundless, one piece that really stuck out was River Runs Through by Jette Garner....
Through movement of spiraling colors, a sense of rhythm and a focal point was
created in the upper right corner. Though the artist did not list her medium for this
piece, it was pretty clear she used acrylic paint. The use of the complimentary colors
purple and yellow creates a contrast that catches the eye. Also, the contrast of colors
creates implied lines and circles. The River Runs Through is well balanced. The left
contains patterned or textured colors that metamorphoses into a focal point of smooth
colors creating the perfect balance. This painting is smaller scaled. Though it does
contain formal qualities, I would say that this piece is more informal than formal.
It holds an impression of both modern art and abstract art adjoined. With the title as
Garner s strongest hint, this photo is meant to symbolize a river that keeps running.

The averaged data for varying the KIO3 concentration is displayed in Table 1 and
plotted onto Graph 1. When varying the concentration of KIO3 0.134, 0.100, 0.080
and 0.067M at 30В°C, it is apparent that as the concentration decreases, the reaction
rate decreases which supports the hypothesis. This can be seen as the lowest
concentration of KIO3 was 0.067M with the duration of the reaction being 5.85s. The
time decreased approximately 25% for each new KIO3 concentration until it reached
2.95s at 0.134M.

First, Maria describes a weird mirror on her grandparent s back porch that she
would stare at as a child. But, as stated by the narrator, She never saw anything
except her own reflection (Talley 14). While Maria believes that the mirror had
some sort of paranormal quality, there is no real experience to back up this claim it
was only a feeling that Maria had. On the other hand, further on in the novel, it is
described that Maria once saw a little boy, who said her name, sitting at the foot of
her bed. Considering the fact that these two mediocre examples are supposed to
prove Maria s seasoned past with spirits, it is only logical for readers to feel deceived.
Talley went out of her way to declare that Maria had a history with the supernatural
in the first chapter of the novel, and even repeated this fact several times throughout
the story. However, she failed to effectively elaborate upon this, instead providing
two examples that were nothing short of unfulfilling. As a result, readers start the
novel wanting to know more about Maria s past, but are only met with an
incomplete backstory, leaving a feeling of frustration after the novel is finished. In
connection to Maria s incomplete backstory, Talley s second false step was the
introduction of a supernatural being known as La Llorona. Specifically, readers are

The title of this paper is posed as a question so that one can explore and investigate
if Buddhism and meditation can bring the mind freedom from negativity. One of the
most important things I have learned thus far, is that anger and hatred are based on
projections and exaggeration, not on objectivity or wisdom. This stikes me as very

In Buddhism we learn that we must realize how we attach ourselves to these
thoughts and how to free ourselves from them so that we can let go of our egos.
In Vipassana, the basic principles are about experiencing one s own reality. Much
emphasis is placed on self observation and perception. This notion of self observation
is something many people, including myself often neglect. In individualized Western
culture, especially in the United States, much emphasis is placed upon doing. In such
an environment, there is often little time for self exploration, especially of one s
thoughts. I think this can be attributed to how easily agitated and angered we can
become over little things. We are constantly going through the motions of life,
without looking closely at each motion, and when our path is interrupted or derailed,
we are unhappy. What we can learn from these teachings, however, is that while it
may be impossible to prevent anger and negativity from entering our minds, what we
need to do is keep it from residing within our thoughts.
By closely observing our minds and our thoughts, we may be able to control our

When I started to wear the hijab, I was very excited and nerves about the hijab.
