Transfer Essay Samples
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Transfer Essay Samples" can be quite challenging due to
various factors. First and foremost, the topic demands a comprehensive understanding of the
intricacies involved in the transfer process, including the specific criteria and requirements set by
academic institutions. Moreover, one must possess the ability to articulate personal experiences,
goals, and reasons for the transfer effectively.
A challenging aspect of this task is striking the right balance between showcasing genuine
reasons for transferring and avoiding any negativity towards the current institution. This requires
a nuanced approach to narrative construction, ensuring that the essay reflects personal growth
and development rather than focusing solely on perceived shortcomings of the current academic
environment.
Additionally, gathering appropriate transfer essay samples for reference can be a time-consuming
process. It requires meticulous research to find examples that align with individual experiences
and goals. Analyzing these samples to understand the structure, tone, and content further adds to
the complexity of the task.
Furthermore, the essay must convey a sense of enthusiasm and commitment towards the
prospective institution, demonstrating a genuine interest in the new academic environment.
Achieving this requires a careful selection of language and tone to convey sincerity without
sounding overly rehearsed.
In conclusion, tackling a "Transfer Essay Samples" essay demands a combination of research,
self-reflection, and effective communication skills. Balancing the various elements while
maintaining a positive and constructive tone is essential for a compelling piece. As with any
challenging writing task, seeking guidance or assistance from resources likeHelpWriting.net

Osteoporosis And Treatment Of Osteoporosis Essay
Osteoporosis is one of the most prevalent bone diseases worldwide (Mulcahy, et
al.). It is characterised as a disease which leads to the loss of bone mass due to bone
deterioration, therefore leading to bones becoming more brittle and fragile (U.S.
Department of Health and Human services, 2004). Physiologically, boneis constantly
re modelled by concerted and coordinated interactions between osteoclasts, type of
cells that are involved in resorption of the bones, and osteoblasts, which ensure bone
formation and mineralization. Osteoporosisresults from an imbalance between bone
deposition and resorption (Castiglioni, et al., 2013)
Osteoporosis affects millions of people worldwide, but the groups that are at highest
risks include elderly and post menopausal women (International Osteoporosis
Foundation, 2015). As osteoporosis is associated with aging, it becomes a major
health concern as the aging population will double over the next decade (Age UK,
2016). Due to that fact, there has been an increase in an interest in development of the
preventive strategies for decreasing the incidence of osteoporosis. One of most
important strategies is dietary intervention, as there are nutritious factors that play a
key role in formation and development of the bones. Majority of the previous studies
were concentrated on relationship between calcium, vitamin D and density of the
bones. But recent studies have mentioned the importance of Magnesium, chemical
element which plays a key role in
How Did The Shang Dynasty Influence Early Chinese
Society
Early Chinese society was ruled by different dynasties. The dynastic rule was an
important part of the culture and its development. The rule was passed on from
father to son, making the dynasty ruled by a family. Xia Dynasty The Xia dynasty
was the first historically known dynasty. It ruled China from 2200 1750 B.C.E. by
Yu and his son (Judge and Langdon, 2016).The Xia dynasty controlled/ruled many
of the cities and towns along side of China s yellow river. They created many
palaces, tombs and paved the roads of China. The Xia dynasty is responsible for
creating the early bronze tools and weapons. Through scholarly arguments it is
believed that the Xia dynasty was a mythological dynasty that never existed. They
ruled China up until they were overthrown by the Shang dynasty (Judge and
Langdon, 2016). Shang Dynasty The Shang dynasty were the first to perfect the use
of the Xia bronze tools and weapons. They divided the Chinese society into a
stratified society that was much like a war system. The most important people... Show

He was able to united China under one ruler by conquering nearly all of China,
thus he became known as Shihuangdi (the first emperor). The joining of the
kingdoms was the cause of the Great Wall of China to be built because it was
supposed to provide help to the joined forces; by prevent the invasions from the
northerners. Qin Shi Huang maintained a strict ruling and very strict consequences.
He used many things to punish those who went against his dynastic rule, such as
branding or burying offenders alive (Judge and Langdon, 2016). His strict laws
were so extreme and alienated the people of China, that he eventually became very
paranoid. Because of his obsession with death, the first emperor sought the help of
oracles and magicians to try and find formulas for eternal life and many sea
expeditions (Judge and Langdon,
Difference Between Fe-For-Service Plan And Managed Care
Plan
There are various differences and similarities that exist between the principles of
how the Fee for Service plan works and how the Managed Care plan works. To start
with, with the Fee for Service, a patient can go see any physician that he or she
wants. However, under the managed care plan, one is only allowed to see the
physicians who have an affiliation with the plan (Feldstein 110). This comes with a
strong financial incentive. The next difference that exists between the two is that one
can see any specialist whenever you like, even though some practitioners prefer when
referrals are done by the general practitioners. For the managed careplan, a patient is
referred to a specialist only if the primary physician determines it as being very
My Antonia Symbolism Analysis
During My Antonia there are many symbols which are used to provide messages to
the reader about not only the story but about life. One of the biggest symbols used
during the course of the story is the Nebraska prairie. Cather uses the prairie to show
the reader both how good and tough life can be. For example, during the summer, the
prairieis full of wonderful things like prairie dogs playing and it can provide the
food needed to survive as a pioneer in the west. In the story, Jim says that July came
on with that breathless, brilliant heat which makes the plains of Kansas and Nebraska
the best corn country in the world. It seemed as if we could hear the corn growing in
the night . However, during the winterit is cold and harsh and make... Show more

They were big and warm and full of light, like the sun shining on brown pools in the
wood . This shows that Cather wanted you to think of Antonia of someone who you
could admire and who you would want to be friends with right away.
In addition to be nice, she was a hard worker, willing to do whatever was necessary
for her and her family to survive following her father s death. She was willing to
stop going to school to work on the farm, she said I can work like mans now. My
mother can t say no more how Ambrosch do all and nobody to help him. I can work
as much as him. School is all right for little boys. I help make this land one good
farm. Antonia was never afraid to go to work to make her life better which is what a
lot of immigrants did when they came to America. Antonia shows throughout the
story that hard work was needed to live and have a good life. I think Cather admired
how hard people like Antonia worked and wanted that to show in the story.
Another way that Cather he admired her was that she never shows Antonia
complaining about her hard life, she just accepts it and does what she need to be a
great mother. Jim says as I confronted her, the changes grew less apparent to me, her
identity stronger. She was there, in the full vigor of her personality, battered but not
diminished . This shows that no matter how tough life was to her, she got through it
and became a very
Discourse On Livy
NiccolГІ Machiavelli is very well known as an important and influential Italian
historian, politician, philosopher, and writer during the Renaissance. His book,
Discourses on Livy, is a discussion regarding the classical history of early Ancient
Rome, although it uses contemporary political examples and strays far away from
the subject of Rome at times. It is presented as a series of lessons on how a republic
should be started and structured. Most importantly, it constantly brings up the idea of
corruptionand corrupt people, which is not surprising because we all desire things
and search for the simplest way to obtain it, even though the easiest way to obtain
something might be a corrupt way. When Machiavelli uses the term corrupt or... Show

It seems more difficult to change the regime. This is the source of corruption. When
one class of society strives to better themselves and succeed in doing so, it causes
corruption. Machiavelli spends a chunk of Discourses on Livy discussing how states
are corrupt and the citizens within them are corrupt as well. The first important
point he makes when it comes to corruption is that men do not know how to be
entirely good or bad. He claims, they concluded that men clearly do not know how
to be honourably bad or perfectly good, and that when an evil deed contains in
itself some grandeur or some generosity, they do not know how to carry it out
(Machiavelli 82). Thus, Machiavelli is elaborating on the theme of good and bad
and how even those who are good and are not considered corrupt still make bad
decisions sometimes. Generally, men decide on a middle course, instead of
choosing a completely good or bad course. This decision is seen as most hazardous
because it is hard to claim someone is good if they do not make entirely good
decisions and it is hard to claim someone is bad if they do not make entirely bad
decisions. The second important point Machiavelli makes is that men are easily
corrupted and even those who are good can easily turn bad. He states, It should also
be noted, in this matter or the decemvirate, how easily men may be corrupted and
how they may transform themselves and give

I Have Shaped My Personal Values
Personal Values Personal values reflect what we think is important in life. Such as,
the decisions we make and the actions we take. Being seventeen years old, I value
the respect from younger people. I, however, have various influences in my life,
which have shaped my values. For example, 4 H has taught me how to be a leader.
My mother, with her hard work, has taught me how to work for what I long to have.
High schoolhas taught me to be superior than my peers and not to fall prey to peer
pressure. In addition, work has demonstrated me to do what I love. As a result, I
found what I am passionate about. After all, these influences have shown me how to
be successful and achieve my goals. Firstly, 4 H has taught me what leadershipreally
means. As a result of acquiring the knowledge of what leadership means, I became
a better leader. Generally speaking, everybody can attain leadership skills.
However, putting the skills in action creates good leaders. Everyday smaller
children look up to each and every one of us. Wether we are at the grocery store or
at the football game, little kids and even our own peers respect us. For example,
during the fair when showing, the judge will often tell the younger children to
watch and learn from the seniors. Furthermore, having people look up to me
whether it is to my knowledge or not affects my values because I aspire to be the
best role model for someone else. Consequently, knowing I have someone watching
me, causes me to contemplate before I make any decision or action. For instance,
in many social media posts, most people rant about a subject, before long they
apologize for their foul language. In my perspective, the apology does not make the
post more acceptable. Social media is filled with countless negative posts, but a
single human being can make the slightest difference in someone s life simply by
acting positive. Being a positive person online additionally to in public, can influence
the younger generations to do the same.
My mother has also made a huge impact on my personal values in various diverse
forms. For example, as a child I had to ask for permission before I could watch
television or even get a snack. When my friends talk about all the television shows
Analysis Of Hadot s The Inner Citadel
Life is finite; when something is started, it must be finished. Similar to how life
begins when we are an embryo and end when it s our time. Our time could be
today, tomorrow or even the near distant future. We start as nothing and end as
nothing and thus the time we have to make our mark on the world is limited.
Humans are finite beings, not only in time but in the amount freedom and the
degree of control we have as well. In Hadot s The Inner Citadel, he discusses his
view on freedom, but more specifically, how free we truly are. He brings up the
analogy that, ...the self becomes aware of itself as an island of freedom in the
midst of a great sea of necessity, (Hadot 112) which is trying to convey that
throughout our lives, yes we do have freedom but freedom is usually swallowed by
the things that we need to do. For example, if there was an essay due next week
and you haven t started yet, you may choose to put it off until a later date or you
could start now so you have more time to write a solid essay and thus could get a
better grade. Furthermore, you are also an Outstanding Scholar that would like to
uphold the marks you ve had previously to maintain the scholarship you have
received and as well you re the firstborn and are expected to do well to be a good
example to your younger siblings. In this example, you clearly do have a choice, to
leave the essay till a bit later, however, the circumstances surrounding why you need
to do well most likely would impede on you
Essay about The Cat and his Master
The Cat and his Master
Puss in Boots is a strange little folk tale in which a talking cat performs deeds of
heroism in order to further his master s lot in life. It is saddled with a moral which
implies that through hard work and ingenuity one can rise above his station. This
hardly seems to be the case, however, when we look at the contributions made by the
miller s youngest son and master of the puss himself. Furthermore, the symbolism
peppered throughout the tale would seem to indicate that there is more going on.
The tale begins with the death of a miller, who leaves his sole possessions to his
three sons. The youngest of the sons winds up with nothing but what he believes to
be a lowly cat, which he is convinced will be good ... Show more content on

The cat in turn becomes the son and the main protagonist of our story and the only
character to go through a transformation. When viewed at this angle, the moral
retains its truth.
The deeper story here seems to be a part coming of age, part underdog overcoming
the odds tale. The story begins with a miller. In a pre industrial society, the miller
would have had an important position, akin to a woodcutter. The miller was
responsible for grinding corn into meal, essential in making bread and other
staples. His death represents a lack of a provider in his sons lives. The two elder
sons are granted an inheritance that will allow them to make a living, but not the
youngest, who gets the cat. The cat, a possession of the miller, also finds himself
without a provider, and hatches a plan to prevent the son from eating him. In the
course of the story, the son becomes as reliant on the cat as he was on his father. It
is at this point that the cat replaces the son as a formal story element. In many
respects, the cat and the son are two halves of the same character, their fates
interlocked with one another. This is a deliberate device which reflects the medieval
superstition that cats were somehow linked to their masters, as Robert Darnton
suggests in his article The Great Cat Massacre.
The cat asks for some boots to protect his feet from the thorny undergrowth. Putting
boots on the cat reinforces the superstition and creates an
Habits Of Highly Effective People By Stephen R. Covey
Summary of Main Points in 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
This book on 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was written in 1989, is still a great
book today. Stephen R. Covey talked about great habits that we need to encrypt in
our daily living to be effective at work, home and as a person. He explained how the
habits is based on developing our independence. The first habit he talked about was
being proactive in our lives. To be proactive we need to have self awareness of our
actions. We need to take responsibility for the choices we make and take responsible
for those choices.
Second habit is to begin with the end in mind. This is where you develop a vision
of what you want to become and our conscience will decide what values will guide
you and everything that you do should have an end.
Third habit is to put first things first. This is where we need to have discipline to
our day so we make sure that we focus on what is the most important to the least
important. This is where our will power will come into effect so we don t act on our
desires or impulses.
Habit four is the win win thought process. To be successful you need to look at the
problem between you and the other party and approach it with a mutual solution. To
do this it requires understanding and being understood. This way everyone can be
satisfied with the outcome of the solution.
The fifth habit was, seek first to understand them to understood. One important skill
that we need to use is our listening
Why I Want To Go To College Essay
Ever since I ve been deciding what college I want to go to in the future, it was hard
choosing the top three colleges I wanted to go to because I didn t know the major I
really want to study. As I was a freshman, I realized the majors I wanted to study
was informational science and medical science. This resulted me that the top three
colleges I want to apply to are Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of
Technology, and Stony Brook University.Ever since I wanted to go to Massachusetts
Institute of Technology as part of my top three choices, this was my first choice
because the top major that I really wanted to study was informational technology.
This top collegebest fits me because it s ranked the first for computer science which
sparked my strong interest that I wanted to apply to this college. Ever since in this
time of the era of the 21st century in which new technology innovations are
flourishing, this sparked my interest in why I wanted to study computer science at the
Massachusetts of Institute of Technology. The reason was so I can find more benefits

Thus, I also have a strong interest of studying medical science other than computer
science. The reason is I want capability into studying and making new medicines
and vaccines that can help others be immune to certain diseases such as HIV so

beginning of the twenty second century. Therefore, if I manage to apply to
Harvard University to study medical science, it would help me get a head start into
helping other people cure of serious illnesses who are at risk of dying. As a matter
of fact, this would give me a chance to make impact toward my time of generation so
more people can become healthier and stronger than from the

Final Paper:
How will 3D printing affect the process and quality of constructing housing in the
21st Century?
The role of Technology in the 21st century cannot be over looked. It has completely
transformed the way we live and the way we interact with each other. It has enabled
the formation of numerous possibilities that were not previously imaginable. 3D
printing has evolved so much in the past 5 years where we can now virtually make
any shape using this technology. Although in the past it was reserved for smaller
items such as machinery parts, it is now being used to create much bigger items such
as cars and even houses. It has also become much cheaper ... Show more content on

This is something that evolution in technology can change, like anything in our
society, as time progresses these technologies become more and more open to the
public.
(Picture A)
The History
Throughout history we can see that housing has followed certain trends. These trends
are most heavily influenced by the technology available to the public at that time. As
can be seen throughout history, living conditions in general have improved, as there
are more access to resources and building technologies. Although the world we live
in has changed greatly, the basic type of shelter needed for everyday life and the
resources needed to construct them has changed very little. This is why we can see
a lot of parallels between the ways people live throughout history. However, the
biggest change is in the way we construct buildings and especially housing. History
has taught us that as time goes by, technology increases, making it easier for us to
build structures. For example the Egyptians relied solely on Adobe (sun dried mud
bricks) and slave labor for construction. Then came the development of hydraulic lime
mortar, the Treadwell cranes (which is a wooden, human powered hoisting and
lowering device) as well as the start of domes and arches, as structural components in
architecture. Followed by the Middle Ages, which saw a huge emphasis on the
construction of massive public buildings such as Cathedrals, Churches, Fortifications
Children Of The Victorian Era
Abandon Children In the Victorian era many lower class women abandoned their
children because they didn t have a stable financial income. Majority of the kids
that were relinquished, because of absence of income in a family. The few shelters
existing in the Victorian culture were awful to the point that numerous kids
decided to live on their own in the city. Orphans living on their own in the city
would most likely make them prone to becoming criminals. There was an
abundance of things that could happen to the children of the village. Generally,
adoption was unlikely. This is because there was no proper way to go about
adopting a child in Victorian times. The living and working conditions of the poor
were so unsanitary and crowded that diseases such as typhus and tuberculosis often
spread unchecked, sending many of their victims to the grave Czarnik, Living
Conditions . However, children were often considered orphans if they had one
surviving parent, had been abandoned by their family, or were forced out into the
world due to overcrowding at home. Throughout the years there has always been
several cases of children being abandoned by their parent s, because many parents
either were not ready to raise a child, the child was born with some type of
deficiency, or many children became orphans because both of their parents or
caregivers may have passed away. Nowadays there is several places where you may
take a child in the case that the parents are unable to take care of
Problems With Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina was a devastating category 5 that made landfall in Buras,
Louisiana, on Monday, August, 25, 2005. It was downgraded to a level 4
hurricane when it made landfall. This hurricane was extremely devastating for the
city of New Orleans 2004 (Haddow, Bullock, Coppola, 2014 p17). This hurricane
was so overwhelming that it crippled local government which ceased to exist
immediately after the disaster. The main problem with FEMA at the was
President George W. Bush. This was less that four years after 911 and a majority
of its resources were applied to terrorism 2004 (Haddow, Bullock, Coppola, 2014

I believe that the largest problem with FEMA and other emergency management
agencies in the United States is with its leadership. FEMA s leadership and direction
fall upon the whim of the United States President. The problem is that they place
someone as director in the office with little to no disaster management skills. These
directors would maintain their role until they failed miserably at the next major
disaster. The government must realize that this is a service of government that cannot
be taken lightly that we are constant threat of natural disasters and that when local or
state government cannot provide then it becomes the responsivity of the United
States Government. The person who is chosen to lead this office must have the skills
and experience to deploy resources of the government into communities that need it
the most with affected by disaster. Given the importance of this role the leader must
have been granted the authority by our government to override other bureaucratic
agencies especially when responding to these
Alan Patton s Cry The Beloved Country
Cry, the Beloved Country, written by Alan Patton, is the compelling story of how
man made evils in the city of Johannesburg affect the lives of each member of the

over his distant relationships with his sister, brother and son. To fix this, he travels to
Johannesburg in hopes to restore the connection he has between his family. However
he is shocked to witness the evils in which they have all partaken in. His brother, a

Kumalo wanted to achieve economic equality for the blacks; however he also did
this to achieve power for himself as well. The industry is powerless without our
labour. Let us cease to work and this industry will die. And I say it is better to cease
to work than to work for such wages (219) By not working, Kumalo wants to start a
revolt against the government in hopes to retain power in the form of dictatorship.
However Patton makes it clear that this type of belief would not succeed because
of the immediate result from the revolt. The police were called in to drive the black
miners into the mine. There was fighting and three of the black miners were killed.
But all is quiet they report all is quiet (223) The revolt was quickly taken care of,
implying the fact that this type of solution would not be
Women in Ancient Rome Essay
Women in Ancient Rome
In Roman times women were treated differently depending on their class, and family
background. However Roman women off all social classes were expected to assume,
that they were merely possessions of their fathers and then of their husband.
Many Romans told a story (below) about a woman named Cornelia, a Roman woman
of the second century BC:
An upper class women from Campania was staying with Cornelia, a mother of the

In AD 14, the Emperor Augustus, on his death bed, is reported to have told his wife,
Livia;
always remember whose wife you have been .
Freeborn Roman women were never allowed to forget that people always regarded
them as someone s daughter, wife or mother, but never as an individual who has their
own rights.
Daughters
Roman daughters, much like Greek daughters, were always in the custody of the
oldest male in her family and had to obey their rules. (The paterfamilias) the head of
the household. In the Roman law, the paterfamilias was so important and powerful
that he had the right over everyone s life in his family.
The daughters name as simply the name of her fathers but in a feminine form, there
was nothing personal in a daughter s name. If the father was called (Marcus Tullius
Cicero) the daughter would be simply be called Tullia. If however more than one
daughter was born in that family then to prevent confusion she would be called Tullia
the younger, or Tullia the second, and so on.
We know this because historian s found evidence of this, from letters written on
papyrus sheets that have survived from Roman times.
Laws passed by Roman emperor s show that unwanted children were exposed and
left to die in public places, often on rubbish heaps. The precise number of female
babies left to rot like this is unknown;
The Prevalence of Younger Students Lying to Health...
Communication is a functional, purposeful, and strategic aspect of human
socialization. Individuals have the ability make conscious decisions to control their
expressive language to manipulate the perceived interpretations of others (Burgoon,
Callister, Hunsaker, 445). As people acquire language, they develop sensitivity to the
Gricean maxims of conversation. The first of these maxims is Quantity I , or the
failure to provide enough information. The second of these maxims is Quantity II , or
the provision of too much or redundant information. The third of these maxims is
Quality , or veracity (Siegal, Iozzi, and Surian, 2009). These three Gricean maxims of
conversation alone encompass the prevalence of various forms of lying in the context
of human communication. The significance of lying is that it can change various
outcomes that negatively impact various circumstances. In the realm of health care,
patients may lieto health professionals for a number of reasons including to acquire
unnecessary or excessive medications, to avoid embarrassment or judgment, and to
reduce expensive medical charges that may accumulate over time. No matter how
well intentioned the doctor faced with a patient in need of help may be, it is he who
has the advantage resulting from the knowledge he has (the truth) and his skills: a
disproportion occurs between these two parties (Tanasiewicz, 2005, 16). Regardless
of the motivation patients may have for lying, they may be jeopardizing
Legal Documents And Law Codes
Question 1: Since the arrival of the first ancient civilizations, there has been a
necessary desire for order. For culture to grow, for life to persist, for such a
dynamic element as humanity to live in harmony with itself, order is required.
This in mind, it s no wonder that so many ancient texts describing legal documents
and law codes have been unearthed throughout the ages. Shaped by history, the
ongoing battle for ordered living resulted in the creation of law, a method of
keeping peace. Indeed, order is the precise reason for the development of law. As
societies developed, as agriculture expanded, populations would increase. To
combat this, government was the natural course. Reading from Traditions and
Encounters, the text states this idea in several circumstances: With their expanding
populations, the cities also needed to prevent conflicts between urban residents
from escalating into serious civic disorder. Moreover, because agriculture was
crucial to the welfare of urban residents, the cities all became city states...and
oversaw affairs in surrounding agricultural regions (p.27), The need to recruit,
train, equip, maintain, and deploy military forces created another demand for
recognized authority (p.28). From all of this, a clear view is given of the overall
need for a governing body. Society, as it gets to be ever more developed, meets an
increased need for ordered agriculture to feed these increasing populations, ordered
military to fight opposing nations and

Christopher Ashton Kutcher, more commonly known as Ashton Kutcher, is an
American actor turned investor. Starting off on That 70s Show, Kutcher lunged into
his career where he soon later became a leader in the public eye. While still
maintaining his acting career, Kutcher is currently the Founder at A Grade

However, what makes Ashton Kutcher so miraculous is that while still maintaining
his career, he is also very active in the community in fighting for what he believes in.
To define what makes Ashton Kutcher a leader, we will look into three competencies
proven by his Twitter account (@aplusk): personal competency, communication
competency and organizational competency. A competency is the ability to do

the personal competency. Personal competency are the personal traits and abilities

Essay About Counselors
We were getting back from our learning groups and I found our counselor Lauren
and we had to gather all the rest of the girls in cabin 4 and our other counselor
Skyler and walk up to the cabin. Why did Dr. Burnham want to talk to us? I started
to wonder, was it because we weren t in bed by 10:30 always? Was it because we
forgot to do something? Or was it since we were not all done showering early
enough? I looked up and then saw Dr. Burnham standing at the top of the hill
waiting for us. I barely could breathe as my heart sank. We finally got there and
then sat down at the fireplace. He then explained what we were doing there. You re
not in trouble. He reasoned. A girl we found out got scabies, and we just need to get

They all thought we were contagious or something and didn t want to be with us.
So after dinner, we got called to go to our cabin and grabbed our things and headed
to whatever cabin we wanted to stay in. We went to the little cabin put our things
on our beds and got situated. As we did this we all looked at each other knowing if
we really wanted to do this. We decided we did and then went with the other girls
to see where they were staying, waiting patiently for them to put their things up in
their cabins. We went and did our recreation, and we heard more people talking
about us, and we couldn t deal with it so we talked to Mrs. Bohr. She told us it was
fine and that if it continues we should tell her again. After we did our activities we
all looked at each other and knew we were heading back to other cabins and
separating. More talk went through the night and we couldn t deal with it. We just
kept crying and crying and finally, we went to talk to Mrs. Bohr. Mrs. Bohr, may we
talk to you for a second? We asked. Sure what s up? We hear everyone talking about
us, and we can t deal with it no more it hurts our feelings so much, sorry. We
explained. Okay, well if it continues to come back to me and tell me and we will
address it. So we took her advice and we went along with our day. Later that day

Editing Proofreading
Editing and Proofreading
This handout provides some tips and strategies for revising your writing. To give
you a chance to practice proofreading, we have left seven errors (three spelling
errors, two punctuation errors, and two grammatical errors) in the text of this
handout. See if you can spot them!
Is editing the same thing as proofreading?
Although many people use the terms interchangeably, editing and proofreading are
two different stages of the revision process. Both demand close and careful reading,
but they focus on different aspects of the writing and employ different techniques.
Some tips that apply to both editing and proofreading
п‚· Get some distance from the text! It s hard to edit or proofread a paper that you ve
just finished ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you read silently or too quickly, you may skip over errors or make
unconscious corrections. п‚· Separate the text into individual sentences. This is
another technique to help you to read every sentence carefully. Simply press the
return key after every period so that every line begins a new sentence. Then read
each sentence separately, looking for grammar, punctuation, or spelling errors. If
you re working with a printed copy, try using an opaque object like a ruler or a piece
of paper to isolate the line you re working on.
п‚· Circle every punctuation mark. This forces you to look at each one. As you
circle, ask yourself if the punctuation is correct.
п‚· Read the paper backwards. This technique is helpful for checking spelling. Start
with the last word on the last page and work your way back to the beginning, reading
each word separately. Because content, punctuation, and grammar won t make any
sense, your focus will be entirely on the spelling of each word.
You can also read backwards sentence by sentence to check grammar; this will help
you avoid becoming distracted by content issues.
п‚· Proofreading is a learning process. You re not just looking for errors that
Basic Assumptions Associated With Chrysler s Culture
1. What are the observable artifacts, espoused values, and basic assumptions
associated with Chrysler s culture? According to the article Chrysler was facing
bankruptcy and liquidation in 2009. Also in 2009 Chrysler received $4 billion in
government money to be bailed out. In 2009 Sergio Marchionne was also appointed
as Chryslers CEO. When Marchionne took over he had a new approach to bring
Chryslerout of bankruptcy. In 2009 Marchionne launched the Fiatseries and by May
2011 Marchionne repaid the money back to the U.S. and Canadian government,
paying it back several years early. Mr. Marchionne was very upset how Mr. Fong

Chrysler profits were decreasing and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marchionne changed the dress code, changed and published a list of values, parking
spaces, and ceremonies. The espoused values were the organizations explicitly stated
values that was implemented by top level managers. Chrysler has an integrity code
and it is to follow rules with conduct, have high ethical standards and protect the
environment. The basic assumptions are unwritten rules and highly resistant to
change. The other thing is the underlying assumptions of the core of the
organizations culture.
2. How is Mr. Marchionne trying to improve the PE fit of his direct reports? Sergio
Marchionne improves the PE fit by having meeting and conveying the quality and
pricing of the Chrysler vehicles are of the most importance to the organization.
Marchionne also had a plan to turn Chrysler around from bankruptcy so it would be
making a profit. He basically changed his management team. Marchionne did this by
conducting 15 min interviews and eliminating top management and keeping 23
people who had the experience, values, knowledge and personalities. Some junior
executives were moved up a level or two in the organization (Kreitner Kinicki
Pretrial Release Essay
In our text and in the article by Freiburger and Hilinski (2010) they both mention
pretrial release. Pretrial release is defined as: The practice of conditionally
releasing criminal defendants prior to trial without formal posting of bail. Those
who participate in pretrial release generally must have stable residence and
employment as well as other ties to the community that suggest they are likely to
appear for trial (Gabbidon Greene, 2013, p.327). Before this week readings I knew
a little bit about pretrial release, but I did not know that there is three categories of
pretrial release. The three different types of pretrial release which are nonfinancial,
financial, and emergency (Gabbidon Greene, 2013). Nonfinancial is basically
where a person is release without having to put up money. This is usually done
with a sign form that the person is going to show up to court on their assigned date
and this is usually released by law enforcement (Gabbidon Greene, 2013). The
second one, financial has four types of bond which are surety, deposit, full cash, and
property bond (Gabbidon Greene, 2013). I really didn t know about the different
types of bond... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both readings, they stated that African American is less likely to get release
than whites. Gabbidon and Greene (2013) data from 1990 2004 showed that 68%
of whites is likely to get release than African American at 62% and Hispanics at
55% (p.146). This shows that maybe race plays a factor, but its not a great big
difference. There has been studies that stated that they could not found where race
played in the bail amount (Freiburger Hilinski, 2010). Gabbidon Greene (2013)
also found that 74% of females are likely to received pretrial release than males at
60% (p. 146). There has been little study done on this, but it would be interesting to
see more data on this
Said The Ticktockman And Antigone
In society one has two expectations: to conform or to rebel. Imagine one lives in a
state that is ruled by order in the strictest sense a state where laws are so firmly
imposed that it leaves no chance for individuality or self will. Also, think of what
would happen when one tries to break laws. This is what Harlan Ellison, author of
the short storyRepent, Harlequin! Said the Ticktockman and Sophocles, author of the
play Antigone show us in their stories. Both, Repent, Harlequin Said the Ticktockman

for the society.

Both, Antigone and Harlequin know that they will be punished as a penalty for
defying the states edict. They choose to go against the states, but the consequences
of their choices are guided by fate. In the play Antigone, Antigone has one flaw
which is her stubbornness. In the play, Creon threats her to see if she would change
but she doesn t. After Creon find her guilt she is sentenced to death because she
breaks the law. But, Antigone does not go to let the Creon kill her for something she
thinks is the right thing to do. So, out of stubbornness, she commits suicide by
hanging herself. Her incentive is so that Creon wouldn t be able to kill her, since she
would already be dead. Like Antigone, Harlequin falls in the similar situation. In the
short story Repent, Harlequin! Said the Ticktockman Even Harlequin has one flaw
which is his stubbornness too. Harlequin action brings about what the rigid, oppresses
state sees as a major destruction of their unity and punctuality, and so the
Ticktockman moves to find out who this mysterious, motley jester is. After
Ticktockman finds Harlequin he tries to terrify him but Harlequin doesn t seem to

Community In The Giver
In The Giver Quartet, written by Louis Lowry each book has it s own utopia or
perfect world. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines utopia as an imaginary
place in which the government, laws, and social conditions are perfect. Each of
the four books in the quartet is perfect in their eyes, but in others eyes it is flawed.
For example, in The Giver the government suppresses individuality but, in
Messenger the people of the village celebrate their differences. In The Giver Louis
Lowry created a perfect world so different from our world today. Each member of
the community has their place and they are not to stray from it. The story follows an
eleven named Jonas as he becomes a twelve and gets his job assignment. At Jonas s

Meerkats
Meerkats: Standing Tall
Steven Fetherolf
Strayer University
Introduction
Standing tall, the small animal scans the sky for predators, his neck extended and
head swiveling side to side, ever diligent in the search for anything that may prove
a threat to his group of fellow meerkats. At his fullest height, he barely reaches 12 ,
the average of an adult male in his species. What is this strange animal, looking
similar to a mongoose or an elongated squirrel and sporting black bandit markings
around its eyes that are vaguely reminiscent of a raccoon? What does anyone know of
this incongruous, oft overlooked creature, whose comparable significance to more
exotic animals is virtually unknown? If you have watched the television channel ...

This tolerance to venom ensures that the meerkat has little competition for its diet and
further allows them to maintain a steady, plentiful supply. Due to the harsh, water
scarce deserts in which meerkats live, finding adequate water supplies is nearly
impossible and when present, water is dominated by larger animals that consider
meerkats to be a meal. Therefore, the meerkat must make use of available moisture
and obtains its requirements primarily through its diet.
It has been observed that a gang of meerkats will inhabit underground burrows
consisting of numerous entrance and exit holes, multiple sleeping and birthing
chambers, and having hundreds of feet of tunnels branching off in several
directions, which give them the ability to escape predators who invade their
homes. An average gang s burrow may have well over fifteen separate dens and it
should be noted that the number of areas provide them the opportunity to rotate
their use every three to four weeks. This rotation is a result of parasite (ticks, ants,
fleas) overload, making living conditions both unsafe and unsanitary. Once the
parasitic levels have reached a reasonable level, meerkats will re inhabit the dens.
At least one chamber within the burrow is reserved as a bathroom, or litter box,
serving as a safe place for relief of bodily functions. It is extremely unsafe for a
meerkat to exit the burrow at night to relieve themselves, so having a
Dracula Gender Roles
The role of women in Western literature is constantly changing. In the span of less
than a hundred years, it has evolved and changed into a completely different set of
ideals and expectations for a female lead. In the repressed Victorian era of Bram
Stoker s Dracula, women are kept in the roles of the idealized proper womanor
portrayed as sex crazed temptresses. In Italo Calvino s If on a Winter s Night a
Traveler, women are given a more dynamic role one that drives the narrative, as
opposed to reacting to it. There are many key ideas that can be found in both the
novels in how these women affect the storyline and what their roles are. Foremost is
the concept of female sexuality and how it is portrayed in these two books. In this
respect, we come to understand how gender... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Finally, we see the effect the female role has on the male characters and how the
lead women affect the narrative. This paper will explore how the roles of women are
portrayed in these two vastly different novels and how the narrative is affected by
them.
Though sexuality is a popular subject when studying Dracula, it is in fact the lack of
any explicit sexual scenes that makes it stand out. Mina, the main heroine of the
book, is the example of a proper woman; she is industrious, nurturing, and pure.
Though she is engaged to Jonathan for the entirety of the novel, never do they display
any sort of truly intimate moments on page. The sexual content instead comes from
the instances of violence and vampirism. The first such scene comes from Jonathan
Harker s encounter with the vampire sisters in Dracula s castle. Harker writes, There
was a deliberate voluptuousness that was both thrilling and repulsive...I could hear

Recently Kreider and colleagues studied the effect of a specific exercise program in
overweight woman with a VLCKD or normal carbohydrate content diet [17], but only
few papers that focus specifically on the influence of VLCKD on sports performance
have been published, and with conflicting results: showing benefits [18,19], no effect

The present study set out to investigate if a VLCKD could be useful for athletes,
especially for those engaged in sports involving weight categories where weight loss
without negative changes in the body composition (i.e. loss of muscle mass) and
performance is often needed.
To the best of our knowledge no previous study has

Infidelity
Infidelity is when a married person cheats on their spouse by having some type of
sexual relations with someone other than their spouse. There are tons of names for it
such as: affair, adultery, fling, flirtation, liaison, or involvement. In America
approximately 30 60% of all married individuals will engage in infidelity at some
point of their marriage (Facts and Statistics Paragraph 1). Infidelity is almost never
discovered, even if it lasts for months or years. Infidelity strains marriages and could
be detrimental to families.

referred to as the other woman or home wrecker even if the woman had no clue

In several religions it is frowned upon to have more than one spouse, or to cheat.
The christian faith is extremely against adultery. Thou shalt not commit adultery

How Does Jefferson Form A Strong Central Government
Yes, I think Thomas Jefferson wanted to see America form a strong central
government because even though he was in France, he still went out of his way to
write to people about the things going on in America, for example, Shays Rebellion.
So, he must have cared about America and wanted it to have a strong central
government. According to Jefferson, the colonies had been chaotic. He wrote, The
British have so long hired their newspapers to repeat every form of lies about our
being in anarchy, that the world has at length believed them, and we have beloved
them ourselves (Jefferson). So, the colonies had been chaotic. I think that Jefferson
worries that his new form of government might fail, so he tells people they are
overreacting about the rebellion so they would stop fighting. Jefferson writes, Our

Transhumanism In Eugenics
In Francis Galton s Eugenics: Its Definition, Scope, and Aims the purpose of
eugenics is to improve the human race. Eugenicists view the undesirable qualities in
a population as aspects of humanity that can be improved upon and developed
through the careful regulation of breeding within a society. If the breeding of
specific traits were to be controlled, the best possible offspring would be produced.
The desire to improve the humanraceis a theme also found in Nick Bostrom s
Transhumanist Values and The Transhumanist FAQ. The purpose of transhumanism
is to enhance humans through the use of technology and other means.

This is accomplished through the sterilization of those who are considered inferior. If
only superior humans breed, the rising generations of people will continue to
improve, resulting in the improvement of the society as a whole. The determination
of an individual s worth leaves too much room for opinion, resulting in an increased
risk that eugenics will be abused by those with racials biases. Transhumanists view
the purpose of transhumanism as being the enhancement of the human race
through highly regulated research/clinical trials and equal opportunity for all
races and classes of people to have access to the technology being used. The careful
control of technological advances and the focus on all classes and types of people
leaves very little room for the ideology to be abused by those with any kind of
racial biases. Both eugenics and transhumanism want to improve the human race in
one way or another, but they vary in the execution of their ideals. Eugenicists
scarcely acknowledged that their ideology could be misused and did not provide
safeguards in case it were to be misused. Transhumanists fully acknowledge the
risks involved with their ideology and carefully designed their ideology so as to have
preventive measures in place in case it were to

Another key benefit to NOC Ltd of using an overseas agent is that the company
gets the advantage of their extensive knowledge of NOC Ltd s target market.
However, there are risks associated with the use of agents as a method of entering
an overseas market such as conflicts of interest addressed by the agency theory
which is cited in Crum et al (2005, p16). Some agents might follow their own
strategies for example, by representing NOC Ltd s competitors. Another downfall of
using overseas agents is that NOC Ltd may lose control over its marketing and brand
image if the agent is not willing to build the company s brand. Houston (2005) goes
further to suggest trust issues as another risk therefore, meaning that it could be
difficult for Gemma to ensure that the foreign partner, in this case the agent, will
uphold its end of the agreement. As a result of entering an overseas market, NOC
Ltd might encounter foreign exchange risks as all their orders are in Euros
therefore, resulting in NOC Ltd s products being more expensive in the foreign
currency. This could mean that Gemma will not be able to negotiate payment
currency in the Eurozone as she has to exchange the Euros to Sterling. And if she is
losing money when exchanging, then her company could likely lose profits. Due to
the economic downturn , a lot of customers will not be able to buy too
Which Metal Out Of Galvanized Iron
The problem of the experiment is: which metal out of galvanized iron, copper,
stainless steel, and steel will rust the least in acetic acid? The hypothesis is: If
Copper is placed in the acetic acid then it will be the material that loses the least
mass when mass lost is related to material submerged. The independent variable is
what type of metal is being used. The dependent variable is the percent of mass
lost while submerged in the vinegar. The controls include the amount of vinegar
per sample, the same person pouring the vinegar, the same scale taking
measurements, and the same amount of time submerged in the vinegar. The
standard of comparison is how much the mild steel corrodes because that is the
metal currently used to make the gas tanks at gas stations. The experiment
designed to test this starts with cleaning of five different samples of copper, iron,
mild steel, and stainless steel. After that, the mass of each sample is measured
using an electronic balance. Then, each sample is put in a cup, and submerged in
200 mL of vinegar. They are then left in the vinegar for about 24 hours. Next, after
the 24 hour period, each sample is then taken out, cleaned, and measured again. This
process is repeated one more time. After the experiment is done, you calculate the
percent of each sample lost by day, and find the average of those. Then, the metals
are compared by percent of mass lost to find the most corrosion resistant. Materials...

The projected EBITDA for BT Yellow Pages in the U.K. and Yellow Pages USA

a bridge loan. This bridge loan where Yell Finance B.V. would be the beneficier had
to be refinanced through a high yield offering on the UK and US markets. The 950
million is at different levels directly invested in the operating companies.

The DTAP Vaccine
Today, vaccines are very common when needing to treat a disease. A vaccine is a
substance used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity
against one or more several diseases. A vaccine is acted as an antigen without
inducing the disease. The most known vaccines are the DTaP vaccine, polio vaccine,
MMR vaccine, and the influenza vaccine. The DTP vaccine, or newly known as the
DTaP vaccine, is the grouping of three specific diseases, diphtheria, pertussis, and
tetanus. Each of these serious diseases are caused by bacteria. Diphtheria and
pertussis are spread from person to person while tetanus enters the body through cuts
and wounds. Diphtheria causes a thick blockage in the back of the throat which can
lead to breath loss,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pertussis, or the whooping cough, causes coughing that is bad enough where it can
be insanely difficult for infants to eat and drink. Pertussis can lead to pneumonia,
jerking seizures, brain damage, and death if it serious enough. Immunization should
be started between six weeks and two months of age, and should be completed
before the seventh birthday. The primary series for children under age 7 is four
doses of 0.5mL. There are many side effects that the DPT vaccine could cause, such
as swelling, itching, warmth, redness, rash, fever, drowsiness, vomiting, depression
and anorexia. The risk rate for developing these major side effects are small and very
limited.
The poliovirus was very common to have until the polio vaccine was introduced in
1955. Polio or poliomyelitis is a disease caused by a virus that affects the intestines
and or the throat. Polio can and is usually spread through personal contact or
through saliva. Although statistics say that one percent that have developed polio
had no symptoms, polio could cause paralysis where you wouldn t be able to move
body parts such as your arms and legs which could allow you to be disabled for
Science in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Rappaccini s Daughter
The short story Rappaccini s Daughter can be seen as a love story about young man
determined to be with his beloved, despite the fact that she is poisonous. However,
when examining the text, underlying theme about science arise. During the time in
which this piece was written, science was rapidly evolving. All biological sciences
must first go through a taxonomic stage since their data must be put in order before
they can be employed in research on an analytical level (Shryock 291) Rappaccini s
Daughter by Nathaniel Hawthorneuses Rappaccini s unrelenting pursuit of knowledge

These discoveries helped shape the views of 18th century American society. Parallels
about religion can also be made by comparing Rappaccini s poisonous garden and the
Garden of Eden. The story contains many biblical allegories which hinted to the
viewpoint of that time. The most significant Parallel that can be made between the
story and 18th century American Society is the use of science to explain the rank of
creatures in nature. The Mismeasure of Man by Stephen Jay Gould is an important
tool in critiquing the misuse of science to justify social inequalities such as racism
and sexism. In assessing the impact of science upon the 18th century views of race
we must first recognize the cultural milieu of a society whose leaders and
intellectuals did not doubt the propriety of racial ranking with Indians below
Whites and Blacks below every one (Gould 63) Rappaccini uses the excuse that the
world is dangerous to justify why her made his daughter poisonous. He fails to
realize that he is actually hurting his daughter Beatrice. Rappaccini myopically
ignores the needs of others, imposing his sense of things on the people who fall
under his control.(Wachtel) His selfish actions shows that he has a lack of morals. A
second parallel that can be made is Rappaccini s desire to have dominion over nature
Dr. Rappaccini is extremely talented botanist; he has
Huckleberry Finn And Tom s Relationship
In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, the protagonist Huck
goes on many adventures along the Mississippi River. Huck and his friend Tom
Sawyer differ vastly in the choices they make throughout the book. Huck differs
from Tom by how he is a follower, his views on slavery and his realistic way of
thinking. Tom is always in charge of their adventures. He is the leader of their gang,
Tom Sawyers Gang. The gang was Toms idea, Now we ll start this band of robbers
and call it Tom Sawyer s Gang. Everybody that wants to join has got to take an oath,
and write his name in blood. (Twain 7). Tom makes the rules and expects others to
follow him in his crazy plans. The boys in the gang all tell Tom how they love his
oath, they compliment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Huck starts to see Jim as a human being and they become friends. Jim wants to get
to Cairo to become free and Huck is helping him get there. Jim is excited at the
thought of finally being free, Jim won t ever forgit you, Huck; you s de bes fren
Jim s ever had; en you s de ONLY fren ole Jim s got now. (Twain 90). Huck was
debating if he should really help Jim get to Cairo. He runs into two men and has
the chance to turn Jim in, he chooses not to. Huck is conflicted about what he
should do. He starts to view Jim as a friend, Git up and hump yourself, Jim! There
ain t a minute to lose. They re after us! (Twain 63). Jim is wanted for killing Huck,
so Huck went to Shore to find out if Jim was still being hunted. He comes running
back because they are indeed after Jim. He now considers Jim a person, a friend.
Unlike Huck, Tom was raised to believe that slavery is right, he does not know any
better. Once Jim is free Tom confessed and she set him free in her will. (Twain
290). Tom is cruel and created an elaborate plan to set free a man who was already
free. Tom was selfish and withheld this information because he did not care about
Jim and he wanted an adventure. Huck sees Jim as a friend and Tom sees Jim as a
Salt River Labs Case Study Essay
Salt River Labs
Q What is the major problem at SRL? Who are the people involved and how do they
contribute to the problem?
1. There are many problems that are apparent at Salt River Labs. The first major
problem is the purchasing process. There are way too many people involved in this
process. The current process involves series of five different people, or groups of
people. This starts with the Chemists who send requisitions to supervisors, who send
the requisition to Suzie Martinez, who sends the same requisition to Barbara, who
finally sends the requisition to Arthur who makes the final decision about the
requisition. Once a decision to approve or disapprove the requisition has been made,
the requisition gets sent to Paul ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of these trust/hostility issues are caused by a lack of communication among the
entire organization. Communication is the root of many of the problems at this
company. Equipment breakage is a very pertinent problem as well. Equipment
continuously breaks and SRL does not have the money or the resources necessary
to fix the broken machines. The machine that has been fixed already has not been
picked up from Hewlett Packard because of the fact that SRL does not have the
money to do so. So, SRL has a fixed machine that they cannot use because of the debt
the company is undergoing. Another problem that is apparent at Salt River Labs is
the inventory situation. Ever since SRL moved from their old building to the new
building, the inventory has been left in the boxes they were transferred in. Nothing
has been unloaded which is leading to the problem of not knowing exactly what is
in house. This inventory issue affects Arthur s opinion on the chemists because he
doesn t think that the chemists thoroughly search for the materials they need
before ordering more. All of the problems listed above are causing late orders, and
if orders are late or even non existent, then the company will eventually go out of
business. Lastly, Arthur needs to provide a financial analysis that explains where
money has been coming from and going to for the past 5 years. He has to have
some type of budget plan, and if he is unable to provide an accurate one for the
company then
Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Trial
The Triangle Waist Factory Owner s TrialWe all know that the Triangle Waist
Factory fire was a terrible event, but that s not what I m here to talk to you about. I
am here to discuss the trial that followed this travesty. There were two men who
worked together that owned the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory: Max Blanck and
Isaac Harris. After the fire, that killed so many worker, it was brought to the
public s attention that there were many safety hazards in that now famous
building, and that there were many more buildings just like the Asch building.
Some of these hazards were narrow hallways and stairwells. The doors opened into
the room, which caused problems during the fire as girls pushed so close together
and were pressing so hard against these doors, that it took minutes (that they didn t
have to lose) to open them. The fire hose wasn t even connected to a water source!
After the public and the families of the victims heard about the poor conditions
their loved ones worked in, they demanded justice. The jury had reached their
verdict on December 27, 1911. I want you to keep in mind that this fire happened
on March 25th of that year . But put that aside the two men were found not guilty.
Even though the jury was presented with evidence such as; the workers had started
to revolt prior to the tragedy and the two men had hired other woman to come in
and fight their employees to keep the revolt under wraps. Not to mention the can of
oil that blocked to 9th floor door, trapping many girls inside. Not long after the trial
were the two owners were sent away as innocent, they disappeared and thought it was
best to lay low... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gilbert Keith Chesterton Analysis
Mr. Gilbert Keith Chesterton was a fascinating man. He weighed nearly 290
pounds. He was so large that P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud sound as
a sound like G. K. Chesterton falling on a sheet of tin. Chesterton once remarked to
George Bernard Shaw, his friendly enemy in many a debate and exchanged essay,
To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England. Shaw responded,
To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it. Chesterton originally
attended the Slade School of Art to become an illustrator, but he dropped out
before receiving a degree. He certainly enjoyed drawing and did some excellent
work in that area, but he soon turned his pen instead to another purpose: writing.
Chesterton met with great success as a writer. He published well over a hundred
works, including novels, articles, essays, short stories, and even published debates.
Despite these successes, however, critics attack him ferociously and regularly. He
has been described as annoying, tiresome, and simply a con artist looking for a
laugh. His favorite rhetorical devices have been ridiculed as flippancy and insincere
showmanship. If so many people dislike his writing so vehemently, it must be for
good reason. But perhaps there is less a problem with Chesterton s writing, and more
a problem with the people reading it. Perhaps they do not like it because they do not
understand it or refuse to understand it. The nature of Chesterton himself and that of
the arguments against
Soy Essay
Soy sauce is used as an important flavouring in cooking and has been integrated into
the traditional cuisines of many East and Southeast Asian cultures. Despite their
rather similar appearance, soy sauce made in different cultures and regions are
different in taste, consistency, saltiness and fragrance.
Soy sauce is generally a salty, brown liquid made from fermented soybeans mixed
with roasted grain such as wheat, barley and rice, added with a mold called
Aspergillus oryzae and salt. Its consistency can range from very thin to very thick.
Flavours too can vary by types and have very subtle differences. There are many
types of soy sauce, all of which are salty and earthy tasting brownish liquids used to
season food during cooking or at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These amino acids and peptides contribute a full, robust flavour and act as a flavour
potentiator. The moromi enzymes also convert the wheat starch into sugars which is
important to the finished soy sauce because it subdues the saltiness. Yeasts act upon a
portion of these sugars to form alcohols. Ethanol is the predominant of these and
imparts many flavouring and aromatic characteristics. It also indicates the presence of
other aromatic compounds produced by fermentation. The amount of ethanol varies
depending on the types of soy sauce. For example, the lower level of wheat in tamari
soy sauce do not contribute enough starch to create ethanol so its flavour is entirely
different.
Some of the amino acids and sugar undergo Maillard reaction during fermentation
to develop a reddish brown colour. The flavour will be adversely affected if too
many of these flavour contributing components are changed into colouring
substances. The colour of finished sauce will darken undesirably if it is exposed to
oxygen. Opened containers of soy sauce should be sealed and refrigerated to protect
both flavour and colour. Finished soy sauce with a pH of about 4.8 and around 1.0%
lactic acid is considered as a good soy sauce

  • 2. Osteoporosis And Treatment Of Osteoporosis Essay Osteoporosis is one of the most prevalent bone diseases worldwide (Mulcahy, et al.). It is characterised as a disease which leads to the loss of bone mass due to bone deterioration, therefore leading to bones becoming more brittle and fragile (U.S. Department of Health and Human services, 2004). Physiologically, boneis constantly re modelled by concerted and coordinated interactions between osteoclasts, type of cells that are involved in resorption of the bones, and osteoblasts, which ensure bone formation and mineralization. Osteoporosisresults from an imbalance between bone deposition and resorption (Castiglioni, et al., 2013) Osteoporosis affects millions of people worldwide, but the groups that are at highest risks include elderly and post menopausal women (International Osteoporosis Foundation, 2015). As osteoporosis is associated with aging, it becomes a major health concern as the aging population will double over the next decade (Age UK, 2016). Due to that fact, there has been an increase in an interest in development of the preventive strategies for decreasing the incidence of osteoporosis. One of most important strategies is dietary intervention, as there are nutritious factors that play a key role in formation and development of the bones. Majority of the previous studies were concentrated on relationship between calcium, vitamin D and density of the bones. But recent studies have mentioned the importance of Magnesium, chemical element which plays a key role in

The rule was passed on from father to son, making the dynasty ruled by a family. Xia Dynasty The Xia dynasty was the first historically known dynasty. It ruled China from 2200 1750 B.C.E. by Yu and his son (Judge and Langdon, 2016).The Xia dynasty controlled/ruled many of the cities and towns along side of China s yellow river. They created many palaces, tombs and paved the roads of China. The Xia dynasty is responsible for creating the early bronze tools and weapons. Through scholarly arguments it is believed that the Xia dynasty was a mythological dynasty that never existed. They ruled China up until they were overthrown by the Shang dynasty (Judge and Langdon, 2016). Shang Dynasty The Shang dynasty were the first to perfect the use of the Xia bronze tools and weapons. His strict laws were so extreme and alienated the people of China, that he eventually became very paranoid. • 4. Difference Between Fe-For-Service Plan And Managed Care Plan There are various differences and similarities that exist between the principles of how the Fee for Service plan works and how the Managed Care plan works. To start with, with the Fee for Service, a patient can go see any physician that he or she wants. However, under the managed care plan, one is only allowed to see the physicians who have an affiliation with the plan (Feldstein 110). This comes with a strong financial incentive. The next difference that exists between the two is that one can see any specialist whenever you like, even though some practitioners prefer when referrals are done by the general practitioners. For the managed careplan, a patient is referred to a specialist only if the primary physician determines it as being very
  • 5. My Antonia Symbolism Analysis During My Antonia there are many symbols which are used to provide messages to the reader about not only the story but about life. One of the biggest symbols used during the course of the story is the Nebraska prairie. Cather uses the prairie to show the reader both how good and tough life can be. For example, during the summer, the prairieis full of wonderful things like prairie dogs playing and it can provide the food needed to survive as a pioneer in the west. In the story, Jim says that July came on with that breathless, brilliant heat which makes the plains of Kansas and Nebraska the best corn country in the world. They were big and warm and full of light, like the sun shining on brown pools in the wood . This shows that Cather wanted you to think of Antonia of someone who you could admire and who you would want to be friends with right away. In addition to be nice, she was a hard worker, willing to do whatever was necessary for her and her family to survive following her father s death. She was willing to stop going to school to work on the farm, she said I can work like mans now. My mother can t say no more how Ambrosch do all and nobody to help him. I can work as much as him. School is all right for little boys. I help make this land one good farm. Antonia was never afraid to go to work to make her life better which is what a lot of immigrants did when they came to America. Antonia shows throughout the story that hard work was needed to live and have a good life. I think Cather admired how hard people like Antonia worked and wanted that to show in the story. Another way that Cather he admired her was that she never shows Antonia complaining about her hard life, she just accepts it and does what she need to be a great mother. Jim says as I confronted her, the changes grew less apparent to me, her identity stronger. She was there, in the full vigor of her personality, battered but not diminished . This shows that no matter how tough life was to her, she got through it and became a very
  • 6. Discourse On Livy NiccolГІ Machiavelli is very well known as an important and influential Italian historian, politician, philosopher, and writer during the Renaissance. His book, Discourses on Livy, is a discussion regarding the classical history of early Ancient Rome, although it uses contemporary political examples and strays far away from the subject of Rome at times. It is presented as a series of lessons on how a republic should be started and structured. Most importantly, it constantly brings up the idea of corruptionand corrupt people, which is not surprising because we all desire things and search for the simplest way to obtain it, even though the easiest way to obtain something might be a corrupt way. When Machiavelli uses the term corrupt or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seems more difficult to change the regime. This is the source of corruption. When one class of society strives to better themselves and succeed in doing so, it causes corruption. Machiavelli spends a chunk of Discourses on Livy discussing how states are corrupt and the citizens within them are corrupt as well. The first important point he makes when it comes to corruption is that men do not know how to be entirely good or bad. He claims, they concluded that men clearly do not know how to be honourably bad or perfectly good, and that when an evil deed contains in itself some grandeur or some generosity, they do not know how to carry it out (Machiavelli 82). Thus, Machiavelli is elaborating on the theme of good and bad and how even those who are good and are not considered corrupt still make bad decisions sometimes. Generally, men decide on a middle course, instead of choosing a completely good or bad course. This decision is seen as most hazardous because it is hard to claim someone is good if they do not make entirely good decisions and it is hard to claim someone is bad if they do not make entirely bad decisions. The second important point Machiavelli makes is that men are easily corrupted and even those who are good can easily turn bad. He states, It should also be noted, in this matter or the decemvirate, how easily men may be corrupted and how they may transform themselves and give

  • 9. I Have Shaped My Personal Values Personal Values Personal values reflect what we think is important in life. Such as, the decisions we make and the actions we take. Being seventeen years old, I value the respect from younger people. I, however, have various influences in my life, which have shaped my values. For example, 4 H has taught me how to be a leader. My mother, with her hard work, has taught me how to work for what I long to have. High schoolhas taught me to be superior than my peers and not to fall prey to peer pressure. In addition, work has demonstrated me to do what I love. As a result, I found what I am passionate about. After all, these influences have shown me how to be successful and achieve my goals. Firstly, 4 H has taught me what leadershipreally means. As a result of acquiring the knowledge of what leadership means, I became a better leader. Generally speaking, everybody can attain leadership skills. However, putting the skills in action creates good leaders. Everyday smaller children look up to each and every one of us. Wether we are at the grocery store or at the football game, little kids and even our own peers respect us. For example, during the fair when showing, the judge will often tell the younger children to watch and learn from the seniors. Furthermore, having people look up to me whether it is to my knowledge or not affects my values because I aspire to be the best role model for someone else. Consequently, knowing I have someone watching me, causes me to contemplate before I make any decision or action. For instance, in many social media posts, most people rant about a subject, before long they apologize for their foul language. In my perspective, the apology does not make the post more acceptable. Social media is filled with countless negative posts, but a single human being can make the slightest difference in someone s life simply by acting positive. Being a positive person online additionally to in public, can influence the younger generations to do the same. My mother has also made a huge impact on my personal values in various diverse forms. For example, as a child I had to ask for permission before I could watch television or even get a snack. When my friends talk about all the television shows
  • 10. Analysis Of Hadot s The Inner Citadel Life is finite; when something is started, it must be finished. Similar to how life begins when we are an embryo and end when it s our time. Our time could be today, tomorrow or even the near distant future. We start as nothing and end as nothing and thus the time we have to make our mark on the world is limited. Humans are finite beings, not only in time but in the amount freedom and the degree of control we have as well. In Hadot s The Inner Citadel, he discusses his view on freedom, but more specifically, how free we truly are. He brings up the analogy that, ...the self becomes aware of itself as an island of freedom in the midst of a great sea of necessity, (Hadot 112) which is trying to convey that throughout our lives, yes we do have freedom but freedom is usually swallowed by the things that we need to do. For example, if there was an essay due next week and you haven t started yet, you may choose to put it off until a later date or you could start now so you have more time to write a solid essay and thus could get a better grade. Furthermore, you are also an Outstanding Scholar that would like to uphold the marks you ve had previously to maintain the scholarship you have received and as well you re the firstborn and are expected to do well to be a good example to your younger siblings. In this example, you clearly do have a choice, to leave the essay till a bit later, however, the circumstances surrounding why you need to do well most likely would impede on you
  • 11. Essay about The Cat and his Master The Cat and his Master Puss in Boots is a strange little folk tale in which a talking cat performs deeds of heroism in order to further his master s lot in life. It is saddled with a moral which implies that through hard work and ingenuity one can rise above his station. This hardly seems to be the case, however, when we look at the contributions made by the miller s youngest son and master of the puss himself. Furthermore, the symbolism peppered throughout the tale would seem to indicate that there is more going on. The tale begins with the death of a miller, who leaves his sole possessions to his three sons. The youngest of the sons winds up with nothing but what he believes to be a lowly cat, which he is convinced will be good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cat in turn becomes the son and the main protagonist of our story and the only character to go through a transformation. When viewed at this angle, the moral retains its truth. The deeper story here seems to be a part coming of age, part underdog overcoming the odds tale. The story begins with a miller. In a pre industrial society, the miller would have had an important position, akin to a woodcutter. The miller was responsible for grinding corn into meal, essential in making bread and other staples. His death represents a lack of a provider in his sons lives. The two elder sons are granted an inheritance that will allow them to make a living, but not the youngest, who gets the cat. The cat, a possession of the miller, also finds himself without a provider, and hatches a plan to prevent the son from eating him. In the course of the story, the son becomes as reliant on the cat as he was on his father. It is at this point that the cat replaces the son as a formal story element. In many respects, the cat and the son are two halves of the same character, their fates interlocked with one another. This is a deliberate device which reflects the medieval superstition that cats were somehow linked to their masters, as Robert Darnton suggests in his article The Great Cat Massacre. The cat asks for some boots to protect his feet from the thorny undergrowth. Putting boots on the cat reinforces the superstition and creates an

Covey Summary of Main Points in 7 Habits of Highly Effective People This book on 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was written in 1989, is still a great book today. Stephen R. Covey talked about great habits that we need to encrypt in our daily living to be effective at work, home and as a person. He explained how the habits is based on developing our independence. The first habit he talked about was being proactive in our lives. To be proactive we need to have self awareness of our actions. We need to take responsibility for the choices we make and take responsible for those choices. Second habit is to begin with the end in mind. This is where you develop a vision of what you want to become and our conscience will decide what values will guide you and everything that you do should have an end. Third habit is to put first things first. This is where we need to have discipline to our day so we make sure that we focus on what is the most important to the least important. This is where our will power will come into effect so we don t act on our desires or impulses. Habit four is the win win thought process. To be successful you need to look at the problem between you and the other party and approach it with a mutual solution. To do this it requires understanding and being understood. This way everyone can be satisfied with the outcome of the solution. The fifth habit was, seek first to understand them to understood. One important skill that we need to use is our listening

USCSOA5/2/2013 ARCH 470 Charles Lagreco Guillermo Heuze Final Paper: How will 3D printing affect the process and quality of constructing housing in the 21st Century? The role of Technology in the 21st century cannot be over looked. It has completely transformed the way we live and the way we interact with each other. It has enabled the formation of numerous possibilities that were not previously imaginable. 3D printing has evolved so much in the past 5 years where we can now virtually make any shape using this technology. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is something that evolution in technology can change, like anything in our society, as time progresses these technologies become more and more open to the public. (Picture A) The History Throughout history we can see that housing has followed certain trends. These trends are most heavily influenced by the technology available to the public at that time. As can be seen throughout history, living conditions in general have improved, as there are more access to resources and building technologies. Although the world we live in has changed greatly, the basic type of shelter needed for everyday life and the resources needed to construct them has changed very little. This is why we can see a lot of parallels between the ways people live throughout history. However, the biggest change is in the way we construct buildings and especially housing. History has taught us that as time goes by, technology increases, making it easier for us to build structures. For example the Egyptians relied solely on Adobe (sun dried mud bricks) and slave labor for construction. Then came the development of hydraulic lime mortar, the Treadwell cranes (which is a wooden, human powered hoisting and lowering device) as well as the start of domes and arches, as structural components in architecture. Followed by the Middle Ages, which saw a huge emphasis on the construction of massive public buildings such as Cathedrals, Churches, Fortifications

Majority of the kids that were relinquished, because of absence of income in a family. The few shelters existing in the Victorian culture were awful to the point that numerous kids decided to live on their own in the city. Orphans living on their own in the city would most likely make them prone to becoming criminals. There was an abundance of things that could happen to the children of the village. Generally, adoption was unlikely. This is because there was no proper way to go about adopting a child in Victorian times. The living and working conditions of the poor were so unsanitary and crowded that diseases such as typhus and tuberculosis often spread unchecked, sending many of their victims to the grave Czarnik, Living Conditions . However, children were often considered orphans if they had one surviving parent, had been abandoned by their family, or were forced out into the world due to overcrowding at home. Throughout the years there has always been several cases of children being abandoned by their parent s, because many parents either were not ready to raise a child, the child was born with some type of deficiency, or many children became orphans because both of their parents or caregivers may have passed away. Individuals have the ability make conscious decisions to control their expressive language to manipulate the perceived interpretations of others (Burgoon, Callister, Hunsaker, 445). As people acquire language, they develop sensitivity to the Gricean maxims of conversation. The first of these maxims is Quantity I , or the failure to provide enough information. The second of these maxims is Quantity II , or the provision of too much or redundant information. The third of these maxims is Quality , or veracity (Siegal, Iozzi, and Surian, 2009). These three Gricean maxims of conversation alone encompass the prevalence of various forms of lying in the context of human communication. The significance of lying is that it can change various outcomes that negatively impact various circumstances. In the realm of health care, patients may lieto health professionals for a number of reasons including to acquire unnecessary or excessive medications, to avoid embarrassment or judgment, and to reduce expensive medical charges that may accumulate over time. No matter how well intentioned the doctor faced with a patient in need of help may be, it is he who has the advantage resulting from the knowledge he has (the truth) and his skills: a disproportion occurs between these two parties (Tanasiewicz, 2005, 16). • 20. Legal Documents And Law Codes Question 1: Since the arrival of the first ancient civilizations, there has been a necessary desire for order. For culture to grow, for life to persist, for such a dynamic element as humanity to live in harmony with itself, order is required. This in mind, it s no wonder that so many ancient texts describing legal documents and law codes have been unearthed throughout the ages. Shaped by history, the ongoing battle for ordered living resulted in the creation of law, a method of keeping peace. Indeed, order is the precise reason for the development of law. As societies developed, as agriculture expanded, populations would increase. To combat this, government was the natural course. Reading from Traditions and Encounters, the text states this idea in several circumstances: With their expanding populations, the cities also needed to prevent conflicts between urban residents from escalating into serious civic disorder. Moreover, because agriculture was crucial to the welfare of urban residents, the cities all became city states...and oversaw affairs in surrounding agricultural regions (p.27), The need to recruit, train, equip, maintain, and deploy military forces created another demand for recognized authority (p.28). From all of this, a clear view is given of the overall need for a governing body. Society, as it gets to be ever more developed, meets an increased need for ordered agriculture to feed these increasing populations, ordered military to fight opposing nations and

Why did Dr. Burnham want to talk to us? I started to wonder, was it because we weren t in bed by 10:30 always? Was it because we forgot to do something? To give you a chance to practice proofreading, we have left seven errors (three spelling errors, two punctuation errors, and two grammatical errors) in the text of this handout. See if you can spot them! Is editing the same thing as proofreading? Although many people use the terms interchangeably, editing and proofreading are two different stages of the revision process. Both demand close and careful reading, but they focus on different aspects of the writing and employ different techniques. Some tips that apply to both editing and proofreading п‚· Get some distance from the text! It s hard to edit or proofread a paper that you ve just finished ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When you read silently or too quickly, you may skip over errors or make unconscious corrections. п‚· Separate the text into individual sentences. This is another technique to help you to read every sentence carefully. Simply press the return key after every period so that every line begins a new sentence. Then read each sentence separately, looking for grammar, punctuation, or spelling errors. If you re working with a printed copy, try using an opaque object like a ruler or a piece of paper to isolate the line you re working on. п‚· Circle every punctuation mark. This forces you to look at each one. As you circle, ask yourself if the punctuation is correct. п‚· Read the paper backwards. This technique is helpful for checking spelling. Start with the last word on the last page and work your way back to the beginning, reading each word separately. Because content, punctuation, and grammar won t make any sense, your focus will be entirely on the spelling of each word. You can also read backwards sentence by sentence to check grammar; this will help you avoid becoming distracted by content issues. п‚· Proofreading is a learning process. According to the article Chrysler was facing bankruptcy and liquidation in 2009. Also in 2009 Chrysler received $4 billion in government money to be bailed out. In 2009 Sergio Marchionne was also appointed as Chryslers CEO. When Marchionne took over he had a new approach to bring Chryslerout of bankruptcy. • 25. Pretrial Release Essay In our text and in the article by Freiburger and Hilinski (2010) they both mention pretrial release. Pretrial release is defined as: The practice of conditionally releasing criminal defendants prior to trial without formal posting of bail. Those who participate in pretrial release generally must have stable residence and employment as well as other ties to the community that suggest they are likely to appear for trial (Gabbidon Greene, 2013, p.327). Before this week readings I knew a little bit about pretrial release, but I did not know that there is three categories of pretrial release. The three different types of pretrial release which are nonfinancial, financial, and emergency (Gabbidon Greene, 2013). Nonfinancial is basically where a person is release without having to put up money. This is usually done with a sign form that the person is going to show up to court on their assigned date and this is usually released by law enforcement (Gabbidon Greene, 2013). The second one, financial has four types of bond which are surety, deposit, full cash, and property bond (Gabbidon Greene, 2013). I really didn t know about the different types of bond... Gabbidon and Greene (2013) data from 1990 2004 showed that 68% of whites is likely to get release than African American at 62% and Hispanics at 55% (p.146). This shows that maybe race plays a factor, but its not a great big difference. There has been studies that stated that they could not found where race played in the bail amount (Freiburger Hilinski, 2010). Gabbidon Greene (2013) also found that 74% of females are likely to received pretrial release than males at 60% (p. 146). There has been little study done on this, but it would be interesting to see more data on this

At his fullest height, he barely reaches 12 , the average of an adult male in his species. Due to the harsh, water scarce deserts in which meerkats live, finding adequate water supplies is nearly impossible and when present, water is dominated by larger animals that consider meerkats to be a meal. Therefore, the meerkat must make use of available moisture and obtains its requirements primarily through its diet. It has been observed that a gang of meerkats will inhabit underground burrows consisting of numerous entrance and exit holes, multiple sleeping and birthing chambers, and having hundreds of feet of tunnels branching off in several directions, which give them the ability to escape predators who invade their homes. An average gang s burrow may have well over fifteen separate dens and it should be noted that the number of areas provide them the opportunity to rotate their use every three to four weeks. This rotation is a result of parasite (ticks, ants, fleas) overload, making living conditions both unsafe and unsanitary. Once the parasitic levels have reached a reasonable level, meerkats will re inhabit the dens. At least one chamber within the burrow is reserved as a bathroom, or litter box, serving as a safe place for relief of bodily functions. It is extremely unsafe for a meerkat to exit the burrow at night to relieve themselves, so having a

The hypothesis is: If Copper is placed in the acetic acid then it will be the material that loses the least mass when mass lost is related to material submerged. The independent variable is what type of metal is being used. The dependent variable is the percent of mass lost while submerged in the vinegar. The controls include the amount of vinegar per sample, the same person pouring the vinegar, the same scale taking measurements, and the same amount of time submerged in the vinegar. Science in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Rappaccini s Daughter The short story Rappaccini s Daughter can be seen as a love story about young man determined to be with his beloved, despite the fact that she is poisonous. However, when examining the text, underlying theme about science arise. During the time in which this piece was written, science was rapidly evolving. All biological sciences must first go through a taxonomic stage since their data must be put in order before they can be employed in research on an analytical level (Shryock 291) Rappaccini s Daughter by Nathaniel Hawthorneuses Rappaccini s unrelenting pursuit of knowledge that resulted in the tragic loss of his daughter; to show the productive and destructive powers of scientific discovery, which evolved American society... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These discoveries helped shape the views of 18th century American society. Parallels about religion can also be made by comparing Rappaccini s poisonous garden and the Garden of Eden. The story contains many biblical allegories which hinted to the viewpoint of that time. The most significant Parallel that can be made between the story and 18th century American Society is the use of science to explain the rank of creatures in nature. The Mismeasure of Man by Stephen Jay Gould is an important tool in critiquing the misuse of science to justify social inequalities such as racism and sexism. In assessing the impact of science upon the 18th century views of race we must first recognize the cultural milieu of a society whose leaders and intellectuals did not doubt the propriety of racial ranking with Indians below Whites and Blacks below every one (Gould 63) Rappaccini uses the excuse that the world is dangerous to justify why her made his daughter poisonous. He fails to realize that he is actually hurting his daughter Beatrice. Rappaccini myopically ignores the needs of others, imposing his sense of things on the people who fall under his control.(Wachtel) His selfish actions shows that he has a lack of morals. A second parallel that can be made is Rappaccini s desire to have dominion over nature Dr. Rappaccini is extremely talented botanist; he has

  • 42. Salt River Labs Case Study Essay Salt River Labs Q What is the major problem at SRL? Who are the people involved and how do they contribute to the problem? 1. There are many problems that are apparent at Salt River Labs. The first major problem is the purchasing process. There are way too many people involved in this process. The current process involves series of five different people, or groups of people. This starts with the Chemists who send requisitions to supervisors, who send the requisition to Suzie Martinez, who sends the same requisition to Barbara, who finally sends the requisition to Arthur who makes the final decision about the requisition. Once a decision to approve or disapprove the requisition has been made, the requisition gets sent to Paul ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of these trust/hostility issues are caused by a lack of communication among the entire organization. Communication is the root of many of the problems at this company. Equipment breakage is a very pertinent problem as well. Equipment continuously breaks and SRL does not have the money or the resources necessary to fix the broken machines. The machine that has been fixed already has not been picked up from Hewlett Packard because of the fact that SRL does not have the money to do so. So, SRL has a fixed machine that they cannot use because of the debt the company is undergoing. Another problem that is apparent at Salt River Labs is the inventory situation. Ever since SRL moved from their old building to the new building, the inventory has been left in the boxes they were transferred in. Nothing has been unloaded which is leading to the problem of not knowing exactly what is in house. This inventory issue affects Arthur s opinion on the chemists because he doesn t think that the chemists thoroughly search for the materials they need before ordering more. All of the problems listed above are causing late orders, and if orders are late or even non existent, then the company will eventually go out of business. Lastly, Arthur needs to provide a financial analysis that explains where money has been coming from and going to for the past 5 years. He has to have some type of budget plan, and if he is unable to provide an accurate one for the company then

Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Trial The Triangle Waist Factory Owner s TrialWe all know that the Triangle Waist Factory fire was a terrible event, but that s not what I m here to talk to you about. I am here to discuss the trial that followed this travesty. There were two men who worked together that owned the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory: Max Blanck and Isaac Harris. After the fire, that killed so many worker, it was brought to the public s attention that there were many safety hazards in that now famous building, and that there were many more buildings just like the Asch building. Some of these hazards were narrow hallways and stairwells. The doors opened into the room, which caused problems during the fire as girls pushed so close together and were pressing so hard against these doors, that it took minutes (that they didn t have to lose) to open them. The fire hose wasn t even connected to a water source! After the public and the families of the victims heard about the poor conditions their loved ones worked in, they demanded justice. The jury had reached their verdict on December 27, 1911. I want you to keep in mind that this fire happened on March 25th of that year . But put that aside the two men were found not guilty. Even though the jury was presented with evidence such as; the workers had started to revolt prior to the tragedy and the two men had hired other woman to come in and fight their employees to keep the revolt under wraps. Not to mention the can of oil that blocked to 9th floor door, trapping many girls inside. • 44. Gilbert Keith Chesterton Analysis Mr. Gilbert Keith Chesterton was a fascinating man. He weighed nearly 290 pounds. He was so large that P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud sound as a sound like G. K. Chesterton falling on a sheet of tin. Chesterton once remarked to George Bernard Shaw, his friendly enemy in many a debate and exchanged essay, To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England. Shaw responded, To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it. Chesterton originally attended the Slade School of Art to become an illustrator, but he dropped out before receiving a degree. He certainly enjoyed drawing and did some excellent work in that area, but he soon turned his pen instead to another purpose: writing. Chesterton met with great success as a writer. He published well over a hundred works, including novels, articles, essays, short stories, and even published debates. Despite these successes, however, critics attack him ferociously and regularly. He has been described as annoying, tiresome, and simply a con artist looking for a laugh. His favorite rhetorical devices have been ridiculed as flippancy and insincere showmanship. If so many people dislike his writing so vehemently, it must be for good reason. But perhaps there is less a problem with Chesterton s writing, and more a problem with the people reading it. Perhaps they do not like it because they do not understand it or refuse to understand it. The nature of Chesterton himself and that of the arguments against
  • 45. Soy Essay Soy sauce is used as an important flavouring in cooking and has been integrated into the traditional cuisines of many East and Southeast Asian cultures. Despite their rather similar appearance, soy sauce made in different cultures and regions are different in taste, consistency, saltiness and fragrance. Soy sauce is generally a salty, brown liquid made from fermented soybeans mixed with roasted grain such as wheat, barley and rice, added with a mold called Aspergillus oryzae and salt. Its consistency can range from very thin to very thick. Flavours too can vary by types and have very subtle differences. There are many types of soy sauce, all of which are salty and earthy tasting brownish liquids used to season food during cooking or at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These amino acids and peptides contribute a full, robust flavour and act as a flavour potentiator. The moromi enzymes also convert the wheat starch into sugars which is important to the finished soy sauce because it subdues the saltiness. Yeasts act upon a portion of these sugars to form alcohols. Ethanol is the predominant of these and imparts many flavouring and aromatic characteristics. It also indicates the presence of other aromatic compounds produced by fermentation. The amount of ethanol varies depending on the types of soy sauce. For example, the lower level of wheat in tamari soy sauce do not contribute enough starch to create ethanol so its flavour is entirely different. Some of the amino acids and sugar undergo Maillard reaction during fermentation to develop a reddish brown colour. The flavour will be adversely affected if too many of these flavour contributing components are changed into colouring substances. The colour of finished sauce will darken undesirably if it is exposed to oxygen. Opened containers of soy sauce should be sealed and refrigerated to protect both flavour and colour. Finished soy sauce with a pH of about 4.8 and around 1.0% lactic acid is considered as a good soy sauce
