Animal Welfare Act
It is human nature to survive at any cost, even if it is at the expense of animals we may typically
see in our everyday lives. The use of animals in pharmacological education and research is nothing
new and dates way back to the ancient times. The amount of data that has been acquired from these
animal testings has allowed for modern medicine to improve and opened new gateways for further
development of newer medication, but at what cost?
Going way back in time to the ancient times, Greek scientists and physicians used animals to satisfy
their curiosity of the human body. They examined different areas of the body ranging from nerves
to muscles in an attempt to better comprehend what was going on functionally. One Greek
physician by the name ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of animals in lab work is a controversial practice that is met with strong opposition from
various animal welfare groups and just people in general. The argument of whether it is ethical or
morally right to continue this practice has been going on for a long time and it seems we are now
at a place where alternatives to animal testing are available. Scientists have been able to reconstruct
testing methods that don t revolve around the use of animals. Such alternatives that are currently
being looked into, or have already begun being implemented, include in vitro cell cultures,
organoids, organs on chips, human on a chip, noninvasive imaging, and microdosing. These
methods would all allow for the reduction of animal use in laboratories or the flat out replacement
of them. In vitro cell culture is the utilization of animal or plant cells for the purpose of culturing
them in an artificial environment. This artificial environment would provide many of the necessary
components for normal cell function such as nutrients and growth factors. Another benefit to this
innovation is the ease of manipulation, molecularly, and the cost and time benefit it would have
over animal models of similar nature. This new innovation would allow for studies in
pharmaceutical screenings and development as well as the production of various biological
compounds such as therapeutic proteins. This method is

Implications Of Wildlife In Wildlife
Wildlife
Introduction
Purpose
I would like to briefly summarize why wildlife is important and I m examining this because it s
truly important that we as people recognize that wildlife plays a big role in how we live.
Problem
Nature is losing its wildlife! The loss can be attributed to two main causes. The first cause is human
interaction. Humans are having too much interference in nature. According to the World Wide
Federation (2017), the forests, swamps, plains, and lakes are being destroyed to make room for
roads, pipelines, and industrial development. These areas serve as the natural habitat for our wildlife.
Without a home, these animals are dying off at record numbers and becoming extinct.
According to Morris (2003), Humans are also killing the animals for food and this choice also
destroys the natural habitat. Many humans are making the choice to catch fish faster than the
oceans can restock. When people choose to destroy these animal s homes, it has a negative effect on
the food chain. When one sees the impact of human interaction on the natural habitat, society must
realize that they have a responsibility to do something because our future as a species on this planet
is in jeopardy.
Procedures/Methodology
The raw data that was collected was 20 random people. You can find the collection on the next
page. I used the stratified sampling method. The survey question was Do you think wildlife is
important? and people answered either yes or no.

Essay about How The Canadian Economy Is De
The Canadian economy is determined largely by the United States economy threw the North
American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The North
American Free Trade Agreement was an agreement that came into effect on January 1,1995 which
involves Mexico, Canada and the United States of America. This agreementis said to produce 1
billion to 3 billion dollar gains in each country. NAFTA ensures that a certain amount of goods

Since Canada does a lot of exporting of raw material these materials use to have such a high tariff
and were not being as traded to their potential now they are being traded frequently to the U.S
because of the FTA.
The FTA has allowed Canada and the U.S to reduce trade obstacles by standardizing their
product standards, testing and approval processes. The FTA now states that Canada can t restrict
oil and natural gas exports to the United States therefore Canada can t charge Americans higher
prices in Canada. The FTA has excluded some industries from the agreement these industries are
Agricultural, Cultural Industries, Social Insurance programs and Regional development
programs. Since there are so many rules and regulations under the FTA a binational panel will
settle the disputes. The panel settles these disputes by determine whether each country s
regulators are applying to their trade laws. Canada or the U.S can end the FTA by giving six
months notice. Since U.S exports to Canada only account for a small 1.3 per cent of its GDP and
Canadian exports to the U.S account for 20 per cent of its GDP, Canada can t afford to lose this
agreement while the end of this agreement would hardly even effect the U.S.
The NAFTA set up free trade over North America. Since Canada already had free trade with the

A Critical Analysis Of The Theory Of Endosymbiosis And It...
A critical analysis of the Theory of Endosymbiosis and it s supporting evidence
Abstract
Introduction
The endosymbiotic theory is an evolutionary theory explaining the origin of Eukaryotic cells from
Prokaryotic, and is at present; the most widely accepted evolutionary theory of the Eukaryotic cell.
The theory explains the origins of mitochondria and chloroplasts and their double membranes,
suggesting that chloroplasts and mitochondria represent formerly free living bacteria that were
taken into a cell as an endosymbiont. Molecular evidence suggests that mitochondria developed
from proteobacteria and chloroplasts from cyanobacteria. It is thought that the Prokaryotes may
have entered the host cell as a parasite or source of nutrient for the host, however avoided digestion.
The primitive chloroplast may have provided the host cell with crucial nutrients, and the primitive
mitochondrion may have aided the exploitation of oxygen for the extraction of energy. In return the
host cell offered a protected environment for the Prokaryotes to live in. This was the beginning of a
symbiotic relationship between the primitive chloroplast and mitochondria, and the Eukaryotic cell.
The theory was ridiculed for years due its controversial nature, however in 1967 Lynn Margulis, a
biologist from Boston University, developed the modern Serial Endosymbiosis Theory.
Primary Endosymbiosis vs. Secondary Endosymbiosis
Primary endosymbiosis involves the engulfment of a bacterium by another

The Walking Dead and the Social Contract
The award winning television show, The Walking Dead, is used as a tool to explain the
complexities of the human behavior when faced with the need for natural survival. The show
depicts the world after a zombie apocalypse. Society and government as we know it had been torn
down. The show is an example of what lengths people would do to survive. Thomas Hobbes, John
Locke, and Jean Jacques Rousseau are some political philosophers who explain their versions of
how political societies form and how societies stayed together when they follow their versions of
the laws of nature. Thomas Hobbes ideas of the social contract and the state of nature ... Show more

Rick s wife and son, and other survivors are living outside the city in a small camp. Rick s best
friend, Shane, is the unofficial sovereign. He steps into power because he is the most strong and
able; he is the natural leader. The others in camp follow Shane s judgement and rule. When Rick
gets to camp, it is apparent who leads. When other s get into an argument they go to Shane for the
final judgement call. Clearly they are all following the sovereign in benefit for the greater good. I
believe a true Hobbesian society is what has formed. The group has surrendered freedom and
submitted to the impromptu authority; exchanging their freedom for protection.
The other philosophers, Jean Jacques Rousseau and Locke have both explained the concept of
giving up certain rights in return for the protections and benefits that come along with societies.
The reasoning behind The Walking Dead being Hobbesian over a Lockean or Rousseauian deals
with the idea of rebellion. In a Hobbesian society, the idea of an uprising is unjust. One may not
revolt against the government because even the concept of an overthrow imbalances the scales and
causes a civil unrest

Examples Of Academic Dishonesty In The Modern Era
Academic Dishonesty in the Modern Era Since the widespread of technology took place, the
amount of academic dishonesty has increased dramatically. The convenience and accessibility of
technology nowadays is very easy to access, therefore it is much easier for students to cheat. But,
the outcome and long term of cheatingwill cause more harm and frustration than learning. Academic
Dishonestyhas become an epidemic in schools and in society in general because students use
modern technology for inappropriate measures.
Some students may cheat because they have poor study skills that keep them from keeping up with
the material. Therefore, the students result to cheating as a temporary answer and solution to their
problem. In many cases students result to cheating to make it through the subject they struggle on.
It will only hurt the student and make them know less of the learning material. So to solve their
studying problem many perform academic dishonesty without thinking of the consequences.
More students may cheat because they feel they need to have good grades to compare to others. ...

Introduction to psychological warfare
Never underestimate the effects of psychology in wars, it can make or break both the ally and
opponent. As a person who lived in a country that lived by the propaganda every day for almost
thirty years, I only catch glimpse of it when I was young. Nowadays, it is like another battle not in
field, but in the media.
According to the Dictionary, the definition of psychological warfare is, The use of propaganda,
threats, and other psychological techniques to mislead, intimidate, demoralize, or otherwise
influence the thinking or behavior of an opponent.
It is misbelieved that the psychological warfare is a modern invention, but in fact it goes back to
ancient times. It was used in several wars against Greeks, Babylon, and Athens.
There three categories of psychological warfare operations according to Daniel Lerner, in his
book. They are white propaganda, grey propaganda and black propaganda. The white one is
truthful and not strongly biased, where the source of information is acknowledged. While grey
containing no information that can be proven wrong; the source is not identified. Finally black one
which is essentially deceitful, information given in the product is accredited to a

Harry S. Truman For Defeating Japan s Barbaric Regime And...
When faced with the prospect of killing a few to save many, it may be difficult to discern
whether doing so would be moral or not. However, when Harry S. Truman was forced to decide
whether or not to drop the atomic bombs on Japan, the moral choice was clear: dropping the
bombs was the most viable option available that would end World War II, minimize casualties on
both sides of the war, and ensure American victory. Every other option available to Truman
would have resulted in a much greater loss for the people of both Japan and the United States.
While dropping atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was undeniably an
atrocity, which resulted in over 300,000 casualties, this gruesome attack was the most ethical
option available to Harry S. Truman for defeating Japan s barbaric regime and ending the
bloodiest war in human history. The successful air raids conducted by the United States that have
been described as an alternative to dropping atomic bombs on Japan were not only far more
destructive, they may not have ended the war at all. By 1945, most of Japan s major military and
industrial bases had been destroyed: nearly all major cities had also been wiped out. Japan had little
left to defend; however, the military and state officials refused to surrender. Unfortunately, a
majority of Japanese manufacturing was conducted in small workshops and private homes, which
led to targeted attacks that wiped out mostly civilian populations. The American Airforce

Comparing Nurses Practitioners And Clinical Nurse Roles
Comparing and Contrasting Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist Roles The role of
the advanced practice nurse has evolved immensely over the years, so why not take a stand and
continue your education to become one of the four advanced practice nurses? Transitioning to an
advanced practice nurse role requires a master s degree and some experience as a registered nurse
in order to have the background to propel forward in this career. Advanced practice nurses are
comprised of nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, nurse anesthetists, and nurse midwives
who are often primary care providers and provide comprehensive care to patients. Out of the four
advanced practice nurseroles, nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists have both been
providing care to patients since the 1960s. They both have many similarities and differences, and
strengths and limitations of practicing in these specialized roles.
Description of Each Role
Nurse Practitioner Nurse practitioners have been practicing and providing care to patients for
decades. They are often at the forefront of providing care alongside physicians. They are quickly
becoming the primary provider choice for many patients in a world where there is a shortage of
good and accessible primary care providers. As health care providers, they have prescriptive
authority to diagnose, treat, and evaluate patients. Besides being health care providers, nurse
practitioners are mentors, educators, administrators and

The Tragic Hero Of Euripides Medea

Period 5
Tragic Hero in Euripides Medea
Aristotle cites that, A man cannot become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall.
Consistent to Aristotle s characteristics of a tragic hero, the tragic hero must fit the requirements
of being noble and employed in a high standing position of society. There should be a tragic flaw
that ultimately leads to his downfall, and those reading the play must feel pity for this character as
he goes through necessary changes as a result of his flaw. Aristotle illustrates a tragic heroas one
who falls from grace into a state of acute misery. In Euripides Medea, the tragic hero is Jason, a
man of noble birth who falls from being honored and respected due to a flaw in his character,
that flaw being adultery. His adultery leads to terrible outcomes, the deaths of many people, and
his loss of all the things he loved. His character is an excellent example of the heroes who rise
high, then ultimately fail due to their own nature. By the end of the play he realizes his errors
and becomes negligible. Some may argue that Medea is the tragic hero in the play, but this
reasoning is flawed because Medea has no single flaw, she has exuded a sadistic nature from the
start, from her actions involving the Golden Fleece to her killing her own offspring. Jason suffers
from the fatal flaw of adultery that ultimately destines him for ruin, making it is clear that he serves
as the tragic hero in Euripides

A Lesson Plan For A Teacher
Every teacher is responsible for planning what will be taught to their students every week. Each
day the students will have certain activities and work that all comes together under the same
category. This is what is called lesson plans, and they are a very important part of keeping the
class together and also help the teacher stay organized. There are many different ways in which one
can set up their lessonplans, but it is very important to have them done the correct way rather
than the wrong way to get the full benefit from them. I was able to find two different lesson plans
that represent the correct way and also the wrong way. The correct one I was able to find on
reading.org and the other one I found on esltreasures.com. Each one was created for the
beneficial knowledge of the student, however they are very different and only one will help
them obtain that knowledge. The first lesson plan that I found on esltreasures.com was a very
simple lesson plan, which appears to be more of an agenda with different times with each
activity. The lesson is supposed to be directed for a class of junior beginners and is meant to
cover a grammar lesson along with spelling and vocabulary. However everything is done in
unrealistic time frames. All the activities are between 5 to 20 minutes each. Since the subject being
taught is grammar and vocabulary, there is an assignment for a spelling game, but it is only for 10
minutes. There is also a grammar point explanation that is only 2 3

The Closet Scene in the Shakespearian play Hamlet was viewed in three different films. The
scene done by Mel Gibson was the best adaptation because it was filmed exactly how it was

audience when Hamlet was shown being aggressive toward his mother, with the strong presence
of the Oedipus complex. The setting in this version was true to the text unlike Hawke s version
which was very modern as they were in an older setting which the text was in, an older time, when
royalty strongly ruled different counties, and they strongly believed in religion. However, in the
adaptation by Ethan Hawke, the setting appeared to be in a city. This version had cut

Example Of Opponent Process Theory
Opponent process theory: Fred s Behavior
Fred is working in a job that is stressful, he enjoys drinking a few beers after work, but, there are
different states of emotions that occur during these events. We will look at Fred s behaviors,
feelings and the different conditions that is experienced, through a theory termed Opponent process.
Fred s Addiction
Fred drinking a beer activates a positive A state (pleasure). Automatic arousal of the opponent B
state (withdrawal) causes Fred s initial A state (pleasure) to diminish as he continues to drinkbeer.
When Fred stops drinking, the A state declines quickly, and he experiences the B state (withdrawal).
When an unconditioned stimulus, (reinforcer), is repeatedly presented to human three major
affective phenomena are often observed. First, affective or hedonic contrast. Second, frequent
repetition of the unconditioned stimulus, (reinforcer), gives rise to affective habituation (tolerance).
Finally, after frequent repetition of these stimuli, (reinforcer) a withdrawal emerges directly
following stimulus termination (Solomon, 1980).

Comparing Poems Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori
Dulce et Decorum est Pro Patria Mori in latin means it is sweet and fitting to die for your

the time believed that this was a patriotic duty for young men to go to war and risk their lives for
their country. During this period, there were no televisions or newspapers that were able to
uncover what was unraveling on the battlefield and trench, to warn these young patriotic men of
the horrors that would await for them. Owen and Horace were once one of these young heroic men
that experienced the physical, emotional and, mental pain of war. They used their story to uncover
the truth about war and the cruelty they will experience if they do decide to join the waste of war....

Language is much more than a method of communication. Permeated within it are traditions,
customs, and legacies of one s culture. The identity of an entire population is in the distinct

barriers affect a multitude of immigrant populations to different degrees. This, in turn, causes many
of them to abandon not only their native tongue but a piece of their ethnic identity, as well. In

Every afternoon, my mother would take my siblings and I down to the community park. It was
a tradition of sorts. The leaves on the trees were brown, only days past Halloween. I sat under
the dappled afternoon sun and played in the sand. On this particular day, however, a young girl
approached me. Confused, I offered her a friendly smile but was, instead, greeted by the sand she
kicked in my direction. Once my mother took notice of this, she came forward and placed a hand
over the young girl s leg without physically touching her. Stop, she said. With this one word, the
girl ran off. After a minute or so, an older woman approached my mother and I, with a string of
curse words. It was the parent of the girl from earlier. Her husband attempted

School Bullying And High Schools
All across the United States children in schools are going through an unescapable problem
presented as bullying found in elementary, middle, and high schools. This issue can affect
everyone, those who are bullied, those who bully, and those who witness bullying. School
bullying can be taken in two different ways direct and indirect; including name calling, teasing,
malicious rumor spreading, and physical violence. Once thought of a normal part of growing up
is now recognized as a serious problem that must be stop at an early age. Among all age groups
children between 7 and 12 most often are the main target. Sadly most every kid experiences bullying
and as children mature the types of bullies tends to change into more physical aggression. In
order to reduce bullying knowing the signs such as torn cloths, missing possessions, requests for
extra lunch money, dropping grades, and refusing to go to school can all be indications that a
child is being bullied. To prevent children from being harmed by school bullying, professional
educators and parents have a duty to understand the complexity of bullying in U.S. schools and
take action. Besides disrupting classroom activities, school bullying generally harms children s
ability to learn at school, and has been shown to contribute to truancy and dropout rates. As I look
at resources pertaining to this issue the only way to improve bullying is to successfully use a
method to form a bullying prevention program. The planning model that

Military tactics, he new his enemies very well and was quick to adopt their latest technologies and
used spies to find out about them. His fighters of about 80,000 were well trained and used

The Anatomy Of Corporate Fraud Essay
Article Critique #1 The first article researched was The Anatomy of Corporate Fraud: A
comparative Analysis of High Profile American and European Corporate Scandals. The abstract
discusses the analysis conducted on the three major American accounting scandals; Enron,
WorldCom, and HealthSouth, and compares to the three major European accounting scandals;
Parmalat, Royal Ahold, and Vivendi Universal. Bahram Soltani (2014), also discusses within the
abstract the different areas reviewed regarding why the accounting scandals occurred; ethical
climate, tone at the top, bubble economy and market control, fraudulent financial reporting,
accountability, control, auditing, governance, and management compensation (p. 251). Between
2001 and 2003 there were several corporate accounting scandals that occurred that took the world
by surprise. A lot of investors lost a lot of money and several employees lost their jobs. These
accounting scandals occurred due to management misconduct, fraud, and scams that occurred within
these companies. Within the United States, the big cases typically viewed are the Enron,
WorldCom, and HealthSouth cases, however, it is forgotten that Europe experienced a similar
situation with Parmalat, Royal Ahold, and Vivendi Universal. Soltani (2014), discusses the
importance of understanding the motivation and causes of financial corporate scandals. Soltani

Sarah Vowell s Assassination
Assassination Vacation is a book by Sarah Vowell published in 2005, which she traveled around

Incredibles. The Last book published in 2015 called, Lafayette in the Somewhat United States.
The intended audience for the book is the type of people who like humor and history, but like to
hear the story on both sides. I m pretty sure the author s purpose of the book is to make history
not as sad or tragic as it is, she was trying to make history fun and funny, such as on page 29 she
wrote, The confederate were shrewd to take advantage of Booth s fame. There is a lesson here for
the terrorist of the world: if they really want to get ahead, they should put less energy into training

(pg. 30). Clearly, Lincoln was putting a law that Booth did not like, like tyrants set rules that are
unreasonable to most. Vowell put many facts, which make a good non historical fiction but she puts
many options, too. For example, Garfield s assassin Charles J. Guiteau, she examined the motives

The Field Of Forensic Linguistics
The following article takes a brief look at the field of Forensic Linguistics. In simple terms we
could define forensic linguistics as a field that acts as an interface between language, the law and
crime where the law includes a variety of judicial matters, legislation and law enforcement
(Coulthard Johnson, 2010: 199). Therefore, a forensic linguist may note findings resulting from
research conducted within a variety of disciplines including, for example, theory of grammar,
discourse analysis, conversation analysis and language and memory studies (Tiersma, 1999: 147).
For the most part, crimes require that there is an offender or offenders who commit a type of
forbidden act (actus reus) while under a specific mental state (mens rea)... Show more content on

L Austin (1962) and John Searle (1969), have developed certain speech act theories in which it has
been noted how utterances can perform certain functions that essentially go beyond the task of
communicating information. These acts include those such as questioning, lying, promising,
threatening and agreeing, and many of them can be illegal in certain circumstances.
While many speech acts involve the essential factor of actor intent , many are intrinsically
characterised by the effect on the receiver. While all language crimes then deal with the actor s
intent (e.g. an individual must have the intent to solicit a crime to be guilty of solicitation) many
also deal with the perlocutionary effect a speech act that doesn t make the receiver feel threatened
is generally not a threat, regardless of the intent (Coulthard Johnson, 2010: 376).
Aside from the act of threatening another individual, language crimes can take a variety of forms
including bribery, extortion or solicitation (in terms of soliciting things such as illicit sex or
murder) (Shuy, 2005: 3). However, the simple act of using offensive language can also be
regarded as a language crime and, indeed, such actions have been widely legislated against.
Prosecutions here however, are said to be rare often because people understand the hypocrisy
involved in prosecuting another for something that most of us engage in at some point (Taylor,
1995: 224). Vilification can also be regarded as a language crime

Similarities Between Ww1 And Russia
There are parallels between what was happening in Ireland and Russia during World War I that
spurred revolution in both of them. Both countries were generally unhappy with their government
and their involvement in the war. The war amplified the problems, like poverty in Russia and
England limiting Ireland s government, that already existed in both of those countries. Without the
negative impacts of World War Ion countries like Russiaand Ireland, there would have been less of
a call for revolution.
The social and political climate in Russia changed greatly during WWI. The main reason was
because the people began to dislike the imperial family. Tzar Nicholas II put himself in charge of

The Quality Of Life In Urban And Rural Life
Urban areas are the human settlement with high population and well established infrastructure.
People who live in urban areas are mostly involved in commerce and trading activities. However,
urban areas are not confined to cities only, but also includes the suburbs areas. On the other side,
rural areas are region situated on the outskirts. There are open space and natural vegetation.
Residents practice agriculture and animal husbandry and use it as a source of income. Many
people and families raise questions on the benefits that one acquires by choosing to live in either
urban or rural settlement (Lucas 31). Quality of life is essential when comparing both urban and
rural life. Even though both locations are best to live, it is crucial to evaluate the similarity and
differences between two places. Various factors such as the diversity, employment opportunities,
health, and capacity to make broad choices influence one decision while comparing urban and
rural life. Even though life in both urban and rural areas offers great benefits, there are some
drawbacks in both lives. Both positive and negative factors determine the quality of life in urban
centers. To start with, people living in cities have a variety of choices to make regarding their
everyday lives. For example, residents in urban areas have access to the various types of food
which results in improved health. Additionally, different types of culture exist in cities. People

Unnatural Motifs In Macbeth
Shakespeare uses unnatural motifs to show how Macbeth and everyone around him cannot escape

At the beginning of the play, Macbeth meets the Weird Sisters and starts his chain of unnatural

meet the weird sisters who confusingly hail him as Thane of Glamis (1.3.51), Thane of Cawdor
(1.3.52), and as the king hereafter (1.3.53). These confusing actions disturb Macbeth because he
sees it as three weird women hailing him as king hereafter after waiting for him outside of a

which he is responded to by an apparition who says that Macbeth must Beware Macduff! Beware
the Thane of Fife! (4.1.81 82) and another apparition who says for none of woman born shall
harm Macbeth. (4.1.91 92). This is highly unnatural because the witches have summoned
apparitions to tell Macbeth his destiny, and that is very unnerving knowing that these apparitions
know these things, as well as the witches knowing how to summon apparitions. Through this, a
dark mood is created as to what thing not born of woman would kill Macbeth and lead him to his

scene because this unnatural circumstance is foreboding of Macbeth s great destiny coming after

Disadvantages Of Biomedical Engineering
The human body is made up of a series of organs, each one serving its own unique and
irreplaceable purpose within a system. For the most part these organs function to the fullest of their
abilities; however, sometimes things go wrong, and organs, for whatever reason, stop working.
When a vital organ fails it begins a decline in all other organs and can eventually lead to complete
organ failure. This is because when an organ fails, there is nothing else able to imitate its unique
structure and function. In the face of this, scientists and medical specialists alike have begun to
develop methods to alleviate the consequences of organ failure. Some of these methods result from
medicine, geneticists, and mechanics, but truly, the most prospective of all the methods is via
biomedical engineering. Within biomedical engineering, through a method called Bioprinting,
scientists can now create new organs out of the patient s own cells, and have been doing so since
1999 (11). It works like this. First you start with a blueprint outlining the desired structure of the
organ(22). Then you move onto the 3d printingmachine, such as a Regonovo capable of running
the inkjet sub method of 3d printing(15). This type of 3d printing is designed to build the desired
object, or in this case organ, by laying down the material layer by layer and allowing it to fuse
together along the way, allowing it to maintain structural integrity. Within a bioprinter there is

in their situation which led them to have a chance at redemption. In both stories, the protagonist
has a chance to redeem themselves and in the end they use the chance to make it a reality. In A
Retrieved Reformation , this idea was shown with this quote, Hello, Ben! said Jimmy, still with
his strange smile, You re here at last, are you? Let s go. I don t care now. From that statement,
one would conclude how Jimmy was sure he would be going to jail with the police officer, Ben
Price, but Ben realized how Jimmy had acted. Roger from Thank You, M am , also redeemed
himself. One example would be when Mrs. Luella Bates sends Roger off, Because shoes got by
devilish ways will burn your feet. I got to get my rest now. But I wish you would behave yourself,
son, from here on in. She led him down the hall to the front door and opened it. Goodnight!
Behave yourself, boy! she said, looking out into the street. When Mrs. Luella Bates sends him off,
the reader can see the trust she sent him with and how she let Roger redeem

evidence, accomplishes actions, and assesses conclusions. Critical as used in the expression
critical thinking connotes the importance or centrality of the thinking to an issue, question or

many positive and useful uses of critical thinking, for example formulating a workable solution to
a complex personal problem, deliberating as a group about what course of action to take, or

reflective problem solving and thoughtful decision making using critical thinking one considers

characteristic of strong critical thinking associates critical thinking with the reflective aspect of
human reasoning. Those who would seek to improve our individual and collective capacity to

A Brief Note On The Diesel Engine Exhaust Gas Emissions...
ABSTRACT
Diesel engine exhaust gas emissions and particulate matters have been a serious environmental
problem for a long time. Many research have been made in order to reduce these emissions since
the usage of diesel engines came into large. Major emissions from the diesel exhaust are NOx,
SOx, CO and Particulate Matters. Amongst these SOx, CO and Particulate matters can be reduced
by using after treatment methods like Catalytic Reduction, etc. Unlike these NOx reduction is a

INTRODUCTION
Usage of diesel engine in automobiles is increasing worldwide because of its high fuel efficiency. As
the usage increases, the emissions from the exhaust gases also increases which affects the
atmosphere, thereby causing environmental issues such as global warming, smog and even acid
rain. These emissions are mainly due to non stoichiometric combustion, dissociation of Nitrogen
and impurities in the fuel and air mixture. Major emissions include Oxides of Nitrogen, Oxides of
Sulphur, unburnt Hydrocarbons, oxides of carbon and other carbon particles or soot. Significant
measures are taken by the automotive industries for several years to reduces the intensity of these
exhaust gases. There are two ways of reducing these exhaust gases are

Charles Schaeffer And Friedrich Nietzsche Essay
Introduction Born nearly 70 years apart from each other, Francis Schaeffer and Friedrich Nietzsche
were two very important figures in creating the modern philosophy. Two different men that studied
two different parts of philosophy. Because of their differences, most are unable to recognize their
many similarities. Each of the men had the things they studied, but the basis of their theories were
almost identical.
Nietzsche
One of the commendable influential philosophers in the history of ideas and a gifted stylist in his
native German, Friedrich Nietzsche undertook a radical re evaluation of established ideas and
critiqued moral values during his career. One of Nietzsche s primary studies was on the problem
of morality. However, he seems to contradict himself on the matter of values. Tansesi claims it is
because of the different definitions of value values in a descriptive sense as that which is thought to
be of value by an individual or by the members of a group, and values in a normative sense as
that which is objectively of value (652). Because of Nietzsche s committed denial of any moral
values, it would seem impossible to attribute him to him a commitment to the existence of any
values in the normative sense (652). In Thus Spake Zarathustra, he claims that to value is to create,
and that it is only through valuing that there is value. In the same section it is also claimed that
men did not discover values, nor were they given by a god; rather, human beings

Fast forward to about 500 years ago when the Spanish, the French, and the British first discovered
the new land and sent parties to explore it. But when they did they found many Native American
tribes. Some were treated fairly and made peace with, while others were slaughtered, sold into
slavery, and some even completely wiped out. In 1606, a joint stock company, known as the

Objective of Financial Reporting
Since the core objective of financial reporting is to provide useful information to report users for
making and reviewing resource allocation decisions (Deegan, 2012), it is of paramount importance
that these statements are faithfully represented and relevant. The absence of either characteristic
will cripple the decision making process.
Single Measurement Approach

However, Market values may be exposed to economic fluctuations which may cause assets
/liabilities to be under or over valued.
Mixed Measurement Approach
As such, many companies, like Woolsworths, prefer to use a mixed measurement approach as there
is flexibility to use more than a single measurement approach for different situations. Considering
the different informational needs of report users, certain measurements may not be suitable to
present information in a useful way (DvoЕ™ГЎkovГЎ, 2009). For example, when there is a need
for Woolsworth to predict the cash flows of an operation in a going concern business, cost
accounting or historical costs measurement would be most appropriate, since cash flows should not
deviate that much from previous years. However, when attempting to value prospective
investments, fair value measurement would be more appropriate because it is based on current
prices, and is therefore more accurate, which will help us make an informed decision on the future
prospects of the investment.
Having said that, a mixed measurement approach presents its own set of problems. Firstly, it can
lead to an additivity problem where there is an aggregation of data that is measured by different
approaches. Also, it undermines the comparability of financial

The Contributions Of Women In The American Civil War .
The Contributions of Women in the American Civil War
The Civil War was a divisive time in American history that tore the country in half for five long
years (1861 1865). After the election of Abraham Lincoln, the southern states seceded from the
north and formed the Confederate States of America because they saw their way of life being
threatened. They wanted to fight for their right to have slaves and for states to have more power.
The North (Union) fought because secession wasn t an option and they needed to preserve the
country as a union. Lincoln called on the men in the North to fight this war, but there was also an

needed to assist the Union in winning the war.
Another woman who was influential in providing the Union with medical support was nurse
Clara Barton. She was one of the main volunteers to first show up at the Washington clinic to
watch over injured Union officers. After her dad s passing, Barton left the city clinics to go
among the officers in the field. She was able to bring three wagons full of medical supplies to
the Union soldiers at the Battle of Antietam which is known as the bloodiest single day battle in
American History. Through that battle she gathered men and directed them to get water, prepare
food, and perform any first aid necessary for the injured soldiers. Many of the supplies and
transportation need for the Union was provided by Barton herself or donations she was able to get.
These are just two of the thousands of women nurses who aided the Union to succeed in critical
battles of the American Civil War.
Women were often underestimated which made them perfect to act as spies and gather information
that benefited the Union. One of the best was spy Elizabeth Van Lew, an important figure in

Macbeth felt guilty and culpable the prophecies that he believed in so much led him to ultimately

downfall, towards the end of the play, is caused by his guilty conscious and feelings of regret.
After Macbeth and Banquo return from defending the land, King Duncan expresses how
impressed he is with their bravery and loyalty. King. No more that Thane of Cawdor shall deceive

  • 2. Animal Welfare Act It is human nature to survive at any cost, even if it is at the expense of animals we may typically see in our everyday lives. The use of animals in pharmacological education and research is nothing new and dates way back to the ancient times. The amount of data that has been acquired from these animal testings has allowed for modern medicine to improve and opened new gateways for further development of newer medication, but at what cost? Going way back in time to the ancient times, Greek scientists and physicians used animals to satisfy their curiosity of the human body. They examined different areas of the body ranging from nerves to muscles in an attempt to better comprehend what was going on functionally. One Greek physician by the name ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of animals in lab work is a controversial practice that is met with strong opposition from various animal welfare groups and just people in general. The argument of whether it is ethical or morally right to continue this practice has been going on for a long time and it seems we are now at a place where alternatives to animal testing are available. Scientists have been able to reconstruct testing methods that don t revolve around the use of animals. Such alternatives that are currently being looked into, or have already begun being implemented, include in vitro cell cultures, organoids, organs on chips, human on a chip, noninvasive imaging, and microdosing. These methods would all allow for the reduction of animal use in laboratories or the flat out replacement of them. In vitro cell culture is the utilization of animal or plant cells for the purpose of culturing them in an artificial environment. This artificial environment would provide many of the necessary components for normal cell function such as nutrients and growth factors. Another benefit to this innovation is the ease of manipulation, molecularly, and the cost and time benefit it would have over animal models of similar nature. This new innovation would allow for studies in pharmaceutical screenings and development as well as the production of various biological compounds such as therapeutic proteins. This method is ... • 3. Implications Of Wildlife In Wildlife Wildlife Introduction Purpose I would like to briefly summarize why wildlife is important and I m examining this because it s truly important that we as people recognize that wildlife plays a big role in how we live. Problem Nature is losing its wildlife! The loss can be attributed to two main causes. The first cause is human interaction. Humans are having too much interference in nature. According to the World Wide Federation (2017), the forests, swamps, plains, and lakes are being destroyed to make room for roads, pipelines, and industrial development. These areas serve as the natural habitat for our wildlife. Without a home, these animals are dying off at record numbers and becoming extinct. According to Morris (2003), Humans are also killing the animals for food and this choice also destroys the natural habitat. Many humans are making the choice to catch fish faster than the oceans can restock. When people choose to destroy these animal s homes, it has a negative effect on the food chain. When one sees the impact of human interaction on the natural habitat, society must realize that they have a responsibility to do something because our future as a species on this planet is in jeopardy. Procedures/Methodology The raw data that was collected was 20 random people. You can find the collection on the next page. I used the stratified sampling method. The survey question was Do you think wildlife is important? and people answered either yes or no. Data and Results ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The North American Free Trade Agreement was an agreement that came into effect on January 1,1995 which involves Mexico, Canada and the United States of America. This agreementis said to produce 1 billion to 3 billion dollar gains in each country. NAFTA ensures that a certain amount of goods produced and traded between the three countries has to have a minimum percentageof its parts produced in North America. Since Canada does a lot of exporting of raw material these materials use to have such a high tariff and were not being as traded to their potential now they are being traded frequently to the U.S because of the FTA. The FTA has allowed Canada and the U.S to reduce trade obstacles by standardizing their product standards, testing and approval processes. The FTA now states that Canada can t restrict oil and natural gas exports to the United States therefore Canada can t charge Americans higher prices in Canada. The FTA has excluded some industries from the agreement these industries are Agricultural, Cultural Industries, Social Insurance programs and Regional development programs. Since there are so many rules and regulations under the FTA a binational panel will settle the disputes. The panel settles these disputes by determine whether each country s regulators are applying to their trade laws. Canada or the U.S can end the FTA by giving six months notice. Since U.S exports to Canada only account for a small 1.3 per cent of its GDP and Canadian exports to the U.S account for 20 per cent of its GDP, Canada can t afford to lose this agreement while the end of this agreement would hardly even effect the U.S. The NAFTA set up free trade over North America. • 5. A Critical Analysis Of The Theory Of Endosymbiosis And It... A critical analysis of the Theory of Endosymbiosis and it s supporting evidence Abstract Introduction The endosymbiotic theory is an evolutionary theory explaining the origin of Eukaryotic cells from Prokaryotic, and is at present; the most widely accepted evolutionary theory of the Eukaryotic cell. The theory explains the origins of mitochondria and chloroplasts and their double membranes, suggesting that chloroplasts and mitochondria represent formerly free living bacteria that were taken into a cell as an endosymbiont. Molecular evidence suggests that mitochondria developed from proteobacteria and chloroplasts from cyanobacteria. It is thought that the Prokaryotes may have entered the host cell as a parasite or source of nutrient for the host, however avoided digestion. The primitive chloroplast may have provided the host cell with crucial nutrients, and the primitive mitochondrion may have aided the exploitation of oxygen for the extraction of energy. In return the host cell offered a protected environment for the Prokaryotes to live in. This was the beginning of a symbiotic relationship between the primitive chloroplast and mitochondria, and the Eukaryotic cell. The theory was ridiculed for years due its controversial nature, however in 1967 Lynn Margulis, a biologist from Boston University, developed the modern Serial Endosymbiosis Theory. Primary Endosymbiosis vs. Secondary Endosymbiosis Primary endosymbiosis involves the engulfment of a bacterium by another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Social Contract In The Walking Dead Gabrielle Rodriguez Professor Dyer POLS 360 November 13, 2017 The Walking Dead and the Social Contract The award winning television show, The Walking Dead, is used as a tool to explain the complexities of the human behavior when faced with the need for natural survival. The show depicts the world after a zombie apocalypse. Society and government as we know it had been torn down. The show is an example of what lengths people would do to survive. Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, and Jean Jacques Rousseau are some political philosophers who explain their versions of how political societies form and how societies stayed together when they follow their versions of the laws of nature. Rick s best friend, Shane, is the unofficial sovereign. He steps into power because he is the most strong and able; he is the natural leader. The others in camp follow Shane s judgement and rule. When Rick gets to camp, it is apparent who leads. When other s get into an argument they go to Shane for the final judgement call. Clearly they are all following the sovereign in benefit for the greater good. I believe a true Hobbesian society is what has formed. The group has surrendered freedom and submitted to the impromptu authority; exchanging their freedom for protection. The other philosophers, Jean Jacques Rousseau and Locke have both explained the concept of giving up certain rights in return for the protections and benefits that come along with societies. The reasoning behind The Walking Dead being Hobbesian over a Lockean or Rousseauian deals with the idea of rebellion. In a Hobbesian society, the idea of an uprising is unjust. One may not revolt against the government because even the concept of an overthrow imbalances the scales and causes a civil unrest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The convenience and accessibility of technology nowadays is very easy to access, therefore it is much easier for students to cheat. But, the outcome and long term of cheatingwill cause more harm and frustration than learning. Academic Dishonestyhas become an epidemic in schools and in society in general because students use modern technology for inappropriate measures. The Early History Of Psychological Warfare Essay Table of Contents Introduction to psychological warfare2 The early history of psychological warfare 3 The beginning of modern psychological warfare 4 Later use of psychological warfare 5 Conclusion and points of view 7 References 8 Introduction to psychological warfare Never underestimate the effects of psychology in wars, it can make or break both the ally and opponent. As a person who lived in a country that lived by the propaganda every day for almost thirty years, I only catch glimpse of it when I was young. Nowadays, it is like another battle not in field, but in the media. According to the Dictionary, the definition of psychological warfare is, The use of propaganda, threats, and other psychological techniques to mislead, intimidate, demoralize, or otherwise influence the thinking or behavior of an opponent. It is misbelieved that the psychological warfare is a modern invention, but in fact it goes back to ancient times. It was used in several wars against Greeks, Babylon, and Athens. There three categories of psychological warfare operations according to Daniel Lerner, in his book. They are white propaganda, grey propaganda and black propaganda. The white one is truthful and not strongly biased, where the source of information is acknowledged. While grey containing no information that can be proven wrong; the source is not identified. • 9. Harry S. Truman For Defeating Japan s Barbaric Regime And... When faced with the prospect of killing a few to save many, it may be difficult to discern whether doing so would be moral or not. However, when Harry S. Truman was forced to decide whether or not to drop the atomic bombs on Japan, the moral choice was clear: dropping the bombs was the most viable option available that would end World War II, minimize casualties on both sides of the war, and ensure American victory. Every other option available to Truman would have resulted in a much greater loss for the people of both Japan and the United States. While dropping atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was undeniably an atrocity, which resulted in over 300,000 casualties, this gruesome attack was the most ethical option available to Harry S. Truman for defeating Japan s barbaric regime and ending the bloodiest war in human history. The successful air raids conducted by the United States that have been described as an alternative to dropping atomic bombs on Japan were not only far more destructive, they may not have ended the war at all. By 1945, most of Japan s major military and industrial bases had been destroyed: nearly all major cities had also been wiped out. Japan had little left to defend; however, the military and state officials refused to surrender. Unfortunately, a majority of Japanese manufacturing was conducted in small workshops and private homes, which led to targeted attacks that wiped out mostly civilian populations. • 16. The Tragic Hero Of Euripides Medea Nafisa Asad Honors English II Melie Period 5 Tragic Hero in Euripides Medea Aristotle cites that, A man cannot become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall. Consistent to Aristotle s characteristics of a tragic hero, the tragic hero must fit the requirements of being noble and employed in a high standing position of society. There should be a tragic flaw that ultimately leads to his downfall, and those reading the play must feel pity for this character as he goes through necessary changes as a result of his flaw. Aristotle illustrates a tragic heroas one who falls from grace into a state of acute misery. In Euripides Medea, the tragic hero is Jason, a man of noble birth who falls from being honored and respected due to a flaw in his character, that flaw being adultery. His adultery leads to terrible outcomes, the deaths of many people, and his loss of all the things he loved. His character is an excellent example of the heroes who rise high, then ultimately fail due to their own nature. By the end of the play he realizes his errors and becomes negligible. Some may argue that Medea is the tragic hero in the play, but this reasoning is flawed because Medea has no single flaw, she has exuded a sadistic nature from the start, from her actions involving the Golden Fleece to her killing her own offspring. Jason suffers from the fatal flaw of adultery that ultimately destines him for ruin, making it is clear that he serves as the tragic hero in Euripides ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each day the students will have certain activities and work that all comes together under the same category. This is what is called lesson plans, and they are a very important part of keeping the class together and also help the teacher stay organized. There are many different ways in which one can set up their lessonplans, but it is very important to have them done the correct way rather than the wrong way to get the full benefit from them. I was able to find two different lesson plans that represent the correct way and also the wrong way. The correct one I was able to find on reading.org and the other one I found on esltreasures.com. Each one was created for the beneficial knowledge of the student, however they are very different and only one will help them obtain that knowledge. The first lesson plan that I found on esltreasures.com was a very simple lesson plan, which appears to be more of an agenda with different times with each activity. The lesson is supposed to be directed for a class of junior beginners and is meant to cover a grammar lesson along with spelling and vocabulary. However everything is done in unrealistic time frames. All the activities are between 5 to 20 minutes each. Since the subject being taught is grammar and vocabulary, there is an assignment for a spelling game, but it is only for 10 minutes. These acts include those such as questioning, lying, promising, threatening and agreeing, and many of them can be illegal in certain circumstances. While many speech acts involve the essential factor of actor intent , many are intrinsically characterised by the effect on the receiver. While all language crimes then deal with the actor s intent (e.g. an individual must have the intent to solicit a crime to be guilty of solicitation) many also deal with the perlocutionary effect a speech act that doesn t make the receiver feel threatened is generally not a threat, regardless of the intent (Coulthard Johnson, 2010: 376). In hopes of securing a timely full reimbursement, the American government needed to ensure an Allied victory. While many American companies were keen to export items to Britain, few were willing to import. From the years 1914 1915 alone, a ВЈ256 million trade deficit between Britain and the U.S was accumulated. The increasing trade deficit and Allied lending forced Britain to borrow from the U.S. In 1915 a $500 million loan between Britain and private American banks, known as the Anglo French loan, was secured. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth meets the Weird Sisters and starts his chain of unnatural circumstances and his great destiny. As Macbeth and Banquo are walking back from battle, they meet the weird sisters who confusingly hail him as Thane of Glamis (1.3.51), Thane of Cawdor (1.3.52), and as the king hereafter (1.3.53). Beware the Thane of Fife! (4.1.81 82) and another apparition who says for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth. (4.1.91 92). This is highly unnatural because the witches have summoned apparitions to tell Macbeth his destiny, and that is very unnerving knowing that these apparitions know these things, as well as the witches knowing how to summon apparitions. Through this, a dark mood is created as to what thing not born of woman would kill Macbeth and lead him to his ultimate fate. Later on as Macbeth prepares for Macduff s siege on his castle, a messenger comes and says that as he did stand his watch upon the hill (5.5.37), that The Wood began to move. (5.5.39). • 40. Disadvantages Of Biomedical Engineering The human body is made up of a series of organs, each one serving its own unique and irreplaceable purpose within a system. For the most part these organs function to the fullest of their abilities; however, sometimes things go wrong, and organs, for whatever reason, stop working. When a vital organ fails it begins a decline in all other organs and can eventually lead to complete organ failure. This is because when an organ fails, there is nothing else able to imitate its unique structure and function. In the face of this, scientists and medical specialists alike have begun to develop methods to alleviate the consequences of organ failure. Some of these methods result from medicine, geneticists, and mechanics, but truly, the most prospective of all the methods is via biomedical engineering. Within biomedical engineering, through a method called Bioprinting, scientists can now create new organs out of the patient s own cells, and have been doing so since 1999 (11). It works like this. First you start with a blueprint outlining the desired structure of the organ(22). Then you move onto the 3d printingmachine, such as a Regonovo capable of running the inkjet sub method of 3d printing(15). This type of 3d printing is designed to build the desired object, or in this case organ, by laying down the material layer by layer and allowing it to fuse together along the way, allowing it to maintain structural integrity. Two different men that studied two different parts of philosophy. Because of their differences, most are unable to recognize their many similarities. Each of the men had the things they studied, but the basis of their theories were almost identical. Nietzsche One of the commendable influential philosophers in the history of ideas and a gifted stylist in his native German, Friedrich Nietzsche undertook a radical re evaluation of established ideas and critiqued moral values during his career. One of Nietzsche s primary studies was on the problem of morality. However, he seems to contradict himself on the matter of values. Tansesi claims it is because of the different definitions of value values in a descriptive sense as that which is thought to be of value by an individual or by the members of a group, and values in a normative sense as that which is objectively of value (652). Because of Nietzsche s committed denial of any moral values, it would seem impossible to attribute him to him a commitment to the existence of any values in the normative sense (652).
