Totalitarianism Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of totalitarianism can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a
comprehensive understanding of political ideologies, historical events, and societal implications.
Totalitarianism encompasses a broad range of complex concepts, making it necessary for the
writer to delve into the depths of political philosophy, analyze historical case studies, and
explore the multifaceted dimensions of power and control.
One of the inherent difficulties lies in defining and delineating the various characteristics of
totalitarian regimes. Such regimes often exhibit characteristics like state control, censorship,
propaganda, and the suppression of dissent, but navigating through the nuances and variations
across different historical and cultural contexts demands careful consideration and research.
Moreover, delving into the historical aspect involves a meticulous examination of key totalitarian
regimes, such as Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, or more recent examples like North Korea. The
writer must grapple with the intricacies of these historical narratives, considering the socio-
political landscapes that gave rise to such regimes and the lasting impacts they left on the world.
An additional layer of complexity arises when addressing the philosophical underpinnings of
totalitarianism. This requires a deep exploration of political theories, such as those put forth by
thinkers like Hannah Arendt or George Orwell. Unraveling the philosophical debates surrounding
the nature of authority, individual rights, and the role of the state is no small feat.
Furthermore, formulating a coherent and compelling thesis that captures the essence of
totalitarianism while providing fresh insights or perspectives adds another layer of challenge. It
demands critical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to synthesize vast amounts of
information into a cohesive argument.
In conclusion, writing an essay on totalitarianism is a demanding task that requires a synthesis of
historical knowledge, political philosophy, and analytical prowess. The intricate nature of the
topic necessitates a careful exploration of its various dimensions to provide a comprehensive
understanding. For those seeking assistance in navigating these challenges, it's worth noting that
there are resources available, such as HelpWriting.net, where one can find support in crafting
essays on complex topics and more.

Animal Testing Should Be Stopped
Stopping the Use Of Animals In Research Approximately twenty six million animals
are used every year in the United States for scientific and consumer research. These
animals are used to test products that many people use everyday. The animals are
used to test toxicity, consumer products, medical devices, and new drugs. The
Federal Animal Welfare Act (AWA) regulates animal testing
in the United States. The
AWA defines an animal as any live or dead dog, cat, monkey, guinea pig, hamster,
rabbit, and other warm blooded animals. The AWA does not protect 95% of these
animals. The Act excludes animals such as, birds, rats, mice, reptiles, and most fish.
While the AWA regulates the housing and transportation of animals used for
research, it does not regulate the experiments themselves. Even though the AWA
regulates the housing, the facilities are most often horrific. A new and upcoming
alternative methods are being put in to place so fewer animals can be used in
experimentations. Animal testing should be stopped because new alternative
methods are being developed, the testing facilities are unsuitable, it is costly, not
time efficient, and the researchers are not following the laws set in place by the
United States government (Robinson, 1). In 1959, Russell and Burch published a
book called The Principles of Humane Experimental Technique. This book
introduced the 3R s, which stand for refine, reduce, and replace. The 3R s were put
in place to ensure fewer animals were used in
Cultural Assimilation And The American Culture
For immigrants in America, two radically different choices of culture exist. First, the
immigrants can choose to stay loyal to their ancestral roots and deny mainstream
culture. Instead of contributing to the melting pot of opinions present they isolate
within themselves by refusing to learn both the English language and American
cultureas a whole. Because they cannot communicate with a majority of the
population, they don t maintain any amount of control over American ideals
including both politically and socially. The second opportunity available would be to
embrace this new found culture, no matter how foreign it is to them, and develop a
sense of unity with America. If immigrants wish to break the currently controlled
system of power and privilege in America and truly become a part of American
customs, they must learn to assimilate culturally. Cultural assimilationis the process
by which a foreign party becomes engulfed in and a part of a host nations culture.
Throughout America s history a pattern exists of immigrants coming to the land of
the free and becoming an essential part of our culture. At first America was primarily
populated by English immigrants who refused to obey the rule of Englands crown
authority. Soon after, immigrants began pouring into the country in the form of other
Europeans including the German and the Irish. One look at much of the architecture
in older areas of America shows just how much influence immigrants had on our early
country. One
The Meaning Of Life In Tuesdays With Morrie By Mitch
Albom
Well the truth is, if you really listen to that bird on your shoulder, if you accept that
you can die at any time, then you might not be as ambitious as you are (Albom, 83)
is a quote told by the protagonist who s body is decaying due to Amyotrophic Lateral
Sclerosis, and has come to terms with his disease and upcoming death. In the story
Tuesdays with Morrieby Mitch Albom, the protagonist Morrie Schwartz impacts
thousands of lives. Morrie Schwartz, a sociology professor who developed ALS, feels
the need to share his words of wisdom on the meaning of lifethrough taking pride in
the way he has lived, making use of his experiences, and being optimistic about his
upcoming death.

Using experiences to grow more and more each day is something Morrie took
pride in. Proffesor Schwartz spoke of experience when he said, The truth is, you
don t get satisfaction from those things. You know what really gives you
satisfaction? What? Offering others what you have to give (Albom, 127). This
was said when he explained to Mitch that money needs to stop being the people s
priority and that one s focus should be on their loved ones. Morrie has learned that
materialistic items do not bring him happiness more than his family does. He once
told Mitch the following statement: If you are trying to show off for people at the
top forget it. They will look down at you anyhow. And if you re trying to show off
for people at the bottom, forget it. They will only envy you. Status will get you
nowhere. Only an open heart will allow you to float equally between everyone
(Albom, 127). This means people will always find a flaw and the only way to
surpass everyone is through love. Morrie gave and received love continuously,
therefore when his time had come, many of the people he has touched visited him
and showed their gratitude. Mae West had said, You only live once, but if you do it
right, once is enough . She explains that doing what needs to be done to gladden the
heart, will lead to a satisfied and fulfilled life of little to no regrets. Those who lead
their life with little regrets, will be somewhat
Women in Movies Essay
Women in Movies Since the 1940 s, movies have predominately portrayed women as
sex symbols. Beginning in the 1940 s and continuing though the 1980 s, women did
not have major roles in movies. When they did have a leading role the women was
either pretreated as unintelligent and beautiful, or as conniving and beautiful: But she
was always beautiful. Before the 1990 s, men alone, wrote and directedall the movies,
and the movies were written for men. In comparison, movies of the 90 s are not
only written and directed by women, but leading roles are also held by older and
unattractive women. In this paper I will show the variations and growth of women s
roles in movies from the 1940 s though the 1990 s.

They went through a lot to get their men, but in the end of the movie they have a

Father of the Bride, portrays women to be homemakers. They are suppose to stay
at home, watch over the family, and be there to great their husbands at the door
when they get home from work. The movie tells the story of Kay Banks, a girl who
has graduated from highschool and is now waiting to find a husband. She is a
daddy s girl who gets everything she wants. Even though her father is against a big
church wedding he gives in and Kay and her new husband have a beautiful
wedding and everyone lives happily ever after. In the 1950 s women were
expected to be beautiful and be good wives. In the 1960 s women were portrayed

Moral Hero In Ramayana
In the Ramayana, Rama has been glorified as an ideal person and hero as he
consistently represents ethical ideals throughout the text. He stands as the main
character in this story that displays great qualities such as devotion, bravery, and
honor from beginning to the end of the epic itself. One would agree that he holds the
highest form of Dharma and is seen as a flawless man everyone can learn a thing or
two from.
He always had caring and concern words for the people in the city. Every evening
after he and his brothers return from the outskirts to the palace on foot after their
philosophy class, the citizens would always crowd the highway to catch a glimpse of
them. Without fail, Rama always had a word for everyone in the crowd, inquiring,
How are you? Are your children happy? Do you want any help from me?
(Prologue). This shows that Rama has always put the citizens concern in mind while
he could always have ignored them and return to the palace to reside in his chambers.

He finally found the trio in the forest where they had lived a holy life filled with
prayer and fasting, and begged Rama to return to Ayodhya as it was in need of a
king due to their father s unfortunate passing. If not for Rama s ability to see things
beyond ordinary human, Lakshmana would have thought that Bharatha was here
to kill them to secure the throne and he would have single handedly killed
Bharatha and his army first. Both Rama and Bharatha engaged in a highly
educated a philosophical argument about who should rule the kingdom. As Rama
already promised to Kaikeyi, he refused to return to the kingdom until 14 years
was because he wanted to ensure his instructions given to him as well as he could.
Any parents would be proud to have Rama as their son and his ways of living would
definitely be approved by Confucius as he has fulfilled the Five Great Relationships

Strain Theory Essay
Robert Agnew is known for his general strain theory. The theory explains that the
basis of people getting involved in criminal activity is because of strain. If someone
becomes upset, frustrated, depressed, or mistreated they will turn to crime in order to
deal with the feelings. Yet, not all people turn to crimein order to deal with strain or
stressors. There are different ways to measure strain. Subjective strains are those
strains that are disliked by particular person or group. This approached is aimed at
how the person reacts to the way they are treated. The second approach is called the
objective view. During this approach the researches will as individuals how much
they would dislike a specific event. Strains come in three major... Show more content

In fact, according to Cullen (2006), A strain is more likely to be seen as severe if it
is high in degree or size; it is frequent, recent, of long duration, and expected to
continue in the future; it threatens the core goals, needs, values, activities, and/or
identities of the individual (p. 204).
Moreover the presentation of negative stimuli can come from receiving negative
treatment. For example, the individual has been abused by a love one either
physically or sexually. These bad feelings create pressure for corrective action; we
want to do something so what we will not feel so bad (Simpson, 2000, p.109). In
consequence, the juvenile is more than likely to turn revenge and his actions will
drive him to criminal activity. There are several ways to deal with the strain and
negative emotions, many which include crime (Simpson, 2000). There are those
vicarious stains that increase the likelihood of crime for many reasons (Cullen, 2006).
The juvenile may try to get revenge, perhaps they are trying to prevent further harm
from the perpetrator, or they anticipate future harm.
Cullen (2006) states, Anticipated strains refer to the individual s expectation that his
or her current strains will continue into the future or that new strains will be
experienced (p. 203). Particularly speaking about the physical assault, an individual
may feel that he will be abuse in the future and will engage in crime because of strain.

The Loss Of The Creature By Walker Percy
In the essay The Loss of the Creature , Walker Percy highlights his observations on
how people perceive the world. He argues that we have lost original, self driven
learning because people only measure their experiences based on other people s
expectations. He states how these preconceived expectations of our experiences
give way to a symbolic complex. This complex is set by what people or Layman
believe the experts have set. Therefore, their experienceis only validated if people
feel that they have met those criteria. He believes that people can only have a true
experience if they forgo all those preconceived expectations and biases. Only then
can people truly experience something at face value. To present his ideas in a more...

and what to avoid. he be, lives that this takes away from the experience of the
canyon. We do not get to discover what the canyon means to us but are walked
through what the experts believe is the best way to see it. He puts it best by using
the example of the tourist who has waited his whole life to see the canyon. Once
he gets there, he is only comparing what he sees in front of him with what he has
seen in other places like postcards and pictures. He says that we do not appreciate
the sheer vastness or the enormity of what has been laid in front of us but instead
spend our time taking pictures and judging our experiences by how many shots we
take. Daily, I fight a battle with social media. The most prominent example is not

that ended with the spouse being murdered. The U.S. Marshals helped track down
the killer. After 911, the TSA is authorized to deploy federal air marshals on every
passenger flight of a U.S. air carrier. In order for this to be implemented, air
marshals have to complete a sixteen and a half week training program, and once
they are assigned to an area they must complete about a hundred and sixty hours a
year to keep their certification (Grover, 2017). Within the U.S Marshals you have
to have a bachelor s degree and be between the ages of twenty one and thirty six
just like with the FBI and DEA. Most of the federal agencies have strict age
requirements for their agencies, where most Police or Sheriff Departments can be
beyond that age to be hired on. Most agencies go out to about 45 years of age and
some Sheriff Departments can go further or even not have an age requirement. In
reading about the U.S Marshals, it was impressive that the agency would set up stings
to get fugitives to come to a certain location, while believing they won something.

Privacy In Demand Essay
Like most countries and especially the United States their inhabitants enjoy a certain
level of privacy. People don t generally want intimate information to be accessible to
the public eye. In fact many people go to great lengths to hide everything about
themselves. What exactly is the definition of privacy? Well, privacy is the expectation
that confidential personal informationdisclosed in a private place will not be
disclosed to third parties, when that disclosure would cause either embarassment or
emotional distress to a person of reasonable sensitivities. This information includes
facts, images (ex: photographs and videotapes), and disparaging opinions. When over

It sounds like these two laws should cover everyones privacy without too much of a
problem. However, this is not the case. There is an immense amount of information
floating around that is concidered public domain. Take for example the drivers
license. Every drivers license contains a name, birthdate, home mailing address,
license number, physical description failures to appear in court, failures to pay traffic
fines, license status, and major convictions up to and including the past seven years.
It does not end there. The Department of Motor Vehicles contains information that is
commonly and routinely consulted by employers, insurace companies, attorneys, and
private investigators. What kind of information are these people trying to access.
Well, that would include just about everything about your car such as its make, its
owner and even the lienholder if the loan for the vehicle has not been paid in full.
This information that is being collected by these third party groups is not being
researched with the same intention that it was collected for. This is also wrong.
What about court records. Unless those record involve a juvenile, they are usually
public. Propety records are also open for public inspection. When a home or other

Insecurity In Vermont
The food insecurity in Vermont is astonishing. It is even more sad knowing that it
is still increasing as well. The percentage of food insecure Vermont households
increased from an average of 9.1% (22,000 households) from 1999 to 2001 to an
average of 13.2% (34,000 households) from 2011 to 2013.†I knew there was an
issue with foodinsecurity all around the world but I did not expect it to be this high
in such a small state like, Vermont. The overall percentage of food insecurity
throughout all fifty states is a whopping 12.7%. Although it did decrease from 14%
in 2014, it is still above the pre recession rates.

This spacecraft also had solar panels that recharged the fuel battery and to boost
power flow. In the early years of the space program, when the Mariner 1 was
launch, this was very robust, sound, and an advanced piece of machinery. The
reason why NASA and JPL made this spacecraft sophisticated was because a
couple years before 1962 there were two missions that had a stated objective to
conduct a Venus flyby however both rockets failed. The cost of Mariner was $18.5
million dollars, but in today s world it s roughly $135 million.
Reasons why the Mariner 1 failed launched became historic was partially due to a
very avoidable error, which NASA described as a, hyphen in the data editing .
However, days leading up to launch there was speculation that NASA officials were
working under a very tight schedule with a launch window of 45 days, and that gave
little time under such pressure to launch another spacecraft to Venus. Also, since this
mission was extremely technological, there was much attention by newsgroups and
the public, this made the mission very high profile and added to the amount of tense
pressure for launch.
Causes of Failure There was not one concise reason that led to the failure of Mariner

That is a reason why she said Mr Quiring provided her family with ending (Toews,

The Theme Of Identity In A Complicated Kindness
Nomi Nickel s Identity Crisis Many people go through issues and they may change
a person. These issues or things can form one s identity. When faced with
challenges, an individual s identity is revealed. In the novel, A Complicated
Kindness by Miriam Toews, involves a young girl named Nomi and her search for
identity. Numerous factors such as culture, rebellious actions and the evaporation of
family all aid in Nomi s search for who she is. An individual s identity may be
formed due to their culture. One may be forced into an identity based on their
culture. Nomi Nickel is born into a Mennonite family. She is identified as a

The vanishing of one s family member may cause an identity crisis. When Nomi s
sister leaves runs away, Nomi is feeling a sense of loss and abandonment. Once
Tash is gone Nomi develops insomnia and has nightmares of Tash screaming while

(Toews 162). She leaves and although Nomi is seeing it as a bad thing in her life it
helps shape her into the person that she is supposed to be. Nomi has to go through
all of these hardships in order to become a stronger and wiser person. When Tash
disappears Nomi goes through a period of confusion which leads to rebellion.
Being a teenager is already a difficult thing to go through and adding in her sister
leaving Nomi is confused as to who she is. It causes her to question everything and
go on a rebellious path. Likewise, a mother cannot be replaced therefore the
evaporation of one s mother can lead to distress. Since Trudie has left East Village
without Nomi, Nomi again feels a sense of abandonment. Losing both her mother
and sister within months of each other is a very hard thing for Nomi to deal with.
When Tash left Nomi at least had her mother there to be with her. Even though after
Tash left, [her] mom s church singing got quieter she still had her mom with her
(162). This time around Nomi has only her father and herself. With her mother and

Social health is the ability to have a broad social network and have satisfying
interpersonal A relationships with friends, family members, and partners is a key part
of overall wellness.Intellectual health includes the ability to think clearly, reason
objectively and analyze critically. Emotional health enables people to express
emotions when appropriate, and to control them when not. Spiritual health forces
people to have a sense of meaning and purpose in your life. Environmental health
allows people to understand the health of the environment around them.
The Transtheoretical Model includes many complicated stages of the process of
changing a behavior. The Precontemplation stage consists of no intention of
changing whether failing to change before or being unaware of any problem.
Contemplation stage is the first stage where people recognize the presence of a

The Assassination Of Abraham Lincoln Essay
Sic Semper Tyrannis or Thus always I bring death to tyrants were the famous
words of Confederate actor John Wilkes Booth after he shot President Lincoln at
Ford s Theatre. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was a devastating event
that will be forever remembered in the hearts of all American citizens. On April
20, 1999 in Littleton, Colorado, Booth s words became a part of another American
tragedy; Columbine high school was the setting for arguably one of the most
infamous school shootings in the history of America. Two average American
boys, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris would make Columbine high school one of
the most famous in the world by taking aim at their peers and teachers, yet few
people know that the notorious shooting was originally planned to be a massive
bombing. One of the boys wore a shirt under his trench coat with the infamous
words blazen on the front to guarantee that their message was understood they were
seeking what they considered as justice when they were setting off bombs in their
high school. The school shooting was not the original plan for the two seniors,
Harris and Klebold had planned to blow their high school to smithereens. Firearms
were suppose to play only a small part the attack or what the boys called Judgement
Day. Jefferson County Police Department, the local department that handled the case,
has recently released the journals of the two shooters; the journals include detailed
itineraries for the attack and all of the trials
A Research Study On Data Collection
The research topic has been selected, the testable research question is developed,
research on the topic has been found, a literature review is completed, and a decision
has been made on the research design. Now, one of the most important steps in the
research process needs to be accomplished and that is the collection of data.
Notwithstanding the researchproject and whether the method of research is whether
qualitative or quantitative, data must be collected. Data collection is essential
whether the method of choice is a mail survey, a telephone survey, an interview, an
experiment, field research, or secondary data analysis. Data collection is an
important aspect of any type of research study. Inaccurate data can impact the
results of a study and ultimately lead to invalid results. During the data collection
step, a significant amount of time, energy and attention is required. In order to
ensure the data collection process is valid and successful, one should adhere to the
four steps involved: (1) the construction of a data collection form which is used to
organize all data that is collected; (2) the designation of the coding strategy used to
represent data on a data collection form; (3) the collection of the actual data; and (4)
entry into the data collection form (Salkind, 2012). Once the researcher knows what
information to collect and where to find it, the first step in the data collection process
is to organize the data on a constructed data collection form.

Like all works of art. the portrait is a system of signs; it is often an ideogram of
public meanings condensed into the image of a human face. Roman portrait sculpture
from the Republic through the late Empire the second century BCE. to the sixth CE
constitutes what is surely the most remarkable body of portrait art ever created. Its
shifting montage of abstractions from human appearance and character forms a
language in which the history of a whole society can be read. Beginning in the first
century B.C., Roman artists invented a new kind of portraiture, as unlike that of the

The emphasis accorded these contingencies of physiognomy and the resolute
refusal of any concession to our or, so it would appear, antiquity s ideas of
desirable physical appearance lead one easily to the conclusion that those portraits
are uncompromising attempts to transcribe into plastic form the reality of what is
seen, innocent of any idealization or programmatic bias. These are the portraits of
the conservative nobility (and of their middle class emulators) (luring the death
agonies of the Roman republic. There is no need to doubt that much of their

because the carefully prescribed ladder of public office normally allowed those who

and society to which they belong, and the twisted and

Oceanography is defined as the study of the oceans through mapping, exploring,
charting, and discovery and its birth is congruent with the birth of boats and voyages.
Originally, sailors and explorers would go on expeditions for mercantile purposes.
However, it evolved into mapping and exploring unknown sea routes. Oceanography
is a science in the essence of studying the ocean in its entirety, which is more than
mapping and knowing sea routes. Oceanography contributes to the scientific

Sophie Germain s Life And Accomplishments
Sophie Germain was one of the most amazing mathematicians of her time. When
Sophie turned 13, the Bastille fell and forced little Sophie to stay indoors. To kill
her boredom, Sophie read books in her father s library where she became interested
in mathematics. She poured over every book on math in her father s library and
even found the time to teach herself Latin and Greek. Knowing those two languages,
she was able to read works of Leonhard Euler and Isaac Newton. Sophie s parents
were not okay with the idea that their daughter loved mathematics; they tried to stop
her. But eventually, they realized their daughter was serious and allowed her to learn
more about mathematics. In Addition, Sophie Germain is famous for formulating

Differences Between Hanlan And Later Gaudaur
With that difference in mind, exploring Hanlan, and later Gaudaur, and their
respective approaches to showmanship can lead to further insight for this issue.
Understanding their successes, their failure, and their characteristics and personas are
integral to their influence on Canadian professional rowing. Both athletes maintain
the acceptance of professional rowing in Canada in the final decades of the 19th
century through their international success and their popular appeal. Edward Ned
Hanlan was a Toronto based athlete, the son of a police officer turned hotelier. As
early as 1871, at age 16, Hanlan won his first boat race, but it would be two years
before he would win his first rowing race, entering the sport as a professional athlete

Although I have covered the resistance of the English rowing community to
professional rowing, there was enough interest in it to provide Hanlan an outlet for
competition. The highlight of this trip was his race against William Elliott, then
professional sculling champion of England. Elliott was from Tyne, and personified
the antithesis of amateurism he was a manual labourer who raced to earn extra
money. It is fitting that this took place in 1879, as it was the year before demands
for exclusion of undesirable oarsmen peaked. Not that these demands had a serious
impact on the professional circuit, rather it furthered the exclusion of professionals
from amateur events. When they raced, Hanlan set yet another course record, easily
defeating Elliott. With this victory, Hanlan became the champion of three nations,
leaving only one challenge remaining. Returning to Canada for the winter, Hanlan
challenged the Australian Ed Trickett, the world champion, to a race in England the
following year. In this race along the Thames, Hanlan was in classic form he gained
a significant lead, then played with Trickett. Hanlan saw his former opponent Elliott
along the shore, and stopped for a conversation. Later, he spotted some Canadians,
and paddled over to have a brief conversation. He even pretended to faint. During
each of these escapades, Trickett would pull even before

Political Influence Of The Tea Party Movement

The Success Of Wi Fi Connectivity
Question 1] How would you propose to evaluate the success of the Wi Fi
connectivity initiative at McDonald s restaurants? Answer 1] Baltzan, Phillips,
Lynch and Blakey (2010) stated that success is difficult to measure. Markova,
Aula, Vainio, Wigelius, and Kulju (2007) discussed how tools for measuring
success lies in the fact that success means different things for the different
stakeholders that are the users of the service might emphasize the easiness of use
while improved productivity is often mentioned as one of the main benefits from
the perspective of the company. The success of Wi Fi can be evaluated on the
basis of benefits it is providing to its users and the company which is deploying
that service. Both factors that are usability and business aspects are taken into
consideration for evaluating success. Bradley, Pridmore, and Byrd (2006)
explained how IT plan quality and cultural factors have a greater impact on success
.Bradley et al. (2006) explained how the DeLone and McLean developed a six

information quality, IS use, user satisfaction, individual impact, and organizational
impact to measure the success of an organization. In the case study McDonald

Problem of Evil
1.(1) According to Buddhist beliefs, there is neither a soul nor an essential self.
Karma is understood as good or bad intentional actions performed in the mind, body,
and speech. Good intentions will lead to good consequences and bad intentions will
lead to bad consequences. Therefore, good karma is better than bad karma, but no
karma is better than good karma. The intentions performed in a small scale will
affect a person s life on a large scale. Each person is the cause of what he or she
reaps in the world. The individual is responsible for his or her own karmic results.
The way in which they think, the physical action that they perform, and what they
say further affect karmic intentions and results. By knowing this, a person can
change his or her behavior in an attempt to achieve good karmic results. In
Buddhist Literature, there is a list of ten meritorious deeds: generosity, morality,
meditation, reverence, service, transference of merit, rejoicing in others merit,
hearing the doctrine, teaching the doctrine, and straightening one s views. By
completing at least one of the ten meritorious deeds, a person can experience good
karma. For instance, if we are kind and help someone in need of help, whether or
not we know him or her, then that is good karma. If someone is sick or injured and
we offer them help to get better, then that is good karma. On the other hand, if we
curse because we miss the bus or the bus is late to bring us to school or work, then
this is bad
Upper Body Injury Essay
In the discussion at hand few where asked to to select an upper body injury in any
sport and elaborate on the subject matter. The first thing that we need to do is define
the appendicular skeleton. The axial skeleton includes all the bones (that form bony
structures) along the body s long axis. The bones of the appendicular skeleton make
up the rest of the skeleton and are so called because they are appendages of the axial
skeleton. The appendicular skeleton includes the bones of the shouldergirdle, the
upper limbs, the pelvic girdle, and the lower limbs. (Publishing). The injury that I was
enlightening to highlight within the appendicular skeleton is tennis elbow or in

Although there may be some truth in this statement, having a woman s AFL league

Not all women are going to want to play AFL but that can be said for any sport, for

Social Study Reflection
When I first entered into Mrs.Matteson s social studies classroom, I noticed her
desk situated on the other side of the room, directly across from the door. The desk
were arranged in rows of 4 to 5, facing the white board at the front of the room. At
the back of the classroom on the left side of the wall was a large set of cabinets
where Mrs.Matteson stored her materials, and her students stored their social
studies journals. The walls were decorated with posters displaying pictures of
people and places from different countries such as Germany and Africa. Something
I found very interesting was a display with a map of the world and how to say hello
in different languages such as Czech and Portuguese. One classroom management
routine, I observed was how the students got ready for the day. On the left wall of
the classroom was a small white board where students looked to find out what they
would be learning that day, what they would be able to do by the end of the lesson,
and what materials were needed for that day. I thoughtthis was a fantastic way of
giving students a sense of responsibility for their learning, it also allows the students
to see what is expected of them on that particular day. After reading the board,
students walked quietly to the back of classroom to grab their social studies journals
and returned to their seats, where they sat quietly awaiting Mrs.Matteson s
instruction. When transitioning from one activity to another Mrs.Matteson seemed to

Battle Royale In Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man
If any country is the emblem of true freedom, then America is the stereotypical
answer for a number of people. To which, during the reconstruction era, a division of
people who were both legally free and had the same opportunities, but only differed
in skin color, upheld racial segregation like that in Invisible Man. The novel s
protagonist utilizes a symbolic Battle Royale to represent the fight for equality, which
coupled with an erotic dance, leaves minorities stripped of their dignity; thus
representing how the American social view of the era is distorted. In order to
understand the significance of the Battle Royale, one must know that white men of
higher class would blindfold men of minorities in order for them to fight each other....

For an erotic dancer appears naked amongst the men, peering through an abstract
mask, the eyes hollow, allowing her to smile at the class and also be in distress
behind it. The men who control the money, control her, which degrades the
symbolic image of a woman because men both desire her body, yet desire to spit
upon her as a result of her being an erotic dancer. Both white and black men can t
touch her innocence, but white men still have the opportunity to achieve her
through social norms. Black men and minorities are only left to gaze, but not
touch her, for some threatened us if we looked, and others if we did not, making
minorities live in a paradox. This paradox of social views essentially leaves
minorities stripped down like the woman in the Battle Royale. Yet throughout it all,
the nakedness of the women shows an American flag tattooed on her stomach to
remark at the social irony of the era. For it is apparent she believes in the true
freedom of America, yet her, a white woman, and the minorities are being controlled
by white men for pure enjoyment and to continue to strip away their
Impact Of Black Friday
Impact of Black Friday on Society
We already know that the Black Friday is an American tradition that consists of a
drop in prices in major stores, during the last Friday of November, coinciding with
the opening of Christmas shopping. But what is the origin of this celebration?
The first use of the term Black Friday occurred not to refer to Christmas shopping, but
in relation to an economic crisis: on Friday, September 24, 1869, two relentless Wall
Street financiers, Jay Gould and Jim Fisk, After an intense work to obtain great
benefits, they failed in their efforts, and the market went bankrupt. For that reason,
that day was named as the Black Friday .
Another of the stories that accompany the term Black Friday has to do with the role
of small businesses in the market. Tradition has it that, after a whole year of losses,
finally, after Thanksgiving, the Christmas season arrived, the day from which the
benefits began, and with them, instead of red numbers, black numbers were produced.
Others claim that its origin dates back to November 19, 1975, the day in which the
New York Times first coined the adjective black to refer to the disorder of the traffic
and the chaos that had occurred in the city of Nueva York in that year, due to
discounts the day after Thanksgiving.
The tradition is indeed a positive practice for the economy of a country,
simultaneously, gives the possibility to millions of hard workers to recover their lost

Davis 13) She further explains how there has been an huge increase in prisons and
prisoners and presents her argument on the reasons why prisons have increased
such as the Prison Industrial Complex in which she explains in chapter five. This
chapter helps gives you a preview of what Davis will be talking about throughout
the book. In chapter two, slavery, civil rights, and abolitionist perspectives toward
prison,, Davis provides a connection of slavery and prison institutions. She
provides an insight in a way that I have never thought about prisons before. Davis
reflects back on history and explains how slavery has not ended yet but has change.
She explains how even though slavery is abolition. before slavery was normal just
how prisons are normal to us. Overtime, we may change our views about prisons
and come to the conclusion to abolish prisons. In chapter three, imprisonment and
reform, Davis explains the means of imprisonment and what reform has to do with
it. Davis argues that prisons are obsolete because they are undemocratic because
they take away human rights such as the 13th amendment. She argues that a
democracy would not need prisons and many social problems would be fix. Prisons
are a way of social control in which exploits
Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands,...
Tim Burton, producer, animator, and director, most commonly associated with his
darker horror and fantasy films, uses a array of cinematic techniques to display a
message to viewers and keep them more engaged in the storyline. After a thorough
analyzation of three classic Burton films Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward
Scissorhands, and Corpse Bride, one can come to the realization the Burton uses two
techniques very effectively throughout each picture. These two techniques are, Music
/Sound, and Camera Angles, and Burton uses them primarily to convey feelings to
the viewers and keep them engaged.
In Burton s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Music and Sound is a cinematic
technique used very effectively to convey various feelings to the viewer. One
specific scene comes to mind, the scene in which Willy Wonka introduces the
children and parents to the inside of the factory in the giant edible field. As
everybody enters that room, there is a non diegetic tune that accompanies a sense of
wonderment in the viewer. Soon, though, Wonka tells them to be cautious, and the
music becomes more uncertain, giving the viewer a feeling that something may
happen. The technique of Music/Sound is portrayed very effectively here, as it gives
the viewer various elements of foreshadowing and different feelings to get them
absorbed into the film. The second technique, Camera Angles, is also used effectively
in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to convey different feelings throughout the
The Life Of Elie Wiesel s Night
Imagine a dark, crowded place full of despair where you are almost always
undergoing forced labor, waiting to die, with no way out. This is the experience Elie
Wiesel wrote about in his famous book, Night. I have doubts that most people in the
world could even begin to express all the pain that must bring them. But that s exactly
what Elie Wieseldid. Born in Sighet, Romania on September 30th, 1928 Also a
popular professor at universities in many places, Wiesel wrote nearly 60 pieces of
literature, over 35 of those being books, before his death on July 2, 2016.
The events in Wiesel s life have led up in almost perfect succession, almost as if they
were asking him to write Night, and show the world the horrors of the Holocaust.

Even when people were ignorant, Wiesel still believed in acting against this world s
injustices.
Night gave Wiesel a fair amount of fame, but that is not the important part. What is
important is that it gave the world a new perception of the Holocaust, and opened up
people s eyes to the almost unspoken suffering at the concentration camps.
Wiesel s life made him an author and share his terrifying Holocaust experience with
the world.
Before the Holocaust, Elie Wiesel lived peacefully, with his grandfather and father
giving him the tools of knowledge for writing.
Wiesel ended up in France, where the experiences and people around him ended up
with him writing Night.
After Night got published, Elie Wiesel s work became well known and gave him
acheivements, along with many other things.
If you were to survive a prison of war, would you come forward and tell the tale? Or
would you leave the experience to slowly rot away, along with how people treated it,
instead of enlightening the world with the true horrors of
Homeless And Non Homeless Lesbian, Gay, And Bisexual
The study examined two groups, homeless and non homeless Lesbian, Gay, and
Bisexual (LGB) youths (Rosario, Schrimshaw, Hunter, 2012). There were a total of
156 participants between the ages of 14 and 21 years with a mean age of 18.3 years.
Participants were recruited from community based organizations, which focused on
youths and two college organizations of LGB students. Researchers wanted to
explore potential risk factors associated with the reason some LGB youths become
homeless, while others do not. The risk factors included experiencing sexual abuse,
negative responses from others based on one s sexual orientation, unbearable stress
for the parent or youth, and substance abuse. All of which are reasons one may run
away from home and become homeless. Lastly, researcher s hypothesized non
homeless youth are less likely than homeless youths to be involved in sexual abuse
and early sexual identity development as it pertains to LGB (Rosario et al., 2012).
The results revealed 75 of the 156 youths reported being homeless at some point,
57 had a history of running away, 38 were evicted from their parent s home; 20
youths experienced both running away and eviction (Rosario et al., 2012). From the
57 youths with a history of running away, 23 reported running away once and 14
more than one time. In relation to sexual orientation 13 youths who ran away, and 12
youths who were evicted reported identifying as LGB as the reason for becoming
homeless. Researchers then combined the

Just when everyone thought that Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna s relationship is
the real deal, they called it quits. The controversial couple had been madly in love
for over a month and now Kardashian s Instagram has no trace of Chyna and vice
versa. Before their breakup, Tyga slipped a little advice to the Arthur George socks
owner, warning him not to have a baby with Chyna because she will ruin his life. It
was previously reported that Kardashian and Chyna already picked a name for their
first baby together and that concerned Tyga because he knows the ordeal of having a
baby with the 27 year old model and former exotic performer. Tyga thinks Rob s
about to make a huge mistake if he has a baby with Blac, the source told

Over the past few years, he s laced Chyna with so much money for King it s

to spend on his son. He simply wants to do it himself and not fork it over to Blac. It
seems like Tyga doesn t have to worry about Kylie Jenner s big brother anymore
because he and Chyna already ended their romance after a nasty fight. They were
moving too fast, the source said to Us Weekly. They had a fight about how much
time they had been spending together but they ll be back. This is a relationship in
the fast lane. It all moves fast, so the breakups are dramatic too, like the relationship.

Compare and Contrast of the Army and the Marine Corps The United States Armed
Forces are the military forces of the United States. They consist of the Army, Navy,
Marine Corps, Air Force, and the Coast Guard. Although the United States Armyand
Marine Corps are both primarily ground based forces and offer many similar career
fields, the two branches are different in some very crucial areas. To accurately
compare and contrast the services, it is important to look at their overall missions
and career fields. The Army has its roots in the Continental Army which was formed

Both the Army and the Marine Corps offers similar career opportunities in areas
such as infantry, armor, aviation, administration. However, due to the Marine
Corps attachment with the Navy, it does not directly employ health care
professionals such as nurses, doctors, dentists or psychologists like the Army.
Instead, it receives these services from commissioned Navy medical officers. The
Marines are a highly mobile amphibious attack force. Marines are trained to attack
from the water and establish a beach head, an area of control on foreign soil. After
the Marines take territory, other armed forces such as the US Army move in to
maintain control, while the Marines move on. Marines are mobile, lightweight,
and very rapid. I would compare the Marines to the head of the spear, wedging in
to get a foothold and racing ahead once the land has been secured. In addition to
acting as a lightweight attack force from the ocean, Marines are also perfectly
capable of taking territory on land. Marines are trained for rapid deployment, and
are often the first US military personnel on site. Marines also guard American
embassies overseas, providing embassy security and safety. In volatile areas, being
a Marine embassy guard is a very risky job. The US Army, on the other hand, is the
primary ground based military forces. As such, the US Army captures and holds

To understanding and knowledge of ISD practices, ISD body of knowledge
To explore the ISD analytical frameworks
To critical analysis of skills in reviewing an academic research paper

Fong, Fong, Li (2011) states, the use of information technology provides a lot of
tangible and intangible benefits to the organizations so that they can be benefited
with information system and generates more sources of success. In addition to this, it
should also be noted down that, in the world of globalization, it is essential to
business firms and other organization to use different methods and innovative ways
of information technology and system development in order to survive in the fast
growing market (Demirkan Delen, 2013). Service oriented believing is one of the
quickest developing standards in data innovation, with pertinence to numerous
different teaches, for example, bookkeeping, account and operations. Developing
learning of information and communication technology (ICT) outline, execution,
stockpiling, transmission and reuse alongside the development of web is making
chances to design data advances into administration connections that make new

Compare And Contrast Malala Yousafzai
Malala Yousafzai and Claudette Colvin both grew up in very painful conditions.
Although their endings were very different, they both became better because of
them. They also show us that the best way to respond to conflict is to not back
down even in extreme situations. These real people showed us how they didn t back
down and, eventually, with hard work and courage, they made the world a better
place.
Malala Yousafzai s story starts when she was around eleven years old. Education for
girls and women was always discouraged, but now the people of Pakistan were being
punished for going to school. Malala refused to back down and stop going to school,
even though her entire community was being terrorized. She started writing and

Psychologist s overview of what Malala can teach people about mental health,
moral principles, and self esteem is interesting because even though she has gone
through so much he states, If there was a Nobel Prize for Psychological Health,
Malala Yousafzai would have won it too. Indeed, Malala is a living testament to
the incredible power of emotional resilience. He also states that Malala has
reframed the assassination attempt in her mind so she does not feel helpless and
victimized but rather purposeful and empowered. If they come to kill me I will
tell them what they are trying to do is wrong, that education is our basic right.
Having purpose can help people recover from trauma and become stronger
psychologically than they were before, a phenomenon known as post traumatic
growth. Malala is an amazing example of someone who has thrived after trauma,
primarily because of the purpose and mission to which she has devoted her life. All
of this traumas helped to shape Malala into the person she is, and she won the Nobel

Kodak Mistake
Kodak s million dollar mistake.
Kodak is a multinational company based in US but with operations across the globe.
The company was established in 1889 by George Eastman. The company as then
known as Eastman Kodak Company but currently is popularly known as Kodak. The
company is involved in the production of photographic and imaging materials and
equipment s (Fandel, 2007).
Kodak was the leader in bringing photography to the mass market. They held 90
percent market share in the US film market at their peak in 1976. This was because
it connected well with the market and most of its products reflected the needs and
expectations of the customers. It was also found that Kodak was successful because
it largely dominated the market with over 90% market share in 1976 (Black,
2010).Which, funnily enough, was the root of the problem. Myopic, self involved
Kodak was a victim of its own success, deciding to keep its stellar invention under
wraps rather than mess with its perfect monopoly. (Giannetto, 2014)

Kodak was doing extremely well in the market but its failure can largely be
attributed to the leadership. This is because the company at some time lacked a
visionary leadership that was able to comprehend the changes that were taking place
in the external environment and ensure that the necessary steps were taken. For
example, even though to a certain extent the failure of the company is attributed to
failing to adapt to digital technology, the greatest blame lies with the leadership. This
is because Kodak having dominated the imaging and photography industry for long,
the company was the first to develop a digital camera way back in 1975. This means
that the company had the necessary knowledge, supply chain, workforce and other
resources necessary to enhance the company s competitiveness (Pham Gia,
Anesthesia
Throughout history many jobs are often overlooked, Well at least the origins of
them are. Established in the late 1800 s the demand for nurse anesthetists grew,
being that this time period was a big war time period. When the practice first
originated physicians not nurses gave anesthesia in the UK from the beginning of
anesthesia. The low professional status of young doctors began to draw in attention
to this practice. The study of anesthesia made some drastic changes in healthcare ,
while appreciating the full potential of anesthesia surgeons have required longer
practices . Once someone had heard about the discovery of anesthesia it has been put
to use in February 1847, and since then has been saving the world one day at a time....

However doctors use to use an open drop of anesthesia; until it was found much
easier to use the Morton s original inhaler method (Wilkison). By the early 1900 s
Britain and the United States and many doctors started to specialize in Anesthesia. By
the 1960 s many anesthetic offices were created with teams of nurses and doctors. By
1978 The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that nurses who practiced
anesthesia would be an essential service and major contribution (medicalises) which
then then had been true. Many surgeries performed today would not be possible
without the help of anesthetists. Although some training may take up to three years
in some countries nurses often change their job titles, but In turkey and Sudan they
become medical assistants, In Uganda their title becomes anesthesia officer, and in
China once they complete anesthetist school they become physicians. (McAuliffe,pg

produce successful nurses and doctors who will gravely contribute to this area of
healthcare. Anesthetists offer so much to many people around the world and day by
day they began to make a difference in many

Introduction to Motivation as a Concept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an organization, motivation involves ensuring the employees perform highly to
achieve the organization s desired goals. Several motivational theories have been
advanced as to explain workers attitudes towards motivation. One such theory is
Herzberg s motivation hygiene theory (Bauer Erdogan, 2015). He posits that there
are certain factors in the workplace that cause job satisfaction. These include the
advancement of an employee s career. He believed that workers were no longer just
satisfied with the minimum basic salary but aimed to achieve more. Herzberg also
found there are certain factors in the company that causes dissatisfaction for the
employee. These include supervision, company policies, salaries and work
conditions. If a business wants to motivate its employees, it should focus on
satisfaction factors (Bauer Erdogan,
Is Hume Correct That Reason In Its Representational
Capacity
Hume: Is Hume correct that reason in its representational capacity (telling us matters
of fact) cannot by itself furnish us with motives for action? In other words, is Hume
correct that only desire or passion can serve as a necessary ingredient in human
motivation? If you agree with him, why? If you disagree with him, how so?
Historically, most philosophers have described the duality of reason and passion as
combat, and this seems like a fairly rational interpretation. After all, people often
experience inner arguments that seem to stem from the minds logical side battling
the wants or emotions of the individual. Take, for example, a tasty, but unhealthy,
snack. Before inevitably giving to the enticement of sugar or grease, the individual

One side might contest that it is bad for their body or that it will prohibit them
from sleeping, the other, often less eloquent side, will whine back, But I waaant it.
While not all people deal with this specific situation, the sensation of an argument
within oneself is, more or less, a human experience. This inevitably leads to the
conclusion that there are both combat and peace treaties between two aspects of a
person and that, as reason is, seemingly, the more sensible of the two, people should
endeavor to place it in control of the passions and the body as whole. This is
compared to a charioteer reigning in and controlling her wild, eager horses. David
Hume contests this picture of the mind. He claims, in A Treatise of Human Nature,
that, that reason alone can never be a motive to any action of the will; and
secondly, that it can never oppose passion in the direction of the will. Instead, he
thinks that better model would place passion as the master of her slaves, who are
not wild or fighting for control, and directing them to carry her where she wills. She
is obviously in control and there is no battle between them. Hume makes a strong
case for this viewpoint. Reason, he says, our rational understanding, can only tell
Journey Of Being Kind Analysis
The Journey of Being Patient Being kind is a task everyone is challenged with
each day but many people never seem to master kindness. Kindness is an emotion
that is giving off to others as being polite and considering others whether you know
them or not. Kindness is a characteristic that is only felt or seen by others. Kindness
is a form of love that someone can express towards somebody and will either be
excepted or denied. The importance of kindness is to see that being kind is the right
thing to do in any situation no matter the anger or frustration. Kindness is needed in
order to show love and happiness to others and also shows that you respect a relation
with someone. If you drown someone with kindness people see good character in you

Although I see myself as a kind, polite, and generous person my toughest battle is
being impatient. My struggle with being impatient definitely comes from my
father as that is all I was ever shown. I get along with everyone and I am well liked
with many friends ,but when I am wronged I always feel the need to retaliate. My
impatience is the biggest problem I see wrong with myself which makes me feel
disgusted with myself because I crush others hearts when I retaliate. There is a
constant pain when I hurt others and shows my lack of self control. One time my
little brother that is fourteen now and I were cleaning the house. I gave my brother
a order of things to clean and I had my own. I saw he was taking a lot of breaks and
not doing a very good job scrubbing the white cabinets. I grabbed him and yelled at
him telling him that he was lazy as hell and that his cleaning looked like crap. He
was upset and wanted to retaliate but knew he didn t have a chance. I then calmed
down after a bit and saw myself acting just as my father would towards my brother.
I had just demonstrated to my dad what I always hated. I felt awful and selfish for
my actions. I then went to him and apologized and told his how sorry I was. My
actions and anger towards him that day really showed me I had a problem with
patience and could do better. I saw that nothing would change if I didn t
Persuasive Essay On How To Prevent Bullying
Something that prevents bullying is treating everyone with respect. If you
realized that you were being a bully to someone you can apologize to them. Try to
have a good attitude towards a person. If you are being bullied you can tell them
straightforward to show that you are not the kind of person to be messing around
or not to seem easily picked on. Try to make it seem as if it doesn t bother you to
make it seem that it doesn t bother you. Don t act like a victim and if they don t
listen when you tell them to stop go get support. Don t ever fight back, violence is
never the answer. Then stay away where the bullyinghappens. Get support by asking
parents, other students or friends and an adult at school for help. Telling someone
will not always make it better but it is worth it to get a little help. Talking to
someone is best to not let your feelings about being bullied build up causing it to
become more dangerous. When bullying happens online which is cyberbullying
you can still protect yourself. The privacy settings can be turned on or changed,
you can control on who sees your post. You can also block the user but the easiest
way is to ignore and delete the post. Be careful because anything that someone or
you post online will some how always be there by someone reposting, saving or
screenshot. Also deleting the account is the best and to never get involved. When
being cyberbullied it follows the person throughout home, school and anywhere they
go. Having a friend who they
Analysis Of The Book Kezia
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: Kezia KEZIA There are two ways to explain the
concept behind Kezia : the literal meaning of it and the deeper meaning behind it.
The simple explanation is that you have three characters on who all describe a
certain situation from their point of view, which is the execution of a woman. A
priest, a prison guard who s also the executioner and the woman in question, Kezia.
First, they paint a general picture. Then they explain how the character feels
connected to Kezia. Last is their view on the shooting of Kezia. The deeper
meaning of the concept is the gradual downfall of our society. There are also
political and social critical messages in it. More in general, comments on the fact
that religion and power are getting more entwined every day. This is also about the
responsibility that everyone has as a member of our society. It s your civil duty to
act when you need to. The last excerpt is written in the form of Kezia s last words.
ACT I: THE PRISON PRIEST The scene begins where the preacher is speaking
against the church/illuminati which would harm him. The prison priest character is
saying that the church has become corrupt and hints possibly at a higher power
behind the church and the church s use of fear or war (death) to control people. The
fact that if people found out the church was corrupted, the foundations of their lives
would be broken down. They use propaganda to force people into war dying willing
for a cause they don t fully understand.
Traumatic Experiences In Elie s Journey
Traumatic experiences that affect people emotionally can cause them to change their
perspective about their previous beliefs. This is shown through Elie s decrease in
faith towards himself, his father, and God. In each of these three circumstances, Elie
s emotions are affected heavily. In turn, this influences his perspective about the
future. When Elie stops believing in himself, he stops seeing a future in which he
lives. When Elie loses faith in his father, he fails to see a situation in which they
both come out alive. Finally, when Elie loses faith in his god, he neglects one of the
most important components of his life. This caused him to feel alone. Oftentimes,
people can become so directly affected from a traumatic event that they witness

Totalitarianism Essay. Opposing Totalitarianism Essay Example Topics and Well Written Essays ...

  • 1. Totalitarianism Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of totalitarianism can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a comprehensive understanding of political ideologies, historical events, and societal implications. Totalitarianism encompasses a broad range of complex concepts, making it necessary for the writer to delve into the depths of political philosophy, analyze historical case studies, and explore the multifaceted dimensions of power and control. One of the inherent difficulties lies in defining and delineating the various characteristics of totalitarian regimes. Such regimes often exhibit characteristics like state control, censorship, propaganda, and the suppression of dissent, but navigating through the nuances and variations across different historical and cultural contexts demands careful consideration and research. Moreover, delving into the historical aspect involves a meticulous examination of key totalitarian regimes, such as Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, or more recent examples like North Korea. The writer must grapple with the intricacies of these historical narratives, considering the socio- political landscapes that gave rise to such regimes and the lasting impacts they left on the world. An additional layer of complexity arises when addressing the philosophical underpinnings of totalitarianism. This requires a deep exploration of political theories, such as those put forth by thinkers like Hannah Arendt or George Orwell. Unraveling the philosophical debates surrounding the nature of authority, individual rights, and the role of the state is no small feat. Furthermore, formulating a coherent and compelling thesis that captures the essence of totalitarianism while providing fresh insights or perspectives adds another layer of challenge. It demands critical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to synthesize vast amounts of information into a cohesive argument. In conclusion, writing an essay on totalitarianism is a demanding task that requires a synthesis of historical knowledge, political philosophy, and analytical prowess. The intricate nature of the topic necessitates a careful exploration of its various dimensions to provide a comprehensive understanding. For those seeking assistance in navigating these challenges, it's worth noting that there are resources available, such as HelpWriting.net, where one can find support in crafting essays on complex topics and more. • 2. Animal Testing Should Be Stopped Stopping the Use Of Animals In Research Approximately twenty six million animals are used every year in the United States for scientific and consumer research. These animals are used to test products that many people use everyday. The animals are used to test toxicity, consumer products, medical devices, and new drugs. The Federal Animal Welfare Act (AWA) regulates animal testing in the United States. The AWA defines an animal as any live or dead dog, cat, monkey, guinea pig, hamster, rabbit, and other warm blooded animals. The AWA does not protect 95% of these animals. The Act excludes animals such as, birds, rats, mice, reptiles, and most fish. While the AWA regulates the housing and transportation of animals used for research, it does not regulate the experiments themselves. Even though the AWA regulates the housing, the facilities are most often horrific. A new and upcoming alternative methods are being put in to place so fewer animals can be used in experimentations. Animal testing should be stopped because new alternative methods are being developed, the testing facilities are unsuitable, it is costly, not time efficient, and the researchers are not following the laws set in place by the United States government (Robinson, 1). In 1959, Russell and Burch published a book called The Principles of Humane Experimental Technique. This book introduced the 3R s, which stand for refine, reduce, and replace. The 3R s were put in place to ensure fewer animals were used in
  • 3. Cultural Assimilation And The American Culture For immigrants in America, two radically different choices of culture exist. First, the immigrants can choose to stay loyal to their ancestral roots and deny mainstream culture. Instead of contributing to the melting pot of opinions present they isolate within themselves by refusing to learn both the English language and American cultureas a whole. Because they cannot communicate with a majority of the population, they don t maintain any amount of control over American ideals including both politically and socially. The second opportunity available would be to embrace this new found culture, no matter how foreign it is to them, and develop a sense of unity with America. If immigrants wish to break the currently controlled system of power and privilege in America and truly become a part of American customs, they must learn to assimilate culturally. Cultural assimilationis the process by which a foreign party becomes engulfed in and a part of a host nations culture. Throughout America s history a pattern exists of immigrants coming to the land of the free and becoming an essential part of our culture. At first America was primarily populated by English immigrants who refused to obey the rule of Englands crown authority. Soon after, immigrants began pouring into the country in the form of other Europeans including the German and the Irish. One look at much of the architecture in older areas of America shows just how much influence immigrants had on our early country. One
  • 4. The Meaning Of Life In Tuesdays With Morrie By Mitch Albom Well the truth is, if you really listen to that bird on your shoulder, if you accept that you can die at any time, then you might not be as ambitious as you are (Albom, 83) is a quote told by the protagonist who s body is decaying due to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and has come to terms with his disease and upcoming death. Proffesor Schwartz spoke of experience when he said, The truth is, you don t get satisfaction from those things. You know what really gives you satisfaction? What? Offering others what you have to give (Albom, 127). This was said when he explained to Mitch that money needs to stop being the people s priority and that one s focus should be on their loved ones. Morrie has learned that materialistic items do not bring him happiness more than his family does. He once told Mitch the following statement: If you are trying to show off for people at the top forget it. They will look down at you anyhow. And if you re trying to show off for people at the bottom, forget it. They will only envy you. Status will get you nowhere. Only an open heart will allow you to float equally between everyone (Albom, 127). This means people will always find a flaw and the only way to surpass everyone is through love. Morrie gave and received love continuously, therefore when his time had come, many of the people he has touched visited him and showed their gratitude. Mae West had said, You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough . She explains that doing what needs to be done to gladden the heart, will lead to a satisfied and fulfilled life of little to no regrets. Those who lead their life with little regrets, will be somewhat
  • 5. Women in Movies Essay Women in Movies Since the 1940 s, movies have predominately portrayed women as sex symbols. If someone becomes upset, frustrated, depressed, or mistreated they will turn to crime in order to deal with the feelings. Yet, not all people turn to crimein order to deal with strain or stressors. There are different ways to measure strain. Subjective strains are those strains that are disliked by particular person or group. In fact, according to Cullen (2006), A strain is more likely to be seen as severe if it is high in degree or size; it is frequent, recent, of long duration, and expected to continue in the future; it threatens the core goals, needs, values, activities, and/or identities of the individual (p. 204). Moreover the presentation of negative stimuli can come from receiving negative treatment. For example, the individual has been abused by a love one either physically or sexually. These bad feelings create pressure for corrective action; we want to do something so what we will not feel so bad (Simpson, 2000, p.109). In consequence, the juvenile is more than likely to turn revenge and his actions will drive him to criminal activity. There are several ways to deal with the strain and negative emotions, many which include crime (Simpson, 2000). There are those vicarious stains that increase the likelihood of crime for many reasons (Cullen, 2006). The juvenile may try to get revenge, perhaps they are trying to prevent further harm from the perpetrator, or they anticipate future harm. Cullen (2006) states, Anticipated strains refer to the individual s expectation that his or her current strains will continue into the future or that new strains will be experienced (p. 203). Particularly speaking about the physical assault, an individual may feel that he will be abuse in the future and will engage in crime because of strain. Another example

Now, one of the most important steps in the research process needs to be accomplished and that is the collection of data. Notwithstanding the researchproject and whether the method of research is whether qualitative or quantitative, data must be collected. Data collection is essential whether the method of choice is a mail survey, a telephone survey, an interview, an experiment, field research, or secondary data analysis. Data collection is an important aspect of any type of research study. Inaccurate data can impact the results of a study and ultimately lead to invalid results. During the data collection step, a significant amount of time, energy and attention is required. In order to ensure the data collection process is valid and successful, one should adhere to the four steps involved: (1) the construction of a data collection form which is used to organize all data that is collected; (2) the designation of the coding strategy used to represent data on a data collection form; (3) the collection of the actual data; and (4) entry into the data collection form (Salkind, 2012). Once the researcher knows what information to collect and where to find it, the first step in the data collection process is to organize the data on a constructed data collection form.

It is fitting that this took place in 1879, as it was the year before demands for exclusion of undesirable oarsmen peaked. Not that these demands had a serious impact on the professional circuit, rather it furthered the exclusion of professionals from amateur events. When they raced, Hanlan set yet another course record, easily defeating Elliott. With this victory, Hanlan became the champion of three nations, leaving only one challenge remaining. Returning to Canada for the winter, Hanlan challenged the Australian Ed Trickett, the world champion, to a race in England the following year. In this race along the Thames, Hanlan was in classic form he gained a significant lead, then played with Trickett. • 33. Problem of Evil 1.(1) According to Buddhist beliefs, there is neither a soul nor an essential self. Karma is understood as good or bad intentional actions performed in the mind, body, and speech. Good intentions will lead to good consequences and bad intentions will lead to bad consequences. Therefore, good karma is better than bad karma, but no karma is better than good karma. The intentions performed in a small scale will affect a person s life on a large scale. Each person is the cause of what he or she reaps in the world. The individual is responsible for his or her own karmic results. The way in which they think, the physical action that they perform, and what they say further affect karmic intentions and results. By knowing this, a person can change his or her behavior in an attempt to achieve good karmic results. In Buddhist Literature, there is a list of ten meritorious deeds: generosity, morality, meditation, reverence, service, transference of merit, rejoicing in others merit, hearing the doctrine, teaching the doctrine, and straightening one s views. By completing at least one of the ten meritorious deeds, a person can experience good karma. For instance, if we are kind and help someone in need of help, whether or not we know him or her, then that is good karma. If someone is sick or injured and we offer them help to get better, then that is good karma. On the other hand, if we curse because we miss the bus or the bus is late to bring us to school or work, then this is bad

Impact Of Black Friday Impact of Black Friday on Society We already know that the Black Friday is an American tradition that consists of a drop in prices in major stores, during the last Friday of November, coinciding with the opening of Christmas shopping. The first use of the term Black Friday occurred not to refer to Christmas shopping, but in relation to an economic crisis: on Friday, September 24, 1869, two relentless Wall Street financiers, Jay Gould and Jim Fisk, After an intense work to obtain great benefits, they failed in their efforts, and the market went bankrupt. For that reason, that day was named as the Black Friday . Another of the stories that accompany the term Black Friday has to do with the role of small businesses in the market. Tradition has it that, after a whole year of losses, finally, after Thanksgiving, the Christmas season arrived, the day from which the benefits began, and with them, instead of red numbers, black numbers were produced. Is Hume Correct That Reason In Its Representational Capacity Hume: Is Hume correct that reason in its representational capacity (telling us matters of fact) cannot by itself furnish us with motives for action? In other words, is Hume correct that only desire or passion can serve as a necessary ingredient in human motivation? If you agree with him, why? If you disagree with him, how so? Historically, most philosophers have described the duality of reason and passion as combat, and this seems like a fairly rational interpretation. One side might contest that it is bad for their body or that it will prohibit them from sleeping, the other, often less eloquent side, will whine back, But I waaant it. While not all people deal with this specific situation, the sensation of an argument within oneself is, more or less, a human experience. This inevitably leads to the conclusion that there are both combat and peace treaties between two aspects of a person and that, as reason is, seemingly, the more sensible of the two, people should endeavor to place it in control of the passions and the body as whole. This is compared to a charioteer reigning in and controlling her wild, eager horses. David Hume contests this picture of the mind. He claims, in A Treatise of Human Nature, that, that reason alone can never be a motive to any action of the will; and secondly, that it can never oppose passion in the direction of the will. Instead, he thinks that better model would place passion as the master of her slaves, who are not wild or fighting for control, and directing them to carry her where she wills. She is obviously in control and there is no battle between them. Hume makes a strong case for this viewpoint. Reason, he says, our rational understanding, can only tell
