If Everyone Is A Lucky Dog Essay
If Everyone is A Lucky Dog I read a story of The Bible just now. A man in it was fortune when I was
under a heavy pressure to face a test. I sometimes thought why I always lose chances, and I think I am
not lucky. But when I think about a thing from another aspect, I find that I am not only lucky, but also
unique. Daniel the servant of the living god was cast into a den of lions. A stone was laid over the
mouth of the pit, and then the king ordered to close it. No one can change his purpose. But that night,
it was a very long night for Darius the king, for he cannot eat well, sleep well and hardly to listen to
the music. The second day, he got up very early in the morning. He went to the den of the lions and
with a very sorrowful voice cried. He asked toward to the den if he was alive. He did not know if he

Fortunately, he got a strong and cheery voice. He was still alive. The king regretted what he had done
to him, and he worried him so that he looks for him in the early morning. The king did not want to be
punished by god for the man was servant of god; he regretted to treat him so violently. Daniel was
brought up out of the den by king, and the king put down his heart after he assured that there was no
hurt found upon him, because he had believed in god. Daniel was lucky, he was servant of god, when
he met difficult god will help him. When he was thrown into the den of lions, god sent his angel to
help him out of the lions who has shut the lions mouths so that no hurt was found in him. There is no
doubt that Daniel is lucky for he is god s servant. He is unique. But for many people who are very
common and not especial, if they can live when they are thrown into the pit of lions, how could they
do to live when they face so many big and cruel beasts. Maybe ninety nine

Elaine Macardle s The Lost Boys
Not Enough Boys Elaine MacArdle is a correspondent for the Boston Globe and wrote The Lost Boys.
Michelle Conlin is a writer for Business Week and she wrote The New Gender Gap. Both of these
writer talk about the decline of young men attending college and women becoming the majority in
getting a higher education. The message that these two writers want to get across is that there is a
gender reversal in American education and how this may affect society and our nation. Historically
males have been the primary beneficiaries of education. It s a man s world, men are the creators of
civilizations, laws and education in America. Men have created a system where they can be cater too
in every way possible. Men usually have first pick of what they want to do with their life, they tend to
have a choice whether to attend college. Woman before did not have much of a choice to attend
college to seek a career, woman have usually gotten marry and raised kids. Conlin says The gender

McArdle says We should start teaching them according to how they learn, not according to some idea
that boys and girls have to learn the same way (167). This could be a new possible system of teaching
the two sexes differently without holding anyone back in the process. Male and female have different
brain activity and also very different ways of learning. When it comes to teaching there needs to be a
more specific study, to come with a more evolved teaching criteria. Lastly Conlin says A new world
has opened up for girls, but unless a symmetrical effort is made to help boys find their footing, it may
turn out that it s a lonely place to be. After all, it takes more than one gender to have a gender
revolution (179). Schools need to start taking responsibility for what goes on in schools and their
teaching methods that are failing everyone especially

The Happiest Refugee, Directed By Phillip Noyce And The...
Good morning year twelve English and Mrs Broadway,
Our cohort is nearing the end of its secondary education and therefore it is important that we reflect on
the ways in which it has shaped our attitudes values and beliefs. For example, over the past five years
we have read, analysed and evaluated various literary works (novels, plays, films etc) in our English
studies. These texts express various ideologies, some of which have left a lasting impression on our
attitudes, values and beliefs. In addition to this, English literary texts have provided us with historical
knowledge aswell as a thorough understanding of the role that aesthetic devices play in engaging
readers and expressing ideas. Three texts that have influenced me as an ... Show more content on

The resettlement of refugees in Australia is a controversial topic; many people believe that they come
here to commit crime, change our culture and steal our jobs. The Happiest Refugee has enhanced my
belief that refugees should be allowed to live in Australia. I believe that refugees are here to escape
war and persecution; they are not criminals, nor do they want to change our culture or steal our jobs.
Refugees are generally grateful for their new lives in Australia and they embrace our culture. The
Happiest Refugee is a source of evidence that supports this.
The Happiest Refugee discusses various concepts including the effects of war, the trauma that
refugees experience, their desire to contribute to society and our negative attitudes towards them. The
second Indochina war occurred because the communist state of North Vietnam wanted political
control over South Vietnam. Between 1955 and 1973, the USA was involved in South Vietnam s
defensive effort. In 1973 however, the US army left because too much money was being invested into
the war and defensive attempts proved futile. As a result, South Vietnam was left completely
defenceless. After the war, South Vietnamese soldiers and their families were captured by the North
Vietnamese communists and held in labour camps. Some of these prisoners were eventually released
(after 1976), however, they

5 Paragraph Essay Outline
Throughout all of high school, students are taught to write papers following the outline of a five
paragraph essay. The five paragraph essay is a format of essay having five paragraphs: one
introductory paragraph, three body paragraphs with support and development, and one concluding
paragraph. This basic structure has proven to be effective for many students however the format itself
has been accused of being rigid and arbitrary as well as being accused of valuing mechanical
organizational schemes rather than in depth thinking. (1) Is the five paragraph essay as flawed as some
people make it out to be? A five paragraph essay breaks down like this: The first paragraph contains a

The World´s Demand of Fossil Fuels
The world s demand of fossil fuels is slowly diminishing by the growing use of biofuels. May it be
ethanol or biodiesel its one step closer to a greener earth. From peanut oil to bark, science is being
done to convert plants into energy.
Creation of Biofuel Some might think that biofuels are new but they have been in use ever since man
discovered fire. Wood is a solid biofuel used for cooking and heating. The types of biofuels are solid
gas and liquid. The most common is liquid made popular by the automobile industry as a source of
fuel. Biofuel is a fuel that contained energy from once living organisms. Biofuel is created by biomass
conversion. Biomass is recently deceased organisms. These recently deceased organisms are converted
into a substance called biomass that contains the energy. The biomass will be converted into a fuel
using one of these methods: thermal conversion, chemical conversion and biochemical conversion.
Thermal conversion is also known as thermal depolymerization, a process using high heat to produce
biofuel. Chemical conversion uses various chemicals to produce biofuel. Finally, biochemical
conversion uses enzymes, microbes, and catalysts to make biofuel.
Generations of Biofuel The two generations of biofuels. The first generation is commonly known as
biofuels made from sugar, starch or vegetable oil. These would be ethanol, biodiesel, methanol,
butanol, green diesel, vegetable oil, biogas and syngas. Second gen biofuels are also known as

Rappaccini’s Daughter
Women and Rappaccini s Daughter
What are the attitudes of the young medical school student in Hawthorne s tale, Rappaccini s
Daughter, toward women; of the author toward women; of other characters in the story toward
women? Are women involved in basic plot development? This essay intends to answer these and other
questions about women in the short story.
Beatrice, Dr. Rappaccini s daughter, is the prime motivating force in the story. Giovanni s love for the
beautiful daughter, mixed perhaps with pride, blinds him to various indications of her poisonous
nature, to the evil nature of her father and to the intent of her father to involve the protagonist as a
subject in his sinister experiment.

This may be expected since she is Italian. Or perhaps Hawthorne was conscious of moral
responsibility in her portrayal; Sculley Bradley, Richmond Croom Beatty and E. Hudson Long in The
Social Criticism of a Public Man state regarding the author: He was absorbed by the enigmas of evil
and of moral responsibility (47).
Giovanni in his room can hear the water gurgling in Dr. Rappaccini s garden, from an ancient marble
fountain located in the center of the plants and bushes; of particular interest to Giovanni is one shrub
in particular, set in a marble vase in the midst of the pool, that bore a profusion of purple blossoms,
each of which had the lustre and richness of a gem. As striking as the plant of the purple gems is a tall,
emaciated, sallow, and sickly looking man, dressed in a scholar s garb of black, who is busy in the
garden, scientifically examining the plants in a detached and cautious manner as if walking among
malignant influences, such as savage beasts, or deadly snakes, or evil spirits.
Ironically, into this sinister environment the reader sees the second female character enter the tale with
the doctor s shout, Beatrice! Beatrice! She very promptly and obediently

Ivan Pavlov, John Watson, And B. F. Skinner
Learning Theories are one of the largest branches of modern psychology, branching mainly from the
theory presented by Ivan Pavlov in the early twentieth century. Learning, as defined by the Merriam
Webster dictionary, is described as the modification of a behavioral tendency by experience. In
psychology terms, learning is often known as a lasting change in behavior as a result of experience.
The psychology behind learning became more and more of a focus in the early 1900 s as behaviorism
(the theory that human, and animal, behavior can be explained in terms of conditioning) rose to fame
upon the release of an article written by John Watson. From then on, more and more learning theories
were released. These theories were attempts to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He began to study this further, and would pair the meat powder with various stimuli. After the dogs
were presented with this stimuli, like a bell, and the meat powder multiple times, they would salivate
just to the sound of the bell even if the powder wasn t presented. Pavlov then went on to demonstrate
these stimulus response bonds, which many consider the basic building blocks of learning. He then
spent much of the rest of his career devoted to researching further into this finding. Pavlov called this
classical conditioning, which is more modernly defined as a basic form of learning where one stimulus
or event predicts the occurrence of another stimulus or response. This theory can also be known as
Pavlovian conditioning. In every form of classical conditioning, there some form of stimulus and a
response. The main four are UCS, UCR, CS, and CR. The UCS is known as the unconditioned
stimulus, the UCR is the unconditioned response, the CS is known as the conditioned stimulus, and
the CR is the conditioned response. In this study, the UCS was the food powder, while the UCR was
the salivation. After conditioning took place, he CS became the bell, and the CR was the salivation.
B.F. Skinner and John Watson both branched off of this, shaping their own theories.
Watson theorized that classical conditioning could be applied to all aspects of psychology, saying that
everything from speech to emotion followed the stimulus/response pattern. One

We can find three major character in Shakespearian sonnet. The fair youth, the dark lady and the poet
himself. From sonnets 127 152 Shakespeare mention the dark. Though there is no specific identity of
the dark lady. Some critics said that maybe dark lady s name was Lucy Nego, or Mary Fitton, or
maybe Emilia Lanier. From sonnet 78 86 represents directly poet himself. In sonnet 129,135 136,
Shakespeare strongly allude the relationship of Shakespeare with the dark lady. But the relationship

The vindication of the rights of women, by Mary Wollstonecraft, is a cry for help. Recorded amongst

her existence as a sorrow indignation... Wollstonecraft argued, and she did it very well, that women
are starved of education in order to be trained to focus on their looks for the pleasure of men. She
spilled her sorrows as is told to abandon traits such as having a strong opinion, nobility, or voicing

Norman Rockwell s Artistic Success And Tragic Passing Of...
Norman Rockwell, a name most have heard if not learned, when the topic of art was ever brought up,
was a famous artist and illustrator who depicted the highs and lows of the common man. His art is
loved by many today as it was decades ago. Many have seen his work be it online, at an art museum or
in an art history book and have been intrigued by his art. I will be covering the early life, artistic
success and tragic passing of the great artist, Norman Rockwell.
Born in New York City on February 3 of year 1894, Norman Perceval Rockwell was destined for fame
and great artistry. At the age of 14, Norman already knew what he wanted to be an artist. He was then

It had been Rockwell s dream to do a cover for the Post magazine. Although not having an
appointment, he showed his work to the editor hoping for the best. The editor acknowledged and
accepted Rockwell s two finished works as covers and three other sketches for future covers. His
dream had in fact became a reality and this was just the start of a long relationship Norman would
have with the iconic magazine, a 47 year relationship to be exact. In total, he painted over 320 covers
for the Post. Rockwell s victory with the magazine won him interest by other magazines which in turn
led him to begin selling his paintings and drawings. One of his best and most memorable covers was
the 1927 celebration of Charles Lindbergh s crossing of the Atlantic. Another magazine that he
worked for was Look, which featured his cover capturing the imprint of Neil Armstrong s foot on the
moon s surface after the successful moon landing in 1969.
The 1930s and 40s were the best eras for Rockwell. In 1930, he married a second time to a woman
named Mary Barstow. Mary was a schoolteacher, and together her and Rockwell had three sons:
Jarvis, Peter and Thomas. The family moved over to Arlington, Vermont, in 1939. There was a whole
new and exciting world that was now at Norman s feet that offered the right material for the artist to
pick from. Much of Rockwell s success came from his appreciation for just everyday American
scenes,

A Short Note On Melanoma And Prostate Cancer
Allenmar Sicsic
Fall 2014 Carcinoma of the prostate, commonly known as prostate cancer, is a diagnosis of a
malignant tumor (adenocarcinoma) of the prostate gland (Chabner). The prostate is a significant
muscular organ that belongs to the male reproductive system. Approximately the size of a walnut, the
prostate is located at the base of the bladder and in front of the rectum (Prostate Gland). In conjunction
to the seminal vesicles and the Cowper s glands, the prostate secretes fluids that contain sperm which
is transported into the female reproductive tract for fertilization (Prostate Gland). The vas deferens is a
tube that carries sperm from the testes and secretions from the seminal vesicles to the prostate. After

Unfortunately, prostate cancer symptoms may be asymptomatic during the beginning stages.
Therefore, all males over the age of 50 should have routine physical examinations because it is only
through some or all of the following tests that prostate cancer can be detected early. The first test I will
be discussing is called the Digital Rectal Examination (DRE), which entails the doctor placing a
gloved and lubricated finger into the rectum in order to feel for any lumps in the prostate (Cherath).
Most prostate tumors start in the posterior area of the prostate, hence why the rectum is examined due
to its location being behind the prostate gland. This type of pre screening is less efficient than a PSA
test, however, it can help men who have normal PSA levels and still have tumors. If the doctor feels
there is a need for further testing after a DRE then he/she may request other tests to confirm the
findings. Furthermore, the most common and routine blood test that helps detect prostate cancer is the
Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test. This blood test is used to measure the amounts of PSA
circulating in the blood (Cherath). PSA is a protein made by the cells lining the prostate gland, and
normal levels of this are 4.0 ng/mL and lower.

My Statement Of Purpose For Physics And Physics
In high school, intensely intrigued by the mechanisms and experiments in physics, I regularly took
part in the State Science Exhibitions demonstrating models from the solar oven to spring mass
systems. My passion for Physics and Mathematics spurred me to win awards at State Level
Competitions. It further led me to choose a major in Science during Secondary School and my
undergraduate major in Engineering Physics at the NIT Calicut. My duly qualified academic
performance enabled me to receive the Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste Students for the
full duration of the program (2010 14). The methodical approach I towards learning helped me to
graduate with a degree in first class.
At NITC, the curriculum grounded my knowledge in both theoretical and experimental aspects of

Athenian Women Essay
Athenian Women
Athenian society was very dynamic in many areas while it was strict in regard to the treatment of
women. Although Athenian women were protected by the state and did not know a different way of
living, they were very stifled and restricted. The only exception was slaves, and heteria, prostitutes,
and this was due to the fact that they had no male guardians. Since these women were on there own
they had to take care of themselves, and therefore were independent. In a more recent and modern way
of viewing the role of a woman, independence and freedom to do as one likes is one of the most
important aspects of living. In Athens the wives had none of this freedom and the prostitutes did. Who

But when we come to the age of maturity and awareness, we are thrust out and battered away, far from

Sophocles, Fragment 583 from terus.
A scorned wife spoke this in one of Sophocles lost plays. Sophocles has seized the essence of what it
means to be a woman in Athens at this time. The marriage of an Athenian woman and man is hard to
define exactly because there has not been an exact word translated that is equivalent to the word,
marriage. The Athenians have words that translate as physical acts for a marriage for the sake of
having a child, they also have words that translate as cohabit or live together. This leads to the
conclusion that our traditional connotation of marriage as a bond is not the way it was in Athens. The
reasons for a man and a woman to be joined in marriage were nor for love, as we would expect, it
would be for profitable and more pragmatic reasons. Usually most beneficial to the male s in the bride

was decided for them in terms of a husband. ...A husband normally addresses his wife as woman. The

Political Campaign Analysis
Political campaigns are very significant in American politics and elections. They are the periods
before the electorate makes political decisions. Citizen attention towards politics intensifies as the date
of the election draws near. Campaign systems are the primary strategy used by candidates and parties
to communicate politically with citizens. US political campaign systems are informative and provide a
chance for candidates to notify the electorate about their ideologies and policies. Past campaign
strategy incorporates a strong effort to establish effective campaign organizations throughout the
country. Mobilization is the key to having motivated citizenry, and for citizens to give back, vote, or
voice their opinion on that specific candidate. Several factors go into motivating certain groups of
individuals over others to play a part in the election process. Mobilization in previous presidential

Urban Dwellers affected by Race
There have been many articles published about the transformation of cities in regards to industrial
improvements, communities blooming with mass migrations, and standards of living. A number of
different cultures have migrated to rural and urban populations and among those mass migrations
there were African Americans. Although immigrants went through hardships such as harsh living
conditions and low status, they didn t have to go through as much trouble as African Americans did.
African Americans who moved into the city were not on top of the priority list to most. They were not
given the time of day to their needs. Race affected these urban dwellers because of discrimination,
living conditions, and inequality. The color of their skin, regardless of abolishment of slavery and
social and economic well being was the only obstacle they faced every day to achieve the same
opportunities as the whites did and other immigrants. George Edmund Haynes article, Conditions
Among Negroes in the Cities, investigates reason and explains why certain situation were often
ignored, He states, There is growing up in the cities of America a distinct Negro world, isolated from
many of the impulses of the common life and little known and understood by the white world about it
(110). Flaws of their culture and color of their skin affected African Americans as urban dwellers. As

In early January of 2013 legislators came up with a very way of catching pythons that are loose and
out of the National Park, it is called the 2013 Python Challenge . There is a hunt for Burmese pythons
in the Everglades, this contest started in the later part of January and will end the 18th of February.
Nearly 1,600 hunters from 38 states, Washington D.C. and Canada, took part in the challenge, which
offered cash prizes (Tuffley). The Challenge lasted for a month in which 68 pythons were caught.
A$1500 reward was given to the hunter who caught the most pythons and $1000 for the hunter who
caught the longest. As of the 11th of January there has been 11 pythons caught in the Everglades and
are being kept at the University of Florida; until, the contest is over. There is a prize for the longest
and the biggest snake caught. (Greenwood). According to the website, the hunt is being conducted to
raise public awareness about Burmese pythons and how this invasive species is a threat to the
Everglades ecosystem, including native wildlife. (Surely, the appeal of saying that one has
successfully captured and killed a gigantic invasive death snake should not be discounted, either.)
(Greenwood). Although Burmese Pythons are from Southern and Southeast Asia, they were brought
here as a trade for exotic pets. They can live up to 25 years; grow to be 25 to 26 feet long; weigh up to
200 pounds or more. Most people see them as a threat to the

The Romani People or Gypsies
There are many types of people in the world who do not have specific states that they call their homes.
Many people like this have fought and still continue to fight to make it so they have their own place to
call home. An example of these people are the Romani people also formerly known as the Gypsies.
The Romani people are associated with what is called a stateless nation. A stateless nation is defined
as a national group that aspires to become a nation state, but lacks the territorial means to do so. The
Romani people are nomadic people which causes them to be all over the world. Because they are
known to be all over the world they don t have their own state where they can practice their historical
cultures, their cultures, and their political organization/ government they follow.
Traditionally the Romani people are nomadic people and are sound on every continent. They are also
called The Roma and in English known as the Gypsies because of the inaccurate idea that they came
from a little Egypt. The Romani descended from people who emigrated from the Indian Sub continent.
The Romani blood lines have been traced and found they are closely related to those of South
Himalayan Tribes and the genetics of them including mutations they have are only found among
Indians and Pakistanis. According to their history it is believed that they came from NW India and
when they left went to Persia around the 11th century. Later they moved northward and westward and

Short Story Chapter 1
Jared woke up feeling stiff and sore. His throat hurt and his neck felt tender. He slowly sat up, moving
carefully, he realized that he had an orgasm when Jensen claimed him. He looked around his small
room and was thankful that Jensen had left. Oh, God. Jared moaned into his hands. Gathering his
courage up, Jared stood grabbed his packed bag, and pulled out fresh clothes and went to take a bath.
He felt better once he was clean and not sticky. He walked into the kitchen where Jensen was sitting at
the large wooden block table. Jared stopped at the door way lowering his head. Good, you re up. Meet

dark hair man emerged from another room. Whoa, Lord Ackles, who would have guessed. Mr.
Sheppard. I m here to register my omega. The alpha behind the counter looked Jared up and down.
Well, they re making big these days. Alright, the paperwork please. Fine, fine. The alpha said as he
reached under the counter and pulled out several sheets of paper and inkwell and a pen. Jensen filled
out the papers; Mr. Sheppard stared at Jared. Jared found himself sliding up closer to Jensen. Jensen
pushed the paperwork towards the other alpha. Does your omega have a surname? Jensen turned to

Branches of Government and UCC
BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT AND UCC 1.FLOWCHART OF BRANCHES OF
GOVERNMENT The government is a single term yet comprised of several different components that
collaborate to run the business of the country by making, stating, implementing and ensuring law. The
US government has three branches namely legislation, executive and judiciary (Three Branches of
Government, 2008). 2. DESIGNATE TWO UCC CLAUSES THAT ALIGN WITH EACH BRANCH
The term UCC stands for Uniform Commercial Code that was published in 1952 (Uniform
Commercial Code, 2013). The code tells how to correspond the sales law and other business and
commercial transactions in America. There are two clauses of codes that deal with each branch at one
level or the other: a. If the court as a matter of law finds the contract or any clause of the contract to
have been unconscionable at the time it was made the court may refuse to enforce the contract or it
may enforce the remainder of the contract without the unconscionable clause, or it may so limit the
application of any unconscionable clause as to avoid any unconscionable result (What Is the Uniform
Commercial Code (UCC)? n.a). b. When it is claimed or appears to the court that the contract or any
clause thereof may be unconscionable the parties shall be afforded a reasonable opportunity to present
evidence as to its commercial setting, purpose, and effect to aid the court in making the determination

The Marbles And The Parthenon
For nearly 2500 years the Parthenon, located in Athens, Greece has manifested the ancient Greek
notions of justice, freedom and artistic excellence. One of the most well known artifacts that were
once on the Parthenon s exterior were the Elgin Marbles. These sacred marbles were crafted by the
well regarded Phidias, consisting of an extensive amount of Greek ideologies and exceptional artistic
impressions. The Elgin marbles were taken from the Parthenon by Lord Elgin and brought to Britain.
Hundreds of years later, the Greeks claim these marbles were once their prized possession, and

migrated artifacts, these individuals have grown to become well recognized artists and writers from
the influence of the Elgin marbles. (Hitchens, Christopher, Robert Browning, and Graham Binns. The

The Elgin marbles were anticipating 3 possible outcomes; destruction by natural causes, destruction

preventing any possible destruction. Lord Elgin did not only legally retrieve the marbles but he had
entirely good intentions as he was clearly captivated by classical Greek design. At the time, Greece

Literary Analysis Of The Haunted Boy
Literary Analysis The Haunted Boy
The setting is used by the author in stories to display the mood of the scene. Specific details bring up
certain moods for the characters and the reader. For example, when talking about a warm, sunny day,
the reader can infer that the scene is going to be happy and there is going to be no misfortunate event
that happens. Carson Smith McCullers uses the setting in her short story The Haunted Boy to display
the different moods of the main character Hugh. The settings in the story help show how
uncomfortable Hugh is in the house after a past experience and shows how happy he is outside when
he remembers happy memories.
The beginning of the story starts out with one of few happy settings. The front yard was one of the
only places that brought happy feelings to the story. McCullers short story starts out by describing the
day having sunshine on a mid April afternoon and the front lawn being green (page 675). These
descriptions allow the reader to think warm and colorful thoughts. The story then goes to talk about
how the boys are running outside in the warm. Hugh race up the sidewalk, and John followed him.
They finished the front steps with two bounds, and the door slammed after them (page 675). This
shows how the boys are having fun and enjoying each others company. Finally, the front yard is the
place that Hugh remembers some of his fond memories of his mother. Sometimes she would be out
fooling with the border of spring flowers the candytuft, the sweet William, the lobelias (she had taught
him the names)... (page 675). From this explanation, the reader can relate to the character thinking
about different memories that they may have that bring happy thoughts to mind.
One of the only places in the house that brought a comfortable feeling to Hugh was the kitchen. The
kitchen is described as bright and clean and the best room in the house (page 676). In the kitchen,
there are fresh towels and clean dishes. This statement gives you the feeling that everything is going
well in the house and there is nothing wrong. The kitchen is also the only place in the house that made
Hugh feel comfortable and safe (Page 677), except on this particular day when there was no note from

Universal Basic Income Analysis
Implementing a universal basic income in Canada would give disadvantaged groups greater equality
in society by giving them more power and freedom in their lives. Because of its unconditionally, it

They believe that basic income would take the place of governments current state of paternalism, it
would be more cost effective than the welfare state and it limits the power of the government because
the people would have more money to do with as they choose. Citizens can buy property and invest
their money without having to go through lengthy governmental processes. This creates a limitation of
governments reach into citizen s personal affairs and gives them the negative liberty that libertarians
desire. It would allow citizens to be free from governmental interference in their everyday lives
because people could make their own decisions on how to deal with their property. The ideology
believes that liberty was negative liberty freedom from coercion or invasion of the government and
this leads them to support basic income because it creates more negative freedom by distancing people
from the government. People can do what they want in their personal or work life and they are free
from interference because of the unconditional income that cannot be taken away. This income can be

They have done so by creating mutually beneficial relationships with a number of entertainment video

obtain the content and use it, but also what customers choose what to watch. Netflix s leading
competitive advantage lies within their unique software. The software takes what a customer has
watched or rated and based upon that information builds a list of suggested titles similar to ones they
have just watched. While other companies like Blockbuster has transitioned into the rent by mail niche
category that Netflix had started, no other company has customer profiling software quite like Netflix.
It is continuously updating their smart selection technology to keep up with customer needs. Over the
past few years the film rental market underwent a major shift. The in store rental market plummeted
by nearly $2 million, while vending machine rentals increased by about ten times the amount and by

Blockbuster and Hollywood Video had to either restructure and make a complete business model shift
or face bankruptcy. Meanwhile, the increases for by mail rentals and VOD subscription, both of which

Mt. St. Helen
On May 18, 1980, 35 years prior to today, a quake struck underneath the north face of Mount St.
Helens in Washington state, setting off the greatest avalanche in written history and a significant
volcanic emission that dispersed powder over twelve states. The sudden horizontal impact, heard
many miles away, removed 1,300 feet off the highest point of the volcano, sending shockwaves and
pyroclastic streams over the encompassing scene, leveling backwoods, softening snow and ice, and
creating monstrous mudflows. Fifty seven individuals lost their lives in the tragedy (Grisham).
Mt. St. Helen s was arguably a frontrunner amongst the most beautiful stratovolcanoes in the Cascade

impact that crushed the northern flank of the fountain of liquid magma, straightening a great many

exposed to a gigantic flotsam and jetsam torrential slide, trailed by the evidence of various lahars and

William Shakespeare s The Twelfth Night original text and Trevor Nunn s filmed version were both
well crafted works highlighting the director s point of view. Shakespeare s original work introduced
the reader to a worded text that would have numerous embedded narratives which help deepen the
interest in the plot moving forward. For instance, light vs. dark, good vs. evil, and perfect vs.
imperfect scenarios were given specific characteristics throughout the film version eloquently
allowing Shakespeare s original text objectives to move forward without a wrinkle. Nunn allowed his

Robert Smithson Plural Jetty Essay
Robert Smithson s Spiral Jetty is a 3ft. 6 in. x 15 ft. x 1,500 ft. Earthwork located in Great Salt Lake,
Utah. It was created in April 1970. Located where the rails of the first transcontinental railroad met, it
sits near the Golden Spike monument; making it an actual landscape. It s a giant counterclockwise
spiral sculpture made of black rock, earth, algae, and salt crystals. It is said that Smithson used dump
trucks and bulldozers to haul in 6,650 tons of earth and rocks to complete the Spiral Jetty. In a 32

rights, before completing it. Virginia Dwan Gallery of New York gave Smithson a $9,000 grant for a
part of the Spiral Jetty s construction. The rest was financed over a 20 years lease at payments of $100
annually. The first phase of building the Spiral Jetty took about 6 days to complete. Smithson was not
completely satisfied with it initially and spent another 3 days changing the shape. 7,000 tons of rock
had to be moved during these 3 additional days of work. Smithson died 3 years after completing the

Daniel was lucky, he was servant of god, when he met difficult god will help him. When he was thrown into the den of lions, god sent his angel to help him out of the lions who has shut the lions mouths so that no hurt was found in him. There is no doubt that Daniel is lucky for he is god s servant. He is unique. The message that these two writers want to get across is that there is a gender reversal in American education and how this may affect society and our nation. Historically males have been the primary beneficiaries of education. It s a man s world, men are the creators of civilizations, laws and education in America. Men have created a system where they can be cater too in every way possible. Men usually have first pick of what they want to do with their life, they tend to have a choice whether to attend college. Woman before did not have much of a choice to attend college to seek a career, woman have usually gotten marry and raised kids. Male and female have different brain activity and also very different ways of learning. When it comes to teaching there needs to be a more specific study, to come with a more evolved teaching criteria. Lastly Conlin says A new world has opened up for girls, but unless a symmetrical effort is made to help boys find their footing, it may turn out that it s a lonely place to be. Good morning year twelve English and Mrs Broadway, Our cohort is nearing the end of its secondary education and therefore it is important that we reflect on the ways in which it has shaped our attitudes values and beliefs. These texts express various ideologies, some of which have left a lasting impression on our attitudes, values and beliefs. The resettlement of refugees in Australia is a controversial topic; many people believe that they come here to commit crime, change our culture and steal our jobs. The Happiest Refugee has enhanced my belief that refugees should be allowed to live in Australia. I believe that refugees are here to escape war and persecution; they are not criminals, nor do they want to change our culture or steal our jobs. Refugees are generally grateful for their new lives in Australia and they embrace our culture. The Happiest Refugee is a source of evidence that supports this. The Happiest Refugee discusses various concepts including the effects of war, the trauma that refugees experience, their desire to contribute to society and our negative attitudes towards them. The second Indochina war occurred because the communist state of North Vietnam wanted political control over South Vietnam. Between 1955 and 1973, the USA was involved in South Vietnam s defensive effort. In 1973 however, the US army left because too much money was being invested into the war and defensive attempts proved futile. As a result, South Vietnam was left completely defenceless. After the war, South Vietnamese soldiers and their families were captured by the North Vietnamese communists and held in labour camps. Creation of Biofuel Some might think that biofuels are new but they have been in use ever since man discovered fire. Wood is a solid biofuel used for cooking and heating. The types of biofuels are solid gas and liquid. The most common is liquid made popular by the automobile industry as a source of fuel. Biofuel is a fuel that contained energy from once living organisms. Biofuel is created by biomass conversion. Biomass is recently deceased organisms. These recently deceased organisms are converted into a substance called biomass that contains the energy. The biomass will be converted into a fuel using one of these methods: thermal conversion, chemical conversion and biochemical conversion. Thermal conversion is also known as thermal depolymerization, a process using high heat to produce biofuel. Chemical conversion uses various chemicals to produce biofuel. Finally, biochemical conversion uses enzymes, microbes, and catalysts to make biofuel. Generations of Biofuel The two generations of biofuels. Skinner Learning Theories are one of the largest branches of modern psychology, branching mainly from the theory presented by Ivan Pavlov in the early twentieth century. Learning, as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, is described as the modification of a behavioral tendency by experience. In psychology terms, learning is often known as a lasting change in behavior as a result of experience. The psychology behind learning became more and more of a focus in the early 1900 s as behaviorism (the theory that human, and animal, behavior can be explained in terms of conditioning) rose to fame upon the release of an article written by John Watson. After the dogs were presented with this stimuli, like a bell, and the meat powder multiple times, they would salivate just to the sound of the bell even if the powder wasn t presented. Pavlov then went on to demonstrate these stimulus response bonds, which many consider the basic building blocks of learning. He then spent much of the rest of his career devoted to researching further into this finding. Pavlov called this classical conditioning, which is more modernly defined as a basic form of learning where one stimulus or event predicts the occurrence of another stimulus or response. This theory can also be known as Pavlovian conditioning. In every form of classical conditioning, there some form of stimulus and a response. The main four are UCS, UCR, CS, and CR. The UCS is known as the unconditioned stimulus, the UCR is the unconditioned response, the CS is known as the conditioned stimulus, and the CR is the conditioned response. In this study, the UCS was the food powder, while the UCR was the salivation. After conditioning took place, he CS became the bell, and the CR was the salivation. B.F. Skinner and John Watson both branched off of this, shaping their own theories. Watson theorized that classical conditioning could be applied to all aspects of psychology, saying that everything from speech to emotion followed the stimulus/response pattern. One ... Unfortunately, prostate cancer symptoms may be asymptomatic during the beginning stages. Therefore, all males over the age of 50 should have routine physical examinations because it is only through some or all of the following tests that prostate cancer can be detected early. The first test I will be discussing is called the Digital Rectal Examination (DRE), which entails the doctor placing a gloved and lubricated finger into the rectum in order to feel for any lumps in the prostate (Cherath). Most prostate tumors start in the posterior area of the prostate, hence why the rectum is examined due to its location being behind the prostate gland. This type of pre screening is less efficient than a PSA test, however, it can help men who have normal PSA levels and still have tumors. If the doctor feels there is a need for further testing after a DRE then he/she may request other tests to confirm the findings. Furthermore, the most common and routine blood test that helps detect prostate cancer is the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test. This blood test is used to measure the amounts of PSA circulating in the blood (Cherath). PSA is a protein made by the cells lining the prostate gland, and normal levels of this are 4.0 ng/mL and lower. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Literary Analysis Of The Haunted Boy Literary Analysis The Haunted Boy The setting is used by the author in stories to display the mood of the scene. Specific details bring up certain moods for the characters and the reader. For example, when talking about a warm, sunny day, the reader can infer that the scene is going to be happy and there is going to be no misfortunate event that happens. Carson Smith McCullers uses the setting in her short story The Haunted Boy to display the different moods of the main character Hugh. The settings in the story help show how uncomfortable Hugh is in the house after a past experience and shows how happy he is outside when he remembers happy memories. The beginning of the story starts out with one of few happy settings. The front yard was one of the only places that brought happy feelings to the story. McCullers short story starts out by describing the day having sunshine on a mid April afternoon and the front lawn being green (page 675). These descriptions allow the reader to think warm and colorful thoughts. The story then goes to talk about how the boys are running outside in the warm. Hugh race up the sidewalk, and John followed him. They finished the front steps with two bounds, and the door slammed after them (page 675). This shows how the boys are having fun and enjoying each others company. Finally, the front yard is the place that Hugh remembers some of his fond memories of his mother. Sometimes she would be out fooling with the border of spring flowers the candytuft, the sweet William, the lobelias (she had taught him the names)... (page 675). From this explanation, the reader can relate to the character thinking about different memories that they may have that bring happy thoughts to mind. One of the only places in the house that brought a comfortable feeling to Hugh was the kitchen. The kitchen is described as bright and clean and the best room in the house (page 676). In the kitchen, there are fresh towels and clean dishes. This statement gives you the feeling that everything is going well in the house and there is nothing wrong. The kitchen is also the only place in the house that made Hugh feel comfortable and safe (Page 677), except on this particular day when there was no note from his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
