##timum Imperatures Affect The Activity Of Amylase
Abstract:
This experiment s objective was to determine the optimal temperature for amylase from two different
sources and to analyze how different temperatures affect the activity of the enzyme amylase. The
chosen fungal amylase was Aspergillus oryzae and chosen bacteria was Bacillus licheniformis to be
analyzed.
Six groups performed the experiment with each member assigned a different temperature. Four test
tubes of bacteria, fungal, and starch were obtained and each label and assigned with different
temperatures of 0°, 20°, 60°, and 85° Celsius. All test tubes were timed correctly and recorded
immediately to prevent and minimize any possible inaccuracies. Each solution was taken out of the
temperature it was in after two minutes and then mixed with iodine to distinguish the color that forms.
Once the first wells were filled, the starch solutions were mixed with the amylase to be able to monitor
the starch solution and the rate at which the enzyme would break it down.
After analyzing the data, the evidence showed that the optimal temperature for fungal, Aspergillus
oryzae, was around 65° Celsius because the iodine solution s color was lightest (green) in that
temperature. The bacteria, Bacillus licheniformis, optimal temperature was between 65 and 85°
Celsius because it was at its lightest color (yellow) when mixed with the iodine solution.
Introduction:
This experiment was designed to show how different temperatures affect the activity of the enzyme
amylase and to

Cummins Diesel Engine Essay
The Cummins diesel engine was manufactured in the year 1919 by its creator Clessie Cummins. The
Cummins was put in a variety of vehicles and the most common are in the dodge ram 2500, 3500,
4500, and 5500 series rams. It is also put into more heavy duty trucks such as Peterbilt semis. The
reason people choose Cummins over Chevy s Duramax or Ford s Powerstroke is because Cummins
are built to last longer meaning they can go more hours without maintenance. The Cummins diesel
engines have several different designs, and a number of different models, and assembling one takes
money, time, effort, and knowledge. The Cummins diesel engines has several different designs and
models of engines from 5.9 liters in 1989, to the modern day 6.7 liter engines.

The For Intellectual Property Law Essay
Before college, when I heard about lawyers I only ever thought of one thing, the bar exam, and how
awful it must be to prepare and take such a test. Now, moving steadily through the senior year of my
undergraduate degree, my aspirations are quite different than what they were before college. With my
changing goals, being a lawyer is now a profession that I wish to be a part of in the not too distant
future. Specifically, I am aspiring to work in Intellectual Property Law. This form of law deals with
protecting tangible and intangible creations of clients. These tangible and intangible creations range
from inventions to symbols and often require being an expert in specific fields, such as industries, the
arts, or science (Wilson, 2016).
In order to assess a potential employee s attributes, a future employer will administer pre employment
screenings where the person s knowledge, skills, and abilities will be assessed in order to determine
their effectiveness for Intellectual Property Law.
In order to perform effectively being a lawyer specializing in Intellectual Property Law, will require
that I first graduate with a four year degree. The degree with which one takes is not specific, in fact,
law schools admit individuals with degrees from almost every field of study
(LearnHowToBecome.org, 2016). The next step is going through law school which typically takes
three years. While at law school, studying a curriculum specific to Intellectual Property Law would be
beneficial,

4. 1 Functional Classifications Of Functional Functions
4.1 Functional classification of dysregulated proteins
It was shown that MPS VII is characterized by accumulation of ubiquitin and neurofilament, but not
PHF τ, α synuclein or apoptosis [20]. Similarly, significant alterations in the ubiquitin proteasome
system (UPS), but not proteins associated with apoptosis or PHF τ and α synuclein, were identified in
this study. Previous transcriptomic and proteomic analyses of MPS VII mouse brain identified many
dysregulated proteins involved in metabolism and cytoskeleton [21,22]. Additionally, these studies
found that neuroinflammation is also upregulated, but not to a large extent. Similar results were
observed in this study, indicating the reliability of the proteomics approach. We also examined ...

Dysregulation of cytoskeletal genes has also been seen in MPS I mouse brains [4], MPS IIIB mouse
brains [26] and MPS VII dog hearts [27]. Additionally, low density lipoprotein related protein 1B
(LRP1B), dynamin 1 (DMN1) and dynamin related protein 1 (DNM1L), which are involved in the
process of endocytosis, are downregulated. Vesicle associated membrane protein 2 (VAMP2) is
involved in the targeting and/or fusion of transport vesicles to their target membrane [28]. These
results further suggest impaired lysosomal membrane trafficking pathways in MPS VII.
Based on previous reports and results in this study, we hypothesize that GAG accumulation leads to
alterations in the cytoskeletal system and thereby impairs lysosomal membrane pathways including
endocytosis, exocytosis, autophagy and vesicle transport. Notably, endocytosis defects in brain
endothelial cells may contribute to low transcytosis, making enzyme replacement therapy more
difficult to achieve neurological benefits. Therefore, targeting specific pathways involved in
transcytosis may be an effective strategy to enhance enzyme delivery to the brain in lysosomal
diseases including MPS VII.
4.1.2 Proteostasis
Many neurodegenerative diseases share a common molecular signature: disruption of proteostasis
[29]. This often manifests as an accumulation of ubiquitylated proteins, with evidence for a robust
contribution to

Chemistry Vitamin C
tamin C, ascorbic acid, is one of the most important vitamins found in citrus juices, including orange
juice.
Often projects find that orange juices made from frozen concentrated orange juice (FCOJ) have the
highest vitamin C levels as compared to freshly squeezed or not from concentrate (NFC) juices. This
is probably due to the fact that vitamin C degrades over time in fresh and NFC, but doesn t degrade as
much in FCOJ due to it being frozen until reconstitution. If one is comparing a NFC product that has
been stored for about 3 weeks versus a newly reconstituted FCOJ, the FCOJ would almost certainly
have a higher vitamin C concentration. Also another thing to consider is if the FCOJ is reconstituted to
the same strength as fresh or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However, pasteurized orange juice is processed based on fruit availability at the time, and this could
reflect the natural variability of vitamin C throughout the growing season for the fruit. Pasteurized
orange juice showed higher levels of vitamin C during the months of December through March, when
vitamin C rich Hamlin oranges were a major contributor to the orange juice market. Samples collected
between May and July generally had lower values of vitamin C. This probably reflected the use of
larger amounts of Valencia oranges which have lower amounts of vitamin C of the three major Florida
sweet oranges, said Lee. the current study did not take into account any changes in vitamin C levels
that could have occurred during marketing. Vitamin C retention will also vary depending on the length
of storage time and the type of container in which a product is stored
BACKGROUND INFO
Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a water soluble vitamin. Unlike most mammals, humans do
not have the ability to make their own vitamin C. Therefore, we must obtain vitamin C through our
diet.
Function
Vitamin C is required for the synthesis of collagen, an important structural component of blood
vessels, tendons, ligaments, and bone. Vitamin C also plays an important role in the synthesis of the
neurotransmitter,

Nathaniel Cole Research Paper
From 1919 to 1965, a man lived and forever changed the music industry to become what it has
become today with his amazing piano playing and smooth voice. The man s name was Nathaniel Cole,
but he is better known as Nat King Cole. From Cole s early jazz music in his early life and his singing
in the rest of his life advanced music in jazz and pop. With his great influence and legacy in music,
many people would use the name of one of Cole s most popular songs, Unforgettable , to describe the
man himself. On March 17, 1919, Nathaniel Coles, son of Edward and Perlina Coles, was born in

Cole s great success as a singer, it left little space for the King Cole Trio. This was also the case with
his wife Nadine, due to his two lives in show business led to Cole filing for divorce with Nadine

house in Los Angeles, and Cole married Maria Antoinette Ellington who was a jazz singer. Together
with his second wife, Cole would have five children; two of his children were adopted (Nat King
Cole, ABC CLIO). Soon after, Cole s song Nature Boy would become a tremendous hit and transform
him into a household name; with the additional fame, Cole left the King Cole Trio in 1951 (Nat King

became the first African American to host a variety program named The King Cole Show; the show
would last one year due to the lack of a nationwide sponsor, due to the fact that, even though the show
received good ratings, no one was willing to associate themselves with a black host. Due to the good

Similarly, Eytukan the clan leader of the Na vi also shared the same sentiment who regarded Jake

Scaffolding And Scaffolding Beams On The Walls Of The Cave
Scaffolding could be considered an art in the right eyes, it is over 17,000 years old and around since
the oldest civilizations. The scale of the paintings suggests that the artists must have used ladders and
scaffolding. Archaeologists discovered sockets for scaffolding beams in the walls of the cave.
(Encarta, 2003). Scaffolding is full of culture and is used by everyone in some way. There s many
different styles, but there s usually one uniform way now with steel scaffolding. I really chose this
topic for my senior project, because of my interest i have with scaffolding. I began working with
scaffolding over the summer as a small job to make money, but looking back at it now I really enjoyed
doing it. Working over the summer interested me in not only the basics of building, but the history that
is behind it. Over all I really thought that this was going to be very boring and tedious, which I was
not a wrong assumption. This project added to everything else i have to do is a wonderful way to learn
about responsibility. Ultimately I wanted to just skip over this as best as possible, but no way to dodge
it now. As I continue to go through I notice that it s not easy to find reliable sources for my subject. I
enjoy scaffolding but, it was a mistake picking this. I have no idea what I m going to do.
Scaffolding was hugely important for the egyptians. Without the help of scaffolding, their construction
jobs would be extremely difficult. In Herodotus Description of

Role Of Gods In The Odyssey
The Odyssey details Odysseus arduous return to his homeland. Ten years have passed since the end of
the Trojan war and Odysseus, the most cursed man alive , has been missing and presumed dead by
many. (10.79). Throughout the novel, gods play a significant role in the fate of Odysseus and other
characters. The extent of the gods role though is not unqualified, contrary to Telemachus suggestion
that, Zeus is to blame./He deals to each and every/ laborer on this earth whatever doom he pleases
(1.401 403). While Zeus does have this power, his description of how humans meet their fate is more
accurately depicted throughout the novel. As he aptly points out, from us alone, the say, come all their
miseries, yes,/ but they themselves, with their own reckless ways,/ compound their pain beyond their
proper share (1.38 52). While the gods do doom certain mortals, many of these mortals exacerbate
their ill fate by making rash decisions and ignoring the gods warnings. The gods are also not always
disrupting mortals lives; they often aid mortals in need. In fact, mortals who effectively court the favor
of the gods often benefit greatly. While the gods powers are unquestionable, no one god s power is
insurmountable. Gods can be outsmarted and their wrath escaped. The Odyssey, in congruence with
Zeus statement, ultimately, portrays human freedom as existent, but limited.
While mortals do not unjustly complain about their fates, they fail to acknowledge that they are also
responsible for their ill fate, as mortals themselves, possess a sizable degree of control. There is little
doubt that Odysseus and his crew are unlucky, but had it not been for their brash decisions they would
have reached Ithaca much sooner. After Odysseus cunningly escapes the Cyclops, Polyphemos, his
pride gets the best of him, as taunts the Polyphemos proclaiming, if any man on the face of the earth
should ask you/ who blinded you, shamed you so say Odysseus/ raider of cities, he gouged out your
eye (9.559 561). Odysseus arrogance furthers his misfortune, since Polyphemos is Poseidon s son.
Polyphemos proceeds to ask his father to never allow Odysseus to return and if Odysseus returns
home that it be well over due and without his crew;

Judicial Politics and Behavior
Judicial Politics And Behavior YourFirstName YourLastName University title Q.1 Firing or sacking is
an informal word for dismissal which is termination of employment by employer against the

They are called dinosaurs or inept human resource administrators. They are mainly racist and un

Consistency in the documentation is key (Stephen, 2009). Harmony between the employer s reason for
why the firing took place and the documentation on the employee s work history can mean the
difference between a simple parting of ways and a prolonged and messy legal battle, and employment
attorneys know this. If an ex employee s lawyer, looking for evidence of a wrongful termination, sees
a lack of consistency in the employee s personnel files or a lack or records at all, employers should
consider that blood on the water. Another very important consideration is whether an employee slated
for possible termination is a member of a protected class. Federal law prohibits discrimination based
on a number of factors such as race, color, religion, national origin, sex, pregnancy, age, disability, or
citizenship.State and local laws also can provide additional protection to employees. For example, no
federal law currently protects against discrimination based on sexual orientation but a large number of
states do. State by state comparison of 50 employment laws in all 50 states, including sexual
orientation discrimination, final paycheck, unemployment compensation, and noncompete
agreements. Another very important consideration is

The Three Branches Of Congress
The United States government is comprised of three branches; executive, legislative and judicial. Of
these branches it is said that the President, under the executive branch, has the most power. Congress
as part of the legislative branch, however according to the text, American Government Institutions and
Policies by James Wilson, John Dilulio, and Meena Bose, to the Framers of the Constitution, the
bicameral (two chamber) Congress was the first branch. They expected Congress to wield most of the
national government s powers...and [have] the ultimate authority to declare war (p. 303). However, as
we know the commander in chief (the President) has the authority to declare war, and can be
considered as the central figure in American politics . Coincidentally, the relationship between
Congress and the President, expected by the Framers of the Constitution, is seemingly different than
what they originally had in mind. The dynamic of both entities have shifted over the years; especially
in reference to how the legislative branch operates. Most contemporary Americans and many experts,
however, think of Congress not as the first branch but as the broken branch, unable to address the
nation s most pressing domestic, economic, and international problems in an effective way; unduly
responsive to powerful organized special interests; awash in nonstop campaign fundraising and other
activities that many believe border on political corruption; and unlikely to fix itself through real
reforms (p.303). The power and authority of the United States governmental branches has shifted

This figure likely includes the industry s whole span from mega events such as the Pan Am Games, to
small scale corporate and personal events. On nation level research firm IBIS World estimated earlier
this year that the Canadian event planning and trade show sectors would generate $1 billion in revenue
in 2014 (Trade Shows Event ..., 2014). This marked an increase of 2.2% over the previous year,
however the company noted the industry s success was heavily based on corporate spending and the
state of the economy (Trade Shows Event ..., 2014). This alludes to the fact that many organizations
likely see spending on event management as non essential, meaning event management firms may
need to heavily stress their value proposition.
As stated, while Grandezvous does operate in the event management industry as a whole they are
largely focused on the promotion of events on web 2.0 applications. Therefore social media
engagement and advertising applies directly to the business in which they operate. Social media is

leaves fell. The wind smoothed his face, making his nose and cheeks a bright shade of pink. He did
not care though, he loved the cold.
The sound of slightly rushing water could be heard from nearby. Noah looked up and around to see a

Meanwhile, Noah was finding different ways to get across the river on this branch. He thought, and
Noah thought hard. He looked up slightly to see a giant rock, it was slightly bigger than Noah s tiny

Now what are you trying to do? Don t you know you re going to fail at this too? Effar asked, not too

Noah ignored Effar and kept tying the vines together, making a fairy long rope. Noah tied one end of
the rope to about the middle of the tree branch. He then pulled as hard as he could and watched as the

locking the rope in place. Then he tied a few big knots and began to climb the tree again.

Questions On Learning Objectives And Outcomes
LESSON 6: OVERRIDING METHODS LEARNING OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES
Introduction Final variables and methods Final classes Finalizer methods INTRODUCTION In JAVA,
method inheritance is used for defining and using methods repeatedly in subclasses without defining
methods again and again in every subclass. Sometimes, it is required for an object to respond the same
method but have different behavior when the method is called. This is achieved by defining a subclass
method that has the same name, arguments and return type as the method in the superclass. This is
termed as overriding the method in JAVA. So, when the method is called, the subclass method is
invoked and executed rather than superclass method. The rules for method overriding are summarized
below: The argument list should be exactly same as that of the overridden method. The return type
should be the same or should be a subtype of the return type declared in the original overridden
method in the superclass. The access level cannot be more restrictive than the overridden method s
access level. Instance methods can be overridden only if they are inherited by the subclass. A method
declared final cannot be overridden. A method declared static cannot be overridden but can be re
declared. If a method cannot be inherited, then it cannot be overridden. A subclass within the same
package as the instance s superclass can override any superclass method that is not declared private or
final. A

Chaos In Hamlet Essay
When together with forms, moods, [and] shapes of grief, Hamlet performs irrational actions that cost
the Kingdom of Denmark to lose its order (1.2.82 84). Shakespeare s Hamlet allows the reader to visit
the chaotic world of Hamlet and see how he deals with chaos within the kingdom. The play begins
with the death of Hamlet s father. The reader later finds out that Claudius, Hamlet s stepfather, was the
the murderer. Shakespeare s stylistic choice establishes chaos within the Kingdom of Denmark, this
affects multiple characters as they try to manipulate, deceive, and outwit their enemies. According to

Claudius manipulates Hamlet s words and carefully constructs his speeches in front of the people of
Denmark. Claudius recognizes that Hamlet is causing chaos within the kingdom, so in an attempt to
maintain order, he sends Hamlet off to England where it would be unfortunate if he died. Claudius, in
desperation, orders Hamlet to go to England where to thine own peace, his death [will be called an]
accident[al] tragedy (4.7.61 68). This action taken by Claudius causes more chaos, especially when
Hamlet finds out his plans to behead him. As a result, Hamlet changes the orders in the letter from
Claudius to where Claudius s helpers die instead. Another example, Polonius, a sponge of Claudius,
spies on Hamlet and Gertrude s conversation. As a result Hamlet stabs Polonius hiding behind the
curtain, and he is dead for a ducant (3.4.24). This symbolizes how much of a sponge Polonius was
toward Claudius, and in the end it ended up costing him his own life because of greed for money. In
Claudius s attempts to maintain order, he fails to realize that his intentions of covering up his sins

transnationality of American culture in general and American literature in particular came into
consideration (Giles 62). In his article, Paul Giles appears as a supporter of the transnationalism. Giles
claims that both American culture and American literature have always been force fields of

The Road Not Taken By Robert Frost Analysis
Life is difficult because no one can be sure if the choice they make will actually lead the outcome they
wished for. The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, one of the most recognizable poems in American
literature, speaks to choices people face in their life. The speaker has to make a right choice for him,
that will lead to the outcome of being what he really wants to be. The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
uses symbolism, imagery, personification, and metaphor, to explain its theme that choices made by the
one s strong wish of what one really wants to be, will ultimately lead to the desired outcome. The
poem uses symbols to indicate the choices that the speaker faces in life. The two diverged road
symbolize the two significant choices that diverge the future of speaker s life. The fork in the road
indicates the point in the speaker s life where he can go no farther without making a decision that
takes him down one path and does not allow him to take the other. The yellow wood (1) indicates fall
when the leaves turn yellow in the forest. Fall is a symbol of the waning years of speaker s life,
meaning that the speaker is past his youth when he can make a choice with the confidence that it is
correctable at a later time. Therefore, the choice that he will make is permanent and highly impacts the
rest of his life. Imagery and personification are used to describe contradiction in the process of making
a decision between the two paths. Since he cannot take both roads, the speaker looks down the road
but cannot see beyond the undergrowth, which expresses the fact that no one knows what the future
will bring. Much of the imagery in the poem is visual to describe the path to show the speaker s
indecisiveness of choosing a certain path. He wants to choose the path that is less traveled so he
chooses the path that is having perhaps the better claim (7), which is the path that is grassy and wanted
wear (8), a personification to describe that road is not stepped by other people. However, he realizes
that there is no appreciable difference between the two paths because both that morning equally lay In
leaves no step had trodden black. (11,12) The contradiction with the serious tone shows perplexity that

Analysis Of Movie And Displaying Modes Of Captions
While viewing Movies
When it comes to while viewing movies, I will analyze and stress such two issues to be implemented:
introduction to the movie and displaying modes of captions. My statements and reviews are as
follows:
Introduction to the movie. Apart from pre teaching a list of new words and phrases in a film, EFL
teachers should give their students a small introduction to the movie just before watching in class.
Some offered this proposal like Bueno (2009), He (Altman, 1989) cautioned that instructors must
provide background information when film genres do not include explicit information regarding the
systems of culture and thus the nonnative viewer lacks the cultural context needed to interpret a scene
(p. 320). EFL teachers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Otherwise, EFL teachers can create some class tasks to inform their students of what the movie is
about before watching. Knowing the meaning and importance of the movie, students will pay more
attention to the movie they will watch later. A range of class tasks can be designed such as class
surveys, problem resolution, video title discussion, brainstorming, consideration of a film summary,
information gap exercises, semantic mapping, and dictionary consultation (Stempleski Arcario, 1993,
p. 28 30). According to Wang and Liu (2011), Before the movie watching, brainstorming the students
with words according to their subject, this would diverse their thinking, activate their vocabulary
schema, and compensate each other (p. 44). In another aspect, Bueno (2009) suggested instructors
(should) utilize an overarching question that set the theme for interpreting the films to be viewed and
discussed (p. 323). Concerning the questions, Wang and Liu (2011) explained, The questions may be
about the whole movie or just about the details, leading students to appreciate the movie with
purposes, capture meaningful information and exchange their ideas (p. 44). Judith (2001) in the study
showed how to inform students of post viewing tasks before watching by giving an example, (before
showing) a video that shows the trials of asking someone out on a date, (tell students to)

Modern History
Research Essay: The Russian Revolution (Task 1)
Assess the role of the Bolsheviks for the decline and fall of the Romanov dynasty.
The beginning of the 20th century brought radical changes to the social and political structure of
autocratic Russia. It was a period of regression, reform, revolution and eradication. Eradication of a
blood line that had remained in rule for over 300 years; the Romanov Dynasty. The central figure of
this eradication was Tsar Nicholas II, often described as an incompetent leader, absent of the
commanding personality nor the strong character and prompt decision which are so essential to an
autocratic ruler... (Sir G. Buchman, British ambassador to Russia from 1910 in H. Seton Watson, The

The 1905 revolution can be considered as the pinnacle event that accelerated the downward spiral of
Tsar Nicholas s rule and Russia s adherence to their little father . From this point onwards Nicholas
was referred to by the people as not their little father but Nicholas the Bloody . The present ruler has
lost absolutely the affection of the Russian people, and whatever the future may have in store for the
dynasty, the present tsar will never again be safe in the midst of his people. (The American consul in
Odessa). This revolution was an uprising of people from all levels of society and was not an uprising
organised by any group in particular. The Bolsheviks played a minimal role in the 1905 revolution as
most of their leaders were living in exile and their impact and influence on the workers in that year
was weak as well as having no Duma faction. This demonstrates that the Bolsheviks had a minor role
in the pinnacle events that led to the downfall of the Romanov dynasty but rather gained support after
Nicholas abdication.
The years following the 1905 revolution seemed to show a lull amongst the people but unrest soon
returned to the cities. In the months leading up to WWI, St. Petersburg was paralysed by strikes, with
workers and police officers fighting hand to hand battles on the street.

List-Group Labels In Science
Science
List Group Label:

List Group Label can be used in Science to help students learn the vocabulary of a
topic. The teacher can start with a topic, such as plants. The students could then pick out words that
have to deal with plants

from off of the top of their head or from the text they are learning from. The
students would then group the words together and give each individual group a label.
Concept Sort: Concept sort can be used in Science to help students comprehend what they are

the words to the students. The student s job is to sort the words into preselected categories, for

After the students are done talking with their partners about the question, the whole class shares what

Visual Imagery: Visual imagery can be used in math by helping the students comprehend what they
are learning. The teacher should explain how to work out word problems and equations and write each
step out on the board. Students will then be able to see exactly how to solve the math problems which
will enhance their comprehension. Visual Imagery can also be used to explain math vocabulary.
Word Maps:A word map can be used in math to help students comprehend math vocabulary. The
teacher will create a word map for the students that they will have to fill out using a selected math
vocabulary word. The vocab word will be in the center of the map with surrounding topics, such as
definition, synonym, antonym, draw a picture, write a sentence, and how the student could use that
word in a real world situation.
Social Studies
Semantic Feature Analysis: Semantic feature analysis can be used in social studies to help students
learn vocabulary words and comprehend what they are reading. When using semantic feature analysis,
the teacher creates a chart with vocabulary words going down the left hand column and the important
featured topics going across the top row. The students then place + signs in the proper slot if the vocab
word aligns with the topic, and if the vocab word does not align with the topic the student puts a sign.

The current economic situation has required that organizations rethink the way that they do business.
With people losing jobs and salaries being cut, people are spending money on essentials and opting

The Future Of Terrorism In The United States
Over the past Century, terrorism has advanced from random killings to enormous plans for terrorist
groups. To understand terrorism you must first define it. Terrorism as we all know it is hard to define
and understand, and has many different definitions as it is used widely. The word terrorism stems from
the word terror , which means to instill fear in. People become terrorists when they take the actions
towards instilling fear and terror upon people to prove a certain point or agenda. Some terrorists may
have the motivation of proving something political, while some may just inflict terror to keep control
over a group, people or country. Then there are terrorists who act under the notion that they are
showing support for something, as in religious regions, while others do so to show disdain for
something they don t agree with. Government, individual agencies, private agencies, and academic
experts have all developed, proposed, designed, and analyzed what constitutes acts of terrorism. The
meaning of terrorism has definitely changed and acquired new definitions over the years. The million
dollar question is how will the future of America be affected by this act of terrorism?
Terrorism represents a continuing threat to the United States. It is the most significant threat to our
national security. Terrorist attacks have definitely left many concerns about the possibilities of future
incidents of terrorism in the United States. Since the events of September 11, 2011,

Brita Water Filters
Brita water filters are a nationally wide popular product. A West German entrepreneur, Heinz
Hankammer, founded Brita water filters in a small town in Germany in 1966. His main goal was to
enhance normal tap water. Hankammer named his invention after his daughter, Brita. It took more
than 45 years for this product to be considered a world market leader of home water filtration products
( About ).
The important question regarding Brita filters is whether they work or not. A study done by Michael
Schulson states that he tested whether Brita filters made tap water taste better, if filtered water is
healthier and if using Brita helps the environment. He tested the taste of the water by giving out
samples of tap water and Brita filtered water. Some of the testers said they tasted a difference,

multiculturalism has made a drastic impact on immigration and Canadian s tolerance of other s

In 1962, many new regulations were created that removed most limits on who can and cannot come to
Canada. Though Canada s government preferred British and European immigrants because they could
adapt easier, in 1967, Canada s legislation became colour blind and did t use the colour, ethnicity, or
cultural background as factors to determine the immigrant s status on becoming Canadian or not.
Instead they used a point system that was based on one s education and employment prospects. For
that reason, only certain amount of training for specific skills and tasks would have to take place for
them. On the other hand, refugees were constantly coming to Canada such as the 11,000 refugees that
came in 1968 after the Soviet Union invaded Czechoslovakia. Another law came into play in 1976,
family members with relatives that were already in Canada were allowed to immigrate into Canada.
Throughout the 1970 s the three main groups of immigrants were: refugees, families (relatives), and
independent immigrants. The only group out of the three that made up the points system were the
independent immigrants. With that being stated, the policy was much more permissive during the

As we drift down the river on our raft my mind begins to wander, I start looking back on all that I

Karen Armstrong
The book, In the Beginning, by Karen Armstrong follows the first book of the Bible, Genesis. It
unfolds some very well known stories in Genesis. Armstrong goes through each of the stories of
Genesis and interprets what each story is about and how we can relate it to our own lives. The book of
Genesis can be difficult to understand and it holds many mysteries within it, but with the help of
Karen Armstrong, we are able to understand the stories of Genesis and what they mean.
This is the story of the Bible s first book, raw and unchurched. Karen introduces us one by one to the
characters and their stories, making no effort to turn them into saints, for they are nothing like the
impossibly and depressingly flawless characters we met in Sunday School. Throughout, the authors of
Genesis remind us that we can expect no clear cut answers. We wrestle with the text, measuring its
inconsistent doctrines and contradictory lessons, as we struggle to grasp the character of God. How
can God be omnipotent, but powerless to control his creation? How can God be benevolent but a
killer; wise but arbitrary; just but partial and unfair; omniscient but ignorant of human yearning?

suffered respiratory and other severe injuries (Peterson, 2009). After 33 years from the outbreak, it
was reported that the place has caused newborn children to incur physical and mental defects since
their parents were exposed to the poisonous gas (Lal, 2017). Aside from its tremendous effect on the
health and safety of people, it also caused too much pollution in the environment which defoliated the
trees (Peterson, 2009). The Union Carbide (India) Limited (UCIL) have expanded its product line

Based on the analysis, the choice between these two benefit plans is made. However, the details of
implementing such a plan will not be provided.
Sources and methods
This report is solely based on secondary research. Sources include academic journals, research reports,
and trade publications. Majority of the sources are acquired from World Wide Web and research
database such as Business Source Complete, and selected based on their reliability, relevancy, and
recency.
Traditional vs. Flexible benefit plans
Employees benefit plan is non wage compensation, which means employees sacrifice part of their
wages or salaries to exchange some other form of benefits. The purpose of benefit plans is to increase
the security of employees, which consequently reduces work absenteeism and promotes job
satisfaction. Some of the benefits in the plan include: retirement benefit plans, employee assistance
plans, and group insurance (health, dental, life etc.). However, the scope of benefit coverage has
gradually been expanded; from traditional benefit plans to flexible benefit plans. Both of these two
benefit plans have different contents and emphases. Nowadays, about 60 percent of North American
organizations prefer to use flexible benefit plans.
Traditional benefit plans were desired to meet the needs of the nuclear family (Cole amp; Flint, 2004),
which is defined as an employed male head of household, nonworking spouse,

The Importance Of Water Infrastructure Financing
Water Infrastructure Financing
Water and sewer utilities are faced with the task of ensuring water quality, addressing aging
infrastructure and meeting with innovations in the industry. There is an urgent need for capital
investment and infrastructure financing to address these issues. This requires hundreds of billions of
dollars and the active participation of both the policy makers and other stakeholders.
Water infrastructure financing comes from several sources, including federal, state, and local sources,
and also from private sectors. Various forms of financing exist including state revolving funds (SRFs),
non SRF state funds, private activity bonds (PABs) and Municipal Bonds (Vedachalam Geddes 2017).

The method of trenchless pipe repair is cutting down on disruptive digging (Bonura 2002).
The use of pipe bursting to replace aging pipes was employed by the city of Austin, Texas, thereby
reducing cost and limiting environmental impacts. Some other cities are moving towards newer
technologies like city of Saginaw, Michigan which replaced all service water pipes with C909 PVC
pipes (Brzozowski 2016).
The corrosive resistant nature of these newer material gives it advantage over corrosive pipes that are
over the country as was highlighted in Flint, Michigan. Utilities are breaking away from the old
methods and using newer materials (Brzozowski 2016).
Water and sewer utilities all over the nation are adopting and upgrading to new technologies like the
smart water meters. These technologies provide real time information on consumption data, monitor
and detects leaks leading to quick and accurate pinpointing of leaks, and they are essential tools in
management of water resources. Studies utilizing smart water meters have shown that information
from the data can be used as management tool, determine water usage patterns, and detection of
leakages (Gurung et al 2014).
Deteriorating Water Quality
Ground and surface water are the main sources for water providers. Many of these nation s waters are
contaminated by pollutants. There are several federal and state regulations to address the issues of
pollution of the waterways by industrial and other sources.

The Indian Removal Act
Native American History In the early 1830 s, President Andrew Jackson, authorized the Indian
Removal Act. The Cherokee Indians and many other Indian Tribes were forcefully removed from their
homeland in a brutal and inhumane manner. During this hard journey, many Cherokee Indians died,
this journey was called The Trail of Tears which was the forced relocation of the Native American,
and these tragedies resulted from the enforcement of the Treaty of New Echota, an agreement signed
under the requirements of the Indian Removal Act.
The Indian Removal Act, of 1830, provided funds for uprooting Five Civilized Tribes, the Cherokee,
Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole with a population around 60,000 living in North Carolina,
Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi (Foner 393). Throughout the whole movement of the Indians,
many of them died during the journey while others died as they were left behind to try and fight for
their land. In a case involving Indians in 1823, Johnson vs. M Intosh, the court had claimed that
Indians were not in fact owners of their land, but merely had a right to occupancy (Foner 394). The
chief justice John Marshall claimed that from the early colonial era, Indians had lived as nomads and
hunters, not farmers. In Cherokee Nation vs. Georgia, 1831, Marshall described the Indians as Wards
of the federal government. They deserved paternal regard and protection but they lacked the standing
as citizens that would allow the Supreme Court to enforce their

  • 2. ##timum Imperatures Affect The Activity Of Amylase Abstract: This experiment s objective was to determine the optimal temperature for amylase from two different sources and to analyze how different temperatures affect the activity of the enzyme amylase. The chosen fungal amylase was Aspergillus oryzae and chosen bacteria was Bacillus licheniformis to be analyzed. Six groups performed the experiment with each member assigned a different temperature. Four test tubes of bacteria, fungal, and starch were obtained and each label and assigned with different temperatures of 0°, 20°, 60°, and 85° Celsius. All test tubes were timed correctly and recorded immediately to prevent and minimize any possible inaccuracies. Each solution was taken out of the temperature it was in after two minutes and then mixed with iodine to distinguish the color that forms. Once the first wells were filled, the starch solutions were mixed with the amylase to be able to monitor the starch solution and the rate at which the enzyme would break it down. After analyzing the data, the evidence showed that the optimal temperature for fungal, Aspergillus oryzae, was around 65° Celsius because the iodine solution s color was lightest (green) in that temperature. The bacteria, Bacillus licheniformis, optimal temperature was between 65 and 85° Celsius because it was at its lightest color (yellow) when mixed with the iodine solution. Introduction: This experiment was designed to show how different temperatures affect the activity of the enzyme amylase and to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Cummins was put in a variety of vehicles and the most common are in the dodge ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 series rams. It is also put into more heavy duty trucks such as Peterbilt semis. The reason people choose Cummins over Chevy s Duramax or Ford s Powerstroke is because Cummins are built to last longer meaning they can go more hours without maintenance. The Cummins diesel engines have several different designs, and a number of different models, and assembling one takes money, time, effort, and knowledge. • 5. The For Intellectual Property Law Essay Before college, when I heard about lawyers I only ever thought of one thing, the bar exam, and how awful it must be to prepare and take such a test. Now, moving steadily through the senior year of my undergraduate degree, my aspirations are quite different than what they were before college. With my changing goals, being a lawyer is now a profession that I wish to be a part of in the not too distant future. Specifically, I am aspiring to work in Intellectual Property Law. This form of law deals with protecting tangible and intangible creations of clients. These tangible and intangible creations range from inventions to symbols and often require being an expert in specific fields, such as industries, the arts, or science (Wilson, 2016). In order to assess a potential employee s attributes, a future employer will administer pre employment screenings where the person s knowledge, skills, and abilities will be assessed in order to determine their effectiveness for Intellectual Property Law. In order to perform effectively being a lawyer specializing in Intellectual Property Law, will require that I first graduate with a four year degree. The degree with which one takes is not specific, in fact, law schools admit individuals with degrees from almost every field of study (LearnHowToBecome.org, 2016). The next step is going through law school which typically takes three years. While at law school, studying a curriculum specific to Intellectual Property Law would be beneficial, ... • 6. 4. 1 Functional Classifications Of Functional Functions 4.1 Functional classification of dysregulated proteins It was shown that MPS VII is characterized by accumulation of ubiquitin and neurofilament, but not PHF τ, α synuclein or apoptosis [20]. Similarly, significant alterations in the ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS), but not proteins associated with apoptosis or PHF τ and α synuclein, were identified in this study. Previous transcriptomic and proteomic analyses of MPS VII mouse brain identified many dysregulated proteins involved in metabolism and cytoskeleton [21,22]. Additionally, these studies found that neuroinflammation is also upregulated, but not to a large extent. Similar results were observed in this study, indicating the reliability of the proteomics approach. We also examined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dysregulation of cytoskeletal genes has also been seen in MPS I mouse brains [4], MPS IIIB mouse brains [26] and MPS VII dog hearts [27]. Additionally, low density lipoprotein related protein 1B (LRP1B), dynamin 1 (DMN1) and dynamin related protein 1 (DNM1L), which are involved in the process of endocytosis, are downregulated. Vesicle associated membrane protein 2 (VAMP2) is involved in the targeting and/or fusion of transport vesicles to their target membrane [28]. These results further suggest impaired lysosomal membrane trafficking pathways in MPS VII. Based on previous reports and results in this study, we hypothesize that GAG accumulation leads to alterations in the cytoskeletal system and thereby impairs lysosomal membrane pathways including endocytosis, exocytosis, autophagy and vesicle transport. Notably, endocytosis defects in brain endothelial cells may contribute to low transcytosis, making enzyme replacement therapy more difficult to achieve neurological benefits. Therefore, targeting specific pathways involved in transcytosis may be an effective strategy to enhance enzyme delivery to the brain in lysosomal diseases including MPS VII. 4.1.2 Proteostasis Many neurodegenerative diseases share a common molecular signature: disruption of proteostasis [29]. This often manifests as an accumulation of ubiquitylated proteins, with evidence for a robust contribution to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Chemistry Vitamin C tamin C, ascorbic acid, is one of the most important vitamins found in citrus juices, including orange juice. Often projects find that orange juices made from frozen concentrated orange juice (FCOJ) have the highest vitamin C levels as compared to freshly squeezed or not from concentrate (NFC) juices. This is probably due to the fact that vitamin C degrades over time in fresh and NFC, but doesn t degrade as much in FCOJ due to it being frozen until reconstitution. If one is comparing a NFC product that has been stored for about 3 weeks versus a newly reconstituted FCOJ, the FCOJ would almost certainly have a higher vitamin C concentration. Also another thing to consider is if the FCOJ is reconstituted to the same strength as fresh or ... Pasteurized orange juice showed higher levels of vitamin C during the months of December through March, when vitamin C rich Hamlin oranges were a major contributor to the orange juice market. Samples collected between May and July generally had lower values of vitamin C. This probably reflected the use of larger amounts of Valencia oranges which have lower amounts of vitamin C of the three major Florida sweet oranges, said Lee. the current study did not take into account any changes in vitamin C levels that could have occurred during marketing. Vitamin C retention will also vary depending on the length of storage time and the type of container in which a product is stored BACKGROUND INFO Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a water soluble vitamin. Unlike most mammals, humans do not have the ability to make their own vitamin C. Therefore, we must obtain vitamin C through our diet. The scale of the paintings suggests that the artists must have used ladders and scaffolding. Archaeologists discovered sockets for scaffolding beams in the walls of the cave. (Encarta, 2003). Scaffolding is full of culture and is used by everyone in some way. There s many different styles, but there s usually one uniform way now with steel scaffolding. I really chose this topic for my senior project, because of my interest i have with scaffolding. I began working with scaffolding over the summer as a small job to make money, but looking back at it now I really enjoyed doing it. Working over the summer interested me in not only the basics of building, but the history that is behind it. Over all I really thought that this was going to be very boring and tedious, which I was not a wrong assumption. This project added to everything else i have to do is a wonderful way to learn about responsibility. Ultimately I wanted to just skip over this as best as possible, but no way to dodge it now. As I continue to go through I notice that it s not easy to find reliable sources for my subject. I enjoy scaffolding but, it was a mistake picking this. I have no idea what I m going to do. • 11. Role Of Gods In The Odyssey The Odyssey details Odysseus arduous return to his homeland. Ten years have passed since the end of the Trojan war and Odysseus, the most cursed man alive , has been missing and presumed dead by many. (10.79). Throughout the novel, gods play a significant role in the fate of Odysseus and other characters. The extent of the gods role though is not unqualified, contrary to Telemachus suggestion that, Zeus is to blame./He deals to each and every/ laborer on this earth whatever doom he pleases (1.401 403). While Zeus does have this power, his description of how humans meet their fate is more accurately depicted throughout the novel. As he aptly points out, from us alone, the say, come all their miseries, yes,/ but they themselves, with their own reckless ways,/ compound their pain beyond their proper share (1.38 52). While the gods do doom certain mortals, many of these mortals exacerbate their ill fate by making rash decisions and ignoring the gods warnings. The gods are also not always disrupting mortals lives; they often aid mortals in need. In fact, mortals who effectively court the favor of the gods often benefit greatly. While the gods powers are unquestionable, no one god s power is insurmountable. Gods can be outsmarted and their wrath escaped. The Odyssey, in congruence with Zeus statement, ultimately, portrays human freedom as existent, but limited. While mortals do not unjustly complain about their fates, they fail to acknowledge that they are also responsible for their ill fate, as mortals themselves, possess a sizable degree of control. There is little doubt that Odysseus and his crew are unlucky, but had it not been for their brash decisions they would have reached Ithaca much sooner. After Odysseus cunningly escapes the Cyclops, Polyphemos, his pride gets the best of him, as taunts the Polyphemos proclaiming, if any man on the face of the earth should ask you/ who blinded you, shamed you so say Odysseus/ raider of cities, he gouged out your eye (9.559 561). Of these branches it is said that the President, under the executive branch, has the most power. Congress as part of the legislative branch, however according to the text, American Government Institutions and Policies by James Wilson, John Dilulio, and Meena Bose, to the Framers of the Constitution, the bicameral (two chamber) Congress was the first branch. They expected Congress to wield most of the national government s powers...and [have] the ultimate authority to declare war (p. 303). However, as we know the commander in chief (the President) has the authority to declare war, and can be considered as the central figure in American politics . Coincidentally, the relationship between Congress and the President, expected by the Framers of the Constitution, is seemingly different than what they originally had in mind. The dynamic of both entities have shifted over the years; especially in reference to how the legislative branch operates. Most contemporary Americans and many experts, however, think of Congress not as the first branch but as the broken branch, unable to address the nation s most pressing domestic, economic, and international problems in an effective way; unduly responsive to powerful organized special interests; awash in nonstop campaign fundraising and other activities that many believe border on political corruption; and unlikely to fix itself through real reforms (p.303). • 17. Questions On Learning Objectives And Outcomes LESSON 6: OVERRIDING METHODS LEARNING OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES Introduction Final variables and methods Final classes Finalizer methods INTRODUCTION In JAVA, method inheritance is used for defining and using methods repeatedly in subclasses without defining methods again and again in every subclass. Sometimes, it is required for an object to respond the same method but have different behavior when the method is called. This is achieved by defining a subclass method that has the same name, arguments and return type as the method in the superclass. This is termed as overriding the method in JAVA. So, when the method is called, the subclass method is invoked and executed rather than superclass method. The rules for method overriding are summarized below: The argument list should be exactly same as that of the overridden method. The return type should be the same or should be a subtype of the return type declared in the original overridden method in the superclass. The access level cannot be more restrictive than the overridden method s access level. Instance methods can be overridden only if they are inherited by the subclass. A method declared final cannot be overridden. A method declared static cannot be overridden but can be re declared. If a method cannot be inherited, then it cannot be overridden. A subclass within the same package as the instance s superclass can override any superclass method that is not declared private or final. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Giles claims that both American culture and American literature have always been force fields of transnational conflict and of struggles for dominion (75); in other words, he asserts that America has never been completely separated from global affairs, ... • 21. The Road Not Taken By Robert Frost Analysis Life is difficult because no one can be sure if the choice they make will actually lead the outcome they wished for. The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, one of the most recognizable poems in American literature, speaks to choices people face in their life. The speaker has to make a right choice for him, that will lead to the outcome of being what he really wants to be. The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost uses symbolism, imagery, personification, and metaphor, to explain its theme that choices made by the one s strong wish of what one really wants to be, will ultimately lead to the desired outcome. The poem uses symbols to indicate the choices that the speaker faces in life. The two diverged road symbolize the two significant choices that diverge the future of speaker s life. The fork in the road indicates the point in the speaker s life where he can go no farther without making a decision that takes him down one path and does not allow him to take the other. The yellow wood (1) indicates fall when the leaves turn yellow in the forest. Fall is a symbol of the waning years of speaker s life, meaning that the speaker is past his youth when he can make a choice with the confidence that it is correctable at a later time. Therefore, the choice that he will make is permanent and highly impacts the rest of his life. Imagery and personification are used to describe contradiction in the process of making a decision between the two paths. Since he cannot take both roads, the speaker looks down the road but cannot see beyond the undergrowth, which expresses the fact that no one knows what the future will bring. Much of the imagery in the poem is visual to describe the path to show the speaker s indecisiveness of choosing a certain path. He wants to choose the path that is less traveled so he chooses the path that is having perhaps the better claim (7), which is the path that is grassy and wanted wear (8), a personification to describe that road is not stepped by other people. However, he realizes that there is no appreciable difference between the two paths because both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. • 22. Analysis Of Movie And Displaying Modes Of Captions While viewing Movies When it comes to while viewing movies, I will analyze and stress such two issues to be implemented: introduction to the movie and displaying modes of captions. My statements and reviews are as follows: Introduction to the movie. Apart from pre teaching a list of new words and phrases in a film, EFL teachers should give their students a small introduction to the movie just before watching in class. Some offered this proposal like Bueno (2009), He (Altman, 1989) cautioned that instructors must provide background information when film genres do not include explicit information regarding the systems of culture and thus the nonnative viewer lacks the cultural context needed to interpret a scene (p. 320). EFL teachers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Otherwise, EFL teachers can create some class tasks to inform their students of what the movie is about before watching. Knowing the meaning and importance of the movie, students will pay more attention to the movie they will watch later. A range of class tasks can be designed such as class surveys, problem resolution, video title discussion, brainstorming, consideration of a film summary, information gap exercises, semantic mapping, and dictionary consultation (Stempleski Arcario, 1993, p. 28 30). According to Wang and Liu (2011), Before the movie watching, brainstorming the students with words according to their subject, this would diverse their thinking, activate their vocabulary schema, and compensate each other (p. 44). In another aspect, Bueno (2009) suggested instructors (should) utilize an overarching question that set the theme for interpreting the films to be viewed and discussed (p. 323). Concerning the questions, Wang and Liu (2011) explained, The questions may be about the whole movie or just about the details, leading students to appreciate the movie with purposes, capture meaningful information and exchange their ideas (p. 44). Judith (2001) in the study showed how to inform students of post viewing tasks before watching by giving an example, (before showing) a video that shows the trials of asking someone out on a date, (tell students to) ... Modern History Research Essay: The Russian Revolution (Task 1) Assess the role of the Bolsheviks for the decline and fall of the Romanov dynasty. The beginning of the 20th century brought radical changes to the social and political structure of autocratic Russia. It was a period of regression, reform, revolution and eradication. Eradication of a blood line that had remained in rule for over 300 years; the Romanov Dynasty. The central figure of this eradication was Tsar Nicholas II, often described as an incompetent leader, absent of the commanding personality nor the strong character and prompt decision which are so essential to an autocratic ruler... The 1905 revolution can be considered as the pinnacle event that accelerated the downward spiral of Tsar Nicholas s rule and Russia s adherence to their little father . From this point onwards Nicholas was referred to by the people as not their little father but Nicholas the Bloody . The present ruler has lost absolutely the affection of the Russian people, and whatever the future may have in store for the dynasty, the present tsar will never again be safe in the midst of his people. (The American consul in Odessa). This revolution was an uprising of people from all levels of society and was not an uprising organised by any group in particular. The Bolsheviks played a minimal role in the 1905 revolution as most of their leaders were living in exile and their impact and influence on the workers in that year was weak as well as having no Duma faction. This demonstrates that the Bolsheviks had a minor role in the pinnacle events that led to the downfall of the Romanov dynasty but rather gained support after Nicholas abdication. The years following the 1905 revolution seemed to show a lull amongst the people but unrest soon returned to the cities. In the months leading up to WWI, St. Petersburg was paralysed by strikes, with workers and police officers fighting hand to hand battles on the street. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To understand terrorism you must first define it. Terrorism as we all know it is hard to define and understand, and has many different definitions as it is used widely. The word terrorism stems from the word terror , which means to instill fear in. People become terrorists when they take the actions towards instilling fear and terror upon people to prove a certain point or agenda. Some terrorists may have the motivation of proving something political, while some may just inflict terror to keep control over a group, people or country. Then there are terrorists who act under the notion that they are showing support for something, as in religious regions, while others do so to show disdain for something they don t agree with. Government, individual agencies, private agencies, and academic experts have all developed, proposed, designed, and analyzed what constitutes acts of terrorism. The meaning of terrorism has definitely changed and acquired new definitions over the years. The million dollar question is how will the future of America be affected by this act of terrorism?
