The Impact Of Innovation On The Development Of A New...
Innovation is a combination of behaviors and skill sets that contribute to the development of a new
product or service that is cutting edge, creates value, is a breakthrough process or brings financial
success. Some people may think that innovation is something that only comes natural, a born skill or
talent. But according to Dyer, Gregersen, and Christensen (2011), anyone can become more
innovative through the mastering of the five discovery skills (associating, questioning, observing,
experimenting and networking). These five skills were identified through a study on the behaviors that
top innovators engage in. In this analysis, an in depth review of an article by Vineet Nayar, the former
CEO and vice chairman of HCLT will help to identify how discovery skills, were used to create an
innovative organization. As a newly appointed president of the Delhi based IT services provider HCL
Technologies (HCLT), Vineet Nayar found himself in a difficult position to either stick with the
current norms of his organization or take a leap towards greater possibilities. Despite the continued
growth of the company s revenues each year, it was still losing market shares and mindshare. The
industry was rapidly changing; its competitors were increasing in growth more rapidly each year and
the loss of the customer s interest in their services (Nayar, 2010). He knew that something would have
to change in order for the company to survive and thrive in a rapidly changing industry.

Being Thankful For My Family
I think being thankful is very important. I believe gratitude turns what we have into enough. If you are
thankful for things it makes you appreciate them more that way. It s good to be thankful so that you
know how lucky you are. There is always something to be thankful for. I m thankful for my
grandparents, my family and my dog. I am so thankful for my grandparents. They love and care for
me so much in their own ways. My grandma Bev plays Gin Rummy with me whenever she visits.
Usually, she comes down during Thanksgiving, and we make Thanksgiving dinner together with my
mom, and my dad just eats the food while we make it. My grandma makes great gravy and cranberry
sauce. My grandma Frieda and grandpa Larry like to watch golf and the cooking show with me. My
grandma Frieda cooks and bakes with me and always gives me baking supplies. My grandpa Larry,
when I was little, used to give me Piggy Back rides but I m too big now. My grandparents never forget
any of my birthdays, ever. My grandma Bev has given me a silver dollar every birthday that I ve had. I
love my grandparents so much, and I am very thankful for them. My family is the most important
thing to me in the whole world. I would be nothing without them. Every one of my family members
play a special role in my life. My dad makes me laugh so hard my stomach hurts. We watch funny
shows and my dad tells me so many stories about his life in collage and all the funny/stupid stuff they
did. My dad cares about me so much,

Arguments Against Gay Adoption
Only 25 out of 196 countries in the world have legalized same sex marriage, while only 26 allow gay
adoption. Gay marriage and adoption is widely opposed all over the globe. Though there s been
recordings of people who are LGBT as early as 2400 B.C, many still oppress those inside of the
community. Since the stonewall riots in 1969, the gay rights movement has been a slow progression
for equal rights and social acceptance. Gay marriage isn t deducting anything from heterosexual
marriages. Many make the argument that gay people shouldn t have the ability to get married because
of the inability to have biological children, but many straight people can t reproduce either. In the case
of gay adoption, many will argue that having same sex parents will negatively affect a child, while no
studies have proven this. Gay people should be able to adopt and marry because they can raise kids as
well as heterosexuals can, and marry without causing harm. Smith 2 Why is gay marriage feared by a
wide variety of heterosexuals, when it doesn t take anything away from them? 44% of Australian
residents opposed gay marriage in this years vote to legalize it. A little less than half of Australia

A Negative Relationship In Thomas King s Totem
In the short story Totem by Thomas King, it is very evident that the relationship between the totem
pole and the museum workers is a rather negative relationship. The relationship is depicted in Totem
as an overpowering, authoritative, and entitled relationship. The relationship between the totem pole
and the museum workers is depicted through the museum workers such as Mrs. Hill, Walter Hooton,
and the other worker s reaction and constant need to remove the totem pole. Ultimately, the totem pole
is symbolic in the story because it represents the Indigenous people in Canada. In King s short story,
the museum workers are constantly trying to remove the totem pole from the museum as Walter states
that, the totem pole is not part of the show, and we need to move it someplace else (King 14). This
quote accurately demonstrates the controlling nature of the museum workers because they attempt to
remove the totem pole numerous times, but each time is as unsuccessful as the last. This correlates to
Canadian history with the settlers trying to eliminate the Indigenous people in Canadian Society which
was also unsuccessful. Additionally, another example that proves the controlling nature of the workers
is witnessed when Walter attempts to find the owner of the totem pole instead of just leaving it in the
show. Considering this, the whole notion of ownership is very different in Indigenous and non
Indigenous cultures. Indigenous culture believes that everything is to be shared and no one is an owner
of anything. This concept is complete and total opposite in non Indigenous culture as everything
belongs to someone. Further, the museum workers believe they have authority over the totem pole
because it is essentially in the museum which, they believe, belongs to them. However, in the short
story it says that, [the totem pole] goes right through the floor (King 15). This shows that the totem
pole was there before the museum was built and therefore, the workers do not have the right to remove
it. Walter Hooton is one of the main museum workers trying to get the totem pole out of the museum.
His reason for removal is that, this totem pole is not part of the show, and we need to move it

The Classic Text Of Power And Interdependence
International politics is simply defined as the academic principle which deals with the practical
realities of a state s interaction with another state or several other states. This essay will outline how
the classic text of Power and interdependence has shaped and continues to shape how we think about
international politics. Power and interdependence, published and authored by Robert Keohane and
Joseph Nye in 1977, was widely regarded as an influential book within the study of international
politics. The authors wanted to challenge the fundamental assumptions of traditional and structural
realism which at the time, focused on military and economic capabilities to identify state behaviour.

Power and interdependence continue to shape international politics through the introduction of the
new school of thought in the study of international relations of neoliberalism. Neoliberalism refers to a
school of thought which assumes that states are concerned with absolute gains rather than relative
gains to other states. Neoliberalism alongside neorealism is one of the most influential contemporary
approaches to international relations.

Giuseppe Garibaldi Essay
Giuseppe Garibaldi
The Sword of Italian Unification
My goal, which was, I believe, shared by most italians at that time, was to unite the country and rid it
of foreign powers. Those who gave Italy her freedom would earn her people s gratitude (Garibaldi,
page 6). During the age of Italian unification, there were three men who fought for her (Italy s)
freedom. Those men were Cavour the brains, Mazzini the soul, and Garibaldi the sword (Chastain).
Giuseppe Garibaldi was born in Nice in 1807 (Garibaldi, page 173). He spent his life working towards
not only Italian unification, but that of France and South America. He is considered by many to be the
Hero of two worlds (Chastain). He spent most of his complex life on the run from ... Show more

Most of his account of twenty years of battle is more epic in nature, and includes many negative
interactions with authority figures. In all of his autobiography, he clearly mentions his personal values
at the beginning of his period of exile from Italy, and he does so with powerful language: It is difficult
to find perfection among humankind: let us try to be good; let us teach the masses, as far as we can,
the principles of justice and truth;; let us fight theocracy and tyranny, the embodiments of lies and evil,
whatever form they take but let us show compassion toward our own cruel human race, which among
its other merits has the ability to generate on half of itself made up of emperors, kings, policemen and
priests, who appear to be born with all the attributes of torturers for the glory and the good of the rest
of us (Garibaldi, page 48). From this quote we can clearly see that freedom, truth, and justice was the
primary values of Garibaldi. This values are , in turn, aligned very closely with his organizational
commitments and actions. From his book, it can inferred that he is always concerned for the safety and
well being of his troops. From his oversight into obtaining a proper burial of comrade in arms,
Anazini, to the constant references to the need to obtain proper clothing and food for his troops.
Giuseppe displays a great hatred for his superiors when they do not deliver on their promise of

What Are The Strategic Competencies Of The Hospitality...
There are different strategies that must be considered by the organisations operating in hospitality
industry. The contributions made by the firm donate towards the performance and achievement of the
company. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the strategies of the hotel, which serves as the basis
of success. This paper is divided into five different tasks each of which is focusing on various aspects
of the hotels performance. The organisation that is selected in order to answer the tasks is
InterContinental Hotel Group. Different models and strategies are used for analysing external
environment, core capabilities, culture, and strategic choices of the firm.
Task 1: Strategic Trajectories and Competencies of Hotel
InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) is among the largest hotels of the world and contain large of

Moreover, the tax regulations, personnel laws, ecological regulations, and industry particular
regulation can be changed relying upon the country current economic situation. For example, the
process of elections in different countries plays a basic part in the globalisation of hospitality market.
Eventually, the conceivable changes of regulations and laws can either advantage or represent a
detriment for the tourism organisations that are operating internationally. However, another political
issue is visa limitations for the reason that in UK and the US, the migration has executed more strict
regulations making it harder for outsiders to acquire a traveller visa. Particularly after the 9/11 terrorist
assault, the US has turned out to be more stringent on the issuance of visas (Levonsky Conley,

Viva La Juicy s Glacé perfume ad uses a beautiful, young, blonde woman in a fitted, pink sparkly
dress, lying on a background of white roses and pink ribbons to sale the vision of glamour, freshness,
and a carefree mood through their perfume. The way the woman in the picture is beautifully portrayed,

In the perfume ad by Viva La Juicy, the young woman is adoringly glamorous, from her facial
expression to how she is dressed, to the jewelry she wears. Her makeup is soft but accompanied by a

Kony 2012 Film Analysis
When a social issue arises, many activists turn to different media outlets to voice their views and
demand social change. For decades, actualities known today as documentaries, have been used to give
viewers an inside look on real life without being there to experience it firsthand. Often, directors use
these films to persuade the audience into taking their side regarding various societal issues.
Filmmakers help sway their targeted audience by using different codes and conventions to appeal their
opinion effortlessly to the viewers. It can be seen in the films Kony 2012 by director James Russel,
2002 s Bowling for Columbine by Michael Moore and 1922 s Nanook of the North by Robert J.
Flaherty, that directors often use subjectivity rather than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moore manipulates many facts throughout the documentary. For example, he edits Charlton Heston s
speech regarding his support of the second amendment, in order to make it seem as if it was shortly
after the Columbine High School shooting when in reality, it was further down the road (Bradsaw,
2002). Furthermore, the director strategically set up an interview with Heston while he was suffering
from Parkinson s disease so he could ultimately take advantage of him for the sake of the film
(Bradsaw, 2002). While he explores many different methods, Moore often takes on social issues in a
comedic fashion to help persuade the viewers. For instance, in one clip he uses a cartoon as a
representation of the civil rights movement in the United States, amplifying the ignorance of the
counter view. Moore also uses Noddies and Reverse Questions in his interviews to belittle the
interviewee and create a more obvious argument for the audience to side with. Lastly, Michael Moore
uses video montages combined with irony to create a negative image surrounding America s gun
control laws. In this clip, Moore shows violence and terror that the United States has been involved in,
all the while playing Louis Armstrong s What a Wonderful World , to create a thought within the
viewer that with stricter gun control laws, none of this would have

Bill De Blasio Case
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is accused of attacking the First Amendment to the United States
Constitution through his review of all of the contracts his city has with U.S. presidential contender
Donald Trump.
Trump has been criticized for his recent comments about immigrants from Mexico and has recently
lost private sector contracts as a result. That is a prerogative reserved for private business. However,
the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that such actions are stifling to free speech.
At his presidential campaign kickoff June 18, Trump said Mexican immigrants bring drugs into the
U.S. and they re bringing crime, they re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people. Some in the

Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz declared the review plainly unconstitutional and not the

Eugene Volokh, a law professor at the University of California Los Angeles, characterized the mayor s
statement as a real danger to public debate. He noted that a pall could be cast over all city contractors
as a result of the review and any eventual contract cancellation. He paraphrased de Blasio s actions as
we don t want to renew it [a Trump contract] because we don t like your speech.
The free speech rights of government contractors were resolved in the landmark 1996 Umbehr case
before the United States Supreme Court. In a 7 2 decision, the majority of justices ruled that
government contractors could not have existing contracts revoked because someone did not thing they
may have said in public. In that case, a county in Kansas fired a contractor because he often criticized
a county board. The Court said his First Amendment right to speak freely was infringed when the
county retaliated in the cancellation of his

The Power Of Rhetoric In Shakespeare s The Clouds
Rhetoric is the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of
speech and other compositional techniques. (Webster s) The art of oratory reached the height of its
popularity in fifth century Athens, largely due to men like Socrates, Demosthenes and Plato that
perfected this style of speaking and transformed it into an artform. Aristophanes, an Ancient Athenian
playwright s, The Clouds is one of the best examples of how this artform changed the culture of
Ancient Athens, which, in turn, helped to shape thinking in the Western world. From that point until
present day, the art of speaking in a convincing manner (also known as rhetoric), has been a highly
prized and sought after ability. In William Shakespeare s Measure for Measure and Aristophanes The
Clouds, the characters place great importance on the skill of rhetoric. Perfecting this art insures the
characters that they will be convincing in their argument, thereby, also gaining or diminishing their
honor as well as the honor of the other characters.
One of the most prominent examples of the power of rhetoric within Greek society comes from
Aristophanes The Clouds. This play features a hardworking, traditional, but simple father, named,
Strepsiades, who tries to convince his lazy, modern, but quick witted son, Pheidippides to be more like
his hardworking, conservative father. Unfortunately for Strepsiades, Pheidippides used his father s
money for his gambling habit, so the

Use Of Light And Dark Imagery In Romeo And Juliet
In conclusion it is evident that Shakespeare uses light and dark imagery to better characterize and
develop his main characters, establish general moods, and to reinforce his three themes. Certainly one
can see Juliet Capulet is developed best through light imagery to express her true beauty; also, in
particular depression seems to be established as the overall mood through dark imagery. The three
main ideas of Romeo and Juliet are timeless; four hundred years after it was written the drama still
seems to influence and replicate teenagers in this day and age. The work has been conceived into
many forms such as modern film and music. The three main themes, which describe how the teenagers

Prior to the arrival of Europeans, land care was a major purpose in life for Aboriginal people and
although their approach was entirely sustainable, they were actively intervening in the landscape.
They involved activities such as damming creeks, fire stick farming and sustainable harvesting
methods. (Roberts, 2014) The damming of creeks created natural watering holes for their own use as
well as attracting animals to the area, which incidentally resulted in a change in Australian landscape.
Fire stick farming was used to promote the growth of valued plants, with plant species unable to
survive fire and declining in numbers, and more resistant species, such as grass trees, eucalypts and
acacias, dominating. The Indigenous harvesting techniques were also quite sustainable in conserving
resources. For example, women dug some varieties of yams in such a way that a portion which would
regenerate was left in the ground. (Williams, 1986, pp. 93 94) Prior to the arrival of Europeans, the
Indigenous Australians managed their lands in a way that was sustainable and would ensure

many well known works by famous composers such as Camille Saint Saens, Modest Mussorgsky, and
Berlioz. The three pieces that are the most memorable in my mind are Overture to La Cenerentola , Là

The identity status she best fits in at this stage is identity diffusion. I feel like she fits better in this

gave much thought to what she wanted to become in the future because she lacked that motivation

her own clothing line, Clothes Over Bros, while still being a senior in high school. After she graduates
from high school, four years pass and we see Brooke become a major and well known fashion
designer in New York and her clothing company had already made millions. This is where Brooke
Davis experienced the status of identity achievement. Her clothing line started as a small idea in high
school and through exploration of the fashion designer world, her dream became a reality. I would not
say that she ever experienced the status of identity moratorium because she never really was torn
between to career areas. Once she knew that she had that desire to design clothes, she went for it
without second guessing herself. The status that Brooke proved wrong is identity foreclosure. She
proved this wrong because just because fashion designing was her passion, she did not let the industry
change who she was. She managed to be highly successful while still remaining humble and not
changing her beliefs or morals to conform to everyone else. A lot of time, the money changes people

John F. Kennedy And Jfk
John F. Kennedy
My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your
country. This is one of the most famous quotes John F. Kennedy ever presented during his term as
president of these United States. Hello I am Miya Cole and in these next few minutes I will be
informing you about our thirty fifth president, John F. Kennedy.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy or better known as JFK was born May 29, 1917 in Brookline,
Massachusetts. JFK had a particularly big family which consisted of three brothers and four sister.
Kennedy lived in Brookline for 10 years and attended the Edward Devotion School, the Noble and
Greenough Lower School, and the Dexter School through 4th grade. In 1927, the Kennedy family
moved to New York City. Kennedy attended the lower campus of Riverdale Country School, a private
school for boys, from 5th to 7th grade. Two years later, the family moved to the suburb of Bronxville,
New York, where Kennedy was a member of Scout Troop 2. In September 1930, Kennedy attended
the Canterbury School in New Milford, Connecticut and about a year later he had to leave Canterbury
due an illness.
In September 1931, Kennedy was sent to the The Choate School in Wallingford, Connecticut for 9th
through 12th grade. During his years there he sort of a trouble maker. He and his friend were most
notorious for using a cherry bomb or firecracker to explode toilet seats. In June of 1935 Kennedy
graduated from Choate. In September 1936, Kennedy

Casilda In The Judge s Wife By Isabel Allende
Indeed, a woman should soften but not weaken a man. This supposition exemplifies the character
Casilda from The Judge s Wife short story by Isabel Allende. Although not seen by all as the main

of almost every character in the story. Not only does her character grow in The Judge s Wife, but she
is also a medium for the growth of the two other main characters in the story. Casilda molds the
personality of a majority of the characters in the story, distinctly Judge Hidalgo and Nicolas Vida.
Casilda noticeably changed the character of Judge Hidalgo, into a softer man, in his field of
professionalism. In a close analysis of this narrative, we find that the Judge was a very cranky
bachelor who was very feared by all, in the village he lived, for his stubbornness and severe temper.
We are told that, when he enforced the law, Judge Hidalgo failed to give any account of the whys and
wherefores behind the indicted committing the crime. According to the author, not only did the judge
refuse to apply any common sense in his judgments but was also equally harsh in his condemnation of
the theft of a chicken as of premeditated murder (Allende 284). Across the village, not a single person
was safe from his cruelty. However, the judge changed, significantly after he married Casilda. All this
came to reality when the priest and a group of Catholic women approached Casilda to plead for the
life of Juana the Forlorn, a poor old woman who was subjected to torture for the reason that she made
an effort to capture her son. Casalda heeded to their requests and set forth for the town, with a bottle of
fresh water and a basket of food, taking her children dressed in their Sunday best. In spite of the
soldiers struggles to keep her away, the cries of her children crossed the years of Judge Hidalgo. This
made him realize the mistakes he had been making prompting him, Judge Hidalgo, to come down in
person and unlock the cage,

John Holland s Typology Paper
Holland s Typology In the beginning, career counseling was strictly developed to help with job
placement, but it became so much more than that after the career development was further researched
by a group of theorist that focused on career process. What is it that drives us to choose a specific
career path? According to Zunker (2012), different theorists such as Parsons, Holland, Krumboltz,
Bandura, Super, and Gottfredson all developed theories on career development and their perspective
on the importance of occupational process. Throughout this paper one will discuss the John Holland s
Typology and the significance of this particular career theory. Some of the points that will be covered
in this paper include: history of theory, strengths and weaknesses, assessments used, population best
fit for this theory, and diversity and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Explanation and History John Holland was a remarkable psychologist that took special interest in
career choice and personality traits. Holland s career counseling perspective started while studying at
the University of Minnesota for graduate school in counseling. In graduate school, was when he
discovered that people express personality in various ways (Nauta, 2010, p.12). He expressed that
personality and career interests work together somehow (Nauta, 2010). The John Holland s Typology
is the concept that one chooses a career to satisfy one s preferred modal personal orientation (Zunker,
2012, p. 27). He made two major points about how people are influenced for a career choice. The first
point was that people search for an environment that they can utilize their skills and abilities, and
reveal their values and attitudes in the most influential way. The second point was that a person s

Ethical Responsibility Of Media Bias
CNN is nothing but a bunch of liberals! Every point you make is invalid because you get your
information from Fox News! Well, what news sources are the public supposed to be trusting, anyway?
Do objective media outlets even exist anymore? Media bias has done incomprehensible damage to the
thoughts, opinions, and beliefs of the citizens of this nation. Newspapers, magazines, news channels,
and reporters themselves have an ethical responsibility to inform the public of the entire truth, not to
spread their own agenda across the nation. Because the public relies so heavily on the media for
information, it is immoral for news outlets to be even the slightest bit subjective to one side. The
media affects everyone s way of thinking. If journalists are crooked in any way, their works will,
without a shadow of a doubt, have detrimental effects on citizens political beliefs and their perceptions
of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though the misinterpretation and ignorance of honest news through perceptual bias is formed by
individuals, it s a shame that the remaining three fourths of bias is deliberately carried out by reporters
and journalists themselves. The main issue at hand is that journalists today feel that their own opinions
are correct and superior to others; therefore, they are sure to only circulate information that will get
citizens to see things their way, as opposed to giving an honest, impartial version of the truth. When
asked if today s media influences the opinions of citizens for better or for worse, Shane McNabb, a
fellow news consumer, explains that media outlets influence people when they have obvious biases.
They tell you only what they want you to hear, and often out of context. This is often the case for both
liberal and conservative outlets, and people end up either not knowing what to believe or taking on the
opinion of the biased outlet

Abstract Unfortunately divorce is at an all time high around the world today and there aren t any signs
of it slowing. Numerous amount of stress can stem from divorce, not only for the couple involved but
for the child or children involved as well. This paper reflects on the many different effects that divorce
can have on children ages eighteen and under in the United States, as well as other countries. In
comparison, studies show that there is usually an emotional disconnect involving children of divorced
parents or ones whom have begun the long strenuous process. The emotional disconnect can cause

(Ruschena, Prior, Sanson, amp; Smart, 2005). They hypothesized that those children who had
experience family transitions such as divorce were less likely to succeed. (Ruschena, Prior, Sanson,
amp; Smart, 2005). The results of the study show that children who displayed the most problem weren
t due to the divorce itself but to the relationship with the parents and their actions. Using data from the
Early Childhood Longitudinal Study Kindergarten cohort (ECLS K) (N = 10,061), I examined the role
of psychosocial well being in the relationship between divorce and children s outcomes (Potter, 2010).
The same study mentioned above is use in this article as well. Potter will emphasize the impact of
divorce on children can cause many issues and the point out five explanations. Despite the multitude
of possible influences involved in the divorce process, most theory and research has focused on four
explanations: changes to family economic resources, declines in parenting quality, high levels of
parental conflict, and disruption to the parent child relationship (Potter, 2010). Many children will

John Wilkes Booth s Assassination
John Wilkes Booth is an important figure of history because he assassinated Abraham Lincoln.
President Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States of America; he was
assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on April 15, 1865. The Civil War had just finished, and the Union
was victorious. Meanwhile, Booth was a Confederate supporter. Booth had many factors to motivate
him to kill Lincoln, but there were some very important ones that are probably the reason he killed
Lincoln.
First, Booth thought Lincoln was a tyrant and should be killed. After Booth shot President Lincoln he
jumped off stage and yelled Sic semper tyrannis! (Thus ever to tyrants) The south is avenged! This
shows that Booth thinks Lincoln is a tyrant. Also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to biography.com it says Tell mother... I died for my country. This is implying that he is
willing to risk his life to save the country because he thought Lincoln was a bad person and he was the
reason the Confederates lost the war. Additionally, biography.com says that Booth became involved
with a kidnapping plan. It also says the plan including bringing him to Richmond and either demand
peace or the release of Confederate supporters. In this piece of evidence he is saying that he wants to
have revenge and avenge the south. When he jumped off of the stage he yelled the south is avenged.
That also says that he thinks he is getting revenge for the south.
Additionally, he is mad that his kidnapping plan didn t work. biography.com says Frustrated at seeing
his plot fail Booth resolved to go to an even further extreme. This is saying that Booth was frustrated
that his plot failed, and he was going to assassinate the president. biography.com also says Booth
enlisted six southern sympathizers, but their March 1865 attempt in Washington D.C failed. This
shows his support of the South, and it also shows how their plan failed.
John Wilkes Booth, the murderer of Lincoln, had many reasons for his actions. This is very important
to people because there still might be some unknown factors for why John Wilkes Booth slaughtered
Lincoln. Booth thought that assassinating Lincoln was a good idea, but it really only turned him into a

Reggae Music Research Paper
The History of a Legacy
What is reggae music? Reggae music is a type of music that consists of different genres of music such
as blues and calypso. Reggae music also consists of different rhythms such as different accents on
different beats of the music. Say for instance you are playing in a four/four time measure. The natural
beat for a drummer playing in this type of particular time measure would be for him to hit his high hat
on all 4 beats, his bass foot pedal on one and three, and his snare on two and four. When playing
reggae this particular pattern differs for the drummer. When playing reggae the drummer has more
room to play around with the beat. In this particular setting the drummer would continue to hit the hi
hat on all four beats of the four measure. He would then start the measure of music by hitting his bass

animals skin. Bongos also are an advocate to the rhythmic part of reggae music. The bass guitar is the
heartbeat of reggae music. The bass guitar is a four string or more instrument that is played by hand
by plcking it or consciously striking it. An electric guitar is the exact same thing as a bass guitar, with
the exception of the pitch. A bass guitar has a deep bellowing kind of a pitch, whereas an electric

A man who believes in egoism. A man whose motivation is his desires and interests

desire? This life of being an egoist is the life of Prometheus. Egoism is commonly associated with a
negative connotation in which one has too much ego or self pride. However, egoism and egotism are
parallel and must be distinguished from one another. Egotism is a psychological overvaluation of one
s own importance and or importance. Simply put, egotism is arrogance. The book, For the New
Intellectual by Ayn Rand contains a speech called The Soul of an Individualist. It says that Men have
been taught that the highest virtue is not to achieve, but to give. Yet one cannot give that which has not
been created ( The Soul of an Individualist 2). Prometheus was indeed an egoist who was able to
determine the power of self worth in a chaotic and lifeless world. While being an egoist is associated

The Gray Zone by Primo Levi Essay
The Gray Zone by Primo Levi In the chapter, the gray zone, the author Primo Levi describes the
human relationships inside the Lager. In describing the gray zone, Levi discusses the different roles of
prisoners assigned by the Nazi. The prisoners that did the work were seen as being more privileged
which at the end of the day helped them get more food and live better. Therefore, the concept of the
gray zone is analyzing the difference between the privileged and the non privileged in the Lager. The
difference can be seen by the tasks that the prisoners carried out, for example, one of the groups were
seen as, Low ranking functionaries... sweepers, kettle washers, night watchmen, bed smoothers...

Terrence Des Pres, The Survivor Summary The Survivor by Terrence Des Pres discusses how
prisoners survived in poor living conditions in the Warsaw Ghetto. He defines a survivor as, ...any
man or women striving to keep life and spirit intact not only those who returned, but the hundreds of
thousands who stayed alive sometimes for years, only to die at the last minute. He describes the
experience in the Ghetto where it was possible to survive with the collective efforts of others, which is
the opposite of how Primo Levi described it. Survivors experienced help from each other such as gifts
of food from friends and family. People were willing to give up their valuables for the better of others.
With these little gestures people felt better and more rich about their experience which helped lighten
the mood in the Ghetto. However, thousands still died every day at Treblinka, a concentration camp in
Poland. At the peak of operations, 15,000 men, women and children died there each day. Death on that
scale took enormous labor, and towards the end, when the SS began to fear discovery, the mass graves
were opened and the rotting bodies burned. The Sonderkommando, a group of prisoners, were
responsible of disposing bodies of other prisoners. The purpose of surviving till the end was to tell the
horrific stories of the Warsaw Ghetto. Such as the filthy living conditions. In Nazi camps especially,

The Sentence Task Shown by Michelle Obama and the North...
Imagine books are buildings, then sentences are the very foundation of them. For long, sentences has
been the most essential way to exchange information, to express feelings and to share values and
thoughts. The art of rhetoric is applied in the sentences to carry out messages more efficiently. During
my research process, I have to commit that as a foreign language speaker, I found it really hard at first.
Inspired by the history of rhetoric, I started searching for speeches and eventually I managed to find
two interesting sentences.
Both sentences come from two outstanding women who have grown up with different education and
culture background. One of them, Mrs. Obama, first lady of the United States, is quite familiar to us.
Michelle Obama was born into an ordinary family in Chicago, brought up by her stay at home mother
and plumber father. She worked hard and graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law
School.Later on she became a well known attorney.(The National First Ladies Library,2013) In
contrast to the First Lady, the other speaker, Hyeonseo Lee, does not bear such fame. She actually has
been a North Korean refugee since her childhood. Born in North Korea, Hyeonseo Lee left for China
in 1997 during a serious famine occurred in North Korea. She now lives in South Korea, as an activist
for her fellow refugees.(TED,2013) Given the brief biography of both ladies with significant
difference, it is easier for us to understand what exact ideas they try to

  • 2. The Impact Of Innovation On The Development Of A New... Innovation is a combination of behaviors and skill sets that contribute to the development of a new product or service that is cutting edge, creates value, is a breakthrough process or brings financial success. Some people may think that innovation is something that only comes natural, a born skill or talent. But according to Dyer, Gregersen, and Christensen (2011), anyone can become more innovative through the mastering of the five discovery skills (associating, questioning, observing, experimenting and networking). These five skills were identified through a study on the behaviors that top innovators engage in. In this analysis, an in depth review of an article by Vineet Nayar, the former CEO and vice chairman of HCLT will help to identify how discovery skills, were used to create an innovative organization. As a newly appointed president of the Delhi based IT services provider HCL Technologies (HCLT), Vineet Nayar found himself in a difficult position to either stick with the current norms of his organization or take a leap towards greater possibilities. Despite the continued growth of the company s revenues each year, it was still losing market shares and mindshare. The industry was rapidly changing; its competitors were increasing in growth more rapidly each year and the loss of the customer s interest in their services (Nayar, 2010). He knew that something would have to change in order for the company to survive and thrive in a rapidly changing industry. The Use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you are thankful for things it makes you appreciate them more that way. It s good to be thankful so that you know how lucky you are. There is always something to be thankful for. I m thankful for my grandparents, my family and my dog. I am so thankful for my grandparents. They love and care for me so much in their own ways. My grandma Bev plays Gin Rummy with me whenever she visits. Usually, she comes down during Thanksgiving, and we make Thanksgiving dinner together with my mom, and my dad just eats the food while we make it. My grandma makes great gravy and cranberry sauce. My grandma Frieda and grandpa Larry like to watch golf and the cooking show with me. My grandma Frieda cooks and bakes with me and always gives me baking supplies. My grandpa Larry, when I was little, used to give me Piggy Back rides but I m too big now. My grandparents never forget any of my birthdays, ever. My grandma Bev has given me a silver dollar every birthday that I ve had. I love my grandparents so much, and I am very thankful for them. Gay marriage and adoption is widely opposed all over the globe. Though there s been recordings of people who are LGBT as early as 2400 B.C, many still oppress those inside of the community. Since the stonewall riots in 1969, the gay rights movement has been a slow progression for equal rights and social acceptance. Gay marriage isn t deducting anything from heterosexual marriages. Many make the argument that gay people shouldn t have the ability to get married because of the inability to have biological children, but many straight people can t reproduce either. In the case of gay adoption, many will argue that having same sex parents will negatively affect a child, while no studies have proven this. Gay people should be able to adopt and marry because they can raise kids as well as heterosexuals can, and marry without causing harm. Smith 2 Why is gay marriage feared by a wide variety of heterosexuals, when it doesn t take anything away from them? 44% of Australian residents opposed gay marriage in this years vote to legalize it. • 6. A Negative Relationship In Thomas King s Totem In the short story Totem by Thomas King, it is very evident that the relationship between the totem pole and the museum workers is a rather negative relationship. The relationship is depicted in Totem as an overpowering, authoritative, and entitled relationship. The relationship between the totem pole and the museum workers is depicted through the museum workers such as Mrs. Hill, Walter Hooton, and the other worker s reaction and constant need to remove the totem pole. Ultimately, the totem pole is symbolic in the story because it represents the Indigenous people in Canada. In King s short story, the museum workers are constantly trying to remove the totem pole from the museum as Walter states that, the totem pole is not part of the show, and we need to move it someplace else (King 14). This quote accurately demonstrates the controlling nature of the museum workers because they attempt to remove the totem pole numerous times, but each time is as unsuccessful as the last. This correlates to Canadian history with the settlers trying to eliminate the Indigenous people in Canadian Society which was also unsuccessful. Additionally, another example that proves the controlling nature of the workers is witnessed when Walter attempts to find the owner of the totem pole instead of just leaving it in the show. Considering this, the whole notion of ownership is very different in Indigenous and non Indigenous cultures. Indigenous culture believes that everything is to be shared and no one is an owner of anything. This concept is complete and total opposite in non Indigenous culture as everything belongs to someone. Further, the museum workers believe they have authority over the totem pole because it is essentially in the museum which, they believe, belongs to them. However, in the short story it says that, [the totem pole] goes right through the floor (King 15). This shows that the totem pole was there before the museum was built and therefore, the workers do not have the right to remove it. Walter Hooton is one of the main museum workers trying to get the totem pole out of the museum. His reason for removal is that, this totem pole is not part of the show, and we need to move it someplace else ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Classic Text Of Power And Interdependence International politics is simply defined as the academic principle which deals with the practical realities of a state s interaction with another state or several other states. This essay will outline how the classic text of Power and interdependence has shaped and continues to shape how we think about international politics. Power and interdependence, published and authored by Robert Keohane and Joseph Nye in 1977, was widely regarded as an influential book within the study of international politics. The authors wanted to challenge the fundamental assumptions of traditional and structural realism which at the time, focused on military and economic capabilities to identify state behaviour. • 8. Giuseppe Garibaldi Essay Giuseppe Garibaldi The Sword of Italian Unification My goal, which was, I believe, shared by most italians at that time, was to unite the country and rid it of foreign powers. Those who gave Italy her freedom would earn her people s gratitude (Garibaldi, page 6). During the age of Italian unification, there were three men who fought for her (Italy s) freedom. Those men were Cavour the brains, Mazzini the soul, and Garibaldi the sword (Chastain). Giuseppe Garibaldi was born in Nice in 1807 (Garibaldi, page 173). He spent his life working towards not only Italian unification, but that of France and South America. He is considered by many to be the Hero of two worlds (Chastain). Most of his account of twenty years of battle is more epic in nature, and includes many negative interactions with authority figures. In all of his autobiography, he clearly mentions his personal values at the beginning of his period of exile from Italy, and he does so with powerful language: It is difficult to find perfection among humankind: let us try to be good; let us teach the masses, as far as we can, the principles of justice and truth;; let us fight theocracy and tyranny, the embodiments of lies and evil, whatever form they take but let us show compassion toward our own cruel human race, which among its other merits has the ability to generate on half of itself made up of emperors, kings, policemen and priests, who appear to be born with all the attributes of torturers for the glory and the good of the rest of us (Garibaldi, page 48). From this quote we can clearly see that freedom, truth, and justice was the primary values of Garibaldi. This values are , in turn, aligned very closely with his organizational commitments and actions. From his book, it can inferred that he is always concerned for the safety and well being of his troops. From his oversight into obtaining a proper burial of comrade in arms, Anazini, to the constant references to the need to obtain proper clothing and food for his troops. • 11. Kony 2012 Film Analysis When a social issue arises, many activists turn to different media outlets to voice their views and demand social change. For decades, actualities known today as documentaries, have been used to give viewers an inside look on real life without being there to experience it firsthand. Often, directors use these films to persuade the audience into taking their side regarding various societal issues. Filmmakers help sway their targeted audience by using different codes and conventions to appeal their opinion effortlessly to the viewers. It can be seen in the films Kony 2012 by director James Russel, 2002 s Bowling for Columbine by Michael Moore and 1922 s Nanook of the North by Robert J. Flaherty, that directors often use subjectivity rather than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moore manipulates many facts throughout the documentary. For example, he edits Charlton Heston s speech regarding his support of the second amendment, in order to make it seem as if it was shortly after the Columbine High School shooting when in reality, it was further down the road (Bradsaw, 2002). Furthermore, the director strategically set up an interview with Heston while he was suffering from Parkinson s disease so he could ultimately take advantage of him for the sake of the film (Bradsaw, 2002). While he explores many different methods, Moore often takes on social issues in a comedic fashion to help persuade the viewers. For instance, in one clip he uses a cartoon as a representation of the civil rights movement in the United States, amplifying the ignorance of the counter view. Moore also uses Noddies and Reverse Questions in his interviews to belittle the interviewee and create a more obvious argument for the audience to side with. Lastly, Michael Moore uses video montages combined with irony to create a negative image surrounding America s gun control laws. In this clip, Moore shows violence and terror that the United States has been involved in, all the while playing Louis Armstrong s What a Wonderful World , to create a thought within the viewer that with stricter gun control laws, none of this would have ... Bill De Blasio Case New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is accused of attacking the First Amendment to the United States Constitution through his review of all of the contracts his city has with U.S. presidential contender Donald Trump. Trump has been criticized for his recent comments about immigrants from Mexico and has recently lost private sector contracts as a result. That is a prerogative reserved for private business. However, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that such actions are stifling to free speech. He paraphrased de Blasio s actions as we don t want to renew it [a Trump contract] because we don t like your speech. The free speech rights of government contractors were resolved in the landmark 1996 Umbehr case before the United States Supreme Court. • 14. The Power Of Rhetoric In Shakespeare s The Clouds Rhetoric is the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques. (Webster s) The art of oratory reached the height of its popularity in fifth century Athens, largely due to men like Socrates, Demosthenes and Plato that perfected this style of speaking and transformed it into an artform. Aristophanes, an Ancient Athenian playwright s, The Clouds is one of the best examples of how this artform changed the culture of Ancient Athens, which, in turn, helped to shape thinking in the Western world. From that point until present day, the art of speaking in a convincing manner (also known as rhetoric), has been a highly prized and sought after ability. In William Shakespeare s Measure for Measure and Aristophanes The Clouds, the characters place great importance on the skill of rhetoric. Perfecting this art insures the characters that they will be convincing in their argument, thereby, also gaining or diminishing their honor as well as the honor of the other characters. One of the most prominent examples of the power of rhetoric within Greek society comes from Aristophanes The Clouds. This play features a hardworking, traditional, but simple father, named, Strepsiades, who tries to convince his lazy, modern, but quick witted son, Pheidippides to be more like his hardworking, conservative father. Use Of Light And Dark Imagery In Romeo And Juliet In conclusion it is evident that Shakespeare uses light and dark imagery to better characterize and develop his main characters, establish general moods, and to reinforce his three themes. Certainly one can see Juliet Capulet is developed best through light imagery to express her true beauty; also, in particular depression seems to be established as the overall mood through dark imagery. The three main ideas of Romeo and Juliet are timeless; four hundred years after it was written the drama still seems to influence and replicate teenagers in this day and age. The work has been conceived into many forms such as modern film and music. The three main themes, which describe how the teenagers act in the play, infatuation, selfishness, and hastiness ... Prior to the arrival of Europeans, land care was a major purpose in life for Aboriginal people and although their approach was entirely sustainable, they were actively intervening in the landscape. They involved activities such as damming creeks, fire stick farming and sustainable harvesting methods. (Roberts, 2014) The damming of creeks created natural watering holes for their own use as well as attracting animals to the area, which incidentally resulted in a change in Australian landscape. Fire stick farming was used to promote the growth of valued plants, with plant species unable to survive fire and declining in numbers, and more resistant species, such as grass trees, eucalypts and acacias, dominating. The Indigenous harvesting techniques were also quite sustainable in conserving resources. For example, women dug some varieties of yams in such a way that a portion which would regenerate was left in the ground. Their event was named It s time for a treat. The symphony was conducted by Dr. Brain St. John. Before it began, I read over the program that was handed out to find out basic information. The history of the pieces helped in understanding them. The concert featured many well known works by famous composers such as Camille Saint Saens, Modest Mussorgsky, and Berlioz. The three pieces that are the most memorable in my mind are Overture to La Cenerentola , Là ci darem la mano , and March to the Scaffold from Symphonie Fantastique. Beginning with the first piece called Overture to La Cenerentola composed by Gioachino Rossini in 1817. It was part of the Rossini s version of the opera, Cinderella. An overture is used to capture the audience s attention. It informs the audience the concert is about to begin. This piece is still a good selection for an overture. The contrasting soft and loud pitches made a good way to get the audience s attention. Over the nine seasons of this show, we see Brooke go from a wild teen not caring about her future regarding careers to an admirable, hardworking, and focus individual. Throughout her high school teen years, Brooke lacked parental guidance in her household. In her childhood years, she witnessed a lot of fighting and arguments of her parents. She never really gave much thought to what she wanted to become in the future because she lacked that motivation from her parents. Later on, Brooke develops a strong interest in designing her own clothes and begins her own clothing line, Clothes Over Bros, while still being a senior in high school. After she graduates from high school, four years pass and we see Brooke become a major and well known fashion designer in New York and her clothing company had already made millions. This is where Brooke Davis experienced the status of identity achievement. Her clothing line started as a small idea in high school and through exploration of the fashion designer world, her dream became a reality. I would not say that she ever experienced the status of identity moratorium because she never really was torn between to career areas. • 21. Casilda In The Judge s Wife By Isabel Allende Indeed, a woman should soften but not weaken a man. This supposition exemplifies the character Casilda from The Judge s Wife short story by Isabel Allende. Although not seen by all as the main character, Casilda is the strongest and most evolutionary personality of the short story. The Judge s Wife is an exceptional tale that follows the progression of characters as they fight against their predetermined destinies and how they are viewed in others eyes. Casilda is a catalyst for the evolution of almost every character in the story. Not only does her character grow in The Judge s Wife, but she is also a medium for the growth of the two other main characters in the story. Casilda molds the personality of a majority of the characters in the story, distinctly Judge Hidalgo and Nicolas Vida. Casilda noticeably changed the character of Judge Hidalgo, into a softer man, in his field of professionalism. In a close analysis of this narrative, we find that the Judge was a very cranky bachelor who was very feared by all, in the village he lived, for his stubbornness and severe temper. We are told that, when he enforced the law, Judge Hidalgo failed to give any account of the whys and wherefores behind the indicted committing the crime. According to the author, not only did the judge refuse to apply any common sense in his judgments but was also equally harsh in his condemnation of the theft of a chicken as of premeditated murder (Allende 284). Across the village, not a single person was safe from his cruelty. However, the judge changed, significantly after he married Casilda. All this came to reality when the priest and a group of Catholic women approached Casilda to plead for the life of Juana the Forlorn, a poor old woman who was subjected to torture for the reason that she made an effort to capture her son. Casalda heeded to their requests and set forth for the town, with a bottle of fresh water and a basket of food, taking her children dressed in their Sunday best. Well, what news sources are the public supposed to be trusting, anyway? Do objective media outlets even exist anymore? Media bias has done incomprehensible damage to the thoughts, opinions, and beliefs of the citizens of this nation. Newspapers, magazines, news channels, and reporters themselves have an ethical responsibility to inform the public of the entire truth, not to spread their own agenda across the nation. Because the public relies so heavily on the media for information, it is immoral for news outlets to be even the slightest bit subjective to one side. The media affects everyone s way of thinking.
