Mechanical And Structural Factors Of An Aircraft
Aircrafts are and always have been a great mode of transportation and come with many clear
advantages over many other forms of transportation . This in turn may be one of the main causes of
their popularity and success over the years. Aircrafts are used commercially, Privately and they even
have military applications. Aircrafts have always been an iconic sign of freedom. Even in the media
and in commercial advertisements an airplane can be a symbolic tool used to instill security, freedom
and luxury. Although there have been a great many advancements in mechanics and engineering of the
aircrafts over the years, and many people consider them to be a reliable mode of transportation they
still all have the capacity for mechanical or structural failures. In this paper we will begin to explore
some of the main causes of these failures as well as the mechanical and structural factors behind them.
An aircraft will typically fail because of an excess of stress applied to one or multiple mechanical or
structural components. A more exact definition of stress is; The force perpendicular to the cross
sectional area of the member divided by the cross sectional area. (chapter 8 lecture) There are several
different types of stress and certain points of stress on an aircraft are more susceptible to damage or
failure. In this paper we will also begin to analyze these factors to provide a more clear understanding
of the mechanical and structural factors of aviation. According to Dr. Hans

John Brown And The Abolition Movement
also the value of non violent resistance supported by the transcendentalists and, There were many
prominent figures in the Abolition movement that made great strides to freedom. Most took the route
of political campaigning, but a few decided to take a more direct approach. One said individual is John
Brown. John Brown was a white abolitionist born in Connecticut who simply grew tired of the pacifist
approach and took up arms with a few volunteers against slavery. Brown was born the son of Owen
Brown, a tanner, in the town of Torrington, Connecticut. The Browns were conventional evangelicals,
and John went to school in Massachusetts to become a Congregationalist minister. Unfortunately he
ran out of money and returned to his family and opened his own tannery with his brother. He soon
started a family and his tannery was growing to a very successful business. A few years came to pass,
and tragedy struck his family. One of his sons died, Brown became very sick, he incurred a
tremendous amount of debt, and his wife passed shortly after the death of a newborn son. A year later
he would marry 16 year old Mary Ann, and have 13 children, creating a total of 20 children of which
only 11 would survive into adulthood. After moving his family to the town of Franklin Mills, Ohio, he
opened a new tannery but soon fell victim to the Panic of 1837, leaving him in more debt. He took up
horse and sheep breeding, as well as many other efforts to relieve himself of his debts. Brown was

Taxi Driver Film Noir
Film noir is described not as a genre, but as a specific style. It was the primary style in Hollywood
between the 1940 s and mid 1950 s due to the increase in pessimism towards humanity after the
second world war began. The films primarily expressed this attitude through a voiceover, also known
as a voice of God , from the main, brooding protagonist. They often narrated their opinions and
thoughts on the events surrounding and circumstances them. These opinions were dark in nature, with
a sense of no hope and constant despair. It was this disparity that often lead the main character through
a psychological development throughout the film, especially during the Psychological Era of film
noir; this era featured a drastically changed protagonist, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

lighting contrast commonly used in classic noir films. The combination of the character development
and the syntax of the film justify why Taxi Driver can be considered as a successful neo noir

India Pakistan Negotiation is Best in the Interest of Pakistan
The ongoing rivalry and military grievances between India and Pakistan have compelled both the
countries to invest a considerable amount of their resources into defense which could be better utilized
in initiating development projects. Decades of internal political disputes and low levels of foreign
investment have led to slow growth and underdevelopment in Pakistan. Agriculture accounts for more
than one fifth of output and two fifths of employment. Textiles account for most of Pakistan s export
earnings, and Pakistan s failure to expand a viable export base for other manufactures has left the

Even the leaders of nascent state of Pakistan were warned that they must fence the way leading to
Jammu or they would lose Kashmir. India deprived Pakistan of this right by claiming Kashmir to be a
part of India s territory. India is adamant on maintaining that Jammu and Kashmir are its integral part.
In 1947, India and Pakistan had war over Kashmir. During the war, it was India which first took the
Kashmir dispute to the United Nations on 1st January 1948 and in the following year on 1stJanuary
1949, the UN enforced ceasefire between the two countries (Pakistan Mission To United
Nations).Sixty six years have passed since then and throughout the period Kashmiris have given a lot
of sacrifices. Pakistan s government and leadership today seem eager to find a solution to the issue
with India. Since 1953, more than 150 sessions of talks have been held in vain The Kashmir issue has
remained unresolved till date with people having multiple views regarding the ownership of Kashmir.
Both India and Pakistan wish to make Kashmir a part of their territory because Kashmir has so many
valuable resources such as natural gas and gypsum (Encyclopedia Britannica),so both countries want
to achieve a competitive edge over the other. In addition to this, the identified potential of Hydro

which enhances the value of Kashmir for both the nations ( Hydro Electric powers Jammu

Ender s Game Analysis Essay
Ender s Game Analysis In the movie Ender s Game, there are many differences and many similarities
between the book and the movie. The reader would have noticed more differences than did
similarities. Some of the differences in the movie were large, some were subtle. Some parts were left
out of the movie entirely. The main scenes that are going to be concentrated on in this paper are The
Giant s Drink, Ender s progression through the ranks, the buggers, and Graff s control over the
soldiers. In the book and the movie alike, The Giant s Drink is a game engineered by the IF to train
strategic thinking. The main conflict in the game is when a seemingly impassable giant gives you the

In both the movie and the book, Ender graduated from Launchy , to soldier, to a commander of his
own platoon, to a trainee for a commander, to Supreme Commander of the IF. In the movie, most of
the promotions went smoothly and were similar with the book. All of these were similar up until the
graduation from Battle School to Command School. In the book, Ender first fought Bonzo, and then
proceeded to fight 2 armies, where afterward he was promoted from Battle School to Command
School. In the movie, Ender first fought 2 armies, one of them being Bonzo s. Only afterwards Ender
was confronted by Bonzo, and while Ender was watching Bonzo in the infirmary after the fight, Graff
approached him and informed him about his promotion. The makers of the movie rearranged the order
of the fights and the promotions in order to give Bonzo a stronger reason to confront Ender (the defeat
of his army and previous reasons), therefore building up to the fight, most likely to make the plot
simpler. Either way, the events in the book and movie both created the same results, keeping the

Cleopatra and Her Relationship with Roman Caesars
Stacy Schiff is a remarkable writer and a historian. She has a Pulitzer Prize to prove it, and she is also
a guest writer for the New York Times and various newspapers. Her latest work is Cleopatra: A Life.
Schiff tells how Cleopatra was a very remarkable woman. Even after Octavian, Cleopatra was known
as the wicked women in the world.
Schiff tells much about Cleopatra s life involving Mark Antony and Julius Caesar. Schiff ensures us
that Cleopatra had one of the top educations from Alexandria. Caesar did not only stay in Egypt for
Cleopatra s seductress ways, however Caesar wanted to get rein over his enemies. When Caesar was
murdered, by a group of schemers, in the Roman Senate, his adopted great nephew Gaius Octavius
was his only heir. Mark Antony thought he was heir to the Roman Empire but however, Caesar had
different plans.
Janet Suzman tells the story of how Shakespeare wrote the play about Cleopatra and Mark Antony.
Suzman says Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is a horrific story of a formally mighty conqueror
who is infatuated with the Queen of Egypt. Antony was so obsessed with Cleopatra and how she led
him to his death. (Draycott, 38 44) Suzman said that Cleopatra and Antony had a horrible love story.
Schiff tells the story of Cleopatra and Antony very similar to Suzman. However, Cleopatra and Antony
s relationship had its problems. Schiff believed that Antony and Cleopatra had much in common. They
were both left out of Caesar s will. Schiff also tells how

Changing Voting Restrictions
Have you ever felt like the government is trying to take away your voice? Well if you allow them to
take away your right to vote with new restrictions on who can or can not vote then that is what they
are basically doing. It would be taking away the already small voice you have in your governmental
system. If they were to change the requirements then it would cause mass confusion of election day, it
would be erasing what some people fought for to earn the right to vote, and the voting rate is low
enough.
One of the main reasons why we should not change the voting restrictions it that it would cause mass
confusion when it came to election day. Election day is already heptic enough when it comes time for
the american people to vote for their next commander in chief. It would just add on to the craiz and
confusion if people went to go vote and was not allowed to because of a new type of restriction out
that they did not know of. For example, during the 2016 election between Hillary Clinton and Donald
Trump there were 14 different states that had new voting laws. One of the 14 states that changed their
voting laws was Connecticut. When election day came around people that were working the polls in
Connecticut was improperly insisting for voters to show photo ... Show more content on

time when certain people did not have the right to vote. ( History of Voting Rights ) The last reason
why we should not have any more voting restrictions is because we already have a low voting rate as
it is. If we had any more requirements than the voting rate would be even

Sexism In Epic Of Gilgamesh
The world is still sexist. Barbara Broccoli. From the creation story to modern day, women and men
still struggle with a power dynamic of inferiority and superiority. The problem of sexism has been
ever present throughout history, and although it has been acknowledged by many, it has not been
eradicated or resolved. Although the acknowledgment of sexism has grown over the course of the
modern era, it is heavily rooted in society s developmental process, which makes it continuously
difficult to annihilate. Furthermore, throughout many historical texts, women are often represented as
objects instead of real people. Within texts, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Bible, the Quran, and
the Torah, women are constantly regarded as inferiors instead of equals with men. Throughout these
texts, there is a clear separation between the treatment of men and women, with women always being
referred to as property. The Epic of Gilgamesh contains several instances where women are regarded
as objects that solely provide men with pleasure, specifically with the story of Shamat and Enkidu. In
the beginning of the epic, the story is introduced with the creation of Enkidu and his transformation
into a human being; a vital part of Enkidu s transformation being a woman named Shamat. Shamat
acts as the bait or lure that leads Enkidu out of his animalistic lifestyle, and causes him to become
human. In order to do so, Shamat is told to do sexual acts that will arouse Enkidu. For example, the

to my question, according to Vonnegut was, So it goes (Vonnegut p.214). This in fact would be the
root of my problems in trying to grasp the character of Billy Pilgrim and the life, in which he leads

insanity, finally followed by sanctuary, if layed out in a proper time order sequence. Billy is a victim,

They like God take no part in the changing or altering of the past, present or future. The moment is
structured that way (Vonnegut p.117). God does not interfere, due to the concept of free will for
beings. While the Tralfamadorians take no part because of their believe in no free will. Only on Earth
is there any talk of free will (Vonnegut p.86). The existence of free will is the major difference
between the two sources of knowledge. God uses free will to allow actions to take place in order to
remain the father figure or overseer of life, in which Jesus Christ preached to the masses. The
Tralfamadorians seeing in the fourth dimension exclude the existence of free will because of their
ability to see the time line of existence at any moment. Thus believing the pre determined destiny of
all creatures. This believe does not allow them to take any action in the change of the universe because
they do not have the free will to do so, therefore time goes without altercation. This believe is
supported when the Tralfamadorians state that they know how the universe ends and will do nothing
about it because it is the way it shall be, even though they themselves cause the destruction. We blow
it up, experimenting with new fuels for our flying saucers; the whole Universe disappears (Vonnegut
p.117).

notorious criminals of the late 20th century. As a murderer and a rapist, he admitted to 36 killings of
young women across several states in the 1970s and he raped more than 100 women (Biography 2017:

Analysis Of Wonders Of The Invisible World By Cotton Mather
The short story, Wonders of the Invisible World by Cotton Mather, tells of how the devil is working
around Boston. He tells this story from his own perspective in which he believes the devil is working
in secret, and through the youth. One of the trials used as an example was Martha Carrier who was
found guilty based on the information collected by Cotton Mather. Nathaniel Hawthorne, writer of the
famous Scarlet Letter , writes a short story from the narrator s perspective, and how he visits his friend
called Oberon. Oberon believes that the devil is residing within his writing and insists to the narrator
that he must burn the manuscript to cast the devil out. The evidence that leads Oberon to believe that
the devil is in his writing draws from publishers refusing to accept his work. In Wonders of the
Invisible World , Mather suggests the devil resides in people who collect in hellish meetings where
they discuss how to destroy the kingdom on out lord Jesus Christ. He uses Martha Carrier as an
example of someone who is possessed by the devil and seeks to corrupt others and do harm to those
who follow God. He provides evidence by bringing witnesses to Carrier s torment, including her
children. How the devil is portrayed in The Devil in the Manuscript is more figurative rather than
literal. Oberon believes the devil possessed his writing because no one wants to publish what he
wrote. This is likely less literal than what Cotton Mather means, and is likely attributed from his ego
and belief that his writing is too great to be his fault. The portrayal of the devil within the Wonders of
the Invisible World is literal, and is inspired through fear and incredibly strict devotion to one religion.
Cotton Mather believes the devil is literally possessing people and using those he possesses to corrupt
others. He uses Martha Carrier as an example of how the devil will do this by bringing in her children
to the trial. The children confessed on trial that not only that they were witches themselves, but that
their mother had made them so. This helped strengthen Mather s argument that the devil is working
through people to corrupt others. The children s confession also helped give support to Mather s
theory

The South China Sea
The South China Sea (S.C.S.) is one of the most politically tense and economically important areas in
the world today. Every year, $5.3 trillion of trade passes through the S.C.S $1.2 trillion of which
belongs to the US. The importance of the S.C.S. has led to increasingly strained tension as competing
territorial claims have sharpened over recent years. Tensions have developed over the PRC s vague
claim to the majority of the S.C.S. The so called nine dash line was originally laid down by the
Republic of China in 1947 as an eleven dash line has been the source of conflict in Southeast Asia for
some years. In 1974 the PRC seized part of the Paracels from South Vietnam, and in 1988 China and
Vietnam had a bloody clash over Johnson Reef. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The US, the regions historic de facto power, has a vital interest in maintain stability, specifically in
regards to the freedom of navigation and free trade. Though each major actor has its own goals and
agenda, the US has the most potential to ease tensions and establish a new regional dynamic that
encourages a unified ASEAN and responsible PRC. Within the PRC there is a strong sentiment that
now is China s time to take its place as a major actor in a new multipolar world. This is a key aspect of
Xi Jinping s China Dream and a growing pillar of party legitimacy as the Chinese economy slows and
matures. A key aspect for China to be perceived as a hub of power is to have the ability to assert its
interest in the region. As such, Chinese policy towards the S.C.S has been described as developing a
sphere of influence similar to the US in the Caribbean during the 19th and 20th century. The South
East Asian region would be economically interconnected through Chinese investment and
development, creating demand for Chinese goods and services. Politically, smaller states would have
the PRC as an advocate and China would insulate itself with friendly neighbors. In an effort to project
its growing role in the South East Asia the PRC has adopted a renewed and more provocative
approach to regional politics with more assertive stances on various disputed areas, including the nine
dash line. By claiming the vast majority of the S.C.S., or the land features in it, Beijing is

A Research Study On Breastfeeding
Case study: breastfeeding
Breast feeding rates in developed countries such as the UK, Australia and the US are typically lower
than World Health Organisation goals Parkinson (2010) 3. From a study carried out by Queensland
university stressed the importance of not only the delivery of literature on how effective breastfeeding
is for your babies health but that what was also needed to increase the number of breast feeders was to
give personal support and explains social and environmental benefits also. When they looked at the
UK in particular, Parkinson (2010) 3 stated women already understood that breastfeeding was good
for their baby, and what they needed were the tools to help them to breastfeed longer. From this it is
clear that although effective and sufficient information around the benefits of the child is being
addressed, there is no sufficient information or skills being given direct to the parents in order for
them to carry this out for any length of time. Another piece of research was carried out in 2010 on
ways to change the paradigm of breastfeeding, from encouraging promotion of breast feeding within
the employment setting. Dr Lawrence (2010) 1 said instead of promoting the tremendous benefits of
breastfeeding to this population, the risks of formula feeding and the costs to health and the
community of not breastfeeding will have to incorporated into persuading these women to do the best

However like with any industry, things are changing and developments always occurring which are
affecting many parts of the fashion industry. Tungate goes on to highlight the most obvious
development is the availability on the web. The images of a show are displayed less than an hour after
the designer has taken a bow. With this easy accessibility there is becoming less and less need for
buyers to attend shows and instead they are able to choose their key pieces right from their own
offices. Tungate also recognizes that private pre collection gatherings in showrooms are taking place
before the actual show. This gives the buyer a chance to place their orders without the razza matazz
and overheads (Tungate,2004,12) of a show. One may ask that if 70% of stock is being sold at pre
collections ( Tungate,2004,12) then why is it necessary for designers to stage a show at all? This comes
back to what we mentioned earlier about showcasing the brand .A show is no longer about selling a
particular garment it is about selling the look and that is McDowells justification into its considerable
costs. He believes that a show easily costs £150,000 and this sum cannot be used just for the designers
indulgence,it has to serve a purpose.
Let s take a look at what Tungate might mean when using the word razzmatazz . Perhaps the best
example for us to look at is Karl Lagerfelds Fall/Winter 07 collection that was

For centuries, humans have loved stories, particularly ones they can either relate to, or ones that are
plain exciting. A story of adventure, mystery, and the honest against the malevolent... the book series
The Castaways of the Flying Dutchman had all of this. Brian Jacques wrote the series, with the first
book published in 2001 and the last one in 2006, spanning over a three book series. The first one is the
one that named the series, the second book called The Angel s Command, and the author named the
final installment The Voyage of Slaves. The series follows two characters, a boy named Ben and his
dog, Ned, as they travel through the world on land and sea, facing diabolical people and plans. The

Also, the author based the legend in the story off of a real sailor s tale. As previously stated, the legend
this uses features the ghost ship The Flying Dutchman, a name that people have used over and over
again. Although Jacques changed parts of the legend a bit to fit the series, it introduces the reader to a
whole new world of stories. Adapting a legend adds a whole new depth to the story, as it makes the
narrative so appealing. Personally, I had never heard of this legend before, but the first novel actually
made me want to learn more about that time period and the legends mariners would tell of the
mysteries of the sea. Known for his skill in writing the Redwall books, Brian Jacques carried this style
over into the Castaways series. He uses vivid figurative language, exquisite vocabulary, exceptional
dialogue techniques, and creates memorable characters all throughout the whole series. In The Angel s
Command, the very first sentence of the book reads, Great and golden, like an enormous, newly
minted doubloon, the Caribbean sun presided over the waterfront. From merely the first sentence, the
reader can see how amazing Jacques writes, using similes and excellent vocabulary. Yet he doesn t
write with words that no one can even read, let alone understand. Jacques does a fine job writing with
words that are the slightest bit complex that it increases the reader s vocabulary, yet they know what
they are reading.

Similarities Between Odysseus And Harriet Tubman
Heroic Comparison: Who s The Real Hero
Odysseus is considered a hero in his own one sided story whilst Harriet Tubman is considered a hero
by all. Although Harriet Tubman did not experience the traditional type of the twelve stages of a hero s
journey, that does not make her any less of a hero than Odysseus seems to be. In fact whilst following
the guide of the twelve stages to a hero s journey, Harriet Tubman can be viewed as a better hero
parse, than Odysseus. Although in most cases to be viewed as a hero you must be a superhero, killer,
god, or something of the sorts, Harriet can be viewed as a hero despite being an ordinary African
American woman in the racist 1800 s. However this does not mean that her story follows the 12 stages

Although Harriet and Odysseus went through multiple ordeals , by taking the inciting ordeals and
comparing it is found that they display the ordeal very differently but still very well. Harriet s
(arguably) biggest ordeal came by 1856 when she was captured for a 40,000$ reward. This is a perfect
example for an ordeal because it shows the hero getting trapped in a situation and she needs to find a
way out. Harriet gets her way out of this sticky situation by reading a book since her wanted poster
stated that she was illiterate. Odysseus story is similar in the sense that he gets trapped, however in
Odysseus story he wasn t alone in his situation, he had his crew with him to assist in the escape from
his ordeal. This ordeal happened to be, getting stuck in a giant Cyclops lair/home. Odysseus does
make it out alive by tricking the Cyclops into drinking wine which later makes him very drowsy,
therefore the cyclops takes a nap. In his slumber the crew and Odysseus puncture the cyclops one eye

Sarbanes-Oxley s Code Of Ethics
First, we need to grasp how Codes of ethics were created and if formulated from a standard boilerplate
Ethics program. As stated by FindLaw.com under Corporate Ethics and Sarbanes Oxley, in order to
create code of ethics, an organization must define its most important guiding values, formulate
behavioral standards to illustrate the application of those values to the roles and responsibilities of the
persons affected, review the existing procedures for guidance and direction as to how those values and
standards are typically applied, and establish the systems and processes to ensure that the code is
implemented and effective. (Navran, 2003) A company can work to promote ethical behavior;
however, the process is not easily created from boilerplate. (Navran, 2003) The process has been

The Decline Of Marriage And Family Life
The concept of a traditional American family has been profoundly changed over the last 100 years.
Fewer marriages are forming, divorce rates are higher than ever, and childlessness is much more
common. The decline of marriage and family life seems to be the inevitable product of progressive
ideas and modern socio political conditions. Feminist and contemporary liberal critics of marriage and
family life appeal to individual rights, liberty, consent, equality, and love as they seek to dismantle and
undermine commitment to marriage and family life. However, some scholars would propose that the
actions and words of America s Founders show how to reconcile marriage and family life with the
same modern ideas of equality, individual rights, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In West s two books it is very clear that men and woman of the founding era placed family first, the
belief [being] that family integrity was indispensable for the public safety and happiness, (Vindicating
the Founders, pg. 85). Their beliefs were based on the fact that there are differences between the
sexes, differences that correspond to the traditional gender roles in the family, (Vindicating the
Founders, pg. 85). Today, this claim is easily dismissed by critics of the Founders views. Marriage was
defined by the Massachusetts supreme court in 1810 as an engagement, by which a single man and a
single woman, of sufficient discretion, take each other for husband and wife, (The Political Theory of
the American Founding, pg. 220). For the Founder and people of the time, the right to marry [was] no
less fundamental than freedom of religion and of the press, (The Political Theory of the American
Founding, pg. 221). Marriage was a natural right practiced by a large majority and considered an
important component of human happiness. And, since pursuinift g happiness is a natural right,
marriage is therefore a part of that right, (The Political Theory of the American Founding, pg. 221).
Better expressing this view of the time is Zephaniah Swift, the connection between husband and
wife... when founded on a mutual attachment and the ardor of youthful passions, is productive of the
purest joys and tenderest transports that gladden the heart, (The

Ernest Hemingway s Life And Accomplishments
Ernest William Hemingway was born 1899 in the suburbs of Illinois. Hemingway had a good
relationship with his family. They were so encouraging that he became a singer and musician. With a
rich background he pursued anything that interested him from football to literature. Hemingway tried
to participate in the army but he ended up volunteering for the Red Cross traveling to Europe and
Italy. Married and then divorced in 1929 he dedicated his life to writing and continued the journey
around the world to provide himself with material for his upcoming works. Katherine Anne Porter was
born in 1889 in Texas, like Hemingway porters parents were very educated, however they were not
rich. Porters family had a traumatic event when her mother died in 1982, deeply affected her. She also
became a musician and educator. However, her life was filled with disappointments; her rocky
marriages, and unsuccessful attempts in movies. Porter became unhappy and in 1913 she devoted
herself to the literature and became a journalist. She traveled mostly to Mexico and encouraged the
folk art of the locals. Even though the middle of her life was unsuccessful she was later appointed
chair of poetry and literature at the Library of Congress. Both stories were inspired by the places that
writers went the most, Porter s Flowering Judas is set in Mexico and Hemingway s Big Two Hearted

Multi Dimensional Factors Which Influence The Planning,...
This report aims to discuss the multi dimensional factors which influence the planning,
implementation, and the evaluation of health interventions. The first part is the discussion of the
impact of the determinant factors such as the demographic distribution of populations, the political
values, the religious beliefs, the human values, the ethnicity, and traditions in the whole process, as
mentioned above of health interventions. The next section is about the public views and attitudes on
health and the factor that can alter health state such as illness, as well as the public attitudes towards
health and medical advocates. Lastly, this report will talk the different influences of the interaction
from cultural, social, national and international policy on the planning, implementation, and
evaluation of health interventions in New Zealand.
Demographic Distribution of Populations
Rapid influx of migrants with diverse ethnicity and cultural background, with different social and
economic status, age group that varies from birth, active years, and geriatric are factors that
contributes to changes in population demographics, that has specific demands which needs special
focus and attention. More people in the societies prefer to settle now in city than in countryside areas.
The rapid rate of urbanization in growing regions test the capability of governments to effectively
design and run into the necessities of the rising numbers of city dwellers. As metropolis residents

Ainu Research Paper
Introduction November 1st, 2016 My name is Sarah Ohly. I am a Cultural Anthropologist, I am in the
Southern Kuril Islands Well journal first thing I want to get straight is I am studying the Ainu because
I mainly wanted to learn about a culture that has different climates and environmental struggles than
mine. I am staying with Petennouk and his wife Toitoi. They are both very generous and they have
two kids, Munneke and Ipokash. The Ainu has a tropical climate everyday. In winter, there is much
less rainfall than in summer. This climate is considered to be amazing according to the Köppen Geiger
climate classification. The temperature here averages 27.0 °C. So their living conditions are very wet
and hot all year round. That is a huge difference ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will start with how the kids learn first. Traditionally children were taught at home. Grandparents read
poems and tales while parents taught practical skills. From the late nineteenth century on, Ainu were
educated in Japanese schools. The Ainu still face discrimination. Ainu children that go to these
Japanese schools are often bullied and called Inu (Japanese for dog ). About 3.8 percent of Ainu are on
welfare, 1.3 points higher than the national average and only 17.4 percent of Ainus received a
university education, compared to the national average of 38.5 percent. The age of marriage was 17
18years old for men and 15 16 years for women.. At these ages, both male and female are considered
as adults. Some background history is the Meiji government s 1899 assimilation policies resulted in
the ban of the Ainu language and Ainu children being given Japanese names. Some things the children
get from their parents are the Ainu try to keep ancient traditions alive today. They teach the children
their old ways. They believe in worship of fire dominated daily life and Ainu culture. Most Ainu
children wear decorative robes or cloths tied together with pretty designs. Almost every Ainu child has
short hair just due to how the parents grew up. I still have lots to learn about the children and their
daily life but those are just some basic facts. Well I better stop writing and do what I came here to do. I

Stages of Economic Reform in China
China had gone through a major reformation that is called Socialism with Chinese characteristics that
started in late 1978, sparked by a very influential politician and leader, Deng Xiaoping. The
reformation is carried out in different stages. It is very important to understand these stages, as each
stage is the prerequisite for China to move to another stage. Large scale of government planning is
heavily involved throughout the reformation. Despite having to go through financial crisis couple of
times, globally and throughout Asia, China seemed to respond quickly and effectively to handle these
difficult situations. As of today, China remains as an admiration and aspiration for not only countries
in Asia, but also around the world. According to Tian (1996), there are three stages of economic
reform in China. The first stage is characterized by economic liberalization. This stage was said to be
the most remarkable stage as it has greatly changed the Chinese people s values, thinking and
behavior. The changes were first introduced to people in rural areas and later to other industries and
geographic areas. The first stage involved a lot of efforts to the development of foreign trade. China
began to adopt decentralized decision making and various types of incentive mechanisms. China has
been using its abundant supply of labor effectively since then. The second stage of the economic
reform is described by marketization. This stage can only be carried out effectively only

completely immersed in it. I went so deep I could feel the water pressure. Was I going to die? I moved
my hands and feet vigorously as if a shark was chasing me. I wanted to get out, breathe a gulp of air
and feel the air. I wanted to cry. With my eyes still closed and my heart beating rapidly all I did was
shout, help me, help me but no one came. I was sure there were around 5 people out there who were
supposed to save us. And even though I was there, shouting for help with all my might, no one
approached me. I slowly opened my eyes and tada, there I was floating in the river (uI forgot I had air
jacket on for safety) shouting for help and stamping my hand in the water. They must have thought I
was crazy. Well, it was a beautiful, sunny morning. We were all having breakfast. As usual I was
having toast with yak butter and sugar and I was talking with my Indian friend who came to visit us on
her holiday. We were comparing the food, culture and language of Nepal and India. Even though most
of the expressions, food, festivals, of both the countries are similar we have difference in the way we
celebrate them. Our main festival is Dashain which is celebrated by receiving blessings and tika (made
by red colour and rice) from elders, eating good food and wearing nice dresses. We like things to be

Economic Restructuring And Revitalization Of Detroit...
Abstract
This paper explores the economic restructuring and revitalization of Detroit Michigan post World War
II until today. The purpose of this research paper is to show the history of Detroit s auto and
manufacturing industry, in what ways it has changed in recent years, and how it has helped define the
economy of Detroit and damaged it. This paper suggests that the deindustrialization of plants and
industries and the depopulation of whites to the Suburbs have triggered the economic downfall of the
Motor City. Some social issues such as race discrimination and segregation that might have led to the
riots of 1943, and 1967, and the migration of African Americans to Northern States in search of
employments will be discussed as well. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
General Motors, the country s leader in defense contracts, is firmly fixed in the public mind with the
manufacture of automobiles... 35 percent of its total business is non automotive. This diversification...
gives General Motors an enormous advantage... But little of this helps Michigan now, since G.M. no
longer concentrates its military work in this area (Widick, 1959, Pg. 1).
Widick (1959) suggests that a large percentage of the manufacturing was military based, however after
World War II, General Motors expanded its military production to other cities and countries losing the
main focus on Detroit. The manufacturing of war weapons, vehicles, and airplanes generated the
economic spur in Detroit and the United States during World War II because the United States
produced weapons and military technology to allied countries without fully involving manpower in
the war. The massive production of military products ended after the war and the production of
weapons had decreased.

Cultural Diversity And Tolerance Through Our Television...
Josh Obrien Canadian Studies 339 UCID #00278635 In Canada there is a strong reflection of our
cultural diversity and tolerance through our television shows, as they have the ability to use the
humour of realistic narratives and social dynamics to highlight social equality and intercultural
balance. A recent show that did this was Canadian television show Little Mosque on the Prairie,
created by Zarqa Nawaz through WestWind Pictures. It was filmed in Toronto Ontario and a small
community named Indian Head Saskatewan. The show aired in 2007, but was then rebroadcast to
other countries including parts of Africa, Israel and Gaza strip (Macdonald 2012). Zarqa Nawaz based
much of the show on her personal experiences, and many of the characters are partially inspired by her
family and friends. Nawaz claims that the nature of the show is not necessarily a satire, rather she
states: Little Mosque on the Prairie is a sit com and not a political satire. I want people to find the
hilarity in the show and recognize the similar issues that appear in all our lives. It s important to
normalize the community within the greater community so as not to be seen as the other but to
recognize that we all have universal themes which exist in all communities. I simply want people to
laugh with Muslims like they would laugh at anyone else and feel comfortable doing so (Oumlil 2012:

Comparing Frankenstein And Grendel s Mother In Beowulf
As seen in Frankenstein, appearance and characteristics are everything when deciding if someone or
something is monster worthy. Grendel s mother in Beowulf is described as a fatherless creature
(1355.) suggesting she is not man made. This suggestion implies she breaks the social norm of this
society. She and her son are often correlated with darkness. Any term that correlates with darkness is
feared by humans because it is a place that we cannot fully see. It is a place where the unknown lurks.
Yet, she looks like a woman (1351.) but because she was not conceived how a normal human being
would be, she is outcasted and looked upon as monster. Grendel s mother characteristics are similar to

  • 3. John Brown And The Abolition Movement also the value of non violent resistance supported by the transcendentalists and, There were many prominent figures in the Abolition movement that made great strides to freedom. Most took the route of political campaigning, but a few decided to take a more direct approach. One said individual is John Brown. John Brown was a white abolitionist born in Connecticut who simply grew tired of the pacifist approach and took up arms with a few volunteers against slavery. Brown was born the son of Owen Brown, a tanner, in the town of Torrington, Connecticut. The Browns were conventional evangelicals, and John went to school in Massachusetts to become a Congregationalist minister. Unfortunately he ran out of money and returned to his family and opened his own tannery with his brother. He soon started a family and his tannery was growing to a very successful business. A few years came to pass, and tragedy struck his family. One of his sons died, Brown became very sick, he incurred a tremendous amount of debt, and his wife passed shortly after the death of a newborn son. A year later he would marry 16 year old Mary Ann, and have 13 children, creating a total of 20 children of which only 11 would survive into adulthood. After moving his family to the town of Franklin Mills, Ohio, he opened a new tannery but soon fell victim to the Panic of 1837, leaving him in more debt. He took up horse and sheep breeding, as well as many other efforts to relieve himself of his debts. Brown was even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The films primarily expressed this attitude through a voiceover, also known as a voice of God , from the main, brooding protagonist. They often narrated their opinions and thoughts on the events surrounding and circumstances them. These opinions were dark in nature, with a sense of no hope and constant despair. It was this disparity that often lead the main character through a psychological development throughout the film, especially during the Psychological Era of film noir; this era featured a drastically changed protagonist, ... As the film processes, the rain begins to symbolize a new start after Travis saves Iris; the water washes away his previous deeds and thoughts of assassinating the presidential candidate. The rain in the beginning and middle of the film as symbolize the overall gloomy atmosphere Travis has to work in. He is depressed and constantly makes negative remarks towards the human race and the city. Even the colors of the environment add to the monotone mood; they were filled with dark palettes that were illuminated only by the stark neon signs. This clearly references to the distinct black and white lighting contrast commonly used in classic noir films. India Pakistan Negotiation is Best in the Interest of Pakistan The ongoing rivalry and military grievances between India and Pakistan have compelled both the countries to invest a considerable amount of their resources into defense which could be better utilized in initiating development projects. Decades of internal political disputes and low levels of foreign investment have led to slow growth and underdevelopment in Pakistan. Agriculture accounts for more than one fifth of output and two fifths of employment. India deprived Pakistan of this right by claiming Kashmir to be a part of India s territory. India is adamant on maintaining that Jammu and Kashmir are its integral part. Pakistan s government and leadership today seem eager to find a solution to the issue with India. Since 1953, more than 150 sessions of talks have been held in vain The Kashmir issue has remained unresolved till date with people having multiple views regarding the ownership of Kashmir. The reader would have noticed more differences than did similarities. Some of the differences in the movie were large, some were subtle. Some parts were left out of the movie entirely. The main scenes that are going to be concentrated on in this paper are The Giant s Drink, Ender s progression through the ranks, the buggers, and Graff s control over the soldiers. In the movie, most of the promotions went smoothly and were similar with the book. All of these were similar up until the graduation from Battle School to Command School. In the book, Ender first fought Bonzo, and then proceeded to fight 2 armies, where afterward he was promoted from Battle School to Command School. In the movie, Ender first fought 2 armies, one of them being Bonzo s. Only afterwards Ender was confronted by Bonzo, and while Ender was watching Bonzo in the infirmary after the fight, Graff approached him and informed him about his promotion. The makers of the movie rearranged the order of the fights and the promotions in order to give Bonzo a stronger reason to confront Ender (the defeat of his army and previous reasons), therefore building up to the fight, most likely to make the plot simpler. Either way, the events in the book and movie both created the same results, keeping the overall story ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Cleopatra and Her Relationship with Roman Caesars Stacy Schiff is a remarkable writer and a historian. She has a Pulitzer Prize to prove it, and she is also a guest writer for the New York Times and various newspapers. Her latest work is Cleopatra: A Life. Schiff tells how Cleopatra was a very remarkable woman. Even after Octavian, Cleopatra was known as the wicked women in the world. Schiff tells much about Cleopatra s life involving Mark Antony and Julius Caesar. Schiff ensures us that Cleopatra had one of the top educations from Alexandria. Caesar did not only stay in Egypt for Cleopatra s seductress ways, however Caesar wanted to get rein over his enemies. When Caesar was murdered, by a group of schemers, in the Roman Senate, his adopted great nephew Gaius Octavius was his only heir. Mark Antony thought he was heir to the Roman Empire but however, Caesar had different plans. Janet Suzman tells the story of how Shakespeare wrote the play about Cleopatra and Mark Antony. Suzman says Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is a horrific story of a formally mighty conqueror who is infatuated with the Queen of Egypt. Antony was so obsessed with Cleopatra and how she led him to his death. (Draycott, 38 44) Suzman said that Cleopatra and Antony had a horrible love story. Schiff tells the story of Cleopatra and Antony very similar to Suzman. However, Cleopatra and Antony s relationship had its problems. Schiff believed that Antony and Cleopatra had much in common. • 8. Changing Voting Restrictions Have you ever felt like the government is trying to take away your voice? Well if you allow them to take away your right to vote with new restrictions on who can or can not vote then that is what they are basically doing. It would be taking away the already small voice you have in your governmental system. If they were to change the requirements then it would cause mass confusion of election day, it would be erasing what some people fought for to earn the right to vote, and the voting rate is low enough. One of the main reasons why we should not change the voting restrictions it that it would cause mass confusion when it came to election day. Election day is already heptic enough when it comes time for the american people to vote for their next commander in chief. It would just add on to the craiz and confusion if people went to go vote and was not allowed to because of a new type of restriction out that they did not know of. For example, during the 2016 election between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump there were 14 different states that had new voting laws. • 9. Sexism In Epic Of Gilgamesh The world is still sexist. Barbara Broccoli. From the creation story to modern day, women and men still struggle with a power dynamic of inferiority and superiority. The problem of sexism has been ever present throughout history, and although it has been acknowledged by many, it has not been eradicated or resolved. Although the acknowledgment of sexism has grown over the course of the modern era, it is heavily rooted in society s developmental process, which makes it continuously difficult to annihilate. Furthermore, throughout many historical texts, women are often represented as objects instead of real people. Within texts, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Bible, the Quran, and the Torah, women are constantly regarded as inferiors instead of equals with men. Throughout these texts, there is a clear separation between the treatment of men and women, with women always being referred to as property. The Epic of Gilgamesh contains several instances where women are regarded as objects that solely provide men with pleasure, specifically with the story of Shamat and Enkidu. In the beginning of the epic, the story is introduced with the creation of Enkidu and his transformation into a human being; a vital part of Enkidu s transformation being a woman named Shamat. Shamat acts as the bait or lure that leads Enkidu out of his animalistic lifestyle, and causes him to become human. In order to do so, Shamat is told to do sexual acts that will arouse Enkidu. • 14. Analysis Of Wonders Of The Invisible World By Cotton Mather The short story, Wonders of the Invisible World by Cotton Mather, tells of how the devil is working around Boston. He tells this story from his own perspective in which he believes the devil is working in secret, and through the youth. One of the trials used as an example was Martha Carrier who was found guilty based on the information collected by Cotton Mather. Nathaniel Hawthorne, writer of the famous Scarlet Letter , writes a short story from the narrator s perspective, and how he visits his friend called Oberon. Oberon believes that the devil is residing within his writing and insists to the narrator that he must burn the manuscript to cast the devil out. The evidence that leads Oberon to believe that the devil is in his writing draws from publishers refusing to accept his work. In Wonders of the Invisible World , Mather suggests the devil resides in people who collect in hellish meetings where they discuss how to destroy the kingdom on out lord Jesus Christ. He uses Martha Carrier as an example of someone who is possessed by the devil and seeks to corrupt others and do harm to those who follow God. He provides evidence by bringing witnesses to Carrier s torment, including her children. How the devil is portrayed in The Devil in the Manuscript is more figurative rather than literal. Oberon believes the devil possessed his writing because no one wants to publish what he wrote. This is likely less literal than what Cotton Mather means, and is likely attributed from his ego and belief that his writing is too great to be his fault. The portrayal of the devil within the Wonders of the Invisible World is literal, and is inspired through fear and incredibly strict devotion to one religion. Cotton Mather believes the devil is literally possessing people and using those he possesses to corrupt others. He uses Martha Carrier as an example of how the devil will do this by bringing in her children to the trial. The children confessed on trial that not only that they were witches themselves, but that their mother had made them so. This helped strengthen Mather s argument that the devil is working through people to corrupt others. The children s confession also helped give support to Mather s theory ... With this easy accessibility there is becoming less and less need for buyers to attend shows and instead they are able to choose their key pieces right from their own offices. Tungate also recognizes that private pre collection gatherings in showrooms are taking place before the actual show. Lastly, this report will talk the different influences of the interaction from cultural, social, national and international policy on the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health interventions in New Zealand. Demographic Distribution of Populations Rapid influx of migrants with diverse ethnicity and cultural background, with different social and economic status, age group that varies from birth, active years, and geriatric are factors that contributes to changes in population demographics, that has specific demands which needs special focus and attention. More people in the societies prefer to settle now in city than in countryside areas. The rapid rate of urbanization in growing regions test the capability of governments to effectively design and run into the necessities of the rising numbers of city dwellers. • 26. Ainu Research Paper Introduction November 1st, 2016 My name is Sarah Ohly. I am a Cultural Anthropologist, I am in the Southern Kuril Islands Well journal first thing I want to get straight is I am studying the Ainu because I mainly wanted to learn about a culture that has different climates and environmental struggles than mine. I am staying with Petennouk and his wife Toitoi. They are both very generous and they have two kids, Munneke and Ipokash. The Ainu has a tropical climate everyday. In winter, there is much less rainfall than in summer. This climate is considered to be amazing according to the Köppen Geiger climate classification. The temperature here averages 27.0 °C. So their living conditions are very wet and hot all year round. That is a huge difference ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will start with how the kids learn first. Traditionally children were taught at home. Grandparents read poems and tales while parents taught practical skills. From the late nineteenth century on, Ainu were educated in Japanese schools. The Ainu still face discrimination. Ainu children that go to these Japanese schools are often bullied and called Inu (Japanese for dog ). About 3.8 percent of Ainu are on welfare, 1.3 points higher than the national average and only 17.4 percent of Ainus received a university education, compared to the national average of 38.5 percent. The age of marriage was 17 18years old for men and 15 16 years for women.. At these ages, both male and female are considered as adults. Some background history is the Meiji government s 1899 assimilation policies resulted in the ban of the Ainu language and Ainu children being given Japanese names. Some things the children get from their parents are the Ainu try to keep ancient traditions alive today. They teach the children their old ways. They believe in worship of fire dominated daily life and Ainu culture. Most Ainu children wear decorative robes or cloths tied together with pretty designs. Almost every Ainu child has short hair just due to how the parents grew up. I still have lots to learn about the children and their daily life but those are just some basic facts. Well I better stop writing and do what I came here to do. I think i ll write later ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Stages of Economic Reform in China China had gone through a major reformation that is called Socialism with Chinese characteristics that started in late 1978, sparked by a very influential politician and leader, Deng Xiaoping. The reformation is carried out in different stages. It is very important to understand these stages, as each stage is the prerequisite for China to move to another stage. Large scale of government planning is heavily involved throughout the reformation. Despite having to go through financial crisis couple of times, globally and throughout Asia, China seemed to respond quickly and effectively to handle these difficult situations. As of today, China remains as an admiration and aspiration for not only countries in Asia, but also around the world. According to Tian (1996), there are three stages of economic reform in China. The first stage is characterized by economic liberalization. This stage was said to be the most remarkable stage as it has greatly changed the Chinese people s values, thinking and behavior. The changes were first introduced to people in rural areas and later to other industries and geographic areas. The first stage involved a lot of efforts to the development of foreign trade. China began to adopt decentralized decision making and various types of incentive mechanisms. China has been using its abundant supply of labor effectively since then. The second stage of the economic reform is described by marketization. This stage can only be carried out effectively only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. My Nepal Festival Splash. One second I could feel my body touching the surface of the water and the next second I was completely immersed in it. I went so deep I could feel the water pressure. Was I going to die? I moved my hands and feet vigorously as if a shark was chasing me. I wanted to get out, breathe a gulp of air and feel the air. I wanted to cry. With my eyes still closed and my heart beating rapidly all I did was shout, help me, help me but no one came. I was sure there were around 5 people out there who were supposed to save us. And even though I was there, shouting for help with all my might, no one approached me. I slowly opened my eyes and tada, there I was floating in the river (uI forgot I had air jacket on for safety) shouting for help and stamping my hand in the water. They must have thought I was crazy. Well, it was a beautiful, sunny morning. We were all having breakfast. As usual I was having toast with yak butter and sugar and I was talking with my Indian friend who came to visit us on her holiday. We were comparing the food, culture and language of Nepal and India. Even though most of the expressions, food, festivals, of both the countries are similar we have difference in the way we celebrate them. Our main festival is Dashain which is celebrated by receiving blessings and tika (made by red colour and rice) from elders, eating good food and wearing nice dresses. We like things to be quite and smooth. Whereas in case of Indian culture things get intense. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The purpose of this research paper is to show the history of Detroit s auto and manufacturing industry, in what ways it has changed in recent years, and how it has helped define the economy of Detroit and damaged it. This paper suggests that the deindustrialization of plants and industries and the depopulation of whites to the Suburbs have triggered the economic downfall of the Motor City. Some social issues such as race discrimination and segregation that might have led to the riots of 1943, and 1967, and the migration of African Americans to Northern States in search of employments will be discussed as well. General Motors, the country s leader in defense contracts, is firmly fixed in the public mind with the manufacture of automobiles... 35 percent of its total business is non automotive. This diversification... gives General Motors an enormous advantage... But little of this helps Michigan now, since G.M. no longer concentrates its military work in this area (Widick, 1959, Pg. 1). Widick (1959) suggests that a large percentage of the manufacturing was military based, however after World War II, General Motors expanded its military production to other cities and countries losing the main focus on Detroit. The manufacturing of war weapons, vehicles, and airplanes generated the economic spur in Detroit and the United States during World War II because the United States produced weapons and military technology to allied countries without fully involving manpower in the war. The massive production of military products ended after the war and the production of weapons had decreased. Restructuring Capital Mobility. In 2005, Thomas Sugrue identified the roots of Detroit s crisis through his article, The Origins of the Urban Crisis. Sugrue (2005) argues that restructuring came in the form of capital mobility. • 38. Cultural Diversity And Tolerance Through Our Television... Josh Obrien Canadian Studies 339 UCID #00278635 In Canada there is a strong reflection of our cultural diversity and tolerance through our television shows, as they have the ability to use the humour of realistic narratives and social dynamics to highlight social equality and intercultural balance. A recent show that did this was Canadian television show Little Mosque on the Prairie, created by Zarqa Nawaz through WestWind Pictures. It was filmed in Toronto Ontario and a small community named Indian Head Saskatewan. The show aired in 2007, but was then rebroadcast to other countries including parts of Africa, Israel and Gaza strip (Macdonald 2012). Zarqa Nawaz based much of the show on her personal experiences, and many of the characters are partially inspired by her family and friends. Nawaz claims that the nature of the show is not necessarily a satire, rather she states: Little Mosque on the Prairie is a sit com and not a political satire. I want people to find the hilarity in the show and recognize the similar issues that appear in all our lives. It s important to normalize the community within the greater community so as not to be seen as the other but to recognize that we all have universal themes which exist in all communities. I simply want people to laugh with Muslims like they would laugh at anyone else and feel comfortable doing so (Oumlil 2012: 2000). Each episode of the series lasts approximately 22 minutes and follows a conventional Story line. The show ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Grendel s mother in Beowulf is described as a fatherless creature (1355.) suggesting she is not man made. This suggestion implies she breaks the social norm of this society. She and her son are often correlated with darkness. Any term that correlates with darkness is feared by humans because it is a place that we cannot fully see. It is a place where the unknown lurks. Yet, she looks like a woman (1351.) but because she was not conceived how a normal human being would be, she is outcasted and looked upon as monster. While this battle of good vs. evil is still taking place, Satan is a hero to his angels and will remain one for as long as he lives. In Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein should be depicted as the real monster for attempting to recreate God s creation. Instead, it is his creation who has to pay the price for Victor s wrong doings. While his creation pays the price, he still finds a way to become his own hero as well. It may go unsaid but the monster has the will to keep on going. Through his life he still finds a way to live. The monster tries to act right but it seems as if whatever he does his actions are misunderstood. Yet, like a child he is pure and unaware of his doings.
