Descriptive Essay On A Hot Day
BRRRRINGGGGGG!!! The alarm stopped right away because my hand smacked it quiet. I
took a glance over at the other bed and saw my aunt must have gone to the top deck to get coffee.
Lazily, I got out of the twin size bed, and walked a foot over to where our bathroom was. It took
more time to squeeze into the bathroom, but you get used to it. When I came out, I walked out
of the room and knock knock, my parents door opened. When are we going to eat breakfast? I
questioned to my mom. In about 30 minutes, just get ready and we will meet you up there, she
stated as she closed the door in my face. I was still in my pajamas and was putting in my contacts
when my aunt walked in with a cup of coffee in her hand. It s a hot day out today, I almost burned
while I was standing out there for 15 minutes, my aunt told me. I groaned Ugh, we will be walking
around in the hot sun for most of the day.
While I was picking out my outfit of jean high waisted shorts and a red tank top with a floral
print on it, I was stumped on what shoes to wear because we will be walking all day. I didn t
want to wear tennis shoes because those weren t cute with my outfit and I knew was taking
pictures today. Once my put on my plain black flip flops, my aunt immediately looked at me.
Are you actually wearing those, won t your feet hurt all day? she asked puzzled. No I m used to
wearing flip flops I will be fine. I laughed. Okay whatever you say, but we better not hear you

Life After St. Jerome s Indian Horse Novel Study
Life after St. Jerome s: Indian Horse Novel Study For years, First Nations children endured the
harrowing experiences of residential schools. It was not until 1996, did the final residential school
close down. It took over a hundred years of physical, physiological, and the sexual abuse of
thousands of children before residential schools existed no more. Although they do not exist
anymore, residential schools continue to cause pain throughout First Nationscommunities. There are
a variety of novels that describe the accounts of residential school survivors, both fiction and non
fiction, each powerful in their own way. Indian Horse, a novel by Richard Wagamese, is one of
these novels. The book follows Saul Indian Horse, a boy of Ojibwe descent, and his experiences
within St. Jerome s Indian Residential School. Saul turns to hockey as a form of protection
from the fowl memories of his experiences at St. Jerome s, using the game to ignore the sexual
abuse he endured. This denial results in Saul s pain, which comes out in the form anger on the
ice, and which ultimately results in him taking up alcohol. It is only when Saul returns to St.
Jerome s, that he is able to stop the denial, and begin his path to healing. Richard manages to lead
the reader down the same path of denial as Saul, therefore allowing the reader to experience the
same feeling of shock as felt by Saul in his moments of realization. Saul s denial of his sexual abuse

The Aquariums Of Pyongyang Summary
The Aquariums of Pyongyang by Kang Chol Hwan is a memoir about a young boy s life in a
North Korean gulag during the dictatorship of Kim Il sung. His story is profoundly touching,
recounting his glorious childhood, sudden imprisonment in a labor camp, and successful escape to
South Korea. The memoir gives insight to the life of North Koreans from the 1960s to the present,
as the dictatorship tightens and the economy fails. The account is the first of its kind and is filled
with the unimaginable horrors that have faced generations of North Koreans. Along with his
personal story, the author offers his personal criticisms of the government and presents the
difficulties in solving the problems that plague the country. His open ended questions allow the
reader to think about the North Korean plight instead of only hearing his story and dismissing it as
an isolated occurrence. When the memoir was first published in 2000, Kang believed that not many
outsiders knew about the abuses of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though the author s standpoint would seemingly be clear, considering he was on the brink of
starvation for ten years in an internment camp, he brings up the shortfalls of offering aid. He
believes the issue of distributing food is the only issue up to debate. Most of the food would be
given to the ever growing army and the citizens would be left to subsist on meager rations.
Additionally, the aid would allow the government to use its funds for military and self serving
interests. He acknowledges that, with a situation such as that in North Korea, aiding the population
also means maintaining the regime. This problem is just one example of the difficulty of
implementing human rights in deprived areas. The question is never whether or not the citizens
deserve human rights; rather, it is a question of how to support the people without supporting the
oppressive regime as

Gender, Gender Norms and Sexuality in Gimme Shelter
In 1969, the Rolling Stones played a free concert in San Francisco; the

Altamonte Festival,
with the goal of having a thank you concert for fans, a day of

unity, celebration, a prime
example of classic 1960 s freedom. However, the Altamont concert
turned into what was arguably one of the biggest disasters in musical history, going from an
event that was supposed to capture the essence of the era; a time of peace and love, instead
turning into an utter catastrophe, involving drinking, drugs, thefts, people being arrested, fist

fights, and four deaths, including the fatal stabbing of an 18 year old man of colour,

Specifically, the bending and breaking of gender norms by Mick

Jagger s preforming of
various forms of gender and gender fluidity, and through the way that

he dresses, dances
and acts.
While the 1970s were a time of true hippie fashion; peace, love, sexual liberation and

freedom, the 70s also signified the decline of classic, more

The Pros And Cons Of School Students In School
In the years after Honig, Congress added emergency exceptions to IDEA permitting school
personnel to immediately remove a student with a disability for up to forty five days to an interim
alternative educational setting (IAES). This immediate removal is permitted if the student
committed one of the following violations on school grounds or at a school function: в– carries a
weapon; в– knowingly possesses, uses, sells, or solicits illegal drugs; or в– inflicts serious bodily
injury upon another. Therefore, when safety is jeopardized, the ten day rule does not need to be
followed; the student with a disability can be removed immediately. Within ten days of that
removal, however, the child s IEP team must meet to conduct the MDR and make a decision
regarding the IAES. Additionally, school personnel are permitted to consider any unique
circumstances on a case by case basis when determining whether to order a change of placement for
a student who has violated a code of student conduct. If the parents disagree with a decision to
remove their child from school, they may appeal that decision to a hearing officer. Similarly, school
officials may appeal when they are concerned that a student s continued presence within the school
setting is substantially likely to result in injury to the student or others. The hearing officer has the
authority to either return the student to the placement from which he/she was removed or order
placement in an IAES. During this period, the student

The Importance Of Landscape Throughout Hard Times By...
Alicia Gonzalez
Professor Richard C. Smith
English 150
8 October 2016 The importance of landscape throughout Hard Times by Charles Dickens is seen in
various locations that help to thread the novel together. When new scenes are presented to the
reader, we are often given explicit details of the characters surrounding and current environment to
draw us into that particular moment. The city is mainly described in a more negative light, with
words such as ugly and monotonous. In contrast, the countryside (away from the hustle of the
working town) is portrayed in such a way that it feels like a pure or sacred space, free of the
blemishes of the working town. Dickens creates an underlying importance with how he describes
the city versus how he describes the countryside, being that the latter becomes the place of death
for one of the main characters Stephen Blackpool. The city of Coketown is a town introduced as
an uncompromising, brutal, and fearful place defined by its work and industrialization. The
description that we are given of Coketown makes it clear that it is not a place of enjoyment,
pleasure, or nature. It is heavily characterized by its repetitive and endless labor. Coketown is
therefore essential as a setting displaying the negative aspects of industrialization. However, there is
additional significance in the negative portrayal of Coketown. The idea of monotony in the
industrial city is one that is returned to several times throughout the novel. Dickens writes

How Goggles Works
The world today has been established to be known for the development in various types of

surgeons when it glow blue . The tumors attached with the markers light up when being observed
with these remarkable goggles under the infrared light .[2] Ryan fields have mention that tissues

The purpose of using these goggles during surgery is mainly because it decreases the number of
additional procedures .Lesser chances of second surgery is required as the goggles helps during

confirming that none of the separated tumor cells are left behind.[1] A study done by Julie
Margenthaler shows that 20 to 40 percent of female patients will still come back for second time

modern technology does not identify the disease stages and the total area of the tumor in the the

The purpose of the Reagan Doctrine was to sponsor anticommunist guerrillas who are trying to
overthrow pro Soviet regimes (Roskin, 2010). It was implemented in the mid 1980 s by President
Reagan within his 1985 State of the Union Address and lasted less than a decade around the end of
the Cold Warin 1991. In this assignment, I will discuss the doctrine that President Reagan followed

Similar to other countries President Reagan was helping fight the Soviets by providing the
guerrillas with an extensive amount of military assistance in their fight against the invading
Soviets. In part due to the financial, weapons and military training support from America the
Afghan rebels were able to eventually defeat the Soviet Union s military. Some critics are criticizing
President Reagans doctrine and claim that in no way did it help the situation in Afghanistan, many
of them claim that it was an epic failure. Others believe the doctrine was instrumental in helping
bring an end to communism. One specific advantage that has been credited to the doctrine was the
lack of direct involvement of American troops, which allowed the United States to confront Soviet
allies without sustaining casualties (Reagan Doctrine, 2014). In addition it has been argued that it
was President Reagan s pursuit of the Strategic Defense Initiative that bankrupted the Kremlin
leadership, prompting a liberalization of the Soviet political economy that brought down the entire

Freedom Extended Definition
Freedom Lives Within
Three people are walking down a New York City street. One is a Black man, one is an Asian
woman, and the other person is a White man. One can easily picture the three people walking
beside one another because the image is not bizarre or strange, rather; the image is completely
normal. The vision is normal because these three American citizens have the freedom to walk
where they choose, with whom they choose. The word freedom is often overlooked and taken for
granted by those who have it. A popular idea of freedom is: Freedom lets someone do whatever he
chooses to do. Although this thought of freedom is technically correct, the phrase barely scratches
the surface of the idea of freedom.

Glee Is a Hoax
You re walking through SIUE halls in peck hall, and then someone just jumps out singing and
dancing on this joyous occasion. Does something like that really happen? No! There is a lot of
hard work that goes into something like that, and glee portrays it all wrong. All the hard work that
goes into it like: cleaning the choreography, learning the voice parts, and the many hours of
practice. In a recent article by spark notes, in reality 90% of choirkids are theater geeks and really
want to help train their voices, while in glee it seems like they just sing then go to the Gym. Show
choiris so much more than just busting out in song; it s about making friendship doing something
you really love to do and to make a lasting impression on someone s life. If we continue to let glee
gives us the idea of what show choir is, then the real show choir world will fall into a myth.
Show choir is a lifestyle to most it as we call it a way of living. Some people find it very
offensive when they ask do you want to join show choir , and then they get a response like. NO I
hate glee. My first question is what does glee have to do with it? Do people even know what
show choir really is? Glee has made millions of dollars trying to portray their way of thinking
about show choir. Do you ever see the parents that put in the hard work of costumes, stitching
dresses that have fallen apart, making sure everyone costumes are fit, and they work hard at bingo
most of the time to pay for it. On

Effects of Outsourcing Jobs to Overseas
Because of outsourcing jobs to overseas many American workers lost their jobs or compelled to
work for much less compensation. This trend leads to the shrinkage of middle class income bracket
and the reduction of the family s standard of living. Besides, due to the elusive future employment
status and the financial problems, many people have to live hand to mouth, and many more have to
cut their expenditures in order to survive this dreadful and unpleasant situation. More importantly,
the reduction in spending money and the deterioration of consumer confidence can hurt the
economy severely and exacerbate the situation.
Reich in his article Why Rich are Getting Richer and the Poor, Poorer divides the U.S. professions
into three major categories: routine producers, in person servers and symbolic analysts and
described the process and likelihood of outsourcing these professions.
Routine producers such as manufacturers are the ones in the real risk of losing their jobs as a
result of outsourcing since the technological advancements have put them in positions that they
have to compete with millions of routine workers in other nations who are willing to work for a
much lower wage than their counterparts in America. Therefore, the majority of U.S. routine jobs
have moved to the emerging economies. As an example, around late 1970s the famous
telecommunication company AT T had a telephone set assembly line in Shreveport, LA. But, later
they found out that routine producers in

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome ( Fas )
Children are born every second of every day on all different parts of the globe. However, before
they are introduced into the world they must develop in a special incubator known as the mother s
womb. Throughout the nine months of growth, it is crucial for the mother to consume certain
nutrients and avoid harmful substances. In many countries, one of the cognitive disorders is Fetal
Alcohol Syndrome(FAS). According to Feldman (2009), Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is a disorder that
is induced by pregnant women who have consumed alcohol during the duration of their pregnancy,
possibly resulting in mental deformity and delayed the growth of the child. Some characteristics of

Impairment of the central nervous system results in an array of behavioral problems including
hyperactivity, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) and impaired language, as well as difficulties
learning and understanding social skills (Thomas, 2008). In addition, prenatal exposure to alcohol
disrupts the development of major regions in the central nervous system such as the hippocampus,
which contributes to memory (Thomas, 2008). The exposure to alcohol during development in the
womb, consequently damaging the central nervous system and the hippocampus, makes the child s
learning experience more difficult due to the fact that their learning and their ability to memorize
has been impaired. A research study that was done by Sarah N. Mattson, Katherine E. Calarco and
Aimee R. Lang has proven that children that have been exposed to alcohol have a slower reaction
time and a lower accuracy to respond correctly to a set of stimuli that was presented. The children
were evaluated using a paradigm consisting of three conditions: visual focus, auditory focus, and
auditory visual shift of attention (Mattson, 2006). The result concluded that children with FAS have
a deficiency in visually focused attention and a deformity in maintaining auditory

Exceptional Needs Tax Credit Case Study
After evaluating the Exceptional Needs Tax Credit I can tell that it a new scholar ship created for
private schools with the intention of allowing exceptional needs children, that you defined as
children who need special education because they have a mental or physical disorder that would
prevent the ability for the student to learn and also students that have suffered from poverty, to
attend these schools. On the surface this seems like a great idea how ever I disagree with some
parts of the program such as how they decide how much money is enough for a child with For
example, the program s scholarship funding fails to take into account the actual cost of serving a
child with exceptional educational needs. It determines that at most one of these students would
only need $10,000, however never explains the cost that a student would actually need to... Show

What it will do is remove money that could have been used to help develop public school that have
lagged behind in developing these exceptional needs children and gave that money to private
schools that may have had the ability to help these kids, which is not actually known. I would
much rather see this as a package that would go to the schools to help them perform better, I also
understand that some kids could suffer from mental and physical problems but I don t not see how
moving them to a private school could help as far as I m aware ever since FAPE (Free Appropriate
Public Education) any students that are seen as having these disabilities are helped by their public
schools to advance their learnings through a more individual means. I also believe that if a student
is unable to afford common needs that simply moving him to a private school will not
automatically fix the problem. I feel that it would be better spent helping the student afford there

Belize has a small number of private hospital facilities that provide similar services such as
surgeries, maternity health, and some diagnostic procedures. Many physicians practice in the
government healthcare system but a lot of them are devoted to the private hospital.
Healthcare in Belize is also provided by a lot of Non Governmental Organizations, also called
NGO s. These organizations provide a lot of service for citizens when it comes to parental
planning and contraceptive services in the country. A lot of OB and GYN aren t covered in the
national plan but are available through organizations such as Belize Family Life Association
(BFLA), the largest of the NGO s. They also deal in STD and HIV testing and other
gynecological services. BFLA provides family planning, sexual and reproductive health care
services, and serves women and men in one of their five clinics or through the use of mobile

Why Is The Ford Pinto Unethical
The Ford Pinto Xing Liu Jul 9 2015 When putting top priority on the pursuit of interest, people are
inclined to make unethical decisions and take unethical actions, because they treat other people
merely as a means to their goals by dehumanizing other people. They choose to ignore the fact that
all human beings have names, families, soul (they are not property) and independent thinking as
we do, deprive innocent people of freedom and well being that these people deserve as human
beings, and attach price tags to them for cost benefit analysis. In Pinto case, Ford was accused of

After the infamous cost/benefit analysis, they decided to sacrifice other s well being to
maximize profits. But there were several miscalculations. Ford not only underestimated the
death toll and injuries, but also overestimated the costs of adding safety improvements by
including all Ford vehicles. In fact, the number of deaths the Pinto was responsible for is closer
to 500, according to its critics, rather than 23, at which Ford put. The court cases nationwide
have also increased the costs to Ford. If Ford added the safety shield in the production page, the
only loss would be a portion of the expected profits. It is possible for Ford to dominate the
compact car market and customers get what they want. However, with the cost/benefit analysis,
Ford set them into the worst scenario that no one benefits from the action of not modifying the
duel tank: Ford suffered from both financial and reputational loss, with the increased costs on
installing the safety shields and lawsuits against the company, potential loss of future sales, and
the decreased shareholder s value; customers who involved in the accidents suffered both
physically and emotionally with the loss of life and property; other customers decreased trust in

How the French Presidential Elections will Affect the Entire World
After rejecting the two major political parties in the first round, the French voters will choose their
new president. What will the election result mean for the world?
After the Brexit results in the UK and Trump s election in the US, France is next to face the
challenge of elections on May the 7th for their second round. Debating the subject is William
Callanan, 45, an American citizen living in Britain for the last 15 years and partner at Keysquare
Capital Management. He agreed in an interview to share his opinion on how the French elections
will have a major impact across the world. But first, let s meet the candidates.

Callanan thinks Macron will align with Fillon on the centre right, making Le pen garner less votes,
suggesting the first round s outcome is an indication of what the ending bias will likely be.
Will a new president be the end of old politics in France? Just over a month after the new
president will be elected, she/he will start building their coalition in the Assembly Nationale. It
will be a real challenge for both, says Callanan as a new party has never gained a majority. He
paused. But Macron has a better chance than Le Pen.
One important issue that the new president will need to address is on the national security, as
terrorist attacks are at their peek right now in France. While Le Pen is focused on immigration,
Macron is focused on adding 50,000 police and specialised training. When asked who will appeal
more to the public, Callanan said people become more accustomed to these events and the shock
effect is mitigated. Think of what it is like living in Beirut...
Will Le Pen s claim of deporting all foreigners suspected of a connection to radical Islamism make
France safer? Definitely not, replied Mr. Callanan, on the contrary, the anti immigration and anti
Islam stance can be taken too far and be counter productive.
Le Pen has said that France should be less naive as it became a jihadi university. Will her

Domestic Violence (Information Strangulation) Bill 2013...
Domestic violence is defined as acts of violence or threats of violence that usually occur in the
family home. It is commonly assumed that the main perpetrator of domestic violence are men
against women and hence the slogan Stop Violence against women .
The reluctance to report domestic violence may have been due to religious, ethic or homosexual
backgrounds.
Fear of revenge or further violence from the perpetrator towards them or family.
Feelings of shame or embarrassment.
A belief that the incident was too trivial or unimportant.
There are many reasons and theories why domestic violence exists for e.g. the dominant control or
power over another human being, stress, family dysfunction, substance abuse, poor self esteem,

The Four Witches In Dorothy s Wizard Of Oz
In the first chapter of the wonderful wizard of Oz, we are introduced to Dorothy, her uncle
Henry and his wife Em. Dorothy and her family lived in a very petite, four walled house in the
core of the Kansas prairie. Inside the house, they had a very small hole in the ground that serve
as a cyclone cellar . Whenever Dorothy set foot outside the house, all she would notice is how
gray and dull everything would look; including her aunt Em. She who once was a young and
pretty wife , was now thin and gaunt and never smiled and her uncle Henry was exact same way.
The only source of content that Dorothy had came from her dog, Toto. He was not like her s

But the Tin Woodman chopped and cleared the path. The scarecrow asked him why would he
want a heart if he could have a brain. The Tin Woodman began to tell them a story as to why:
Back when he was a human with a brain and heart he was afraid of being lonely and met this
lovely Munchkin girl who he fell in love with. She promised to marry him if he would work hard
enough to built a better house for her, but the old lady she lived with was lazy and did not want
her to marry and then leave her. So the old woman decided to go to the Wicked Witch of the
East, and stop them from being together. The Witch man casted a spell on the Tin Woodman s
ax and chopped off his limbs one by one, but every time he would replace them with limbs of tin.
Nevertheless, the ax ended up splitting him in half, he then, was no longer made of flesh nor
had a heart. He then realized, he no longer loved or cared the Munchkin girl. And then, one day
while axing some trees, he forgot to bring his oil can and got caught up in a rainstorm, which
made his joints rust. While standing there for over a year, he reminisce on how happy he once
was when he still had a heart. Dorothy and the Scarecrow both seemed very interested in his story,
but the Scarecrow still believed that a brain was far more important than a heart. Both the him and
the Tin Woodman debated on which was more important. Dorothy didn t join in, because she was

Disease Is The Biggest Money Maker Of Our Economy
Disease is the biggest money maker in our economy, by John H. Tobe. This quote emphasis on the
impact diseases have on the economy. In well developed countries, people have different sources

because of poverty. Diseases, is among the biggest issues in Africa. Since people can not get proper
treatment to the disease, many people die while other people get affected. Accordind to ..... Liberia

to treat four million people. One of the epidemic disease in Liberia and other western African
countries is Ebola. Few available doctors are working in the Ebola sector leading to deaths of
patients as there are no enough doctors treating patient. According to the economist, the United
States will provide relief efforts and train up to five hundred people, (economist, 2014). This
people, will be helping to burry the dead bodies and isolate people. This disease has not affected
Africa only, rather it has also started to spread in other countries. This paper will reflect on the
worldwide impact of Ebola on the economics. To begin with the background of Ebola disease,
Kathleen Caulderwood states that, The deadliest Ebola outbreak in history has already killed

The Minoan civilization was founded in 3000 BCE and ended in 1100 BCE, whereas the
Mycenaean civilization was founded in 1900 BCE and ended in 1100 BCE (Matthews, Noble,

has revealed to be similar in early farmers (Reich, 2017).
The Minoans were the first literate civilization in Europe. One key aspect of the Minoan and
Mycenaean culture that lived on among the Greeks later was writing. Linear A, a syllabic system
that cannot be read by anyone except the Minoans, however, the Mycenaeans produced thousands
of Linear B tablets, that contained documents for the government, as well as the Iliad and
Odyssey (Matthews et al, 2014). Both Linear A and B are from a syllabic system, which are like
the Greek letters. Another key aspect of the Minoan and Mycenaean culture that lived on among
the Greeks later were metals, such as bronze, copper, tin, silver, and gold (Matthews et al, 2014).

How Social Class Influences Empathic Accuracy
Article Critique
Shirly Dorilas
Carlos Albizu University Introduction
Social Class, Contextualism, and Empathic Accuracy by
Michael W. Kraus, Stephanie Cote, and Dacher Keltner
The main aim of the paper was to examine how social class influences empathic accuracy. This
aim is important as it will help to uncover the psychological processes that inspire the various life
circumstances of lower and upper class individuals. In addition, social class such as socioeconomic
status or SES pervades social life, in which it can determine the participation within social
institutions, influence preference for cultural and artistic symbols, and increase susceptibility to
mood and health related issues. It would be important to understand how ... Show more content on

Studies have found that social class is measured by the indicators of material wealth, occupational
prestige or educational achievement. Due to this signaling process, an individual may develop
subjective perceptions of his or her rank in the social hierarchy. Additionally, research suggests
lower class individuals life outcome is often times more dependent on external forces in the social
context than upper class individuals. Furthermore, research noted empathic accuracy tends to
increase with more interdependence and may be an important predictor of relationship results and
social adjustment. The author asserts that research studies supporting these theoretic arguments are
suggestive but limited as they have not addressed how class based perceptual tendencies may have
pronounced effects on emotional processes. The current study was conducted in three different
experiments. First, participants were tested on whether or not lower social class is related to an
elevated empathic accuracy. In the second experiment, researchers tested whether or not social class
predicts accuracy in judging emotions during interaction. In addition, researchers examined whether
or not a more pronounced focus on the context explains the relationship between social class and
empathic accuracy. Subsequently, researchers used SES of participants to measure social class. In
the third experiment, researchers manipulated

When I say performance, I am talking about Callaway producing a club that permitted the average
golfer to play at a higher level than they might otherwise play without a Callaway driver.
In order to achieve this higher level of performance in one s golf game, Callaway had created a
club for their target market that met yet a third need, that being the demand for forgiveness in a
club. To meet this need Callaway created a driver that allowed a less than technically proficient
golfer to drive the ball straight and accurate down the fairway, even though the golfer may have hit
the ball left or the right of center on the driver.
In other words, what the golfer lacks in technical skill can be compensated for to a noticeable
degree by the advanced design of a golf club. This is what is known as forgiveness. The fourth
and final need is that of quality. Given that Callaway customers paid a premium for Callaway
clubs, they expect that Callaway would create nothing short of a high quality club. A high quality
club being one made of the best materials, while delivering on all of the claims made such as
improved performance. It was Callaway s ability to successfully meet these four customer needs
that had put them at the top of their game for many, many years.

Heart Surgery Research Paper
Humans have made plenty of progress over the course of history. None of this development would
be possible without their ability to adapt to their environment and utilize it in ways never thought to
be possible. Humans are largely dependent on animals for survival. They depend on them for
nutrients, transportation, and labor, among other things. These are all important contributions made
by animals, however, they have also made a huge impact in the development of modern medicine.
Without animals, many surgical procedures, such as heart surgery and in vitro fertilization would
not exist. Many treatments for different medical conditions such as diabetes, congestive heart
failure, hypertension, and heart disease as well. Animals, such as maggots, have also shown to be
very effective towards wound debridement.
Today, heart surgery is a fairly common surgical procedure in the United States, though it has
dropped in the last several years. Heart surgery is a very important procedure because of the
importance of the heart. The heart is responsible for pumping blood to the entire body and

Marco Rubio is a Florida senator who is running for president in the 2016 election. He believes
that women do not deserve equal pay, that the US must not help people to get out of debt, and that
gay rights should be revoked. Now gay rights , as they are referred to, are actually rights for the
LGBT community. LGBTstands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, so gay rights actually
cover a lot more individuals. These rights are just basic human rights for people who identify with
the LGBT community, just an example of the rights, the right to marry, the right to shop where they
want, the right to be treated respectfully at a job, and etc. And even though these are just basic
human rights people still fight against them, leaving the LGBT community to fight back. The...

The Slavery Of The South
The South, on the other hand, was highly dependent upon the institution of slavery. It was still
primarily an agricultural society that needed as many laborers as possible in order for the
plantation owners to make ends meet. According to historian Douglas Harper, In 1793 came the
cotton gin, which brought a 50 fold increase in the average daily output of short staple cotton,
promoted the rapid expansion of a cotton kingdom across the Deep South, and made large scale
slaveryprofitable. Because of this, the slave became an essential tool to the farmers of the south;
more money became invested in slavery rather than in industrial improvements. Based upon the
1860 U.S. Census, there were almost a whopping total of four million slaves in the South alone.
In fact, the more slaves an owner had, the more prestige. Most slave owners owned fewer than
five slaves, and only 12 percent of Southerners had twenty or more slaves. Many whites who had
no slaves looked with envy upon the wealthy, and to a degree admired them. This hierarchy had a
clearly defined social structure which created distinctions between rich and poor whites as well as
racial segregation. This agricultural society and its strict hierarchy only increased the social and
racial disparities found in the southern region of the United States.
These differences in cultures inevitably led to the difference in Bible interpretations. These
different interpretations occurred primarily in response to the moral debate

Great structures tell us what society values throughout history. Monuments aren t created just for
having bragging rights over another country. The importance of creating these pieces of art is to
retain the historical events that led to the creation of monuments all around the world. Reaching
630 feet high and taller than any other structure, stands one of the most recognized monument in the
United States, the St. Louis Arch. Built by an architect named Eero Saarinen, the St. Louis Arch is

The Work Of The Calvin Klein Company
The Calvin Klein company has been trapped into a crisis in 2015 after the Annual Academy
Award ceremony because of a stolen dress full of fake pearls it designed. The public felt
betrayed by the organization because they have been noticed that the pearls were precious and
priceless from the previous news. This crisis largely influences the organization s reputation in a
negative way in the next few days. In this case, the TMZ company plays an essential role in this
crisis as a primary stakeholder, because it is the celebrity news website company which firstly
received the information and reported it to the public.
I.Case Study Situation

Chicago Bears Case Analysis
The 2016 season was a disappointment for the Chicago Bears. They finished with a record of 3
13, Quarterback Jay Cutler and wide receiver Kevin White were both dealing with injuries, wide
receiver Alshon Jeffery was suspended for four games due to PEDs, and the defense struggled.
Despite all the bad moments the Bears had last season, there were still some bright spots such as
rookie running back Jordan Howard rushing for 1,313 yards and wide receiver Cam Meredith
becoming a playmaker in the Chicago s offense. Out of the two scenarios, Meredith becoming a
viable option was not expected before the season began. The expectation was that Jeffery, White,
and a combination of Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson would be the top three wide... Show more

Out of three, Cutler has the strongest arm but he only played in five games. Meredith s best
games happened with either Barkley or Hoyer under center. Last season, he had four games of
100 plus receiving yards, including his first ever start, which happened in Week 5 against the
Indianapolis Colts on the road. The 6 foot 3 Meredith dominated in the Bears 29 23 loss, playing
opposite Jeffery. He had nine receptions (12 targets) for 130 yards and a touchdown. His
touchdown came in the second quarter after Howard ran for 57 yards. On second and goal,
Hoyer found Meredith who faked Colts cornerback Patrick Robinson into thinking he was
running a curl route and put on a double move for a touchdown in the back of the end zone. https:
//youtu.be/o1bTdpYFnas However, that was not his best game last season as that would come
against the Washington Redskins. Even though the Bears lost 41 21, Meredith put on a show with
nine receptions (12 targets) for 135 yards. The potential Meredith showed last season should make
the Bears feel comfortable about potentially making him the No.1 wide receiver. But that may not
be easy because White is still there and they are probably hoping the former seventh overall pick
can stay healthy and put together a productive season. Not to mention, over the offseason, Chicago
added wide receivers Victor Cruz, Markus Wheaton, and Kendall Wright. None of

  • 2. Descriptive Essay On A Hot Day BRRRRINGGGGGG!!! The alarm stopped right away because my hand smacked it quiet. I took a glance over at the other bed and saw my aunt must have gone to the top deck to get coffee. Lazily, I got out of the twin size bed, and walked a foot over to where our bathroom was. It took more time to squeeze into the bathroom, but you get used to it. When I came out, I walked out of the room and knock knock, my parents door opened. When are we going to eat breakfast? I questioned to my mom. In about 30 minutes, just get ready and we will meet you up there, she stated as she closed the door in my face. I was still in my pajamas and was putting in my contacts when my aunt walked in with a cup of coffee in her hand. It s a hot day out today, I almost burned while I was standing out there for 15 minutes, my aunt told me. I groaned Ugh, we will be walking around in the hot sun for most of the day. While I was picking out my outfit of jean high waisted shorts and a red tank top with a floral print on it, I was stumped on what shoes to wear because we will be walking all day. I didn t want to wear tennis shoes because those weren t cute with my outfit and I knew was taking pictures today. Once my put on my plain black flip flops, my aunt immediately looked at me. Are you actually wearing those, won t your feet hurt all day? she asked puzzled. No I m used to wearing flip flops I will be fine. I laughed. Okay whatever you say, but we better not hear you complain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Life After St. Jerome s Indian Horse Novel Study Life after St. Jerome s: Indian Horse Novel Study For years, First Nations children endured the harrowing experiences of residential schools. It was not until 1996, did the final residential school close down. It took over a hundred years of physical, physiological, and the sexual abuse of thousands of children before residential schools existed no more. Although they do not exist anymore, residential schools continue to cause pain throughout First Nationscommunities. There are a variety of novels that describe the accounts of residential school survivors, both fiction and non fiction, each powerful in their own way. Indian Horse, a novel by Richard Wagamese, is one of these novels. The book follows Saul Indian Horse, a boy of Ojibwe descent, and his experiences within St. Jerome s Indian Residential School. Saul turns to hockey as a form of protection from the fowl memories of his experiences at St. Jerome s, using the game to ignore the sexual abuse he endured. This denial results in Saul s pain, which comes out in the form anger on the ice, and which ultimately results in him taking up alcohol. It is only when Saul returns to St. Jerome s, that he is able to stop the denial, and begin his path to healing. Richard manages to lead the reader down the same path of denial as Saul, therefore allowing the reader to experience the same feeling of shock as felt by Saul in his moments of realization. Saul s denial of his sexual abuse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Aquariums Of Pyongyang Summary The Aquariums of Pyongyang by Kang Chol Hwan is a memoir about a young boy s life in a North Korean gulag during the dictatorship of Kim Il sung. His story is profoundly touching, recounting his glorious childhood, sudden imprisonment in a labor camp, and successful escape to South Korea. The memoir gives insight to the life of North Koreans from the 1960s to the present, as the dictatorship tightens and the economy fails. The account is the first of its kind and is filled with the unimaginable horrors that have faced generations of North Koreans. Along with his personal story, the author offers his personal criticisms of the government and presents the difficulties in solving the problems that plague the country. His open ended questions allow the reader to think about the North Korean plight instead of only hearing his story and dismissing it as an isolated occurrence. When the memoir was first published in 2000, Kang believed that not many outsiders knew about the abuses of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though the author s standpoint would seemingly be clear, considering he was on the brink of starvation for ten years in an internment camp, he brings up the shortfalls of offering aid. He believes the issue of distributing food is the only issue up to debate. Most of the food would be given to the ever growing army and the citizens would be left to subsist on meager rations. Additionally, the aid would allow the government to use its funds for military and self serving interests. He acknowledges that, with a situation such as that in North Korea, aiding the population also means maintaining the regime. This problem is just one example of the difficulty of implementing human rights in deprived areas. The question is never whether or not the citizens deserve human rights; rather, it is a question of how to support the people without supporting the oppressive regime as ... Altamonte Festival, with the goal of having a thank you concert for fans, a day of

unity, celebration, a prime example of classic 1960 s freedom. However, the Altamont concert turned into what was arguably one of the biggest disasters in musical history, going from an event that was supposed to capture the essence of the era; a time of peace and love, instead turning into an utter catastrophe, involving drinking, drugs, thefts, people being arrested, fist

  • 7. The Pros And Cons Of School Students In School In the years after Honig, Congress added emergency exceptions to IDEA permitting school personnel to immediately remove a student with a disability for up to forty five days to an interim alternative educational setting (IAES). This immediate removal is permitted if the student committed one of the following violations on school grounds or at a school function: в– carries a weapon; в– knowingly possesses, uses, sells, or solicits illegal drugs; or в– inflicts serious bodily injury upon another. Therefore, when safety is jeopardized, the ten day rule does not need to be followed; the student with a disability can be removed immediately. Within ten days of that removal, however, the child s IEP team must meet to conduct the MDR and make a decision regarding the IAES. Additionally, school personnel are permitted to consider any unique circumstances on a case by case basis when determining whether to order a change of placement for a student who has violated a code of student conduct. If the parents disagree with a decision to remove their child from school, they may appeal that decision to a hearing officer. Similarly, school officials may appeal when they are concerned that a student s continued presence within the school setting is substantially likely to result in injury to the student or others. The hearing officer has the authority to either return the student to the placement from which he/she was removed or order placement in an IAES. During this period, the student ... • 8. The Importance Of Landscape Throughout Hard Times By... Alicia Gonzalez Professor Richard C. Smith English 150 8 October 2016 The importance of landscape throughout Hard Times by Charles Dickens is seen in various locations that help to thread the novel together. When new scenes are presented to the reader, we are often given explicit details of the characters surrounding and current environment to draw us into that particular moment. The city is mainly described in a more negative light, with words such as ugly and monotonous. In contrast, the countryside (away from the hustle of the working town) is portrayed in such a way that it feels like a pure or sacred space, free of the blemishes of the working town. Dickens creates an underlying importance with how he describes the city versus how he describes the countryside, being that the latter becomes the place of death for one of the main characters Stephen Blackpool. The city of Coketown is a town introduced as an uncompromising, brutal, and fearful place defined by its work and industrialization. The description that we are given of Coketown makes it clear that it is not a place of enjoyment, pleasure, or nature. It is heavily characterized by its repetitive and endless labor. Coketown is therefore essential as a setting displaying the negative aspects of industrialization. However, there is additional significance in the negative portrayal of Coketown. The idea of monotony in the industrial city is one that is returned to several times throughout the novel. Dickens writes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some critics are criticizing President Reagans doctrine and claim that in no way did it help the situation in Afghanistan, many of them claim that it was an epic failure. Others believe the doctrine was instrumental in helping bring an end to communism. One specific advantage that has been credited to the doctrine was the lack of direct involvement of American troops, which allowed the United States to confront Soviet allies without sustaining casualties (Reagan Doctrine, 2014). In a recent article by spark notes, in reality 90% of choirkids are theater geeks and really want to help train their voices, while in glee it seems like they just sing then go to the Gym. Some people find it very offensive when they ask do you want to join show choir , and then they get a response like. NO I hate glee. My first question is what does glee have to do with it? Do people even know what show choir really is? Glee has made millions of dollars trying to portray their way of thinking about show choir. • 13. Effects of Outsourcing Jobs to Overseas Because of outsourcing jobs to overseas many American workers lost their jobs or compelled to work for much less compensation. This trend leads to the shrinkage of middle class income bracket and the reduction of the family s standard of living. Besides, due to the elusive future employment status and the financial problems, many people have to live hand to mouth, and many more have to cut their expenditures in order to survive this dreadful and unpleasant situation. More importantly, the reduction in spending money and the deterioration of consumer confidence can hurt the economy severely and exacerbate the situation. Reich in his article Why Rich are Getting Richer and the Poor, Poorer divides the U.S. professions into three major categories: routine producers, in person servers and symbolic analysts and described the process and likelihood of outsourcing these professions. Routine producers such as manufacturers are the ones in the real risk of losing their jobs as a result of outsourcing since the technological advancements have put them in positions that they have to compete with millions of routine workers in other nations who are willing to work for a much lower wage than their counterparts in America. Therefore, the majority of U.S. routine jobs have moved to the emerging economies. As an example, around late 1970s the famous telecommunication company AT T had a telephone set assembly line in Shreveport, LA. But, later they found out that routine producers in ... Thus, creating an app would make the company more profitable in the market. However, before they are introduced into the world they must develop in a special incubator known as the mother s womb. Throughout the nine months of growth, it is crucial for the mother to consume certain nutrients and avoid harmful substances. In many countries, one of the cognitive disorders is Fetal Alcohol Syndrome(FAS). According to Feldman (2009), Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is a disorder that is induced by pregnant women who have consumed alcohol during the duration of their pregnancy, possibly resulting in mental deformity and delayed the growth of the child. Impairment of the central nervous system results in an array of behavioral problems including hyperactivity, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) and impaired language, as well as difficulties learning and understanding social skills (Thomas, 2008). In addition, prenatal exposure to alcohol disrupts the development of major regions in the central nervous system such as the hippocampus, which contributes to memory (Thomas, 2008). The exposure to alcohol during development in the womb, consequently damaging the central nervous system and the hippocampus, makes the child s learning experience more difficult due to the fact that their learning and their ability to memorize has been impaired. A research study that was done by Sarah N. Mattson, Katherine E. Calarco and Aimee R. Lang has proven that children that have been exposed to alcohol have a slower reaction time and a lower accuracy to respond correctly to a set of stimuli that was presented. The children were evaluated using a paradigm consisting of three conditions: visual focus, auditory focus, and auditory visual shift of attention (Mattson, 2006). On the surface this seems like a great idea how ever I disagree with some parts of the program such as how they decide how much money is enough for a child with For example, the program s scholarship funding fails to take into account the actual cost of serving a child with exceptional educational needs. These organizations provide a lot of service for citizens when it comes to parental planning and contraceptive services in the country. A lot of OB and GYN aren t covered in the national plan but are available through organizations such as Belize Family Life Association (BFLA), the largest of the NGO s. They also deal in STD and HIV testing and other gynecological services. BFLA provides family planning, sexual and reproductive health care services, and serves women and men in one of their five clinics or through the use of mobile clinics to more remote areas. As there is no national family planning policy, BFLA provides the majority of contraceptive services for the entire country (Belize Ministry of Health and Sports Belize Ministry of Human Resources, Women s Affairs and Youth Development, 1997; Macke, 1993.). Why Is The Ford Pinto Unethical The Ford Pinto Xing Liu Jul 9 2015 When putting top priority on the pursuit of interest, people are inclined to make unethical decisions and take unethical actions, because they treat other people merely as a means to their goals by dehumanizing other people. They choose to ignore the fact that all human beings have names, families, soul (they are not property) and independent thinking as we do, deprive innocent people of freedom and well being that these people deserve as human beings, and attach price tags to them for cost benefit analysis. Ford not only underestimated the death toll and injuries, but also overestimated the costs of adding safety improvements by including all Ford vehicles. The court cases nationwide have also increased the costs to Ford. If Ford added the safety shield in the production page, the only loss would be a portion of the expected profits. It is possible for Ford to dominate the compact car market and customers get what they want. • 43. The Slavery Of The South The South, on the other hand, was highly dependent upon the institution of slavery. It was still primarily an agricultural society that needed as many laborers as possible in order for the plantation owners to make ends meet. According to historian Douglas Harper, In 1793 came the cotton gin, which brought a 50 fold increase in the average daily output of short staple cotton, promoted the rapid expansion of a cotton kingdom across the Deep South, and made large scale slaveryprofitable. Because of this, the slave became an essential tool to the farmers of the south; more money became invested in slavery rather than in industrial improvements. Based upon the 1860 U.S. Census, there were almost a whopping total of four million slaves in the South alone. In fact, the more slaves an owner had, the more prestige. Most slave owners owned fewer than five slaves, and only 12 percent of Southerners had twenty or more slaves. Many whites who had no slaves looked with envy upon the wealthy, and to a degree admired them. This hierarchy had a clearly defined social structure which created distinctions between rich and poor whites as well as racial segregation. This agricultural society and its strict hierarchy only increased the social and racial disparities found in the southern region of the United States.
