How the Role of an Audit Firm has Expanded Over Time
As the nature and structure of companies has changed over the years, so has the portfolio of
services that auditors provide. Today, while companies still rely on an auditing firm s classic audit
services, they use the same firms for attestation services and increasingly for financial and non
financial assurance services as well. The changing scope dovetails with a rise in the outsourcing of
non core activities and a heightened need for management to understand and drive continuous
improvement through their business processes. These services are sought from a variety of sources
and are primarily used to aid in the decision making ability of both management and those outside
the company, who might be considering putting their money at... Show more content on

Further in the AU C 200 document one will find the ethical requirement for auditing, and assurance.
The Auditing Standards Board (ASB) and the Generally Accepted Auditing Standards(GAAS) are
written with the standards of the International Standards on Auditing (ISAs), which was issued by
the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB). So the ASB, GAAS, and
IAASB are the main standards setters for auditing and assurance services.
The attest engagements are governed by ASB, which issues Statements on Standards for Attestation
Engagements (SSAEs). The standards cover examination, review, or an agreed upon procedures
report on subject matter, or an assertion about the subject matter, that is the responsibility of
another party (Auditing Standards Board, 2001). There are some exclusions as to what is covered

U.S Slavery History and North Korean Life
Slavery was, and is, the mistreatment of people as property. Slavery in British colonies dates all
the way back to 1619 when African Americans first arrived in Jamestown, Virginia. As soon as
the African Americans arrived they were no longer considered to be human . Slaves were
property; therefore they could be traded and sold. Slaves were cruelly whipped if they did
something their master did not approve of. Some slave owners were so violent that they whipped
their slaves until they bled and then they would rub salt into the wounds. Morosely, slaves were so
horribly mistreated, some chose to take their own lives over continuing to be a slave. In 1863,
Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation which ended slaveryonce and... Show

This network of helping hands aided in hundreds of slaves escaping to freedom each year.
Escaping to The North was extremely hard. Many houses were 10 to 20 miles apart, which meant
slaves had to move fast! Harriet Tubman helped 300 slaves achieve freedom within 19 trips. North
Korea also has a very helpful underground railroad. The North Korean Underground Railroad is a
horrendous path across China that leads to South Korea. It is a treacherous path because China sends
about 200 North Korean refugees back to North Korea each day. As soon as North Koreans are
sent back, they either end up in jail, in a prison camp or are killed. Similar to white people
helping African American slaves escape to freedom, many Chinese and South Korean people try
and help North Koreans escape as well. China does not want refugees to live in their country.
Surprisingly, 300 thousand North Korean refugees live in China because they managed to
escape. Along the dangerous journey through China, there are houses and helpers for those
escaping North Korea. It is a shame that some people and countries are afraid to help North
Koreans because of all the powerful weapons that North Korea has acquired. In conclusion,
underground railroads have helped, and still are, helping many individuals and families have a
better life. Thankfully, as soon as slaves reached Canada, or any free Northern U.S state, they were
completely free. A few slaves feared that their owner was

Premature Babies And The Obstacles Involved
Premature Babies And the obstacles involved As a father who has personally experienced the
struggles and hardships of having a premature child, I feel like giving you information on this
subject is a lot easier for me to share than most things. I will preface by sharing my son s
experience; he was born at 26 weeks gestation, weighing 2 pounds, 6 ounces, and spent more
than three months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) that was available in Columbus,
Georgia. A large amount of families with infants in the NICU asks what the outlook for babies
born earlier than 28 weeks might be? Less than 1 percent of babies in this country are born this
early (earlier than 28 weeks), but these babies have the most complications despite great
technological advances in medicine today. Premature children born at an extremely low birth
weight (less than 2 pounds, 3 ounces) almost always require treatment with oxygen, surfactant, and
mechanical assistance to help them breathe (even if for a short period of time until they can
breathe on their own without assistance). These babies are too immature to suck, swallow, and
breathe at the same time, so they must be fed through a vein (intravenously) until they develop
these skills to do so. They often can not cry (or you can t hear them due to the tube in their throat
causing a kitten like groan), and sleep most of the day to allow for growth and development outside
of being in the womb. These tiny babies have little muscle tone,

Informal Counselling Styles
Secondly, telephone, email, and online counselling, are all types of informal counselling styles
(Lester and Rogers, 2013). There are many advantages for individuals who chose to seek
guidance and support through the use of informal counselling. Informal counselling can be
extremely helpful for people who do not have much money or people who have a demanding
lifestyle (King et al., 2006). According to Mariampolski, (2002) informal styles are easier to
access, they are more affordable, are flexible in regards to time, and they are genuinely more
convenient for most people as many individuals do not have time to attend sessions or group
meetings. In addition, informal counselling is entirely set up by the client, allowing them to access

Overall, the most suitable style of counselling in regards to this case study would be a more
structured, formal style of counselling. This is because the client has multiple issues, meaning that

All Hallow s Eve Eve
All Hallow s Eve
Whether or not you re a believer in the supernatural, you have to admit there isn t a day quite as
mystical or spiritual as All Hallow s Eve. The word Halloween means hallowed evening or holy
evening . Its origins go back hundreds of years and its place in modern day culture is
continuously evolving. A multitude of cultures see this day as the time when the veil between
this world and the spirit world is at its thinnest. But, a very large number of people see this day
as excuse to dress up, get drunk, and eat candy. So, what is it about Halloween that draws in
millions of people every year? Is it a simple case of party fever, or is it something much more
spellbinding? While not definite, many scholars believe All Hallows Eve began as a Christianized
feast influenced by Celtic harvest festivals including possible pagan roots, particularly the Gaelic
festival Samhain. Other scholars maintain that it originated independently of Samhain and has
solely Christian roots. Historian Nicholas Rogers notes that while some folklorists have
detected its origins in the Roman feast of Pomona, the goddess of fruits and seeds, or in the
festival of the dead called Parentalia, it is more typically linked to the Celtic festival of Samhain
, which comes from the Old Irish for summer s end . It was held on or around the 31st of October
through the 1st of November and kindred festivals were held at the same time of year by the
Brittonic Celts; for example Calan

Morality In Ignatius A Confederacy Of Dunces
Whereas Ignatius rather nonsensical pessimistic worldview comes from his sense of being
morally greater than his society (and, therefore, from looking at it in disgust), and from a position
of general opulence, Elie s stems from a macabre realization that all people, including himself, are
bestial and selfish, and from a position of total destitution. Ignatius believed himself to be a beacon
of moralityin an otherwise dismal society. For instance, throughout A Confederacy of Dunces, he
would write about the evils of the hedonistic, bourgeois society in which he lived, and about how
the world would be in a much better position if based on the medieval principles (such as divine
right and cruel forms of torture) in which he subscribed were

Hunger Of Memory Analysis
In The Class the character Wei is portrayed as an immigrant who rarely participates or gets
involved with his classmates due to the language barrier. In the autobiography Hunger of Memory
by Richard Rodriguez, Rodriguez himself had difficulties participating in class, and interacting
with his fellow classmates due to the language barrier. In both The Class and Hunger of Memory
Wei and Rodriguez share the common bond of feelinglike an alien in the classroom due to knowing
more of their private language that they speak regularly speak at home to speaking a language
foreign to them, that they have to practice everyday on their own to get familiar with the language
and perfect their pronunciations.
I want people to discuss how being a child of an immigrant you have higher expectations to
achieve, such as having a good education, go to college, get good grades, and be expected to
learn a new language. I want the question to reflect back on the terms private language and
public language from Hunger of Memory and how those terms contribute to Wei s character in
the film The Class. I want people to go deeper and discuss the emotions and process both Wei and
Richard Rodriguez go through. How in the beginning both wouldn t interact in the class due to
only knowing one language properly. How they both went from shy to being a participant in class.
Both Wei and Rodriguez have respect towards their parents and do what their parents ask them too,

Virginia Beach focuses in on demographic and behavioral segmentation to appeal to potential
tourists (pg. 89). They think of age ranges and what is going on in that time of your life and
create advertisements to appeal to you. They call this what each group lives for (pg. 89) Since
Virginia Beach focuses in on each demographic by age group they should also focus in on
income. Singles without children may be willing to spend more. They could advertise beach front

would also still advertise the Charter fishing trips, they are a year round activity.

in this age range to be surrounded by people their own age. They are young and still want to go

Critical Discourse Analysis For An International Crisis...
Methodology
Critical discourse analysis
For an international crisis happening thousands miles away, it is not sufficient to be understood
without acknowledging itself as a mediated complex. From critical linguistics perspective,
Fowler (1991/2013) believes news is socially constructed. What events are reported is not a
reflection of intrinsic importance of those events, but reveals the operation of a complex and
artificial set of criteria for selection (p. 2). The news media select events for reporting according to
a complex set of criteria of newsworthiness; so news is not simply that which happens, but that
which can be regarded and presented as newsworthy (p.13).
Filtered by the latent criteria, the final representation of Hong Kong protests in Canadian press is
the outcome of social inclusion and exclusion. In Fowler s sense, representation is a constructive
practice. Hong Kong protests are not communicated neutrally in natural structure per se. Instead,
they were transmitted through the Canadian press with its own structural features permeated by
Canadian social values. The discourse of Hong Kong protests reflects the social actions
accomplished by language users when they communicate in social situations and within society and
culture at large (van Dijk, 1997, pp. 13 14).
So to speak, studying how the protests were represented requires not only analyzing texts or
processes of production and interpretation, but also analyzing the relationship between texts,

Uses And Accuracy Of Newton s Method
Newton s Method Introduction Sir Isaac Newton is famous for many discoveries in both math
and science. From gravity to calculus, Newton made many fundamental breakthroughs that have
shaped thought for centuries and are still in use today. For this reason, Newton has always been
one of the most interesting characters in history for me and thus is why I found such great
interest in his theories and being able to explore them further. However, though he had countless
monumental breakthroughs, he also had other theories that are not as well known, which
interested me even more as they are not discussed as much in school. One such theory is Newton
s method for approximating the zeroes of a function, which is simply known as Newton s
Method. This method is a unique approach for approximating zeroes due to its use of several
iterations of a formula to slowly grow closer and closer to the zero. The aim of this paper is to
investigate the use and accuracy of Newton s Method to approximate the zeroes of a function. This
investigation aims to explore the history of the method and possible influences to Newton s
discovery, the basic mechanics of the method such as how and when it works, and finally Newton s
method will be compared to the most conventional means of determining the zeroes of function
which are the algebraic formulas like the quadratic formula. History Although it was Newton who
would eventually be credited with the discovery of a method for finding the roots of a

The Physical And Spiritual Restoration Essay
The book of Nehemiah is about the physical and spiritual restoration in Jerusalem. Nehemiah is
viewed as one of the great leaders in the Old Testament. He led a group of Jews to rebuild the walls
in Jerusalem. He shows his leadership through his prayers, sensitivity, boldness, and many other
characteristics.
In his prayers, Nehemiah shared his burden and responsibility with God whenever he was faced
with trouble, and in the end God answered his prayers. Nehemiah 4:4 Hear us, our God, for we
are despised. Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of
captivity. Prayer is a way that a godly leader allows God to strengthen him and guide his steps. A
godly leader looks and relies on God for strength and direction. In Nehemiah 1:5 11 His heart for
the city led him to pray to God in confession, praise, and for others. Then I said: Lord, the God of

back in the 1980 s as a metaphor for the invisible and artificial barriers that blocked women and

Difference Between Parallel Thinking And Argumentative...
Parallel thinking and argumentative thinking are two different types of thinking method. Parallel
thinking method is commonly known as six hats thinking, which was invented by Dr. Edward de

solving problems by using your imagination to find new ways of looking at the problem. It indicates
that all participants are looking for the common goal at the same time and individual can have

Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis
Younger Dryas Climate Event
Occurring about 12,800 years ago, The Younger Dryas Climate Event was an abrupt climate change
that dropped the Earth temperature by about 10 degrees, bringing dry winds ( Abrupt Climate
Change , 2003). This event followed a warming trend that had resulted in glacier melting. As the
melting water filtered down the Mississippi and into the Gulf of Mexico, its route suddenly
diverted, carrying the water east into the Atlantic Ocean. This change in the water path disrupted
both the salinity and the flow in the ocean system, thus changing the climate of the Northern region.
Unfortunately, 30 species of animals became extinct as a result of the changes, and nearly 80
percent of North America s large animals disappeared (video). Ending abruptly, the Younger Dryas

Although no debate exists regarding whether this event occurred, several theories have been created
explaining the reason why it occurred. One such theory is the Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis,
also known as the Clovis Comet Hypothesis, which proposes that a comet or asteroid hit North
America, killing off many animals and human instantly, and non adapting species were also
eradicated due to starvation (video). One critique of this hypothesis is that no crater has been found
on Earth s surface; however, it is likely that the comet hit the glacier, which ultimately melted and
left no physical sign. Another hypothesis depends on the idea of a thermohaline circulation
shutdown due to the changes in ocean circulation ( Abrupt Climate Change , 2003). A problem with
this hypothesis, however, is that another glacier melting event occurred following the Younger
Dryas, and it did not create a massive climate change. Another theory states that the climate change
was brought on by Earth s orbital changes, but much more information is needed regarding this

Theme Of Archetypes In Romeo And Juliet
Carl Gustav Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who was the founder analytical
psychology, once stated: The contents of the collective unconscious are archetypes, primordial
images that reflect basic patterns that are common to us all, and which have existed universally
since the dawn of time (Carl Gustav Jung). Originally published in 1597, William Shakespeare
devised a renowned play about two star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Most can argue that a
prominent factor behind the choice of language throughout this play was influenced by archetypes
and the psychological aspect behind them, depicting patterns that reside within a collective
unconscious, universally apparent and populated by instinct. Throughout the romantic, yet
devastating, story of Romeo and Juliet,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carl Jung investigated this realm of consciousness and discovered that human beings, as a species,
encompass almost identical traits of thought under our collective unconsciousness, which is the
determining component of how the world is considered in perspective, including the symbolism
apparent in religion, mythology, and other historical documents. In the play, Romeo and Juliet,
Shakespeare harnessed this knowledge in order to convey his ideas with text that ensured the
readers understood his story and could base a personal interpretation from it. Thus, after analyzing
the dreams of schizophrenic patients, ancient symbolism, mythology, religion, biology, and
evolution, one can come to the conclusion that each of these areas can, in fact, be proven to have a
correlating relationship with the human psyche, adapting to its conditions yet never losing its
mutual and uniting bond through time and

Comparing Who s For The Game And Dulce Et Decorum Est
Comparative Poetry Essay I have chosen to compare Who s for the game? written by Jessie
Pope and Dulce Et Decorum Est written by Wilfred Owen. I have decided to choose these two
poems since they both represent two different perspectives of war. Jessie Pope writes to
encourage men to explain that war is an adventure, that men should experience. On the other
hand, Wilfred Owen writes about the horrors he experienced at war. His poem gives a
descriptive background of the atrocity men went through during the war. Both poems represent
different aspects on whether men should go to war. In Who s for the game , Pope s poem writes
to encourage men to partake in the war to give their country a hand. Pope strongly believes that
war is a requirement that men should uptake. Pope uses statements such as who ll give their
country a hand? to grab the attention of men and to inspire them to join the war. In contrast to
Pope s poem, Wilfred Owen s poem is written to tell his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wilfred Owen writes his poem due to his experience at war. He writes about the sights and
images of what he witnessed during the war. He includes personal examples of a couple of
experiences involving him. An example of this was taken place, when he saw a guy plunging at
him, guttering, choking, drowning. He witnessed someone dying and uses this experience in his
poem. However, Pope never experienced what Wilfred Owen went through during the war. This
made her a propagandist when it came to writing Who s for the game? . Pope firmly believed
that men should fight at war and if not, she made them feel guilty. Pope did this by writing your
country is up to her neck in a fight, And she s looking and calling for you . This put pressure on
men to fight. Pope never knew or realised the trauma men went through during the war. It is clear
that both poems have been heavily impacted by the poet s life

The Controversy Of Induced Abortion
Abortion is the act of disposing of an embryo, fetus, unborn baby (Abortion). There are two primary
types of abortion; spontaneous and induced. Spontaneous abortion is an accidental death of an
unborn baby. This can happen for multiple reasons like infections, drugs, diseases, and so forth.
This type of abortionis mainly known as a miscarriage. But the main type of abortion we will be
focused on during this paper is induced. Induced abortion is a completely deliberate murder of an
innocent child. This dispelling of a fetusis done in several different ways and different times. We
will be going through all of the different subcategories of induced abortion such as RU486, suction,

To perform this operation they use a syringe to suck out most of the amniotic fluid. The using a
needle they insert the saline solution to burn the child alive. The baby can feel this pain and it
burns every system in the childs body. After the baby is killed the mother then will deliver a
charred child and then the doctor will discard the body. This method of abortion obviously cause
pain to the baby but it may also cause pain to the mother if they inject the wrong area of the mother
with the saline solution they may permanently harm the patient. This method is banned in many
countries for an obvious reason.

Age Restrictions And Opening Doors
By the 1890s public libraries were eliminating age restrictions and opening their doors to children.
They shelved collections of children s books in closed stacks with the adult books, or in open
shelving within adult reading rooms. Eventually, children in the adult reading room created a
nuisance for the adult patrons. At Denver Public LibraryJohn Cotton Dana remarked, for the
comfort of the elder reader it is certainly desirable that children not come in large numbers into
the part of the library in which the public is given access to the shelves (Kimball, 2014, p. 491).
As a solution, libraries began to house their children s collections in separate children s room
away from the adults. The term children s room appears in library professional literature in
1890 (McDowell, 2014, p. 523). That same year, the first children s room was opened in
Brookline, M.A. under the supervision of the library s janitor (Sayers, 1963, p. 9 10). In 1896,
Lutie Stearns published her Report on Reading for the Young, a survey of children s work in 195
libraries in the U.S. and Canada, and found that between в…• and ВЅ of the membership of
responding libraries were children under sixteen, but only a handful had a separate children s room
(p. 82 85).

Defining An Effective Leader
My view on leaders is that leaders are those who accept additional responsibility above normal
for decisions making and guiding others. Leaders will usually help direct others to become
successful. Individuals usually choose their leader, whether it s a good decision or not, each
person chooses who they follow. They will judge by behavior, attitude and actions. Qualities of
a positive leader are shown in their actions and words. Most often, positive leaders are always
striving for the best and won t settle for less out of others that may be on their team. Leaders
normally don t direct with directives, they direct by showing examples. Instead of telling their
peers or team exactly what to do, leaders will show or lead their directives by examples. Leaders
normally stay in close contact with their assigned teams, if leading a team. Leaders... Show more

Canada, the second largest country on earth, embodies 20 natural regions or ecozones such as the
Northern Arctic Ecozone and the Prairie Ecozone that are distinct in their nature. Each of these
ecozones has a variety of features that outstand in the overall Canadian ecosystem and contribute
to the diversity of geographical landforms and species. Aside from the geological location
difference of these subdivided land masses, the Northern Arctic Ecozone and the Prairie Ecozone
are also markedly differed by landforms, vegetation, and wildlife. Covering 1.5 million square

Only covering about 5 percent of Canada, this Ecozone occupies a semi circular area that has its
base on the Canada U.S. border and arc from the western edge of Alberta to the eastern edge of

its rolling plains. Some local areas can be hummocky and potholed, providing depressions for the
establishment of wetlands, ponds and small lakes. On the other hand, in terms of vegetation,
Prairie Ecozone is considerably lusher than Northern Arctic that the short grass prairies in the
south merge into mixed grass and the tall grass areas. As the moisture patterns improve
northwards, grasslands expand. Though, as almost 95 percent of the Prairie Ecozone have been
covert into farmland, the natural vegetation is generally dominated by spear grass, wheat grass,
and blue grama grass. The northern edge of this Ecozone is dotted with groves of trembling aspen
and balsam poplar. Sagebrush is abundant but deciduous and coniferous trees are largely absent.
Moreover, in terms of wildlife, the Prairie Ecozone is richer than Northern Arctic. Plain bison,

Throughout the settlement of Western America, Native Americans were culturally assimilated.
This was an attempt by the Americans to transform the Natives culture and civilize them through

Movement was a revival of Native beliefs that further helped them regain hope through religion.
Specifically, it was a religion of the late 1880s and early 1890s that combined elements of
Christianity and traditional Native American religion. It fostered the Plains Indians hope that they

Following a steady decline since 2006, the Juvenile violent Crimes Index arrest rate reached a new
historic low point in 2014. However, crime rates in the 1980 s was comparatively lower than the

more efficient criminals. Which is why we need to reinforce the juvenile justice system. A quote
from Hanna Chiou further fortifies this statement. ...if our justice system uses mental incompetency
as the reason juveniles have their own separate and more lenient court, why aren t 40 year olds

is it that age means automatic innocence? Children who commit these crimes have obviously

it is not a substitute for intercourse, and it acts as important role in women s sexuality because its
practice helps women to achieve orgasm during intercourse. However, recent research shows some

American Born Chinese Stereotypes Analysis
American Born Chinese Stereotype Essay
The most common stereotypes today are dumb blonde, geek, nerd, smart asian, fat american,
terrorist. These insults are used everyday, as it is a way for society to label people for being
different from everyone else. Stereotypes are used in American Born Chinese to show how
stereotypes are used to negatively group people, to depict how others bully those who are different,
and are used to show how stereotypes affect those they are directed towards and those around them
in a negative way.
The first way stereotypes are used is to show negative stereotypes from the looks from other
people. One example of this happening is on page 31. [Timmy ] My momma says Chinese people

One example Yang gave was when Jin was eating his lunch and a group of boys went over to
him. They teased him about eating dogs (Yang 32 33). This only because Timmy and the teacher
assumed the worst of Jin s culture and associated him with it. These kids were bullying Jin
because he was different. This happens everywhere from the workplace to the classroom and
some people think that it is true so it is okay. In order to make them look and feel superior, the
kids bullied Jin and made him feel left out and not worth anything. This also happens today, as
people are constantly putting down others at work or in school due to their race, religion, or just by
the way they look. Another example of stereotypes being used to show superiority is when Peter
Grabinsky taking Jin s sandwich and promising to be his friend if he continued to give his lunch
to him (Peter) (Yang 34). Peter then treats Jin as if he is a dog s favorite toy that will soon be
forgotten and thrown away. This does happen, as Peter leaves to live with his father and leaves
Jin. This example shows how Peter took advantage of the other children s disliking towards Jin
due to what he looked like by taking his lunch and abusing him. Both of these show how students
of mayflower elementary treat Jin as if he is useless and bully him in order to make them feel
special. The kids saw that Jin was different and their brains seemed to associate him with eating
dogs and coming from china. To sum it up, the children making fun of Jin for supposedly eating
dogs just shows that the children are making him seem abnormal and a shame to society just
because he is from a country that does things that are frowned upon in their

Eastern and Western Parallels
Throughout time, Westerners have more or less oppressed Eastern culture, creating the west as the
metaphysical head of the world. The west s ethnocentric tendencies, have acted as a suppressant to
the spread of non western thought. Even though Eastern ideologies tend to differ greatly from
thoughts of the western world, there is some level of unity between the two. Unlike the ecclesiastical
influences, seen in the west, Confucianism and Sikhi present thoughts about the individual and
humankind s natural goodness. In many cases of political and social order, Eastern and Western
philosophy have found themselves parallel in thought.
Western society views Confucianism as only a partial social contract. Primarily there is an idea of
creation associated with the term social contract, which is not relevant to Confucian thought. This
ideology, different from most Western societies, has no cosmogony at all, as Western theory of
freestanding creation and two realms holds no truth to Confucian thinkers. Confucians believe that
the world and the cosmos have always been, and there has never been any separate divine realm.
Any transitions that occur are consequent to an important system of change and betterment. Unlike
most Western cultures and the idea of the social contract, in Confucian thought there is no necessity
for consent for government. An element of self governance is also present in this ideology, as a
part of what Confucian thinkers believe as being human. Confucianism leans

Toyota s Management Structure Functional Integration
One of Toyota s issues was their lack of organizational culture, perceived or real. Thus,
organizational culture is the shared values that are accepted by members of the organization
(Bethel, 2016). Unfortunately, Toyota s corporate culture was one of total secrecy, which left many
feeling there was something amiss. Further, corporate arrogance, complacency, and company
insular nature were evident (Parnell, 2014, p. 603). Additionally, newly appointed CEO Akio
Toyoda was invisible, which created contention amongst others in leadership. There seemed to be a
belief that family members were focused on safety, while non family members were focused on
profits (Parnell, 2014).
Likewise, Toyota s management structure lacked functional integration because the functional
operating areas reported directly to Japan. Basically, it was top down management structure, which
may have led to several of the key issues, which were:
High growth trajectory
Corporate culture
Poor leadership
Management structure
Failure to own mistakes
Focus on cost cutting
Pressure on suppliers to reduce costs (Parnell, 2014).
Clearly, Toyota was in the automobilemanufacturing industry and had been for many years. Hence

The Heroic and Honorable Knight in The Canterbury Tales ...
Knights are one of the most mistaken figures of the medieval era due to fairytales and over
exaggerated fiction novels. When medieval knights roamed the earth, it was known that they were
only human and, like humans, had faults. These knights did not always live up to the standards
designated by society. However, in The Canterbury Tales, the knightis revealed as a character that
would now be considered a knight in shining armor, a perfect role model in how he acts and what
he does. Modern day people see them as chivalrous figures instead of their actual role as mounted
cavalrysoldiers. As time passes, the idea of what a knight is changes from a simple cavalry soldier
to a specific type of behavior.
Historically, knights were not very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Canterbury Tales, the knight is a modern type of knight. Although the description of this
character s personality is vague, it is not hard for modern day people to visualize him. In the
prologue, it mentions that the knight follows the five basic ideals that a good knight should
possess: chivalry, Truth, honour, generousness, and courtesy (Chaucer 4). The knight fought in the
Crusades, wars in which Europeans traveled by sea to non Christian places and tried to convert
people s culture by brute force, which was considered noble and brave hearted. From his love of
the five basics ideals previously mentioned to his impressive military career, the knight is a perfect
example of how a knight should be represented. Indirectly, the tale is discussing both the knight and
the idea of how a knight should be. The tale does not describe much about the knight as in physical
appearances and characteristics of this knight but as the tale comes to an end, the book starts to
unfold how this story connects with this character. The tale itself is not important yet it s what the
tale represents that is important, such as pursuing courtly love, risking death, and respecting
women. All of the previously mentioned attributes are ones that knights should possess to achieve
expected standards.
A knight s characteristics are usually described by using power and authority but, in actuality, the
knight is just a servant to a higher authority. An

reference to be recorded in the Post Ref. column. In this practice set, in order to receive full
marks, every transaction entered in a special journal requires an entry in the Post Ref. column.
Note that in the special journals, if the account name selected for a transaction corresponds to the
heading of one of the columns in that special journal, the post ref is to be recorded as an X. This
is because these transactions are not posted on a daily basis. In order to receive full marks, you
must record only the letter X in the Post Ref. column for these transactions. Note that in special
journals, the Other Accounts column should not be used to record movements of inventory. There
may be entries in the general journal that require posting to both a control account and a subsidiary
ledger. In these cases, after you have posted to both ledgers, you should enter the reference for the
subsidiary ledger account in the Post Ref. column to indicate that you have posted to both accounts.
General journal entries do NOT require a description of the journal entries. Ledgers: When posting a

Why I Am I Here
Why am I here? That s the question I ve been asking myself since I ve been here. I m spending
almost thirty grand on four classes, a dorm, a meal plan, and etc. Sometimes I question myself
whether thirty grand is worth my time but I m here to get an education from a good university.
Though it s still a lot of money that I don t have. Though I am here undecided, I am looking to
choose a vocational or a degree career will help me become succesful in the future.
Gary Gutting Wrote, What is College For? Gutting explains that college is for students who wantto
gain knowledge for the rest of their life, that it s not the teacher s job just to teach but the student
s to engage and make it interesting, and then they become interesting as well. Too most students
they may have answered this question differently, some would have said they wanted to live
better, make friends, and others might say that his or her family s been planning college since
they were tiny. My parents have tried to finish college, but were never able to finish it, but I m
not here because they want me to go. My family has lived paycheck to paycheck with four
children, five cats and three dogs. There s my answer I am here because I want to have four
children, five cats and 3 dogs and not live paycheck to paycheck. I want to be able to financially
secured future. Not having to worry about the fact that I have to buy food over paying overdue rent
or asking my parent s for money that they don t have. Gutting

Oak, Michigan. Charles Coughlin talked about many different topics including communism,
socialism, capitalists, international bankers, Jews and the American Democracy System. He
called on Americans to take a stand for God and for America. He wants to restore America to the
Americans. Americans had pride in their country and themselves. They believed that the husband
would go to work in a factory while the wife stayed at home to take care of their children and the
home. The Great Depression was a crisis for the nation. Father Charles Coughlin was very

Abortions Should Not Be Made On Immoral Actions
[1]Our world has an immense collection of advanced technologies, but it is a shame that many use
it for immoral actions. Such technology has given mankind the power to produce desired children
from a cellular level, but at the same time offer families the freedom to abort the unwanted. In his
article, Rajendra Kale (2012) argues that healthcare professionals should not inform parents the sex
of the unborn until 30 weeks of pregnancyto avoid termination. In another article, Margaret Little
(2005) reasons that abortions are merely the demise of fetuses, and not the violation of rights to
live. Although the two present themselves in different ways, it can be assumed that Little would
ultimately support Kale s assessments. Perhaps the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, Kale argues that many feticides are prevailing due to the mere fact that the fetus is a
female. He believes that many families use gender balance among their children as a decent
reason to allow female feticide (2012). This is clearly not a decent enough reason; it is
discrimination and an excuse to kill an undesired sex. Little also supports this argument. She
uses an analogy that a girl should not end her pregnancy for the fact that she just wants to fit into
a party dress as an adequate reason(2005). To do so, is just a blind act of defiancey. There are
many more prejudiced reasons around the world that families use to opt for termination. Both
Kale and Little would agree that such filial reasons should not be used to extinguish a fetal life.
Next, Kale argues that women face emotional and physical trauma due to family pressures. Many
societies pressure woman to abort their kin against their will. Kale believes that his 30 week
policy would put an end to such practices, even if temporarily. The reason for this claim is because
without the knowledge of the fetus s sex, families are forced to continue the pregnancy. Little
accounts several situations where women faced trauma due to pregnancy: her sister s morning
sickness, her friend s pregnancy psychosis, or

Female Infanticide and Foeticide Essay
Female Infanticide and Foeticide
It is regrettable that female infanticide and foeticide are rapidly decreasing the female population
throughout India. The main factors that is responsible for the increase in the incidence of female
infanticide and foeticide is the low status of women, son preference, and the practice of dowry
across all casts groups.
The low status of women and girls is due to cultural beliefs and the material cost they represent to
their families. Vanaja Dhruvarajan says that there is a belief regarding the nature of men and
women: Men are ritually pure, physically strong, and emotionally mature; women, on the other
hand, are ritually pollutable, physically weak, and lack strong willpower (30). Because of these ...

Overall, girls get poorer education than boys, and become less aware of the world around them.
Therefore, they become dependent on men, whether it is the father, the husband or the son.
The preference for male children is due to three major reasons. One is the economic value of
having sons. Sons are more likely than daughters to provide family labour on the farm or in a
family business, earn wages, and support their parents during old age. Upon marriage, a son
brings a daughter in law into his family, and she provides additional help around the house as well
as she brings riches in the form of dowry payments. Another important advantage of having sons is
their social cultural utility. In India patriarchal family system, having one son is essential for the
continuation of the family line, and many sons provide high status to the family. Vanaja
Dhruvarajan says, When a women becomes a mother, especially the mother of a son, her status
goes up in her new home for having helped perpetuate the family (87) Finally, the utility of having
sons comes from the important religious functions that only sons can provide. In Hindu tradition,
sons are needed to do the funeral of their deceased parents and to help in the salvation of their souls.
Daughters are considered to be an economic problem to her parents mainly because of the heavy
dowry payment demanded by the groom s family, as well as the high cost of the wedding,

The Passage Of Time Affects The Memory Of The Holocaust
The passage of time affects our memories of the past by the memory content that we experience
in life which shows us that the more changing experiences we have, the longer subjective
duration lasts for. The bigger and more intense memories have a greater impact on the memories
that we tend to hold on to and remember for lifetime. For example, a weekend spent at home
doing our usual routines passes very quickly. In contrast, a weekend when we travel to a new
destination with a friend lasts much longer or like in novels that we have read when the Nazi
regime took over Europe and cause 60 million people to lose their lives. By stating this, I
understand that we can recall many different, new, and catastrophic events. This memory load
expands over time. Also, if we look into Maus when Vladek was once a wealthy man before the
war, is brought to having to garner and reserve even the smallest of items, such as the wrapper
from cheese, or the cigarettes from his rations. These items took on a huge importance to
Vladek, and even years later, he feels unable to dispose them cause of what he had to go through.
Vladek also has had a tough time asking for help doing daily chores around the house because of
how his skills and determination proved his survival during the Holocaust. The way these types of
memories help us today by remembering the color and tint of them is quite simple. We achieve this
by learning from our past experiences, good or bad, and understanding the way people

  • 2. How the Role of an Audit Firm has Expanded Over Time As the nature and structure of companies has changed over the years, so has the portfolio of services that auditors provide. Today, while companies still rely on an auditing firm s classic audit services, they use the same firms for attestation services and increasingly for financial and non financial assurance services as well. The changing scope dovetails with a rise in the outsourcing of non core activities and a heightened need for management to understand and drive continuous improvement through their business processes. These services are sought from a variety of sources and are primarily used to aid in the decision making ability of both management and those outside the company, who might be considering putting their money at... • 3. U.S Slavery History and North Korean Life Slavery was, and is, the mistreatment of people as property. Slavery in British colonies dates all the way back to 1619 when African Americans first arrived in Jamestown, Virginia. As soon as the African Americans arrived they were no longer considered to be human . Slaves were property; therefore they could be traded and sold. Slaves were cruelly whipped if they did something their master did not approve of. Some slave owners were so violent that they whipped their slaves until they bled and then they would rub salt into the wounds. Morosely, slaves were so horribly mistreated, some chose to take their own lives over continuing to be a slave. In 1863, Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation which ended slaveryonce and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many houses were 10 to 20 miles apart, which meant slaves had to move fast! Harriet Tubman helped 300 slaves achieve freedom within 19 trips. North Korea also has a very helpful underground railroad. The North Korean Underground Railroad is a horrendous path across China that leads to South Korea. It is a treacherous path because China sends about 200 North Korean refugees back to North Korea each day. As soon as North Koreans are sent back, they either end up in jail, in a prison camp or are killed. Similar to white people helping African American slaves escape to freedom, many Chinese and South Korean people try and help North Koreans escape as well. China does not want refugees to live in their country. Surprisingly, 300 thousand North Korean refugees live in China because they managed to escape. Along the dangerous journey through China, there are houses and helpers for those escaping North Korea. It is a shame that some people and countries are afraid to help North Koreans because of all the powerful weapons that North Korea has acquired. In conclusion, underground railroads have helped, and still are, helping many individuals and families have a better life. Premature Babies And The Obstacles Involved Premature Babies And the obstacles involved As a father who has personally experienced the struggles and hardships of having a premature child, I feel like giving you information on this subject is a lot easier for me to share than most things. I will preface by sharing my son s experience; he was born at 26 weeks gestation, weighing 2 pounds, 6 ounces, and spent more than three months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) that was available in Columbus, Georgia. A large amount of families with infants in the NICU asks what the outlook for babies born earlier than 28 weeks might be? Less than 1 percent of babies in this country are born this early (earlier than 28 weeks), but these babies have the most complications despite great technological advances in medicine today. Premature children born at an extremely low birth weight (less than 2 pounds, 3 ounces) almost always require treatment with oxygen, surfactant, and mechanical assistance to help them breathe (even if for a short period of time until they can breathe on their own without assistance). These babies are too immature to suck, swallow, and breathe at the same time, so they must be fed through a vein (intravenously) until they develop these skills to do so. They often can not cry (or you can t hear them due to the tube in their throat causing a kitten like groan), and sleep most of the day to allow for growth and development outside of being in the womb. These tiny babies have little muscle tone, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. All Hallow s Eve Eve All Hallow s Eve Whether or not you re a believer in the supernatural, you have to admit there isn t a day quite as mystical or spiritual as All Hallow s Eve. The word Halloween means hallowed evening or holy evening . Its origins go back hundreds of years and its place in modern day culture is continuously evolving. A multitude of cultures see this day as the time when the veil between this world and the spirit world is at its thinnest. But, a very large number of people see this day as excuse to dress up, get drunk, and eat candy. So, what is it about Halloween that draws in millions of people every year? Is it a simple case of party fever, or is it something much more spellbinding? While not definite, many scholars believe All Hallows Eve began as a Christianized feast influenced by Celtic harvest festivals including possible pagan roots, particularly the Gaelic festival Samhain. Other scholars maintain that it originated independently of Samhain and has solely Christian roots. Historian Nicholas Rogers notes that while some folklorists have detected its origins in the Roman feast of Pomona, the goddess of fruits and seeds, or in the festival of the dead called Parentalia, it is more typically linked to the Celtic festival of Samhain , which comes from the Old Irish for summer s end . It was held on or around the 31st of October through the 1st of November and kindred festivals were held at the same time of year by the Brittonic Celts; for example Calan ... • 11. Critical Discourse Analysis For An International Crisis... Methodology Critical discourse analysis For an international crisis happening thousands miles away, it is not sufficient to be understood without acknowledging itself as a mediated complex. From critical linguistics perspective, Fowler (1991/2013) believes news is socially constructed. What events are reported is not a reflection of intrinsic importance of those events, but reveals the operation of a complex and artificial set of criteria for selection (p. 2). The news media select events for reporting according to a complex set of criteria of newsworthiness; so news is not simply that which happens, but that which can be regarded and presented as newsworthy (p.13). Filtered by the latent criteria, the final representation of Hong Kong protests in Canadian press is the outcome of social inclusion and exclusion. In Fowler s sense, representation is a constructive practice. Hong Kong protests are not communicated neutrally in natural structure per se. Instead, they were transmitted through the Canadian press with its own structural features permeated by Canadian social values. The discourse of Hong Kong protests reflects the social actions accomplished by language users when they communicate in social situations and within society and culture at large (van Dijk, 1997, pp. 13 14). So to speak, studying how the protests were represented requires not only analyzing texts or processes of production and interpretation, but also analyzing the relationship between texts, ... From gravity to calculus, Newton made many fundamental breakthroughs that have shaped thought for centuries and are still in use today. For this reason, Newton has always been one of the most interesting characters in history for me and thus is why I found such great interest in his theories and being able to explore them further. However, though he had countless monumental breakthroughs, he also had other theories that are not as well known, which interested me even more as they are not discussed as much in school. One such theory is Newton s method for approximating the zeroes of a function, which is simply known as Newton s Method. This method is a unique approach for approximating zeroes due to its use of several iterations of a formula to slowly grow closer and closer to the zero. The aim of this paper is to investigate the use and accuracy of Newton s Method to approximate the zeroes of a function. This investigation aims to explore the history of the method and possible influences to Newton s discovery, the basic mechanics of the method such as how and when it works, and finally Newton s method will be compared to the most conventional means of determining the zeroes of function which are the algebraic formulas like the quadratic formula. Nehemiah is viewed as one of the great leaders in the Old Testament. He led a group of Jews to rebuild the walls in Jerusalem. He shows his leadership through his prayers, sensitivity, boldness, and many other characteristics. In his prayers, Nehemiah shared his burden and responsibility with God whenever he was faced with trouble, and in the end God answered his prayers. Nehemiah 4:4 Hear us, our God, for we are despised. A godly leader looks and relies on God for strength and direction. In Nehemiah 1:5 11 His heart for the city led him to pray to God in confession, praise, and for others. Then I said: Lord, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis Younger Dryas Climate Event Occurring about 12,800 years ago, The Younger Dryas Climate Event was an abrupt climate change that dropped the Earth temperature by about 10 degrees, bringing dry winds ( Abrupt Climate Change , 2003). This event followed a warming trend that had resulted in glacier melting. As the melting water filtered down the Mississippi and into the Gulf of Mexico, its route suddenly diverted, carrying the water east into the Atlantic Ocean. This change in the water path disrupted both the salinity and the flow in the ocean system, thus changing the climate of the Northern region. One critique of this hypothesis is that no crater has been found on Earth s surface; however, it is likely that the comet hit the glacier, which ultimately melted and left no physical sign. Originally published in 1597, William Shakespeare devised a renowned play about two star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. • 23. Comparing Who s For The Game And Dulce Et Decorum Est Comparative Poetry Essay I have chosen to compare Who s for the game? written by Jessie Pope and Dulce Et Decorum Est written by Wilfred Owen. I have decided to choose these two poems since they both represent two different perspectives of war. Jessie Pope writes to encourage men to explain that war is an adventure, that men should experience. On the other hand, Wilfred Owen writes about the horrors he experienced at war. His poem gives a descriptive background of the atrocity men went through during the war. Both poems represent different aspects on whether men should go to war. In Who s for the game , Pope s poem writes to encourage men to partake in the war to give their country a hand. Pope strongly believes that war is a requirement that men should uptake. Pope uses statements such as who ll give their country a hand? to grab the attention of men and to inspire them to join the war. However, Pope never experienced what Wilfred Owen went through during the war. This made her a propagandist when it came to writing Who s for the game? . Pope firmly believed that men should fight at war and if not, she made them feel guilty. Pope did this by writing your country is up to her neck in a fight, And she s looking and calling for you . This put pressure on men to fight. Pope never knew or realised the trauma men went through during the war. It is clear that both poems have been heavily impacted by the poet s life ... • 25. Age Restrictions And Opening Doors By the 1890s public libraries were eliminating age restrictions and opening their doors to children. They shelved collections of children s books in closed stacks with the adult books, or in open shelving within adult reading rooms. Eventually, children in the adult reading room created a nuisance for the adult patrons. At Denver Public LibraryJohn Cotton Dana remarked, for the comfort of the elder reader it is certainly desirable that children not come in large numbers into the part of the library in which the public is given access to the shelves (Kimball, 2014, p. 491). As a solution, libraries began to house their children s collections in separate children s room away from the adults. The term children s room appears in library professional literature in 1890 (McDowell, 2014, p. 523). That same year, the first children s room was opened in Brookline, M.A. under the supervision of the library s janitor (Sayers, 1963, p. 9 10). Stereotypes are used in American Born Chinese to show how stereotypes are used to negatively group people, to depict how others bully those who are different, and are used to show how stereotypes affect those they are directed towards and those around them in a negative way. They teased him about eating dogs (Yang 32 33). This only because Timmy and the teacher assumed the worst of Jin s culture and associated him with it. These kids were bullying Jin because he was different. This happens everywhere from the workplace to the classroom and some people think that it is true so it is okay. In order to make them look and feel superior, the kids bullied Jin and made him feel left out and not worth anything. This also happens today, as people are constantly putting down others at work or in school due to their race, religion, or just by the way they look. Another example of stereotypes being used to show superiority is when Peter Grabinsky taking Jin s sandwich and promising to be his friend if he continued to give his lunch to him (Peter) (Yang 34). Peter then treats Jin as if he is a dog s favorite toy that will soon be forgotten and thrown away. This does happen, as Peter leaves to live with his father and leaves Jin. This example shows how Peter took advantage of the other children s disliking towards Jin due to what he looked like by taking his lunch and abusing him. Both of these show how students of mayflower elementary treat Jin as if he is useless and bully him in order to make them feel special. The kids saw that Jin was different and their brains seemed to associate him with eating dogs and coming from china. • 44. The Heroic and Honorable Knight in The Canterbury Tales ... Knights are one of the most mistaken figures of the medieval era due to fairytales and over exaggerated fiction novels. When medieval knights roamed the earth, it was known that they were only human and, like humans, had faults. These knights did not always live up to the standards designated by society. However, in The Canterbury Tales, the knightis revealed as a character that would now be considered a knight in shining armor, a perfect role model in how he acts and what he does. Modern day people see them as chivalrous figures instead of their actual role as mounted cavalrysoldiers. As time passes, the idea of what a knight is changes from a simple cavalry soldier to a specific type of behavior. Historically, knights were not very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Canterbury Tales, the knight is a modern type of knight. Although the description of this character s personality is vague, it is not hard for modern day people to visualize him. In the prologue, it mentions that the knight follows the five basic ideals that a good knight should possess: chivalry, Truth, honour, generousness, and courtesy (Chaucer 4). The knight fought in the Crusades, wars in which Europeans traveled by sea to non Christian places and tried to convert people s culture by brute force, which was considered noble and brave hearted. From his love of the five basics ideals previously mentioned to his impressive military career, the knight is a perfect example of how a knight should be represented. Indirectly, the tale is discussing both the knight and the idea of how a knight should be. The tale does not describe much about the knight as in physical appearances and characteristics of this knight but as the tale comes to an end, the book starts to unfold how this story connects with this character. The tale itself is not important yet it s what the tale represents that is important, such as pursuing courtly love, risking death, and respecting women. All of the previously mentioned attributes are ones that knights should possess to achieve expected standards. A knight s characteristics are usually described by using power and authority but, in actuality, the knight is just a servant to a higher authority. An ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Note that in the special journals, if the account name selected for a transaction corresponds to the heading of one of the columns in that special journal, the post ref is to be recorded as an X. This is because these transactions are not posted on a daily basis. In order to receive full marks, you must record only the letter X in the Post Ref. column for these transactions. • 49. Abortions Should Not Be Made On Immoral Actions [1]Our world has an immense collection of advanced technologies, but it is a shame that many use it for immoral actions. Such technology has given mankind the power to produce desired children from a cellular level, but at the same time offer families the freedom to abort the unwanted. In his article, Rajendra Kale (2012) argues that healthcare professionals should not inform parents the sex of the unborn until 30 weeks of pregnancyto avoid termination. In another article, Margaret Little (2005) reasons that abortions are merely the demise of fetuses, and not the violation of rights to live. Although the two present themselves in different ways, it can be assumed that Little would ultimately support Kale s assessments. Perhaps the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, Kale argues that many feticides are prevailing due to the mere fact that the fetus is a female. He believes that many families use gender balance among their children as a decent reason to allow female feticide (2012). This is clearly not a decent enough reason; it is discrimination and an excuse to kill an undesired sex. Little also supports this argument. She uses an analogy that a girl should not end her pregnancy for the fact that she just wants to fit into a party dress as an adequate reason(2005). To do so, is just a blind act of defiancey. There are many more prejudiced reasons around the world that families use to opt for termination. Both Kale and Little would agree that such filial reasons should not be used to extinguish a fetal life. Next, Kale argues that women face emotional and physical trauma due to family pressures. Many societies pressure woman to abort their kin against their will. Kale believes that his 30 week policy would put an end to such practices, even if temporarily. The reason for this claim is because without the knowledge of the fetus s sex, families are forced to continue the pregnancy. Little accounts several situations where women faced trauma due to pregnancy: her sister s morning sickness, her friend s pregnancy psychosis, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Female Infanticide and Foeticide Essay Female Infanticide and Foeticide It is regrettable that female infanticide and foeticide are rapidly decreasing the female population throughout India. The main factors that is responsible for the increase in the incidence of female infanticide and foeticide is the low status of women, son preference, and the practice of dowry across all casts groups. The low status of women and girls is due to cultural beliefs and the material cost they represent to their families. Vanaja Dhruvarajan says that there is a belief regarding the nature of men and women: Men are ritually pure, physically strong, and emotionally mature; women, on the other hand, are ritually pollutable, physically weak, and lack strong willpower (30). Because of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall, girls get poorer education than boys, and become less aware of the world around them. Therefore, they become dependent on men, whether it is the father, the husband or the son. The preference for male children is due to three major reasons. One is the economic value of having sons. Sons are more likely than daughters to provide family labour on the farm or in a family business, earn wages, and support their parents during old age. Upon marriage, a son brings a daughter in law into his family, and she provides additional help around the house as well as she brings riches in the form of dowry payments. Another important advantage of having sons is their social cultural utility. In India patriarchal family system, having one son is essential for the continuation of the family line, and many sons provide high status to the family. Vanaja Dhruvarajan says, When a women becomes a mother, especially the mother of a son, her status goes up in her new home for having helped perpetuate the family (87) Finally, the utility of having sons comes from the important religious functions that only sons can provide. In Hindu tradition, sons are needed to do the funeral of their deceased parents and to help in the salvation of their souls. Daughters are considered to be an economic problem to her parents mainly because of the heavy dowry payment demanded by the groom s family, as well as the high cost of the wedding, ... • 51. The Passage Of Time Affects The Memory Of The Holocaust The passage of time affects our memories of the past by the memory content that we experience in life which shows us that the more changing experiences we have, the longer subjective duration lasts for. The bigger and more intense memories have a greater impact on the memories that we tend to hold on to and remember for lifetime. For example, a weekend spent at home doing our usual routines passes very quickly. In contrast, a weekend when we travel to a new destination with a friend lasts much longer or like in novels that we have read when the Nazi regime took over Europe and cause 60 million people to lose their lives. By stating this, I understand that we can recall many different, new, and catastrophic events. This memory load expands over time. Also, if we look into Maus when Vladek was once a wealthy man before the war, is brought to having to garner and reserve even the smallest of items, such as the wrapper from cheese, or the cigarettes from his rations. These items took on a huge importance to Vladek, and even years later, he feels unable to dispose them cause of what he had to go through. Vladek also has had a tough time asking for help doing daily chores around the house because of how his skills and determination proved his survival during the Holocaust. The way these types of memories help us today by remembering the color and tint of them is quite simple. We achieve this by learning from our past experiences, good or bad, and understanding the way people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
