Not so long ago, there was a time that men s dominance and superiority over women was the social
norm. Men were the accepted authorities in any relationship and held all the say. In the two stories, The
Yellow Wallpaper , and Desiree s Baby , the female protagonists are portrayed as weak characters who
are heavily dependent on their husbands for everything. Without the men in their lives, the women
would be essentially helpless. But the authors of these two stores were nothing like their characters.
They were both strong willed women who had a voice of their own and wanted to make sure it was
heard. Thus, both authors used these stories to give feminism a voice.
Feminism was a concept birthed and bred during the Progressive Era, and time when women s suffrage
was at its peak. Women had gained the right to own property, own businesses, and some women even
began working outside the home. Both stories, Desiree s Baby and The Yellow Wallpaper were written
in the early 1890s, during this pinnacle time in women s right.
The authors of both stories wrote their stories, either accidentally or on purpose, with the undertones of
feminism, hoping to expose the unequal treatment and expectations of females to males. Both stories
challenged the stereotypical roles of females, and in both, the females ended up being the one in power
of their own destinies and overcame the rule of their dominant male counterpart.

The 1904 1905 war between Tsarists Russia and the Empire of Japan pitted a newly developed modern

Society should be socially acceptable to all members of it no matter where they works, how much
money they have, or don t have, the color of their skin, there sexual orientation, where the
geographically live, etc. when it comes to topic of this nature, most people are very hesitant and don t
want to talk about it. Is it because they know that there are problems that need to be fixed, or because

It is almost time , my big sister said as we count down the days for prom. Prom was the only event I was
looking forward to during my senior year. The thought of dressing and dancing with friends excited me.

And it is because we are taught this common sense, that rural individuals of all ages are often some of
the best people to be around. Because they understand how things work, and that what goes around
comes around. This ties directly with the down to earth perspective that rural Kansas offers.
Just exactly what is a down to earth perspective? A layman definition of a down to earth perspective is
seeing the world as it really is. You do not need to embellish it, or pretend that the world is something
that it is not. With a down to earth perspective you see the world, and in it, you see truth. It is a second
instinct of most Kanasans to develope a down to earth perspective, because there is earth all around us.
Farmers work in and with the earth to reap a bountiful harvest. Because of this, they have a realistic
perspective on the world, and see how nature works firsthand. This ripples out to those around them.
Rural Kansas is a farming community, and life lessons that they reap along with their harvest, stretch out

Chivalry is the code of conduct that was followed by knights all around in the Dark Ages. It was used to
show honor and was built upon the foundation of righteousness, to protect the weak and to give to the
poor respect those of high authority as well as those who were not in high authority positions were held
in high esteem of those who followed Chivalric ideals. Most people did not live up to the code fully, but
that did not stop people from following it to its fullest. It was highly influential to people because of its
religious and courteous ideals that affected not only people at home, but also on the battlefield. Chivalry

Globalization Learning Journal 2 Throughout this section of the class, the IMF and the World Bank have
been studied extensively. All students have come away with different ideas about these two
organizations. In the following paragraphs, I will attempt to explain my own thoughts on the IMF and
the World Bank. Mainly, that their practices are insufficient for accountability and do threaten the
sovereignty of certain nations. I will also attempt to explain why I think this is the case. The first item of
importance, however, is to go through what the goals and criticisms are of these two organizations. The

From what I noticed in this poem, I read it as the man in the poem is not happy about winter and the
snow with cold weather. When the man says Snow on the flowery almond tree I read that as the man
saying that the snow is covering up all the good stuff on Earth. With Snow on the snow I read that as
more snow is covering up the good things on Earth. The same thing applies to whern he says It is like
flowering almond tree under the snow about how the snow is covering up all of the good things in the
world. It s too cold this afternoon in the world is saying that that afternoon almost all of the good things
in the world are all completely covered in snow and that no one is able to see then and experience them.
When the man says But I open the door to my dog and he comes into the warmth this shows him as
saving his dog from the cold and allowing his dog to to enter warmth with the rest of humanity.The
