Prenatal Care For Young Women Essay
Prenatal Care for Young Women
Most young mothers are worried about a number of new changes that will impact them socially,
physically and emotionally. Prenatal care can be neglected due to an unexpected pregnancy, not being
educated on what to do, or not having resources to get care. Prenatal care is very important to a child s
early development. Prenatal care can mean several things like cutting back on caffeine and stopping
smoking. It can also mean soon after conception beginning to care for yourself and the baby as well as
starting to schedule regular checkups with a doctor.
Healthy People 2020 wants to help mothers, infants and children achieve optimal preconception
health, and interconception health. The main goal is reducing the infant mortality rate and preterm
births. In order to achieve this, it is important that mothers are educated on how to take care of their
body and their growing baby. Preconception (before pregnancy) and interconception (between
pregnancies) care provide an opportunity to identify existing health risks and to prevent health
problems for women and their children. These problems include heart disease, diabetes, genetic
conditions, sexually transmitted diseases and unhealthy weight (Office of Disease Prevention and
Health Promotion, 2016). According to the CDC (2016), teen pregnancy in the United States is not as
large of a problem as it had been between 1990 and 2008. Teen pregnancy is isolated in females ages

Opening a Nightclub for the Over 21 Crowd
Introduction The purpose of this project was to determine the feasibility of opening up a nightclub that
caters to people over 21 years old. This nightclub is of interest to the author because she is very
passionate about it and this type of business had always been the author s dream. This chapter will
discuss the relevant literature related to a) Customer service, b) License for restaurants and bars, and
c) Types of entertainment.
Review of Literature
Customer service The author knows that a business will not succeed if the employees do not give the
customers a quality customer service. Customers are most likely to come back to a place where they
feel welcome, where they feel like they are being well treated. ... Show more content on

License for restaurants and bars The author plans on opening up a nightclub, there are many different
types of licenses that the author needs to get in order to open the nightclub. Since it is a nightclub the
author will need a liquor license, entertainment license, dance license, extended hours license and
many others. The author wants to sell alcohol, to have live concerts, to let people dance, to stay
opened after 2 a.m. and other things. According to Jamie Zawinski, there are permits for almost
everything the author wants to have in her business.
Types of entertainment
Nightclubs
1920 s According to Stuart Moss (2010), the first nightclubs started in the 1920 s. 1920 s was the time
post World War I, the nation was strong and business was booming. (Nightlife) During that time
selling alcohol was illegal and people were not accepting that new rule, therefore the name
speakeasies was invented. Speakeasies is the name for places that used to sell illegal alcoholic
beverages and some speakeasies were like clubs now a day, where people drink and dance. (Jen and
Ceyana, 2010)
1970 s
During the 1970 s, there were more types of entertainment than the 1920 s. There were bars, key
holder clubs, lounges and ballrooms, rock clubs, and disco. Bars were a place where single people
would go to find a partner; therefore the bar would be called the singles bar . Key

A Memorable Moment In My Life
I remember this tragedy like it was this morning. My aunt was out of town, so I was staying with my
first cousin Andrew. I woke up fairly early for a weekend and had a cup of the best dark roast from
Starbucks in my pink and white polka dot coffee cup, along with 2 tablespoons of rich french vanilla
creamer. With my coffee, I went to go sit outside to listen to the bird s chirp, get a bit of fresh air and
clear my head for the long day ahead of me. In my cousin s backyard, they have a tall fogged glass
patio set, sitting upon the rustic wood patio. Sitting in the backyard made me feel as though it was just
me and nature herself, so put together, beautiful and calm. It was black Friday and my cousin and I
were going to head to my house for our families traditional pierogi making after breakfast. My mother
As well as other family members were already waiting there for our arrival. We got into the car and
rolled down the windows and started to play our favorite music. Once we got into the car we were
sitting there for a moment just on our phones and having a casual conversation. My cousin had
mentioned his friend getting into a car accident the month before, and we were positive that we were
going to be okay because he was a safe driver, and wanted to get both of us there safely. Andrew soon
started to drive on the way to my house, and the gas light turned on. My cousin pulled to the nearest
gas station. As we pulled in I got chills all the way from the bottom of my feet

Bridget Besaw Environmental Issues
Environmental documentarian, Bridget Besaw, combines both photography and film to advocate
wilderness preservation and food sustainability. She creates visual stories that serve as a rousting, yet
romantic reminder of our collective instinct to care for the planet (Besaw, 2015). Besaw s photography
captures a range of environmental issues from threats to Maine s wilderness, loss of working farmland
in New England, restoration of crucial salmon habitat in the North Pacific, wilderness preservation in
South America, and sustainable fisheries initiatives throughout the world (Besaw, 2015). Besaw uses
photography so others get a closer understanding of and relationship to their own bodies and the

Batman Monologue
See I m not a monster...I m just ahead of the curve . After giving Batman a monologue about how
Gotham City will eventually betray him, the psychotic Joker tells him how he knows this will happen.
This one quote, from my favorite movie (The Dark Knight), has changed my outlook on life and its
shape as a whole. Normally, it wouldn t be the best idea to gain inspiration from perhaps the most
notorious fictional villain in history, but this quote, in particular, has a much deeper meaning than
shallow self validation.
To fully understand the quote, the context must first be understood. The Joker s elaborate plan to cause
chaos in Gotham City involves getting caught by police, interrogated by Batman, and then
subsequently blowing up the station. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I took 7 weighted classes, something that had never been done before in our school s history, believing
that I could easily handle it. The first week of the semester proved that I could not handle it. I was
getting no sleep, failing my first tests, and my AP Literature teacher even asked me if she should talk
to my counselor about reducing my courseload. Of course, I declined. The same stress (albeit a lot
less) was there for everyone. Junior year of high school is a killer, from much harder classes to SAT
prep and an increased number of AP tests academically to prom and sports socially. The vast majority
of students at my high school dealt with this stress one way: drugs. My friends were no exception. I
did not succumb, my parents instilled better values in me. So instead, I put my head down and
worked, using other stress relievers to ensure that I didn t kill myself. I partied (sober), hung out with
my girlfriend, watched sports, and chilled with my friends whenever they weren t on drugs. I tried
convincing them out of drugs, but they didn t listen. That s when I realized the second truth that
everyone believed what they were doing was right, just like the Joker did. The Joker believed he was
ridding Gotham City of its filth (politicians and police), and my friends believed they were doing what
they needed to do to stay alive, after all, they needed to cope with pressure from their parents and
peers academically, pressure socially, and pressure athletically. I did not agree, but I understood that
they needed drugs, otherwise they would get withdrawals and fail school (this happened one week and

Pyrophobi Irrational Fear Of Fire
Pyrophobia
Do you know what pyrophobia is? Well a pyrophobia is an irrational fear of fire (Wikipedia.com).
Pyrophobia is one of the many phobias there are. It has serval causes and is accompanied by severe
symptoms, however there is treatment available for the condition.
Firstly, there are many causes of pyrophobia. The first cause of this phobia is a house fire. Being in a
house fire can cause people to be traumatic because they lose their house, personal items, and even
family members. The people that go through that has a very hard time recovering. They have to find
the money to buy or rent another house, buy other clothes, and maybe even plan funerals for their
loved ones. Another cause of pyrophobia is getting caught on fire. When

Six Core Values Of The NASW Code Of Ethics
Classical organizational theories: As a group, we do not feel that the classical organizational theory
complies with the six core values of the NASW code of ethics. We did not feel that the classical
organization theory provided any help, support, or benefits to help the members reach their maximum
potentials, other than those who are already at the top. We also felt that this theory did not provide
equal rights, protection, or social benefits as a part of the social justice perspective of the core values.
Where the power and resources rest at the top of the agencies who utilize this theory, we feel that
those at the bottom are not held in high esteem, valued, or appreciated. We also feel that the

The Influence of Jerry Garcia on American History
The Influence of Jerry Garcia on American History The vocalist and guitarist of the Grateful Dead,
Jerry Garcia was one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century, impacting both the
musical and cultural realms. Jerry Garcia was fated to become one of America s most influential
people ever since he was born into Jose Garcia s household. During his childhood, Jerry Garcia lived
in an environment that fueled his musical development and experienced many events that pushed him
closer changing the path of American music and culture. Jerry Garcia was a member of the American
1960 s counterculture and really embodied the ideals and goals of the group as a whole. Thanks to the

Jerry was not only interested in musical arts but he also drew and painted often and enrolled in the San
Francisco Art Institute to study and practice the visual arts. For his fifteenth birthday, Jerry Garcia
received an electric guitar, his favorite instrument so far; by this time, Jerry was already playing the
banjo and the piano. Soon after, Jerry joined his first band, the Chords, solidifying his destiny as a
musician. Jerry Garcia s most obvious influences deal with music and the modern pop music band s
role. He has changed the way music is produced, the way music relates to its listeners, and how the
band interacts with its fans. Jerry Garcia was the renaissance man of the 1960 s singing, writing, and
playing many instruments including the acoustic, bass, and electric guitars, the banjo, and the piano,
which was a revolutionary idea for the time. He and the Grateful Dead worked to successfully enable
the elimination of a record company in the music world. Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead all
worked together blending different musical genres to create new styles of music that will continue into
modern day. Jerry Garcia is largely responsible for the revolution in the identity of the music artist, for
the increase in popularity of the live album, for the divergence of many musicians from record
companies, and for the changes in bands touring style and interaction with their

The Great Purge And Was A Social Policy Of Stalin
Stalin is a name everyone probably has heard at some point, most likely in a history class that you
have long forgotten now. However people tend to not know that during his time as Premier of the
Soviet Union he killed more people than Hitler did. This could have been through his policies or his
Five year plans. Joseph Stalin ruled the Soviet Union from 1929 to 1953 when he died. In that 24 year
span he killed an estimated 50 million people (Haines) and this doesn t include the lives lost in WW2.
For some reason, it something that we do not learn in history; it is excluded from our history books.
This is called the Great Purge and was a social policy of Stalin, he was collecting Jewish people
though he was after opponents to his regime. Between 1934 and 1939 stalin set in a motion to have
about ⅓ of the three million communist officials purged (Freedland). These people were either sent to
a work camp or a gulag, put on trial where they were forced to plead guilty, or they were just
executed. This was a policy of his that would secure his place in the communist party, he even went as
far to have pictures of himself edited so that he wasn t in them with certain people. Stalin also sent his
son, Yakov Dzhugashvili, to the eastern front hoping he would die. He did this because Yakov was an
active opponent of his father (Evans). When he was captured the Nazi s tried ransoming him back, to
which stalin said to kill him; which is what happened. Having purged the party he could

Chronic Illness Secrets
12 Secrets to Living Well With a Chronic Illness
If you ve been diagnosed with a chronic illness, it might be difficult to imagine living well ever again.
After all, your life has been turned upside down, and you now have chronic pain on a regular basis.
How does anyone live well that way?
You wouldn t be the first person to ask this question. Although it seems like an impossibility, you can
live well with chronic illness. It s important to remember that yes, your body, your strength, and even
your emotions have changed, but, at the core, you still have the same potential you were born with.
Now you just have to steer that passion in another direction.

Sometimes, you may feel well enough to do these things. Other times, not so much.
Acknowledging your limitations doesn t take away your power. In fact, it gives you the insight you
need to prioritize what s important.
2. Celebrate Your Strengths
This is such an important one. Once you know which activities and situations cause you physical and
mental strain, start looking inward for strengths you may have forgotten all about once you got into
adult life .
What did you want to be when you grew up? A counselor? A writer? An artist? Are you good at
making jewelry? Are you a nurturing and compassionate person by nature?
Our society makes it difficult to see beyond the workplace to find success and fulfillment in life. The
truth is, it really isn t the job you do or the career you have that makes you who you are. It s the
inward drive that drew you toward a particular career in the first place.
Write a list of your 10 best strengths. It could be anything from being good at telling jokes, being a
good listener, writing, painting, gardening, or taking care of animals.

Misdemeanor Research Paper
There are different levels of criminal offenses that you can be charged with. Here is a quick guide to
the different levels of criminal offense that one could be charged with. #1 Ordinances The first and
lowest level of criminal charge that you can face is an ordinance. Every city, state and township has its
own specific laws that they enforce and in legal terms these laws are referred to as ordinances.
Generally, a financial penalty is associated with most ordinance violations and they do not go on your
formal criminal record. One rarely needs an attorney to fight against an ordinance charge. #2
Infraction The second level of criminal charges that you can face are infractions. Many infractions are
considered civil matters and are not considered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The consequences associated with a misdemeanor are generally more serious than those associated
with either an infraction or an ordinance violation. If you plead guilty to a misdemeanor, there is a
good chance you could be sentences to a short stint in your local county jail and face probation
afterwards. A misdemeanor will go on your criminal record, which means that you will face the
consequences of a guilty plea long after you have served your time or paid a fine. If any employers or
rental agencies run a background check on your, your misdemeanor will most likely show up and
could compromise future jobs and housing prospects. #4 Felonies The fourth and most serious type of
criminal charge that you can face is a felony. A felony conviction almost guarantees that you will
spend time in either a state or federal prison, depending on whether the state or federal government
brought the charges against you. A felony conviction should always show up on any background
checks employers and housing agencies run against you in the future and if you fill out an application
and are asked if you have a felony conviction, you will need to check yes. Depending on the state you
live in, you may no longer be able to vote if you have a felony conviction. If you have children, a
felony conviction could hurt your ability to gain custody of

People Hating People throughout History
People who put principles before people are people who hate people. They don t much care about how
well it works, just about how right it is ... they may even like it better if it inflicts enough pain (John
Barnes). People do not think too much of how their actions affect other human beings. They think
making others feel less than who they are is completely ok, even with the level of National Security. It
is not ok whatsoever. Instead of dehumanizing people and making them feel worthless and like
animals National Security, and other humans, should treat people equally and not like objects, make
them feel comfortable and not take away their rights because we are all human and all equal. Although
people feel as though they can just take away a person s rights and identity because they feel they are
more superior and important, they have no right to. The three veterans, with needles in their hands,
engraved a number on our left arms. I became A7713. After that I had no other name. (Wiesel 39).
Wiesel is talking about how his identity was just taken away from him. And how it was so easy to just
become a number, and nothing but a number, so quickly. He had no other identity other than the one
given to him when his original name was taken away from him. As a result, Mr. Wiesel and many
other humans have and are being stripped of their identity and becoming, or have become, nothing but
a number and an object. There are eighty of you in this wagon, added the German officer.

The Trouble With Wilderness By Cronon
People in the US have assigned many different meanings to wilderness. Wilderness can be viewed as a
nonhuman world where we can go to survive and escape reality. Wilderness is an unexplored land that
can mean something entirely different for every individual. For many Americans, wilderness stands as
the last remaining place where we can go and have fun. In America today, people go to the wild, to
party and enjoy their weekend. I ve come to realize that everyone s perspective of wilderness comes
from media, stories and their personal experiences. As people have given meaning to wilderness, I
also have given wilderness a different meaning. Wilderness can be viewed as a place of escape where
we can go and run away from our problems. I see wilderness ... Show more content on

There are two views: one that it is a solution to our problematic relationships while others reason that
it s a place where we can go insane. Wilderness in fact has been seen as a place of youth and
childhood, in which we can abandon our past. In William s Cronon article, The Trouble with
Wilderness he talks about how we escape to the wilderness to forget our past. Cronon states, Seen as
the bold landscape of frontier heroism, it is the place of youth and childhood, into which men escape
by abandoning their pasts and entering a world of freedom where the constraints of civilization fade
into memory (Cronon 427). This quote is a great representation of how we can see wilderness as a
place of escape because we enter a world of freedom that fade away our problems. The wild is
important to have because it s the last remaining place where we can turn to escape from our own too
muchness. When we enter the wild we are free with no customs to follow. The wild allows us to be
less responsible and free to venture away from society. This quote has a great connection with my
perspective because it s saying that it s a place of renewal, relaxation and peace. Therefore, wilderness
is a place of refuge. No matter in what perspective we see it, wilderness offers us a refuge that we can
use to escape the cares and troubles of the world, in which our past has trapped us

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome Report
The name of the disease that I have selected to write this disease paper about is acute respiratory
distress syndrome. Acute respiratory distress syndrome according to our text book Respiratory Care
Principles and Practice by Dean Hess states that acute respiratory distress syndrome is characterized
by the abrupt onset of respiratory distress; associated with severe hypoxemia and diffuse pulmonary
opacities on chest radio graph that are not caused by congestive heart failure or volume over load;
Pao2 200 MMHG. (Hess, 1287). Acute respiratory distress syndrome is respiratory insufficiency
marked by progressive hypoxemia due to severe inflammatory damage causing abnormal permeability
of the alveolocapillary membrane. The alveoli fill with fluid, which interferes with gas exchange.
ETIOLOGY according to Taber s medical dictionary, acute respiratory distress syndrome can typically
be a result of or from trauma to the lungs for example in situations like near drowning, aspiration of
gastric acids, and severe lung infection or systemic disorder. Shock, septicemia, disseminated
intravascular coagulation, cardiopulmonary bypass or reaction to blood transfusions. Widespread
damage to the alveolocapillary membranes is initiated through the aggregation and activity of
neutrophils and macrophages and the activation of complement. Cytokines, oxygen free radicals, and
other inflammatory mediators damage the walls of capillaries and alveoli, producing diffuse
inflammatory interstitial

GE is committed to focusing on long term opportunities. The company has a philosophy of only

Social Stereotypes In Zootopia
Quote: Because he s a sloth he can t be fast
This quote is a great example of a stereotype. Judy made an incorrect statement about a sloth just
because of what type of animal he was. This statement was later proven not true, as the sloth was
speeding throughout the streets of Zootopia.
Concepts
Stereotypes: Generalized (sometimes accurate but often overgeneralized) beliefs about a group of
people. Throughout the movie, there are a lot of stereotypes evident. The main one is that predators
are bad, and prey is good. Many believed in the movie that the predators could not be trusted after all
the attacks that were happening, but that was not true. The rare cases of a predator going savage was
due to toxic flowers.
Discrimination: Unjustifiable negative behavior toward a group or its members. In Zootopia, an act of
discrimination is seen in a flashback when Nick Wilde is joining the Ranger Scouts. In this scene, the
members of the scouts put a muzzle on him just because he is a fox and They cannot trust a fox .
Situational Attribution: Believing the cause of a behavior is based on the person s situation, not their
attitude. An example of this in the movie was when Judy found out the reason for predators going
savage was due to the flowers, not due to their attitudes or genetics.
Dispositional Attribution: Believing that the cause of a behavior is based on the person s attitude, not
situation. In the scene where Nick Wilde was trying to buy a popsicle for his son , Judy assumed that
he was a great father. However, he was just trying to hustle her out of a free popsicle to sell later.
Conformity: Adjusting one s behavior or thinking to coincide with a group standard. In the movie,
when Judy said that she though that the predator s attacks were due to genetics, everyone conformed
to this idea. The prey started to separate themselves from the prey and conform to this idea.
Normative Social Influence: Influence resulting from a person s desire to gain approval or
disapproval. In the movie, Judy Hopps works extra hard while on parking duty to get approval from
Chief Bogo and get more interesting cases.
Deindividuation: The loss of self awareness and self restraint occurring in group situations that foster

Governments Should Spend Money on Improving Public...
Governments Should Spend Money On Improving Public Transportation Many people in the world
want their countries to be developed, and they want to have a good quality of life. Also, they want
their countries to have strong potential economy to compete with other nations. As a result, it is
necessary for the government to work on improving facilities which are the basic foundation of life. In
my opinion, governments should spend more money on improving public transportation, such as
buses, subways, and trains instead of working on the construction of new roads and highways for
several reasons. The first reason is to encourage people to use public transportation. Right now, many
people feel that using public transportation, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Even though we have many kinds of transportation, such as buses, express trains, subways, and boats,

Taking a closer read at Haroun and the Sea of Stories
1. Identify explain 5 symbols found in text.
Although Haroun and the sea of stories is a children s literature, symbols which overlap as archetypes
are used to make this novel contain a deeper meaning and be just as enjoyable for adults.
Weather in this story symbolizes the current feeling or emotion of the characters. Dull, gloomy days
often occurred when the character is depressed: this sudden mist positively stank of sadness and
gloom (47). This symbol is clearly evident when Haroun traveled to Moody land, the sun would shine
all night is there were enough joyful people around, and it would go on shining until the endless
sunshine got on their nerves; then an irritable night would fall a night full of mutterings and
discontent, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example is the June 9th, 1985 student demonstration at Tian An Men square in China. The
government attempted to stop the media from exposing this event to the public; they also attempted to
wipe out any written records of this afterwards. This is similar to how certain Chupwalas in Haroun
stitched their mouths, or vowed to remain silent under the orders of Khattam Shud who tried to stop
the relay of information in his kingdom so to speak.
3. Detail 3 instances in the text where the power of story is alluded to. Explain
The power of story is often referred to in this novel. For example, on page 72, the stories were held
here in fluid form, they retained the ability to change, to become new versions of themselves, to join
up with other stories and so become yet other stories...It was not dead but alive. This means that there
are many variations to one idea or one story. Old tales combined with imagination can be made into
new pieces of work. no story comes from nowhere; new stories are born from old it is the new
combinations that make them new. (86) There is an endless possibility and no limitations on what the
story is about because new ones can always be made.
Whether it s the adventure or the escape from reality that stories provide, or that fact that it takes your
mind away from tension, some people, and personally I believe that stories have the ability to relieve
stress. The power of story is implied in Haroun: you can offer [Story

The Chicano Voice In Bless Me Ultima
Bless Me, Ultima, is a novel that may be understood to bridge several different cultural registers.
Commentators argue that one of the most significant aspects of the book, and of its historical
influence, is its ability to communicate a uniquely Chicano experience at a formative point in world
history. A crucial element of this aspect of the novel comes in its ability to mobilize particular myths
within its structure. Not only do these myths appear to play a crucial role within the action of the
novel itself, but they also contribute significantly to the uniqueness of the Chicano voice as it is
developed in the book. In this sense, myth is integral to both the action and the texture of the novel as
a whole. However, myth does not simply provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kanoza writes therefore that it is when Anaya s protagonist comes to comprehend the kinship of the
golden carp and Christ and he realizes the obvious that as the offspring of his mismatched parents he
is living proof that opposites can integrate (Kenzo, 166). In this sense the myth of the golden carp
serves simultaneously to embody and also eventually to overcome the contradictions within the novel
as a whole. The capacity of myth to provide the ground for reconciliation is made clear in the final
passages of the novel, in which Anaya s protagonist reflects on his capacity to use the story of the
golden carp as one element of new religion. This religion would be that is capable of containing but
also of potentially sublimating religions that have come before it. One reads him asking himself
asking whether not take the llano and the river valley, the moon and the sea, God and the golden carp
and make something new and coming to the conclusion that that is what Ultima meant by building
strength from life (Anyata, 1994, 248). The most important realization of the novel is that
contradictions may be overcome through an interaction with the myths of the past, but only in the
sense that such an interaction enables a synthesis from which something new may emerge. It is the
realization of the capacity for this synthesis which marks out the most important aspect of Antonio s
self knowledge at the end of the

Representative Bill 610
The U.S. House of Representative Bill 610 is sponsored by Representative Steve King and the House
committee is Education and the Workforce. This bill was put into place for distributing Federal funds
for elementary and secondary education in the form of vouchers for eligible students and to repeal a
certain rule relating to nutrition standards in schools (Smith.) The significance behind putting this bill
into place is to provide a better way of education an to get rid of the waste we currently have in our
eduational system. The U.S. House of Representatives should not pass Bill 610 because it detroys
many basic American rights set in the Constitution, cuts all special classes and other educational
funding, and cuts free/reduced lunches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are may acts that have been set in place to protect these classes such as Individuals with
Disabilities Education Act, Free Appropriate Public Education, Elementary and Secondary Education
Act, and the Every Student Succeeds Act. These were also set in place to provide equal opportunity
for every child to be successful with their education. The House of Representative Bill 610 does not
mention helping any of these acts in the further process of moving forward with this action. This
means that all Advanced Placement classes, ESL/ELL classes, classes for students with some type of
learning disability, classes for students who live in difficult situations, and school safety classes will
be cut (Barron.) This will hurt many different students with trying to further their education and to get
the proper education needs they deserve. Another major thing being cut is the proper educational
funding we get now. May not be much, but it is certainly better than the nothing we could be facing in
the future. This means that states must agree to distribute the federal funding in any public, private, or
homeschool (Barron.) It may seem like a great idea until everyboy has to pay a ridiculous amount of
money to send their child to a public/pivate school or to homeschool them. This is not a great thing for
the homeschool families because they teach at home with one teacher (usually) so it makes no sense to
have them pay a lot of money to have their kids be taught at

Compare And Contrast The Book Of Hours
A book of hours was a Christian pray book, most popular in the 15th century. Books of hours were the
most common form of illuminated manuscripts seen coming out of the medieval period. They were
not for monks or university libraries but for ordinary people. They are small and usually prettily
decorated books. They were intended to be held in the hand and admired for their delicate illumination
rather than be put on a library shelf. Books of Hours were commonly found in medieval households
and used as a way to teach literary skills and religion. Each book of hours was unique, while some are
less extravagant than others they similarly contained Christian texts, prayers, psalms, and told about
saints. In most books of hours each page celebrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Leaf from The Tarleton Hours verso: St. Philip and St. James facing each other was constructed in
Normandy, France in 1430. At this time France was deeply involved in the Hundred Years war, and the
English occupied Normandy. During the British occupation in the Hundreds Years War, hundreds of
Normans died. Books of Hours allowed a relief from fear, and their owners to be closer to religion,
through the psalms and art that was contained inside them and the devotional imagery they evoked,
which was an important aspect of life in the 15th century. The pattern in similarities and differences
among Books of Hours emerged because Books of Hours were so common among households in the
fifteenth century. The Leaf from The Tarleton Hours verso: St. Philip and St. James facing each other
being in a Book of Hours with multiple artist was unusual. However, there were other artists
illustrating one book of hours together. For example, the Limbourg Brothers would often alternate
working on pages so each of them would have worked on every page of the book by the time it
reached its commissioner. The Limbourg Brothers influenced other artists in the regions they worked
in. One such Master was the Master of Catherine of Cleves. The Master of Catherine of Cleves often

The Marshmallow Test, By Walter Mischel
Walter Mischel and his students devised and implemented the The preschool self imposed delay of
immediate gratification for the sake of delayed but more valued rewards paradigm, at Stanford
University in the 1960s. Today it is commonly named The Marshmallow Test , which was designed to
show how and when preschoolers could exhibit self restraint when waiting for two marshmallows,
instead of eating one without waiting. It turned out to be a predictor of success later in life, according
to Mischel (11). The children able to resist the temptation, had higher SAT scores, lower body weight,
less addictive behavior, and were overall more contented with their lives. A few critics doubt the
validity of the test results, as the studies were done on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If waiting for them to return is too difficult, a bell can be rung to summon the person back, and still
the participant can have a marshmallow just for trying. What a task that must be for a young child,
especially since the experimenters would leave for over ten minutes at a time. Marshmallows are so
tempting, and either way you get at least one marshmallow (Mischel 17). Many children passed the
test, and waited for an experimenter to return to claim both marshmallows. Others couldn t stand the
temptation, and either gobbled their treat as soon as the adult left the room, or rang the bell for the
adult to return. According to Joachim de Posada, a TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) Talk
presenter, those who waited, already at 4 understood the most important principle for success, which is
the ability to delay gratification self discipline (Bourne). Obviously, being able to work towards a
reward in the future, will help people in their lives. To be able to maintain a healthy weight by not
eating everything offered to you, studying to further a career, waiting to meet the right someone,
instead of settling for the someone right now, not spending your paycheck on unneeded material
possessions, will inevitably lead to having a more successful life. Jumping at any opportunity a person

Adr In Family Law Case Analysis
Critically analyse whether ADR methods such as mediation offer a better forum for resolving family
law disputes than the courts, thus providing greater access to justice:
Alternative Dispute Resolution has become one of the most central and significant changes to the
family law system since the 1980 s with the emergence of mediation as an alternative form of
achieving justice. The main form of ADR used in family law is family mediation, and is now known
in Australia as family dispute resolution (FDR). The concept was first introduced as a means to reduce
conflict, improve communication and co parental cooperation, produce better agreements in less time
and expense and lead to more compliance with agreements (Kelly 1996 373). Since the first ... Show

Only 1.5% of ATSI families use the FDR services. The AIFS evaluation of 2006 family law reforms
has shown that many practitioners lack the confidence when engaging with CALD and Indigenous
families. There are specific barriers to ATSI and CALD families such as s in the poor delivery of
culturally specific or appropriate services by providers and the lack of trust in mediation services.
Furthermore CALD face many communication barriers and culturally differences. There is clearly
greater need for family dispute practitioners to address issues of cultural competency. The NADRAC
2009 has suggested that culturally appropriate practices are essential to better engage with the local
CALD and ATSI populations. Culturally reflexive practices may help enhance the responsiveness to
cultural contexts of families in dispute resolution. Furthermore employing FDR practitioners, who
speak the languages of the CALD communities in the local area, may also help to increase the cultural
competency of staff and increase the barriers faced by CALD

The Empire And The Persian Empire Essay
Throughout history many civilizations have risen and fallen without so much of a second thought from
historians. However there have been civilizations that climbed to the top of the metaphorical food
chain and stayed there and influenced not only their region but the world for countless millennium
even after they were no longer a functioning empire. Two such empires were the Roman Empire and
the Persian Empire. The first factor to consider when thinking of successful empires would be
geographical location. The second factor would have to be the leadership, and the third would have to
be the method in which the empire expands. All of these factors are what makes a small civilization
with great potential a formidable empire that lasts longer than a lifetime. The best place to the start has
been and will always be the beginning. The beginning in this case is the earth, the geographical
qualities that a land holds can do wonders for the way a civilization not only defends themselves but
how they develop agriculturally and socially. A geographical location that is open and allows trades
with neighboring societies can promote a sense of community that leads to less fighting and more
diplomatic solutions, while a more isolated society may believe that other civilizations can only be
destroyed, conquered, and their people sold into slavery. These are very extreme points of view;
however, we have seen these throughout history. Native American Indians, though they lived in

What Is The Most Memorable Moment In A Movie
Lights, Curtain, Action
The lights dimmed, the curtain lifted, and the actors came out. My excitement was growing, first
starting in my throat, then working its way to my stomach. The sound of the instruments filled the
theater as the actors start to sing in loud clear voices. This was how my most memorable moment in
my childhood started, at the Times Union Center Theater in the last week of February.
My interest in theater started when I was a little girl. In particular, it was a movie that started this love.
I can still remember the day my father brought home that movie, The Phantom of the Opera. It was the
first musical I watched that was not Disney. After watching it, I felt overwhelmed with all the
emotions expressed in the movie. Of course, being as young as I was then, I was unable to quite
understand the meaning in the movie but that was not a problem. I was more interested in the singing
and dancing that was shown throughout the movie. It was this musical that influenced me to pursue a
career in theater and movies.
Even though I loved the musical so much I never did see it live. My family could not afford to buy
tickets and very rarely did the show come to my hometown. That is until I was 17 when they came to
the Times Union Center in Jacksonville. My sister and I were thrilled, but instantly our excitement
died when we remembered that we do not have the money for tickets. The both of us decided to start
coming up with ways to earn money, such as extra chores and odd jobs around the neighborhood.
Slowly but surely we began to earn money.
By the end of December, we were still short a couple hundred bucks and seats were selling out
quickly. It was Christmas Day when the most wonderful thing happened. My family was opening up
presents and it was my turn to open mines. My father handed me this large present and inside was a
slightly smaller present and inside that was an even smaller present which inside contained an
envelope. Inside of that envelope was a Christmas card with the inside saying Soak up this moment!
Clipped to the side of the card was three tickets to The Phantom of the Opera. I was overjoyed, I let
out a little squeal and could not stop thanking my parents. Finally, I can see the

  • 2. Prenatal Care For Young Women Essay Prenatal Care for Young Women Most young mothers are worried about a number of new changes that will impact them socially, physically and emotionally. Prenatal care can be neglected due to an unexpected pregnancy, not being educated on what to do, or not having resources to get care. Prenatal care is very important to a child s early development. Prenatal care can mean several things like cutting back on caffeine and stopping smoking. It can also mean soon after conception beginning to care for yourself and the baby as well as starting to schedule regular checkups with a doctor. Healthy People 2020 wants to help mothers, infants and children achieve optimal preconception health, and interconception health. The main goal is reducing the infant mortality rate and preterm births. In order to achieve this, it is important that mothers are educated on how to take care of their body and their growing baby. Preconception (before pregnancy) and interconception (between pregnancies) care provide an opportunity to identify existing health risks and to prevent health problems for women and their children. These problems include heart disease, diabetes, genetic conditions, sexually transmitted diseases and unhealthy weight (Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, 2016). According to the CDC (2016), teen pregnancy in the United States is not as large of a problem as it had been between 1990 and 2008. Teen pregnancy is isolated in females ages 15 19. Ideally women should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author wants to sell alcohol, to have live concerts, to let people dance, to stay opened after 2 a.m. and other things. (Nightlife) During that time selling alcohol was illegal and people were not accepting that new rule, therefore the name speakeasies was invented. Speakeasies is the name for places that used to sell illegal alcoholic beverages and some speakeasies were like clubs now a day, where people drink and dance. (Jen and Ceyana, 2010) 1970 s During the 1970 s, there were more types of entertainment than the 1920 s. There were bars, key holder clubs, lounges and ballrooms, rock clubs, and disco. • 4. A Memorable Moment In My Life I remember this tragedy like it was this morning. My aunt was out of town, so I was staying with my first cousin Andrew. I woke up fairly early for a weekend and had a cup of the best dark roast from Starbucks in my pink and white polka dot coffee cup, along with 2 tablespoons of rich french vanilla creamer. With my coffee, I went to go sit outside to listen to the bird s chirp, get a bit of fresh air and clear my head for the long day ahead of me. In my cousin s backyard, they have a tall fogged glass patio set, sitting upon the rustic wood patio. Sitting in the backyard made me feel as though it was just me and nature herself, so put together, beautiful and calm. It was black Friday and my cousin and I were going to head to my house for our families traditional pierogi making after breakfast. My mother As well as other family members were already waiting there for our arrival. We got into the car and rolled down the windows and started to play our favorite music. Once we got into the car we were sitting there for a moment just on our phones and having a casual conversation. My cousin had mentioned his friend getting into a car accident the month before, and we were positive that we were going to be okay because he was a safe driver, and wanted to get both of us there safely. Andrew soon started to drive on the way to my house, and the gas light turned on. My cousin pulled to the nearest gas station. As we pulled in I got chills all the way from the bottom of my feet ... • 7. Batman Monologue See I m not a monster...I m just ahead of the curve . After giving Batman a monologue about how Gotham City will eventually betray him, the psychotic Joker tells him how he knows this will happen. This one quote, from my favorite movie (The Dark Knight), has changed my outlook on life and its shape as a whole. Normally, it wouldn t be the best idea to gain inspiration from perhaps the most notorious fictional villain in history, but this quote, in particular, has a much deeper meaning than shallow self validation. To fully understand the quote, the context must first be understood. The Joker s elaborate plan to cause chaos in Gotham City involves getting caught by police, interrogated by Batman, and then subsequently blowing up the station. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I took 7 weighted classes, something that had never been done before in our school s history, believing that I could easily handle it. The first week of the semester proved that I could not handle it. I was getting no sleep, failing my first tests, and my AP Literature teacher even asked me if she should talk to my counselor about reducing my courseload. Of course, I declined. The same stress (albeit a lot less) was there for everyone. Junior year of high school is a killer, from much harder classes to SAT prep and an increased number of AP tests academically to prom and sports socially. The vast majority of students at my high school dealt with this stress one way: drugs. My friends were no exception. I did not succumb, my parents instilled better values in me. So instead, I put my head down and worked, using other stress relievers to ensure that I didn t kill myself. I partied (sober), hung out with my girlfriend, watched sports, and chilled with my friends whenever they weren t on drugs. I tried convincing them out of drugs, but they didn t listen. That s when I realized the second truth that everyone believed what they were doing was right, just like the Joker did. The Joker believed he was ridding Gotham City of its filth (politicians and police), and my friends believed they were doing what they needed to do to stay alive, after all, they needed to cope with pressure from their parents and peers academically, pressure socially, and pressure athletically. I did not agree, but I understood that they needed drugs, otherwise they would get withdrawals and fail school (this happened one week and it was really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soon after, Jerry joined his first band, the Chords, solidifying his destiny as a musician. Jerry Garcia s most obvious influences deal with music and the modern pop music band s role. • 11. The Great Purge And Was A Social Policy Of Stalin Stalin is a name everyone probably has heard at some point, most likely in a history class that you have long forgotten now. However people tend to not know that during his time as Premier of the Soviet Union he killed more people than Hitler did. This could have been through his policies or his Five year plans. Joseph Stalin ruled the Soviet Union from 1929 to 1953 when he died. In that 24 year span he killed an estimated 50 million people (Haines) and this doesn t include the lives lost in WW2. For some reason, it something that we do not learn in history; it is excluded from our history books. This is called the Great Purge and was a social policy of Stalin, he was collecting Jewish people though he was after opponents to his regime. Between 1934 and 1939 stalin set in a motion to have about ⅓ of the three million communist officials purged (Freedland). These people were either sent to a work camp or a gulag, put on trial where they were forced to plead guilty, or they were just executed. This was a policy of his that would secure his place in the communist party, he even went as far to have pictures of himself edited so that he wasn t in them with certain people. Stalin also sent his son, Yakov Dzhugashvili, to the eastern front hoping he would die. He did this because Yakov was an active opponent of his father (Evans). When he was captured the Nazi s tried ransoming him back, to which stalin said to kill him; which is what happened. Having purged the party he could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Here is a quick guide to the different levels of criminal offense that one could be charged with. #1 Ordinances The first and lowest level of criminal charge that you can face is an ordinance. Every city, state and township has its own specific laws that they enforce and in legal terms these laws are referred to as ordinances. Generally, a financial penalty is associated with most ordinance violations and they do not go on your formal criminal record. A misdemeanor will go on your criminal record, which means that you will face the consequences of a guilty plea long after you have served your time or paid a fine. If any employers or rental agencies run a background check on your, your misdemeanor will most likely show up and could compromise future jobs and housing prospects. #4 Felonies The fourth and most serious type of criminal charge that you can face is a felony. A felony conviction almost guarantees that you will spend time in either a state or federal prison, depending on whether the state or federal government brought the charges against you. A felony conviction should always show up on any background checks employers and housing agencies run against you in the future and if you fill out an application and are asked if you have a felony conviction, you will need to check yes. They don t much care about how well it works, just about how right it is ... they may even like it better if it inflicts enough pain (John Barnes). People do not think too much of how their actions affect other human beings. They think making others feel less than who they are is completely ok, even with the level of National Security. It is not ok whatsoever. Instead of dehumanizing people and making them feel worthless and like animals National Security, and other humans, should treat people equally and not like objects, make them feel comfortable and not take away their rights because we are all human and all equal. Although people feel as though they can just take away a person s rights and identity because they feel they are more superior and important, they have no right to. The three veterans, with needles in their hands, engraved a number on our left arms. I became A7713. After that I had no other name. (Wiesel 39). • 19. The Trouble With Wilderness By Cronon People in the US have assigned many different meanings to wilderness. Wilderness can be viewed as a nonhuman world where we can go to survive and escape reality. Wilderness is an unexplored land that can mean something entirely different for every individual. For many Americans, wilderness stands as the last remaining place where we can go and have fun. In America today, people go to the wild, to party and enjoy their weekend. I ve come to realize that everyone s perspective of wilderness comes from media, stories and their personal experiences. As people have given meaning to wilderness, I also have given wilderness a different meaning. Wilderness can be viewed as a place of escape where we can go and run away from our problems. I see wilderness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are two views: one that it is a solution to our problematic relationships while others reason that it s a place where we can go insane. Wilderness in fact has been seen as a place of youth and childhood, in which we can abandon our past. In William s Cronon article, The Trouble with Wilderness he talks about how we escape to the wilderness to forget our past. Cronon states, Seen as the bold landscape of frontier heroism, it is the place of youth and childhood, into which men escape by abandoning their pasts and entering a world of freedom where the constraints of civilization fade into memory (Cronon 427). This quote is a great representation of how we can see wilderness as a place of escape because we enter a world of freedom that fade away our problems. The wild is important to have because it s the last remaining place where we can turn to escape from our own too muchness. When we enter the wild we are free with no customs to follow. The wild allows us to be less responsible and free to venture away from society. This quote has a great connection with my perspective because it s saying that it s a place of renewal, relaxation and peace. Therefore, wilderness is a place of refuge. Acute respiratory distress syndrome according to our text book Respiratory Care Principles and Practice by Dean Hess states that acute respiratory distress syndrome is characterized by the abrupt onset of respiratory distress; associated with severe hypoxemia and diffuse pulmonary opacities on chest radio graph that are not caused by congestive heart failure or volume over load; Pao2 200 MMHG. (Hess, 1287). Acute respiratory distress syndrome is respiratory insufficiency marked by progressive hypoxemia due to severe inflammatory damage causing abnormal permeability of the alveolocapillary membrane. The alveoli fill with fluid, which interferes with gas exchange. ETIOLOGY according to Taber s medical dictionary, acute respiratory distress syndrome can typically be a result of or from trauma to the lungs for example in situations like near drowning, aspiration of gastric acids, and severe lung infection or systemic disorder. Shock, septicemia, disseminated intravascular coagulation, cardiopulmonary bypass or reaction to blood transfusions. Judy made an incorrect statement about a sloth just because of what type of animal he was. This statement was later proven not true, as the sloth was speeding throughout the streets of Zootopia. Concepts Stereotypes: Generalized (sometimes accurate but often overgeneralized) beliefs about a group of people. Throughout the movie, there are a lot of stereotypes evident. The main one is that predators are bad, and prey is good. Many believed in the movie that the predators could not be trusted after all the attacks that were happening, but that was not true. The rare cases of a predator going savage was due to toxic flowers. Discrimination: Unjustifiable negative behavior toward a group or its members. In Zootopia, an act of discrimination is seen in a flashback when Nick Wilde is joining the Ranger Scouts. In this scene, the members of the scouts put a muzzle on him just because he is a fox and They cannot trust a fox . Situational Attribution: Believing the cause of a behavior is based on the person s situation, not their attitude. An example of this in the movie was when Judy found out the reason for predators going savage was due to the flowers, not due to their attitudes or genetics. Dispositional Attribution: Believing that the cause of a behavior is based on the person s attitude, not situation. In the scene where Nick Wilde was trying to buy a popsicle for his son , Judy assumed that he was a great father. However, he was just trying to hustle her out of a free popsicle to sell later. Conformity: Adjusting one s behavior or thinking to coincide with a group standard. In the movie, when Judy said that she though that the predator s attacks were due to genetics, everyone conformed to this idea. The prey started to separate themselves from the prey and conform to this idea. Normative Social Influence: Influence resulting from a person s desire to gain approval or disapproval. Commentators argue that one of the most significant aspects of the book, and of its historical influence, is its ability to communicate a uniquely Chicano experience at a formative point in world history. A crucial element of this aspect of the novel comes in its ability to mobilize particular myths within its structure. Not only do these myths appear to play a crucial role within the action of the novel itself, but they also contribute significantly to the uniqueness of the Chicano voice as it is developed in the book. The capacity of myth to provide the ground for reconciliation is made clear in the final passages of the novel, in which Anaya s protagonist reflects on his capacity to use the story of the golden carp as one element of new religion. However there have been civilizations that climbed to the top of the metaphorical food chain and stayed there and influenced not only their region but the world for countless millennium even after they were no longer a functioning empire. Two such empires were the Roman Empire and the Persian Empire. The first factor to consider when thinking of successful empires would be geographical location. The second factor would have to be the leadership, and the third would have to be the method in which the empire expands. My excitement was growing, first starting in my throat, then working its way to my stomach. The sound of the instruments filled the theater as the actors start to sing in loud clear voices. This was how my most memorable moment in my childhood started, at the Times Union Center Theater in the last week of February. My interest in theater started when I was a little girl. In particular, it was a movie that started this love. I can still remember the day my father brought home that movie, The Phantom of the Opera. It was the first musical I watched that was not Disney. After watching it, I felt overwhelmed with all the emotions expressed in the movie. Of course, being as young as I was then, I was unable to quite understand the meaning in the movie but that was not a problem. I was more interested in the singing and dancing that was shown throughout the movie. It was this musical that influenced me to pursue a career in theater and movies. Even though I loved the musical so much I never did see it live. My family could not afford to buy tickets and very rarely did the show come to my hometown. That is until I was 17 when they came to the Times Union Center in Jacksonville.
