What Is The Apology Of Socrates
In the Apology of Socrates Plato writes the way in which Socrates defended with rationales and
evidence refuting the charges of which he was blamed Melito, Lycon and Anytus. Melito did in
representing poets, Lycon on behalf of speakers and Anito by politicians and artists; each
representing a sector of society. They considered dangerous Socratesto the Athenian society
because he was a man who thought and questioning. The apology interesting since it is a
reflection on many issues in which Socrates was interested, well it did and meant to defend; takes
several phases and discusses various topics of which he was accused; all those items addressed
very smart; since its main objective was to persuade the judges to give him the votes to acquit....

Domestic Terrorism And International Terrorism

Domestic Terrorism vs. International Terrorism
Paul A. Vega
Tarleton State University
Domestic Terrorism vs. International Terrorism
The acts of terrorism can affect the lives of many people and is not limited to those who receive
physical scaring, but also people who have an emotional connection to those who are injured, and
quite possibly an entire nation. To distinguish between domestic and international terrorismone
must first define terrorism. It seems from region to region there are slight variations of what
qualifies as terrorism. The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations defines terrorism as the unlawful use
of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian
population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of or social objectives (FBI Terrorism 2002
2005). The Federal Bureau of Investigation further distinguishes terrorism by dividing them into
two distinct categories: Domestic and International terrorism. Domestic Terrorism is categorized by
the FBI as occurring primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States. These acts are
violent in nature and aim toward the intimidation of a government and its people. Domestic and
International terrorism can also be further distinguished by considering the origin of the individuals
or groups who commit the acts. Domestic Terrorism involves people who are natural born citizens
or those who primarily operate in the

Essay on The Assassination of President Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States of America. Lincoln was born
on February 12, 1809, and died on April 15, 1865. As a young child, Abraham lived in a log cabin
in Illinois. Around the age of twelve he began working, wielding an ax, building fences, and cutting
wood. Later, Abraham Lincolnmarried a woman named Mary Todd; together they had four
children. Lincoln started his presidency on March 18, 1861, but his term was cut short on April
14, 1865, by the assassin John Wilkes Booth (Abraham). John Wilkes Booth was born on May 10,
1838, and lived in Maryland. Booth was the eighth of ten children living in his home in the

The Thirteenth Amendment states, Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude except as
punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the
United States, nor any place subject to their jurisdiction (Amendment). Because of the
controversy over slavery, President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth.
The president was on his way to see the comedy Our American Cousin at Fords Theater with
General Grant and his wife. Secretary of War, Edwin Stanton, begged the president not to attend
the comedy. Disregarding Stanton s plea for him to stay home in case of an attempted
assassination, Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln arrived at Fords Theater a little late and made their way to
his box. John Parker, a notorious drinker, left the box, leaving the president and his wife
unguarded. In the middle of the third act, John Wilkes Booth slipped into the box and pointed a
gun to the back of the sixteenth president s head; Wilkes plan to murder the president succeeded

were at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show displaying their latest self driving car technology.
The Lexus prototype is a modified LS 600H model and is a safety focused research vehicle
designed to be more aware than ever of what is going on around it. (Charlton, 1) The
modifications include an array of sensors to keep the car on the right side of the road. It also
includes a Light Detecting And Ranging laser to detect objects around it. This is joined by three
high definition cameras, a motion sensor that determines speed, and a GPS for determining and
monitoring the car s location. (Charlton, 1) Mark Templin, vice president of Lexus parent
company Toyota, said: For Toyota and Lexus, an autonomous vehicle does not translate to a
driverless vehicle, but rather a car equipped with an intelligent, always attentive co pilot whose
skills contribute to safer driving. (qtd by Charlton, 1) This provides information about what type
of work Toyota and Lexus is doing when it pertains to self driving car technologies. Even with
the extensive research automakers are completing, they still have a long way to go before they
can display a self driving car on the showroom floor. Despite all the technological advances being
made, self driving cars still face many obstacles. One of these is society s acceptance of a machine

Hiroshima Bombing Blame
How would you feel if you designed a weapon that was responsible for the death of thousands of
individuals? In August, 1945 the United States dropped nuclear bombs on the cities of Hiroshima
and Nagasaki. It is estimated that between 106,000 to 185,000 people died and approximately
110,000 others were injured. (29 9) Atomic Energy during World War II was used to develop a
powerful bomb before the Germans; in doing so, mass destruction occurred, causing guilt to its
creators.
In 1934, after the death of President Hindenburg, Hitler took over to become Fuehrer and Reich
Chancellor. He abolished the title of President at that time. (25) In the years that followed, he

The heat from the blast caused fires that burned for days on end. At ground zero, the heat charred
corpses beyond recognition. The heat ceased so quickly that surfaces not in the direct line of
radiation were left unaffected. This caused visible, clearly defined shadows where objects were
shielded against the heat. Humans exposed to the heat were victims of flash burns, and had
serious, third degree burns all over their bodies. Their flesh was raw and bubbled. The sound of
the explosion was heard from fifteen miles away. Another survivor recalls, The pumpkin field in
front of the house was blown clean. Nothing was left of the whole thick crop, except that in
place of the pumpkins there was a woman s head. I looked at the face to see if I knew her. A gold
tooth gleamed in the wide open mouth. A handful of singed hair hung down from the left temple
over her cheek, dangling in her mouth. Her eyelids were drawn up, showing black holes where the
eyes had been burned out...She had probably looked square into the flash and gotten her eyeballs

This is important as it provides accountability for the company. As outlined in the AASB
framework, notes are a form of supplementary information that may include information about items
in the financial statements, risks of the entity, and any resources not disclosed in the balance sheet.
This additional information provides investors with relevant information to assess the business on
and evaluate what they can expect from an investment in the company.
In calculating the solvency of a business, a clear indication of its financial position can be
determined. Solvency describes the ability of a business s assets to cover its liabilities if they fall
due. From certain figures in the balance sheet, the current ratio can be calculated. This ratio
divides total current assets by total current liabilities. If a company is solvent, this ratio will be
greater than 1; in this case it is 3.3, which indicates that the current assets can cover the current
liabilities three times over and is therefore indicative of a financially stable company.
The majority of the debt of Billabong is tied up in unsecured borrowings. Unsecured borrowings
are when no security is taken by the lender. The bank or finance company offers you a loan if
they are confident you will be able to repay it. During the year, the secured cash advance facilities

The Negative and Positive Benefits of Fluoride
The ingestion of fluoride has been associated to benefits for the teeth. According to some
observers in the past, fluoride strengthens the enamel of the teeth making it not so susceptible to
cavities. From this hypothesis the fluoridation of water had its start and until today it is believed
to be one of the most responsible sources for reducing cavities in the population (Graham Morin,
1999). In some author s view the fluoridation of the water implies a significant change and the
positive effects can been seen in the so called post fluoridegeneration. In this generation the number
of adults without any teethhas dramatically declined and similar improvements can be observed in
the periodontal health в€’ related to gums and supporting structures of teeth в€’ (Milgrom Reisine,
2000). However the lack of consideration of fluoride s potential to be harmful to human s health is
questionable and studies have pointed out the dark side of this compound (Bryson, 2006). A study
conducted in the cities of Newburgh and Kingston, in New York have shown that the prevalence of
cavities in the population is similar or even less in communities that doesn t have artificial
fluoridated water compared to the ones that have fluoride add to the water. This study conducted
forty years ago is one considerable evidence that fluoridating the water isn t strongly necessary
nowadays to prevent tooth decay, considering that the access to fluoridated products, such as
toothpaste, mouthwash and

BOOK REVIEW
Lifelong learning in the Global Knowledge Economy: Challenge for Developing Countries Lifelong
learning is becoming necessary in many countries and it is more than just education and training
beyond formal schooling. This book indicated that a lifelong learning framework encompasses
learning throughout the lifecycle, form early childhood to retirement, and in different learning
environments, formal, nonformal, and informal. This report represents the World Bank s first
attempt to lay out an analytical framework for understanding the challenges of developing a
lifelong learning system. This book, which is as well as a report presenting lifelong learning in the
global knowledge economy: challenges for developing countries, explores the challenges to
education and training system that the knowledge economy presents. It outlines policy options for
addressing these challenges and developing viable systems of lifelong learning in developing
countries and countries with transition economies. This book addresses 4 questions: 1, what does a
national education and training system, including its formal and nonformal components, need to do
to support knowledge based economic growth? 2, how can developing countries and countries with
transition economies promote lifelong learning, and what challenges do they face in doing so? 3,
given limited resources, what type of governance framework promotes lifelong learning for people

Back in the Throne Room, the councillors wanted an answer. The prisoners looked at Karjon for

about the strange object in the sky that almost crashed into God s World? The councillors
looked at one another as if it was sacrilege to talk about it. Sargon could see that he was the one
to provide some explanation. He did consider the position they were in and was sorely tempted
to just not give an answer without any further comment. But his desire to debate these religious

The one who openly rejected God! The one who turned his back on his religion. Well that

with Fursha when it first appeared from outside God s World. We can even point to the part of
the sky it came from. No, Fursha is totally innocent. Another God sent it! This had the reaction of
all the council members standing up. Never had they heard such blasphemy. Members had been
killed for less. Consequently this gave Sargon an idea. He grabbed a spear off the nearest
Enforcer. You have blasphemed against our Lord and Protector. Our laws are very clear! There
is no other way forward. Sargon announced and without any warning he plunged the spear into
Volgon. The others gasped in response and grabbed Volgon as he fell to the ground. They looked
back up at Sargon who had casually retaken his seat. He showed no remorse at all. Werten, in
particular, was angry to the point of madness. He leapt up in a futile effort to attack Sargon. But
several Enforcers grabbed him before he could get anywhere near. Why did you do that? Karjon
eventually said. We were just debating a point. He did not deserve to die! What kind of God
would condone such an action? Sargon rose again. It is clear to me that your debate as you call it,
is really just an excuse to prolong your lives. You

This magazine and advertisement targets women from 18 to 35 years of age. The advertisement

this target this targets women of that age is because every women on the cover of the

Christians Have All Of God
Christians have certain responsibilities to uphold in order to call themselves Christians . To be
a said, Christian , is not simply believing in God, but having a devoted relationship with him and
living every aspect of life with the all omnipotent creator as the center. Throughout my life I
have fallen short of these expectations again and again in a cycle we call, sin. However, God
forgives this sin daily with such grace and mercy. I believe God will use my sin, my life, in
ways that I can not even begin to fathom, to further his kingdom. This past summer I served as a
counselor at a local christian camp. During my first week of counseling I met a boy named
Blake. Blake was the sort of kid who walked into indoor registration with his shades on, sleeves
rolled up and bandanas plastered on his arms and legs. The kid that everyone warned you about,
the kid nobody wanted. I observed at Blake that first day and felt a sense of empathy and
compassion. I remember seeing this kid at previous camps. The kid that came from a broken
home, a rough neighbourhood or simply had a tough teacher. The one that everyone wanted to
avoid, despite being in a Christian camp. During quiet devotion time on the second day, I took
the station Blake had lumped himself into. He had sunk himself down into a bag of balls so you
could barely see his small body as he snickered in rebellion. His other friends play basketball and
giggle at him. I walk in and they instantly soften their laughter and

Fighting The West Nile Virus Essay
Fighting the West Nile What is the West Nile Virus? It is an illness distinguished by headaches,
muscle soreness, a fever, and more. The illness affects vary depending on the person and the
symptoms, though very few can sometimes be critical. It is diagnosed specifically as the West Nile
Virus by those special symptoms. Many wonder about certain treatments for the virus and whether
or not there are vaccinations for it. It can be identified by a few common effects of most flus, but
what are the details that differentiates the West Nile Viruswith the others? The diversity between
the West Nile and flus include details such as transmission, symptoms, and treatment. What is the
illness and how is it transmitted? The West Nile Virus, like some flus, is spread through
mosquitos making it an arthropod born virus; however, some flus are started by other animals, too
(General Questions About West Nile Virus). The mosquitos that carry the disease become infected
by birds (General Questions About West Nile Virus). After it becomes infected, it then
contaminates any living thing it feeds on (General Questions About West Nile Virus). The West
Nile Virus is not airborne and you cannot get infected by regular contact with someone who has
the illness, whereas with the flu, you can (M. [2015, December 16]). A rare way it could be

1936 when the German government burnt all books which would oppose its rule, in fear that the
society it governed would think of rebelling.
Big Bob is the obvious ruler, as he is almost always seen with a low shot, making him look big and
powerful to the audience. Bob s situation is similar, burning books to stop changes occurring.
Books are seen as works of art which are derived from the imagination of thinking people. Bob s
censorship practices extend to the prohibition of Mr Johnson from using colours to paint (that is,
from using the full extent of his imagination) in his Code of Conduct. In this way, he is much like
the German government in the 30s. However, he wants to continue his rule without any violent
opposition; only pleasantness . There is irony however, as there is vandalism and disruption when
the Milk Bar is broken into and sabotaged because of his encouragement, which is the exact
opposite of pleasant . The fact that people submitted to this way of

The Air Force Change Management
The Air Force is a component of the United States Department of Defense with numerous
responsibilities and combat capabilities. The broad scope of its military responsibilities has
necessitated a moderately flexible organizational structure, and a wide range of educational and
technical specialties. Obtaining the talent required to fill highly technical job openings has forced
the military to recruit civilian workers, resulting in a highly diverse work force. Although diversity
and flexibility provide the Air Force with significant advantages, these attributes also cause several
problems when leaders attempt to implement change. Researchers from RAND Corporation suggest

The department s leadership is responsible for providing appropriate manpower and resources to
each mission using an increasingly tight budget, while also following strict laws for high priority
missions, such as nuclear defense, which mandate both high levels of training and manpower (Air
Education Training Command, 2015). Additionally, warfare technology has become incredibly
advanced. Due to this complication, the educational and technical requirements for military service
members and employees are steadily increasing. education and contract diversity. Because of the
wide gap in educational requirements between each purpose the military fulfills, mission
completion has necessitated the recruiting of both active duty military members, and specialized
civilian employees and contractors. The increasing advanced requirements for cyberspace defense
and weapon research cannot be adequately met through an organizational model dependant on the
recruiting of enlisted members, who usually have an educational level no higher than high school,
and officer members, who often have not obtained an educational level higher than a baccalaureate
prior to service entry. The Air force needs traditional military members to maintain proficiency and
command during standard warfare operations. It needs highly technical positions, which the
government can only hope to effectively obtain from civilians, who naturally expect better pay and

Agile Web Development Works Of The World Breathed A Sigh...
Agile Web Development Works First, and foremost, agile web development is not a specific
process, action, or exercise. it s a mindset an attitude with which a project is delivered. The agile
methodology puts customer first, enabling development teams to work collaboratively and
readily respond to change, and to deliver the best possible product. Being agile means focused on
delivering streamlined projects, not wasting time documenting every meticulous detail of a
product. Instead of documentations, development teams begin working almost immediately on
delivering small incremental products. These incremental products enable customers and design
teams to perform frequent sanity checks, making sure they are not spending an inordinate
amount of time (and money) on features that deliver little to no value. Begin agile, enable teams
to deliver the most value; in less time and with least amount of headaches. Flexibility and Agility

world breathed a sigh of relief when Jesse James Garrett and Steve Krug first introduced us to
their usability/user centered design books in 2002. Not because they were new and innovative,
but because they articulated the subject so well, even nontech savvy individuals could digest the
material. Using the agile approach, designers, and developers are able to eliminate up to 80% of
the prep work allowing us to pass on that savings to you. Modern

A Thousand Splendid Suns By Khaled Hosseini
In Khaled Hosseini s novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns, women live in an oppressive,
discriminatory Afghan society in which they are deemed useless and obtain little to no rights, yet
still manage to endure the burden that falls upon them. After the immensely false interpretations
of her father and the bitter fatality of her mother, Mariam s father demands she marries a stranger
considerably older than her at the age of fifteen. Rasheed prays daily in hopes for Laila to produce
a male offspring and is exceedingly unappreciative and disrespectful when Laila produces a female
instead. Rasheed and the Talibanclaim it is extremely blasphemous and embarrassing for a married
Afghan womanto look directly into a man s eyes, wear makeup, or display her knees so Rasheed
asserts Mariam and Laila wear burqas. Women s diminished rights and limited input in society is
evident when youthful Mariam unwillingly marries an outright stranger because her father and
wives demands she do so.
Mariam is in absolute disbelief when Jalil s wives instruct her to marry a forty five year old man
immediately while Jalil watches speechlessly and approves of the arranged, instant, forced marriage
. After less than a month of living with her father, his wives find the perfect opportunity to remove
Mariam from the household which simultaneously abolishes the last trace of her father s
scandalous mistake of an affair with his housekeeper, Mariam s mother. You have a suitor, Khadija

The Signalman, by Charles Dickens; The Battler by Ernest...
The Signalman, by Charles Dickens; The Battler by Ernest Hemingway
In what way do the two authors create and maintain interest and suspense in their stories?
In Charles Dickens The Signalman the story starts by introducing the main character (a railway
signalman). Another character is also introduced: the narrator. Dickens describes the signalmanas a
dark sallow man and as having a dark beard and heavy eyebrows . It seems that Dickens wishes to
portray the signalman as a dark and ominous figure. However, he then sheds some light on the
character of the signalman. Dickens portrays him to be very lonely and afraid of something. This is
shown in the way he turns himself about and looked down the Line when the ... Show more content

Another way in which Dickens shows this is by making the signalman appear to be a little
strange. This is done, at first, by his lack of speech: He looked up at me without replying . Dickens
continues this suggestion (the signalman is insane) when he does finally speak. He speaks only in
a low voice, adding to the suggestion of danger. Then he tells the narrator what is wrong: the
ghostly sightings. This again makes us question his sanity.
Dickens maintains this suspense that he has created with use of a leitmotiv of the red light, which
is linked to the menacing apparition and maybe an accident on the railway. When the narrator
leaves after the first visit the signalman still has not told him the full story about the apparition. We
have to wait until their next meeting to find out for ourselves. This leaves the story as a so called
cliff hanger and encourages us read on.
On their second meeting, the signalman tells the narrator, and us, of the accident that seemed so
obviously linked to the apparition by the fact that every time it appeared there was an accident on
the line somewhere. After, sustaining the suspense through the first meeting of the two men,
Dickens creates even more with the revealing of this ominous event. Dickens then maintains

Feminism in Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel Essay
Feminism in Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
There are many different definitions of feminism. Some people regard feminism as the idea that
women deserve the same amount of respect that men deserve. There are the other schools of
feminist thought that hold women superior to men. Yet another believes that the gender roles
controlling women are artificially created and not innate knowledge, and thus men and women are
equals with only history the determining factor and how gender equality is established. There are
clear feminist overtones in Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel. Esquivel pointes to a more
radical definition of feminism in Like Water for Chocolate. The story focuses on mostly female

Mama Elena goes on, for better or worse, attempting the best she can to raise a family in the
tumultuous time of the Mexican revolution. She struggles against her rebellious daughter in her
own attempt to keep her family s heritage and traditions alive. Not only does she raise a family
but she also runs the ranch on which the live and on derive their sustenance. Early on in the novel
we see that Esquivel presents a character that deserves the same amount of respect normally giving
to a male character in this same role. By placing this normally male role in a woman Esquivel
questions the typical role of the woman in a home of just raising children by bestowing additional
responsibilities.
We see elsewhere in the novel the strength in Gertrudis, Tita s sister. Gertrudis escapes the ranch
after reacting mysteriously to one of Tita s recipes. She runs away with a rebel soldier, works in a
brothel at the Mexico Texas border, and eventually returns to the ranch as a general in the
revolutionary army. Here we witness the creation of a second strong female character. When we
first see Gertrudis we see just another female character. But after her return we find that she has
become a leader of in the revolution. Again Esquivel takes a potion that is typically male
associated and fills that role with and equally respectable female character.
There is then the focal character, Tita. Tita is the pivotal character in defining Like Water for

Synopsis Of A Book Meridian By Alice Walker Essay
Nataliya Tyshchenko
Professors Aberbach, Decker, Fink
GE Cluster: America in the Sixties
4 November 2016
Time Warp: Meridian In psychology, the primacy effect is defined as the tendency to recall primary
information better than information divulged later on. This observation can be extended to how
first impressions resonate well in the minds of humans. In her historical novel, Meridian, author
Alice Walker reshapes perceptions about who holds power and moral authority and what
determines this by making time out of joint (choosing an interesting narrative structure, with a most
important beginning) and employing symbolism and repetition. Abandoning chronological order
forces a reader to constantly abandon preconceived notion about characters, events, movements,
and even themselves. As a result, the meaning of reality, life, and what is normal is resignified .
The effect of narrative structure is evident when Walker s choice for the beginning of the novel
affects the reader s perception of moral authority and power for the rest of the novel. By opening
with multiple, and incredibly varying, definitions of the word Meridian, Walker establishes her idea
that the main character is tough to pin down. Who she is will not be clear to the audience. This
perhaps presages that Meridian s moral authority and power will not be easily defined or pinned
down either and it is useless to try to assign a secondary meaning ( myth ) to her because it will
always shift. Though it is human

The major motion picture, Pearl Harbor, reflects upon a war that occurred a few decades ago
rather than the documentary filmed very shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Both movies
depict the attack as one that will live on in infamy, but the documentary takes a spiteful vengeance
towards Japan because it was filmed during a time of hatred towards the Japanese, our enemy.
While the newer movie has given us time to reflect upon the war and realize that we both
underestimated the enemy and knew very little about the other. While one movie was in black and

In a two hour period, 18 ships were sunk or badly damaged including the Arizona, which split in

carriers based at Pearl Harbor were out to sea at the time of the attack.
On the day after, President Roosevelt stood before Congress, and, after declaring December 7,
1941 to be a quot;date that will live in infamy quot;, he urged that a declaration of war be issued.
Meanwhile, half a world away, the Japanese celebrated their victory, but Yamamoto wondered out

The Iron Wall
The Iron Wall is a documentary film released in 2006. It is all about the establishment of the West
Bank Israeli settlements. According to the film, these settlements are a strategy to occupy the
territory permanently. The construction of the controversial Israeli West Bank barrier is among the
issues covered. The Palestinians for Peace and Democracy and the Palestinian Agricultural Relief

an Official Selection. The film follows the timeline through which the establishment of the
settlements took place. It examines the effects of the settlements on the peace process. Featured in
the film are interviews with noted political analysts and peace activists from Palestineand Israel,
including Hind Khoury, Akiva Eldar, and Jeff Halper. The subtitles of the film are in Hebrew,

John B Watson Behaviorism
The behaviorism perspective displays how the environment impacts the way people behave. This
perspective was founded by Watson, who wanted to revolutionize the study of human psychology in
order to put it on firm experimental footing. (http://www.iep.utm.edu/behavior/) Behaviorism shows
the chemical responses in our brain are triggered by the external part of our bodies. For example,
behaviorismexplains why we feel pleasure when we gamble, drink, smoke. Our body releases
endorphins which allows us to feel pleasure from doing these things. The first time you feel the
rush of gambling is what makes you want to keep gambling, even if it is not in your best interest.
One of the pioneers of the behaviorism perspective was John B. Watson. He was born to a poor
family in Greenville, South Carolina. When Watson was 13, his father left due to a drinking
problem and his countless affairs. Watson went to the University of Chicago, which sparked his
interest in behavior. He saw psychology as the study of people s actions with the ability to predict
and control those actions. (http://www.muskingum.edu/~psych/psycweb/history/watson.htm)

To find out all available options and their pros and cons my team has put together the following
analysis:
In one and half month the single word of one mathematician has turned into a worldwide campaign
against us. AMD, Cyrix, and Nexgen are benefiting most from these events. They proved to have
become quicker in manufacturing clones of our innovative products. Given this shorter time to
market, they may jump on this opportunity to deliver Pentium clones any time. Our strategy to stop
competitors copying our new products was heavy patent protection for the Pentium brand, however
if our brand image is continually damaged to such extent, that protection would not give us the
competitive advantage we expected. Although we have been the chips of choice for most of users,
with the current negative publicity, the competitors may find their niche and expand their market

The Clarity Of Scripture Analysis
Imagine yourself in a blustery sea with every human being in the world. Everyone is drowning,
and the only source of life is on a ship where the captain lives. Insistently, the captain throws out
life rings, but people, in the mist of their drowning, refuse and rebuke him. As ridiculous as this
may sound, this is how the fallen world today responds to the message of the most influential book
written, the Bible. As time passes, people pass, but Gods words will not pass away (Luke 21:33).
His words are the greatest literature ever written. They are read by more people, quoted by more
authors, translated into more tongues, represented in more art, are set to more music than any other
book or books written by any man in any century in any land... because they are the greatest words
ever spoken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that the Bible is ONLY understood by those that are seeking God s help and willing to
follow it (Wayne Grudem). Those who do not have the work of the Holy Spirit in them will not see
the truthfulness of Scripture. Psalm 119:130 says, The unfolding of your words gives light; it
imparts understanding to the simple. In addition, 2 Peter 3:16 also goes on to state that there are
some things in them (the epistles) that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist
to their own destruction. Like Jesus disciples did, we will sometimes misunderstand Scripture, but
we should not believe the error is in the Bible, but with the interpretations we have made, because
Christ s ways are higher than ours ways and his thoughts than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). However,
God provides us with scholars to make clear the errors in interpretations and to defend the Bible
from false teachings and interpretations. The clarity of Scripture also shows that if we do not
respond to Gods truth all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men... will suppress the truth (Romans

The Death Penalty Is Wrong
Sean Shen
Mr. Todd
Languages and Literature, E 8, Research Paper
April 20th 2018
The Death Penalty is Wrong The death penalty has been considered one of the most severe
punishments by governments. However, recently, many people have rebelled against the death
penalty. The death penaltyis an act that is similar to being ruled under fascism instead of
democracy. Under the rule of democracy, citizens are responsible for the acts of other fellow
citizens, which can be inferred that crime is caused by the lack of responsibility in society. The
victim s loved ones suffer due to the victim s death. It is understandable that they would want the
murderer dead, but society often does not work that way. People need to think on behalf of the
society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, the opposing view states that if the death penalty did not exist, then it could have a
tremendous effect on society. However, that is not true. If there were no death penalty, we would
still have other punishments that were used like life imprisonment. There are other forms of
physical punishment such as whipping. This type of punishment would be able to take the place
of the death penalty because the death penalty is just too extreme. In truth, criminals need a
second chance in their life for them to succeed. Here is a quote: Hoang Vu (attempted murderer)
and Terrell Carswell (cocaine trafficking and robbery) were next, pulling Burden off the deputy
while David Schofield (aggravated assault and battery) grabbed Moon s radio and called for help.
(cracked.com). This shows how a prisoner who has committed a crime helps the officers in prison.
If they had a second chance to integrate into society, they would live better lives without
damaging society. If we look at the problem on behalf of society, isn t it one of our responsibilities
to forgive rather than taking everything from them? A democratic society is when you are
responsible for other people s

The Pros And Cons Of The Schlieffen Plan
The Schlieffen Plan The Germans thought that they might have to go to war with Russia. If this
would happen/occur, France would most likely join Russia, considering that she was Russia s ally.
This would mean that Germany would have to fight a two front war, which would be a
nightmare. The Schlieffen Plan was a plan to avoid a war on two fronts against Russia and France.
The plan itself started in 1905 as a thought experiment, but the planning started before the
1900s(1892). The Schlieffen Plan started the Franco Russian alliance. The obvious solution to the
plan was to quickly beat one country, then focus against the other one. But which country should

We Cannot Show Disrespect To People With Disabilities
I have been fortunate enough to work in a field that does not show disrespect to people with
disabilities. Sadly, the world we live in doesn t work the same way as Head Start. I do not watch
TV at all, but when I used to I don t remember really seeing many commercials or shows that
blatantly disrespected people with disabilities, but what little I have seen in the media seems be
geared toward gaining pity for those individuals. This always saddens me, as in my mind every
individual has some sort of disability, some are just more pronounced than others. I know at Head
Start people first language is often used, however society has so often forgotten that every human

Rti Case Study In Psychology
Once upon a time, there lived a girl name Heather. Heather was a wife, a mother and a Solider.
She was a young, attractive and approachable professional, based on the external aesthetic she
presented, most acquaintances perceived her as a fully functional, type A personality. They were
wrong. Heather began her military career in the field of Aviation, spending the majority of her
service in that particular branch she displayed the aptitude and ability to easily transition into
diverse fields of study. Based on her performance and attributes, Heather was reassigned as an
instructor with the Eastern Army Aviation Training Site (EAATS), later transferring over the
Regional Training Institution (RTI). Her transfer to the RTI was a consequence of substandard
promiscuous behavior. Although, no one in the RTI chain of command was aware of her
circumstances or situation, her demeanor presented a concerning area of interest. I had formerly
been acquainted with Heather and also served with her husband, all the while believing they
were a happy couple. I was wrong. Heather had engaged in adultery while she was assigned at
EAATS, for reasons unclear to me, her sexual repression (as Freud may have diagnosed) was

injuries, although she was discharged from the military and divorced her husband she has begun to
rebuild her life. She moved out of state and obtained a promising career as a consultant with the
FAA. My hope is that she also has learned and continues to grow from this unfortunate

Employee
As mentioned above, Qantas has announced its plan retrench up to 5,000 of their full time

The Time Of Ancient Greeks And Romans
Back to the time of ancient Greeks and romans. The disenfranchisement for felons began throughout
Europe and was referred to as the civil death. Disenfranchisement means to prevent from someone
or an individual the right to vote do to their criminal history in the past with this happening in The
United States it doesn t give the opportunity of ex felons to have input on any laws that being

contracts, there right to own fire arms, the right to employment in certain fields, the right to public

this idea with them as they came to America but the voter s disenfranchisement or felonycontinued
through the 19th and 20th centuries for many states.
During the reconstruction period the southern states began using disenfranchisement laws similar
to poll taxes, literacy test, and the grandfather clauses as a way to try to minimize the black vote.
General disenfranchisement that had applied to all criminals were tailored particularized crimes
that were mostly committed by blacks than crimes that were committed from whites. While today

Vega Tarleton State University Domestic Terrorism vs. International Terrorism The acts of terrorism can affect the lives of many people and is not limited to those who receive physical scaring, but also people who have an emotional connection to those who are injured, and quite possibly an entire nation. To distinguish between domestic and international terrorismone must first define terrorism. It seems from region to region there are slight variations of what qualifies as terrorism. The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations defines terrorism as the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of or social objectives (FBI Terrorism 2002 2005). The Federal Bureau of Investigation further distinguishes terrorism by dividing them into two distinct categories: Domestic and International terrorism. Domestic Terrorism is categorized by the FBI as occurring primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States. These acts are violent in nature and aim toward the intimidation of a government and its people. Domestic and International terrorism can also be further distinguished by considering the origin of the individuals or groups who commit the acts. Domestic Terrorism involves people who are natural born citizens or those who primarily operate in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is important as it provides accountability for the company. As outlined in the AASB framework, notes are a form of supplementary information that may include information about items in the financial statements, risks of the entity, and any resources not disclosed in the balance sheet. This additional information provides investors with relevant information to assess the business on and evaluate what they can expect from an investment in the company. In calculating the solvency of a business, a clear indication of its financial position can be determined. Solvency describes the ability of a business s assets to cover its liabilities if they fall due. From certain figures in the balance sheet, the current ratio can be calculated. This ratio divides total current assets by total current liabilities. If a company is solvent, this ratio will be greater than 1; in this case it is 3.3, which indicates that the current assets can cover the current liabilities three times over and is therefore indicative of a financially stable company. The majority of the debt of Billabong is tied up in unsecured borrowings. Unsecured borrowings are when no security is taken by the lender. • 11. The Negative and Positive Benefits of Fluoride The ingestion of fluoride has been associated to benefits for the teeth. According to some observers in the past, fluoride strengthens the enamel of the teeth making it not so susceptible to cavities. From this hypothesis the fluoridation of water had its start and until today it is believed to be one of the most responsible sources for reducing cavities in the population (Graham Morin, 1999). In some author s view the fluoridation of the water implies a significant change and the positive effects can been seen in the so called post fluoridegeneration. In this generation the number of adults without any teethhas dramatically declined and similar improvements can be observed in the periodontal health в€’ related to gums and supporting structures of teeth в€’ (Milgrom Reisine, 2000). However the lack of consideration of fluoride s potential to be harmful to human s health is questionable and studies have pointed out the dark side of this compound (Bryson, 2006). A study conducted in the cities of Newburgh and Kingston, in New York have shown that the prevalence of cavities in the population is similar or even less in communities that doesn t have artificial fluoridated water compared to the ones that have fluoride add to the water. This study conducted forty years ago is one considerable evidence that fluoridating the water isn t strongly necessary nowadays to prevent tooth decay, considering that the access to fluoridated products, such as toothpaste, mouthwash and ... It outlines policy options for addressing these challenges and developing viable systems of lifelong learning in developing countries and countries with transition economies. This book addresses 4 questions: 1, what does a national education and training system, including its formal and nonformal components, need to do to support knowledge based economic growth? 2, how can developing countries and countries with transition economies promote lifelong learning, and what challenges do they face in doing so? 3, given limited resources, what type of governance framework promotes lifelong learning for people in general and disadvantaged groups in ... Before we answer, we request an answer of our own. What did God have to say about the strange object in the sky that almost crashed into God s World? The councillors looked at one another as if it was sacrilege to talk about it. Sargon could see that he was the one to provide some explanation. He did consider the position they were in and was sorely tempted to just not give an answer without any further comment. But his desire to debate these religious issues got the better of him. No, Fursha is totally innocent. Another God sent it! This had the reaction of all the council members standing up. Never had they heard such blasphemy. Members had been killed for less. Consequently this gave Sargon an idea. He grabbed a spear off the nearest Enforcer. You have blasphemed against our Lord and Protector. Our laws are very clear! There is no other way forward. Sargon announced and without any warning he plunged the spear into Volgon. The others gasped in response and grabbed Volgon as he fell to the ground. They looked back up at Sargon who had casually retaken his seat. He showed no remorse at all. Werten, in particular, was angry to the point of madness. He leapt up in a futile effort to attack Sargon. But several Enforcers grabbed him before he could get anywhere near. Why did you do that? Karjon eventually said. We were just debating a point. The magazine was issued during December in the year of 2011. The advertisement is also on page 22 23. My advertisement is from well known store called Jcpenny. In this advertisement Jcpenny is having a Christmas sale. The author of this ad uses different techniques to persuade you to buy their merchandise throughout this advertisement. By the time you finish reading this paper you will have known how the author used pathos, ethos, and logos to capture your attention. This magazine and advertisement targets women from 18 to 35 years of age. The advertisement targets men also of the same age, but due to the title and cover of the magazine, i strangely doubt a man would see the advertisement unless it was in a different magazine. The reason I believe this target this targets women of that age is because every women on the cover of the advertisement is between the age group. To be a said, Christian , is not simply believing in God, but having a devoted relationship with him and living every aspect of life with the all omnipotent creator as the center. Throughout my life I have fallen short of these expectations again and again in a cycle we call, sin. However, God forgives this sin daily with such grace and mercy. I believe God will use my sin, my life, in ways that I can not even begin to fathom, to further his kingdom. This past summer I served as a counselor at a local christian camp. During my first week of counseling I met a boy named Blake. Blake was the sort of kid who walked into indoor registration with his shades on, sleeves rolled up and bandanas plastered on his arms and legs. The kid that everyone warned you about, the kid nobody wanted. I observed at Blake that first day and felt a sense of empathy and compassion. I remember seeing this kid at previous camps. The kid that came from a broken home, a rough neighbourhood or simply had a tough teacher. The one that everyone wanted to avoid, despite being in a Christian camp. During quiet devotion time on the second day, I took the station Blake had lumped himself into. He had sunk himself down into a bag of balls so you could barely see his small body as he snickered in rebellion. His other friends play basketball and giggle at him. He doesn t necessarily demonstrate changeto bear a positive result; rather, he addresses that change is essential to the development of society and self and that it is important to understand and accept change. It is used as a motif in Pleasantville for the majority of the beginning of Jennifer and David s adventure (until things start to change, that is). This is especially significant with all the subtle implications and allusions to a Nazi style dictatorship. For example, the burning of books is reminiscent of that in 1936 when the German government burnt all books which would oppose its rule, in fear that the society it governed would think of rebelling. Big Bob is the obvious ruler, as he is almost always seen with a low shot, making him look big and powerful to the audience. Bob s situation is similar, burning books to stop changes occurring. Books are seen as works of art which are derived from the imagination of thinking people. Bob s censorship practices extend to the prohibition of Mr Johnson from using colours to paint (that is, from using the full extent of his imagination) in his Code of Conduct. In this way, he is much like the German government in the 30s. However, he wants to continue his rule without any violent opposition; only pleasantness . Agile Web Development Works First, and foremost, agile web development is not a specific process, action, or exercise. it s a mindset an attitude with which a project is delivered. The agile methodology puts customer first, enabling development teams to work collaboratively and readily respond to change, and to deliver the best possible product. Being agile means focused on delivering streamlined projects, not wasting time documenting every meticulous detail of a product. Instead of documentations, development teams begin working almost immediately on delivering small incremental products. These incremental products enable customers and design teams to perform frequent sanity checks, making sure they are not spending an inordinate amount of time (and money) on features that deliver little to no value. In Charles Dickens The Signalman the story starts by introducing the main character (a railway signalman). Another character is also introduced: the narrator. Dickens describes the signalmanas a dark sallow man and as having a dark beard and heavy eyebrows . It seems that Dickens wishes to portray the signalman as a dark and ominous figure. Dickens continues this suggestion (the signalman is insane) when he does finally speak. He speaks only in a low voice, adding to the suggestion of danger. Then he tells the narrator what is wrong: the ghostly sightings. This again makes us question his sanity. Dickens maintains this suspense that he has created with use of a leitmotiv of the red light, which is linked to the menacing apparition and maybe an accident on the railway. When the narrator leaves after the first visit the signalman still has not told him the full story about the apparition. We have to wait until their next meeting to find out for ourselves. • 33. Synopsis Of A Book Meridian By Alice Walker Essay Nataliya Tyshchenko Professors Aberbach, Decker, Fink GE Cluster: America in the Sixties 4 November 2016 Time Warp: Meridian In psychology, the primacy effect is defined as the tendency to recall primary information better than information divulged later on. This observation can be extended to how first impressions resonate well in the minds of humans. In her historical novel, Meridian, author Alice Walker reshapes perceptions about who holds power and moral authority and what determines this by making time out of joint (choosing an interesting narrative structure, with a most important beginning) and employing symbolism and repetition. Abandoning chronological order forces a reader to constantly abandon preconceived notion about characters, events, movements, and even themselves. As a result, the meaning of reality, life, and what is normal is resignified . The effect of narrative structure is evident when Walker s choice for the beginning of the novel affects the reader s perception of moral authority and power for the rest of the novel. By opening with multiple, and incredibly varying, definitions of the word Meridian, Walker establishes her idea that the main character is tough to pin down. Who she is will not be clear to the audience. This perhaps presages that Meridian s moral authority and power will not be easily defined or pinned down either and it is useless to try to assign a secondary meaning ( myth ) to her because it will always shift. This perspective was founded by Watson, who wanted to revolutionize the study of human psychology in order to put it on firm experimental footing. (http://www.iep.utm.edu/behavior/) Behaviorism shows the chemical responses in our brain are triggered by the external part of our bodies. For example, behaviorismexplains why we feel pleasure when we gamble, drink, smoke. Our body releases endorphins which allows us to feel pleasure from doing these things. The first time you feel the rush of gambling is what makes you want to keep gambling, even if it is not in your best interest. One of the pioneers of the behaviorism perspective was John B. Watson. He was born to a poor family in Greenville, South Carolina. When Watson was 13, his father left due to a drinking problem and his countless affairs. Watson went to the University of Chicago, which sparked his interest in behavior. He saw psychology as the study of people s actions with the ability to predict and control those actions. Also, should we also pay for the labor and other incidental costs? How should we integrate our decision into our financial books? Basic Issues: Negative Publicity: Since Oct 30th, we have encountered a self propelled negative publicity campaign against Pentium brand and it doesn t seem to fade away if we don t do anything. To find out all available options and their pros and cons my team has put together the following analysis: In one and half month the single word of one mathematician has turned into a worldwide campaign against us. AMD, Cyrix, and Nexgen are benefiting most from these events. They proved to have become quicker in manufacturing clones of our innovative products. Given this shorter time to market, they may jump on this opportunity to deliver Pentium clones any time. Our strategy to stop competitors copying our new products was heavy patent protection for the Pentium brand, however if our brand image is continually damaged to such extent, that protection would not give us the competitive advantage we expected. Although we have been the chips of choice for most of users, with the current negative publicity, the competitors may find their niche and expand their market share. Cost of switching from one type of processor to another (for example from Intel to AMD) is not significant for computer manufacturers due to the modular nature of this product. • 39. The Clarity Of Scripture Analysis Imagine yourself in a blustery sea with every human being in the world. Everyone is drowning, and the only source of life is on a ship where the captain lives. Insistently, the captain throws out life rings, but people, in the mist of their drowning, refuse and rebuke him. As ridiculous as this may sound, this is how the fallen world today responds to the message of the most influential book written, the Bible. As time passes, people pass, but Gods words will not pass away (Luke 21:33). His words are the greatest literature ever written. They are read by more people, quoted by more authors, translated into more tongues, represented in more art, are set to more music than any other book or books written by any man in any century in any land... because they are the greatest words ever spoken ... Those who do not have the work of the Holy Spirit in them will not see the truthfulness of Scripture. In addition, 2 Peter 3:16 also goes on to state that there are some things in them (the epistles) that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction. Like Jesus disciples did, we will sometimes misunderstand Scripture, but we should not believe the error is in the Bible, but with the interpretations we have made, because Christ s ways are higher than ours ways and his thoughts than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). The Death Penalty Is Wrong Sean Shen Mr. Todd Languages and Literature, E 8, Research Paper April 20th 2018 The Death Penalty is Wrong The death penalty has been considered one of the most severe punishments by governments. However, recently, many people have rebelled against the death penalty. The death penaltyis an act that is similar to being ruled under fascism instead of democracy. Under the rule of democracy, citizens are responsible for the acts of other fellow citizens, which can be inferred that crime is caused by the lack of responsibility in society. The victim s loved ones suffer due to the victim s death. It is understandable that they would want the murderer dead, but society often does not work that way. People need to think on behalf of the society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, the opposing view states that if the death penalty did not exist, then it could have a tremendous effect on society. However, that is not true. If there were no death penalty, we would still have other punishments that were used like life imprisonment. There are other forms of physical punishment such as whipping. This type of punishment would be able to take the place of the death penalty because the death penalty is just too extreme. In truth, criminals need a second chance in their life for them to succeed. Here is a quote: Hoang Vu (attempted murderer) and Terrell Carswell (cocaine trafficking and robbery) were next, pulling Burden off the deputy while David Schofield (aggravated assault and battery) grabbed Moon s radio and called for help.
