Parent Involvement Definition
II. Relevant Literature: Parent Involvement and Understandings of Bilingual Education
Parent Involvement is something that is very important and crucial when it comes to the education of
students. Especially to those students who are part of the bilingual programs, parent teacher
communication is key to success for the students. There tends to be a lack of communication between
the school and parents in which is very alarming for the reason that students are not fully getting the
education experience that they should be getting. Parents have the power and potential to influence
bilingual policies and practice at the school, district, and state wide (Lee, 1999 p. 201) levels in which
it is very important to have good relations with the parents. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Sometimes parents avoid the communication on purpose. And when they do communicate with the
teacher, the used the very little of what they know to understand and comprehend what is going on.
Gregory A.Cheatham and Sylvia Nyegenye wrote an article on how sometimes parents get the wrong
impression of teachers because of adjectives that teachers use. When there is a language barrier in
between and you use a certain words, it can be sometimes be assumed that teachers could be
stereotyping students or viewing them negatively. For that reason, we need to have a neutral wording
when talking to parents (Cheatham Nyegenye 2016) It is expressed threw out the all the articles that
although we need to inform parents, we also need to make things comprehendible for

The Pros And Cons Of Lead And Acid Battery
The lead/acid battery has been in common use in automobiles since 1915 or so. It has plates of lead in
sulphuric acid solution in water. One of the sets of lead plates is coated with lead dioxide. As such a
battery discharges it creates two chemical reactions, one at the anode that ends up with an excess of
electrons, and one at the cathode that ends up short electrons.
Fuel combustion is the process of where fuel is burnt that releases heat and light which is an
exothermic reaction meaning it releases heat. The fuel is a hydrocarbon, which reacts with oxygen to
release energy however a small amount of heat energy is needed to start fuel combustion. The
products to the reaction are carbon dioxide and water.
The car battery starts its engine it also gives power needed for stabilization as well as ... Show more

The positive side to fuel combustion is that complete combustion (taking place where there is enough
air) releases carbon dioxide instead of carbon monoxide (which is harmful) is produced. As it may
seem as a positive aspect it still can be negative too much can cause environmental issues such as
global warming. Also carbon monoxide produced in incomplete combustion can cause smog and acid
rain which has a negative effect to the environment.
As for car batteries the energy density is twice of standard nickel cadmium. This means battery pack
design are only one cell whereas if it was nickel based it may require 3 cells, which is more efficient.
However the Lithium ion in car batteries is flammable and producing the batteries require toxic
materials such as nickel and copper, which can cause cancer to respiratory problems. Not only it can
be a health problem but has an effect on the environment as well. The production of batteries cause
resource depletion and speed up global warming due to the dangerous gases it releases when

How Did Exxel Differentiate Itself From Other Private...
1) What was the key strategy that Navarro pursued from 1991 on to establish Exxel as a leading Latin
American private equity organization? How did Exxel differentiate itself from other private equity
competitors?
Juan Navarro, the former Chairman of Citigroup Capital Investors S.A. (CCI) in Buenos Aires,
founded the Exxel Group in 1991. Due to his family s influential background in Uruguayan and
Argentine political and financial establishments, as well as his own work with the CCI, Navarro was
well connected and highly experienced in the financial and political sectors, and in private equity
itself. The political situation in Latin America at the time was fairly unstable and the launching of the
modern Argentine economic policy in 1991 saw ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
buyout firms and institutions. This was again for reasons of credibility as it assured both Latin
American and U.S. investors. Furthermore, it opened up more development opportunities for their
portfolio companies, as U.S. investors could transfer their experience from the American market to the
Argentine environment.
Exxel s fund devotion was mainly to invest in buyouts, recapitalizations, privatizations and mergers of
Argentine firms. Each fund was always devoted to a single transaction, which had the advantage of
being very focused on and informed about the transaction itself, as well as all corresponding
circumstances.
To differentiate itself from other private equity groups, Exxel built on Navarro s unique strength: his
ability to originate deals, based on his strong ties with local business community [!], and then to add
value to these enterprises . Exxel also put diligent work in their target selection. To maximize the
success rates, they first picked the most attractive industries, and then chose the best firms within
those industries.
To achieve an even stronger partnership with their portfolio companies, Navarro and his team would
then work on the development of a network of service

Characteristics Of The Following Stereotypes
 What are the characteristics of the following stereotypes? o Aunt Jemima/Mammy Mammy
represented as a defense to slavery. She was born in ante bellum America and was portrayed as fat,
pitch black, and happily obedient to her master and mistress. Mammy was docile, loyal, and jovial,
and understood her value of society. She was considered the antithesis of white ladies, white ladies
being fragile and beautiful. She was also classified as sexual. In her own family, she was the leader, an
indication that black people cannot make it through society if a female was needed to give orders.

 Note the types and sheer volume of the arts/images revealed in this film. What might be the
cumulative effect of 150+ years of these images on Americans?
I noticed that the majority of the plethora of pictures shown in this video were that Blacks, women,
men, and even the children, were very dark, had eyes and lips bulging out, jovial and content with
slavery, and were usually portrayed eating watermelon. Americans seeing these pictures for 150+
years would eventually emit off the fact that most, if not all, Blacks looked like this and were content
of slavery. The pictures evoking off the savage like pictures would give off the fact that Blacks freed
from slavery would end up like this to humanity, acting all savagely to Whites. All of these caricatures
were far from the truth of the reality of how Blacks were; rather, they were drawn up by Whites who
manipulated the White society to believe that these caricatures were facts, which in reality, they were
not.
 Explain the three uses of Jim Crow: o Dance Jim Crow Dance was a dance that started on the
plantation as a result of dancing being outlawed in 1690. Dancing was said to be crossing one s feet by
the church. It was also said that slaves created a way of shuffling and sliding to safely glide around the

President Nixon Vs. Nixon In The 1960s
The 1960 presidential campaign showed to be historic in the invention of television for
advertisements, news interviews and policy debates, something that would occupy Kennedy s youthful
hands. Four debates were created between Nixon and Kennedy, and Nixon had his tactics helping him
from the beginning of it. During them, he was slowly getting better from the flu and looked exhausted,
and then when he came to the TV studio, Nixon decided to not wear much TV makeup, scared that the
press would accuse him of trying to copy Kennedy s fresh looks of his tan skin. Even though he
shaved, Nixon s five o clock shadow showed on the cameras, and his gray suit blended into the gray
background which was a difference from Kennedy s well fitted dark suit. Nixon was still trying to ...

By 1968, the nation was openly struggling over the war in Vietnam, not only on college campuses but
in mainstream media. In February, newscaster Walter Cronkite took an almost unprecedented (for him)
position, offering commentary on his recent trip to Vietnam, stating that he felt victory was not
possible and that the war would end in a stalemate. President Lyndon Johnson lamented, If I ve lost
Cronkite, I ve lost the nation. As the antiwar protest continued, Nixon s campaign stayed above the

of social conservatives who were the steady foundation of the American public. Nixon was able to
create a union of Southern and Western conservatives during the campaign. In exchange for their

Unit 1 Case Study Biometric Security
Biometric technologies have existed for quite some time. Recently, there has been a large increase in
the demand for more secure ways of confirming an individual s identity. Resulting from this, several
tests were created, which allow for a user to test another individual s personal characteristics and
behaviors, comparing them with the original. This allows for testing who an individual is , versus what
they know or carry. Biometric is defined as automated recognition of individuals based on their
biological and behavioral characteristics (biometrics institute). This is also a more reliable source of
verification because the user cannot simply lose their human characteristics. They also cannot be
faked or stole. Technology in these fields ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Literary Devices In The Great Gatsby
In this excerpt from The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, there are many literary devices that assist
the audience in understanding the narrator, Nick Carraway, and his view of the Valley of Ashes. The
word choice and details used throughout the passage greatly succeed at making the Valley it s own,
distinguishable land. In addition, Fitzgerald uses figurative language like metaphors to give the reader
a better understanding of the the depressing and dreary setting. Without the use of these devices,
Fitzgerald might not have been able to develop this recurring setting in the novel. One of the ways
Fitzgerald manages to flesh out the scenery is through the use of diction. Diction is the word choice
and the connotation of the words that are seen in the text. There is a great example of diction in the
fourth sentence of the first paragraph, where the narrator Nick Carraway uses words like bleak,
spasms, and the phrase drift endlessly to describe the Valley of Ashes. These words typically have a
negative or demoralizing connotation, which perfectly portrays how the characters feel about the
Valley and how Fitzgerald wants the audience to perceive the Valley. The specific word choice
reinforces the idea that people that live within the Valley feel stuck, and that being there for such a
long amount of time has made them lose hope that one day they would be among the debutantes of the
East and West Egg. In the same fashion, Fitzgerald develops the Valley of Ashes through

Why Did Indians Become Politically Active In The Late 1800s
Indians were becoming politically active in the late 1800s. During this period, they founded
institutions that would help end colonial rule. In 1885, Indian modernists formed the Indian National
Congress to reform Hindu and Muslim practices that did not match up to their liberal ideals and to
change British Indian policies that were opposed to democratic ideals. However, many internal issues
within the Indian culture were obstacles to independence. Most notably are the differences in language
groups. Despite these problems, a nationalist movement took root within the country that ultimately
led to the creation of India and Pakistan in 1947. There were three principles to this movement that
helped the movement succeed. The first was that National

broader context of reception into their new communities shapes the societal factors that influence their

type of parenting is permissive parenting in which parents are flexible with their children but to a
point that children have no major consequences for actions. In this parenting style Driscoll et al.

Juvenile And Juvenile Delinquency
Juvenile delinquency is a social issue in the United States today. Juvenile delinquency, is when a
violation of the law is committed by a juvenile and is not punishable by death or life imprisonment
(Juvenile Delinquency). The juvenile system is different from the adult system in many way and most
juvenile delinquents are from the age of ten to the age of seventeen (Juvenile Delinquent). Once the
delinquent or anyone is at the age of eighteen, they are considered to be an adult. Therefore, in the
justice system they are tried as an adult. There are many different reasons why a child would commit
crime, such as mental and physical factors, peer influence, home conditions, neighborhood
environment and school conditions. Teens are greatly influenced by the interactions and surroundings
they are around. Their behaviors can result from the parent and/or their peer influences. Parents play a
great role in the child s life and a teen s peers also play a strong role in how the teen behaves when the
parents are not insight. This research will examine links between the social environment of teens and
how it influences the teens actions and behavior which leads them to commit an offense.
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to determine if there is a link between the influences in a
minors life and the delinquent behavior they are committing. Juvenile delinquency is the habitual

Presentation:
The item suggested by this paper is Wool and the fare nation is Canada. The paper is intended to think
about Risk Analysis and overseeing it with Wool creation in New Zealand. New Zealand is the Second
Largest fleece fares to Canada.
Product History:
Wool is a textile fiber obtained from sheep and certain different creatures that include Goats, Muskox,
Rabbits, and different sorts of fleece from Camelid.
Wool is taken from the sheep a few times a year in New Zealand. Fleece has a few qualities that
recognize it from hair or hide, it is crimped, it is elastic, and it develops in staples (groups).
Wool is ordered into the particular gatherings. By this arrangement, processors can choose the
accurate item which they need to process, and pay the ranchers as indicated by the quality and sort of
fleece.
Sheep Shearing is the methodology by which the woolen is fleeced from a sheep. In the wake of
shearing, the fleece is differentiated into four principle classes: wool, broken, guts, and locks.
The nature of wools is dictated by a system known as fleece classing, whereby a qualified individual
called fleece classer gatherings fleeces of comparative gatherings together to pay most extreme comes

Intervention In Chile
Chile had been state of turmoil for quite a while. Communist leaders rushed to make the South
American country theirs, and the U.S tried to deter Chile from becoming another communist Cuba.
Unlike many nations in South America, Chile had a past of democratic leaders. However, a new threat
arose. A Marxist politician named Salvador Allende, founded the Socialist Party of Chile. In the year
of 1970, Allende won the Chilean Presidential race. This was a big win to the Soviets, who paid
millions in secret to help him win. This was a not so great thing for the U.S, who also paid millions to
back his non socialist opponents. Then the U.S became secretly involved in plotting against the new

Chile has been state of turmoil for quite a while. I do not believe the U.S should further aggravate the
already delicate eggshell of a situation that this current scenario is. However, I do think some positive
intervention may be beneficial. I believe that trying to negotiate with Chile s new leader may be a
good first action in trying to establish eased tensions. America is a democratic nation, and we should
protect that image. America is not imperialist, nor a nation of conquerors, but a nation of peace. Trying
to establish peace by supporting non communist leaders is not bad on it s own, but those leader s need
to be stable and trustworthy. Secretive political meddling in Chile, in my opinion, goes against the
American ideals of independence of one s own nation (Chile). The United States may gain a political
ally if intervention is proposed correctly, and perhaps even help keep Soviet backed communism
under locks in South America. However, if intervention fails, we could create a monster worse than
the current one, and create a false friend. The government under the monster could topple, and the
oppressed people may welcome what we were trying to avoid in the first scenario,

Why People Emigrate From Their Native Countries
Every year, most countries lose half of their population to migration. These countries are left behind in
the areas such as developmental and economical growth. The government and the people living in that
Country suffer the consequences such as low productivity and poor academic performance due to lack
of qualified teachers. People emigrate from their native countries for economic, familial, and
educational reasons.
Economic issues are one of the reasons people emigrate from their native land to other Countries. One
example, is the high cost of living and low wages in some native Countries. Most people in their
native land are deprived of having easy access to the most common things such as food, electricity,
and housing. The high cost of living often forces individuals to search for an alternative place to live
leading them to emigrate to a place that is more affordable. Low wages also play a big role in
migration. To elaborate, a teacher who teaches in high school in their native country obtains a much
lower hourly wage and hardly any benefits than another teacher with the same qualifications teaching
in a different country. When this happens, people in their native land have no choice but to emigrate to
a country where they can get higher wages and better benefits. As a result, the country loses its people
who would have helped move the country forward in terms of education and this results in poor
academic performance of students who are in the country. Not only do

Explain the role of discretion in the criminal justice system.
As a society we believe that offenders should be held accountable for their actions but also treated
fairly in the criminal investigation, trial process and sentencing. As a result of this, the power of
discretion, that is the ability to choose from a range of options, is granted to some authorities ensure
some flexibility for decision making within the system, enabling a more holistic outcome for all
parties involved. The issues that explore and reflect the role of discretion within our criminal justice

Meanwhile, Don Weatherburn as director of BOCSCAR expressed his concern as he stated; it is naïve
to imagine that a young offender, after years of involvement in crime, will suddenly become law
abiding . As a result, police discretion is a very important aspect of prosecuting juvenile crime, as it is
clear that in some cases going to court should be the outcome for young offenders. However the role
of discretion for police lies in being able to decide which cases and which circumstances warrant the
result of court, as opposed to the multiple alternative forms of punishment that police have the power
to enforce.
A controversial aspect of the criminal justice system is the Crown s use of discretion when it decides
to make charge negotiations. This means that the crown offers the accused a lesser charge should they
plead guilty to it. In doing so, the crown benefits from the assured conviction (maintaining peace and
security by an efficient means) and the accused benefits from a lesser sentence. However by
employing powers of discretion in this case and making a deal with offenders, is seems to be at the
expense of victims as there if insufficient retribution. The case of Nannette May (2009) epitomises the
concern of victims, as May was not given a chance to give evidence against her attacker due to his
acceptance of a

Being A Student Athlete Essay
While high school student athletes invest a lot of time and energy into their sport, the collegiate
lifestyle brings a new level of difficulty that many incoming freshmen can find intimidating and
overwhelming at first. In addition to being under more pressure to perform on a larger, more
competitive stage in front of a more expansive audience, they must also deal with the every day

Argumentative Essay On Radiocarbon Dating
Radiocarbon dating is a scientific procedure used to calculate the age of dead specimens by the rate of
decay in their levels of C 14. Radiocarbon dating methods are deeply flawed and do not reliably
determine the age of certain fossils or the earth. This is due to the assumptions that they are built upon.
These assumptions include that the conditions on the earth have always been constant and nothing has
ever caused the C 14 levels to fluctuate. These assumptions must be true for radiocarbon dating to be
reliable. However, there is a plethora of evidence showing that these assumptions cannot be trusted.
Radiocarbon dating is a heavily debated topic in the world today. This is primarily due to the powerful
implications it has on people s belief systems. Christians and atheists alike view radiocarbon dating as
important and need to be able to defend or support it. Findings through the process of radiocarbon
dating can help prove or disprove people s beliefs about the world. Radiocarbon dating will always be
a controversial method because of its impact on one s worldview. However, ... Show more content on

For radiocarbon dating to accurately date anything no matter its age, two facts must be accounted for.
The rate of decay of Carbon 14 and the amount of Carbon 14 in the creature at the time of its death
must be known. The rate of decay of Carbon 14 can be determined by its half life, which is around
5,730 years. This means that every 5,730 years the amount of Carbon 14 in an organism is cut in half.

Self Identity In Cambio De Armas
Cambio de armas
The theme in which is constantly shown throughout the novel is the concept of self identity. Identity is
a state of mind in which one identifies his or her character traits in addition to one s idea of being.
Identity indicates one s mental, emotional and physical image of which they depict themselves to be.
It also refers to the construction of individual and society s characteristics by which we are
symbolized and recognized as to who we are. The concept of self identity is used in many books and
novels in order to tie the reader to the story. This is done in a way that the write creates a character
with a loss of self identity that will then allow the reader to relate to. The theme of identity is often

It is the belief in this existence of one s self, the assumption of all our experiences of consciousness.
We all embrace this identity that we feel is ours alone. I speak of my experiences as experienced by
me. I would seem to be talking nonsense, if I referred to myself in the plural or spoke of how the
multiplicity of me s experienced an event. Although most will submit to the existence of levels of
consciousness, we categorize those people who exhibit distinct personalities as non ordinary. All
popular theories of self identity set about the task of proving a singular self. I will attempt to analyze
the currently held theories of self identity, and consider cases where the singular self identity of
normal individuals is called into question. Psychologists seeking to clarify this discussion have
researched phenomena concerning the nature of self identity, and it s relation with consciousness.
The second concept is the Random Identities. This ties in with the first concept of divided identity
because she is unable to give one single identity to the man. The author states on page one of the
novel: Next is the man: the one, he, the nameless man who she can call by which ever name that
comes to mind; they all function the same, and they all fit him. And when he comes in the house he
answers even if she calls him Hugo, Sebastian, Ignacio, Alfredo or whatever else. She refers to him in
her mind as the nameless one .

Human Embryonic Stem Cells
The human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) have defined by Bryant and Schwartz (2008) is in the
mammalian embryo, there are several cell divisions that take place after the fertilization of the sperm
and the egg in the uterus. There is no growth in the total volume of the cell, so the cells that are known
as blastomeres get progressively smaller. Then, they are rearranging into a hollow ball known as
blastocyst and surround the blastocoel which is a fluid filled cavity. The blastocyts and then segregate
into an outer layer called tropoblast and an inner cell mass (ICM). The tropoblast will form the
placenta to the fetus while the inner cell mass that contains human embryonic stem cell will form the
tissues of the fetus. According to Sandel and Phil (2004), the hESCs can cure and provide treatment
for many kinds of disease such as Parkinson, Alzheimer, diabetes and spinal cord injury. But, ethical
issues of hESCs research, therefore, overlap with those of the embryo research. On top of that, De
Wert and Mummery (2003) commented that the research of hESCs has high political and ethical
agenda in many countries. Their use in the treatment of disease remains controversial regardless of
their potential benefit. This is because their derivation from the early embryo. As Fischbach,
Fischbach and others (2004) observe:
Human embryonic stem cells offer the promise of a new regenerative medicine in which damaged
adult cells can be replaced with new cells. Research is needed to determine

Gold IRA Research Paper
Throughout history there s been an incredible interest associated with the investment of gold. It s no
surprise that this special type of the retirement plan is attracting investors with an interest in precious
metals and a desire to put gold into an investment fund. The first step is to speak with a qualified
professional to answer questions and assist in setting up the account to meet the requirements as an
IRA. History tells the story of precious metals with gold increasing in value over and over. In today s
economy like all other commodities, the price of gold fluctuates but, typically holds its value through
economic conditions, making it a commodity that can be liquidated if needed. Before deciding to

Cultural Differences In Islam, Judaism, And Christianity
All around the world, each year, believers of various religions come together to celebrate feasts,
commemorating a variety of topics and events. The religions of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are
three global religions around the world with their own belief systems and ethical morals. But despite
having these different beliefs, all three religions have their fair share of similarities and differences in
their celebrations, ranging from their method of celebration to the purpose of each feast. These
similarities and contrasts are seen in the feast reflection periods of Rosh Ha Shanah, Muharram, and
Lent, found in Judaism, Islam, and Christianity respectively, and is also seen in the global celebrations
of Chanukah, Eid al Fitr, and Christmas, also found in Judaism, Islam, and Christianity respectively.

Le Lean And Lean
Introduction Lean Principles have been essential to numerous organisations all over the world for
achieving outstanding results in terms of efficiency, quality and manufacturing times. Large
organisations are especially acknowledged to implement lean principles successfully. However, in
recent years small and medium sized enterprises have been in emphasis due to their flexibility and
capabilities that provides the necessary robustness in the global economic crisis (Matt , 2007).
Therefore, this paper will critically appraise and assess two separate case studies by authors Matt and
Rauch (2013) and Kumar et al. (2006) respectively. The two case studies, provided by these respective
authors, revolve around SMEs in two different countries. This paper will identify lean elements along
with their motivations behind their lean implementations and identify the main differences and
similarities between the two case studies in terms of general lean literature. Finally, a list of
recommendations will be given to each case study and how their individual companies can improve
the success of their lean adoption. The Case Studies Lean Adoption The first case study is a SME,
situated in the north of Italy. The firm started in 1995 and employs around 25 persons. With a small

Native American Themes In Louise Erdrich s Antelope Wife
Louise Erdrich is a Native American author from Little Falls, Minnesota. Her mother is a Chippewa
Indian and her father is German American. Through her writing, she demonstrates native ideas and
culture. Native American themes are often present in her works. She shines a light on both
perspectives of her background. Some of her works mention reservations in Minnesota and North
Dakota which connects to her birthplace and where she grew up. Erdrich did not really look into her
native heritage until she went to Dartmouth and they had just opened the Native American department.
She delved more into the subject and started to use it in her writing. Erdrich gives readers, whether or
not they are Native American or not, a look at Native American culture from the eyes of both natives
and others in society. This theme is present in many of her works including: Antelope Wife and Future
Home of a Living God. Antelope Wife is a short story by Louise Erdrich. Antelope Wife is about a
Native American man belonging to the Chippewa tribe in Minnesota who is a teacher. One day he laid
his eyes on four women: three daughters and their mother. He was determined to have the mother and
he ends up kidnapping her. He gets her (the antelope) to fall in love with her, but he was warned by
Jimmy Badger that these women are generally curse the men who go after them. Towards the end of
the story, she becomes overweight and ugly and the man did not expect this to happen to him. There is
already a connection to native culture in the title of this short story, Antelope . Antelope is a spirit
animal in the native heritage. Antelope symbolizes being on the movie and action oriented. Deep in
the fields of tall golden grasses in the desert the Antelope thrives, ever watchful and discerning ready
to move in an instant. The Antelope perceives subtle body movements and signals from the other
members of the herd. When danger is near they move as one, quickly and confidently with finesse and
confidence, their maneuverability allows them to disappear into the vast expanse of wilderness with
no more than a moments notice. (Universe of Symbolism, Antelope). This symbolism is referred to
towards the end of the poem by Jimmy Badger. If you see one

Examples Of Archetypal Criticism
CHAPTER II Archetypal criticism
The roots of archetypal criticism
Archetypal criticism is a type of literary criticism that focuses on particular narrative patterns,
archetypes, motifs, themes or characters that recur in a particular literary work or in literature in
general.
Archetypal criticism has its basis in the application of concepts developed in psychoanalysis and in
mythology to the study of literature. The main tendency of this approach to criticism resembles to the
early conception of form in Western thought.
Collective unconscious lays beneath the personal conscious and personal unconscious. As Jung said,
the collective unconscious is a storehouse of knowledge, experiences, and images of the human race.

As Joseph Campbell says in his popular book The Power of Myth: Myths deal with great human
problems. I know what to do when I come to a threshold in my life now. A myth can tell me about it,
how to respond to certain crises of disappointment or delight or failure or success. Myths tell me
where I am. (1988, 15) An archetype can be defined as an original type or model after which similar
things are patterned, a prototype, an ideal example. An archetype, as used in literature, is a recurrent,
universal pattern that evokes a deep, emotional response invirtually all readers as it strikes a chord in
their unconscious memory. The archetype has no form of its own, but it acts as an organizing principle
on the things we see or do. It works the way that instincts work in Freud s theory.
For Jung the archetypes taken as a whole represent the sum of the latent potentialities of the human
psyche a vast store of ancestral knowledge about the profound relations between God, man, and
cosmos. Jacobi

Examples Of Gender Inequality In Cry The Beloved Country
During the 1950 s, oppression of black south africans was a prominent issue ongoing in South Africa.
Alan Paton, writer of Cry, The Beloved Country, illustrates the loss of humanity because of apartheid
throughout the novel. However, one topic left unaddressed in Cry, The Beloved Country is the
underlying issue of gender inequality in apartheid South Africa. Women s inferiority to men is
illustrated through the service oriented roles that characters such as Ms. Lithebe and Mrs. Kumalo
portray throughout the novel, as opposed to the authoritative positions that most men in the novel
hold. Women like Absalom s wife (the pregnant girl) and Gertrude also fall to the superiority of men
but on a different level, forced into sexualized roles for survival after their husbands/boyfriends leave
them. Portrayed through the morally depraved gender stereotypes, the voiceless and nameless women
of South Africa, and the homebound women of Johannesburg, Alan Paton s lack of development of
women s roles in society mirrors the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Kumalo s equivalent choices left undiscussed. Furthermore, Absalom s girlfriend, a pregnant

only serving others. Ultimately, it was South Africa s many homebound women that embodied women
s oppression, their presence being limited to the confines of their own homes. All this evidence goes to
further prove the lack of female prevalence in a South African Society. On the whole, it is crucial to
look deeper into the deep rooted issues of Cry, the Beloved Country, and to wonder what other
underlying issues were neglected throughout the

they were before. Dreamland possesses witty yet literal titles such as Delivered Like Pizza which

According to mayo clinic, alcoholism is an inability to control the desire to consume alcoholic

Online Education
Education is becoming one of the most essential things in a person s life. Nowadays, many individuals
are looking to go the extra mile and further their education. This is because numerous employers
require a degree and a significant amount of experience in order to become eligible for certain
occupations. The next question to consider is how to go about this. Younger adults with minimal
responsibilities unquestionably have a broader range of options. As for working adults who have kids
and obligations that hold them back, attending classes multiple times a week may seem tough and out
of the question.
Thankfully, the progression of technology has had a major impact on education. The implementation
of education was only in a traditional setting before this advancement of technology. Currently, this
has altered. With the outburst of the technology industry in the past 15 years, online education has
helped people from all walks of life continue and further their education. This ultimately leaves us
with a concern on the quality of the education provided. There are several things to consider when
choosing which route one should pursue. Before committing to any specific degree program, one
should weigh and evaluate their options based on what is important and vital to them. Despite sharing
many apparent similarities, the difference between both

Decolonization Of The British Empire
Decolonization in the British Empire is a deliberate process involving the colonial power and
emerging local elite. The discussions in Chapters 1 and 2 provide insights into colonial development
and the pre independence environment which provide context for answering the research questions
and testing the hypotheses. This chapter examines the first question why do some newly sovereign
states retain ties with the JCPC? Based on my theory that states chose the final appellant court it
expects to be a reliable partner in the new governing coalition. The emerging elite that form the
coalition are influence by the colonial experience of colony. For the purposes of this research the U.K.
s Westminster Act of 1931 or the official year of independence is considered the critical juncture. The
Westminster Act gives the Dominions Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, the option to abolish
appeals to the JCPC. The critical juncture for all other states is the year of independence starting with
India and Sri Lanka in 1948 to the most recent, Brunei, in 1984. I hypothesize that the longer length of
time the state was a colony increases the likelihood that the JCPC will be retained. Second, type of
colonial rule direct rule (as opposed to indirect) increases the likelihood that the JCPC will be retained
as the final appellant court at independence. This chapter proceeds in the following manner. First, I

Sexual Deprivation Increases Ethanol Intake in Drosophila
G. Shohat Ophir, K. R. Kaun, R. Azanchi, U. Heberlein
There is scientific consensus today that addiction is a chronic disease that changes both brain structure
and function, as abnormal functioning of the brain s reward system (the nucleus accumbens) has been
associated with addictive behavior, originating either from a psychoactive drug, a monetary reward, a
sexual encounter, or a satisfying meal. Drosophila melanogaster, a fruit fly was used in these
experiments to further explain attraction for alcohol containing foods, and the effect of social
experiences on behavior.
The researchers used two different sexual experiences to generate two cohorts of male flies. The first
cohort, rejected isolated, was subjected to courtship conditioning; they experienced 1 hour sessions of
sexual rejection by mated females, three times a day, for 4 days. Such conditioning suppresses future
male courtship behavior, even toward receptive virgin females. The second cohort of mated grouped
flies experienced 6 hour sessions of mating with multiple receptive virgin females at a ratio of 1:5 for
4 days. Flies from each cohort were then tested in a two choice preference assay, in which they
deliberately choose to consume food with or without 15% ethanol supplementation.
There was a significant difference between the 2 cohorts of drosophila in different respects such as

APA Code Of Ethics In Organizational Psychology
Milestone Three
Vignette
Vignette 10 53, page 341, Professor Mann harangues Ms. Freeman for not understanding some
concepts in his organizational psychology course. He uses her questions to berate her, and all women,
claiming that women do not have a head for business or organizational psychology. His discrimination
against women is unethical, as is his abuse of power over his students (Koocher Keith Spiegel, 2016).
The APA Code of Ethics Principles
1. Beneficence and Nonmaleficence
Psychological professionals need to help those with whom they work with or help, and make an effort
to do no harm. This includes conflict resolution with coworkers, student, clients, and participants, as
well as ensuring that any personal, financial, social, organizational or political factors are considered
(Code of Ethics, 2017). Professor Mann berated his student in front of his class, he discriminated
against women as a whole, and caused harm to the women s movement, as well as the women in his
class.
2. Fidelity and Responsibility
Professional psychologists understand their responsibility, both professional and scientific, within the
communities they live and work. They will behave in a professional manner, and accept responsibility
for their behavior. Professional psychologists are aware of, and abide by ethical standards, and expect
those they work with to, as well (Code of Ethics, 2017). Professor Mann did not behave in a

Politics In Dante s Inferno
In Dante s inferno, the author makes various references to the political scene that was occurring in
Florence, Italy around the 1200s. When he discusses certain political figures, or racial groups, it is
often with an extreme disdain During the 1240s the political factions, the Guelphs, were established.
The GUelphs was once one political group, however after a feud developed over a murder, the
political party was divided into two factions: Blacks and Whites. The White Guelphs was the
moderate factions, while the Black Guelphs shown to be pure papal and an extreme faction. Dante had
an increasing interest in politics and wanted limited papal authority, in that actively he associated
himself with the White Guelphs. Dante s decision to join

Negans outlook on life is something that has changed in this show, the first time he appears he is
ruthless and is portrayed to have no feelings, but as season 8 gets going he gets questioned by Father
Gabriel about the lifes he has taken. Negan answers him by saying I haven t killed anybody that hasn t
need it. Negans Character becomes somewhat like able, he still is the villain but he becomes more
aware of the things he is doing. One thing I got from the previous quote was that he didn t kill
someone that did didn t need it, I feel like Negan is doing good in his eyes and that he simply is just
trying to protect his people. Although he killed people for wrong reasons at times he still shows
compassion for life that is deserved. In season 8 episode 5 Negan and Father Gabriel are trapped in a
RV together and Negan has many chances to kill Gabriel but he not only lets him live they both work
together to break out and make it back to where the Saviors

Homer Hickam s October Sky
Everyone is told at a very young age that they can be whatever they want to be. But is this really true?
In our day and age, with technology advancing daily, many young people find that it isn t as easy to
follow one s dreams as is portrayed in fairy tales. October Sky is like these books, as it shows boys
following their dreams by creating homemade rockets. But what makes this seemingly unrealistic
book stand out from the rest is its ability to inspire. This book intrigues the reader and draws them in
as it shows the characters as they learn. As a true story, the author Homer Hickam writes about himself
as the main character in the story of his life. He writes about his group of friends as they come
together and decide to create rockets.

Thales Of Miletus And The Elastic School Of Philosophy
From Thales of Miletus, the first ancient Greek philosopher, to Socrates and Aristotle, ancient Greek
philosophy has set the standard for modern intellectual and rational thought. They developed new
ways of reasoning and logic to explain the natural phenomena that surround them. Reality, existence,
and the essence of things were the basis of what these philosophers sought to rationalize. In this paper,
I will be discussing the epistemology and ontology presented by The Eleatics, the Pluralists, and The
Atomists. These three Pre Socratic schools often opposed one another s epistemological and
ontological views. However, each critic resulted in even more theories and laws that we still use to
this day. Their works also improved the standard for argument which became of great use to the future
Classical and modern philosophers.
The Eleatics
The Elastic School of Philosophy, established by Parmenides in the fifth century, was best known for
the development of early philosophers including Zeno of Elea and Xenophanes of Colophon. The
Elastics works often pointed to their use of logic and reason rather than sense experience to find the
ultimate truths . These ultimate truths were concerned with the Being and Becoming of things rather
than the origin of the things themselves. In this section, we are going to focus primarily on the school
s prominent advocates: Parmenides, writer of On Nature, and Zeno, founder of the dialectic method.
Together, Parmenides and Zeno laid the

I Didn t Learn From This System
The majority of my time in school was spent on busywork and note taking for tests. There was very
little room for exploration or the research into the details of various topics that caught my attention.
Everything was always simple and straightforward: this is what you need to know because this is what
will be on the tests and scoring well on the test is how you pass. I didn t learn much from this system.
In fact, almost all of that information was completely forgotten by the time the next year rolled
around.
There were some exceptions, however, most notably my high school biology class. My biology
teacher went above and beyond to teach us that biology is fundamental to our daily lives and
encouraged us to examine the various ways in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then explains that while the US department of education has taken steps to include global
knowledge in its curriculum, many schools are underprepared to teach it given the current set up of
our education system, with standardized testing and traditional achievement consuming too much of
the student s time to allow for broader thinking. He then addresses the ideals that should be cultivated
in our classrooms and introduces the program World Savvy. He explains what it is, how it has been
largely successful, and some of the ways in which teachers are using it in their lesson planning. He
concludes the article by including quotes from a couple of the founders of World Savvy, who argues
that our aversion to complexity in our education system is a hurtle that we must overcome and that the
condition we live in is fundamentally global . Bornstein grips his reader s attention right of the bat by
informing them of results of a survey conducted by National Geographic that tested the global literacy
of college students in America, and then included the survey for his readers to test themselves. He
reveals that less than 30 percent passed this short quiz, a troubling number, and even more alarming if
the reader reaches the end of the article and discovers that they, like myself, barely passed or even
failed. This draws in his audience, which, given that

The Battle Of War Among The Packs
Two years ago, I stood where I stand now with nothing but sorrow in my heart. I watched my loved
ones die in the hands of those I call fellow wolves. My mother, father, and older brother are now gone
and The Moon Pack are held responsible.
They were vicious, cold blooded werewolves that kill will anyone who dared to oppose them. The
pack consists of rogues from other packs which proved problematic. Their reckless actions caused a
rift between packs, threatening the alliance. Thus, a treaty was formed to prevent an outbreak of war
among the packs.

white lilies was in her grasp. I figured you would be here, She said as she walked toward me.
Rose strolled pass me and directed her attention to the memorial. She placed the flowers atop of the
stone then said a prayer.
She and I were the sole survivors of our pack. It would be our job to reproduce but I don t see that
happening anytime soon. Rose didn t desire a mate and neither did I.
A mate will only bring unwanted drama for me so I rid myself of the thought. I couldn t protect my
pack, therefore, I shouldn t bring a mate in the face of danger. If she were to get hurt in any way I ll
never be able to forgive myself.
Rose step to me and open her mouth to speak. Have you eaten today? she asked.
Yeah I lied smoothly.
On this day, the anniversary of the unfateful slaughter, I did nothing but sulk in misery. For hours, I
would sit here, reminiscing about the bittersweet memories. All while filled with emotions such as
anger and sadness.
Rose step closer and took my hand. Scar...let it go She pressed her hand to my cheek. Her soft touch

  • 2. Parent Involvement Definition II. Relevant Literature: Parent Involvement and Understandings of Bilingual Education Parent Involvement is something that is very important and crucial when it comes to the education of students. Especially to those students who are part of the bilingual programs, parent teacher communication is key to success for the students. There tends to be a lack of communication between the school and parents in which is very alarming for the reason that students are not fully getting the education experience that they should be getting. Parents have the power and potential to influence bilingual policies and practice at the school, district, and state wide (Lee, 1999 p. 201) levels in which it is very important to have good relations with the parents. ... When there is a language barrier in between and you use a certain words, it can be sometimes be assumed that teachers could be stereotyping students or viewing them negatively. • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Lead And Acid Battery The lead/acid battery has been in common use in automobiles since 1915 or so. It has plates of lead in sulphuric acid solution in water. One of the sets of lead plates is coated with lead dioxide. As such a battery discharges it creates two chemical reactions, one at the anode that ends up with an excess of electrons, and one at the cathode that ends up short electrons. Fuel combustion is the process of where fuel is burnt that releases heat and light which is an exothermic reaction meaning it releases heat. The fuel is a hydrocarbon, which reacts with oxygen to release energy however a small amount of heat energy is needed to start fuel combustion. The products to the reaction are carbon dioxide and water. The car battery starts its engine it also gives power needed for stabilization as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also carbon monoxide produced in incomplete combustion can cause smog and acid rain which has a negative effect to the environment. As for car batteries the energy density is twice of standard nickel cadmium. This means battery pack design are only one cell whereas if it was nickel based it may require 3 cells, which is more efficient. However the Lithium ion in car batteries is flammable and producing the batteries require toxic materials such as nickel and copper, which can cause cancer to respiratory problems. • 4. How Did Exxel Differentiate Itself From Other Private... 1) What was the key strategy that Navarro pursued from 1991 on to establish Exxel as a leading Latin American private equity organization? How did Exxel differentiate itself from other private equity competitors? Juan Navarro, the former Chairman of Citigroup Capital Investors S.A. (CCI) in Buenos Aires, founded the Exxel Group in 1991. Due to his family s influential background in Uruguayan and Argentine political and financial establishments, as well as his own work with the CCI, Navarro was well connected and highly experienced in the financial and political sectors, and in private equity itself. Furthermore, it opened up more development opportunities for their portfolio companies, as U.S. investors could transfer their experience from the American market to the Argentine environment. Exxel s fund devotion was mainly to invest in buyouts, recapitalizations, privatizations and mergers of Argentine firms. Each fund was always devoted to a single transaction, which had the advantage of being very focused on and informed about the transaction itself, as well as all corresponding circumstances. To differentiate itself from other private equity groups, Exxel built on Navarro s unique strength: his ability to originate deals, based on his strong ties with local business community [!], and then to add value to these enterprises . Exxel also put diligent work in their target selection. To maximize the success rates, they first picked the most attractive industries, and then chose the best firms within those industries. This symbolized black children as being savage.  Note the types and sheer volume of the arts/images revealed in this film. What might be the cumulative effect of 150+ years of these images on Americans? I noticed that the majority of the plethora of pictures shown in this video were that Blacks, women, men, and even the children, were very dark, had eyes and lips bulging out, jovial and content with slavery, and were usually portrayed eating watermelon. Americans seeing these pictures for 150+ years would eventually emit off the fact that most, if not all, Blacks looked like this and were content of slavery. The pictures evoking off the savage like pictures would give off the fact that Blacks freed from slavery would end up like this to humanity, acting all savagely to Whites. All of these caricatures were far from the truth of the reality of how Blacks were; rather, they were drawn up by Whites who manipulated the White society to believe that these caricatures were facts, which in reality, they were not.  Explain the three uses of Jim Crow: o Dance Jim Crow Dance was a dance that started on the plantation as a result of dancing being outlawed in 1690. • 8. Literary Devices In The Great Gatsby In this excerpt from The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, there are many literary devices that assist the audience in understanding the narrator, Nick Carraway, and his view of the Valley of Ashes. The word choice and details used throughout the passage greatly succeed at making the Valley it s own, distinguishable land. In addition, Fitzgerald uses figurative language like metaphors to give the reader a better understanding of the the depressing and dreary setting. Without the use of these devices, Fitzgerald might not have been able to develop this recurring setting in the novel. One of the ways Fitzgerald manages to flesh out the scenery is through the use of diction. Diction is the word choice and the connotation of the words that are seen in the text. There is a great example of diction in the fourth sentence of the first paragraph, where the narrator Nick Carraway uses words like bleak, spasms, and the phrase drift endlessly to describe the Valley of Ashes. These words typically have a negative or demoralizing connotation, which perfectly portrays how the characters feel about the Valley and how Fitzgerald wants the audience to perceive the Valley. The specific word choice reinforces the idea that people that live within the Valley feel stuck, and that being there for such a long amount of time has made them lose hope that one day they would be among the debutantes of the East and West Egg. • 16. Why People Emigrate From Their Native Countries Every year, most countries lose half of their population to migration. These countries are left behind in the areas such as developmental and economical growth. The government and the people living in that Country suffer the consequences such as low productivity and poor academic performance due to lack of qualified teachers. People emigrate from their native countries for economic, familial, and educational reasons. Economic issues are one of the reasons people emigrate from their native land to other Countries. One example, is the high cost of living and low wages in some native Countries. Most people in their native land are deprived of having easy access to the most common things such as food, electricity, and housing. The high cost of living often forces individuals to search for an alternative place to live leading them to emigrate to a place that is more affordable. Low wages also play a big role in migration. To elaborate, a teacher who teaches in high school in their native country obtains a much lower hourly wage and hardly any benefits than another teacher with the same qualifications teaching in a different country. When this happens, people in their native land have no choice but to emigrate to a country where they can get higher wages and better benefits. As a result, the country loses its people who would have helped move the country forward in terms of education and this results in poor academic performance of students who are in the country. Meanwhile, Don Weatherburn as director of BOCSCAR expressed his concern as he stated; it is naïve to imagine that a young offender, after years of involvement in crime, will suddenly become law abiding . As a result, police discretion is a very important aspect of prosecuting juvenile crime, as it is clear that in some cases going to court should be the outcome for young offenders. However the role of discretion for police lies in being able to decide which cases and which circumstances warrant the result of court, as opposed to the multiple alternative forms of punishment that police have the power to enforce. A controversial aspect of the criminal justice system is the Crown s use of discretion when it decides to make charge negotiations. This means that the crown offers the accused a lesser charge should they plead guilty to it. In doing so, the crown benefits from the assured conviction (maintaining peace and security by an efficient means) and the accused benefits from a lesser sentence. However by employing powers of discretion in this case and making a deal with offenders, is seems to be at the expense of victims as there if insufficient retribution. College athletes have to have their routines extremely time focused, and make time management essential to their daily lives. Despite the many stereotypes that are connected with being a student athlete, student athletes in general are held to much higher standards by their institutions. Before a prospective student athlete even enters college, they are made fully aware of the academic standings and requirements of the college they choose. • 21. Argumentative Essay On Radiocarbon Dating Radiocarbon dating is a scientific procedure used to calculate the age of dead specimens by the rate of decay in their levels of C 14. Radiocarbon dating methods are deeply flawed and do not reliably determine the age of certain fossils or the earth. This is due to the assumptions that they are built upon. These assumptions include that the conditions on the earth have always been constant and nothing has ever caused the C 14 levels to fluctuate. These assumptions must be true for radiocarbon dating to be reliable. However, there is a plethora of evidence showing that these assumptions cannot be trusted. Radiocarbon dating is a heavily debated topic in the world today. This is primarily due to the powerful implications it has on people s belief systems. Christians and atheists alike view radiocarbon dating as important and need to be able to defend or support it. Findings through the process of radiocarbon dating can help prove or disprove people s beliefs about the world. For radiocarbon dating to accurately date anything no matter its age, two facts must be accounted for. The rate of decay of Carbon 14 and the amount of Carbon 14 in the creature at the time of its death must be known. The rate of decay of Carbon 14 can be determined by its half life, which is around 5,730 years. This means that every 5,730 years the amount of Carbon 14 in an organism is cut in half. As a result, the amount of Carbon 14 would eventually dissipate to nothing in every organism after its death. Because of this, radiocarbon dating has a limit to its accuracy. Many times, scientists will claim that an organism was dated to be many millions of years old. However, according to the half life of Carbon 14 and the limits that it possesses, this is ... Human Embryonic Stem Cells The human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) have defined by Bryant and Schwartz (2008) is in the mammalian embryo, there are several cell divisions that take place after the fertilization of the sperm and the egg in the uterus. There is no growth in the total volume of the cell, so the cells that are known as blastomeres get progressively smaller. Then, they are rearranging into a hollow ball known as blastocyst and surround the blastocoel which is a fluid filled cavity. The blastocyts and then segregate into an outer layer called tropoblast and an inner cell mass (ICM). He was determined to have the mother and he ends up kidnapping her. He gets her (the antelope) to fall in love with her, but he was warned by Jimmy Badger that these women are generally curse the men who go after them. Drosophila melanogaster, a fruit fly was used in these experiments to further explain attraction for alcohol containing foods, and the effect of social experiences on behavior. The researchers used two different sexual experiences to generate two cohorts of male flies. The first cohort, rejected isolated, was subjected to courtship conditioning; they experienced 1 hour sessions of sexual rejection by mated females, three times a day, for 4 days. Such conditioning suppresses future male courtship behavior, even toward receptive virgin females. The second cohort of mated grouped flies experienced 6 hour sessions of mating with multiple receptive virgin females at a ratio of 1:5 for 4 days. This includes conflict resolution with coworkers, student, clients, and participants, as well as ensuring that any personal, financial, social, organizational or political factors are considered (Code of Ethics, 2017). Professor Mann berated his student in front of his class, he discriminated against women as a whole, and caused harm to the women s movement, as well as the women in his class. 2. Fidelity and Responsibility Professional psychologists understand their responsibility, both professional and scientific, within the communities they live and work. They will behave in a professional manner, and accept responsibility for their behavior. Professional psychologists are aware of, and abide by ethical standards, and expect those they work with to, as well (Code of Ethics, 2017). • 47. Thales Of Miletus And The Elastic School Of Philosophy From Thales of Miletus, the first ancient Greek philosopher, to Socrates and Aristotle, ancient Greek philosophy has set the standard for modern intellectual and rational thought. They developed new ways of reasoning and logic to explain the natural phenomena that surround them. Reality, existence, and the essence of things were the basis of what these philosophers sought to rationalize. In this paper, I will be discussing the epistemology and ontology presented by The Eleatics, the Pluralists, and The Atomists. These three Pre Socratic schools often opposed one another s epistemological and ontological views. However, each critic resulted in even more theories and laws that we still use to this day. Their works also improved the standard for argument which became of great use to the future Classical and modern philosophers. The Eleatics The Elastic School of Philosophy, established by Parmenides in the fifth century, was best known for the development of early philosophers including Zeno of Elea and Xenophanes of Colophon. The Elastics works often pointed to their use of logic and reason rather than sense experience to find the ultimate truths . These ultimate truths were concerned with the Being and Becoming of things rather than the origin of the things themselves. In this section, we are going to focus primarily on the school s prominent advocates: Parmenides, writer of On Nature, and Zeno, founder of the dialectic method. Together, Parmenides and Zeno laid the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. I Didn t Learn From This System The majority of my time in school was spent on busywork and note taking for tests. There was very little room for exploration or the research into the details of various topics that caught my attention. Everything was always simple and straightforward: this is what you need to know because this is what will be on the tests and scoring well on the test is how you pass. I didn t learn much from this system. In fact, almost all of that information was completely forgotten by the time the next year rolled around. There were some exceptions, however, most notably my high school biology class. My biology teacher went above and beyond to teach us that biology is fundamental to our daily lives and encouraged us to examine the various ways in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He then addresses the ideals that should be cultivated in our classrooms and introduces the program World Savvy. He explains what it is, how it has been largely successful, and some of the ways in which teachers are using it in their lesson planning. He concludes the article by including quotes from a couple of the founders of World Savvy, who argues that our aversion to complexity in our education system is a hurtle that we must overcome and that the condition we live in is fundamentally global . Bornstein grips his reader s attention right of the bat by informing them of results of a survey conducted by National Geographic that tested the global literacy of college students in America, and then included the survey for his readers to test themselves.
