The Premier Artists Of The Italian High Renaissance
To start with, it seems important for me to define the concept artistic genius , which sheds the light
upon the mission any craftsman is going to manage. As far as I understood, the genius is the natural
talent or the outstanding skill, which allows the individual to perceive the objects and phenomena of
the everyday reality in the unconventional way. At the same time, the word artistic implies the
connection to any form of art: drawing, painting, sculpture and so on. All together, the artistic genius
is viewed by me as the complex of the intrinsic qualities, which finds its obvious embodiment in the
creative work. Therefore, by creating the particular piece of art, the maker is intended to transmit the
specific idea to the general public, which presupposes both the instruction and entertainment. ... Show

In this concern, the core characteristic of this period is the portrayal of the nudity and the natural
world (The Premier Artists of the Italian High Renaissance). This provides an explanation to the
renewed interest to the ancient culture, especially Greek and Roman, as well as the change of the
artistic canons. Here, it should be stressed that the High Renaissance has initiated the cult of
humanism, according to which, the man has been treated as the visual proof of God s power.
Moreover, the work of art has been considered as the result of the marvellous and hard labor rather
than the craft itself (The Premier Artists of the Italian High Renaissance). All in all, these changes are
said by the scholars to be one of the most crucial moments in the history of art due to the number of

Characteristics Of Feral Pigs
Feral Pigs By Jessica Hollitt
Feral pigs were introduced by the early European settlers in 1788. Pigs were used as domesticated
companions of the Europeans as they moved around Australia. After time, these animals escaped from
captivity and their population began to increase dramatically. Feral pigs have a huge negative impact
on the native vegetation, environment and agriculture. They have very destructive habits when feeding
and foraging. They can cause erosion of soil and fouling of watering points with their wallowing.
Feral pigs need satisfactory supplies of food and water and enough shelter for protection against
extremes of temperature. Feral pigs can be found in areas with these conditions including rainforests,
monsoon forest patches, paperbark swamps, open flood plains, marsh areas, semi arid flood plains, dry
woodlands and subalpine grasslands and forests.
They are a medium to large sized animal with a short stubby snout, sported by a short neck. The body
of a feral pig is rounded. They have small eyes, and large ears with points. Feral pigs are four legged
animals with four toes of each foot. Their tail is generally curled or straight covered with hair and they
are covered in fur and have very thick skin which helps to insulate their body temperature.
Feral pigs are omnivores, preferring succulent green vegetation, fruit, grain, and a wide variety of
animal meat including, frogs, reptiles, birds, small mammals; and carrion. They also feed on
underground plants such as root, bulbs, corms, and fungi. As a result of fossicking for food. The vast
diet of feral pigs can cause severe environmental damage to vegetation. Feral pigs can also cause
erosion of soil and damage to the native species of animals and vegetation. The requirement of protein
and energy in a pig s diet is very high. This is needed for breeding, successful lactation and growth of
young.
Feral pigs restrict their activities to cool parts of the day such as dusk and dawn. Throughout hot
weather, pigs become primarily nocturnal, and in cooler weather the inactivity is generally throughout
the middle of the day. Feral pigs create and use trails to easily travel to and from places such

The Harm Principle In John Stuart Mill s On Liberty
The dominant idea of John Stuart Mill s On Liberty is the harm principle, the assertion that society can
only intervene with the action of an individual when said action harms or heightens the probability of
harm to another individual without their consent. However Mill offers in addition a noteworthy caveat
to the harm principle. He asserts that society can also intervene when the choice of the individual is to
irrevocably surrender their liberty even when said action harms only themselves
This exception to the harm principle emphasizes its purpose, the preservation of liberty which he
deems to be a necessary condition for the cultivation of progress in society. The responsibility of
accomplishing this progress he lays upon the backs of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let us imagine a kingdom which shares both its northern and its southern borders with hostile states.
The son of the king informs him that the state to the north is readying their army for an invasion to
exterminate the kingdom s people. A courtier has heard the prince discussing a plan to divert the royal
army in order to allow the southern neighbor to invade the kingdom and slaughter its people in
exchange for a sum of gold. If the king s power is unlimited and the advocate of any opinion which he
dislikes can be punished merely because he dislikes it, the courtier will naturally hesitate in expressing
what he knows for fear he will not be believed and face execution for his insult upon the royal family.
If faced with a sufficient probability of death from informing the king and from the invading army
from the south, the courtier would choose, if he were to obey Hobbes s right of nature, to flee the
kingdom without providing any warning. In an atmosphere of liberty, as would exist if the king had
bound been bound by the harm principle, the courtier may declare what he has heard. He would face
no dilemma, because the threat of death for informing the king would disappear, if the king does not
believe him, he has not forfeited the opportunity for escape

Who Is Elie Wiesel Dehumanized In The Book Night
Elie Wiesel is a Jewish teenager. He leads a very religious life until he, and thousands of other Jews
are placed into concentration camps. Throughout his book, Night, we learn about the struggles in the
concentration camp. They are forced to do hard labor, sleep in freezing temperatures, and eat very
little while being subject to watching hundreds die every day for no reason other than their faith. They
were being dehumanized. Elie has had to witness things that somebody his age should never have to
deal with and this affects him deeply and breaks his will to live. Elie has witnessed the death of many
people. He s seen people starved, burn to death, be poisoned and it s changed him. Elie even had to
watch a 13 year old boy, just 2 years younger than him, be hanged: Then the march past began. The
two adults were no longer alive. Their tongues hung swollen, blue tinged. But the third rope was still
moving; being so light that the child was still alive... (Wiesel 64). Elie and thousands of other Jews

Buna was a lot worse before Elie got to it: Buna was a real hell back then. There was no water, no
blankets, less soup and bread. At night we slept almost naked, and it was below 12 degrees. Today this
is a little paradise (Wiesel 69 70). The more seasoned prisoners consider Buna a paradise compared to
before. How could a place that still brings so much death be a paradise. The Nazi s have treated them
less than humans, making them starve and freeze, slowly killing them which is the ultimate torture.
Paradise, as the two prisoners say, is their killer. How could the Nazis inflict so much pain without
remorse. I don t know how Elie could ever trust God again after seeing death so much and without the
dignity that a human deserves and I don t blame him for

Analysis Of Donald Trump And The Injustice Of The 43...
In this essay, I argue the government separating rather than bridging the United States. The main
points I show in my essay are the language being used by Donald Trump and the injustice of the 43
missing students in Mexico. We should be concerned about the government because it has gone
corrupt letting people run for President such as Donald Trump that is targeting minorities. In Mexico
not helping the parents solve the case of their innocent children is a problem when the government
should be doing their job. This causes violence amongst people and the government when we should
leaning on them for support and protection. We should be concerned about the government because it

What has the government done to make communities and families improve? Why do innocent people
have die when the ones causing the corruption on people is the government doing and sayings?
Literature Review In writing about my topic I read many articles from Goldman that were about
Donald Trump and the series of The 43 Missing Students. I read the articles to help me understand
more of the history of Donald Trump and the 43 missing students. The reading helped with my
research because it answered my question and it backed up my opinion. It helps address my thesis
stamen because it brings more main points and truth to my opinion.
Methodology
For this essay I conducted library research such as looking into Ebsco research premier for articles on
Donald Trump s current governmental campaign and the 43 missing student s unknown disappearance
trying to make their community better. As well, reading articles from Francisco Goldman in The New
Yorker. Additionally, interviewing a student to see their perspective of the government separating the
United States instead of bridging it.
Analysis
My research is important because it has to do with the well being of people and bringing justice to
innocent families with evidence showing the separating of the United States. This is shown by how
Donald Trump has caused people in his rallies to fight It was the stench of overt racism, and of the

system theory
One of the biggest breakthroughs in how we understand and guide change in organizations is systems
theory and systems thinking. There are two main definitions of a system, an implicit and an explicit
phrase, with the explicit phrase being used in system thinking by organizations. The definition refers
to a system as being a collection of highly integrated parts or subsystems that attain a specific goal,
through inputs that are processed into precise outputs. And thus if a part of this highly linked system is
changed, the overall system is also changed. This is what s meant by a system being systemic, i.e.
relating and affecting the system as a whole. System complexity:

the philosophies of Bunge, Bahm and Laszlo); mathematical modelling and information theory (e.g.
the work of Mesarovic and Klir); and practical applications. Mathematical systems theory arose from
the development of isomorphism between the models of electrical circuits and other systems.
Applications include engineering, computing, ecology, management, and family psychotherapy.
Systems analysis, developed independently of systems theory, applies systems principles to aid a
decision maker with problems of identifying, reconstructing, optimizing, and controlling a system
(usually a socio technical organization), while taking into account multiple objectives, constraints and
resources. It aims to specify possible courses of action, together with their risks, costs and benefits.
Systems theory is closely connected to cybernetics, and also to system dynamics, which models
changes in a network of coupled variables
Depending upon the problem situation, the system needs to be conceptualized using either the
mechanistic, organismic, cultural or political metaphors (Flood and Jackson, 1991) or a combination
of these. Thus, a theory of physical systems can help us in developing a mechanistic view of the
systems to begin with, which can then be developed further by using other approaches along with the
physical system theory.
According to Etizioni (1968), a physical system theory is easy to understand. The world is usually
seen as a

Lizzie Borden Murder
The Murders in Fall River
On August 4, 1892 at 92 Second Street in Fall River Massachusetts, stepmom Abby and father,
Andrew Borden were slaughtered by an axe in their home ( The Trial of Lizzie Borden ). Lizzie s
biological mother died in 1862, and her father Andrew remarried the spinstress, Abby Durfee Gray.
Since it was a stepmother to be murdered, it raised the question as to if Lizzie really liked her
stepmother. Abby s body was in the guest room, murdered an hour before Andrew, who was on a sofa.
Lizzie, their daughter, was first suspected then convicted based on the evidence. A year later she was
pronounced innocent. What really happened will remain a mystery because someone s word on what
happened could easily be altered and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Three days later, on August 9th, Lizzie started to be questioned in the courtroom over police
headquarters. During the first four hours of the examination Lizzie gave confusing and contradicting
information pertaining to where she was and what she was doing. Two days later, on August 11th,
Lizzie was read her rights and arrested by Chief Hillard for the murder of her parents. The following
day Lizzie made a plea of not guilty to the charges against her before being transported by rail car to a
jail located in Taunton, an area located eight miles from Fall River. August 22nd Lizzie was returned
to the Fall River courtroom for her preliminary hearing, after a criminal complaint has been filed by
the prosecutor, next is to determine whether there is enough evidence to require a trial. At the end of
the hearing, Judge Josiah Blaisdell pronounced Lizzie as probably guilty and ordered her to face a
grand jury. From November 15th to the 21st Lizzie faced the grand jury to plead not guilty. It wasn t
until December first, that a testimony was made against Lizzie by a friend of the families. Alex
Russell appeared before the grand jury to make his statement about the blue dress he saw Lizzie burn.
Lizzie responded with the fact that the dress was covered in old paint. The question then is, why was
she burning it the day of the murders? The statement from Russell matched with an earlier testimony
made by Bridget, she claimed Lizzie was wearing a blue dress the morning of the murders. Since both
testimonies matched, it was enough evidence to convince the jury to indict, formally accuse of or
charge with a serious crime, Lizzie for the murder of her parents. On June 5th, 1893 Andrew Jennings
and George Robinson represented the defendant while Knowlton and Thomas Moody argued the case
of the prosecution. Moody opened the case with a two hour long speech while

Persecuted Church
Horrifying evil shocks us into paralysis. That is the point of terrorism: not just to kill, but to
demoralize any opposition into hopelessness and inaction. As urgent as it is to document Christian
persecution in our time to shine a light on it, it s important too to understand that evil doesn t stand
unopposed. There are signs of hope: the heroic virtue of many Christians in the face of genocidal
attack; the help they have received from noble allies; and some signs that the tide may have turned and
things can get better.

The Slave Ship And Hokusai s The Great Wave Off Kanagawa
In the Turner s The Slave Ship and Hokusai s The Great Wave off Kanagawa, the two artists use the
complexity and versatility of the ocean to display important events and ideas of the time period.
Through the use of different artistic techniques, these two artists are able to capture similar settings in
very different ways with very different meanings. Around the age of six years old, Hokusai began
painting and even spent time as an apprentice wood carver in his youth. He began the art of print
making when he was eighteen. His most famous painting, The Great Wave, can be seen in museums
all over the world even though Japan delayed it from catching on worldwide. Many believe that it was
painted in the early 1800s, but Japan was not interacting culturally with other countries apart from
trade with China and Korea. It wasn t until 1859 when the Japanese were forced to open their ports
that prints of The Wave spread across Europe. Originally, this piece wasn t viewed as real art by
Japanese politicians and art historians. Wood block printing was used for commercial use and as a
popular form of expression. The Japanese government wasn t too thrilled that such a seemingly
lowbrow art form had come to define them (15 Things). About five thousand to eight thousand prints
were made but it is speculated that only a few hundreds of The Great Wave remain. The painting
actually inspired music like Debussy s La Mer. In Hokusai s The Great Wave off Kanagawa, Mount

Qualitative Interview Essay
Ahead of our call, here is an outline of our initial thinking on themes and issues to explore in the
qualitative interviews. This is based on our thinking to date about the aims the project and our reading
of your existing research.
It would be useful to get your take on the ideas, and then we can turn these into a discussion guide for
the interviews.
Overall thoughts
It is worth flagging a few overall points and observations:
 This research needs to balance your larger, company wide goal overcoming negativity toward for
profit companies working in the education field with dynamics present in your local, target areas.
 Pearson s existing research covers many motifs and values, from the importance of digital learning
to how Pearson s scale can be leveraged to strengthen its brand. In this research, we should attempt to
tease out which of these concepts work or has been changed given recent political events, like Brexit.
 We are conscious of how recent events, like the Every Student Achieves acts or presidential
campaign, might impact perceptions in the current education field for the foreseeable future. We will
need to understand these current perceptions, as well as future and past views about the role of for
profits in education.
 We need to ensure a number of questions can replicated across our different research instruments
and targets, to quantify them and allow for more holistic analysis.

More recently, the food trend has turned into pre heated or pre cooked meals to take away (Schlosser,
2001).
In recent years, the fast food industry has been facing significant challenges due to the increase in the
consumer awareness on the production process and health concerns. The consumer awareness on
health factors and the marketers detecting the possibility of change in the consumer taste have led the
firms to expand their product lines in drinks more healthy foods (Schlosser, 2001). In other words, the
industry is fighting saturation by creating a much more diverse variety of offerings.
2 What are Organic Foods?
The changes in the consumer taste and the increase in the consumer awareness in eating healthy
products and organic foods have increased immensely in the past few years throughout the whole
world as well as the UK (BBC, 2001).
To have a healthy life, eating organic and healthy is a great way to start. The confusion among the
consumers is due to lack of information towards nutrition and individually the amount and what the
body needs. It is not only going to a shop and purchasing fruits, vegetables, whole grains etc. but
being aware of how these goods are grown raised and how they would influence the individual s
health and the environment.
The expression organic denotes the way agricultural products are grown and processed (Fromartz,
2006). Certain requirements should be met in order for a product to get the label organic such as

Essay on The Social Dimension of Sending Remittances
Introduction
The social impact of remittances is a very important area of research and discussion within academia
and in the wider world. What is the effect of remittances on the senders, the receivers and the wider
communities in which both sides live?
This essay will attempt to address the issue of the social dimension of remittances by analysing the
debate on this issues through a number of examples of both the sender experience and the receiver
experience. In this way we are able to get a better picture of the power of remittances from a social
context and what it means to both sides.

The Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, unlike the American s do not gather statistics, but Canadian
surgeons say they are seeing the same increase in plastic surgery among the millennial youth (Thomas,
2015). The statistics on teenagers and plastic surgery are shocking, but this is not surprising because
teens are vulnerable to having issues with poor body image, and this results in feeling like there is no
other option other than plastic surgery. They want to look perfect and fit in with society. Teens should
not have to turn to operations to physically change their bodies just to fit in with today s beauty
standards.
High standards of beauty are causing girls to lose out on opportunities because they feel they will be
judged for the way they look and this leads to eating disorders, unhealthy diets and overall poor
health. In a world surrounded by celebrities and fashion models who look impossibly thin, a message
is sent to teens that they must look this way to be socially accepted. This message can lead to
unhealthy eating habits and self esteem issues. Approximately 75 percent of girls as young as nine

Bruce Springsteen s Almost Dreamlike Song Nebraska
In Bruce Springsteen s almost dreamlike song Nebraska he sings about Charles Starkweather and his
girlfriend Carol Fugate. A young couple that went on a killing spree over eight days in Nebraska in the
1950s, killing ten people. The song is short and intimate despite it being a first person narrative of a
serial killer. Springsteen writes, They wanted to know why I did what I did Well, sir, I guess there s
just a meanness in this world. as the last words of the song. This ending coupled with the historical
background expresses a few themes that I believe Springsteen wanted to convey. The first being that
people always seem to search for meaning in things, that sometimes have no meaning at all. Secondly,
that isolation and loneliness can be a hard thing to cope with, and it is something that I have had to

The Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass
Revolutionary Freedom In 1845, an African American man named Frederick Douglass released a
thought provoking autobiography that would become a turning point in revolutionary change. The
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass was the first autobiography Douglass had written focusing
on the real life struggles he has faced during his time spent in bondage. During his time, it was not
common for an African American to have the skills to read and write, and it was especially uncommon
to publish a novel revealing the truth of slavery, while it was still legal at that time. Provoking
revolutionary thought amongst his readers, this narrative will change the world in ways of equality,
speaking for the oppressed, and inducing the philosophical thought of what it means to truly be free.
Douglass believes in equality for all, which is not a typical concept for his time. In the 1800 s, slavery
was legal in the majority of the United States, where whites held all the power whether it be
politically, socially, or economically. Believing that all men were created equal, Douglass was at a
flummox when coming to the realization that he had been born into slavery, seeing that his freedom
has to be worked for, it will not be handed to him as it was to the white men in his time. Proving to us
the difference in the political standing of slaves and white men, the orator states A representative could

The Empire Of Crete
The Empire of Crete is an island strategically positioned in the Mediterranean Sea. Crete controls
most of Eastern Mediterranean trade and taxes. Crete has the ability to trade with Egypt, Syria,
Cyprus, the Aegean islands, the mainland and west Sicily (Thomas Sakoulas). This is how Crete gets
its income. The issue is Crete has materials to build boats, but as soon as Crete reaches the mainland
they lack animals to carry their goods across the Silk Road. The Crete Empire will secure trade along
the Silk Road by forging alliances with the Bedouins and Ottoman Empire. The Empire of Crete will
increase profits by capitalizing upon the alliances with Bedouins and the Ottoman Empire, in
exchange for conditional access to Crete s sea routes. The problem with limited transportation to the ...

Crete plans to sail to the mainland where the Silk Road is nearest to both of the empires and, as Crete
sails, the Bedouins meet up with Crete and trade camels and timber. Timber was one of the natural
resources that was commercially exploited and exported to nearby Egypt (Thomas Sakoulas). Since
the Bedouins are helping Crete, Crete will take off fifty percent for the vessels the Bedouins use, on
the Eastern Mediterranean. In return, the Bedouins will provide an army for Crete to block the Holy
Roman Empire from using the trade routes. One army will not hold off all of Rome, so Crete agreed to
partner up with the Ottomans and have the Ottoman army tag along with the Bedouins. Therefore,
Crete will allow the Ottomans no taxation on the eastern sea. Crete shall do this because they have
harsh history with Rome. Professor Keith Bradley said, Rome once forced people to be Greek slaves.
This is showing that Crete would never trade, nor partner up with the Holy Roman Empire, because
they enslaved Crete s own family. In conclusion, Crete will gain power, wealth, and peace because of

Model Of Christian Charity
A Model of Christian Charity is a sermon written in 1630 by John Winthrop, a Puritan leader. The
Way to Wealth is an essay written in 1758 by Benjamin Franklin. Winthrop gives his sermon on the
Arbella while its members are sailing for the Massachusetts Bay Colony in the New World. Franklin s
essay consists of proverbs and advice given throughout his yearly almanac titled Poor Richard s
Almanack . Both texts discuss the idea of success and how one can attain it. Winthrop argues that
success can be achieved through a sense of community; however, Franklin believes that success can
be attained through individual industry and frugality. In A Model of Christian Charity , Winthrop
believes that the reason why some people are rich and others ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

People cannot be lazy if they want to be wealthy. Franklin states, Sloth makes all things difficult, but
industry all things easy, and that riseth late must trot all day, and shall scarce overtake his business at
night, while laziness travels so slowly that poverty soon overtakes him (Franklin 458 459). Franklin
believes that being lazy will not lead to success, it will only lead to poverty. Someone attains success
though individual industry. This is a central belief in Franklin s essay. A person must be motivated and
not idle if they want to achieve success. Franklin writes, Early to bed, and early to rise, makes a man
healthy, wealthy and wise (Franklin 459). Through this quote, Franklin articulates that being
productive will help a person reach success. Besides individual industry, Franklin believes that another
way of achieving success is through frugality. Being wise with money is a key aspect in attaining
success. Franklin says, If you would know the value of money, go and try to borrow some, for, he that
goes a borrowing goes a sorrowing (Franklin 461). Someone who keeps borrowing money and is
unable to pay that money back is not responsible and frugal. Franklin also says, Beware of little
expenses; a small leak will sink a great ship (Franklin 460). One should be mindful of inexpensive
thing because eventually they will add up to cost more than large expenses. Therefore, a

Variation Of Alleles
Genetic variation of alleles is evident through physical attributes of humans and can be attributed to
the specific sequence of nucleotides in DNA. Gregor Mendel experimented with plant breeding in
order to determine that the inheritance of different traits is dependent upon the differences in alleles,
or genes. Two loci that can measure the genetic variation in human populations are the LCT locus and
the TAS2R38 locus (Leicht McAllister, 2017). The LCT locus is located on chromosome 2, and
encodes for the enzyme lactase that breaks down lactose into its monomers to aid digestion of dairy in
the small intestine (Leicht McAllister, 2017). The two potential alleles that LCT has are C and T,
which can form three potential genotypes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We were then using the Hardy Weinberg Principle to calculate the observed and expected values of
genotype frequencies within the class and compare the results using the Chi Square goodness of fit

evolutionary forces, the allele and genotype frequencies of sexual populations will remain constant
between generations (Sadava, 2011). The Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium is met be a population under
five specific conditions: no genetic mutation, random mating between individuals (no sexual
selection), infinite population size (no genetic drift, or any chance of variation with allele frequencies),
no gene flow (migration of new individuals into or out of the population), and no natural selection (all
genotypes contain the same relative fitness for survival and reproduction). If any of these conditions
are not met, the population is not in Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium and evolution is occurring. The
expected frequencies within a population are determined by two equations: p + q = 1 for allele
frequencies, and p2 + 2pq + q2 = 1 for genotype frequencies (Sadava, 2011). After using the Hardy
Weinberg Principle, we used the Chi Square goodness of fit test to compare the expected and observed
frequencies of the LCT and TAS2R38 loci, we

Snowpeicer Essay
This paper examines different theories in relation to the video Snowpeicer. It seeks to show the way
the three identified theories manifest from the video and the impacts they create. The three theories
include structural functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. Even though the
theories are distinct, they are expressed in the one same movie analyzed in this study. Structural
Functionalism This theory looks at the society as a complex system with different parts that work
together in solidarity to promote peace and stability. The film Snowpeicer, written by Bong Joon Ho
gives different escapades of torture and punishment orchestrated by Mason. Even though there is some
sense of oneness as people travel together on the train, which indeed proves the world s diversity, the
rages of conflicts later ensue as the power are mistreated by the powerful individuals. The poor are
pushed to the ramshackle at the back by the armed border guards. The elites enjoy the pleasure and
freedom of moving in the train dictating that terms that govern the traveling. The society would

Job Description Of A Ceo
For somebody who plans on being a CEO one day, knows a CEO, or is wondering what the wages of a
CEO are, would be surprised to find out that the average pay of CEOs is $16,316,000. This number is
so high because of the numerous tasks that CEOs perform. The job description of a CEO means
meeting the needs of employees, customers, investors, communities, and the law. (Lafley, 2009) After
I read an article from the former CEO of Procter and Gamble, I understand why CEOs are stressed and
face so many difficulties everyday. Paying CEOs a large salary is understandable to a point, however,
paying them an average of $16,316,000 is way to high. Should CEOs be paid large salaries because

Should the average worker get paid more, or should CEO wages be decreased? We can find the results
to these questions by looking at many large companies and seeing how their CEOs are paid and by the
work they do.
$16,316,000 was the average pay of CEOs in 2015. (Kaplan, 2008) This number is way too high and
CEO s salaries should be decreased to help further other parts of the company. The success of a
company should be the company s top priority and they should not be putting such a large amount of
money into their CEO s salary. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook stated in an interview that,
Companies need to make sure the CEO is happy, however, giving them several million dollar bonuses
while the company is not doing to good, should not make the CEO happy because that means they are
not doing their job correctly. (Kirichenko, 3:41) Increasing the salary of the CEO may make them
work less hard because they know if they fail they will only go back to their original pay or receive
more money. Léo Apotheker was the CEO of Hewlett Packard and was fired because he failed to meet
the duties required as a CEO. When he got fired, he received $23 million for 11 months of work and
received $13 million in termination benefits. Kathy Kristof said in an interview that, we can see that
increasing the CEO s salary, like in the case with Apotheker, will not motivate them to work harder,

Mainly for nationalistic reasons or for warfare purposes. Which is precisely the problem; innocent
citizens get killed and evaporated because another country s military used the lethal weapon of nuclear
power to gain an edge on an enemy. Which, one can go on to find out, will create ever more problems
than it actually intended to solve. Now that we can see, as nations, the underlying problem with
nuclear weapons, what can we do to ensure this problem doesn t persist? There are many possibilities,
but really only one solution. To understand how a nuclear ban or abolition could actually happen, one
must understand that it would virtually take a unanimous vote. All the countries would have to agree
on banning weapons so that it would ensure fully that no nuclear weapons would be usable. So what
possibly could be a solution? Well, firstly it s not rocket science; just following governmental
procedures, and knowing how a bill becomes a law, it s quite simple. First, a convention must be held
with every country, and then an official document, most presumably a treaty, must be signed into law
stating the worldwide disarmament of nuclear weaponry. This is just a constitutional process, and has
great potential to be successful, but if this is not convincing enough, try taking Tom Sauer s word on
it. Sauer (2016), an Associate Professor at the Universiteit Antwerpen (Belgium), says first a Nuclear

The Negative Effects Of Living Separately As A Married Couple
Living Separately as a Married Couple Let the wife make the husband glad to come home, and let him
make her sorry to see him leave (Luther); When a married couple decides to live in separate houses,
the married couple may think it is peaceful, relaxing, and full of excitement; however, that is not the
case. When a married couple lives separately, the couple may enjoy his or her freedom. By freedom,
the writer means walking around the house wearing only her skin, listening to music, and singing
loudly even though it does not sound pleasant. From the writer s experience, living separately from
her spouse has not been an easy or enjoyable experience. Living separately from a spouse has several
effects such as financial burdens, infidelity, and a negative impact on children. One important effect of
married couples living in separate homes is financial burdens. Prior to living separately, the married
couples had two incomes. Rather than paying bills on their own, the couple possible shared accounts
and the responsibility of paying bills together. The husband and wife would have to learn how to
budget on one income. Before, the husband and wife saved money together, but separately the couple
could have difficulty saving money due to extra expenses. Now since the couple is living in two
separate homes, more expenses are created; for instance, renting a storage building. Another result of
married couples living separately is infidelity. Since the married couple is living in

The Lack Of Education And Global Inequalities In Kenya
Global inequalities are the things that society identifies as not equal and unfair. There are many
inequalities in Kenya including income, life expectancy, education, water, gender and poverty
inequalities. Although these are negative problems, opportunities in Kenya have shown improvement
as people are starting to make a difference by sending more people to school and giving children
education they need and also food and water for people to survive. Amnesty International and Unicef
are all apart of the world trying to make a difference. Amnesty International is the world s largest and
most respected human rights organisation. Amnesty campaigns against abuse of human rights around
the world. The other NGO that I have chose is UNICEF who promotes the rights and wellbeing of
every child in the world.
The lack of opportunities is a struggle in Kenya for women and children as they are a very poor
country and can t afford food and education for their community. The people that are affected by this
are women and children who are treated differently. Some of the many inequalities for women are that
they are paid less than men, this is due to gender inequality and discrimination against women. It has
scientifically shown that women are earning what men were paid in 2006 and will take another 118
years for women to be equally paid the same as men. Another inequality for women in Kenya is that
they are less educated than men, this is evident as they have less access to education,

Essay about The Bibi-Khanym Mosque
The Bibi Khanym is a congregational mosque, masjid i jami` in Persian, built by Emperor Timur i
Leng between 1399 and 1404 in Samarkand, present day Uzbekistan. Emperor Timur remarkably
expanded his small tribe into the Timurid Dynasty, which lasted from 1370 to 1507. Timur showed
great leadership skills and also had an interest in architecture. The results of his artistic interests are
especially apparent in Samarkand, the capital of the Timurids during Timur s reign where art,
architecture, and culture flourished. The Bibi Khanum exemplifies the vision that Timur held for
Samarkand because of the monument s dominant and massive nature. Although today the mosque is

It was under Timur that Samarkand became one of the most outstanding capitals of the then known
world. It became a thriving city in which markets could be found containing leather, spices, silk, and
precious stones. It was also a city of great architectural monuments where accomplished artisans and
architects came or were brought from around the world to build in this capital. Timur s goal was to
dominate the world and show the dominance of the Timurid dynasty. One of the main motives behind
Timur s efforts was the desire to control the trade routes, which linked East and West. With great
interest in trade, Timur had an ambitious strategy to reactivate the Silk Road and make it the link
between Europe and China. In 1405, at the beginning of his last and greatest campaign, Timur died.
Timur is memorialized for his ability as a nomad chief to transform his tribe into an empire using
Samarkand as the capital to display the Timurid dynastic power.
Timur was not only a great conqueror but also an memorable builder. Whenever he conquered a city
that stood in the way of his army, he would bring back the artisans and materials to embellish his royal
city of Samarkand. When Timur was not working on military efforts he was constantly involved in the
building of these works created in Samarkand. Although Timur built many of his architectural

Summary Of All Over Let s Eat By Dave Barry
Politics is a dangerous topic: minefields to the left and right, shrapnel everywhere, and often the best
opinion is no opinion. Dave Barry in Now That s It s All Over, Let s Eat! approaches the modern
American political apathy with a cynical eye. In 2012, before the second election of Barak Obama,
Americans were feeling a lack of faith in the political system. The Democrats were demonizing Mitt
Romney and the Republicans were bad mouthing Obama. Barry says that the American response to all
this drama should be to go watch football.
In the article, Barry has three observations about current political life: that both parties are filled with
less than bright politicians (who bill themselves as geniuses or at least as well informed), street
protests such as the march on Wall Street are honestly not very effective, and that there is no fun in
politics anymore and no one has a sense of humor.
I know that before I go on a trip that I always check the weather, because I have been stuck on

that they are trying to convert people to veganism. His mental response was not thoughts of meatless

the inefficacy of shouting in large groups. Occupy Wall Street was a prime example of this mentality. I
do sympathize with many of their aims, because I am definitely one of the 99%. However, when they
did a months long protest in Philadelphia at City Hall, I went home the long way around because the
protesters came across as dangerous and possibly unstable. As the late Terry Pratchett said, The

Throughout the time Quillen was in prison he witnessed one of the most intense attempted escapes

Obstacles Affecting American Dreams By William Faulkner
Obstacles Affecting American Dreams Throughout the world, people have to strive for a better life.
Not many of them acquire the life that they want. The reality of society affects their desire toward
dreams. But not every dream are the same and can come true. There are times when something hard or
even unexpected occurs, everything that they have been worked for can halt. In the story A Rose For
Emily by William Faulkner, he uses imagery of a daughter with a dream of obtaining true love to
describe the obstacles, whether physical or emotional and aspect of time, that can cause achieving a
dream more difficult or even appear to be impossible. This pattern of images suggests that dreams
seem to be unattainable because of obstacles. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

And what s more, I love Daisy too. Once in a while I go off on a spree and make fool of myself, but I

Difference Between Knowing The Gospel And Being Consumed...
The title of chapter one is called A People Formed. The authors begin to talk about the difference
between knowing the gospel and being consumed by the gospel. They also describe the importance of
understanding the gospel and what the gospel means for the church. It is mentioned that Sin has
fractured the shalom of the universe. (9) God spoke and formed an entire nation , a community of
faith. The gospel creates a collective people. In chapter two, the authors talk about worship and what it
means to rejoice. They also describe our fleshly tendency to idolatry. They use the story of the
Samaritan woman at the well to depict this. The wrong wells never truly satisfy us, and our worship
suffers when we continue to go back to them. It is said that we would rather worship creation than the
Creator. The authors also talk about our tendency to try to cover up our sin. We are all to often running
from God and simultaneously running towards the things that make the situation worse. In our
ignorance we strip God of his authority and power. Chapter three describes community. We are a
family of believers that unite despite race, nationality, economics, and politics, because Christ unites
us. Out of this divinely constructed community flows God s plan for humans to be in relationship with
one another. The authors mention that a community is only as strong as what it is built upon. They say
that, unity in the gospel is much deeper than surface uniformity (45). In Chapter

Alex Rodriguez Broke Into Spring Camp With The Seattle...
In 1994, an 18 year old kid from Miami named Alex Rodriguez broke into spring camp with the
Seattle Mariners in an attempt to make the team. After almost immediately stepping into a Major
League baseball field he became a household name. Within two years, he was an All Star. Within five,
a regular 40 homer player. By the turn of the century, many were already putting him into the Hall of
Fame discussion.
On August 12, 2016, Rodriguez played what will be his final game as a New York Yankee after an
incredible 12 years in New York. Considering the 41 year old s lack of playing time and declining
production after a resurgent effort in 2015, this may very well be the end of the A Rod era entirely.
And for A Rod, he was prepared to leave the game he fell in love with as a child.
I do want to be remembered as someone who was madly in love with the game of baseball, someone
who loves it at every level, Rodriguez said. Someone who loves to learn it, play it, teach it, coach it.
And also, I m going to be hopefully remembered as someone who tripped and fell a lot, but someone
that kept getting up.
Rodriguez has led a very controversial 22 year baseball career. His lowest moment being when he was
infamously suspended for the entire 2014 season following the Biogenesis investigation. The longest

What Is Thoreau s Time At Walden Pond
Many of the major literary tools that we have encountered throughout our analysis of famous works
were found in Henry David Thoreau s Walden. Walden is a personal story of Thoreau s time at Walden
Pond; he tells us about his experiences, both spiritually and physically. He analyzes the nature and
settings around him, finding multiple meanings in everything. Thoreau was a true transcendentalist of
his time, writing on many different levels in all of his works. I perceive that we inhabitants of New
England live this mean life that we do because our vision does not penetrate the surface of things. We
think that that is which appears to be. This is true when one reads any works from Thoreau. In order to
fully comprehend Thoreau s works, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He describes both the depth and the purity of the pond, which is a symbol for human nature as well.
Since he comments: I am thankful that this pond was made deep and pure for a symbol , it s clear that
these features assume a spiritual and moral meaning. Since he is interested with depth concerning
Walden Pond, he comes up with a plan to figure out how deep the pond is. Thoreau ponders why
people claim the pond is bottomless when he figures out it is actually one hundred feet deep. He
comes to the conclusion that people need to believe in infinity. The symbolic meaning of depth is
suggested when he urges: Let us work and wedge our feet downward through the mud and slush of
opinion, and prejudice, and tradition and appearance till we come to a hard bottom and rocks in place,
which we can call reality Thoreau claims humans need a depth of thought in order to reflect and go
beyond the surface of things to reach the essential facts of life. Thoreau describes a purity of the
Walden Pond that sets it apart from other ponds. Walden is described as a mirror in which all impurity
presented to it sinks . Thoreau puts an emphasis on the purity of the pond; this could be due to
Thoreau s fear of physical contamination, due to the railroad being so close, as well as intellectual
contamination, since he feels society is poisoned. Thoreau himself tries to purify his spirit and rid
himself of his animal nature, to reunite the spiritual world with the natural world. He abandons his old
life and society s corrupting influences by going to the woods and living simply. He does so with the
tranquility of Walden Pond and his bean field. Given these peculiar features, it appears evident that the
pond has a divine nature which is shown in two ways: as the medium of divine expression and as a
mirror which reflects the spirituality of mankind and the

  • 2. The Premier Artists Of The Italian High Renaissance To start with, it seems important for me to define the concept artistic genius , which sheds the light upon the mission any craftsman is going to manage. As far as I understood, the genius is the natural talent or the outstanding skill, which allows the individual to perceive the objects and phenomena of the everyday reality in the unconventional way. At the same time, the word artistic implies the connection to any form of art: drawing, painting, sculpture and so on. All together, the artistic genius is viewed by me as the complex of the intrinsic qualities, which finds its obvious embodiment in the creative work. Therefore, by creating the particular piece of art, the maker is intended to transmit the specific idea to the general public, which presupposes both the instruction and entertainment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this concern, the core characteristic of this period is the portrayal of the nudity and the natural world (The Premier Artists of the Italian High Renaissance). This provides an explanation to the renewed interest to the ancient culture, especially Greek and Roman, as well as the change of the artistic canons. Here, it should be stressed that the High Renaissance has initiated the cult of humanism, according to which, the man has been treated as the visual proof of God s power. Moreover, the work of art has been considered as the result of the marvellous and hard labor rather than the craft itself (The Premier Artists of the Italian High Renaissance). All in all, these changes are said by the scholars to be one of the most crucial moments in the history of art due to the number of masterpieces ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Characteristics Of Feral Pigs Feral Pigs By Jessica Hollitt Feral pigs were introduced by the early European settlers in 1788. Pigs were used as domesticated companions of the Europeans as they moved around Australia. After time, these animals escaped from captivity and their population began to increase dramatically. Feral pigs have a huge negative impact on the native vegetation, environment and agriculture. They have very destructive habits when feeding and foraging. They can cause erosion of soil and fouling of watering points with their wallowing. Feral pigs need satisfactory supplies of food and water and enough shelter for protection against extremes of temperature. Feral pigs can be found in areas with these conditions including rainforests, monsoon forest patches, paperbark swamps, open flood plains, marsh areas, semi arid flood plains, dry woodlands and subalpine grasslands and forests. They are a medium to large sized animal with a short stubby snout, sported by a short neck. The body of a feral pig is rounded. They have small eyes, and large ears with points. Feral pigs are four legged animals with four toes of each foot. Their tail is generally curled or straight covered with hair and they are covered in fur and have very thick skin which helps to insulate their body temperature. Feral pigs are omnivores, preferring succulent green vegetation, fruit, grain, and a wide variety of animal meat including, frogs, reptiles, birds, small mammals; and carrion. They also feed on underground plants such as root, bulbs, corms, and fungi. As a result of fossicking for food. The vast diet of feral pigs can cause severe environmental damage to vegetation. Feral pigs can also cause erosion of soil and damage to the native species of animals and vegetation. The requirement of protein and energy in a pig s diet is very high. This is needed for breeding, successful lactation and growth of young. Feral pigs restrict their activities to cool parts of the day such as dusk and dawn. Throughout hot weather, pigs become primarily nocturnal, and in cooler weather the inactivity is generally throughout the middle of the day. Feral pigs create and use trails to easily travel to and from places such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Harm Principle In John Stuart Mill s On Liberty The dominant idea of John Stuart Mill s On Liberty is the harm principle, the assertion that society can only intervene with the action of an individual when said action harms or heightens the probability of harm to another individual without their consent. However Mill offers in addition a noteworthy caveat to the harm principle. He asserts that society can also intervene when the choice of the individual is to irrevocably surrender their liberty even when said action harms only themselves This exception to the harm principle emphasizes its purpose, the preservation of liberty which he deems to be a necessary condition for the cultivation of progress in society. The responsibility of accomplishing this progress he lays upon the backs of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let us imagine a kingdom which shares both its northern and its southern borders with hostile states. The son of the king informs him that the state to the north is readying their army for an invasion to exterminate the kingdom s people. A courtier has heard the prince discussing a plan to divert the royal army in order to allow the southern neighbor to invade the kingdom and slaughter its people in exchange for a sum of gold. If the king s power is unlimited and the advocate of any opinion which he dislikes can be punished merely because he dislikes it, the courtier will naturally hesitate in expressing what he knows for fear he will not be believed and face execution for his insult upon the royal family. If faced with a sufficient probability of death from informing the king and from the invading army from the south, the courtier would choose, if he were to obey Hobbes s right of nature, to flee the kingdom without providing any warning. In an atmosphere of liberty, as would exist if the king had bound been bound by the harm principle, the courtier may declare what he has heard. He would face no dilemma, because the threat of death for informing the king would disappear, if the king does not believe him, he has not forfeited the opportunity for escape ... Throughout his book, Night, we learn about the struggles in the concentration camp. Elie even had to watch a 13 year old boy, just 2 years younger than him, be hanged: Then the march past began. The two adults were no longer alive. Their tongues hung swollen, blue tinged. • 7. system theory One of the biggest breakthroughs in how we understand and guide change in organizations is systems theory and systems thinking. There are two main definitions of a system, an implicit and an explicit phrase, with the explicit phrase being used in system thinking by organizations. The definition refers to a system as being a collection of highly integrated parts or subsystems that attain a specific goal, through inputs that are processed into precise outputs. And thus if a part of this highly linked system is changed, the overall system is also changed. This is what s meant by a system being systemic, i.e. relating and affecting the system as a whole. Mathematical systems theory arose from the development of isomorphism between the models of electrical circuits and other systems. Applications include engineering, computing, ecology, management, and family psychotherapy. Systems analysis, developed independently of systems theory, applies systems principles to aid a decision maker with problems of identifying, reconstructing, optimizing, and controlling a system (usually a socio technical organization), while taking into account multiple objectives, constraints and resources. It aims to specify possible courses of action, together with their risks, costs and benefits. Systems theory is closely connected to cybernetics, and also to system dynamics, which models changes in a network of coupled variables Depending upon the problem situation, the system needs to be conceptualized using either the mechanistic, organismic, cultural or political metaphors (Flood and Jackson, 1991) or a combination of these. Thus, a theory of physical systems can help us in developing a mechanistic view of the systems to begin with, which can then be developed further by using other approaches along with the physical system theory. We were then using the Hardy Weinberg Principle to calculate the observed and expected values of genotype frequencies within the class and compare the results using the Chi Square goodness of fit test (Leicht McAllister, 2017). Demonstrated by the Hardy Weinberg Principle, that without any evolutionary forces, the allele and genotype frequencies of sexual populations will remain constant between generations (Sadava, 2011). The Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium is met be a population under five specific conditions: no genetic mutation, random mating between individuals (no sexual selection), infinite population size (no genetic drift, or any chance of variation with allele frequencies), no gene flow (migration of new individuals into or out of the population), and no natural selection (all genotypes contain the same relative fitness for survival and reproduction). If any of these conditions are not met, the population is not in Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium and evolution is occurring. The expected frequencies within a population are determined by two equations: p + q = 1 for allele frequencies, and p2 + 2pq + q2 = 1 for genotype frequencies (Sadava, 2011). After using the Hardy Weinberg Principle, we used the Chi Square goodness of fit test to compare the expected and observed frequencies of the LCT and TAS2R38 loci, we ... It seeks to show the way the three identified theories manifest from the video and the impacts they create. The three theories include structural functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. Even though the theories are distinct, they are expressed in the one same movie analyzed in this study. Structural Functionalism This theory looks at the society as a complex system with different parts that work together in solidarity to promote peace and stability. The film Snowpeicer, written by Bong Joon Ho gives different escapades of torture and punishment orchestrated by Mason. Even though there is some sense of oneness as people travel together on the train, which indeed proves the world s diversity, the rages of conflicts later ensue as the power are mistreated by the powerful individuals. Job Description Of A Ceo For somebody who plans on being a CEO one day, knows a CEO, or is wondering what the wages of a CEO are, would be surprised to find out that the average pay of CEOs is $16,316,000. This number is so high because of the numerous tasks that CEOs perform. The job description of a CEO means meeting the needs of employees, customers, investors, communities, and the law. (Lafley, 2009) After I read an article from the former CEO of Procter and Gamble, I understand why CEOs are stressed and face so many difficulties everyday. Paying CEOs a large salary is understandable to a point, however, paying them an average of $16,316,000 is way to high. Should the average worker get paid more, or should CEO wages be decreased? We can find the results to these questions by looking at many large companies and seeing how their CEOs are paid and by the work they do. $16,316,000 was the average pay of CEOs in 2015. (Kaplan, 2008) This number is way too high and CEO s salaries should be decreased to help further other parts of the company. The success of a company should be the company s top priority and they should not be putting such a large amount of money into their CEO s salary. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook stated in an interview that, Companies need to make sure the CEO is happy, however, giving them several million dollar bonuses while the company is not doing to good, should not make the CEO happy because that means they are not doing their job correctly. (Kirichenko, 3:41) Increasing the salary of the CEO may make them work less hard because they know if they fail they will only go back to their original pay or receive more money. Léo Apotheker was the CEO of Hewlett Packard and was fired because he failed to meet the duties required as a CEO. When he got fired, he received $23 million for 11 months of work and received $13 million in termination benefits. Now that we can see, as nations, the underlying problem with nuclear weapons, what can we do to ensure this problem doesn t persist? There are many possibilities, but really only one solution. To understand how a nuclear ban or abolition could actually happen, one must understand that it would virtually take a unanimous vote. All the countries would have to agree on banning weapons so that it would ensure fully that no nuclear weapons would be usable. So what possibly could be a solution? Well, firstly it s not rocket science; just following governmental procedures, and knowing how a bill becomes a law, it s quite simple. First, a convention must be held with every country, and then an official document, most presumably a treaty, must be signed into law stating the worldwide disarmament of nuclear weaponry. This is just a constitutional process, and has great potential to be successful, but if this is not convincing enough, try taking Tom Sauer s word on it. The Negative Effects Of Living Separately As A Married Couple Living Separately as a Married Couple Let the wife make the husband glad to come home, and let him make her sorry to see him leave (Luther); When a married couple decides to live in separate houses, the married couple may think it is peaceful, relaxing, and full of excitement; however, that is not the case. When a married couple lives separately, the couple may enjoy his or her freedom. By freedom, the writer means walking around the house wearing only her skin, listening to music, and singing loudly even though it does not sound pleasant. From the writer s experience, living separately from her spouse has not been an easy or enjoyable experience. Living separately from a spouse has several effects such as financial burdens, infidelity, and a negative impact on children. One important effect of married couples living in separate homes is financial burdens. Prior to living separately, the married couples had two incomes. Rather than paying bills on their own, the couple possible shared accounts and the responsibility of paying bills together. The husband and wife would have to learn how to budget on one income. Before, the husband and wife saved money together, but separately the couple could have difficulty saving money due to extra expenses. The people that are affected by this are women and children who are treated differently. Some of the many inequalities for women are that they are paid less than men, this is due to gender inequality and discrimination against women. It has scientifically shown that women are earning what men were paid in 2006 and will take another 118 years for women to be equally paid the same as men. Dave Barry in Now That s It s All Over, Let s Eat! approaches the modern American political apathy with a cynical eye. In 2012, before the second election of Barak Obama, Americans were feeling a lack of faith in the political system. The Democrats were demonizing Mitt Romney and the Republicans were bad mouthing Obama. Barry says that the American response to all this drama should be to go watch football. In the article, Barry has three observations about current political life: that both parties are filled with less than bright politicians (who bill themselves as geniuses or at least as well informed), street protests such as the march on Wall Street are honestly not very effective, and that there is no fun in politics anymore and no one has a sense of humor. There are times when something hard or even unexpected occurs, everything that they have been worked for can halt. In the story A Rose For Emily by William Faulkner, he uses imagery of a daughter with a dream of obtaining true love to describe the obstacles, whether physical or emotional and aspect of time, that can cause achieving a dream more difficult or even appear to be impossible. The authors begin to talk about the difference between knowing the gospel and being consumed by the gospel. They also describe the importance of understanding the gospel and what the gospel means for the church. It is mentioned that Sin has fractured the shalom of the universe. (9) God spoke and formed an entire nation , a community of faith. The gospel creates a collective people. In chapter two, the authors talk about worship and what it means to rejoice. They also describe our fleshly tendency to idolatry. They use the story of the Samaritan woman at the well to depict this. The wrong wells never truly satisfy us, and our worship suffers when we continue to go back to them. It is said that we would rather worship creation than the Creator. The authors also talk about our tendency to try to cover up our sin. We are all to often running from God and simultaneously running towards the things that make the situation worse. In our ignorance we strip God of his authority and power. Chapter three describes community. We are a family of believers that unite despite race, nationality, economics, and politics, because Christ unites us. Walden is a personal story of Thoreau s time at Walden Pond; he tells us about his experiences, both spiritually and physically. He analyzes the nature and settings around him, finding multiple meanings in everything. Thoreau was a true transcendentalist of his time, writing on many different levels in all of his works. Since he comments: I am thankful that this pond was made deep and pure for a symbol , it s clear that these features assume a spiritual and moral meaning. Since he is interested with depth concerning Walden Pond, he comes up with a plan to figure out how deep the pond is. Thoreau ponders why people claim the pond is bottomless when he figures out it is actually one hundred feet deep. He comes to the conclusion that people need to believe in infinity. The symbolic meaning of depth is suggested when he urges: Let us work and wedge our feet downward through the mud and slush of opinion, and prejudice, and tradition and appearance till we come to a hard bottom and rocks in place, which we can call reality Thoreau claims humans need a depth of thought in order to reflect and go beyond the surface of things to reach the essential facts of life. Thoreau describes a purity of the Walden Pond that sets it apart from other ponds. Walden is described as a mirror in which all impurity presented to it sinks . Thoreau puts an emphasis on the purity of the pond; this could be due to Thoreau s fear of physical contamination, due to the railroad being so close, as well as intellectual contamination, since he feels society is poisoned. Thoreau himself tries to purify his spirit and rid himself of his animal nature, to reunite the spiritual world with the natural world. He abandons his old life and society s corrupting influences by going to the woods and living simply. He does so with the tranquility of Walden Pond and his bean field. Given these peculiar features, it appears evident that the pond has a divine nature which is shown in two ways: as the medium of divine expression and as a mirror which reflects the spirituality of mankind and the ...
