In The Skin Of A Lion Essay
The Unknown History
The genre of historical fiction is loved by many authors as it allows them to use the past as an
inspiration while writing a fictional story that will captivate the readers. In the novel In the Skin of
a Lion by Michael Ondaatje, the rich history is explored throughout the novel with the theme of the
unfair treatment of immigrants, the construction of both the Bloor Street Viaduct and the Queen
Street Waterworks and the character of Rowland Harris. By looking at the historical facts in the
novel, we can see why it s considered a historical fiction novel, which most readers fail to
recognize; this is important because Ondaatje chooses this writing style so that the readers can
learn about the rich history of Toronto through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel, Ondaatje names him Rowland Harris and he s a secondary character in the story.
However, that being said, Rowland Harris is portrayed as a visionary, a dreamer and an
achiever. The author does a great job of bringing this character in the story all while maintaining
some great accomplishments in his life. Roland Harris envisioned a lot of aspects that Toronto
now has. During Harris and Patrick s conversation at The Queen Street Waterworks, Harris says
It turned out I was dreaming about projects for the city that had been rejected over the years.
Wonderful things that were said to be too vulgar or expensive, too this too that. (Ondaatje 237)
Roland Harris was a great architect for the city of Toronto, he was a visionary and wanted to
make the city of Toronto grow. This is directly linked to Toronto s history and Ondaatje uses that
secondary character who the readers don t see a lot throughout the book to talk about someone
who dreamed big for Toronto. Harris even says to Patrick I mean the Bloor Street Viaduct and
this building here are just a hint of what could have been done here. (Ondaatje 237) For someone
who was a visionary for Toronto, the sky would have been the limit if he had the money and the
right to keep making the city grow. The Character of Harris has played a valuable part in the way
Toronto is shaped today and Ondaatje knew

Dayglo Fluorescent Pigments Research Paper
Fluorescent pigments are a special type of pigment that have the unique ability to reemit a greater
frequency of light. Fluorescent pigments absorb the light frequencies that are emitted onto them,
and reemit them. Fluorescent pigments stand out to the human eye making them a great pigment
for advertising use, children s toys, safety protection wear, and many other commercial uses.
Fluorescent pigments were invented in the 1940 s by the Switzer brothers. Bob was a working
man and Joe was an amateur magician. Unfortunately, Bob was seriously injured and fractured his
head on the job. He had to spend months in the hospital recovering from his injuries. Since his head
was fractured, he had to avoid bright light. Since they were in the dark all of the time, both Bob and
Joe Switzer developed a curiosity about illuminating fluorescent pigments to enhance Joe s magic
show. ( DayGlo Fluorescent Pigments ).They realized that there were many fluorescing compounds
in nature, and when combined with shellac, they were successful ( DayGlo Fluorescent Pigments ).

Shortly after the Switzer brothers started the process, the common way of developing the
fluorescent pigment was the bulk polycondensation method. (Color Technology for Plastics). This
method uses the reactions of formaldehyde, melamine, and toluene sulfonamide. The method
further developed in the 1970 s when scientists found a technique to suspend a droplet, which
allowed a higher degree of polymerization. At first this method was very expensive and brought
out a poor color, but as technology further developed, the price fell and is now accepted in today s
markets. The other component of these pigments is the dyestuffs that are used. To get a different
color of the dye, color technologists can vary degrees of either rhodamine or coumarin. (Color

Babbage was so fascinated with designing his analytical engine that he never built one. One
design would suggest an improvement, then another, and another because he could never stop
short of perfection. Shortly before his death in 1871 he wrote: If I survive some few years
longer, the Analytical Engine will exist, and its works will afterwards be spread over the world.
For more than a century his work would lie dormant, waiting other times and other people to
advance his seminal ideas.
One of the few bright spots in Babbage s life was his friendship with Augusta Ada (1816 1852),
countess of Lovelace and daughter of the poet Lord Byron. The countess had a gift for
mathematics and engineering and was one of the few who really understood Babbage s work. She
wrote treatises on his work, expressed his ideas better than he could, and wrote programs for the
computer. She warned people against becoming dependent on the computer, which has no

Political Campaign Contributions Of The United States Essay
Political Campaign Contributions Recently in the U.S., the most frequent mentioned topic would
be 2016 presidential election. People on both sides have donated to political campaigns from the
very beginning. And one of the concerns is that can campaign donors write off any of these
contributions on their federal income taxes? According to the IRS, the answer is a very clear NO.
You can t deduct contributions made to a political candidate, a campaign committee, or a newsletter
fund. Advertisements in convention bulletins and admissions to dinners or programs that benefit a
political party or political candidate aren t deductible, informed in IRS Publication 529 (Political
Contributions, 2015). It is also non deductible for any of the portions of dues to lobbying or
political activities. Public funding of Presidential elections means that qualified Presidential
candidates receive federal government funds to pay for the valid expenses of their political
campaigns in both the primary and general elections. Most political contributions, for the obvious
reason of creating a more politically disinterested taxsystem, are not tax deductible. Political
contributions and its limit have a long history and evolution process. In 1896, an Industrialist
named Mark Hanna made excessive amount of contributions to candidate William McKinley. It was
controversial of the growing influence of big business in American politics. People then started to

Abigail Williams, the Villian of The Crucible by Arthur...
In writing short stories, novels, or plays, there are certain standards the writer comes to meet. He
will choose a basic story element to go by; either man versus nature, man versus man, or man
versus himself. Then, a setting that is appropriate to the writer is chosen, a place where the writer
envisions the story happening. Inevitably the characters are introduced one by one, and the writer
tries to convey their personality and instill a mental image for the reader. There have always been
the heroes, the villains and the victims. Any story can revolve particularly around any of these, but
often they all have roles that create equilibrium in the plot. However, in The Crucible, Arthur Miller
did not need to create any such... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abigail Williams accuses all of these people with only two things in mind. One of them is her
desperate desire to be in the spotlight at all times. ealthy motives are the reasons for the murdering
of innocent people.
Abigail Williams main cause for her wild accusations is a selfish one. It is to be with John Proctor, a
married man with whom she has an affair. She is sent away but all she thinks of is being reunited
with him. Abigail drinks blood, wishing to be with John Proctor, which could happen only if his
wife Elizabeth died. She then, after committing adultery and contributing to the breaking of a
marriage, is not through. Abigail pursues John and does not recognize that the affair is over. She
conveys this in saying I have something better than hope, I think! (22). Abigail does not just miss
her love, she becomes ruthless to get him back.
Abigail William s aggressive personality easily persuades the other girls to follow her footsteps,
and back up anything and everything she says. This personality also frightens people in the
courtroom to question her truthfulness, or her relation with John Proctor. Due to her forceful
behavior, the girls support Abigail, and therefore become entangled in her web of lies, sins, and
murders.
There are not many people like Abigail Williams who could send people to their death and feel no
remorse. With the exception of John

Greasy Lake Summary
In T.C. Boyles Greasy Lake, the narrator claims that he and his friends are dangerous characters
(57). However, as the story concludes the description of him and his friends are inaccurate. So how
do the narrator and his friends undermine their self proclaimed bad ness? That the narrator and his
friends are regretful by the end of the story discredits the claim. Also, they are confounded when a
situation turns out badwhich makes it seem like they haven t been in that situation before. Finally,
when their self proclaimed badness is tested, they falter and are uncommitted to being bad anymore.
In conclusion, being regretful, confounded and uncommitted undermines their claim of being bad.
Speaking about the narrator and his friends being remorseful by the conclusion of the story, they
aren t as bad as they claim to be because real bad guys aren t regretful. The moment that started
the feeling of regret and led to a series of events was when he drops the keys jumping out of the
car. He says, knowing things had gone wrong, that I was in a lot of trouble, and that the lost
ignition key was my grail and my salvation (58 59). Now, he has no escape from the situation and
what makes it even worse is when a bad character in greasy jeans and engineer boots ripped out
of the driver s door (58). The narrator and his friends are prepared to run from this altercation with
an actual bad character which diminishes their claim of being bad as he s feeling contrite and
wants to

Simpsons Family Therapy Essay
Family Referral Today I received a referral from a family who is seeking help regarding their
dysfunctional family structure. The Simpson s are a nuclear family that is having difficulties
living as a family. I have already spoken to Marge Simpson and agreed to find a way to get her
husband and children to therapy. She has very high aspirations of attending therapy with her family
because she has longed for a normal functioning family in which her husband and children interact
in a much healthier manner than they do now. She described her husband of being careless, her son
uncontrollable ate times, and her daughters disconnected from the family. We have set up the

the family as he could, her other daughter also sat on the couch but not close to Marge or the
baby, and her husband sat on the recliner way from her family as well. I tried to break the tension
that I felt in the room by asking the family how they were doing but I only got an answer from
Marge and a smile from her older daughter, Dad and son didn t seem to want to take part. I then
asked each one to introduce them selves. The first one to speak up was Marge; she introduced
herself and her baby Maggie who is one. I could tell that Marge was nervous about therapy and
her baby was just being a baby. The next one to speak up was Lisa, Lisa seemed shy but was very
polite as oppose to Homer her dad and Bart. Both Homer and Bart seemed to resemble each
other; they were careless and bored about being in therapy. During the first session boundaries
and ground rules were set. In this session my goal was to get to know the whole family and learn
about each of their concerns and what they each wanted to gain from therapy. I went around the
room and asked each one to describe how each one viewed their family structure as a whole. I let
Marge begin since she seemed to be the most eager one in starting family therapy. Her main
concerns were having her husband s support, her son s

by two daughters of one of commander of one of the forts, their traveling companions and the
Indians they encounter along the way. The story begins with Alice and Cora, the daughters of
Colonel Munro, commander of Fort William Henry, heading out from Fort Edward, accompanied
by Major Heyward, to visit their father. The three are guided by an Indian, Magua, who eventually
betrays them, in an act of revenge, and leads them into a trap.
Along the way, they encounter David Gamut, a religious signer from Conneticuit, who joins them
on their trek to the fort. Later they meet Hawkeye and two Mohican Indians, Chingachgook and his
son Uncas, who determine the Indian guide is an enemy. They attempt to capture him, but he

The restructuring process mainly detached the job rotation which is the key area to develop the

War Stories
Tim O Brien got his inspiration from multiple instances of his time served in Vietnam. O Brien
was against the war like most of the people in the United States were at the time. He was a
college student looking forward to a different future. Like many others, he received a draft
noticed on June 17th, 1968. He felt he was too good to go to war and tried to get out of being
drafted with no luck. This angered him greatly. He was drafted into the U.S. Army where he
served in the 3rd Platoon, A CO. 5th Battalion, 46th Infantry, as a foot soldier. His tour of duty
was from 1969 to 1970. The unit he was in deployed in with went to a part of Vietnam that they
called Pinkville . His time in Vietnam gave him, along with others, many stories to tell.
The Vietnam War was the longest conflict America has been involved in. The main reason for U.S.
involvement in Vietnam was to help stop the spread of communism. The theory at the time was the
Domino Effect which predicted that if Vietnam fell to communist control that all of Asia would....

example of imagery because it explains the outcome of what she did and the horrific result event
that came from it. During the closing the destruction of marigolds will affect the protagonists
attitude. The author wrote, I stood there awkward and ashamed (22) this showed her attitude
when she realized what a horrible thing she has done which also gave a very good sense of
imagery because it paints a picture of how she looked and felt. Finally The narrator used the

Initial Public Offerings Introduction And Three Ipos Essay
Initial Public Offerings Introduction and Three IPOs
IPO stands for initial public offer; it is offered by a new publicly listed company of share, and
occurs when a company goes from being privately held to publicly owned with shares trading on
stock market. IPO could fund for new companies. It s a cheaper way to raise funds than issuing
bonds and borrowing from banks, but required funding will not be raised when people don t buy
its share (Viney 2015). Although Australian IPO is not as stable as in China, always increasing in
the first a few days, it still attracts many investors.
A company has to meet ASX listing requirements in order to be listed. ASX requires a company s

Essay on Nationalism in German Music During the Early...
Nationalism in German Music During the Early Romantic Period
Until the nineteenth century, music was generally regarded as an international language. Folk
music had always been in place and linked directly with particular regions. On a larger scale
though, European music was a device for expression through the application of Italian techniques
and styles. In other words, its technical vocabulary was Italian, and from the time of the early
baroque, European music, in general, had evolved its styles and technical devices from the
developments of Italian composers. Furthermore, court opera was nearly always performed in
Italian, whether in Dresden or in London, no matter who composed it or where it was performed.

Sonatas written a few years later are designated for the Hammerklavier and not for the pianoforte,
Italian for piano. Such subtle changes in traditional composition direction foreshadowed ever
increasing tendencies toward German nationalistic ideas in music. As Henry Raynor puts it, the
Napoleonic invasions which turned Beethoven from a simple revolutionary into a patriotic
Austrian revolutionary seem to have made him feel that his own language was a perfectly
satisfactory way of telling pianists how he wanted his music played. These early feelings of
nationalism, if not just for Beethoven, stemmed from the years of unity under the auspices of
Napoleon s Empire, which gave a considerable portion of central Europe reason to realize their
collective similarities. This large area shared a common language and historical legacy. Traditions
were similar as were aspirations. Indeed, ...the complex that was to become the German Empire
presented a more or less homogeneous state, united by language and culture but forced by political
organization into political disunity... Nonetheless, the idea of German unity had surfaced years
earlier, long before the revolutionary borders of Central Europe were rationalized by Napoleon and
before Beethoven s use of German vocabulary for instruction in his music. The prominent German
Enlightenment thinkers Johann Gottfried Herder and Johann Gottlieb Fichte had espoused that

communities (Davis, Schoorman and Donaldson, 1997, citied in Ghoshal, 2005: 81).
2.3 Background of financial crisis
The 2008 global financial recession has been described a once in a century credit tsunami
(Earle, 2009: 785). This is a disastrous blow to global financial community. Bullard (et al, 2009,
citied in Hu et at, 2012) points out that many economists regarded the global financial crisis as
the most serious global finance disaster since 1930s. Compared with only 11 banks was
bankruptcy during 2003 to 2007, at least 160 American banks went broke in 2008 and 2009 (Fdic,
2011, citied in Hu et al, 2012). From this statistics, it is not difficult to know how strong influence
brought by this financial crisis.
There is a close link between the 2008 global financial crisis and sub prime crisis. Bernake (2007,
citied in Hlenzerjr and Zhao, 2012) asserts that sub prime mortgages are loans made to borrowers
who are perceived to have a high credit risk, often because they lack a strong credit history or have
other characteristics that are associated with high probabilities of default . Furthermore, during
1990 to 2000, because of the IT

Canada s Economy And The Economy
Canada s economy is currently growing and statistics show the economy is expected to continue
to grow in the following years. In addition, consumer spending has increased and the housing
market conditions have improved. The demand for oil and energy is at an all time high and the
demand is expected to increase through 2017. However, expanded a business into a new market
also comes with high risks and potential losses. Major corporations such as Target have tried to
enter the Canadian market, but ended up failing and losing profits. In this section, I will discuss
economic conditions, business conditions, and risks.
Economic Conditions
Canada is similar to the US in its market oriented economic system, production, and standards of
living. Canada s economy grew steadily from 1993 through 2007; however, due to downturns in
the global financial markets, Canada s economy followed suit. By the end of 2008 s meltdown,
Ottawa experienced its first financial deficit in twelve years. Canada s major banks, however,
emerged from the financial crisis of 2008 09 among the strongest in the world, owing to the
early intervention by the Bank of Canada and the financial sector s tradition of conservation
lending practices and strong capitalization (CIA, 2015). Canada achieved some moderate growth
in 2010 14 and plans to balance the budget by the end of 2015, despite the recent drop in oil
prices. Previous growth in its dealings with the U.S. have made Canada the world s fifth largest oil

My Identity Essay
My Identity What is my identity? I think my identity at the moment is Mexican, 15 years old, a
student, and more. I am still trying to figure out more things of my identity at the moment. For
right now these are some of my identity and things that mean a lot to me. As I said before I am
mexican. Most of my family was born and raised in Sinaloa, Mexico. They were born in a ranch
called La Quebrada de Los Sandovales . Last year I got to go there for the first time. It looks
really old but the river is so beautiful. I loved how the people there knew each other. Since I was
born my mom made me believe in the virgen de guadalupe. She is the mother of Jesus Christ.
Mostly every year On December 12 my family and me go to church to celebrate her. They bring
music to sing to her. It is always beautiful. On this day we also celebrate my birthday. I am so
grateful to be born on this day. As I was saying in the second paragraph, since my parents are
mexican they taught me spanish. Being bilingual for me is so important because I get to help
others. At school there are times are a lot of times I make new friends just by translating things
for them. I am glad I am latina because I know that it will help me in the future some way. There
are some things I like doing with others which are movies and sports. I have always liked
watching movies. I don t really mind what kind of movie it is. I like fantasy movies the best or

be concluded that Pepsi has been a strong competitor to Coke and that throughout history they
have been performing at comparable rates. Each has a similar background and customer base,
but there are some differences between the two companies and their individual performance
overall. It is clear that Pepsi holds a major stake in the market and is somewhat ahead of Coca
Cola in market share and productivity. Although both companies appear to be competing neck

of both. Coke is wildly popular and is considered an American institution, but many seek
different tastes and this is where Pepsi has been taking some of the market share as some
consumers opt for Pepsi as their choice of beverage. Both companies represented in the graphs

Food Insecurity Research
Access to a healthy food or food security is a very important social determinate of health. Food
insecurity is the economic and social condition of a family that have limited food access or unsure
of nutritional value and quality of that food (Wang et al., 2015). In fact, nearly 49 million
Americans faced foodinsecurity in 2012 (Wang et al., 2015). Food insecurity is associated with
depression, management of the chronic diseases, and worse HIV outcomes (Wang et al., 2015).
Also, a study showed that food insecurity is linked to poor glycemic control, inability to control
blood pressure and cholesterol level (Berkowitz et al., 2013).
There are many examples of individual interventions to address or limit food insecurity. One
example includes breast feeding. Breast feeding is considered one of the best low cost interventions
to use in order to protect the child and the mother s health and reduce food insecurity. The world
health organization recommends all mothers to breastfeed for 6 months and continues breastfeeding
up to 2 years (WHO, 2017). Breast feeding provides nutrients and energy for the babies and helps
the mother to reduce breast and ovarian cancer (WHO, 2017). In another words ... Show more

Tax Benefits Of The Tax
Under the tax law, certain tax benefits can significantly reduce a taxpayer s regular tax amount. The
alternative minimum tax (AMT) applies to taxpayers with high income by setting a limit on those
benefits. It helps to ensure that those taxpayers pay at least a minimum amount of tax. The AMT is
the excess of the tentative minimum taxover the regular tax. Therefore, the AMT is owed only if the
tentative minimum tax is greater than the regular tax. The tentative minimum tax is figured
separately from the regular tax. In general, compute the tentative minimum tax by:
1.Computing taxable income eliminating or reducing certain exclusions and deductions, and taking
into account differences with respect to when certain items are taken into account in computing
regular taxable income and alternative minimum taxable income (AMTI)
2.Subtracting the AMT exemption amount
3.Multiplying the amount computed in (2) by the appropriate AMT tax rates
4.Subtracting the AMT foreign tax credit (IRS.gov, 2016) (p. 1)
The federal tax law sets the AMT exemption amounts and AMT tax rates. Taxpayers can use the
special capital gain rates in effect for the regular tax if they are lower than the AMT tax rates
that would otherwise apply. Some tax credits that reduce regular tax liability do not reduce AMT
tax liability. If a taxpayer is not liable for AMT this year, but he or she paid AMT in one or more
previous years, they may be eligible to take a special minimum tax credit against their

The Metamorphosis Theme
The Metamorphosis by Kafka presents readers with an intensely claustrophobic and absurd
premise featuring a protagonist that is so used to living like an insect and so consumed with guilt
that these elements of his life finally take over and lead to his demise. In this world Kafka creates,
Gregor lives like an insecteven before his metamorphosis and this theme is developed at the
beginning of the story when he wakes up to find that he has become what he most resembled in his
life.
The idea of guilt and scurrying about to please others figures prominently in this text and it is
useful to look at the ways in which a compounding sense of guilt leads to Gregor s final resignation
to death in Kafka s short story, The Metamorphosis. For a man ... Show more content on

His fate, it seems, is to provide for his family and there are several instances in which he laments
his inability to provide for his mother, father, and dear sister. The narrator states, revealing one
of these themes in The Metamorphosis , Gregor s sole desire was to do his utmost to help the
family to forget as soon as possible the catastrophe which had overwhelmed the business and
thrown them all into a state of complete despair (95) and this sense of blind duty compels him to
work a meaningless, menial job that has both figuratively and literally turned him into a filthy,
scuttling, and helpless insect. While this is true on a more basic level, the root of Gregor s
problem stems from a deep seated feeling of guilt, an emotion that eventually leads to his
demise. By the end of the story, Gregor has completely lost his purpose and for a man that once
existed simply as a utilitarian creature (again, like an insect since he lives only to fulfill his duty
to the group). At one point, his feelings of uselessness are described as, Gregor was now cut off
from his mother, who was perhaps nearly dying because of him; he dared not open the door for
fear of frightening his sister, who had to stay with her mother, there was nothing he could do but
wait; and harassed by self reproach and worry he began to crawl to and fro (109) and it is clear
that the guilt of being useless is mounting and leading to his resignation in the face of

Inside Rap Music Essay
Inside Rap Music
Music, like mass media and television, has such a powerful influence on our society. People
think rap music is very negative towards society, which is not the case. Rappers teach people
about possible consequences a person may encounter if they choose the same route. Rappers tell
their life experience through their songs. Rap music does not influence violence; it educates
people on what is going on in the lives of urban people. When someone mentions rap music, the
first thing some people think is violence, sex, and drugs, negative, and worthless music. There are
a number of rappers that do and sell drugs, live the crime life, and do jail time. The message that

Prostate Cancer Recovery
PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PSYCHOSEXUAL ADJUSTMENT OF PROSTATE CANCER
Sexual dysfunction represents a prevalent long term complication among prostate cancer survivors
with a wide spectrum of manifestations and a huge impact on quality of life [4]. Resnick et al
(2013) reported long term effects of sexual function after radical prostate cancer treatment reported
by prostate cancer survivors. As shown in a 15 yr follow up study consisted of 1655 men who had
localized prostate cancer the decline in erectile function following treatment is progressive,
regardless of treatment type (eg, surgery, radiation therapy). (20)
Unfortunately all treatment for prostate cancer can impact ED. While there are a number of
medical options for managing this, the emotional and psychological impact can be profound. It is
important that the patient is prepared for the likely possibility that recovery of ED will take a long
time. There are numerous treatments available to try before any improvements may be seen,
patients should view this recovery as rehabilitation. (21)
When analysing ED from a psychological perspective, the sense of a mans masculine identity

Third Grade ELA Classroom Analysis
Third grade composition is very subjective to instruction. Teaching students the basic structure of
literature is a key component to helping them to communicate in a meaningful way. One of the
basic concepts to literature is identifying the importance of the main idea and supporting details in
writing. There are a variety of ways to explore the concept of the main idea and supporting details
of literary works. Mrs. Peterson tackled this exact concept with her third grade ELA class using a
variety of instructional strategies and learningactivities.
Mrs. Peterson began her lesson by using a goal setting strategy. This strategy was utilized by
beginning with the end result in mind. Mrs. Peterson framed the lesson by stating what the
learning objectives and goals were for her students before the lesson even took place. She also
posted the learning objectives on the board for students to view during the lesson. This tactic is
helpful in case students get off track, they can easily be reminded what the desired results are for
the end of the lesson.
Once lesson objectives were clearly communicated, Mrs. Peterson integrated academic vocabulary
using notes from the previous lesson. Journaling is a strategy that is used on a daily basis in Mrs. ...

Fate in a strange way wanted it all to work out and it wanted Romeo and Juliet to be truly happy.
However there was always something more being thrown at them making their love something
that looked more impossible rather than possible. Romeo and Juliet are stuck in this bad fortune
and Romeo even goes as far as to say I am fortune s fool . This is significant because it is saying
that their free will to love each other and be together is nonexistent. They are doomed from the
start no matter what actions they try and take their destiny is in not in their favor. Love however
in this story is the entire meaning to everything. Love is why Romeo and Juliet die. Love is why
everything gets so complicated and so upsetting. Love is everything and more in this play and
leads up to the most tragic endings to a love story in the history of love stories and the most
unexpected losses for two lovers and their families. Romeo and Juliet found love the moment they
set eyes on each other and they knew it was for real and forever in that very moment.

together British tailoring with Americana design, with subtle hints of Japanese characters. As a
result, Superdry is a unique clothing brand with an exceptional amount of detail, leading to it
being a very popular brand for those 16 35. Another aspect that has made the brand so popular is

not Superdry. They are one of very few stores that are actually doing well through this period. Due
to Superdrys success and distinctive look, other companies have openly looked to copy them.
Some comical examples of these are Superfry and Silverdry. As a result, Superdry spends

most materials this is an estimated 20% of landfill space ( Why recycle?, n.d.). A shocking 250
thousand tonnes of plastic in landfills (Judd, 2011). This is primarily because plastic is not
biodegradable ( Polluted planet: Plastic waste, 2011), but our business aims to address this
problem. Crates are very useful storage containers, which our business will break down plastic
waste into raw material, to make reusable recyclable, Green Crates. By cooperating with large
supermarkets, we will spread drop boxes in their stores where people will earn discount points
towards their shopping, if they drop their plastic waste into these boxes. In addition, we will give a
20% reward of the crates value, if our crates are

The Dream Argument by Rene Descartes Essay
One of Rene Descartes s most famous arguments, from his not only from his first meditation but
all of the meditations, is his Dream Argument. Descartes believes that there is no way to be able
to distinguish being in awake from being in a state of dreaming. In fact you could actually be in a
dream right now. Rene Descartes s theory that one is unable distinguish being awake from
dreaming, as interesting as it is, can be at times a little farfetched, along with a few contradictions
to himself, Descartes s dreamargument does not entitle himself to any sort of claim.
Descartes wrote the Meditations on First Philosophy were first published in the year 1641 in Latin.
There are six total Meditations that Descartes had written. One thing that ... Show more content on

It is deception from the sense that causes this mistrust for Descartes and brings forth the Dream
Argument. The human senses as well feel very real, just as they do in reality, and this is one of
the first things that have Descartes question the differences between being awake and dream.
Due to the trust issues it he becomes unsure of whether he is dreaming or not. When it comes to
dreaming Descartes thinks that there could possibility that some certain God that may have
easily deceived him in falsely believing in things could appear to be correct but are not.
However Descartes says that it God is described as a supremely good being (Descartes, 21). God
has always been a being that is worshiped and why would so many people worship an evil God if
he brings no positives to their lives. Descartes however is not 100 percent positive on whether God
is being deceptive or not being deceptive. James Hill says that [the] key move that Descartes then
makes is to highlight the lack of insight one has into one s condition when dreaming. It is this lack
of insight, and Descartes way of interpreting it, which forms the backbone of the dreaming
argument (Hill, 2). To shorten that down, the minimal explanations to why and how dreams occur
is the foundation for Descartes s Dream Argument.
The main idea of Descartes is that there is no difference between being awake and dreaming.
Descartes says there are no definite signs to differ dreaming from being awake. You could be

Death Of Benny Paret Rhetorical Analysis
Death of Benny Paret EssayMolly DauntPeriod 5 Norman Mailer uses imagery to negatively
depict boxing. This passage is based upon Benny Parent and Griffith, who are club fighters.
Mailer uses imagery to describe the violence of the fight. Motifs that are used in this passage are
death, simile, and animalistic imagery. Mailer witnesses the tragic death of Paret. Through many
motifs, Mailer is able to have an effect on his audience, allowing them to feel the same horror.
The passage centers on death and Mailer uses imagery to go into detail and explain how
horrifying the death of Paret was. While Griffith was dominating Paret before the round was over,
Paret began to wilt. This creates an image in the readers head about how Paret is beginning to
suffer. When Paret died, Mailer explains how his death affected the crowd. As he took the punches,
something happened to everyone who was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Animal imagery is used to give the reader a better understanding of the message the author is
trying to convey and to produce more vivid descriptions. During a round Mailer explain Griffiths
attack Griffith was like a cat ready to rip the life out of a huge boxed rat. Mailer is describing an
image in your mind that Griffith is intense and wants to win his fight against Paret. This also
creates an imagine in readers head of Griffith looking so furious and hyped up, like his veins
were popping out and he was growling like a bear. Griffith making a pent up whimpering sound
all the while he attacked. This is like an animal, such as a lion, which is furious and about to
attack their prey. ...and then he leaped on Griffith to pull him away. His trainer leaped into the
ring, his manager, his cut man, there were four people holding Griffith, but he was off on an
orgy... The word leaped creates an imagine of an animal prancing in joy or hunger, and this is what
comes to mind as readers read this part of the

Abstract
Small circular pieces of DNA molecules located inside the nucleoid in bacterial species
(prokaryotes) are known
as Plasmids.Plasmids do not dictate the survival of the host bacteria, but it can give rise to certain
genes being
activated, if required, providing certain benefits. Survival and reproduction in different
environments can be considered
as one of these benefits. In this experiment we add different ... Show more content on

forming into its own small colonies. No growth is also a possible outcome.
The experiment contained a total of six different petri dishes, each containing different treatments to
the E. coli.
The first petri dish held ampicillin resistance gene, luria broth and E. Coli. This served as a positive
control since there
was basically nothing to stop the E. Coli from growing. The petri dish containing E.Coli, Luria
Broth and ampicillin
with no plasmids provided us with the opposite results. There was no growth. Since there were no
plasmids in the dish
all the E. Coli died hence showing no growth.
In general E. Coli growth was directly proportional to the presence of ampicillin. If it so happens
there was
ampicillin in a petri dish with either the lux or ampicillin resistance gene, the result would depict a
colonial growth.
This is because the ampicillin and plasmid attack one another hence some die and the others live.
On the other hand if
there no ampicillin presents the petri dish would depict a lawn growth, because there is no
ampicillin there to replicate.
Introduction
We began the experiment by adding plasmids, a vector, to the bacteria E. Coli to see the E. Coli
growth with the plasmids in its DNA. Our results will conclude for us the correlation between the
transformation of a plasmid and the growth of E. Coli. The process of

Essay on The Donner Party Tragedy
In the early 1900s, the United States had an increase of settlers leaving their hometowns to the
west in the faith of being able to live in a more catholic freedom world, others also joined by the
inspiration of Manifest Destiny, a thought in which the Americans thought that everything between
the Atlantic and the Pacific ocean is theirs and should therefore settled by them. A group, that
was on the way to the western U.S., for those reasons in 1846, had a tragic loss of 34 settlers due
to many tragic events. This group was led by George Donner, which was elected the leader of this
group on 19 July 1846, this group inherited his name, called the Donner Party. The Donner Party
consisted of the families of George Donner, his brother Jacob... Show more content on

On the other hand, they also had to hurry because they still had to walk through three mountain
passes, the Sierra Nevada to California, and had only time from Spring to Fall. One of the
travelers had The Emigrants Guide to Oregon and California with them. Since different people
meet and had to live with different characters, Tamsen Donner wrote: We have of the best people
in our company and some, too, that are not so good. Since it was Spring, rain and storm were
pretty common and stopped the group on the Big Blue River. For a few people it was already
too much of what they can withstand and the first death was by Reeds grandma, the loss of her
was tragically written down by Virginia Reed: ..We made a neat coffin, and buried her under a
tree... We miss her very much. So far, there were no other major difficulties for the travelers, it was
a pretty smooth trip. Arriving to Fort Bridger about just a week behind schedule, there James Reed
meets James Clyman, an old friend who thought that the Hastings shortcut is unpractical, the old
way would be more safer, but Reed did not take the advice, he wanted to take the shortcut, probably
by the thought that a shortcut in our life also gets us to our target faster.

Growing Number Of Studies ( ЕёГ ) Essay
Growing number of studies (e.g. (Kowsari and Zerriffi, 2011; O. R. Masera et al., 2000))
investigate the impacts of various factors such as household income, and education status that
would influence household cooking fuel choice and then inform the policies to promote fuel
switching to the modern sources. Mainly, two broad conceptual models are popular in the area of
householdenergy choice and fuel transition in developing countries: Energy Ladder and Energy
Stacking Models (Elias and Victor, 2005; Hosier and Dowd, 1987; Leach, 1992; Leach and
Mearns, 1988; O. Masera et al., 2000). These models categorize energy resources into modern,
transitional and traditional fuels given that different cooking fuels are available in the region.
Modern fuels such as LPG or electricity are interpreted as superior because the inherent qualities of
these fuels are relatively superior in terms of fuel efficiency and sustainability when compared to
the traditional fuels. Transitional fuels are consumed during the transitional period; a period where
traditional fuels are in the process of being replaced by the modern fuels.
The factors influencing households fuel switching decisions in the energy ladder model are the
household income, relative fuel prices, and fuel accessibility. However, the energy ladder model
of perfect substitutability among the cooking fuels with respect to the income fails to be supported
by most empirical evidence (Heltberg, 2005; Hosier and Dowd, 1987; Lee et al.,

The Differences Of Constantine And Constantine s...
What is a proselytizer or what are proselytizer? If you are not familiar with the term, it means, to
attempt to convert someone to one s own religious faith or to persuade someone to join one s
own political party or to espouse one s doctrine . So, to make it easier to understand it means
someone helps someone else convert to a belief, either politically or religiously. In Constantine s
conversion to Christianity in the 3rd century, was he persuade by someone or did he just
happened to convert unpersuasive? Or in Agathangelos story, History of the Armenians, was
Trdat persuaded by Gregory or were there other factors that persuaded Trdat to convert? In my
research I will compare and contrast which stories were similar, which were different, and how
gender even played a role in conversion. In addition I will include how are they portrayed, who are
they, are they foreign, did they come with a goal to convert the king or did it just happen, are they
depicted realistically, and what about the stories that didn t have missionary involvement. As we
compare Eusebius s story of the life of Constantine and Argothos, History of the Armenians. Both
Kings have some similarities but one deciding factor is that they both convert differently. As we go
through eusebius s account of Constantine, Constantine is convince under his own understanding of
what Christianity is. He converts to christianity by himself. He decides to change after he does his
investigation. This only happens after he

to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. Whether
diseases start at home or abroad, are chronic or acute, curable or preventable, human error or

Stroop Effect Analysis
Attention is something that is extremely important to always have. In chapter three, the author
stated attention can be defined as a concentration of mental activity that allows you to take in a
limited portion of the vast stream of information available from both your sensory world and
memory (Shomstein, Styles, Weierich Barrett, p.79). In the Stroop Effect I can see that a person
need to have a lot of concentration in able to do it the right way. When doing the first activity it
took me about two minutes to be able to name the ink colors of the words five time through. In the
next activity it took me about five minutes to be able to name the colors in the rectangular patches
in part B five times through. It was harder than I expected

Civic Entrepreneurs
Civic entrepreneurs are helping communities cooperate to compete in the information age coming
from all experiences of life and a new gener¬ation of leaders who forge new, powerfully
productive connections at the center of business, government, education, and community. These
entrepreneurs have much to teach us about building vital and strong economic communities in
raging times and in the process, restoring civil so¬ciety from the very roots. They help
communities to collaborate, organize and develop their economic assets and to build productive,
tough relationships across the public, private, and civil divisions that misrepresent the ties that bind
economy and community for their shared benefits. The provision of the continuity of work on
tough issues and continue working overtime is a trait of a civic entrepreneur.

Usage Of Different Recording Methods Essay
Usage of different recording methods to observe children s learning and development
Observing children in their natural environments (home, classroom, and outdoors) and recording
their observations are considered important strategies that teachers need to do in order to follow up
children s learning progress and development at the Foundation Stage (Forman, and Hall, 2005).
The observation, which is defined as the process of watching a child at work or play without
interfering in the activity , and recording, the process of documenting the observed activity or
behaviour were found useful to obtain solid information about Early Years children which can be
shared with parents and other members of the teaching team to enable them to design specific
learning plans and outcomes that fulfil the needs of each child (Laffranchinid, 2015). Recording
and organising the observations of children leads to purposeful planning and individualising of the
curriculum.
In general, the scope of observations is either to assess a child or group of children; or to evaluate
the effectiveness of provision. However, specific purposes for observation may vary for different
children (Nursery world, 2006). Observation of a child at the foundation stage may involve child s
developmental level, personality and temperament characteristics, gender based behaviour, learning
style, interests, strengths and needs, self concept and confidence. Therefore, several methods of
recordings were proposed to

  • 2. In The Skin Of A Lion Essay The Unknown History The genre of historical fiction is loved by many authors as it allows them to use the past as an inspiration while writing a fictional story that will captivate the readers. In the novel In the Skin of a Lion by Michael Ondaatje, the rich history is explored throughout the novel with the theme of the unfair treatment of immigrants, the construction of both the Bloor Street Viaduct and the Queen Street Waterworks and the character of Rowland Harris. By looking at the historical facts in the novel, we can see why it s considered a historical fiction novel, which most readers fail to recognize; this is important because Ondaatje chooses this writing style so that the readers can learn about the rich history of Toronto through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the novel, Ondaatje names him Rowland Harris and he s a secondary character in the story. However, that being said, Rowland Harris is portrayed as a visionary, a dreamer and an achiever. The author does a great job of bringing this character in the story all while maintaining some great accomplishments in his life. Roland Harris envisioned a lot of aspects that Toronto now has. During Harris and Patrick s conversation at The Queen Street Waterworks, Harris says It turned out I was dreaming about projects for the city that had been rejected over the years. Wonderful things that were said to be too vulgar or expensive, too this too that. (Ondaatje 237) Roland Harris was a great architect for the city of Toronto, he was a visionary and wanted to make the city of Toronto grow. This is directly linked to Toronto s history and Ondaatje uses that secondary character who the readers don t see a lot throughout the book to talk about someone who dreamed big for Toronto. Harris even says to Patrick I mean the Bloor Street Viaduct and this building here are just a hint of what could have been done here. (Ondaatje 237) For someone who was a visionary for Toronto, the sky would have been the limit if he had the money and the right to keep making the city grow. The Character of Harris has played a valuable part in the way Toronto is shaped today and Ondaatje knew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Dayglo Fluorescent Pigments Research Paper Fluorescent pigments are a special type of pigment that have the unique ability to reemit a greater frequency of light. Fluorescent pigments absorb the light frequencies that are emitted onto them, and reemit them. Fluorescent pigments stand out to the human eye making them a great pigment for advertising use, children s toys, safety protection wear, and many other commercial uses. Fluorescent pigments were invented in the 1940 s by the Switzer brothers. Bob was a working man and Joe was an amateur magician. Unfortunately, Bob was seriously injured and fractured his head on the job. He had to spend months in the hospital recovering from his injuries. Since his head was fractured, he had to avoid bright light. Since they were in the dark all of the time, both Bob and Joe Switzer developed a curiosity about illuminating fluorescent pigments to enhance Joe s magic show. ( DayGlo Fluorescent Pigments ).They realized that there were many fluorescing compounds in nature, and when combined with shellac, they were successful ( DayGlo Fluorescent Pigments ). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shortly after the Switzer brothers started the process, the common way of developing the fluorescent pigment was the bulk polycondensation method. (Color Technology for Plastics). This method uses the reactions of formaldehyde, melamine, and toluene sulfonamide. The method further developed in the 1970 s when scientists found a technique to suspend a droplet, which allowed a higher degree of polymerization. At first this method was very expensive and brought out a poor color, but as technology further developed, the price fell and is now accepted in today s markets. The other component of these pigments is the dyestuffs that are used. To get a different color of the dye, color technologists can vary degrees of either rhodamine or coumarin. • 6. Political Campaign Contributions Of The United States Essay Political Campaign Contributions Recently in the U.S., the most frequent mentioned topic would be 2016 presidential election. People on both sides have donated to political campaigns from the very beginning. And one of the concerns is that can campaign donors write off any of these contributions on their federal income taxes? According to the IRS, the answer is a very clear NO. You can t deduct contributions made to a political candidate, a campaign committee, or a newsletter fund. Advertisements in convention bulletins and admissions to dinners or programs that benefit a political party or political candidate aren t deductible, informed in IRS Publication 529 (Political Contributions, 2015). It is also non deductible for any of the portions of dues to lobbying or political activities. Public funding of Presidential elections means that qualified Presidential candidates receive federal government funds to pay for the valid expenses of their political campaigns in both the primary and general elections. • 7. Abigail Williams, the Villian of The Crucible by Arthur... In writing short stories, novels, or plays, there are certain standards the writer comes to meet. He will choose a basic story element to go by; either man versus nature, man versus man, or man versus himself. Then, a setting that is appropriate to the writer is chosen, a place where the writer envisions the story happening. Inevitably the characters are introduced one by one, and the writer tries to convey their personality and instill a mental image for the reader. There have always been the heroes, the villains and the victims. Any story can revolve particularly around any of these, but often they all have roles that create equilibrium in the plot. However, in The Crucible, Arthur Miller did not need to create any such... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abigail Williams accuses all of these people with only two things in mind. One of them is her desperate desire to be in the spotlight at all times. ealthy motives are the reasons for the murdering of innocent people. Abigail Williams main cause for her wild accusations is a selfish one. It is to be with John Proctor, a married man with whom she has an affair. She then, after committing adultery and contributing to the breaking of a marriage, is not through. Abigail pursues John and does not recognize that the affair is over. She conveys this in saying I have something better than hope, I think! (22). Abigail does not just miss her love, she becomes ruthless to get him back. Abigail William s aggressive personality easily persuades the other girls to follow her footsteps, and back up anything and everything she says. This personality also frightens people in the courtroom to question her truthfulness, or her relation with John Proctor. Due to her forceful behavior, the girls support Abigail, and therefore become entangled in her web of lies, sins, and murders. • 8. Greasy Lake Summary In T.C. Boyles Greasy Lake, the narrator claims that he and his friends are dangerous characters (57). However, as the story concludes the description of him and his friends are inaccurate. So how do the narrator and his friends undermine their self proclaimed bad ness? That the narrator and his friends are regretful by the end of the story discredits the claim. Also, they are confounded when a situation turns out badwhich makes it seem like they haven t been in that situation before. Finally, when their self proclaimed badness is tested, they falter and are uncommitted to being bad anymore. In conclusion, being regretful, confounded and uncommitted undermines their claim of being bad. Speaking about the narrator and his friends being remorseful by the conclusion of the story, they aren t as bad as they claim to be because real bad guys aren t regretful. The moment that started the feeling of regret and led to a series of events was when he drops the keys jumping out of the car. He says, knowing things had gone wrong, that I was in a lot of trouble, and that the lost ignition key was my grail and my salvation (58 59). Now, he has no escape from the situation and what makes it even worse is when a bad character in greasy jeans and engineer boots ripped out of the driver s door (58). The narrator and his friends are prepared to run from this altercation with an actual bad character which diminishes their claim of being bad as he s feeling contrite and wants to ... Like many others, he received a draft noticed on June 17th, 1968. He felt he was too good to go to war and tried to get out of being drafted with no luck. This angered him greatly. He was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in the 3rd Platoon, A CO. 5th Battalion, 46th Infantry, as a foot soldier. His tour of duty was from 1969 to 1970. The unit he was in deployed in with went to a part of Vietnam that they called Pinkville . His time in Vietnam gave him, along with others, many stories to tell. The Vietnam War was the longest conflict America has been involved in. The main reason for U.S. involvement in Vietnam was to help stop the spread of communism. • 17. Initial Public Offerings Introduction And Three Ipos Essay Initial Public Offerings Introduction and Three IPOs IPO stands for initial public offer; it is offered by a new publicly listed company of share, and occurs when a company goes from being privately held to publicly owned with shares trading on stock market. IPO could fund for new companies. It s a cheaper way to raise funds than issuing bonds and borrowing from banks, but required funding will not be raised when people don t buy its share (Viney 2015). Although Australian IPO is not as stable as in China, always increasing in the first a few days, it still attracts many investors. A company has to meet ASX listing requirements in order to be listed. ASX requires a company s minimum investment value, current annual profit, required documents and many other factors (ASX 2016). • 18. Essay on Nationalism in German Music During the Early... Nationalism in German Music During the Early Romantic Period Until the nineteenth century, music was generally regarded as an international language. Folk music had always been in place and linked directly with particular regions. On a larger scale though, European music was a device for expression through the application of Italian techniques and styles. In other words, its technical vocabulary was Italian, and from the time of the early baroque, European music, in general, had evolved its styles and technical devices from the developments of Italian composers. Furthermore, court opera was nearly always performed in Italian, whether in Dresden or in London, no matter who composed it or where it was performed. For example, ... Such subtle changes in traditional composition direction foreshadowed ever increasing tendencies toward German nationalistic ideas in music. As Henry Raynor puts it, the Napoleonic invasions which turned Beethoven from a simple revolutionary into a patriotic Austrian revolutionary seem to have made him feel that his own language was a perfectly satisfactory way of telling pianists how he wanted his music played. These early feelings of nationalism, if not just for Beethoven, stemmed from the years of unity under the auspices of Napoleon s Empire, which gave a considerable portion of central Europe reason to realize their collective similarities. This large area shared a common language and historical legacy. Traditions were similar as were aspirations. Indeed, ...the complex that was to become the German Empire presented a more or less homogeneous state, united by language and culture but forced by political organization into political disunity... By the end of 2008 s meltdown, Ottawa experienced its first financial deficit in twelve years. Canada s major banks, however, emerged from the financial crisis of 2008 09 among the strongest in the world, owing to the early intervention by the Bank of Canada and the financial sector s tradition of conservation lending practices and strong capitalization (CIA, 2015). Food insecurity is the economic and social condition of a family that have limited food access or unsure of nutritional value and quality of that food (Wang et al., 2015). In fact, nearly 49 million Americans faced foodinsecurity in 2012 (Wang et al., 2015). • 28. Tax Benefits Of The Tax Under the tax law, certain tax benefits can significantly reduce a taxpayer s regular tax amount. The alternative minimum tax (AMT) applies to taxpayers with high income by setting a limit on those benefits. It helps to ensure that those taxpayers pay at least a minimum amount of tax. The AMT is the excess of the tentative minimum taxover the regular tax. Therefore, the AMT is owed only if the tentative minimum tax is greater than the regular tax. The tentative minimum tax is figured separately from the regular tax. In general, compute the tentative minimum tax by: 1.Computing taxable income eliminating or reducing certain exclusions and deductions, and taking into account differences with respect to when certain items are taken into account in computing regular taxable income and alternative minimum taxable income (AMTI) 2.Subtracting the AMT exemption amount 3.Multiplying the amount computed in (2) by the appropriate AMT tax rates 4.Subtracting the AMT foreign tax credit (IRS.gov, 2016) (p. 1) The federal tax law sets the AMT exemption amounts and AMT tax rates. Taxpayers can use the special capital gain rates in effect for the regular tax if they are lower than the AMT tax rates that would otherwise apply. When it comes to defining lovethere is no true definition of love. When it comes to fate there is no true definition either; fate is out of our control, and is determined by the super natural. And loss, loss affects everyone, it affects people in different ways however it s always there and sometimes comes when we least expect it to. Especially in Romeo... However there was always something more being thrown at them making their love something that looked more impossible rather than possible. Romeo and Juliet are stuck in this bad fortune and Romeo even goes as far as to say I am fortune s fool . This is significant because it is saying that their free will to love each other and be together is nonexistent. They are doomed from the start no matter what actions they try and take their destiny is in not in their favor. Love however in this story is the entire meaning to everything. Love is why Romeo and Juliet die. Love is why everything gets so complicated and so upsetting. Love is everything and more in this play and leads up to the most tragic endings to a love story in the history of love stories and the most unexpected losses for two lovers and their families. Romeo and Juliet found love the moment they set eyes on each other and they knew it was for real and forever in that very moment. I will also explain key stakeholder concerns, business ethics, sustainabilityand Kaitiakitanga; where I will also talk about the challenges our business will face. By recognising these challenges and making improvements, Green Crates can ultimately reduce plastic waste going into landfills now, and in the future. Plastic waste is a major problem in New Zealand ( Why recycle?, n.d.). • 39. The Dream Argument by Rene Descartes Essay One of Rene Descartes s most famous arguments, from his not only from his first meditation but all of the meditations, is his Dream Argument. Descartes believes that there is no way to be able to distinguish being in awake from being in a state of dreaming. In fact you could actually be in a dream right now. Rene Descartes s theory that one is unable distinguish being awake from dreaming, as interesting as it is, can be at times a little farfetched, along with a few contradictions to himself, Descartes s dreamargument does not entitle himself to any sort of claim. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is deception from the sense that causes this mistrust for Descartes and brings forth the Dream Argument. The human senses as well feel very real, just as they do in reality, and this is one of the first things that have Descartes question the differences between being awake and dream. Due to the trust issues it he becomes unsure of whether he is dreaming or not. When it comes to dreaming Descartes thinks that there could possibility that some certain God that may have easily deceived him in falsely believing in things could appear to be correct but are not. However Descartes says that it God is described as a supremely good being (Descartes, 21). God has always been a being that is worshiped and why would so many people worship an evil God if he brings no positives to their lives. Descartes however is not 100 percent positive on whether God is being deceptive or not being deceptive. James Hill says that [the] key move that Descartes then makes is to highlight the lack of insight one has into one s condition when dreaming. It is this lack of insight, and Descartes way of interpreting it, which forms the backbone of the dreaming argument (Hill, 2). To shorten that down, the minimal explanations to why and how dreams occur is the foundation for Descartes s Dream Argument. The main idea of Descartes is that there is no difference between being awake and dreaming. Descartes says there are no definite signs to differ dreaming from being awake. You could be possibly ... There was no growth. Since there were no plasmids in the dish all the E. Coli died hence showing no growth. In general E. Coli growth was directly proportional to the presence of ampicillin. If it so happens there was ampicillin in a petri dish with either the lux or ampicillin resistance gene, the result would depict a colonial growth. This is because the ampicillin and plasmid attack one another hence some die and the others live. On the other hand if there no ampicillin presents the petri dish would depict a lawn growth, because there is no ampicillin there to replicate. Masera et al., 2000)) investigate the impacts of various factors such as household income, and education status that would influence household cooking fuel choice and then inform the policies to promote fuel switching to the modern sources. Mainly, two broad conceptual models are popular in the area of householdenergy choice and fuel transition in developing countries: Energy Ladder and Energy Stacking Models (Elias and Victor, 2005; Hosier and Dowd, 1987; Leach, 1992; Leach and Mearns, 1988; O. Masera et al., 2000). These models categorize energy resources into modern, transitional and traditional fuels given that different cooking fuels are available in the region. Modern fuels such as LPG or electricity are interpreted as superior because the inherent qualities of these fuels are relatively superior in terms of fuel efficiency and sustainability when compared to the traditional fuels. Transitional fuels are consumed during the transitional period; a period where traditional fuels are in the process of being replaced by the modern fuels. The factors influencing households fuel switching decisions in the energy ladder model are the household income, relative fuel prices, and fuel accessibility. However, the energy ladder model of perfect substitutability among the cooking fuels with respect to the income fails to be supported by most empirical evidence (Heltberg, 2005; Hosier and Dowd, 1987; Lee et al., ... If you are not familiar with the term, it means, to attempt to convert someone to one s own religious faith or to persuade someone to join one s own political party or to espouse one s doctrine . So, to make it easier to understand it means someone helps someone else convert to a belief, either politically or religiously. In Constantine s conversion to Christianity in the 3rd century, was he persuade by someone or did he just happened to convert unpersuasive? Or in Agathangelos story, History of the Armenians, was Trdat persuaded by Gregory or were there other factors that persuaded Trdat to convert? In my research I will compare and contrast which stories were similar, which were different, and how gender even played a role in conversion. In addition I will include how are they portrayed, who are they, are they foreign, did they come with a goal to convert the king or did it just happen, are they depicted realistically, and what about the stories that didn t have missionary involvement. As we compare Eusebius s story of the life of Constantine and Argothos, History of the Armenians. Both Kings have some similarities but one deciding factor is that they both convert differently. Usage Of Different Recording Methods Essay Usage of different recording methods to observe children s learning and development Observing children in their natural environments (home, classroom, and outdoors) and recording their observations are considered important strategies that teachers need to do in order to follow up children s learning progress and development at the Foundation Stage (Forman, and Hall, 2005). The observation, which is defined as the process of watching a child at work or play without interfering in the activity , and recording, the process of documenting the observed activity or behaviour were found useful to obtain solid information about Early Years children which can be shared with parents and other members of the teaching team to enable them to design specific learning plans and outcomes that fulfil the needs of each child (Laffranchinid, 2015). Recording and organising the observations of children leads to purposeful planning and individualising of the curriculum. In general, the scope of observations is either to assess a child or group of children; or to evaluate the effectiveness of provision.
