Organizational Change Activities
Organizational Change Activities Change activities are healthy for an organization. They keep it up to
date and relevant within the market place. There are a number of reasons as to why organizations need
to change; essentially the organization is in need of a change of because of external factors or a need
for a change within the organizational culture. External evolutions of technological and cultural
factors can all impact the success of an intended organizational change. Still, such change is often
needed to keep an organization healthy. Organizations engage in change activities for a wide number
of reasons. Overall, the main reason is to increase the overall success of the organization, whether it is
the operational flow or the organizational culture itself. Essentially, organizations engage in change
activities to improve the ability of the organization to adapt to changes in the environment and to
change employee behavior (Robbins Judge, 2008, p 412). External factors can cause an organization
to need to revamp its internal strategies. Thus, external factors hold a powerful role in why an
organization would need to change. Additionally, organizational culture can have a place in causing a
need for change within an organization. When how employees act and function fail to meet
organization strategies and objectives, a change is needed in order to intervene and generate a greater
sense of balance between the two. There are a number of factors that impact an

Then, explain how these weapons changed warfare and give evidence for your answer.
Machine guns
Hiram Maxim created Machine Gun and in 1883, he created the first multi bullet firing weapon. This
lead to wider development of automatic weapons which were later used in war. (Note: the 1862
Gatling gun which was ran by hand cranking.)
The machinegun was first used at the very start of WWI, The Germans having a design already in
mass production by 1914. Seeing as there were already machine guns made the first battle would
likely be the battle of Marne. The machine gun changed the face of war, as it was known, adding in
the ability to cover areas in blankets of bullets in both defense and offensive stances. There are many
types of modern machine guns. These guns are used in mostly every military operation in modern
time. Tanks
The British adopted the first tank prototype as a design in 1916. The tank was first used in the battle of
Flers Courcelette. The tank changed war wildly just as the machine gun did, the introduction of the
tank meant that war had to adapt to the rolling bunkers. This adaption caused warfare to take new face
in ways to counter the invention. Tanks are a major part of warfare today, with huge advances being
made constantly to the vehicle platform and more and more warfare being seen by the vehicles as time
goes on. Airplanes

Yellowstone s Coyotes
CANINES WHAT: The reintroduction of wolves in 1995 has significantly decreased the coyote and
fox populations, although those who remain often scavenge from wolf kills. Yellowstone s coyotes are
among the largest coyotes in the United States; adults average about 14 kg and some can weigh up to
20 kg. These intelligent canines primarily eat voles, mice, rabbits, other small animals. They will
commonly feed on carrion and only when in packs, hunt young elk calves in the spring. In the Lamar
Valley, it is estimated that these expert hunters kill 23.6 percent of all pocket gophers, 35.2 percent of
ground squirrels and 76.2 percent of all voles. Their litter is usually between 4 8 pups born in April
and emerging from their dens in May. Coyotes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

your clue to a badger at work. Look up in the trees while hiking through Cottonwood forests for
sleeping raccoon, martins and porcupines. A large marmot colony can be found on the north shore of
Lake Yellowstone just past the sandy beaches of Mary s Bay. Otters are often spotted in the Madison

The Prince By Niccolo Machiavelli Summary
Niccolo Machiavelli s abstract work of The Prince discusses politics and government and focuses in
not only acquiring power, but also how to maintain it. Throughout his work, one of the most prevalent
yet disputed themes is between the acquirement of states between principalities and republics. The
Prince shows a predominant and constant debate on which group will excel in acquiring power.
However, despite Machiavelli s harsh criticisms on principalities, his work does not solely praise or
focus on the excellence of republics. In fact, as Machiavelli continues to speak and provide examples
about the successes and failures of both republics and principalities, it becomes clearer that the lone
purpose of The Prince is to merely provide tactics in political governance, instruction on how to
maintain power once it is acquired, and most importantly, advice on how to become a great leader.
One of the most prevalent themes found in Machiavelli s The Prince is the theme of fortune.
Machiavelli, though in disguise, focuses on the theme of fortune in chapter four and explains how it
plays a heavy role in acquiring power. Chapter four begins in introducing states ruled by a prince with
barons and states ruled by a prince with appointed ministers, and continues by distinguishing the
similarities and differences between the two groups. For states ruled by a prince with hereditary
barons, Machiavelli claims that power is easier to acquire as the prince receives help in conquering the

Analysis Of Kelly Sue Deconnick s Bitch Planet
Contextualizing a Visual Motif In Bitch Planet by Kelly Sue DeConnick there is another world built
through the cartoon. Women are dictated by their fathers, or controlling men of the society, and
punished for being obese or not what the men perceive as perfect. It brings the reader into a futurist
world which has some of the same twisted ideas of the modern world. It enlarges the idea that bigger
women are unwanted and sexualizes thin women in advertisements and in casual conversation. This is
can be seen throughout multiple panels of the comic. The comic is repetitively sexualizing the thin
women and shamming the bigger women with the use of language and background images. There are
two images of a woman eating food in a seductive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Celebrities everywhere are cutting out things from their diet that they do not need to in order to lose
weight. Thousands of people will also starve themselves because they think that it helps them to lose
weight, but it just hurts their body more. The writer exemplifies the problems in today s pop culture to
a new level to allow the reader to see how insane it really is. On the next page we can see the men
casually speaking poorly of the bigger woman who is working. One of them talks about having sex
with a skin and saying how wild it is while smiling and sipping on his coffee with no cares about who
overhears him (DeConnick 195). It shows how the men have little shame in what they say and are
proud of themselves for doing such things. Directly after that there is a close up of the larger woman.
This forces the reader to focus on her face and her face alone. From this image you can see the pure
anger and frustration in her face from what these men are saying. By using this tactic, the writer is
amplifying the emotion in order to ensure that the reader does not have a chance to miss this important
detail. Following that we see the news report continue on about the parasite conveying it in a way that
is positive and makes it sound as if it is something that everyone should experience. By using words

Scholar Practitioner Project: Be There San Diego Initiative
While assessing the increasing burden of chronic diseases in counties across California, findings
revealed that although San Diego county comprised 9% of the state population, San Diegans incurred
nearly 15% of total expenditures for direct medical care of chronic diseases in the state of California.
This report indicated that chronic diseases cancer, heart diseases/stroke, pulmonary disease, diabetes,
mental disorders and hypertension, likely contributed to chronic diseases becoming the leading cause
of death and disability in San Diego (HHSA, 2009).

Miller Vs Alabama Case Study
Miller V. Alabama Case Study
Roman Colon
Pennsylvania State University: Capitol Campus
Introduction
On the Summer night of July 15, 2003, Evan Miller along with an accomplice committed murder by
the way of battery and arson (Oyez). Nearly a decade later, this case would play a crucial role in the
Supreme Court decision on mandatory life without parole sentences of juveniles. In a decision which
relied heavily on the beliefs and opinions of those present, the court argued the culpability of youth
with regards to actions such as murder. Much of the rationale used on the date of the oral argument
stemmed from the former cases of both Roper V. Simmons (2005) and Graham V. Florida (2010).
Essentially, the Miller V. Alabama case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both boys eventually confessed to the murder during police questioning. Due to Miller s prior
offenses as well as his mental maturity the district attorney was able to transfer the case from juvenile
court to adult court. In 2006 before a jury, Miller was found guilty as an adult and charged with
murder in the course of arson. In the state of Alabama this crime carries a mandatory punishment of
life without parole.
In the companion case of Jackson V. Hobbs, Kuntrell Jackson who then was also 14 years of age,
accompanied by two friends attempted to rob a video game store in the month of November, 1999
(Miller, 2012). As Kuntrell Jackson sat outside of the store, Derrick Shields threatened the clerk
Laurie Troup with a sawed off shotgun as he demanded money. Troup was non compliant and resulted
in Shields firing and killing her (Miller, 2012). Much like in the case of Evan Miller, Jackson was tried
as an adult and found guilty of capital felony murder and aggravated robbery. In the state of Arkansas,
a defendant who is charged with capital murder is sentenced to mandatory life in prison without the
chance of parole.
The Eighth Amendment guarantees individuals the right not to be subjected to excessive sanctions and
requires that punishments are proportionate to the crime committed. (National Conference of State
Legislature, 2015).

The Odyssey And Hesiod s
There are many reasons to draw connections amongst Homer and Hesiod. The Greek poet, Homer,
who came sometime in the 9th or 8th century B.C., in Ionia (modern day Turkey), is the writer of The
Iliad and The Odyssey . Hesiod, came around 700 B.C., is often referred to as the father of didactic
poetry . Hesiod wrote Theogony and Works and Days . Like Homer, not much is know about him a
rhapsodist, a reciter of poems. Both composed in the dactylic hexameter, the traditional meter of
Greek epic, and in an oral conventional tradition. Though the poets have many similarities they also
have many difference as shown in their writing. From the role of women, the definition of valor and

Abstinence In Society
It seems as long as people have been having sex the rule has been wait until marriage. But in today s
society that ideal has been challenged. As people become more open about their sexuality and asking
why staying a virgin is such a big social construct, especially amongst women. Abstinence I believe is
a outdated construct, waiting for the right person, being responsible about protection and not basing
someone s worth on if they are a virgin or not. Abstinence for purity is taught in a lot of religions and
if they decide to follow those rules then power to them. The people who do not follow a religion
should not feel compelled to follow those rules as well. In my family we are christian however my

Tobbaco Companies in Indonesia
Tobacco industries are categorized as oligopolies. Oligopoly, according to McConnell Brue Flyyn s
textbook, is characterized by multiple firms, one or more of which will produce a significant portion
of industry output. Tobacco had been present in Indonesia since the 1600s. It was brought in to Java
Island by Portuguese merchants. At first, Indonesia s cigarettes were handmade at home. They were
rolled and wrapped with cornhusks, but that was a long time ago. The Indonesian tobacco industry
today is characterized by the dominance of big three tobacco companies Gudang Garam, Bentoel, and

Once their sales come back to normal, using more machines instead of hiring thousands of people will
be more effective as it presses down the labor cost. Tobacco companies should invest more in doing
research to do a breakthrough invention so they could produce products that are healthier as the anti
cigarettes campaign is showing definite results. With e cigarettes that states themselves as healthier
products, maybe in the future the demand will shift again to e cigarettes. Only by discovering new
things that satisfy the customer s want and need will the company be successful.

Case: African Beer
SABMiller and Diageo are two largest beer producer in Africa. SABMiller, if combined with its
partnership with France s Castel Group, sells roughly 60% Africa s beer by volume. Diageo s also
expands its operation successfully that Senator Keg, its supercheap beer, is also now number two most
popular beers in Kenya. As these giant brewers monopolized Africa s beer market, it can be said that
the market has an oligopoly market structure, and both pursue identic operations, so the market can be
labeled as competitive. The interdependence that is happening between both brewers makes the
competition happens. As SABMiller produces Impala that is half price from its previous beer Manica,
Diageo produces Senator Keg to balance it. Diageo

Service For A Volunteer At United Hospital
Service means giving back to a community that has made me the person I am today. It means being
selfless, and doing something that benefits someone other than me. Service is more than doing work
that you are obligated to do without any reward; it is setting aside time in your busy schedule to make
a difference for the better. Service is not the work I would use to describe my work; volunteering is
more appropriate. A volunteer is defined as a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or
undertake a task. The key word is: offers. Any delinquent could do service; it takes selflessness and
passion to volunteer.
I was always interested in volunteering and helping others, but I did not get into it until I got involved
with the National Honor Society at my high school. The program required us to do at least 10 hours of
volunteering each semester. During the time, I was also in the process of becoming to be a volunteer at
United Hospital. I already had the ambition to do volunteer work, but now I had the opportunities to
actually do it. Volunteering at a hospital was not what I had expected it to be. To be honest, it was
quite boring, because it felt like I was just sitting around most of the time waiting to be needed. But
the feeling I got after volunteering made it all worth it. Knowing that I could have spent the day doing
something else, but choosing to be here and to actually make a difference have me a feeling of elation.

The Negative Effects Of Space Travel
Introduction 400 According to the Oxford dictionary, outer space is defined to be the physical universe
beyond the atmosphere of earth (Oxford, 2017). Space travel specifically long term assignments can
be difficult due to the extreme environment consisting of a hard vacuum, high levels of radiation and
microgravity being hazardous to the health and wellbeing of the crew. The controversary regarding
space travel is regarding the adverse effects on the individuals health. As humans are not able to
properly adapt physically and biologically to space, a series of extensive training must take place
before space travel is allowed. Overall the training period for an astronaut is approximately 18 months
or longer depending on experience. There are variety of procedures astronauts must go through such
as using the Space Vehicle Mock Up Facility which gives a simulation of how they will be operating
the space shuttle and how they will move about, the KC 35 which provides them with roughly 20
seconds of weightlessness, a machine called the Precision Air Bearing Floor assists astronauts when
moving larger objects in space and lastly the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory which allows them to
practice extravehicular activities i.e. space walks (NASA, 2009). Astronauts are required to float
underwater for up to seven hours while operating a full sized model of a space vehicle (NASA, 2009).

Why We Absorb Bath Bombs
Bubbling Bath Bombs
Hypothesis
What makes bath bombs fizz and bubble? Will a bath bomb containing lime juice rather than citric
acid dissolve faster? I think there is a chemical reaction within the bath bomb that makes it fizz, but I
am not sure what things are reacting. I also think that if I substitute lime juice for citric acid in one
half of the bath bomb, the half with citric acid will dissolve quicker. This is because it is pure citric
acid, unlike lime juice which has other things as well as citric acid in it.
Research
Bath bombs are composed of several ingredients that are molded into a shape. They begin to fizz and
dissolve once they touch water. Bath bombs come in a large variety of different colors, scents, shapes,
and sizes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
water, 2 tsp. coconut oil, about 15 drops essential oil, and a few drops of food coloring (depending on
the color I wanted), ¼ cup Epsom salt, 5 bowls, and molds to put the mixture into. To create the
different halves, I took half of each ingredient into separate bowls and added either ¼ cup lime juice
or ¼ cup citric acid. First, I combined the baking soda, corn starch, and Epsom salt into a bowl. If I
was using the citric acid, I combined that into the same bowl. Next, I combined my water, coconut oil,
essential oil (optional), and food coloring (optional) into a different bowl. If I was using the lime juice
instead of the citric acid, I would combine it into this bowl. It is very important you keep your wet and
dry ingredients separate. Then, I slowly put a few drops of the wet mixture into the dry mixture and
stirred. You want to put a few drops, then stir; add a few more, and stir again. You must do this step
slowly to prevent any reactions happening between the citric acid and the baking soda. During this
step, I discovered that the side with lime juice was much moister than the other side with citric acid.
This made it difficult to mold the halves together because a slight reaction was occurring when I put
them together. Next, I put the different mixtures into half a mold and stuck the halves together into the
freezer for 2 hours. Then, I took the bath bomb and put it into a bowl full of warm water. Finally, I

Maternal Mortality And Death Of A Pregnant Woman Essay
Introduction
Maternal mortality/death is defined as the death of a pregnant woman by causes related to the
pregnancy or its management, or death of a post partum mother within 42 days after pregnancy
termination (Requejo, Bryce, Victora, Deixel, 2013; Ronsmans, Graham, group, 2006; Say et al.,
2014). There are proposals to change this definition to make it include one year post partum death of
mothers, as the risk of death has been shown to remain high half a year post partum (Ronsmans et al.,
2006). Many maternal deaths that occur usually occur in low and middle income countries. In the year
2010, 287, 000 maternal deaths that were avoidable occurred, and most occurred in these developing
countries. Reduction of maternal deaths has been one of the outcomes that have been targeted in the
efforts to improve maternal health for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) (Say et al., 2014).
In developing countries, especially Sub Saharan Africa, where fertility levels remain high, maternal
deaths have continued to be high despite the general deaths reduction (Requejo et al., 2013). Many
argue that there is not enough information to confidently describe and quantify this problem, but
Requejo et al., 2013 reported that the available information is sufficient.
The social issues
The causes of maternal deaths are both direct and indirect. Majorly, the causes of maternal death are
usually the aftermath of childbirth and pregnancy, and are majorly contributed to by diseases and

Religious Tolerance In Chaim Potok s The Chosen
In 1620 a group of protestant pilgrims left England aboard the Mayflower because they could not
practice Christianity the way they wanted. They made a pact to not oppress one another based on
religious practices. During the forming of the United States, the government declared freedom of
religion throughout the US. This meant that no one could force another to follow a specific religion.
Chaim Potok s weaves the theme of religious tolerance in his novel, The Chosen. Tony Savo, Reb
Saunders, and Reuven all reveal the theme of religious endurence within the book.
First off, Tony Savo demonstrates tolerance with Reuven s staunch Judaism during their stay at the
hospital. Tony s bed sits next to Reuven s so they have each other as company for a week. The book
suggests that Tony believes in atheism, not in any super natural deity. Tony remarks one night You re a

Tony had plenty of time to taunt Reuven for sticking to his faith throughout the hospital stay. Tony

China, in short, has evolved economically at a time when the global automobile industry has never
needed it more. China is both an attractive market for automobiles, and an attractive supplier of parts,
subassemblies and, soon, completely assembled automobiles and other vehicles. From 1977, when
China lacked even the vocabulary to negotiate joint venture agreements, to today, when every major
automobile manufacturer in the world is working alongside Chinese companies, China s bargaining
power with and expectations of joint venture partners has increased exponentially.
Since automobile parts are integrally tied in to the automobile industry, their evolution, joint venture
participation and growing role connected to joint ventures. More importantly, most of the profits
generated in today s global automobile business are being made in the parts industry, rather than final
assembly. Parts companies progress in consolidation, in R D and emerging brand strength make them
highly sought after as joint venture partners in China and elsewhere in the world.
The greater choice of suppliers in international markets makes it possible to reduce costs and improve

3. Group information into chunks whenever you have too much information.
This method is helpful for the next step. Even I finish defining my tasks and simplifying information,
sometimes it is still confusing. After creating chunks for my tasks and grouping them, I can easily set

important but not urgent , and neither important and urgent . Once I decide the order for
implementation, I try to focus only on the highest priority that I haven t finished.
5. Schedule the most attention rich tasks when you have a fresh and alert mind. Although I m more of

needs a lot of brain working in the morning.

Human resource management development and strategic management enhanced by simulation
exercises
Peter R.J. Trim
Department of Management, Birkbeck College, University of London, London, UK
Keywords Management development, Mentoring, Strategic management, Simulation Abstract In order
to meet the challenges of the marketplace, senior management needs to ensure that an organisation
employs highly skilled and well motivated staff, and there is a commitment to establishing a learning
organisation. Simulation exercises can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By thinking ahead, senior managers can implement a process that takes into account the strategic
thinking workshop approach put forward by Graetz, (2002, pp. 458 9). The advantage of this approach
will be realised when staff from around the world are brought together on a problem solving exercise.
It is also necessary to take into account the communicative skill gaps that exist and what type of
interpersonal skills are needed, and this is especially true in the ` context of decision making vis a vis
strategic alliances, for example (Trim and Lee, 2003). What needs to be understood, however, is how
individuals from different cultures relate to people from outside their cultural value system. The key
issues which surface are issues such as the appropriate way in which to communicate within the
organisation s hierarchy, and if necessary, how to communicate with government representatives.
Therefore, training and staff development personnel in international organisations need to identify
which ` type of simulation exercises will be most suitable for training staff vis a vis careers in an
international organisational setting. Human resource management specialists will, therefore, need to
develop staff development programmes that enable an individual employee to develop their skill base
continually. This means, according to Blunden (1997, p. 277), that an individual needs to develop an
ability to transfer his/her learning and skills from one situation to

Resistant Client Case Study
1. Why is the first meeting with a client so important? The first meeting is so important because it sets
the tone for the relationship between the client and therapist. It can be related to the term first
impression mean everything. If a social worker is having a bad day and they approach the client in a
demanding or what may seem to the client inappropriate way there is a good chance that the client
may not be open to speak about the problem and develop trust issues with the social worker and any
other mental health worker that they may seek help from in the future, all because of the one incident
of the initial approach my the social worker. People are more likely to remember bad situations that
good situations. 2. What factors affect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How would you contract with a resistant client? I would recognize the behavior and try to understand
it. Then I show empathy and speak to him in a passive tone and tell him that we are going to do the
best we can at helping you out with some of your issues. I think that body language is the imperative
when working with a resistant client. 5. What are some alternate assessment approaches in
professional practice that are discussed in the text? Which of these would you find the most useful?
According to Shulman (2012),some alternate assessment approaches are the social work networking
map and the culturagram. I find the networking map the most useful in because the clients are able to
have a visual picture of their life and most people are visual learners so I think that this would be the
most effective. Clients need to know who is actually supporting them, because from my experience
clients tend to push away the people that will or are supporting them. But they welcome people who
do not support them. For example a drug user may not want to be around their family, but their family
may be the best support they have. However a drug user may welcome other drug users because they
have something in common, even though there is not support in the so called

The Tuskegee Of Tuskegee And Tuskegee
It s because they told me I can t, is the reason why I do it Oscar, one of the Tuskegee airmen in the
play Fly. A statement that s so strong that has been important for many people who faced difficulties in
their life. The play shows support and great detail on the Tuskegee airmen and their struggles they
faced during the WWII. They stand by their morals and accomplish their goal to be pilots. This play
has several themes as an underdog story. Characteristics of the airmen and how they are represented in
today s society. How the Tuskegee struggles can relate to my life. This play was an inspiring and
motivational. I had a deep connection with this play by how they portray the Tuskegee airmen and the
difficulties they faced in their time. They had to earn the respect from their peers. They have many
challenges they have to face to accomplish this goal. many African Americans faced many
government difficulties later on in the 1960 s leading to the Civil Right movement. Where many
African Americans fought equality. In today s society, there is much racial discrimination we face
today. There are many tragic stories where cops killed innocent black teens. With a lot of killing of
young African men, a group is developing for the protection for African Americans. Fly had several
themes in their play. The major theme of the play was an underdog story where the Tuskegee Airmen
faced many difficulties in their life in the air force. They have to prove to their peers

Weimar Germany
Germany was like a battered solider coming home after War World I. He expected to find his
comfortable and familiar civilian life right where he left it. Back to normality, back to stability and
safety. However, that unchanged and perfect ideal of home that he expected no longer existed. They
had foreign invaders on their soil and influencing their people. After the loss of World War I, the
German economy were imposed with financial responsibilities according the Treaty of Versailles in
1919. Germans were expected to pay reparations to the Allied powers while their territory was
significantly reduced plagued with hyperinflation (ushmm.org 2014).These reparations created a

misogynistic culture to allow for more women s right and equality. Conversely, that confrontation
allowed masculine culture to blame a national failure of war on that marginalized other that only
sought for equality. A war broken Germany was able to oust the dangerous foreign influence in film

Descriptive Essay On The Day Of A Dog
The turbulent winds smashed into my face as I struggled to pull my dog to the cover of the large oak
tree. All of a sudden, a large gust of wind lifted my dog into the air, snapping her old and tattered
leash! I screamed in horror as she was flung into the choppy river. Stunned, I could only watch in
panic as my dog s head bobbed up and down in the water, while she frenetically tried to keep herself
afloat...
Unaware of the dreadful events that were about to unfold later in the day, I rolled over in my cozy bed,
but was abruptly shaken out of my tranquil sleep by the sound of my dogs shrill, loud bark and the
slivers of light which pierced through my eyelids. Drowsily, I opened my eyes to see my little dog
anxiously circling around my rumpled bed. I looked out of the ever so slightly tinted window at the
rising sun and wondered to myself why I wake up early to walk my dog. I got out of bed and quickly
put on my clothes as I know that the deafening bark will prolong due to her urgency to ease herself. I
walked over to the window hoping for a sudden change in the weather so I could go back to sleep, as
my dog hates to go out on rainy days, but to my dismay it was still a sunny ... Show more content on

It was a pleasant and peaceful day at the park. The old oak trees which border the park muffled out the
sound of the bustling traffic from the busy city. The soothing splashing sounds, which came from the
calm river currents, furthermore silenced and literally camouflaged what was left of the busy city
noise. Which created a peaceful safe haven for many little creatures. Sporadically, calm winds blew
through the park, causing the thin carpet of leaves on the ground to flutter and dance up into the air. A
young squirrel was cautious as it scurried across the path. It stopped still in its path to look around,

The Importance Of Time In The Military
The military, in any country, has a habit of wanting you to show up on time for work, formation, drill
and any other things that come with being a soldier. Most of the reasons behind this are similar to
those of what a civilian employer might hold. Also the simple fact that it s part of the job. Many
reasons contribute to why you must be on time in the military. Be it the oath you swore, the Uniform
Code of Military Justice, trying to get promoted, accountability or just trying to stay out of trouble in
general. The reasons are many and the people around may never know why. The military oath. People
swear their lives to it. Your heart may belong to the people you love, your soul to the religion you
practice, but your backside and everything else belongs to the military ... Show more content on

If not, failing to obey those orders will result in dealing with the consequences, and more seriously,
dealing with the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The Uniform Code of Military Justice, or put
simply, UCMJ. When you receive orders to be at a given location at a specific and you don t make it
in time, you violate two articles of the UCMJ. Article 86 of the UCMJ declares unauthorized absence
absence without leave, not being where you are supposed to be, when you re supposed to be there, is a
punishable offense. If you arrive late for an appointment or what you had to be at, solely for whatever
you might have at that point, you might face charges that include a violation of Article 87 of the
UCMJ, Missing Movement. These are serious and may affect your military career in the long run. The
military thinks it s important, that you increase your chances for promotion by showing up for work
on time. Doing so is part of attention to detail and punctuality, some of the standards by which your
superiors above you rate you during promotion boards and counselings. These positive reports are part
of the collective evaluation used to determine your potential for increased

Frontline Reports On One Of Americas Most Dangerous Companies
Frontline Reports on One of Americas most Dangerous Companies
A Reaction Paper
Frontline with the New York Times reports on one of the largest iron pipe foundry companies,
McWanes Tyler Pipe, and the problem with the company. McWane Inc. was founded by J.R. McWane
in 1921 on the desolate Birmingham Alabama soil. J.R built his water and sewage pipe manufacturing
corporation to now one of the biggest privately owned companies in the nation. Creating water and
sewage pipe by melting metal and casting pipe can be very dangerous and dirty if not handled with the
right process and procedures. However, the workers say that the company ruthlessly tries to increase
production by costing the safety of its workers and has succeeded at this with what McWanes calls
disciplined management practices . This disgusting fact has lead the company to accumulate an
abnormal amount of safety violations that include around 4,600 injuries and 9 deaths. The sad part
about all this is most of the misfortunes have happened in the past couple decades when new age
management and safety practices should have been a top most priority.
Why can t the McWane Corporation get it into their heads that worker safety needs to be a priority?
McWanes top competitor, American Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO), lives by the rule of worker
safety and is still making a large profit while being one of the top companies to work for in the nation.
On the other hand, at McWanes Tyler Pipe plant you can find the signs

The Four Stages And Functions Of The Skeletal System
There are 270 bones in the human body at birth, decreasing to 206 by adulthood due to the fact that
some bones fuse together as we grow. The functions of the skeletal system are numerous. It provides a
framework for the body; produces blood cells; provides protection for organs; helps us breathe; acts as
a warehouse for mineral storage and allows for movement.
Bones in the human body form in the process called ossification. There are four stages in ossification,
1.) Embryonic bone formation; 2.) Bone growth throughout life starting in infancy through adulthood;
3.) Bone remodeling, and 4.) Fracture (breaks in the bone) repair.
The visible layer of a bone is called the periosteum, which is a type of tough connective tissue. The
periosteum contains blood vessels, lymph vessels, nerves and cells that assist in rebuilding damaged
bone tissue. Additionally, ligaments and tendons attach to the periosteum. The end of the bone is
called the epiphysis, and the region between the ends is called the diaphysis. On examination of a
bone, you can see the epiphyseal plate, often called the growth plate. This looks like a line dividing
the diaphysis and epiphysis. Inside the bone is a hollow channel. This is called the medullary cavity,
and acts as a storage place for yellow and red bone marrow. Yellow marrow gets its color from high
fat content. Red marrow makes blood cells.
There are 2 types of bone tissue, spongy and compact bone. Compact bone is hard and usually found
in the shafts of long bones, and in the outer layer of other types of bones. (There are 4 types of bones,
long, short, flat and irregular bones.) Compact bone, as its name implies, is tightly packed, making it
strong and dense.
Spongy bone is the interior of the bone. Spongy bone has larger spaces than compact bone, giving it
the appearance of sponge. Spongy bone is also lighter, because it is not packed so tightly, and also
gives a space for the red bone marrow.
Intramembranous ossification is the simplest bone formation method. The flat bones of the skull, most
facial and mandibular bones, and the medial clavicle are formed this way. Chemical messengers
causes cells to the mesenchyme (tissue from which most connective tissue forms) to cluster at an

Trauma Group Reflection
This semester I had the privilege of working with the Early Childhood Trauma group and the men
involved in SSYI. At first I was overwhelmed by this project and unsure of how to participate. I now
realize how important and significant this project is and I am grateful to have participated. Working
with this model felt like the realist thing I did during my time at Clark. The project was constantly
challenging, I always felt like I was playing mental and emotional catch up. In my last reflection I
wrote about feeling lost and attempting to come to terms with not being able to ever fully
understanding the connotations of the project. While I would say that my process of acceptance is still
occurring I am now comfortable with the process. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
s article Visibility and Voice: Aboriginal People Experience Culturally Safe and Unsafe Health Care .
The author s explain that when doctors practice sameness as a form of equity, they treat aboriginal
people like they would treat white people (Hole et al 2015: 1670). While this can seem fair to a white
doctor it is not in fact equitable, because it holds people to another group standards instead of making
standards that work for them. When we do not allow people s layers to influence the conversation we
hold them solely to the standard of the element we like or feel functions best in that setting. In the end
who does that help? I hope I am a practitioner who is willing to create standards that are culturally

Analysis Of The Poem The Poppy Flower
Cai Guo Qiang compares his works as the poppy flower. He uses gun powder to make the explosion
projects. Gun powder can be dangerous. Gun powder is uncontrollable. But he has been working with
the materials for a very long time and he knows well how to manage it. The way he makes his arts are
reliable, cool and can harmful. While he is making his arts, most of the times he doesn t feel like to
end until he sees everything is perfect. He also compares drawing as lovemaking meaning that he has
to take his time slowly and gently to make everything faultless. His arts are beautiful, the lines, the
shapes, the colors were all well made. According to Qiang Artist is not about what you say but it is
about what you don t say. In my opinion, I think he is trying to say that artist is about what you
accomplish, the works that you made, the imagination you put into your arts. In addition, in the video
he described the exhibition space and the first time he saw it. He has also showed an installation in
Washington, D.C that expressed the power of destruction and the beauty of destruction. Ida

Ellis Island and Angel Island Immigration Essay
Ellis Island is a small island located in the Upper New York Bay. Angel Island is the largest island in
the San Francisco Bay in the state of California. Ellis Island served as a national immigration station
from 1892 1924. Angel Island was an immigration station from 1910 1940. Both Islands helped
America grow by opening their doors to the world. Immigrants who came to America now had a
chance to achieve their own dreams and to start new lives. The country was new, the government was
rising up and it gave immigrants an opportunity to succeed. Life was still going to be hard but people

In the book Life on Ellis Island, Rebman says, Most immigrants could afford to purchase only
steerage, or third class, tickets. The steerage area comprised the decks below sea level where the
steering mechanisms were located (Rebman, 18). It was not cheap to come to America. Some of
immigrants had to sacrifice a lot to make the trip but they took the risk that life would be better in
America. Ellis Island and Angel Island presented an opportunity for success. People that wouldn t
normally have a chance to succeed got to come to America and start a new life. Carl L Bankston talks
about the travel to Ellis Island, Doctors took one glance while immigrants go to the second floor. This
was known as the Six Second exam (Bankston, Carl L, 179). Rebman also talks about Coded Chalk
Marks, she says, A chalk mark drawn on the shoulder of an immigrant s jacket or on his lapel
indicated a wide variety of abnormalities. This system of coded chalk marks quickly identified
immigrants needing further examination. Illness and medical problems were the most frequent causes
of deportation. More than a dozen letters were used to indicate possible problems; for example, B:
back, CT: trachoma, E: eyes, H: heart, L: lameness, Pg: pregnancy, Sc: scalp, X: suspected mental
illness (a circled X meant definite signs of mental disease had been observed) (Rebman, 24). There

Describe The Metabolic Pathway Of L. Lactis
The metabolic pathway of L. lactis can function through aerobic and anaerobic reactions. It consists of
621 reactions and 509 metabolites and requires minimally glucose, arginine, methionine, glutamate
and valine for growth. The main metabolism of L. lactis is through the anaerobic pathway,
fermentation, which produces lactic acid from the available carbohydrates and is used for industrial
food production. The carbon sources that L. lactis draws from include fructose, galactose,
glucosamine, glucose, lactose, maltose, mannitol, mannose, ribose, sucrose and trehalose. However,
the growth rate of the cell with the intake of each carbon source is different. Growth rate on glucose,

These intelligent canines primarily eat voles, mice, rabbits, other small animals. They will commonly feed on carrion and only when in packs, hunt young elk calves in the spring. • 5. The Prince By Niccolo Machiavelli Summary Niccolo Machiavelli s abstract work of The Prince discusses politics and government and focuses in not only acquiring power, but also how to maintain it. Throughout his work, one of the most prevalent yet disputed themes is between the acquirement of states between principalities and republics. The Prince shows a predominant and constant debate on which group will excel in acquiring power. However, despite Machiavelli s harsh criticisms on principalities, his work does not solely praise or focus on the excellence of republics. In fact, as Machiavelli continues to speak and provide examples about the successes and failures of both republics and principalities, it becomes clearer that the lone purpose of The Prince is to merely provide tactics in political governance, instruction on how to maintain power once it is acquired, and most importantly, advice on how to become a great leader. One of the most prevalent themes found in Machiavelli s The Prince is the theme of fortune. Machiavelli, though in disguise, focuses on the theme of fortune in chapter four and explains how it plays a heavy role in acquiring power. Chapter four begins in introducing states ruled by a prince with barons and states ruled by a prince with appointed ministers, and continues by distinguishing the similarities and differences between the two groups. For states ruled by a prince with hereditary barons, Machiavelli claims that power is easier to acquire as the prince receives help in conquering the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women are dictated by their fathers, or controlling men of the society, and punished for being obese or not what the men perceive as perfect. It brings the reader into a futurist world which has some of the same twisted ideas of the modern world. It enlarges the idea that bigger women are unwanted and sexualizes thin women in advertisements and in casual conversation. This is can be seen throughout multiple panels of the comic. The comic is repetitively sexualizing the thin women and shamming the bigger women with the use of language and background images. There are two images of a woman eating food in a seductive ... Thousands of people will also starve themselves because they think that it helps them to lose weight, but it just hurts their body more. The writer exemplifies the problems in today s pop culture to a new level to allow the reader to see how insane it really is. On the next page we can see the men casually speaking poorly of the bigger woman who is working. One of them talks about having sex with a skin and saying how wild it is while smiling and sipping on his coffee with no cares about who overhears him (DeConnick 195). It shows how the men have little shame in what they say and are proud of themselves for doing such things. Directly after that there is a close up of the larger woman. This forces the reader to focus on her face and her face alone. From this image you can see the pure anger and frustration in her face from what these men are saying. By using this tactic, the writer is amplifying the emotion in order to ensure that the reader does not have a chance to miss this important detail. Following that we see the news report continue on about the parasite conveying it in a way that is positive and makes it sound as if it is something that everyone should experience. • 8. Miller Vs Alabama Case Study Miller V. Alabama Case Study Roman Colon Pennsylvania State University: Capitol Campus Introduction On the Summer night of July 15, 2003, Evan Miller along with an accomplice committed murder by the way of battery and arson (Oyez). Nearly a decade later, this case would play a crucial role in the Supreme Court decision on mandatory life without parole sentences of juveniles. In a decision which relied heavily on the beliefs and opinions of those present, the court argued the culpability of youth with regards to actions such as murder. Much of the rationale used on the date of the oral argument stemmed from the former cases of both Roper V. Simmons (2005) and Graham V. Florida (2010). Essentially, the Miller V. Alabama case ... Due to Miller s prior offenses as well as his mental maturity the district attorney was able to transfer the case from juvenile court to adult court. In the companion case of Jackson V. Hobbs, Kuntrell Jackson who then was also 14 years of age, accompanied by two friends attempted to rob a video game store in the month of November, 1999 (Miller, 2012). As Kuntrell Jackson sat outside of the store, Derrick Shields threatened the clerk Laurie Troup with a sawed off shotgun as he demanded money. Troup was non compliant and resulted in Shields firing and killing her (Miller, 2012). Much like in the case of Evan Miller, Jackson was tried as an adult and found guilty of capital felony murder and aggravated robbery. In the state of Arkansas, a defendant who is charged with capital murder is sentenced to mandatory life in prison without the chance of parole. As people become more open about their sexuality and asking why staying a virgin is such a big social construct, especially amongst women. Abstinence I believe is a outdated construct, waiting for the right person, being responsible about protection and not basing someone s worth on if they are a virgin or not. Abstinence for purity is taught in a lot of religions and if they decide to follow those rules then power to them. Oligopoly, according to McConnell Brue Flyyn s textbook, is characterized by multiple firms, one or more of which will produce a significant portion of industry output. Tobacco had been present in Indonesia since the 1600s. It was brought in to Java Island by Portuguese merchants. At first, Indonesia s cigarettes were handmade at home. • 13. Service For A Volunteer At United Hospital Service means giving back to a community that has made me the person I am today. It means being selfless, and doing something that benefits someone other than me. Service is more than doing work that you are obligated to do without any reward; it is setting aside time in your busy schedule to make a difference for the better. Service is not the work I would use to describe my work; volunteering is more appropriate. A volunteer is defined as a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task. The key word is: offers. Any delinquent could do service; it takes selflessness and passion to volunteer. I was always interested in volunteering and helping others, but I did not get into it until I got involved with the National Honor Society at my high school. The program required us to do at least 10 hours of volunteering each semester. During the time, I was also in the process of becoming to be a volunteer at United Hospital. I already had the ambition to do volunteer work, but now I had the opportunities to actually do it. Volunteering at a hospital was not what I had expected it to be. To be honest, it was quite boring, because it felt like I was just sitting around most of the time waiting to be needed. But the feeling I got after volunteering made it all worth it. Knowing that I could have spent the day doing something else, but choosing to be here and to actually make a difference have me a feeling of elation. Same with the work I did with the ... There are variety of procedures astronauts must go through such as using the Space Vehicle Mock Up Facility which gives a simulation of how they will be operating the space shuttle and how they will move about, the KC 35 which provides them with roughly 20 seconds of weightlessness, a machine called the Precision Air Bearing Floor assists astronauts when moving larger objects in space and lastly the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory which allows them to practice extravehicular activities i.e. space walks (NASA, 2009). • 15. Why We Absorb Bath Bombs Bubbling Bath Bombs Hypothesis What makes bath bombs fizz and bubble? Will a bath bomb containing lime juice rather than citric acid dissolve faster? I think there is a chemical reaction within the bath bomb that makes it fizz, but I am not sure what things are reacting. I also think that if I substitute lime juice for citric acid in one half of the bath bomb, the half with citric acid will dissolve quicker. This is because it is pure citric acid, unlike lime juice which has other things as well as citric acid in it. Research Bath bombs are composed of several ingredients that are molded into a shape. They begin to fizz and dissolve once they touch water. Bath bombs come in a large variety of different colors, scents, shapes, and sizes. ... To create the different halves, I took half of each ingredient into separate bowls and added either ¼ cup lime juice or ¼ cup citric acid. First, I combined the baking soda, corn starch, and Epsom salt into a bowl. If I was using the citric acid, I combined that into the same bowl. Next, I combined my water, coconut oil, essential oil (optional), and food coloring (optional) into a different bowl. If I was using the lime juice instead of the citric acid, I would combine it into this bowl. It is very important you keep your wet and dry ingredients separate. Then, I slowly put a few drops of the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stirred. You want to put a few drops, then stir; add a few more, and stir again. You must do this step slowly to prevent any reactions happening between the citric acid and the baking soda. During this step, I discovered that the side with lime juice was much moister than the other side with citric acid. This made it difficult to mold the halves together because a slight reaction was occurring when I put them together. Next, I put the different mixtures into half a mold and stuck the halves together into the freezer for 2 hours. Then, I took the bath bomb and put it into a bowl full of warm water. • 16. Maternal Mortality And Death Of A Pregnant Woman Essay Introduction Maternal mortality/death is defined as the death of a pregnant woman by causes related to the pregnancy or its management, or death of a post partum mother within 42 days after pregnancy termination (Requejo, Bryce, Victora, Deixel, 2013; Ronsmans, Graham, group, 2006; Say et al., 2014). There are proposals to change this definition to make it include one year post partum death of mothers, as the risk of death has been shown to remain high half a year post partum (Ronsmans et al., 2006). Many maternal deaths that occur usually occur in low and middle income countries. In the year 2010, 287, 000 maternal deaths that were avoidable occurred, and most occurred in these developing countries. Reduction of maternal deaths has been one of the outcomes that have been targeted in the efforts to improve maternal health for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) (Say et al., 2014). In developing countries, especially Sub Saharan Africa, where fertility levels remain high, maternal deaths have continued to be high despite the general deaths reduction (Requejo et al., 2013). Many argue that there is not enough information to confidently describe and quantify this problem, but Requejo et al., 2013 reported that the available information is sufficient. The social issues The causes of maternal deaths are both direct and indirect. It is also necessary to take into account the communicative skill gaps that exist and what type of interpersonal skills are needed, and this is especially true in the ` context of decision making vis a vis strategic alliances, for example (Trim and Lee, 2003). What needs to be understood, however, is how individuals from different cultures relate to people from outside their cultural value system. • 29. The Four Stages And Functions Of The Skeletal System There are 270 bones in the human body at birth, decreasing to 206 by adulthood due to the fact that some bones fuse together as we grow. The functions of the skeletal system are numerous. It provides a framework for the body; produces blood cells; provides protection for organs; helps us breathe; acts as a warehouse for mineral storage and allows for movement. Bones in the human body form in the process called ossification. There are four stages in ossification, 1.) Embryonic bone formation; 2.) Bone growth throughout life starting in infancy through adulthood; 3.) Bone remodeling, and 4.) Fracture (breaks in the bone) repair. The visible layer of a bone is called the periosteum, which is a type of tough connective tissue. The periosteum contains blood vessels, lymph vessels, nerves and cells that assist in rebuilding damaged bone tissue. Additionally, ligaments and tendons attach to the periosteum. The end of the bone is called the epiphysis, and the region between the ends is called the diaphysis. On examination of a bone, you can see the epiphyseal plate, often called the growth plate. This looks like a line dividing the diaphysis and epiphysis. Inside the bone is a hollow channel. This is called the medullary cavity, and acts as a storage place for yellow and red bone marrow. Yellow marrow gets its color from high fat content. Red marrow makes blood cells. There are 2 types of bone tissue, spongy and compact bone. Compact bone is hard and usually found in the shafts of long bones, and in the outer layer of other types of bones. (There are 4 types of bones, long, short, flat and irregular bones.) Compact bone, as its name implies, is tightly packed, making it strong and dense. Spongy bone is the interior of the bone. Spongy bone has larger spaces than compact bone, giving it the appearance of sponge. Spongy bone is also lighter, because it is not packed so tightly, and also gives a space for the red bone marrow. Intramembranous ossification is the simplest bone formation method. The flat bones of the skull, most facial and mandibular bones, and the medial clavicle are formed this way. The main metabolism of L. lactis is through the anaerobic pathway, fermentation, which produces lactic acid from the available carbohydrates and is used for industrial food production. The carbon sources that L. lactis draws from include fructose, galactose, glucosamine, glucose, lactose, maltose, mannitol, mannose, ribose, sucrose and trehalose. However, the growth rate of the cell with the intake of each carbon source is different. Growth rate on glucose, mannose, galactose, sucrose, lactose and glucosamine are the same, ...
