Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer s Day Figurative Language
Throughout the four seasons people would mostly say that summer is there favorite season. Why do
people tend to enjoy summer so much? Could it be that during the summer the weather gets hot during
the day and warm at night? Could it be that you can venture off to different places like the beach with
your family and friends or sticking your toes in the water or sand? Whatever the case may be the
summer time seems to be the season to have fun, laugh, and relax. In the Backpack Literature
textbook on chapter 14, it focuses on figures of speech. Figures of speech is a big part of literature that
people need to learn. How is figures of speech very important to our everyday use? I feel like in
literature it is important for people to understand the meanings that the authors and also yourself are
expressing in a story, poem, speech, and many more literary contexts. Dealing with figurative
language you are going to see examples like metaphors, similes, oxymoron s, personifications, and so
much that refer in a context. In this particular poem that I will be discussing about has metaphors and
similes. The poem, Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer s Day by Howard Moss. There is always other
version on this poem by William Shakespeare that was a sonnet but I feel like Howard Moss wanted to
put he own spin off of the Shakespeare s poem. In Howard Moss poem, Shall I Compare Thee to a
Summer s Day, he express how much the person he admires mean to him with metaphors and similes.

The Best Present Treatment For Celiac Disease ( Cd ) Is A...
Results Across the research, there have been commonalities and similarities. Most of the authors agree
that the best present treatment for celiac disease (CD) is a gluten free diet (GFD). A cross sectional age
matched study done on 18 Italian children, aged four to 10 years, demonstrated that there were
statistical differences in eating habits and frequency of eating among CD children and a control group.
These dietary intakes were measured using the semi quantitative Block Food Frequency Questionnaire
(Zuccotti et al., 2013, p. 438). While there were statistical differences in dietary intakes between the
control group and the test group, the body mass index (BMI) values were not statistically different.

life (QoL) (Norsa et al., 2015, p. 591) to parents opinion on their children s diet, the possible need
and/or preference for novel therapies, with the possibility to express more than one option as well as
their willingness to enroll their children in ad hoc clinical trials (Norsa et al., 2015, p. 591). A
limitation of the survey is that the parents of CD patients were questioned rather than the patients
themselves, which leaves room for inaccuracies due to perception. With that being said, a strength is
that the survey is designed for celiac children and adolescents, who are the most problematic groups
and the population with the highest probability of access to an alternative therapy (Norsa et al., 2015,
p.593). A study conducted by Sharp, Walker, and Coppell (2014) examined the results of the New
Zealand Coeliac Health Survey, a self administered cross sectional survey of biopsy positive
respondents aged 16 years and over (n=936) (p. 223). The results indicated that patients expressed an
assortment of symptoms prior to being diagnosed. Patients expressed relief from some symptoms
when adhering to a strict GFD, but continued to suffer from others. 12.6% (n=118) attributed their
symptoms to other food allergies and 26.0% (n=243) to hidden sources of gluten (Sharp et al., 2014, p.

Carpe Diem Analysis
Aaron Jeu
Ms. Wagner
English 1B
22 June 2017
Rough Draft: Life and Death Carpe Diem is a Latin phrase, which often tends to denote a significant
literary theme found in popular culture, including Peter Weir s Dead Poets Society or Green Day s
song, Carpe Diem. However, it is also especially common in lyrical poetry. According to Oxford
Dictionary, it is used [as encouragement] to make the most of the present life while it lasts or live for
the moment. Both Dylan Thomas s Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night and Robert Frost s
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening explore the notion that individuals should endeavor life to its
fullest. In his poem, Thomas expresses a very passionate, pleading voice to deeply allure his audience.
In contrast, Frost communicates his approach in a more pensive, practical, subtle style that slyly
provokes the audience to think about their own fate.
The collective theme of the two poems is similar in that both explain that death is imminent, that
individuals should not take for granted the time they have left on Earth, and that people need courage
to face death, and to realize that death can wait. However, Thomas utilizes an ardent, compelling tone
to assert his beliefs that individuals should partake in a more dynamic role and embrace what will
happen to them during their lives. On the contrary, Frost believes that every human has a timely death
and that people should strive to fulfill their commissions before giving in to death.

Psy 201 Week 1 Evolution Research Paper
According to Ms. Witsaman, evolution is not the theory of how life began, which is a common
misconception nowadays, but the theory of how life has changed over time. Theories are predictions
which are backed up by several evidences and supported by scientists. The evidences that scientists
use now to prove include fossils, homologous structures, analogous structures, vestigial structures,
embryology, biogeography, and biochemicals. Fossils are the remains of living things that once
roamed the Earth. Homologous structure are structures shared by different organisms that have similar
structure but different functions. Analogous structures are the opposite, they have similar functions but

I have to assume that the skulls that were closest to walking on four legs lived in environments with a
lot of trees and high grounds. That being said, now I have to assume that our ancestors eventually
found it easier to live in long plains and migrated which made them lose the need to be efficient on all
fours, thus leading to bipedalism.
Conclusion:
My hypothesis is was not supported since there was not a single organism that walked on four legs
according to my data. I realized that just the general shape and condition of the skull didn t correlate
with how old it was, but the cranial capacity was the major determining factor. Every time humans
evolved the need for their mental capacity increased and that s evident in the skulls: the oldest having
the smallest cranial capacity, the most recent having the largest cranial capacity. I also want to say that
according to my data, our ancestors didn t all just start walking on two legs one day, but the need to
walk on two legs wasn t there for a couple of our ancestors which is why some are so close to not
being able to walk on two legs at all. That leads me to say that bipedalism was not dependant on when
an organism was alive but where an organism was alive. As for prognathism, I also believe that

Each part of the name means and describes an attribute about you. My first name is Kaleb. Kaleb can

Dolly s Relatable
In the chapter Selling the General in the book A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan the main
character, Dolly, comes off as relatable mother going through a tough time at first, but the line of work
and the people she deals with makes us realize how she isn t as much as an identifiable person. In the
article The Scourge of Relatability, Rebecca Mead defines relatable as describing a character or a
situation in which an ordinary person might see himself reflected (2014). Dolly is relatable because
she is an over worked single mother with financial problems and struggling to connect with her child,
Lulu. On the other hand, she isn t relatable because she is using her work to protect the image of a
well known dictator. In her article, Mead states that many people automatically see a work as a failure
if they cant easily relate to it or the people involved. She goes on to say, it is our own failure to reject a
work that we don t relate to because we can still exercise our imagination to feel empathy and
eventually relate to it (2014). Dolly for the most part is not relatable to us, but with a little effort to
look past the evil, we can see that Dolly is a loving and concerned parent looking to emotionally
connect with her child, which causes us to empathize and ultimately identify with her.
Early on in the chapter, Egan states, The first installment appeared in her bank account. Her relief was

Essay about Miles Davis
The Electric Miles Davis
Born in Alton, Illinois, Miles Davis grew up in a middle class family in East St. Louis. Miles Davis
took up the trumpet at the age of 13 and was playing professionally two years later. Some of his first
gigs included performances with his high school bandand playing with Eddie Randall and the blue
Devils. Miles Davis has said that the greatest musical experience of his life was hearing the Billy
Eckstine orchestra when it passed through St. Louis. In September 1944 Davis went to New York to
study at Juilliard but spend much more time hanging out on 52nd Street and eventually dropped out of
school. He moved from his home in East St. Louis to New York primarily to enter school but also to

The music is rebellious and its uncompromising intensity is uncatagorizable for its urgent flooding
past genre definitions. Miles music of the five year period is unlike any music that preceded it, and
still, 30 years later, so original, so Progressive, and so inadequately described.
It s no wonder that with his transformation into electric experiment, Miles lost a huge share of the
loyal audience who had been following his earlier career. This new electric music dared to shed a
amp;quot;jazz amp;quot; sound to integrate the highly charged, youthful raw power from rock and
funk. Ignoring barriers, this music refuses to stay in any amp;quot;proper amp;quot; place. Besides
being multicultural, it makes an even bigger transgression: it is often unpleasant, assaulted, harsh,
macho, eerie, and seemingly formless. Just as Miles Davis career is a continuous progression of
remaking and replenishing himself, he has moved on and left his old self in the past decade.
This music is not useful as background music. It cannot be used in the same way the 30 years worth of
Miles previous music can be used. It demands attentiveness. It is militant and arrogant. It is sometimes
more a display of audacity and an assertion of absolute independence then a lovely palette to summon
dreams. The dream is over. All the romantic ballads and pleasurable entertainment is history. With this
sound he describes a new reality for which he invents a

culture, race, and class have on human s behaviors, resilience, struggles and faith. . The cross culture
countries of analysis will be Guyana and Portugal which are situated at two opposite ends of the
world. Which makes this comparison even more compelling? With worlds so distant, one might
expect to have fewer similarities. But as I began to categorize the similarities and difference on chart

According to the text Understanding Human Differences by Koppelman stated For every talent that
poverty has stimulated it has blighted a hundred (p. 264). Secondly, the difference that was
recognizable was the religious aspect. Even though Claudio was raised a Roman Catholic and I an
Anglican, we both believe in the same God. Our views on heaven and hell totally differ relating to
religious beliefs. From my perspective I, believe in heaven and a hell. Coupled with, being
accountable to someone when you depart this world. As the saying goes, everyone was put on this
earth for a reason and we as individuals should achieve and accomplished the purpose we were meant
to achieve. If for some reason, we did not achieve our purpose while we were on earth, then there
should be consequences for our actions or missteps when our souls depart this earth. Claudio on the
other hand, whose early years were deeply engrossed in becoming a priest, has drawn a connection
from his own life experience. For instance, he seems to come to the conclusion that there is a heaven,
but not a hell. He also elaborated that the persecution that humans endure during their lifetime on
earth is the hell we sometimes describes when

According to Jews in Israel the biggest long term problem that their country is facing is that they were
more likely to cite economic concerns (such as Israel s high cost of living, or a shortage of affordable
housing in Tel Aviv and other cities) as they were to mention military or national security issues (such
as terror attacks or Iran s nuclear program). This belief that Israel s biggest problem is the economy is
a belief between Jews in Israel, however American Jews have a completely different perspective into
Israel s long term problem. When American Jews were asked what the long term problem, fully two
thirds cited a military or security issue, and hardly any (1%) mentioned economic difficulties. What
this shows is a separation in how American Jews and Israeli Jews view the government, or American
Jews do not know the struggle that the Jews are facing in Israel. Another problem that American and
Israel Jews disagree on is the range of political issues concerning the State of Israel and the peace
process. While Israeli Jews are skeptical that Israel and an independent Palestinian state can
peacefully coexist, most American Jews are optimistic that a two state solution is possible. These two

In his paper, The Social Responsibilities of Business is to Increase its Profits (Friedman, 1970), Milton
Friedman discusses social responsibility and what he feels it means in the business arena. He goes on
to say A corporation is an artificial person (Friedman, 1970) and since this is not a real person, cannot
have any responsibilities. While a corporation or business has a leader or board of directors, Friedman
states these individuals cannot make decisions on social responsibility without eating into the profits
of the company, the employee s wages, or even the price that the customer has to pay for the item.
Upon my first review of Friedman s article, I thought he was throwing everything about a good
company out the window. After reading it a second time, and realizing it was written in 1970, I believe
he was stating the first responsibility of a company is to make a profit. Why else would you be in

Berry Strauss s The Trojan War a New History Book Review
Barry Strauss, professor of classics at Cornell University attempts to redefine a one of history s
biggest love affairs, the Trojan War. Strauss explains how certain events and characters from Homers
The Odyssey might have actually existed, but also uses modern discoveries from the Bronze Age to
compare Homers account to those of Egypt, the Middle East, and etc. While Homer s epic should not
be read as a historical document which recounts the Trojan War hundred percent accurately, it can still
be seen as document which embodies some historical truth. The novel as a whole explains the
customs, economic standing, fighting styles and beliefs of the Greeks. Strauss s writing style allows
for the book to be accessible to both students and historians. He argues that just like Franz Ferdinand
was the spark which ignited World War 1, Helen on the other hand was just a spark which escalated an
existing tension between the Greeks and Trojans. Strauss s personal input on the war itself gives the
novel a different outlook on the Trojan War because, it allows for readers to see beyond the facts and
make connections with ideas that Strauss had made with recent discoveries and Homers epic. Strauss
sectionalizes the book in 11 chapters, excluding the introduction and conclusion, and in each chapter
he covers a different aspect of the

Juvenile Crimes
Juvenile crime is a growing problem that endangers virtually every American. Juvenile delinquency is
enormously damaging to the health and well being of the nations families and communities. A juvenile
crime can consist of DUI, robbery, rape, minor in possession, weapon in possession anything an adult
can be charged with. Individuals under the age of eighteen who commit these crimes can be charged
as a juvenile delinquent. Statistics show that most juveniles that commit crimes are in a gang; weather
its street related or school related. The average cost of caring for an incarcerated juvenile is more than

Some juveniles commit crimes because of poor parenting skills, because most parents do not page
close attentions to their child and give them the attention they ask for. Not knowing what your child is
doing are not having any thing to do with your child s life is poor relationships between children and
parents. According to Eric Lotke, the numbers of juvenile homicides with firearm are starting to spiral
upwards while the number of non firearm homicides stays steady or is decreasing. Lotke and others
contend that guns have led to higher rates of violence because they have replaced less fatal weapons.
While juveniles use to fight with fits and knives they now resolve disputes with lethal firearms (qtd in
Ojeda 53). Preventing juvenile crime is very hard to do. Recently authorities have tried various means
of addressing the problem of juvenile crime including teenage curfew laws, parental responsibility
laws, and after school and early intervention programs (qtd in Ojeda 129). Family interactions have
greater influence on delinquency. To prevent juvenile delinquency one should spend more time with
their child, and be more controlling. If the parent feels like he or she can not control the child they
should seek for assistance by calling social services. Parents should educate their child about the
dangerous parts of drug use. Most parents should put their child in after school activities, such as

The Introduction of the Burqini in Europe
In January of 2007, a new style of bathing suit known as the Burqini became a media sensation.
Burqini is a multi piece head to toe bathing suit designed especially for women who follow Islam and
practice sartorial hijab and cover their entire body except face hands and feet. The media created this
portmanteau of burqa and bikini and referred to these full body multi piece swimsuits to modestly
dress Muslim women as burqinis. Burqini has received a lot of attention from media from all over the
world; both positive and negative, making it a sensational piece of garment in 21st century. The most
public attention gained by this garment was in 2009 when it was banned in Emerainville , a suburb of
Paris in France and later in Italy making because it was unhygienic and inappropriate clothing for a
public baths. Therefore, making Burqini one of the most controversial piece of clothing as it questions
culture, religion, health and hygiene of the individual who wears a Burqini along with the people who
are in the same bath as the individual wearing Burqini. This paper discusses how and why Burqini
became a controversial piece of garment by focusing on news stories, written records and personal
interviews of people who wear Burqini. It critically analyses and focuses on how this controversy of
faith versus hygiene of Burqini wearers is just a result of cultural clash.
Introduction of the burqini in Europe led to juxtaposing perspectives on whether or not it should be

Why Did Connecticut Get Its Shape Essay
How did Connecticut get its shape.
Connecticut s landscape and surface change from 3 elements named tectonic plates, Glaciation, and
Weathering and erosion.
Tectonic plates
Tectonic plates are the reason why earth s surface area isn t flat. Tectonic plate formed the
Appalachian mountains and Mount Frisell. This happened millions of years ago, and the cause of the
formation is that the tectonic plates collide into each other start to rise upwards. This brings up big
pieces of rock from the crust to form mountains. Tectonic plate didn t just form mountains is
Connecticut they also form valleys. Valleys are formed by the tectonic plates repelling off each other
and creating a big, long valley that could hold water in them. This is one of the steps how the famous

Millions of years ago, Connecticut was close to the equator and that caused the Wisconsin glacier to
move. When, the Glacier was melting the water was running under the ice and caring rocks with the
flow of the water. This is called plucking and the reason why is because when one rock is picked up
that rock picks up other rocks and the rocks start shooting out like bullets and end up on a beach. This
formed the Hammonasset beach. When the Wisconsin glacier stopped melting/ was all water the
Wisconsin glacier formed Lake Hitchcock. All of the deebree that came down from the flow of the
water was keeping all of the water trapped into a valley. When, the beebree/ dam broke most of the
water went into Lake Connecticut. When all of the water was added to Lake Connecticut the water
levels ross so high that the land got covered by water and then Lake connecticut was connected to the
Atlantic Ocean. There was so much water that all of the water didn t go into the Atlantic Ocean. Some
of the water stayed in the valley that Lake hitchcock was. This is how the Connecticut river and Long

Ezekiel lived in a time of international crisis and conflict. Assyria was the world power in the area
under the rule of Tiglath pilesar III. In 724 B.C Israel raged war upon Assyria, and Israel was no

death of Ashurbanipal, Babylon under Nebuchadrezzer II wanted independence from Assyria. In 614
B.C the Assyrians under Nineveh surrendered to the rising Babylonians. In 605 B.C the Babylonians

Other accounts state that Ezekiel went to Babylonia where he kept in touch with Judah, thereby
addressing both communities in a single entry. Nevertheless, whether in Judah or Babylon, Ezekiel
continued to prophesize to the Judeans, before and after the exile of the remaining Hebrews. Before
the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple, Ezekiel prophesized about the total destruction of
Jerusalem, brought on by the Judean s guilt.
Ezekiel, at first, was a reluctant prophet. Unlike other prophets he was married, therefore had
responsibilities to people other than himself. The symbolic scroll, mentioned in the second and third
chapters of Ezekiel. But you mortal, hear what I say to you; do not be rebellious like the rebellious
house; open your mouth and eat what I give you. I [Ezekiel] looked, and a hand was stretched out to
me, and a written scroll was in it... (Cook 1187), was at first bitter but soon turned sweet. This was a
metaphor for God s words, which Ezekiel was reluctant to speak, that in time became easier to
swallow. Ezekiel after this point became the watcher of the house of Israel, responsible for their
survival (Howe 204). Ezekiel s call meant if the Judeans did not heed Ezekiel s word and repent, God
s wrath would overtake them. However, since the chief priesthood of the day, Zadokites, controlled the

differences, the main one are the heroes, details of the flood, and the rewards from god. Gilgamesh,
who is part god part man, after his friend death, he went on a journey to look for an eternal life.

Unlike Gilgamesh, Noah is just a normal human, who willing to give up anything for God, even his
son. His faith is like no other. Because of that, God decided to save him. Tired of the wickedness and
sinfulness of humanity, God decided to wipeout the human kind, I will blot out from the earth the men
whom i created men together with beasts, creeping things, and birds of the sky; for I regret that I made
them (171). He want to save Noah and the animals, because he want them to carry on the mankind,
Noah was also the man who he trust in, Noah was a righteous man; he was blameless in his age. Noah
walked with God (171). At the end, God reward Noah with a blessing, God blessed him to have many
kids so he can carry on the humanity. Be fertile and increase, and fill the earth. The fear and the dread

Signs You re Balding and What You Can Do About It
N Signs You re Balding What You Can Do About It So there are some signs that you re balding but
you re not entirely sure. The signs range from finding lots of hair around your living area, noticing
that your scalp is more visible than usual, your hair seems to be growing slower, or a hairline that
seems to be receding faster than your hair is growing. Don t panic, hair loss can be resolved with a
few treatments, read on to find out more. Lots of Hair Falling All of us tend to lose 50 to 100 hairs a
day out of the 100,000 we have on our head. So it is common to find hair lying around your living
area, therefore you need not panic about it. However, if you re facing multiple signs of balding then
this is a crucial sign that you should change a few routines to ensure the hair fall is natural and not
aggravated. Ensure that you re not combing or brushing your hair too hard, the same goes to drying
your hair too roughly with a towel after a shower. Tugging or applying too much pressure to your hair
aggravates hair loss. Changing these simple lifestyle habits can change the rate of your hair falling out
and reduce the chances of balding or hair loss. Thinning Hair More Visible Scalp If you re starting to
notice that you have a more visible scalp, chances are that your hair is thinning and hair loss is
occurring. There are a few reasons to why this is happening that you can check and probably change.
Thinning hair sometimes occurs due to hormonal changes in your body. These

Lupus Explanation
It s the first time that I really think in stars and constellations. I see them all the nights but today was
the first day that I look for a real meaning in those bright points in the sky. For my essay I choose the
constellation Lupus and the reason it s very easy, i love animals and wolf is one of my favorites. This
constellation is situated in the south hemisphere between two others, Centaurus and Scorpius. In
addition it s not a big constellation; it is composed by thirty not very bright stars. The Nordic myth of
this constellation talk about Kati a wolf who go after the moon named Mani all the nights. Nordic
people think that lunar eclipses happened because that wolf was near the moon. This people think that

Gianni Versace Gianni Versace changed the world with his expensive clothing line and fashion; as a
result of this fact, he deserves to have a commemorative postage stamp in his honor. Gianni Versace
was a very inspirational talent and dedicated person and for that reason that is why his name is carried
on so high in the fashion industry. He was inspired as a child and also very strongly inspired by the
Greek ancient History. Gianni Versace was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy on December 2, 1948. He
attended Liceo Classico Tommaso Campanella where he studied the languages of Latin and Greek and
also the ancient times of them. The seed that was put in this very successful man was because he was
born into a fashion family. He was inspired because he was born into it. Versaces mother ran her own

The Capitalist Class And The Proletariat Essay
Adam Smith and Karl Marx both examine the capitalist mode of production as an issue of central
theoretical concern. I will be addressing many issues regarding capitalism from both theorists that will
demonstrate the general theoretical orientation that each has towards the nature of capitalism and the
roles of the capitalist class and the proletariat. This includes the moral character of the capitalist class,
the tendency of capitalism towards crisis, the effects of the division of labour, and the permanence of
the system in a historical context. Further, I will also demonstrate why these issues are relevant today,
and how many of the arguments made by these theorists are still being used.
The first issue surrounding the nature of capitalism I will address is the moral character of the
capitalist class as perceived by Adam Smith and Karl Marx. The overall position that Adam Smith
adopts in the Wealth of Nations is that the pursuit of self interest for personal gain of the capitalist can
be beneficial for the general welfare of society, so long as it is channeled through the market rather
than through the interference of the state (Baumol 1976; McNally 1998). However, this does not
imply that the interests of the capitalist class should be the guiding interests of the market. Baumol
(1976) argues that Smith repeatedly attacks the personal morality of the capitalists, arguing that the
intentions of the individual should not determine the economic fate of society. Smith

Third World Socialism Essay
Third World Socialism
Many United States citizens are frightened by the word Socialism. However, the predominant
ideology in most Third World countries is socialism. There are many reasons why Third World
countries have turned to socialism as their form of government. The main reason the Third World has
taken on the concept of socialism is because of the history of feudalism and colonialism that these
countries faced for so many years. Socialism was seen as a way to reform the land of many
underdeveloped countries. Socialism believes the government needs to intervene to make sure no
feudalism or unjust land ownership systems are being enforced.
For many years, Third World countries were being exploited by the British. Many of these ... Show

There are many aspects of socialism that many of the third world countries practice. The first aspect of
socialism is the rejection of communism and capitalism. Capitalism reminds them of their hated feudal
system and the exploitation that it involved. They also feel that communism lacks incentive because it
states that people should work only according to their abilities and will receive what they need from
the government. Due to the injustices that these people faced under a similar system, it is obvious that
capitalism or communism will not provide any motivation for it s people to work harder.
Third World socialism also advocates the idea of natural resources belonging to the nation and it s
people and not to the individual whose land they are located on. For instance, if a family owns a home
and oil is discovered there, the government will take the oil and distribute it to the nation. This is very
important because previously, under feudalism, if a person owned land containing oil, than that person
owned the oil. Since the majority of the landowners were the rich British, feudalism helped the rich
get richer and kept the poor in poverty. It is easy to see why Third World countries feel it is so
important to distribute the wealth more equally. Since many of these Third World countries are rich in
natural resources, it makes sense to make sure that nobody can exploit their resources again.
Another idea of Third World Socialism is that all public

Protests In Spain
Spain is facing an uprising in politics and their economy due to the contested independence
referendum in the Catalonia region. The Catalonia region is located on the border of Spain near
Barcelona and is very different than the other regions. Such as Madrid, Catalonia has a different
cultural heritage and language than Madrid, which is mainly why Catalonia wants to become
independant. Catalonia is the wealthiest, most different region in Spain and can already present itself
as a region that is independent with a stable economy. Catalonia is one of Spain s richest regions and
has very different cultural value and languages than the other regions in Spain. Since 2010, the

Catalonia is a democracy, and in a democracy the citizens are allowed to share their voices. But on
that Sunday, October 1st, over 900 people were injured for protesting and voting. Many police fired
rubber bullets and used batons to beat the protesters and voters up. These were not the same protesters
as before, these citizens were in support of the split between Catalonia and Spain. Downtown
Barcelona has been wild since this idea of splitting came about but there has been talk about positive
outcomes in the future for the region of Catalonia and Spain. Since Catalonia has proven itself as an
independent region in the past, there are many new aspects. On December 21st, there will be a new
regional election because the one before had 90% of voters supported this idea and the police did not
understand. Also with the voting day before, many in Madrid believe the voting was fair/ true but the
Prime Minister Rajoy believed that it was illegal and not fair because many did not vote due to the
physical abuse given by the police. Until December 21st, the best thing anyone can do is to just wait.
Waiting for any responses and news about what has happened in the Catalonia region can take forever,
but is hopefully worth the wait. As Spain waits to hear the news, the Catalonia region got help from
abroad, except help from Europe because what the Catalonia

Diagnostic And Diagnostic Classification System Essay
Introduction
Mental health disorders has been very strenuous and complex to understand and diagnose, many
diagnosis criteria such as DSM have been used to determine the disorders and medication (Szabo,
2011). I am asserting that Yes, Psychopathology diagnostic classification systems (such as the DSM or
ICD) are of little use to health professionals and patients because behaviours are often misidentified
and medicalised . To assert this, this paper is going to explore four main topics that contribute to the
little use of psychopathology diagnostic classification system, these include downsides for using DSM
diagnostic criteria, Medicalisation and misdiagnose, consequences of medicalisation to the health
professionals and community and Psychological trauma in patients. Szabo, (2011) states that
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) has been utilised to diagnose and
categorize mental illness in psychiatry. However this diagnosis is focused on definitions of operational
rather than the cause (Warelow Holmes, 2011). This paper will first explore the downside of using
DSM criteria to diagnose mental health.
Downsides for using DSM diagnostic criteria
Using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder as a diagnostic method has been of
little use for clients and health professionals as this method gives indications that are similar for nearly
all mental health issues (Johnstone, 2008). The fact is that there is no individuals who can claim

The Liberating Madness
Name Class Prof Date A Liberating Madness in The Yellow Wallpaper What is madness? And what is
the state we define as sanity? Mental illness is characterized by disturbances in a person s thoughts,
emotions, or behavior. However there is no universally accepted definition. In general, the definition
of mental illness depends on a society s norms, or rules of behavior. According to Encarta Online
Encyclopedia, Behaviors that violate these norms are considered signs of deviance or, in some cases,
of mental illness. Therefore sanity and insanity are better understood as a construction of the society
we live in. Gilman s Yellow Wallpaper portrays a woman s struggle against society s expectations, and

John knows perfectly well that he is in control. As she continues to examine the wallpaper, she is able
to distinguish two different patterns: I didn t realize for a long time what the thing was that showed
behind, that dim sub pattern (Gilman 16). For the first time, she is able to see herself as an
independent person, not as her husband s possession or object of gratification of her culture. Later,
feelings of frustration and anger emerge as a result of the discrepancies between her desires and her
obligations: I can see a strange, provoking, formless sort of figure (Gilman 9). The narrator proceeds
to acknowledge her entrapment: the faint figure behind seemed to shake the pattern, just as if she
wanted to get out (Gilman 14). The climax comes when the narrator visualizes the figure as a woman
who finally rebels: The front pattern does move and no wonder! The woman behind shakes it (Gilman
20). At this point she is fully aware of the effect, pattern is having on the woman, and on herself. The
trapped woman is being strangled because of her defiance ; she is being trapped and strangled by
society s conventions for work, words, roles and behavior. It is only after this process of self
recognition and acknowledgement that the narrator will be able to take a step forward towards her
liberation. The narrator achieves her liberation as she merges with the woman in the wallpaper. By the

Themes And Characters In Libba Boviny s Going Vanany
Have you ever done anything for anybody else just because you actually cared about them? No. You
probably don t even know what that feels like. This is the part where I jump in and say, Why, that s not

Disney Springs At Jock Lindsey
Yesterday evening we went over to Disney Springs for dinner at Jock Lindsey s, but first we wanted to
swing by the new Ganachery Chocolate Shoppe that had just opened a couple days before. We love
good chocolate, so we had high hopes for this newest addition to the list of high end foodie shops at
Walt Disney World. The Ganachery did not disappoint! For most people, unless you know of some
little artisan confectionery, the best chocolates you can get your hands on are Godiva. There is an
excitement and ritual to opening that gleaming golden box and breathing in that smell. Amplify the
smell, the taste, the creaminess by 10 fold; THEN you have the Ganachery chocolates!
You can find the shop kitty corner from Jock Lindsey s, just past the turn off for Raglan Road. When
we arrived there was only another couple in line ahead of us and we were allowed inside after only a
minute or two. They were limiting the number of people who could shop at one time because the
footprint of the floor is incredibly tiny. If I recall they only wanted 7 or 8 customers to be inside at one
time. I didn t feel that the short wait was too much to ask, even though some people stomped off after
only being in line 30 seconds or so. They were offering free sea salt caramel samples while we waited
so who was I to complain!?

Failure to manage a payroll effectively may cause many problems for the company and its employees.
It could mean loss of money, integrity, and trust between both parties.
Oftentimes, it takes many hours of work and manpower to get the job done. In certain cases, effective
payroll management is compromised by the lack of an effective system. Most companies may have
enough manpower and resources. However, with an effective information technology, managing a
payroll will be simpler, cost effective, timely and reliable.
One of the companies that use manual payroll system is the Arias Garments. It was established last
September 18, 1994 at #88 Bargy. Latag, Lipa City, under the management of Mr. Alex Arias together
with his wife Mrs. Anita Carol Katigbak. It started with only forty machines and ten employees. The
capital of Arias Garments is Php 500,000.00. By 1996, Arias Garments became the subcontractor of
Champan Garments. Champan Garments produce and transport products like Gap, Banana Republic,
Old Navy, Tommy, and Hilfinger.
As of now, Arias Garments have 176 machines and 100 employees (40 regular and 60 contractual).
8:00AM is the time in of employees, 4:00PM is the time out, and they consider 8:15AM as late.

The Struggle of the Women of Sudan
The women of Sudan have come a long way in their struggle not only to be heard, but also to have a
positive and lasting effect on the people in Sudan. This organization was born during exile, and
reflects the long struggle and what has been achieved by the women in Sudan. Since its establishment
in 1998, this organization has brought women from the both the Northern and Southern part of Sudan
together in order to work for the same goals. Women in Sudan have started a campaign that will work
to defuse the hostility between communities as well as to have a social identity in where they can
empower themselves and fight for their rights. This peace movement has helped to produce the
development and peace within their communities. Overall, this movement has worked to strengthen
and empower women politically, socially, and economically. The history of how this peace movement
initially began in 1997. But before this movement had started, Sudan was and still continues to be in a
state of violence, chaos, and restlessness. The main reason being that Sudan has historically been
home to many different ethnic groups that speak various languages and different customs. Since the
1500s different groups of people tried to colonize and rule over Sudan. Because of the constant
conquering by different people Sudan never really achieved a state of peace. In 1504 Sudan was
conquered by The Funj Sultanate, who were Muslims immigrants from Arabia that introduced Islam
into the region. Then

Du Bois believed that these initiatives were crucial in order to catch up to whites and establish a

overlapping ideas on progressive education from the Early Republic era. However, the main additive
to the scene during the Progressive Era by Du Bois was to establish political opportunity for African
Americans. This would have to be accomplished by recognizing black identity through cultural and

Essay about Greed is the Most Influential Vice
Since time immemorial, people have been trying to institutionalize moral values. love kindness,
patience, contentment are just a few out of the plethora of positive traits. However, mankind being
imperfect beings can never achieve perfection. Of all the vices that human possess, greed could be
said to be the most influential. It is the distinct opposite of contentment and the very trait that has
cause the fall of many countries. Perhaps most disturbing is that fact that greed has also torn apart
countless families who would have otherwise been living in happiness. Indeed, one may say that greed
is worthy to be one of the greatest sins. Yet there are those who proclaim that greed is necessary for
mankind to evolve and rise above themselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gambling in itself is a corollary to greed, a manifestation of it. When left to his own devices, the
husband ends up in debts. His spouse and children suffer as a result of his misdeeds. While one may
say that a person nature depends on the circumstances surrounding the individual, one cannot deny
that it his greed that has torn this man s family asunder. Greed encompasses logic such that we fail to
think straight. A loving husband and wife at one moment, mortal enemies the next. For money, they
would cut at each other s throats. With casinos being built, it does not augur well for many nations.
Hence it is instrumental that the government takes measures to curb avid gamblers. History has shown
us how a nations can suffer because of greed. The Japanese in their obsession with power started
world war 2. countless lives were lost and dreams shattered. More often that not, the damage is
irreparable. When a person or country falls into oblivion as a results of greed, the sheer ignominy
torments them mentally, making it hard for then to ever pick themselves up again.
However the opposite of the same coin could be true as well. The conventional notion of greed is
opposed with a positive view as well. Such is the paradox of out time. Students for example should
possess the greed for success for it is greed the ultimately drives one to excel academically. Imagine a
world whereby people are easily

Male Utopian And Dystopias
As Bammer explains, while male utopian writers are mainly interested in broadening their influence
and power and exploring other worlds, women s utopias aim to change their current situation by
reconstructing the power relations that affect their lives. She states that these fantasies are much more
achievable in theory and much more urgent than men s. However, women had no reason to turn to
such a male dominated genre while they had genres more suitable for delving into the private sphere
and its more realistic utopian possibilities (Bammer, 2004).
Bammer points out that although men s utopian fantasies take different approaches compared to
women s, women are far from absent in men s utopia. In fact, women seem to have a central role in

Dystopian fiction is engaged with the argument between the desire of the individual and the societal
demand, emphasizing the sexuality and relations among the genders as parts of this conflict (Brooker
1994, 337). Brooker states that the governments of dystopian societies in books such as We, Brave
New World or Nineteen Eighty Four all use sexuality as the primary tool to control society. Brooker
also points out that despite this consistent focus on sexuality in dystopian fiction, the major works of
the genre have done relatively little to challenge conventional notions of gender roles . Although there
is considerable emphasis on sexuality in dystopian fiction, Brooker argues that conventional notions
of gender roles remain unchallenged in major works of the genre. He observes that even though these
literary dystopias and utopias stress the importance of gender equality, they remain places where men
are men and women are women, and in relatively conventional ways . Brooker brings up More s
Utopia as an example of this trend. In Utopia, women and men are proclaimed completely equal, even
though it is a patriarchal society where men are still the head of the household and women belong to
their fathers or husbands. However, according to Brooker, More consciously tried to provide women
with opportunities for education and work

Why Is Lady Macbeth The Real Villain
In Shakespeare s tragedy, Macbeth the notion of who the real villain is explored. Throughout the play,
Shakespeare ventilates a myriad of factors, which lends the audience to believe Lady Macbeth is the
real villain, but in fact she is not to blame for the catalyst of Macbeth s downfall. The play centres on
the notion of the real villain, and what really harbingers the death of Macbeth is explored, and whether
the real villain and main cause of Macbeth s death was his manipulative wife, the supernatural witches
or something from within the mind of the play s main protagonist. In the lead up to Macbeth s act of

Macbeths cruel and heartless natures goes as far as to organise the murder of one of his closest
comrade and his son for the sole purpose that he feared that they were a threat to his kingship.
Through this act of duplicity, we are shown a clear sign that his villainous side is now in control of
him, even though what brought it forward was something external to his own mind. Additionally, in
the final moments before Macbeth s decision to go through with the plan of killing Duncan, it had all
but come down to his choice, with no ascendency from external sources. In Act 2, Scene 1, the dagger
[he] sees before [him] might have been the final push he needed to commit his act of regicide and it is
most likely that this vision of a dagger was created by his own imagination, demonstrating that part of
his own mind, perhaps a villainous part of his sub conscious, was what created the illusion of the
dagger. This makes it clear that deep down a part of him had the ambition to kill Duncan, and the use
of a soliloquy enables the audience to hear his confused and conflicting thoughts as he is persuaded by
his own mind to kill the king. These acts of evil are a result of the contributions to Macbeth s villainy

  • 2. Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer s Day Figurative Language Throughout the four seasons people would mostly say that summer is there favorite season. Why do people tend to enjoy summer so much? Could it be that during the summer the weather gets hot during the day and warm at night? Could it be that you can venture off to different places like the beach with your family and friends or sticking your toes in the water or sand? Whatever the case may be the summer time seems to be the season to have fun, laugh, and relax. In the Backpack Literature textbook on chapter 14, it focuses on figures of speech. Figures of speech is a big part of literature that people need to learn. How is figures of speech very important to our everyday use? I feel like in literature it is important for people to understand the meanings that the authors and also yourself are expressing in a story, poem, speech, and many more literary contexts. Dealing with figurative language you are going to see examples like metaphors, similes, oxymoron s, personifications, and so much that refer in a context. In this particular poem that I will be discussing about has metaphors and similes. The poem, Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer s Day by Howard Moss. There is always other version on this poem by William Shakespeare that was a sonnet but I feel like Howard Moss wanted to put he own spin off of the Shakespeare s poem. In Howard Moss poem, Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer s Day, he express how much the person he admires mean to him with metaphors and similes. Howard Moss ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Best Present Treatment For Celiac Disease ( Cd ) Is A... Results Across the research, there have been commonalities and similarities. Most of the authors agree that the best present treatment for celiac disease (CD) is a gluten free diet (GFD). A cross sectional age matched study done on 18 Italian children, aged four to 10 years, demonstrated that there were statistical differences in eating habits and frequency of eating among CD children and a control group. These dietary intakes were measured using the semi quantitative Block Food Frequency Questionnaire (Zuccotti et al., 2013, p. 438). While there were statistical differences in dietary intakes between the control group and the test group, the body mass index (BMI) values were not statistically different. These differences may be ... A limitation of the survey is that the parents of CD patients were questioned rather than the patients themselves, which leaves room for inaccuracies due to perception. With that being said, a strength is that the survey is designed for celiac children and adolescents, who are the most problematic groups and the population with the highest probability of access to an alternative therapy (Norsa et al., 2015, p.593). A study conducted by Sharp, Walker, and Coppell (2014) examined the results of the New Zealand Coeliac Health Survey, a self administered cross sectional survey of biopsy positive respondents aged 16 years and over (n=936) (p. 223). The results indicated that patients expressed an assortment of symptoms prior to being diagnosed. Patients expressed relief from some symptoms when adhering to a strict GFD, but continued to suffer from others. 12.6% (n=118) attributed their symptoms to other food allergies and 26.0% (n=243) to hidden sources of gluten (Sharp et al., 2014, p. 224). • 4. Carpe Diem Analysis Aaron Jeu Ms. Wagner English 1B 22 June 2017 Rough Draft: Life and Death Carpe Diem is a Latin phrase, which often tends to denote a significant literary theme found in popular culture, including Peter Weir s Dead Poets Society or Green Day s song, Carpe Diem. However, it is also especially common in lyrical poetry. According to Oxford Dictionary, it is used [as encouragement] to make the most of the present life while it lasts or live for the moment. Both Dylan Thomas s Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night and Robert Frost s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening explore the notion that individuals should endeavor life to its fullest. In his poem, Thomas expresses a very passionate, pleading voice to deeply allure his audience. In contrast, Frost communicates his approach in a more pensive, practical, subtle style that slyly provokes the audience to think about their own fate. The collective theme of the two poems is similar in that both explain that death is imminent, that individuals should not take for granted the time they have left on Earth, and that people need courage to face death, and to realize that death can wait. However, Thomas utilizes an ardent, compelling tone to assert his beliefs that individuals should partake in a more dynamic role and embrace what will happen to them during their lives. On the contrary, Frost believes that every human has a timely death and that people should strive to fulfill their commissions before giving in to death. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Psy 201 Week 1 Evolution Research Paper According to Ms. Witsaman, evolution is not the theory of how life began, which is a common misconception nowadays, but the theory of how life has changed over time. Theories are predictions which are backed up by several evidences and supported by scientists. The evidences that scientists use now to prove include fossils, homologous structures, analogous structures, vestigial structures, embryology, biogeography, and biochemicals. Fossils are the remains of living things that once roamed the Earth. Homologous structure are structures shared by different organisms that have similar structure but different functions. I have to assume that the skulls that were closest to walking on four legs lived in environments with a lot of trees and high grounds. That being said, now I have to assume that our ancestors eventually found it easier to live in long plains and migrated which made them lose the need to be efficient on all fours, thus leading to bipedalism. Conclusion: My hypothesis is was not supported since there was not a single organism that walked on four legs according to my data. I realized that just the general shape and condition of the skull didn t correlate with how old it was, but the cranial capacity was the major determining factor. Every time humans evolved the need for their mental capacity increased and that s evident in the skulls: the oldest having the smallest cranial capacity, the most recent having the largest cranial capacity. I also want to say that according to my data, our ancestors didn t all just start walking on two legs one day, but the need to walk on two legs wasn t there for a couple of our ancestors which is why some are so close to not being able to walk on two legs at all. That leads me to say that bipedalism was not dependant on when an organism was alive but where an organism was alive. As for prognathism, I also believe that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Dolly s Relatable In the chapter Selling the General in the book A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan the main character, Dolly, comes off as relatable mother going through a tough time at first, but the line of work and the people she deals with makes us realize how she isn t as much as an identifiable person. In the article The Scourge of Relatability, Rebecca Mead defines relatable as describing a character or a situation in which an ordinary person might see himself reflected (2014). Dolly is relatable because she is an over worked single mother with financial problems and struggling to connect with her child, Lulu. On the other hand, she isn t relatable because she is using her work to protect the image of a well known dictator. In her article, Mead states that many people automatically see a work as a failure if they cant easily relate to it or the people involved. She goes on to say, it is our own failure to reject a work that we don t relate to because we can still exercise our imagination to feel empathy and eventually relate to it (2014). Dolly for the most part is not relatable to us, but with a little effort to look past the evil, we can see that Dolly is a loving and concerned parent looking to emotionally connect with her child, which causes us to empathize and ultimately identify with her. Early on in the chapter, Egan states, The first installment appeared in her bank account. Her relief was so immense that it almost obliterated the voice inside her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The music is rebellious and its uncompromising intensity is uncatagorizable for its urgent flooding past genre definitions. Miles music of the five year period is unlike any music that preceded it, and still, 30 years later, so original, so Progressive, and so inadequately described. It s no wonder that with his transformation into electric experiment, Miles lost a huge share of the loyal audience who had been following his earlier career. This new electric music dared to shed a amp;quot;jazz amp;quot; sound to integrate the highly charged, youthful raw power from rock and funk. Ignoring barriers, this music refuses to stay in any amp;quot;proper amp;quot; place. Besides being multicultural, it makes an even bigger transgression: it is often unpleasant, assaulted, harsh, macho, eerie, and seemingly formless. Just as Miles Davis career is a continuous progression of remaking and replenishing himself, he has moved on and left his old self in the past decade. This music is not useful as background music. It cannot be used in the same way the 30 years worth of Miles previous music can be used. It demands attentiveness. It is militant and arrogant. Strauss explains how certain events and characters from Homers The Odyssey might have actually existed, but also uses modern discoveries from the Bronze Age to compare Homers account to those of Egypt, the Middle East, and etc. While Homer s epic should not be read as a historical document which recounts the Trojan War hundred percent accurately, it can still be seen as document which embodies some historical truth. The novel as a whole explains the customs, economic standing, fighting styles and beliefs of the Greeks. Strauss s writing style allows for the book to be accessible to both students and historians. He argues that just like Franz Ferdinand was the spark which ignited World War 1, Helen on the other hand was just a spark which escalated an existing tension between the Greeks and Trojans. Strauss s personal input on the war itself gives the novel a different outlook on the Trojan War because, it allows for readers to see beyond the facts and make connections with ideas that Strauss had made with recent discoveries and Homers epic. I will be addressing many issues regarding capitalism from both theorists that will demonstrate the general theoretical orientation that each has towards the nature of capitalism and the roles of the capitalist class and the proletariat. This includes the moral character of the capitalist class, the tendency of capitalism towards crisis, the effects of the division of labour, and the permanence of the system in a historical context. Further, I will also demonstrate why these issues are relevant today, and how many of the arguments made by these theorists are still being used. The first issue surrounding the nature of capitalism I will address is the moral character of the capitalist class as perceived by Adam Smith and Karl Marx. The overall position that Adam Smith adopts in the Wealth of Nations is that the pursuit of self interest for personal gain of the capitalist can be beneficial for the general welfare of society, so long as it is channeled through the market rather than through the interference of the state (Baumol 1976; McNally 1998). However, this does not imply that the interests of the capitalist class should be the guiding interests of the market. There are many aspects of socialism that many of the third world countries practice. The first aspect of socialism is the rejection of communism and capitalism. Capitalism reminds them of their hated feudal system and the exploitation that it involved. They also feel that communism lacks incentive because it states that people should work only according to their abilities and will receive what they need from the government. Due to the injustices that these people faced under a similar system, it is obvious that capitalism or communism will not provide any motivation for it s people to work harder. Third World socialism also advocates the idea of natural resources belonging to the nation and it s people and not to the individual whose land they are located on. For instance, if a family owns a home and oil is discovered there, the government will take the oil and distribute it to the nation. This is very important because previously, under feudalism, if a person owned land containing oil, than that person owned the oil. Since the majority of the landowners were the rich British, feudalism helped the rich get richer and kept the poor in poverty. It is easy to see why Third World countries feel it is so important to distribute the wealth more equally. Since many of these Third World countries are rich in natural resources, it makes sense to make sure that nobody can exploit their resources again. Diagnostic And Diagnostic Classification System Essay Introduction Mental health disorders has been very strenuous and complex to understand and diagnose, many diagnosis criteria such as DSM have been used to determine the disorders and medication (Szabo, 2011). I am asserting that Yes, Psychopathology diagnostic classification systems (such as the DSM or ICD) are of little use to health professionals and patients because behaviours are often misidentified and medicalised . To assert this, this paper is going to explore four main topics that contribute to the little use of psychopathology diagnostic classification system, these include downsides for using DSM diagnostic criteria, Medicalisation and misdiagnose, consequences of medicalisation to the health professionals and community and Psychological trauma in patients. Szabo, (2011) states that Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) has been utilised to diagnose and categorize mental illness in psychiatry. However this diagnosis is focused on definitions of operational rather than the cause (Warelow Holmes, 2011). This paper will first explore the downside of using DSM criteria to diagnose mental health. Downsides for using DSM diagnostic criteria Using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder as a diagnostic method has been of little use for clients and health professionals as this method gives indications that are similar for nearly all mental health issues (Johnstone, 2008). Disney Springs At Jock Lindsey Yesterday evening we went over to Disney Springs for dinner at Jock Lindsey s, but first we wanted to swing by the new Ganachery Chocolate Shoppe that had just opened a couple days before. We love good chocolate, so we had high hopes for this newest addition to the list of high end foodie shops at Walt Disney World. The Ganachery did not disappoint! For most people, unless you know of some little artisan confectionery, the best chocolates you can get your hands on are Godiva. There is an excitement and ritual to opening that gleaming golden box and breathing in that smell. Amplify the smell, the taste, the creaminess by 10 fold; THEN you have the Ganachery chocolates! You can find the shop kitty corner from Jock Lindsey s, just past the turn off for Raglan Road. When we arrived there was only another couple in line ahead of us and we were allowed inside after only a minute or two. They were limiting the number of people who could shop at one time because the footprint of the floor is incredibly tiny. If I recall they only wanted 7 or 8 customers to be inside at one time. I didn t feel that the short wait was too much to ask, even though some people stomped off after only being in line 30 seconds or so. They were offering free sea salt caramel samples while we waited so who was I to complain!? When I first walked in the first thing that I noticed was the lighting... it s terrible for taking photos, lol, so let me apologize right now for the terrible quality of some of ... Essay about Greed is the Most Influential Vice Since time immemorial, people have been trying to institutionalize moral values. love kindness, patience, contentment are just a few out of the plethora of positive traits. His spouse and children suffer as a result of his misdeeds. Greed encompasses logic such that we fail to think straight. A loving husband and wife at one moment, mortal enemies the next. For money, they would cut at each other s throats. With casinos being built, it does not augur well for many nations. Hence it is instrumental that the government takes measures to curb avid gamblers. • 37. Male Utopian And Dystopias As Bammer explains, while male utopian writers are mainly interested in broadening their influence and power and exploring other worlds, women s utopias aim to change their current situation by reconstructing the power relations that affect their lives. She states that these fantasies are much more achievable in theory and much more urgent than men s. However, women had no reason to turn to such a male dominated genre while they had genres more suitable for delving into the private sphere and its more realistic utopian possibilities (Bammer, 2004). Bammer points out that although men s utopian fantasies take different approaches compared to women s, women are far from absent in men s utopia. In fact, women seem to have a central role in these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dystopian fiction is engaged with the argument between the desire of the individual and the societal demand, emphasizing the sexuality and relations among the genders as parts of this conflict (Brooker 1994, 337). Brooker states that the governments of dystopian societies in books such as We, Brave New World or Nineteen Eighty Four all use sexuality as the primary tool to control society. Brooker also points out that despite this consistent focus on sexuality in dystopian fiction, the major works of the genre have done relatively little to challenge conventional notions of gender roles . Although there is considerable emphasis on sexuality in dystopian fiction, Brooker argues that conventional notions of gender roles remain unchallenged in major works of the genre. He observes that even though these literary dystopias and utopias stress the importance of gender equality, they remain places where men are men and women are women, and in relatively conventional ways . Brooker brings up More s Utopia as an example of this trend. In Utopia, women and men are proclaimed completely equal, even though it is a patriarchal society where men are still the head of the household and women belong to their fathers or husbands. However, according to Brooker, More consciously tried to provide women with opportunities for education and work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the play, Shakespeare ventilates a myriad of factors, which lends the audience to believe Lady Macbeth is the real villain, but in fact she is not to blame for the catalyst of Macbeth s downfall. The play centres on the notion of the real villain, and what really harbingers the death of Macbeth is explored, and whether the real villain and main cause of Macbeth s death was his manipulative wife, the supernatural witches or something from within the mind of the play s main protagonist. Macbeths cruel and heartless natures goes as far as to organise the murder of one of his closest comrade and his son for the sole purpose that he feared that they were a threat to his kingship. Through this act of duplicity, we are shown a clear sign that his villainous side is now in control of him, even though what brought it forward was something external to his own mind. Additionally, in the final moments before Macbeth s decision to go through with the plan of killing Duncan, it had all but come down to his choice, with no ascendency from external sources. In Act 2, Scene 1, the dagger [he] sees before [him] might have been the final push he needed to commit his act of regicide and it is most likely that this vision of a dagger was created by his own imagination, demonstrating that part of his own mind, perhaps a villainous part of his sub conscious, was what created the illusion of the dagger. This makes it clear that deep down a part of him had the ambition to kill Duncan, and the use of a soliloquy enables the audience to hear his confused and conflicting thoughts as he is persuaded by his own mind to kill the king.
