Thesis Statement Essay Example
Writing an essay on the topic "Thesis Statement Essay Example" can be a challenging task. The
difficulty lies in the need to effectively convey the essence of a thesis statement while providing
a concrete and illustrative example. Crafting a well-rounded essay involves not only
understanding the intricacies of a thesis statement but also being able to communicate this
knowledge coherently and persuasively.
One of the challenges is striking the right balance between theoretical explanation and practical
application. It requires a deep understanding of the components that make a strong thesis
statement and the ability to translate that understanding into a clear and compelling example.
Moreover, ensuring that the essay maintains a logical flow, with the thesis statement seamlessly
integrated into the overall structure, adds an additional layer of complexity.
Additionally, the task involves conducting thorough research to find a suitable and relevant
example that effectively supports the thesis statement. This requires time and effort to sift
through various sources, evaluate their credibility, and synthesize the information into a cohesive
argument.
Furthermore, expressing thoughts in a concise yet comprehensive manner poses its own set of
challenges. Striking the right balance between brevity and thoroughness is crucial, as an essay
that is too verbose may lose the reader's interest, while one that is too concise may lack depth.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic "Thesis Statement Essay Example" demands a
combination of research skills, analytical thinking, and effective communication. It involves
navigating the intricate nuances of crafting a strong thesis statement and providing a relevant
example that not only illustrates the point but also engages the reader. Despite the challenges,
mastering this skill is valuable for academic and professional success.

Savage Satire In Our Mutual Friend By Charles Dickens
Our Mutual Friend, written in the years 1864 65, is the last novel completed by
Charles Dickens and is one of his most sophisticated works, combining savage
satire with social analysis. It centres on, in the words of critic J. Hillis Miller
(quoting from the character Bella Wilfer in the book), money, money, money, and
what money can make of life. In the opening chapters a body is found in the
Thames and identified as that of John Harmon, a young man recently returned to
London to receive his inheritance. Were he alive, his father s will would require him
to marry Bella Wilfer, a beautiful, mercenary girl whom he had never met. Instead,
the money passes to the working class Boffins, and the effects spread into various
corners of London society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Silas Wegg: Some people might accuse Charles Dickens of being too idealistic and
naГЇve when he talks about poor people. After all, some of the poor characters in his
novels are incredibly beloved by readers (we re looking at you, Oliver Twist).
But Silas Wegg is here to remind us that Dickens didn t necessarily think poor people
were nicer than rich ones. The truth is that Dickens thinks you can find both horrible
and angelic people anywhere, whether they re poor or not.
Mr Boffin: Mr. Boffin kind of like Winnie the Pooh: he s bumbling and naГЇve, but
also loyal and kind. The whole reason Old Man Harmon leaves his money to Mr.
Boffin (and Mrs. Boffin) is because Boffin was always his most loyal and trusted
servant. When we first meet Boffin in this book, we find him trustworthy because,
quite frankly, the guy doesn t seem smart enough to deceive anybody. He s also
pretty baldly honest he s even willing to admit that his wife is smarter and more
stylish than himself, saying,
These arrangements is made by mutual consent between Mrs. Boffin and me. Mrs.
Boffin, as I ve mentioned, is a highflyer at Fashion; at present I m
Taking a Look at the Russian-Ukraine Conflict
The conflict stems from the result of the Government s decision to turn down the
European Union proposed association agreement in 2013 and instead Ukraine s
President Viktor Yanukovych accepted fifteen billion dollars in aid and other
economic benefits from Russian President Vladimir Putin. For years Ukrainianshave
yearned for economic reform that would seek to open new trade and economic ties
with Western European countries. President Yanukovych s decision to reject the EU s
proposal ignored the feeling of the majority of Ukrainian citizens and further
solidified the sentiment that their government was strengthening ties with Russiaand
not with the west. President Yanukovych actions spawned unrest among the
Ukrainian people, forcing them to condemn and denounce their corrupt government
and to question their Presidents legitimacy. This pushed an already fractured society
into the streets of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine to protest their disapproval. In
response President Yanukovych ordered riot police and military personnel to move
into cities throughout Ukraine in order to squash any dissent. Clashes between
opposition and the government slowly escalated over a two month period, in
February the death toll for protesters in the city of Kiev rose into the hundreds. On
February 21 members of the opposition overtook the capital and the Presidents
Yanukovych residence, forcing him to flee to Russia to avoid charges by the
opposition of murdering protesters. Russia
Political Campaigns
Funding for political campaigns requires lots of contributions. A campaign can
receive an unlimited amount of funding. The matter is from where do they receive
this funding and how do they receive it. For example people can donate as much
money as they please to different types of committees called super Pacs. A super
Pac is a committee that is able to raise an unlimited amount of money via the way
of ads or cash without the candidate s direct involvement. These super PACs are
legal through a loophole in some disclosure laws. According to the Federal Election
Commission, an individual is allowed to contribute $2,700 per election to a candidate
committee. An individual is also allowed to contribute $33,400 per year to a national

The Six Day War Essay
The Six Day War
Introduction
History records the 1967 Arab Israeli War (Six Day War) as one of the most
memorable on record. Israeli forces delivered a stunning defeat to a coalition of
Arab forces that greatly outnumbered the much smaller Israeli force. Victory was
made possible by the initial aerial attack launched by Israeli Air Forces. The
elements of surprise, stealth, Operational Security (OPSEC), precision planning and
flawless execution were essential to victory. The opening aerial offensive has been
called one of the most stunning successes in modern warfare . This case study will
review the history, preparation, execution, and lessons learned of this conflict. There

Jordan and Syrian forces were reinforcing positions. Egyptian
forces were massing on its borders, blockading shipping lanes in the Strait of Tiran,
and
flying reconnaissance flights over Israel . Even the United Nations peacekeeping force
was removed, a major victory for Arab forces . Nothing was left to protect Israel. She
was on her own to navigate this difficult situation and mercy was not an option to
expect
from her enemies.
Much of the nation feared the upcoming war. Elementary school students were
tasked to dig graves in order to prepare for the massive casualties that were expected .
National politicians remained very concerned over the nation s ability to meet the
threat
of combined Arab nations. The expectation of Arab attacks was anticipated and the
mood
was drear. It was felt that the demise of the nation of Israel was in the realm of
possibility; that absolute destruction of those who had survived such horrible
calamities
at the hands of history s evil men.
Planning and Preparation
Combat power was certainly in the favor of Arab forces. Manpower was 409,000 vs.
230,000. Tanks were 2,437 vs. 1,100. Artillery pieces were 649 vs. 260. Naval
vessels were 90 vs. 22. Aircraft were 969 vs. 354. All were in favor of Arab forces .
Israel had little hope in terms of combat power. Warfare skills would have to far
surpass the Arab
Curfew Research Paper
Natasha was walking home from a friends house one Thursday night at around
eleven thirty. Natasha heard these loud bangs and crashes against buildings. It
alarmed her that something was not right. She began to walk a bit faster, but the
noises crept up to her. Natasha was kidnapped that Thursday night and was never
seen again. Perhaps this is the reason why our city council is making it illegal for
teenagers to be out on the streets after 10 p.m. on weekdays and after midnight on
weekends. I agree with the consideration of the 10 p.m. and 12 a.m. curfewfor teens
because it is safer and it limits the opportunity for teenagers to make bad choices.
Anything bad can happen in the daytime, but it is more likely to happen in the
dark of night. There are a lot of safety issues that can occur during the night. An
intruder has more of an opportunity to attack a teen in the dark. The darkest places
in the dark such as dark alleys are very dangerous. A young teen could walk down a
dark alley after midnight and get taken within a blink of an eye. It is also very simple
for someone to carry a young teen behind a building and beat him or her half to
death and possibly even raped. That type of violence can take a massive toll on
someone. If this curfew law were to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Aging- Living Organisms
Aging is a fundamental truth and an inevitable aspect of every living organism in
the world. There are more than four hundred theories on how and why we age.
None of them stands out as a single winner in explaining everything about aging but
in fact, they are all interconnected and together they explain the possible process of
aging. This assignment attempts to explore the research based avenues which
could possibly help Mickey live significantly longer than Minnie, based on the
assumption that Mickey and Minnie inherit the same genetic programme but
follow different life styles. Different authors and researchers define aging
differently. Aging has been defined by Balducci(2007) as a loss of entropy and
fractality. Loss of entropy implies a progressive reduction in an individual s
functional reserve, whereas loss of fractality implies a progressive reduction in the
ability to coordinate different activity and negotiate the environment . Yet another
definition which would encapsulate the wider meaning of the term aging is aging as
a multifaceted phenomenon associated with decrements in cellular and
physiological functions, increases in the incidence of numerous degenerative
diseases and diminished capacity for responding to stress (Beckman and Ames,
1998). The theories on aging can broadly be classified as programmed and damage
based. While the former argues that the complex process of aging is primarily pre
programmed by genes and not due to any random or
Essay on The Republican Party
The Republican Party
The Republican party is one of the two major POLITICAL PARTIES in the United
States, the other being the DEMOCRATIC PARTY party. It is popularly known as
the GOP, from its earlier nickname Grand Old Party. From the time it ran its first
PRESIDENTIAL candidate, John C. Fremont, in 1856, until the inauguration of
Republican George BUSH in 1989, Republican presidents occupied the WHITE
HOUSE for 80 years. Traditionally, Republican strength came primarily from New
England and the Midwest. After World War II, however, it greatly increased in the
Sunbelt states and the West. Generally speaking, after World War I the Republican
party became the more conservative of the two major parties, with its support coming

The new party was a success from the beginning. In the 1854 congressional
elections 44 Republicans were elected as a part of the anti Nebraskan majority in
the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, and several Republicans were elected to the
SENATE and to various state houses. In 1856, at the first Republican national
convention, Sen. John C. Fremont was nominated for the presidency but was
defeated by Democrat James BUCHANAN. During the campaign the northern wing
of the KNOW NOTHING PARTY split off and endorsed the Republican ticket,
making the Republicans the principal antislavery party.
Two days after the inauguration of James Buchanan, the Supreme Court handed down
the Dred Scott v. Sandford decision, which increased sectional dissension and was
denounced by the Republicans. At this time the nation was also gripped by economic
chaos. Business blamed tariff reductions, and Republican leaders called for greater
tariff protection. The split in the Democratic party over the issue of slavery
continued, and in 1858 the Republicans won control of the House of Representatives
for the first time. One Republican who failed that year was Abraham LINCOLN,
defeated in his bid for a U.S. Senate seat by Stephen A. Douglas.
Lincoln, the Civil War, and Reconstruction
At the second Republican national convention, in 1860, a hard fought contest
resulted in the presidential nomination of Abraham Lincoln. The
German History Essay
Most would agree that it is valuable to acknowledge history, whether it be through
documentation, education, or architectural preservation. However, history can be
complex and ugly, stained by war, genocide, and destruction. Therein lies a
philosophical controversy: should these historical stains be acknowledged or buried?
What role do these ugly histories have in the development of a society? Within the
last century, no nation has been forced to confront these questions on the same scale
that Germanyhas (Levinger 118). With a twentieth century historymarked by hatred
and the abuse of power, National Socialism and Soviet communism, Germany s dark
history lies only decades in the past. For this reason, these histories remain freshly...

In essence, historic preservation roots collective memory in a physical, tangible
space. To many scholars, memory in this context is not simply information that is
recalled and retold (qtd. in Till 11). Instead, it is the act of continuously finding and
contextualizing history by means of physical space. Preservation of historical
architecture is therefore unique, as it juxtaposes this history and memory with the
surrounding modern world. This highlights the importance of preserving history
through architecture, rather than museums, textbooks, and archives alone. By
preserving the physical remnants of a city s dark history, residents and passersby
are forced to confront this history nondeliberately. Moreover, according to Rudy J.
Koshar, a preserved site must maintain some present value or purpose. This is
particularly relevant when considering the preservation of buildings or sites which
represent a history that is controversial or shameful, as it is important to balance the
shame evoked by this space with the benefits of its preservation.
The task of historic preservation is especially challenging in nations such as
Germany which have pasts that many are reluctant to remember. Germany is a
particularly interesting case, as it is now recognized as one of the most progressive,
economically powerful, and politically liberal countries in the world. Yet, no
comparably modern country is
The Scarcity Of Water Crisis
The water crisis has been known in the world for many years now, but as time goes
on people have not realized the greater effect this has had on the world. Most
people who know about the crisis do not know the regions it affects and frankly
seem to not care unless it affects them directly. The shortages of water have led to
health concerns and money problems in many countries. Both of these factors
correlate because if health problems go up so does the economic issue. India has
been one of the regions hit badly with the recent depletion of water. It has many small
cities that people have never heard about, that suffer much greater than this country as
a whole. The overpopulation in India is not helping solve the scarcity of water and

Rural cities in India, for example in Chennai, suffer from clean and properly
treated water, although the government may be helping a little. Factual evidence
states, although piped water facility in the rural regions almost doubled in past two
decades, there are still 171 million people in rural regions who use surface water as
the primary source of water (Kuberan 3). Water shortages are a far bigger concern
and if that many people suffer in small city, what about the rest of the country?
Although many rural cities do have water filter systems, the growing population is
not supported by the amount of water and they have to settle to different time zones
to get water. One city may not get water until midnight while another only gets it at 8
am. As stated in a poll, Water supplytiming was the biggest challenge faced by the
majority (94%) of the people (Kuberan 3). The timings of the water can make it
harder to survive because some people may need water during the day but may only
get it at night. The lack of any water in India is a major reason that India, compared
to many countries is suffering the most.
In addition to not getting any water, India suffers from commercialization and
privatization of water companies that are trying to make more of a profit on an
already low income country. Many companies are trying to set water at price to
Deities In Hinduism
Deities in Hinduism
The Supreme Being or God is brought about by Hindus as having different angles.
Hindus view Brahman in three titles: creation, preservation, and destroying. Hindus
connect these three titles with the three faces: Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the
Preserver, and Shiva the Destroyer. These three gods together frame the Hindu
Trinity. Though these are the three faces, they are of one being, which is Brahma.
The Supreme Being is called Brahma, Vishnu, or Shiva, but most commonly Brahma,
or Brahman.
Hindu religion is regularly marked as a religion of 330 million divine beings. This
misconception emerges when people neglect to get a handle on the imagery of the
Hindu religion. By Hindu sacred writings, living creatures ... Show more content on

cycle of resurrection, is achieved (called Samsara). Hindus believe that all life is
hallowed, to be cherished and adored. Hinduism is a nontheism; some may or may not
believe in a god (or goddess),but all believe that no god (or goddess, for that matter)
shapes the person s beliefs or actions. The god or goddess is simply a figure to pray
The Impact Of Advertising On The Portrayal Of Women
Advertisements has been around for decades, the main goal of advertising is to
intrigue consumers. Producers spend billions of dollars yearly to sell their
products. The aspect of advertising is to analyze and change the portrayal of
women. I recently viewed an advertisement from Glamour magazine November 2013
issue, which I believe indeed is viewed as offensive. According to my sources Beauty
and the Beast of Advertisingand Killing Us Softly 4 both by Jean Kilbourne, there
many forms of offense in advertisements. The name of the advertisement I found is
called Josie Marian which is named after an American model, actress and
entrepreneur and it is quoted What kind of nut puts oil on her face? with subtitles A
nut like me . The advertisement is a picture of Josie Maransmiling, and pointing both
index fingers towards her face. This advertisement can be viewed as offensive to
women because it illustrates that with this product you will be beautiful and perfect.
The company also quotes that there product is the best on the planet. Which is a
broad statement, and will entice women that it is needed. This essay will describe
how images, text, and settings of advertisements all work together to form offensive
messages. The image of an advertisement is the most important to sell a product.
There has been scientific studies that has proven women are shown almost
exclusively always as sex objects or housewives. The images are artificial, most of the
models seen in
The Narrator As A Narrator
In every work of literature, the presence of a narrator and a main character is
crucial to the development of the story. Narrators may appear mainly as a first
person narrator, a third person narrator or an omniscient narrator, among others.
While narrators are the voice that tells the story, the main character of a story is the
person whom the story is about and whose conflict is the core of the story. However,
sometimes it may be difficult for the reader of the story to identify whether the main
character is the narratorof the story or another character, who is present in the text. To
recognize the main character of a story, readers have to look for the character taking
action within the different events and the main conflicts throughout the whole story
and who undergoes a change at the end of the story. This... Show more content on

One element of fiction that allows the reader to say the story is more central about
the narrator is the point of view chosen by the author. The reader is able to access
the narrator s consciousness as the pronoun I , occasionally a we , is used throughout
the narration to speak from his subject position. For instance, on one occasion the
narrator thinks: Perhaps I was listening to them [the boys outside] because I was
thinking about my brother and in them I heard my brother. The mental processes used
by the author listen, think, hear illustrate his intention to introduce the reader in the
narrator s mind. The use of the narrator s point of view produces a more immediate
emotional appeal towards him, since the reader has complete access to his version of
the events, thoughts, emotions and feelings. This literary resource used by the author
lets the reader to hear and see what takes place in the story only through the narrator s
perception and thus, readers think the main character of the short story is the
Similarities And Differences Of African And Native...
African and Native American religions and there similarities
There are may religions in the world, but through out the different religions there are
many crossovers and similarities. Mattie Stepanek said It doesn t matter how you
pray. Just pray. All religions are beautiful and they all have one common belief.
There s something bigger and greater than us that can give us and take from us life.
It is better than the here and now . Religion itself means a belief in and worship of a
greater power (dictionary.com). By people believing in any kind of religion, it means
that similarities can start there. With so many religions having similarities, it might
be hard to distinguish from certain religions from another. Religions like of African
and Native Americans might not at first seem alike, but as you look deeper into their
religions and see they have similarities. These similarities are attributed as beliefs,
rituals, and history. Their growths and struggles might not have happened at the same
time, but both religions are still celebrated today.
Like in any religion the people have certain beliefs. In the african religions there is
no single religion. Researchers try to identify similarities in world views and ritual
processes across the african boundaries. African Religions are polytheistic; which
means they believe in more than one god. They believe in one overall god, but also
ancestral spirits. Most African religion s creation story reveal the creation of humans

Norman Maclean’s A River Runs Through It Essay
A Hobby or a Way of Life
Religion and tradition are two ways that families come together. However in Norman
Maclean s novella, A River Runs Through It, the Maclean family s devotion to their
Presbyterian religion and their tradition of fly fishing is what undeniably brought the
family together. Under the father s strict Presbyterian values, his sons, Norman and
Paul used fly fishing as the link that brought them closer together and helped them
bond with their father on a different level. The family s hobby of fly fishing was
started just for fun. It was a sport that was taken up every Sunday after church to

The only thing that even came close to the importance of church was fly fishing.
When he went fishing with his sons, this activity made him feel like he was given
the opportunity to refresh his soul. In fact, the sport appeared to be like a ritual
that almost became part of the family s religion. He believed that fishing in the
river was a parallel to life and that it was an opportunity to bring him closer to his
sons. Reverend Maclean would give the two boys strict lessons and would show
them the right and wrong ways to fly fish. He would even make them practice
casting with a metronome. To him this technique was seen as a metaphor for
fishing being compared to God s rhythm. Paul, the youngest son, had always
displayed his traits of independence and self gratification through his acts of
rebellion and selfishness. He would gamble, drink, and engage himself in all kinds
of trouble. Instead of casting to the four note rhythm that his father would always
preach about, Paul seemed to just move into a world containing a natural rhythm
of his own. In a sense, one could say that Paul marched to the beat of his own drum.
To Paul, fly fishing was a more than just a hobby; it was a symbol of his ability to
escape from the real world into a blissful world of his own. Paul was always
considered to be the expert fisher out of the two sons, since his discipline was
clearly portrayed through fishing and fishing only. Like Norman, Paul would never

America in his music. I have chosen two pieces written by him to analyze in this
paper; Fanfare for the Common Man (Fanfare for the Common Man, New York
Philharmonic, James Levine.) and Appalachian Spring (UMD Symphony Orchestra:
Appalachian Spring, Copland.) Fanfare for the common man was written in 1942
shortly after America entered into World War II. The piece reflects this, and aims to
appeal to the working class of America through its composition, and politics. The
piece was even premiered to the public during tax season to increase this effect
(Fanfare for the Common Man). The melody of fanfare for the common man is
centered on a repeating theme presented at the beginning of the piece. Additional...

There are places where there are long, flowing strings accomanying short bursts
from the brass secion, and others where instruments solos fill up all available
space. There are also places where fast trills acompany the melody, or even make
up the melody. My point is this piece doesn t limit it self at all. For much of this
piece, i feel as though i am up somewhere high in the mountains, so i would
describe the timbre as airy because of that. That being said, there are other places in
the piece where airy is far from my mind, such as around 31:20, which is much
darker and buzzy. The form for this piece was very hard for me to narrow down.
After listening to the piece about 3 times i decided to go with an ABCDEFG BA
HIJKL BHBA. The form begins and ends with a simple chord, being part A. Part B
is repeated many times throughout the pice and seems to serve as a bit of an anchor
for the story. The other notable section is H, which is the melody most assosiate with
this piece; simple gifts or shakers

Roper v. Simmons Murder Case. One late night, in 1993 in Missouri, Christopher
Simmons; a 17 year old boy along with two of his friends robbed a woman by the
name of Mrs.Shirley Crook. They broke into her home and the noise startled her
making her get up to see who was in the house. Simmons, who has recently been
involved in an accident with her recognized her face. Simmons became upset and
scared. The three young men left, but came back later to murder her. The three men
tied her up, took Crook to a bridge and threw her off it. They went on to tell people
about it; boasting about the crime they had just committed. Christopher Simmons had

her with duct tape and electrical cord, and threw her into a river. Respondent was 17
at the time. He subsequently bragged out the killing. He was taken into custody and
confessed. He was put on trial as an adult, convicted, and sentenced to death. But now
the rules is you can t give a minor the death penalty before their 18th birthday it is
unconstitutional.
MY THOUGHTS
I feel like Simmons should have received the death penalty because he was well
old enough to understand right from wrong. He also convinced his friends who
were minors also to do the cruel things. Although the average male brain doesn t
develop until he is 25, an the age of 17 you are past half way so you are able to
understand right from wrong.
It wasn t like he just broke in her house and killed her on accident; he tied her up
and threw her off the bridge, that is cruel and unusual punishment itself. Although
he was young, he bragged and boasted like it was something to be proud of. Or like
he considered himself a GOD. Mrs. Crook was a wife, and did not deserve to be

years of experience in step by step Second Life training for his students (p. 17 21),
which could be assumed that such findings could already be discovered in his
previous teaching experience, and the teaching activities might only be a training in
combining TBLT with 3D MUVE for the other three instructors. Moreover, to easily
organize hundred of students, instructor divided students into balanced groups with
mixture of students of both active/passive attitudes and higher/lower levels of
proficiency as a warm up activity at the beginning of class (p. 21), but with a large
cohort of students, it was doubtful to identify each student s Chinese oral proficiency
and learning attitude in such a short time. Furthermore, it was mentioned that with
the help of expert instructor for technical issues, the three novice users could only
focus on teaching virtually (p. 21). However, given the figure. 4 provided on page

The
Masculinity In The Terminator
What defines masculinity is the traits and values that are considered to characterise
the male gender at any given time. Consequently, the definition of masculinity
keeps changing as people change their views of what characteristics a man should
require. The biggest influence of the definition of masculinity is media. It is where
we receive information about what is normal and cool . Films and television shows
have a huge impact on how we view the world and they can alter our opinions on
different topics. On that basis, Film and television play a big role in how we define
masculinity.
In this essay I will look at how gender is constructed in The Terminator and how
cultural aspects influence the film.
During the late 20th century medias association to defining masculinity became more
visible. It was reflecting the current values of masculinity as well as to help shape it
into what it would become in the future.
American values in the 1970 s rapidly changed due to a variety of new political
movements. Two of these had a great deal of impact on the ideals of masculinity. Men
s Liberty Movement and the second wave of feminism helped blur the lines between
masculinity and femininity.
During the 70s various films and TV shows featured strong, intelligent females that

Amendment he gained a great deal of male supporters that began to identify with the
new president and what he stood for. This led to a radical new view on masculinity

The Influence Of Bach

primary character in the 19th century revival of Bach s vocal music. He performed
some of Bach s motets and showed Bach s music to many of his colleagues and

time the audience reacted very well, in terms of the music and its religious
significance. Reports of the perfoamcne circulated throughout Germany. This began
to transform the revival from a cult to a popular movement. The St. Matthew Passion

It is derived from the chic look of 1940s and displays short shaven hair on the sides
and back with short hair on the top styled straight in a neat way. It is advisable to
keep some length on the crown to be able to style it and to make the most of it the

Don t be confused about the differences between bridges, dentures and implants.
Bridges. A bridge is permanently cemented to natural teeth. The natural teeth that
anchor the bridge need to be stable and healthy in order to hold the bridge.
Dentures. Dentures are false teeth and can be removed. They are removable
appliances that replace teeth and gum tissue. They serve a purpose for people who
have extensive dental problems and for people with unhealthy gums or weak jaw
bones, but they are not for everyone. Dentures must be secured by an adhesive and
they tend to slip while chewing or talking. A complete set of dentures rest on the
gums.
If you have lost all of your teeth but aren t crazy about the idea of using adhesives
and the worry that comes with slipping dentures, strategically placed implants can
support a complete denture. These implant posts will help your jawbone to stay
healthy and strong.
Partial dentures. Partial dentures replace the look of one or more teeth and are
anchored to natural teeth by a clamp or wire. They can be removed for cleaning.
Dental implants are replacement teeth. They are surgically implanted into the
jawbone. The post of the implant bonds with the jawbone and creates an anchor for
the tooth. Single or multiple missing teeth can be replaced with

Personal Reflection Of Newspapers
I worked for 14 years at Random Lengths Publications and for eight years combined
at three community newspapers (The Siuslaw News, Central Oregonian, and
Springfield News). All four offices had fewer than 20 people on hand, and we were
all often called upon to fill in for others when they were overwhelmed or on a
break, or when they were sick or vacationing. At the newspapers in particular, I
frequently worked late hours and often was the only one in the office to field
phone calls. Further, I was the face of the company when I was working in the
field, easily recognized with camera and notebook in hand. Readers approached me
not only about the event at hand, but issues pertaining to my other duties or even
the issues of co workers. Whether in person or on the phone, I always listened to
reader concerns, and I assured readers that I or someone else on the staff would

Throughout the history of books, plays, and stories as a whole, competition over a
boy or a girl is a very common element that even occurs in real life. The aspect of this
competition provides parallels between two characters, entailing drama, humor, and

Shakespeares A Midsummer Night s Dream. The two main women of the story,
Hermia and Helena, compete over boys in the story, and that, as well as their different

quote shows the normal relationship between the two they are like the same person,

Lysander and Demetrius come into play. The friendship between the two may be
rocky, however it is a good example of a foil and is extremely entertaining. The
characters Hermia and Helena contrast each other in a number of ways to make the
play more interesting and comedic. Helena and Hermia during an argument pointed
out each other s physical differences and shortcomings . This provides a somewhat
comedic approach to the play. Additionally, it gives physical examples of how they
foil each other, making each other uncomfortable and feel insecure about themselves.
The two characters are falling for different people, meaning they have different
interests and tastes. However, confusion still occurs, with a mix up of who loves
whom, showing the author William Shakespeare made it so that the characters would
oppose and contrast each other because he wanted the play to be interesting and have
some clash that would excite the audience. That is why he probably added

Ducati has already settled successful racing teams both in MotoGP and Superbike;
HD would increase its bargaining power with suppliers; the current excess capacity

Observation Of A Psychiatric Mental Disorder
Pedophilia inside Church
Pedophilia is a psychiatric mental disorder that describes when an adult or an older
adolescent has a sexual attraction for young children under thirteen years old. In
addition, it is no longer a secret that pedophilia is part of the Catholic Church s
history from the beginning of the 1980 s, and while the Catholic Church knew about
this terrible situation did not take effective actions to solve it. Despite the fact that it
is a crime that has been happening for over thirty years, according to Roland
Flamini, a Washington based correspondent who specializes in foreign affairs, in his

John Geoghan was a priest in the Boston archdiocese who was accused of abusing
more than a hundred children over three decades (Renzetti 18). In the meantime,
after pedophilia had become a major situation spread throughout the world, the
question that arises is Why does pedophilia occur? There are two theories that have
tried to explain the cause of this issue: that is caused by the priest s practice of
celibacy or that is caused by the presence of gay priests. Even though these two
positions are strong opponents both are intimately related to the bad effects of
celibacy. To vanish pedophilia inside the Catholic Church the celibacy practice should
be banned.
Since the creation of the Catholic Church s, celibacy, which actually means the
state of being unmarried, was not a requirement for the priesthood so the priests
were able to be married (O Malley). This is still permitted in other religions and
other catholic churches as the Orthodox Church, for example. This conception of
celibacy practice came later on in the church s history, as a reflection of the virtue of
chastity. A virtue that was expected for the priests as men of God. Nevertheless,
celibacy always has been a discipline, not a doctrine, which implies that it is a
practice that can be changed in the future.
The conservative Catholic Church believes in the practice of celibacy. This ideology
was reinforced by Pope Benedict XVI when he stated

Revenue numbers have remained fruitful in spite of predictions theorizing downward
revenue trends. Conglomerates in the correctional facilities industry have maintained
their success by reaching up to 100 percent occupancy in their facilities through
taking advantage of the United States high crime rates. Kelsey Hollaren predicts that
the revenue for the correctional facilities industry is expected to grow at an 0.6%
rate annually until 2021, but legislative push back might interfere with these
projections in the future. Overall, the industry will not see a significant blow in
terms of revenue as long as the crime rate in the United States stays anywhere near as

The Nuremburg War Crimes
Social research is the scientific study of society. From conducting social research we
can gain a better understanding of society s attitudes, assumptions, beliefs, trends
and rules. Social research frequently determines the relationship between one or
more variables. Examples of prevalent social research topics include sexuality, class
issues and racism (De Vaus, 2002). When conducting social research it is extremely
important to follow ethical procedures in order to cater to the needs of the
participants. Ethics is an issue in social research because it doesn t allow for many
investigations and experiments to take place due to their secretive or unethical nature
such as the Facebook Mood experiment thus limiting the amount of research that...

The research should not harm the participant and at no point should they feel
distressed or uncomfortable, the participant needs to obtain the correct information
and at no point be deceived or lied to (Diniz, 2008). The participant needs to be seen
as an individual not just a number and needs to take into account that they are unique
and will respond differently to other participants. Furthermore, the participant needs
to agree to take part in the research on their own accord and must not be forced into
partaking. Social research and the experiments conducted to acquire the research
sometimes have ripple effects that can cause unanticipated consequences on the
community. The community and in particular community psychologists need to
identify an ethical dilemma that could result from social research when they see one,
understand the fundamentals of the predicament, and decide what a solution should

The Deer Hunter Film Analysis
The movie The Deer Hunter is one of the greatest works of Robert De Niro, John
Cazale and Christopher Walken set by the year 1978. The first hour of the movie
appears dull if the viewers are expecting tragic drama or Melodrama move. However,
after that, it thrusts one entirely to the war theater. It brings a thorough understanding
of the warin Vietnam and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It carries our mind
into the dark terrains of the Asian nation Vietnam where the American forces face a
brutal resistance war with the Vietnamese. It provides the viewer with the most gut
wrenching and disturbing examinations of the war until the end of the movie. In this
particular scene, the effects of PTSD on war veterans are shown through Nick....

Comparing Kellogg s Version Of Great Value Shredded
Wheat
a)While I stopped at my local Wal Mart to pick up a few things I did notice that one
of the items my children did like was the Kellogg s Frosted Mini Wheat s cereal,
and as I looked a little down the isle I saw Wal Mart s Version called Great Value
Shredded Wheat. As I took a closer look, for the first time in a while I noticed the
similarities in terms how the picture was positioned on both boxes. How the look
was different yet similar in an odd way. The Wal Mart version was indeed
presented as a version of the same cereal offered by Kellogg s, but at a lower cost
for those cost conscious consumers. They were placed in similar fashion further down
the isle, but not to much further. It had its own sections of Great Value cereal
products that
Mrs. Henderson s Classroom Observation
While observing Mrs. Henderson s classroom, I noticed that she used an approach
that most teachers don t. When I asked Mrs. Henderson why she chose this approach
she told me that originally she was supposed to teach 3rd and 4th grade math at the
same time. When the plan changed from her doing 3rd and 4th to just 3rd she
decided to continue with her plan on using guided math. While doing guided math,
students are working on math problems they learned in the lessonbefore and working
on increasing on their basic knowledgeof math facts.
Guided math is set up at stations. One station is where they work on a website of
basic math skills they should already know such as addition and subtraction. Another
station is where they learn the new lesson. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I did not like the cubby hangers because it seemed to be very messy and some
students are not very organized. Mrs. Henderson had two large tables on each side
of the room and a smaller table in the middle and a teaching area in the center of
the room. Mrs. Henderson had her desk in the back corner. She also had a carpeted
area where her large variety of books were. She did not have a time out area but I
thought it was unique that she had a water fountain in her classroom. Her
classroom did not seem to have a theme like most over classrooms do. Mrs.
Henderson dressed comfortable, however, it might have been because she was sick
for the days I observed. The classroom had a white board, an older television in the
corner, and a projector.
Observing Mrs. Henderson classroom gave me an idea of how I want my
classroom to be set up in the future and I learned how guided math worked. I
enjoyed the idea of guided math. The only thing I would have changed would be
not to do guided math every day. I would have done it every other day to get some
more variety in my classroom. I wouldn t want my students to get caught in a routine.
When I was an elementary student, I always enjoyed doing different things every

Christopher Marlowe s Dr. Faustus
Christopher Marlowe s Dr. Faustus is a complex character. Whether or not to feel
pity for the misguided scholar is a debatable issue, but he does seem to possess
some evil qualities. Some consider him a tragic hero, while others would argue he
better fulfills the role of a villain. But really, who is Dr. Faustus? Taking into
consideration the defining characteristics of both the tragic heroand the villain while
comparing them to the doctor leads one to the conclusion that Faustus does not
completely fit into either category, but rather belongs to the more specific genre of
the Elizabethan villain hero, which encompasses both his hero and villain sides.
The concept of the tragic hero was defined by Aristotle, and applies to many
protagonists in a variety of plays. According to Aristotle s definition, in order to be
classified as a tragic hero, the character must fulfill the following criteria: be born
into a noble standing, possess a tragic flaw which causes his downfall, experience
an unfortunate event as a result of this flaw, eventually acquire an increased sense of
self awareness, and be pitied by the audience. It is important to note that Aristotle
also argued that a man cannot be considered a tragic hero without realizing the cause
of his downfall (Perrine). Dr. Faustus only fulfills some of these requirements, and
falls short of the most important and necessary characteristics needed in order to be
classified as a tragic hero. Most importantly, Faustus seems

The Theory Of Economic Growth
CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW Abstract The theory of economic growth
sparked a revolution that has touched most societies across the globe. (Need to finish
the abstract) 2.0Introduction The aim of this original piece of research is to
contribute to the overall understanding of how financial development effects different
sources of economic growth alongside the effectiveness of fiscal policy. In
highlighting this research direction, a strong literature review is needed to indicate if
any gaps exist. As the topic is well researched and broad, it is important to streamline
this research into a specific yet important fields to identify these gaps. This literature
review will therefore investigate into the following key areas: the history of economic
growth, modern growth theories: exogenous and endogenous, financial development
growth and the effectiveness of fiscal policy towards reducing economic uncertainty
that ultimately affects growth. 2.1The History of Economic Growth A considerable
amount of theoretical and empirical literature emerged during the nineteenth century
surrounding the theory of economic growth. If one is to complete detailed research
into how financial development affects different sources of economic growth
alongside the effectiveness of fiscal policy, a meaningful and well structured
literature review must be presented. Due to the complicated nature of such a theory, a
historical frame work will be adopted to dilute its complicated nature. The
John Steinbeck Irony
In the story The Pearl by John Steinbeck the character Kino struggles with greed.
The author uses symbolism, motif, and irony. The pearl is the symbol in this
story, the irony is the death of Coyotito, and the number three is the motif. All of
these techniques lead to the theme or moral of the story. The pearl plays a big part
in the story. It brings down the family, changes Kinos way of thinking, and his
priorities. When Kino first find the pearl it brings him hope which is shown
through the quote In the surface of the great pearl he could see dream forms.
(Steinbeck 19) this shows how his hope that things will get better for his family.
The hope that he has is also shown when he is talking to everyone. He starts to talk
about his dreams and there are four of them We will be married in the church. He
spoke softly. (24) This is the first of his hopes. The second... Show more content on

The death is ironic for three reasons. The first is that the pearl that brought him
hope for his family ends up in the end destroying the family. The quote In the
surface of the great pearl he could see dream forms. (19) This shows the hope that
he had for the pearl. The great dreams that he could see for Coyotito. But the pearl
also brought grief, greed, and destroyed his family. The death came because of
both the pearl and Kino. Kino left to get a better price for the pearl, knowing the
danger of it. The second thing is that one of the hopes for Kino is that Coyotito
was going to be sent to school. This is ironic because one of his dreams was
crashed by another dream. ... And Kino heard the harsh click as he cocked the
rifle. (86) The dream of the rifle is the object that killed the dream of his son going
to school. It destroyed the family they already had. The last thing that was ironic is
tied into the rifle as already stated. This is ironic because he had a dream of his son
getting a education and then his choices lead to the death of his
Christine Arnie Sacrifice
In Stephen King s Christine, Arnie s obsessive love to Christine sets up a classical
rivalry love triangle between Christine, Arnie Cunningham and Leigh Cabot. While
the theme of love triangles are a relatively common and well understood among
literature, plays, and movies, King s version of a lovetriangle in the novelis somewhat
unconventional. The protagonist of the novel, Christine, is not a human character but
a 1958 Plymouth Fury possessed by vengeful spirits of the LeBay family. King
characterized Christine as a female that Arnie loves very dearly. Nonetheless, the
female personification of Christine makes the story intriguing because the love
triangle incorporates elements of powerful human emotions such as obsession and
jealousy,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King introduces the theme of love and love triangle before introducing Christine,
effectively avoiding confusion to the readers. The first sentence in the prologue
states that the novel is ...a story about a love triangle (King 1), clearly stating to the
readers that this is one of the main themes of the novel. Dennis, who is the narrator
of the quote, also describes Christine as Arnie s first and only true love (King 1).
Further solidifying the importance of the theme love triangles within the novel.
This makes it easier for the reader to accept the fact that Christine is part of the
love triangle as a person rather than a car. To prove a love triangle existed since the
beginning of the novel, King begins with Arnie and Dennis s first encounter of
Christine. With the prologue s setting of the theme in the minds of the readers,
King then introduces a female character to the story. While Dennis was driving,
Arnie said, go back, I want to look at her again (King 7). By addressing the car as a
female, Arnie acknowledges that the car is not seen as a car but rather an actual
person. His view of Christine as a woman instead of an inanimate object adds to the
love triangle because one character see s the car as a person, who can be added into
the love triangle. Within the prologue, love is shown between Arnie and Christine
the car. King writes, Arnie had fallen in love with a 1958 Plymouth Fury... (King 7).
This quote shows Arnie has fallen for Christine head over heels. This is yet another
sign of an existing love triangle within the book. These elements in the introduction
that personify Christine are what make the love triangle so effective for the reader.
Circle of Friends by Maeve Binchy also employs this tactic of introducing themes
early within the novel through character introductions. The theme of friendship is
introduced when Benny Hogan and Eve Malone
Essay about Notes from Underground
One word that has come to represent the mid 18th century Enlightenment movement
is Reason . The French philosophes believed that reason could provide critical,
informed, scientific solutions to social issues and problems, and essentially improve
the human condition. Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky s Notes from Undergroundis
one of the most famous anti Enlightenment novels for its rejection of these very
notions. Through this novel he showed what he believed were gaps in the idea that
the mindcould be freed from ignorance through the application of reason, and the
rejection of the idea that humankind could achieve a utopian existence as a result.
The story revolves around the thoughts and rants of an unnamed character that we

Despite his unpleasant attitude, the Underground Man does crave attention from
others and wants to be respected for his intelligence and knowledge. However, he
is completely unable to interact with people normally, a characteristic that is
perhaps best illustrated through his experiences with the officer who casually
pushes him aside one night when the Underground Man is looking for a fight (48).
He tries to bring himself to challenge the officer, but lacks the moral courage to do
so because he is convinced that if anyone were to witness him protesting and

becomes obsessed with the idea of confronting the officer, dedicating several years

clothing that he believes will make him and the officer seem on an equal footing in
the eyes of high society (52). Instigating a conflict is the only way that the
Underground Man knows how to somehow participate in life, and regardless of
whether or not the interaction he has is a negative one, it s something. Though it

William Isaacs Definition Of Dialogue
William Isaacs, starts with the same analysis as Phil Harkins: one of the most
fundamental struggles for any leader stems from the separation between who we
are as people and what we do as professionals. This separation is artificial. What we
do in private affects how we do in public. How we think does affect how we talk.
And vice versa. Isaacs defines dialogue less instrumental. The characteristic of a
dialogue is the open exchange of different perspectives leading to something new. In
dialogue problems get dissolved. Meaning flows in the relational field. Dialogue is
opposed to discussion. In discussion people think alone and use the conversation to
push their agenda or conviction. At its best, a skillful discussion serves the solution...

I should set the vision and clarify the team path throughout the course. I was now
forced to speak and express myself and retain the balance between seriousness and
feelings, expectations and challenges, opportunities and relationships. Leading a
virtual team is intricate compared to traditional team. It required you to read what
is hidden between the lines and the unspoken language. It forced me to change
from a regular silent voice in the team to be the spoken voice. The highest
challenge for me during this case study is to deal with vague communication . In
traditional face to face team you can read the members facial expression that could
give you a hint of their unspoken word, however in a virtual team the unspoken
language is difficult to be grasped. Furthermore, because of my tight schedule, I
found it very annoying to wait not only for hours to get a reply from the team but
sometime I waited many days to get a response for a massage or an email. This
was the most annoying thing as you don t know the other members situations and
excuses. According to Sheila Heen, Difficult conversations are difficult because
they can change the way people see us and the way we see ourselves, we want to be
perceived as agreeable, but we aren t always agreeable. And that s

developments during the Hellenistic period. I personally found that there are many
positive developments; whereas the least positive development I found were the
multiple wars that ravaged the Hellenistic civilization especially the Wars of the
Successors (322 275 B.C.).
Many economic developments came about during the Hellenistic period, historians
state that it was second in terms of magnitude to the Commercial and Industrial
Revolutions of the modern era. Several important events led to these economic
developments: firstly, the opening up of the vast trade area from the Indus River to

  • 1. Thesis Statement Essay Example Writing an essay on the topic "Thesis Statement Essay Example" can be a challenging task. The difficulty lies in the need to effectively convey the essence of a thesis statement while providing a concrete and illustrative example. Crafting a well-rounded essay involves not only understanding the intricacies of a thesis statement but also being able to communicate this knowledge coherently and persuasively. One of the challenges is striking the right balance between theoretical explanation and practical application. It requires a deep understanding of the components that make a strong thesis statement and the ability to translate that understanding into a clear and compelling example. Moreover, ensuring that the essay maintains a logical flow, with the thesis statement seamlessly integrated into the overall structure, adds an additional layer of complexity. Additionally, the task involves conducting thorough research to find a suitable and relevant example that effectively supports the thesis statement. This requires time and effort to sift through various sources, evaluate their credibility, and synthesize the information into a cohesive argument. Furthermore, expressing thoughts in a concise yet comprehensive manner poses its own set of challenges. Striking the right balance between brevity and thoroughness is crucial, as an essay that is too verbose may lose the reader's interest, while one that is too concise may lack depth. In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic "Thesis Statement Essay Example" demands a combination of research skills, analytical thinking, and effective communication. It involves navigating the intricate nuances of crafting a strong thesis statement and providing a relevant example that not only illustrates the point but also engages the reader. • 2. Savage Satire In Our Mutual Friend By Charles Dickens Our Mutual Friend, written in the years 1864 65, is the last novel completed by Charles Dickens and is one of his most sophisticated works, combining savage satire with social analysis. It centres on, in the words of critic J. Hillis Miller (quoting from the character Bella Wilfer in the book), money, money, money, and what money can make of life. In the opening chapters a body is found in the Thames and identified as that of John Harmon, a young man recently returned to London to receive his inheritance. Were he alive, his father s will would require him to marry Bella Wilfer, a beautiful, mercenary girl whom he had never met. Instead, the money passes to the working class Boffins, and the effects spread into various corners of London society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Silas Wegg: Some people might accuse Charles Dickens of being too idealistic and naГЇve when he talks about poor people. After all, some of the poor characters in his novels are incredibly beloved by readers (we re looking at you, Oliver Twist). But Silas Wegg is here to remind us that Dickens didn t necessarily think poor people were nicer than rich ones. The truth is that Dickens thinks you can find both horrible and angelic people anywhere, whether they re poor or not. Mr Boffin: Mr. Boffin kind of like Winnie the Pooh: he s bumbling and naГЇve, but also loyal and kind. The whole reason Old Man Harmon leaves his money to Mr. Boffin (and Mrs. Boffin) is because Boffin was always his most loyal and trusted servant. When we first meet Boffin in this book, we find him trustworthy because, quite frankly, the guy doesn t seem smart enough to deceive anybody. He s also pretty baldly honest he s even willing to admit that his wife is smarter and more stylish than himself, saying, These arrangements is made by mutual consent between Mrs. Boffin and me. Mrs. Boffin, as I ve mentioned, is a highflyer at Fashion; at present I m
  • 3. Taking a Look at the Russian-Ukraine Conflict The conflict stems from the result of the Government s decision to turn down the European Union proposed association agreement in 2013 and instead Ukraine s President Viktor Yanukovych accepted fifteen billion dollars in aid and other economic benefits from Russian President Vladimir Putin. For years Ukrainianshave yearned for economic reform that would seek to open new trade and economic ties with Western European countries. President Yanukovych s decision to reject the EU s proposal ignored the feeling of the majority of Ukrainian citizens and further solidified the sentiment that their government was strengthening ties with Russiaand not with the west. President Yanukovych actions spawned unrest among the Ukrainian people, forcing them to condemn and denounce their corrupt government and to question their Presidents legitimacy. This pushed an already fractured society into the streets of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine to protest their disapproval. In response President Yanukovych ordered riot police and military personnel to move into cities throughout Ukraine in order to squash any dissent. Clashes between opposition and the government slowly escalated over a two month period, in February the death toll for protesters in the city of Kiev rose into the hundreds. On February 21 members of the opposition overtook the capital and the Presidents Yanukovych residence, forcing him to flee to Russia to avoid charges by the opposition of murdering protesters. Russia
  • 4. Political Campaigns Funding for political campaigns requires lots of contributions. A campaign can receive an unlimited amount of funding. The matter is from where do they receive this funding and how do they receive it. For example people can donate as much money as they please to different types of committees called super Pacs. A super Pac is a committee that is able to raise an unlimited amount of money via the way of ads or cash without the candidate s direct involvement. These super PACs are legal through a loophole in some disclosure laws. According to the Federal Election Commission, an individual is allowed to contribute $2,700 per election to a candidate committee. An individual is also allowed to contribute $33,400 per year to a national party... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. The Six Day War Essay The Six Day War Introduction History records the 1967 Arab Israeli War (Six Day War) as one of the most memorable on record. Israeli forces delivered a stunning defeat to a coalition of Arab forces that greatly outnumbered the much smaller Israeli force. Victory was made possible by the initial aerial attack launched by Israeli Air Forces. The elements of surprise, stealth, Operational Security (OPSEC), precision planning and flawless execution were essential to victory. The opening aerial offensive has been called one of the most stunning successes in modern warfare . This case study will review the history, preparation, execution, and lessons learned of this conflict. There is much profit for those who will study this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jordan and Syrian forces were reinforcing positions. Egyptian forces were massing on its borders, blockading shipping lanes in the Strait of Tiran, and flying reconnaissance flights over Israel . Even the United Nations peacekeeping force was removed, a major victory for Arab forces . Nothing was left to protect Israel. She was on her own to navigate this difficult situation and mercy was not an option to expect from her enemies. Much of the nation feared the upcoming war. Elementary school students were tasked to dig graves in order to prepare for the massive casualties that were expected . National politicians remained very concerned over the nation s ability to meet the threat of combined Arab nations. The expectation of Arab attacks was anticipated and the mood was drear. It was felt that the demise of the nation of Israel was in the realm of possibility; that absolute destruction of those who had survived such horrible calamities at the hands of history s evil men.

Naval vessels were 90 vs. 22. Aircraft were 969 vs. 354. All were in favor of Arab forces . Israel had little hope in terms of combat power. Warfare skills would have to far surpass the Arab
  • 7. Curfew Research Paper Natasha was walking home from a friends house one Thursday night at around eleven thirty. Natasha heard these loud bangs and crashes against buildings. It alarmed her that something was not right. She began to walk a bit faster, but the noises crept up to her. Natasha was kidnapped that Thursday night and was never seen again. Perhaps this is the reason why our city council is making it illegal for teenagers to be out on the streets after 10 p.m. on weekdays and after midnight on weekends. I agree with the consideration of the 10 p.m. and 12 a.m. curfewfor teens because it is safer and it limits the opportunity for teenagers to make bad choices. Anything bad can happen in the daytime, but it is more likely to happen in the dark of night. There are a lot of safety issues that can occur during the night. An intruder has more of an opportunity to attack a teen in the dark. The darkest places in the dark such as dark alleys are very dangerous. A young teen could walk down a dark alley after midnight and get taken within a blink of an eye. It is also very simple for someone to carry a young teen behind a building and beat him or her half to death and possibly even raped. That type of violence can take a massive toll on someone. If this curfew law were to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teenagers are influenced by drugs, alcohol, and tobacco products everyday, particularly at parties. A teenager who begins drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana can soon lead to abusing the products. Not only parties can take place during the dark of night, but delinquents roam the streets, also. A couple of evildoers could take a young teen right under their wing, and brainwash him or her into thinking it is okay to do drugs and drink alcohol. Soon after the teens who follow in the undesirable people s footsteps can also lead to violence. It can risk a teen s life and also the family s
  • 8. Aging- Living Organisms Aging is a fundamental truth and an inevitable aspect of every living organism in the world. There are more than four hundred theories on how and why we age. None of them stands out as a single winner in explaining everything about aging but in fact, they are all interconnected and together they explain the possible process of aging. This assignment attempts to explore the research based avenues which could possibly help Mickey live significantly longer than Minnie, based on the assumption that Mickey and Minnie inherit the same genetic programme but follow different life styles. Different authors and researchers define aging differently. Aging has been defined by Balducci(2007) as a loss of entropy and fractality. Loss of entropy implies a progressive reduction in an individual s functional reserve, whereas loss of fractality implies a progressive reduction in the ability to coordinate different activity and negotiate the environment . Yet another definition which would encapsulate the wider meaning of the term aging is aging as a multifaceted phenomenon associated with decrements in cellular and physiological functions, increases in the incidence of numerous degenerative diseases and diminished capacity for responding to stress (Beckman and Ames, 1998). The theories on aging can broadly be classified as programmed and damage based. It is popularly known as the GOP, from its earlier nickname Grand Old Party. From the time it ran its first PRESIDENTIAL candidate, John C. Fremont, in 1856, until the inauguration of Republican George BUSH in 1989, Republican presidents occupied the WHITE HOUSE for 80 years. In 1856, at the first Republican national convention, Sen. John C. Fremont was nominated for the presidency but was defeated by Democrat James BUCHANAN. During the campaign the northern wing of the KNOW NOTHING PARTY split off and endorsed the Republican ticket, making the Republicans the principal antislavery party. Two days after the inauguration of James Buchanan, the Supreme Court handed down the Dred Scott v. Sandford decision, which increased sectional dissension and was denounced by the Republicans. At this time the nation was also gripped by economic chaos. Business blamed tariff reductions, and Republican leaders called for greater tariff protection. The split in the Democratic party over the issue of slavery continued, and in 1858 the Republicans won control of the House of Representatives for the first time. One Republican who failed that year was Abraham LINCOLN, defeated in his bid for a U.S. Senate seat by Stephen A. Douglas. Lincoln, the Civil War, and Reconstruction At the second Republican national convention, in 1860, a hard fought contest resulted in the presidential nomination of Abraham Lincoln. The

However, history can be complex and ugly, stained by war, genocide, and destruction. Therein lies a philosophical controversy: should these historical stains be acknowledged or buried? What role do these ugly histories have in the development of a society? Within the last century, no nation has been forced to confront these questions on the same scale that Germanyhas (Levinger 118). With a twentieth century historymarked by hatred and the abuse of power, National Socialism and Soviet communism, Germany s dark history lies only decades in the past. To many scholars, memory in this context is not simply information that is recalled and retold (qtd. in Till 11). Instead, it is the act of continuously finding and contextualizing history by means of physical space. Preservation of historical architecture is therefore unique, as it juxtaposes this history and memory with the surrounding modern world. This highlights the importance of preserving history through architecture, rather than museums, textbooks, and archives alone. By preserving the physical remnants of a city s dark history, residents and passersby are forced to confront this history nondeliberately. Moreover, according to Rudy J. Koshar, a preserved site must maintain some present value or purpose. This is particularly relevant when considering the preservation of buildings or sites which represent a history that is controversial or shameful, as it is important to balance the shame evoked by this space with the benefits of its preservation. The task of historic preservation is especially challenging in nations such as Germany which have pasts that many are reluctant to remember. Germany is a particularly interesting case, as it is now recognized as one of the most progressive, economically powerful, and politically liberal countries in the world. Yet, no comparably modern country is

Water shortages are a far bigger concern and if that many people suffer in small city, what about the rest of the country? Although many rural cities do have water filter systems, the growing population is not supported by the amount of water and they have to settle to different time zones to get water. One city may not get water until midnight while another only gets it at 8 am. As stated in a poll, Water supplytiming was the biggest challenge faced by the majority (94%) of the people (Kuberan 3). The timings of the water can make it harder to survive because some people may need water during the day but may only get it at night. He believed that fishing in the river was a parallel to life and that it was an opportunity to bring him closer to his sons. Reverend Maclean would give the two boys strict lessons and would show them the right and wrong ways to fly fish. He would even make them practice casting with a metronome. To him this technique was seen as a metaphor for fishing being compared to God s rhythm. Paul, the youngest son, had always displayed his traits of independence and self gratification through his acts of rebellion and selfishness. He would gamble, drink, and engage himself in all kinds of trouble. Instead of casting to the four note rhythm that his father would always preach about, Paul seemed to just move into a world containing a natural rhythm of his own. In a sense, one could say that Paul marched to the beat of his own drum. To Paul, fly fishing was a more than just a hobby; it was a symbol of his ability to escape from the real world into a blissful world of his own. Paul was always considered to be the expert fisher out of the two sons, since his discipline was clearly portrayed through fishing and fishing only. Like Norman, Paul would never arrive late to

Personal Reflection Of Newspapers I worked for 14 years at Random Lengths Publications and for eight years combined at three community newspapers (The Siuslaw News, Central Oregonian, and Springfield News). All four offices had fewer than 20 people on hand, and we were all often called upon to fill in for others when they were overwhelmed or on a break, or when they were sick or vacationing. At the newspapers in particular, I frequently worked late hours and often was the only one in the office to field phone calls. Further, I was the face of the company when I was working in the field, easily recognized with camera and notebook in hand. Readers approached me not only about the event at hand, but issues pertaining to my other duties or even the issues of co workers. Whether in person or on the phone, I always listened to reader concerns, and I assured readers that I or someone else on the staff would address those concerns in a timely manner. For example, when callers hadn t received their newspaperand the circulation personnel had already left for the day, I would deliver papers myself. With Random Lengths I e mailed issues of missed newsletters and reported the situation to the circulation department for follow up. A publications office environment is always fast paced with multiple ongoing projects. Additionally, it gives physical examples of how they foil each other, making each other uncomfortable and feel insecure about themselves. The two characters are falling for different people, meaning they have different interests and tastes. However, confusion still occurs, with a mix up of who loves whom, showing the author William Shakespeare made it so that the characters would oppose and contrast each other because he wanted the play to be interesting and have some clash that would excite the audience. In the meantime, after pedophilia had become a major situation spread throughout the world, the question that arises is Why does pedophilia occur? There are two theories that have tried to explain the cause of this issue: that is caused by the priest s practice of celibacy or that is caused by the presence of gay priests. Even though these two positions are strong opponents both are intimately related to the bad effects of celibacy. To vanish pedophilia inside the Catholic Church the celibacy practice should be banned. Since the creation of the Catholic Church s, celibacy, which actually means the state of being unmarried, was not a requirement for the priesthood so the priests were able to be married (O Malley). This is still permitted in other religions and other catholic churches as the Orthodox Church, for example. This conception of celibacy practice came later on in the church s history, as a reflection of the virtue of chastity. A virtue that was expected for the priests as men of God. The conservative Catholic Church believes in the practice of celibacy. This ideology was reinforced by Pope Benedict XVI when he stated

Whether or not to feel pity for the misguided scholar is a debatable issue, but he does seem to possess some evil qualities. Some consider him a tragic hero, while others would argue he better fulfills the role of a villain. But really, who is Dr. Faustus? Taking into consideration the defining characteristics of both the tragic heroand the villain while comparing them to the doctor leads one to the conclusion that Faustus does not completely fit into either category, but rather belongs to the more specific genre of the Elizabethan villain hero, which encompasses both his hero and villain sides. The concept of the tragic hero was defined by Aristotle, and applies to many protagonists in a variety of plays. It is important to note that Aristotle also argued that a man cannot be considered a tragic hero without realizing the cause of his downfall (Perrine). The protagonist of the novel, Christine, is not a human character but a 1958 Plymouth Fury possessed by vengeful spirits of the LeBay family. King characterized Christine as a female that Arnie loves very dearly. Nonetheless, the female personification of Christine makes the story intriguing because the love triangle incorporates elements of powerful human emotions such as obsession and jealousy,... The first sentence in the prologue states that the novel is ...a story about a love triangle (King 1), clearly stating to the readers that this is one of the main themes of the novel. Dennis, who is the narrator of the quote, also describes Christine as Arnie s first and only true love (King 1). Further solidifying the importance of the theme love triangles within the novel. This makes it easier for the reader to accept the fact that Christine is part of the love triangle as a person rather than a car. To prove a love triangle existed since the beginning of the novel, King begins with Arnie and Dennis s first encounter of Christine. With the prologue s setting of the theme in the minds of the readers, King then introduces a female character to the story. While Dennis was driving, Arnie said, go back, I want to look at her again (King 7). By addressing the car as a female, Arnie acknowledges that the car is not seen as a car but rather an actual person. His view of Christine as a woman instead of an inanimate object adds to the love triangle because one character see s the car as a person, who can be added into the love triangle. Within the prologue, love is shown between Arnie and Christine the car. King writes, Arnie had fallen in love with a 1958 Plymouth Fury... (King 7). This quote shows Arnie has fallen for Christine head over heels. This is yet another sign of an existing love triangle within the book. These elements in the introduction that personify Christine are what make the love triangle so effective for the reader. Circle of Friends by Maeve Binchy also employs this tactic of introducing themes early within the novel through character introductions. The theme of friendship is introduced when Benny Hogan and Eve Malone
  • 50. Essay about Notes from Underground One word that has come to represent the mid 18th century Enlightenment movement is Reason . The French philosophes believed that reason could provide critical, informed, scientific solutions to social issues and problems, and essentially improve the human condition. Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky s Notes from Undergroundis one of the most famous anti Enlightenment novels for its rejection of these very notions. Through this novel he showed what he believed were gaps in the idea that the mindcould be freed from ignorance through the application of reason, and the rejection of the idea that humankind could achieve a utopian existence as a result. The story revolves around the thoughts and rants of an unnamed character that we shall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Man s freedom of choice should not be controlled by anything even reason. Despite his unpleasant attitude, the Underground Man does crave attention from others and wants to be respected for his intelligence and knowledge. However, he is completely unable to interact with people normally, a characteristic that is perhaps best illustrated through his experiences with the officer who casually pushes him aside one night when the Underground Man is looking for a fight (48). He tries to bring himself to challenge the officer, but lacks the moral courage to do so because he is convinced that if anyone were to witness him protesting and speaking literary Russian, they would misunderstand and jeer at [him] (49). He becomes obsessed with the idea of confronting the officer, dedicating several years (49) to gather[ing] information about him, even taking a pay advance to buy clothing that he believes will make him and the officer seem on an equal footing in the eyes of high society (52). Instigating a conflict is the only way that the Underground Man knows how to somehow participate in life, and regardless of whether or not the interaction he has is a negative one, it s something. • 52. William Isaacs Definition Of Dialogue William Isaacs, starts with the same analysis as Phil Harkins: one of the most fundamental struggles for any leader stems from the separation between who we are as people and what we do as professionals. This separation is artificial. What we do in private affects how we do in public. How we think does affect how we talk. And vice versa. Isaacs defines dialogue less instrumental. The characteristic of a dialogue is the open exchange of different perspectives leading to something new. In dialogue problems get dissolved. Meaning flows in the relational field. Dialogue is opposed to discussion. In discussion people think alone and use the conversation to push their agenda or conviction. At its best, a skillful discussion serves the solution... I was now forced to speak and express myself and retain the balance between seriousness and feelings, expectations and challenges, opportunities and relationships. Leading a virtual team is intricate compared to traditional team. It required you to read what is hidden between the lines and the unspoken language. It forced me to change from a regular silent voice in the team to be the spoken voice. The highest challenge for me during this case study is to deal with vague communication . In traditional face to face team you can read the members facial expression that could give you a hint of their unspoken word, however in a virtual team the unspoken language is difficult to be grasped. Furthermore, because of my tight schedule, I found it very annoying to wait not only for hours to get a reply from the team but sometime I waited many days to get a response for a massage or an email. This was the most annoying thing as you don t know the other members situations and excuses. According to Sheila Heen, Difficult conversations are difficult because they can change the way people see us and the way we see ourselves, we want to be perceived as agreeable, but we aren t always agreeable. And that s

Many economic developments came about during the Hellenistic period, historians state that it was second in terms of magnitude to the Commercial and Industrial Revolutions of the modern era.
