I Will Never Lose Patience And If I Do, I Will Work Harder
I will never lose patience and if I do, I will work harder to achieve this valuable virtue. Being
patient with my athletes and keeping communication channels open, empathetic, and positive
with sound reinforcements and corrections will allow me to be more effective in the long run. I
will never allow myself or my athletes to get bored. Getting bored forces their concentration
outside the sphere to a daydream state which can be detrimental if hanging on the side of
mountain or engaged in a fast break in basketball. I will never allow myself or my athletes to be
overly tasked to a point where negative learning occurs or where frustrations rule the moment. This

SA is knowing and integrating the past and present with a forecast for the future and then creating a
sound plan of action to achieve another short term goal in the staircase toward a performance goal.
This requires the person to be also engaged in the moment with sound decision making as a
response to the feedback they just received in their dynamic environment. The ability to
concentrate, to focus on the moment with intentional effort, to be consistent, committed, adaptable,
disciplined, confident, calm, and composed are just a few of the characteristics required to achieve
this high state of situational awareness. Without situational awareness, the athlete or fighter pilot
will be behind the jet or lagging in their sport with poor performance aimed toward failure. The
ability to refocus and get back in the game with total concentration on the moment to regain SA is
one of the toughest items on the agenda as an athlete. The better one is prepared mentally and
physically for all aspects of the flight or the game increases their chances of maintaining this SA
and the degree of concentration needed for that event. Realizing that one can only control their
attitude, effort, and focus also plays into this complex, individualized ability to concentrate.

Ideal Man Essay
В« You would be so much more the man В» The play Macbeth published in 1603 by Shakespeare
presents the rise and the decadence, the decline of power of King Macbeth. After killing, in order,
King Duncan, his two chamberlains, Macbeth s general Banquo, Lady Macduff and her children,
Macbeth manages to secure his power until Macduff battles with him and finally kills him. In the
play, Shakespeare indicates features that make up an ideal man. Through various character s
representations and actions the reader can to discern Shakespeare s Ideal Man. By defining his
Ideal man and its opposites, Shakespeare introduces the common theme of masculinity. Firstly,
Macbeth symbolizes the anti ideal man, in other words the anti hero, of the story.... Show more

As a consequence a model of manliness should exemplify the ideal man Shakespeare wants to
define. For Instance, in the beginning of the play Macbeth is feminized by his wife Lady Macbeth
therefore he is not represent as the masculine character of the play. He is not thinking about
honour, keeping promises, ruthlessness and therefore bravery. We can observe this attempt of
making inferior and feminizing Macbeth by Lady Macbeth when she questions his masculinity in
act 1 scene 7: When you durst do it, then you were a men; and to be more than what you were, you
would be so much more the man. She knows that this argument is effective on Macbeth; as a result
he will commit the murder. On the other hand, Banquo is presented as the masculine character of
the play. As masculinity means for Shakespeare knowing the difference between right and wrong,
obeying conscience and knowing the moral, we can say therefore that Banquo is masculine, and
hence, the ideal man of the plot. Indeed, he is not tempted as Macbeth by the witches and by their
predictions. In conclusion, throughout the play Macbeth, Shakespeare tries and manages to give us
a definition of an Ideal Man for him. Macbeth embodies the opposition and Banquo the true
masculine, ideal man: The model should be loyal, intelligent, brave, cautious, clever, and obeying
the morality. Shakespeare s definition anticipates his era, these elements will come up later: we

The Keirsey Test
Who exactly would be considered a Guardian be in today s society? The image of a knight comes
to mind, armor clad and wading mindlessly into battle. How exactly does that apply to me, a 26
year old bookworm with a flair for the artistic? That was exactly the question I asked myself when I
received the title Guardian from the Keirsey temperament sorter(similar to the Myers Briggs Type
Indicator model). Faced with a very brief description and the horrifying news that 45% of the
population shares my personality (a unique snowflake, indeed) I began to dig into what it exactly
it means to be a guardian. The Keirsey test provides test takers with only two of four categories that
are generally used in tests of this type (with the remaining two

France In World War 1 Essay
France was a crucial part of World War 1. In 1914, France was an extraordinary force. France was
the first European country to move from a feudal state towards a nation state. One of the
geographic features of France includes the French Alps; it made it harder for other countries to
invade France so, they had to go through Belgium because it was a flat country. Francedid not

Handicap Each to His Ability
Kurt Vonnegut paints a picture of American society 120 years past 1961. Society has made a
gradual change, but it is a drastic one nonetheless. After nearly two hundred amendments to the
constitution, everyone is supposed to be equal in every way. Nobody was smarter than anybody
else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than
anybody else. (232 Vonnegut). In this landscape Vonnegut shows that people will never be
completely equal, and trying to force equality through controlling individuals will only create a
new class system. In the sixties, as today, equality was a frequent topic of debate. The Civil Rights
movement was rapidly gaining support, as was equal pay for women, protections of voting... Show

ruthless efficiency in enforcing the handicap laws. When Glampers kills Harrison and his
ballerina, it is done with cameras rolling. The television remains on until after the musicians
resume wearing their handicaps. Her message could not be more clear; the penalty for open
defiance is death. Hazel and the announcer represent the two classes who believe themselves to
be benefiting from this quasi utopian society. The announcer shows no apparent awareness of
the burden forced equality has put on others. Hazel, however, briefly does when she sees
Harrison killed. Hazel s feelings ought to be a continued, placid satisfaction that all is well. But
deep within her the sympathetic individual cannot be stifled (Mowery). Fortunately, for the H G

Stamp Act of 1765
Taxation without Representation
Ryan Vote
March 8, 2010
U.S. History
It can easily be said that the Stamp Act of 1765 was the beginning of the revolution for the
colonies of North America. Before the Stamp Act, there were other failed attempts to tax the
colonies by the British parliament. Each attempt to gain money from the colonies was unlawful
because there was a lack of representation from Parliament. The Stamp Act of 1765 was very
detailed and expensive for the colonists. The Stamp Act was the final act of taxation by Parliament
before the colonies started to fight back and seek independence from Britain.
Britain was struggling with a growing debt from previous wars. For example, the French and Indian
War that lasted from 1756... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Colonial lumber (a big export of the colonies because there was so much) was now only allowed
to export to Great Britain. Though from there it could be reshipped, the increased costs might well
destroy the trade (Morgan, 29). Moreover, there were also new wine duties and an abolition of
drawbacks on foreign textiles. The colonists were shocked and upset at the high taxes being
imposed upon them.
It seemed that all the colonists money making exports were being taxed. The old solution of
smuggling was no longer practical, for the risk of seizure was so great that the added cost of
smuggling would have the same effect as the payment of duties (Morgan, 29). The British Navy
residing in America made sure that every tax was collected, even for the smallest load. The
colonists found that the navy was extremely strict and un bending to even loads being sent over
rivers. Every ship was found by the Navy in need of a seize and detain method. The American
merchants started to fight back. They boycotted pilots who brought naval vessels into port, offered
mates and midshipmen higher wages than the Navy was allowed to pay, and raised howling mobs
(Morgan, 30). Afterwards, Parliament prohibited paper money as legal tender and the colonists
feared that they would have to go back to bartering.
A small outcry of unconstitutionalism started in Boston in mid 1764. James Otis published a
pamphlet of colonial rights arguing that nature and

The Cliffhanger In Walk Two Moons By Sharon Creech
I. Cliffhanger: a cliffhanger in literature is a device, borrowed from early serialized film, in which
a writer ends a chapter on a note of suspense, encouraging the reader to continue on to the next
chapter. What is the cliffhanger at the end of Chapter Thirty One?
In the novel Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creechthe author ends Chapter Thirty One with a
cliffhanger. The protagonist, Sal calls her friend and tells her Phoebe, we ve got to find her. and
Phoebe replies That s what I ve been telling you. (pg. 132). This is a cliffhanger because the
author stops the chapter in the middle of the conversation without the reader finding out what Sal
and Phoebe are going to do to find Phoebe s mother. II. Refrain: How does the refrain change as
Sal and her grandparents get to the Badlands? What do you predict will happen?
In the novel Walk Two Moons the author Sharon Creech uses the technique of refrain to develop
the mood of the story. This refrain: the sound of the wind was hurry, hurry, hurry, and at night,
even the silent darkness whispered rush, rush, rush appears for the first time on page four. She
repeatedly comes back to the sound of the wind telling her to hurry and rush throughout her
journey. The author uses this refrain to set an ominous tone as well as to create a sense of urgency.
When Sal swept on across South Dakota toward the Badlands the author changes the refrain the
whispers no longer said, hurry, hurry or, rush, rush. They now said, slow down,

Establishing Therapeutic Relationships At Risk Children...
Establishing therapeutic relationships is an effective way in facilitating positive change with an
individual. It encourages both, working professionals and clients to participate in a relationship
built on respect, acceptance, trust and empathy, to name a few. Building such trusting bonds, can
allow professionals to gain a better perspective in the challenges and experiences of at risk children
and youth. In my own words, the term at risk children and youth can be defined at those
experiencing far greater risks than resilience in their most critical settings, often making their
transition into adulthood difficult. Based on the content in Trouble Youth and Children, Chapter 5
by Brendtro and Shahbazian (2004), I will outline five key guidelines I, as a childand youth worker
would use in my work with at risk kids, when developing therapeutic relationships and extending
attachment.
Discovering Commonalities The professional client relationship impacts every aspect of a child s
wellbeing. When children or youth don t feel like they are known, they are less likely to engage or
invest in the relationship. Brendtro and Shahbazian (2004) discuss finding some commonalities to
lower stranger barrier . Finding shared interests, qualities or experiences with the clientele, helps to
build trust and develop a purposeful relationship. Children and youth love to talk about themselves
and share their opinions and thoughts. Many looks for an opportunity to meet others who share

The Book Of Romans By Paul
Introduction The book of Romans was written by Paul to present a basic system of salvation to a
church that had not receive the teaching of an apostle before. In this book, the basis of a
biblical worldview can be illustrated by Paul when it comes to explaining the natural world, our
human identity, human relationships, and culture. The Natural World With regards to the
natural world, Romans 1:20 clearly states that For ever since the world was created, people have
seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities
his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God (NLT). The
world was made perfect from God s hands and science taken the credit away from Him and given
it to Evolution other erroneous ideas. It goes on to say they wouldn t worship him as God or
even give him thanks. They thought of foolish ideas of what God was like and eventually
became lost. Instead of worshipping God, they worshiped idols and God abandoned them to do
whatever their hearts wished (Romans 1:21 24). People in this world are no different from
those in Paul s days. The idols people worship today range from people, statues, wealth, material
things, etc. It may not look like they bow down to those things but that s all their minds are set
on. Verses 25 32 is a perfect example of how people live; a perfect example of how we are not to
live. Human Identity Romans 3:10 18 says, No one is righteous not even

Slavery Is The Fourth Of July Analysis
Freedom, this essential term present in the vocabulary of all Americans, is one of the most
distinctive founding ideas that shaped the national identity. This idea of freedom undoubtedly
defines America s past and present identity. Whether it s the fight for freedom from the British s
oppression, the fight for freedom of African Americans from the institution of slaveryor the
unalienable rights of freedom of speech and petition, freedom is deeply embedded in the fabric that
makes up America. This term, freedom, never had a fixed meaning or definition. Instead, it has

The Expectancy Theory Of Motivation In Remember The Titans
Immanuel Wilder
19 July 2017
Dr. Creasy
BA 133
Remember the Titans The Expectancy Theory illustrates the mental process that employees endure
when making decisions while doing voluntary things. The theory describes that the effort will
determine the performance and the performance will help indicate the overall outcome.
Expectancy represents the belief that exerting a high level of effort will result in the successful
performance of some task, (Dr. Creasy PowerPoint). There are some advantages of the expectancy
theory. One advantage is that it emphasizes on rewards or pay offs, (Expectancy Theory of
Motivation, n.d., para. 5). In Remember the Titans, Coach Herman Boone, portrayed by Denzel
Washington, expects big things out of his high school football team. As the newly appointed
head coach and a black man, Coach Boone was faced with big expectations or else he would have
to face the consequences. Coach Boone established that his team would show tremendous effort in
the fall football camp at Gettysburg College. He set ground rules as he told all of his players that
they would leave the school by 7:29 AM and made them all wear dress shirts, ties, and a jacket.
Coaches appreciate the athletes that display the expectancy theory because they want more out of
their team. At Gettysburg College, All American linebacker Gerry Bertier, confronted fellow
starting linebacker, Julius Campbell and wanted him to put in more effort during practice and play
the right assignment. As

Rhetorical Devices Used In A Modest Proposal
In any piece of literature, consideration of the audience is key in assuring that not only the overall
theme, but also the desired reaction to the work is attained. In terms of analysis, identifying the
audience may lead to greater insight, as depending on individual traits and beliefs, responses can
vary wildly from one group of people to the next, and in identifying the audienceand their
respective feedback, one can hone in on the author s intended purpose of the work and judge
whether or not the work in itself is effective in communicating its point. In Jonathan Swift s
controversial essay A Modest Proposal, he achieves this successful conveyance by utilizing
careful appeals such as logos, ethos, and pathos in a prolific manner and in such a way so as to

Although the Irish seem to be the main object of description throughout Swift s essay, his
audience seems to center on the rich, land owning English elite. One may deduce this from his use

the Glorious Revolution of 1688 1689. With Ireland s population being mostly Catholic, and Swift
introducing the solution of greatly [lessening] the number of Papists (635) through his proposal, he

Mean Girls Is A Teen Comedy Film
Deciding what is most important in life is often a struggle, especially during high school. Mean
Girls is a teen comedy film loosely based on the self help book titled Queen Bees and Wannabes.
The main character is a high school student named Cady that just moved from Africa and has been
homeschooled her whole life. The American culture and society she is introduced to is embodied
by the Plastics, who are the most popular girls at North Shore High: Regina, Gretchen, and Karen.
The pressure put on Cady by society causes her to struggle to decide what her priorities should be.
Mean Girls criticizes the traditional notions of femininitythat are expected of women, as they are
not required for them to be successful and accomplished.
Consider the scene when Cady first goes to Regina s house, closer to the beginning of the movie.
During this scene, the Plastics collectively walk up to a mirror and start stating what they dislike
about their bodies. The fact that the Plastics, who are supposed to be the most popular and
attractive characters in the film, are pointing out flaws on themselves induces feelings of
superiority, because even they aren t perfect. The superiority theory as described by Rappoport
suggests that this is humorous because feeling superior to someone, even subconsciously, causes
pleasure and laughter. Putting down the supposedly perfect characters causes the viewer to feel
gratification as it may cause a boost of their ego. This scene is also incongruous for a

some of the money constraints most citizens are concerned about when faced with this radical

believing it is unfair to them since they already pay a high amount. They are also concerned
because since it is a government issued change, they do not believe it is fair to charge the public

Ambiguity of American Gothic Fiction

Ambiguity of American Gothic Anxieties
Since the 19h century, American Gothic fiction started to exist independently from the British type.
In fact, the latter was marked by its use of fantastic, externalized and metaphysical elements as
opposed to the boundaries of American Gothic fiction in which were expressed by historical,
internalized, racial and psychological characteristics. (Edwards, XVII) In Edgar Allan Poe s The
Raven, Fall of the House of Usher and The Tell tale heartand The narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym

conventions to an American setting which are the result of 19th century ... Show more content on

In many gothic fictions, Native Americans are the villains of the story, as white American
writers have projected their sense of evil upon the native inhabitants. (Crow 137) This negative
image towards this group is the reality of the 19th century anxiety of miscegenation, and the fear
of wilderness. A shadowed forest, the possibility of an Indian lurking in the dark ready to attack
and the unknown are features of the wilderness in which created boundaries from the civilized
town to the savage forest, from consciousness and waking to unconscious and dreaming. In
Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown, the feeling of dread and the unknown draws itself into
Brown s mind as he journeys into the gloomy forest. Brown, like most Americans, drew negative
images of Native Americans and their land of wilderness as he spoke: There may be a devilish
Indian behind every tree. (Hawthorne, 606) Moreover, when Brown reaches the witch meeting, he
sees Indians or powwow priests interacting in the evil ritual with people who follow puritan beliefs.
The hypocritical aspect of Goodman Brown s community is still seen as less demonic than that of
the Indians, as they are always portrayed as the lesser breed . Goodman Brown attest that the
natives who had often scared their native forest with more hideous incantations than any known to
English witchcraft (Hawthorne 612).
Conveyed as demonic and adversary creatures, Indians were a common

T.S. Eliot
How has Eliot used both conventional and Modernist poetic techniques to represent his Modernist
concerns?
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock and Preludes expresses Eliot s Modernist concerns about the
lack of morals and values in modern society through the use of personas within the urban landscape
and the urban society. Modern man s lifestyle of repetition of trivial tasks and the lack of
meaningful things in life is represented and emphasised through the use of alliteration, metaphor,
fragmentation and word choice.
The urban landscape is employed by Eliot in Preludes to demonstrate the isolated desertion of a
modern city. The use of repetition in the showers beat on broken blinds emphasises the polluted,
squalid environment and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eliot expresses his Modernist concern of the subtle, harmful nature of the urban landscape through
repetition and the metaphor of the yellow fog that rubs its back upon the window panes . The fog
is compared to a stray cat, crafting and cunning, attempting to get into the house, the intrusive
nature of pollution is emphasised by this. Prufrock is overwhelmed by the urban environment and
society and attempts to escape through his fantasy, we have lingered in the chambers of the sea
but the modern landscape proves inescapable and Prufrock is swallowed by the demands and
expectations of society, till human voices wake us and we drown.
The modern society is also used by Eliot to express his Modernist concerns of the lack of
meaning and values in life, the superficiality of society and the lack of individuality of the
people. In Preludes, fragmentation is used to demonstrate the broken views of the people of
modern society who can no longer see themselves in a wholistic way. Fragmentation is shown
through enjambment to create broken stanzas to disorientate readers, emphasising the confusions
of society. Eliot intentionally refers to the people of the city only as eyes and feet and refers to
the people collectively, one thinks of all the hand that are raising dingy shades in a thousand
furnished rooms and the people with all its muddy feet that press to early coffee

How Does Washington Irving Use Mythology
Several elements of mythology are present in the story, Rip Van Winkle , written by Washington
Irving. This story takes place in the Catskill Mountains where Rip Van Winkle wanders off in
hopes of fleeing his, shrew , of a wife. Rip encounters peculiar men who offer him a strange brew
and he finds himself waking 20 years in the future. Each of these elements, the setting, mysterious
characters, and the strange environments show the different characteristics of a mythological story.
As the story opens, the reader finds the setting to be on the Hudson River looking at the Catskill
Mountains. These beautiful mountains have their own magical air about them. Irving points this
out with wording like, every change of weather, indeed, every hour of day produces some change
in the magical hues and shapes of these mountains, and that wives from far and near use them as a

Irving lets the reader know that this is a very old village from colonial Dutch times, and that the
bricks have actually been brought from Holland. The reader is then introduced to the main
character of the story, Rip Van Winkle
. Irving portraits Rip as an easygoing man who is kind and
gentle. Rip was loved by all his neighbors , especially children. No one had a bad word for Rip
except his wife, who, taking advantage of his meekness, regularly nagged him. Her treatment of
him earned Rip sympathy from others. His only weak point was his inability to work for profit.
It was not that he lacked patience or perseverance; for, as Irving points out, He would sit on a
wet rock, with a rod as long and heavy as a Tartar s lance, and fish all day without a murmur, even
though he should not be encouraged by a single nibble. Rip Van Winkle and his wife are

Psychology Association, 2015). Stress, a silent killer, has become a typical occurrence ranging
amongst all generations. The American Psychology Association rates the top three causes of stress
as money, work, and familyresponsibilities.Though stresshas become more common amongst the
population, knowing how to cope seems to be less known. Through education and applying coping
skills, we can lead a strong and healthy lifestyle. According to a survey conducted by the American

There are many different methods that can be applied to reduce the tension. It is vital to reduce
and manage stress because stress can lead to high blood pressure, heart attacks, higher levels of
depression, and more. However, one of the most effective coping strategies you can complete is
finding emotional support. Emotional support can make quite the difference, 26% of those with
emotional support report that their stressed increased in the past year compared to 43% of those
with no emotional support. (APA) In addition to emotional support, focusing on yourself is an
important skill. Focus on making sure you get a healthy meal, having quiet time, or just time to
make yourself feel comfortable. Similarly, exercise can make you feel more at ease. (APA)
Exercise chemically affects the brain releasing good endorphins making you feel better. Some
exercises can reduce heart rate and blood pressure leading to less stress hormones in the body. (U

tension.
In conclusion, stress is a part of everyday life. There are many triggers that can cause stress that
can alter different aspects of our lives, much like money. These triggers can disturb our family

All About My Mother And Art Spiegelman
Pedro AlmodГіvar s film, All About my Mother and Art Spiegelman s graphic novel Maus, both
attempt to make sense of the ways in which trauma shapes families. Both texts portray trauma as a
divisive force between parents and children, however the expression of that division is variable.
While Maus portrays trauma as purely divisive, All About my Motherdemonstrates that trauma can
create as well as destroy familial relationships. The two texts reconvene on the idea that the
passage of trauma from parents to children serves as a means of recovery from trauma and pain.
In both narratives, distance between parents and children is created because of a traumatic
experience unique to the parent. In All About my Mother, this distance is manifested... Show more

Manuela s withdraw into a vague response and her unwillingness to discuss the trauma and events
which are so significant to her and EstebГЎn s lives highlights the distance created between parent
and child through this suffering.
Trauma still behaves as an alienating force in Maus. However, the distance between Artie and
Vladek is expressed in the form of Artie s guilt, rather than insensitivity, about Vladek s trauma.
While discussing his struggle to retell Vladek s story with his wife Françoise, Artie states, I can t

out of Auschwitz? ... of the Holocaust?... When I was a kid I used to think about which of my

Vladek indicates his lack of understanding, and therefore distance from his father. Spiegelman s
subsequent questioning of how he is to understand the Holocaust and Auschwitz, and his use of the
same sentence structure in voicing those questions demonstrates the parallels between these two
ignorances and underscores the causal relationship between misunderstanding his father and his

The Human Memory Process Essay
Memory is associated with the thinking again or recalling to the mind of something learned from
past experience. Human memory is an important part of human existence, but it is rarely
understandable. Memory is a mental time travel (Goldstein, 2011, p. 116). A memory can bring
back the feeling about situation, event and experience that occurred long ago. Memoryis used to
remember fact, acquired new knowledge and how to use new knowledge or skill in day to day life
(Goldstein, 2011). Sternberg (1999), defined memory as remembered the past experience to use the
information in the future. Without a memory a person cannot operate in present or think in the

strengthen the resistance to interference during the encoding process (Walker, Brakefield, Hobson
Stickgold, 2003). The finding then renewed it as the processes of strengthening a memory trace
after the first information is acquired. This process categorizes into two categories which part of
the process of encoding or of storage, or it as a memory process in its own right (Mastin, 2010).
Researchers divided consolidation into two specific processes, synaptic consolidation that happens
in the first few hours after learning or encoding and system consolidation where hippocampus
dependent memories become independent of the hippocampus over a period of weeks to years.
Research on neurological stated that the process of consolidation known as a phenomenon called
long term potentiation. Synapse increased the power in order to increase the total number of signal
transferred between two neurons. Potentiation defined as the process by which synchronous firing
of neurons makes those neurons more inclined to fire together in the future. Long term potentiation
is happens when the common group of neurons fires together so often and they become
permanently sensitized to each other. Since new experiences gather together, the brain produces
more connections and pathways, then re wire connection and rearranging its organization (Mastin,
2010)

War Destruction on Combatents in Kurt VonnegutВґs...
The effects of war are devastating for those who experience it. The wake of destruction left behind
by bloody conflicts can traumatize any onlooker; those who face the fighting firsthand are often
permanently affected by the horrors they witness. Frequently, combatants require special treatment
for the psychological torment that can follow intense fighting. Kurt Vonneguts Slaughterhouse Five
explores the harmful effects of isolation, imprisonment, and oppression through a soldier s
perspective. Sections of Vonnegut s novel take place during World War II: the bloodiest war
ever fought. The story follows Billy Pilgrim, a young man who is forced to fight overseas
despite the rough conditions he will face. Billy joins his regiment as it [is] in the process of
being destroyed by Germans (Vonnegut 40), and Vonnegut s description of Billy accentuates his
lack of preparation. He is given very little combat training, ill fitting clothes, and is not even
supplied with a firearm (Vonnegut 41). From the beginning, Billy is isolated from the other
troops in a way because he is not as well prepared as the others. During a scouting mission after
the devastating Battle of the Bulge, Billy is separated from his group and left with another scout,

The Flaws Of The Commission
Recommendations The flaws of the commission are extensive, but there is also a well structured
base to build on for future endeavors. Woven into the fabric of the commission are the makings of a
potentially successful Reconciliation commission. With a slight tweaking to the core premise, a
few assorted changes to the logistics and a less meddling governmentthe commission could stand a
chance at healing the wounds. As mentioned previously, the South Korean Truth and reconciliation
council was made in the image of the South African Truth and Reconciliation council. The
commission wished to place an emphasis on finding out the historical proceedings in a concise and
thorough manner. However, having been met with a slew of bureaucratic hurdles, the commission
soon began to shift its tactics in a manner that would allow them to continue their search but not
smirch the name of the South Korean Government. Without accepting responsibilities for much of
the atrocities committed during the time, the Korean government began to take the form of the
truth as defined by the government commission. If the main goal was truly to facilitate the process
of healing in South Korea, then the most potentially successful format for the commission would
have been that of an Reparation and restitution commission seeing as many of the misdoings were
in fact committed by the government onto the people, causing tangible damage that could be
potentially repaired. An Apology

The Challenges Of Colonialism And Imperialism In Nigeria
Imperialism has set our country back half a century. When the British came in in 1910 and
colonized our country, Nigeria, it changed everything. Our education system was negatively
affected. Our country became extremely controversial in a religious aspect. All in all, if the British
did not come and colonize our home, our country would be at a much better place today.
If we were to receive this grant from the UN, it would be more than helpful to our country.
Education would drastically improve if we received the grant. New schools and facilities would
be built, more qualified teachers would be hired, and a better school environment would be
established for the safety of the kids. As a country, our economy has been on a major downfall. In
order to help fix this, the grant is needed to help rebalance the economy. We must empower more
entrepreneurs and producers to create products that the our people need and desire. Finally, the last
reason we are in dire need of these money is to help end corruption. The corruption in our country
is our biggest problem. The corruption has led to significant poverty and an exceptionally low
unemployment rate. With the money we would invest into the government to try and create more
transparency with the our people. Overall, our country is at a place where a grant would be crucial
to our future development. We believe that this grant of money will push this country to a brighter
future.

Healthcare Coverage Is Not Affordable
Vibina Koruth
English 3
Mr. Tracy
6 March 2015
Junior Thesis Did you know that healthcare coverage is not affordable to everyone that lives in the
United States? For most people affordable healthcare is not exactly affordable anymore which has
eventually left them no alternative but to not carry health insurance coverage. Individuals that do
not carry health insurance coverage will open themselves up for massive health bills if they get
sick, but at this point those bills look more affordable than the cost of health insurance coverage. All
the signs point to the expensiveness of healthcare coverage and that most individuals cannot afford
to get it especially if their income revenue stream isn t very high. Mortgages, utility bills, possibly
car insurance, social security, loan payments and various other types of bills could leave most
individuals, depending on the financial situation, with not much money left to pay for the health
insurance. The absence of healthcare coverage in the United States exemplifies the financial
hardships for families in America.
One of the key aspects that lead to the financial hardships of Americans when it comes to
healthcare coverage is the expensiveness of the coverage. The expensiveness of the coverage can be
attributed to quite a few factors that directly and indirectly raise the cost. The number and type of
technology used in hospitals, clinics, and other medical institutions absolutely affect the rising cost
in healthcare (Ferlie

Examples Of Power In The Tempest
Shakespeare s retirement play The Tempest mainly focuses on the used of power; the will to
control over others. Power seems to be the main theme throughout the play as it is manifested by
different characters either in a good way or as the case may be, bad. The protagonist Prospero is
the main character that holds majority of the power, both magical and political. Tempest, which
was written in the early 1600s, shows how characters like Prospero, Antonio and even Caliban plus
others exert power over the weak and the willing. The significance of the different elements of
power; Political power, Magical powers and most of all, the Power of Love is examined in
Shakespeare s The Tempest. Prospero, the Duke of Milanis in a power tussle with his brother

he neglected his duties as the Duke to pursue his quest for more power. The Government I cast

The null hypothesis will be that the test tubes with an increase in temperature, pH values, enzyme
concentrations, and substrate concentration will have a very small color change or no color change
at all. The alternate hypothesis is that the test tubes containing an increase in temperature, pH
values, enzyme concentrations, and substrate concentration will all have an intense color change;
the more the change, the more intense the color change will be.
Material and Methods
The use of multiple test tubes and Parafilm was used for each experiment. Catechol, potato juice,
pH 7 phosphate buffer, and stock potato extract 1:1 will be used to conduct the following
experiments: temperature effect on enzyme activity, the effect of pH on enzyme action, the effect

because yes he is asking for advice. however, he is still listening and doing what the actually head

Adult Relationships And Same Sex Marriage
It is unclear what percentages of adult relationships are polyamorous in America, as there is limited
research with this population. However, it is evident that many Americans find this alternative to
monogamy beneficial. When compared to monogamous individuals, polyamorous individuals
experience greater levels of intimacy in their relationships (Morrison, Beaulieu, Brockman,
Beaglaoich, 2013). Per the research, polyamory is potentially a fulfilling alternative to traditional
monogamous relationships for those who choose polyamory in place of monogamy.
Historically, there is limited evidence for cultures that that relied on same sex marriage as a primary

marriage and gay affirming communities in which same sex relationships and same sex marriages

Descriptive Essay On Sighing Trees
The Sighing Trees The second of two back doors is white with black accents and a big window
in the top half. As you push the door open you hear an array of screeches and clicks. Don t let the
dog out! Mother shouts before you walk out the door. Closing itself when you let go of it, the
door shuts with a slam. You gently set your foot down onto the step of the small, cement, back

triangular and jagged, then onto the ground, you begin to acclimate to the temperature. Each
step makes the same soft thunk as the first you heard. The shadow of the overhanging roof lets

your skin, its rays kissing your rosy red cheeks. Then you begin to notice the sound of the grass,
brushing against the bottom of your blue rainboots, and the crunching of acorns and twigs
underfoot. Crunch. Pop. Crack. A familiar sound. Your attention turns slightly to your right where
you find there is a small, dirt path, barely noticeable behind the fingers of the shrubs and saplings
on either side of it. Pushing aside some of the leafy, pliable branches in your way, you start down
the path. Your lungs fill with a rich, earthy smell. A good smell. It s the smell of mother nature s

Crete Battle Essay
What caused the battle?
The introduction of aircraft to the war gave countries the abilities to do things never thought
possible. Sending paratroopers to the ground from the sky, and high accuracy target bombing
were only a couple of things that the introduction of aircraft brought. However, in order to use
these aircraft, a place for takeoff and landing was a necessity. This is where the island of Crete, in
Greece, had an advantage. As Crete was the largest of the islands in the Mediterranean, it would be
the perfect location for raids into the Balkans and Southern Europe, along with being a base for
tactical air support in Greece and the Balkans. The harbor was also the largest in the

Mccaslin Interruptions Poem
Interruptions and the Mindful Moment: McCaslin s Interruptions
In a busy and production oriented society, interruptions are generally seen as irritating, rude and
unnecessary moments that should be avoided at all costs. However, in Interruptions , Susan
McCaslin wants the reader to consider that living in the gaps between thought and conversation, in
the interruptions of life, is how one can often see what is truly happening in the present around us.
Using the rhetorical pattern of contrast as well as direction, the unexpected, natural imagery and
words about language, McCaslin seeks to demonstrate the value of interruptions by understanding
them as the gaps in life where the opportunities for mindfulness and creativity lie.
The first stanza of McCaslin s Interruptions begins by giving the reader the direction that is the
backbone of the poem s theme: in other words, the reader must grow accustomed to the
interruptions in life so that the chance for mindfulness can occur. She then uses an unexpected
subversion and natural imagery to begin building the contrasts where the interruptions in the poem
develop. McCaslin directs the reader to Get used to them , beginning a series of commands to the
reader to accept interruptions in every day life. She subverts the idea of a traditional male
Abrahamic god, transforming the God she s discussing into a woman. This unexpected turn disrupts
the poem itself, an example of the interruptions she s heeding the reader to [g]et

encourage men and women of the Race who are so far behind the white men in this special line.
I made up my mind to try, I tried and was successful. But I shall never be satisfied until we have

The internet is perhaps one of mankind s greatest milestones. It connects people from all over the
world, thus eradicating traditional boundaries of land and sea. Along with this connectivity comes
the availability of information and instant communication. This sort of digitalization of human

with each other and share aspects of their lives constantly. A popular form of self expression
present across all social media platforms is the selfie : an informal photograph of oneself taken by

sense of fascination and perhaps envy prevalent in the Kardashian s popularity. People watch
because in a way they are vicariously living and experiencing a life of luxury through the

Images And Images For The Gower Birds Hospital
Image
Firstly, we must use copyright free pictures in our design (Hand and Middleditch, 2013:280).
Next, according to Hand and Middleditch (2013:194), imagery is an significent element in
modern media. Media productions need to rely on video and still images to attract their audience s
attention. As for the Gower Birds Hospital, the images and visuals still have some imperfections
and need to make changes immediately in order to make customers easier to understand and
remember the home page. Hand and Middleditch ( 2013:201) hold the point that most people pay
more attention on images than words. There are too many old pictures in the GBH s graphic design,

Colour
The existing color of Gower Bird Hospital is green which show the central theme of Gower Bird
Hospita, protecting environment and the harmony between human and nature. Green is a very
down to earth color which represent new beginnings and growth. It also represent renewal and
abundance. Brighter greens are more energizing and vibrant, while olive greens are more
representative of the natural world (Chapman, 2010). Therefore, the olive green will be the
main colour of most design. Light blues are often relaxed and calming while bright blues can be
energizing and refreshing. Dark blues can be used in corporate sites or designs where strength
and reliability are significant (Chapman, 2010). Therefore, blue also will be used in website
design, which can match the theme of Hospital. What s more, according to the Complementary
color scheme, the high contrast of complementary colors can give audiences a vibrant look
(Tigercolor, 2014). Red and green are complementary colors. In design, red can be a great color to
use when power or passion want to be expressed in the design (Chapman, 2010). Therefore, red can
be used in some important part of our visual design which can draw more attention.
In addition, the colour model in digital media is different from printing. All of those digital media
need to use RGB mode in the design process while the design of newsletter need to use CMYK
mode (Cohen, 2009:73 75).

Literary Criticism Of Rusalka
A masterpiece of operatic literature, AntonГn DvoЕ™ГЎk s Rusalka steadily rises to international
recognition and popularity. With its lush melodies, beautiful orchestration, and poetic text, Rusalka
continues to transcend the idea that it exists strictly as a Czech opera unable to be understood by
foreign audiences. Though it remains the only of DvoЕ™ГЎk s operas to receive international
fame (and is arguably the greatest), the romanticism and universal appeal of the story aide in
securing a place for DvoЕ™ГЎk in history as not only a great orchestral composer, but also a
gifted composer of opera. Rusalka tells the story of a water nymph (Rusalka) who falls passionately
in lovewith a humanprince. She makes a deal with a witch to become a human herself, so that she
might experience love. However, this compromise comes at a price. First, Rusalka will not be
able to use her voice to communicate with humans. Second, if she fails to win the Prince s
affections, she will be pulled back by the water, forever cursed to exist as a bludiДЌka, or will o the
wisp, a soulless light moving erratically over the water and luring men to their deaths in the
swamps. Though Rusalka is initially successful in winning the Prince s love, he grows
increasingly frustrated with her inability to speak to him and is seduced by a foreign princess.
Rusalka, betrayed, returns to the water to accept her fate. As Rusalka laments her fate, the witch
returns with a knife to tell her she can avoid a soulless

The 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa
Introduction
When South Africa won the lobby for hosting the 2010 FIFA world cup, news went viral about it
and almost reached everyone in the world. It was a great moment of joy and celebrations
especially in the African countries. This jubilant joy and pomp celebrations might have been
because of the continent s attempts in bidding to host this mega sport event without success. Many
people around the world had their eyes fixed on South Africa, some questioning the ability of the
country to host such a famous activity in the world s calendar. Some people saw fun; others saw

Integrity and competition are key aspects in the business field; they measure the level of ethics and
determination in a company.
* Economic development
Despite being the gateway to Africa, South Africa still has some economic challenges. Poor
infrastructure, low tourist attraction, and inadequate capital investment among others, are still big
headache for this country (Grundling and Steynberge 2010). By FIFA accepting to take this major
football event there, FIFA and the South African government were targeting to help spur economic
development in that part of the world.
Challenges
Like any other project, the 2010 FIFA world cupin South Africa faced many challenges. These
challenges, ranging from political to social, interfered with the planning of the event in one way or
another. Racial segregation, poor transport network, security threats and developing economy
challenged the project timeline in varied ways. To understand fully the implication of these
challenges, the report segments them as:
* Insecurity
Security is of prime concern and takes first priority whenever an event is planned and executed.
With the proliferations of the terror advancement throughout the world, the organizers of the 2010
FIFA world cupwere more concerned with security than any other thing. The porosity in the South
African security system posed a great challenge. With the high number of people expected to attend
the event, nationals and

Teaching Experience And Acceptance Of Educational...
Teaching experience and acceptance of educational technologies, self efficacy and alienation:
Literature Review The relationship between teaching experience, self efficacy and alienation has
received attention from a number of angles in the research literature. Likewise the factors affecting
the acceptance of educational technologies have also been investigated, but no study yet examines
all factors concurrently. In reviewing the literature it is important to note that these are not
isolated factors; for example, a factor contributing to self efficacy may be a low level of
alienation, and the reverse may also be true. This review will consider literature grouped according

The Pros And Cons Of The Fourth Amendment
The Fourth Amendment, a portion of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December fifteenth
seventy ninety one. The Bill of Rights introduces the Fourth Amendment as The right of the
people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and
seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by
Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things
to be seized. (The National Constitution Center, 2016) Not only does this right protect the people
as well as the police officers from perilous situations it also puts limitations in place by removing a
small amount of power from the police. For the police to search and seize people, their property, or
their homes they must first obtain a warrant. Even though there is a great deal of circumstances
where warrants are not required, most searches and seizures will require a warrant that is often
cleared by a judge first. For the judge to justify the search or seizure law enforcement must show
probable cause. American citizens often feel secure when learning about the exclusionary rule in
addition to the Fourth Amendment because it suppresses the United States government s control;
Still, there have been times when American citizens were not thoroughly protected by the Fourth
Amendment. The Exclusionary Rule The Supreme Court introduced the exclusionary rule in 1914

Semiotic Deconstruction Analysis Of Calvin Klein Jeans
Calvin Klein is an American multinational fashion company founded in 1968. Since their inception,
they have always been known as a top end designer brand, branching out to related clothing
markets. Calvin Klein is notorious with creating brands within their chosen product. For example
Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein Underwear s are brands in themselves. However they have
also branched out into other related markets providing products such fragrances, sportswear,
watches and jewellery. Calvin Klein unlike contemporary top end branddesigner have been very
controversial in their past effort to market their brand. For example in 2010, Calvin Klein released

However prior to this it is important to discuss the fact that we are now living in an era of an
attention economy. In today s age, consumers are overwhelmed by the paradox of choice so many
choices to make, and no easy way to distinguish among the offerings (Davenport, Harris 2009).
Furthermore, since consumers are bombarded with advert offering its important to avail of
whatever attention a brand gets. Thus an attention economy is an approach of management that
treat human attention as scare resources and applies an economic theory to make use of that
attention; hence the ability of the brand to channel attention creates great value. A semiotic
description is consequently a vital means by which we might begin to understand how an image
captivates our imaginations. The founder of modern linguistics, Ferdinand de Saussure, argued that
at one point in time language would be part of a comprehensive science of signs, which would
study the production of meaning (Culler, 2001). In other words, the appeal of images comes
through the stories or meanings that are being depicted, which eventually leads to an emotion or
experience being felt by people in an attention economy. To greater understand a semiotic analysis
I will now provide an in depth look into my Calvin Klein watch advert. To display the theory
behind my advert I will be exploring the use of denotations, connotations found in my advert. As
well as describing various rhetorical styles

  • 2. I Will Never Lose Patience And If I Do, I Will Work Harder I will never lose patience and if I do, I will work harder to achieve this valuable virtue. Being patient with my athletes and keeping communication channels open, empathetic, and positive with sound reinforcements and corrections will allow me to be more effective in the long run. I will never allow myself or my athletes to get bored. Getting bored forces their concentration outside the sphere to a daydream state which can be detrimental if hanging on the side of mountain or engaged in a fast break in basketball. I will never allow myself or my athletes to be overly tasked to a point where negative learning occurs or where frustrations rule the moment. This is a potential area for physical injury or a hit on their confidence and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... SA is knowing and integrating the past and present with a forecast for the future and then creating a sound plan of action to achieve another short term goal in the staircase toward a performance goal. This requires the person to be also engaged in the moment with sound decision making as a response to the feedback they just received in their dynamic environment. The ability to concentrate, to focus on the moment with intentional effort, to be consistent, committed, adaptable, disciplined, confident, calm, and composed are just a few of the characteristics required to achieve this high state of situational awareness. Without situational awareness, the athlete or fighter pilot will be behind the jet or lagging in their sport with poor performance aimed toward failure. The ability to refocus and get back in the game with total concentration on the moment to regain SA is one of the toughest items on the agenda as an athlete. The better one is prepared mentally and physically for all aspects of the flight or the game increases their chances of maintaining this SA and the degree of concentration needed for that event. Realizing that one can only control their attitude, effort, and focus also plays into this complex, individualized ability to concentrate. • 3. Ideal Man Essay В« You would be so much more the man В» The play Macbeth published in 1603 by Shakespeare presents the rise and the decadence, the decline of power of King Macbeth. After killing, in order, King Duncan, his two chamberlains, Macbeth s general Banquo, Lady Macduff and her children, Macbeth manages to secure his power until Macduff battles with him and finally kills him. In the play, Shakespeare indicates features that make up an ideal man. Through various character s representations and actions the reader can to discern Shakespeare s Ideal Man. By defining his Ideal man and its opposites, Shakespeare introduces the common theme of masculinity. Firstly, Macbeth symbolizes the anti ideal man, in other words the anti hero, of the story.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a consequence a model of manliness should exemplify the ideal man Shakespeare wants to define. For Instance, in the beginning of the play Macbeth is feminized by his wife Lady Macbeth therefore he is not represent as the masculine character of the play. He is not thinking about honour, keeping promises, ruthlessness and therefore bravery. We can observe this attempt of making inferior and feminizing Macbeth by Lady Macbeth when she questions his masculinity in act 1 scene 7: When you durst do it, then you were a men; and to be more than what you were, you would be so much more the man. She knows that this argument is effective on Macbeth; as a result he will commit the murder. On the other hand, Banquo is presented as the masculine character of the play. As masculinity means for Shakespeare knowing the difference between right and wrong, obeying conscience and knowing the moral, we can say therefore that Banquo is masculine, and hence, the ideal man of the plot. Indeed, he is not tempted as Macbeth by the witches and by their predictions. In conclusion, throughout the play Macbeth, Shakespeare tries and manages to give us a definition of an Ideal Man for him. Macbeth embodies the opposition and Banquo the true masculine, ideal man: The model should be loyal, intelligent, brave, cautious, clever, and obeying the morality. Shakespeare s definition anticipates his era, these elements will come up later: we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Keirsey Test Who exactly would be considered a Guardian be in today s society? The image of a knight comes to mind, armor clad and wading mindlessly into battle. How exactly does that apply to me, a 26 year old bookworm with a flair for the artistic? That was exactly the question I asked myself when I received the title Guardian from the Keirsey temperament sorter(similar to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator model). Faced with a very brief description and the horrifying news that 45% of the population shares my personality (a unique snowflake, indeed) I began to dig into what it exactly it means to be a guardian. The Keirsey test provides test takers with only two of four categories that are generally used in tests of this type (with the remaining two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Handicap Each to His Ability Kurt Vonnegut paints a picture of American society 120 years past 1961. Society has made a gradual change, but it is a drastic one nonetheless. After nearly two hundred amendments to the constitution, everyone is supposed to be equal in every way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else. (232 Vonnegut). In this landscape Vonnegut shows that people will never be completely equal, and trying to force equality through controlling individuals will only create a new class system. In the sixties, as today, equality was a frequent topic of debate. The Civil Rights movement was rapidly gaining support, as was equal pay for women, protections of voting... Her message could not be more clear; the penalty for open defiance is death. Hazel and the announcer represent the two classes who believe themselves to be benefiting from this quasi utopian society. The announcer shows no apparent awareness of the burden forced equality has put on others. Hazel, however, briefly does when she sees Harrison killed. Hazel s feelings ought to be a continued, placid satisfaction that all is well. But deep within her the sympathetic individual cannot be stifled (Mowery). Fortunately, for the H G men she is of average intelligence and quickly forgets. The average intelligence class is aware, George shows this when he thinks to himself, [the ballerinas] weren t very good no better than anybody else would have been... (Vonnegut 232). He knows society has stagnated, but he lacks the will to do anything about it. he has accept his handicaps, they are just a part of him. • 7. Stamp Act of 1765 Taxation without Representation Ryan Vote March 8, 2010 U.S. History It can easily be said that the Stamp Act of 1765 was the beginning of the revolution for the colonies of North America. Before the Stamp Act, there were other failed attempts to tax the colonies by the British parliament. Each attempt to gain money from the colonies was unlawful because there was a lack of representation from Parliament. The Stamp Act of 1765 was very detailed and expensive for the colonists. The Stamp Act was the final act of taxation by Parliament before the colonies started to fight back and seek independence from Britain. Britain was struggling with a growing debt from previous wars. For example, the French and Indian War that lasted from 1756... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Colonial lumber (a big export of the colonies because there was so much) was now only allowed to export to Great Britain. Though from there it could be reshipped, the increased costs might well destroy the trade (Morgan, 29). Moreover, there were also new wine duties and an abolition of drawbacks on foreign textiles. The colonists were shocked and upset at the high taxes being imposed upon them. It seemed that all the colonists money making exports were being taxed. The old solution of smuggling was no longer practical, for the risk of seizure was so great that the added cost of smuggling would have the same effect as the payment of duties (Morgan, 29). The British Navy residing in America made sure that every tax was collected, even for the smallest load. The colonists found that the navy was extremely strict and un bending to even loads being sent over rivers. Every ship was found by the Navy in need of a seize and detain method. The American merchants started to fight back. They boycotted pilots who brought naval vessels into port, offered mates and midshipmen higher wages than the Navy was allowed to pay, and raised howling mobs (Morgan, 30). Afterwards, Parliament prohibited paper money as legal tender and the colonists feared that they would have to go back to bartering. A small outcry of unconstitutionalism started in Boston in mid 1764. James Otis published a pamphlet of colonial rights arguing that nature and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Cliffhanger In Walk Two Moons By Sharon Creech I. Cliffhanger: a cliffhanger in literature is a device, borrowed from early serialized film, in which a writer ends a chapter on a note of suspense, encouraging the reader to continue on to the next chapter. What is the cliffhanger at the end of Chapter Thirty One? In the novel Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creechthe author ends Chapter Thirty One with a cliffhanger. The protagonist, Sal calls her friend and tells her Phoebe, we ve got to find her. and Phoebe replies That s what I ve been telling you. (pg. 132). This is a cliffhanger because the author stops the chapter in the middle of the conversation without the reader finding out what Sal and Phoebe are going to do to find Phoebe s mother. II. Refrain: How does the refrain change as Sal and her grandparents get to the Badlands? What do you predict will happen? In the novel Walk Two Moons the author Sharon Creech uses the technique of refrain to develop the mood of the story. This refrain: the sound of the wind was hurry, hurry, hurry, and at night, even the silent darkness whispered rush, rush, rush appears for the first time on page four. She repeatedly comes back to the sound of the wind telling her to hurry and rush throughout her journey. The author uses this refrain to set an ominous tone as well as to create a sense of urgency. When Sal swept on across South Dakota toward the Badlands the author changes the refrain the whispers no longer said, hurry, hurry or, rush, rush. They now said, slow down, ... • 9. Establishing Therapeutic Relationships At Risk Children... Establishing therapeutic relationships is an effective way in facilitating positive change with an individual. It encourages both, working professionals and clients to participate in a relationship built on respect, acceptance, trust and empathy, to name a few. Building such trusting bonds, can allow professionals to gain a better perspective in the challenges and experiences of at risk children and youth. In my own words, the term at risk children and youth can be defined at those experiencing far greater risks than resilience in their most critical settings, often making their transition into adulthood difficult. Based on the content in Trouble Youth and Children, Chapter 5 by Brendtro and Shahbazian (2004), I will outline five key guidelines I, as a childand youth worker would use in my work with at risk kids, when developing therapeutic relationships and extending attachment. Discovering Commonalities The professional client relationship impacts every aspect of a child s wellbeing. When children or youth don t feel like they are known, they are less likely to engage or invest in the relationship. Brendtro and Shahbazian (2004) discuss finding some commonalities to lower stranger barrier . Finding shared interests, qualities or experiences with the clientele, helps to build trust and develop a purposeful relationship. • 10. The Book Of Romans By Paul Introduction The book of Romans was written by Paul to present a basic system of salvation to a church that had not receive the teaching of an apostle before. In this book, the basis of a biblical worldview can be illustrated by Paul when it comes to explaining the natural world, our human identity, human relationships, and culture. The Natural World With regards to the natural world, Romans 1:20 clearly states that For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God (NLT). The world was made perfect from God s hands and science taken the credit away from Him and given it to Evolution other erroneous ideas. It goes on to say they wouldn t worship him as God or even give him thanks. They thought of foolish ideas of what God was like and eventually became lost. Instead of worshipping God, they worshiped idols and God abandoned them to do whatever their hearts wished (Romans 1:21 24). People in this world are no different from those in Paul s days. The idols people worship today range from people, statues, wealth, material things, etc. It may not look like they bow down to those things but that s all their minds are set on. Verses 25 32 is a perfect example of how people live; a perfect example of how we are not to live. Human Identity Romans 3:10 18 says, No one is righteous not even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Expectancy Theory Of Motivation In Remember The Titans Immanuel Wilder 19 July 2017 Dr. Creasy BA 133 Remember the Titans The Expectancy Theory illustrates the mental process that employees endure when making decisions while doing voluntary things. The theory describes that the effort will determine the performance and the performance will help indicate the overall outcome. Expectancy represents the belief that exerting a high level of effort will result in the successful performance of some task, (Dr. Creasy PowerPoint). There are some advantages of the expectancy theory. One advantage is that it emphasizes on rewards or pay offs, (Expectancy Theory of Motivation, n.d., para. 5). In Remember the Titans, Coach Herman Boone, portrayed by Denzel Washington, expects big things out of his high school football team. As the newly appointed head coach and a black man, Coach Boone was faced with big expectations or else he would have to face the consequences. Coach Boone established that his team would show tremendous effort in the fall football camp at Gettysburg College. He set ground rules as he told all of his players that they would leave the school by 7:29 AM and made them all wear dress shirts, ties, and a jacket. Coaches appreciate the athletes that display the expectancy theory because they want more out of their team. Mean Girls is a teen comedy film loosely based on the self help book titled Queen Bees and Wannabes. The main character is a high school student named Cady that just moved from Africa and has been homeschooled her whole life. The American culture and society she is introduced to is embodied by the Plastics, who are the most popular girls at North Shore High: Regina, Gretchen, and Karen. The pressure put on Cady by society causes her to struggle to decide what her priorities should be. Mean Girls criticizes the traditional notions of femininitythat are expected of women, as they are not required for them to be successful and accomplished. Consider the scene when Cady first goes to Regina s house, closer to the beginning of the movie. During this scene, the Plastics collectively walk up to a mirror and start stating what they dislike about their bodies. The fact that the Plastics, who are supposed to be the most popular and attractive characters in the film, are pointing out flaws on themselves induces feelings of superiority, because even they aren t perfect. However, it is evident that many Americans find this alternative to monogamy beneficial. When compared to monogamous individuals, polyamorous individuals experience greater levels of intimacy in their relationships (Morrison, Beaulieu, Brockman, Beaglaoich, 2013). Per the research, polyamory is potentially a fulfilling alternative to traditional monogamous relationships for those who choose polyamory in place of monogamy. Closing itself when you let go of it, the door shuts with a slam. You gently set your foot down onto the step of the small, cement, back porch and your rainboot makes a thwip sound. Stepping off of the cement onto decorative stones, triangular and jagged, then onto the ground, you begin to acclimate to the temperature. Each step makes the same soft thunk as the first you heard. Then you begin to notice the sound of the grass, brushing against the bottom of your blue rainboots, and the crunching of acorns and twigs underfoot. Crunch. Pop. Crack. A familiar sound. Your attention turns slightly to your right where you find there is a small, dirt path, barely noticeable behind the fingers of the shrubs and saplings on either side of it. Pushing aside some of the leafy, pliable branches in your way, you start down the path. Your lungs fill with a rich, earthy smell. A good smell. Mccaslin Interruptions Poem Interruptions and the Mindful Moment: McCaslin s Interruptions In a busy and production oriented society, interruptions are generally seen as irritating, rude and unnecessary moments that should be avoided at all costs. However, in Interruptions , Susan McCaslin wants the reader to consider that living in the gaps between thought and conversation, in the interruptions of life, is how one can often see what is truly happening in the present around us. Using the rhetorical pattern of contrast as well as direction, the unexpected, natural imagery and words about language, McCaslin seeks to demonstrate the value of interruptions by understanding them as the gaps in life where the opportunities for mindfulness and creativity lie. The first stanza of McCaslin s Interruptions begins by giving the reader the direction that is the backbone of the poem s theme: in other words, the reader must grow accustomed to the interruptions in life so that the chance for mindfulness can occur. She then uses an unexpected subversion and natural imagery to begin building the contrasts where the interruptions in the poem develop. McCaslin directs the reader to Get used to them , beginning a series of commands to the reader to accept interruptions in every day life. She subverts the idea of a traditional male Abrahamic god, transforming the God she s discussing into a woman. With its lush melodies, beautiful orchestration, and poetic text, Rusalka continues to transcend the idea that it exists strictly as a Czech opera unable to be understood by foreign audiences. Though it remains the only of DvoЕ™ГЎk s operas to receive international fame (and is arguably the greatest), the romanticism and universal appeal of the story aide in securing a place for DvoЕ™ГЎk in history as not only a great orchestral composer, but also a gifted composer of opera. In today s age, consumers are overwhelmed by the paradox of choice so many choices to make, and no easy way to distinguish among the offerings (Davenport, Harris 2009). Furthermore, since consumers are bombarded with advert offering its important to avail of whatever attention a brand gets. Thus an attention economy is an approach of management that treat human attention as scare resources and applies an economic theory to make use of that attention; hence the ability of the brand to channel attention creates great value. A semiotic description is consequently a vital means by which we might begin to understand how an image captivates our imaginations. The founder of modern linguistics, Ferdinand de Saussure, argued that at one point in time language would be part of a comprehensive science of signs, which would study the production of meaning (Culler, 2001).
