Foensic Accounting Essays
Foensic Accounting
Corporations are often the victims of the most common white collar crimes that occur in corporate
America. According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (cfenet.com), abuse and fraud by
employees cost U.S. organizations more than $400 billion annually...[which equals] $9 per employee
per day.
These statistics show the corporate need for forensic accountants, there also is an immense demand for
these specialized accountants in the private sector. For example a forensic accountant is used to
quantify economic loss (askhal.com) in personal injury cases.

Accountants must have a good deal of experience working with computers. They develop computer
applications to assist the analysis and presentation of their findings. Due to the e commerce explosion,
a majority of financial records are now web related.
Forensic accountants often find themselves in court as experts in the field. Lawyers utilize accountants

How Did Steve Jobs Become A Renaissance Man
A modern Renaissance man who comes to my mind is Steve Jobs. To me a Renaissance man isn t
defined by his Phd or where he was educated. Steve Jobs was the CEO and a cofounder of Apple Inc.
He had the mental capacity to create products that most people depend on to get through the day. He
had skills that most people today don t have.
He went through high school but was a college dropout from Reed college. Even without a full college
education he became a billionaire. Jobs was married twice and had four kids which shows a attractive
personality, like any Renaissance man. His thoughts and imagination was pure genius.
Steve knew how to engineer and build a computer. Though he had the knowledge he didn t really use
it and hired engineers.

Mandatory Audit Partner Rotation, Audit Quality, and Market Perception: Evidence from Taiwan*
WUCHUN CHI, National Chengchi University HUICHI HUANG, Syracuse University YICHUN
LIAO, National Taiwan University HONG XIE, University of Kentucky 1. Introduction Mandatory
audit partner rotation has existed in the United States since the 1970s, when the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) required that audit partners in charge of Securities and
Exchange Commission (SEC) audits be rotated at least once every seven years. The Sarbanes Oxley
Act of 2002 (SOX) further strengthens this requirement by mandating a five year rotation for the lead
and concurring partners. An implicit assumption in a policy of mandatory partner ... Show more

We find no difference in audit quality between these two samples. Second, we compare the mandatory
rotation sample with itself one year earlier (2003) (the mandatory rotation sample in the prior year).
We find that the audit quality of companies in the mandatory rotation sample under new audit partners
is lower than the audit quality of these same companies one year earlier under old audit partners.
Third, we compare our mandatory rotation sample with companies in years before 2003 whose audit
partners were voluntarily rotated within the same audit firm (the voluntary rotation sample). We again
find no difference in audit quality between these two samples. In sum, we find no support for the
belief that mandatory audit partner rotation enhances audit quality. Our findings are robust to various
sensitivity checks. Next, we examine the effect of mandatory audit partner rotation on investor
perceptions of audit quality, using the earnings response coefficient (ERC) as a proxy for perceived
audit quality (Teoh and Wong 1993; Ghosh and Moon 2005), After controlling for common
determinants of the ERC, we find that the ERC of the mandatory rotation sample is not significantly
different from that of the nonrotation sample or that of the mandatory rotation sample in the prior year,
but is significantly larger than the ERC of the voluntary rotation sample. Overall, we find no
consistent support for the belief that mandatory

Castles In Japan Research Paper
Castles in Japan were built for two main purposes. First, it was built as a defensive platform. Daimyo
(feudal lords) all over the country built these strongholds so they could retreat during an attack. Both
the castle itself and the grounds surrounding it are fortified with numerous defenses. The main keep of
the castle also stored food and weapons in case of prolonged battles.
A castle was constructed to display the daimyo s wealth and power as well. Of course, the grander the
castle, the stronger and wealthier the daimyo.
Japan s history is intimately intertwined with the history of castles. Castles have their roots in defense
built around the homes of warlords. Preceding the rise of Nobunaga, Japan was divided into a great
many small provinces each ruled by a different warlord for nearly two centuries. The need for bigger

They evolved from the wooden fortress of earlier centuries to their best known form in the 16th
century. Castles in Japan were built to guard significant or strategic sites, such as ports, river
crossings, or crossroads. They almost always incorporated the landscape into their defenses as well.
Although they were built to endure and used more stone in their construction than most Japanese
buildings, castles were still constructed primarily of wood. Many were destroyed over the years,
especially during the Sengoku (Warring States) period (1467 1603). However, many were rebuilt later
during the Sengoku period and the following Edo period (1603 1867).
Today there are more than one hundred castles remain, or partially remain, in Japan. It is estimated
that there were once five thousand of them. Some castles, such as the ones at Matsue and Kōchi (both
built in 1611) exist in their original forms, not having suffered any damage from sieges or other
threats. In contrast, Hiroshima Castle was destroyed in the atomic bombing, and was rebuilt in 1958 as

Jung The Collective Unconscious
The unconscious is an aspect of the human psyche that still baffles psychologist today. In our
unconscious, we potentially contain repressed memories, desires, and behaviors. The individual
unconsciously executes many of the behaviors or desires. However, there is more to the unconscious
than our personal memories and behaviors. Carl G. Jung, a psychologist, was one of Freud s friends
and student. Jung diverged from Freud because his perception that the unconscious mainly contains
repressed memories. Freud had his understanding of these instinctual behaviors, but mostly dismissed
the concept as insignificant. Although, Freud did not particularly accept the collective unconscious,
Jung developed his theories despite disapproval. Jung explains ... Show more content on

These fundamental images have lasted since the far reaches of time. The archetypal images are
concepts regarding nature, interpersonal relationships, religion, and a whole range of other aspects of
human society. For example, we all innately understand the concept of water. This is something that
we are not taught or trained to know and accept. Nevertheless, the idea of water in dreams and visions
has held meaning for men all throughout history. The individual may not be conscious of the
significance from water. Over the course of Jung s life, he studied thousands of dreams comparing and
contrasting their significances and found many common themes, like the concept of water. Now to be
clear the archetypal images are only representations of the inherent archetypes. These images are not
archetypes themselves; they are the experienced expression of the archetype. The archetype itself is an
inherited mode of psychic functioning analogous to inherited behavior patterns. (Sills, 1968)
Therefore, fairy tales and myths are representations of these innate modes of psychic functioning. Carl
Jung understood that we all have these archetypal images in our lives, but an individual can

Structures Of Viruses
Viruses Viruses look different from one another. There are two structures for a virus, it s either
icosahedral or helical. The virus that is icosahedral can appear to be spherical or if you look close
enough it s icosahedral. This virus is made up of equilateral triangles. It s arranged into a symmetrical
fashion. A prolate is found in the bacteriophage of an icosahedral virus. Many animal viruses or many
viruses overall are icosahedral or helical. A helical virus has a capsid shaped into a rod shape structure
or a filamentous structure. Some of them are short while others are longer. It s made up of genetic
material and protein. Why they are a different from eukaryotes because they are not made of cells and

The first reason is that they are helping us increase our knowledge in biology. Scientists learned lots of
new things thanks to viruses. For example, the basic technology of genetic manipulation was
developed from studies with bacterial viruses Another reason is that we use viruses a lot in vaccines.
Thanks to vaccines, our body creates antibodies to defeat the virus in the vaccine. This is why you can
be sick after getting a vaccine. Then when we actually get the virus, our body will already have
antibodies to use and defeat it. An example, is the influenza shot. Once you get it, our body will create
antibodies to fight off the virus. If you do get the influenza, it won t last as long as it would have if
you didn t get the shot. Viruses can also help with diseases. If a person is missing a gene in one of
their cells. we can modify the virus genetic material to have to missing gene. Of course, scientists
make sure that the virus won t get the person sick. Viruses can also help with cancer prevention and
how to control it. Sure there are vaccines but there is also Virotherapy. Some viruses have been used to
kill cancerous cells. There is a lot more reasons why viruses can help us but I couldn t list them

Ethnic Conflict
With a long stemming past of ethnic conflict within Yugoslavia, the country at long last disassembled
over what historians would argue was The bloodiest war in Europe since World War II (Multi Ethnic
Conflict: Yugoslavia.). Yugoslavia was a country composed of six republics The socialist republic of
Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia Herzegovina, Serbia, and Slovenia. The country was created
after world war one in 1929 and was under the control of the Soviet Union up until 1991 when the
Soviet Union broke apart. With the fall of the Soviet Union came the inevitable turmoil, violence and
destruction within Yugoslavia the country began to fall apart. Ethnic conflict had been the root of war
and violence through out numerous countries all around the world for centuries. The ethnic conflict of
Yugoslavia was caused by differences in religion and ethnicity, different perspectives on government
and politics, and disagreements over territory. Yugoslavia was just far too small for the different
nationalities and government structures within it. Yugoslavia has long suffered with problems
concerning religion and ethnicity. There was always a back and fourth tension between the ethnic
groups. During the 1930s it became apparent that the ethnic groups were unwilling to blend and merge
together. The Serbs who made up about 40 percent of the population dominated politics. The Croats

A Brief Note On Cash Flow
2.1.2 Discounted Cash Flow:
Discounted cash flow methods are other popular types of capital budgeting besides the Net present
value (NPV). Discounted cash flow (DCF) is a common valuation method to evaluate investment
opportunities and includes two basic tecnhiques: internal rate of return (IRR) and Profitability index
(PI)or benefit cost ratio (Shapiro, 2005). Since this research focuses Profitability index for evaluating
the investment opportunity, the following section would highlight on PI.
2.1.2.1 Profitability Index:
The Profitability index (PI) also commonly refered to as benefit cost ration is the ratio of discounted
profits over the discounted costs. It is generally the estimation of profitability of an investment and

Although both NPV and PI yields came decision, they at times disagree in the ranking orders of the
acceptable projects (Shapiro, 2005).
Over the time, many researchers have criticised Distcounted cash flow analysis for till now every DCF
analysis treats a project s expected cash flows as given at the beginning. This leads to undertake that
all operating decisions are set in advance. However, in reality, the opportunity to make decisions based
on information to become readily available in the future is an essential features of many investment
choices and decisions. Several research have been conducted related to use of NPV in various fields of
study and business. Wikner (1994), had undertaken some study of applying the NPV to a systems
dynamics model of a production and inventory control system. Likewise, in 2004, Naim et al, had
presented that the standard NPV is not a sufficient criterion for analysing the dynamic behaviour of a
closed loop form of system and established a need to extend the NPV criterion to expand costs
associated with the variances that occur in the system variables (Naim, 2006).
Likewise in the paper Reasoning the net present value way: Some biases and how to use psychology
for falsifying decision models , the author stresses that eventhough the Net Present Value
methodology,is widely acceptable tool for investment decisions in economics, it exhibits

Sun Also Rises Bullfighting Quotes
In The Sun Also Rises the past event World War I negatively affects Jake and his fellow expatriates,
causing their motivation in life to vanish, leaving them to find solace in bullfighting, travel and
alcohol.
Jake and his friends feel aimless in life, they do not feel strongly about many things except for the
magnificent tradition of bullfighting. Bullfighters within the novel are seen as people who live their
lives all the way up (18). These famous individuals receive anything they so please. This quote
demonstrates how miserable life must be for for Jake and his friends. The only thing the characters
feel passionate about in the novel is bullfighting, an activity to past time during the week long fiesta,
San Fermín. Hemingway puts a lot of emphasis on this sport to prove the pointlessness of life and how

Sigmund Freud, The Founder Of Psychoanalysis, Used A...
Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, used a psychodynamic approach of understand the
development of a person. He theorized that psychic determinism dominates the personality process.
Therefore, all thought process in the mind are based on the unconscious or preconscious, things that
called be recalled, which then becomes conscious. A person s unconscious is much larger than their
preconscious and their conscious is limited. The personality structure is designated into three facets
the ID, Ego and Super Ego. These three functions compete with one another to create an individual s
personality and their actions. In Freud s perception, the greatest system is the ID, which resides in the
unconscious. It is responsible for the fantasy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Getting out of bed will lead to earning a salary or gaining an education. Going back to sleep may feel
good but can negatively affect their job or schooling. People use judgement to outweigh the
consequences. Stimulus barrier, another ego functioning, is the skill of regulating or blocking stimulus
to concentrate on a targeted task. New Yorkers use stimulus barrier daily as car horns, sirens,
skyscrapers, city lights and conversations fill the streets. One must filter out most of the noise and
sights to not become overly stimulated. Freud also believed impulse control and regulation was an ego
function. This function regulates the person s feelings, desires and drives. Impulse control and
regulation is enacted when the person choses a healthy lunch and decides to not partake in junk food.
Although they may desire it, they have enough control to not have the unhealthy meal. When the
individual is in a stressful situation, Freud theorized that the ego employs defense mechanisms.
Defense mechanisms are unconscious psychological coping skills. Some of these defenses are denial,
intellectualization/rationalization, reaction formation and projection. Denial is the inability to accept
reality. It is considered one of the most primitive, yet can be detrimental if sustained long term. Some
people can accept the traumatic or stressful event but are unable to connect an emotion or feeling to it.

Johnson uses the headline with metaphorical words and diminutive language in order to portray how
Ed Miliband will cause a downturn in the U.K Don t let Ed Miliband sink this country with his
commie slab of rock . The use of the metaphorical word sink connotes the idea of the connection
Miliband has with regression as the country will be ruined if he comes to power. Furthermore,
Johnson uses the diminutive commie slab in order to decrease the importance of communism. Johnson
uses the word commie instead of communist to indicate the ridicule ideology that Miliband presents.
Hence, the headline, which s purpose is to catch the attention of the reader, directly associates
communism with regression therefore a threat to the British country. The headline facilitates Johnson

Moreover, Johnson uses the following metaphor to compare Miliband s ideology to previous

metaphor in a satirical way to compare Miliband s actions to the once communist East Germany,
which is constantly seen as the grey Germany. East Germany was also, in comparison to West

Summary Of The Story Of Thorstein The Staff-Struck
The story of Thorstein The Staff Struck is very short, but nevertheless, shares many traits and
characteristics of longer sagas. This story shows the characteristic features of traditional family sagas
and although action and violence are present, the narrator s main interests seem to lie in in the
personality and expression of the characters in the story. The events told in this story seem to be
deliberately told in a way to showcase the different characteristics, personalities, and choices of the
main characters as well as highlights their position in this social dilemma. . The conflicts the
characters encounter involve upholding respect from the community while preserving one s own
dignity. Every character in Thorstein creates his or her own argument, each believing that he/she is

the story of an old Viking s son named Thorstein who gets into some trouble with Bjorni, the
community chieftain and wealthiest and most powerful farmer in the district, after he kills three of his
farmhands. The contentious relationship between Thorstein and Thord was not abnormal, as both men

Political Development Of The Spanish Colonies
Lower down on the map of North America were the Spanish colonies. After Columbus discovered the
New World, the Spanish Crown began governing the area. With the arrival of various explorers and
colonizers like Columbus, there were rivalries for the land within the South. By the middle of the
1500s, Spain organized themselves politically and economically in the Southwest and the Spanish
gained a tight hold on their land of New World. Until the 19th century, Spanish America was divided
into viceroyalties and governed through a Council of the Indies in Spain. The viceroys were not just
governors, they were the king of Spain s representative and therefore, were treated as royalty. This
system of under kings was developed by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. He also organized
judicial courts of appeal throughout the Spanish lands with appointed judges to ensure justice was
dispensed throughout the New World, the King s rights were upheld, and that taxes were collected.
There was a vast military presence in the Spanish colonies to protect them intrusion by other world
powers (Politics in Spanish Colonization).
In all New World towns, there were powerful and rich people who made major decisions even though
they were far away from the crown in Spain. However, after the development of the New Spanish

Beatriz Milhazes African American Art Style
In this overview, I will be comparing Beatriz Milhazes art to African art. Beatriz Milhazes is from
Brazil; she was born in 1960. She does paintings, prints, and architectural installations (Guggenheim).
Her artwork is mainly geometric figures sort of like kaleidoscope. Most of her work is based on
European and Brazilian art. Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, and Talsila do Amaral are three artists that
influenced her to do art (Guggenheim). In the 90 s, Milhaze started doing a method of collaging art
and this became her technique; most of paintings had geometric shapes, floral patterns, and used very
bright colors(Widewalls). African patterns are very different from Milhaze s artwork. African patterns
came from architecture, artifacts, masks and textiles (Contemporary African Art). Most of the patterns
are repetitive, for instance, chevron and zigzag patterns are examples but geometric shapes are also
repetitive. The geometric shapes are used in paintings, print, and many more. The geometric shapes
pattern can be arranged horizontally or vertical. Some African patterns are also found in crafts and

Qanah In The Bible
Genesis 4:1b is difficult to interpret. In the Hebrew it reads, I have gotten a man from the Lord. This
could be interpreted to mean that the Lord served as an active participant in the conception of Cain.
The word qanah has a range of meanings including, acquire, bought, purchased, and gotten. The only
time it is used to mean gotten is in Genesis 4:1b. It is important to study this word elsewhere in the
Hebrew Bible, along with other words for conception, to try and interpret qanah in Genesis 4:1b.
Earlier in Genesis 4:1 we read, Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and
gave birth to Cain (NASB, emphasis mine). The word for conceived is harah, and the other times it is
used in the Hebrew Bible it almost always means conception (40/43 times). It is interesting that the
writer in Genesis uses the word conception earlier in the verse, and then uses qanah when Eve states
she has gotten a man from the Lord. This helps to distinguish qanah from procreation (harah). ... Show

Whether one lived in a small town or the great city of London, dances were very popular, as well as
meeting with friends at the local pub for sing alongs. Chess, checkers and tennis also happened to be
popular games at the time, along with hunting, fencing and bear baiting for the upper class. However,
once the Globe Theatre was introduced in 1599, new standards for human fun and enjoyment were
created (Mabillard). Because of the Globe Theatre, talented actors, and brilliant playwrights such as
William Shakespeare, the world of entertainment has forever been changed. Before the world of
theatre was popular, acting and plays were considered taboo. Elizabethan people loved entertainment.
Feasts, fairs, and festivals were all common occurrences throughout the year, a lot of which were
dictated by the Church and religious affiliations. Whenever there was something to celebrate, such as
a betrothal, wedding, or a victory, the people of Elizabethan England were always eager to oblige.
Linda Alchin writes that court entertainment was often a regular, nightly occurrence combined with
feasts, jousts and banquets often accompanied by music and dancing (Alchin). All classes seemed to
delight in the vicious form of entertainment known as bear baiting, but it was without doubt Queen
Elizabeth s favourite pastime. Dogs would be pitted against bears or bulls and onlookers would gather

Hindu Motifs In Bliss
Bliss Task 3 A motif is an idea, action, image or sound that repeats itself and has a role on the
development and explanation of the main idea. There are many different motifs in the novel Bliss ,
such as the white suit or Harry Joy s Fiat car. In this essay, I will be discussing the motif of Krishna, a
Hindu god. Krishna is one of the major Hindu gods, and considered as eight incarnation of
Vishnu(Cartwright). However, there was a prophecy telling Krishna s uncle Kamsa was going to be
killed by Devaki s eighth child, which happens to be Krishna. Hopefully, Vaseduva, his earthly father,
hid Krishna in the remote village of Vrindavana where Krishna disguised as a simple cowherd. Thus,
Krishna is not only a god concealed as a human, but also

Factors Affecting The Demand For Toothbrushes
To assess the factors affecting the demand for toothbrushes in India, a situation analysis has been
performed using the 5Cs framework:
Context: In 2009, India was the world s largest democracy; with a population of 1.16billion growing
at 1.4% per annum, the country suffered from a huge disparity in income with the majority of Indian
population (78%) living in rural areas, and as many as 80% living under $2 per day. The 78% who
lived in rural areas accounted for c. 64% of total expenditures in India. Around 50% of the Indian
population did not have sufficient awareness of dental healthcare, and did not associate dental
problems with improper care but rather to eating habits or genetics; most of these Indians were using
natural remedies as chewing twigs from the Neem tree. Among the remaining population who used
modern dental healthcare or a toothbrush, 77% brushed their teeth less than twice a day
(recommended usage), and out of the 747.1million brushes sold every year, only 8.6% replaced their
brush every 3 months. Cottle Taylor (CT) enjoyed a large market share in India and focused on
toothbrushes. Given the peculiarities of the market, CT decided to focus on toothbrushes where it
enjoys larger gross margins by virtue of its existing manufacturing infrastructure that has been built
over the years.
Customers: Given the composition of the Indian population described earlier, the customers are
typically price sensitive with not much disposable income. The majority of

Hector s Role In The Trojan War
Hector was born to King Priam and Hecuba, and later married to Andromache to have a child named
Astanyax. Hector s personality was very kind, and he was known to be peaceful as he didn t support
the war. Nevertheless, he was faithful to his country and fought when his brother, Paris, was foolish
enough to start a war. Hector killed the first Greek in the war according to a prophecy that stated that
the first Greek to step on Trojan land would be killed. Hector helped the Trojans gain a lead in the war
after nine grueling years after Achilles departed the Greek army due to an inner conflict. Hector then
began to fight Diomedes until Diomedes saw Ares was helping Hector, and then forced the Greeks to
fall back. Suddenly, Hera and Athena gave Diomedes the strength to hurt Ares, and the Trojans
retreated when the power of Ares was no longer with them. At this turning point, Hector had to return
to Troy to ask for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Admiring each other s courage and strength, the two warriors exchanged gifts to honor each other.
After the battle, fighting continued, and the Trojans were overpowering the Greeks. The Greeks
desperately needed Achilles, but he wouldn t come. Thus, Patroclus disguised himself as Achilles and
went into battle. The great friend of Achilles managed to push back the Trojan forces out of sheer
intimidation. However, Hector killed Patroclus with the power of Apollo. Achilles, in a fit of rage,
went to fight Hector to avenge his best friend. Hector s final and most notorious battle was going to
begin. As the battle ensued, they threw spears at each other, and eventually engaged in a courageous
sword fight. Hector then died, at which then he asked that Achilles return his body to his father.
Achilles anger, however, was not quenched, and dragged Hector s body around for 12 days. Finally,
Achilles was convinced to return Hector s body to the Trojans, where he received a proper burial and
large respects from the

The Effect Of Detrital Zircon Dating On South Australia
Introduction
With the use of detrital zircon dating, and minor use of authigenic monazite dating, estimations of age
constraints can be applied to the Proterozoic basins on the south Australian island, Tasmania. Zircon
minerals occur as a trace component in many sedimentary rocks. Therefore due to its widespread
occurrence and its relative resistance to both mechanical and chemical weathering, which enhances its
chance of survival through processes of transportation, dating methods through zircon minerals have
become a standard for dating sedimentary basins (Black et al).
The Rocky Cape Group of northwest Tasmania provides an insight into the record of the passive
margin sedimentation and has the potential to constrain Tasmania s position historically within the
meso neoproterozoic supercontinent reconstructions (Halpin).
A number of studies have been conducted such as Black et al (2004) Berry et al (2008) and Halpin et
al (2014), mainly on the Western Tasmanian Terrane, in an effort to constrain a position in past
supercontinent amalgamations and to challenge the hypothesis of many supercontinent models such as
SWEAT and AUSWUS that Tasmania was positioned in close proximity to the past North American
continent, Laurentia.
Geologic Setting
Tasmania
The geologic setting of Tasmania is characterized by Proterozoic sedimentary basins with varying
origins that outcrop predominetly in the north western regions of Tasmania. The depositional history
of Tasmania can be split

W. E. B Dubois Double Consciousness Analysis
Ashley Dorsey 2/28/2017 Our Spiritual Strivings 1. What does Du Bois mean by Double
Consciousness? Double Consciousness portrays the slant that you have more than one social character,
which makes it difficult to develop a sentiment self. It is a thought that W.E.B. Du Bois at first
displayed in his book, The Souls of Dim Society, which was made in 1903. Du Bois assumed that
African Americans lived in an overall population that was burdensome and demeaned them as
reciprocals. Meanwhile, the African American culture enabled consistency and regard. This sort of

The Fighter Movie Analysis
The Fighter (2010) directed by David O Russell is a captivating and passionate sports drama. The film
was easily able to portray the journey that the Eklund Ward family took on Micky s road to success in
a realistic way which made it easy for me to understand and develop emotions towards the film and
the characters in it. It was an exceptional watch which captured my full attention. The film made me
realise there is always a struggle with success. I saw and experience this while watching the film and I
am able to take this new found awareness with me into the real world when the film is over. The
performance of the characters and the realistic portrayal of drugs in this film are major aspects that
make this film so beguiling.
In the film the main character Micky Ward is a very promising boxer. Being a boxer is a family thing,
his mother, Alice Ward, is his manager and his stepbrother brother, Dicky Eklund, is his trainer. Dicky
is unreliable and Alice is very resilient. The two were very controlling over Micky and feel they have
some sense of supremacy of him. However, even though Micky is working hard to try and make the
best of his situation, he keeps getting blows that knock him down. They come in from the left, the
right and all other directions, the hits that he receives seem to be the consequences of having Dicky
and Alice as part of team. Despite this and his latest fight being unsuccessful, Micky still gets back in
the ring.
The performance by Melissa Leo as Alice

I feel like you and the Winchesters forget sometimes, Samandriel continued. His voice was frustrated

Steve Jobs was the CEO and a cofounder of Apple Inc. He had the mental capacity to create products that most people depend on to get through the day. He had skills that most people today don t have. He went through high school but was a college dropout from Reed college. Even without a full college education he became a billionaire. Mandatory Audit Partner Rotation, Audit Quality, and Market Perception: Evidence from Taiwan* WUCHUN CHI, National Chengchi University HUICHI HUANG, Syracuse University YICHUN LIAO, National Taiwan University HONG XIE, University of Kentucky 1. Introduction Mandatory audit partner rotation has existed in the United States since the 1970s, when the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) required that audit partners in charge of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) audits be rotated at least once every seven years. The Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) further strengthens this requirement by mandating a five year rotation for the lead and concurring partners. An implicit assumption in a policy of mandatory partner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We find no difference in audit quality between these two samples. Second, we compare the mandatory rotation sample with itself one year earlier (2003) (the mandatory rotation sample in the prior year). We find that the audit quality of companies in the mandatory rotation sample under new audit partners is lower than the audit quality of these same companies one year earlier under old audit partners. Third, we compare our mandatory rotation sample with companies in years before 2003 whose audit partners were voluntarily rotated within the same audit firm (the voluntary rotation sample). We again find no difference in audit quality between these two samples. In sum, we find no support for the belief that mandatory audit partner rotation enhances audit quality. Our findings are robust to various sensitivity checks. Next, we examine the effect of mandatory audit partner rotation on investor perceptions of audit quality, using the earnings response coefficient (ERC) as a proxy for perceived audit quality (Teoh and Wong 1993; Ghosh and Moon 2005), After controlling for common determinants of the ERC, we find that the ERC of the mandatory rotation sample is not significantly different from that of the nonrotation sample or that of the mandatory rotation sample in the prior year, but is significantly larger than the ERC of the voluntary rotation sample. Overall, we find no consistent support for the belief that mandatory ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Castles In Japan Research Paper Castles in Japan were built for two main purposes. First, it was built as a defensive platform. Daimyo (feudal lords) all over the country built these strongholds so they could retreat during an attack. Both the castle itself and the grounds surrounding it are fortified with numerous defenses. The main keep of the castle also stored food and weapons in case of prolonged battles. A castle was constructed to display the daimyo s wealth and power as well. Of course, the grander the castle, the stronger and wealthier the daimyo. Japan s history is intimately intertwined with the history of castles. Castles have their roots in defense built around the homes of warlords. Preceding the rise of Nobunaga, Japan was divided into a great many small provinces each ruled by a different warlord for nearly two centuries. The need for bigger and stronger ... Castles in Japan were built to guard significant or strategic sites, such as ports, river crossings, or crossroads. They almost always incorporated the landscape into their defenses as well. Although they were built to endure and used more stone in their construction than most Japanese buildings, castles were still constructed primarily of wood. Many were destroyed over the years, especially during the Sengoku (Warring States) period (1467 1603). However, many were rebuilt later during the Sengoku period and the following Edo period (1603 1867). Today there are more than one hundred castles remain, or partially remain, in Japan. It is estimated that there were once five thousand of them. Some castles, such as the ones at Matsue and Kōchi (both built in 1611) exist in their original forms, not having suffered any damage from sieges or other threats. In our unconscious, we potentially contain repressed memories, desires, and behaviors. The individual unconsciously executes many of the behaviors or desires. However, there is more to the unconscious than our personal memories and behaviors. Carl G. Jung, a psychologist, was one of Freud s friends and student. Jung diverged from Freud because his perception that the unconscious mainly contains repressed memories. Freud had his understanding of these instinctual behaviors, but mostly dismissed the concept as insignificant. These fundamental images have lasted since the far reaches of time. The archetypal images are concepts regarding nature, interpersonal relationships, religion, and a whole range of other aspects of human society. For example, we all innately understand the concept of water. This is something that we are not taught or trained to know and accept. Nevertheless, the idea of water in dreams and visions has held meaning for men all throughout history. The individual may not be conscious of the significance from water. Over the course of Jung s life, he studied thousands of dreams comparing and contrasting their significances and found many common themes, like the concept of water. Now to be clear the archetypal images are only representations of the inherent archetypes. These images are not archetypes themselves; they are the experienced expression of the archetype. The archetype itself is an inherited mode of psychic functioning analogous to inherited behavior patterns. (Sills, 1968) Therefore, fairy tales and myths are representations of these innate modes of psychic functioning. The first reason is that they are helping us increase our knowledge in biology. Scientists learned lots of new things thanks to viruses. For example, the basic technology of genetic manipulation was developed from studies with bacterial viruses Another reason is that we use viruses a lot in vaccines. Thanks to vaccines, our body creates antibodies to defeat the virus in the vaccine. This is why you can be sick after getting a vaccine. Then when we actually get the virus, our body will already have antibodies to use and defeat it. An example, is the influenza shot. Once you get it, our body will create antibodies to fight off the virus. If you do get the influenza, it won t last as long as it would have if you didn t get the shot. Viruses can also help with diseases. If a person is missing a gene in one of their cells. we can modify the virus genetic material to have to missing gene. Of course, scientists make sure that the virus won t get the person sick. Viruses can also help with cancer prevention and how to control it. Sure there are vaccines but there is also Virotherapy. With the arrival of various explorers and colonizers like Columbus, there were rivalries for the land within the South. By the middle of the 1500s, Spain organized themselves politically and economically in the Southwest and the Spanish gained a tight hold on their land of New World. Until the 19th century, Spanish America was divided into viceroyalties and governed through a Council of the Indies in Spain. The viceroys were not just governors, they were the king of Spain s representative and therefore, were treated as royalty. This system of under kings was developed by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. He also organized judicial courts of appeal throughout the Spanish lands with appointed judges to ensure justice was dispensed throughout the New World, the King s rights were upheld, and that taxes were collected. There was a vast military presence in the Spanish colonies to protect them intrusion by other world powers (Politics in Spanish Colonization). In all New World towns, there were powerful and rich people who made major decisions even though they were far away from the crown in Spain. However, after the development of the New Spanish Colonies, a divide developed between the Spanish born Peninsulares and the Spanish, American born Criollos. • 18. Mission Trip To Brazil The Word of God contains numerous scriptures pertaining to servitude. The last shall be first, well done my good and faithful servant, and even the purpose of the Lord s Christ, to serve and give his life a ransom for many. At one point in time or another, we have all had the opportunity to minister to those weaker, less fortunate, confused, tired and heavy laden, or just people in our path. From the miniscule of helps to the grandeur of provisions, anything we have done to the least of these, we have done unto our Savior (Matthew 25:40). My pearls of serving others have carried me to the uttermost parts of the world in the form of mission trips with ample opportunity to share the gospel. Our marching orders known as the great commission is laid out in Acts, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth. We have spent some unbelievable time in Brazil, Nicaragua (X 5), Honduras (X 5), Africa, and Hungary. We are rolling to Mexico this June, and I am looking forward to serving in Haiti in the very near future. During these trips, my ministry focused on women and children. I have been called to be a carpenter, painter, roofer, journalist, photographer, teacher, evangelist, pharmacist, concrete mixer, story teller, clown, softball/soccer coach, and singer to name a few. God called me to be an ambassador for Christ, and He has never failed to be my provision. Any menial task that was my responsibility, He smiled as I enthusiastically performed my calling. From dodging scorpions and poisonous toads to running from a brood of chickens, I never had a dull moment on mission with God. My travels began in 1999, and the following pages are stories ... • 19. Beatriz Milhazes African American Art Style In this overview, I will be comparing Beatriz Milhazes art to African art. Beatriz Milhazes is from Brazil; she was born in 1960. She does paintings, prints, and architectural installations (Guggenheim). Her artwork is mainly geometric figures sort of like kaleidoscope. Most of her work is based on European and Brazilian art. Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, and Talsila do Amaral are three artists that influenced her to do art (Guggenheim). In the 90 s, Milhaze started doing a method of collaging art and this became her technique; most of paintings had geometric shapes, floral patterns, and used very bright colors(Widewalls). African patterns are very different from Milhaze s artwork. African patterns came from architecture, artifacts, masks and textiles (Contemporary African Art). Most of the patterns are repetitive, for instance, chevron and zigzag patterns are examples but geometric shapes are also repetitive. The geometric shapes are used in paintings, print, and many more. The geometric shapes pattern can be arranged horizontally or vertical. Some African patterns are also found in crafts and artifacts such as: baskets, jewelry, cravings, blankets, etc. ... • 20. Qanah In The Bible Genesis 4:1b is difficult to interpret. In the Hebrew it reads, I have gotten a man from the Lord. This could be interpreted to mean that the Lord served as an active participant in the conception of Cain. The word qanah has a range of meanings including, acquire, bought, purchased, and gotten. The only time it is used to mean gotten is in Genesis 4:1b. It is important to study this word elsewhere in the Hebrew Bible, along with other words for conception, to try and interpret qanah in Genesis 4:1b. Earlier in Genesis 4:1 we read, Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain (NASB, emphasis mine). The word for conceived is harah, and the other times it is used in the Hebrew Bible it almost always means conception (40/43 times). It is interesting that the writer in Genesis uses the word conception earlier in the verse, and then uses qanah when Eve states she has gotten a man from the Lord. This helps to distinguish qanah from procreation (harah). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also used in Psalm 72 speaking of God as having purchased (qanah) His congregation. • 21. Elizabethan Entertainment Essay In Elizabethan England, before the theatre was accepted, there were various forms of entertainment. Whether one lived in a small town or the great city of London, dances were very popular, as well as meeting with friends at the local pub for sing alongs. Chess, checkers and tennis also happened to be popular games at the time, along with hunting, fencing and bear baiting for the upper class. However, once the Globe Theatre was introduced in 1599, new standards for human fun and enjoyment were created (Mabillard). Because of the Globe Theatre, talented actors, and brilliant playwrights such as William Shakespeare, the world of entertainment has forever been changed. Before the world of theatre was popular, acting and plays were considered taboo. Elizabethan people loved entertainment. Feasts, fairs, and festivals were all common occurrences throughout the year, a lot of which were dictated by the Church and religious affiliations. Whenever there was something to celebrate, such as a betrothal, wedding, or a victory, the people of Elizabethan England were always eager to oblige. Linda Alchin writes that court entertainment was often a regular, nightly occurrence combined with feasts, jousts and banquets often accompanied by music and dancing (Alchin). All classes seemed to delight in the vicious form of entertainment known as bear baiting, but it was without doubt Queen Elizabeth s favourite pastime. There are many different motifs in the novel Bliss , such as the white suit or Harry Joy s Fiat car. In this essay, I will be discussing the motif of Krishna, a Hindu god. • 24. Factors Affecting The Demand For Toothbrushes To assess the factors affecting the demand for toothbrushes in India, a situation analysis has been performed using the 5Cs framework: Context: In 2009, India was the world s largest democracy; with a population of 1.16billion growing at 1.4% per annum, the country suffered from a huge disparity in income with the majority of Indian population (78%) living in rural areas, and as many as 80% living under $2 per day. The 78% who lived in rural areas accounted for c. 64% of total expenditures in India. Around 50% of the Indian population did not have sufficient awareness of dental healthcare, and did not associate dental problems with improper care but rather to eating habits or genetics; most of these Indians were using natural remedies as chewing twigs from the Neem tree. Among the remaining population who used modern dental healthcare or a toothbrush, 77% brushed their teeth less than twice a day (recommended usage), and out of the 747.1million brushes sold every year, only 8.6% replaced their brush every 3 months. Cottle Taylor (CT) enjoyed a large market share in India and focused on toothbrushes. Given the peculiarities of the market, CT decided to focus on toothbrushes where it enjoys larger gross margins by virtue of its existing manufacturing infrastructure that has been built over the years. Customers: Given the composition of the Indian population described earlier, the customers are typically price sensitive with not much disposable income. The majority of ... • 26. The Effect Of Detrital Zircon Dating On South Australia Introduction With the use of detrital zircon dating, and minor use of authigenic monazite dating, estimations of age constraints can be applied to the Proterozoic basins on the south Australian island, Tasmania. Zircon minerals occur as a trace component in many sedimentary rocks. Therefore due to its widespread occurrence and its relative resistance to both mechanical and chemical weathering, which enhances its chance of survival through processes of transportation, dating methods through zircon minerals have become a standard for dating sedimentary basins (Black et al). The Rocky Cape Group of northwest Tasmania provides an insight into the record of the passive margin sedimentation and has the potential to constrain Tasmania s position historically within the meso neoproterozoic supercontinent reconstructions (Halpin). A number of studies have been conducted such as Black et al (2004) Berry et al (2008) and Halpin et al (2014), mainly on the Western Tasmanian Terrane, in an effort to constrain a position in past supercontinent amalgamations and to challenge the hypothesis of many supercontinent models such as SWEAT and AUSWUS that Tasmania was positioned in close proximity to the past North American continent, Laurentia. Geologic Setting Tasmania The geologic setting of Tasmania is characterized by Proterozoic sedimentary basins with varying origins that outcrop predominetly in the north western regions of Tasmania. The film was easily able to portray the journey that the Eklund Ward family took on Micky s road to success in a realistic way which made it easy for me to understand and develop emotions towards the film and the characters in it. It was an exceptional watch which captured my full attention. The film made me realise there is always a struggle with success. I saw and experience this while watching the film and I am able to take this new found awareness with me into the real world when the film is over. The performance of the characters and the realistic portrayal of drugs in this film are major aspects that make this film so beguiling.
