Vegetarianism In Michael Hollinger s Naked Lunch
Naked Lunch is a short play, written by Michael Hollinger in 2003. In this single scene play, a pair of
exes are having an uncomfortable meal together. A miss matched vase of flowers on the table, a small
vase with too many flowers in it or a large vase with too few (Meyer, 1086). Wine was being
consumed, or at least a bottle of wine has been opened (1086). The male character, Vernon, had
personally prepared the meal, steak, and was upset when she would not eat the meat. The woman,
Lucy, explained that she had become a vegetarian, but Vernon could not accept this as an explanation.
He proceeded to tease and then to ridicule her for her newfound vegetarianism. He could not accept
her choice to decline the steak, seeming to take it personally. His insults turned to insistence,
eventually escalating to literal force. By the end he literally forces her through volume, and
forcefulness, to eat the meat against her will, I SAID EAT THE MEAT! (Meyer, 1089). She capitulates
rather easily, preferring to avoid further conflict, but then quietly returns to the corn. ... Show more

Vernon would not be able to handle any contradiction and would eventually have found something
else to argue about. The friction, and his quickly escalating hostility, belied a predisposition for
confrontation, whether simply as a result of his personality or resulting from their history. An
argument was likely inevitable. The conflict may have been ostensibly about vegetarianism, but it was
actually a conflict of personalities and un aired personal history. More than just the recitation of an
argument between two specific humans, Michael Hollinger s play, Naked Lunch , demonstrates the
arrangement of human interpersonal conflict.

Munich Massacre Research Paper
Our greatest hopes and our worst fears are seldom realized... Our worst fears have been realized
tonight. On September 5th, 1972 the Olympic games that had originally been known as The Games of
Peace and Joy quickly became the polar opposite. The Munich Massacre was an event that greatly
shaped the way that terrorism was both approached and viewed throughout the world. The increase in
tension between the Palestinian state and Israel, the massacre of eleven Israeli athletes, and the
aftermath of those events, lead to the prominent change in terrorism internationally.
The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was an umbrella organization a group of organizations
dedicated to bringing the Palestinian state to independence. The PLO was comprised of numerous
organizations which were a part of the resistance movement, political parties, popular organizations,
and independent personalities and figures from all sectors of life. The PLO dealt with various tasks in
regard to the life of the Palestinian people in their main communities and throughout the world
through the establishment of several institutions in such realms as health, education and social
services. As such, the PLO is more than a national ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For many Israelis seeing the massacre of Jewish men on German grounds so soon after the Holocaust
was harrowing. The Israelis struck back sending warplanes over Palestinian war bases, killing
militants, but also innocent children and civilians. Starting two days after the massacre, Israel began
Operation Wrath of God, a covert operation directed at those who were suspected to be behind the
Munich killings. The operation targeted both Black September and Palestine Liberation Organization
and spanned from 1972 1988. Throughout the operation, the Israelis managed to kill two of the three
remaining terrorists involved in the 1972 massacre, however they were not able to assassinate the final

Suicide Impact On Society
A common misconception faced by society is that a crime can be truly victimless. It is true that not all
crimes are intended to harm other individuals or oneself, however, this is an after effect that is directly
caused by the breaking of a law. What are commonly seen as victimless crimes pertaining to
consenting adults performing illegal actions can cause harm. Such crimes that are considered to be
victimless include: suicide, consensual fights, and drug use. Not only are these crimes seen as
controversial topics in the public eye, but, they show the direct unintentional physical and mental
harm that is placed on society.
Impact on Society of Suicide Suicide is a controversial topic in today s society, as some individuals
believe it causes no effect on other individuals. This statement, however, is false because not only will
it affect your family but it effects your colleagues, friends, and even old classmates. One of the hardest
things that a community can face is the loss of a young person s life, as it effects everyone in the
community. This death can lead to multiple community members feeling guilty, not only for not
having prevented the suicide, but also due to distress, anger, and confusion. More specifically, in
regards to family members, it can lead to mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, divorce, and are
at higher risk to commit suicide themselves (Tracy, 2016, para. 3,4,5,6,7,8,9). The distress not only
will have short term effects but it will

Energy Consumption In Iraq
Iraq emerged as the second largest producer of crude oil within the Organization of the Petroleum
Exporting Countries (OPEC)(Saddam and abu Mansor, 2015). At the beginning of 2015, Iraq
reportedly held 144 billion crude oil reserve barrels, representing about 18% of the confirmed reserves
within the Middle East and about 9% of reserves worldwide ( Worldwide look at Reserves and
Production, 2015). Despite drawing huge benefits from the valuable conventional source of energy,
Iraqi households experience electricity shortage particularly during summer. In 2012, electricity
supply in Iraq was about 66 billion kilo watt hours (kWh). It is expected that the peak in electricity
demand will hit 50,000 to 60,000 MW by 2030 (Istepanian, 2014). ... Show more content on

The commonly employed insulation materials are fiberglass, cotton, and foams. In this standpoint,
TES systems are attractive due to their energy economy in buildings. Currently, the major concern
involving the modern buildings environment is related to the necessity of energy efficient sustainable
structures together with intuitive design and architecture. Management of energy supply and demand
equilibrium requires their constant preservation. 2.2 Buildings Management with Phase Change
Materials Based on heat storage capability TES media are classified in to sensible heat storage (SHS)
and latent heat storage (LHS). In SHS during phase change, the heat is stored or released in the
storage media together with temperature alteration. Conversely, in the LHS materials heat is stored or
released during phase change processes in the form of fusion/solidification. PCM undergoes a phase
change from a solid to liquid state or vice versa when the temperature increases or decreases
respectively. It is the phenomena of phase transformation that enables the PCM to store and release
significant amounts of latent heat during the phase changes. LHTES systems are created by
impregnating organic, inorganic, or eutectic compounds into construction elements including
wallboard and concrete. They are promising due to their prevalent acceptance and subsequent
adaptation as building materials in the entire buildings environment. PCMs

Forecasting By Vector Autoregression Models
CHAPTER NINE
FORECASTING BY VECTOR AUTOREGRESSION MODELS
9.1 Vector Autoregressive (VAR) Models
Vector Autoregression (VAR) models were introduced by the macro econometrician Christopher Sims
(1980) to model the joint dynamics and causal relations among a set of macroeconomic variables. The
vector autoregression (VAR) is commonly used for forecasting systems of interrelated time series and
for analyzing the dynamic impact of random disturbances on the system of variables. The VAR
approach sidesteps the need for structural modeling by treating every endogenous variable in the
system as a function of the lagged values of all of the endogenous variables in the system.
The vector autoregression (VAR) model is one of the most successful, flexible, and easy to use models
for the analysis of multivariate time series. It is a natural extension of the univariate autoregressive
model to dynamic multivariate time series. The VAR model has proven to be especially useful for
describing the dynamic behavior of economic and financial time series and for forecasting. It often
provides superior forecasts to those from univariate time series models and elaborate theory based
simultaneous equations models. Forecasts from VAR models are quite flexible because they can be
made conditional on the potential future paths of specified variables in the model.
In addition to data description and forecasting, the VAR model is also used for structural inference and
policy analysis. In structural

Nclb Act Pros And Cons
In 2001, Former President George W. Bush signed the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. This Law
launched the national standards and testing movement of the United States (2004).
The NCLB was structured to place the responsibility of our children on the shoulders of each state
individually. In addition, it is also beneficial to parents and students who are living in impoverished
communities with little to no resources available resulting in low performing test scores. The NCLB
also states that local educational agencies now have federal education funding in their disposal.
The following are excerpts from The Department of Education (2004).
The four pillars on which the initiative is based are as follows:
Stronger Accountability for Results ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In schools that do not meet state standards for at least two consecutive years, parents may transfer
their children to a better performing public school, including a public charter school, within their
district. The district must provide transportation, using Title I funds if necessary. Students from low
income families in schools that fail to meet state standards for at least three years are eligible to
receive supplemental educational services, including tutoring, after school services, and summer
school. Also, students who attend a persistently dangerous school or are the victim of a violent crime
while in their school have the option to attend a safe school within their district.
Positive and negative insights on the NCLB:
Positives
Statewide standardized exams has vastly improved enrollment for mathematics and science.
Legislation has firmly had an effect on public schools applying pressure to provide more educational
resources to the students.
The achievement gap between whites and the minorities has closed.
Low income housing and students with disabilities now has accessibility.
Funding for school technology used is now available in classrooms as part of NCLB, is administered
by the Enhancing Education Through Technology Program (EETT) funding for technology used
within classrooms, professional teacher training and development of online assessment

Theory of Knowledge Essay
Knowledge can be gained and interpreted in many different ways. It all depends on how people
prioritize different ways of knowing and how they perceive what knowledge is. This has led to the
question, Does knowledge consist solely of proven facts and information that can be organized in a
coherent manner, or is knowledge deeper, depending not only on facts, but also on interpretation
stemming from individual experiences? The question is, are facts alone enough to constitute
knowledge or do those facts need to be interpreted under guidance of personal experiences in order to
gain knowledge. In two areas of knowledge that have a large role in my life, natural science and
religion, I can see both sides to the argument.
There are many times that I agree with the statement that knowledge is nothing more than the
systematic organization of facts. Facts are, as Eugenie Carol Scott states in her book Evolution vs.
Creationism, confirmed observations that can be disproven upon further study (Scott 12). When facts
are systematically organized, meaning they are put in a certain order for a specific reason, in a way
that allows each piece of information to support the previous information, a coherent synthesis of
knowledge is able to be gained. In the natural sciences, this organization of facts is almost entirely
logic based. Scientists have to examine what they know and draw conclusions by piecing together
facts that make sense. Scientists cannot change the knowledge they have due

Summary Of Your Inner Fish
I attended the talk on Your Inner Fish by Dr. Neil Shubin on Thursday the 6th of April. The talk itself
was based off the book Your Inner Fish, that Dr. Neil Shubin wrote in ______ year. In the beginning of
the talk he stressed the idea that to understand the human species it very much helps to understand
animals as well. The anatomy of our own bodies and the understanding of what everything does can
also be seen in other animals like fish. He believes that we are the cumulation of millions of years of
evolution and that we had to come from somewhere. Most of his talk addressed findings that support
the idea that animals formed from fish to animals like tetrapod s and then to something like us. He and
other colleagues discovered the Tiktaalik, which was a creature who had both elements of fish and
amphibians. This was amazing find for the world of paleontology and shows amazing evidence for the
world of animal behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believes this shows a link between all species that ever lived such as microbes, sharks, frogs, bears,
and their relation to man. Meaning that in the world of animal behavior we may have all came from a
specific species and evolved throughout history. This may also shed light onto the animal behavior
world by relaying some of the information that we know as being apart of out interconnectedness from
one species. In reality his finding was a type of basis for humanity, it links our evolutionary world and
all species together. The idea that we are all divergent parts of one evolution, really shows that the
behavior an animal may have may also be explained by

The Elephant Man By David Lynch
Movies and novels deal with many serious real life issues these days, people with disabilities are no
exception, and this is all fine but it all matters if the issue is accurate and non offensive. Well despite
what many people think, most media representations of disabled people these days are accurate. There
are numerous amount of films and novels that feature disabled people and here are some reasons why
they are accurate.
First and foremost, media representations don t just go from film to novels, they can also be depicted
in forms such as radio dramas and videogames, it can also not just a mental disability, but also
physical.Physical disabilities are shown in such films as The Elephant man and even video games
such as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain The Elephant Man is a 1980 film directed by David
Lynch that depicts the story of Joseph Merrick (It was based on a true story,) a man who was born
with an extremely rare physical disability that completely deformed his face, making him look almost
like an elephant, one of the quotes in the film is I am not an elephant! I am not an animal! I am a
human being! I am a man! This shows that not matter how different you look or what society thinks of
you, at the end of the day, you are just the same as every other human, doesn t matter how different
you look, so the Elephant Man is an extremely accurate film depiction of the life and death of Joseph
Merrick. But that s not saying that there are just physical

Russia has been making plenty of headlines as of late within the online casino industry. This is
because after years in the doldrums, it seems that Russia is finally looking fulfil its potential and
become a prominent online casino market. As a result of this newfound enthusiasm several new online
casino brands have been introduced to Russian shores. But not only that, the Russian Government
have redesigned, redeveloped, and in many ways re launched the annual Russian Affiliate Congress

With increased innovation in VR technology on the way, it is clear that how online casinos conduct
themselves from a marketing perspective was a notable a hot topic. Furthering that, mobile casino
gaming was also addressed by several key names at the event.
Unconventional Approach
Technically RACE 2015 had no headline speaker, but most seems to attach such title to Tal Itshak
Ron. His presentation drew the biggest crowd, largely as he addressed to underlying issues within the
industry to a great extent. Key to his speech was the niche and more unconventional online casinos
that have emerged. He discussed the validity of the concepts that many of these casinos represent,
along with how key they are to industry landscape diversity. Bitcoin was another issue placed under
the spotlight, as he discussed how it could change how the industry functions in the years to come.
RACE 2015 Awards
Obviously, as with any congress or expo these days there is an award ceremony incorporated into
proceedings. The awards at RACE have become highly coveted, largely as they stand as a symbol of
industry excellence. This year 9 different awards were handed out, with each award seemingly as
coveted as the last. The most prominent award from a marketing perspective went to BETCART, who
were deemed to have the Best Gambling Affiliate Program.

The Scream Is One Of The Most Recognized Pieces Of Art
Edvard Munch s painting The Scream is one of the most recognized pieces of art throughout history.
He created this masterpiece in the year of 1893 and continued on to create three different versions of
the painting (Paulson). The image shows a deathly pale, skull shaped head man clutching his hands
over his ears, facing the audience, screaming with his mouth opened wide. There are two silhouettes
behind the screaming man on the left hand side of the bridge, while the sky is bloody and the water in
the fjord rushing. On Edvard Munch s official website, the biography mentions that Munch grew up
with is mother and older sister, his two role models, dying from tuberculosis at a young age. Leaving
him and his younger siblings with their emotionally detached father, who would torment them about
going to hell and burning, among other issues (Munch). The emotional torment Munch went through
in his early life, plagued him throughout his life and career, which resulted him creating many
different works of art with the sense of loneliness and desperation. Munch s use of contrast and
composition symbolizes the representation of man; the inner turmoil one may face throughout life.
Munch s use of a bold composition intends to show the viewers the intended form and structure of the
painting. There are three dynamic lines within the painting: the line for railing, the line for the blood
red horizon, and the line showing the flow of the fjord. All these lines are to direct the viewers eye

Judgement In The Crucible
Judgement. We all do it, every day. We make decisions based on certain factors of a person. In the
Crucible, a group of girls tell lies and act be switched to accuse people they dislike. They act as if the
convicted are Satan followers, knowing that the highly religious villagers would do anything to rid of
evil. It goes hand in hand with judgment, we see something or hear something we don t like, and
automatically have a whole idea about that person. Judgement is always present. Day to day can see at
least one person, or maybe even yourself=ves, making decisions or judgments purely based on say,
religion, gender, race, sexual orientations, and so on and so forth.
The accusations of today s world are just like the ones from the groups of the girls we see in the
Crucible. Everything in the Puritan society of the Crucible has to do with religious intolerance and
bigotry. As soon as John Proctor admitted to adultery, people had a change of hearts for the convicted,
but it all changed with what followed. Because adultery was seen as being of the devil, he was risking
everything. As seen in the Crucible, the black servant, Tituba was automatically thought to have to do
with the witch crafting because of her cultural background and ethnicity, which made it easier for the
girls to accuse her and have her thrown into jail. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can see women wearing hijabs, and some people rudely assert that they are terrorists and, not

illegal. It is very unfair that just because someone looks or dresses a certain way means that people
can automatically assume things. The people of today no doubt need to change that. Judgement has
been with people throughout history, and it indeed does shape the way things turn out or have turned

Hamlet Laertes Personality
Shakespeare s plays contain many types of characters. In Hamlet Laertes is absent throughout most of
the play. However, he still has a complex personality. At times, Laertes s actions are caused by
differing traits and, therefore create conflicting outcomes such as, a loved sister and the death of many.
Nevertheless, these characteristics are what make him himself. Laertes often becomes angry which
sometimes leads him to action without thought, but he is caring, loyal and, religious to an extent.
Laertes often lets his anger consume him sometimes causing him to act before knowing all the details.
After hearing of his father s death, Laertes storms the castle, when it could be assumed, he would be
welcomed in since his sister lives there. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His love for Ophelia is obvious in many ways. Before leaving for France, Laertes talks with his sister
about Hamlet. He warns her that the Prince s love for her is most likely a fleeting emotion. He
continues, saying that even if his feelings are true, it doesn t matter because he will marry for the
kingdom, not for love: His will is not his own (1,3,17). He warns her not only so she won t get hurt,
but also so she doesn t ruin her future. However, his most obvious act of love comes after her death.
He leaps into her grave so that he may hold her once more: Hold of the earth awhile till I have caught
her once more in mine arms (5,1,252 252). How much Laertes cares for Ophelia is very obvious and
present through the whole play but, his care and loyalty for others does have an extent. He shows
loyalty to his father by avenging his death. He goes so far to say he would kill Hamlet in the church if
the opportunity presented itself. While Laertes loyalty to his father is not seen until his father s death,
his loyalty to the king is presented much earlier. It is first shown when he came to Denmark to show
[his] duty in [the King s] coronation (1,2,53). He also shows his loyalty when he agrees to help kill
Hamlet. However, this loyalty is questionable because when Laertes is dying, he contradicts himself
by telling Hamlet The King s to blame

Compare and Contrast Society s Effect on Relationships in...
Throughout the majority of Othello , Lady Chatterley s Lover and The Great Gatsby , Shakespeare,
Lawrence and Fitzgerald seems to have this common focus on the changes in society in terms of
relationships. It appears that each text has a major event in which the dynamics of the relationships
change due to some aspect in society in which they are set.
Lawrence s Lady Chatterley s Lover is pervaded by the idea that relationships between classes are
highly influenced negatively by society. Connie is having this very sexual and passionate relationship
with her gamekeeper Oliver Mellors who is of a lower status to her. To many reader s surprise,

Lady Chatterley s Lover and The Great Gatsby are both attempting to represent a new change in
society for instance Lawrence is trying to strongly represent that post war society which had very
different dynamics to the anti war conventional society, equally, The Great Gatsby is also trying to
represent the dramatic change that is brought on by the American revolution and the way in which
relationships are changed and strongly affected by this change. By having these very different
structures for each novel it means that the reader s views of each situation shall be different. One of
these texts is not trying to compare to the others therefore the effect that the authors will be intending
for the audience will be different. The narrative of these three texts is also very different giving us a
very different view on the situation, for example in Othello the first person narrative is giving us a
very personal feel. We are able to sympathise with the characters. What they say and feel is coming
directly from the characters themselves therefore the audience of Othello may have very unbiased and
personal view of what is happening. In The Great Gatsby we have Nick Carraway talking about
Gatsby and what is going on in the text. By Fitzgerald doing this we as the readers may also be
subjected to Nick Carraway s view. This brings a possible difference in opinion in how society around
this time is viewed and then amongst this

The Relationship Between Television and Presidential...
The aim of this paper is to look at the relationship between the mass media, specifically television, and
presidential elections. This paper will focus on the function of television in presidential elections
through three main areas: exit polls, presidential debates, and spots. The focus is on television for
three reasons. First, television reaches more voters than any other medium. Second, television attracts
the greatest part of presidential campaign budgets. Third, television provides the candidates a good
opportunity to contact the people directly. A second main theme of this paper is the role of television
in presidential elections in terms of representative democracy in the United States.

The Democratic vote, however, declined 3.1 percent more in the postcall districts than in the precall
districts (p. 874).
This result suggests that the NBC prediction did have an impact on the election. Additionally, this
result supports the impact of the media on political behavior.
Some experts argue that rates of voting in the western states are not affected by early projections.
Strom and Epstein argue that the decline in western states turnouts is not a result of the early
projections by the networks but is the result of a complicated combination of factors, none of which is
related to information received on election day (Epstein and Strom, 1981, pp. 479 489). This argument
denies the influence of polls on the voting turnout in the first place, and it denies the impact of media
on political behavior.
Other researchers look at the issue of exit polls from a legal perspective. Floyd Abrams, a First
Amendment lawyer, supports the constitutional rights of the media and says their exercising of their
rights should not be restricted, even if that influences the voters:
Once it becomes a legal issue, even people who believe that projections are harmful, or that exit polls
are sometimes misused, should unite and say that the law should not be used to stop people

Compare And Contrast Samuel Hunt And Margaret Atwood
Samuel Hunt: Both Doris Lessing s On Not Winning a Nobel Prize (2007) and Margaret Atwood s
Spotty Handed Villainesses (1994) are speeches which demonstrate a great strength of textual
integrity, achieved through the speakers personal styles of presentation and the relevance of the issues
at hand, holding value beyond the contextual audience and towards a modern responder. The enduring
value of any speech is the ability to persuade with conviction, utilising both the arousal of the
audience s emotions to address topics of significance and the qualities of an effective rhetorician.

Lessing addresses that it is crucial that both are aware of this divide and make an effort to bridge the
gap despite the condition not necessarily either ones fault. The motif of a doorway is mentioned in
Lessing s speech, as a means of metaphorically demonstrating a barrier to education that can only be
unlocked for both cultures by bridging the divide between poverty and privilege. Whilst stressing the
point of education being needed for the underprivileged, Lessing also points out that the advantaged
world needs to be more educated too, acknowledging that reading, books, used to part of a general
education. This forces the audience to think about their self absorbed society that is unaware of the
extended global community. This feature in Lessing s speech contributes to the textual integrity as it
provides a meaning and value that is still relevant, acknowledging that it is the nature of human beings
to be caught up in their own world, but encouraging change within these people, as these starving
people may yet define us. Lessing s unconventional style of speech does not build up to make a point;
however makes this point very early ironically and with acerbic wit this is because of her already

Both Russia and China differ from the U.S. in their approaches to information security by holding the
mind and information systems to be essential components in their perception of information security.
This is key to understanding the fundamental differences of Russian and Chinese approaches to
information security as being distinct from cybersecurity while the U.S. view combines the two, not
considering the mind as directly part of the information space.
Cyberspace
In contrast to the ideas of information space, both Russian and Chinese references to cyberspace occur
primarily in translations of foreign text or in references to foreign strategic approaches. According to a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Special Needs Pupils
In Rantsu the approach for the special needs pupils is different from the other two analysed schools:
they have special classes, some of them are stable, others are used just in some periods.
The decision to make special classes can be based on the presence of serious cases of disabilities or
can be a way to help these special needs pupils to have a more personalized study path.
Even if it could be a good method to teach them, it could be dangerous to isolate these pupils from the
others. The other pupils will not face the presence of them, and these pupils will not be pushed to
communicate to the others, that will be necessary in their future life.
There are pros and cons in this approach and it s hard to define a line between help and exclusion.

The way they decide to take depends on the situation and on the grade of the crisis they have. In
Italian schools works in almost the same way.
The most interesting method used by the teacher was to follow the pupils knowledge to build the
lesson together. In that way pupils were completely involved in the explanation and they were all
active. The teacher used in a clever way the web, searching on it whatever pupils came up with, giving
them more information about their topics and images of them. This method is not often used in Italian
schools, where the most common method is sadly still the traditional lesson. It will be really necessary
to change it and take Finland as an example for it.

Natural And Natural Sublime
Many different natural and manmade things can be interpreted as aesthetically sublime. Things that
are sublime are all around, and they attract a lot of attention from the public. Most tourist attractions
are considered sublime. The sublime portrays the strong emotions of awe that people have when they
see powerful forces of the natural world. Along with tourist attractions being sublime, most art pieces,
especially paintings, are sublime. While some artists paint natural, sublime scenes like mountains,
volcanoes, and waterfalls, the artists Erich Mercker, Hans Müller, and Fritz Gärtner demonstrate the
sublime by painting industrial scenes that are immense in size and contain bright orange molten metal
which creates feelings of power and fear. The sublime describes the awe and shock that people
experience when they see something that is enormous in size. David Rodgers summarizes the works
of a man named Longinus, who is credited as the first person to define the sublime. Longinus defines
it as differing from beauty and evoking more intense emotions by vastness, a quality that inspires awe.
Whereas beauty may be found in the small, the smooth, the light and the everyday, the sublime is vast,
irregular, obscure and superhuman (Rodgers, 1996, pg. 889). He explains that the sublime is more
than just beauty because the sublime captures the massive size of these objects that creates
wonderment. Along with Longinus writing about the vast and sheer awe that the sublime creates,
Immanuel Kant also explains his definition of the sublime. Kant explains that the physical properties,
whether actually or imaginative perceived, that were generally accorded to the sublime by 18th
century writers, were vastness, obscurity and irregularity, all of which could evoke a degree of terror
(Rodgers, 1996 pg. 890). He also agreed that the impressive size of things helped make them sublime.
Overall, the sublime explains the wonderment and awe that someone feels when looking at something
that is huge and impressive. A painting that portrays the sublime is Mercker s Copper Mill at Duisburg
on Rhine River (Türk, 2003, p. 266). The painting shows a large factory that is right on a river, and the
machines present in the painting

Avoiding Roof Repair In Salt Lake House
One of the joys of owning your own home is that you will never run out of things to do. From mowing
the lawn and raking to maintaining the furnace, your list of homeowner duties could be quite long.
With so much keeping you on your toes year round, you will probably want to find a way to avoid
unnecessary problems. For example, making repairs to your roof after it has been damaged by a tree.
If you want to avoid roof repair in Salt Lake City, UT, here are a few things to look out for if you have
a tree in your yard. Branches: Trees are known to have overhanging branches that are often a nuisance
to homeowners. If your home wasn t so important to you, you may not be bothered by this, but
branches pose a serious threat to your roof. Tree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may seem like there is little destruction that can be done by leaves, but this isn t exactly true. When
leaves fall from trees and start to pile up on your roof, they are trapping in moisture, which can come
from rain and snow. Over time, you could start to experience warping, leaks, rotting and weakened
support beams. Weight: If a tree were to fall on a house, the roof could easily be destroyed. When
trees are dead or diseased, they are unstable. This instability would make anyone worry about how
long the tree will last and how much damage would be caused if it were to fall. Depending on the
weight of the tree, there is a chance little damage will be caused, but there is no guaranteeing that no
damage will be done to your roof or your entire home. Pests: The trees near your home are actually
home to pests and insects. With the trees being so close to your home, these pests and insects can
easily make their way to your roof and cause damage. For example, raccoons, birds, termites and more
can eat your roof, loosen shingles and pretty much destroy your roof over time. To put a stop to this
and prevent easy access to your roof, any long, overhanging branches should be

The Brown Vs. Board Of Education Case
Brown verses board of education started on December ninth 1952. The case was concluded on May
seventeenth 1954. Brown verses board of education is a very important, historical case. It is a United
States Supreme Court case in which the Court declared that all state laws establishing separate public
schools for black and white students to be unconstitutional. Before the Brown verses board of
education case was concluded, black, and white children had to be taught in separate schools.
Supposedly, it was not moral for white, and black kids to be near each other. Even outside of school
there were separate water fountains, there were separate bathrooms, there were separate restaurants,
and many other parts of daily life where black people, and white people were not allowed to go to the
same places. Both of these races were supposed to have separate, but equal treatment. However, the
white run places had much more funding, and much nicer amenities than the places where black
people were allowed to go. This was deeply immoral. The first of the groups to be positively effected
by Mamie Phillips Clark, and Kenneth Bancroft Clark was the group of kids who were put through the
coloring test. The coloring test was an experiment that was a big part of the Brown v. Board of
Education decision. This experiment is less well known than the doll experiment, it still played a huge
part in the outcome of the Brown verses board of education case. Mamie, and Kenneth did this

Gender Roles in Shakespeare Essay
It is a peculiar feature of Shakespeare s plays that they both participate in and
reflect the ideas of gender roles in Western society. To the extent that they reflect existing
notions about the proper roles of men and women, they can be said to be a product of
their society. However, since they have been studied, performed, and taught for five
hundred years, they may be seen as formative of contemporary notions about the
relationships between males, females, and power.
Derrida was right in asserting that quot;there is no outside to the text. quot; His claim is that every text

Elizabethan society had a loosely determined set of normal behaviors that are frequently
linked to gender. Despite diffusion of these gender expectations in both time periods (see
Dollimore, Traub), there are definite behaviors that either lie within the constructs of gender or
exceed/transgress patterns accepted as conventional. Through the mechanisms of exaggeration or
transgression, Shakespeare s comedies focus attention on the matter of gender and derive comedy
from the situations created. Characters that are natural representations of their gender do not
contain the same possibilities for comedy.
Beatrice says quot;O, that I were a man quot; (Much Ado About Nothing, IV.i.303), implying in
context that her gender has made it impossible for her to act. Other female characters in
Shakespeare do take on male roles, and whether it is because their true identity is hidden or simply
by virtue of their acceptance as non female, they are able to function in the text in ways
that an undisguised female character could not. Rosalind/Ganymede instructs Orlando in the ways
of love. Viola/Cesario enters Orsino s house and, consequentially, his heart. Portia argues a case
at law; actually serving as a judge in a dispute involving her new husband s best friend. In
assuming a man s role, these women overcome the limitations to which Beatrice finds her sex
subjected.

However, mother England saw the necessity of holding her colonies.

For many reasons, tension grew in the relationship between Britain and America.
Tensions first arose when the London government issued the Proclamation of 1763. This proclamation
prohibited settlement in the area beyond the Appalachians, by the colonies.
This angered many Americans because they felt that the land was their birthright, but this document
was not drawn up to oppress the colonies, but it was made to work out the
Indian problem to prevent another uprising like Pontiac s. Mercantilism also added to the tension
between Britain and America. Tension arose from mercantilism because
Americans were not at liberty to buy, sell, ship or manufacture under conditions that they found most
profit. The Boston Gazette explained how the colonists felt about mercantilism by stating, A colonist
cannot make a button, a horseshoe, nor a hobnail, but some snotty ironmonger of Britain shall bawl
and squall that his honor s worship is most egregiously maltreated, injured, cheated, and robbed by the
rascally American republics, proving that the colonists were very upset about England s new laws of
mercantilism (22 23). Also, many Virginian planters were plunged into a dept by the falling price of
tobacco, and were forced to buy their necessities in England, by mortgaging future crops.
Mercantilism also showed favoritism for the southern colonies over the northern colonies,

A Short Story Of A Story
Bob suddenly woke up after feeling water on his bed in his 85th level apartment. He lived in an
apartment in Old Manhattan, which he had lived in since he bought it in 2039 when he had just made a
lot of money from the stock market. The water had been rising ever since 2050 when it first started
rising up the streets in his neighborhood. Over the next 10 years, it had slowly crept up, passing the
1st floor, then the 2nd, one floor at a time. As the water kept coming up, it would weaken the walls,
and you could feel the building swaying sometimes. It was now 2061, and it had finally reached his
apartment. He would have to leave for higher ground, just like all his neighbors below him. Or, if he
had enough money he would leave for space. However, he wanted to help save the earth, except he
didn t have the power. He was now 51 years old and didn t want to move. He had chosen to move to
New York, because he was scared of quiet, and New York was known back then for being loud. While
he thought about his life, he quietly packed up all his things into a canoe, which he had for when this
would happen. He had already decided to move to the Rocky mountains because it was the only
mountain range he had heard of. He really wanted to help save the earth, except no one would pay
attention to him, and they would all listen to Donald, who was the current world leader, and all he
wanted was for the economy to grow, so he kept claiming that climate change was fake. Bob couldn t
find the courage to tell everyone that Donald was wrong, so he had no way of helping the earth.
Before he left, he turned on the TV one last time, to see the news for one last time. When he saw the
news, all they could talk about was how Donald was tweeting that climate change was a religion, not a
science. This only made Bob angrier, because he wanted to exterminate Donald so that he would stop
destroying all the windmills and solar panels. To him, it seemed like he was purposefully destroying
the earth. It seemed like that to everyone else as well, but he was too powerful and everyone else was
too timid.
Just when he was fuming about Donald, he saw on the news that Jeff had now started offering trips to
Mars, instead of just having to live

The Effect Temperature and Concentration Have on a Reaction We must produce a piece of

reaction. It is measured by dividing 1 by the time taken for the reaction to take place. There is five

5 cm of HCl (at concentration 1 mol./dm3) and 15 cm of sodium thiosulphate (at varying

with hot water from a tap. The water is placed on top of a Bunsen on a blue flame and the two

Repeat results and averages will be taken to improve the credibility of the findings, and present solid
grounding for the final conclusion. The repeat results will help to iron out any anomalies and the

Treatment Of Patients With Renal Failure
Every year more and more patients are diagnosed with renal failure. In hemodialysis the amount of
dialysis each patient receives is less, compared to at home dialysis and nocturnal dialysis treatments.
Kidneys are important organs for survival. Humans cannot filter harmful wastes, fluids, salts,

dialysis machine to adequately remove the harmful wastes from their blood. One of the main ongoing

Full Range Leadership
According to Bruce Avolio, What we have clearly learned is that leaders who can balance
transactional and transformational leadership across time, situations, and challenges are the most
effective (Avolio 2011, 49). People have a greater sense of ownership at the highest levels in terms of
identification and are willing to provide the extra effort needed to succeed (Avolio 2011, 49). Yet,
Rusty Ricketson wrote, Those who embrace the followerfirst perspective are not dependent on titles or

what happens, avoid taking responsibility, cannot make up their minds, and are satisfied to sit and wait
for others to take the necessary initiatives imposed by the tasks at hand (Avolio 2011, 55). In Full

The Self Evaluation Scales Assessment
Situation 1
I am not a very confident person when it comes to dealing with people who I do not know well
(introversion), thus I would have a harder time dealing with situation 2 compared to situation 1. I have
average emotionality in my HEXACO and low sensitivity to criticism from the Self Evaluation Scales
assessment, so I would typically be reasonably receptive to negative feedback. However, I have low
agreeableness, which indicates that I am likely to feel anger in response to perceived mistreatment.
In this relationship, I, as the employee, would be much more likely to genuinely respect my boss, thus
the power he has over me would be a combination of legitimate power, expert power, and referent
power. Research suggests that these bases of power are most effective and positively correlate to
employee satisfaction (Robbins Judge, 2008). Since he has my respect, I would believe that he is less
affected by bias, and trust that he would put aside his emotions in a professional environment and treat
me fairly. I would therefore seriously take his feedback into consideration, as I know that he gives
feedback in the hope that I would do better next time. I would also have the courage to explain my
point of view of the situation, as I know that my boss would listen. Feedback would therefore be given
and received more effectively, since the communication process would be smoother, with less noise
and interference.

Construction Of An Underground Network Of Tunnels
Introduction
In the 1850s over 400,000 tonnes of waste and sewage was being discharged into the River Thames
each day. By 1858 the stench from the raw sewage around and within the Thames was named the
Great Stink . It was a Civil Engineer named Joseph Bazalgette who proposed a plan of the creation of
an underground network of tunnels, to put an end to the polluted river. His engineering feat has been
improved and extended vastly but the Victorian Sewers still stand as London s primary sewer system.
The sewers were designed to be a combined system meaning rainwater and waste were transported in
the same manner. Bazalgette designed Combined Sewage Overflow (CSO) points along the Thames.
The CSO s discharged the sewage and rainwater into the Thames after substantial rainfall, this
prevented flooding the streets and houses. When designing the sewers, population increase was taken
into consideration. (16) The underground system and factories were designed to treat and transfer
sewage of up to double the population that was present when construction began. However the
population of London almost quadrupled from 2.35 Million in 1850 (19) to 8.17 million in 2011(7).
This drastic increase meant that the sewers were overloaded. The CSO s were overflowing with only
2mm of rainfall and on average discharging into the Thames around twice a week. The head of
Thames Water Phil stride, said Currently, 32 million cubic metres of storm sewage overflows from
London s Victorian sewers into

this, you are probably wondering how long do hot tubs last. Are they a long term investment? Have a
look at the following information in order to find the desired answer.
Plastic components
The plastic components of your hot tub must be maintained properly and regularly as well, so that
they can last a very long period of time. If you do not do so, then they are actually the ones that go
first. Generally, this is what happens in most cases due to the fact that the palstic parts are the ones
that frequently come into contact with the chemicals that are used for cleaning the water. Chlorine, for
example, will slowly dissolve these pieces over time. Other agents will do the same, and this is why it
is essential that you ensure a proper and regular maintenance. You must definitely clean everything
when you drain and refill the unit. By doing so, the plastic components will last up to 15 years. A

In the assessment there were only two alternatives, purchasing the land was the first alternative and
the second was to take no action (Vinkey, 2006). These both are fine as actions that can be taken;
however, there are organizations that will procure land for conservation purposes. The Safari Club
Foundation uses private donations and other procurements to promote conservation and game

alternatives (Vinkey, 2006) suggests a lack of options. This seems to be a bias on the part of the
author.
The no purchase option in the socio economic section had suggested that the economic use of the land
be on assumption. Also that there were no figures to determine the economic impact; however, if
assumptions were made to the economic use there should be at least theoretical figures to develop an
economic impact. The tax revenue for the county is also assumed to stay the same; however, if the
land was to be developed by a private citizen the value of the land would increase and in turn the tax
levy (Brooks, 2006). In the EA prior to the socio economic assessment it is suggested that the tax
revenue could increase due to development (Vinkey, 2006) in contradiction with each other.

Asch provides similar ideas, but in a more scientific manner. In his article, Opinions and Social
Pressure, Asch studies how men conform to the social pressures of a group. While each piece presents
feasible information, Asch delivers said information in a more credible format. Lessing and Asch take

  • 2. Vegetarianism In Michael Hollinger s Naked Lunch Naked Lunch is a short play, written by Michael Hollinger in 2003. In this single scene play, a pair of exes are having an uncomfortable meal together. A miss matched vase of flowers on the table, a small vase with too many flowers in it or a large vase with too few (Meyer, 1086). Wine was being consumed, or at least a bottle of wine has been opened (1086). The male character, Vernon, had personally prepared the meal, steak, and was upset when she would not eat the meat. The woman, Lucy, explained that she had become a vegetarian, but Vernon could not accept this as an explanation. He proceeded to tease and then to ridicule her for her newfound vegetarianism. He could not accept her choice to decline the steak, seeming to take it personally. His insults turned to insistence, eventually escalating to literal force. By the end he literally forces her through volume, and forcefulness, to eat the meat against her will, I SAID EAT THE MEAT! (Meyer, 1089). She capitulates rather easily, preferring to avoid further conflict, but then quietly returns to the corn. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Vernon would not be able to handle any contradiction and would eventually have found something else to argue about. The friction, and his quickly escalating hostility, belied a predisposition for confrontation, whether simply as a result of his personality or resulting from their history. An argument was likely inevitable. The conflict may have been ostensibly about vegetarianism, but it was actually a conflict of personalities and un aired personal history. More than just the recitation of an argument between two specific humans, Michael Hollinger s play, Naked Lunch , demonstrates the arrangement of human interpersonal conflict. On September 5th, 1972 the Olympic games that had originally been known as The Games of Peace and Joy quickly became the polar opposite. The Munich Massacre was an event that greatly shaped the way that terrorism was both approached and viewed throughout the world. The increase in tension between the Palestinian state and Israel, the massacre of eleven Israeli athletes, and the aftermath of those events, lead to the prominent change in terrorism internationally. The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was an umbrella organization a group of organizations dedicated to bringing the Palestinian state to independence. The PLO was comprised of numerous organizations which were a part of the resistance movement, political parties, popular organizations, and independent personalities and figures from all sectors of life. The PLO dealt with various tasks in regard to the life of the Palestinian people in their main communities and throughout the world through the establishment of several institutions in such realms as health, education and social services. • 4. Suicide Impact On Society A common misconception faced by society is that a crime can be truly victimless. It is true that not all crimes are intended to harm other individuals or oneself, however, this is an after effect that is directly caused by the breaking of a law. What are commonly seen as victimless crimes pertaining to consenting adults performing illegal actions can cause harm. Such crimes that are considered to be victimless include: suicide, consensual fights, and drug use. Not only are these crimes seen as controversial topics in the public eye, but, they show the direct unintentional physical and mental harm that is placed on society. Impact on Society of Suicide Suicide is a controversial topic in today s society, as some individuals believe it causes no effect on other individuals. This statement, however, is false because not only will it affect your family but it effects your colleagues, friends, and even old classmates. One of the hardest things that a community can face is the loss of a young person s life, as it effects everyone in the community. This death can lead to multiple community members feeling guilty, not only for not having prevented the suicide, but also due to distress, anger, and confusion. More specifically, in regards to family members, it can lead to mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, divorce, and are at higher risk to commit suicide themselves (Tracy, 2016, para. 3,4,5,6,7,8,9). • 5. Energy Consumption In Iraq Iraq emerged as the second largest producer of crude oil within the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC)(Saddam and abu Mansor, 2015). At the beginning of 2015, Iraq reportedly held 144 billion crude oil reserve barrels, representing about 18% of the confirmed reserves within the Middle East and about 9% of reserves worldwide ( Worldwide look at Reserves and Production, 2015). Despite drawing huge benefits from the valuable conventional source of energy, Iraqi households experience electricity shortage particularly during summer. In 2012, electricity supply in Iraq was about 66 billion kilo watt hours (kWh). It is expected that the peak in electricity demand will hit 50,000 to 60,000 MW by 2030 (Istepanian, 2014). ... In this standpoint, TES systems are attractive due to their energy economy in buildings. Currently, the major concern involving the modern buildings environment is related to the necessity of energy efficient sustainable structures together with intuitive design and architecture. Management of energy supply and demand equilibrium requires their constant preservation. 2.2 Buildings Management with Phase Change Materials Based on heat storage capability TES media are classified in to sensible heat storage (SHS) and latent heat storage (LHS). In SHS during phase change, the heat is stored or released in the storage media together with temperature alteration. Conversely, in the LHS materials heat is stored or released during phase change processes in the form of fusion/solidification. PCM undergoes a phase change from a solid to liquid state or vice versa when the temperature increases or decreases respectively. It is the phenomena of phase transformation that enables the PCM to store and release significant amounts of latent heat during the phase changes. LHTES systems are created by impregnating organic, inorganic, or eutectic compounds into construction elements including wallboard and concrete. • 6. Forecasting By Vector Autoregression Models CHAPTER NINE FORECASTING BY VECTOR AUTOREGRESSION MODELS 9.1 Vector Autoregressive (VAR) Models Vector Autoregression (VAR) models were introduced by the macro econometrician Christopher Sims (1980) to model the joint dynamics and causal relations among a set of macroeconomic variables. The vector autoregression (VAR) is commonly used for forecasting systems of interrelated time series and for analyzing the dynamic impact of random disturbances on the system of variables. The VAR approach sidesteps the need for structural modeling by treating every endogenous variable in the system as a function of the lagged values of all of the endogenous variables in the system. The vector autoregression (VAR) model is one of the most successful, flexible, and easy to use models for the analysis of multivariate time series. It is a natural extension of the univariate autoregressive model to dynamic multivariate time series. The VAR model has proven to be especially useful for describing the dynamic behavior of economic and financial time series and for forecasting. It often provides superior forecasts to those from univariate time series models and elaborate theory based simultaneous equations models. Forecasts from VAR models are quite flexible because they can be made conditional on the potential future paths of specified variables in the model. In addition to data description and forecasting, the VAR model is also used for structural inference and policy analysis. In structural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Theory of Knowledge Essay Knowledge can be gained and interpreted in many different ways. It all depends on how people prioritize different ways of knowing and how they perceive what knowledge is. This has led to the question, Does knowledge consist solely of proven facts and information that can be organized in a coherent manner, or is knowledge deeper, depending not only on facts, but also on interpretation stemming from individual experiences? The question is, are facts alone enough to constitute knowledge or do those facts need to be interpreted under guidance of personal experiences in order to gain knowledge. In two areas of knowledge that have a large role in my life, natural science and religion, I can see both sides to the argument. There are many times that I agree with the statement that knowledge is nothing more than the systematic organization of facts. Facts are, as Eugenie Carol Scott states in her book Evolution vs. Creationism, confirmed observations that can be disproven upon further study (Scott 12). When facts are systematically organized, meaning they are put in a certain order for a specific reason, in a way that allows each piece of information to support the previous information, a coherent synthesis of knowledge is able to be gained. In the natural sciences, this organization of facts is almost entirely logic based. Scientists have to examine what they know and draw conclusions by piecing together facts that make sense. Scientists cannot change the knowledge they have due ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The anatomy of our own bodies and the understanding of what everything does can also be seen in other animals like fish. Well despite what many people think, most media representations of disabled people these days are accurate. There are numerous amount of films and novels that feature disabled people and here are some reasons why they are accurate. First and foremost, media representations don t just go from film to novels, they can also be depicted in forms such as radio dramas and videogames, it can also not just a mental disability, but also physical.Physical disabilities are shown in such films as The Elephant man and even video games such as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain The Elephant Man is a 1980 film directed by David Lynch that depicts the story of Joseph Merrick (It was based on a true story,) a man who was born with an extremely rare physical disability that completely deformed his face, making him look almost like an elephant, one of the quotes in the film is I am not an elephant! I am not an animal! I am a human being! I am a man! This shows that not matter how different you look or what society thinks of you, at the end of the day, you are just the same as every other human, doesn t matter how different you look, so the Elephant Man is an extremely accurate film depiction of the life and death of Joseph Merrick. First, television reaches more voters than any other medium. Second, television attracts the greatest part of presidential campaign budgets. Some experts argue that rates of voting in the western states are not affected by early projections. Strom and Epstein argue that the decline in western states turnouts is not a result of the early projections by the networks but is the result of a complicated combination of factors, none of which is related to information received on election day (Epstein and Strom, 1981, pp. 479 489). • 22. Natural And Natural Sublime Many different natural and manmade things can be interpreted as aesthetically sublime. Things that are sublime are all around, and they attract a lot of attention from the public. Most tourist attractions are considered sublime. The sublime portrays the strong emotions of awe that people have when they see powerful forces of the natural world. Along with tourist attractions being sublime, most art pieces, especially paintings, are sublime. While some artists paint natural, sublime scenes like mountains, volcanoes, and waterfalls, the artists Erich Mercker, Hans Müller, and Fritz Gärtner demonstrate the sublime by painting industrial scenes that are immense in size and contain bright orange molten metal which creates feelings of power and fear. The sublime describes the awe and shock that people experience when they see something that is enormous in size. David Rodgers summarizes the works of a man named Longinus, who is credited as the first person to define the sublime. Longinus defines it as differing from beauty and evoking more intense emotions by vastness, a quality that inspires awe. Whereas beauty may be found in the small, the smooth, the light and the everyday, the sublime is vast, irregular, obscure and superhuman (Rodgers, 1996, pg. 889). He explains that the sublime is more than just beauty because the sublime captures the massive size of these objects that creates wonderment. Along with Longinus writing about the vast and sheer awe that the sublime creates, Immanuel Kant also explains his definition of the sublime. Kant explains that the physical properties, whether actually or imaginative perceived, that were generally accorded to the sublime by 18th century writers, were vastness, obscurity and irregularity, all of which could evoke a degree of terror (Rodgers, 1996 pg. 890). He also agreed that the impressive size of things helped make them sublime. Overall, the sublime explains the wonderment and awe that someone feels when looking at something that is huge and impressive. • 25. The Brown Vs. Board Of Education Case Brown verses board of education started on December ninth 1952. The case was concluded on May seventeenth 1954. Brown verses board of education is a very important, historical case. It is a United States Supreme Court case in which the Court declared that all state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students to be unconstitutional. Before the Brown verses board of education case was concluded, black, and white children had to be taught in separate schools. Supposedly, it was not moral for white, and black kids to be near each other. Even outside of school there were separate water fountains, there were separate bathrooms, there were separate restaurants, and many other parts of daily life where black people, and white people were not allowed to go to the same places. Both of these races were supposed to have separate, but equal treatment. However, the white run places had much more funding, and much nicer amenities than the places where black people were allowed to go. This was deeply immoral. The first of the groups to be positively effected by Mamie Phillips Clark, and Kenneth Bancroft Clark was the group of kids who were put through the coloring test. The coloring test was an experiment that was a big part of the Brown v. Board of Education decision. This experiment is less well known than the doll experiment, it still played a huge part in the outcome of the Brown verses board of education case. Mamie, and Kenneth did this ... To the extent that they reflect existing notions about the proper roles of men and women, they can be said to be a product of their society. However, since they have been studied, performed, and taught for five hundred years, they may be seen as formative of contemporary notions about the relationships between males, females, and power. Derrida was right in asserting that quot;there is no outside to the text. quot; His claim is that every text is affected by every other text and every other speech act. Elizabethan society had a loosely determined set of normal behaviors that are frequently linked to gender. Despite diffusion of these gender expectations in both time periods (see Dollimore, Traub), there are definite behaviors that either lie within the constructs of gender or exceed/transgress patterns accepted as conventional. Through the mechanisms of exaggeration or transgression, Shakespeare s comedies focus attention on the matter of gender and derive comedy from the situations created. Characters that are natural representations of their gender do not contain the same possibilities for comedy. Beatrice says quot;O, that I were a man quot; (Much Ado About Nothing, IV.i.303), implying in context that her gender has made it impossible for her to act. Other female characters in Shakespeare do take on male roles, and whether it is because their true identity is hidden or simply by virtue of their acceptance as non female, they are able to function in the text in ways

For many reasons, tension grew in the relationship between Britain and America. Tensions first arose when the London government issued the Proclamation of 1763. This proclamation prohibited settlement in the area beyond the Appalachians, by the colonies. Mercantilism also added to the tension between Britain and America. Tension arose from mercantilism because Americans were not at liberty to buy, sell, ship or manufacture under conditions that they found most profit. The Boston Gazette explained how the colonists felt about mercantilism by stating, A colonist cannot make a button, a horseshoe, nor a hobnail, but some snotty ironmonger of Britain shall bawl and squall that his honor s worship is most egregiously maltreated, injured, cheated, and robbed by the rascally American republics, proving that the colonists were very upset about England s new laws of mercantilism (22 23). • 30. A Short Story Of A Story Bob suddenly woke up after feeling water on his bed in his 85th level apartment. He lived in an apartment in Old Manhattan, which he had lived in since he bought it in 2039 when he had just made a lot of money from the stock market. The water had been rising ever since 2050 when it first started rising up the streets in his neighborhood. Over the next 10 years, it had slowly crept up, passing the 1st floor, then the 2nd, one floor at a time. As the water kept coming up, it would weaken the walls, and you could feel the building swaying sometimes. It was now 2061, and it had finally reached his apartment. He would have to leave for higher ground, just like all his neighbors below him. Or, if he had enough money he would leave for space. However, he wanted to help save the earth, except he didn t have the power. He was now 51 years old and didn t want to move. He had chosen to move to New York, because he was scared of quiet, and New York was known back then for being loud. While he thought about his life, he quietly packed up all his things into a canoe, which he had for when this would happen. He had already decided to move to the Rocky mountains because it was the only mountain range he had heard of. He really wanted to help save the earth, except no one would pay attention to him, and they would all listen to Donald, who was the current world leader, and all he wanted was for the economy to grow, so he kept claiming that climate change was fake. Bob couldn t find the courage to tell everyone that Donald was wrong, so he had no way of helping the earth. Before he left, he turned on the TV one last time, to see the news for one last time. When he saw the news, all they could talk about was how Donald was tweeting that climate change was a religion, not a science. This only made Bob angrier, because he wanted to exterminate Donald so that he would stop destroying all the windmills and solar panels. To him, it seemed like he was purposefully destroying the earth. It seemed like that to everyone else as well, but he was too powerful and everyone else was too timid. People have a greater sense of ownership at the highest levels in terms of identification and are willing to provide the extra effort needed to succeed (Avolio 2011, 49). Yet, Rusty Ricketson wrote, Those who embrace the followerfirst perspective are not dependent on titles or positions in order to gain a sense of identity and worth. However, I have low agreeableness, which indicates that I am likely to feel anger in response to perceived mistreatment. In this relationship, I, as the employee, would be much more likely to genuinely respect my boss, thus the power he has over me would be a combination of legitimate power, expert power, and referent power. Research suggests that these bases of power are most effective and positively correlate to employee satisfaction (Robbins Judge, 2008). Since he has my respect, I would believe that he is less affected by bias, and trust that he would put aside his emotions in a professional environment and treat me fairly. I would therefore seriously take his feedback into consideration, as I know that he gives feedback in the hope that I would do better next time. I would also have the courage to explain my point of view of the situation, as I know that my boss would listen. • 37. Construction Of An Underground Network Of Tunnels Introduction In the 1850s over 400,000 tonnes of waste and sewage was being discharged into the River Thames each day. By 1858 the stench from the raw sewage around and within the Thames was named the Great Stink . It was a Civil Engineer named Joseph Bazalgette who proposed a plan of the creation of an underground network of tunnels, to put an end to the polluted river. His engineering feat has been improved and extended vastly but the Victorian Sewers still stand as London s primary sewer system. The sewers were designed to be a combined system meaning rainwater and waste were transported in the same manner. Bazalgette designed Combined Sewage Overflow (CSO) points along the Thames. The CSO s discharged the sewage and rainwater into the Thames after substantial rainfall, this prevented flooding the streets and houses. When designing the sewers, population increase was taken into consideration. (16) The underground system and factories were designed to treat and transfer sewage of up to double the population that was present when construction began. However the population of London almost quadrupled from 2.35 Million in 1850 (19) to 8.17 million in 2011(7). This drastic increase meant that the sewers were overloaded. The CSO s were overflowing with only 2mm of rainfall and on average discharging into the Thames around twice a week. Plastic components The plastic components of your hot tub must be maintained properly and regularly as well, so that they can last a very long period of time. The Safari Club Foundation uses private donations and other procurements to promote conservation and game preserves (Safari, n. d.). Monophobia, or the fear of being alone, can cause a person to conform. Whether it be to a majority, a small group, a single individual, or an idea, conforming is so frequent that it is often performed blindly. A common example of conformity is dress code within a workplace. If somebody sees their coworkers wearing a suit and tie, odds are that they will conform to this standard and dress the same way, in order to not stand out. So why exactly do we conform? Author Doris Lessing provides an answer to this question in her article, Group Minds. Lessing describes how westerners conform and how it affects their individuality. Social psychologist at Rutgers University, Solomon Asch provides similar ideas, but in a more scientific manner. In his article, Opinions and Social Pressure, Asch studies how men conform to the social pressures of a group. While each piece presents feasible information, Asch delivers said information in a more credible format. Lessing and Asch take different approaches to address this topic.
