Deforestation Analysis
To analyze the relationship between agricultural commodity prices, conservation policies and
deforestation in Colombia, a multiple regression model will be constructed to relate the changes in
forest cover (variable pending) by established period of time, tipping points in the policies
(independent variable ) and variation in the agricultural prices (control variable) (Assuncao et al.,
2015, Reyes Hernández et al., 2003). The following describes each of the variables to be analyzed in
the study:
Deforestation
Deforestation data will be collected from the platform Terra i. This is a near real time monitoring
system of land use and land cover change in Latin America and the Caribbean; it uses rainfall and
vegetation satellite data to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this sense, the report mentions that the departments with highest deforestation rates are: Caquetá
(20577 ha), Guaviare (5447 ha), Meta (4099 ha), Putumayo (3757 ha) and Norte de Santander (3441
ha). The Figure 1 shows the deforestation areas preliminary selected in red. The Caquetá, Guaviare
and Putumayo areas selected are located in the border of the Amazon region of Colombia, which is
part of one of the most important rain forest in the world. Meanwhile, the deforestation area selected
in Meta correspond at the border area of the national park Serranía de la Macarena. Finally, the Norte
de Santander area has cocoa, cassava, corn and palm oil crops.
Policies
For the measurement of the independent variable, forestry and conservation policies established in
Colombia in the last 20 years will be compiled. Policies that have implemented plans for reforestation
and control of deforestation will be selected. Subsequently, with the deforestation data obtained,
tipping points will be identified, between the establishment of the policy and the increase or decrease
of the deforestation rates of the country. These tipping points will allow to establish the specific
periods of time for the analysis.
Additionally, and considering that agricultural and livestock

Bartolome De Las Casas Just War Essay
During the conquest of the new world, the idea of varied culture was far from the minds of the
Spanish exploring the Americas . This lack of thought for other definitions of normal allows modern
readers to better understand the debate of the time: the moral obligations associated with subjugation
and conversion. Two Spanish theologians, Bartolomé de las Casas and Juan Gines de Sepulveda,
thought that their specific means for carrying out the tasks of evangelization and colonization were
superior to the other. Though no clear winner of the dispute over a just war was declared, their
argumentation continues to be discussed due to its relevancy. Sepulveda, a theologian who had never
before interacted with the Native Americans inhabiting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He states that the displays of the Spanish to convert through war, and their later exploitation of cheap
labor, under the premise of saving the few innocents in harms way was not enough to call for war
against a peaceful people, many of whom would be lost in the process. De Las Casas passionate
argument utilized the same secular philosopher as Sepulveda. He claimed improper assumption of
barbarianism and natural law. De Las Casas strove to make connections between the actions of the
native peoples and rational logic, though it is interesting to see a secular argument used to support a
religious cause. For example, human sacrifice was utilized to show that not only were the natives
turned towards a higher power, but that they were willing to quite literally sacrifice the most precious
gift , human life, for their deity. Finally, de Las Casas argues that war is not just due to the fact that
until they accept the Catholic faith, their souls are outside of the papal jurisdiction. Thus, de Las Casas
emotional argument towards Sepulveda s points sheds light on the varying opinions of the time in

Civil Government, By Henry David Thoreau
Citizen Obligation to Government The establishment of the United States of America s government
was of the people, by the people, for the people. In Resistance to Civil Government, Henry David
Thoreau through the supplementing of rhetoric devices perfectly argues the ineffectiveness of the
government. In addition to outlining the hypocrisy and corruption , Thoreau courageously dots the
short comings, responsibilities, as well as, expanding on effective and deliberate initiatives citizens
must initiate to implement a more stable and trustworthy government.
To start his argument, Thoreau explains the initial duties of the government permitted as a society.
From the start, the government was only the mode which the people have chosen to execute their will
is (said to be) equally liable to be abused and perverted before the people can act through it for it has
become run by a few individuals using it (the standing government) as their tool (Thoreau 843).
Thoreau, through the use of special diction such as inexpedient and chosen, explains the
ineffectiveness of the government, due to the fact that the will of the people no longer the main focus
of the government. In the point of view of Thoreau, it will greatly benefit the people to never allow
this government, run by few, to itself further any enterprise (Thoreau 843). Society as a whole must
reject any legislation founded on the benefit of the government alone. Thoreau uses anaphor as he list

Antigone Essay Throughout history, cultures from around the world has set hat standards for women
to abide to. Up until the twentieth century, women were viewed as second class citizens by society and
had less freedom and rights than their male counterparts as compare today in the modern world where
women can be more involve in society. Although women still face discrimination such as the glass

Creon would never in a million suspected Antigone to have broken his law because Creon views
women as being submissive to men and not brave enough to do such as a bold act. Once the Guard
capture Antigone caught in the act of trying to finish the burial of Polynieces, Creon is in disbelief
because the perpetrator of the crime is not a man but a girl. When Creon asks Antigone if she bury her
brother, she answers I admit I did it. I won t deny that. (Sophocles 500). She does not hesitate when
she tell Creon that she bury actually she proudly admits what she did and justify her act because it is
the will of the gods which upset Creon even more Here she again displays her proud contempt having
done the act, she boast of it (Sophocles 546 547). Creon does not even talk directly to Antigone at first
but face the Chorus Leader because is still in shock a girl would be brave enough to break the law and
disobey him. Later Creon and Antigone began to argue whether or not it is right or wrong for

Nether Portal Essay
How to Build a Nether Portal in Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition
If you have just started out in Minecraft, or if you are already into the game and have acquired Stone,
Iron, Diamonds ect. and you need to know how to build a nether portal, then this guide should help
you.
If you have just started out and you have nothing, and you say I really wanna work towards building a
nether portal as my main goal. the first thing you would need to do is start collecting wood. Now, if
you don t know how to collect wood, basically you walk up to a tree and hold down the right trigger
until the wood has broken, then you should have either picked it up or if you see it floating around the
ground walk over to it and it should appear in your inventory (press ... Show more content on

You must keep digging to find diamonds (this might take quite some time) . Once you find diamonds,
you will need to craft a diamond pickaxe. This is absolutely necessary because you cannot mine
obsidian with any other pickaxe.
You might now be thinking What s obsidian? . Obsidian is what you need to build the portal. Now you
will need to find or create this substance. To create it, you can pour water on top of lava with a bucket,
and to find it you will have to look near lava. You will need about 12 of these. The shape of the portal
is going to be a rectangle, standing up. On the bottom you will need 4, and then put 3 blocks on the
bottom left and right blocks, then two in between those two at the top.
The portal is not complete, though. You will need flint and steel. To craft this you need flint and iron.
To acquire flint you will need to dig gravel, which is found underground and in caves. After crafting
this, go to your portal and press the left trigger to light it. It should be purple inside of the rectangle,
which means that it worked. To go inside you just have to stand there until you appear in the Nether.
So obviously that means it worked. You have successfully created a nether

Organic Growth Walmart
Organic Growth at Walmart The latest trend or craze per say of the twenty first century has been that
of organic foods. The U.S market for organic food at one time was growing at a pace of 20% per year,
which is significantly greater as compared to the 3 4% of the food sector as a whole. This undeniable
growing demand in organic foods caught the attention of Douglas Degn, an executive vice president of
the wildly popular organization, Wal Mart. With the demand of organic products often outstripping
supply, Degn was faced with the decision of whether or not to jump on this shortage and give people
what they want out of organics from Wal Mart, or if he should continue to build on the products they
already offer to consumers, in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Organic consumers are not going to feel comfortable buying their premium organic foods from the
same place they could buy cheap home appliances, children s toys, or unfashionable clothing. What it
is recommended Wal Mart do in order to boost their sales is to improve the image of the products they
already have, so customers will buy more. The one area in which they could highly benefit improving
is their apparel, which is a higher margin section that is lagging behind in sales. By shifting into
selling more upscale, trendy clothes and housewares, Wal Mart would enable itself to appeal to higher
income consumers, possibly reaching out to that 15% of the population who do not shop at Wal Mart,
or even enticing current consumers to purchase these high margin products. They could accomplish
this by creating a fashion merchant position that would tour Wal Mart and competitors stores, and
suggest ways to adapt merchandise, floor plans and apparel to different groups. Degn should
reconsider the fact that Wal Marts business strategy of everyday low prices is what has made them
into the successful company they are today and shouldn t stray to far from what has made them
successful in order to increase profits. Degn should work on improving the products Wal Mart
currently sells instead of focusing on organic food, which is something they have never done before. If

Why Did Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Plagiarize
A Thief Observed:
Why Stephen Bertman s Work on Plagiarism is a Respectable Academic Source Did Sir Arthur Conan
Doyle plagiarize Edgar Allan Poe? This idea has been contested for over a century and has come to a
consensus that Doyle did indeed base Sherlock Holmes off of Poe s character known as C. Auguste
Dupin. In Stephen Bertman s, Kindred Crimes: Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue and Doyle s
The Sign of Four , he looks deeper into the debate by comparing Doyle s The Sign of Four to Poe s
The Murders in the Rue Morgue , and analyzing whether Doyle plagiarized Poe s plot. Bertman s
essay may be considerably short in length, but it does make a fair analysis on whether or not Doyle
plagiarized Poe. His essay s credibility as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bertman s essay does pose a few significant points, but lacks in originality. He does make the notion
that Doyle plagiarized Poe s plot from his short story, The Murders in the Rue Morgue and applied it
to his book, The Sign of Four, and while this point is notably significant, Bertman relies heavily on
others work to make it. This is shown when Bertman introduces a much older but still intriguing essay
by writing, In 1901 Simon Sidney Teiser, then an undergraduate at the University of Virginia, charged
him with piracy in a published essay provocatively title Is Doyle a Plagiarist? (208). By introducing
this essay, Bertman is further convincing the audience that Doyle is a plagiarist, but he neglects to go
any farther with that notion. Bertman fails to take a stance on the idea of Doyle s plagiarism, making
the essay a little muddled and confusing. The reader can not tell how Bertman truly feels about the
plagiarism. The mild influence, the heavy reliance on other sources, and the lack of stance all
contribute to Bertman s essay s significance and originality. This essay has a fair enough amount of
significance and originality, but there is room for major

Civility And Savagery In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness
Jazbeth Aguilar
AP Literature
December 8, 2017
Joseph Conrad, in his novel Heart of Darkness, uses the contrasting places of Europe and Africa in
order to represent opposed forces or ideas that are central to the entirety of the work. This journey
back in time, to a prehistoric earth illustrates Marlow s physical journey as well as relates to his
emotional and spiritual experience. Marlow characterizes events, ideas, and locations that he
encounters in terms of light or darkness. Marlow continuously equates light with knowledge and
civility and darkness with mystery and savagery. When he begins his narrative, Marlow evokes light
and, therefore, civility, with reality, believing it to be a tangible expression of man s natural state.
Similarly, Marlow uses darkness to depict savagery as a vice having escaped with nature. However, as
he proceeds deeper into the heart of the African jungle and begins to understand savagery as a
primitive form of civilization and, therefore, a reflection on his own reality, the metaphor shifts, until
the narrator raises his head at the end of the novel to discover that the Thames seemed to lead into the
heart of an immense darkness. The alteration of the light dark metaphor corresponds with Marlow s
awareness that the only reality, truth, or light about civilization is that it is, regardless of appearances,
is instead darkness.
Conrad uses light as a symbol of civilization. Just as darkness is defined as the absence of light, the

Summary Of Django Unchained
An auteur is a director that influences their films so that they can be considered as an author. Quentin
Tarantino is considered an author through his unique directorial film style, examples of Tarantino s
directorial film style are; his use of camera work especially with extreme close ups, bloody violence,
and long drawn out scenes. We have studied Quentin Tarantino s 2012 film Django Unchained, as well
as Tarantino s first box office movie Reservoir Dogs to analyse.
Quentin Tarantino uses camera work in both Django Unchained and Reservoir Dogs to display
character emotion. From what I had analysed I noticed that Tarantino s use of close up and mid shots
help the audience to examine the character s facial expression, from when Calvin Candie is showing
them the skull of an African, you can really see the pity in Dr. King Schultz s eyes and the anger in
Django s face, from Reservoir Dogs cafe scene, you can see each individual character s facial
expression, representing their personalities.
A scene in Django Unchained , that Tarantino applies great camera work is during the skull
examination scene , the scene featured Dr. King Schultz, Django, Calvin Candie, Stephen, and
Broomhilda. The scene opens up with a mid shot on Calvin Candie presenting to them an African
skull, the camera then shifts back and forth to Dr. King Schultz and Django. The camera provides us
with close up shots of both Dr. King Schultz and Django, presenting to us their emotions. Through the

Weaving In The Odyssey
Textile production is closely affiliated with the feminine realm of domesticated work. Spinning and
weaving were necessary skills women needed to learn in order to provide clothing and other woven
materials for their families (Reeder, 1995, 200). However, weaving was much more than a household
chore. Weaving can tell stories or be a means of communication. It can be used for trickery or making
a political statement. The different facets of weaving are highlighted by examining ancient primary
sources.
The act of weaving became so ingrained with female domesticity that it evolved into a symbolic ideal.
Women were praised in poems, plays, inscriptions, and other forms of media for their skills of wool

The band loom is needed to make the heading band which will be attached at the top of the warp
weighted loom (19:52). The warp threads hang down from the heading band (19:54). At the ends of
the warps are weights, usually made out of stone or clay, to weigh down the warps and cause tension
(20:20). The thread that passes across the warp is called the weft or woof (14:29). The wefts goes over
and under the warp threads forming a plain weave (Barber, 1994, 39). This is a tedious process which
can be sped up by using a shed rod (15:08). The shed rod is a stick that is connected to the warp
weighted loom and is placed in between the front and rear warp threads (19:57). A space then forms
between the front and rear warp threads called a shed (15:20). In the shed a shuttle, which is a tool that
holds the weft, can be inserted through the warp (15:30). To pass the weft back in the opposite

process of fooling. Fooling simply consist of washing and brushing (21:47). Because the cloth is made

On Turning Ten Analysis
We often don t realize the harmful aspects that come along with growing up. Billy Collins poem, On
Turning Ten elaborates on this idea and conveys how these aspects affect us. In his poem, the speaker
is about to turn the age of ten, making him realize he is no longer like his younger self. As the speaker
explains the frightening idea of turning ten, he also reminisces about his happy childhood. The speaker
then explains his sadness over losing the innocent part of his younger self and soon realizes the
difficulty of aging. By using metaphors and imagery, Collins communicates that as we lose our
innocence when we grow up, it negatively changes our perspective of maturity from an oblivious view
to a harsher point of view.
Early in the poem, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The metaphor, If you cut me I could shine shows an innocent belief by comparing a real cut with
blood to a fake cut with light shining. This metaphor reveals that earlier, by believing this, the speaker
was oblivious to reality s harm. However, due to the turning of ten, maturity is forcing the speaker to
get rid of these beliefs, so he can grow up and face the tougher reality of growing up. The metaphor,
sidewalks of life, shows the harsher reality of aging by comparing a sidewalk to life. Sidewalks are
usually hard, making it easy to get hurt. The metaphor communicates that life is hard, and it s full of
challenges, such as having to change our innocent beliefs to grow up. Maturity inflicts these changes
because, at a certain age, we are all expected to mature from our childhood and know the
consequences and harm in our reality. Maturity forces the speaker to realize that he now bleeds,
instead of shining from a cut like the speaker used to believe. However, the speaker cannot escape this
harsh reality of maturity, due to every time he falls, the bleeding will remind him that he bleeds and no
longer shines. By using these metaphors, the speaker shows how growing up has caused him to
change the perspective of his younger

it is to survive. This article is a narrative because he is telling his story of survival. It is a guide for
anyone that becomes in need of survival and has no other option. He definitely wanted to show his
struggle in everyday living and he stresses that people shouldn t take things for granted such as going
to the store and being able to buy food that is thrown out if not eaten. Rich or poor he is trying to
make a point that what we throw away everyday helps the less fortunate even if we don t realize it. It
shows how we throw things out that someone else could use and really need. His audience is the

Network Bandwidth And Data Upload Time
Though client side deduplication brings in advantages such as reduction of network bandwidth and
data upload time, several security threats are associated with it. These threats have to be addressed in
order to reap the full potential of client side deduplication. Halevi et al. [3] identified various threats
that affect a remote storage system that implements client side deduplication. First, in traditional
storage systems, privacy and confidentiality are compromised when an attacker learns the hash value
of a file and gains access to the entire file from the server. For example, Dropbox uses Secure Hash
Algorithm 256 (SHA256) in a straightforward manner; thus, it is possible for an attacker to obtain
hashes for confidential files of others. Using the hash, a hacker can easily download an unauthorized
file from the server. A practical way for performing this hack is demonstrated by the use of Dropship
application programming interface (API) utilities for Dropbox which allows a hacker to download
confidential files of others from Dropbox servers by obtaining the file hashes. This is comparatively
easy to obtain, and exploiting the weak client side deduplication technique that is applied [4]. Second,
if an attacker can access the server cache then all confidential hashes will be disclosed. Hence the
attacker can make the cloud storage service behave as a content distribution network (CDN) by
publishing the hacked hash values. In a case where the files hashes are published

Human Resources Analysis In the United States there are many labor laws that the cooperate world
must up hold by, these laws seem complicated but are actually quite simple once you break them
down. For instance, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938, as amended, provides for minimum
standard for that of both wages and overtime entitlements by employees, and spells out the
administrative procedures that needs to be taken by which covered all work time must be compensated

The employees in Illinois are classified as non exempt and receive hourly wages and then some are
classified as exempt, exempt employees are compensated by the means of annual salaries. The Fair
Labor Standards Act is administered and regulated by the United States Department of Labor s
Standards Administration s Hour and Wage Division. However, the Illinois Department of Labor
provides the following exempt and non exempt employees... Non exempt employee s duties consist of
driving vehicles, operating machinery, repairing equipment, bookkeeping, cashier work, food service
and preparation, delivering merchandise, and so on. Now those exempt employees duties consist of
items such as scheduling employees, hiring and firing employees, formulating personnel policies,
determining credit policies, determining staffing levels, assessing employee performance, making
company investment decisions and so on. As for the non exempt employees in Illinois are covered by
the Fair Labor Standards Act that requires employers to pay employees who are not otherwise exempt
at least the federally known minimum wage and overtime pay of one and one half times the regular
rates of pay. However, for those of nonagricultural operations, it comes to restrict the hours that
children under the age of 16 years old can work and forbid the employment of children under the age
of 18 years old in certain jobs that are and maybe deemed too dangerous for them to handle.

These changes in disposable income impacts the cable industry s subscriber numbers through
subscriber churn (subscriber leaving) and premium services churn (dropping and adding premium

one of the macroeconomic variables that directly impacts the revenue stream of cable operators. Like
most industries that maintain fleets of vehicle the escalating cost of fuel has an immediate impact on
the bottom line. As a service providers and the owner of the infrastructure one of our largest costs is
related to the installation of our services and hardware. In most cases after a new customer orders
service the company rolls a truck. A truck roll requires that a technician is scheduled to drive to the
customers home, connect their home to our plant, install the ordered product into the customers home,
activate the product and do onsite training of the customer. The escalating cost of fuel directly
increases the cost of truck rolls which depending on installer status (employee or contractor) is on
average a $150.00. In most cases the company does not charge an install fee for this truck roll so the
cost is added to the ROI (Return on Investment) that is calculated for each customer. Interest rates also

Sheila Priestley s Play Sheila
Advice to An Actor Playing Sheila
When creating the character Sheila Priestley s aim was to show the audience that the younger
generation of Birlings, and therefore the younger generation of society, were the ones who were the
most forward thinking and were the most likely to agree with a policy of socialism. Sheila is also used
as a means to highlight the stupidity and selfishness of Mr and Mrs Birling and Gerald. The play
begins with the Birling family celebrating the engagement of Sheila and Gerald. Despite the fact that
Sheila is an adult, her family are seen to treat her as a child. This should be reflected in the way that
the actress presents Sheila, as this is likely to be a response to her immature personality. The actress
must also be aware that during 1912 women were subordinate to men, therefore it must be clear that
Sheila has a lower position of power than her finance Gerald. This opening scene has a celebratory
mood, therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The actress should try to show that deep down Sheila is upset about the fact that Gerald never came to
see her. This line also plays a crucial role in highlighting to the audience that the relationship between
Gerald and Sheila is not as happy as it had previously seemed. When Sheila first finds out the news of
Eva Smith s death she is visibly distressed and horrified. Despite the upsetting news, the actress needs
to make it clear that Sheila is vein and is still ignorant to the lower classes. This is due to the fact that
on of the first questions about Eva s death is regarding her appearance pretty? . To Sheila the fact that
Eva was pretty is what makes her death even more upsetting. Therefore Sheila believes that a woman s
value comes from how pretty they

Effect Of Stress On The Rail Ballast
Ahlbeck et al. (as cited in Sun Dhanasekar 2002)[4] point out that that stress distribution (stress
response) under concrete sleeper is Trapezoidal shape uniformly until the foundation as demonstrated
in Figure 2.1.1 and the stress distribution angle (internal friction angle) of the rail ballast has effect on
the stiffness the damping of the upper and the lower divisions of the rail ballast.
Based on this theory, Ahlbeck et al. initiated their model (Lumped mass model) which represents only
the vertical effect of the sleeper and the ballast as shown in Figure 2.1.2. This model cannot be used in
high frequency vibration[5]. Also, Ahlbeck et al. (as cited in Sun Dhanasekar 2002)[4] find formulas
for determining the stiffness value Kbl as well as the mass of the Trapezoidal part of the rail ballast
under a sleeper Mbl as: where θb is internal friction angle of the rail ballast (Ahlbeck et al.
recommended 20o), ρb is the rail ballast density, Eb is modulus of elasticity of the rail ballast in
N/m2,Bs, Ls, are width and length of the rail sleeper and Hb is the high of the rail ballast as shown in
Figure 2.1.1. Furthermore, Ahlbeck et al. (as cited in Sun Dhanasekar 2002)[4] determine the values
of sub ballast mass Msb, stiffness Ksb and subgrade stiffness Ksg as: where θsb is internal friction
angle of the sub ballast (35o as suggested by Ahlbeck et al.), ρsb is the sub ballast density, Esb is
modulus of elasticity of the sub ballast in N/m2, Esg is modulus of elasticity

Gun Control And The Rights Of A Free State
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep

Americans we are afforded certain rights that are upheld by the United States constitution, and many
citizens believe these rights to be part of our nation s heritage, or the birthright as Americans.
Conversely there are those which are opposed to some of these birthrights which were added to the
nation s constitution almost two hundred and thirty years ago. Although gun control is a major topic
concerning Americans and their rights, it is not always on the forefront of the many issues in today s

Later, in 1938, The Federal Firearms Act was put in place which further restricted the state to states
movement of firearms. This new law prevented those convicted and without proper permits from
obtaining guns, but there were no consequences to those who sold guns to these people. More and
more firearm restriction acts were passed like the Federal Firearms Act of 1938, The Gun Control Act
of 1968, and the Brady Bill in efforts to regulate the sale, manufacturing, and purchase of firearms.
Opponents of strict gun laws often reference the Bill of Rights, specifically the Second Amendment.
Although the Bill of Rights gives Americans certain freedoms, it does not mean Americans are not
without certain regulations. Each state has its own constitution, and in each constitution limits can be
added to certain freedoms to ensure the safety of its people. For example, Florida, Georgia and Texas
constitutions allow its citizens to carry arms as a means of self protection, but it always states that this
freedom shall be regulated by the authority of the government. Even though all states feel guns need
to be regulated many disagree in which way regulations are set. There are an estimated twenty
thousand local, state, and federal gun laws currently regulating firearms in the United States (Gold,
2004).

The aim of this chapter is to review relevant academic literature in the area of supply chain flexibility,
it will show the different views of various academics on the concept of supply chain flexibility and its
dimensions. This chapter will also examine the following research questions; the effect of
environmental uncertainty has on supply chain flexibility, the impact of Supply chain efficiency and

productivity will be identified.
5.1 Views on supply chain flexibility
5.1.1 Basic concepts
Supply chain management has become an important issue in today s business world, it is used by
many companies to improve their competitive advantage (Vickery, Calantone Droge, 1999). In a
supply chain, the customer is the most impart part and seeing that every company seeks to please their
customers, supply chain management therefore helps companies in satisfying the needs of the
customer which involves the management of various aspects such as manufacturing, suppliers,
transportation, information and retailers to deliver value to the customers (Chopra Meindl, 2007).

Britain s Economic Consequences Of The British Exit From...
Over the last few years, the probability that Britain may leave the EU has grown. Prime Minister of
the United Kingdom David Cameron announced a referendum concerning British membership in the
EU to be held on June 23. Essentially not all the changes, which may occur, can be reduced to the
question of money, since the problem has a strong political context. Still, this essay is mainly focused
on economic aspects of the possible exit. Many experts regard the EU membership as generally
beneficial for the UK; still there are some significant drawbacks. At the same time, there are factors
that limit any possible prediction of the economic consequences of the British exit from the European
Union. Nonetheless, in this work main areas affected by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most studies assume that movement of capital remains free while movement of labour is usually not
explored. In addition there are also some less important considerations which all together lead to
significant ambiguity for any research in this topic.
One of the most visible benefit of the membership in the EU is the absence of trade tariffs between its
members. However non European markets are becoming more important for British producers
because of the stagnation of the Eurozone economy and economic growth of the other region
especially Asian one. Main claim against membership in the EU is that Britain sells much more goods
to the EU than buys. Still this is barely a good reason to leave the Union. Mainly the EU s trade
surplus is accounted by only two counties: Germany and Netherlands, so the UK will not be able to
dictate its terms after exit (Sprinford, Tilford and Whyte, 2014). In addition open market with the EU
counties boosts the UK s economy providing more labour and capital for producers. If Britain
withdrew from full membership some options may take place in trading relations. Researchers mostly
agree that British exit will directly cut the UK s income from trade in the case of any not free trade
agreements. However, the new free trade agreement seems likely to take place.
Fiscal contribution is usually regarded as an

Representation Of Hamlet
The theatrical representation of Hamlet is one of mystery, action, character development, but most
importantly, tragedy. A considerable amount of people hold a common belief that the play, Hamlet, by
William Shakespeare is a tragedy, due to the fact that all the main characters perish at the end of the
play. An individual might take this stance on this argument upon first hearing. However, the reality of
the situation is that there are numerous parts of the play that show that this statement is not only
incorrect, but an oversimplified version of the bigger truth. Further investigation into this topic will
reveal that, in fact, the decisions the characters make throughout the duration of the play is where the
true tragedy builds up. At first, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As with Ophelia s tragedy, Laertes suffers a tragedy of being deceived and used by Claudius as a
result of Hamlet s impulsive behavior as well, further assuring that the tragedy exhibits itself in the
conclusions drawn by the characters in the story. The tragedy inside Laertes that is the causation of
Hamlet s killing of Polonius is evident through the scene where Laertes confronts Claudius on why he
did not punish Hamlet for his malicious act. Claudius then goes on to trick Laertes into plotting
against Hamlet, and Laertes proclaims, And so I have a noble father lost;/A sister driven into desperate
terms/Whose worth. if praises may go back again,/Stood challenger on mount of all the age/For her
perfections. But my revenge will come (4.7.27 31.) At this moment in time, it can be seen that while
Laertes expresses his emotions of rage, he is being manipulated by Claudius, as well as how the
dramatic purpose shows character development, as the tragic outcome of being tricked like this for
personal gain stems from that of how Hamlet s actions had resulted in the loss of his father, which was
ultimately one of Hamlet s rash decisions. Upon closer look, the place where tragedy lies is not only
where all the characters die, but where the outcomes of the decisions the characters make throughout
the course of the play, such as when Hamlet commits homicide towards Polonius, or how Claudius
can cause tragedies with the way he lives his as

Ammu has been through many struggles such as being abused by her husband, divorcing her husband,

Amd Remediation At Shoup s Run Watershed
AMD Remediation at Shoup s Run Watershed
Alanna O Neil
Introduction:
The main pollutant of surface water in the mid Atlantic region is Acid Mine Drainage, AMD, also
called Abandoned Mine Drainage. AMD is a nonpoint source pollution that has degraded more than
4,500 stream miles, in just the mid Atlantic region, due to the drainage of metal rich water from
mining activities (Jacobs). The runoff is extremely acidic due to the exposure of pyrite containing
rocks, a sulfur bearing mineral (FeS2), during mining activities, and the chemical reactions associated
with the contact of air and water with such rocks. As a result of such chemical reactions, sulfuric acid
(H2SO4) is produced. Several chemical reactions take place and are as follows: 1. 2FeS2(s) + 7O2 (g)
+2H2O(l) → 2Fe2+(aq) + 4SO4 2(aq) + 4H+(aq) 2. 4Fe2+(aq) + O2 (g) + 4H+(aq) → 4Fe3+(aq) +
2H2O(l) 3. 4Fe3+(aq) + 12H2O(l) → 4Fe(OH)3 (s) + 12H+(aq) The 3 reactions combine to be:
4FeS2(s) + 15O2 (g) +14H2O(l) → 4Fe(OH)3 (s) + 8SO4 2(aq) + 16H+(aq) The first reaction
involves pyrite rock reacting with oxygen (air) and water to produce dissolved ferrous iron, sulfate,
and acidity. The second reaction oxidizes the dissolved ferrous iron in acidic conditions and produces
ferric iron and water. The third reaction involves the hydrolysis of the ferric iron to form ferric
hydroxide and more acid. The ferric hydroxide is the orangey red colored solid you see in the water
(Juniata College). Due to mines from the 1800s

This approach to risk assessment is amplified by Joseph and Dianne Devanney (2002),
It is not enough to just design pleasant and attractive surroundings. In developing the necessary
proactive protections against lawsuits, everyone has to be as diUgent as possible and try to foresee
how the design could lead to accidents. Other articles also recommend that course owners put out
highly visible signs in areas where golf cart users must, cross public roadways or make slow turns, etc.
Make sure you have great signage and poUce it, he says. If you see someone violating that rule, stop
them and get them out of the cart.
The attorneys dted also mentioned incidences where golf carts have been struck by automobiles with
the parties being severely injured. Such situations can create catastrophic liability exposures for a golf
course. If they have golf cart paths that cross public roadways, they really need to be well marked
rumble sticks, stop signs. Golf clubs really need to do a good job making that a more defensible
situation.
Safety measure implementation and recent areas of injury
In implementing safety measures regarding car paths, it is best to insure they are properly designed,
and constructed using materials that will last based given anticipated climate conditions. The

Why Is Porphyria s Suicide Under Temporary Insanity
The Insanity Behind Love: A Case About Temporary Insanity
There has been many court cases where a mentally ill individual commits a killing without the notion
of harming their victim because, they lacked the perception to think logically when they re found
under overwhelming emotion. The poem Porphyria s Lover, by Robert Browning describes the crime
scene where the narrator felt compelled to kill his mistress named Porphyria in spite of her
demonstration of affection and care. Yet, there is enough evidence to illustrate that the suspect was
actually under temporary insanity since he revealed signs of emotional distress concerning his place
with Porphyria. The narrator in Porphyria s lover is not guilty by the plea of temporary insanity; he

prohibiting love illustrates that he is fact was mentally unstable at the time of murder, for a sane

that he causes in Porphyria is due to the fact that he perceived that she didn t feel any pain thus,
illustrating that he does not have the mentally to reason the consequences and the harm that he
induced upon his victim. Remarkably, the narrator also demonstrates to have antisocial personally

Antisocial Personality Disorder Essay
Abstract
People have always been curious on what makes a serial killer; after all, it is difficult to imagine
murdering multiple people and not feeling an ounce of guilt or emotion afterwards. In severe cases,
this is what a person having antisocial personality disorder is capable of. Infamous serial killers such
as Jeffrey Dahmer and Charles Manson were believed to have this disorder. Personality disorders in
general can range from mild to severe in the afflicter s actions, but antisocial PD is arguably one of the
most dangerous seen in human behavior history. This report will describe the symptoms, suspected

Sadly less than half of people diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder are treated (National
Institute of Mental Health, 2016). To diagnose someone with this disorder, the patient must be at least
18 years old and have displayed these previous symptoms listed before they were 15 years old. They
will need to go through a physical exam first to make sure there is not another cause of their
behaviors, lab tests such as blood work to find possible drug use, and finally a psychological exam,
which can be difficult since they lie very often (Mayo Clinic, 2013). Family members or friends may
be needed to paint an accurate picture of the patient s daily life because in order to be diagnosed, the
patient needs to have displayed these personalities daily, not just in manic episodes (National Health

Milkshake Recipe Review Essay
Almond Chocolate Milkshake Recipe Review Hi, girls! I wish you lots of love and health! In this post,
I would like to feature an Almond Chocolate Milkshake recipe that I found in the book, Eat Beautiful
by Wendy Rowe. It is a milkshake that tastes heavenly and sinful at the same time! The end product
looked beautiful, and I found it to cheer me up for the remainder of my evening after I finished it. The
below recipe is featured on p. 66 67 of Eat Beautiful by Wendy Rowe and the almond chocolate
milkshake pictures looks so scrumptious and naughty! I would also recommend this drink for those
who need magnesium (this is present in the cacao powder). Almond Chocolate Milkshake Recipe:

Deforestation Analysis To analyze the relationship between agricultural commodity prices, conservation policies and deforestation in Colombia, a multiple regression model will be constructed to relate the changes in forest cover (variable pending) by established period of time, tipping points in the policies (independent variable ) and variation in the agricultural prices (control variable) (Assuncao et al., 2015, Reyes Hernández et al., 2003). The following describes each of the variables to be analyzed in the study: Deforestation Deforestation data will be collected from the platform Terra i. • 3. Bartolome De Las Casas Just War Essay During the conquest of the new world, the idea of varied culture was far from the minds of the Spanish exploring the Americas . This lack of thought for other definitions of normal allows modern readers to better understand the debate of the time: the moral obligations associated with subjugation and conversion. Two Spanish theologians, Bartolomé de las Casas and Juan Gines de Sepulveda, thought that their specific means for carrying out the tasks of evangelization and colonization were superior to the other. Though no clear winner of the dispute over a just war was declared, their argumentation continues to be discussed due to its relevancy. Sepulveda, a theologian who had never before interacted with the Native Americans inhabiting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states that the displays of the Spanish to convert through war, and their later exploitation of cheap labor, under the premise of saving the few innocents in harms way was not enough to call for war against a peaceful people, many of whom would be lost in the process. De Las Casas passionate argument utilized the same secular philosopher as Sepulveda. He claimed improper assumption of barbarianism and natural law. De Las Casas strove to make connections between the actions of the native peoples and rational logic, though it is interesting to see a secular argument used to support a religious cause. For example, human sacrifice was utilized to show that not only were the natives turned towards a higher power, but that they were willing to quite literally sacrifice the most precious gift , human life, for their deity. Finally, de Las Casas argues that war is not just due to the fact that until they accept the Catholic faith, their souls are outside of the papal jurisdiction. • 4. Civil Government, By Henry David Thoreau Citizen Obligation to Government The establishment of the United States of America s government was of the people, by the people, for the people. In Resistance to Civil Government, Henry David Thoreau through the supplementing of rhetoric devices perfectly argues the ineffectiveness of the government. In addition to outlining the hypocrisy and corruption , Thoreau courageously dots the short comings, responsibilities, as well as, expanding on effective and deliberate initiatives citizens must initiate to implement a more stable and trustworthy government. To start his argument, Thoreau explains the initial duties of the government permitted as a society. From the start, the government was only the mode which the people have chosen to execute their will is (said to be) equally liable to be abused and perverted before the people can act through it for it has become run by a few individuals using it (the standing government) as their tool (Thoreau 843). Thoreau, through the use of special diction such as inexpedient and chosen, explains the ineffectiveness of the government, due to the fact that the will of the people no longer the main focus of the government. In the point of view of Thoreau, it will greatly benefit the people to never allow this government, run by few, to itself further any enterprise (Thoreau 843). Society as a whole must reject any legislation founded on the benefit of the government alone. Thoreau uses anaphor as he list the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now you will need to find or create this substance. To create it, you can pour water on top of lava with a bucket, and to find it you will have to look near lava. You will need about 12 of these. The shape of the portal is going to be a rectangle, standing up. On the bottom you will need 4, and then put 3 blocks on the bottom left and right blocks, then two in between those two at the top. The portal is not complete, though. You will need flint and steel. To craft this you need flint and iron. To acquire flint you will need to dig gravel, which is found underground and in caves. After crafting this, go to your portal and press the left trigger to light it. It should be purple inside of the rectangle, which means that it worked. To go inside you just have to stand there until you appear in the Nether. So obviously that means it worked. You have successfully created a nether ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This undeniable growing demand in organic foods caught the attention of Douglas Degn, an executive vice president of the wildly popular organization, Wal Mart. What it is recommended Wal Mart do in order to boost their sales is to improve the image of the products they already have, so customers will buy more. The one area in which they could highly benefit improving is their apparel, which is a higher margin section that is lagging behind in sales. By shifting into selling more upscale, trendy clothes and housewares, Wal Mart would enable itself to appeal to higher income consumers, possibly reaching out to that 15% of the population who do not shop at Wal Mart, or even enticing current consumers to purchase these high margin products. They could accomplish this by creating a fashion merchant position that would tour Wal Mart and competitors stores, and suggest ways to adapt merchandise, floor plans and apparel to different groups. Degn should reconsider the fact that Wal Marts business strategy of everyday low prices is what has made them into the successful company they are today and shouldn t stray to far from what has made them successful in order to increase profits. Degn should work on improving the products Wal Mart currently sells instead of focusing on organic food, which is something they have never done before. If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This idea has been contested for over a century and has come to a consensus that Doyle did indeed base Sherlock Holmes off of Poe s character known as C. Auguste Dupin. In Stephen Bertman s, Kindred Crimes: Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue and Doyle s The Sign of Four , he looks deeper into the debate by comparing Doyle s The Sign of Four to Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue , and analyzing whether Doyle plagiarized Poe s plot. He does make the notion that Doyle plagiarized Poe s plot from his short story, The Murders in the Rue Morgue and applied it to his book, The Sign of Four, and while this point is notably significant, Bertman relies heavily on others work to make it. This is shown when Bertman introduces a much older but still intriguing essay by writing, In 1901 Simon Sidney Teiser, then an undergraduate at the University of Virginia, charged him with piracy in a published essay provocatively title Is Doyle a Plagiarist? (208). By introducing this essay, Bertman is further convincing the audience that Doyle is a plagiarist, but he neglects to go any farther with that notion. Bertman fails to take a stance on the idea of Doyle s plagiarism, making the essay a little muddled and confusing. The reader can not tell how Bertman truly feels about the plagiarism. • 13. Civility And Savagery In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness Jazbeth Aguilar AP Literature December 8, 2017 Joseph Conrad, in his novel Heart of Darkness, uses the contrasting places of Europe and Africa in order to represent opposed forces or ideas that are central to the entirety of the work. This journey back in time, to a prehistoric earth illustrates Marlow s physical journey as well as relates to his emotional and spiritual experience. Marlow characterizes events, ideas, and locations that he encounters in terms of light or darkness. Marlow continuously equates light with knowledge and civility and darkness with mystery and savagery. When he begins his narrative, Marlow evokes light and, therefore, civility, with reality, believing it to be a tangible expression of man s natural state. Similarly, Marlow uses darkness to depict savagery as a vice having escaped with nature. However, as he proceeds deeper into the heart of the African jungle and begins to understand savagery as a primitive form of civilization and, therefore, a reflection on his own reality, the metaphor shifts, until the narrator raises his head at the end of the novel to discover that the Thames seemed to lead into the heart of an immense darkness. The alteration of the light dark metaphor corresponds with Marlow s awareness that the only reality, truth, or light about civilization is that it is, regardless of appearances, is instead darkness. Conrad uses light as a symbol of civilization. Just as darkness is defined as the absence of light, the black ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quentin Tarantino is considered an author through his unique directorial film style, examples of Tarantino s directorial film style are; his use of camera work especially with extreme close ups, bloody violence, and long drawn out scenes. We have studied Quentin Tarantino s 2012 film Django Unchained, as well as Tarantino s first box office movie Reservoir Dogs to analyse. Quentin Tarantino uses camera work in both Django Unchained and Reservoir Dogs to display character emotion. From what I had analysed I noticed that Tarantino s use of close up and mid shots help the audience to examine the character s facial expression, from when Calvin Candie is showing them the skull of an African, you can really see the pity in Dr. King Schultz s eyes and the anger in Django s face, from Reservoir Dogs cafe scene, you can see each individual character s facial expression, representing their personalities. A scene in Django Unchained , that Tarantino applies great camera work is during the skull examination scene , the scene featured Dr. King Schultz, Django, Calvin Candie, Stephen, and Broomhilda. The scene opens up with a mid shot on Calvin Candie presenting to them an African skull, the camera then shifts back and forth to Dr. King Schultz and Django. The different facets of weaving are highlighted by examining ancient primary sources. The act of weaving became so ingrained with female domesticity that it evolved into a symbolic ideal. In his poem, the speaker is about to turn the age of ten, making him realize he is no longer like his younger self. As the speaker explains the frightening idea of turning ten, he also reminisces about his happy childhood. The speaker then explains his sadness over losing the innocent part of his younger self and soon realizes the difficulty of aging. By using metaphors and imagery, Collins communicates that as we lose our innocence when we grow up, it negatively changes our perspective of maturity from an oblivious view to a harsher point of view. Early in the poem, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The metaphor, If you cut me I could shine shows an innocent belief by comparing a real cut with blood to a fake cut with light shining. This metaphor reveals that earlier, by believing this, the speaker was oblivious to reality s harm. However, due to the turning of ten, maturity is forcing the speaker to get rid of these beliefs, so he can grow up and face the tougher reality of growing up. The metaphor, sidewalks of life, shows the harsher reality of aging by comparing a sidewalk to life. Sidewalks are usually hard, making it easy to get hurt. The metaphor communicates that life is hard, and it s full of challenges, such as having to change our innocent beliefs to grow up. Maturity inflicts these changes because, at a certain age, we are all expected to mature from our childhood and know the consequences and harm in our reality. Maturity forces the speaker to realize that he now bleeds, instead of shining from a cut like the speaker used to believe. However, the speaker cannot escape this harsh reality of maturity, due to every time he falls, the bleeding will remind him that he bleeds and no longer shines. By using these metaphors, the speaker shows how growing up has caused him to change the perspective of his younger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Network Bandwidth And Data Upload Time Though client side deduplication brings in advantages such as reduction of network bandwidth and data upload time, several security threats are associated with it. These threats have to be addressed in order to reap the full potential of client side deduplication. Halevi et al. [3] identified various threats that affect a remote storage system that implements client side deduplication. First, in traditional storage systems, privacy and confidentiality are compromised when an attacker learns the hash value of a file and gains access to the entire file from the server. For example, Dropbox uses Secure Hash Algorithm 256 (SHA256) in a straightforward manner; thus, it is possible for an attacker to obtain hashes for confidential files of others. Using the hash, a hacker can easily download an unauthorized file from the server. A practical way for performing this hack is demonstrated by the use of Dropship application programming interface (API) utilities for Dropbox which allows a hacker to download confidential files of others from Dropbox servers by obtaining the file hashes. This is comparatively easy to obtain, and exploiting the weak client side deduplication technique that is applied [4]. Second, if an attacker can access the server cache then all confidential hashes will be disclosed. Hence the attacker can make the cloud storage service behave as a content distribution network (CDN) by publishing the hacked hash values. In a case where the files hashes are published ... One of the most visible benefit of the membership in the EU is the absence of trade tariffs between its members. However non European markets are becoming more important for British producers because of the stagnation of the Eurozone economy and economic growth of the other region especially Asian one. Main claim against membership in the EU is that Britain sells much more goods to the EU than buys. Still this is barely a good reason to leave the Union. Mainly the EU s trade surplus is accounted by only two counties: Germany and Netherlands, so the UK will not be able to dictate its terms after exit (Sprinford, Tilford and Whyte, 2014). In addition open market with the EU counties boosts the UK s economy providing more labour and capital for producers. The novel The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy is about overcoming the struggles of life, and reveals that you truly meet success when you push through the obstacles. 2. A passage that I have found in this section that supports my theme is, as Estha stirred the thick jam he thought Two Thoughts, and the Two Thoughts he thought were these two: (a) Anything can happen to Anyone. and (b) It s best to be prepared (Roy 186). In this quote, Estha was referring to the harassment event that occurred with him to the Orangedrink Lemondrink Man. Estha had learned from this event that you always need to be ready for everything, and anything can happen to anyone (Roy 186). The event with Estha is a struggle because at first Estha was mentally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She wanted her body back. It was hers (Roy 211). In this passage, Estha and Rahel were cuddling with their mom and admiring her stretch marks, until Ammu got embarrassed and shrugged them off her. Firstly, the event with Ammu is a struggle since she is beginning to lack self confidence in herself as she is picking on her imperfections. This quote supports my theme because currently in the story Ammu has been through many struggles such as being abused by her husband, divorcing her husband, not having a home for her children etc. Every time Ammu just took the disrespect she got from society and never stood up for herself. Ammu never appreciated herself as the evidence shows, which also had an effect on her behaviour towards her children. In the last chapter when Estha and Rahel were not replying back to Margaret Kochamma, Ammu got very mad at them and was being very disrespectful, despite the fact that she could have dealt with it better (Roy 98). If Ammu as mentioned before stood up for herself and overcame the obstacles through her life, she could have had a better future where she is successful and able to support herself and her ... • 40. Amd Remediation At Shoup s Run Watershed AMD Remediation at Shoup s Run Watershed Alanna O Neil Introduction: The main pollutant of surface water in the mid Atlantic region is Acid Mine Drainage, AMD, also called Abandoned Mine Drainage. AMD is a nonpoint source pollution that has degraded more than 4,500 stream miles, in just the mid Atlantic region, due to the drainage of metal rich water from mining activities (Jacobs). The runoff is extremely acidic due to the exposure of pyrite containing rocks, a sulfur bearing mineral (FeS2), during mining activities, and the chemical reactions associated with the contact of air and water with such rocks. As a result of such chemical reactions, sulfuric acid (H2SO4) is produced. Several chemical reactions take place and are as follows: 1. 2FeS2(s) + 7O2 (g) +2H2O(l) → 2Fe2+(aq) + 4SO4 2(aq) + 4H+(aq) 2. 4Fe2+(aq) + O2 (g) + 4H+(aq) → 4Fe3+(aq) + 2H2O(l) 3. 4Fe3+(aq) + 12H2O(l) → 4Fe(OH)3 (s) + 12H+(aq) The 3 reactions combine to be: 4FeS2(s) + 15O2 (g) +14H2O(l) → 4Fe(OH)3 (s) + 8SO4 2(aq) + 16H+(aq) The first reaction involves pyrite rock reacting with oxygen (air) and water to produce dissolved ferrous iron, sulfate, and acidity. The second reaction oxidizes the dissolved ferrous iron in acidic conditions and produces ferric iron and water. The third reaction involves the hydrolysis of the ferric iron to form ferric hydroxide and more acid. The ferric hydroxide is the orangey red colored solid you see in the water (Juniata College). Due to mines from the 1800s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
