6. The 2018 World Cup is the first World Cup where VAR is used.
First there was Goal Line Technology, now there is video support.
7. The video referees are able to communicate with the referee
in the field using a fiber-based radio system, while 33 cameras
made with electronic components and two off-camera
will transmit images directly to the control room using
the same network.
In the event of an incident, the referees must let the
game play so as not to disturb the game if there was
nothing to whistle. They can then decide when
the action ends and ask for help from the video.
Eight of his streams are dedicated to super-slow
motion, and four to an ultra-slow motion.
For the playoff games, there are two additional
ultra-slow-motion cameras.
During this World Cup it happened during the match
of France against Australia. The referee had left before
requesting the use of the VAR.
HowdoesVARwork?
8. This technology raises mixed opinions.
Some believe that it may break the pace of the matches, some asking that the system
be redesigned, others simply asking for its withdrawal and others believe
that this system will end the controversial decisions.

time video. The videos are broadcast with an offset of thirty seconds, with statistics
such as positioning data, passes, pressings, speed or tackles.
The EPTS operate using a camera system made of electronic parts and portable
technologies. For the World Cup, data was collected via two optical tracking cameras
located on the main stand.
