2. UK Creative
Industries - 2019
I can see that the creative industries is a big
employer with 2.1million people employed and
61,000 new jobs in 2019.The sector is growing
with a 2.7x jobs increase across the UK.
Although this is a positive move overall for the
UK the North East often gets left behind with
only 2.7% of the industry operating there
compared to London's 33%.This means that due
to the lack of opportunities even though they
might be increasing it is easier and there are
more opportunities for creatives down South
meaning they would have to relocate for work.
3. Uk Creative
Industries
VALUE
The value of the creative industries has a real impact on the UK
economy generating £115.9 billion in the year of 2019.As this data
is from over 5 years ago, I believe this number has increased with
the boom in streaming and social media in recent years, I believe
that the value of the creative industries will continue on the
increase and continue to bring value to the UK economy.
4. Changes in Industry
Crown Works Studios
A recent major development in Sunderland
and the industry is the recent grant of Crown
Works Studios. This will not only benefit the
local economy but the industry as a whole.
With the planning permission granted on
26th March 2024 with the studios set to be
completed in 2027.Providing 8,450 new jobs
in the region as well as contributing £336
million to the north east per year. The
studios will also create a further 12,000 jobs
nationwide and contribute £759 million to
the total Uk economy.
5. Rate Cards
This is an example of an expected rate card for theatre freelancers with
the union of Bectu. The "ask for" rate is a lot higher than the minimum
rate as it means that the freelancer is able to negociate their rate with a
company and by starting at a higher rate it means that the freelancer is
less likely to be paid unfairly and
