Hushpuppy Vs Potnette
Film has a way of presenting the journey in which a character embarks upon. The perspective from
which the story is told is strongly attached to the dramatization of the journey within the film. The two
films, Ponette and Beasts of a Southern Wild bear similarities in the way the relationship between the
father figure and main characters unfold. However the differences between the way Ponette and
Hushpuppy come to terms with the death of their loved ones are profound. Ponette uses her emotions
to guide her whereas Hushpuppy uses her instincts.
Even though Ponette and Hushpuppy deal with what life hands them differently, though, a constant in
both films is the absentee parents. Although the fathers do care for their daughters, they have strange

At one point he was even violent to Hush Puppy. The film Beasts of the Southern Wild is about a six
year old girl who lives in a southern community known as the Bathtub with her father. At first it
appears that Wink is neglectful and mean but that is not the case. In the community in which they live
everyone, even children, must know the cruel truths of the world to survive. Due to Wink s illness he
especially wants Hushpuppy to learn to live without him. The idea of not crying is heard throughout
the film as crying is the symbol of weakness. One example in the film where Hushpuppy uses instinct
as guidance, is is by trying to fix the things that s broken because she feels it is her fault. In this scene
Hushpuppy wishes her father death then hits him. As soon as he falls, a storm starts. Unlike Ponette s
mother already being dead, Hushpuppy is watching her father suffer as his health worsens. All of the
feelings, guilt, sadness, uncertainty and fear are all tied together. Hushpuppy frequently encounters
sickness and death in the community that she lives in, however there is a deeper hurt in her. You can
hear it in her voice You think I don t see , and see it in her eyes as she sees her father fading

Social Media Has An Inopportune Impact On Society
Technology has been improving yearly and has now become part of many people s life. Humans have
become dependent on technology for many things like to communicate, to learn, to create things, to
advertise, the list is endless. Access to the internet has become easier even in underdeveloped
countries. This means that almost anyone can post, share, comment, and do many different functions
that social media allows to do.
Considering that technology is easy to access and that people depend on it, it is almost impossible to
not have a controversial conversation over it. Some people believe that posting on social media has an
inopportune impact on society. However, there are a lot of positive impacts social media has on
society. Social media bring people together and helps society in a lot of ways. Posting to social media
comes with responsibilities since what is posted could not be taken lightly by someone else however,
there should be no fear in posting since the freedom to do so is there for the taking and can benefit in
many ways. First and foremost, social media was made to share ideas. In order to share ideas a way
for things to be published and seen by others had to be created. Social media is defined as the ability
to use the internet to share and communicate instantly with others (historycooperative.org). The
developers of social media applications such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and many
more, found a way to make this possible. In Facebook and

Rhetorical Analysis Of How To Tame A Wild Tongue
Blah Blah Blah Title In How to Tame a Wild Tongue, Gloria Anzaldua uses rhetoric and personal
anecdotes to convey and persuade her argument that Latin Americans are forced to relinquish their
cultural heritage, and to conform to white society. The evidence she provides comes in a variety of
platforms, both literal and rhetorical. Rhetorical, being through emotional, logical, and credible
appeals through her text. Literal being explicitly stated, without any further analysis necessary. When
she utilises the modes of appeals, they are subtle within the texts, which leads the reader to analyse as
they read. She conveys ideas of internalised oppression, involuntarily imposed upon to follow strict
social rules, the act of people erasing cultural heritage, as well as the importance of embracing
personal heritage. Throughout her essay, Anzaldua s main structure is unlike the standard structure of
an essay. Her thoughts are organised, and radical, which gives a more personal tone to her essay. This
radical structure is witnessed within the introductory paragraphs, she begins her essay with an
anecdote. The dentist is telling her in an authoritarian tone, we re going to have to control your tongue
, which has a double meaning. One meaning within the anecdote, the dentist is an authority figure and
is implying that her tongue is out of control and that it needs to be in control. The second meaning of
this is that the dentist represents society, and he is cleaning out the

Villa Rica Christian Church
On the fifth of February, I went to my church, Villa Rica Christian Church. In my church, there is a
nursery for kids ranging from birth to two. The first toy was a rectangular box that has shaped holes
on the lid. On the lid, there are four shapes triangle, square, star, and circle. The second toy, is a panel
with four different popups of Sesame Street characters. To trigger the popup, a kid has to either turn,
press, or push a button. The third toy is a child like abacus with five rows of beads that vary by colors
red, yellow, blue, green, and orange.
In the nursery, I examined toys aimed at the sensorimotor stage of cognitive development. This stage
includes actions based on reflexes and the transition to actions based on intentions. Actions that are
satisfying are repeated by the child through a process called primary circular reactions. Soon after this
first stage, the child moves on to the secondary circular reactions or actions that have an effect on the
environment. After experiencing both of these kind of reactions, the child then advances into more
intentional actions. The child begins to have goal directed behavior and curiosity which leads to
experimenting. Lastly, the child will begin to understand symbolic problem solving and object
permanence.
The first toy has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, toys that are too difficult for the child to solve or understand may cause frustration. This
frustration may motivate some kids to continue or cause the majority to abandon the toy. Most
importantly, toys need to provide an avenue through which the child can become exposed or practice
the skills in their stage of development. For kids ranging from birth to two, toys need to help them
practice primary, secondary, and tertiary circular reactions, as well as goal directed behavior and
eventually object

Example Of Irreversible Inequality
Irreversible Inequality In this paper I will be explaining why social inequality is irreversible. A large
part of this is due to social structure (forces outside our control), agency (our choices), and
structuration (the way the previous two work together to shape our lives). This aspect of social
inequality will be dove into deeper in the next paragraph, discussing how it shapes our views of
societal norms. Next, I will discuss social inequality specifically in race and gender and how it will not
be able to be reversed. Using Karl Marx s Conflict Theory, I will point out the flaws in believing that
society can reverse social inequality. By using multiple examples of social inequality through history,
research, and present day, it will become clear that social inequality is irreversible. Structure, agency,
and structuration play a significant role in social inequality. Social structure are things that are outside
a person s control, but still affect the person. Agency is the actions of individuals and each person s
choices. Structuration is referring to how each person s life is shaped by uncontrollable influences,
structure, and by their own choices, agency. An example of social structure affecting agency would be
growing up in a poor neighborhood effecting what kind of education you receive. Poorer
neighborhoods typically have a lower quality school, resulting in a lower quality education. In every
society, there is a cultural norm, or an expected right behavior. When

Octavia E. Butler s Parable Of The Sower
Contrasting with this bleak representation is Octavia E. Butler s Parable of the Sower. Parable centers
around a multi faceted, strong female lead named Lauren who shows herself to be a caring and
capable leader throughout the novel. Lauren shows both intelligence and an inclination for leadership.
Among her neighbors, Lauren is considered smart and industrious (Butler, 24). Lauren is proactive
and plans for the future she discusses her plans with Joanne and tells her, We can get ready. That s
what we ve got to do now. Get ready for what s going to happen, get ready to survive it, get ready to

Lauren tells her, This is what I ve been doing reading and studying these over the past few months ... I
m trying to learn whatever I can that might help me survive ... I mean to learn everything I can while I
can ... If I find myself outside, maybe what I ve learned will help me live long enough to learn more
(Butler. 57). Despite the judgement she receives from others, Lauren remains determined in what she
believes is the correct path. She also tries to help her community by encouraging others to start
emergency packs, like herself. She shows further inner strength as she preaches a sermon on
perseverance to encourage and strengthen the community following the disappearance and presumed
death of her father. Lauren continues to show this strength as The people I ve grown up with are
falling out of my life, one by one (Butler, 139). Towards the end of the novel, Lauren shows incredible
strength as she deals with the destruction of her family and community and her continued tribulations
as she leads an ever growing group on the road north. Throughout the novel, Lauren is portrayed as a
strong and intelligent young woman with an aptitude for

Difference Between Tourism And Culture
Tourism and Culture
Tourism is one of the links for an individual to visit the particular country to explore and experience
the cultures different from one s own. Every culture has their own unique culture, by opening doors
for other countries to visit, it allows other people to learn more about the culture and spread the culture
to other people. It also allows the country itself to be aware of other people s cultures and learn from
each other. Allowing globalization and better relationship with other countries. One of the most
common links is the culture between westerners and Asian countries as their cultural beliefs are
different from each other. Asian embraces unity while westerners embrace individualism. The best
time to introduce tourism is before the festival holidays, where people often wear their traditional
clothes and celebrate their festivals according to their traditions. Such as Chinese celebrate Chinese
New Year and give offerings to their gods to request for blessing and peace for the coming years. This
is a perfect opportunity for other tourist to witness this event to allow maximum exposure experience
of the culture. Advertising events through commercials or magazines are one of the best ways to
introduce. In this essay, we will see 2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Imagery Test Anxiety
Imagery Methods for Test Anxiety
Test anxiety has always been an issue I have struggled with and it has only increased since I started
University. My personal experience with test anxiety leads to physiological symptoms such as nervous
jitter, accelerated heart beats and light headedness, all of which impacts my test taking skills and
influence my decision making ability. This is a problem because although I am prepared with the
knowledge for an exam, it still affects my judgement when writing my answers and thus causes an
impact on my grades.
A study by Rebecca Stephens (1992), Imagery: A Treatment for Nursing Student Anxiety , explained
imagery methods that were proven effective among nursing students experiencing similar anxiety.
Nursing students are subjected to midterms and exams as are students in other programs, and although
the material is different it is the fear before writing a test that causes the anxiety. This makes it
applicable to my specific situation because although I am a Human Kinetics major, I am required to
take exams in all of my classes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Male inmates work their bodies constantly, doing hundreds of squat thrusts and jumping jacks even
when restricted to a maximum security cage. Women, who fear the central yard, work out their anxiety

Men s prisons divide the population by security level; women under minimum, medium and maximum
security freely mix. Men tend to congregate by race, whether or not they prefer to in the free world.
This is less true for women. Male gangs thrive in prison. Female gangs leave their colors on the street,
some creating small families in prison with designated mothers, fathers, siblings for support.
Rarely do men become intimate with their keepers. Many women share their lives with officers shift

Essay about HIstory of Astronomy and Neptune
Science is and has become a necessity to know just to keep up with the tremendous advancements of
today and tomorrow. Basic things, such as how the universe was suspected to be started or who
Ptolemy and Galileo were and what they did are just things that need to be known to fully understand
what is happening in the world around you. These things are what you need to know, if you re a

Johannes Kepler was born in 1571 and was one of the first strong believers of the heliocentric
planetary theory. He discovered the three laws of planetary motion. This German astronomer believed
in the Harmonices Mundi, or the Harmonies of the World. In his Harmonices Mundi he spoke of his
third law, which was about the relationship between the orbital periods and the distances of the planets
from the sun. He believed the sun regulates the velocity of the planets. This fact was a marking point
in Astronomy history. This left a path for Newton s theory of universal gravitation.
Galileo Galilei was a student at the University of Pisa. He studied medicine, though his real interests
were natural philosophy and mathematics. What he is mostly remembered for is his work on free fall,
his use of telescopes, and his employment of experimentation. In 1592, he became a professor of the
University of Padua. His job was to teach Euclid geometry and standard astronomy to medical
students. Instead he taught and lectured a more unconventional form of astronomy and natural
philosophy to his medical students. In a personal letter to Kepler sent in 1598, Galileo stated that he
was a Copernican, meaning he believed the teachings of

Family and friends who live at a distance are now in touch with one another much more frequently
and easily (Riney). Not only is e mail important for communication at home, it is also used in school.
Currently colleges set up e mail accounts for every one of their students as well as faculty. Important
messages about events or class scheduling are often sent by e mail rather than paper mail. This makes
it much easier because the university does not have to print copies and then have someone to address
them and send them out. They can send it to every one with just a few button clicks. Students also use
this e mail as their personal e mail address. They give it out to friends and family and receive
everything through this account. They may also use it to communicate with classmates about
assignments or to contact an instructor. It has made it much easier to ask a professor a question
because you don t have to worry about catching them in the office. It also makes it easier on the
teacher because they don t have to stay in their offices quite so much, but as a result they have more
work to do when they are at home. If we didn t have electronic communications, I think I could leave

Essay on Escalating Professional Athlete Salaries
Escalating Professional Athlete Salaries

In recent years, with the growing popularity of sports, athletes salaries have escalated like that of a
superb stock equity. Athletes are taking full advantage of their position, causing the average man to
wonder how high will they go. Some feel that athletes are greedy people who have lost care for the
true meaning of their salary, the love of the game.
Others feel that if a person is able to earn that kind of money, why shouldn t they? Increases in athlete
salaries will bring up the question on whether athletes are worth the money by researching the NBA?s

The problem is they want to do that immediately. In a couple years, after Garnett develops into a

college, even high school like KG [Kevin Garnett], would be signing these multi million dollar
contracts right after the draft. There is no doubt in my mind that that was a good thing to do. He also
feels that these high salaries are good because it shows that revenue is going up (Rosen). Sports
salaries have sky rocketed in the past ten to fifteen years. Professional athletes have moved from six
figure salaries to nine figure salaries in what seems like a snap of a finger. Michael Jordan, for

$439,000 a game $12,500 a minute played, assuming he plays about 35 minutes per game $209 a
second played almost $40,000 a jumpshot, assuming he makes 11 jumpshots per game That is a ton of
money when one looks at it this way. If one includes the endorsements he gets, which are from Nike,
Gatorade, Hanes, Ballpark hot dogs, Jordan shoes and clothing, Rayovac Batteries, and Michael
Jordan cologne, he makes about one million dollars per game. Now this is a little too much, even if it
is, in fact, Michael Jordan, probably the best basketball

Poem And William Carlos William s Order In The Streets
In the poem Poem the syntax is very interesting because of how each line is organized. The way the
lines are organized gives an image of what the poem is trying to show us. The way the poem is laid
out may leave some think it is awkward, but the way it is organized actually makes it more rhythmatic
than it would just read out in 1 or 2 lines. When reading the poem I picture the cat climbing/walking
with pauses every time the line ends. For example in lines 5 7, first the right (Williams 5) pause as the
cat steps, forefoot/carefully (Williams 6 7) you can picture the cat going slowly and carefully. In Order
in the Streets , Donald Justice uses similar syntax structure to William Carlos William s Poem . The
syntax is similar because both poems use how the lines are organized as a way to make the poem more
interesting. In Order in the Streets , the syntax help shape a picture of what the author is trying to
portray. For example in lines 3 5, Jeep rushes (Justice 3) you can picture a jeep driving fast, to the
scene (Justice 4) you slowly get a sense of the setting, of riot (Justice 5). By the end of these lines you
can picture a jeep rushing to a riot of some sort. These lines help paint of picture of the poem and help
with the theme of them as well
#4 In Emily Dickinson s poem Some keep the sabbath going to Church , you can clearly see her
opinion of religion and God. It seems like Dickinson likes the idea of religion, she just prefers to
practice outside of the Church. For example in lines 2 4 following the central metaphor, she says I
keep it, staying at Home /With a Bobolink for a Chorister /And an orchard, for a Dome (Dickinson 2
4). In these lines she seems to find going out into nature to be more beneficial than a church. When
Dickinson says With a Bobolink for a Chorister , you can see she prefers the sound of birds over the
sound of singing from a member of the choir. And when she says And an Orchard, for a Dome , it is
clear that she prefers looking up and seeing trees rather than a dome of a chapel. In conclusion, I
believe that Dickinson s views on religion is positive, but she prefers to practice it out in nature.
#5 I believe that the poem s title should be known as Dream

Community Maintenance Plan Paper
Revitalizing our neighborhoods is as important as getting people into homes. Broken neighborhoods
with streets in need of repair, limited access to shopping areas, few job opportunities, and despair
seeping around every corner is not good for either individuals or communities.
I plan on using the Year of Giving as part of the plan to combat this. Our nation s youth will go into
these areas and clean them up, plant gardens, and help support new services that I hope to bring to
each of these areas.
These communities will also be given priority in city maintenance plans. Targeting issues, such as
repairing roads, water and sewer services, mass transit, and upgrading the electrical systems for more
solar and wind initiatives.
Getting jobs into these neighborhoods is also important. And the best way to do that is to encourage
small businesses to set up shop in these areas. Low interest loans and other considerations will be
given to people who wish to open a business, with priority given to those who are residents of that
community.
I would like to see city planners work with local residents to bring the kind of services and businesses
each community needs to thrive. Using local, state and federal money, we will build up our
communities and improve living conditions for all of our citizens. Living in low income areas will no

Thomas Paine The Crisis Number 1 Summary
Thomas Paine in the essay, The Crisis, Number 1 asserts that the colonists need to keep fighting the
British. Pain supports his assertion by using duty/obligation, figurative language, and parallel
structure. The author s purpose is to persuade the colonists to not give up. The author writes in a
motivational tone for the colonists. In The Crisis Number 1 Paine uses duty/obligation to help his
assertion. He that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. (Paine 87.) Paine is
stating that any man who stands against the British deserves the admiration of all the colonists. I call
not upon a few, but upon all; not on this state or that state, but on every state; up and help us. (Paine

Impact Of The Land Administration Projects
Changes in Customary Land Administration and Building Synergy in Pluralistic Institutional
Environment in Sub Sahara Africa: Examining the Impact of the Land Administration Projects (LAP)
in Ghana
Research Background and Problem
Plurality of institutions is a unique feature of the land administration system in Africa. This system is
characterized by the operations of traditional landholding institutions that have been in existence and
has been holding land time immemorial on ground of ancestry together with statutory established
formal land agencies that is required to complement efforts of the former. Traditional institutions in
some countries continue to play key role in the system, despite widespread implementation of the
formalization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is argued that multiple institutional and legal structures could bring about contradictions and
insecurity regarding whose rights count, whose rights will be supported in the event of a contest, and
which decision making structures are paramount resulting in institution shopping (Toulmin, 2009). In
Ghana, the pluralism systems are poorly articulated and has been the cause of growing contradiction
and conflict (Kasanga and Kotey, 2001). This can be substantiated by studies from Yeboah and Shaw
(2011) that find the traditional institutions are making makeshift plans in order to sell lands even
without the knowledge of the appropriate planning authority. Also, Biitir and Nara (2016) finds that
land governance in Ghana is hampered by lack of cooperation and collaboration between these
institutions. The state of the pure distinct operations of the customary and statutory land tenure
institutions therefore denies synergistic effect (Cousin and Hornby, 2005).
In the wake of the aforementioned factors and address resulting problems, previous and present
governments of Ghana have made attempts to streamline the system through land policies and
projects. The Land Administration Projects (LAP) is currently being implemented (Government of
Ghana, 2008). This

8th Grade Singing
Hello,
There are quite a few pedagogical reasons why Rachel and I have decided to combine both choirs.
Below are just a few. My 8th grade boys were having a hard time singing do to voice changes. I tried
to keep the boys up in their falsetto and while this worked for a few boys the others we not able to
produce certain notes. When boys voices start to change it can result in them only being able to sing a
very limited amount of notes. We worked on high trills, sliding, humming, yawning, held long tones,
among many of other to help support their changing voices. After our first concert I talked with my
boys and they had mentioned that they felt very discouraged about singing because some of them
simply are not producing notes or can only sing in a low rumble. Rachel mentioned to me that her
boys were just starting to transition and she was noticing large gaps in her group as well. Combining
both groups would result in a higher confidence level, tone production, and create a full choir sound.
This is one of the reasons why we combined the groups. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although our Planned Course document does not differentiate between grade levels it is known in the
musical world that 8th grade choir should be able to sing in easy three part harmony by the end of the

bulk of the three part harmony however having a small number of students and a group of boys with
ever changing voices makes 3 part harmony almost impossible. To promote healthy singing and a
confident choir it is important for them to be combined. Because the music is more difficult it will

Ancient Egypt and Mondern Society
Over the last several thousand years, dozens of great civilizations have risen from nothing and fallen
back into obscurity. Not all civilizations, however, leave a lasting mark on the world, especially not
one so profound that influences the world as it exists today. One such civilization that has had a
profound impact on daily modern lives was that of Ancient Egypt. Their systems of religion and
technological innovation helped not only to leave a permanent impression on the world, but also
served to mold both the civilizations that directly followed it as well as society today. The Ancient
Egyptian civilization spanned several thousand years and is one of the few societies of the time that
came into being independently. Egyptian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Egyptians not only contributed to future society through the invention of their language, giving them
the ability to record their history for future generations, but they also were the first people to create a
sensible medium upon which to inscribe their language: paper. Taken from the fibers of the papyrus
plant, Egyptian paper was the first of its kind ( Ancient 1). This invention would come to change
everything about written language, but not only did Egyptians create the first paper, they also were
skilled at creating ink. The process and depth of color utilized in the Egyptian invention of ink and dye
was so marvelous that these brilliant hued colors can still be seen today, thousands of years later (
Ancirnt 1).
Egypt is also known for its statues depicting various gods and tombs for its numerous pharaohs. Their
architectural prowess is a feat marveled at even today. The ability to design and build such grand
monuments such as the iconic pyramids of Giza, rivalling even the Mayan and Aztec temples of South
and Central America, reveals the true nature of innovation in Egypt. In fact, even without modern
tools of measurement, the Great Pyramid, the largest tomb in Egypt, is almost geometrically perfect.
For such a large structure, the length of all four sides at its base differ by less than a foot (McKenty 1).
One other major contributions Egyptians made is the creation

Rock Music History
Rock music has been very popular for years. Now a day s rock has blended in with the other types of
popular music like pop, country and rap. However, none of these other types of music seemed to have
as big an impact on people that rock did. Rock n roll, basically controlled the most of the twentieth
century, with an entire era of children, teens and young adults to follow. But, where did rock come
from? What is rock music, what started it? How did parents react? Rock n roll original started along
the Mississippi River Valley (image right, Dennison). The music spread up and down the river, along
the railroads and highways that ran near the river (Allen). It also traveled through Tennessee, Illinois,
Cumberland and the Missouri rivers also known as the tributaries (Allen). The reason ... Show more

It has to do with the beats, melody, elements and rhythm that make up the music. Those are the things
that separate music from noise. Though, if you listen to early rock like Maybellene by Chuck Berry
and What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong it is a little more clearly. When it comes to rock and
jazz in specific; they are influenced by different properties around them. Even though jazz and rock
are inspired by different things; they are still more alike than to any other type of music. However,
they share one distinct difference. In jazz, it uses a shuffle rhythm and rock does not (Kajanova 13).
What that means is that the same rhythmic values in rock are used in subtle shifts and digressions to
enhance the relax feel of the music; along with an essence and easiness, that s why jazz and rock are
different (Kajanova 13). Musical ideas of rock and jazz came from components that came from
European folk and stylized dances that were changed into country music. From there it was changed
into rhythm and blues and jazz, and lastly it was imported into rock

The Legacy Of The Native Americans
Our history is written by the winners of the bloody, and merciless battles that shaped our country. The
hate that has slaughtered thousands of people, is also the hate that has made our country the beautiful
tragedy it is today. We all know the history of how Christopher Columbus came to the native land,
named the people here indians because he thought he was in the Indi mountains and brought disease
and colonists to the land to make it part of spain. What is usually left out of our history is just how
brutal living at that time really was, and just how much we abused the Native Americans to get what
we wanted. The true history of the native americans is no longer taught in schools, they no longer
teach about the native americans and what they went through from being invaded, tricked, slaughters
and finally removed from their own land. The first genocide in america was the Native Americans,
they were pushed from their homes and forced to fight or die for their ancestral lands. Even though the
natives were mostly friendly and willing to become acquainted with the new settlers they were soon
pushed out and slaughtered. One of the last real resistance acts came in 1812 when congress declared
war on great britain, Tecumseh, A famous Native American warrior, lead an act of defiance with his
confederacy and sided with the british to try and push out the settlers. According to John Sugden,
author of Ohio History Tecumseh led a group of raiders in these efforts, attacking

Case Analysis Of Worldcom
Worldcom s senior management used fraudulent accounting methods to hide the company s
decreasing earnings by recording expenses as capital expenditures and inflating the entity s revenue
from 1999 to 2002. In total, Worldcom s estimated asset inflation was $11 billion. The company filed
for bankruptcy on July 21, 2002.
The WorldCom fraud resulted in a $9 billion restatement, which is the largest in history. WorldCom s
fraudulent reporting totaled over $11 billion over a period of 5 years (Rockness, p.39) It started
initially by using reserves to absorb expenses. When the reserves ran out, a variety of fraudulent
accounting activities were used to enhance the company s revenue and decrease expenses. This was
referred to as a straight forward capitalization of expenses because there were no complex accounting
rules broken (Rockness, p. 39). WorldCom s company culture was an issue as promotions were only
given to those who were willing to cheat their ways to the top (with faulty promises, twisting reality,
or stealing credit. WorldCom manipulated employees by promoting the greatest common good for
workers, shareholders, community, raising fears of losing their jobs if they did not comply with the
management s requests to falsify records (Rockness, p. 39).

Essay on Worth in Everyday Use
A Question of Worth in Everyday Use
From the fashionable, expensive clothing that the character Dee in Alice Walker s Everyday Use
wears, the girl seems almost immediately to be a person of great value and importance. It may seem,
too, at first glance, that Dee s mother and sister, Maggie, in their tin roof house and shabby clothing,
are of little or no worth in Everyday Use. The story ironically shows, under more careful thought, that
the very outer characteristics which deem Dee the more valuable character are the ones which prove
that the mother and Maggie have the more powerful inner worth.
In the beginning of the story, Dee is portrayed to be more physically valuable than her mother and
Maggie. Dee s outfit reeks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Houston A. Baker, Jr. and Charlotte Pierce Baker suggest that Ultimately, the framed Polaroid
photograph represents the limits of Dee s vision (416). With close examination, the camera, which
represents Dee s material wealth, can also be used to prove her inability to see people, places and
things for what and who they really are.
By far the most striking piece of evidence supporting Dee s lack of inner value is her desire to have
the quilts. At first, Dee s anger over being denied the quilts seems justified. Dee claims that she would
preserve the quilts and Hang them (1154). Yet, the real purpose of possessing the quilts, as seen on a
larger scope, is to use the old quilts for the simple life the mother and Maggie lead. To actually put the
quilts to everyday use, as Maggie will do, is symbolically preserving the family heritage. Dee s cry
that Maggie would probably be backward enough to put them to everyday use (1154) portrays Dee as
the materialistic, backward character.
Just as the argument over the quilts shows Dee as intrinsically immature, it directly points out that the
mother and Dee have, in fact, great value within them. Dee s mother, for instance, is at first silent to
Dee s demands to have the butter churn and wooden benches. When Dee takes the quilts, previously
promised to Maggie, the mother then becomes defensive. The mother questions Dee s intended use of
the quilts in an effort to deter Dee from her insistence of owning

According to the ANA (American Nurses Association), it is the duty of nurse to protect the patient s
rights, safety, health and advocate for the patient. By treating the patient in an open area, invades their
privacy, can cause embarrassment and most of all jeopardize trust between the patient and care giver.
This negligent care could also lead to legal ramifications in the future against the hospital. By
breaking this trust, the patient may also omit valuable information that could affect their treatment
ultimately causing them harm. Some patients may become noncompliant with their prescribed
treatment. It is essential that effective communication between patient and care provider occurs at all
times. . Healthcare providers are obligated to give safe and effective care.
As an effective and ethical leader, it is of most importance that they create and foster an ethically
principled environment. In this scenario, the importance of patient confidentiality would be identified
and addressed with all staff members of the health team. Ethical behaviors would be discussed with
each team member in order to ensure that the healthcare needs of the patient are met as well as their
privacy protected. A new process would be implemented so that patients would be identified by
assigned numbers instead of identified by name. Also it would be enforced that no patient be treated in
an open area unless some

American Art Observation
For this observation, I went to the American Art section on the first floor of the Philadelphia Museum
of Art. When you first walk into the exhibition you see a bunch of glass showcases and to the right
was a whole hallway and section designated to Thomas Eakins. The Thomas Eakins section is rather
large so I ventured there first. All of his pieces are so well done and lifelike. Although, there was so
much to pick from, I found a small brown set of five figures in a glass case the most interesting. Each
one is only the size of my hand. They are intriguing because not only are they in a well lit big glass
box in a darker hallway, but they are on a smaller scale than most of the other works of art around it.

Eakins was born in Philadelphia in 1844. He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in
1862 complimenting his artist career. A year later although, he decided to study anatomy at the
Jefferson Medical College (Krieg 191). This new found muse for anatomy sparked his realist artwork.
Eakins art historical significance is rooted in his identity as a studious realist whose painting draws its
force from extensive scientific research into anatomy, perspective, reflection and motion (Leja 479).
Pieces such as his anatomical bronze casts of the human foot and knee showed his appreciation for
capturing the little details and scale of the human body. The particular painting William Rush Carving
His Allegorical Figure of Schuylkill River was a step by step process. Eakins wanted this painting to
be as real as it could be, so he used different methods to capture details. For his first method, he
sculpted small figurines so he had a three dimensional object to be able to observe the subjects in
different points of view and to test light and shadow ( Philadelphia Museum of Art: Handbook of the
Collections ). Since this was just a mere step, he didn t spend too much time on it. He used scraps and
materials commonly found in his studio. The three figurines of The Schuylkill Freed, George
Washington, and the Water Nymph and Bittern were models of statues William Rush sculpted, that
Eakins wanted to include in his painting. These three

Nuclear Atomic Nuclear Reactor Was Brought Online
On December 2nd, 1942, the Chicago Pile 1 nuclear reactor was brought online. It was the world s

decades to come. Since that day, nuclear power has peaked at ten percent of the world s total energy
resources in 2011 (International Energy Agency), and has fueled not only power grids across the

Analysis Of Nanook Of The North
Nanook of the North (Robert J. Flaherty, 1922) is a silent docudrama that was released to demonstrate
the way that the Inuit people live in day to day life. To a person in the western world in the 1920 s they
would believe that this is how they live, dress and how they survive in day to day situations. In fact,
what Flaherty filmed, was scripted and the Inuit family we follow were not actually family. Flaherty
also decided to have the Inuit people dressed as they would previously in history, where as they were
dressing like western world civilisation in the 1920 s. This could have been due to wanting to make
the Inuit s come across as a new and exotic civilisation, compared to the ordinary people.
In this paper, I will be collating primary sources, released during the time of Nanook of the North
being released to discuss the attitude the people of the western world had on the Inuit s and the
docudrama Nanook of the North. The sources I will be collating will consist of newspaper extracts,
images used to promote the film as well as the book written Flaherty about his expedition to the
Canadian Arctic.
Nanook will undoubtedly be the household talk all this week opens the Evening Telegraph

My Experiences After Attending The Practice Of Public...
Reflective Assignment
This paper discusses my experiences after attending the Practice of Public Health Leadership (PPHL)
subject in 2015, reflecting on important lessons learnt, the relevance to my work and the support
required for my improvement.
When I enrolled in this PPHL, I was not sure that I will get the best out of the subject due to previous
experiences of attending theoretical leadership trainings. However, at the end of the subject, I was
challenged, groomed, humbled and inspired as a leader. The subject has helped more to bring a lot out
of myself, stimulated the urge for personal authenticity and an appreciation of the power of
vulnerability in leadership. Through personal interactions with other students and presenters as well as
the group activities, I have realised that the success of the team depends on recognising each other s
strengths and complementing on the weaknesses. In addition, I have learnt that effective leadership
depends on team work, incorporating people with different skills and abilities. I have learnt the
importance of personal reflection and meditation in leadership. Furthermore, taking time to know
myself or who I am, has been one of the great lessons from this subject. It has enabled me to focus on
the roles of a leader instead of striving to do everything myself as the case before. In addition, learning
the skills of gaining the trust of the people you are leading as well as inspiring them was a remarkable
lesson.

  • 2. Hushpuppy Vs Potnette Film has a way of presenting the journey in which a character embarks upon. The perspective from which the story is told is strongly attached to the dramatization of the journey within the film. The two films, Ponette and Beasts of a Southern Wild bear similarities in the way the relationship between the father figure and main characters unfold. However the differences between the way Ponette and Hushpuppy come to terms with the death of their loved ones are profound. Ponette uses her emotions to guide her whereas Hushpuppy uses her instincts. Even though Ponette and Hushpuppy deal with what life hands them differently, though, a constant in both films is the absentee parents. Although the fathers do care for their daughters, they have strange ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At one point he was even violent to Hush Puppy. The film Beasts of the Southern Wild is about a six year old girl who lives in a southern community known as the Bathtub with her father. At first it appears that Wink is neglectful and mean but that is not the case. In the community in which they live everyone, even children, must know the cruel truths of the world to survive. Due to Wink s illness he especially wants Hushpuppy to learn to live without him. The idea of not crying is heard throughout the film as crying is the symbol of weakness. One example in the film where Hushpuppy uses instinct as guidance, is is by trying to fix the things that s broken because she feels it is her fault. In this scene Hushpuppy wishes her father death then hits him. As soon as he falls, a storm starts. Unlike Ponette s mother already being dead, Hushpuppy is watching her father suffer as his health worsens. All of the feelings, guilt, sadness, uncertainty and fear are all tied together. Hushpuppy frequently encounters sickness and death in the community that she lives in, however there is a deeper hurt in her. You can hear it in her voice You think I don t see , and see it in her eyes as she sees her father fading ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Media Has An Inopportune Impact On Society Technology has been improving yearly and has now become part of many people s life. Humans have become dependent on technology for many things like to communicate, to learn, to create things, to advertise, the list is endless. Access to the internet has become easier even in underdeveloped countries. This means that almost anyone can post, share, comment, and do many different functions that social media allows to do. Considering that technology is easy to access and that people depend on it, it is almost impossible to not have a controversial conversation over it. Some people believe that posting on social media has an inopportune impact on society. However, there are a lot of positive impacts social media has on society. Social media bring people together and helps society in a lot of ways. Posting to social media comes with responsibilities since what is posted could not be taken lightly by someone else however, there should be no fear in posting since the freedom to do so is there for the taking and can benefit in many ways. First and foremost, social media was made to share ideas. In order to share ideas a way for things to be published and seen by others had to be created. Social media is defined as the ability to use the internet to share and communicate instantly with others (historycooperative.org). The developers of social media applications such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and many more, found a way to make this possible. In Facebook and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Rhetorical Analysis Of How To Tame A Wild Tongue Blah Blah Blah Title In How to Tame a Wild Tongue, Gloria Anzaldua uses rhetoric and personal anecdotes to convey and persuade her argument that Latin Americans are forced to relinquish their cultural heritage, and to conform to white society. The evidence she provides comes in a variety of platforms, both literal and rhetorical. Rhetorical, being through emotional, logical, and credible appeals through her text. Literal being explicitly stated, without any further analysis necessary. When she utilises the modes of appeals, they are subtle within the texts, which leads the reader to analyse as they read. She conveys ideas of internalised oppression, involuntarily imposed upon to follow strict social rules, the act of people erasing cultural heritage, as well as the importance of embracing personal heritage. Throughout her essay, Anzaldua s main structure is unlike the standard structure of an essay. Her thoughts are organised, and radical, which gives a more personal tone to her essay. This radical structure is witnessed within the introductory paragraphs, she begins her essay with an anecdote. The dentist is telling her in an authoritarian tone, we re going to have to control your tongue , which has a double meaning. One meaning within the anecdote, the dentist is an authority figure and is implying that her tongue is out of control and that it needs to be in control. The second meaning of this is that the dentist represents society, and he is cleaning out the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Villa Rica Christian Church On the fifth of February, I went to my church, Villa Rica Christian Church. In my church, there is a nursery for kids ranging from birth to two. The first toy was a rectangular box that has shaped holes on the lid. On the lid, there are four shapes triangle, square, star, and circle. The second toy, is a panel with four different popups of Sesame Street characters. To trigger the popup, a kid has to either turn, press, or push a button. The third toy is a child like abacus with five rows of beads that vary by colors red, yellow, blue, green, and orange. In the nursery, I examined toys aimed at the sensorimotor stage of cognitive development. This stage includes actions based on reflexes and the transition to actions based on intentions. Actions that are satisfying are repeated by the child through a process called primary circular reactions. Soon after this first stage, the child moves on to the secondary circular reactions or actions that have an effect on the environment. After experiencing both of these kind of reactions, the child then advances into more intentional actions. The child begins to have goal directed behavior and curiosity which leads to experimenting. Lastly, the child will begin to understand symbolic problem solving and object permanence. The first toy has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, toys that are too difficult for the child to solve or understand may cause frustration. This frustration may motivate some kids to continue or cause the majority to abandon the toy. Most importantly, toys need to provide an avenue through which the child can become exposed or practice the skills in their stage of development. For kids ranging from birth to two, toys need to help them practice primary, secondary, and tertiary circular reactions, as well as goal directed behavior and eventually object ... • 6. Example Of Irreversible Inequality Irreversible Inequality In this paper I will be explaining why social inequality is irreversible. A large part of this is due to social structure (forces outside our control), agency (our choices), and structuration (the way the previous two work together to shape our lives). This aspect of social inequality will be dove into deeper in the next paragraph, discussing how it shapes our views of societal norms. Next, I will discuss social inequality specifically in race and gender and how it will not be able to be reversed. Using Karl Marx s Conflict Theory, I will point out the flaws in believing that society can reverse social inequality. By using multiple examples of social inequality through history, research, and present day, it will become clear that social inequality is irreversible. Structure, agency, and structuration play a significant role in social inequality. Social structure are things that are outside a person s control, but still affect the person. Agency is the actions of individuals and each person s choices. Structuration is referring to how each person s life is shaped by uncontrollable influences, structure, and by their own choices, agency. An example of social structure affecting agency would be growing up in a poor neighborhood effecting what kind of education you receive. Poorer neighborhoods typically have a lower quality school, resulting in a lower quality education. In every society, there is a cultural norm, or an expected right behavior. When ... Parable centers around a multi faceted, strong female lead named Lauren who shows herself to be a caring and capable leader throughout the novel. Lauren shows both intelligence and an inclination for leadership. Among her neighbors, Lauren is considered smart and industrious (Butler, 24). Lauren is proactive and plans for the future she discusses her plans with Joanne and tells her, We can get ready. That s what we ve got to do now. Despite the judgement she receives from others, Lauren remains determined in what she believes is the correct path. She also tries to help her community by encouraging others to start emergency packs, like herself. She shows further inner strength as she preaches a sermon on perseverance to encourage and strengthen the community following the disappearance and presumed death of her father. Lauren continues to show this strength as The people I ve grown up with are falling out of my life, one by one (Butler, 139). Towards the end of the novel, Lauren shows incredible strength as she deals with the destruction of her family and community and her continued tribulations as she leads an ever growing group on the road north. • 8. Difference Between Tourism And Culture Tourism and Culture Tourism is one of the links for an individual to visit the particular country to explore and experience the cultures different from one s own. Every culture has their own unique culture, by opening doors for other countries to visit, it allows other people to learn more about the culture and spread the culture to other people. It also allows the country itself to be aware of other people s cultures and learn from each other. Allowing globalization and better relationship with other countries. One of the most common links is the culture between westerners and Asian countries as their cultural beliefs are different from each other. Asian embraces unity while westerners embrace individualism. The best time to introduce tourism is before the festival holidays, where people often wear their traditional clothes and celebrate their festivals according to their traditions. Such as Chinese celebrate Chinese New Year and give offerings to their gods to request for blessing and peace for the coming years. This is a perfect opportunity for other tourist to witness this event to allow maximum exposure experience of the culture. • 9. Imagery Test Anxiety Imagery Methods for Test Anxiety Test anxiety has always been an issue I have struggled with and it has only increased since I started University. My personal experience with test anxiety leads to physiological symptoms such as nervous jitter, accelerated heart beats and light headedness, all of which impacts my test taking skills and influence my decision making ability. This is a problem because although I am prepared with the knowledge for an exam, it still affects my judgement when writing my answers and thus causes an impact on my grades. A study by Rebecca Stephens (1992), Imagery: A Treatment for Nursing Student Anxiety , explained imagery methods that were proven effective among nursing students experiencing similar anxiety. Nursing students are subjected to midterms and exams as are students in other programs, and although the material is different it is the fear before writing a test that causes the anxiety. This makes it applicable to my specific situation because although I am a Human Kinetics major, I am required to take exams in all of my classes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women, who fear the central yard, work out their anxiety with too much sleep, food and prescription pills. Men s prisons divide the population by security level; women under minimum, medium and maximum security freely mix. Men tend to congregate by race, whether or not they prefer to in the free world. This is less true for women. Male gangs thrive in prison. Female gangs leave their colors on the street, some creating small families in prison with designated mothers, fathers, siblings for support. Rarely do men become intimate with their keepers. Many women share their lives with officers shift after shift after shift. Men either honor orders or defy them. Women ask why. Only 29 percent of the guards at the Central California Women s Facility are women. This fact worsens the already ancient problems of troubled women, many of whom are accustomed to coercive relationships, when they are placed in a highly sexualized, paramilitary setting in the custody mostly of men. An ongoing investigation of state prisons by the Human Rights Watch Women s Rights Project found that female inmates experienced some form of custodial sexual misconduct regardless of the prison or state; inappropriate sexual contact, verbal degradation, rape, sexual assault and unwarranted visual supervision were reported from California to New ... • 19. Poem And William Carlos William s Order In The Streets In the poem Poem the syntax is very interesting because of how each line is organized. The way the lines are organized gives an image of what the poem is trying to show us. The way the poem is laid out may leave some think it is awkward, but the way it is organized actually makes it more rhythmatic than it would just read out in 1 or 2 lines. When reading the poem I picture the cat climbing/walking with pauses every time the line ends. For example in lines 5 7, first the right (Williams 5) pause as the cat steps, forefoot/carefully (Williams 6 7) you can picture the cat going slowly and carefully. In Order in the Streets , Donald Justice uses similar syntax structure to William Carlos William s Poem . The syntax is similar because both poems use how the lines are organized as a way to make the poem more interesting. In Order in the Streets , the syntax help shape a picture of what the author is trying to portray. For example in lines 3 5, Jeep rushes (Justice 3) you can picture a jeep driving fast, to the scene (Justice 4) you slowly get a sense of the setting, of riot (Justice 5). By the end of these lines you can picture a jeep rushing to a riot of some sort. These lines help paint of picture of the poem and help with the theme of them as well #4 In Emily Dickinson s poem Some keep the sabbath going to Church , you can clearly see her opinion of religion and God. It seems like Dickinson likes the idea of religion, she just prefers to practice outside of the Church. For example in lines 2 4 following the central metaphor, she says I keep it, staying at Home /With a Bobolink for a Chorister /And an orchard, for a Dome (Dickinson 2 4). In these lines she seems to find going out into nature to be more beneficial than a church. When Dickinson says With a Bobolink for a Chorister , you can see she prefers the sound of birds over the sound of singing from a member of the choir. And when she says And an Orchard, for a Dome , it is clear that she prefers looking up and seeing trees rather than a dome of a chapel. In conclusion, I believe that Dickinson s views on religion is positive, but she prefers to practice it out in nature. #5 I believe that the poem s title should be known as Dream ... In Ghana, the pluralism systems are poorly articulated and has been the cause of growing contradiction and conflict (Kasanga and Kotey, 2001). This can be substantiated by studies from Yeboah and Shaw (2011) that find the traditional institutions are making makeshift plans in order to sell lands even without the knowledge of the appropriate planning authority. Also, Biitir and Nara (2016) finds that land governance in Ghana is hampered by lack of cooperation and collaboration between these institutions. The state of the pure distinct operations of the customary and statutory land tenure institutions therefore denies synergistic effect (Cousin and Hornby, 2005). My 8th grade boys were having a hard time singing do to voice changes. I tried to keep the boys up in their falsetto and while this worked for a few boys the others we not able to produce certain notes. When boys voices start to change it can result in them only being able to sing a very limited amount of notes. We worked on high trills, sliding, humming, yawning, held long tones, among many of other to help support their changing voices. After our first concert I talked with my boys and they had mentioned that they felt very discouraged about singing because some of them simply are not producing notes or can only sing in a low rumble. Rachel mentioned to me that her boys were just starting to transition and she was noticing large gaps in her group as well. With close examination, the camera, which represents Dee s material wealth, can also be used to prove her inability to see people, places and things for what and who they really are. By far the most striking piece of evidence supporting Dee s lack of inner value is her desire to have the quilts. At first, Dee s anger over being denied the quilts seems justified. Dee claims that she would preserve the quilts and Hang them (1154). Yet, the real purpose of possessing the quilts, as seen on a larger scope, is to use the old quilts for the simple life the mother and Maggie lead. To actually put the quilts to everyday use, as Maggie will do, is symbolically preserving the family heritage. Dee s cry that Maggie would probably be backward enough to put them to everyday use (1154) portrays Dee as the materialistic, backward character. Just as the argument over the quilts shows Dee as intrinsically immature, it directly points out that the mother and Dee have, in fact, great value within them. Dee s mother, for instance, is at first silent to Dee s demands to have the butter churn and wooden benches. He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1862 complimenting his artist career. A year later although, he decided to study anatomy at the Jefferson Medical College (Krieg 191). This new found muse for anatomy sparked his realist artwork. Eakins art historical significance is rooted in his identity as a studious realist whose painting draws its force from extensive scientific research into anatomy, perspective, reflection and motion (Leja 479). Pieces such as his anatomical bronze casts of the human foot and knee showed his appreciation for capturing the little details and scale of the human body. The particular painting William Rush Carving His Allegorical Figure of Schuylkill River was a step by step process. Eakins wanted this painting to be as real as it could be, so he used different methods to capture details. For his first method, he sculpted small figurines so he had a three dimensional object to be able to observe the subjects in different points of view and to test light and shadow ( Philadelphia Museum of Art: Handbook of the Collections ). Since this was just a mere step, he didn t spend too much time on it. He used scraps and materials commonly found in his studio. Within The Painted Door and The Black Cat, isolation and its effects are present and those effects impact the characters actions. The Black Cat and The Painted Door are comparable in their showcase of humanities perverse capabilities, by using the gothic elements these capabilities are shown to lead to their downfall. For gothic fiction, gloom and horror are often personified through secondary outlets. In the case of The Painted Door, the gloom and isolation that John feels because of his wife s infidelity is personified through the white painted door, it is stated on the palm, white even against its frozen whiteness was a little smear of paint ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John s wife imagines John walking in after she had slept with Steven, this paranoia stems from her knowing that she had betrayed the only person she knew and trusted. This vision sets up the climax, but it also reflects on her lack of certainty about the situation and this leads to her blaming herself for John s death and ultimately her being left in isolation. In The Black Cat however, the narrator holds an absolute certainty in the success of his plan to hide his wife s body, and ultimately his overconfidence is the root of his demise. While the narrators demise can be attributed to the cat as seen with I was answered by a voice from within the tomb! ... a cry the blame also falls on him for disrupting the cat and thus breaking his isolation driven confidence. Both Edgar Alan Poe and Sinclair Ross utilize the elements of gothic fiction to set their characters upon the path towards their demise, however whereas Edgar focuses more on the malice of man and the self made destruction that follows, Sinclair instead focuses on the innocence of little decisions that leads to ... • 32. Nuclear Atomic Nuclear Reactor Was Brought Online On December 2nd, 1942, the Chicago Pile 1 nuclear reactor was brought online. It was the world s first, and the beginning of a movement that would come to shape the world s energy resources for decades to come. Since that day, nuclear power has peaked at ten percent of the world s total energy resources in 2011 (International Energy Agency), and has fueled not only power grids across the globe, but a heated debate about the viability, environmental impact, and ethical concerns of using nuclear fission and radioactive chemical reactions as a public energy source. The most widespread arguments against its use all revolve around a trio of disastrous reactor failures spanning the last three decades: the meltdown on Three Mile Island, the ... Barely a year later, on March 28, 1979, the second of the station s pair of reactors had been shut down for refueling and routine maintenance, during which an attempt to clear a blockage resulting in a clogged instrument line which would lead to a shutdown of several different water and coolant pumps later in the evening. With the steam generators no longer receiving water, the heat and caused the reactor to perform an emergency shutdown. Within eight seconds, control rods were inserted into the core to halt the nuclear chain reaction. Because steam was no longer being fed into the turbine, however, heat was no longer being removed from the reactor. When the water pumps had stopped, three auxiliary pumps activated automatically. Their valves had been closed for routine maintenance, however, leaving them unable to pump any water. Closing all three valves at once was a violation of Nuclear Regulatory Commission policy, and one of the primary causes of the reactor s partial meltdown (Mahaffey 329). When the auxiliary pumps failed to come online, a relief valve should have opened as a tertiary safety mechanism to release heat and pressure. It was prevented from doing do due to a mechanical fault, but poorly designed instrumentation made this difficult for operators to discover. As a result of improper training and complex instrumentation, it took several hours and a new shift of workers before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Analysis Of Nanook Of The North Nanook of the North (Robert J. Flaherty, 1922) is a silent docudrama that was released to demonstrate the way that the Inuit people live in day to day life. To a person in the western world in the 1920 s they would believe that this is how they live, dress and how they survive in day to day situations. In fact, what Flaherty filmed, was scripted and the Inuit family we follow were not actually family. Flaherty also decided to have the Inuit people dressed as they would previously in history, where as they were dressing like western world civilisation in the 1920 s. This could have been due to wanting to make the Inuit s come across as a new and exotic civilisation, compared to the ordinary people. • 34. My Experiences After Attending The Practice Of Public... Reflective Assignment This paper discusses my experiences after attending the Practice of Public Health Leadership (PPHL) subject in 2015, reflecting on important lessons learnt, the relevance to my work and the support required for my improvement. When I enrolled in this PPHL, I was not sure that I will get the best out of the subject due to previous experiences of attending theoretical leadership trainings. However, at the end of the subject, I was challenged, groomed, humbled and inspired as a leader. The subject has helped more to bring a lot out of myself, stimulated the urge for personal authenticity and an appreciation of the power of vulnerability in leadership. Through personal interactions with other students and presenters as well as the group activities, I have realised that the success of the team depends on recognising each other s strengths and complementing on the weaknesses. In addition, I have learnt that effective leadership depends on team work, incorporating people with different skills and abilities. I have learnt the importance of personal reflection and meditation in leadership. Furthermore, taking time to know myself or who I am, has been one of the great lessons from this subject. It has enabled me to focus on the roles of a leader instead of striving to do everything myself as the case before. In addition, learning the skills of gaining the trust of the people you are leading as well as inspiring them was a remarkable lesson. Reflecting on my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
