The Sound And The Fury Essay
Crafting an essay on "The Sound and the Fury" poses a considerable challenge, demanding a
deep understanding of William Faulkner's intricate narrative techniques, complex characters, and
the novel's underlying themes. The task requires not just a surface-level analysis but a nuanced
exploration of the characters' perspectives, the non-linear structure, and the symbolic elements
embedded in the text.
The novel's narrative complexity, with its shifting perspectives and temporal disarray, demands a
meticulous approach to ensure a coherent and insightful essay. Tackling the intricate psychology
of characters like Benjy, Quentin, and Jason Compson necessitates a keen literary analysis and
an ability to navigate the intricacies of Faulkner's stream-of-consciousness style.
Moreover, addressing the novel's broader themes such as time, memory, and the decline of the
Southern aristocracy requires a nuanced understanding of historical and cultural contexts. The
integration of critical perspectives and scholarly analysis further adds to the depth expected in an
essay on "The Sound and the Fury."
Effective communication of ideas and interpretations is paramount, as is the ability to weave a
cohesive argument that unveils the novel's layers without succumbing to confusion. It's not
merely about summarizing the plot but about engaging critically with the text, demonstrating an
awareness of literary theory, and presenting a unique perspective.
In conclusion, navigating the intricacies of "The Sound and the Fury" for an essay demands
intellectual rigor, literary acumen, and a dedication to exploring the novel's depths. The task is
not for the faint-hearted, requiring a writer to unravel Faulkner's narrative puzzle with finesse
and offer a compelling analysis. It's a challenge that demands more than just a cursory
understanding of the novel, but a profound engagement with its complexities.

Essay on Home Schooling vs Public School
Home Schooling vs. Public Schooling

If you have children that are school age you have probably have thought about the
options of home schooling vs. public schooling. You most likely have thought about
how much would it cost or the amount of time it takes to teach home schooling. With
the news articles out there about things that happen at schools you most likely have
thought about how that would be on your child as well. One of the last things that
most parents think about when choosing to home school or not is how your child s
social skills will develop. There are many different articles out there on this topic.
The following essay will give you an indebt description of the ... Show more content

First we have to look at the home situation. It is not a secret that not all homes are
perfect, but a structured environment can lead to healthy study habits. Now the
same can happen in a school environment for some children. So, in turn, those
children can start to act out for the stress that comes with a school environment.
When there is a healthy home environment, these children would be comfortable
and be able to focus on the task at hand. Another reason a child might not
misbehave is because they know the consequences for their actions at home. When
a child is in a public school, there might not be much that can be done when a child
misbehaves and does something that is wrong. One of the biggest influences for
children in public schools is other children. Almost everything children do is to
look cool in front of their friend or to be popular. Children will tend to misbehave
when their friends are pressuring them to do so. Peer pressure is a hard thing to
deal with for a child. When children are home schooled, there is much less pressure
to be cool and there is more time to focuses on classwork. Now one of the last
things that parents worry about for their children is how their social skills will
develop if they are home schooling their children. Most people would argue that the
children are not developing the social skills needed, because they do not interact
with other children their own age. The University of Florida s Larry Shyers,

After he was a political journalist, he explored his interest into theater and did
exceptionally well. Two of his most enduring contributions to the theatre may well
be his stage performance of William Faulkner s Requiem for a Nun and The
Possessed. He could only produce and act for a short amount of time because of his
constant attacks of tuberculosis. At the beginning of the 1940 s he writes two of his
most famous novels The stranger and The Myth of Sisyphus. Those two novels
skyrocketed his popularity in France, and he started to become a popular author as
well as keep up with his producing and writing career for the theater. Camus joined
the resistance movement during the occupation and after the liberation was a

Autonomy Vs. Agency By Michael Crawford
Reflection 6: Autonomy versus Agency If we think about autonomy and agency in
the same term that Crawford does, it seems that he is right when he says that there
is a paradox there. It seems that in some ways autonomy and agency contradict each
other, or cancel each other out at times, and this is something that should make us
all stop and think about it. Crawford then goes on to talk about choice, freedom, and
autonomy and how these ideas feel as if they are being forced upon us rather than
being a choice. Also, Crawford talks about self realization in this section and how it
has become to having us buy new items rather than keeping old ones and fixing them.
Does all of these things mean that the world is attempting to train us to just accept
things the way they are? That is the real question.... Show more content on

This to me sounds like a contradiction, but it is the truth about the way we live in
our society today. We develop technology to make our lives easier, but then we do
not trust the technology to do the jobs or tasks correctly so we are right there next
to the machines or computers doing the same job with them. Why is that? If we are
going to work right next to the technology which we develop, then why are we
developing it? I also believe that our society thinks that independence is inefficient,
even though I cannot imagine why. We all need to depend on someone or something,
but some people stay too close to the things they are dependent
Lockheed L1011 Case Study, a Recommendation Essays
To: The Board of Directors
From: David F. Akin, Esq.
RE:Recommendation Regarding the Tri Start Wide body Aircraft Project
Date: 1971 early 72ish
Recommendation:
The L 1011 project should be canceled.
Cancelling the L 1011 project will increase shareholder value by $161.92 per share.
Excluding preproduction sunk costs, including a cost of capital 16%, and sales of
113 units and a per unit sales price of $16 million, the net present value (NPV) of
continuing with the Tri Star is $ 1,829,666,246.
Rationale for Decision:
Our original sales expectations were based on the assumption that we would capture
35% to 40% of the large body market. We further projected air travel growth of 10%.
This would result in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of considerable concern is that Boeing and McDonnel Douglas have a significant
head start in the market. In a shrinking market, the Tri Star, though far superior to
the competition, may have missed the window of opportunity. Airline revenues are
down while labor and fuel costs are rising. This will drive down demand for all
producers of wide body aircraft.
One final and significant concern is the subject of crashes due to explosive
decompression (See The Wave Dynamics of Explosive Decompression in Jumbo Jets
, by V.E. Haloulakas, Eng. D. 1975). Given our current financial condition, wrongful
death lawsuits from the families of 400 passengers from just one crash would
bankrupt the finest aircraft manufacturer the world has ever known. An average
wrongful death judgment of $300,000 would cost $120 million, excluding litigation
and potential punitive damages. This combined with the doubtful chances of this
project producing any profit makes canceling the project crucial to Lockheed s future.
Conclusion
Canceling this project is a restructuring theme that will have the goal of improving
overall profit margin through a narrower focus on the company s core military project
business. Our competitors are already well established in the civilian aircraft market.
We are not ignorant of the significant financial, emotional and reputational investment
Florence Nightingale Influence
In nursing school, I remembered learning about Florence Nightingale and her
impact in nursing. Still to this day, her teachings and work to advance nursing is
discussed. The nursing profession has grown and evolved a great deal since the
times of Nightingale. However, visionaries such as her and their theories have
been the ones making that happen. The first three American training schools for
nurses, modeled after Nightingale s famous school at St. Thomas Hospital in
London, opened in 1873 (Black, 2014, p. 26). As nursing grew and more work was
done to advance nursing as a profession, the developing of professional associations
such as ANA and NLNE helped further that goal. As author Black (2014) continues,
The precursor to the National League for Nursing, the American Society of
Superintendents of Training Schools for Nurses, was formed to address issues in
nursing education. The society changed its name in 1912 to the National League of
Nursing Education (NLNE) and in 1952 became the National League for Nursing
(NLN). This event held during the Chicago World s Fair became a pivotal point in
nursing history. Three years later, in 1896, Isabel Hampton Robb founded the group
that eventually became the American Nurses Association... Show more content on

Artemisia Gentileschi Essay
Artemisia Gentileschi
(1593 1653)
Considered one of the most important artists of the Baroque movement in Early
Modern Europe, Artemisia Gentileschi, had to prove herself and break down the
boundaries for a woman in a male dominated field. Artemisia was born in Rome on
July 8, 1953 to Orazio and Prudentia Monotone Gentileschi, who died when the
artist was only twelve years of age. Her upbringing was left to her father, who was
also a well known painter. He trained her since she was not permitted to learn in the
studios of successful artists of the moment. Orazio introduced his daughter to the
working artists of Rome including Caravaggio, whose tenebrism technique and
chiaroscuro style had a great influence on her paintings. ... Show more content on

Tassi denied all the accusations and brought several witnesses to testify on his
behalf, but possibly the most infuriating part of his testimony for Artemisia was
when he stated that on the day of the rape he was teaching her the rules of
perspective because her skills were pathetic. Nevertheless, Tassi was found guilty but
regrettably only served under a year in prison.
After the trial was over, Artemisia was married off to a Florentine artist by the
name of Pietro Antonio di Vincenzo Stiattesi in order to regain some of her
reputation. It is believed that the couple moved to Florence shortly after their
marriage, because Rome proved to be a very difficult place for them to live due to
the public notoriety Artemisia had received from the trial. During her marriage to
Pietro it is believed that the couple parented a daughter by the name of either
Prudentia or Palmira. Regrettably, the marriage did not last long, but there is
evidence that the couple worked at the Academy of Design in Florence and in 1616
Artemisia received the extraordinary honor of becoming an official member, most
likely due to the support of her patron, the Grand Duke Cosimo II member of the
notable and influential Medici family, whom had commissioned several of her
paintings.
Even though Artemisia had to struggle with many difficulties early in her life she
was able to draw strength from them and turn them into unique pieces of art. In the
words of John Loughery, Exacting craft is one
Difference Between Parallel Thinking And Argumentative...
Parallel thinking and argumentative thinking are two different types of thinking
method. Parallel thinking method is commonly known as six hats thinking, which
was invented by Dr. Edward de Bono in 1967(). According to the Oxford English
Dictionary (20xx), parallel thinking is a way of solving problems by using your
imagination to find new ways of looking at the problem. It indicates that all
participants are looking for the common goal at the same time and individual can
have constructive discussion with different ideas. On the other hand, argumentative
thinking method is for individual to think an ideaor opinion for the purpose of
persuade others and prove that my ideas are the best (). These two thinking methods
have their advantages and disadvantages, which... Show more content on

Although argumentative thinking method is said to discuss rationally with
reasonable opinions, this method always produce conflicts between the participants.
When an individual disagrees with one opinions In argumentative thinking method,
he is more likely to persuade others to be agree with his ideas as he thinks his ideas
are the best (). If the two members, who insist on their own opinion in a discussion,
there will be no breakthrough progress or new ideas come up (). In an argumentative
thinking, individuals seldom accept others ideas and the discussion is less likely to
end up with unanimous conclusion, such as the discussion between the Hong Kong
Government and The Hong Kong Federation of Students during the Occupy Central.
At the meeting, they kept repeating their personal views and ignored the opinions
from the opposite party, which made no progress in reaching a consensus. Also, the
discussion led to personal insult, which is definitely harmful for any relationships and
self esteem (). However, this situation seldom happens if parallel thinking method is

December 12, 2014
Abstract: This experiment was conducted to determine if the light of a glow stick
can be affected by the temperature of water. In this the researcher will try to find
what temperature of water makes a glow stick glow brighter and how long it will
stay lit. By proceeding in the experiment, the data collected proved the hypothesis to
be correct. Warmer water caused the glow stick to glow brighter than it had before.
On the other hand, the beaker with colder water made the stick stay lit longer and the
room temperature water didn t affect the glow stick as much. Glow sticks are
popular products that are used for fun and entertainment. Everyone knows what they

When the temperature changes so does the results. The blue stick, hot water, stayed
lit for 112 minutes (an hour and fifty two minutes). The green stick, which was room
temperature water, stayed lit for 96 minutes (an hour and thirty six minutes). And
lastly, the pink stick, in cold water, stayed lit the longest for 122 minutes (two hours
and two minutes).
The experiment could have had better results if done with multiple glow sticks. Make
sure that the thermometer is correct in the measurement of the water s temperature. It
is important that you get your data correct.
Conclusion
In the experiment, it was discovered that glow sticks will show more light and glow
brighter in water with higher temperatures than lower or room temperature. The
experiment proved that the hypothesis was correct in saying that warmer
temperatures would make a glow stick glow brighter. Though the hot water made the
glow stick brighter and dim faster, the cold water caused the stick to glow longer,
and the room temperature water didn t affect the green glow stick in any significant

The meal that I am going to source is Beshparmak, which, according to my Food

The main components of the meal are noodles, meat, sauce (onion and broth), and
some optional ingredients like potato. The meat is slowly cooked for
approximately 2.5 hours, so that it would not be tough. It is taken from the
resulting broth. Couple of eggs, 500 grams of flour, and 200 300 grams of water are

farmers as part of their stock, while monthly payment is given to those farmers for
their service. However, the possibility of having personal livestock rather than
buying from supermarkets from big industrial companies is costly, since not
everyone can allow themselves to maintain livestock in the country side. In the
villages, animals are freely grazing or given hay, while horses are able to tebenevat ,
which means that they are capable of finding food under the snow during the winter

Savagery In Piggy
Savagery takes time to unveil itself, this ignites with the verbal abuse of others.
While the young boys have just been introduced, it is shown who is most likely to
turn savage first based on their interactions with the other characters. The choir

Jack Merridew, the leader of the choir boys. takes an instant disliking to Piggy, You

of belonging. The use of verbal abuse as a sign of savagery is also shown when the
role of leadership is questioned amongst the group. Ralph is voted as a leader
amongst the boys of the island. This leads to many conflicts amongst the boys but
mainly leads to a conflict involving Jack. Jack strives to be the leader of the group
and bullies anyone he can because Jack needs to feel that sense of power and
authority that comes along with leadership. At a meeting that Ralph calls, Jack tries
to undermine Ralph and his leadership, And you shut up! Who are you, anyway?

The Value Of Property In Voltaire s Candide
When people decided to gather, communicate, and cooperate to make their livings
around beasts, they also had to decide the ownerships of trophies. That was the time
when the idea property was invented. Many wise men in the past, while thinking
about a better format for people living together, argued meanings of propertyto
people. British philosopher John Lockein his work Second Treatise of Government
separates property as public goods shared by all humans and necessities for living
created via labor. The value of property has changed over time, when later French
philosopher Voltairein his novel Candide, or Optimism expresses that property
becomes for what people in a world where Candide lives keep fighting: land, gold,
and even ownerships of women. Necessities and public goods becomes luxuries.
Voltaire s work shows this trend and it can explained by the worry about the risk of
losing current living standard in the future when easily accessible things are no more
available to everyone. In fact, Candide also reflects scarcity of property, a nature
which Locke never mentioned. Thus Candide is a strong critique to Second Treatise
of Government for the nature of property when Voltaire demonstrated scarcity in
material and philosophical ways in Candide.
The neglect of the scarcity of property caused by working time by Locke is obviously
shown when Locke and Voltaire express different ideas about currency. Locke
misunderstand the relationship between property and currency,

The Major Causes Of Globalization
The reshaping of countries in the latter half of the twentieth century due to nationalist
endeavours has resulted in a commonality across a wider spectrum. The wider
spectrum is a globalised community that is able to interact and therefore increase the
market (if you like) of foreign fighters. Urri defines globalisation as the increased
density of international and global interactions, compared with such interactions at
the local or national level . The CIAs forecast in 2000 predicted some of the major
affects of globalisation that is present today predicting Globalisation s evolution will
be rocky, marked by chronic financial volatility a widening economic divide where
regions, countries, and groups feeling left behind face deepening economic
stagnation, political instability, and cultural alienation. This will foster political,
ethnic, ideological, and religious extremism, along with the violence that often
accompanies it. As Cronin argues the trend of globalisation is seen as westernisation,
secularism, democratisation, consumerism, and the growth of market capitalism,
threatens what is perceived as the fundamental elements of certain societies, not to
mention the uneven distributions of wealth as a result. The gap between social
groups is prime territory for foreign fighters to step into to promote the common
feelings and experience of the ill effects of globalisation. The frustrations of
globalisation are gathered through global interactions and are able to gain momentum
in what Malet describes as transnational communities. As Malet points out citing
Tarrow, transnational social movements have grown in the latter half of the twenty
first century from one hundred in the 1950s to one thousand in 2003. This confirms
that people now see themselves more as a part of a transnational communityrather
than a local one. Transnational communities are formed by frustrated individuals and
groups who see themselves marginalised due to the macro changes initiated by
increased global interactions. Access to global markets and communications have
further perpetuated the sustainability of transitional organisations, strengthening
these communities. Global interaction have enabled individuals and organisations to

Kafka Dehumanization
Kafka s The Metamorphosis and Morrison s Beloved explore the idea of de
humanization. Morrison explores how the institution of slavery reinforces by de
humanizing in order to stay alive. Morrison fleshes out how slavery perpetually de
humanizes slaves by denying their free will. Franz Kafka uses the same language to
describe how the institution of modernity de humanizes its participants. Kafka
explores how modern society only values the person monetarily, and nothing else.
Kafka compares modernity to slaveryby revealing how modern society depends on a
form of dehumanization to survive, one in which the participants are willingly
dehumanized. Morisson s use of characters like Sethe and Paul D reveals how

Kafka does support this idea since he starts the story with a crisis; When Gregor
Samsa awoke from troubled dreams one morning, he found he had been
transformed in his bed into an enormous bug (Kafka 11). The start of the text is a
crisis; Gregor has turned from a human into a bug. Mikhail Bakhtin states that this
is a start of dehumanization, what was known to be self is now altered (Elimelekh
1). For Gregor, his humanity is questioned since, as a bug, Gregor displays multiple
legs, a soft stomach, and a hard shell back (Kafka 11). Kafka s describes how
Gregor leaves his bed as such: The fall was deadened somewhat by the carpet, and
in addition Gregor s back was more resilient than he thought (Kafka 16). Gregor
does not get up on two of his multiple feet and walk to the door. Instead, Gregor has
to fall off his bed, since his legs are now multiple bug legs, and Gregor needs more
than two legs to walk (Kafka 15). Mikhail excellently summarizes how this affects
Gregor: Motifs of dehumanization and metamorphosis are present, namely, the
gradual decline of man into beast (Elimelekh 27). Kafka displays Gregor as a man
who declines into a bug, Toni Morrison, on the other hand, explores the idea of beast

New technological progress may be the reason for the greatness of modern day
society, but it is imperative to know that new technologies are also going to be
responsible for the destruction of today s innovative and advanced world. In Mary
Shelley s important novel Frankenstein, she displays man s hunger for new technology
, and shows how that curiosity can lead to disaster. Shelley s views expressed are
still relevant, and society should react accordingly to her warning. Technology
becomes dangerous once it falls into the wrong hands and is abused for selfish or
immoral reasons. By relating this ideology to modern times, it is evident that
performance enhancing drugs were created to help athletes, but have done more harm
than help on America s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Barry Bonds exploited the monstrosity that performance enhancing drugs can cause,
but almost no blame can be placed on the creator of steroids, or the creator of any
other performance enhancing drug for that matter. On the other hand, Victor
Frankenstein should be held solely responsible for the monster his creation turned
into. All performance enhancing drugs were created for medical purposes, with the
men who discovered them having no idea that they could be used in such a harmful
way. In Dermot McEvoy s piece, Bonds Stirs the Drink, he talks about Nathan
Jendrick s views on steroids. While Jendrick recognizes steroids are not a bad drug, he
gives off the belief that it is just a drug that has fallen into the wrong hands too many
times by stating, It is steroid abuse that has and is destroying American athletics,
(McEvoy). This declaration that steroids are a good drug just used improperly by the
wrong people proves that the mastery of a new invention cannot solely stop it from
becoming monstrous. The center of one of Shelley s main arguments proposes that
Frankenstein s failure to master his creation caused it to turn monstrous. While her
argument contains truth, Shelley insinuates that the mastery of a new technology can
prevent disaster, and that contradicts what has been shown by performance enhancing
drugs. That part of Shelley s argument may not apply to the history of performance
enhancing drugs, but her claim that technology becomes monstrous once fallen into
the wrong hands proves the relevance of her argument towards performance
enhancing drugs. The distinct personality traits of Victor Frankenstein are eerily
similar to the characteristics of Barry Bonds and other performance enhancers.
Shelley describes Frankenstein as an
Herbert Hoover Contributions
Give a man a fish, and he eats for one day, teach a man to fish, and he eats for a
lifetime. Hoover did not want Americans to become reliant on government aid and
this optimism that Americans could overcome the greatest economic crisis is what
later made him one of the most disliked presidents in history.
Hoover continued to work as a mining engineer, although he had a strong desire for
public service. Hoover identified himself as a Republican. World War 1 put Herbert
Hoover in the forefront of American politics. When the war broke out in London,
the U.S consul contacted Hoover and asked him to organize an evacuation of over
100,000 Americans trapped in Europe. Hoover and many of his wealthy friends
came together and created the Committee for the Relief of Belgium, after Germany
s brutal invasion of Belgium. Hoover successful pulled this off without any
government help; he was able to gain several millions of dollars to supply Belgians
with much needed medicine and food. Hoover ran the U.S. Food Administration at
the request of President Woodrow Wilson. Hoover did quite well as the head of the
U.S. Food Administration in leading the effort to preserve food and essential
supplies that helped aid European allies. During the war, Hoover had become a
household name and the verb Hooverize was used, and that meant to ration
household supplies. World War 1 officially ended in November of 1918 when the
armistice treaty was signed. President Wilson then appointed Hoover to lead
The Similarities Of The Flood Characters Of Gilgamesh
And...
Though Gilgamesh and Genesis are completely different stories, they both contain
flood narratives that have similarities and differences within each. The three
comparable points in these texts deal with the gods and heroes of the stories. First
the gods in these narratives all have a specific reason behind their decision to wipe
out mankind. Second the unique characteristics of the heroes or survivors of the
flood are shown throughout the events of the texts. Finally the gods who bring these
floods upon earthall reveal their qualities through their actions against humanity.
These three topics relate from one book to another in many ways. Before each of the
floods there are reasons that each goddecides to eliminate the people on earth. In
Gilgamesh the god Enlil chooses to destroy humanity with a flood because it is the
best way to get rid of the individuals who have sinned. After the flood the god Ea
says Let him who has performed an evil act be punished for that act. Let not the
flood be brought down on the heads of all for what one man has done... (Ferry 74).
This statement shows how Enlil punished all of mankind when most of them weren t
to blame. On the contrary, in GenesisGods motive for destroying humanity with a
flood is that the world was turning evil and cruel, which was not what God intended.
God s thoughts are shown through the following quote The Lord saw that the
wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts

Summary Of The Film Imperfekt Strangers
The film Imperfekt Strangers revolves around a pseudo Christian cult the Faith
Community that is based in Bloomington, Indiana. In the film, there are two Indiana
University students who are roommates with two members of the cult. This movie
reflects from actual events that happened in the 1970s in Bloomington, Indiana. The
pseudo Christian cult the Local Church that was held in Bloomington was led by
Witness Lee who tried to gain members through college students and others around in
the city ( Are ). Throughout the film, the two roommates who are part of the cult tries
to convince the other two roommates, Steve and Tyler to join the cult. However,
tension builds up with the cult members and the students when they would not
convert and Steve s best friend Richie ends up joining the Christian cult. Furthermore,
Steve and Tyler end up worried and concerned around the other roommates because
their practices of following Christianityare eerie; they become uncomfortable with
the other followers who would also come to the house to preach. Likewise, Steve
and Tyler then confront their roommate Matty that they do not want to partake in the
cult. At the end, the two roommates Harold and Matty leaves Tyler and Steve. Due
to the film being based on true events, Matt Walls character Tyler is deemed to be
the most believable character in the film and convincing that all these events are
naturally occurring on a day to day basis.
At first, Tyler is accepting of his roommates Harold
How Does Bogg Show Interpersonal Communication
I am not complete (Burton, Edward Scissorhands). Edward, a nearly complete
creation made by an old inventor who died before he could be given his real hands,
finds himself living in isolation in a spooky mansion for seventeen long years
before he is discovered by his future caregiver, Peg Boggs. Aside from the fact that
he was given a fearsome set of scissors in the place of hands, Edward is also ill
equipped to interact and communicate with the people of the outside world.
Outside of the book of manners the inventor would read to him about how to
properly act in certain situations, Edward didn t have any human interaction until
Peg (a door to door Avon associate) drove up to his mansion and discovered Edward.
Upon finding him, she noticed all the cuts on his face because of his scissor hands
and decided that he needed to be with a real family so she adopted him into her
home. Initially, his arrival... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of Edward and Peg however, Peg is shown to exhibit a very motherly,
empathetic style of listening whenever Edward is reminded of his flaws. As time
progresses, Edward begins to develop a love for Peg s daughter, Kim, which sparks
problems within the suburbia, most notably Jim, Kim s love interest. It is at this
point that Edward s role as an outcast is defined most clearly and frequently by the
neighborhood people. It is at this point when Edward most needs Peg s empathetic
style of listening. Of all the characters in the film, Peg (along with Kim), is the only
character that shows genuine concern for Edward and engages in people oriented
listening (McCornack 174) and listens to
Analysis Of The Circumplex Model In On Golden Pond
The Circumplex Model: Adaptability and Flexibility Throughout On Golden Pond,
it is apparent that Chelsea, Norman, and Ethel are rigidly enmeshed. According to
Olson s circumplex model, rigidly enmeshed families have authoritarian leadership,
strict discipline, roles rarely change, there is too little change. Additionally,
enmeshment in families is illustrated by very high closeness, very high loyalty,
high dependency, and a lack of individuality (Sanders Bell, 2011). Although
Chelsea is distant with her family in the number of visits it is an artificial distance
of time and space. They are strongly emotionally entangled as demonstrated through
the ability of the family to emotionally affect one and other. Slightly like the
characters in On Golden Pond, the family in Stepmom appear to be chaotically
enmeshed. The circumplex model claims families who are chaotic present with a
lack of leadership, erratic discipline, dramatic role shifts, and too much change
(Sanders Bell, 2011). Chaos is present in the structure of the two living environments
of the children: one environment is structured and the other one is disorderly. This
leads to confusion for the children because the system lacks consistency.
Enmeshment is personified through the children s emotional fusion with their
mother. When Jackie is upset with Isabel, the children are upset with Isabel. The
children and the mother s emotions are intertwined. On the other hand, Rita
slightly contrasts the two families above as she appears to be rigidly disengaged
instead of enmeshed. Rita and Denny are not intimately close. This is illustrated as
Rita responds to a question by saying, loyalty? I [have] you know, I [have] tried to
explain it to my husband ... I think he [is] thick (Gilbert, 1983). Rita s family lacks
the flexibility to change. People get married and have kids. There is no self
exploration, enlightenment, and adaptability is absent. The Concrete Content and
Abstract Process Norman characterized several content and process issues throughout
On Golden Pond. The first part of the movie exposes Norman s fixation on his age
and pending death. From his confrontation with the kids, while refueling his boat to
his efforts about getting a job,

Project Management Team For Developing The Automated...
Abstract
Despite the change of times and emergence of internet technology, traditional
methodologies for project management are still vastly used today. In this paper, I will
discuss the two development methodologies, the traditional development
methodology (Waterfall) and the modern development methodology (Agile, Iterative)
in great detail to examine which development methodology of the two mentioned
should be opted and be favorable for the project management team for developing the
automated system for Grand Acres Golf Course.
Key Words: Traditional methodology, Modern methodology, Agile approach,
Waterfall approach

The dictionary meaning of agile is ability to move quickly and easily and this is the
key aspect of Agile approach. It is a team based, iterative approach to development
that emphasizes on rapid delivery and completing all functional components while the
client is kept involved as part of the development process (Lotz 2013).
The Traditional development method.
The traditional development method requires the definition and documentation of a
stable set of requirements at the beginning of the project. It was inherited by other
projects mainly related to construction which focused on the completion of one phase
of production before moving on to the next phase, for example, laying the foundations
of a building first and then proceeding with the further stages (Bowes 2014).
Similarly, in Waterfall, the requirement gathering and designing work is done upfront
before any coding takes place. The basic notion behind the traditional development
approaches is that the projects are comparatively less complex, linear and predictable
with clearly defined system boundaries which makes it simple to plan and follow
without having any room for changes (Spundak 2014). Moreover, traditional
development method depicts the requirements document as he key piece of
documentation. The gathering of all the requirements, getting a sign off from the
customer and then starting with the development of the project gives the project a

The Importance Of Unfairness In Under The Blood Red Sun
Do you know what a Japan family goes through once they move in America back
then? In the novel, Under the Blood Red Sun , Graham Salisbury writes about a
Japanese family moving into Hawaii and what activities and hobbies they do. The
Japanese army attacks Pearl Harbor and because of this event their racer pigeons
and Tomi s Papa and Grandpa are taken away. The author teaches the reader about
how everything isn t fair, bravery, and to treat others the way you want to be
treated. The quote in the conversation between Tomi and the American soldier
shows unfairness by stating, Destroy them , the man said to Grampa. It took a
couple of seconds to hit me. What! I said. The local guy grabbed my arm. Hold on
son. They have to go. But why? They re just racers [pigeons]... No one sends any
messages on them (Salisbury 126). The quote is about an American soldier going into
Tomi s house. The soldier said that someone told them that they had pigeons that were
sending messages to the Japanese army. Once he sawthe pigeons, they told them to
killthe pigeons even though they were racer pigeons. So it is unfair that they had to
kill their pigeons. Another part in the book shows unfairness to Tomi s Papa and
Grampa. ...They treating you okay, Tomi? ... They come arrest your father... and
your Grandfather? (Salisbury 183). It shows unfairness because his Grampa and his
Papa are arrested because they re Japanese. Finally, Tomi, Rico, and Billy s baseball
team are given unfairness in the

lock box is for the patients carries, and comes with 2 keys for each side of the box.
Don t lose it and take care of it.
New Patient (Initial Patient Assessment Form)
Always ask the doctors if they want a new patient before creating a new patient

everything else blank. (Make sure to explain to the patient how sampling works.)

Call the pharmacy and confirm the patient s last dose. Fill in the last dose on the
page that has been faxed over once the dose amount has been confirmed. We can t
restart a patient while in jail because they have access to an in house doctor. On
weekends we are able to send a script only if the doctor has given us permission and
a signed script. (If a patient is only doing weekends make a note in the patients chart
and talk to the doctor.) Other than that there is nothing I can do.
The Women Of Beauty
Women across the globe face this pressure to live up to a certain standard of beauty.
Women will dye their hair, wax their eyebrows, and some even spend thousands of
dollars on plastic surgery, all in an attempt to fit society s perception of beauty.
African American women and women of color in particular struggle to embrace their
own unique beauty, especially when dealing with things such as skin complexion, hair
, and Afrocentric facial features. People have grown up in a society that leads them
to believe that beauty can be achieved if you have fair skin, straight hair, or having
the ideal body Societies views on what is attractive, can persuade another person s
views on attraction. Attraction is partially biological, but also social. Which is why it
is important to have a vast selection of beautiful women to show case that not only
Eurocentric features are attractive. African Americanwomen and other women of
color need more representations of women that look like them in the media. We need
more shows and movies, portraying images of womanof color as beautiful. . Out
there in the world, is a young black/brown girl, who is idealizing Barbie s, celebrities,
and characters that look nothing like her, causing her to feel unaccepted for her
Afrocentric features. I am also concerned about the young girls growing up in this
generation. It breaks my heart to see young beautiful girls that have been brainwashed
with the mentality that being beautiful means being light skin and
Character Foils Between Alexander Hamilton And Aaron

In class, our recent discussions have been focused on the broadway musical
Hamilton as well as the life of Alexander Hamilton. The musical is centralized
around Hamilton s life with numerous key characters playing as a foil to the character
himself. One major character foil in particular, is the foil between Alexander Hamilton
and Aaron Burr. Throughout the musical, we identify the characterfoil between the
two friends, their defining characteristics, similarities, and the key differences
between them. Alexander Hamilton is the protagonist of the musical. The entire
show follows his rise and fall during the American Revolution and first few decades
of American history. Born on an island in the Caribbean and eventually orphaned,
Hamilton lived a rough childhood. At the humble age of fourteen, Hamilton is placed

Though the two argued during the first act of the musical, they still considered each
other friends, until Hamilton s career continuously moved forward and Burr s became
stagnant. When Hamilton endorses Thomas Jefferson for President instead of Burr,
Burr becomes so enraged that he challenges Hamilton to a duel, during which he
shoots and kills his adversary. Shortly after, Burr expresses regret at killing
Hamilton. Though the antagonist, Burr is a sympathetic and complex character. He
is similar to Hamilton in his intelligence and motivation, but he deviates from other
similarities because of his lack of head on problem solving unlike Hamilton. Burr
often waits to see how things will turn out before taking action. He also does not
have strong opinions like Hamilton. He switches parties just to run for a seat in the
Senate, which would advance his position, and happens to replace Hamilton s father
in law, Philip Schuyler. TALK MORE ON HIS CHARACTERISTICS AND

Perceived Desire Fulfilment Theory Essay
In this essay, I will explain and discuss four main theories of happiness, and defend
why the perceived desire fulfilment theory is my preferred theory of happiness,
based on its usefulness for not only the individual, but also society as a whole, and
the fact that it lacks any very glaring faults. Firstly, I will lay out and extrapolate
upon the four popular theories of happinessthat this essay will be discussing hedonism
, life satisfaction theory, objective list theory, and finally, my preferred choice;
perceived desire satisfaction theory. After this, I will explain the faults in the first
three theories that prevent me from preferring them, and how perceived desire
satisfaction theory circumvents these faults. I will then discuss various objections
concerning the perceived desire fulfilment theory, and why I believe that these
objections are compared to the objections about the other theories presented not that
important. Finally, I will summarise the various ways in which I believe perceived
desire fulfilment theory is more useful and more easily applied than... Show more

Happiness and efforts to objectively measure and define it is a topic that, to this day,
remains hotly debated and theorised. Trying to make objective something that is seen
as inherently subjective is difficult, if not impossible, but that fact has yet to deter
philosophers putting forward theories for what constitutes happiness, and how to
achieve it. One popular happiness theory is that of hedonism. Originally stemming
from Bentham s utilitarianism theories, hedonism s argument for happiness is very
simple; a happy life is one where the person maximises feelings of pleasure and
minimises feelings of pain, similar to how a utilitarian would want to
Should People Be Allowed To Keep Animals In Captivity
Animals in Captivity
Everyday people go to zoos with intentions of having a good time without realizing
they are paying for animals to be held in captivity for the rest of their lives. In recent
discussion, the decision to keep animals in captivity is a very controversial topic.
Many people are towards the decision that zookeepers should keep the wild animals
captive for the entertainment of others, while on the contrary many are against it.
However nobody has done anything to get the animals out. The people who are
against setting them free believe that the animals are living a much better life than
they would outside and that they are better for keeping entertainment for the public
but what they do not see is what happens when the zoo is closed and how they are
treated outside of the public s eye, which is what the people who are against it tend
to see. Not only do animals not like being held in captivity but also it gives them

Many animals never see life outside of cages because they are taken in from when
they are babies and kept until they die. With zoos existing for hundreds of years
people have never noticed how wrong it is to keep animals in cages. Animals all
over the world are affected because they get taken away and never know what it is
really like to live in the wild. Zoos are not a perfect place to keep animals, more
animals are abused and hurt inside of zoos. One day a wallaby was suppose to be
getting taken care of by its zookeeper but the zookeeper was not paying attention
because the wallaby drowned in a bucket of water. In another case a spider monkey
had frost bite but was not treated soon enough so zookeepers were forced to
euthanize the spider monkey (Jouvenal). More accidents take place inside of zoos
than they would if animals were released to the wild. Everyday animals die in
captivity due to zookeepers that don t pay attention to the

Thesis Statement For William The Conqueror
Outline
Introduction to My Topic William the Conqueror
William the Conqueror or known as William the Bastard to his enemies, played a
huge role in developing England into the country that it is today. (1)
It is important to know the history behind how countries became so powerful.
Thesis statement Without the help of William the Conqueror, England would not be
as powerful a country as it is today. (1)
II. Early life A. Childhood 1. When William was a little boy, he was constantly in
danger since he was on the line to become the next king. His guards had to smuggle

his childhood, three of William s guards were murdered along with his tutor.
Somehow, his mother always ensured that little William would be safe. The battles
that William fought as a child only made him stronger for the battles he would fight
later on in his life. (4) 2. When William was only eight years old he became the

Peggy McIntosh s White Privilege And Male Privilege Essay
Privileges are things that a person receives that gives them an advantage over most
people (Merriam Webster). These are benefits that only certain people receive for
being in a certain group or discourse. Peggy McIntosh, director of the Wellesley
College Center for Research on Women, wrote White Privilege and Male Privilege
and states I think whites are carefully taught not to recognize white privileges, as
males are taught not to recognize male privilege (605). She argues that whites and
males receive certain privileges, yet they do not even notice them. This shows that
different races and women are still put at a disadvantage, but the people who receive
the benefits are blind to the problem. Many people will argue that she is correct...

They also shelter it by keeping it a secret from their own so they never see it as an
advantage. Shannon Sullivan wrote the book Revealing Whiteness: The
Unconscious Habits of Racial Privilege . She does agree with McIntosh that whites
do in fact receive these hidden privileges. In her book she wrote Blithely wrapped up
in a white world, white people often do not see their own ignorance and cannot be
faulted for not addressing it... (18). Sullivan explains that white people do not
realize that they are receiving these certain benefits for just being white. They also
can t fix this problem until they realize that they are privileged. The privileges that
they receive are mainly social benefits, which probably why they are hard to see.
McIntosh give an example by saying, I can go shopping alone most of the time,
pretty well assured that I will not be followed or harassed (607). This is one of the
many over looked privileges that people don t seem to notice. In the book White
Teachers/Diverse Classrooms , written by Landsman, Julie, and Lewis, they also
support this idea by giving an example of this certain privilege not applying to a
person of color, even to the president of Brown University, Ruth Simmons. Simmons
was followed and question as she walk the aisles of a major department store (11).
Despite the fact that she was president of Brown University, she was stilled harassed

college students consume more alcohol to fit in with their peers. Prior research has

drinking and their own levels of alcohol consumption because they use men as a
frame of reference when responding to questions about the typical student s drinking
habits (Borsari Carey, 2003; Korcuska Thombs, 2003; Lewis Neighbors, 2004).
Alternatively, the gender difference in other self gap scores may reflect a greater
susceptibility to peer pressure among males. In their longitudinal analysis of other
self discrepancies in perceived comfort with campus drinking practices, Prentice and
Miller (1993) found that males were more likely than females to adopt attitudes
toward alcohol use that matched what they believed to be normative. Women are also
more likely than their male counterparts to state that they would be able to resist
situational pressures conducive to drinking in a variety of hypothetical situations
(Shore et al., 1983). Presumably this is due to the fact that men experience more
pressure from others to drink. Students themselves acknowledge this gender
difference. They also believe that women are more inclined to suffer
Pros And Cons Of Diagnostic Testing
The diagnostic tools that I have seen used at the clinic where I do my practicum
includes incision and drainage (I D) of the abscesses, rapid strep throat testing,
influenza swab, urine dip stick testing, and slit lamp examination. These diagnostic
testing provide quick result that aids with the diagnosis of the patients. The
advantages of the I D include pain and discomfort relief and faster healing time and
its disadvantages an increased risk for cellulitis and the reappearance of the pus in
incision site when the incision site is not large enough (Domino, Baldor, Golding,
Stephens, 2017). In terms of rapid strep throat testing, the pros include the ability to
know the next course of action in a matter of five (5) minutes and ensure that the
patient receive appropriate treatment. The cons include the chances of having a false
positive or false negative result if not properly collected and if correctly swabbed, the
discomfort that the patient feels. In addition, if the result is negative and the
constitutional symptoms show otherwise, sending the culture to the main hospitalto
determine the other strains of the Streptococcus would take approximately 3 days and

Since the stick that is used to swab needs to go all the way to the nasopharynx,
some patients do not tolerate it very well. There is an increased risk of spreading
the virus due to the uncontrollable sneezing that results from the swab. On a
positive note, unnecessary testing is avoided if the patients are low risk and shows
obvious signs and symptoms of the flu and the duration of their illness. As Lab Tests
Online Australasia (2018) stated, the test should be done as soon as possible so that
the virus strain that shed during the first few days is determined. An anti viral
medication (Tamiflu) for influenza A B is given during the first 48 hours of
symptom onset if that is the case, otherwise it would not be

Essay about Case Study 2 Emre BULUT
BA 5802 Financial Management Case Study 2Emre BULUT Lex Service PLC
Cost of Capital2056281 Questions: 1. Why is Lex Service PLC concerned about
its cost of capital in 1993? What role will an estimate of the cost of capital play
within Lex? In general, how can and do companies make use of cost of capital
estimates? Since there are significant changes in the company for the last 3 years
such as descending trend in car and truck market in 1991, sale of one of their core
electronics business, terminated Volvo agreement etc.; the company thinks that their
financial value (equity and debt ratios and weights) and accordingly cost of capital
is changed. Also company has free cash (derived from the sales of electronics... Show

As risk premium given average on long term equity annual return is used. Since it
is not easy to observe the market premium, long term historical data on equity
return is better. c. Is your estimate of Lex s cost of equity appropriate as a discount
rate for Lex s total operating cash flows? Why or why not? For future cash flows,
evaluation is done with WACC rate which consists from cost of equity and cost of
debt in a weighted average. In this case, using cost of equity is not appropriate
since we doesn t know cost of debt and weights of equity and debt, it doesn t reflect
the actual rate for WACC. 3. If Lex had no debt in its capital structure, what would
be its cost of capital? How could this estimate be used to value Lex? If Lex
operated with essentially no leverage in its capital structure and then added a
moderate amount of debt, how would this affect its total value? How might we
capture this value impact of debt in our valuation analysis? If company doesn t
have any debt, it means that WACC is equal to cost of equity. There are two ways
of increasing capital, (1) using debt and (2) issuing new shares. For profitable
companies sometimes it is cheaper to use debt instead of issuing new shares since
cost of debt is tax shielded. In this case company didn t have any debt in past which
means less default risk, it will affect total value in a positive way. It will decrease
the taxes paid and increase net income, accordingly share values. 4.
Examples Of Fracking
One of the unethical considerations to put into perspective is the sophisticated use of
Hacking/cracking. Hacking To gain unauthorized access to data in a system or
computer . Also cracking, which is the technique of the modification of software to
remove or disable features which are considered undesirable by the person . The
unlawful and unethical use of these techniques have the features and sophistication to
create devastation and destruction to our lives through the exploitation of technology.
For example, as shown in Die Hard 4, this movie visually demonstrates how Hacking
was frequently used to exploit technology to create a fire sale . This was used to
achieve unethical outcomes to hackers which would cause devastation, unrest
Argumentatives On Tattoos
Tattoos have become the newest trend in the 21st century, with 40 percent of
millennials having a tattoo. We have seen a major jump of people with tattoos in the
past 20 years (npr.org). But even though so many people have tattoos, many of them
don t know the long term effects tattoos can have on your body. I believe there are
many reasons why tattoos should be banned in America.
First of all, tattoos can negatively affect your career, especially if your tattoo is
visible. There are many workplaces where body art is banned in its dress code.
Body art isn t allowed in many workplaces because some people feel uncomfortable
around other people who have tattoos. Tattoos can also determine which career
paths you will take. A survey was conducted by careerbuilder.com, to find out if
tattoos had an effect on someone s career. Their studies showed that 31 percent of
HR managers said that visible tattoos has a negative impact on whether on not they
will hire that person. Tattoos can also have a negative effect on the owner or boss
of the company because most of them don t like tattoos. This is because many
middle age and older Americans, which is how old many business owners are,
associate tattoos with bikers, convicts, and gang members (psychcentral.com). Even
if the owner isn t middle aged, many of the customers of the business are over the age
of 40. In addition, tattoos are very painful and expensive. The tattoo artists usually
price the tattoo depending on how long the tattoo

The Fate Of Foes In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
The Fate of Foes Could the deaths of the most famous lovers of all time from the
greatest love story this world has ever seen been avoided? Romeo and Juliet
written by William Shakespeare is a thrilling play in which two star crossed lovers
from rival families spiral through a series of unfortunate events before killing
themselves out of love for each other. Fate is the sole cause of the deaths of Romeo
and Juliet as Shakespeare s diction gives commanding hints to fate, there was a
greater cause for the deaths, and the overwhelming amount of coincidences falsify the
idea that freedom of choice was the cause. The unusual amount of fate related words
used by Shakespeare demonstrates the couple s destiny was set to have them perish
in the same... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Romeo and Juliet had both committed suicide the Prince was making sense
of the situation, Where be these enemies? Capulet, Montague, See what a scourge
is laid upon your hate, And I, for winking at your discords too, Have lost a brace of
kinsmen. All are punished (5.3.301 305). This explains that the deaths of Romeo
and Juliet were a punishment for the feud between the Capulets and Montagues a
likely explanation for why fate caused the deaths. Also, fate may have stopped the
fighting to avoid any other deaths related to the feud. While this is one of the big
causes for fate to have the lovers killed another one is also relevant. When
Shakespeare is summarizing the play to the audience he states something significant
about the result of the lovers deaths: Doth with their death bury their parents strife.
The fearful passage of their death marked love and the continuance of their parents
rage, which, but their children s end, naught could remove (Pro.8 11). The greater
good is demonstrated in this passage as it explains that the deaths of Romeo and
Juliet brought their fighting families together. This bigger cause is the main reason
why fate decided to kill the lovers. In conclusion, fate is shown to have caused the
deaths because their are two relevant reasons for fate to have done

Does Notch Delta Interact At New Adherens Junction...
1)Does Notch Delta interact at new adherens junction interface formed between the
two sister cells?
There is evidence in vertebrates developing brains that Notch activation occurs at the
level of adherens junction and it is restricted to the two sister cells after division. Our
preliminary observations that sister cells share a stable new adherens junctions
interface suggests that Notch Delta interactions may occur at this place. To test
whether Notch Delta interact at new adherens junction formed between the two sister
cells we will first assess whether Notch receptor is activated in this region. For that
we will express Notch receptor 1a and 1b tagged with photoconvertible fluorescent
protein Dendra as previously described in drosophila: and mouse: . We will
photoconvert Notch Dendra at new adherens junction interface and trace the nuclear
translocation of Notch intracellular domain. Accordingly to our initial hypothesis
Notch1 Dendra photoconverted at the new adherens junction interface but not
elsewhere will translocate to the nucleus. Adherens junction will be labeled by Par3
GFP or CFP and new adherens junction interface will be monitored by live imaging
as shown in fig..
To complement these experiments we will determine whether Delta Notch interact
at new adherens junctions interface by tagging Notch ligands (zDelta 1, 2 and 3)
and receptors with non fluorescent split GFP fragments (GFP exons 1 10 and GFP
exon 11) (ref). We predict that once Delta and Notch
A Security Plan for Businesses by Virtual Protectors
Today business is moving faster than it ever has before. With the Internet and e
commerce, even brick and mortar businesses are now open twenty four hours a day
and seven days a week. However, there are security threats that linger with this new
age of business that need to be mitigated. According to a survey by the National
Cyber SecurityAlliance (NCSA) and Symantec, a company that offers security
solutions, seventy seven percent of small businesses believe that they will not fall
victim to security issues (Symantec, 2012). Even more alarming is that the survey
found that eighty three percent of these businesses did not have any form of security
plan. The projected growth of the Deli and Dessert Co. (DAD s) makes it essential to
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them might accidentally bring risk upon the company, while others might
do it deliberately. According to a survey conducted by Ponemon Institute (2012, p. 2),
seventy eight percent of businesses had experienced a security issue due to
employees within the past two years. Another huge risk revolves around the fact that
DAD s is a small business. Cybercriminals are eager to attack small businesses
because they know that these businesses are less likely to have proper protections
in place due to budget constraints. Although large businesses like Target are more
likely to make the news, a small business is more apt to experience dire
consequences of a security breach including significant financial loss and business
failure. In formulating a security plan for DAD s, it is necessary to have an
understanding of the different types of attacks on computers. Again, employees can
be the weak link here since a lack of education may result in their enabling an attack.
Most attacks are a result of malware. Malware can be defined as software that enters
a computer system without the user s knowledge or consent and then performs an
unwanted and usually harmful action (Ciampa, 2014, p. 77). Some examples of
malware include: viruses, worms, Trojans, rootkits, backdoors, keyloggers, arbitrary
code execution, buffer overflow attacks, botnets, spyware, adware, and scareware.

  • 1. The Sound And The Fury Essay Crafting an essay on "The Sound and the Fury" poses a considerable challenge, demanding a deep understanding of William Faulkner's intricate narrative techniques, complex characters, and the novel's underlying themes. The task requires not just a surface-level analysis but a nuanced exploration of the characters' perspectives, the non-linear structure, and the symbolic elements embedded in the text. The novel's narrative complexity, with its shifting perspectives and temporal disarray, demands a meticulous approach to ensure a coherent and insightful essay. Tackling the intricate psychology of characters like Benjy, Quentin, and Jason Compson necessitates a keen literary analysis and an ability to navigate the intricacies of Faulkner's stream-of-consciousness style. Moreover, addressing the novel's broader themes such as time, memory, and the decline of the Southern aristocracy requires a nuanced understanding of historical and cultural contexts. The integration of critical perspectives and scholarly analysis further adds to the depth expected in an essay on "The Sound and the Fury." Effective communication of ideas and interpretations is paramount, as is the ability to weave a cohesive argument that unveils the novel's layers without succumbing to confusion. It's not merely about summarizing the plot but about engaging critically with the text, demonstrating an awareness of literary theory, and presenting a unique perspective. In conclusion, navigating the intricacies of "The Sound and the Fury" for an essay demands intellectual rigor, literary acumen, and a dedication to exploring the novel's depths. The task is not for the faint-hearted, requiring a writer to unravel Faulkner's narrative puzzle with finesse and offer a compelling analysis. • 2. Essay on Home Schooling vs Public School Home Schooling vs. Public Schooling By: Krystal Walls Krystalwalls1212@yahoo.com Eastern If you have children that are school age you have probably have thought about the options of home schooling vs. public schooling. You most likely have thought about how much would it cost or the amount of time it takes to teach home schooling. With the news articles out there about things that happen at schools you most likely have thought about how that would be on your child as well. One of the last things that most parents think about when choosing to home school or not is how your child s social skills will develop. There are many different articles out there on this topic. The following essay will give you an indebt description of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First we have to look at the home situation. It is not a secret that not all homes are perfect, but a structured environment can lead to healthy study habits. Now the same can happen in a school environment for some children. So, in turn, those children can start to act out for the stress that comes with a school environment. When there is a healthy home environment, these children would be comfortable and be able to focus on the task at hand. Another reason a child might not misbehave is because they know the consequences for their actions at home. When a child is in a public school, there might not be much that can be done when a child misbehaves and does something that is wrong. One of the biggest influences for children in public schools is other children. Almost everything children do is to look cool in front of their friend or to be popular. Children will tend to misbehave when their friends are pressuring them to do so. Peer pressure is a hard thing to deal with for a child. When children are home schooled, there is much less pressure to be cool and there is more time to focuses on classwork. Now one of the last things that parents worry about for their children is how their social skills will develop if they are home schooling their children. Most people would argue that the children are not developing the social skills needed, because they do not interact with other children their own age. The University of Florida s Larry Shyers,

Albert Camus was an interesting intellectual during the 1940s and 50s. He was more than just a writer; he was a top class individual that lived life to the fullest, even though it was short lived for him. In 1960 car accident and died January 4th (Rhein). At the time of Camus death, he was only 46. In that short time he was more than just a writer; he was also an actor, playwright, political writer, owned his own newspaper, leader of the French resistance during World War II, part owner of a theater in France, and also a Nobel Prizewinner. After he was a political journalist, he explored his interest into theater and did exceptionally well. Two of his most enduring contributions to the theatre may well be his stage performance of William Faulkner s Requiem for a Nun and The Possessed. He could only produce and act for a short amount of time because of his constant attacks of tuberculosis. At the beginning of the 1940 s he writes two of his most famous novels The stranger and The Myth of Sisyphus. Those two novels skyrocketed his popularity in France, and he started to become a popular author as well as keep up with his producing and writing career for the theater. Camus joined the resistance movement during the occupation and after the liberation was a columnist for the newspaper Combat. (Nobelprize.org). He was part of the French resistance as the Nazis tried to take over France. During that time, he always would become a columnist and later a publisher for The Combat from 1947 until his death. During the war, Camus had married again, had twins, praised the Americans use of the Atomic Bomb and got criticized for it, wrote two novels, and still and productions at The Theater of
  • 4. Autonomy Vs. Agency By Michael Crawford Reflection 6: Autonomy versus Agency If we think about autonomy and agency in the same term that Crawford does, it seems that he is right when he says that there is a paradox there. It seems that in some ways autonomy and agency contradict each other, or cancel each other out at times, and this is something that should make us all stop and think about it. Crawford then goes on to talk about choice, freedom, and autonomy and how these ideas feel as if they are being forced upon us rather than being a choice. Also, Crawford talks about self realization in this section and how it has become to having us buy new items rather than keeping old ones and fixing them. Does all of these things mean that the world is attempting to train us to just accept things the way they are? That is the real question.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This to me sounds like a contradiction, but it is the truth about the way we live in our society today. We develop technology to make our lives easier, but then we do not trust the technology to do the jobs or tasks correctly so we are right there next to the machines or computers doing the same job with them. Why is that? If we are going to work right next to the technology which we develop, then why are we developing it? I also believe that our society thinks that independence is inefficient, even though I cannot imagine why. We all need to depend on someone or something, but some people stay too close to the things they are dependent

RE:Recommendation Regarding the Tri Start Wide body Aircraft Project Date: 1971 early 72ish Recommendation: The L 1011 project should be canceled. Cancelling the L 1011 project will increase shareholder value by $161.92 per share. Excluding preproduction sunk costs, including a cost of capital 16%, and sales of 113 units and a per unit sales price of $16 million, the net present value (NPV) of continuing with the Tri Star is $ 1,829,666,246. Rationale for Decision: Our original sales expectations were based on the assumption that we would capture 35% to 40% of the large body market. We further projected air travel growth of 10%. This would result in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of considerable concern is that Boeing and McDonnel Douglas have a significant head start in the market. In a shrinking market, the Tri Star, though far superior to the competition, may have missed the window of opportunity. Airline revenues are down while labor and fuel costs are rising. This will drive down demand for all producers of wide body aircraft. One final and significant concern is the subject of crashes due to explosive decompression (See The Wave Dynamics of Explosive Decompression in Jumbo Jets , by V.E. Haloulakas, Eng. D. 1975). Given our current financial condition, wrongful death lawsuits from the families of 400 passengers from just one crash would bankrupt the finest aircraft manufacturer the world has ever known. An average wrongful death judgment of $300,000 would cost $120 million, excluding litigation and potential punitive damages. This combined with the doubtful chances of this project producing any profit makes canceling the project crucial to Lockheed s future. Conclusion Canceling this project is a restructuring theme that will have the goal of improving overall profit margin through a narrower focus on the company s core military project business. Our competitors are already well established in the civilian aircraft market. We are not ignorant of the significant financial, emotional and reputational investment
  • 6. Florence Nightingale Influence In nursing school, I remembered learning about Florence Nightingale and her impact in nursing. Still to this day, her teachings and work to advance nursing is discussed. The nursing profession has grown and evolved a great deal since the times of Nightingale. However, visionaries such as her and their theories have been the ones making that happen. The first three American training schools for nurses, modeled after Nightingale s famous school at St. Thomas Hospital in London, opened in 1873 (Black, 2014, p. 26). As nursing grew and more work was done to advance nursing as a profession, the developing of professional associations such as ANA and NLNE helped further that goal. As author Black (2014) continues, The precursor to the National League for Nursing, the American Society of Superintendents of Training Schools for Nurses, was formed to address issues in nursing education. The society changed its name in 1912 to the National League of Nursing Education (NLNE) and in 1952 became the National League for Nursing (NLN). This event held during the Chicago World s Fair became a pivotal point in nursing history. • 8. Artemisia Gentileschi Essay Artemisia Gentileschi (1593 1653) Considered one of the most important artists of the Baroque movement in Early Modern Europe, Artemisia Gentileschi, had to prove herself and break down the boundaries for a woman in a male dominated field. Artemisia was born in Rome on July 8, 1953 to Orazio and Prudentia Monotone Gentileschi, who died when the artist was only twelve years of age. Her upbringing was left to her father, who was also a well known painter. He trained her since she was not permitted to learn in the studios of successful artists of the moment. Orazio introduced his daughter to the working artists of Rome including Caravaggio, whose tenebrism technique and chiaroscuro style had a great influence on her paintings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tassi denied all the accusations and brought several witnesses to testify on his behalf, but possibly the most infuriating part of his testimony for Artemisia was when he stated that on the day of the rape he was teaching her the rules of perspective because her skills were pathetic. Nevertheless, Tassi was found guilty but regrettably only served under a year in prison. After the trial was over, Artemisia was married off to a Florentine artist by the name of Pietro Antonio di Vincenzo Stiattesi in order to regain some of her reputation. It is believed that the couple moved to Florence shortly after their marriage, because Rome proved to be a very difficult place for them to live due to the public notoriety Artemisia had received from the trial. During her marriage to Pietro it is believed that the couple parented a daughter by the name of either Prudentia or Palmira. Regrettably, the marriage did not last long, but there is evidence that the couple worked at the Academy of Design in Florence and in 1616 Artemisia received the extraordinary honor of becoming an official member, most likely due to the support of her patron, the Grand Duke Cosimo II member of the notable and influential Medici family, whom had commissioned several of her paintings. Even though Artemisia had to struggle with many difficulties early in her life she was able to draw strength from them and turn them into unique pieces of art. In the words of John Loughery, Exacting craft is one
  • 9. Difference Between Parallel Thinking And Argumentative... Parallel thinking and argumentative thinking are two different types of thinking method. Parallel thinking method is commonly known as six hats thinking, which was invented by Dr. Edward de Bono in 1967(). According to the Oxford English Dictionary (20xx), parallel thinking is a way of solving problems by using your imagination to find new ways of looking at the problem. It indicates that all participants are looking for the common goal at the same time and individual can have constructive discussion with different ideas. Hoods Bringing Light December 12, 2014 Abstract: This experiment was conducted to determine if the light of a glow stick can be affected by the temperature of water. In this the researcher will try to find what temperature of water makes a glow stick glow brighter and how long it will stay lit. By proceeding in the experiment, the data collected proved the hypothesis to be correct. Warmer water caused the glow stick to glow brighter than it had before. On the other hand, the beaker with colder water made the stick stay lit longer and the room temperature water didn t affect the glow stick as much. • 14. The Value Of Property In Voltaire s Candide When people decided to gather, communicate, and cooperate to make their livings around beasts, they also had to decide the ownerships of trophies. That was the time when the idea property was invented. Many wise men in the past, while thinking about a better format for people living together, argued meanings of propertyto people. British philosopher John Lockein his work Second Treatise of Government separates property as public goods shared by all humans and necessities for living created via labor. The value of property has changed over time, when later French philosopher Voltairein his novel Candide, or Optimism expresses that property becomes for what people in a world where Candide lives keep fighting: land, gold, and even ownerships of women. Necessities and public goods becomes luxuries. Voltaire s work shows this trend and it can explained by the worry about the risk of losing current living standard in the future when easily accessible things are no more available to everyone. In fact, Candide also reflects scarcity of property, a nature which Locke never mentioned. Thus Candide is a strong critique to Second Treatise of Government for the nature of property when Voltaire demonstrated scarcity in material and philosophical ways in Candide. The neglect of the scarcity of property caused by working time by Locke is obviously shown when Locke and Voltaire express different ideas about currency. Locke misunderstand the relationship between property and currency,

The wider spectrum is a globalised community that is able to interact and therefore increase the market (if you like) of foreign fighters. Urri defines globalisation as the increased density of international and global interactions, compared with such interactions at the local or national level . The CIAs forecast in 2000 predicted some of the major affects of globalisation that is present today predicting Globalisation s evolution will be rocky, marked by chronic financial volatility a widening economic divide where regions, countries, and groups feeling left behind face deepening economic stagnation, political instability, and cultural alienation. This will foster political, ethnic, ideological, and religious extremism, along with the violence that often accompanies it. As Cronin argues the trend of globalisation is seen as westernisation, secularism, democratisation, consumerism, and the growth of market capitalism, threatens what is perceived as the fundamental elements of certain societies, not to mention the uneven distributions of wealth as a result. The gap between social groups is prime territory for foreign fighters to step into to promote the common feelings and experience of the ill effects of globalisation. The frustrations of globalisation are gathered through global interactions and are able to gain momentum in what Malet describes as transnational communities. As Malet points out citing Tarrow, transnational social movements have grown in the latter half of the twenty first century from one hundred in the 1950s to one thousand in 2003. This confirms that people now see themselves more as a part of a transnational communityrather than a local one. Transnational communities are formed by frustrated individuals and groups who see themselves marginalised due to the macro changes initiated by increased global interactions. Access to global markets and communications have further perpetuated the sustainability of transitional organisations, strengthening these communities. Global interaction have enabled individuals and organisations to

Kafka does support this idea since he starts the story with a crisis; When Gregor Samsa awoke from troubled dreams one morning, he found he had been transformed in his bed into an enormous bug (Kafka 11). The start of the text is a crisis; Gregor has turned from a human into a bug. Mikhail Bakhtin states that this is a start of dehumanization, what was known to be self is now altered (Elimelekh 1). For Gregor, his humanity is questioned since, as a bug, Gregor displays multiple legs, a soft stomach, and a hard shell back (Kafka 11). Kafka s describes how Gregor leaves his bed as such: The fall was deadened somewhat by the carpet, and in addition Gregor s back was more resilient than he thought (Kafka 16). Gregor does not get up on two of his multiple feet and walk to the door. Instead, Gregor has to fall off his bed, since his legs are now multiple bug legs, and Gregor needs more than two legs to walk (Kafka 15). Mikhail excellently summarizes how this affects Gregor: Motifs of dehumanization and metamorphosis are present, namely, the gradual decline of man into beast (Elimelekh 27). Kafka displays Gregor as a man who declines into a bug, Toni Morrison, on the other hand, explores the idea of beast in a different context, such as when Sethe is defined by someone

Technology In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein New technological progress may be the reason for the greatness of modern day society, but it is imperative to know that new technologies are also going to be responsible for the destruction of today s innovative and advanced world. In Mary Shelley s important novel Frankenstein, she displays man s hunger for new technology , and shows how that curiosity can lead to disaster. Shelley s views expressed are still relevant, and society should react accordingly to her warning. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Barry Bonds exploited the monstrosity that performance enhancing drugs can cause, but almost no blame can be placed on the creator of steroids, or the creator of any other performance enhancing drug for that matter. On the other hand, Victor Frankenstein should be held solely responsible for the monster his creation turned into. All performance enhancing drugs were created for medical purposes, with the men who discovered them having no idea that they could be used in such a harmful way. In Dermot McEvoy s piece, Bonds Stirs the Drink, he talks about Nathan Jendrick s views on steroids. While Jendrick recognizes steroids are not a bad drug, he gives off the belief that it is just a drug that has fallen into the wrong hands too many times by stating, It is steroid abuse that has and is destroying American athletics, (McEvoy). This declaration that steroids are a good drug just used improperly by the wrong people proves that the mastery of a new invention cannot solely stop it from becoming monstrous. The center of one of Shelley s main arguments proposes that Frankenstein s failure to master his creation caused it to turn monstrous. While her argument contains truth, Shelley insinuates that the mastery of a new technology can prevent disaster, and that contradicts what has been shown by performance enhancing drugs. That part of Shelley s argument may not apply to the history of performance enhancing drugs, but her claim that technology becomes monstrous once fallen into the wrong hands proves the relevance of her argument towards performance enhancing drugs. The distinct personality traits of Victor Frankenstein are eerily similar to the characteristics of Barry Bonds and other performance enhancers. Shelley describes Frankenstein as an

Hoover continued to work as a mining engineer, although he had a strong desire for public service. Hoover identified himself as a Republican. World War 1 put Herbert Hoover in the forefront of American politics. When the war broke out in London, the U.S consul contacted Hoover and asked him to organize an evacuation of over 100,000 Americans trapped in Europe. Though Gilgamesh and Genesis are completely different stories, they both contain flood narratives that have similarities and differences within each. The three comparable points in these texts deal with the gods and heroes of the stories. First the gods in these narratives all have a specific reason behind their decision to wipe out mankind. Second the unique characteristics of the heroes or survivors of the flood are shown throughout the events of the texts. Finally the gods who bring these floods upon earthall reveal their qualities through their actions against humanity. These three topics relate from one book to another in many ways. Before each of the floods there are reasons that each goddecides to eliminate the people on earth. In Gilgamesh the god Enlil chooses to destroy humanity with a flood because it is the best way to get rid of the individuals who have sinned. After the flood the god Ea says Let him who has performed an evil act be punished for that act. Let not the flood be brought down on the heads of all for what one man has done... (Ferry 74). Analysis Of The Circumplex Model In On Golden Pond The Circumplex Model: Adaptability and Flexibility Throughout On Golden Pond, it is apparent that Chelsea, Norman, and Ethel are rigidly enmeshed. According to Olson s circumplex model, rigidly enmeshed families have authoritarian leadership, strict discipline, roles rarely change, there is too little change. Additionally, enmeshment in families is illustrated by very high closeness, very high loyalty, high dependency, and a lack of individuality (Sanders Bell, 2011). Although Chelsea is distant with her family in the number of visits it is an artificial distance of time and space. They are strongly emotionally entangled as demonstrated through the ability of the family to emotionally affect one and other. Slightly like the characters in On Golden Pond, the family in Stepmom appear to be chaotically enmeshed. The circumplex model claims families who are chaotic present with a lack of leadership, erratic discipline, dramatic role shifts, and too much change (Sanders Bell, 2011). Chaos is present in the structure of the two living environments of the children: one environment is structured and the other one is disorderly. This leads to confusion for the children because the system lacks consistency. Enmeshment is personified through the children s emotional fusion with their mother. When Jackie is upset with Isabel, the children are upset with Isabel. The children and the mother s emotions are intertwined. On the other hand, Rita slightly contrasts the two families above as she appears to be rigidly disengaged instead of enmeshed. Rita and Denny are not intimately close. This is illustrated as Rita responds to a question by saying, loyalty? I [have] you know, I [have] tried to explain it to my husband ... I think he [is] thick (Gilbert, 1983). Rita s family lacks the flexibility to change. People get married and have kids. There is no self exploration, enlightenment, and adaptability is absent. It is a team based, iterative approach to development that emphasizes on rapid delivery and completing all functional components while the client is kept involved as part of the development process (Lotz 2013). The Traditional development method. The traditional development method requires the definition and documentation of a stable set of requirements at the beginning of the project. It was inherited by other projects mainly related to construction which focused on the completion of one phase of production before moving on to the next phase, for example, laying the foundations of a building first and then proceeding with the further stages (Bowes 2014). Similarly, in Waterfall, the requirement gathering and designing work is done upfront before any coding takes place. The basic notion behind the traditional development approaches is that the projects are comparatively less complex, linear and predictable with clearly defined system boundaries which makes it simple to plan and follow without having any room for changes (Spundak 2014). Moreover, traditional development method depicts the requirements document as he key piece of documentation. The gathering of all the requirements, getting a sign off from the customer and then starting with the development of the project gives the project a limit of

  • 34. Perceived Desire Fulfilment Theory Essay In this essay, I will explain and discuss four main theories of happiness, and defend why the perceived desire fulfilment theory is my preferred theory of happiness, based on its usefulness for not only the individual, but also society as a whole, and the fact that it lacks any very glaring faults. Firstly, I will lay out and extrapolate upon the four popular theories of happinessthat this essay will be discussing hedonism , life satisfaction theory, objective list theory, and finally, my preferred choice; perceived desire satisfaction theory. After this, I will explain the faults in the first three theories that prevent me from preferring them, and how perceived desire satisfaction theory circumvents these faults. I will then discuss various objections concerning the perceived desire fulfilment theory, and why I believe that these objections are compared to the objections about the other theories presented not that important. Finally, I will summarise the various ways in which I believe perceived desire fulfilment theory is more useful and more easily applied than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Happiness and efforts to objectively measure and define it is a topic that, to this day, remains hotly debated and theorised. Trying to make objective something that is seen as inherently subjective is difficult, if not impossible, but that fact has yet to deter philosophers putting forward theories for what constitutes happiness, and how to achieve it. One popular happiness theory is that of hedonism. Originally stemming from Bentham s utilitarianism theories, hedonism s argument for happiness is very simple; a happy life is one where the person maximises feelings of pleasure and minimises feelings of pain, similar to how a utilitarian would want to

Should People Be Allowed To Keep Animals In Captivity Animals in Captivity Everyday people go to zoos with intentions of having a good time without realizing they are paying for animals to be held in captivity for the rest of their lives. In recent discussion, the decision to keep animals in captivity is a very controversial topic. Many people are towards the decision that zookeepers should keep the wild animals captive for the entertainment of others, while on the contrary many are against it. However nobody has done anything to get the animals out. The people who are against setting them free believe that the animals are living a much better life than they would outside and that they are better for keeping entertainment for the public but what they do not see is what happens when the zoo is closed and how they are treated outside of the public s eye, which is what the people who are against it tend to see. With zoos existing for hundreds of years people have never noticed how wrong it is to keep animals in cages. Zoos are not a perfect place to keep animals, more animals are abused and hurt inside of zoos. One day a wallaby was suppose to be getting taken care of by its zookeeper but the zookeeper was not paying attention because the wallaby drowned in a bucket of water. In another case a spider monkey had frost bite but was not treated soon enough so zookeepers were forced to euthanize the spider monkey (Jouvenal). More accidents take place inside of zoos than they would if animals were released to the wild. Everyday animals die in captivity due to zookeepers that don t pay attention to the

  • 38. Peggy McIntosh s White Privilege And Male Privilege Essay Privileges are things that a person receives that gives them an advantage over most people (Merriam Webster). These are benefits that only certain people receive for being in a certain group or discourse. Peggy McIntosh, director of the Wellesley College Center for Research on Women, wrote White Privilege and Male Privilege and states I think whites are carefully taught not to recognize white privileges, as males are taught not to recognize male privilege (605). She argues that whites and males receive certain privileges, yet they do not even notice them. This shows that different races and women are still put at a disadvantage, but the people who receive the benefits are blind to the problem. Many people will argue that she is correct... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also shelter it by keeping it a secret from their own so they never see it as an advantage. Shannon Sullivan wrote the book Revealing Whiteness: The Unconscious Habits of Racial Privilege . She does agree with McIntosh that whites do in fact receive these hidden privileges. In her book she wrote Blithely wrapped up in a white world, white people often do not see their own ignorance and cannot be faulted for not addressing it... (18). Sullivan explains that white people do not realize that they are receiving these certain benefits for just being white. They also can t fix this problem until they realize that they are privileged. The privileges that they receive are mainly social benefits, which probably why they are hard to see. McIntosh give an example by saying, I can go shopping alone most of the time, pretty well assured that I will not be followed or harassed (607). This is one of the many over looked privileges that people don t seem to notice. In the book White Teachers/Diverse Classrooms , written by Landsman, Julie, and Lewis, they also support this idea by giving an example of this certain privilege not applying to a person of color, even to the president of Brown University, Ruth Simmons. Simmons was followed and question as she walk the aisles of a major department store (11). Despite the fact that she was president of Brown University, she was stilled harassed at clothing store

College students are the point in their life where they are searching for new and exciting ways to fit in and have fun amongst peers. Although students drink for a variety of reasons (Baer, 2002), peer pressure plays an important role in maintaining these patterns. Peer pressure has three forms: explicit offers of alcohol, role modeling, and social norms (Borsari Carey, 2001). Women may report greater discrepancies between how much they think others are drinking and their own levels of alcohol consumption because they use men as a frame of reference when responding to questions about the typical student s drinking habits (Borsari Carey, 2003; Korcuska Thombs, 2003; Lewis Neighbors, 2004). Alternatively, the gender difference in other self gap scores may reflect a greater susceptibility to peer pressure among males. In their longitudinal analysis of other self discrepancies in perceived comfort with campus drinking practices, Prentice and Miller (1993) found that males were more likely than females to adopt attitudes toward alcohol use that matched what they believed to be normative. Women are also more likely than their male counterparts to state that they would be able to resist situational pressures conducive to drinking in a variety of hypothetical situations (Shore et al., 1983). Presumably this is due to the fact that men experience more pressure from others to drink. Students themselves acknowledge this gender difference. They also believe that women are more inclined to suffer

The advantages of the I D include pain and discomfort relief and faster healing time and its disadvantages an increased risk for cellulitis and the reappearance of the pus in incision site when the incision site is not large enough (Domino, Baldor, Golding, Stephens, 2017). In terms of rapid strep throat testing, the pros include the ability to know the next course of action in a matter of five (5) minutes and ensure that the patient receive appropriate treatment. The cons include the chances of having a false positive or false negative result if not properly collected and if correctly swabbed, the discomfort that the patient feels. Why is Lex Service PLC concerned about its cost of capital in 1993? What role will an estimate of the cost of capital play within Lex? In general, how can and do companies make use of cost of capital estimates? Since there are significant changes in the company for the last 3 years such as descending trend in car and truck market in 1991, sale of one of their core electronics business, terminated Volvo agreement etc.; the company thinks that their financial value (equity and debt ratios and weights) and accordingly cost of capital is changed. Since it is not easy to observe the market premium, long term historical data on equity return is better. c. Is your estimate of Lex s cost of equity appropriate as a discount rate for Lex s total operating cash flows? Why or why not? For future cash flows, evaluation is done with WACC rate which consists from cost of equity and cost of debt in a weighted average. In this case, using cost of equity is not appropriate since we doesn t know cost of debt and weights of equity and debt, it doesn t reflect the actual rate for WACC. 3. If Lex had no debt in its capital structure, what would be its cost of capital? How could this estimate be used to value Lex? If Lex operated with essentially no leverage in its capital structure and then added a moderate amount of debt, how would this affect its total value? How might we capture this value impact of debt in our valuation analysis? If company doesn t have any debt, it means that WACC is equal to cost of equity. There are two ways of increasing capital, (1) using debt and (2) issuing new shares. For profitable companies sometimes it is cheaper to use debt instead of issuing new shares since cost of debt is tax shielded. In this case company didn t have any debt in past which means less default risk, it will affect total value in a positive way. It will decrease the taxes paid and increase net income, accordingly share values. 4.

We have seen a major jump of people with tattoos in the past 20 years (npr.org). But even though so many people have tattoos, many of them don t know the long term effects tattoos can have on your body. I believe there are many reasons why tattoos should be banned in America. First of all, tattoos can negatively affect your career, especially if your tattoo is visible. There are many workplaces where body art is banned in its dress code. Body art isn t allowed in many workplaces because some people feel uncomfortable around other people who have tattoos. Tattoos can also determine which career paths you will take. A survey was conducted by careerbuilder.com, to find out if tattoos had an effect on someone s career. Their studies showed that 31 percent of HR managers said that visible tattoos has a negative impact on whether on not they will hire that person. Tattoos can also have a negative effect on the owner or boss of the company because most of them don t like tattoos. This is because many middle age and older Americans, which is how old many business owners are, associate tattoos with bikers, convicts, and gang members (psychcentral.com). Even if the owner isn t middle aged, many of the customers of the business are over the age of 40. In addition, tattoos are very painful and expensive. Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare is a thrilling play in which two star crossed lovers from rival families spiral through a series of unfortunate events before killing themselves out of love for each other. Fate is the sole cause of the deaths of Romeo and Juliet as Shakespeare s diction gives commanding hints to fate, there was a greater cause for the deaths, and the overwhelming amount of coincidences falsify the idea that freedom of choice was the cause. Capulet, Montague, See what a scourge is laid upon your hate, And I, for winking at your discords too, Have lost a brace of kinsmen. All are punished (5.3.301 305). This explains that the deaths of Romeo and Juliet were a punishment for the feud between the Capulets and Montagues a likely explanation for why fate caused the deaths. Also, fate may have stopped the fighting to avoid any other deaths related to the feud. While this is one of the big causes for fate to have the lovers killed another one is also relevant. When Shakespeare is summarizing the play to the audience he states something significant about the result of the lovers deaths: Doth with their death bury their parents strife. The fearful passage of their death marked love and the continuance of their parents rage, which, but their children s end, naught could remove (Pro.8 11). The greater good is demonstrated in this passage as it explains that the deaths of Romeo and Juliet brought their fighting families together. This bigger cause is the main reason why fate decided to kill the lovers. In conclusion, fate is shown to have caused the deaths because their are two relevant reasons for fate to have done

There is evidence in vertebrates developing brains that Notch activation occurs at the level of adherens junction and it is restricted to the two sister cells after division. Our preliminary observations that sister cells share a stable new adherens junctions interface suggests that Notch Delta interactions may occur at this place. To test whether Notch Delta interact at new adherens junction formed between the two sister cells we will first assess whether Notch receptor is activated in this region. For that we will express Notch receptor 1a and 1b tagged with photoconvertible fluorescent protein Dendra as previously described in drosophila: and mouse: . We will photoconvert Notch Dendra at new adherens junction interface and trace the nuclear translocation of Notch intracellular domain. Accordingly to our initial hypothesis Notch1 Dendra photoconverted at the new adherens junction interface but not elsewhere will translocate to the nucleus. Adherens junction will be labeled by Par3 GFP or CFP and new adherens junction interface will be monitored by live imaging as shown in fig.. To complement these experiments we will determine whether Delta Notch interact at new adherens junctions interface by tagging Notch ligands (zDelta 1, 2 and 3) and receptors with non fluorescent split GFP fragments (GFP exons 1 10 and GFP exon 11) (ref). We predict that once Delta and Notch

According to a survey conducted by Ponemon Institute (2012, p. 2), seventy eight percent of businesses had experienced a security issue due to employees within the past two years. Another huge risk revolves around the fact that DAD s is a small business. Cybercriminals are eager to attack small businesses because they know that these businesses are less likely to have proper protections in place due to budget constraints. Although large businesses like Target are more likely to make the news, a small business is more apt to experience dire consequences of a security breach including significant financial loss and business failure. In formulating a security plan for DAD s, it is necessary to have an understanding of the different types of attacks on computers. Again, employees can be the weak link here since a lack of education may result in their enabling an attack. Most attacks are a result of malware. Malware can be defined as software that enters a computer system without the user s knowledge or consent and then performs an unwanted and usually harmful action (Ciampa, 2014, p. 77). Some examples of malware include: viruses, worms, Trojans, rootkits, backdoors, keyloggers, arbitrary code execution, buffer overflow attacks, botnets, spyware, adware, and scareware. Recommendations
