Negligence, Liability, And Liability
QUESTION PRESENTED Concerns have arisen of a possible lawsuit involving an area of law
known as negligence and liability. This memo outlines the principles of this area of law in order to
be properly prepared should the firm face any legal consequences. It aims to illustrate under what
circumstances can the firm be affected with potential legal action in this area.
SHORT ANSWER
In legal context, Negligence is behaviour that falls below the reasonable standard of care and
liability refers to who can be held accountable for any damages occurred. Legally, the firm can
only be at risk if there is evidence that suggests negligent conduct and all four of the following
elements are met and proven: a duty of care is owed to an individual, the standard of care is not
met, damages have occurred, and the failure to meet the standard of care significantly contributed
to the damages that occurred. Along with negligence, there is a possibility of being deemed liable
and having to pay for damages. However, even if found negligent, there are tools that the firm use
to deflect or lessen liability such as vicarious liability, contributory negligence or voluntary
assumption of risk.
PRINCIPLES/TOOLS
Negligence
Negligence, in its legal definition (common law), is behaviour that falls below the standard of
care. Negligence can only be attributed if all four elements are present: a duty of care is owed, the
standard of care is not met, there is evidence of considerable damages and the

Frustration within the Sikh community in Punjab due to the betrayal and threatening behaviour of
the Indian government gave way to a small scale armed insurgency calling for the implementation
of what the Sikhs had been peacefully agitating for since India s independence.[3] The leader of this
armed movement was a preacher from a Sikh institution called Damdami Taksal, Sant Jarnail Singh
Bhindranwale.[4] In simpler terms, the aforementioned acknowledges the fact that Sikhs in Punjab
were in dispute with the Indian government over a territory that belongs distinctly to Sikhs. What
bothered the Sikhs was the opportunity given to them shortly after independence a land separate
from Hindus and Muslims. Unfortunately, at the time of independence, Sikhs declined the
opportunity to acquire a sovereign territory and accepted to live amongst the people of India. The
Sikhs rejected the offer as they thought they would be given the opportunity to live in unity with
others without being suppressed or misrepresented.
Regrettably, this is exactly what happened. The government, created shortly after independence,
had representation of mass populations, of which mostly were Hindus. Sikhs, who only composed
two percent of India,

Utilitarianism Vs. Utilitarianism Theory
In the history of philosophy Utilitarianism has been viewed as one of the best of the moral theories.
It has become one the most powerful, influential, and most persuasive approach to normative ethics.
The utilitarianism theory also has had a major impacts on approaches to economic, political, and
social policy. The utilitarianismtheory had originally had been created by Jeremy Bentham. His
version of was that aggregate pleasure after deducting suffering of all involved in any action.
However, this was later revised by John Stuart Mill He has revised the concept of utility and has
brought forth the Greatest Happiness Principle .
First off, utilitarianism is the philosophical view about how we should evaluate a things that are
involve choices that people have to make. These things that are evaluated are actions, laws,
policies, character traits, and moral codes. In general, whatever is being evaluated, we are the ones
that have to choose the one that will produce the best overall results. Utilitarianism is also a form of
consequentialism this is because utilitarianism is based on the consequences or results of actions
that are the only standard of right and wrong. Utilitarian s say that we should choose the option that
has maximizes utility, i.e. that action or policy that produces the largest amount of good. Although
it may be similar to Utilitarianism is distinctly different from other forms of consequentialism such
as egoism as it considers all interests equally. On

Salem Witch Trials Essay
The Salem Witch Trials was a very dark period in our history that occurred in the colony of
Salem, Massachusetts. These trials began in February 1692 and ended in May of 1693. There
were over two hundred individuals who were accused of practicing witchcraft. Of those two
hundred accused, nearly twenty innocent souls were lost. This was one of the most severe cases of
mass hysteria in recorded history. There was a great effort exhorted by the Massachusetts General
Court to declare a guilty verdict, that the framers of the United States Constitution went to great
lengths to never let this type of tragedy occur again; commonly known as the eighth amendment.
Remarkably so, some may argue that there were similarities in Salem and the... Show more content

What would be considered mental disorders in today s society, no clear medical diagnosis could be
deduced. Partly due to fear and also not being able to diagnose these fits, members of the
community suspected witchcraft to be the culprit. Little did the community know what was about to
transpire in their town over the next year.
The Salem Witch Trials officially began in February 1692 when the afflicted girls accused Tituba,
Ms. Good and Ms. Osborne of witchcraft. Tituba confessed to witchcraft. Not only did she
confess, she also said there were many others who were working for Satan. This triggered the
beginning and that is when the fears of the Salem colonists were realized.
These girls did not all show symptoms at one time. The first girl to start experiencing symptoms
was Betty Parris. She was followed by Abigail Williams, Ann Putnam Jr., Mary Walcott and Mercy
Lewis (History of Massachusetts). These girls were throwing tantrums, hiding under furniture and
contorting to pain. Since panic and fear set in, witchcraft was the easy choice to make. In today s
medical science, these girls would have been diagnosed with boredom or epilepsy. Although at the
time the cause was unknown, these symptoms were probably brought on from eating rye infected
with fungus. The three victims were not the only ones accused. There were numerous cases of
scapegoating running prevalent.
Since Tituba confessed, there was little legal ground she

Risks And Hazards Of Walmart
Introduction
The safety audit will be performed at a Walmart location in Orangeville, Ontario. It is the biggest
retail store worldwide with $482.1 billion in revenue and has 2.3 million associates. As I have
worked there for the summer holding an instock position in the back room unloading trucks, I have
gained knowledge and understanding on the safety issues and standards that exist within the
company.
Risks and Hazards Identified by Walmart
Walmart identifies many different risks and hazards that an employee may face during work and
believe that employees need to be aware of them. These hazards can be identified in various forms
such as: physical, ergonomic, chemical, psychological, and safety/security
Physical Hazards: can result when performing various activities around the workplace. They can
occur from the equipment that we use, such as the pumps trucks, electric pump trucks or from the
trash compactor. Employees need to be trained on how to properly use the different equipment to
ensure that they have sufficient knowledge on how to operate them safely. The training allows for
individuals to understand what to do when there is a malfunction with the equipment and how they
need to be properly reported and documented, as well as locked away so that others do not use the
broken equipment.
Other physical harms can be from slipping, which can be prevented from non slip safety shoes

Narrative Essay On Emergency Medical Technician
My heart was going to fly out of my chest. To pass my emergency medical technician (EMT)

procedures, but would I miss a step? I knew my terminology, but would I mix them up? Would I

could. Yet, I did not feel prepared. I was going to play a part in what happens to the patient. But I
was ecstatic to test my ability.
My nerves were quickly forgotten as I walked to the emergency entrance with large red letters
spelling EMERGENCY. I expected a large entrance considering that they are working to create a
level one trauma center. As I walked through the single sliding glass door, I recognized two of the

Feminism In The Color Purple By Alice Walker
Recipient of the Pulitzer Prize and National Book award winner, Alice Walker is the author of
The Color Purple. The Color Purple has been labeled as a critically acclaimed novel. This is
because Walker has no filter discussing topics such as: race, sexism, and systematic oppression.
This novel takes place in rural South Georgia and spoken through the eyes of a young African
American girl who becomes a grown womanbetween 1910 to 1940. This detail is important
because for people of color, things were restricted and clearly difficult. It is even worse for
women of color because not only were they the minority but also a woman. Women are expected
to abide by all rules with no hesitations, and submit to all orders from the man of the house. This is
the case in The Color Purple. For example, Celie grows up with the mindset of that she must follow
the rules of her step father and husband s rules. This may lead them to stop their verbal, emotional,
physical, and mental abuse. Unfortunately, it will take greater heights for them to leave Celie alone.
With Feminism comes the development of character. Celie, the main character, grows into a woman
who not only believes in fair treatment amongst all but the idea itself developed through her
growth. Self development is the mental, physical, and emotionelevation over time due to
experiences that develop perspectives.
To continue, the novel takes on the theme of feminism. Feminism is meant to represent the equality
between men and women

Predict Sex Is Better Than Postcranial Measurements
predict sex was better than postcranial measurements. Additionally, sexual dimorphic features show
large variation within and between populations (Keen, 1950; AcsГЎdi, and Nemeskeri, 1970;
Workshop of European Anthropologists, 1980; Ubelaker, 1984; Krogman and Д°Еџcan, 1986).
Some sites on the skull have shown a wide range within sexvariation making them less reliable for
sex determination. For example, a projecting nuchal crest is typically associated with a maleskull
but can also appear on a femaleskull, similarly non projecting nuchal crests, typically associated
with a female skull, can also appear on a male skull (Gulekon and Turgut, 2003; Klepinger,
2006). Yet, this and others, are still some of most commonly used sites for sexing. Keen (1950)
expressed that because morphology is often related to size and robustness, determining sex is
extremely difficult unless extreme features are expressed, such as a very small mastoid process
that projects only a small distance for females and a massive mastoid process that projects a
great distance from the inferior margins of the skull for males. Furthermore Meindl et al. (1985)
and Walker (1995) have discussed that the morphology of sites on the skull of both sexes appear
more masculine as the person ages, which would also hinder the accuracy of determining the sex
of skeletal remains. Buikstra and Ubelaker (1994, p.16) also caution that estimation of sex can be
difficult if the observer is not familiar with the overall pattern

Comparing Antigone To Creon
The play Antigone is about two brothers who kill each other in battle, one is buried one isn t and
laws are placed in order to prevent it from happening. A sister comes in to bury his brother despite
the laws and risk potential death in the process. The person who put these laws into place is called
Creon, who wants the person who buried the body to face justice. The sister who committed this
crime is Antigone, who is also the character that I m contrasting with Creon.
Antigone, while being the sibling to the two brothers, is also related to Creon. You would
assume this would cause Creon to not consider killing his blood and also is actually his son s
bride. Instead, he chooses to be relentless and even tell to her sister, Ismene, Why not? There are
other fields for him to plough. This choice was a big contributor to Creon s becoming of a tragic
hero. It shows to Antigone that he doesn t want her brother buried by any means necessary even if
it means killing his own blood. This also leads to the scene where Haemon, Creon s son, confronts
his about the killing of his bride. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are seen in their first conflict. She tells Creon that she buried her brother anyway for the
simple fact that Zeus did not announce those laws to me. And justice living with the gods below
sent no such laws for man. So she proceed because of that very reason. Creon believes he is
doing the work of the gods for them, so she, in a way, is disobeying the gods. We don t know
where he got this idea from but he s been thinking he was doing the right thing all along. So with
this he eventually confirms that Antigone will die. How this advances the plot is her future
husband will come confront her about it as said in the last paragraph. This however just makes
Creon more angry and more inclined to let her

Significance Of Regulating Employee Relations
The significance of regulating employee relations cannot be underestimated. A cohesive workforce
and harmonious working environment are necessary ingredient for an organization that seeks to
grow its potential. As some of the important resources of a company, employees welfare ought to be
of great concern to the company. Making the employee comfortable within the organization starts
with ensuring good relations among the workers. The possibilities of constant conflicts and
potential disputes at the workplace are enough to make employees resign to move to other
companies. Consequently, the high turnover rate damages the reputation of the company, further
undermining any growth prospects. Regulation of employee relations is a necessary initiative. In
the international spheres, the significance is emphasized by the diversification of cultures of the
employees. In managing employee relations at the international level, certain issues take precedent
over conventional approaches to employee relations. For instance, security would be a priority
concern for workers in a country ravaged by wars or political instability. Similarly, health becomes
an important issue in regions prone to constant epidemics. Failure to address such important issues
may lead to the departure of employees. The unique resource abilities of specific employees and
their potential to drive organizations to success, calls for strategic efforts and initiatives to retain
them. Maintaining foreign expatriates in

How Does North Replace A Contradiction In Neoclassical...
North illuminates a contradiction in neoclassical economic theory as it relates to structure and
change in political economic systems. On one hand, North demonstrates that neoclassical theory
fails to fully explain what causes economic change, and is particularly deficient in explaining the
emergence of various ideologies. On the other hand, he presents evidence that rational individual
behavior explains specific institutional choices that result in change, both positive and negative. He
attempts to resolve this contradiction by offering theories of the state, organizations, and ideology.
However, his argument seems reducible to a statement that political economic institutions change
when the benefits of change outweigh the costs, and persist otherwise. This oversimplification does
an injustice to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His path dependency goes beyond explaining from where the present system emerged by assuming
the components of the current system always existed. For instance, North s discussion of free
ridership and the tragedy of the commons in hunter gather societies ten millennia in the past
illustrates this assumption. He also compares all historical systems against the modern definition of
the market to show why those previous systems failed to function properly. By focusing on the
constraints and inefficiencies imposed by previous political systems, institutions, and ideologies,
North seems to be arguing that if only those did not exist the system would have been efficient in
essence, a liberal economic argument founded upon a capitalist ideology. North s emphasis on
markets and self interest, rather than alternative models (e.g., reciprocity and altruism) suggests a
view of history colored by a specific ideological bent. In this light, North s argument does not
explain the structure and change of economic history so much as show why it took so long to
arrive at the current, preferred,

Essay On Satyam Scandal
RECOMMENDATION
The 2009 Satyam scandal in India has highlighted the shameful potential of an improperly
governed corporate leader. Some recommendations can be made from the mistakes learnt from the
scandal to further avoid such mishaps. First, all inaccuracies are to be investigated as a lot of fraud
schemes initially start out small, with the thought that small changes here and there would not
make a big difference, and is less likely to be detected. The fraud scheme at Satyam started very
small that eventually grew into $276 million. Second, Corporate Governance needs to be Stronger

Satyam was brought to its knee due to tunneling effect unlike Enron, which sank due to agency

Satyam brought to the light the role of CG in influencing the protocols related to the working of

Fauves Attributes In Art
Introduction
The colour attributes could be separated into three parts: hue, saturation and luminance. In the
colour theory, the hue refers to the colour of images, while saturation describes the intensity
(purity) of the hue (Steven, 2013). The saturation is thus identified as the intensity of colours in
artworks which is ranged from pure colour to grey. A single colour is purer as the saturation
increases, while the saturation decreases as the colour goes paler. The aim of this assignment is to
describe and analyse the Fauves paintings, an artistic genre which speaks highly of saturation more
than hue or luminance, as saturation could better express their personalities and feelings.
The Fauvism was founded in 1905 in France by twentieth century modern artists. Unlike the
others, the Fauvism could be absolutely deemed as a unique genre as it does not have special
theory and principle yet is promoted by large numbers of artists in a short period (Freeman, 1990).
This artistic style is in favour of creating a strong effect of paintings through bright and colours by
announcing emotional expressionism. The Fauves absorbs the essence of Oriental and African arts,
then crease a unique simple and sparse prospect on purpose. One of the most famous painting
works named The Creole Dancer (as shown in Fig.1), painted by the greatest artist of the Fauves,
Henri Matisse, is presented below and is to develop a demonstration of how saturation interferes
differently (Roger, 2009).

The History Of The Internet
The history of the Internet starts with the making of electronic computers in the 1950 s. After a
bunch of rabble The first concepts of the Internet were invented in the 1960 s who saw much use
in allowing computers to share information. It was mainly used for scientific and military
purposes, research, development, and sorts. J.C.R. Licklider of MIT first suggested the idea of a
global network of computers in 1962. He moved to the Defense Advanced Research Projects
Agency to develop the Internet. A while later, the Internet was brought online in 1969, but was
previously known as ARPANET. It was done under contract with the renamed Advanced
Research Projects Agency. At first, It connected four major computers, which were located in
different universities. The mystical Internet was designed to provide a communications network
that would still function even if some dominant sites were down. The early Internet was used by
computer experts, engineers, scientists, and librarians. There were no personal computers back
in the day, and everyone who used it had to learn an extremely complex system. Two scores and

Charter Schools Are The Best Schools
Charter schools offer much more than public schools do, like smaller classrooms and extended
one on one time. Charter schools are independent entities that have received a charter, which is a
set of self written rules (and promises) about how the school will be structured and run (Pascual,
2016, The Truth About Charter Schools). This means that they have their own rules that work for
the children and meet their individual needs. The schools could change the rules, as generations
change, to accommodate different students. With the unity and numbers of millennials, charter
schools could be known as the best type of schools for students to succeed in future colleges and
jobs. In my essay I will back up Cahn and Cahns prediction that millennials have what it takes to
make it well known that charter schools are the best schools. Extending on the main claim that
charter schools are the best schools is David and Jack Cahns book, When Millennials Rule: The

A Blind Eye to Our Abused Children in In A Child Called...
She was washing the dishes as if though she was racing against time, when suddenly the front
door slammed shut. The startling sound made her drop a glass onto the floor. In a frantic effort
to clean up the broken glass, she immediately was struck in the back of the head, only to awaken
in a cold damp basement several hours later. When discovered, she had two broken ribs and a
fractured arm. Her eyes were black and blue, swollen shut apparently from crying for hours. Her
body appeared to be extremely malnourished as if though she was using her own urine and

result of death was a beating so hard across the abdomen that the five year olds intestines

Quotes From The Bean Trees
While displaying doubt to her mother about being able to get the job Mr Walter was offering,
her mother expresses her faith in Taylor on page 7 of The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver by
saying, The way I see it, a person isn t nothing more than a scarecrow...the only difference
between one that stands up good and one that blows over is what they are stuck up on. She
knows that Taylor can handle whatever challenges the job presents her with and wants her to
realize that in herself she has the power to do it, now all she has to do is use what she knows to
get the job. Mama says this to her in a knowing way, because while Taylor does not realize
herself she can get the job, Mama knows she can. A few days after Mama tells her this, she uses
her backbone she is up on and tells Mr Walter that since he hasn t made his mind up, she is going

Police Job Fair Essay
Introduction: (option 7)
As students, we sometime get burnt out during mid semester, due dates are forgotten, test are not
studied for and ultimately grade begin to decline. It is not because we are lazy or potentially
trying to fail ourselves, but because we sometime begin to lose interest. Therefore, once in a while
it is nice to refresh our interest with things such as guest speakers or events. On November 15th I
had the opportunity to attend the Gwinnett County Police job fair. Going into the fair I had
different expectations of how it would be and I left feeling very excited about possibly working
for an agency such as Gwinnett. What I expected:
Prior to this year, while it is possible, I have grasped that not all aspiring police officers can work
for a federal agency right out of college. Therefore, instead of making a federal option my plan
(A), I have made it by plan (B), hoping to work local first then transfer to federal if I choose. In
addition, I used to believe the local police only did patrol work. I was not aware that police also
have many other interesting tasks. After attending the Gwinnett County Police job fair, I can...

Baking Soda Vs Baking Powder
Two of the staple ingredients you will find in almost any home baker s pantry are baking powder
and baking soda. This is because they are critical leavening agents that provide volume and
lightness in a recipe. The volume is created by the a leavening agent s ability to produce air
bubbles from the mixing and baking processes. However, don t confuse baking powder with baking
soda because they are not interchangeable. Both have similar properties but not identical ones. In

The European Recovery Program Of The United States Essay
Left as one of the only remaining major powers, not significantly devastated by World War II,
the United States of America lit the beacon of humanitarian aid. At its own discretion, after the
Soviet Union s refusal of America s extent of influence and relief in the European continent, the
U.S. was free to do as it pleased regarding attempts of foreign assistance. Secretary of State in the
U.S. at the time, George Marshall, proposed the Marshall Plan , originally called the European
Recovery Program , in June of 1947, during his speech at Harvard University. Marshall s
argument was to provide 13 billion U.S. dollars, about 5% of the American gross domestic
product during that period, to European nations to bail them out of their continental crisis post
World War II. The plan was in operation for four years, rebuilding war terrorized countries with
several goals put in place by the United States. America would take on the responsibility to rebuild
their economies, rebuild their currency, and foster a free and open trade between European and
U.S. economies. Aid provided by major powers usually involves some level of self interest,
benefiting the donors as well as the needs of those in less fortunate situations. The Marshall Plan
was set in motion with the idea that, if successful, the U.S. would become better off in the long
term, creating new markets for American goods and flourishing the economy back home. Funds

Through his use of propaganda President Wilson was able to draw American Support for the

Before his election, Wilson promoted American neutrality. He endorsed what he believed his
Americans wanted, for this would get him elected into office. However, after his election,
Wilson had a change of heart. A few events, such as the German sinking of the Lusitania and the
Zimmerman telegram swayed President Wilson s stance on the war. He started a movement
toward war. A large variety of pro war propaganda was produced and American troops were sent
to Europe to fight. Through his employment of propaganda, President Wilson was able to: 1.
Convince the American people to join the ranks, 2. Persuade Americans into accepting rations for
food, 3. Involve women in the war effort, and 4. Sway Americans into buying government bonds
(liberty bonds) to fund the war. We will discuss four main propaganda posters, which depict these
four main themes of President Wilson s push for war. In the end, President Wilson s use of
propaganda was ironically able to change the popular American opinion and convince them to
support World War I. Convincing Americans to Join the Ranks: In order to support the war effort,
President Wilson needed to ensure he had an adequate amount of troops available. This involved
enlisting large quantities of men and training them to march, to shoot, and to be in the military.

There is not a specific enterprise faction within the conservative movement, but this exemplifies
how there is not perfect harmony. More accurately, Lichtman is revealing how the conservative
movement, through the joining of the knowledge, influence, and resources from the businesses that
invest themselves in the movement, works with the religious side s passion to form a workable base.
The first faction of the conservative movement we will analyze is the traditionalist faction. Dunn
views the traditionalists as the original leaders of the modern conservative movement. He states
they provided intellectual leadership spanning many years. This faction was horrified about the
projects to expand government, such as the New Deal and the Great Society. Looking to foreign
affairs, they were against the threat of communism (Dunn, vii). James Ceaser includes that
presently traditionalists have become defenders of the culture (Dunn, 23). Ceaser believes they
prefer change that comes naturally rather than change that is created and forced. In this way they
aim to conserve by keeping more of a status quo or what gradually evolves in politics from
situations. This seems to reveal the current situation in which a dramatic change in health care was
forced upon the American people, for disapproval continues to be greater than approval (Rasmussen

Immanuel Kant And The Kant Essay
Immanuel Kant Lying Chiyane Peterson MCCC Ethics MW 1:30pm Parviz Dehghani Lying the
one form of communication that is the untruth expressed to be the truth. Immanuel Kant states
that lying is morally wrong in all possible ways. His hatred for lying has made him just assumed
that anyone who lied would be operating with a maxim like this: tell a lie so as to gain some
benefit. (Landau,pp.171) This is true for a vast number of people, they will lie in order to gain a
certain benefit from the lie rather than the truth. It is similar to if you play a game of truth or
dare, some rather pick a dare because it would release them from having to tell the truth.
However, those who do pick truth still have a chance to lie to cover up the absolute truth.People
lie in order to cover who they truly are. Even if you lie to benefit someone or something else, it
would not matter to Kant because he does not care for the consequences. If you lie but have a
good intention it is not the same for Kant, he would argue that you still lied no matter the
consequence that a lie is a lie. While lying, we accuse others for not being transparent. While
being hypocrites ourselves, we expect others to be sincere. (Dehghani,Ethics) We know how it
feels to be lied to by a person, so in order to not have the feeling returned, we hope the person will
be truthful. We rather be surrounded by truthful people constantly despite all the lies that some

Store and Dispose of Products Safely Take care to store products away from the area where
services are provided. Make sure that tops are on tight. When seals on products have been
compromised, store in containers that prevent product vapors from evaporating into the air. Place
empty product containers in metal trash cans with lids to prevent further off gassing. Dump trash in
an outside receptacle at least once daily to avoid fumes from the small amount of product that may
be left in the containers.
4. Use Ventilated Tables Make sure every technician has a work table with an exhaust fan vented to
the outside. Providing this kind of ventilation will immediately pull particles that result from
sanding and grinding of nails to the outside.
5. Filter the Air Continually Wearing a dust mask is an excellent safety precaution for a technician
when filing artificial nail enhancements. That mask does nothing to protect clients and other people
in the shop. It also does not eliminate vapors and chemicals fumes.
Using a purifier with both a high efficiency particle arresting (or HEPA) air purifier to take out

I will compare these findings to the Myers Briggs Personality Assessment ( Personality test

doomed to a future filled with un intellectual people who know nothing of literature? The answer
is no because there is a solution that has been around for quite a while, but a lot of people don t
take advantage of it. The solution is audiobooks. With the rising use of technology in people s
everyday lives one can see why audiobooks are the next step in a reader s life. As a result,
Audiobooks are a growing industry which has clear benefits that physical books lack.

to one s comprehension of the content in said audiobook. Unlike other forms of entertainment like

Zebra Mussels In The Environment Essay
Zebra mussels have the potential to cause a decline in ecosystem goods, and the benefits that
reservoirs provide. Irrigation reservoirs artificially change the environment. This would cause
larger amounts of distress in the community if the reservoirs did not provide benefits such as
recreation, including fishing, as well as provide wildlife habitat (Adams Lee, 2010). Zebra
mussels can render these reservoirs unusable for recreation because their sharp shells can cut the
feet of users. Zebra mussels also clear the water due to their filter feeders, which can result in a
decrease or change in fishpopulations, as well outcompete native mussel species. This clearing of
the water can also result in algal blooms (Vanderploeg, et al., 2001). It would not be beneficial to

this species is able to reproduce so quickly. If zebra mussels were to become established in

The U.S.A vs Scandinavian Nations
The United States has been widely accepted as a country where anyone can come and make him
or herself into something out of nothing. It is the self proclaimed land of the free and home of
the brave . While all these glorious statements about America were once true, sadly now they are
false. Every year our International upward mobility ranking regresses, meaning it is becoming
harder and harder for Americans to move up the financial ladder. But how is it that a country that
has the largest GDP can be outside the top 10 in upward mobility? Why is it that the most
powerful and wealthy country in the world doesn t have free/universal healthcare? How is it that
while other nations have begun promoting free college tuition we have refused to do so? This is
because the United States does not have a welfare state like the Scandinavian countries do. The
United States isn t a welfare state because Americans have an irrational fear of becoming socialist
. Ever since the Cold War Americans have had a baseless fear of anything that resembles
socialism, claiming it is anti American. Some of the people who live in constant terror of a
socialist America are our right winged conservatives who have went out of their way to make sure
there is minimal government intervention in all aspects of our lives. This should be a good thing,
right? The fact that the government doesn t intervene in the affairs of its individual

Identification And Identification Of Fingerprint Scanners
Our idea
Fingerprint scanners have been used in movies such as action and various other types for years, but
until recent times, they were unheard of technology in the real world. In the past few years,
however, scanners have been introduced into almost the whole society for example in police

Fingerprints are a unique identification of all individuals, even identical twins whose two prints

Introducing finger print scanning instead of credit cards replace using credit cards with finger
print scanners at all ATM machines and banks, this would be much safer because there is no risk
in anyone taking card details and pins therefore reduces the risk of fraud and will save banks a lot
of money from having to pay back to those who have been affected from fraud. Year by year card
fraud and database hacking is increasing. The main reason being the outdated method of using a
card and PIN. Therefore to counteract the information being stolen so easily, this project introduces
the idea of integrating Fingerprint Technology into the Banking system. This can be achieved by
each bank having its own encryption algorithms for fingerprints unique to its customers and
thereafter update ATM machines with attaching fingerprint scanners to them.
Fingerprint scanning has recently been introduced into technology, for example iPhone now have a
fingerprint detector to unlock the iPhone instead of using a pin, and this only gives the owner of
the phone authority to access the information within the phone. Also fingerprint scanning has been
used in fast food chains for example Chicago s fast food restaurant has an ordering system which
uses fingerprints to determine customer s orders. Governments use finger print scanning in many
ways one of which is for passport verification in airports. Research shows that more than half

Motif And Motifs In Macbeth
Sight of Darkness: Analyzing Murder Motifs in Macbeth
Throughout Shakespeare s Macbeth, the motif sight represents a terrible event or murder;
coinciding with the event, while also highlighting Macbeth s lack of accountability for the crimes.
Through the use of the motif sight, it is conveyed that Macbeth decides he must turn a blind eye to
the murder of Duncan. While trying to secure the throne he is prophesied to have, Macbeth
frequently questions whether he should interfere with fate s process. After speaking with Duncan,
Macbeth steps aside and states, The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be /which the eye fears, when
it is done, to see (1.4.59 60). Macbeth s thoughts to kill Duncan are so evil when he does it that
Macbeth doesn t want to look. In addition, the eye is a directly related to the brain, therefore, by
winking, Macbeth tries to avoid acknowledging the evil he may commit. To conclude, Macbeth
cannot stomach the thought of killing Duncan so he must turn a blind eye to it; he will try to
literally not see it, and not acknowledge it cognitively. Another example of Macbeth turning a
blind eye is after the killing of Duncan. Macbeth discusses with Lady Macbeth the remorse and
guilt he feels. He states, I am afraid to think what I have done. / Look at again I dare not (2.2.66
67). Even after killing Duncan in attempt to claim the throne, Macbeth refuses to look at Duncan
and his dead body. This again highlights Macbeth s refusal to condone his deeds as he cannot
bare to look at what he has done. The final sight motif used by Macbeth precedes the murder of
Banquo. Even after Duncan is dead, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth cannot stand idle and wait for
the crown to be delivered to them; they decree to remove any threats posed to their succession.
For this reason, they hire three murderers to kill Banquo. While talking to Lady Macbeth about
their plans, Macbeth responds, Come, seeling night, / scarf up the tender eye of pitiful day / and
with thy bloody and invisible hand (3.2.52 54). Similarly to the first passage, Macbeth is saying
the actions of killing Banquo are so violent that it cannot be visible by the light of day. Related to
both passages, Macbeth does not want anyone to

Korean Politics And Korean Political Leadership
In 1910, Japan became the first non western colonial power by annexing Korea. But unlike the
western empires, Japan wanted to strip away not only Korean resources, but also Korean history
and culture. To justify the invasion, the Japanese claimed that they were liberating the Koreans
from their ethnic and cultural backwardness (Palais 412). As a result, mainstream Korean history
has taught that Koreawas an insignificant player in pre modern Asia which was beset both by
internal and external conflict. The Japanese perpetuated the notions that foreign powers constantly
invaded Korea, that Korean political leadership regularly fought amongst themselves, that the ruling
elite continually oppressed its people, and that Korea was a cultural extension of China. However,
these beliefs about Korean history are largely inaccurate.
In fact, while Korea was a comparatively small country, it had the ability to defend itself from
foreign attacks through direct combat and diplomatic means. Also, Korean political structure and
ideologies enabled prolonged periods of stability despite internal conflict, allowing Korean dynasties
to last longer than Chinese ones. Additionally, even though the ruling elite required taxes, labor,
and military service from its people, sources reveal that they often had the Korean people s interests
in mind. Finally, although China largely influenced Korean culture, Koreans augmented the
borrowed cultural ideas to make them their own.

Just when it looked like Minnesota might snag the NFC North torch from their rivals due east,
Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered a dislocated left knee and torn ACL during a

people and the earth are all made of the same things and therefore we both need the same elements

In cases such as Hatton v Sutherland and Barber v Somerset County Council, employers were
held liable for the psychiatric injuries sustained at work and these injuries were not caused by any
shocking event. This shows that the once rigid shock requirement is no longer followed strictly as
medical evidence proves that a person can suffer from a psychiatric illness even if the event was not

Relationship Between Sex And Power
Introduction
Michel Foucault was a French philosopher, historian, social theorist, philologist and literary critic
whose work had a tremendous impact on several disciplines. He was not a sociologist by training,
but he worked diligently on sociological issues and otherwise had significant influence on the work
of other sociologists. One of his most famous works is the The History of Sexuality, in which he
examines the emergence of sexuality as a discursive object and separate sphere of life. According to
Foucault, the idea that everyone has a sexuality is relatively a recent development in the West. In
Volume 1, Foucault discusses the relationship between sex and power in a historical context. He
states that the ways in which humans think about sexuality is primarily shaped by the repressive
hypothesis, which claims that Western society had suppressed sexuality from the 17th to the mid
20th century, and this was due to the rise of capitalism and the bourgeois society. There are several
key concepts in this book that will be discussed in this paper include repressive hypothesis,
sexuality, power, and discourse. This paper will seek to show the ways in which sexuality is a
discursive object, and how sexuality was linked to power throughout history.
Foucault describes the repressive hypothesis as one that supposes that any increase of energy on
purely pleasurable activities, such as sex, has been frowned upon since the rise of the bourgeoisie.
Due to this, sex

Why Is Mary Tudor Powerful
During Mary Tudor s reign England was in terror because she was ruthless in her power. She was
one of the most powerful and scary women in English history in my opinion. All for one main
reason, She was not afraid of to do what she wanted to do. When she wanted something done it
was done or the person she told to do so would more than likely get their life taken. Mary Tudor
was born on the 18th of February in 1516. In Place of Placentia in Greenwich England. She was
the third child of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. Greenwich is just five miles out of
London. King Henry VIII created the Church of England in 1536 as a result of a dispute with the
pope, who would not permit Henry to get a divorce from his wife and marry his long time
mistress. Henry s marital history started under a cloud of suspicion, as his marriage to Catherine of
Aragon meant he was forming a union with his brother s widow. Whether his series of... Show more

Language used in communication among the speaker with the hearer. Trough language an idea,

Pros And Cons Of The EU
CONSIDERATION EUROPEAN UNION
__________________________________________________________________________
The EU brings both positive and negative sides with it. For example, the Netherlands should keep
the Euro or go back to the guilder. The statement is as follows: should the Netherlands be part of
the EU or should they leave?
__________________________________________________________________________
For the EU the European Union stands for power. If you look at a country from the European
Union, there is probably little or no attention paid to that country, even if there are any problems.
Take for example Greece, they have had a crisis for years. By the partnership of the EU this

As countries such as Greece that can be helped by the power of the EU and the cooperation
between the countries, but on the other hand, would be leaving the EU ensure that can save money
because the Netherlands no longer have to contribute to the enforcement of EU power.
Also is an advantage of the EU that it contributes to peace, by among other things the possibility of
a free trade. But on the other hand, the Dutch economy will grow sharply if the EU would leave,
that according to a British study.
The EU has also caused a discussion between the euro and guilder in Netherlands. Namely by use
of the euro is easier to compare products and prices, the EU has a strong standing Joint currency,
and that is an advantage during a financial crisis. But if the Netherlands Guilder Netherlands would
enter would implement its own policy and adjust this to our own economy without having to worry
to the effects of the rest of Europe. This makes clear that the EU both advantages and disadvantages
for Netherlands.

Homeland Security is one of the most important departments in the United States. The United States
Department of Homeland Security job is to reduce our vulnerability to terrorism and lead a national

One negative component of computers is that hackers often find methods to penetrate the
information barriers. Homeland security agencies are trying to secure the national computer with
programs that target individual computer owners, corporate computer networks, internet service
providers, and communications carriers (Computer Concepts, pg. 51). The main purpose of the
program US CERT is to reduce the vulnerability of computer systems. Hackers usually try to harm
computers by placing viruses or worms in them, but the US CERT program helps reduce the
damage of these viruses and worms. US Cert reduces damage by sending mail to the computer when

Reminiscence By Elizabeth Jenning
Throughout Elizabeth Jenning s poem Reminiscence , she explores the changing nature of love and
its transformation between childhood and adulthood. She indulges in the purity of love that exists
within the simplistic aspects of children s lives as she discusses the loss of naivety during the
ascendence into the complexities of adulthood. Demonstrating the innocence of childhood, Jenning
s displays a sense of freedom associated with their lack of anxiety and nuances. In opposition to
such, adulthood is presented to confine Jennings as she deals with the concept of feeling trapped
which results in her conflicting emotions that lead to a celebratory recollection of childhood ease.

Breaking the enjambement that symbolises the innocence of freedom, Jenning s use of a caesura
after the line did not seek to find something they could not touch, illustrates the cruelty of matured
intimacy. Jenning s exposes her struggle to bear the complicated characteristics of the love she has
grown to become familiar with as she discusses her difficulty to whittle a pattern from the shapeless
stony stuff. Her use of sibilance indicates that she despises the bitter disappointment she
experienced with love as a grown woman. The harsh repetitive sound establishes the fact that
adulthood continuously hurts her which is further reinforced by the noun pattern. A pattern is a
regular use of colour or imagery which reflects the cycle of childhood to adulthood, a sequence of
changing love that Jenning s cannot prevent. A second interpretation to such would be the
evidenced idea that Jenning s battles with the incapability to relate the soft nature of childhood love
to the viciousness of adulthood. The connotations of a pattern are a beautiful childhood drawing
which she cannot create out of the brittle nature of adulthood

The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats
William Butler Yeats is considered to be one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century. As
stated in an online source, he belonged to the protestant, Anglo Irish minority. Yeats was not a set
person, in his earlier life he lived in London. Also, Yeats had a very interesting love life as a poet. It
is very clear that he was an explanatory poet. Ones objective of this paper is to identify and discuss
the significance of William Butler Yeats. However, the minority Yeats belonged to belonged to the
Protestant, Anglo Irish minority that had controlled the economic, political, social, and cultural life
of Ireland since at least the end of the seventeenth century. Most members of this minority
considered themselves English people who merely happened to have been born in Ireland (The
World Book Encyclopedia World Book, Inc.) Although he lived in London for fourteen years of his
childhood, Yeats maintained his cultural roots. He was very confidential with himself as an artist.
This conviction led many to accuse him of elitism, but it also help contributed to his greatness.
Eighteen eighty five was an important year in Yeats early adult life, marking the first publication,
in the Dublin University Review. It was also the year that he met John O Leary, a famous patriot
who had returned to Ireland after totaling twenty years of imprisonment and exile for revolutionary
nationalistic activities. Yeats, who had preferred more romantic settings and themes, soon took O

Biophilia Hypothesis Essay
Biophilia hypothesis is the theory that humans possess a natural tendency to seek connections with
nature and other forms of life (Britannica). Many advantages are hypothesized to be a result of
spending more time in nature such as improved memory, test scores and mood for students. A
study conducted in Barcelona Spain during 2012 2013 on students between the ages of seven to
ten years old yielded results that would accept the green space hypothesis. It was observed that
students had a year increase in working memory and a year reduction in inattentiveness when
surrounded by a green space (CITE). Plants were located at home, in the neighborhood, and in
schooltherefore the students were constantly exposed. The study linked the positive benefit
between exposure to green space and cognitive development amongst school children. Chris
Mooney reflects upon this study in his article Why Green Spaces are good for your kid s brain and

released thousands of barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico (Arnold McKay 16). The accident
affected different states along the coastline including Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama and

The organizational culture of arrogance, noncompliance and risk taking contributed to the
accident. The company did not consider corporate social responsibility important and hence it
did not drill the oil in a sustainable way to protect the stakeholders and the environment. Instead,
the company considered profit making a priority instead of the safety of the stakeholders and the
public (Arnold McKay 20). Whistle blowers were laid off and intimidated if they exposed the
company s unethical activities. As a result, the company undertook many projects and it was
focused on working on the frontiers and managing the risk. Besides, the organization protected
itself from stakeholder who questioned the firm s decision to take the risks. The executive
managers did not entertain opposing views. In addition to that, failure to put in place safety
measures and risk management policies contributed to the accident. The OSHA identified flaws in
the company s regulations after the explosion at the Texas oil refinery, but the firm did not
address the issues. Instead, the organization continued to take risks and cut costs and violated the
United States law in order to reduce the costs of producing oil. De Maria identified different
strategies that the company should implement to address the issue and prevent future crises. De
Maria believed the organization should be victim focused and accept the responsibility for the oil
spill. BP accepted the responsibility for the oil spill

Symbolism And Allegory In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
Nathaniel Hawthorne s short story Young Goodman Brown addresses the Puritan belief that human
existence is premised in a state of depravity in the exclusion of those born in a state of grace.
Hawthorne focuses on the exposure of the hypocrisy that is prevalent in the Puritan culture. He
focuses on diverse literary devices in narrating the story of Young Goodman Browns journey into
self scrutiny which results into the loss of belief and virtue. Further, Hawthorne demonstrates the
essence of symbolism and allegoryin writing.
Hawthorne s story commences by unleashing a young couple that is three months old and prevalent
between Goodman and Faith. Faith is resistant towards letting Goodman go who in return promises
to return after embarking in the said errand which must be undertaken in the night. Hawthorne
demonstrates symbolism and allegory by portraying the pink ribbons that Faith uses to wish
Goodman well. Hawthorne states that, with the pink ribbons, gazing anxiously forth, and bursting
with joy at the sight of her husband (71). The pink ribbons represent Faith s innocence and
sincerity. Further, these pink ribbons represent the prevalent difference between reality and
appearance for young Goodman. This demonstrates the marriage opposites that are prevalent

Goodman talks about her. For example, Goodman asks his counterpart, Is that any reason why I

Goodman s beliefs and perceptions of his Christian faith. Faith also enables Goodman to resist all
the evil people he meets in the woods that are trying to lead him away from her. However, upon his
return, Hawthorne demonstrates Goodman as one who is not comforted by Faith as a result of the
things he saw in the

  • 2. Negligence, Liability, And Liability QUESTION PRESENTED Concerns have arisen of a possible lawsuit involving an area of law known as negligence and liability. This memo outlines the principles of this area of law in order to be properly prepared should the firm face any legal consequences. It aims to illustrate under what circumstances can the firm be affected with potential legal action in this area. SHORT ANSWER In legal context, Negligence is behaviour that falls below the reasonable standard of care and liability refers to who can be held accountable for any damages occurred. Legally, the firm can only be at risk if there is evidence that suggests negligent conduct and all four of the following elements are met and proven: a duty of care is owed to an individual, the standard of care is not met, damages have occurred, and the failure to meet the standard of care significantly contributed to the damages that occurred. Along with negligence, there is a possibility of being deemed liable and having to pay for damages. However, even if found negligent, there are tools that the firm use to deflect or lessen liability such as vicarious liability, contributory negligence or voluntary assumption of risk. PRINCIPLES/TOOLS Negligence Negligence, in its legal definition (common law), is behaviour that falls below the standard of care. Negligence can only be attributed if all four elements are present: a duty of care is owed, the standard of care is not met, there is evidence of considerable damages and the ... • 3. Essay on Indian government under the leadership of Indira... She joined the National Congress party and became active in India s independence movement in 1938. In 1955, she was elected to the executive body of the Congress party, becoming a national political figure in her own right. Four years thereafter, she was president of the party. It was finally in 1966 when Indira Gandhi was given her first opportunity to govern the Republic of India as Prime Minister, following the death of Prime Minister Shastri. Even though she was governing as a reserve, Gandhi had her first campaign victory in the national elections of 1971. For the subsequent years, Indira Gandhi and her administration had successfully governed India. She was in office for fifteen years over two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gandhi s leadership was not the only aspect in jeopardy; her life was at risk as well. Frustration within the Sikh community in Punjab due to the betrayal and threatening behaviour of the Indian government gave way to a small scale armed insurgency calling for the implementation of what the Sikhs had been peacefully agitating for since India s independence.[3] The leader of this armed movement was a preacher from a Sikh institution called Damdami Taksal, Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.[4] In simpler terms, the aforementioned acknowledges the fact that Sikhs in Punjab were in dispute with the Indian government over a territory that belongs distinctly to Sikhs. What bothered the Sikhs was the opportunity given to them shortly after independence a land separate from Hindus and Muslims. Unfortunately, at the time of independence, Sikhs declined the opportunity to acquire a sovereign territory and accepted to live amongst the people of India. The Sikhs rejected the offer as they thought they would be given the opportunity to live in unity with others without being suppressed or misrepresented. Regrettably, this is exactly what happened. The government, created shortly after independence, had representation of mass populations, of which mostly were Hindus. Sikhs, who only composed two percent of India, ... • 4. Utilitarianism Vs. Utilitarianism Theory In the history of philosophy Utilitarianism has been viewed as one of the best of the moral theories. It has become one the most powerful, influential, and most persuasive approach to normative ethics. The utilitarianism theory also has had a major impacts on approaches to economic, political, and social policy. The utilitarianismtheory had originally had been created by Jeremy Bentham. His version of was that aggregate pleasure after deducting suffering of all involved in any action. However, this was later revised by John Stuart Mill He has revised the concept of utility and has brought forth the Greatest Happiness Principle . First off, utilitarianism is the philosophical view about how we should evaluate a things that are involve choices that people have to make. These things that are evaluated are actions, laws, policies, character traits, and moral codes. In general, whatever is being evaluated, we are the ones that have to choose the one that will produce the best overall results. Utilitarianism is also a form of consequentialism this is because utilitarianism is based on the consequences or results of actions that are the only standard of right and wrong. Utilitarian s say that we should choose the option that has maximizes utility, i.e. that action or policy that produces the largest amount of good. • 5. Salem Witch Trials Essay The Salem Witch Trials was a very dark period in our history that occurred in the colony of Salem, Massachusetts. These trials began in February 1692 and ended in May of 1693. There were over two hundred individuals who were accused of practicing witchcraft. Of those two hundred accused, nearly twenty innocent souls were lost. This was one of the most severe cases of mass hysteria in recorded history. There was a great effort exhorted by the Massachusetts General Court to declare a guilty verdict, that the framers of the United States Constitution went to great lengths to never let this type of tragedy occur again; commonly known as the eighth amendment. Remarkably so, some may argue that there were similarities in Salem and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What would be considered mental disorders in today s society, no clear medical diagnosis could be deduced. Partly due to fear and also not being able to diagnose these fits, members of the community suspected witchcraft to be the culprit. Little did the community know what was about to transpire in their town over the next year. The Salem Witch Trials officially began in February 1692 when the afflicted girls accused Tituba, Ms. Good and Ms. Osborne of witchcraft. Tituba confessed to witchcraft. Not only did she confess, she also said there were many others who were working for Satan. This triggered the beginning and that is when the fears of the Salem colonists were realized. These girls did not all show symptoms at one time. The first girl to start experiencing symptoms was Betty Parris. She was followed by Abigail Williams, Ann Putnam Jr., Mary Walcott and Mercy Lewis (History of Massachusetts). These girls were throwing tantrums, hiding under furniture and contorting to pain. Since panic and fear set in, witchcraft was the easy choice to make. In today s medical science, these girls would have been diagnosed with boredom or epilepsy. Although at the time the cause was unknown, these symptoms were probably brought on from eating rye infected with fungus. The three victims were not the only ones accused. There were numerous cases of scapegoating running prevalent. Since Tituba confessed, there was little legal ground she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Risks And Hazards Of Walmart Introduction The safety audit will be performed at a Walmart location in Orangeville, Ontario. It is the biggest retail store worldwide with $482.1 billion in revenue and has 2.3 million associates. As I have worked there for the summer holding an instock position in the back room unloading trucks, I have gained knowledge and understanding on the safety issues and standards that exist within the company. Risks and Hazards Identified by Walmart Walmart identifies many different risks and hazards that an employee may face during work and believe that employees need to be aware of them. These hazards can be identified in various forms such as: physical, ergonomic, chemical, psychological, and safety/security Physical Hazards: can result when performing various activities around the workplace. They can occur from the equipment that we use, such as the pumps trucks, electric pump trucks or from the trash compactor. Employees need to be trained on how to properly use the different equipment to ensure that they have sufficient knowledge on how to operate them safely. The training allows for individuals to understand what to do when there is a malfunction with the equipment and how they need to be properly reported and documented, as well as locked away so that others do not use the broken equipment. Other physical harms can be from slipping, which can be prevented from non slip safety shoes that Walmart can sell to you for 50% off. Falling from various heights can also be a ... To pass my emergency medical technician (EMT) program, I need to complete two clinical s while filling out patient care reports. I knew my procedures, but would I miss a step? I knew my terminology, but would I mix them up? Would I just be in everyone s way? I studied nonstop, aced my test, and ran through every skills lab I could. Yet, I did not feel prepared. I was going to play a part in what happens to the patient. But I was ecstatic to test my ability. My nerves were quickly forgotten as I walked to the emergency entrance with large red letters spelling EMERGENCY. • 8. Feminism In The Color Purple By Alice Walker Recipient of the Pulitzer Prize and National Book award winner, Alice Walker is the author of The Color Purple. The Color Purple has been labeled as a critically acclaimed novel. This is because Walker has no filter discussing topics such as: race, sexism, and systematic oppression. This novel takes place in rural South Georgia and spoken through the eyes of a young African American girl who becomes a grown womanbetween 1910 to 1940. This detail is important because for people of color, things were restricted and clearly difficult. It is even worse for women of color because not only were they the minority but also a woman. Women are expected to abide by all rules with no hesitations, and submit to all orders from the man of the house. This is the case in The Color Purple. For example, Celie grows up with the mindset of that she must follow the rules of her step father and husband s rules. This may lead them to stop their verbal, emotional, physical, and mental abuse. Unfortunately, it will take greater heights for them to leave Celie alone. With Feminism comes the development of character. Celie, the main character, grows into a woman who not only believes in fair treatment amongst all but the idea itself developed through her growth. Self development is the mental, physical, and emotionelevation over time due to experiences that develop perspectives. To continue, the novel takes on the theme of feminism. Feminism is meant to represent the equality between men and women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Predict Sex Is Better Than Postcranial Measurements predict sex was better than postcranial measurements. Additionally, sexual dimorphic features show large variation within and between populations (Keen, 1950; AcsГЎdi, and Nemeskeri, 1970; Workshop of European Anthropologists, 1980; Ubelaker, 1984; Krogman and Д°Еџcan, 1986). Some sites on the skull have shown a wide range within sexvariation making them less reliable for sex determination. For example, a projecting nuchal crest is typically associated with a maleskull but can also appear on a femaleskull, similarly non projecting nuchal crests, typically associated with a female skull, can also appear on a male skull (Gulekon and Turgut, 2003; Klepinger, 2006). Yet, this and others, are still some of most commonly used sites for sexing. Keen (1950) expressed that because morphology is often related to size and robustness, determining sex is extremely difficult unless extreme features are expressed, such as a very small mastoid process that projects only a small distance for females and a massive mastoid process that projects a great distance from the inferior margins of the skull for males. Furthermore Meindl et al. (1985) and Walker (1995) have discussed that the morphology of sites on the skull of both sexes appear more masculine as the person ages, which would also hinder the accuracy of determining the sex of skeletal remains. Buikstra and Ubelaker (1994, p.16) also caution that estimation of sex can be difficult if the observer is not familiar with the overall pattern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A sister comes in to bury his brother despite the laws and risk potential death in the process. The person who put these laws into place is called Creon, who wants the person who buried the body to face justice. The sister who committed this crime is Antigone, who is also the character that I m contrasting with Creon. Antigone, while being the sibling to the two brothers, is also related to Creon. You would assume this would cause Creon to not consider killing his blood and also is actually his son s bride. Instead, he chooses to be relentless and even tell to her sister, Ismene, Why not? There are other fields for him to plough. This choice was a big contributor to Creon s becoming of a tragic hero. • 12. Significance Of Regulating Employee Relations The significance of regulating employee relations cannot be underestimated. A cohesive workforce and harmonious working environment are necessary ingredient for an organization that seeks to grow its potential. As some of the important resources of a company, employees welfare ought to be of great concern to the company. Making the employee comfortable within the organization starts with ensuring good relations among the workers. The possibilities of constant conflicts and potential disputes at the workplace are enough to make employees resign to move to other companies. Consequently, the high turnover rate damages the reputation of the company, further undermining any growth prospects. Regulation of employee relations is a necessary initiative. In the international spheres, the significance is emphasized by the diversification of cultures of the employees. In managing employee relations at the international level, certain issues take precedent over conventional approaches to employee relations. For instance, security would be a priority concern for workers in a country ravaged by wars or political instability. Similarly, health becomes an important issue in regions prone to constant epidemics. Failure to address such important issues may lead to the departure of employees. The unique resource abilities of specific employees and their potential to drive organizations to success, calls for strategic efforts and initiatives to retain them. • 13. How Does North Replace A Contradiction In Neoclassical... North illuminates a contradiction in neoclassical economic theory as it relates to structure and change in political economic systems. On one hand, North demonstrates that neoclassical theory fails to fully explain what causes economic change, and is particularly deficient in explaining the emergence of various ideologies. On the other hand, he presents evidence that rational individual behavior explains specific institutional choices that result in change, both positive and negative. He attempts to resolve this contradiction by offering theories of the state, organizations, and ideology. However, his argument seems reducible to a statement that political economic institutions change when the benefits of change outweigh the costs, and persist otherwise. His path dependency goes beyond explaining from where the present system emerged by assuming the components of the current system always existed. For instance, North s discussion of free ridership and the tragedy of the commons in hunter gather societies ten millennia in the past illustrates this assumption. He also compares all historical systems against the modern definition of the market to show why those previous systems failed to function properly. By focusing on the constraints and inefficiencies imposed by previous political systems, institutions, and ideologies, North seems to be arguing that if only those did not exist the system would have been efficient in essence, a liberal economic argument founded upon a capitalist ideology. North s emphasis on markets and self interest, rather than alternative models (e.g., reciprocity and altruism) suggests a view of history colored by a specific ideological bent. Some recommendations can be made from the mistakes learnt from the scandal to further avoid such mishaps. First, all inaccuracies are to be investigated as a lot of fraud schemes initially start out small, with the thought that small changes here and there would not make a big difference, and is less likely to be detected. The fraud scheme at Satyam started very small that eventually grew into $276 million. • 17. Fauves Attributes In Art Introduction The colour attributes could be separated into three parts: hue, saturation and luminance. In the colour theory, the hue refers to the colour of images, while saturation describes the intensity (purity) of the hue (Steven, 2013). The saturation is thus identified as the intensity of colours in artworks which is ranged from pure colour to grey. A single colour is purer as the saturation increases, while the saturation decreases as the colour goes paler. The aim of this assignment is to describe and analyse the Fauves paintings, an artistic genre which speaks highly of saturation more than hue or luminance, as saturation could better express their personalities and feelings. The Fauvism was founded in 1905 in France by twentieth century modern artists. Unlike the others, the Fauvism could be absolutely deemed as a unique genre as it does not have special theory and principle yet is promoted by large numbers of artists in a short period (Freeman, 1990). This artistic style is in favour of creating a strong effect of paintings through bright and colours by announcing emotional expressionism. The Fauves absorbs the essence of Oriental and African arts, then crease a unique simple and sparse prospect on purpose. One of the most famous painting works named The Creole Dancer (as shown in Fig.1), painted by the greatest artist of the Fauves, Henri Matisse, is presented below and is to develop a demonstration of how saturation interferes differently (Roger, 2009). ... The startling sound made her drop a glass onto the floor. In a frantic effort to clean up the broken glass, she immediately was struck in the back of the head, only to awaken in a cold damp basement several hours later. When discovered, she had two broken ribs and a fractured arm. Her eyes were black and blue, swollen shut apparently from crying for hours. Her body appeared to be extremely malnourished as if though she was using her own urine and defecation as means of nutrition. Once the coroner completed the autopsy, he concluded that the result of death was a beating so hard across the abdomen that the five year olds intestines ruptured, which led to an internal bleeding. The European Recovery Program Of The United States Essay Left as one of the only remaining major powers, not significantly devastated by World War II, the United States of America lit the beacon of humanitarian aid. At its own discretion, after the Soviet Union s refusal of America s extent of influence and relief in the European continent, the U.S. was free to do as it pleased regarding attempts of foreign assistance. Secretary of State in the U.S. at the time, George Marshall, proposed the Marshall Plan , originally called the European Recovery Program , in June of 1947, during his speech at Harvard University. Marshall s argument was to provide 13 billion U.S. dollars, about 5% of the American gross domestic product during that period, to European nations to bail them out of their continental crisis post World War II. The plan was in operation for four years, rebuilding war terrorized countries with several goals put in place by the United States. America would take on the responsibility to rebuild their economies, rebuild their currency, and foster a free and open trade between European and U.S. economies. Aid provided by major powers usually involves some level of self interest, benefiting the donors as well as the needs of those in less fortunate situations. He started a movement toward war. A large variety of pro war propaganda was produced and American troops were sent to Europe to fight. Immanuel Kant states that lying is morally wrong in all possible ways. His hatred for lying has made him just assumed that anyone who lied would be operating with a maxim like this: tell a lie so as to gain some benefit. (Landau,pp.171) This is true for a vast number of people, they will lie in order to gain a certain benefit from the lie rather than the truth. It is similar to if you play a game of truth or dare, some rather pick a dare because it would release them from having to tell the truth. However, those who do pick truth still have a chance to lie to cover up the absolute truth.People lie in order to cover who they truly are. Even if you lie to benefit someone or something else, it would not matter to Kant because he does not care for the consequences. If you lie but have a good intention it is not the same for Kant, he would argue that you still lied no matter the consequence that a lie is a lie. While lying, we accuse others for not being transparent. While being hypocrites ourselves, we expect others to be sincere. As a result, Audiobooks are a growing industry which has clear benefits that physical books lack. The most important factors when considering if one should read using audio books are the benefits to one s comprehension of the content in said audiobook. • 33. Zebra Mussels In The Environment Essay Zebra mussels have the potential to cause a decline in ecosystem goods, and the benefits that reservoirs provide. Irrigation reservoirs artificially change the environment. This would cause larger amounts of distress in the community if the reservoirs did not provide benefits such as recreation, including fishing, as well as provide wildlife habitat (Adams Lee, 2010). Zebra mussels can render these reservoirs unusable for recreation because their sharp shells can cut the feet of users. Zebra mussels also clear the water due to their filter feeders, which can result in a decrease or change in fishpopulations, as well outcompete native mussel species. This clearing of the water can also result in algal blooms (Vanderploeg, et al., 2001). It would not be beneficial to irrigate land with water that has algal blooms because toxic bacteria may cause the algal blooms. This would be particularly detrimental when growing... The Alberta irrigation system contains over 8000 km of conveyance works, including pipelines and canals, and more than fifty storage reservoirs, all of which could become infected should zebra mussels enter the province ( Irrigation in Alberta, 2015). The danger to agriculture and irrigation is very significant because this species is able to reproduce so quickly. If zebra mussels were to become established in Alberta, the monetary and time cost would be very high to manage the problem for the province, Irrigation Districts, as well as the farmers. Many of Southern Alberta s popular boating lakes serve as irrigation reservoirs ( Protecting Alberta s Irrigation, 2014). Scandinavian Nations Brandon Colon Political Science 12/2/14 The U.S.A vs Scandinavian Nations The United States has been widely accepted as a country where anyone can come and make him or herself into something out of nothing. It is the self proclaimed land of the free and home of the brave . While all these glorious statements about America were once true, sadly now they are false. Every year our International upward mobility ranking regresses, meaning it is becoming harder and harder for Americans to move up the financial ladder. But how is it that a country that has the largest GDP can be outside the top 10 in upward mobility? Why is it that the most powerful and wealthy country in the world doesn t have free/universal healthcare? How is it that while other nations have begun promoting free college tuition we have refused to do so? This is because the United States does not have a welfare state like the Scandinavian countries do. The United States isn t a welfare state because Americans have an irrational fear of becoming socialist . Ever since the Cold War Americans have had a baseless fear of anything that resembles socialism, claiming it is anti American. Some of the people who live in constant terror of a socialist America are our right winged conservatives who have went out of their way to make sure there is minimal government intervention in all aspects of our lives. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Introducing finger print scanning instead of credit cards replace using credit cards with finger print scanners at all ATM machines and banks, this would be much safer because there is no risk in anyone taking card details and pins therefore reduces the risk of fraud and will save banks a lot of money from having to pay back to those who have been affected from fraud. Year by year card fraud and database hacking is increasing. The main reason being the outdated method of using a card and PIN. Therefore to counteract the information being stolen so easily, this project introduces the idea of integrating Fingerprint Technology into the Banking system. This can be achieved by each bank having its own encryption algorithms for fingerprints unique to its customers and thereafter update ATM machines with attaching fingerprint scanners to them. Fingerprint scanning has recently been introduced into technology, for example iPhone now have a fingerprint detector to unlock the iPhone instead of using a pin, and this only gives the owner of the phone authority to access the information within the phone. • 36. Motif And Motifs In Macbeth Sight of Darkness: Analyzing Murder Motifs in Macbeth Throughout Shakespeare s Macbeth, the motif sight represents a terrible event or murder; coinciding with the event, while also highlighting Macbeth s lack of accountability for the crimes. Through the use of the motif sight, it is conveyed that Macbeth decides he must turn a blind eye to the murder of Duncan. While trying to secure the throne he is prophesied to have, Macbeth frequently questions whether he should interfere with fate s process. After speaking with Duncan, Macbeth steps aside and states, The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be /which the eye fears, when it is done, to see (1.4.59 60). Macbeth s thoughts to kill Duncan are so evil when he does it that Macbeth doesn t want to look. In addition, the eye is a directly related to the brain, therefore, by winking, Macbeth tries to avoid acknowledging the evil he may commit. To conclude, Macbeth cannot stomach the thought of killing Duncan so he must turn a blind eye to it; he will try to literally not see it, and not acknowledge it cognitively. Another example of Macbeth turning a blind eye is after the killing of Duncan. Macbeth discusses with Lady Macbeth the remorse and guilt he feels. He states, I am afraid to think what I have done. / Look at again I dare not (2.2.66 67). Even after killing Duncan in attempt to claim the throne, Macbeth refuses to look at Duncan and his dead body. This again highlights Macbeth s refusal to condone his deeds as he cannot bare to look at what he has done. The final sight motif used by Macbeth precedes the murder of Banquo. Even after Duncan is dead, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth cannot stand idle and wait for the crown to be delivered to them; they decree to remove any threats posed to their succession. For this reason, they hire three murderers to kill Banquo. While talking to Lady Macbeth about their plans, Macbeth responds, Come, seeling night, / scarf up the tender eye of pitiful day / and with thy bloody and invisible hand (3.2.52 54). Similarly to the first passage, Macbeth is saying the actions of killing Banquo are so violent that it cannot be visible by the light of day. But unlike the western empires, Japan wanted to strip away not only Korean resources, but also Korean history and culture. To justify the invasion, the Japanese claimed that they were liberating the Koreans from their ethnic and cultural backwardness (Palais 412). As a result, mainstream Korean history has taught that Koreawas an insignificant player in pre modern Asia which was beset both by internal and external conflict. The Japanese perpetuated the notions that foreign powers constantly invaded Korea, that Korean political leadership regularly fought amongst themselves, that the ruling elite continually oppressed its people, and that Korea was a cultural extension of China. However, these beliefs about Korean history are largely inaccurate. In fact, while Korea was a comparatively small country, it had the ability to defend itself from foreign attacks through direct combat and diplomatic means. Also, Korean political structure and ideologies enabled prolonged periods of stability despite internal conflict, allowing Korean dynasties to last longer than Chinese ones. Additionally, even though the ruling elite required taxes, labor, and military service from its people, sources reveal that they often had the Korean people s interests in mind. For humans to lead rich lives, Suzuki also adds love and spirit to the list. In the introduction to The Sacred Balance, Suzuki interviews a Haida Gwaii artist named Guujaaw about the battle over clear cut logging in his native Queen Charlotte Islands. Relationship Between Sex And Power Introduction Michel Foucault was a French philosopher, historian, social theorist, philologist and literary critic whose work had a tremendous impact on several disciplines. He was not a sociologist by training, but he worked diligently on sociological issues and otherwise had significant influence on the work of other sociologists. One of his most famous works is the The History of Sexuality, in which he examines the emergence of sexuality as a discursive object and separate sphere of life. According to Foucault, the idea that everyone has a sexuality is relatively a recent development in the West. In Volume 1, Foucault discusses the relationship between sex and power in a historical context. He states that the ways in which humans think about sexuality is primarily shaped by the repressive hypothesis, which claims that Western society had suppressed sexuality from the 17th to the mid 20th century, and this was due to the rise of capitalism and the bourgeois society. There are several key concepts in this book that will be discussed in this paper include repressive hypothesis, sexuality, power, and discourse. This paper will seek to show the ways in which sexuality is a discursive object, and how sexuality was linked to power throughout history. Foucault describes the repressive hypothesis as one that supposes that any increase of energy on purely pleasurable activities, such as sex, has been frowned upon since the rise of the bourgeoisie.
