Tajikistan
Republic of Tajikistan
Tajikistan (officially the Republic of Tajikistan) is a mountainous landlocked country in Central Asia.
Afghanistan borders it to the south, Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north, and People s
Republic of China to the east. Tajikistan also lies adjacent to Pakistan s Chitral and the Gilgit Baltistan
region, separated by the narrow Wakhan Corridor.
Most of Tajikistan s population belongs to the Persian speaking Tajik ethnic group, who share
language, culture and history with Afghanistan and Iran. Once part of the Samanid Empire, Tajikistan
became a constituent republic of the Soviet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, in the pre Buddhist times (7th 6th century BCE), the parts of modern Tajikistan including
territories as far as Zeravshan valley in Sogdiana formed parts of ancient Kamboja and the Parama
Kamboja kingdoms when it was ruled by the Kambojas till it became part of Persian Achaemenid
Empire. After the Persian
Empire was defeated by Alexander the Great, the region became the northern part of Hellenistic Greco
Bactrian Kingdom. From the last quarter of 4th century BCE until the first quarter of the 2nd century
BCE, it was part of the Bactrian Empire, from whom it was passed on to Scythian Tukharas and hence
became part of Tukharistan. Contact with the Chinese Han Dynasty was made in the 2nd century
BCE, when envoys were sent to the area of Bactria to explore regions west of China.
Arabs brought Islam in the 7th century CE[citation needed], more or less forcing the people to
convert. The Samanid Empire supplanted the Arabs and enlarged the cities of Samarkand and
Bukhara, which became the cultural centers of Tajiks (both of which are now in Uzbekistan). The
Mongols would later take partial control of Central Asia, and later the land that today comprises
Tajikistan became a part of the Emirate of Bukhara. A small community of Jews, displaced from the
Middle East after the Babylonian captivity, migrated to the region and settled there after 600 BCE,

A Review Of Mars Venus And Vulcan By John Singleton Copley
This piece is called, Mars Venus and Vulcan: The Forge of Vulcan, it is an oil canvas done by John
Singleton Copley, done in 1754. The era that this piece most represents is the Eighteenth and early
nineteenth centuries of art in Europe and North America. This is because of the brief use of nudity and
the use of children that are shown as little angels. The artist also used a sense of time and motion. It is
as if the figures in the piece are moving themselves. The use of 3 D and kinetics allows this sense of
movement in this piece. Also the artist used repetition and rhythm. The viewer s eye is constantly
moving because of this sense of repetition and rhythm
My personal thoughts to this piece of art is in all honestly a sense of confusion. Overall I like ... Show

The era this piece most represents is the Renaissance art in the fifteenth century Italy. It goes best with
this era because of its use of nudity and shape and lighting. Its use of space of sharp edges and
sculpture figures. Also the use of lighting shows an almost 3 D like image. Even though this is a print
it almost seems like a picture of statues. The artist also used a sense of scale and proportion in this
piece. Every statue is differently scaled from the others. The body parts on each statue did not quite fit
with the other body parts. Every statue is different in size, stance, and color. Also the background
behind each figure is different from the other ones, in its use of color and detail.
I am very fond of this work of art. The way every part of it is different and that there is no pattern and
nothing is the same really intrudes me. The detail on each figure is incredibly real. The fact that
someone did this in today s world is also extremely interesting. By looking at this piece at first I
thought for sure it was from the far past, when I found out it was not and that it was a newer piece I

Death Is A Bit Taboo
The idea of death is a bit taboo, however it is the unspoken reality of life. Naturally, there comes a
time when you will no longer be a part of the ever evolving world physically and it will be your time
to die. The question that has arisen is whether or not an individual s unbearable pain should constitute
them to request death. A person should not have to be hooked up to machines in order to be kept alive,
if that is not what they want; they should be able to choose death.
Perhaps when Patrick Henry stated, Give me liberty or give me death he was not referring to assisted
suicide but the principles still remain the same. Our society was built on the principles of life, liberty
and the pursuit of happiness; lying in a bed while incapacitated is not living, freedom or happiness.
The idea of assisted suicide is to permanently end the suffering of an individual after every other
opinion has been exhausted and it allows the patient to take control of their lives. When an individual
becomes terminally ill many options regarding their health is placed in the doctor s hands and the
individual s family s hands, leaving the sick patient without control over their body and over their life.
When the patient loses control regarding their healthcare and their health continues to decline without
improvement, the thought of suicide rises because the individual wants to simply escape their pain and
suffering. However, due to the fact that in many states assisted suicide is illegal,

The Upper Of The Body Is Defined As Beginning At The Cervical
Backround The upper quarter of the human body is defined as beginning at the cervical region,
continuing to the shoulder girdle, elbow, wrist, and digits (Hand Therapy Certification Commission,
2002). The upper extremity is used for physical interaction with the world that surrounds an
individual, allowing function, production, expression, and independence in daily activities as one
moves through the life span (Mayo Clinic, 2014; Meyer, 2003). The frequent use of the upper quarter
increases risk for traumatic injury, but also strain to the area, as is indicated by more than half of
individuals over the age of 55 showing radiographical evidence of osteoarthritis in at least one hand
(Dahaghin, Bierma Zeinsta, Reijman, Pols, Hazes, Koes, 2005). Despite the commonality of referrals
to hand therapists to facilitate recovery of upper quarter injuries or conditions, the literature outlines
that objective, functional, and in some cases psychological deficits remain for many patients past the
point of discharge. When assessing recovery from a spectrum of conditions and injuries literature
suggests objective measures, such as grip strength and/or range of motion, within in large percentages
of patients, are significantly decreased compared to the unaffected limb or standardized norms at both
discharge and follow up visits (Poole, Santhanam, Latham, 2012; Macdermid, Richards, Roth, 2001;
Wilcke, Abbaszadegan, Adolphson, 2007). It has also been surmised that deficits in

Persuasive Essay On The Intolerable Acts
We are tired of having our voices silenced and being punished for our harmless actions. We acted in
defiance and in turn we had soldiers placed in our homes, taxes imposed and the removal of our
charter. We should be able to speak freely without persecution. As shown by the Intolerable Acts, we
cannot show our dissatisfaction and speak our minds using action without limitations imposed by the
Motherland. Why continue to be punished and limited when we do not even have representation in the
government that leads us? We need to show the motherland that their restrictions are an overreaction
to our harmless acts and revolt against our cruel leaders. We had soldiers placed in our homes as part
of the Intolerance Acts. We were punished for dumping tea into Boston Harbor. An act for punishing
mutiny and desertion, and for the better payment of the army and their quarters... forces us to house
and provide resources for soldiers. That mutiny being us throwing tea into the harbor in rebellion for
the cruel monopolization and taxation of all tea we purchase. The so called Quartering Act placing
soldiers in our homes was decided upon none other than ...the present session of parliament... that we
are not represented in.
Placing soldiers in our homes is worse enough, but furnishing them with fire, candles, vinegar, and
salt, bedding, utensils for dressing their victuals, and small beer or cyder... is, even more, a burden to
our hard earned money. And what happens if we revolt against

Theme Of An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge
The story of An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge expresses a dark theme with attention to death,
mental deterioration, time distortion, and forces beyond nature. These themes are commonly
demonstrated by the author, Ambrose Bierce, a civil war veteran. Bierce also tends to incorporate his
own experiences during the war into his works as a writer. As he fought in the battle of Shiloh, he
came across a waterway known as Owl Creek. Consequently, he was captured in Northern Alabama
by Confederate soldiers but escaped successfully. The events that took place during this part of the
civil war greatly influenced and therefore laid the foundation for the author to write the story of Owl
Creek Bridge. Peyton Farquhar, the protagonist in the story, was faced with many obstacles throughout
the plot s development. Although Farquhar was threatened to be hung by Confederate soldiers, he
never failed to imagine the best scenario to improve his imminent situation. The only difference
between stepping stones and stumbling blocks is how you use them . In Owl Creek Bridge, Peyton
Farquhar dealt with many obstacles thrown in his path and used them to make the best out of his dire
circumstances. Farquhar owned a large plantation in Alabama, and was a very successful planter for
his high class, imperious, southern family. Being a slave owner, he was politically submerged in the
Southern cause. However, he was unable to fight for the south in the war, and he desperately wanted

Analysis Of Maus And The Sandman By Neil Gainman
When defining great literature, graphic novels are often the last source scholars and educators
consider. In general, graphic novels are seen as low brow, mass culture entertainment or as
pedagogical tools (Long 6). In recent years graphic novels have proven to be worthy of being
considered great literature and valuable tools in the classroom. Comic books should not be viewed
simply as aesthetic objects, but rather as texts which function when read by their audience within a
specific context. Our education curriculums are heavily relied on reading comprehension, which has
proven to be a struggle for visual learners. Graphic novels offer value, variety, and new medium for
literacy that acknowledges the impact of visuals. Novels such as Maus by Art Spiegelman and The
Sandman (vertigo) by Neil Gainman, not only appeal to visual learners, but are useful across all
curriculums. Maus and The Sandman offer different style narratives and visuals that reflect the diverse
nature of graphic novels. The variety in compositions between these two demonstrate the strengths of
the graphic novel genre, and how they can be considered valuable sources of education. The use of
word image combination allow the reader of graphic novels to experience much more than what words
allot. For visual learners that struggle with reading compression, the visual components of graphic
novels help portray the context in a medium that is easier for these learners to digest. Maus by Art
Spiegelman is one of

The Relationship Between Unique Resources and Competitive...
The Relationship between Unique Resources and Competitive Advantage for Mega Retailers
Introduction In an increasingly globalized marketplace, some corporations are succeeding while others
are failing by virtue of a valuable competitive advantage. Although competitive advantages can
assume a wide range of forms, they are typically characterized by a combination of skills and
technology that provide improved efficiencies and economies that facilitate firm performance and
profitability. In some cases, competitive advantages are readily apparent while in other cases such
attributes may be less easily discernible. To gain some fresh insights into this area with respect to the
global retailing sector, this paper provides a review of the relevant literature concerning Walmart,
Carrefour and Tesco to determine the extent to which their respective competitive advantages are due
to the possession of unique resources. A summary of the research and important findings are presented
in the paper s conclusion. Review and Analysis Background and Overview There are countless
sources of competitive advantage available to help companies of all types and sizes grow their
business and improve their profitability, provided that business leaders know where to look. Aristotle
Onassis believed that the secret to business success was simply knowing something that nobody else
knows, while organizational behavior theorists believe that the secret to success requires acquiring and

Persuasive Failure
The most significant failure I have experienced took place in the summer of 2013. I was participating
in the NYC Generation Tech Program, having just finished my freshman year in high school. In my
group, I was the youngest, and all my other teammates were going to be seniors the following year.
We had been working hard on our mobile app, the one that we planned to build and present in hopes
of winning the five thousand dollar prize at the end of the summer. It wasn t until we had been about a
quarter of the way through the process, when we experienced what we thought would be the failure
that would prevent us from winning anything. After coming in one day ready to continue work, our
group leader revealed to us that our app had already been made. To us, this was the ultimate failure, as
we would have to start from scratch, thinking of an entirely new app, how it could help people, and
how we would build it. Even though we laughed it off, it was clear to us that we were at a severe
disadvantage. All the other groups had solid apps, and were far ahead of us when it came to app
development. However, it was this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We ended up developing an app called NYC Loop. The purpose of the app was to help teenagers find
things to do all around New York City. The app did something similar apps didn t do, and that was
bring the focus to teenagers. Of all the projects I have participated in academically, this is the one I am
most proud of. Creating it showed me that I could rise above any failure that I encountered, and create
something better, something successful. This was significant to me because once we learned that we
would have to start over, my other group members and I had thought that all was lost. We thought that
even if we did manage to create something, we wouldn t create an amazing app, or something that we
thought would win anything. However, our rise from failure proved us all

The Irony Of The Sinner
While traveling through Hell, Dante the pilgrim encountered numerous sinners on each level, all
prepared to tell their tales of misfortune and transgression. However, though some ask Dante to
remember them or tell their stories on Earth, most of them speak for their own gain, not simply to
educate Dante on the penalties of their sins. Each sinner appears to wallow in the past, isolating
themselves in their sin and occasionally ignoring Dante as a person entirely. Even when these sinners
find themselves physically trapped together with another soul, they remain lonely and miserable in
their suffering: they have deprived themselves of the forgiveness and love God offered them and now
must find something else to love. As they have rejected God, these sinners still seek to fill that void of
emptiness to which they have forever condemned themselves. In Dante Alighieri s Inferno, the irony
of the sinner s contrappaso reflects the irony that, even in the suffering they have brought upon
themselves, they have a misplaced love in their sin in place of the love God offered them.
In Canto V, Dante encounters the Francesca and Paulo, who have thrown away their chance for heaven
for one another, yet enjoyed the action of sinning itself more then each other s company. As soon as
Dante the pilgrim comes upon the pair, Francesca relates the tale of their sin, explaining how this one,
who never shall be parted from me, while all his body trembled, kissed my mouth....that day we read

Incredible Jonas Salk
People are born to do well and make this world a better place. Every once in a while we can see
people on the TV because of something extraordinary they did. It is something that gets to us and
makes us feel happy in a wonderful way. There are many good people wherever you go.
One extraordinary example is the incredible Jonas Salk who created a vaccine against influenza. He
didn t take advantage of his discovery, all the contrary; he made it available for everyone saving
countless human lives. In addition, there is the great Irena Sendler. She was a person who changed for
good the destiny of many people during War World II. She smuggled around 2500 Jewish children to a
safe place and provided them with all the necessary things for them to survive.

Theme Of The Movie Toy Story
An overall theme of the Disney Pixar movie, Toy Story, is that when a person struggles with envy,
they will consequently find themselves in difficult situations and as a result, will gain the opportunity
to recognize their fault. This theme is revealed through various plot elements such as conflict, and plot
chronology. Through the observation of conflict, one recognizes how Buzz and Woody s relationship
changes as Woody s envy dies. In the initial stage of their relationship, conflict can be easily detected
by the audience. This is found when Woody says to Buzz, Listen, Light Snack, you stay away from
Andy. He s mine, and no one is taking him away from me (Lasseter). When the audience witnesses
this, they instantly recognize Woody s envy of Buzz because Buzz is becoming Andy s favorite and
Woody feels like he is being forgot about. Woody s envy drives him to not only speak aggressively to
him, but also encourages him to attack Buzz physically when he later pushes him out of a window.
When the audience notices this aggression, they witness a person vs. person conflict between the two.
This all occurs at the beginning of the film, before the difficult scenario is put upon the protagonist,
Woody. In this movie, the difficult scenario is caused by Woody s jealousy. Specifically, when he
attempts to knock Buzz down a crack in order to hide him from Andy, but instead he accidentally
manages to knock him out the window. As a result, Andy takes Woody because Buzz was nowhere

The Effects Of The Tiananmen Square Protest Of China
Contrary to the Ying and Yang s dependence on each other in Chinese philosophy, the people of China
and their government could not depend on each other. The Tiananmen Square Protest of 1989 was a
democratic movement calling for political and social reforms in China. This student led protest had
been going on for many months but was forcefully oppressed by China s People s Liberation Army on
the night of June third and fourth, 1989. The deaths that occurred as a consequence of the Tiananmen
Square Protest was not the fault of the students, but rather, the disastrous situation China was in
beforehand, the common belief that demonstrations would benefit the people, and the government s
obstinate decisions. China was suffering from harsh living conditions prior to the massacre, which
pushed the students to take action. To begin with, the country had been under intense economic
pressure. After adopting a capitalist type economy, the country began suffering from rising inflation,
declining wages, and increasing unemployment rates. The biggest department store sold two hundred
times its usual monthly income. Fearing inflation would make living necessities unaffordable, citizens
used all their savings to purchase items ahead of time, thus, creating a false demand and increasing
debt. Labour unrest grew as 20 to 30 million citizens were laid off in state enterprises that year. Many
more were laid off in other labour sectors, increasing unemployment rates. Even though China s

The Definition Of Art Therapy
The definition of Art Therapy adapted by the American Therapy Association: Art Therapy is a human
service profession that utilizes art media, images, the creative art process and patient client responses
to the created products as reflections of an individual s development, abilities, personality interests,
concerns and conflicts. Art therapy practice is based on knowledge of human developmental and
physiological theories which are implemental in the full spectrum of models of assessment and
treatment including educational, psychodynamic, cognitive, transpersonal, and other therapeutic
means of reconciling emotional conflicts, fostering self awareness, developing social skills, managing
behaviour, solving problems, reducing anxiety, aiding reality orientation, and increasing self esteem.

(Waller, 2006). Through examination of the drawings and objective findings, it appears that a visual
measurement of creative growth was achieved. (Valerie Smitheman Brown Lutherville, Robin R

expressing thoughts and emotions to successfully facilitate recovery from physiological distress. In
Israel, a model for art therapy has been developed for educational settings with children who behave
aggressively (Edna Nissimov Nahum, 2008 ). Verbal communication is difficult for adolescents and
more difficult for aggressive adolescents, it was found that art therapy can reduce anger and improve
self esteem of aggressive adolescents. (Ramin alavinezhad, Masoumeh Mousavi , Nadereh Sohrabi,

Trauma In The Novel The Suspect By L. R.
How Trauma Can Affect Lives
Many individuals have flashbacks after experiencing trauma. Survivors of such horrible traumas
sometimes can act out in violence, after something triggers them to remember the ordeal. The novel
The Suspect by L.R. Wright, offers a realistic account of what goes on in the mind of an individual
who has committed murder. Throughout the novel, I made connections to many real life examples of
how trauma has affected the lives of criminals and their victims, through either alcohol or mental
illness. Individuals affected by this sort of trauma can seek medical or social help in order to be able to
learn how to cope with daily living.
L.R. Wright starts the novel The Suspect, by talking about how the main character George Wilcox
killed his ex brother in law Carlyle Burke in the isolated little community of Sechelt, British
Columbia. Wright described the scene of how George killed Carlyle. As George was trying to leave,
Carlyle did not like the idea that George was leaving, and was telling him he needed to respect him.

Dna Testing And Law Enforcement Officers Essay
DNA forensics is a division of forensic science that focuses on the use of genetic material in criminal
investigation to answer questions pertaining to legal situations, including criminal and civil cases.
Through DNA testing, law enforcement officers are able to identify human remains or the individual
responsible for a crime. DNA testing is a highly advanced scientific process that involves replicating
the human DNA sequence to create a genetic map of an individual. Because of its reliability, DNA
testing has become a significant factor in criminal cases. However, it has also been identified as
having the potential to violate privacy and constitutional rights. The DNA identification process
consists of five stages. These five stages include isolation, quantification, polymerase chain reaction,
short tandem polymerase chain reaction, and interpretation. Isolation refers to the extraction of DNA
from the nucleus of tissue cells. After extraction, scientists quantify the DNA sample by ensuring that
it is at least one billionth of a gram in size. If the sample is smaller the isolation process must be
repeated. Next, through polymerase chain reaction, the single strand of DNA is split down the middle
into two pieces and replicated to create a larger sample. Next, through short tandem polymerase chain
reaction, smaller sections of the DNA sequence are replicated. This allows scientists to interpret the
DNA and create a genetic profile of the individual from whom the original DNA

My American Culture
Every country has a different culture. It is the concept of what is acceptable within our society. It is the
idea of what is wrong or right. Culture also gives us as a guide, taking us to the right way and helping
us to make sense of things that surround us. There are many different cultures around the world. It is
obviously known as the differences of lifestyle, language, race, religion, and so on. A lot of them are
similar in specific ways, and others are just completely different. I am a girl who grew up in Vietnam
for nineteen years. I experienced a big culture shock when I first came to the US, even though things
got better and I am more familiar with the us culture, I am still experiencing culture shock. Everything
here is different compared to where I come from. It is a big opportunity for me to explore the new
world. I had to change myself in order to adapt to a new environment and learn about the differences
between Vietnamese and American such as families, education, social, and so on. My first challenge is
the language. It is not easy to understand and communicate with people in a new environment and
unfamiliar language. I am unfamiliar with the norms and behavior of a new cultural. The American
lifestyle is more open compare to the Vietnamese lifestyle. In my country, personal values are called
morality since they reflect general expectations of any person in my society. Parents want to monitor
their children s moral value. They do not want them to be

Rhetorical Analysis Of Trump s Inaugural Address
When a president makes his inauguration speech, it usually talks about what is going on with the
country, and illustrates what will be done to fix it. Compared to his predecessors, Trump s speech was
much shorter. I am convinced that he thought that he best thing to do was play it safe in the speech to
save himself from all the criticism that he could. This did not however work out in his favor for the
reason that he might have said more about his presidency by saying less. Trump opened his speech,
not talking about what previous presidents accomplished, instead just acknowledged and thanked
them. It is a very simple and safe introduction to a speech that will continue this theme. Then it goes

What leadership or management style speaks most to me? They are a few leadership styles that I

styles are the most evident to me. Each one has its own distinct advantages and disadvantages.

Encourages others.
Provides support and recognition.
Stirs the emotions of people.
Gets people to look beyond their self interest.
Inspires people to reach for the improbable.
These qualities are fundamental qualities a leader must possess. These are just the building blocks of
crafting the consummate leader. Undoubtedly, while sufficient, they are more qualities required.
What other qualities should a leader have? In addition to the eight qualities mentioned before, a leader
needs a vision. Political sociologists Max Weber and James MacGregor Burns theorized that many
leaders are visionaries. These visionary leaders possess a driving sense of purpose and confidence in
their ability to achieve their goals. They take the lead and inspire others to move forward. This style is
known as the Visionary Leadership style and is necessary in creating a complete leader. All of the
great leaders of the world have a vision. From President John F. Kennedy to Dr. Martin Luther King,
each had visions of something greater. Great leaders give real thought to the values that inspire them
as well as to the people that follow. Ambition and persistence are invaluable to achieving a vision and
are the first steps toward leadership success. On its own a vision does not always make for a great
leader and this is why Visionary Leadership comes in second to Transformational Leadership. A great
leader requires both styles. Adolf Hitler had a vision, as did Pol Pot

Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
His head opened and stuff came out and turned red. Piggy s arms and legs twitched a bit like a pig
after it has been killed (217). This is what can happen to someone when all signs of civilization, order
and power disappear and have no more meaning to members of a group or society. In the writing of
William Golding s Lord of the Flies (1954), the symbol of power and civilization is the conch. Once
that is lost, all bets are off. When the novel begins, two boys are talking about what has happened and
why they are on this island. While walking on the beach, the main character Ralph then proceeds to
find a shell which the two boys call the conch. Blowing on this shell Ralph calls a meeting where the
boys lay out rules and decide they need a signal fire to be rescued from this island on which there are
no adults and no females. During the meeting Jack, a choir boy, decides to organize a group of hunters
to hunt for food. As the story progresses, Ralph finds himself and Jack to be enemies. Then the lord of
the flies begins to emerge within the group, many of whom begin to take on savage behavior, and end
up killing Simon. Jack then decides to go and start his own tribe; he and a lot of the others do so. Even
as the conflict increases between the two rivals, there is ongoing respect for the conch. The same
savages later kill the character Piggy who was not doing anything to them except trying to get his
glasses back that were stolen to make the fire. Then they try to kill

Several studies have shown that food quality, variety of food, atmosphere, service quality, and price

revenue, and customer loyalty. (Qu, 1997; Kivela, Reece Inbakaran, 1999; Pettijohn, Pettijohn Luke,

Price fairness means the judgment of whether an outcome and the process to reach an outcome are
reasonable or acceptable (Bolton Shankar, 2003). The price to be paid for a services and foods
determines the level of quality to be demanded (Soriano, 2003). He also stressed out that the price
(value) of the meal and service are equally important when compared to other service dimensions. The
recent studies by Ng (2005) and Xi and Shuai (2009) did consider price and value in assessing

Cinematic Techniques In The Dressmaker
The Dressmaker has many similar elements and features to spaghetti westerns. How has the director
used this style to engage a modern audience? By Tallulah Stacey Bateman The Dressmaker is a movie
based on the book written by Rosalie Ham. It tells the story of a woman named Tilly determined to
figure out the mysteries of her past. The classic spaghetti westerns have many things in common with
The Dressmaker . Some similar cinematic techniques include camera angles and shots, setting,
costuming and themes. These techniques were captured by the director to engage the modern
audience. Camera angles and shots are essential technique for the director to draw meaning to the
character s stories. A key camera angle is a high angle. In classic westerns the antagonists are

Some themes that are included are justice and love. In Lone Ranger (Directed by Stuart Heisler), it is
seen that a hero dubbed the Lone Ranger, a western version of Robin Hood, is depicted as a saviour of
the innocent. When he is enlisted to unknowingly help the bad guys Lone Ranger decides to help the
Indian Tribal people recover their lands. In The Dressmaker , Tilly seeks a personal injustice that
happened to herself when she was blamed for the murder of her half brother, Stewart, when in truth he
killed himself by mistake. Here we can see that both themes of injustice are battled by each of the
protagonist s own moral code and abilities. Having a faulted yet lovable protagonist can make the
modern audience want to support them in their adventures and trials, and also able to relate to the
character s situations. Love is another key theme in spaghetti westerns with the classic idea of damsels
in distress . Having this stereotype makes the audience believe that the hero and their damsel are
meant to be. When Teddy dies, it gives Tilly the courage to be fearless towards the curses she
proclaims to

Symbolism In Anthem, By Ayn Rand
Ayn Rand, a prominent political figure in the 1930s and 40s, wrote Anthem, which is known for it s
political stances during the late 1930s, particularly on the political dilemmas during that time. On the
other hand, there are plenty of gender ideals represented throughout the book, seen in the theme, the
overall setting, and the two main characters in Rand s literary work.
One of the many themes in the story is how light (happiness) in a dark (difficult) situation can be a
strong motivation to those who see the light. In the first half of the book, Equality 7 2521 takes to
calling Liberty 5 3000 The Golden One, making her a symbol of his light, his happiness. Yet we call
them the Golden One, for they are not like the others. The Golden One are not like the others (Rand,
Anthem). Here Equality has begun calling her The Golden One, saying that she is different from
everyone else. This insinuates that she is the source of his happiness, similar to the idea of the
housewife: her purpose is to provide a happy and calm house for the man to come home to. Therefore,
the theme of light and its representation for happiness, demonstrates gender ideals and constructs from
Ayn Rand s time.
The literary piece is set in a place where men and women are separated and do not experience
interaction except at the Palace of Mating, where men or women have sex, without any emotional
connection or relationship. The separation of men and women insinuates there would be less control

Breaking The Barriers In Robert Frost s Mending Wall
Mending Wall by Robert Frost defines the walls that people have a tendency to build into their lives to
keep other people out. People the majority of the time attempt to respect their neighbors barriers, and
will assist in conserving their boundaries by respecting their personal space. Nevertheless, some
outgoing neighbors will attempt to tear down these walls while still continuing to respect their
neighbor. Additionally, if a friendly neighbor is able to establish unwanted holes in one s wall, they
will in all likelihood help mend these holes so as to keep the integrity of the relationship. Altogether,
individuals in today s society are afraid to allow strangers into their personal lives. People build these
walls in fear that if they allow someone close to them, they give them the ability to hurt them.
Individuals frequently build walls around them, inhibiting others from becoming too close to them.
Additionally, out of respect, true friends often help maintain these wall in order to circumvent conflict.
Furthermore, still being able to maintain a healthy relationship, strangers will avoid infringement of
other s wall. These types of relationships can often be seen in a work environments or amongst
neighbors. In summary, some people regularly attempt to preserve a welcoming affiliation with those

Why School Should Start Later Essay
Mesut Barazany once said, Your future depends on our dreams, So go to bed . Sleep is vital for your
body, to properly function the next day your body needs rest. When students have to wake up at six in
the morning to get ready for school, they are often tired throughout the day. School hours need to be
changed to a later time in the day. First, students sometimes get overloaded with homework and may
not be able to go to bed until late at night. Also, they may not get the amount of sleep they need which
is not healthy. Lastly, they are usually not as focused while they are in class, sometimes even falling
asleep during a lesson. Homework in general can be difficult for a student, but when they get multiple
assignments from more than one class, it can be overwhelming. Homework alone can take hours on
end to finish without adding after school activities like sports or business at home. Studying for exams
can be even more stressful and may take even longer than doing homework, making late nights even
later. Students have to study in order to get good grades, but cutting their sleep short will not benefit

Essay on The Labour Government as The Creator Of The...
The Labour Government as The Creator Of The Welfare State A Welfare State is a system in which the
government undertakes responsibility for the well being of its population, through unemployment
insurance, old age pensions and other social security measures. In order to achieve this the Labour
Government of 1945 51 introduced a number of reforms, including the National Insurance Act of 1946
and the Education Act. They also managed to achieve full employment, a target never met before in
Britain. However, they are not the only reason for the arrival of the Welfare State. The Liberal
Government of 1906 14 also deserves some credit, as well as the coalition government formed during
World War Two, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Labour took the idea they produced three pieces of legislation. These were the National
Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act of 1946, the National Insurance Act of 1946 and the National
Assistance Act of 1948. The National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act made injuries sustained in the
work place a public matter and set up an insurance scheme, where the worker, employer and the state
paid money weekly, providing insurance against injury. The National Insurance Act provided, as
suggested by Beveridge, a range of benefits to cover the person from birth until death. The National
Assistance Act provided further cover for those who were disabled, old aged, sick or of any other
special needs, acting as a safety net. The problem with this, however, was that benefits were not set
high enough and so National Assistance boards were flooded with applications for extra benefit,
creating great strain on the available funds. To deal with the problem of disease Labour provided the
National Health Service. This was completely thought up by them and was very successful. It
provided free medical assistance of any kind, including eye care, dental care, hearing facilities,
specialists and general practitioners. It is arguably the greatest single achievement in the story of the
Welfare State. Ignorance was dealt with through the

How The Virginia State Statue Of Anti Miscegenation And...
For years there have been forbidden love and marriage in the history of the United States, I decided to
write a reflection on my thoughts views, fact findings and information regarding biracial marriages
and segregation laws that were discriminatory in history. I read the short story about the Loving family
and their pursuit to the Supreme Court in 1967, I thought of my own family history and realized that
my paternal grandparents would ve been prosecuted had they lived in Virginia or any other state that
prohibited bi racial marriages in the 1900s.
My grandfather was an Irish man and my grandmother was a Native American Crow Creek
Dakotah/HoChunk woman, luckily they weren t victims of the injustice that has happened, doesn t
mean they didn t fight their own battles against prejudice and discrimination but they weren t
convicted of any crimes for their decision to marry and have a bi racial a.k.a, half breed family.
I chose to write about how the Virginia State Statue of Anti Miscegenation in 1924 directly violated
the Fourteenth Amendment. The Fourteenth Amendment is such a powerful part of the Constitution
because it protects minority rights and recognizes us as true citizens of the United States.
My ancestors, like many others have been exposed to disease purposely, tortured, sexually abused,
physically beaten, mutilated, raped, sexually abused/tortured, starved, and forced to give up their way
of life (language, culture and beliefs)before being forced to

Similarities Between The Greer And The Iliad
3. Homer is a poet that lived in the eighth century. He wrote many poems including the epic The Iliad
and The Odyssey. Both poems are imporant to history because they symbolize some type of lesson
learn. The Iliad was set at the end of the Trojan War which was is a very important war for the Greeks.
The assumptions of Odysseus being dead in the Trojan war shows us today that we can not jump to
conclusions.
4. A polis is a unit of measurement of a city. The Polis labled a full community. The different people
that were involved were the Athens, Sparta, and Thebes and others. The polis showed a political view
on life and showed how cities can be ran under a selected leader or king. The polis is important
because I feel it was a start to showing self goverments and institutions. It was showing that you as a
person had the power to elect your leader, and the city could be successful under one person.
5. A democracy is a governement where citizens get to elect peers to form a governing body. I think
the democracy is important because its allowing you to elect your leader. I think it is important to have
a governement body to control the community and to enforce laws. A repulic is where the
governement is a public matter . In a republic you are not authorized to inherit the city, you are
elected. An Oligarchy is when power is held within a small number of people. An oligarchy tends to

The Death Of A Police Officer
On Aug. 9, 2014, two unarmed teenagers were walking the streets of Ferguson, a suburb of St. Louis.
The names of the two unarmed teenagers were Michael Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson. All of
sudden a police officer named Darren Wilson rushes towards them in his police car and begins to tell
them to get on the ground. The boys had committed no crime and were only one mile from their
destination, they were simply trying to get home and off the streets. Things escalated and the officer
pulled out his gun and told them that he would shoot them. As he was saying these words the officer
pulled the trigger and shot Michael Brown. Both of the boys started sprinting away from Officer
Wilson. The officer continued to pursue Michael Brown and then the unthinkable happened. Dorian
Johnson says in an interview, He shot again, and once my friend felt that shot, he turned around and he
put his hands in the air and he started to get down, but the officer still approached with his weapon
drawn, and he fired several more shots . Michael Brown was shot dead. The shooting immediately
caused riots around the community of Ferguson for weeks. This story is one of the many examples of
what is called biased based policing. The officer chose to do what he did because of his racial bias.
Not all biased based policing is sparked by racial bias but it is one of the bigger issues. The main issue
is figuring out what needs to be fixed in order to refrain from instances like the one in Ferguson.

The Industrial Revolution And The Public Health Revolution
Since our origin, worldwide human population has steadily been on the rise. We humans emerged as a
species about 200,000 years ago. In geological time, that is really incredibly recent. Just 10,000 years
ago, there were one million of us. By 1800, just over 200 years ago, there were 1 billion of us. By
1960, 50 years ago, there were 3 billion of us. There are now over 7 billion of us. By 2050, your
children, or your children s children, will be living on a planet with at least 9 billion other people.
During some time towards the end of this century, there will be at least 10 billion of us. We got to
where we are now through a number of civilization and society shaping events , most notably the
agricultural revolution, the scientific revolution, the industrial revolution and in the West the public
health revolution. By 1980, there were 4 billion of us on the planet. Just 10 years later, in 1990, there
were 5 billion of us. By this point initial signs of the consequences of our growth were starting to
show. Not the least of these was on water. Our demand for water not just the water we drank but the
water we needed for food production and to make all the stuff we were consuming was going through
the roof. But something was starting to happen to water. There are now more than 7 billion of us on
Earth. As our numbers continue to grow, we continue to increase our need for far more water, far more
food, far more land, far more transport and far more

Making A Murderer, Directed By Laura Ricciardi And Moira...
Steven Avery, a family man, a victim of injustice and an accused murderer. One may have reasoned
that his murder conviction was a crime of passion, due to the injustice Steven suffered from his 1985
false conviction of rape and assault, but that may have been before his story caught national attention.
A documentary, Making a Murderer , directed by Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, arose from his
story s infamy. With this documentary came numerous questions as to Avery s possible innocence, but
above all else answers that shed light on a possibly corrupt justice system that appears intent on
framing Steven Avery for Teresa Halbach s murder. Making a Murderer effectively portrays a message
of the injustice of Steven Avery s murder conviction and possible corruption within the Manitowoc s
justice system through the use of footage and accounts from people who were involved with his
conviction.
Making a Murderer starts with Avery s exoneration of the conviction of rape and assault of Penny
Beerntsen. Consistently, Steven Avery asserted that he was innocent and that he had an alibi.
Regardless of his assertions he spent 18 years, of a 32 year sentence, in prison before he was finally
found innocent by DNA evidence and was released. Reasonably, Avery pursued a $36 million lawsuit
against the Manitowoc County for his wrongful conviction. Consequently, this lawsuit made Avery an
enemy of the county. When Teresa Halbach, an AutoTrader magazine photographer, was reported

The Chaos and Division of Asia s History Essay
The assigned readings about Asian history lead a unified conclusion that the past (history) of Asia was
characterized with chaos and internal divisions. China, once again entered an era of divisiveness and
chaos. Competing warlords dominated China for the next 350 years (The Golden Age of China: 79).
China is a perfect symbol of Asia s history because if studied from the past, the history of China
demonstrates how divisions took place in the country s political and economic spheres. China s history
reveals how the religion led to emergence of chaos in the country. This shows that religion, in the
history of Asia, was more divisive than uniting when individual countries considered their religions as
different. Religious harmonization of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Initially, Chinese had coexisted well under one rule. However, three powerful dynasties emerged after
the Han dynasty, forming three kingdoms of Wei, Shu, and Wu. An element of democracy started
getting into China s politics, though at the time of the three dynasties, the kings had amassed power
through their naval strength. The fact that power was divided from one kingdom to three, however,
shows decentralization of influence, which is an element of democracy. The formation of the three
dynasties in China did not offer any practical solution to the chaotic situation in the country. This
disapproves the imagination that democracy was growing in the country. If it was indeed democracy,
then its growth had not ended. This is because after the formation of the three dynasties, political
division in China widened even further. No powerful dynasty in the continent s history appeared to be
answering the question of China s unity. It appeared like political plurality had entered in China to
stay. For example, the failure of the Jin Dynasty to solve the puzzle of China s political unity shows
how divisive China was becoming. Polarization of leadership was more serious in Northern China.
This judgment arises from the fact that the Jin dynasty did not solve the puzzle of multiple kingdoms
in the north of China. Sixteen kingdoms emerged in the north as the Jin dynasty attempted to unite
China.
The spread of Buddhism to China, and its

  • 2. Tajikistan Republic of Tajikistan Tajikistan (officially the Republic of Tajikistan) is a mountainous landlocked country in Central Asia. Afghanistan borders it to the south, Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north, and People s Republic of China to the east. Tajikistan also lies adjacent to Pakistan s Chitral and the Gilgit Baltistan region, separated by the narrow Wakhan Corridor. Most of Tajikistan s population belongs to the Persian speaking Tajik ethnic group, who share language, culture and history with Afghanistan and Iran. Once part of the Samanid Empire, Tajikistan became a constituent republic of the Soviet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, in the pre Buddhist times (7th 6th century BCE), the parts of modern Tajikistan including territories as far as Zeravshan valley in Sogdiana formed parts of ancient Kamboja and the Parama Kamboja kingdoms when it was ruled by the Kambojas till it became part of Persian Achaemenid Empire. After the Persian Empire was defeated by Alexander the Great, the region became the northern part of Hellenistic Greco Bactrian Kingdom. From the last quarter of 4th century BCE until the first quarter of the 2nd century BCE, it was part of the Bactrian Empire, from whom it was passed on to Scythian Tukharas and hence became part of Tukharistan. Contact with the Chinese Han Dynasty was made in the 2nd century BCE, when envoys were sent to the area of Bactria to explore regions west of China. Arabs brought Islam in the 7th century CE[citation needed], more or less forcing the people to convert. The Samanid Empire supplanted the Arabs and enlarged the cities of Samarkand and Bukhara, which became the cultural centers of Tajiks (both of which are now in Uzbekistan). The Mongols would later take partial control of Central Asia, and later the land that today comprises Tajikistan became a part of the Emirate of Bukhara. A small community of Jews, displaced from the Middle East after the Babylonian captivity, migrated to the region and settled there after 600 BCE, though the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Review Of Mars Venus And Vulcan By John Singleton Copley This piece is called, Mars Venus and Vulcan: The Forge of Vulcan, it is an oil canvas done by John Singleton Copley, done in 1754. The era that this piece most represents is the Eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries of art in Europe and North America. This is because of the brief use of nudity and the use of children that are shown as little angels. The artist also used a sense of time and motion. It is as if the figures in the piece are moving themselves. The use of 3 D and kinetics allows this sense of movement in this piece. Also the artist used repetition and rhythm. The viewer s eye is constantly moving because of this sense of repetition and rhythm My personal thoughts to this piece of art is in all honestly a sense of confusion. Overall I like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The era this piece most represents is the Renaissance art in the fifteenth century Italy. It goes best with this era because of its use of nudity and shape and lighting. Its use of space of sharp edges and sculpture figures. Also the use of lighting shows an almost 3 D like image. Even though this is a print it almost seems like a picture of statues. The artist also used a sense of scale and proportion in this piece. Every statue is differently scaled from the others. The body parts on each statue did not quite fit with the other body parts. Every statue is different in size, stance, and color. Also the background behind each figure is different from the other ones, in its use of color and detail. I am very fond of this work of art. The way every part of it is different and that there is no pattern and nothing is the same really intrudes me. The detail on each figure is incredibly real. The fact that someone did this in today s world is also extremely interesting. By looking at this piece at first I thought for sure it was from the far past, when I found out it was not and that it was a newer piece I was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Death Is A Bit Taboo The idea of death is a bit taboo, however it is the unspoken reality of life. Naturally, there comes a time when you will no longer be a part of the ever evolving world physically and it will be your time to die. The question that has arisen is whether or not an individual s unbearable pain should constitute them to request death. A person should not have to be hooked up to machines in order to be kept alive, if that is not what they want; they should be able to choose death. Perhaps when Patrick Henry stated, Give me liberty or give me death he was not referring to assisted suicide but the principles still remain the same. Our society was built on the principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; lying in a bed while incapacitated is not living, freedom or happiness. The idea of assisted suicide is to permanently end the suffering of an individual after every other opinion has been exhausted and it allows the patient to take control of their lives. When an individual becomes terminally ill many options regarding their health is placed in the doctor s hands and the individual s family s hands, leaving the sick patient without control over their body and over their life. When the patient loses control regarding their healthcare and their health continues to decline without improvement, the thought of suicide rises because the individual wants to simply escape their pain and suffering. However, due to the fact that in many states assisted suicide is illegal, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Upper Of The Body Is Defined As Beginning At The Cervical Backround The upper quarter of the human body is defined as beginning at the cervical region, continuing to the shoulder girdle, elbow, wrist, and digits (Hand Therapy Certification Commission, 2002). The upper extremity is used for physical interaction with the world that surrounds an individual, allowing function, production, expression, and independence in daily activities as one moves through the life span (Mayo Clinic, 2014; Meyer, 2003). The frequent use of the upper quarter increases risk for traumatic injury, but also strain to the area, as is indicated by more than half of individuals over the age of 55 showing radiographical evidence of osteoarthritis in at least one hand (Dahaghin, Bierma Zeinsta, Reijman, Pols, Hazes, Koes, 2005). Despite the commonality of referrals to hand therapists to facilitate recovery of upper quarter injuries or conditions, the literature outlines that objective, functional, and in some cases psychological deficits remain for many patients past the point of discharge. When assessing recovery from a spectrum of conditions and injuries literature suggests objective measures, such as grip strength and/or range of motion, within in large percentages of patients, are significantly decreased compared to the unaffected limb or standardized norms at both discharge and follow up visits (Poole, Santhanam, Latham, 2012; Macdermid, Richards, Roth, 2001; Wilcke, Abbaszadegan, Adolphson, 2007). It has also been surmised that deficits in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Persuasive Essay On The Intolerable Acts We are tired of having our voices silenced and being punished for our harmless actions. We acted in defiance and in turn we had soldiers placed in our homes, taxes imposed and the removal of our charter. We should be able to speak freely without persecution. As shown by the Intolerable Acts, we cannot show our dissatisfaction and speak our minds using action without limitations imposed by the Motherland. Why continue to be punished and limited when we do not even have representation in the government that leads us? We need to show the motherland that their restrictions are an overreaction to our harmless acts and revolt against our cruel leaders. We had soldiers placed in our homes as part of the Intolerance Acts. We were punished for dumping tea into Boston Harbor. An act for punishing mutiny and desertion, and for the better payment of the army and their quarters... forces us to house and provide resources for soldiers. That mutiny being us throwing tea into the harbor in rebellion for the cruel monopolization and taxation of all tea we purchase. The so called Quartering Act placing soldiers in our homes was decided upon none other than ...the present session of parliament... that we are not represented in. Placing soldiers in our homes is worse enough, but furnishing them with fire, candles, vinegar, and salt, bedding, utensils for dressing their victuals, and small beer or cyder... is, even more, a burden to our hard earned money. And what happens if we revolt against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Theme Of An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge The story of An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge expresses a dark theme with attention to death, mental deterioration, time distortion, and forces beyond nature. These themes are commonly demonstrated by the author, Ambrose Bierce, a civil war veteran. Bierce also tends to incorporate his own experiences during the war into his works as a writer. As he fought in the battle of Shiloh, he came across a waterway known as Owl Creek. Consequently, he was captured in Northern Alabama by Confederate soldiers but escaped successfully. The events that took place during this part of the civil war greatly influenced and therefore laid the foundation for the author to write the story of Owl Creek Bridge. Peyton Farquhar, the protagonist in the story, was faced with many obstacles throughout the plot s development. Although Farquhar was threatened to be hung by Confederate soldiers, he never failed to imagine the best scenario to improve his imminent situation. The only difference between stepping stones and stumbling blocks is how you use them . In Owl Creek Bridge, Peyton Farquhar dealt with many obstacles thrown in his path and used them to make the best out of his dire circumstances. Farquhar owned a large plantation in Alabama, and was a very successful planter for his high class, imperious, southern family. Being a slave owner, he was politically submerged in the Southern cause. However, he was unable to fight for the south in the war, and he desperately wanted to contribute in ... • 8. Analysis Of Maus And The Sandman By Neil Gainman When defining great literature, graphic novels are often the last source scholars and educators consider. In general, graphic novels are seen as low brow, mass culture entertainment or as pedagogical tools (Long 6). In recent years graphic novels have proven to be worthy of being considered great literature and valuable tools in the classroom. Comic books should not be viewed simply as aesthetic objects, but rather as texts which function when read by their audience within a specific context. Our education curriculums are heavily relied on reading comprehension, which has proven to be a struggle for visual learners. Graphic novels offer value, variety, and new medium for literacy that acknowledges the impact of visuals. Novels such as Maus by Art Spiegelman and The Sandman (vertigo) by Neil Gainman, not only appeal to visual learners, but are useful across all curriculums. Maus and The Sandman offer different style narratives and visuals that reflect the diverse nature of graphic novels. The variety in compositions between these two demonstrate the strengths of the graphic novel genre, and how they can be considered valuable sources of education. The use of word image combination allow the reader of graphic novels to experience much more than what words allot. For visual learners that struggle with reading compression, the visual components of graphic novels help portray the context in a medium that is easier for these learners to digest. Maus by Art Spiegelman is one of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Relationship Between Unique Resources and Competitive... The Relationship between Unique Resources and Competitive Advantage for Mega Retailers Introduction In an increasingly globalized marketplace, some corporations are succeeding while others are failing by virtue of a valuable competitive advantage. Although competitive advantages can assume a wide range of forms, they are typically characterized by a combination of skills and technology that provide improved efficiencies and economies that facilitate firm performance and profitability. In some cases, competitive advantages are readily apparent while in other cases such attributes may be less easily discernible. To gain some fresh insights into this area with respect to the global retailing sector, this paper provides a review of the relevant literature concerning Walmart, Carrefour and Tesco to determine the extent to which their respective competitive advantages are due to the possession of unique resources. A summary of the research and important findings are presented in the paper s conclusion. Review and Analysis Background and Overview There are countless sources of competitive advantage available to help companies of all types and sizes grow their business and improve their profitability, provided that business leaders know where to look. Aristotle Onassis believed that the secret to business success was simply knowing something that nobody else knows, while organizational behavior theorists believe that the secret to success requires acquiring and sustaining a ... • 10. Persuasive Failure The most significant failure I have experienced took place in the summer of 2013. I was participating in the NYC Generation Tech Program, having just finished my freshman year in high school. In my group, I was the youngest, and all my other teammates were going to be seniors the following year. We had been working hard on our mobile app, the one that we planned to build and present in hopes of winning the five thousand dollar prize at the end of the summer. It wasn t until we had been about a quarter of the way through the process, when we experienced what we thought would be the failure that would prevent us from winning anything. After coming in one day ready to continue work, our group leader revealed to us that our app had already been made. To us, this was the ultimate failure, as we would have to start from scratch, thinking of an entirely new app, how it could help people, and how we would build it. Even though we laughed it off, it was clear to us that we were at a severe disadvantage. All the other groups had solid apps, and were far ahead of us when it came to app development. However, it was this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We ended up developing an app called NYC Loop. Creating it showed me that I could rise above any failure that I encountered, and create something better, something successful. This was significant to me because once we learned that we would have to start over, my other group members and I had thought that all was lost. We thought that even if we did manage to create something, we wouldn t create an amazing app, or something that we thought would win anything. However, our rise from failure proved us all ... • 11. The Irony Of The Sinner While traveling through Hell, Dante the pilgrim encountered numerous sinners on each level, all prepared to tell their tales of misfortune and transgression. However, though some ask Dante to remember them or tell their stories on Earth, most of them speak for their own gain, not simply to educate Dante on the penalties of their sins. Each sinner appears to wallow in the past, isolating themselves in their sin and occasionally ignoring Dante as a person entirely. Even when these sinners find themselves physically trapped together with another soul, they remain lonely and miserable in their suffering: they have deprived themselves of the forgiveness and love God offered them and now must find something else to love. As they have rejected God, these sinners still seek to fill that void of emptiness to which they have forever condemned themselves. In Dante Alighieri s Inferno, the irony of the sinner s contrappaso reflects the irony that, even in the suffering they have brought upon themselves, they have a misplaced love in their sin in place of the love God offered them. In Canto V, Dante encounters the Francesca and Paulo, who have thrown away their chance for heaven for one another, yet enjoyed the action of sinning itself more then each other s company. As soon as Dante the pilgrim comes upon the pair, Francesca relates the tale of their sin, explaining how this one, who never shall be parted from me, while all his body trembled, kissed my mouth....that day we read no ... • 13. Theme Of The Movie Toy Story An overall theme of the Disney Pixar movie, Toy Story, is that when a person struggles with envy, they will consequently find themselves in difficult situations and as a result, will gain the opportunity to recognize their fault. This theme is revealed through various plot elements such as conflict, and plot chronology. Through the observation of conflict, one recognizes how Buzz and Woody s relationship changes as Woody s envy dies. In the initial stage of their relationship, conflict can be easily detected by the audience. This is found when Woody says to Buzz, Listen, Light Snack, you stay away from Andy. He s mine, and no one is taking him away from me (Lasseter). When the audience witnesses this, they instantly recognize Woody s envy of Buzz because Buzz is becoming Andy s favorite and Woody feels like he is being forgot about. Woody s envy drives him to not only speak aggressively to him, but also encourages him to attack Buzz physically when he later pushes him out of a window. When the audience notices this aggression, they witness a person vs. person conflict between the two. This all occurs at the beginning of the film, before the difficult scenario is put upon the protagonist, Woody. In this movie, the difficult scenario is caused by Woody s jealousy. Specifically, when he attempts to knock Buzz down a crack in order to hide him from Andy, but instead he accidentally manages to knock him out the window. As a result, Andy takes Woody because Buzz was nowhere ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Effects Of The Tiananmen Square Protest Of China Contrary to the Ying and Yang s dependence on each other in Chinese philosophy, the people of China and their government could not depend on each other. The Tiananmen Square Protest of 1989 was a democratic movement calling for political and social reforms in China. This student led protest had been going on for many months but was forcefully oppressed by China s People s Liberation Army on the night of June third and fourth, 1989. The deaths that occurred as a consequence of the Tiananmen Square Protest was not the fault of the students, but rather, the disastrous situation China was in beforehand, the common belief that demonstrations would benefit the people, and the government s obstinate decisions. China was suffering from harsh living conditions prior to the massacre, which pushed the students to take action. To begin with, the country had been under intense economic pressure. After adopting a capitalist type economy, the country began suffering from rising inflation, declining wages, and increasing unemployment rates. The biggest department store sold two hundred times its usual monthly income. Fearing inflation would make living necessities unaffordable, citizens used all their savings to purchase items ahead of time, thus, creating a false demand and increasing debt. Labour unrest grew as 20 to 30 million citizens were laid off in state enterprises that year. Many more were laid off in other labour sectors, increasing unemployment rates. The Definition Of Art Therapy The definition of Art Therapy adapted by the American Therapy Association: Art Therapy is a human service profession that utilizes art media, images, the creative art process and patient client responses to the created products as reflections of an individual s development, abilities, personality interests, concerns and conflicts. Art therapy practice is based on knowledge of human developmental and physiological theories which are implemental in the full spectrum of models of assessment and treatment including educational, psychodynamic, cognitive, transpersonal, and other therapeutic means of reconciling emotional conflicts, fostering self awareness, developing social skills, managing behaviour, solving problems, reducing anxiety, aiding reality orientation, and increasing self esteem. In Israel, a model for art therapy has been developed for educational settings with children who behave aggressively (Edna Nissimov Nahum, 2008 ). • 16. Trauma In The Novel The Suspect By L. R. How Trauma Can Affect Lives Many individuals have flashbacks after experiencing trauma. Survivors of such horrible traumas sometimes can act out in violence, after something triggers them to remember the ordeal. The novel The Suspect by L.R. Wright, offers a realistic account of what goes on in the mind of an individual who has committed murder. Throughout the novel, I made connections to many real life examples of how trauma has affected the lives of criminals and their victims, through either alcohol or mental illness. Individuals affected by this sort of trauma can seek medical or social help in order to be able to learn how to cope with daily living. L.R. Wright starts the novel The Suspect, by talking about how the main character George Wilcox killed his ex brother in law Carlyle Burke in the isolated little community of Sechelt, British Columbia. Wright described the scene of how George killed Carlyle. As George was trying to leave, Carlyle did not like the idea that George was leaving, and was telling him he needed to respect him. • 17. Dna Testing And Law Enforcement Officers Essay DNA forensics is a division of forensic science that focuses on the use of genetic material in criminal investigation to answer questions pertaining to legal situations, including criminal and civil cases. Through DNA testing, law enforcement officers are able to identify human remains or the individual responsible for a crime. DNA testing is a highly advanced scientific process that involves replicating the human DNA sequence to create a genetic map of an individual. Because of its reliability, DNA testing has become a significant factor in criminal cases. However, it has also been identified as having the potential to violate privacy and constitutional rights. The DNA identification process consists of five stages. These five stages include isolation, quantification, polymerase chain reaction, short tandem polymerase chain reaction, and interpretation. Isolation refers to the extraction of DNA from the nucleus of tissue cells. After extraction, scientists quantify the DNA sample by ensuring that it is at least one billionth of a gram in size. If the sample is smaller the isolation process must be repeated. Next, through polymerase chain reaction, the single strand of DNA is split down the middle into two pieces and replicated to create a larger sample. Next, through short tandem polymerase chain reaction, smaller sections of the DNA sequence are replicated. This allows scientists to interpret the DNA and create a genetic profile of the individual from whom the original DNA ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Symbolism In Anthem, By Ayn Rand Ayn Rand, a prominent political figure in the 1930s and 40s, wrote Anthem, which is known for it s political stances during the late 1930s, particularly on the political dilemmas during that time. On the other hand, there are plenty of gender ideals represented throughout the book, seen in the theme, the overall setting, and the two main characters in Rand s literary work. One of the many themes in the story is how light (happiness) in a dark (difficult) situation can be a strong motivation to those who see the light. In the first half of the book, Equality 7 2521 takes to calling Liberty 5 3000 The Golden One, making her a symbol of his light, his happiness. Yet we call them the Golden One, for they are not like the others. The Golden One are not like the others (Rand, Anthem). Here Equality has begun calling her The Golden One, saying that she is different from everyone else. This insinuates that she is the source of his happiness, similar to the idea of the housewife: her purpose is to provide a happy and calm house for the man to come home to. Therefore, the theme of light and its representation for happiness, demonstrates gender ideals and constructs from Ayn Rand s time. • 38. Texas Government Reflection I really enjoyed and learned new things about the Texas government. This class was not a usual class for me, usually I take in class sessions, so it was little challenging for me the way I learn things. Through this class I understand my weakness and strong side of my learning style and the good and bad of my style. The online session taught me how I can learn by myself, manage the time and get a good grade. Usually I just read over the notes and study the material for the tests, but for this class I have to create my own notes and understand what does it mean. All of the assignments especially the focus free writing, helped me to understand about the Texas government and how does it works. The reading assignments were so interesting, usually ... • 40. Making A Murderer, Directed By Laura Ricciardi And Moira... Steven Avery, a family man, a victim of injustice and an accused murderer. One may have reasoned that his murder conviction was a crime of passion, due to the injustice Steven suffered from his 1985 false conviction of rape and assault, but that may have been before his story caught national attention. A documentary, Making a Murderer , directed by Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, arose from his story s infamy. With this documentary came numerous questions as to Avery s possible innocence, but above all else answers that shed light on a possibly corrupt justice system that appears intent on framing Steven Avery for Teresa Halbach s murder. Making a Murderer effectively portrays a message of the injustice of Steven Avery s murder conviction and possible corruption within the Manitowoc s justice system through the use of footage and accounts from people who were involved with his conviction. Making a Murderer starts with Avery s exoneration of the conviction of rape and assault of Penny Beerntsen. Consistently, Steven Avery asserted that he was innocent and that he had an alibi. Regardless of his assertions he spent 18 years, of a 32 year sentence, in prison before he was finally found innocent by DNA evidence and was released. Reasonably, Avery pursued a $36 million lawsuit against the Manitowoc County for his wrongful conviction. Consequently, this lawsuit made Avery an enemy of the county. When Teresa Halbach, an AutoTrader magazine photographer, was reported ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Chaos and Division of Asia s History Essay The assigned readings about Asian history lead a unified conclusion that the past (history) of Asia was characterized with chaos and internal divisions. China, once again entered an era of divisiveness and chaos. Competing warlords dominated China for the next 350 years (The Golden Age of China: 79). China is a perfect symbol of Asia s history because if studied from the past, the history of China demonstrates how divisions took place in the country s political and economic spheres. China s history reveals how the religion led to emergence of chaos in the country. This shows that religion, in the history of Asia, was more divisive than uniting when individual countries considered their religions as different. Religious harmonization of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially, Chinese had coexisted well under one rule. However, three powerful dynasties emerged after the Han dynasty, forming three kingdoms of Wei, Shu, and Wu. An element of democracy started getting into China s politics, though at the time of the three dynasties, the kings had amassed power through their naval strength. The fact that power was divided from one kingdom to three, however, shows decentralization of influence, which is an element of democracy. The formation of the three dynasties in China did not offer any practical solution to the chaotic situation in the country. This disapproves the imagination that democracy was growing in the country. If it was indeed democracy, then its growth had not ended. This is because after the formation of the three dynasties, political division in China widened even further. No powerful dynasty in the continent s history appeared to be answering the question of China s unity. It appeared like political plurality had entered in China to stay. For example, the failure of the Jin Dynasty to solve the puzzle of China s political unity shows how divisive China was becoming. Polarization of leadership was more serious in Northern China. This judgment arises from the fact that the Jin dynasty did not solve the puzzle of multiple kingdoms in the north of China. Sixteen kingdoms emerged in the north as the Jin dynasty attempted to unite China. The spread of Buddhism to China, and its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
