GRACE FO (Gravity recovery and Climate Experiment Follow on) is one of JPL s newest satellites
missions in partnership with the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ). While current,
openly available literature, does not detail a laser communication crosslink, the mission does
incorporate a laser technology experiment designed to precisely measure the distance between the
twin satellites (Walbolt, n.d.). This mission and, more specifically, this particular payload may provide
an analogous reference point for future laser crosslink missions. However, it may be difficult to
ascertain the value of foreign contributions.

In the 1960s, the Vietnam War greatly affected American society, as many citizens did not condone of
the egregious war, prompting protests. Following attacks by the North Vietnamese, the United States
began bombing North Vietnam, leaving Americans to question the government s motives in this war.
Only a small number of citizen backed the anti war movement at first; however, the exorbitant number
of causalities, along with the draft system, caused even more individuals to join the movement. The
anti war protest gained an abundance of publicity and respect after Civil rights leader, Martin Luther

Customs And Traditions Of Filipino Superstitions
Reflection
There are so many interesting Filipino superstitions or folk beliefs associated with New Year s Eve
and New Year s Day in the Philippines. Filipinos say you should observe the following customs and
traditions to ensure that the New Year being welcomed is a prosperous one. Many of these
superstitions bear a strong Chinese influence specially wearing Polka Dots cloths.
According to Filipino folklore, circles symbolize future good luck and riches. No matter what we wear,
though, New Year signifies a new beginning. Flipping open a fresh calendar, with its 12 pristine, as yet
unmarked months, is perhaps one of the most universally hopeful acts we humans perform: finally, a

It is also popular practice to open all the doors and windows at the stroke of midnight to let in the

is common for many Filipinos to blend religion and superstition in celebrating New Year s Day.
If you want to bring in more wealth next year, wear clothes with polka dots or other circular designs.
The roundness of the circles is meant to resemble coins and prosperity.
In the other hand, most of the Filipinos say that we can wear whatever dress we want the most
important is we celebrate our year with new beginning with our family. Besides, we can welcome our
year without wearing these polka dots. Thanks giving and praising God in the midnight because He
gives another year for us to enjoy the give of life. Prosperity comes after who sacrifices, through
sacrifices and trusting God comes after success. Traditions, customs, superstitions, and celebrations in

Upon The Burning Of Our House
Scriptures composed by authors around the world at many different times is how literature came to be,
and seeing how it has shaped and changed over the years is truly astounding. One might turn towards
a writing called Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God , by Jonathan Edwards to get a sense of how
dark someone can make a piece of text, or maybe a poem called, Upon the Burning of Our House , by
Anne Bradstreet, to see how well words can be put together to contemplate a life like experience.
Jonathan was born in 1703 and was a child prodigy at Yale University, which led him to become a
Puritan minister later in life, which greatly affected his writing style. Whereas Anne Bradstreet was
born in 1612 in England and had been brought up well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem Upon the Burning of Our House , Bradstreet displays a kind of depressing mood as she
explains her losses in great detail, but also has a sense of hope, as she thinks of how God has blessed
her throughout her life and how he will continue to do so once she dies and goes to heaven. In the last
stanza of the poem, it reads, A price so vast as is unknown/ Yet by His gift is made thine own/ There s
wealth enough, I need no more/ Farewell, my pelf, farewell my store/ The world no longer let me
love/ My hope and treasure lies above. From reading this part of the passage and seeing how she
words the things that she has lost, it makes the tone very dark, whereas later on in the stanza, where
she explains how her treasures being above, leaving a spark of hope. In a contrasting story, where
Bradstreet leaves a spark of hope, Edwards leaves nothing behind as he explains the fierceness of God
and his lack of mercy. In Edward s writing, his main focus was to convince the reader(s) that God was
a downright cold blooded killer that wouldn t hesitate to kill anyone. In the middle of the writing,
Edwards says, The bow of God s wrath is bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and justice
bends the arrow at your heart, and strains the bow, and it is nothing but the mere pleasure of God, and
that of an angry God, without any promise or obligation at all, that keeps the arrow one moment from
being made drunk with your blood. This short quote gives a frightening and very dark mood as he
portrays God to be totally merciless, and caught up in his own power to kill anyone. Seeing how each
of these authors wrote their compositions, it is very clear how they differ in their personality or

Causes Of The Musket War
In the beginning of the 19th century, almost all New Zealanders were considered to be Maoris. The
Maoris made up nearly the whole country, with a population between 100 120,000, while the
European population was down in the hundreds. In 1818, the Musket Wars resulted in the loss of over
a fifth of the Maori population, at least 20,000 dead and thousands more captured ( Overview of NZ ).
The Musket War was a war that began when the Europeans introduced their advanced technology and
muskets into New Zealand. The Musket Wars were a series of inter tribal wars caused by tribes all
trading to obtain muskets. At the end of the wars, in 1830, a new conflict for the Maori population
took rise when warfare gave way to economic rivalry ( The Musket Wars ). From 1830 on, Europeans
would come to New Zealand in waves of hundreds and thousands of people, threatening the Maoris
once complete control over the land. This brewing economic rivalry was what paved the way for the
Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand s founding document. This treaty was interpreted differently by the
English and Maoris, something the British had purposely done. The British plan to deceive the natives
resulted in both land and governmental conflicts. Land disputes caused by the treaty s
misinterpretations between the Maori people and the settlers sparked the New Zealand Wars in 1861
1870. At the end of these wars, new laws were passed that nearly abolished Maori rights. In 1896,
New Zealand was no longer a Maori

Voltaire s Candide and Moliere s Tartuffe
Introduction
The Enlightenment brought about a brand new way of thinking. The traditional, conservative
mannerisms displayed by the church were slowly losing popularity amongst its citizens. The
introduction of reason, knowledge, and rationality were beginning to take center stage of the time.
However, the power of the church was intact. Quite knowingly, much power presents the threat of
corruption and desolation in any situation. Both Moliere and Voltaire utilize strikingly similar
characters throughout their adventures in the form of Candide and Orgon. Both characters have
exhibited similar levels of gullibility, wealth, and overall good outcomes despite hardships that they
face.
Naivety
Tartuffe s Orgon is probably one of the most naïve characters to have graced a play. His never ending
belief that Tartuffe is some God among men is ridiculous. Orgon believes that Tartuffe is actually, no
loftier soul since time began (Moliere 114). His son did not even have a chance to reverse the way he
felt about Tartuffe. After pleading Orgon to come to his senses, Orgon immediately shuns and scours
Damis for trying to falsify Tartuffe s divine nature. He responds to his son with Ah, you deceitful boy,
how dare you try to stain his purity with so foul a lie? (Moliere 134). Candide is just as, if not more
stubborn in the way that he is not willing or capable to think for himself, but rather rely on the
philosophical expertise of Pangloss in order to make decisions or

on both sides must recognize basic areas of contract agreement and the importance of other terms and
conditions. Two days after the escrow opened, the buyer conducted the home inspection. As the home
inspector recommended that the buyer needed to spend addition costs for minors repairs. According to
the additional terms conditions, the seller was not responsible for any repairs and the buyer was
completely satisfied with the current condition of the property. Two days later, a certified appraiser

contracted price. According to the standard terms in California purchase contract, the buyer has the
right to renegotiate the purchase price if the appraised value is less than the offer price. In this given
situation, the seller was willing to lower the price down to appraised value of $422,000. In the event of

Analytical Review Of Jaws
The shark theme appeared for the first time on the film during the opening credits, with the camera
view under the sea symbolizing the view of the shark when it swims underwater. The theme has
couple music arrangements played by different instruments which are bass, celli, trombone and tuba.
Part of the music seems be played by alternating two notes. Apart from that, the music is also played
in high register and has a menacing tone. Part of the music is in slow tempo, part of it has fast tempo.
The slow tempo part of the theme is signifying the behavior of the shark that comes to its victim
quietly and cautiously without the acknowledgement of the victim. Meanwhile, the fast tempo part of
the theme symbolizes the moment when the shark attacks

Questions On The Healthcare System
Discussion Questions 1. As the healthcare system prepares to select a outsource company as its vendor
for this project, what types of information should it give to and gather from each vendor under
consideration? An request for information (RFI) is typically used as a pre screening tool and is
generally sent to a large number of vendors who EHR systems could potentially meet the needs of the
organization. Essentially, it is used in the planning process to eliminate vendors. Typically, the scope
of an RFI includes vendor background information, system technical architecture, interoperability
health information exchange, system features and functionality, specific patient centered care

instructions for vendor bidding, 2) organizational objectives, 3) organizational background and

Media By Alex Brunstad, Body Shaming And Social Media
Body shaming someone describes how mean the society can be to troll someone on their physical
appearance (Jain). Body shaming people affects their self esteem. People think it is normal to criticize
the body of others because they are accustomed to do it every day, that sometimes they do not even
realize it. Society body shames others all the time, instead of helping them feel secure and happy with
their bodies. They want other people to look the way they want to be look at. Body shaming is
affecting people physically and mentally.
No doubt, when people express how they feel on social media about other s bodies, it can affect the
people they have on their social media. Because they can be going through the same thing as the
person they are describing. Alex Brunstad in Body Shaming and Social Media , explains how she feels
about social media and that it actually affects her when someone talks about other people s bodies.
The author explains how she feels saying that social media, originally a platform by which I hoped to
give and receive support from likeminded individuals, quickly became a toxic environment for
strengthening my relationship with my body . People that feel insecure about their body expect that
others would accept them on how they look and receive support on how they truly feel about
themselves. Since they already know how they look, they do not need a remainder.
Body shaming is even more difficult to people that feel insecure about their body every day. In a
society that puts so much emphasis on body image and beauty, it is so easy to get caught up in self
condemnation and body shaming (Aceves). Society concentrates more on how the person looks
physically. Instead of, accepting them on how they are and concentrating on other things. For that
reason, people who feel offended thru others want to be accepted by them. They start to stop eating,
they become bulimic, anorexic or fall into depression. Just because they want to look at how society
wants them to look.
Therefore, to stop these bullies, people that are being body shamed need to stand up for themselves
and respond to the comments. For instance, if you are going to a family party and you know that they
tend to criticize your

Year-Round Schooling Analysis
After reading Year Round Schooling Explained by Jaclyn Zubrzycki, Stop the Summer Slide by Nina
Rees, and Kids Need Year Round Schools to Compete by Anne McFeatters, year round school sounds
like an extraordinary idea for schools. Year round schools seem to be a way to bring in more breaks,
but more schooling involved. Multi week summers end in money loss of parents, and academic loss in
students. Also, year round demonstrates new ideas and concepts of academic success. In Year Round
Schooling Explained by Jaclyn Zubrzycki, I support year round school versus standard school because

Along with the comeback of school we need to Pity our poor teachers who spend every September

lacks over the summer and forgets to stick for the arrival of school. As stated, teenage workers jobs
have become taken by those whom are unsuccessful adults trying to make a living. Being a teenager, I
plan on trying to get a job, but my education is also in my hands of retaining throughout a summer of
jobs and even summer school to keep up with my schooling to get into more colleges with an
overloaded class agenda. Year round school would keep up with my education, and there would be
more breaks to find jobs here and there to keep up with extra curricular, or even my car. Altogether,
year round school is an idea of success and needs to become more known to keep the nation s
knowledge developing. The more academics a child learns, the more growing of academic maturation.
Although year round school seems time consuming, it is all but a new layout for schools to show off
their intelligence. More jobs will become fulfilled with the new year round impacting on a schedule
known to follow along an entire year. Make more year round schools; it sounds like an extravagant

Viva La Vida Coldplay Analysis
Throughout history, there have been countless accounts of empires and kingdoms that have fallen due
to power and corruption. Kings and rulers, who were once able to break all laws without any
consequences, became shadows of their former selves and were forced to be remembered as failures.
The song Viva la Vida by Coldplay shows first hand account of a king, Louis XVI, the last monarch of
France, who had fallen prey to the destruction that power can bring. Listeners get a memoir of this
king who went from being a the pillar of society to a man whose legacy was tarnished by corruption.
Absolute power is able to corrupt even the noblest of hearts and, through the use of metaphor,
Coldplay has shown the regression of a king who s was thought to have everything a man wants. The
narrator is a wealthy king who is used to ruling over others. In the first line of the song Being apart of
the monarch, he was born into a life of luxury, never wanting for anything. In the line One minute I
held the key we see that he once was able to walk with his head held high, holding all the power to do
with as he wished. He was the king and, besides God, there was no one above him. By the line Next

Why the Rank Structure and Chain of Command Are Important
There are a lot of reasons for the rank structure and the chain of command. Every reason that I am
going to explain in this essay is very important. I am going to separate them into two paragraphs. The
first paragraph will be about the importance of the rank structure and why the rank structure is in
place. The second paragraph will be about the importance of the chain of command and why the chain
of command is set into place. The rank structure goes back to the 1700 s. The rank structure was put
into place so that the soldiers had someone that was there to give out orders; also the rank structure
was there to teach the newer enlisted respect. If the rank structure was not in place, there would be no
order or discipline in the army. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But there is one simple way to fix that problem that a lot of us lower enlisted seem to have. If the
person you are about to talk to is not your chief or one of the other chiefs in your platoon. Do not talk
to them unless they speak to you first. And all you really need to say to them is check, roger, hooah. In
the past year and three months, I have had a lot of trouble realizing this. I tend to do the wrong thing
and go talk to who I need to talk to without going about it the right way. If you want to talk to your
commander, you need to talk to you chief, then your platoon sergeant, then your first sergeant, then
you can talk to your commander. This may seem like a lot of work. But in all actuality if the problem
that you have is able to be fixed beforehand, then it was all worth the work. Yes there are going to be
situations when you know that it can only be fixed by talking to the highest person in the chain of
command, but the chain of command needs to know what is going on so that they can try to help you
and explain the situation to the next person up. Before I realized that the chain of command is here for
the soldier, I always thought that it was just so that your chief and your platoon sergeant do not look
bad to the person above them. In some cases this may be slightly true, but it is not just about that. It is
about helping you out as much as possible. Help yourself by going through the chain of command.

Explain The Role Of Mitochondria In The Cell
1. What is the function of mitochondria in the cell?
Mitochondria convert the chemical energy stored in food into compounds that are more convenient for
the cell to use. They are the power plants of the cell.
Do plants and animal cells have mitochondria?
Yes, both plan and animal cell shave mitochondria. They are similar because they are both eukaroyotic
cells, which means they have several features in common; cell membrane, cell organelles, nucleus,
mitochondria, and endoplasmic reticulum.
From where are mitochondria inherited?
In humans, our mitochondria come from the cytoplasm of the ovum, or egg cell. Unlike nuclear DNA,
which comes from both parents, mitochondrial comes only from our mother. We inherit our

Amputations were very common during the civil war because there were no antibiotics and infection
was very common. Many things could result in amputations including gunshot wounds, infections,
multiple breaks in a bone, injury, etc. Chloroform was used to sedate patients before surgery for an
amputation. Most amputees would not go back into battle. Over 75% of the amputees survived
surgery, which was a lot considering that medical knowledge wasn t that advanced since America had
a mindset of war over medicine, at the time. Also, since there were so many amputations and almost
all of the surgeons could do them, doctors were nicknamed sawbones .
This pamphlet was a guide for a surgeon to perform an amputation. As most surgeons had very little
medical training, this was completely necessary. More than 30,000 amputations were performed
during the civil war, with a 23.4% mortality rate. As surgeons got more ... Show more content on

Surgeons worked very hard and once the Civil War was over (likely) or the army thought it was time
for a soldier to leave the war (less likely) they were discharged. By the time the civil war ended more
than 12,000 surgeons had served. In all, more than 174,000 wounds were presented in field hospitals
around the US. Of these, 30,000 resulted in amputations by a surgeon. Surgeons were completely
necessary for the success of either side (though the North won the war) to succeed in the war.
This image shows Mary Edward Walker. She was the only female surgeon to ever serve during the
Civil War and advocated for women s rights. During the Civil War, she was captured by the
Confederate Army. When she was released, she received the Medal of Honor for her meritorious

suffrage. Mary Walker started the realization and advocation that women are equal to

Hurricane Katrina Sociology
When Hurricane Katrina slammed onto the gulf shores of Louisiana in 2005, few people understood
what impact the storm would have on the city of New Orleans. According to the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA), Katrina caused an estimated $108 billion dollars of damage, displaced
250,000 residents and killed over 1800 lives, most being African American and the poor ( Downey,
2011). To present a sociological view of how Hurricane Katrina affected the people of New Orleans,
one must first understand how the people of New Orleans lived before Katrina caused its mass
destruction. The focus of this paper will be to uncover how race and class affected the people of New
Orleans pre Katrina and how post Katrina has altered their cultural ... Show more content on

The first lesson was that all federal agency personnel must understand the roles and responsibilities
they have when a natural disaster strikes (Menzel, 2006). In addition and most importantly, they must
all be aware of the situation on the ground and work together to share a common operating strategy
when an incident occurs (Menzel, 2006). These lessons led to the formation of the National
Operations Center to deal with a natural disaster or catastrophic crisis.
Hurricane Katrina revealed the difference in preparedness programs that citizens had based on the
jurisdictions the lived in. The White House Report Recommendations concluded how inadequate these
programs were and recommended to combine the various disparate citizen preparedness programs into
a single national campaign to promote and strengthen citizen and community preparedness (Menzel,
2006). Ten years later, FEMA continues to support families and communities of all racial backgrounds
and social classes (FEMA, 2015). Because of Hurricane Katrina, FEMA established an Incident
Management Response Team who are now able to be deployed within 2 hours of a disaster and arrive
within 12 hours to help support local residences (FEMA, 2015). FEMA have significantly improved
their ability to help assist all communities in responding to and recovering from

The world is subjected with its fate from birth till death taking its own journey of life. No matter how

The Perceptual Dichotomy Between Science And Culture
The Perceptual Dichotomy Between Science and Culture
Is a person a homosexual or do they simply identify as a female in a man s body; is a lady African
American or does she simply have dark colored skin? These are two of the basic examples of how
science and culture have differing opinions. In this work, I will examine the diametrically opposing
views of science versus culture on human variation. The concepts of race versus skin color and gender
versus sex will be the primary focal points of this writing. For the scientific perspective, data will be
used from the works of both D. Crocetti, who holds a Ph.D. in Science, Technology and Humanities,

Rather, I am saying that obviously they are not going to enjoy reproductive success and therefore their
genetic material will be removed from the evolutionary chain. Hence, I do not think there is a
scientific explanation or reason for someone s sexual preference, nor should there be. A person is born
either male or female and if their lineage is going to survive the natural selection process, then they
must mate with a human of the opposite sex in order to create offspring. Of course, this is not the
politically correct position in this country where the opinions of an extremely vocal minority have
given rise to gender neutrality and even the idea of a third gender.
Homo Sapient evolution is still a highly debated topic which abounds with misinformation leading to
relatively intelligent individuals who still try to deny that evolution is how we as a species came to be.
However, it has stood the test of time as a scientifically supported theory and its evidence grows on a
regular basis due in large part to the recent breakthroughs in DNA research and the complete mapping
of the human genome. Even though science has shown all humans share a recent common ancestor,
prejudiced beliefs about peoples race still influence social interaction and have for most of recorded

The Value Of A Migrant Worker Essay
A.) Social Location / pg.3: The group memberships that people have because of their location in
history and society
In The Harvest, it was interesting how the entire make up of the families was based on being a migrant
worker. Every person in the family seemed to already know what their role was going to be as a child,
there role in society was already pre mapped out for them. The goal as a family was to have everyone
in the United States working together in the fields. The families followed a yearly routine, following
the harvesting of different crops around the country. Their travels, their homes, their income, their
education, their social life, their human survival all based on the harvesting of the different crops. The
views of the world and the individual s role in life and society is very limited. The one little girl
actually said she wasn t sure that she had a dream. That she had goals in life, but she wasn t really sure
of an actual dream. Me coming from and growing up in the working middle class, my role as a child
was to play and receive an education. I knew on some sort of level that my responsibility was going to
school, have friends and a social life, and hopefully work and progress in my field of studies. Making
a comfortable living and having hopes of an increase of salary. The migrant workers in this video have
very different dynamics. There was a large responsibility placed on the young children not even old

Iago Greed Quotes
It is common to be taught to always use whatever resources are available to reach a goal. Whatever is
provided is fair to use to attain a vision. However, there is a fine line between being resourceful and
being manipulative. Both come from greed. This conception applies to a self centered character, Iago,
in Othello. In Shakespeare s Othello, Iago is not an envious character, but he is just a clever man, who
is able to decipher and magnify other characters flaws, to benefit him. To fulfill his selfish desires, he
uses the most destructive weapon in the play; trust. Iago manages to manipulate Roderigo s
incompetence to think for himself, Othello s insecurities and Cassio s chivalrous nature to achieve is
greatest intent.
Firstly, Roderigo s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

talks about Cassio s lack of knowledge and experience with fighting (I.i.20 27). Although, Iago may
seem jealous of Cassio, he is only furious with Othello. Later, when Cassio welcomes Emilia by
kissing her hand, he is being polite. He also speaks very highly of Desdemona by saying, One that
excels the quirks of blazoning pens, (II.i.69). Even though he genuinely respects her, he can be
perceived as provocative. Moving on, Iago tries to get Cassio drunk. Since Cassio is very kind, he
eventually gives in and takes some alcohol, which leads to him getting into a brawl with Montano and
Roderigo, staged by Iago. Othello becomes aware of the irrational fight and strips Cassio of his
lieutenancy, for his foolish behaviour. (II.iii.264 265) Cassio takes Iago s advice of seeking
Desdemona s help to earn his job and trust with Othello, back. He too refers to Iago as honest Iago,
(II.iii.355) Cassio places his trust with Iago, while Iago uses this to misrepresent Cassio and
Desdemona s interactions to Othello. Eventually, Othello gives Cassio s lieutenant position to Iago,
but Iago continues to cause more chaos. Hence, Iago was not really jealous of Cassio taking his

Piano Techniques
Though it can shift from person to person, proper piano technique is essential for a pianist. Not only
can they prevent the damage of your health, it also improves the way you play the piano. There are
key ideas on proper piano technique that you have to keep in mind. The first one is the position of
your body to the piano. The second would be the position of your shoulders, arms, hands, and fingers
to your body and the piano. The way your legs and knees are positioned is the third key point that
contributes to the piano techniques. And last but not least, the way your fingers play the keys on the
piano. Remember that each person is different. The piano techniques can vary from person to person.
These are just the basics even a beginner should know.
We should first talk about your posture. Posture is very important when playing the piano. It
maximizes your efficiency when playing the piano. When we talk about posture, we are referring to
the way to sit to the way our body parts are relative to the piano. For piano, your should sit in the
middle of the bench, not all the way in the back or all the way in the front. Your knees should be just
below the front of the piano and your hamstrings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As said before, your knees should be placed under the front of the piano. Place your feet below or a
little in front of your feet. It can optimize your structure and support your legs while playing. If you
put them behind your knees, it will result in improper breathing and tense muscles of the lower back
and abdomen. This can cause you to slouch and become tired while playing the piano.
These positions are the basic proper piano techniques. Playing the piano takes the effort of your whole
body, not just your hands or fingers. However, as said before, it may vary from person to person. It
depends on your height and build. The most important thing is that you are comfortable while playing
the piano, even during long periods of

Firstly, this segmentation focuses on the cluster audience, also aim to maintain the 18 to 34 year old
female, who are the main targeting audience of TFC, and could give return to the advisor; because of
their ability of purchasing and their desire of make/dress up. So the focusing of this scenario does not
miss the main customer by the broad appeal based audience segment.
Secondly, it increases the rating from 1.0% to 1.2%. The increase could be interpreted as more

Answer 2
As shown by the exhibit 4 and 5, the expected outcome of each of the targeting scenarios is as the
following:
Scenario I could get a net income as flat as last year s, even with the increase of most generation
operation fees. Without the additional investment, this scenario tries to use getting more audience
(increase rating) and sale more advertising (decrease price) to make revenue growth.
Scenario II try to get more income with risky investment in additional programming fee and more
narrow specific audience targeting. This could make TFC more professional and make the advertising
information more efficiency.
Scenario III expect the revenue growth by increase the viewer and sale more advertising even in high
prices. The expensive programming investment was flatted by the larger group of audience subscribe
fee and higher advertising price sale.
Answer 3

Sports Betting Lucrative in the United States
Robert Kiyosaki once said, Successful people take big risks knowing they might fall hard but they
might succeed more than they ever dreamed. This man is a billionaire that hit the jackpot, while
gambling. He now owns eleven different businesses and he is worth over eighty million dollars. If
someone could learn how to astute, they could live like him too. The articles, The Legalized Gambling
Debate, Sports Betting Should be Legal, and Should Sports Gambling be Legal?, all attribute thought
to this suggestion. Gambling is a feasible business as it provides revenue, sponsors education, and
inspires gamblers.
Sports gambling is legal in all the countries besides the United States. As Zak Lutz said in the article,
Should Sports Gambling be Legal?, sports gambling, for the most part, is illegal in the United States
with the exception of four states, which include Delaware, Nevada, Oregon, and Montana. We gamble
when we buy state lottery tickets, go to the horse tracks, and spend money at casinos. The federal law

dollars set aside for food and spend that. A person could bring maybe thirty dollars for souvenirs.
Instead of spending their money on that, they want to make a profit. Betting only a little bit of money

Violence As A Cleansing Force Essay
The third aspect of the function of violence in decolonization is violence as a cleansing force. For
Fanon, in the process of decolonization, violence liberates the consciousness of the oppressed people
by erasing their inferiority complex: At the level of individuals, violence is a cleansing force. It frees
the native from his inferiority complex and from his despair and inaction; it makes him fearless and
restores his self respect. [. . .] When the people have taken violent part in the national liberation they
will allow no one to set themselves up as liberators. (The Wretched of the Earth 94) In other words,
Fanon emphasizes violence as a cathartic element through which colonized man can create a sounder
self identity. We can find some famous examples of violence as a cleansing force in American
literature. In Richard Wright s Native Son, Bigger Thomas, the protagonist, feels a sense of freedom
for the first time in his life after he kills Mary Dalton, the white girl, because the violence of murder is
the only practice of rebellion for him to commit throughout his whole life against the structural
violence rampant in a racist society. Max, Bigger s lawyer, explains how Bigger felt after he has killed
Mary Dalton as follows: He murdered Mary Dalton accidentally, without thinking, without plan,
without conscious motive. But, after he murdered, he accepted the crime. And that s the important
thing. It was the first full act of his life; it was the most

Summary Of The City Of Pigs
In the book the Republic Socrates creates a city called the City of Pigs. Socrates refers to it as the true
city, the healthy ones. His companions do not like the idea of this city. They all come up with a city
that they all agree with called the City of Luxury. They believe this city is good and unbiased. I agree
with them, I think the City of Luxury is a better city and is overall more unbiased than the City of
Pigs.
The City of Pigs is a peaceful city. Everybody gets along and nobody causes trouble. Every citizen in
this city has their own craft. If the people have a lot of skill and ability to be really good at their craft
they will stay with that craft the rest of their life. There is no money in this society, everybody
contributes by using their craft to serve the community. There is no greed or envy towards one
another. The craftsman s class are made with builders, farmers, cobblers, carpenters, weavers,
shepherds, smiths, and traders. There is however some sort of currency for trading goods. This is for
everybody to be able to cover their needs of housing, clothing and food. The people in this city are
stable and healthy. Nobody overindulged or was unhealthy in this society. Socrates believe if people
ate healthy and felt good about themselves, people would strive in society and become more valuable
to the community. They believed that a healthy body and healthy mind equals a successful life. They
would feed themselves meals made of barley, flour and wheat, noble

The Feminist Movement Of Henrik Ibsen s Ibsen
Granted that, Ibsen had disclosed that he was not consciously writing the play to support the feminist
movement, nor did he have any intentions to motivate women to follow Nora s footsteps. He actually
had treated a Scandinavian who had followed Nora s footsteps distastefully, and criticized her because
she took her child when running away, instead of running away by herself (Templeton 35). The reason
for his hypocritical attitude to the woman was to protect himself from the many critics that were
already accusing him of a supporter. He had many women in his life that were mistreated due to the
societal differences, and actually was mentored by Magdalen Thoresen, who was one of the first New
Woman he had met. He eventually married her Magdalen s stepdaughter, Suzannah, and wrote about
her in order to remind people of Suzannah (Templeton 36). Ibsen may have spoken out against being a
supporter, but his motives for such actions were very prevalent in his life. Nevertheless, those two
females were not the most important feminists in his life however. Camilla Collett, one of the most
active feminists in the European countries had. She wrote a novel stating how women s feelings matter
and they have rights as human beings to education and free will of who they are to marry. Publishers
gave her the ultimatum of a masculine name change, or no name at all (Templeton 36). Somehow she
became known as the author and was exiled. Her and Suzannah Ibsen became close friends and

Comparison Of Monster In Frankenstein
In the Novel Frankenstein by Mary shelly, the novel jumps between the two narrative perspectives of
monster and creator. By jumping from two different perspectives throughout the novel we are able to
understand the thoughts and feelings of each character in a new way. Reading through different
perspectives, allows the story to have greater depth and meaning. Each perspective brings a new
dimension to the novel that makes for a more complex story. Furthermore, the perspectives allow for
the two characters to be compared and contrasted throughout the entirety of the novel. When reading
from Victor s point of view, we can see how he feels about the monster. How can I describe my
emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pains and care I had
endeavoured to form? His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful.
Beautiful! Great God! His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his
hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only
formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same colour as the dun
white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion and straight black lips. (Chapter 5)

something great for mankind. While reading through the monster s point of view we can understand a

Evolution Of The Grand Canyon National Park
The evolution of the Grand Canyon National Park has been one of the marvels of the world to which
many researchers had dedicated substantial amount of controversial studies in attempt to accurately
estimate the origin of the canyons and caves/gorges ages and Colorado Plateau current attained mean
elevation of nearly horizontal sedimentary rocks based on numerous scientific interpretation of new
research data without consideration of a slew of prior geologic data sets that confused geologists many
generations ago. It is widely believed in the industry that weather element and volcanism during the
ice ages (Cenozoic period) raised the amount of water in the Colorado River drainage system which
increased the speed of the Colorado river and its active tributaries and its ability to cut through rocks
many years ago, steepened the river (tributaries) gradient attributed to the uplift of the Colorado
Plateau sitting near at sea level and the great depth of the Grand Canyon (Flowers, 2010).
Additionally, increased differential erosion rate billions of years ago, exposed major geologic rock
structures by cutting almost all the terraced walls of the current Grand Canyons created in part by
volcanic activity that deposited lava and ashes across the area which completely obstructed the

The Dutchman By Leroi Jones
Race and Racism
Race and racism have been around since mankind made its first steps on the planet and it has brought
upon violence, submissiveness, cruelty, and sexism into the world. A great representation of these
themes and issues was brought by LeRoi Jones, who wrote The Dutchman . The play itself is a great
representation of the relationships of races in America during the 60 s and can even been connected to
today s society. The Dutchman mainly focuses on the black white relationship but can also be drawn
to other cultures and races. I, myself, can also relate to what LeRoi Jones wrote in one way or another.
Being a different culture and not being accepted was the first façade of America that I got ... Show

Clay actually does recognize what has happened to him and even tells her that he could kill her and
the rest of the white people on the train. Clay makes it clear to Lola that the white oppression will
eventually backfire on the white race because blacks will not take it anymore. Lula then decides that
the only way she can silence him is by murdering him and that is exactly what she does.
The white Lula is a thirty year old femme female who alternately seduces and insults Clay as she
engages in a variety of conversations with him on the train. Lula is the representation of the Western
Civilization and she seems to be trapped by her own cultural identity. Lula is able to provide a curtain
because no one is supposed to sense her real intentions and her eagerness to move on to her next
victim. She is simply made to destroy. She can t abide the brutal honesty of Clay s final speech, in
which he is finally truthful about his fate and his will to change it.
Clay represents the everyday black man and can be compared to Adam. Lula personifies white
dominance and the resent for the lack of black assimilation to the white culture. You can draw a
connection to Adam and Eve because Lula seduces Clay sexually with an Apple. LeRoi Jones made a
great point because white society seems to be very afraid to lose its dominance especially here in the

Discussion Group Discussion Questions
1. a) The class is in a productive zone when every individual is contributing to the discussion.
Prevalent silence is a sign that we aren t being productive, but the discussion must also be meaningful
rather than just filling the silence. For me personally, I need to make sure to pick the times when my
input is most insightful to speak up, as well as trying to reach out to the people who are quiet. My
level of heat started out too high and went down to a manageable amount where I don t feel nearly as
afraid to contribute. The class as a whole tends a little on the cold side, and that seems mostly due to
fear of heat. It s not that people don t want to contribute, it s that they re afraid of saying something
stupid or meaningless.
b) Success would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jeff says he doesn t want to edit the paper, but he accepts anyways. Annie believes she can prove that
the school is profiling. Annie and Britta don t want to add anyone to the study group. Jeff frequently
excersises control over the study group.
Interpretations: Jeff just wants the editor position so he can have an office. Annie thinks the school s
Dean is racist. Annie doesn t actually think the school s Dean is racist, she only wants to have an
interesting story for the paper. The study group is conflicted about adding new people. The study
group looks to Jeff for guidance.
3. What has surprised you about the group dynamic in the class?
There has been a lot of genuine support for other peoples ideas and also the conversation we all had
where we established that we don t think other people look as stupid as they think they do. I realize
that we re all civil, but I feel like people actually care more than I would have expected. 4. At first I
didn t think I was going to enjoy this class at all, but it s actually grown on me. Outside of this class, I
don t think I would be friends with anyone, but inside I actually appreciate them and seeing how they

The Role Of Liberal Values At The International Level
4. By using its influence to diminish the role of liberal values at the international level
As China is becoming a global power today, China s views on liberal values are gaining a greater
share in the global marketplace of ideas negatively affects America s national interests, since its
growing power and the example of its development could have considerable ideological influence
upon other countries.
China s economic rising power has deflected international criticism of its records of democratization
and human rights. Human rights issues have indeed been given less importance during high level
official visits. Today, the U.S. president seldom directly demands the release of Chinese political and
religious dissidents. Under such circumstance, the United States and China are competing directly for
impact upon shaping the international rules and norms. China has been highly supporting recent
initiatives such as the G20, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the New Development Bank of
the BRICS countries, and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, in which Western
governments play a significantly smaller role than in longer existing institutions, such as WTO,
NATO, etc.
In addition to that, as I have argued before, although China does not fight against liberal democracy
with a counter ideology, it does approach the potential norm of promoting liberal democratic values
with the norm of international diversity.
The concept of international diversity is that

The Impact Of Federal Funds On The Workforce Will Affect...
Intro As my parents discuss the need to continue working several more years until retirement, I have
thought about how their continuation in the workforce will affect me after graduation. Are there going
to be less job opportunities available for the newly graduated because people like my parents intend to
work until they are 70? Also why do they believe they need to work until they are 70? Is the low
Federal Funds Rate, which sets the tone for other interest rates, impacting their retirement savings? It
is in hope of seeking answers to the questions I raised above that I selected to research the impact the
federal funds rate has on the economy and weather the continued low rate needs to be increased.
Research
The Federal Funds Rate is arguably the most important interest rate in the world as it sets the tone in
the market. This is the overnight interest rate used when banks borrow money from other banks or
from the Federal Reserve. (Miller, 2016) If they do not have enough on hand to lend out, the Federal
Reserve would be a place where banks can borrow money overnight. The rate is a tool used by the Fed
to control the supply of available money therefore controlling inflation and other interest rates. (Fed
Funds Rate: Definition, Impact and How it Works, n.d.) The higher the rate the more it costs to borrow
money which lowers the supply of money. The lower the rate the less it costs to borrow which
increases the supply of money. While it may seem natural that a very

Essay on Joan of Arc
Joan of Arc
The effect of Joan of Arc can be best understood and explained by looking at some of the events
surrounding her birth and childhood. She was born in the later half of the Hundred Years War. The war
was between France and England, which began over the land and control of Aquitaine, located in the
southern part of France. Both countries had made legitimate claims of the land, but the dispute was
unresolved and war was declared. The war was mainly fought in France and by 1429, England had
gained a great portion of France. Joan also entered the world at a time that there was a lot of turmoil
not only in her country but also within the church. At this time the Christian theology was not catering
enough to the nobility or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Baudricourt was a ruthless soldier and simply dismissed her, saying to Joan s cousin Take her home to
her father and give her a good whipping. However she did not leave the town and was very persistent
with Baudricourt. Baudricourt noticed her persistency and it gradually made an impression on him.
After she predicted the defeat of the French army outside of Orleans, her cause began to gain ground.
She finally went to see the king with three escorts. She dressed in man s clothing, probably to protect
her modesty in the rough terrain of the military camp, and on March 6 she reached Chinon. Two days
later she was admitted to see the King Charles VII. To test her, he disguised himself in the crowd as a
regular person, but she saluted him immediately. The king had her sent to be examined by doctors and
bishops, they found nothing wrong with her or heretic about her speech. She then returned to Chinon
where Charles VII gave her a sword, which she refused and asked for the one that she said was buried
behind the altar in the chapel of Ste Catherine de Fierbois. Charles VII did what she asked and sent
people to look for this sword; it was found in the very spot she had indicated. She was then ready for
war however; Joan told Sire de Rotslaer that she would save Orleans. She told him how she would be
wounded in the chest, but it

Investment Analysis of Stock Offerings of British Petroleum
From: Investment analysis team To: Potential Investor
Subject: Investment Analysis of Stock Offerings of British Petroleum
BP s stock offering, which is part of the government s decentralization plan, has come at a time when
markets are still feeling the aftermath of what has been the biggest one day drop in history. This has
caused detrimental effects on the market which is felt by most, if not all companies. What could have
been an attractive offer has turned sour as BP s stock price dipped dramatically.
Upon analysing this fund raising issuance along with the current market environment, we have
concluded that this offering is not as valuable despite the addition of the repurchase plan (put option)
after the first payment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of having the customers pay 1.2 on the first date and 1.05 each on the second and third
payment dates, a payment scheme of 1 on October 1987 and 1.15 on August 1988 and April 1989 will
make the BP stock offering a better one. Values higher than the payment amounts are what we need
since it will allow investors to have payoffs regardless of the movements of the stock price. Compared
with the value in Annex 4, the payoff in this recommendation is 0.03648, compared to simply
changing the put price, which yields a payoff of 0.00003. If this payment scheme is applied, the
breakeven price for the option strike price significantly decreases to around 0.6338.
Combining these two changes together, the investment becomes more valuable. Our computations
show a payoff of 0.1459 when the strike price is 0.85 and changing the payment scheme to 1.0 on
October 1987 and 1.15 each on August 1988 and April 1989.
To sum everything up, this stock offering is not a good investment on its current terms. The repurchase
plan may have given the issuance a little boost but it really hasn t given enough to make BP s stock
offering beneficial to the investor. However, should management decide to change the factors such as
the stock price

  • 6. Upon The Burning Of Our House Scriptures composed by authors around the world at many different times is how literature came to be, and seeing how it has shaped and changed over the years is truly astounding. One might turn towards a writing called Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God , by Jonathan Edwards to get a sense of how dark someone can make a piece of text, or maybe a poem called, Upon the Burning of Our House , by Anne Bradstreet, to see how well words can be put together to contemplate a life like experience. Jonathan was born in 1703 and was a child prodigy at Yale University, which led him to become a Puritan minister later in life, which greatly affected his writing style. Whereas Anne Bradstreet was born in 1612 in England and had been brought up well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the poem Upon the Burning of Our House , Bradstreet displays a kind of depressing mood as she explains her losses in great detail, but also has a sense of hope, as she thinks of how God has blessed her throughout her life and how he will continue to do so once she dies and goes to heaven. In the last stanza of the poem, it reads, A price so vast as is unknown/ Yet by His gift is made thine own/ There s wealth enough, I need no more/ Farewell, my pelf, farewell my store/ The world no longer let me love/ My hope and treasure lies above. From reading this part of the passage and seeing how she words the things that she has lost, it makes the tone very dark, whereas later on in the stanza, where she explains how her treasures being above, leaving a spark of hope. In a contrasting story, where Bradstreet leaves a spark of hope, Edwards leaves nothing behind as he explains the fierceness of God and his lack of mercy. In Edward s writing, his main focus was to convince the reader(s) that God was a downright cold blooded killer that wouldn t hesitate to kill anyone. In the middle of the writing, Edwards says, The bow of God s wrath is bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and justice bends the arrow at your heart, and strains the bow, and it is nothing but the mere pleasure of God, and that of an angry God, without any promise or obligation at all, that keeps the arrow one moment from being made drunk with your blood. This short quote gives a frightening and very dark mood as he portrays God to be totally merciless, and caught up in his own power to kill anyone. • 7. Causes Of The Musket War In the beginning of the 19th century, almost all New Zealanders were considered to be Maoris. The Maoris made up nearly the whole country, with a population between 100 120,000, while the European population was down in the hundreds. In 1818, the Musket Wars resulted in the loss of over a fifth of the Maori population, at least 20,000 dead and thousands more captured ( Overview of NZ ). The Musket War was a war that began when the Europeans introduced their advanced technology and muskets into New Zealand. The Musket Wars were a series of inter tribal wars caused by tribes all trading to obtain muskets. At the end of the wars, in 1830, a new conflict for the Maori population took rise when warfare gave way to economic rivalry ( The Musket Wars ). From 1830 on, Europeans would come to New Zealand in waves of hundreds and thousands of people, threatening the Maoris once complete control over the land. This brewing economic rivalry was what paved the way for the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand s founding document. This treaty was interpreted differently by the English and Maoris, something the British had purposely done. The British plan to deceive the natives resulted in both land and governmental conflicts. Land disputes caused by the treaty s misinterpretations between the Maori people and the settlers sparked the New Zealand Wars in 1861 1870. At the end of these wars, new laws were passed that nearly abolished Maori rights. In 1896, New Zealand was no longer a Maori ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Voltaire s Candide and Moliere s Tartuffe Introduction The Enlightenment brought about a brand new way of thinking. The traditional, conservative mannerisms displayed by the church were slowly losing popularity amongst its citizens. The introduction of reason, knowledge, and rationality were beginning to take center stage of the time. However, the power of the church was intact. Quite knowingly, much power presents the threat of corruption and desolation in any situation. Both Moliere and Voltaire utilize strikingly similar characters throughout their adventures in the form of Candide and Orgon. Both characters have exhibited similar levels of gullibility, wealth, and overall good outcomes despite hardships that they face. Naivety Tartuffe s Orgon is probably one of the most naïve characters to have graced a play. His never ending belief that Tartuffe is some God among men is ridiculous. Orgon believes that Tartuffe is actually, no loftier soul since time began (Moliere 114). His son did not even have a chance to reverse the way he felt about Tartuffe. After pleading Orgon to come to his senses, Orgon immediately shuns and scours Damis for trying to falsify Tartuffe s divine nature. He responds to his son with Ah, you deceitful boy, how dare you try to stain his purity with so foul a lie? (Moliere 134). Body shaming people affects their self esteem. People think it is normal to criticize the body of others because they are accustomed to do it every day, that sometimes they do not even realize it. Society body shames others all the time, instead of helping them feel secure and happy with their bodies. They want other people to look the way they want to be look at. Body shaming is affecting people physically and mentally. No doubt, when people express how they feel on social media about other s bodies, it can affect the people they have on their social media. Because they can be going through the same thing as the person they are describing. Alex Brunstad in Body Shaming and Social Media , explains how she feels about social media and that it actually affects her when someone talks about other people s bodies. The author explains how she feels saying that social media, originally a platform by which I hoped to give and receive support from likeminded individuals, quickly became a toxic environment for strengthening my relationship with my body . People that feel insecure about their body expect that others would accept them on how they look and receive support on how they truly feel about themselves. Since they already know how they look, they do not need a remainder. Body shaming is even more difficult to people that feel insecure about their body every day. In a society that puts so much emphasis on body image and beauty, it is so easy to get caught up in self condemnation and body shaming (Aceves). Society concentrates more on how the person looks physically. Instead of, accepting them on how they are and concentrating on other things. For that reason, people who feel offended thru others want to be accepted by them. They start to stop eating, they become bulimic, anorexic or fall into depression. Just because they want to look at how society wants them to look. Therefore, to stop these bullies, people that are being body shamed need to stand up for themselves and respond to the comments. Kings and rulers, who were once able to break all laws without any consequences, became shadows of their former selves and were forced to be remembered as failures. The song Viva la Vida by Coldplay shows first hand account of a king, Louis XVI, the last monarch of France, who had fallen prey to the destruction that power can bring. Absolute power is able to corrupt even the noblest of hearts and, through the use of metaphor, Coldplay has shown the regression of a king who s was thought to have everything a man wants. The narrator is a wealthy king who is used to ruling over others. In the first line of the song Being apart of the monarch, he was born into a life of luxury, never wanting for anything. Every reason that I am going to explain in this essay is very important. I am going to separate them into two paragraphs. The first paragraph will be about the importance of the rank structure and why the rank structure is in place. The second paragraph will be about the importance of the chain of command and why the chain of command is set into place. The rank structure goes back to the 1700 s. The rank structure was put into place so that the soldiers had someone that was there to give out orders; also the rank structure was there to teach the newer enlisted respect. If the rank structure was not in place, there would be no order or discipline in the army. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But there is one simple way to fix that problem that a lot of us lower enlisted seem to have. If the person you are about to talk to is not your chief or one of the other chiefs in your platoon. Do not talk to them unless they speak to you first. And all you really need to say to them is check, roger, hooah. In the past year and three months, I have had a lot of trouble realizing this. I tend to do the wrong thing and go talk to who I need to talk to without going about it the right way. If you want to talk to your commander, you need to talk to you chief, then your platoon sergeant, then your first sergeant, then you can talk to your commander. This may seem like a lot of work. But in all actuality if the problem that you have is able to be fixed beforehand, then it was all worth the work. For Fanon, in the process of decolonization, violence liberates the consciousness of the oppressed people by erasing their inferiority complex: At the level of individuals, violence is a cleansing force. It frees the native from his inferiority complex and from his despair and inaction; it makes him fearless and restores his self respect. • 41. Evolution Of The Grand Canyon National Park The evolution of the Grand Canyon National Park has been one of the marvels of the world to which many researchers had dedicated substantial amount of controversial studies in attempt to accurately estimate the origin of the canyons and caves/gorges ages and Colorado Plateau current attained mean elevation of nearly horizontal sedimentary rocks based on numerous scientific interpretation of new research data without consideration of a slew of prior geologic data sets that confused geologists many generations ago. It is widely believed in the industry that weather element and volcanism during the ice ages (Cenozoic period) raised the amount of water in the Colorado River drainage system which increased the speed of the Colorado river and its active tributaries and its ability to cut through rocks many years ago, steepened the river (tributaries) gradient attributed to the uplift of the Colorado Plateau sitting near at sea level and the great depth of the Grand Canyon (Flowers, 2010). Additionally, increased differential erosion rate billions of years ago, exposed major geologic rock structures by cutting almost all the terraced walls of the current Grand Canyons created in part by volcanic activity that deposited lava and ashes across the area which completely obstructed the Colorado river system. • 42. The Dutchman By Leroi Jones Race and Racism Race and racism have been around since mankind made its first steps on the planet and it has brought upon violence, submissiveness, cruelty, and sexism into the world. A great representation of these themes and issues was brought by LeRoi Jones, who wrote The Dutchman . The play itself is a great representation of the relationships of races in America during the 60 s and can even been connected to today s society. The Dutchman mainly focuses on the black white relationship but can also be drawn to other cultures and races. I, myself, can also relate to what LeRoi Jones wrote in one way or another. Being a different culture and not being accepted was the first façade of America that I got ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clay actually does recognize what has happened to him and even tells her that he could kill her and the rest of the white people on the train. Clay makes it clear to Lola that the white oppression will eventually backfire on the white race because blacks will not take it anymore. Lula then decides that the only way she can silence him is by murdering him and that is exactly what she does. The white Lula is a thirty year old femme female who alternately seduces and insults Clay as she engages in a variety of conversations with him on the train. Lula is the representation of the Western Civilization and she seems to be trapped by her own cultural identity. Lula is able to provide a curtain because no one is supposed to sense her real intentions and her eagerness to move on to her next victim. She is simply made to destroy. She can t abide the brutal honesty of Clay s final speech, in which he is finally truthful about his fate and his will to change it. Clay represents the everyday black man and can be compared to Adam. Lula personifies white dominance and the resent for the lack of black assimilation to the white culture. You can draw a connection to Adam and Eve because Lula seduces Clay sexually with an Apple. • 43. Discussion Group Discussion Questions 1. a) The class is in a productive zone when every individual is contributing to the discussion. Prevalent silence is a sign that we aren t being productive, but the discussion must also be meaningful rather than just filling the silence. For me personally, I need to make sure to pick the times when my input is most insightful to speak up, as well as trying to reach out to the people who are quiet. My level of heat started out too high and went down to a manageable amount where I don t feel nearly as afraid to contribute. The class as a whole tends a little on the cold side, and that seems mostly due to fear of heat. It s not that people don t want to contribute, it s that they re afraid of saying something stupid or meaningless. b) Success would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 45. The Role Of Liberal Values At The International Level 4. By using its influence to diminish the role of liberal values at the international level As China is becoming a global power today, China s views on liberal values are gaining a greater share in the global marketplace of ideas negatively affects America s national interests, since its growing power and the example of its development could have considerable ideological influence upon other countries. China s economic rising power has deflected international criticism of its records of democratization and human rights. Human rights issues have indeed been given less importance during high level official visits. Today, the U.S. president seldom directly demands the release of Chinese political and religious dissidents. Under such circumstance, the United States and China are competing directly for impact upon shaping the international rules and norms. China has been highly supporting recent initiatives such as the G20, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the New Development Bank of the BRICS countries, and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, in which Western governments play a significantly smaller role than in longer existing institutions, such as WTO, NATO, etc. In addition to that, as I have argued before, although China does not fight against liberal democracy with a counter ideology, it does approach the potential norm of promoting liberal democratic values with the norm of international diversity. The concept of international diversity is that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Impact Of Federal Funds On The Workforce Will Affect... Intro As my parents discuss the need to continue working several more years until retirement, I have thought about how their continuation in the workforce will affect me after graduation. Are there going to be less job opportunities available for the newly graduated because people like my parents intend to work until they are 70? Also why do they believe they need to work until they are 70? Is the low Federal Funds Rate, which sets the tone for other interest rates, impacting their retirement savings? It is in hope of seeking answers to the questions I raised above that I selected to research the impact the federal funds rate has on the economy and weather the continued low rate needs to be increased. Research The Federal Funds Rate is arguably the most important interest rate in the world as it sets the tone in the market. This is the overnight interest rate used when banks borrow money from other banks or from the Federal Reserve. (Miller, 2016) If they do not have enough on hand to lend out, the Federal Reserve would be a place where banks can borrow money overnight. The rate is a tool used by the Fed to control the supply of available money therefore controlling inflation and other interest rates. (Fed Funds Rate: Definition, Impact and How it Works, n.d.) The higher the rate the more it costs to borrow money which lowers the supply of money. The lower the rate the less it costs to borrow which increases the supply of money. • 47. Essay on Joan of Arc Joan of Arc The effect of Joan of Arc can be best understood and explained by looking at some of the events surrounding her birth and childhood. She was born in the later half of the Hundred Years War. The war was between France and England, which began over the land and control of Aquitaine, located in the southern part of France. Both countries had made legitimate claims of the land, but the dispute was unresolved and war was declared. The war was mainly fought in France and by 1429, England had gained a great portion of France. Joan also entered the world at a time that there was a lot of turmoil not only in her country but also within the church. At this time the Christian theology was not catering enough to the nobility or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However she did not leave the town and was very persistent with Baudricourt. Baudricourt noticed her persistency and it gradually made an impression on him. After she predicted the defeat of the French army outside of Orleans, her cause began to gain ground. She finally went to see the king with three escorts. She dressed in man s clothing, probably to protect her modesty in the rough terrain of the military camp, and on March 6 she reached Chinon. Two days later she was admitted to see the King Charles VII. To test her, he disguised himself in the crowd as a regular person, but she saluted him immediately. The king had her sent to be examined by doctors and bishops, they found nothing wrong with her or heretic about her speech. She then returned to Chinon where Charles VII gave her a sword, which she refused and asked for the one that she said was buried behind the altar in the chapel of Ste Catherine de Fierbois. Charles VII did what she asked and sent people to look for this sword; it was found in the very spot she had indicated. She was then ready for war however; Joan told Sire de Rotslaer that she would save Orleans. She told him how she would be wounded in the chest, but it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Investment Analysis of Stock Offerings of British Petroleum From: Investment analysis team To: Potential Investor Subject: Investment Analysis of Stock Offerings of British Petroleum BP s stock offering, which is part of the government s decentralization plan, has come at a time when markets are still feeling the aftermath of what has been the biggest one day drop in history. This has caused detrimental effects on the market which is felt by most, if not all companies. What could have been an attractive offer has turned sour as BP s stock price dipped dramatically. Upon analysing this fund raising issuance along with the current market environment, we have concluded that this offering is not as valuable despite the addition of the repurchase plan (put option) after the first payment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of having the customers pay 1.2 on the first date and 1.05 each on the second and third payment dates, a payment scheme of 1 on October 1987 and 1.15 on August 1988 and April 1989 will make the BP stock offering a better one. Values higher than the payment amounts are what we need since it will allow investors to have payoffs regardless of the movements of the stock price. Compared with the value in Annex 4, the payoff in this recommendation is 0.03648, compared to simply changing the put price, which yields a payoff of 0.00003. If this payment scheme is applied, the breakeven price for the option strike price significantly decreases to around 0.6338. Combining these two changes together, the investment becomes more valuable. Our computations show a payoff of 0.1459 when the strike price is 0.85 and changing the payment scheme to 1.0 on October 1987 and 1.15 each on August 1988 and April 1989. To sum everything up, this stock offering is not a good investment on its current terms. The repurchase plan may have given the issuance a little boost but it really hasn t given enough to make BP s stock offering beneficial to the investor. However, should management decide to change the factors such as the stock price ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
