Biography of Gustav Mahler
To Sibelius, Mahler expressed the belief that The symphony must be like the world. It must embrace
everything. Biography Gustav Mahler, a late Romantic Austrian composer, was born on July 7th, 1860
in what was then the Austro Hungarian Empire, now Kaliště in the Czech Republic. The region where
Mahler spent his youth was strongly associated with the Czech independence movement. Being a Jew,
Mahler had developed an everlasting sense of exile, illustrated by his famous quote I am thrice
homeless, as a native of Bohemia in Austria, as an Austrian among Germans, and as a Jew throughout
the world. Everywhere an intruder never welcomed. Mahler was considered by the public to be a great
conductor with symphonies which were too long for their liking, while Mahler viewed himself as a
composer, forced to spend most of his years conducting. His status as a conductor was unquestionably
established, while his own pieces started to gain momentum after periods of immense neglect, which
included a ban on their performance in a good deal of Europe throughout the Nazi era. As a composer,
Mahler acted as a bridge between the 19th century Austro German tradition and the modernism of the
early 20th century. Mahler is well known for his lengthy, deep, and painfully emotional works. He
adored nature and all life within it, but due to his early exposure to the darkness life brings, a suicide
and a brutal rape he witnessed, Mahler feared death. This duality is evident in just about all his

My Teaching Strategy For Students
As I look over my teaching, I do notice many weaknesses, but I do notice some strengths as well.
Even though I gave the students clear instructions, I believe that I should have done the I do, We do,
You do strategy with them to compute the prices, discounts, and markups in the introduction activity. I
also feel that this whole activity, along with the implementation of the I do, We do, You do teaching
strategy, really would have been more effective for the students. I had assumed that their previous
class would have provided them with enough experience to allow them to compute discounts by
themselves, but I do recognize that they needed even more practice with the teacher. One strength that
I do recognize is that I had good voice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I rank my timeliness as something that needs major improvement. If this problem was improved, I
could have more opportunities to assess my students and give them prompt feedback as well. I could
fix this problem by making my activities more simple and shorter, and providing early finishers with
more challenging work depending on their capabilities. For students that finish their work early but
need more remediation, I could pull them to the side and provide one on one instruction to correct
misunderstanding right then.
Examining my teaching, I notice that I was lacking in cooperation among my students. I did ask my
students a few higher order thinking questions, but I monopolized the introduction activity with my
verbal instructions. I did not allow the students to explain how they would go about finishing the task
that I assigned to them. I was more like a dictator rather than letting the students explore and explain
their understanding of the task that I prompted them to complete. Without student cooperation, I am
not aware of what misunderstandings my students have. Additionally, if student cooperation is
lacking, my students could get easily bored and it will be harder to get them back into a learning
mode. Also, I feel that students need to take control of their own learning, and this can be completed
with student cooperation. If I had provided more opportunities for my students to communicate their
understanding, I

The Disagreements Over the Health Effects of Probiotics Essay
Since the year 1965, the term probiotics has been used. Lilly and Stillwell were the first to describe
probiotics as substances secreted by one organism, which stimulated growth of other organisms
(Gupta, 2009). It was however, Elie Metchnikoff in the 1900s who first suggested that there were
health properties in lactic acid bacteria from fermented food products (Anukam, 2007). Since then, the
meaning has undergone some changes, one of the most recent definitions is that probiotics are
beneficial live microorganisms, which must be consumed in a sufficient amount for the desired health
effect (Guarner, 1998). The Food and Agriculture Organisation/World Health Organisation has
adopted this definition but there are many other organisations ... Show more content on

Therefore the bacterium ability to tolerate different pH levels is a crucial factor in determining their
probiotic use. Ability to attach to the gut epithelial cells and adequate production of antimicrobial
substances are also other important properties of probiotics (Granato, 2010). In terms of commercial
use and manufacturing, probiotics must be resilient and maintain cell viability during periods of
processing, packaging and storage (Saarela, 2009).
The number food companies that are now using strains of Lactic acid bacteria and Bifidobacteria in
their food products has increased considerably and it is now diary probiotic products that are making
between 60% 70% of the functional food market (Mohammadi, 2012). Fermented milk and yogurt
beverages are the main source of probiotics in supermarkets but there are also capsule and powder
formations in addition. The popularity of these products has increased due to the number of
documented benefits of consuming probiotic bacteria and support from media and marketing.
The documented health and nutritional benefits from consumption of probiotic food products show
alleviating gastrointestinal problems and many other health benefits (Granato, 2010). Various
randomised controlled trials have shown that in children with acute diarrhoea, probiotics has reduced
the duration of diarrhoea by reducing stool frequency. It has shown to be a safe intervention however

Quick Facts About Child Labor
Introduction There are many teens who want to make a difference, make a change. Teen activist are

Old Spice Masculinity
On the notion of Masculinity in The Man Your Man Could Smell Like
Old Spice s 2010 Commercial The Man Your Man Could Smell Like paints a truly unique image of
masculinity. On the one hand, the ad s uninterrupted shot and the actor s nonchalant demeanor and wit
leave us in awe. On the other hand, though, it also begs its viewers to sit back and reflect: Wait...what
did I just see? The ad markets Old Spice deodorants to female as well as male audiences by directly
associating them with the idea of hyper masculinity, insinuating that men who use Old Spice
deodorants possess the capability to accomplish virtually anything. For instance, the Old Spice Man is
depicted on a boat, possessing diamonds, and riding a horse (Old Spice). While the comical ... Show

One can arguably claim that the expedients through which masculinity is portrayed in the video the
possession of diamonds, an abundance of wealth, an attractive physique are perhaps some of the
extreme yet most commonly cited characteristics of masculinity in society. They are the set of actions
with which we associate masculinity. Thus, the ad seems to capitalize upon these characteristics in its
depiction of masculinity: the Old Spice Man is well endowed with all of these characteristics he is the
alpha male. However, the ad targets only a few ideas associated with masculinity, thus essentializing
its performance of masculinity to merely a set of certain hyper masculine characteristics. This enables
us to see the essentially performative nature of masculinity, and explains the ad s ridiculous

Thematic Analysis Of Photography
A systematic examination of photographs can reveal many insights into the individual taking the
picture. For example, Dijck (2008) explains that picture taking has been widely used as a way for
people to save memories of events, a tool for communication and experience, and more recently, as a
tool for identity development. For example, in the 20th century, people used photography to save
memories to remember their lives (Dijck,2008). As time moved forward it evolved into using
photography to communicate with others by sharing their experiences with social media. By using
social media like Twitter for example, people share different types of pictures from selfies, to video
game screenshots, to a photograph of a new jacket; which occurs not just in the United States but, all
over the world (Thelwall, Goriunvova, Vis, Faulkner, Burns, Aulich, Mas Bleda, ... Show more

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Standardization Of Language
Talking about dialects , a term often mentioned along is standard language . When being brought into
comparison with dialect , standard language usually serves as a legitimate variant with the highest
level of excellence (Bex Watts, 1999). Though positive in nature, standardization the procedure of
standardizing a language often raises heated controversy because of its consequences on not only
linguistics field but also the society. In the second part of the essay, I will focus on the disadvantages
of language standardization.
Language standardization is the process of developing a standard for both written and oral language. It
occurs in a specific manner that depends on the community with the social, historical and geographic
aspects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Non standard dialects are regarded with contempt, mistreated as improper forms of a language.
Linguists and researchers reported that speakers of minor varieties seem to form negative attitudes
towards their culture, rating their own varieties badly and lacking respect for them (Lambert et al.,
1960; Genesee Holobow, 1989, as cited in Campbell Kibler, 2011). With the fear of being prejudged,
speakers of other dialects begin to feel inferior about their vernacular dialect and start to use the
variety with higher status when they are surrounded by outsiders and they would employ their dialect
again only if they are with their tribes (Petyt,

The Theme Of Family In Frankenstein
The story of Frankenstein is one that focuses mainly on the idea of losing touch with the reality of
what is family and love whilst in the pursuit of knowledge. This can initially be experienced in the
beginning of the novel in the letters Walton sends to his sister Margaret Saville. In this case, Walton,
in search of a passage to the Pacific, risks his life without much regard for how his sister may feel.
During his voyage Walton eventually gets into a situation, being trapped in the ice, that jeopardizes
not only his main objective to find the passage, but the relationships he has at home, specifically his
sister. Much like Walton, Victor comes upon a fascination of his own, the natural world. This
fascination, rather an obsession, is the beginning of the end for Victor as it begins to alienate the
character from his loved ones. These types of obsessions can lead someone to lose touch with the
importance of family since they no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By this I mean that at the beginning, much like Walton and Victor, the monster had high hopes of
finding what he truly desired and later found that it was much harder achieved and that things would
not work out quite as planned. This is intriguing because it seems to be one of the central points of the
story, which is that in search of something we truly desire, whether it be adventurous, scientific, or
emotional in nature, can be detrimental to the relationship of family even if it is a family you are
looking for. For example, in the case of the monster, the way in which he reacted in hopes of
potentially getting Victor to create him a mate led Victor to believe that it would be trouble to create a
partner for him. This, in a sense, is what took away the possibility of the monster ever finding either
another creation or human being to

The Disease Of Parkinson s Disease
Abstract
Parkinson s disease has been cataloged as one of the most serious and slowly progressive
neurodegenerative disease that affects a wide array of motor and non motor aspects that impact the
function of a person. Afflicting over four million Americans and the second most common
neurological disorder after Alzheimer s disease, Parkinson s continues to take its toll on the
neurological health of many(Constantinescu et al, 2007 ). James Parkinson, a British physician first
coined this disorder as shaky palsy in 1817 and included clinical manifestations of this disease
involving tremors with muscle weakness, bradycardia, rigidity, unstable posture, and gait abnormality
that becomes worse over time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a clinical diagnosis standpoint, Parkinson s is solely dependent on the physical symptoms that
have been caused by the deficiency of dopamine because of the lack of neuron cells in the substantia
nigra. Without high end laboratory maneuvers and MRIs of the brain, Parkinson s can already be
diagnosed just by observing the physicality of the patient. MRIs are usually used to rule out any other
disorder that could also present the same symptoms as Parkinson s. The primary symptoms in regards
to this disease include akinesia, or loss or impairment of voluntary movements, bradykinesia, or slow
movement, trembling in hands, arms head, and legs, stiffness in the trunk portion of the body and
muscle flexors of the limbs, and unstable posture affecting balance. Parkinson s is chronic and slow
progressive and over time patients will begin to experience difficulty in normal tasks such as walking,
talking, and other day to day activities (NINDS, 2013).
Despite the difficult symptoms that a patient might face, Parkinson s disease has been deemed
idiopathic, meaning that no cause has been found for it. Unlike an airborne or sexual disease,
Parkinson s is not transmittable. Scientists have linked some cases of Parkinson s disease to be
traceable through certain genetic mutations, but others have been

The Story Of Electricity Is Told By Al Khalili Essay
The Story of Electricity is told by Al Khalili, a British theoretical physicist, and begins the three part
TV program with the Spark or dawn of human knowledge of electricity, showcasing the simple and
primitive experiments. Leading next, the second part of the program goes over 18th and 19th centuries
and how many scientists and physicists harnessed the power of electricity and magnetism and created
practical devices and how these devices complete transformed the way people lived and continues to
do so today. In the third episode, Khalili finishes up the story with how what we applied what we have
learned in the past 200 years to connect the world with electricity via networks and broadcasting. He
explains that our era is defined by electricity, and how our understanding of electricity is proportional
to our reliance upon it. The first episode starts us off with Isaac Newton and Francis Hauksbee in the
Royal Society and the experiments they created. One of the first experiments regarding electricity
involved a spinning glass hollow sphere vacuum. In a dark room, as the glass span, Hauksbee placed
his hand very near the surface without touching it, and light emitted from inside the glass. This
experiment was groundbreaking since it was the first time mankind had seemingly created a power
reserved to the All Mighty. Even though this discovery was groundbreaking, its practicality was nearly
nil. Conjurors and street magicians called themselves electricians and

The United States As A Christian Nation
Was the United States Founded as a Christian Nation? Have you ever wondered why people in the
American society think any kind of demonstrated behavior is acceptable? The Christian views once
instilled in United States citizens have grown sparse today, in comparison to what they once were.
Opinions of many people have changed concerning multiple issues. Many founding views were
centered on Godly principles as portrayed in the U.S. Constitution, and as well as the Declaration of
Independence. As society continues to argue over the inclusion of religion in politics, members of
society reap the effects in many areas, particularly in the education system. I strongly agree that the
United States was founded as a Christian nation. Religion has been a large part of this country, starting
with the very first people to arrive in America, the Pilgrims. Breaking away from the Church of
England, the Pilgrims settled in what is now known as Massachusetts in 1620, in order to express
religious freedom. They wanted to practice Christian beliefs similar to ones practiced by earlier
Christians. Based on the views of the founding people of America, many would claim this as support
that America was founded as a Christian nation. Fast forward to the late 1700 s, where both the
Declaration of Independence and The United States Constitution had been written. These documents
both showed signs of a Christian foundation with multiple references to God. As stated in the
Declaration, [They] hold

Chaucer s Canterbury Tales: The General Prologue portrays the newly formed social division in
Medieval England by having people from the noble, gentry, church, and working social groups come
together on a journey to the Canterbury Chapel. A modern day American version of this poem would
also include a diverse group of people. The nobility in The Canterbury Tales is represented by the
knight, which Chaucer describes as loving, trouthe and honour, freedom and curteisye (46). Since the
knight is a worthy defender and protector of the people, the modern day equivalent would be our
country s police officers and military. For higher ranking nobility, American ... Show more content on

During the fourteenth century, the control of the church weakened, and the church officials were no
longer seen as nobility. Despite being poor, the parson in The Canterbury Tales displayed a
hardworking and caring demeanor. Chaucer further explains the parson s character by mentioning, that
first he wroughte, and afterward he taught (499). The parson s involvement in society can be mirrored
by not only modern day preachers and church leaders, but by teachers as well. Teachers take the
knowledge from their education and convey this wisdom onto students, much like the parson. The
qualities of today s working class can be seen through Chaucer s depiction of the plowman. Indicating
the importance and humility of the plowman s work, Chaucer establishes his significance in society.
Our farmers, factory workers, and construction workers show the same persistent work ethic as the
plowman, which exemplifies that they are the foundation of the American society. Where class and
social status does not determine acceptability, the Canterbury Chapel is common ground for all the
pilgrims to pray and make what they want out of the experience. A

Leadership Is A Contact Sport
Group Summary_Forum10
Introduction
Leadership is a contact sport. As with any sport skills, best practices, and preparation are on constant
display for both teammates and competitors to see. Leaders must hone specific characteristics and
traits that give them the ability to earn the respect of those who would follow. In this paper the traits of
courage, integrity, and growth will be expressed as important concepts in the development and
maintenance of a leader.
Group Consensus
The three topics chosen were all considered important to the group members. With courage and
integrity the two traits tend to go hand in hand. A leader with integrity will gain the trust of his or her
followership while courage will inspire them and lead change. Dees describes the concepts of integrity
and courage an essence of leadership and a unifying factor in all aspects of a leader s life. (Dees,
2013) The third concept of growth and learning express the maintenance a leader must exemplify in
their own personal journey. With growth and learning practices and techniques that provide a strategy
for this maintenance.

One of the best and more efficient ways of achieving these is the teamwork. Staff of the organization
should have certain skills and abilities of acting within a team. Works on continuous improvement are
primarily organized and conducted in groups. While working as a team employees achieve the effect
in which the total output of the team substantially exceed the results of the individual performers.
The training should provide an understanding of people accountable for meeting the largest, the most
positive changes to which they are capable, sum up to the idea that most people want to do their job
well, be proud of their work, can share valuable ideas and not be afraid of the responsibility. People
must be prepared for this new role, they should be given the opportunity to experience the success,
and they should also be supported and encouraged. As a result of training the company should create a
culture in which employees understand what behavior is expected of them and they do not need
specific instructions about what to do in each situation.
According to the new model of business management which is based on the quality, but not on the
quantity, companies should provide their employees with training which enable them to have enough
knowledge necessary for the team work, collection and

Some control of blackberry and watsonia was achieved with assistance from Environmental
Management students from Joondalup TAFE in September 1999, shortly before a hot fire burnt the
area on 15th December 1999. Follow up control by staff from the Department s Perth Hills District on
resprouting and germinating weeds has been ongoing, and to date, control of blackberry and watsonia
is having a marked effect, and weed numbers are in decline.
A fence was erected around the habitat of Population 1a in early 2000. This has served to prevent
trampling of the area while the vegetation re establishes after the fire. Regeneration has been good,
with some native species emerging that were not evident prior to the 1999 fire.
Seed was collected in December 1998 and 1999 from the wild population, and approximately 2700
seeds are now stored in the Department s Threatened Flora Seed Centre (TFSC) at 18C. The 1999
collection was made immediately prior to the wildfire. The TFSC tests viability of the seed initially,
after one year in storage and again after five years. The initial viability of these collections ranged
from 84% to 97%. After one year in storage the germination rate ranged from 11% to 75%

Whiteness In The Bluest Eye
Whiteness manifests itself in The Bluest Eye as a symbol of desire or the standard of beauty. Symbols
like Shirley Temple and blue eyes reflect society s social acceptability. Likewise, this negatively
effects characters like Pecola who then internalizes whiteness as beauty and her own complexion as
ugly similar to the doll test . Pecola is also cursed out of Geraldine s home because of her complexion
while she reinforces whiteness as this standard of beauty that is unrealistically obtainable for Pecola
and her self worth.
Sula s depiction of whiteness manifests itself as antagonism to blackness. By this I mean that unlike
The Bluest Eye, whiteness is not the standard of beauty, but rather, the opposing force to the Bottom s

Democracy In America, By Alexis De Tocqueville
In Democracy in America, written by Alexis De Tocqueville, numerous notions of threats claim to be
dangerous to the relatively new democratic government of the United States. Yet, one threat endangers
the democratic system of government the most, which is the tyranny of the majority. The American
democracy is one that contains many great freedoms, including equality amongst all people. Citizens
have the freedom to form their own opinions and say anything they want, regardless of what others
think. Therefore, why does Tocqueville stress that the tyranny of the majority and how could this
overthrow America s democratic government? Tocqueville stresses the equality of every citizen s
opinion, which therefore asserts that nobody has a better opinion than someone else. The only opinion
that seems to have any impact is that of the majority, because why would the opinion of the minority
be better than the majority? Tocqueville claims that the people will always favor the majority, which
in turn will lead to a tyranny of that majority. The tyranny of majority occurs through popular opinion,
no true freedom of thought, and powerful legislative politicians who only create laws to please the
majority. However, there are a few factors that mitigate this tyranny, including a decentralized
administration of the majority, lawyers and their power within the judiciary branch, and how the
power of a jury teaches citizens their freedoms. Tocqueville displays the tyranny of the majority as a

Moral Constraints In Macbeth
Approximately 410 years ago, a man by the name of William Shakespeare began indulging in one of
his most famous dramas The Tragedy of Macbeth, set in Scotland, the play dramatizes the damaging
physical and psychological effects of political ambition on those who seek power for their own sake.
Shakespeare wrote this drama for King James I because he finances most of Shakespeare s dramas,
enjoys watching the dramas performed, and believes to be a descendant of Banquo. Most of
Shakespeare s dramas have skyrocketing plots that end in a surprising, yet well deserving brutal death.
Even though the plots intrigue the audience, the supernatural mysteries of the drama makes
Shakespeare s work something to remember. This drama is Shakespeare s shortest tragedy, and tells
the story of a brave Scottish general named Macbeth who receives a prophecy from a trio of witches
that one day he will become King of Scotland. So when moral constraints go rampant because of

Why Fear Plays From The World Of Bull Riding Or Motorcycle...
The mental game; every athlete must play the mental game and it s especially prevalent within the
world of bull riding or motorcycle racing. When I ponder my days of riding bulls (for a short period)
and now racing motorcycles, the one key emotion that sticks out like a broken bone from an arm after
a bad crash is most certainly fear. With these two sports, fear is the prevailing emotion that the athletes
feed off of and at times, attempt to suppress and control. It s key to understand why fear plays such a
major role when looking at these sports objectively. Think about what might happen. The
repercussions range from some bruises and broken bones to death and permanent disfigurement. So it
is very natural for the athlete to have to deal with the fear of what might go wrong . There are
countless times that when it came time for me to slide onto my bull, fear would completely
overwhelm me. I was not just forced, but completely pushed into a middle state of panic. All of a
sudden my vision narrowed, my breathing became very quick and my pulse could be felt in my
temples; racing well over 100 beats per minute. Because of this reaction to fear I usually walked away
defeated because I was unable function; I was frozen. It must be understood that fear is a very natural
reaction as the human brain tends to want to preserve itself. However, fear can often hold athletes like
bull riders or motorcycle races back because we forget the task at hand: doing the very best we

Persuasive Essay About Surfing
Surfing isn t easy, but it is very exciting and addicting. If you are someone who likes non contact
sports, and enjoys being outside, this is the sport for you. Unlike a lot of other sports, you are hot and
sweaty in a gym, however surfing in the ocean makes you feel cool on a hot day. If you are a beginner,
it may be very challenging to catch a wave. It is recommended to use a soft foam board. These boards
are lightweight, don t require wax, and easy to get up and stand on. Before you decide to get in water,
you need to make sure that you find the right spot with just enough waves. I would not recommend
going into an area with very big waves because surfing as a beginner, it would be very overwhelming.
As a beginner, when catching a wave, you want to be waist deep and in an area where the waves have
already broken. At this spot, you can practice standing up. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

out more into the ocean. As a beginner, it may be hard to get past the impact zone because it would

good wave. When you see a good enough wave coming your way, you need to lay back down on your
stomach and start paddling immediately, and very fast. Once the wave is about to break, very quickly,
hop up onto your feet and keep them planted, your knees bent, and your eyes toward where you want
to go. It is very important to be patient. You will not become an amazing surfing in one day. I would

common way of referring to a person who is disgruntled and about to go off on the supervisor or other

1990s, after several mass killings in the workplace by disgruntled postal workers. There is no doubt,

The Emergence of Surf Music Essays
The Emergence of Surf Music
Many different music styles emerged during the early 1960 s. One of these music styles that was
perhaps the most prominent music style to ever come out of Southern California was Surf Music. Surf
music was a short lived phenomenon that occurred from 1961 to 1965 (Nostalgia, 2002). Along with
the surf music craze, Hollywood also started producing numerous movies about surfing, including
Gidget, and Endless Summer (St. James Encyclopedia, 2003 and Nostalgia, 2002). These movies had
some amazing soundtracks that helped popularize the surf music phenomenon. There are two different
forms of surf music; instrumental and vocal (Holm, 1998 and St. James Encyclopedia, 2003). ... Show

The Lady With The Dog Short Story
Title: He Looks So Good in Love
The story of The Lady with the Dog was written by Anton Chekhov. This is a short story about two
unhappily married people and the challenges they must overcome when they fall in love with one
another. Chekhov s central idea in this short story is that love is an intense force that has the ability to
improve a person purely because they love another person. Chekhov conveys this idea not through
words but his use of beautifully detailed descriptions of the physical setting throughout each scene in
the story. His use of symbolism when writing about the weather and scenery helps the reader
understands what is going through Dimitri s mind each very moment. This part of the story is told by

Chekhov uses the weather in this scene in many ways, he begins the scene by stating it was sultry
indoors he uses the word sultry and indoors to imply that being closed inside with Anna was causing
sexual desires in Dimitri revealing that there was a great deal of sexual tension between the two of
them. He continues to describe the setting by discussing the wind and the way it was moving. The
wind symbolizes the change that has begun in Dimitri. How this affair was different from the many
others he had before. Dimitri felt different about Anna his feelings were more pure and stronger than
he had ever felt for any other woman. The movement of the wind is describing how Dimitri s who
normally had control of himself had now found that he unable to control these new found emotions for
Anna. Chekhov further describes the wind blowing peoples hats off showing the reader just how out
of control these emotions really are. Dimitri s feelings for Anna were not ones that he welcomed just
like one does not enjoy there hat being blown off their head. Dimitri is surly losing control of his own
emotions in this scene and this was very new to the womanizer who looked down on woman. Dimitri s
level of discomfort rises as Chekhov describes the day as parching showing the reader that Dimitri is
unable to swallow due to his awkwardness in this situation and by ending the

Let Down Song Analysis
There are many different ways for a song to be effective. For many people, it s a catchy melody and
relatable lyrics. For others, it s complex instrumentation and clever songwriting. Still others prefer
deep lyrics they can dig into and analyze. On all of these fronts, Let Down passes with flying colors.
But what makes Let Down such an effective song for me is how well it can put feelings into words
and sounds, and its ability to completely accept the meaninglessness of life, while at the same time
proclaiming the joy of living life. The song accomplishes this through its use of intricate rhythm,
beautiful melody and instrumentation, and thoughtful lyrics.
The song opens with a beautiful, melancholic guitar melody, setting the tone for ... Show more content

In the end, Let Down truly shines because of its intricate rhythm, melody, and amazing
instrumentation and lyrics.
The harmony is simple yet effective, acting as a canvas for the melody, instrumentation, and lyrics to
flourish from. It starts on its key center, A major, a common and comfortable place for a song to start
on. It then moves to E major, a chord that feels unsettled for songs in the key of A major, and is
commonly used to set up a feeling of tension in songs. Then it moves to F# minor, giving the song a
somewhat somber, yet still fundamentally happy feeling. Afterwards, it moves back to the unresolved
E major, to then resolve back to the tonic (the song s key center), A major. An unresolved chord doesn
t feel quite at place in a song, and wants to find closure by pivoting back to the song s key center. This
progression isn t anything special, but it does offer a strong building block for the other elements of
the song to be built on. This pattern repeats through the verses.
Instrumentally, the song takes inspiration from Phil Spector s Wall of Sound technique.1 Through this
dense, multi layered arrangement and production, the electric piano, drums, bass, acoustic guitar, and
electric guitar all work together to create one thick, powerful sound. This helps the song gain a sense
of resolve in the face of its poignant lyrics.

Palm Oil Growth And Sustainability
Palm Oil Growth in Peru Slows as Land Suitability and Sustainability Take Top Priority
Palm is a tree crop suited to cultivation in climatic conditions similar to those of the tropical
rainforest. From 1999 to 2009, global production more than doubled. Thirty years ago, palm oil
accounted for less than 2 percent but now accounts for 37 percent of vegetable oil consumption
worldwide, and palm has displaced soy as the world s most important vegetable oil. Palm oil is used
as a biofuel, for cooking, and in a wide range of other items, including food products, cosmetics, soaps
and detergents.
Malaysia and Indonesia produce 85 percent of the world s palm oil. Expansion in these two countries
is expected to diminish by 2022, however, as land suitable for additional palm oil production
dwindles. As an alternative, developers are looking to other regions for expansion, including Latin
America. Estimates suggest that Peru has the second largest area potentially suitable for increased oil
palm production within this region.
Area Expansion
In 2003, the Peruvian government announced that the production of biofuels, including palm oil,
would be a priority. Before 2006, palm expansion in Peru was slow and occurred mainly on already
cleared land (mostly pastures and secondary growth forests, as opposed to old growth forests.)
Between 2006 and 2010, however, area doubled, and about 70 percent of all new palm plantations
during this time were established by old growth clearing.

An Analysis Of John Cheever s The Swimmer
Snigdha Sama
Mrs. Hurtado
English I H
9 March 2016 A Tale of Riches to Rags in The Swimmer The character and intelligence of a person is
truly shown when he or she is forced to face reality. This is clearly established in The Swimmer , a
story about a man thrown off his high horse. The story starts with Neddy Merrill and his group of
wealthy socialites conversing at the Westerhazys house. Flashing back to his Olympic days, Neddy
decides to swim through bodies of water to reach his house. He calls this trail the Lucinda River and
with a lot of effort, as he isn t as fast as he was in his prime years, he reaches his house, only to find it
empty and devoid of his wife and daughters. John Cheever cleverly brings together a seemingly
random series of events and combines them. His writing style is best explained by his own words
when he says Fiction is art and art is the triumph over chaos. In his award winning short story, The
Swimmer , John Cheever uses symbolism, imagery, and characterization to establish a seemingly silly
and childish tone that evolves into a somber and realistic mood.
Symbolism is used a lot in the establishment of the mood. One way Cheever used symbolism in the
story was the change from dawn to dusk he shows in the tale. At the beginning of the story, Neddy
Merrill says It was a fine day. In the west there was a massive stand of cumulus cloud so like a city
seen from a distance from the bow of an approaching ship that it might have a

Dyeing Studies of Wool Fibers with Madder
In this study, the dyeing behavior of wool fabrics with madder has been studied. Also, the effect of
different mordants (potassium dichromate, stannous chloride, alum, ferrous sulphate, lime, copper (I,
II) sulphate, cobalt chloride, and nickel chloride) as well as three mordanting procedures namely pre ,
meta and post mordanting on color characteristics of the dyed samples has been investigated. The
adsorption isotherm of madder on wool fibers was found to follow Freundlich type of adsorption. The
addition of salt and acid (pH 4.5) to the dyebath resulted in an increase of adsorption. In relation to
mordanting tests, the use of different mordants and mordanting procedures gave various color
characteristics on dyed wool fabrics. The results showed that all the dyed samples, mordanted and
unmordanted, were in the first quadrant of CIEL*a*b* color space. Mordants such as potassium
dichromate, ferrous sulphate and copper (I, II) sulphate led to the darker and lower chromaticity
compared to unmordanted dyed sample while mordants stannous chloride, alum resulted in the lighter
and higher chromaticity values. Mordanting with the chlorides of cobalt and nickel showed the
minimal color difference (∆E) with the unmordanted dyed sample. The fastness properties indicated
that in general wash and light fastness of the mordanted samples were higher than the unmordanted
one.

Literary Analysis Of Emily Dickinson s Water Is Taught By...
Emily Dickinson is a well respected poet from the New England area. Although she was not
recognized during her lifetime, the close to 1,800 poems are well known to people who study
American Literature. One of her poems, Water, is Taught by Thirst , conveys the message of
appreciating what you have instead of waiting for it to disappear by taking a closer look at the poem
and evaluating the lines, people can connect to the message by looking at a few things they appreciate
in life.
By evaluating Water, is Taught by Thirst the reader can have a broader understanding of the theme,
appreciate what you have before they vanish before you realize it. Such as the second line, Dickinson
mentions land, by the oceans passed which I interpreted as the absence of land. This also means she
sees the land as a home, shelter, a place to rest and re energize. To her this is very dear, she loved to
stay isolated and frankly it is necessary to have somewhere to call home and relax the mind to let the
thoughts flow. Also in line 4, the writer talks about appreciating peace. Line 4 of the poem says Peace
by its battles told , I interpret this such as we miss and understand peace in the middle of battle, war,
conflict, and beef. Only during times of need does someone ever truly appreciate something.
In reflecting on my life and on the concept of appreciation, I can relate because of my appreciation for
the things I have in my life. One of the many things I appreciate is my little chihuahua, he is brown
with a hint of gold. His attitude is not always the best, like sometimes he will ignore me, but for the
most part he is obedient. He is practically family or even more than that. It s hard but it s as if he is an
extension or piece of me. Another thing I appreciate but can sometimes lose sight of is my parents,
they love me a lot and there are times I forget that they are human beings and they have their own
problems. I forget what they have been through, I remember the struggle they had to overcome just for
me to ask every day to borrow their car because mine was messed up. The amount of self sacrifice
they achieved is unfathomable.my parents will never let me go to work without money, even though I

Theme Of The Sea In The Awakening
In a Victorian society, women are often conformed to the idea that they are nothing more than property
to the men and carer of the children. Throughout The Awakening by Kate Chopin, much of the deeper
meaning in the story is revealed through a number of important symbols to symbolize the rebellious
behavior of Edna Pontellier, a girl who seeks the satisfaction of her own wants and needs. By doing
this Edna is going against the traditional role of women in a Victorian society. In the start of the novel,
Edna engages in her self discovery by becoming more independent and straying away from
conventions. Throughout the novel, Edna participates in rebellious actions such as moving out of her
house and affairs with other men. Towards the end of the novel, Edna feels as though the only way to
truly achieve freedom is by suicide. Edna s rebellious life is represented through symbolism which ...

In The Awakening, Kate Chopin uses the symbol, the sea, as a way to convey Edna s newly found
strength and empowerment. The sea both demonstrate the transformation of her body and
transformation of her mind. Edna s swiming experience transforms her body during her awakening by
overcoming her fears. Learning to swim is an important experience because it shows how she is now
able to gain control over her body. The statement, The voice of the sea speaks to the soul (Chopin 18),
is powerful due to the fact that it represents how Edna undergoes a dramatic change in character. In
order to express her innermost desires, she has to go from listening and acting upon the influences of
society, to following her own mind. The sea is also seen as a seductive voice that invit[es] the soul to
wander (Chopin 25). The sea and its limitless potential invites Edna deep into thought about life.
These play a large part in understanding Edna s personal transformation from a quiet and fearful girl
to an empowered and independent

Risk Assessments
Winn Dixie: Logistical risk assessments and their level of uncertainty I am the manager at Winn Dixie
Logistics. My organization is responsible for the management of six distribution warehouses located
in Baldwin, Jacksonville, Orlando and Miami, Florida; Hammond, Louisiana; and Montgomery,
Alabama. Our transportation experts oversee our supply chain and ensure that products are delivered
safely and on time to more than 480 stores throughout the Southeast. Timely and high quality delivery
is essential for the company to function. Food products are often very tricky to ship and the company
must meet both legal and company specific standards. For every potential order, a wide variety of
elements can go wrong, spanning from spoilage to damage to delays, all of which make the final
product unsuitable, resulting in potential losses for the company and disappointed customers. To
improve the chances of successful delivery, Winn Dixie has instituted the Case Integrity Standard for
evaluating all products, which means that all products on retail shelves must be flawless, all units
within the case must be flawless, and packaging must be without flaws and close to its original
condition (Winn Dixie Routing Guide, 2012, Winn Dixie:13). Damage to shipments is one of the first
risks that must be contended with: there must be a certain allowance for products that will not meet
the Case Integrity Standard when making orders. Common problems include past due dates, crushing,
leaking,

Drugs And Prescription Drug Abuse
To illustrate the magnitude of the research problem and provide a frame of reference, this section
begins with a brief overview of the increased use of pharmaceuticals and prescription drug abuse in
the US. The section continues with the relationship between illicit drugs and prescriptions, adolescents
abuse, personal and social factors; then concludes with the theoretical approach. The Social Ecological
Theory, will be applied in researching prescription drug abuse, possible influences and protective
factors in adolescents in relation to prescription drug abuse, to develop focused intervention strategies
and educational programs for this population, similar to other substances such as tobacco, alcohol, and
marijuana.
Pharmaceuticals
The utilization of prescription drugs has increased across all age groups in the US, with 50% of
Americans taking at least one prescription drug (Rice Unruh, 2016). This can be attributed to
physician induced demand, substitution of pharmaceuticals for other medical regimens,
commercialization of the products, increase in the aging population and drug insurance coverage, and
also the increase in chronic conditions. Lathan discusses the startling fact that the rate increase of
prescription drugs purchased was considerably higher in contrast to the US population growth 71%
and 9% respectively (Rice Unruh, 2016, p. 264).
The total spending on pharmaceuticals reported by CMS in 2014 was an astounding $263 billion (as
cited in Rice Unruh,

  • 2. Biography of Gustav Mahler To Sibelius, Mahler expressed the belief that The symphony must be like the world. It must embrace everything. Biography Gustav Mahler, a late Romantic Austrian composer, was born on July 7th, 1860 in what was then the Austro Hungarian Empire, now Kaliště in the Czech Republic. The region where Mahler spent his youth was strongly associated with the Czech independence movement. Being a Jew, Mahler had developed an everlasting sense of exile, illustrated by his famous quote I am thrice homeless, as a native of Bohemia in Austria, as an Austrian among Germans, and as a Jew throughout the world. Everywhere an intruder never welcomed. Mahler was considered by the public to be a great conductor with symphonies which were too long for their liking, while Mahler viewed himself as a composer, forced to spend most of his years conducting. His status as a conductor was unquestionably established, while his own pieces started to gain momentum after periods of immense neglect, which included a ban on their performance in a good deal of Europe throughout the Nazi era. As a composer, Mahler acted as a bridge between the 19th century Austro German tradition and the modernism of the early 20th century. Mahler is well known for his lengthy, deep, and painfully emotional works. He adored nature and all life within it, but due to his early exposure to the darkness life brings, a suicide and a brutal rape he witnessed, Mahler feared death. This duality is evident in just about all his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For students that finish their work early but need more remediation, I could pull them to the side and provide one on one instruction to correct misunderstanding right then. Examining my teaching, I notice that I was lacking in cooperation among my students. I did ask my students a few higher order thinking questions, but I monopolized the introduction activity with my verbal instructions. I did not allow the students to explain how they would go about finishing the task that I assigned to them. I was more like a dictator rather than letting the students explore and explain their understanding of the task that I prompted them to complete. Without student cooperation, I am not aware of what misunderstandings my students have. Additionally, if student cooperation is lacking, my students could get easily bored and it will be harder to get them back into a learning mode. • 4. The Disagreements Over the Health Effects of Probiotics Essay Since the year 1965, the term probiotics has been used. Lilly and Stillwell were the first to describe probiotics as substances secreted by one organism, which stimulated growth of other organisms (Gupta, 2009). It was however, Elie Metchnikoff in the 1900s who first suggested that there were health properties in lactic acid bacteria from fermented food products (Anukam, 2007). Since then, the meaning has undergone some changes, one of the most recent definitions is that probiotics are beneficial live microorganisms, which must be consumed in a sufficient amount for the desired health effect (Guarner, 1998). Therefore the bacterium ability to tolerate different pH levels is a crucial factor in determining their probiotic use. Ability to attach to the gut epithelial cells and adequate production of antimicrobial substances are also other important properties of probiotics (Granato, 2010). In terms of commercial use and manufacturing, probiotics must be resilient and maintain cell viability during periods of processing, packaging and storage (Saarela, 2009). The number food companies that are now using strains of Lactic acid bacteria and Bifidobacteria in their food products has increased considerably and it is now diary probiotic products that are making between 60% 70% of the functional food market (Mohammadi, 2012). Fermented milk and yogurt beverages are the main source of probiotics in supermarkets but there are also capsule and powder formations in addition. The popularity of these products has increased due to the number of documented benefits of consuming probiotic bacteria and support from media and marketing. The documented health and nutritional benefits from consumption of probiotic food products show alleviating gastrointestinal problems and many other health benefits (Granato, 2010). • 6. Old Spice Masculinity On the notion of Masculinity in The Man Your Man Could Smell Like Old Spice s 2010 Commercial The Man Your Man Could Smell Like paints a truly unique image of masculinity. On the one hand, the ad s uninterrupted shot and the actor s nonchalant demeanor and wit leave us in awe. On the other hand, though, it also begs its viewers to sit back and reflect: Wait...what did I just see? The ad markets Old Spice deodorants to female as well as male audiences by directly associating them with the idea of hyper masculinity, insinuating that men who use Old Spice deodorants possess the capability to accomplish virtually anything. For example, Dijck (2008) explains that picture taking has been widely used as a way for people to save memories of events, a tool for communication and experience, and more recently, as a tool for identity development. For example, in the 20th century, people used photography to save memories to remember their lives (Dijck,2008). As time moved forward it evolved into using photography to communicate with others by sharing their experiences with social media. In this case, Walton, in search of a passage to the Pacific, risks his life without much regard for how his sister may feel. For example, in the case of the monster, the way in which he reacted in hopes of potentially getting Victor to create him a mate led Victor to believe that it would be trouble to create a partner for him. Have you ever wondered why people in the American society think any kind of demonstrated behavior is acceptable? The Christian views once instilled in United States citizens have grown sparse today, in comparison to what they once were. Opinions of many people have changed concerning multiple issues. Many founding views were centered on Godly principles as portrayed in the U.S. Constitution, and as well as the Declaration of Independence. As society continues to argue over the inclusion of religion in politics, members of society reap the effects in many areas, particularly in the education system. I strongly agree that the United States was founded as a Christian nation. Religion has been a large part of this country, starting with the very first people to arrive in America, the Pilgrims. Breaking away from the Church of England, the Pilgrims settled in what is now known as Massachusetts in 1620, in order to express religious freedom. They wanted to practice Christian beliefs similar to ones practiced by earlier Christians. Based on the views of the founding people of America, many would claim this as support that America was founded as a Christian nation. Symbols like Shirley Temple and blue eyes reflect society s social acceptability. Pecola is also cursed out of Geraldine s home because of her complexion while she reinforces whiteness as this standard of beauty that is unrealistically obtainable for Pecola and her self worth. • 25. Democracy In America, By Alexis De Tocqueville In Democracy in America, written by Alexis De Tocqueville, numerous notions of threats claim to be dangerous to the relatively new democratic government of the United States. Yet, one threat endangers the democratic system of government the most, which is the tyranny of the majority. The American democracy is one that contains many great freedoms, including equality amongst all people. Citizens have the freedom to form their own opinions and say anything they want, regardless of what others think. Therefore, why does Tocqueville stress that the tyranny of the majority and how could this overthrow America s democratic government? Tocqueville stresses the equality of every citizen s opinion, which therefore asserts that nobody has a better opinion than someone else. The only opinion that seems to have any impact is that of the majority, because why would the opinion of the minority be better than the majority? Tocqueville claims that the people will always favor the majority, which in turn will lead to a tyranny of that majority. The tyranny of majority occurs through popular opinion, no true freedom of thought, and powerful legislative politicians who only create laws to please the majority. However, there are a few factors that mitigate this tyranny, including a decentralized administration of the majority, lawyers and their power within the judiciary branch, and how the power of a jury teaches citizens their freedoms. • 26. Moral Constraints In Macbeth Approximately 410 years ago, a man by the name of William Shakespeare began indulging in one of his most famous dramas The Tragedy of Macbeth, set in Scotland, the play dramatizes the damaging physical and psychological effects of political ambition on those who seek power for their own sake. Shakespeare wrote this drama for King James I because he finances most of Shakespeare s dramas, enjoys watching the dramas performed, and believes to be a descendant of Banquo. Most of Shakespeare s dramas have skyrocketing plots that end in a surprising, yet well deserving brutal death. Even though the plots intrigue the audience, the supernatural mysteries of the drama makes Shakespeare s work something to remember. • 27. Why Fear Plays From The World Of Bull Riding Or Motorcycle... The mental game; every athlete must play the mental game and it s especially prevalent within the world of bull riding or motorcycle racing. When I ponder my days of riding bulls (for a short period) and now racing motorcycles, the one key emotion that sticks out like a broken bone from an arm after a bad crash is most certainly fear. With these two sports, fear is the prevailing emotion that the athletes feed off of and at times, attempt to suppress and control. It s key to understand why fear plays such a major role when looking at these sports objectively. Think about what might happen. The repercussions range from some bruises and broken bones to death and permanent disfigurement. So it is very natural for the athlete to have to deal with the fear of what might go wrong . There are countless times that when it came time for me to slide onto my bull, fear would completely overwhelm me. I was not just forced, but completely pushed into a middle state of panic. All of a sudden my vision narrowed, my breathing became very quick and my pulse could be felt in my temples; racing well over 100 beats per minute. Because of this reaction to fear I usually walked away defeated because I was unable function; I was frozen. It must be understood that fear is a very natural reaction as the human brain tends to want to preserve itself. However, fear can often hold athletes like bull riders or motorcycle races back because we forget the task at hand: doing the very best we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unlike a lot of other sports, you are hot and sweaty in a gym, however surfing in the ocean makes you feel cool on a hot day. If you are a beginner, it may be very challenging to catch a wave. It is recommended to use a soft foam board. These boards are lightweight, don t require wax, and easy to get up and stand on. Before you decide to get in water, you need to make sure that you find the right spot with just enough waves. I would not recommend going into an area with very big waves because surfing as a beginner, it would be very overwhelming. This is a short story about two unhappily married people and the challenges they must overcome when they fall in love with one another. Chekhov s central idea in this short story is that love is an intense force that has the ability to improve a person purely because they love another person. Chekhov conveys this idea not through words but his use of beautifully detailed descriptions of the physical setting throughout each scene in the story. How this affair was different from the many others he had before. Dimitri felt different about Anna his feelings were more pure and stronger than he had ever felt for any other woman. The movement of the wind is describing how Dimitri s who normally had control of himself had now found that he unable to control these new found emotions for Anna. Chekhov further describes the wind blowing peoples hats off showing the reader just how out of control these emotions really are. Dimitri s feelings for Anna were not ones that he welcomed just like one does not enjoy there hat being blown off their head. Dimitri is surly losing control of his own emotions in this scene and this was very new to the womanizer who looked down on woman. For others, it s complex instrumentation and clever songwriting. Still others prefer deep lyrics they can dig into and analyze. On all of these fronts, Let Down passes with flying colors. But what makes Let Down such an effective song for me is how well it can put feelings into words and sounds, and its ability to completely accept the meaninglessness of life, while at the same time proclaiming the joy of living life. In the end, Let Down truly shines because of its intricate rhythm, melody, and amazing instrumentation and lyrics. The harmony is simple yet effective, acting as a canvas for the melody, instrumentation, and lyrics to flourish from. It starts on its key center, A major, a common and comfortable place for a song to start on. It then moves to E major, a chord that feels unsettled for songs in the key of A major, and is commonly used to set up a feeling of tension in songs. Then it moves to F# minor, giving the song a somewhat somber, yet still fundamentally happy feeling. Afterwards, it moves back to the unresolved E major, to then resolve back to the tonic (the song s key center), A major. An unresolved chord doesn t feel quite at place in a song, and wants to find closure by pivoting back to the song s key center. This progression isn t anything special, but it does offer a strong building block for the other elements of the song to be built on. This pattern repeats through the verses. Instrumentally, the song takes inspiration from Phil Spector s Wall of Sound technique.1 Through this dense, multi layered arrangement and production, the electric piano, drums, bass, acoustic guitar, and electric guitar all work together to create one thick, powerful sound. This helps the song gain a sense of resolve in the face of its poignant lyrics. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Palm Oil Growth And Sustainability Palm Oil Growth in Peru Slows as Land Suitability and Sustainability Take Top Priority Palm is a tree crop suited to cultivation in climatic conditions similar to those of the tropical rainforest. From 1999 to 2009, global production more than doubled. Thirty years ago, palm oil accounted for less than 2 percent but now accounts for 37 percent of vegetable oil consumption worldwide, and palm has displaced soy as the world s most important vegetable oil. Palm oil is used as a biofuel, for cooking, and in a wide range of other items, including food products, cosmetics, soaps and detergents. Malaysia and Indonesia produce 85 percent of the world s palm oil. Expansion in these two countries is expected to diminish by 2022, however, as land suitable for additional palm oil production dwindles. As an alternative, developers are looking to other regions for expansion, including Latin America. Estimates suggest that Peru has the second largest area potentially suitable for increased oil palm production within this region. Area Expansion In 2003, the Peruvian government announced that the production of biofuels, including palm oil, would be a priority. Before 2006, palm expansion in Peru was slow and occurred mainly on already cleared land (mostly pastures and secondary growth forests, as opposed to old growth forests.) Between 2006 and 2010, however, area doubled, and about 70 percent of all new palm plantations during this time were established by old growth clearing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Analysis Of John Cheever s The Swimmer Snigdha Sama Mrs. Hurtado English I H 9 March 2016 A Tale of Riches to Rags in The Swimmer The character and intelligence of a person is truly shown when he or she is forced to face reality. This is clearly established in The Swimmer , a story about a man thrown off his high horse. The story starts with Neddy Merrill and his group of wealthy socialites conversing at the Westerhazys house. Flashing back to his Olympic days, Neddy decides to swim through bodies of water to reach his house. He calls this trail the Lucinda River and with a lot of effort, as he isn t as fast as he was in his prime years, he reaches his house, only to find it empty and devoid of his wife and daughters. John Cheever cleverly brings together a seemingly random series of events and combines them. His writing style is best explained by his own words when he says Fiction is art and art is the triumph over chaos. In his award winning short story, The Swimmer , John Cheever uses symbolism, imagery, and characterization to establish a seemingly silly and childish tone that evolves into a somber and realistic mood. Symbolism is used a lot in the establishment of the mood. One way Cheever used symbolism in the story was the change from dawn to dusk he shows in the tale. At the beginning of the story, Neddy Merrill says It was a fine day. The adsorption isotherm of madder on wool fibers was found to follow Freundlich type of adsorption. The addition of salt and acid (pH 4.5) to the dyebath resulted in an increase of adsorption. In relation to mordanting tests, the use of different mordants and mordanting procedures gave various color characteristics on dyed wool fabrics. The results showed that all the dyed samples, mordanted and unmordanted, were in the first quadrant of CIEL*a*b* color space. Mordants such as potassium dichromate, ferrous sulphate and copper (I, II) sulphate led to the darker and lower chromaticity compared to unmordanted dyed sample while mordants stannous chloride, alum resulted in the lighter and higher chromaticity values. Although she was not recognized during her lifetime, the close to 1,800 poems are well known to people who study American Literature. One of her poems, Water, is Taught by Thirst , conveys the message of appreciating what you have instead of waiting for it to disappear by taking a closer look at the poem and evaluating the lines, people can connect to the message by looking at a few things they appreciate in life. By evaluating Water, is Taught by Thirst the reader can have a broader understanding of the theme, appreciate what you have before they vanish before you realize it. Such as the second line, Dickinson mentions land, by the oceans passed which I interpreted as the absence of land. This also means she sees the land as a home, shelter, a place to rest and re energize. To her this is very dear, she loved to stay isolated and frankly it is necessary to have somewhere to call home and relax the mind to let the thoughts flow. Also in line 4, the writer talks about appreciating peace. Line 4 of the poem says Peace by its battles told , I interpret this such as we miss and understand peace in the middle of battle, war, conflict, and beef. Only during times of need does someone ever truly appreciate something. In reflecting on my life and on the concept of appreciation, I can relate because of my appreciation for the things I have in my life. His attitude is not always the best, like sometimes he will ignore me, but for the most part he is obedient. He is practically family or even more than that. Another thing I appreciate but can sometimes lose sight of is my parents, they love me a lot and there are times I forget that they are human beings and they have their own problems. My organization is responsible for the management of six distribution warehouses located in Baldwin, Jacksonville, Orlando and Miami, Florida; Hammond, Louisiana; and Montgomery, Alabama. Our transportation experts oversee our supply chain and ensure that products are delivered safely and on time to more than 480 stores throughout the Southeast. Timely and high quality delivery is essential for the company to function. Food products are often very tricky to ship and the company must meet both legal and company specific standards. For every potential order, a wide variety of elements can go wrong, spanning from spoilage to damage to delays, all of which make the final product unsuitable, resulting in potential losses for the company and disappointed customers.
