Intel Capital Structure Essay
Question 5: Evaluate the Put Warrant/Convertible Bond proposal. Does it solve Intel s capital structure
dilemma? What arguments might be made in favor of it?
Intel s capital structure dilemma was that it was holding too much cash on hand. Eventually, there
were three available strategies or alternatives that Intel could undertake in terms of cash disbursement
policies. First, it could continue or expand its market repurchase program. Secondly, Intel could
declare dividends to its shareholders on existing stocks. The last strategy is to put together a package
of two unique securities: 1) A distribution of a two year put warrant to its existing shareholders. 2) A
distribution of 10 year convertible subordinated debentures to new ... Show more content on

In this sense, Intel is hence unlikely to be able to reduce their cash holdings via the put warrant
strategy. http://www.derivativesstrategy.com/magazine/archive/1998/0598col1.asp However, since this
is a distribution, and not sale, of the warrants, there are no tangible benefits for Intel if the stock price
at the expiration date is above $50. It does not stand to gain from any sale proceeds since the warrants
were distributed instead of sold.
The issuance of convertible debt will result in even more cash holdings for Intel, an additional $1
billion. This, at face value, does not solve Intel s capital structure dilemma of having too much cash.
However, Intel can afford to incur more debt financing, since it has relatively low long term debt. By
doing so, its long term debt ratio (using 1991 figure) would change to:
Long Term Debt Ratio = (Long Term Debt)/(Total Assets) = (0.363 + 1)/6.292
= 21.7%
This figure could be excessively high, as the industry average is 14.42%. It must be noted that after
two years, debt holders would be entitled to convert these convertible bonds into Intel common stock.
Should it be so, this would once again bring down the long term debt ratio, and increase Intel s
shareholder s equity.

Essay on Moliere s Tartuffe and the Religious Hypocrisy
Moliere s Tartuffe and the Religious Hypocrisy
Moliere s Tartuffe is a satire based on religious hypocrisy. Every character is essential in Tartuffe. All
of the characters play an important role, but it is easy to say that Tartuffe and Orgon are the main
characters. First, we must know the definition of satire. According to the Merriam Webster Online
Dictionary, satire is defined as literary work holding up human vices and follies to ridicule or scorn (
satire ). In other words, a satire is defined as literary work that uses humor to point out the foolishness
of a person or just in human nature. Religious hypocrisy can be self defined as a false assumption of a
person. What follows are examples of how I believe Tartuffe exposes humor ... Show more content on

In spit of the fact that Mariane wishes to marry with Valere; but she wants to please her father as well.
Dorine, Mariane s maid, questions Orgon by saying,
There s lately been a rumor going about Based on some hunch or chance remark, no doubt That you
mean Mariane to wed Tartuffe. I ve laughed it off, of course, as just a spoof (Tartuffe 2.2.5 7).
It is obvious to see at this stage in the story that many of the characters are in disbelief that Orgon
wishes Mariane to marry Tartuffe. Several of the characters have confronted Orgon about his decision
and have given their own opinions on Tartuffe is blindness. There have not been any positive
comments or statements made about Tartuffe to Orgon but Orgon stubbornly believes that Tartuffe is a
heaven s blessing. As the story progresses, Orgon is left with no other choice, but to believe what is
being said. But Orgon learns such wisdom at a near tragic cost.
Before Orgon is left to believe the statements about Tartuffe, it is the discussion between Orgon s
wife, Elmire, and Tartuffe that begins to reveal the truth of the rumors of Tartuffe. As Elmire and
Tartuffe talk about Orgon s proposal to marry Mariane, Tartuffe says that he would rather find
happiness elsewhere. It is at this point in the play that Tartuffe begins to reveal his feelings towards
Elmire.

Figurative Meaning Of The Dead By James Joyce
The short story of Dubliners by James Joyce, The Dead, is set in the boisterous early twentieth
century, which brings up the political background of Ireland at that time. This political setting was
hesitant but still optimistic, as Ireland demanded independence from Great Britain and went through a
climactic cultural recovery. The author James Joyce appropriately uses the main character, Gabriel
Conroy, and Gabriel s wife, Gretta Conroy, to help develop the theme of encounters between the
recently dead and the living within the Irish society.
Both characters of Gretta Conroy and Gabriel Conroy in The Dead are also the main purpose for
which the title of the story is created. For instance, one function of the character of Gabriel s wife,
Gretta Conroy, in the story is to demonstrate the figurative meaning of the title. The Dead has
reference to the feelings of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This second and last example of The Dead in a figurative sense is the turning point in the change of
Gabriel Conroy s feelings at the end of the story. Although Gabriel Conroy may look as a successful
well educated person, most of his way of living is focused internally. In other words, Gabriel is
moderately a person who feels inclined to withhold information about his feelings and thoughts.
When certain circumstances happen, these factors make him think about so much of his own life as
that of the life of any nearby person to him in general. Gabriel, for example, would like to love
intensely his wife, but his ambition to have control of her feelings is stronger than anything else,
(Joyce 213). As a consequence, he maintains a great deal of memories of his relationship to his wife
Greta in the past that are important for him. Notwithstanding, Gabriel recognizes that his marriage has
not been quite favorable, but hopes the tension between them may someday

Originally from the rural farming town of Auxvasse, Missouri, Mark Chism experienced and

Sunday Night Football Advertisement Analysis
When I was on the high school speech team, it seemed that I could not go to a round of persuasive
speaking without hearing a speech about participation awards. Each and every one of them was
against giving awards purely for participation. They reflected a belief that is quite common where I
am from. In Northeast Nebraska, there are a lot of families who work very hard and still do not have a
lot, where most people believe in getting rewarded for hard work, and nothing else. A couple of
weekends ago, I was watching Sunday Night Football when I saw an advertisement by Kia Motors
that reminded me of the attitudes I had come into contact with growing up.
The advertisement begins with a father and his son walking towards their car. The son is wearing a
football uniform and is carrying a trophy. His father asks him if he can see the trophy. The son hands
his father the trophy, which reads Participant. We see the father instantly look upset, and then we hear
his thoughts, Participation trophy? But we, we won every game. Why do we get the same trophy as all
those teams we d beaten? Are we gonna start ending games with hugs instead of handshakes? He
begins repeating the word no over and over again as he breaks off the engraving that says Participant
and then he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of them probably know the joy of winning. They surely all understand the agony of defeat on a
personal level. Whether it is in the workplace, not getting a promotion, or in college, not getting a
great grade, or as a kid, not winning an athletic competition. Kia claims that their car is built for
football families. It is appealing not to families from my area who value hard work, but to sports
families like mine who have experienced great joy in winning, and great agony in losing. The intended
audience is those people who are likely to watch a sporting event on a Sunday

Essay about Inherit the Wind
Inherit the Wind is about a 24 year old teacher named Bertram T. Cates, who is arrested for teaching
Darwin s Theory of Evolution to his junior high class. Some high profile Hillsboro town s people
press charges and have Cates arrested for teaching evolutionism in a stringent Christian town. A
famous lawyer named Henry Drummond defends him; while a fundamentalist politician Matthew
Harrison Brady prosecutes. The story takes place in Hillsboro, which is a small town in Tennessee.
Cates is merely trying to teach to his class that there is more to life than just what the Bible teaches.
He is not trying to be nonreligious; rather he is just teaching his class to think outside the box. The
town s people think that Cates is trying to push ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having the label of colonel applied to his name only increases his perceived appearance of power and
knowledge. The locals feel inferior to Brady s intellectual persona radiating from his ego. This is
identical to cults where the members feel inferior as common folk, compared to the omnipresent
director. Like many cultic leaders, Brady eventually falls victim to realism and practicality. Brady is
no expert on the Bible and that is made abundantly clear during the trial. He is wise enough to recall
major key elements, and has also committed many Biblical passages to memory. However, he is naïve
and poorly versed on the literal translation of some controversial facets of the Bible, which in turn
destroy his credibility during cross examination by Drummond when he takes the stand. Bertram
Cates is not a typical criminal. He is quiet and reserved and doesn t to want to cause trouble or
conflict. He is merely standing up for what he believes in and is doing his best to teach his students
that there is more to the world than what the Bible states. He is viewed as unchristian and toxic by the
locals. Both Drummond and Cates experience a struggle against mainstream society. Cates doesn t try
to stand up for himself too much, he actually is quite dependant on Drummond for support and
direction. In the end, Cates is ironically more forgiving than his Christian counterparts. Cates role in
the film is quite small in

Uxt Task 1 Essay
I chose to study and analyze J.M.W. Turner s Slave Ship for this project and found it to be very
interesting. Immediately while looking at the piece you get a strong sense of emotion and drama that
is being portrayed. There is a lot of depth and warmth in the colors that are used and wide swift brush
strokes to create the images. The first image that caught my eye was of waves crashing on the left side
of the painting. The white tips of the waves are very noticeable against the softer shades of the ocean.
Behind the waves is a ship which is the next part of the painting that drew my attention. The ship
seems to be caught in the rough waves of the sea and barely able to keep afloat. There is a glimmer of
light from the sun peeking through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Turner it is a lot clearer as to why he depicted such an emotional and vivid work of art in Slave Ship.
Turner was inspired to paint this piece after reading The History and Abolition of the Slave Trade by
Thomas Clarkson. In 1781, the captain of the slave ship Zong had ordered 133 slaves to be thrown
overboard so that insurance payments could be collected. This event probably inspired Turner to
create this artwork. Turner became an advocate for abolishing slavery around the world and even
exhibited this painting during an anti slavery conference (History in an Hour).
Common themes that were seen in the Romantic era, which spanned from the end of the eighteenth
century to the beginning of the nineteenth century, were naturalism, Gothicism, emotionalism, and
exoticism. Salve Ship definitely portrays some, if not all, of these themes. The most obvious used
theme would be emotion. Turner is clearly trying to get an emotional response out of his audience
with such a dark and dramatic subject matter in this piece or art. It would be very hard not to have
high emotions when looking at it. Work of art from the Romantic time period shares many similarities
with work that is seen in the modern world and today s audience can relate greatly to art from that
time. There is a strong sense of emotion and erotic response in art in the modern age and people react
strongly to that. Art from romanticism brings out the same emotion and response.

Lipsle Analysis Case Study
A STEEPLE analysis is a strategic marketing tool that allows business owners to take a closer look at
the external factors that could affect the day to day running of the business. The external factors a
STEEPLE analysis includes are sociological, technological, economic, environmental, political, legal
and ethical.
After reading the (EMA, 2016) case study, it was clear that sociological factors affect Leon
substantially. One factor that has affected Leon is education; this is due to the new training
programme, Wing Tsun, Vincent has adopted in a bid to improve performance, reduce wastage and
promote staff wellbeing. Since starting, Leon s baristas have knocked 30 seconds off their time which
is now 4 minutes 30 seconds to make 6 perfect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, another factor that I found within the (EMA, 2016) case study was that Leon plan to
open its first site outside of the UK, which will be located within Amsterdam s Schipol airport and will
be the first of a few sites within northern Europe. This will impact Leon greatly as increasing the
number of chain restaurants will be costly at first but then will provide further income which will
boost their economic growth.
After reading the (EMA, 2016) case study, I found that environmental factors affect Leon but not a
substantial amount. For example, Leon s new training programme, Wing Tsun, is not only a way to
improve performance but also to reduce wastage. This new programme was introduced after Vincent,
the co founder of Leon, stated in an interview that the purpose of business should be to make the lives
of humans and the health of the planet better. Therefore, by introducing the new programme that helps
reduce the wastage of Leon s restaurants, Vincent s company is helping the health of the planet.
Leon may have political factors that affect their business on a day to day basis but there wasn t any
relevant information in the case study regarding politics. Therefore, I can t comment on how political
factors affect Leon.
A legal factor that was present in the (EMA, 2016) case study was taxation, particularly the sugar tax .
Leon has put the sugar tax into practice by adding an

My Education At San Francisco State University Essay
Figuring out what made you, you is a hard thing to accomplish, is it a mixture of your mother s
intuition and your father s stubbornness. Or is it the fact that you have his nose and her smile. Or is
that distant look in your eye you got from your grandmother. To include education into this age old
question brings up another. Who had the biggest impact on my life, the one who made me decide that
continuing my education was worth it. I would have to say it would have to be my father, a man who
believed he could make me into the child he wasn t. My Father Blake Christopher Thomas has had the
biggest impact on my life in both positive and negative ways, he is the reason I decided to continue
my education at San Francisco State University.
I am named after my father, a man whose deep hearted laughter could fill a room and whose stern
words and big smile filled my whole world. Standing at 6 5 he was, for lack of better words, my
skyscraper. Since a young age my father s worried, he worried if I would grow up to be a delinquent,
an imbecile, or my mother. The same his way his father raised him, he wanted to do the same for me,
with structure and family values.
For the first years of my life I went to a private school a place where my father knew I would succeed
a place where I would have gone on to the best of the best, consequently the best was 20,000 dollars a
year. In turn instead of private school, he gave me books, I cherished it, it allowed me to escape reality

delicious treats at an affordable price using local products that will make customers smile. The high
quality of the products, the positivity of the environment, and the level of excellence in customer
service will be key factors in building customer loyalty. With such a strong mission statement the
owners will need to carefully analyze the environmental forces associated with the company. Internal

could also be considered factors. For Treat Squared several of these should be closely watched to
avoid any negative impact on the business. For instance, the customers and their recommendations are
what will initially get the business recognized. If the customers don t love the product and don t buy
into the atmosphere and experience that they are selling, they will tell others and sales will drop. On a
positive note, currently there are no other shops like Treat Squared in this region which reduces the
risk of a rival competitor in the beginning. This doesn t mean that someone could decide to copy the
idea and open a bigger and better shop with cheaper prices to lure the consumer away. One of the keys

the steps along with a brief description on how it can impact a business s success. The role of each
step and why each step is critical in this process will also be explained. The omission of a step, no
matter how small, could negatively impact the financial security of a business. The four basic financial
statements and why they are important will be the final segment in discussing the full accounting
cycle.
The point of the accounting cycle is to gather all financial information for a company within a certain

These adjusted entries will now be journalized and the preparation for the adjusted trial balance

equities, assets, and liabilities. The financial statements are now ready to be prepared after completing
the adjusted trial balance. The financial statements are a formal representation of the financial success
and position of the business and shows how this position has grown or depleted over time. Now you
will journalize and post the closing entries. These entries are created at the end of the specific
accounting period and transfers the account balances of temporary accounts to permanent accounts.
Last but not least, you will prepare the post closing trial balance. This is the process in which you list
all accounts and balances in the closing of an accounting period; these items listed will only be
permanent accounts. The purpose of preparing a post closing trial balance is to be certain that all
balances of debits and credits are equal in order for the next accounting cycle to begin effectively and
efficiently. Each step plays a vital role in a business s success. If one step is miscalculated, then all
steps proceeding will have incorrect values. The entire process will need to be recalculated if this error

The Definition Of Theatre In The 18th And 19th Century
The word Theatre originates from the Greek word theatron, which means seeing place, therefore
describing theatre as a place where you go see things. There are 2 types of definitions for Theatre; the
hardware and the software . The hardware being definitions like indicating where films are shown or
metaphorically refers to a place where wars and surgeries occur like theatre of operations The
software definition of theatre describes the activity involved in theatre like the group of people that
compose plays.
The theatre building used to be small open spaces where the people performed and spectators
watched. As it grew in popularity, theatres needed to be remodeled and made big enough to sit
everyone. The audience would be located would be in an elevated area and the actors below. Roman
theatres were elaborate and embellished with marble carvings and gilded columns. Theaters built in
the 18th and 19th century are still open and operating today. Theatres are fundamental to urban
architecture as well as to contemporary life. Theatre involves a very large group of people working
together on a single performance. These groups can be called companies or troupes that tour cities to
present a play. These companies are self contained production units capable of writing, preparing and
presenting works to a point where some have become legendary, like the Lord Chamberlain s Men of
London, which Shakespeare was a part of.
Theatre is also the occupation of its practitioners.

Small business owners often fail to grasp the understanding of the legalities of ownership and how to
separate their business liability from themselves. This means there must be a legal structure in place to
protect the investor from the mishaps or misfortunes of the business, aside from carrying a business
insurance policy. State and county tax laws play a role in determining how the legalities of the
business should be structured, as well. In many cases an incorporated business is often preferential
over a limited liability company with outside investors. Both legal entities ensure to protect the
investor by separating personal and business assets. Being incorporated either way allows the RV park
an easier avenue of attracting new investors, raising capital, and if necessary, allowing a more
manageable transfer of ownership. There are some differences between the types of incorporation,
though most are minimal. Limited liability companies have options of four different types of tax
treatment, whereas a standard incorporated business, such as an S corporation or C corporation is
often taxed heavier. Some of the drawbacks for a business set up under an incorporation is the
additional requirements for administrative details and record keeping. In some cases, becoming
incorporated can create an additional tax burden for the business. This can be especially detrimental to

continues to pour in an abundant deal of time and effort, to ensure the recipient remains pleased. This

exemplified by Cathy Linton s love for Linton Heathcliff. Compared to a dove, Cathy is characterized
as gentle and loving deeply with a capacity for intense attachments...a heart sensitive and lively to

revealed to be ill, Cathy s sensitive heart may have not have accepted his cruelty or marriage. Cathy
and Linton s relationship possesses no passion or kindness, since it is essentially Cathy s guilt which

Children Of Lesser God Analysis
In the movie, Children of Lesser God is about a new teacher instructor named James who is a speech
teacher at a deaf school at New England. He taught at many top schools with his speech degree by
helping deaf student communicate by speaking to one another. Something is different from James as
an instructor because the principle of the deaf school told James to not go beyond the tradition teacher.
Bit James, he did not listen to the principle, his way of teaching is having a teaching plan. For
instance, he would play loud rock music at a classroom so the student can feel the vibration going
through the speaker and have a feel of what the music feels like. Also, he would teach the students one
by one from trying to speak phonetically. The

Work Addiction Research Papers
The days of the regular 9 to 5 workday, 40 hour week and relaxing vacations have all but gone by the
wayside. Today, they have more often than not been replaced by workdays with no set timeframe, a
workweek consisting of up to 60 hours or more and vacations that are for the most part nonexistent.
With such extreme changes in modern work habits, things such as relationships, health and lifestyles
suffer. Sadly, this disorder is not new to researchers nor is it as small as a problem as most people
think it is. People that worked harder and longer than needed were considered ideal employees in the
past. Today, companies are implementing mandatory time off as to battle the addiction to work.
Researchers have discovered that not only is there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people may think this type of disorder is mostly exhibited by those with jobs, but it has been
found that even those with no jobs also suffer from such an affliction. According to many researchers
studying today s work epidemic, it has been estimated that the majority of people with this problem
have come from such situations as dysfunctional families and alcoholic parent(s). The cause for this
stems from not being able to control situations that were not controllable. Work addiction is
considered an attempt to control a situation in which they cannot control. Other researchers have
found that the sudden increase of workaholism is stemmed from recent economic pressures. People
think that by working harder and logging longer hours is a viable way of keeping a job in such harsh
economic times. During a recent study by Saul Robinson, a psychotherapist and professor at the
University of North Carolina Charlotte found that there were four different types of workaholics. The
bulimic workaholic is one that thinks that a job must be done PERFECTLY or not done at all. The
relentless workaholic, described as an adrenaline junkie, is one that tends to take on more work than
can possibly be done. The attention deficit workaholic is one that starts a job with a fury but then fails
to finish because of lost interest for another job. The savoring workaholic is one that works very

Revenge In Hamlet Essay
Hamlet
Hamlet is a classic example of a tragedy as Hamlet suffers while trying to avenge his fathers death and
eventually dies at the end while attempting to do so. Hamlet feels empty without resolution to his
father amp;#8217;s death and since there is no justice system that is going to reveal the truth about his
father amp;#8217;s death, he must take it into his own hands. Hamlet delays killing Claudius for a
long time after the ghost appears. Hamlet delays his revenge of his fathers death not because he is a
coward but because his psychological feelings and need for a perfect revenge cause him to delay in
order to wait for the perfect moment to kill Claudius.

suddenly hears a voice behind the arras. Without looking he thrusts his sword through it thinking it is

(3.4. 32). His doubt is quickly assured when he looks behind the arras to reveal Polonius amp;#8217;
body. This scene is very important because it shows that Hamlet is certainly not afraid to kill Claudius
and he is not a coward. He thinks he has the perfect opportunity to kill the King in front of his mother
so he does so without hesitation. This action displays a great deal of courage by Hamlet. Even after he
discovers it is Polonius he does not show a great deal of remorse and he even calls him a fool. This
event causes more problems in delaying Hamlet because he now has to deal with the fact that Laertes
now wants him dead. Also, after Hamlet commits the murder he goes away for a few weeks and is
unable to be in contact with the King which delays his revenge even further.
Hamlet begins to wonder why he has not completed his task of killing Claudius yet. He expresses his
confusion when he says, quot;Of thinking to precisely on th amp;#8217; event/ (A thought which,

Cybercrime Has Become One Of The Most Threatening Issues
Cybercrime has become one of the most threatening issues not only for the security of the United
States (U.S.) but for the security of the entire world. The Recent massive attack which targeted around
300,000 machines in 150 countries proved that the world is not prepared to confront such threat. This
type of asymmetric threat demands a more comprehensive approach since it cannot be addressed with
the conventional assets the U.S. possesses to counter its traditional aggressors. Cybercrime requires
the use of innovative and integrated solutions that the individual effort of U.S. federal agencies by
themselves are incapable of providing if working independently. Hence the necessity of crafting

The U.S. should retain the popular support to its institutions since it is fundamental to expand its
values abroad as well. Equally, it is important to maintain the diverse capabilities to address numerous
challenges with the appropriate budget for its functioning. The role of external points of view and
third party opinions are nourishing for the process of growing not only as organizations but also as
human beings. In this sense, think tanks and academia are good sources of criticism and adequate
feedback for retaking the north when arrogance and overconfidence blur the horizon of what is
correct, especially when occupying positions of power.
On the other hand, it is necessary to strengthen the strategic leadership at the highest level of
governance with experts who understand the structure of the national security enterprise while being
capable of synchronizing the roles of the existing organizations and agencies. It is pivotal that roles
and functions within the NSE are clearly defined to avoid multiplicity of efforts. Besides, the
articulation of the private sector, opinion generators, and outside institutions with the government
structure is a must. Similarly, it is crucial to eliminate micromanagement from high level officials to

Comparing Martin Luther And King Henry VIII
The two individuals who changed Global history were both Martin Luther and Henry VIII, during
their time in history. Martin Luther was a monk of the Roman Catholic Church and a religious leader
in his spiritual works, such as the 95 Theses, availability of the translated Bible and, made some of the
Catholic Church followers think for themselves. Also, Martin Luther went as far as challenging the
Pope of the Catholic Church to his supreme authority. [The pope cannot remit any guilt, except by
declaring and showing that it has been remitted by God; or, to be sure, by remitting guilt in cases
reserved to his judgment. If his right to grant remission in these cases were disregarded, the guilt
would certainly remain unforgiven] Despising the Pope s disapproval, Martin Luther went on to
telling and preaching his true message. Martin Luther didn t accept the Catholic Church Indulgences,

History Of Football Team Expansion
Origins Expansion of the National Football League to twenty eight teams was an agreed part of the
AFL/NFL merger of 1970 and confirmed at the end of that season,[1] but attempts to carry it out did
not materialise until after the 1973 season, when it was announced that Tampa would be the first city
to get an expansion franchise,[2] at a cost of US$ 16,000,000 (which even then was considered a
paltry sum.[3] Part of the reason for the delay was due to uncertainties in a few of the newly integrated
teams stadiums; both the Buffalo Bills and Boston Patriots had stadiums inadequate for the NFL, and
Tampa interests unsuccessfully courted both teams to move to the Tampa Bay area.[4][5] Once Rich
and Schaefer Stadiums were built for the Bills and Patriots respectively, the league was stable enough
to begin expanding. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Correlation Of Chirpss
In the real world, we are constantly looking for ways to make connections between things. When you
try to find a correlation between two variables, the variables are known as bivariate data. This is done
so that we can analyze things like the connection between a number of ice cream cones bought each
day compared to its temperature. In this study, we are calculating the correlation coefficient of the
number of chirps a cricket makes per second and the temperature. This is another form of bivariate
data since we are measuring the temperature, and we are measuring the chirps per second. For each
temperature measure and corresponding chirps per second, we can graph it on a scatter plot and
analyze it from there using things like the correlation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads us to believe that one variable caused the other. In this scenario, we are lead to believe that
when the temperature decreases, it directly leads to crickets chirping more. While there is a definite
relationship here, it might not be a cause and effect relationship. This can be known as causation. For
instance, when looking at the number of people affected by cancer each year, and the number of
deaths each year, these will have a direct cause and effect relationship indicating that it has a strong
causation and correlation. The cricket situation doesn t happen to have a strong causation, while
crickets do chirp faster when the temperature rises, it is only because the warm temperature gives
them energy, and the energy is what makes crickets chirp

Animal Testing Persuasive Essay
Did you know that 100 million animals are killed annually due to animal testing ( The Truth about
Animals Used for Experimentation )? Vivisection is the practice of doing operations on live animals
for scientific research or medical advancements. It occurs all over the world including the U.S. There
are anti vivisectionists, those who doesn t believe in animal testing, and pro vivisectionists, those who
believe in animal testing (Coster 6). Animals should not used in medical testing because it s inhumane,
unnecessary, ineffective and costly.
Animals are treated immorally and inhumanely in testing facilities. Many pro vivisectionists claim
animals are treated respectfully but this is false. Experiments done on animals are violent, harmful and
sickening:
Experiments can involve: drowning, suffocating, starving, burning, blinding, destroying hearing,
damaging brains, severing limbs, crushing organs, inducing heart attacks, ulcers, and paralysis. ( The
Truth about Animals Used for Experimentation )
Many of these procedures are considered mild , but these are very severe procedures which almost
always result in the death of the animal ( About Animal Testing ).
In 2013, an investigation took place in an United Kingdom laboratory. The findings were shocking.

Phoenix Jackson Myths
A worn path is a story full of strong mythological figures, but the one we see the most is the phoenix.
The phoenix is a very large bird with coloring of scarlet and gold, we are told that Phoenix Jackson

embodiment of the mythological creature the phoenix. We have found that the most amazing power
that the phoenix has is determination.
Phoenix s appearance also clues us into the fact that she is a phoenix. She is said to have a golden color
and she is wearing a red rag on her head. These two colors are actually the colors that Egyptians
believed that phoenixes were in their legends. The way that Phoenix is described also clues us into the
fact that she resembles a phoenix in the way that she is described as being very old. It is a common
characteristic of the phoenix to mature to a very old age, bursting into flames, and then being reborn
from the ashes. Almost all of her characteristics can be traced back to the way that a phoenix is
commonly described. Phoenixs name is the biggest clue as to what she symbolizes.

Life Of Pi And Slumdog Millionaire Comparison
Life, as they say, is a journey, and that s never so clear as when watching a life story unfold in the
hands of a masterful film director. In Life of Pi, the voyage is both literal and symbolic, as the title
character is forced to traverse the high seas under Grimms fairy tale like circumstances that must be
seen to be well, if not believed, then at least experienced at a deep level. At the same time, the young,
Indian lead character, a devoted spiritual seeker, undergoes an intense inner journey as well. Slumdog
Millionaire, the multi Academy Award winning 2008 film, similarly explores a young, Indian s life
journey as he navigates the Dickensian streets of Mumbai, constantly relying on his wiles to survive,
while also seeking love and, ultimately, fabulous wealth and the respect he deserves. In both films, the
main character s stories are told in flashback to authorities who don t initially believe them. This
device is used as a way to heighten the other worldly nature of both plots. In Slumdog, every

The Plight of The African Slave Essay
Introduction
Slavery was one of the darkest periods in African American history. Africans were taken from their
homes in West Africa and brought to America to work on plantations. However, slavery was not
something new as it existed in Africa before Europeans partook in it, but slavery in Africa was very
different from slavery in America. During their voyage through the Middle Passage many slaves
perished. Those who survived were sold and subjected to the harsh life on the plantations. When this
happened, their authentic cultures were drastically changed from the way of life in their native
homelands in Africa to life in the plantation society of the American colonies. In this essay, I will

Political System
Kings and queens had the authority in many villages such as in Venture s. Often times there were more
than one person in charge of the government. As in the case in Oludah Equiano s homeland, there
were no kings but chief and elders who ran the government of his village. According to Equiano, for
every transaction of the government, as far as my slender observation extended was conducted by the
chief or elders of the place (191). The political system also was consisted of judges and senators in
addition to the chiefs and elders. Surprisingly there were no jails and the punishment depended on the
crime committed. For example, according to Equaino, Adultery was sometimes punished with slavery
or death.... (191).
In America, the enslaved people had no political or judicial systems. They went from being kings and
chiefs to merely commoners under enslavement. They were two classes of

Holden s Teenage Life
Teenage life is known to be full of anxiety and problems, ripe with angst and development. All adults
have gone through it, but it is still a often overlooked aspect of life. J. D. Salinger s novel The Catcher
in the Rye details a taste of troubled teenage life. This novel is a noteworthy classic, lending towards
the author s refusal to have the book digitalized in any way. The book itself is about the 16 year old
Holden Caulfield, a teen in the big city of New York, with a lot of problems. This novel goes a long
way to showing how difficult it can be to grow up, and how it is critical to have good relationships
with others to make it through. One of the primary effects on Holden s teenage life is the loss of his
brother, which is not mentioned until later in the story, where Holden mentions how descriptive his
brother Allie s mitt is, stating he had poems written all over the fingers and the pocket and everywhere
He wrote them on it so that he d have something to read when he was in the field and nobody was up

while most of the story is in past tense. This goes to show how much of an impact this particular event

  • 2. Intel Capital Structure Essay Question 5: Evaluate the Put Warrant/Convertible Bond proposal. Does it solve Intel s capital structure dilemma? What arguments might be made in favor of it? Intel s capital structure dilemma was that it was holding too much cash on hand. Eventually, there were three available strategies or alternatives that Intel could undertake in terms of cash disbursement policies. First, it could continue or expand its market repurchase program. Secondly, Intel could declare dividends to its shareholders on existing stocks. The last strategy is to put together a package of two unique securities: 1) A distribution of a two year put warrant to its existing shareholders. 2) A distribution of 10 year convertible subordinated debentures to new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this sense, Intel is hence unlikely to be able to reduce their cash holdings via the put warrant strategy. http://www.derivativesstrategy.com/magazine/archive/1998/0598col1.asp However, since this is a distribution, and not sale, of the warrants, there are no tangible benefits for Intel if the stock price at the expiration date is above $50. It does not stand to gain from any sale proceeds since the warrants were distributed instead of sold. The issuance of convertible debt will result in even more cash holdings for Intel, an additional $1 billion. This, at face value, does not solve Intel s capital structure dilemma of having too much cash. However, Intel can afford to incur more debt financing, since it has relatively low long term debt. By doing so, its long term debt ratio (using 1991 figure) would change to: Long Term Debt Ratio = (Long Term Debt)/(Total Assets) = (0.363 + 1)/6.292 = 21.7% This figure could be excessively high, as the industry average is 14.42%. It must be noted that after two years, debt holders would be entitled to convert these convertible bonds into Intel common stock. Should it be so, this would once again bring down the long term debt ratio, and increase Intel s shareholder s equity. • 4. Essay on Moliere s Tartuffe and the Religious Hypocrisy Moliere s Tartuffe and the Religious Hypocrisy Moliere s Tartuffe is a satire based on religious hypocrisy. Every character is essential in Tartuffe. All of the characters play an important role, but it is easy to say that Tartuffe and Orgon are the main characters. First, we must know the definition of satire. According to the Merriam Webster Online Dictionary, satire is defined as literary work holding up human vices and follies to ridicule or scorn ( satire ). In other words, a satire is defined as literary work that uses humor to point out the foolishness of a person or just in human nature. Religious hypocrisy can be self defined as a false assumption of a person. What follows are examples of how I believe Tartuffe exposes humor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In spit of the fact that Mariane wishes to marry with Valere; but she wants to please her father as well. Dorine, Mariane s maid, questions Orgon by saying, There s lately been a rumor going about Based on some hunch or chance remark, no doubt That you mean Mariane to wed Tartuffe. I ve laughed it off, of course, as just a spoof (Tartuffe 2.2.5 7). It is obvious to see at this stage in the story that many of the characters are in disbelief that Orgon wishes Mariane to marry Tartuffe. Several of the characters have confronted Orgon about his decision and have given their own opinions on Tartuffe is blindness. There have not been any positive comments or statements made about Tartuffe to Orgon but Orgon stubbornly believes that Tartuffe is a heaven s blessing. As the story progresses, Orgon is left with no other choice, but to believe what is being said. But Orgon learns such wisdom at a near tragic cost. Before Orgon is left to believe the statements about Tartuffe, it is the discussion between Orgon s wife, Elmire, and Tartuffe that begins to reveal the truth of the rumors of Tartuffe. As Elmire and Tartuffe talk about Orgon s proposal to marry Mariane, Tartuffe says that he would rather find happiness elsewhere. It is at this point in the play that Tartuffe begins to reveal his feelings towards Elmire. How could I look on you, O flawless creature, and not adore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Figurative Meaning Of The Dead By James Joyce The short story of Dubliners by James Joyce, The Dead, is set in the boisterous early twentieth century, which brings up the political background of Ireland at that time. This political setting was hesitant but still optimistic, as Ireland demanded independence from Great Britain and went through a climactic cultural recovery. The author James Joyce appropriately uses the main character, Gabriel Conroy, and Gabriel s wife, Gretta Conroy, to help develop the theme of encounters between the recently dead and the living within the Irish society. Both characters of Gretta Conroy and Gabriel Conroy in The Dead are also the main purpose for which the title of the story is created. For instance, one function of the character of Gabriel s wife, Gretta Conroy, in the story is to demonstrate the figurative meaning of the title. The Dead has reference to the feelings of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This second and last example of The Dead in a figurative sense is the turning point in the change of Gabriel Conroy s feelings at the end of the story. Although Gabriel Conroy may look as a successful well educated person, most of his way of living is focused internally. In other words, Gabriel is moderately a person who feels inclined to withhold information about his feelings and thoughts. When certain circumstances happen, these factors make him think about so much of his own life as that of the life of any nearby person to him in general. Gabriel, for example, would like to love intensely his wife, but his ambition to have control of her feelings is stronger than anything else, (Joyce 213). As a consequence, he maintains a great deal of memories of his relationship to his wife Greta in the past that are important for him. Notwithstanding, Gabriel recognizes that his marriage has not been quite favorable, but hopes the tension between them may someday ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Sunday Night Football Advertisement Analysis When I was on the high school speech team, it seemed that I could not go to a round of persuasive speaking without hearing a speech about participation awards. Each and every one of them was against giving awards purely for participation. They reflected a belief that is quite common where I am from. In Northeast Nebraska, there are a lot of families who work very hard and still do not have a lot, where most people believe in getting rewarded for hard work, and nothing else. A couple of weekends ago, I was watching Sunday Night Football when I saw an advertisement by Kia Motors that reminded me of the attitudes I had come into contact with growing up. The advertisement begins with a father and his son walking towards their car. The son is wearing a football uniform and is carrying a trophy. His father asks him if he can see the trophy. The son hands his father the trophy, which reads Participant. We see the father instantly look upset, and then we hear his thoughts, Participation trophy? But we, we won every game. Why do we get the same trophy as all those teams we d beaten? Are we gonna start ending games with hugs instead of handshakes? He begins repeating the word no over and over again as he breaks off the engraving that says Participant and then he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kia claims that their car is built for football families. It is appealing not to families from my area who value hard work, but to sports families like mine who have experienced great joy in winning, and great agony in losing. The intended audience is those people who are likely to watch a sporting event on a Sunday ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay about Inherit the Wind Inherit the Wind is about a 24 year old teacher named Bertram T. Cates, who is arrested for teaching Darwin s Theory of Evolution to his junior high class. Some high profile Hillsboro town s people press charges and have Cates arrested for teaching evolutionism in a stringent Christian town. A famous lawyer named Henry Drummond defends him; while a fundamentalist politician Matthew Harrison Brady prosecutes. The story takes place in Hillsboro, which is a small town in Tennessee. Cates is merely trying to teach to his class that there is more to life than just what the Bible teaches. He is not trying to be nonreligious; rather he is just teaching his class to think outside the box. The town s people think that Cates is trying to push ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having the label of colonel applied to his name only increases his perceived appearance of power and knowledge. The locals feel inferior to Brady s intellectual persona radiating from his ego. This is identical to cults where the members feel inferior as common folk, compared to the omnipresent director. Like many cultic leaders, Brady eventually falls victim to realism and practicality. Brady is no expert on the Bible and that is made abundantly clear during the trial. He is wise enough to recall major key elements, and has also committed many Biblical passages to memory. However, he is naïve and poorly versed on the literal translation of some controversial facets of the Bible, which in turn destroy his credibility during cross examination by Drummond when he takes the stand. Bertram Cates is not a typical criminal. He is quiet and reserved and doesn t to want to cause trouble or conflict. He is merely standing up for what he believes in and is doing his best to teach his students that there is more to the world than what the Bible states. He is viewed as unchristian and toxic by the locals. Both Drummond and Cates experience a struggle against mainstream society. Cates doesn t try to stand up for himself too much, he actually is quite dependant on Drummond for support and direction. In the end, Cates is ironically more forgiving than his Christian counterparts. Cates role in the film is quite small in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Uxt Task 1 Essay I chose to study and analyze J.M.W. Turner s Slave Ship for this project and found it to be very interesting. Immediately while looking at the piece you get a strong sense of emotion and drama that is being portrayed. There is a lot of depth and warmth in the colors that are used and wide swift brush strokes to create the images. The first image that caught my eye was of waves crashing on the left side of the painting. The white tips of the waves are very noticeable against the softer shades of the ocean. Behind the waves is a ship which is the next part of the painting that drew my attention. The ship seems to be caught in the rough waves of the sea and barely able to keep afloat. There is a glimmer of light from the sun peeking through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Turner it is a lot clearer as to why he depicted such an emotional and vivid work of art in Slave Ship. Turner was inspired to paint this piece after reading The History and Abolition of the Slave Trade by Thomas Clarkson. In 1781, the captain of the slave ship Zong had ordered 133 slaves to be thrown overboard so that insurance payments could be collected. This event probably inspired Turner to create this artwork. Turner became an advocate for abolishing slavery around the world and even exhibited this painting during an anti slavery conference (History in an Hour). Common themes that were seen in the Romantic era, which spanned from the end of the eighteenth century to the beginning of the nineteenth century, were naturalism, Gothicism, emotionalism, and exoticism. Salve Ship definitely portrays some, if not all, of these themes. The most obvious used theme would be emotion. Turner is clearly trying to get an emotional response out of his audience with such a dark and dramatic subject matter in this piece or art. It would be very hard not to have high emotions when looking at it. Work of art from the Romantic time period shares many similarities with work that is seen in the modern world and today s audience can relate greatly to art from that time. There is a strong sense of emotion and erotic response in art in the modern age and people react strongly to that. Art from romanticism brings out the same emotion and response. ... Lipsle Analysis Case Study A STEEPLE analysis is a strategic marketing tool that allows business owners to take a closer look at the external factors that could affect the day to day running of the business. The external factors a STEEPLE analysis includes are sociological, technological, economic, environmental, political, legal and ethical. After reading the (EMA, 2016) case study, it was clear that sociological factors affect Leon substantially. One factor that has affected Leon is education; this is due to the new training programme, Wing Tsun, Vincent has adopted in a bid to improve performance, reduce wastage and promote staff wellbeing. Additionally, another factor that I found within the (EMA, 2016) case study was that Leon plan to open its first site outside of the UK, which will be located within Amsterdam s Schipol airport and will be the first of a few sites within northern Europe. This will impact Leon greatly as increasing the number of chain restaurants will be costly at first but then will provide further income which will boost their economic growth. After reading the (EMA, 2016) case study, I found that environmental factors affect Leon but not a substantial amount. For example, Leon s new training programme, Wing Tsun, is not only a way to improve performance but also to reduce wastage. This new programme was introduced after Vincent, the co founder of Leon, stated in an interview that the purpose of business should be to make the lives of humans and the health of the planet better. Therefore, by introducing the new programme that helps reduce the wastage of Leon s restaurants, Vincent s company is helping the health of the planet. Leon may have political factors that affect their business on a day to day basis but there wasn t any relevant information in the case study regarding politics. Therefore, I can t comment on how political factors affect Leon. A legal factor that was present in the (EMA, 2016) case study was taxation, particularly the sugar tax . Who had the biggest impact on my life, the one who made me decide that continuing my education was worth it. My Father Blake Christopher Thomas has had the biggest impact on my life in both positive and negative ways, he is the reason I decided to continue my education at San Francisco State University. I am named after my father, a man whose deep hearted laughter could fill a room and whose stern words and big smile filled my whole world. Standing at 6 5 he was, for lack of better words, my skyscraper. Since a young age my father s worried, he worried if I would grow up to be a delinquent, an imbecile, or my mother. The same his way his father raised him, he wanted to do the same for me, with structure and family values. For the first years of my life I went to a private school a place where my father knew I would succeed a place where I would have gone on to the best of the best, consequently the best was 20,000 dollars a year. Memory management had many issues that different researchers came across but above all is the memory size that fills up within no time and we are again in search of more memory to store our data which we can t afford to lose. In the past days, computers used to store data in their Random Access Memory (RAM) that was surely not enough to store large amount of data and was even volatile (temporary). When you try to find a correlation between two variables, the variables are known as bivariate data. In this study, we are calculating the correlation coefficient of the number of chirps a cricket makes per second and the temperature. For instance, when looking at the number of people affected by cancer each year, and the number of deaths each year, these will have a direct cause and effect relationship indicating that it has a strong causation and correlation. The cricket situation doesn t happen to have a strong causation, while crickets do chirp faster when the temperature rises, it is only because the warm temperature gives them energy, and the energy is what makes crickets chirp ... • 32. Animal Testing Persuasive Essay Did you know that 100 million animals are killed annually due to animal testing ( The Truth about Animals Used for Experimentation )? Vivisection is the practice of doing operations on live animals for scientific research or medical advancements. It occurs all over the world including the U.S. There are anti vivisectionists, those who doesn t believe in animal testing, and pro vivisectionists, those who believe in animal testing (Coster 6). Animals should not used in medical testing because it s inhumane, unnecessary, ineffective and costly. Animals are treated immorally and inhumanely in testing facilities. Many pro vivisectionists claim animals are treated respectfully but this is false. Experiments done on animals are violent, harmful and sickening: Experiments can involve: drowning, suffocating, starving, burning, blinding, destroying hearing, damaging brains, severing limbs, crushing organs, inducing heart attacks, ulcers, and paralysis. ( The Truth about Animals Used for Experimentation ) Many of these procedures are considered mild , but these are very severe procedures which almost always result in the death of the animal ( About Animal Testing ). In 2013, an investigation took place in an United Kingdom laboratory. The findings were shocking. Investigators found that tests were being done are very young puppies and kittens. • 35. Life Of Pi And Slumdog Millionaire Comparison Life, as they say, is a journey, and that s never so clear as when watching a life story unfold in the hands of a masterful film director. In Life of Pi, the voyage is both literal and symbolic, as the title character is forced to traverse the high seas under Grimms fairy tale like circumstances that must be seen to be well, if not believed, then at least experienced at a deep level. At the same time, the young, Indian lead character, a devoted spiritual seeker, undergoes an intense inner journey as well. Slumdog Millionaire, the multi Academy Award winning 2008 film, similarly explores a young, Indian s life journey as he navigates the Dickensian streets of Mumbai, constantly relying on his wiles to survive, while also seeking love and, ultimately, fabulous wealth and the respect he deserves. In both films, the main character s stories are told in flashback to authorities who don t initially believe them. This device is used as a way to heighten the other worldly nature of both plots. Jamal recounts the traumas of his childhood, which include debilitating poverty, the witnessing of his mother s murder by an angry mob, his own torture and Latika s forced prostitution. Africans were taken from their homes in West Africa and brought to America to work on plantations. However, slavery was not something new as it existed in Africa before Europeans partook in it, but slavery in Africa was very different from slavery in America. During their voyage through the Middle Passage many slaves perished. Those who survived were sold and subjected to the harsh life on the plantations. When this happened, their authentic cultures were drastically changed from the way of life in their native homelands in Africa to life in the plantation society of the American colonies. • 39. Holden s Teenage Life Teenage life is known to be full of anxiety and problems, ripe with angst and development. All adults have gone through it, but it is still a often overlooked aspect of life. J. D. Salinger s novel The Catcher in the Rye details a taste of troubled teenage life. This novel is a noteworthy classic, lending towards the author s refusal to have the book digitalized in any way. The book itself is about the 16 year old Holden Caulfield, a teen in the big city of New York, with a lot of problems. This novel goes a long way to showing how difficult it can be to grow up, and how it is critical to have good relationships with others to make it through. One of the primary effects on Holden s teenage life is the loss of his brother, which is not mentioned until later in the story, where Holden mentions how descriptive his brother Allie s mitt is, stating he had poems written all over the fingers and the pocket and everywhere He wrote them on it so that he d have something to read when he was in the field and nobody was up at bat. He s dead now. This quote is especially interesting because it is stated in a present tense style, while most of the story is in past tense.
