Evolution Of Animal Research Paper
Animal Phylum Evolution
In this research paper, I m going to be discussing the evolution of animals and how things have
changed to make them more complex throughout history. I m going to discuss what types of phyla
there are and how their body systems work. First, I m going to discuss is the phyla Protists. Some
protists are autotrophs, a photosynthetic group of phyla referred to as the algae. Some protists are
heterotrophs. Heterotrophs get their energy by consuming other organisms. Protists reproduce
asexually by binary fission, and a few species are capable of sexual reproduction. Protists are so small
they don t have any special organs to exchange gases or get rid of waste. They rely on diffusion which
is movement from a high concentration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s the first phyla most people are familiar with. The phylum is made up of mostly vertebrates. All
chordates have pharyngeal slits (filter feeding organs), dorsal nerve cord (hollow cord to the
notochord), notochord (a skeletal rod supporting the body) and a post anal tail (a body part that runs
past the anal opening.) They have a brain and a central nervous system. As for their digestive system,
they have a 1 way stomach. Now we have the seventh phyla, Osteichthyes and Chondrichthyes.
Osteichthyes have a bony exoskeleton. They have gills that are covered by operculum. They have a
swim bladder and fertilization is external for them. Examples of osteichthyes are salmon, sea horse
and trout. Chondrichthyes have some differences. Their endoskeleton is made of cartilage. Their gills
are exposed to the outside, they do not have a swim bladder. Lastly their fertilization is internal.
Examples of chondrichthyes are sharks and rays. They both have a two chambered heart. They both
have a 1 way stomach track. Next, we have the phylum Aves as our eighth phyla. Aves are birds. All
aves are endothermic and warm blooded animals. They lay eggs that hard and waterproof. Instead of
teeth they have a beak or a bill. Aves are bipedal which means they only walk on two legs. Their
forelimbs are developed into wings and most members of the phyla are highly adapted for

The Incredible Mind of Sir Isaac Newton
Isaac Newton was an instrumental figure to the rise of modern science. Through his incredible mind,
he was able to usher in a new age of science that revolved around logic and reason. He had redefined
natural philosophy at the time and had enlightened the world with his mechanistic world view.
However, Newton was not exactly as dedicated to logic and reason as many would like to think.
Newton not only spent a significant amount of his time in the occult sciences such as alchemy, but was
a deeply religious individual as well. Often times, many think of Newton as being one who pushed
away religious faith as a means to uncovering the natural world by solely depending on the empirical
science, however that is incorrect. Newton was very much influenced by his religious beliefs. In my
paper, I aim to bring Newton s religiosity to light and uncover how it not only influenced his work in
the natural science but how it led him to great research in alchemy as well. I will also focus on why
Newton did not bring out his religious inclinations during his time which would forever change his
portrayal in the modern world. In order to answer my first point of how religion influenced Newton s
works, I will be relying heavily on Charles Webster s From Paracelsus to Newton: Magic and the
Making of Modern Science and Richard Westfall s Science and Religion in Seventeenth Century
England. I will also be looking at some scholarly articles such as William Austin s Newton on

My Bubble Research Paper
In the past, I was not the most outgoing of people. I never spoke over others, and I only opened my
mouth when asked. I always let others walk over me because I feared confrontation. I lived within my
own bubble of safety. As long as I stayed within the boundaries of everything and away from
everyone, I convinced myself that this was the most efficient way to live. No problems with anyone
else, and no problems within my life. Although the life I lived was very safe, it was also very
colorless. This mindset of safety clouded over me and influenced almost all of my choices.
I never seemed to muster up the courage to talk to new people and stayed within my circle of friends. I
never branched out, I never tried out for sports, or the school musical or anything new because I
feared the results would not turn out in my favor. Even food wise, I did not try new things. Growing
up in a Filipino household, I was offered a plethora of diverse cultural foods; I however, had a very
strict diet of apple slices and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This tied to my mindset of staying
within my safety bubble. Trying new things was against my entire being, as if I would malfunction
like a robot without oil. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I came to the grave realization that our cabinets were dry of all things seemingly edible to me. All
foods that existed within my safety universe had unknowingly all slipped away from me at once. My
mother eventually returned home, hours after wallowing in my famine, which only allowed for my
hunger to grow greater than it has ever been. My ravenous self rejoiced when I saw a white takeout
bag in her hands. I pounced over to her, only for myself to discover my only hope for sustenance was,
mozzarella sticks. This began an internal battle within myself on whether I should allow myself to
starve or try something new, which was far beyond any beliefs that existed for

Compare/Contrast Essay
October 6, 2016
Among the many great debates that have passed down through the centuries, there is one that has yet
to be given a clear answer or voice; yes, my fellow nerds, I am talking about the great battle of the
fandoms. While there are those who think Captain Picard would be no match for Darth Vader, it is
finally time to shed some light on the situation; it is time for Star Wars versus Star Trek. I enjoy both
universes equally, but I believe that in a fight Star Trek would win against Star Wars. First, we will
delve into the social atmosphere of both universes; since I am a trekkie from years of absorbing my
mother s obsession, I ll list off their advantages and disadvantages first. In ... Show more content on

Empire era ships are capable of traveling hundreds of thousands, or even millions of times the speed
of light; compared to Federation era ships, which max out at Warp 9.985, the Empire clearly has the
Federation beat. However, not many people think to question the maneuverability of either universe s
ships. While most ships in Star Wars are faster at interstellar travel, hyperdrive propulsion occurs by
diverting vessels into the sub dimension of Hyperspace. While it may be faster than flying at normal
speeds through space, Hyperspace is essentially a spacial slide. The Empire s ships cannot maneuver
while using hyperdrive; to make course corrections, they first would have to exit hyperspace,
recalculate their course trajectory, and then re engage hyperdrive. Therefore, the Empire would be
unable to engage in combat maneuvers at velocities faster than light, and would be sitting ducks while
adjusting their course. Federation vessels on the other hand, are capable of maneuvers at warp speed.
Just as important, if not moreso, their weaponry is capable of being deployed and traveling at warp
speed as

Latin American Culture
A culture is a porous entity, composed of both tangible and intangible elements. Every country seeks
to possess a culture that is unique unto itself. A culture that is recognized and respected the world over.
But due to the permeability, cultures cannot be solely confined to any one particular territory or
region, any more than they can remain static. They flow and transform across borders and decades,
altering and being altered by the already established culture. One example of this interweaving is the
cultural exchange that occurred between the United States and Argentina during the early to mid
1900s. This new cultural form for both Argentina and the U.S. involved varied means and expressions.
Prominently seen in the area of music and films, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
music with that of Latin America or even simply confined to music, cultures as a whole were blended
together. People within the U.S. tended to see Latin America as one homogenous entity. This
admixture is exemplified by the film Down Argentine Way from 1941, the first musical inspired by
Roosevelt s Good Neighbor policy, which was originally titled Down in Rio. When the country was
changed, the Brazilian singer Carmen Miranda remained, still singing in Portuguese. This lack of
clarity or concern for specificity is again seen when bandleader Luis del Campo was headlining at a
midtown nightclub, and the New York Times (1934) remarked: He is, they say, Chilean, and thereby
qualified to conduct a show which leans toward rhumba rhythms. Campo was actually

Psy 270 Week 5 Case Study Donovan
For starters, one of the first measures that I would use as a means to intervene with Donovan would be
something as simple as a phone call. According to the text, this is something that should be
approached with caution, simply because, the client feeling that they are there for a quick fix, become
lax, and wait for the clinician to pass judgement (Miller, Forechimes, Zweben, 2011). With this taken
into consideration, I would gradually start to introduce the basic screening questions and set up an
appointment time and location so that Donovan and I can meet and get this process started. I feel like
with this particular approach it would more than likely provide him with the motivation to participate
in the evaluation process. Would you agree? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This particular criteria maps out the pattern of amphetamine type substance, cocaine, or other
stimulant use leading to clinically significant impairment or distress, as manifested by at least two of
the criteria occurring within a 12 month period (DSM V, 2013). Based on that previous statement
Donovan would be classified as the perfect candidate under criteria four which is craving, or the
strong desire or urge to use the stimulant. The example that I can provide to support this is Donovan
deems it necessary to use cocaine in order to complete multiple tasks. Six on the other hand, goes onto

interpersonal problems caused or exacerbated by the effects of the stimulant. To support this theory it
has been made known that Donovan and his wife are having issues because of his drug use. Last but

having persistent or recurrent physical or psychological problem that is likely to have been caused or
exacerbated by the stimulant. There is where his hypertension comes into

Richard III Deformities
Richard III In Real Life Shakespeare used the physical deformities and the gray areas of history to
create one of the most well known villains of all time. Shakespeare s play, Richard III, is the leading
voice in the Richard III story. He is portrayed as an ugly villain, an image that is fueling the way
people think, talk and reference Richard III. In reality he differed as a person, but many mysteries
remain unsolved. The murder of the princes in the tower at the hand of Richard III is still undecided.
In more recent terms we are able to see what he actually looked like and if his physical appearance
played the role it did in real life. Richard III is an unloved king by many people even though we base
most of our assumptions on a play.
One of the most definitive differences between the play and history is Richard s appearance.
Shakespeare writes about him as a deformed man , who uses his deformities as a crutch, ( Richard)

There is huge debate from both supporters and haters. The Richard III society claims that the facts we
do know don t support Shakespeare s story. Recent evidence of two unidentifiable skeletons in the
tower of London exists but isn t conclusive. Richard still had the same possible motive as the play, the
princes were in the way of the throne (Hicks, 362). If he isn t guilty of this crime it could change the
way he is viewed. The uncertainty leaves room for us to turn to the one source that is definitive,
Shakespeare s play. Shakespeare used this uncertainty to gain our attention and amplify our
accusations against Richard. Murdering relatives may have not been so appalling in its day (
University of Leicester, Web) but as time passes we continue to recoil and speculate, but it s possible

Impact Of The Emancipation Proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamation: The Union s Greatest Asset
The Emancipation Proclamation was a document issued by President Lincoln, that emancipated
slaves, and slowly crippled the Confederacy during the Civil War, due to how it affected the south
economically and diplomatically. In the beginning of the Civil War, although, the Union possessed a
larger, better equipped army, the Confederacy managed to secure victories on the battlefield. The war,
which was thought to be a short one, lasted longer than expected. President Lincoln was quoted in
1862 about the Union s war efforts, saying, the bottom was out of the tub (Mast). This basically meant
that the Union s economic situation was strained due to the war, and the military wasn t having the
success that he had envisioned. President Abraham Lincoln was under immense pressure to give the
military and Northern citizens hope that the war could be won by the Union. On March 4, 1861,
Abraham Lincoln was elected as the 16th President of the United States. Southern politicians assumed
that Lincoln would not take steps to abolish slavery immediately, they were correct, he didn t, but they
pondered on whether he would change his mind in the years to come. It was a well known fact that
President Lincoln did not agree with slavery, and the southern states felt threatened by this. While
some southern states opted to secede from the Union, Lincoln, who was against with the secession
from the Union, decided not to take

Persuasive Essay On The Matrix
As we grew up, and got into a more understanding stage as a kid, we always have questioned
everything that comes new to us, with the, five W s, (when, where, why, who and what). We
experienced new things like, different hobbies, food, traveling to new places, etc. As we enter the
teenage years, we think our main goal in life is to, go to school, graduate, school again, graduate and
finally our dream job, but life isn t that easy isn t? Life involves money, dealing with people, meeting
new people, drama and other struggling situations. Life is not easy because many things come one it.
Watching The Matrix gave me a real life lesson and made me more open minded about life that can
help anybody. I believe The Matrix answers some questions concerning serious life issues like, self
doubting, taking revenge and taking a new path into your life. Self doubting makes us feel unwanted
and unbelieving on your self when it comes to any situation. Taking revenge only takes place when
somebody is mad at one another by mostly being jealous. Taking a new path may be a start to
something better, and start understanding what you re here for. In The Matrix , Morpheus finds Neo
because he knows he is the one. After Morpheus find him and tells him you re the one , Neo is
confused and wants more answers. Morpheus gives Neo two options to take the blue pill or the red
pill. If he takes the red pill, he will know all the answers he s been wanted to know and if he takes the

The Causes Of The Witch Craze In The 15th Century
A woman was once looked upon as a healer, ancient persist, mid wife, therapist, cook, sever of
goddess, a positive figure, etc. As time went on, women were not seen as they were originally
portrayed. Women were eventually viewed as a witch. Each culture had a different perception on what
a witch looked like, but each represented the same thing. In essence, the witch craze brought about the
dark side of a female. Some causes of witch craze in the fifteenth century would include
hallucinations, people not wanting to be tortured and people needing something to blame misfortune
on. Firstly, hallucinations occur as a result of the induction of hallucinogens into the blood stream.
Some people have always wondered how witches got the stigma of being able to fly. During the witch
craze, drugs were popular. With the hot topic of witch s, people who used drugs, hallucinated witches
being able to fly. When there is a lot of pressure and tension is high around a person, some people use
drugs to find an escape. By finding an escape, people made up being able to see witches fly or, just
wanted to be known by telling others a fib to bring attention to ones self. For those who don t use
drugs, they are highly influenced by the people who do use them, making them paranoid and
susceptible to believe anything they hear. In the 1600 s, the deception was how people saw witches
flying around on a broomstick. Because drugs and witches were a popular trend, people added on to

In the early days of mid December in 1981, the Salvadoran military slaughtered hundreds of men,
women, and children who they believed were accessories to the left wing guerrilla group that was
waging war against the government. Mark Danner, in the book The Massacre at El Mozote, addresses
the bloodbath through the stories of survivors and guerrilla members that witnessed it as well as
questioning government officials from both the El Salvadoran and the United States government.

The Atlacatl was an elite armed force that specialized in counter insurgency combat and was training
by the United States military. It received a mission known as Operacíon Rescate, which translates into
Operation Rescue, that had a single goal of removing guerrilla fighters and its sympathizers in the area
surrounding El Mozote. The fighters in this force accused the villagers of supporting FMLN and
supplying them with food, arms, and people. This accusation eventually escalated to the torturing of
certain members of the community and then the barbaric killing of close to a thousand people. The
Atlacatl used various methods to murder and terrorize the people of El Mozote that included
beheading, shooting, stabbing, and hanging. The armed forces separated the women and raped girls as
young as 10 years old as well as gather the children into a room and slaughter them by stabbing or
shooting them. At the end of the El Mozote Massacre, the families that were able to escape or that
were out of town came back to a village full of carnage and their homes destroyed. The total death
count is still debated until this day but it is estimated that the Salvadoran military murdered around a
thousand people at El Mozote. This book illustrates several key issues and social problems that Latin
American politics faced and continue to struggle with to this day. The matter of insurgent movements

Baumol Model Of Cash Management
It was developed by William J. Baumol. The model helps determine a firm s optimum cash balance
under certainty. It is used for cash management. The model helps firms determine the optimum cash
balances that they can keep by considering costs. The costs involved are holding costs (opportunity
costs) and the transactional costs.
Transactional costs are the costs incurred when changing between marketable security and cash.
Holding costs are costs incurred when keeping cash. Opportunity costs are the costs incurred when the
firm chooses to keep cash instead of buying securities. It is also known as interest rate because it is the
interest rate that are foregone by the firm by not investing in marketable securities.
Just like all most model, the Baumol model works with assumptions. The first assumption is that the
firm must be able to forecast its cash requirements and receive a specific flow of cash at regular
intervals. Its cash flows must be certain. The other assumption is that the firm must be able to change
to change the securities that it owns into cash keeping the variable and fixed costs of transactions the
same. The firm must also be aware of it opportunity cost when holding cash. The opportunity cost
should stay constant for a long period of time.
The model works like this. A firm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The use of intelligence gathering efforts of the United States in clandestine operations incognito with
significant levels of deception is often rarely open to the American public. The intelligence agencies
empowerment by the Federal government continues their surveillance methods and information
gathering techniques often without interference in the name of national security. Since the release of
the intelligence gathering methodologies by the National Security analyst Edward Snowden, there has
been a significant amount of public scrutiny regarding intelligence operations and concise scholarly

Why Did Qantas Fail
In 1954, Qantas began service to SFO with the Lockheed Constellation, stopping over in Nadi, Fiji
and Honolulu, Hawaii. 5 years later, the route was upgraded to a Boeing 707, and in 1971 the 747 was
introduced on the route, eliminating the fuel stop in Fiji. Qantas has been in and out of SFO several

When Qantas announced plans to leave SFO in 2011, a spokesman admitted the route has not been a

plan for the future. The 747s operating the SYD SFO route were needed for the SYD DFW route, and

The Cultural Differences In The Canadian Society During...
There were three main groups that suffered and struggled through many obstacles and a lot of people
setting them back; women, First Nations people, and immigrants and minorities. This prejudice caused
a significant negative impact on the Canadian society during the 1920s. In the roaring twenties, many
people believed that only white men should be treated with any respect because that was the status quo
at the time. The status of women was improving as some women got the right to vote, a woman was
elected a member of parliament, and women were now legally considered persons , but women were
still treated horribly and with little respect or dignity. The First Nations people as a whole were greatly
mistreated because of the federal government and the non first nations, Canadians believed that the
First Nations people would be more content, giving up their religion, heritage, and culture and become
more mainstream Canadian Christian. In addition, immigrants and minorities in Canada during this
time also suffered greatly because of the prejudice against them and the fact that the Canadian
government frowned upon all immigration that was not from another Commonwealth country, a
European country, or did not involve white Americans. First of all when women started to do the same
thing men did that had much of the Canadian population skeptical and afraid that these activities
would make the women more masculine and nobody wanted that to happen. Many spectators attended
the game[New Glasgow women s club defeated the Glacé Bay] out of curiosity to find out if the girls
could keep house and cook well enough to attract a husband (Winnick, 40). Of course Canadian
society mocked women who tried to step out of their comfort zones and try something new that could
change the way people viewed women. Their perception of women as helpless and comparing them to
thieves and minority groups rather than as equally intelligent and capable of the same things as the
white men if not more. The status quo influenced women to stay fit, healthy, and good looking. The
media made women think that the ideal body was thin and that they should be wearing a lot of
makeup, but no one wanted them to be more like men at the time; strong and a

A Safe Place Dudley Randall
A Safe Place Dudley Randall orchestrates a powerful poem called, The Ballad of Birmingham. This
poem is more than a, roses are red, violets are blue type of thing. It is an anthem of sorrow from the
many people in the 1960 s who had to suffer through the devastating events that occurred in
Birmingham that night. More than that specific night, the author elaborates on the normalcy of racism.
The poem starts off with a courageous young girl who begs her mother to go with the people to march
for freedom. The mother, of course, answers no due to the violence that was occurring in the town.
Then finally, the girl asks to go to church, her mother without hesitation replies with a confident, yes.

Due to the context clues, it sounds as if she s around ten or eleven. To be that young and ask one s
mother to go march for her freedom while kids around that age should be asking for another Barbie or

the same sense, how passionate the African American community is and was. Further in the poem the
mother lets her daughter go to the sacred place (17) which is the Baptist church in Birmingham,
Alabama. The people who placed these bombs within this sacred place (17) ruined the one place the
community felt safe. They ruined the place they joined together in front of their God to ask questions
as to why racism was even a thing. In the end of the poem the author ends with a desperate cry of, O

Background Information On The Sykes Picot Agreement
Background Information on the Sykes Picot Agreement After the war broke out in the summer of
1914, the Allies Britain, France and Russia held many discussions regarding the future of the Ottoman
Empire, now fighting on the side of Germany and the Central Powers, and its vast expanse of territory
in the Middle East, Arabia and southern central Europe. In March 1915, Britain signed a secret
agreement with Russia, whose designs on the empire s territory had led the Turks to join forces with
Germany and Austria Hungary in 1914. By its terms, Russia would annex the Ottoman capital of
Constantinople and retain control of the Dardanelles (the crucially important strait connecting the
Black Sea with the Mediterranean) and the Gallipoli peninsula, ... Show more content on

On May 19, 1916 representatives of Great Britain and France secretly reach an accord, known as the
Sykes Picot agreement. The Sykes Picot Agreement , officially known as the Asia Minor Agreement
was a secret agreement between the governments of the United Kingdom(Britain) and France, with the
assent aid of Russia, defining their biased proposed spheres of influence that provide them with an
advantage of gaining control in the Middle East should the Triple Entente succeeded in dethroning the
mighty Ottoman Empire during the first World War back in early 1919. The negotiation of this
treaty/agreement occurred between November of 1915 and March of the year 1916. The agreement
finally came to a close on the 19th of May 1916.
The agreement effectively used, implied and put into action the famous imperialistic tactic of the
Europeans: Divide and Rule . This agreement divided the Arab provinces of the Ottoman Empire
outside the Arabian peninsula into areas of future British and French colonization using their
advantage in control and/or influence. Under Sykes Picot, the Syrian coast and much of modern day
Lebanon went to France; Britain would take direct control over central and southern Mesopotamia,
around the Baghdad and Basra provinces. Palestine would have an international administration, as
other Christian powers, namely Russia, held an interest in this region. The rest of the territory in

Persuasive Essay On Robotics
Despite being stereotyped as nerdy by many, robotics is a rewarding extracurricular that can be
beneficial to anyone. Robotics is a program centralized around STEM, which stands for science,
technology, engineering, and math. Today, many schools will have a robotics program, most of which
are run by either VEX or FIRST. All of these programs are centralized around a team working together
to build a robot to the best of their ability to score as many points as possible. All the while,
participants also learn teamwork and technical skills that can be applied to the real world. I have been
a part of VEX Robotics Competition for three years, and prior to that participated in FIRST Lego
League for five years. Throughout this essay, I will mainly focus on VEX Robotics Competition, as
that is the program that I am currently a part of. STEM and robotics programs in schools must become
more available and receive more time and attention because they help train students for engineering
fields which are steadily growing, assist students in being accepted into colleges, and transform
lessons in school into practical, real world skills. To begin, engineering fields have shown consistent
growth, so it is important that students are prepared for pursuing these fields. Experience early on with
practical skills in a robotics club setting can give students an edge if they choose to go into
engineering. For this reason, it is important that robotics be available to as many students as

Portrayal of Women in Rap and Music Videos Essay
Misogyny and degradation of women is present in almost every genre of music, yet the one genre that
completely revolves around demeaning women is rap. Over the years rap and rap music videos have
continually become more sexual and degrading towards women. Rap has been criticized numerous
times for this reason, and that is because rap is one of the most popular genres of music for the
younger generations. It is more than a genre of music, it is a complete industry filled with clothing and
other merchandise. The reason this constant demeaning of women exists is because rap as a genre that
rewards the objectification of women. The excuses used to justify the misogyny in rap are incomplete
and lack accurate support. The most effective way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A rapper couldn t use a line describing what she did in the movie, let alone film it in a video, without
getting heat for it (Keyes 256). While some may choose to side with this argument, rap truly takes
sexual portrayal of women in both music videos and songs to the next level. In rap music videos,
diamond covered rappers stand next to cars as scantily dressed women dance around them. This is the
premise of the majority of rap music videos and both young girls and boys all over the world see the
constant objectification of women in these videos. Naturally this concerns the parents of these kids,
and many critics believes that the images kids see on T.V directly correlate to their development and
thinking: exposure to rap music videos, which is explicit about sex and violence and rarely shows the
potential long term adverse effects of risky behavior, may influence adolescents by modeling thee
unhealthy practices (Thrash). Parents should become more aware of these videos, and make sure that
their young daughters are not watching them. Yet, once they get to the age where they could be
recruited for these videos it is important that they are educated about this industry. This education
should come from the home, but I think it would also be important to provide workshops for girls
about this issue. Since anorexia is such a problem among girls many companies and organizations put
together workshops to educate young girls. One example of this is Dove s Self Esteem

Personal Statement Of Faith By God
PERSONAL STATEMENT OF FAITH
As a man purchased by God through his Son, I believe it is necessary to clearly state, in a concise
manner, the closed handed truths I believe as guided by Scripture. My Statement of Faith summarizes
essential Christian beliefs, shows unity in Christ, and guards me from potential error.
I affirm these gospel truths, with the understanding that my confidence in these truths grows
progressively over time. These beliefs are great cause for joy. Far more than just words on a page, they
are precious gifts from God.
I. The Scriptures.
I believe that the 66 books of the Bible are God s word revealed to us, written by God s apostles and
prophets. In its original manuscripts it contains truth without error as it unfolds the story of God his
creation, our fall, his redemption and restoration; therefore it is, and will remain to the end of the
world, the true center of Christian union. The Scriptures are the supreme standard by which all human
conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried.
II. The Triune God.
We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God. He is an infinite, intelligent Spirit, the
Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth, glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible
worship, trust, and love. In the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: the Father, the Son, and
the Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but complimentary offices in
the great work of redemption.

The Suppression Of Pain And Inflammation
Introduction
1.1. Inflammation
The suppression of pain and inflammation has been a major goal of medical treatment throughout the
ages. Inflammation is an essential response to any noxious stimulus which threatens the host and may
vary from a localized response to a more generalized one. [1, 2, 3]
The inflammation sequence can be summarized as follows:
Initial injury causing release of inflammatory mediators (e.g. histamine, serotonin, leukotriene, SAS
A, lysosomes enzymes and prostaglandins).
Vasodilation.
Increased vascular permeability.
Leukocyte migration, chemo taxis and phagocytosis.
Proliferation of connective tissue cells.
1.1.1. Cause of Inflammation
The agents causing inflammation may be as under:
Physical agents like heat, cold, radiation, mechanical trauma.
Chemical agents like organic and inorganic poisons.
Infective agents like bacteria, viruses and their toxins.
Immunological agents like cell mediated and antigen antibody reactions.
1.1.2. Signs of Inflammation Following are the cardinal signs of inflammation:
Redness
Swelling
Heat
Pain
Loss of function
1.1.3. Sources of Chemical Mediators
The most common sources of chemical mediators are as follows [4]:
Cell/Tissue Mediators
Basophils  Histamine, Serotonin, SRS A

Globalization in Argentina Essay
Globalization in Argentina has affected the country in numerous ways. There are many positives and
negatives. Until 1999 globalization seemed to be the reason the country was so prosperous. Pope John

globalization which brings some positive consequences, as the phenomenon of efficiency and
increased production and, with the development of relations between countries in economic, can

The reforms caused a period of success followed by worse conditions. These policies made the rich
get richer and the poor get poorer. Towards the end of the 1990s the country experienced rising
unemployment and decreasing wages. The privatization of industries in addition to the international
debt and government corruption led to many citizens distrusting the government and failure to pay
taxes thus keeping the problems still at large. Unfortunately, the fragile Argentine economic
infrastructure, while seemingly strong, was not able to withstand the downturn in the world economy
after the severe correction of the both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and NASDAQ stock markets
in the United States in March 2000 and the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. The widespread
economic failure caused the Argentine peso to become devalued and this caused extreme inflation in
prices. In June of 2002 the peso was valued at just $0.26 of a U.S. dollar. The unemployment rates
skyrocketed as well hitting over 25% in most parts of the country and the poverty rate increased from
30% in 1999 to over 50% in 2002. The benefits of globalization in Argentina were short lived but still
vital in the countries development. The benefits of globalization in Argentina at the time were
economic growth, prosperity and increased productivity during the 1990s. Argentina

The Ideological Ambiguity Within The Media Essay
Everyone within a society has his or her own individual concerns in life. Some people, however, are
occasionally looked down more by others, depending on if their problems are seriously destructive to
the society or not. An often time in doing so, these people are manipulated into a dominant ideology
which represents arguments about whether things are of optimistic or pessimistic standards in our
civilization. This set of central principles, ideology, produces particular manners and offer ethical
regulations by which one s dealings can be evaluated. In fact, the media production business appears
to be the focal resource that utilizes the governing beliefs by constructing imaginary medium contacts,

The article The White of Their Eyes: Racist Ideologies and the Media, written by Stuart Hall, Hall
brings an attention to the perception of ideological ambiguity though discovering the typical mass
media s function of establishing racial inequities, such as that the community accepts differential
behaviors of people within the society as common sense. He first starts on describing ideology as a
term that does not consist of individual thoughts, yet assembly of different basics that direct to a
certain judgment or perception. As said by Hall, the representation of race in the mass media builds
the positive and negative consequences of ideology by manufacturing and transforming the ideologies.
This ideological ambiguity is often shaped when the mass media puts up a meaning of what race is for
the audiences, what significance the images of race conveys, and how the issue of race is supposed to
be recognized. In a straightforward phrase, mass media organizes our world as regards to racial
groups; placing people into categories based upon their physical appearances and defined concepts
that have been generally raised after a while. On the other hand, what is really striking about Hall s
argument on the ideological ambiguity is that the importance of these conventional ideas of race
cannot be compared with the ground breaking portrays of traditional form of race for which context is
more appreciated or not in

Twelve Who Ruled Essay
Twelve Who Ruled Book Review
The year of terror is one of the most complex and misunderstood periods in the French Revolution.
Palmer, in his book, Twelve Who Ruled, however, takes this period and skillfully turns it into a written
masterpiece. The book is narrated from the point of view of someone with an omniscient knowledge
of the subject matter, who is reflecting back on the period from the outside.
The book tells the story of a brief moment in history when twelve men (Robespierre, Barere, Saint
Just, Couthon, Lindet, Carnot, Saint Andre, Prieur, Varenne, Herbois, Scholles, and Duvernois) ruled
France; even though they were technically under the control of the Convention. ... Show more content

This can be seen when Palmer compares the other member to Robespierre. After the personal history
of each of the twelve men, Palmer moves right in and starts discussing how and why the Committee of
Public Safety was formed, and how it came to power. After this, he maneuvers circumspectly into how
the committee used this power to purge the nation of quot;counter revolutionaries, quot; who needed
but offend the sensitive ears of Robespierre to be executed. He then moves along chronologically to
the height of the Committee s power and eventually describes the decline and eventual demise of the
reign of terror. This is signified by the execution of Robespierre, who was designated as the instigator
of the terror. It is in his death that the terror culminated, and along with it, this book.
This book is considerably effective as a narrative biography of the quot;Twelve Who Ruled. quot;
Through his eloquent use of detail and his elegant ability to paint a superb picture which incorporates
both the lives and actions of the men in power and the essence and accomplishments of the Committee
of Public Safety as a whole he tells the story of the Reign of Terror. It is his intermixing of the two,
along with his representation of the day that makes this book so quot;Thoroughly sound, eminently
readable, quot; and representative of great narrative writing.

Improving Patient Outcomes And Promote Higher Hospital...
In today s medical society, advancements are constantly being made to improve patient outcomes and
promote higher hospital satisfaction. With as much progress that has been made, there are critical
errors that can still be found in the medical field that, in turn, cause the lack of reimbursement to a
hospital. Through thorough research and evidence based practice, hospitals are able to follow
guidelines to prevent issues such as: patient falls, hospital acquired pressure ulcers, catheter associated
urinary tract infections, ventilator associated pneumonia, and many more. As prevention for multiple

Pressure ulcers are staged rated on severity (stage I stage IV, stage IV including damage to muscle and
possibly joints). The deeper and more severe the pressure ulcer is, the more difficult treating the ulcer
can be, costing the hospital more money per patient case. In one study, conducted in the United States,
it was found that treatment may cost up to seventy thousand dollars per pressure ulcer in the hospital
setting and up to eleven billion dollars annually (Damask, K. 2015). According to the article Drugs
Aging, many patients with severe ulcers, such as a stage three or four, develop chronic wounds that
may even result in death as a complication (Jaul, E. 2010). Prevention is the key in regard to pressure
ulcers. Therefore, quality improvement research can improve hospital protocols, which may/may not
be in place related to pressure ulcers, and improve patient outcomes.
After considering the multitude of characteristics of the assigned unit, a root cause analysis was
completed to determine how at risk the hospital would be for acquiring another patient pressure ulcer.
Root causes analyses are effective in provid[ing] a tool to identify all the possible causes of the
problem not just the obvious ones which allows for possible solutions that might not have been

Good Country People Wise
Books may teach us many lessons, but real life experience is what makes people wise. Being smart is
not the same as being wise. A person can be smart, he or she can have many degrees and diplomas, but
unless he or she have experience life, they will not be wise. Flannery O Connor s Good Country
People shows that people can be well educated and not be wise. Joy and Mrs. Hopewell think that they

believes she is wise by being so accepting of others, but she does not realise that she is neglecting the
person that needs her acceptance the most, Joy. Joy thinks she is wise and smart for attending college.

The dolphins tried to tell the humans about the Earth coming to an end, but the humans misunderstood
every message of the dolphins as amazing stunts and tricks. This last message, So long and thanks for
all the fish which again misunderstood by humans as the dolphins just trying to do a stunt, was the
least the dolphins can do for the doomed humans by thanking them for the fish the humans fed to them
after every stunt they made. After this, the humans never cracked the message of the dolphins, and
they never knew that the Earth is coming to an end until it did. The meaning of these words within the
context of the story is simply that there were living beings on Earth and outside of Earth that was
capable of communicating with humans, although they couldn t understand it or haven t acquired the
capacity to listen to it such as the warning given by the Vogons of the demolition of Earth. In real life,
this statement can be thought of how people leave others when they ve got what they wanted from
them. Specifically, politicians who are corrupt are somewhat what this statement criticizes. After all
the fish , symbolizing taxes, the humans, symbolizing people or citizens, gave to the dolphins, which
symbolizes exploitive governments or political leaders, they just left them on Earth to die. Not to
mention the stunts that the dolphins performs both mesmerizes and confuses humans that the dolphins

The Economic Dequality In Corruption In Mexico
THE (APPARENT) DECLINE IN CORRUPTION IN MEXICO
Due to its current state, it is vital that one understands the political climate in which Mexico is
currently struggling with, particularly in regards to the unfortunate corruption within the government.
Although many different factors have contributed to this problem, the two of most relevance in this
essay are the economic situation and the activities of the drug cartels. In addition to how these events
have led up to this moment, it is also necessary to analyze how these can potentially affect issues such
as NAFTA, immigration and the possible second rise of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).
First and foremost, in order to make an educated comparison, it is important to consider the events that
have led up to the current state of corruption within the Mexican government. One particular aspect of
this issue would be the overall condition of the nation s economy and how inequality has contributed
to the bigger issue. For starters, there is a noticeable divide between the rich and poor, and this income
gap has not improved for quite some time. Although Mexico is a country with substantial wealth, the
income inequality causes this wealth to be concentrated amongst a select few[X]. Such an imbalance
creates friction between these groups of people due to this sort of systematic hierarchy in which not all
citizens are presented with the same opportunities. Such a situation is problematic because it then

The Similarities Between John Sloan And John Constable
John Constable was born the in year 1776, in Suffolk, England, and was raised in the English
countryside, which greatly influenced his later career as an artist. Almost one hundred years later, the
artist John Sloan was born in 1871, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. His subsequent upbringing in the
city of Philadelphia significantly shaped his later career, in a similar fashion to Constable. Both were
brought up, not necessarily aspiring to be artists, but each found his passion for painting later in life.
Despite having little formal training, they each went on to become one of the most noted artists of
their times, each developing a fairly distinct style from the very beginnings their careers.
From the start, Constable was more disposed toward landscape painting, mostly scenes of his family s
properties that he had grown up on. Sloan, however, was more disposed to painting scenes he saw in
the city, usually involving people from many different walks of life. Even so, a great deal of affinity

angle causes the viewer to feel as if they are floating somewhere above, looking down on the scene.
Sloan s painting also has a lot more focus on the buildings in his picture; they are right in the
foreground, and they block out most of the view of the sky. The difference of focus can be seen as one
observes and compares that to the more prominent natural components in Constable s piece. The
buildings in his painting are more in the background and don t take up very much space in the picture

Chronic And Complex Illness Important From A Nursing...
1. How is chronicity defined? Why is an illness rather than a disease approach to chronic and complex
illness important from a nursing perspective? Discuss in regard to depression as co morbidity.
Chronicity is generally used as an umbrella term of chronic illness or disease that refers to persistent
impairments or disabilities deviating from normal life, which require long period of rehabilitation,
supervision, observation and care (Lubkin Larsen 2006). However, in order to understand its complex
context, the distinct difference between disease and illness should be understood (Johnson Chang
2008; Lubkin Larsen 2006). Disease can be defined as the pathophysiology of the condition, which
refers to changes in structure and function (Lubkin Larsen 2006). However, the context of illness is
much broader than disease, as it mainly focuses on symptoms and human experience that includes
how individuals perceive and live with and respond to diseases including carers and health
professionals (Johnson Chang 2008; Lubkin Larsen 2006). Therefore, chronic illness is often
considered as irreversible and incurable condition, which requires ongoing care and attention on all
aspects of the person s life (Johnson Chang 2008).
The medical cure of chronic disease is not considered in nursing s domain, but a nurse can make a
difference in individuals and their families experiences of chronic illness as a member of the
multidisciplinary team (Lubkin Larsen 2006). Although, the

  • 2. Evolution Of Animal Research Paper Animal Phylum Evolution In this research paper, I m going to be discussing the evolution of animals and how things have changed to make them more complex throughout history. I m going to discuss what types of phyla there are and how their body systems work. First, I m going to discuss is the phyla Protists. Some protists are autotrophs, a photosynthetic group of phyla referred to as the algae. Some protists are heterotrophs. Heterotrophs get their energy by consuming other organisms. Protists reproduce asexually by binary fission, and a few species are capable of sexual reproduction. Protists are so small they don t have any special organs to exchange gases or get rid of waste. They rely on diffusion which is movement from a high concentration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s the first phyla most people are familiar with. The phylum is made up of mostly vertebrates. All chordates have pharyngeal slits (filter feeding organs), dorsal nerve cord (hollow cord to the notochord), notochord (a skeletal rod supporting the body) and a post anal tail (a body part that runs past the anal opening.) They have a brain and a central nervous system. As for their digestive system, they have a 1 way stomach. Now we have the seventh phyla, Osteichthyes and Chondrichthyes. Osteichthyes have a bony exoskeleton. They have gills that are covered by operculum. They have a swim bladder and fertilization is external for them. Examples of osteichthyes are salmon, sea horse and trout. Chondrichthyes have some differences. Their endoskeleton is made of cartilage. Their gills are exposed to the outside, they do not have a swim bladder. Lastly their fertilization is internal. Examples of chondrichthyes are sharks and rays. They both have a two chambered heart. They both have a 1 way stomach track. Next, we have the phylum Aves as our eighth phyla. Aves are birds. All aves are endothermic and warm blooded animals. They lay eggs that hard and waterproof. Instead of teeth they have a beak or a bill. Aves are bipedal which means they only walk on two legs. Their forelimbs are developed into wings and most members of the phyla are highly adapted for ... • 3. The Incredible Mind of Sir Isaac Newton Isaac Newton was an instrumental figure to the rise of modern science. Through his incredible mind, he was able to usher in a new age of science that revolved around logic and reason. He had redefined natural philosophy at the time and had enlightened the world with his mechanistic world view. However, Newton was not exactly as dedicated to logic and reason as many would like to think. Newton not only spent a significant amount of his time in the occult sciences such as alchemy, but was a deeply religious individual as well. Often times, many think of Newton as being one who pushed away religious faith as a means to uncovering the natural world by solely depending on the empirical science, however that is incorrect. Newton was very much influenced by his religious beliefs. In my paper, I aim to bring Newton s religiosity to light and uncover how it not only influenced his work in the natural science but how it led him to great research in alchemy as well. I will also focus on why Newton did not bring out his religious inclinations during his time which would forever change his portrayal in the modern world. In order to answer my first point of how religion influenced Newton s works, I will be relying heavily on Charles Webster s From Paracelsus to Newton: Magic and the Making of Modern Science and Richard Westfall s Science and Religion in Seventeenth Century England. I will also be looking at some scholarly articles such as William Austin s Newton on Religion and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. My Bubble Research Paper In the past, I was not the most outgoing of people. I never spoke over others, and I only opened my mouth when asked. I always let others walk over me because I feared confrontation. I lived within my own bubble of safety. As long as I stayed within the boundaries of everything and away from everyone, I convinced myself that this was the most efficient way to live. No problems with anyone else, and no problems within my life. Although the life I lived was very safe, it was also very colorless. This mindset of safety clouded over me and influenced almost all of my choices. I never seemed to muster up the courage to talk to new people and stayed within my circle of friends. I never branched out, I never tried out for sports, or the school musical or anything new because I feared the results would not turn out in my favor. Even food wise, I did not try new things. Growing up in a Filipino household, I was offered a plethora of diverse cultural foods; I however, had a very strict diet of apple slices and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This tied to my mindset of staying within my safety bubble. Trying new things was against my entire being, as if I would malfunction like a robot without oil. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I came to the grave realization that our cabinets were dry of all things seemingly edible to me. All foods that existed within my safety universe had unknowingly all slipped away from me at once. My mother eventually returned home, hours after wallowing in my famine, which only allowed for my hunger to grow greater than it has ever been. My ravenous self rejoiced when I saw a white takeout bag in her hands. I pounced over to her, only for myself to discover my only hope for sustenance was, mozzarella sticks. This began an internal battle within myself on whether I should allow myself to starve or try something new, which was far beyond any beliefs that existed for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Compare And Contrast Star Wars Vs Star Trek Sam Walrath EN103 C Compare/Contrast Essay October 6, 2016 Among the many great debates that have passed down through the centuries, there is one that has yet to be given a clear answer or voice; yes, my fellow nerds, I am talking about the great battle of the fandoms. While there are those who think Captain Picard would be no match for Darth Vader, it is finally time to shed some light on the situation; it is time for Star Wars versus Star Trek. I enjoy both universes equally, but I believe that in a fight Star Trek would win against Star Wars. First, we will delve into the social atmosphere of both universes; since I am a trekkie from years of absorbing my mother s obsession, I ll list off their advantages and disadvantages first. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Empire era ships are capable of traveling hundreds of thousands, or even millions of times the speed of light; compared to Federation era ships, which max out at Warp 9.985, the Empire clearly has the Federation beat. However, not many people think to question the maneuverability of either universe s ships. While most ships in Star Wars are faster at interstellar travel, hyperdrive propulsion occurs by diverting vessels into the sub dimension of Hyperspace. While it may be faster than flying at normal speeds through space, Hyperspace is essentially a spacial slide. The Empire s ships cannot maneuver while using hyperdrive; to make course corrections, they first would have to exit hyperspace, recalculate their course trajectory, and then re engage hyperdrive. Therefore, the Empire would be unable to engage in combat maneuvers at velocities faster than light, and would be sitting ducks while adjusting their course. Federation vessels on the other hand, are capable of maneuvers at warp speed. Just as important, if not moreso, their weaponry is capable of being deployed and traveling at warp speed as ... • 6. Latin American Culture A culture is a porous entity, composed of both tangible and intangible elements. Every country seeks to possess a culture that is unique unto itself. A culture that is recognized and respected the world over. But due to the permeability, cultures cannot be solely confined to any one particular territory or region, any more than they can remain static. They flow and transform across borders and decades, altering and being altered by the already established culture. One example of this interweaving is the cultural exchange that occurred between the United States and Argentina during the early to mid 1900s. This new cultural form for both Argentina and the U.S. involved varied means and expressions. Prominently seen in the area of music and films, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... music with that of Latin America or even simply confined to music, cultures as a whole were blended together. People within the U.S. tended to see Latin America as one homogenous entity. This admixture is exemplified by the film Down Argentine Way from 1941, the first musical inspired by Roosevelt s Good Neighbor policy, which was originally titled Down in Rio. When the country was changed, the Brazilian singer Carmen Miranda remained, still singing in Portuguese. This lack of clarity or concern for specificity is again seen when bandleader Luis del Campo was headlining at a midtown nightclub, and the New York Times (1934) remarked: He is, they say, Chilean, and thereby qualified to conduct a show which leans toward rhumba rhythms. • 7. Psy 270 Week 5 Case Study Donovan For starters, one of the first measures that I would use as a means to intervene with Donovan would be something as simple as a phone call. According to the text, this is something that should be approached with caution, simply because, the client feeling that they are there for a quick fix, become lax, and wait for the clinician to pass judgement (Miller, Forechimes, Zweben, 2011). With this taken into consideration, I would gradually start to introduce the basic screening questions and set up an appointment time and location so that Donovan and I can meet and get this process started. I feel like with this particular approach it would more than likely provide him with the motivation to participate in the evaluation process. Would you agree? ... • 8. Richard III Deformities Richard III In Real Life Shakespeare used the physical deformities and the gray areas of history to create one of the most well known villains of all time. Shakespeare s play, Richard III, is the leading voice in the Richard III story. He is portrayed as an ugly villain, an image that is fueling the way people think, talk and reference Richard III. In reality he differed as a person, but many mysteries remain unsolved. The murder of the princes in the tower at the hand of Richard III is still undecided. In more recent terms we are able to see what he actually looked like and if his physical appearance played the role it did in real life. Richard III is an unloved king by many people even though we base most of our assumptions on a play. One of the most definitive differences between the play and history is Richard s appearance. Shakespeare writes about him as a deformed man , who uses his deformities as a crutch, ( Richard) Deformed, unfinish d, sent before my time Into this breathing world, scarce half made up, And that so lamely and ... The uncertainty leaves room for us to turn to the one source that is definitive, Shakespeare s play. Impact Of The Emancipation Proclamation The Emancipation Proclamation: The Union s Greatest Asset The Emancipation Proclamation was a document issued by President Lincoln, that emancipated slaves, and slowly crippled the Confederacy during the Civil War, due to how it affected the south economically and diplomatically. In the beginning of the Civil War, although, the Union possessed a larger, better equipped army, the Confederacy managed to secure victories on the battlefield. The war, which was thought to be a short one, lasted longer than expected. President Lincoln was quoted in 1862 about the Union s war efforts, saying, the bottom was out of the tub (Mast). This basically meant that the Union s economic situation was strained due to the war, and the military wasn t having the success that he had envisioned. President Abraham Lincoln was under immense pressure to give the military and Northern citizens hope that the war could be won by the Union. On March 4, 1861, Abraham Lincoln was elected as the 16th President of the United States. Southern politicians assumed that Lincoln would not take steps to abolish slavery immediately, they were correct, he didn t, but they pondered on whether he would change his mind in the years to come. I believe The Matrix answers some questions concerning serious life issues like, self doubting, taking revenge and taking a new path into your life. Self doubting makes us feel unwanted and unbelieving on your self when it comes to any situation. Taking revenge only takes place when somebody is mad at one another by mostly being jealous. Women were eventually viewed as a witch. Each culture had a different perception on what a witch looked like, but each represented the same thing. In essence, the witch craze brought about the dark side of a female. Some causes of witch craze in the fifteenth century would include hallucinations, people not wanting to be tortured and people needing something to blame misfortune on. Firstly, hallucinations occur as a result of the induction of hallucinogens into the blood stream. Some people have always wondered how witches got the stigma of being able to fly. During the witch craze, drugs were popular. With the hot topic of witch s, people who used drugs, hallucinated witches being able to fly. • 16. Baumol Model Of Cash Management It was developed by William J. Baumol. The model helps determine a firm s optimum cash balance under certainty. It is used for cash management. The model helps firms determine the optimum cash balances that they can keep by considering costs. The costs involved are holding costs (opportunity costs) and the transactional costs. Transactional costs are the costs incurred when changing between marketable security and cash. Holding costs are costs incurred when keeping cash. Opportunity costs are the costs incurred when the firm chooses to keep cash instead of buying securities. It is also known as interest rate because it is the interest rate that are foregone by the firm by not investing in marketable securities. Just like all most model, the Baumol model works with assumptions. The first assumption is that the firm must be able to forecast its cash requirements and receive a specific flow of cash at regular intervals. Its cash flows must be certain. The other assumption is that the firm must be able to change to change the securities that it owns into cash keeping the variable and fixed costs of transactions the same. • 20. The Cultural Differences In The Canadian Society During... There were three main groups that suffered and struggled through many obstacles and a lot of people setting them back; women, First Nations people, and immigrants and minorities. This prejudice caused a significant negative impact on the Canadian society during the 1920s. In the roaring twenties, many people believed that only white men should be treated with any respect because that was the status quo at the time. The status of women was improving as some women got the right to vote, a woman was elected a member of parliament, and women were now legally considered persons , but women were still treated horribly and with little respect or dignity. The First Nations people as a whole were greatly mistreated because of the federal government and the non first nations, Canadians believed that the First Nations people would be more content, giving up their religion, heritage, and culture and become more mainstream Canadian Christian. In addition, immigrants and minorities in Canada during this time also suffered greatly because of the prejudice against them and the fact that the Canadian government frowned upon all immigration that was not from another Commonwealth country, a European country, or did not involve white Americans. First of all when women started to do the same thing men did that had much of the Canadian population skeptical and afraid that these activities would make the women more masculine and nobody wanted that to happen. Many spectators attended the game[New Glasgow women s club defeated the Glacé Bay] out of curiosity to find out if the girls could keep house and cook well enough to attract a husband (Winnick, 40). Of course Canadian society mocked women who tried to step out of their comfort zones and try something new that could change the way people viewed women. Their perception of women as helpless and comparing them to thieves and minority groups rather than as equally intelligent and capable of the same things as the white men if not more. The status quo influenced women to stay fit, healthy, and good looking. It is an anthem of sorrow from the many people in the 1960 s who had to suffer through the devastating events that occurred in Birmingham that night. More than that specific night, the author elaborates on the normalcy of racism. The poem starts off with a courageous young girl who begs her mother to go with the people to march for freedom. The mother, of course, answers no due to the violence that was occurring in the town. Then finally, the girl asks to go to church, her mother without hesitation replies with a confident, yes. Towards the end of the 1990s the country experienced rising unemployment and decreasing wages. The privatization of industries in addition to the international debt and government corruption led to many citizens distrusting the government and failure to pay taxes thus keeping the problems still at large. Unfortunately, the fragile Argentine economic infrastructure, while seemingly strong, was not able to withstand the downturn in the world economy after the severe correction of the both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and NASDAQ stock markets in the United States in March 2000 and the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. The widespread economic failure caused the Argentine peso to become devalued and this caused extreme inflation in prices. In June of 2002 the peso was valued at just $0.26 of a U.S. dollar. The unemployment rates skyrocketed as well hitting over 25% in most parts of the country and the poverty rate increased from 30% in 1999 to over 50% in 2002. The article The White of Their Eyes: Racist Ideologies and the Media, written by Stuart Hall, Hall brings an attention to the perception of ideological ambiguity though discovering the typical mass media s function of establishing racial inequities, such as that the community accepts differential behaviors of people within the society as common sense. He first starts on describing ideology as a term that does not consist of individual thoughts, yet assembly of different basics that direct to a certain judgment or perception. As said by Hall, the representation of race in the mass media builds the positive and negative consequences of ideology by manufacturing and transforming the ideologies. This ideological ambiguity is often shaped when the mass media puts up a meaning of what race is for the audiences, what significance the images of race conveys, and how the issue of race is supposed to be recognized. In a straightforward phrase, mass media organizes our world as regards to racial groups; placing people into categories based upon their physical appearances and defined concepts that have been generally raised after a while. On the other hand, what is really striking about Hall s argument on the ideological ambiguity is that the importance of these conventional ideas of race cannot be compared with the ground breaking portrays of traditional form of race for which context is more appreciated or not in ... • 31. Twelve Who Ruled Essay Twelve Who Ruled Book Review The year of terror is one of the most complex and misunderstood periods in the French Revolution. Palmer, in his book, Twelve Who Ruled, however, takes this period and skillfully turns it into a written masterpiece. The book is narrated from the point of view of someone with an omniscient knowledge of the subject matter, who is reflecting back on the period from the outside. The book tells the story of a brief moment in history when twelve men (Robespierre, Barere, Saint Just, Couthon, Lindet, Carnot, Saint Andre, Prieur, Varenne, Herbois, Scholles, and Duvernois) ruled France; even though they were technically under the control of the Convention. ... After the personal history of each of the twelve men, Palmer moves right in and starts discussing how and why the Committee of Public Safety was formed, and how it came to power. After this, he maneuvers circumspectly into how the committee used this power to purge the nation of quot;counter revolutionaries, quot; who needed but offend the sensitive ears of Robespierre to be executed. He then moves along chronologically to the height of the Committee s power and eventually describes the decline and eventual demise of the reign of terror. This is signified by the execution of Robespierre, who was designated as the instigator of the terror. It is in his death that the terror culminated, and along with it, this book. This book is considerably effective as a narrative biography of the quot;Twelve Who Ruled. quot; Through his eloquent use of detail and his elegant ability to paint a superb picture which incorporates both the lives and actions of the men in power and the essence and accomplishments of the Committee of Public Safety as a whole he tells the story of the Reign of Terror. It is his intermixing of the two, along with his representation of the day that makes this book so quot;Thoroughly sound, eminently readable, quot; and representative of great narrative writing. • 36. The Economic Dequality In Corruption In Mexico THE (APPARENT) DECLINE IN CORRUPTION IN MEXICO Due to its current state, it is vital that one understands the political climate in which Mexico is currently struggling with, particularly in regards to the unfortunate corruption within the government. Although many different factors have contributed to this problem, the two of most relevance in this essay are the economic situation and the activities of the drug cartels. In addition to how these events have led up to this moment, it is also necessary to analyze how these can potentially affect issues such as NAFTA, immigration and the possible second rise of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). First and foremost, in order to make an educated comparison, it is important to consider the events that have led up to the current state of corruption within the Mexican government. One particular aspect of this issue would be the overall condition of the nation s economy and how inequality has contributed to the bigger issue. For starters, there is a noticeable divide between the rich and poor, and this income gap has not improved for quite some time. Although Mexico is a country with substantial wealth, the income inequality causes this wealth to be concentrated amongst a select few[X]. Such an imbalance creates friction between these groups of people due to this sort of systematic hierarchy in which not all citizens are presented with the same opportunities. The Similarities Between John Sloan And John Constable John Constable was born the in year 1776, in Suffolk, England, and was raised in the English countryside, which greatly influenced his later career as an artist. Almost one hundred years later, the artist John Sloan was born in 1871, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. His subsequent upbringing in the city of Philadelphia significantly shaped his later career, in a similar fashion to Constable. Both were brought up, not necessarily aspiring to be artists, but each found his passion for painting later in life. Despite having little formal training, they each went on to become one of the most noted artists of their times, each developing a fairly distinct style from the very beginnings their careers. From the start, Constable was more disposed toward landscape painting, mostly scenes of his family s properties that he had grown up on. • 38. Chronic And Complex Illness Important From A Nursing... 1. How is chronicity defined? Why is an illness rather than a disease approach to chronic and complex illness important from a nursing perspective? Discuss in regard to depression as co morbidity. Chronicity is generally used as an umbrella term of chronic illness or disease that refers to persistent impairments or disabilities deviating from normal life, which require long period of rehabilitation, supervision, observation and care (Lubkin Larsen 2006). However, in order to understand its complex context, the distinct difference between disease and illness should be understood (Johnson Chang 2008; Lubkin Larsen 2006). Disease can be defined as the pathophysiology of the condition, which refers to changes in structure and function (Lubkin Larsen 2006). However, the context of illness is much broader than disease, as it mainly focuses on symptoms and human experience that includes how individuals perceive and live with and respond to diseases including carers and health professionals (Johnson Chang 2008; Lubkin Larsen 2006). Therefore, chronic illness is often considered as irreversible and incurable condition, which requires ongoing care and attention on all aspects of the person s life (Johnson Chang 2008). The medical cure of chronic disease is not considered in nursing s domain, but a nurse can make a difference in individuals and their families experiences of chronic illness as a member of the multidisciplinary team (Lubkin Larsen 2006).
