Causes And Effects Of The Holocaust
What happened when Germany conquered its neighboring territories? They caused a whole war to
take place. This paper will discuss the Holocaust; why it took place, what happened during, and the
effects.
The Holocaust and a war took place because of Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party. They believed
the Jewish people and other groups were inferior to the Germans and a threat to society
(History.com). The Nazis thought of them as a race, and not a religious group (Berenbaum). They
also blamed the Jewish for the country s defeat in World War Iin 1918. Because of this hatred
towards the Jewish people, Adolf Hitler wanted a European war that would end the Jewish
communities in Germany and cause racial purity and expansion of his power (History.com). Adolf
Hitler gained his power to do so when he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After he became chancellor, Adolf Hitler fought his way to become the Fuhrer , also known as
Germany s supreme ruler (History.com). This gave Hitler enough power to cause Germany to
invade its neighboring territories, such as Poland and the Soviet Union. Several years later, the
Nazi Party met in Berlin to discuss their plan about the murdering of the Jewish people. They
named their plan the Final Solution of the Jewish Question. The Nazis carefully planned each stage
of the Final Solution before it ever began. This plan also went over how the Jewish people were to
be identified from the rest of the crowd (The Holocaust). To put this plan into action the SA,
(Sturmabteilungen in German, or Storm Troopers) and the SS (Schutzstaffel in German, or
Protection Squadrons) were made to create concentration camps for incarcerating political
opponents of the Nazis (Concentration Camps). To get Germans into identifying the Jewish people
in their community, the Nazis tricked them

Separation Of Public Spaces In To Kill A Mockingbird By...
The South was a volatile place when concerning the separation of the white and black
communities. Laws were put into place to solidify the separation of the races while providing
equal opportunity to all. However, these laws, known as the Jim Crow laws, were ratified to give
the illusion of equality while allowing for separation to continue. Though the image these laws
held gave the impression of equality, while the people did not hold equal status. To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee explores the racial tensions of separate but equalthroughout the novel
and how these ideas affected the daily lives of those who lived during this time. Separation of
public spaces and the relationships between the people themselves are small examples of the
realities of the laws effects on real people in the South. The Jim Crow laws perpetuated the racial
tension of the South rather than alleviating the problems by sacrificing equality for the social norm
of separation.
The physical separation of the white and black races was of great concern in the South and how
each of the races would interact with one another. This separation included preferential treatment of
white individuals over their black counterparts. While the people filed into the courthouse waiting
for the trial in To Kill a Mockingbird, the Negros, having waited for the white people to go upstairs,
began to come in (Lee 186). The physical separation continued as the Colored balcony ran along
three walls of the courtroom

China Yuan Becoming Reserve Currency
Market Liberalization... with Chinese Characteristics:
Can the Chinese Yuan become a Global Reserve Currency?

Abstract
China s economy is growing ever larger, but is that enough to get the Chinese Renminbi (more
commonly known as Yuan) to be accepted as a global market currency? This paper will look into
the liberalization, but with Chinese characteristics, of five determining factors in becoming a
country whose currency is a global reserve currency. These factors are as follows: economic size,
macroeconomic policies, flexible exchange rates, financial market development, and finally having

dollar. In 2005, China announced the move stating it was a move towards allowing the Yuan to
eventually float freely. However, China still maintained intense government control by abandoning
its peg to the U.S. dollar and simply moving it to link with a handful of other world currencies
(Schuman, 2012).
So while this step may have paved the way towards a floating currency, it was s step taken that
also kept in place a way for tight government control and regulation. Then, in 2008 to help curb the
effects of the global financial crisis, China s economy once again pegged it s currency to the U.S.
dollar. Since, China has removed that peg and in 2010 again announced to the world that is was
committed to resuming reforms of the Yuan exchange rate and increasing currency flexibility
(China Daily, 2010).
It seems that with flexible exchange rates in China, it feels like two steps forward, one step
backwards. While they are indeed moving toward a floating exchange rate, it is a slow going
process filled with exhaustive government control and regulation.
Financial Market Development
Having a relatively liquid market is important for financial market development in order to attract
foreign investors. To broaden the influence and liquidity of the Yuan, China has signed several
(while limited) currency and central bank liquidity swap deals with multiple countries including
Argentina, Belarus, Indonesia, New

Recently, my folks wanted me to cut back on sugary foods and start eating healthier foods in a
regular basis (like a strict diet regime). For one reason, my grandfather had prostate cancer last
year, although he is recovering and now healthy.
My goal is to do the three day challenge so I can calculate myself how much I eat and/or drink
and analyze the data. For energy, I need to consume 1997 kcalories, 65.32 grams of protein,
between 213 grams and 308 grams of carbohydrates, and between 42 grams and 73 grams of total
fat. For fat, I need to consume less than 19 grams of saturated fat. For carbohydrates, I need to
consume 38 grams of fiber. For vitamins, I need to consume 1.2 milligrams of thiamin, 1.3
milligrams of riboflavin, 16 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, on Tuesday, for breakfast, I ate one apple that contains 95 kcalories. For lunch, I ate one
serving of chicken pot pie that contains 542 kcalories. For dinner, I ate two pieces of pork chops
that contains 347 kcalories per two servings (including 173.5 kcalories per one serving of pork
chops), one cup of corn that contains 157 kcalories, and one cup of water that contains 0 calories
per 8 ounces.
After all that food consuming for three straight days, here are my results. For energy, I
consumed 2,720.67 kcalories (136%), 133.12 grams of protein (204%), 306.62 grams of
carbohydrates (100%; perfect!), and 110.8 grams of total fat (152%). For fat, I consumed 36.31
grams of saturated fat (191%), 41.48 grams of monounsaturated fat, 22.55 grams of
polyunsaturated fat, and 0.07 grams of trans fatty acid. For carbohydrates, I consumed 26.47

What Is The Power Of The Media On The Central Park Five Case

The Power of the Media on the Central Park Five Case
From the start, the media s influence in the Central Park Five case is very evident . Before the
adolescents were even sent to trial, the media had already portrayed the teens as criminals and had
essentially declared them guilty of the crime. The way newspapers and television covered the case
and talked about the boys made it clear that their intentions were to make people believe these
five teenage boys were, in fact, guilty. They used words like savages and wolf pack to give the
audience the impression that these teenage boys were not good people; they gave them a bad
image before they could actually explain themselves. By using words like the ones above, the
media dehumanizes the teenage boys. These kinds of phrases and words are what will catch the
reader s attention and, in some cases, the reader might actually forget that these articles are talking
about actual human beings and not a wolf pack .
For the most part, the headlines that were printed covering this case automatically made the
reader see the boys in a negative way because all of them gave the boys this monstrous image.
Even if the article was not one that was against the boys, the readers would still get this bad
feeling about them because of the way these editors decided to structure their title. The title is
meant to catch the reader s attention, and what better way to do that then with a headline that
depicted these teens as savages and associated them with the word gang . By doing this, the
reader already has a bad image of these teenage boys going into the reading. This will cause them
to only pay attention to the negative aspects of these boys and not the whole picture like they are
suppose to.
There was an article written by Maria Konnikova that explains exactly why authors choose to
incorporate specific words in their headline or why they choose certain headlines. In her article
titled How Headlines Change the Way We Think, Konnikova looks to bring more attention to
misleading headlines. She explains how headlines influence people s minds to look at to read
articles in certain ways. These titles brought

Box Trailers
Before spending your hard earned money on box trailers for sale, it is necessary to consider
several important factors, including a trailer meeting your requirement, size and cost. You may
face several other types of problems while selecting the perfect trailer matching your needs. In
addition, when you will be exploring the market in search of box trailers for sale, you may come
across different types of trailers that could leave you more confused.
You will make the right decision only if you have knowledge about all kinds of trailers or there s
an expert with you. In addition to that, you must be aware of places where you could get the best
box trailers at cost effective prices. If this is leading to confusion, here s a guide that may help you
in searching for the perfect box trailer for your requirement:
Why to Buy a New Trailer? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You should ask yourself if you are ready to stop using the current trailer and look for the new.
Start your search only if you are sure about the new purchase. In addition to that, figure out what
purposes your new trailer is going to serve. Decide what should be its towing capacity and how
long you will need it. Decide New or Old?
Box trailers are perfect equipment pieces to have, but it is also necessary to figure out how
much you could spend on them. You could decide this by determining if you need the trailer for
long run, or for a short time. In addition to that, you could check both new and old trailers to
know about materials used to create them. A trailer with good material will last for a long time,
even if it is second hand. While looking for used trailers, you may come across trailers that are
still under warranty. It is good to spend on them as they could help you in saving some bucks with
the warranty for some more years.

Sigmund Freud s Psychodynamic Theory
Sigmund Freud s psychodynamic theory can be described as a view that explains personality in
terms of conscious and unconscious forces such as unconscious desires and beliefs (Chegg
Study). Sigmund Freud developed this theory in the early 20th century based on the assumption
that our unconscious desires influence many of our actions in our everyday lives (McLeod
2009). In addition, another assumption of Freud s that contributed to this theory was that our
childhood experiences influence us greatly and make us into the person we are today. Freud
proposed the psychodynamic theory according to which personality consisted of the Id, the
super ego and the ego (McLeod 2009). The Id is the pleasure principle concerned with instincts
and pleasure and operates by primary processes which thereby, does not take into account the
reality principle (McLeod 2009). For example, if you were extremely thirsty; instead of going to
buy a bottle of water or refilling your own bottle, you would drink from someone else s water
bottle without their permission and without them knowing. This example demonstrates how the
Id principle operates without taking into account what is socially acceptable in order to satisfy a
need. The ego is the reality principle which not only operates by secondary processes concerned
with reason and logic, but also mediates between the Id and super ego according to reality
(McLeod 2009). For example, in the same scenario, instead of drinking from someone else s water

The Biomass Energy Conversion Technologies
4.3Biomass Energy Conversion Technologies
Biomass materials can be converted to various useful forms of energy such as heat, electricity and
liquid fuels. The technologies used to convert biomass into energy ranged widely from the simple
combustion of biomass used for cooking and heating in developing countries to a variety of
technologies to generate modern energy carriers electricity, gas, and liquid bio fuels. Canada is
using various materials including waste and residuals to generate electricity, heat and, bio liquid
fuels (bio ethanol and biodiesel) (Defra UK et al. 2007). Biomass energy can be used at the
household ( 10 kW), community ( 100 kW), or industrial ( MW) scale. Key biomass energy
conversion technologies include thermal and thermochemical, and biological and biochemical.
Thermal and Thermochemical Technologies o Combustion convert forestry, agricultural and
municipal residues into heat and power under environmentally sound conditions o Gasification
convert forestry, agricultural and municipal residues into syngas o Pyrolysis convert forestry and
agricultural residues into bio oils and value added products o Thermal and Catalytic Processing
convert a variety of new and used vegetable oils; tall oils; waste greases and animal fats into

Reflections on Research Based Writing Essay
If we understand library users as readers who write, we should reflect on when and why they write.
Generally, most users in academic libraries engage in writing based on research or research based
writing. How are we to understand this particular genre that consumes so many users time and
instructors assessment.
Consider first what research based writing is not. It is not creative writing, although creative writers
will often research some aspect of their subject. It is not journalistic writing, although the journalist
makes steady use of sources. It is not writing for publication, since it seldom finds an audience of
more than five. It is not an essay, although it has a beginning, middle, and end. Eliminating these
options, what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author s opinions will be based on reasons and evidence, not emotions or hearsay. The author
s reasoning will follow the principles of Western reasoning, if only informally. The evidence used
will have a logical link to the reasons they support. Evidence itself will be a verifiable fact.
Furthermore, research based writing seeks a plausible (not conclusive) answer to a question of
interest to the readers. The overarching purpose for writing is to show why the reader should
accept that answer. This includes acknowledging and responding to possible alternative answers to
the question. Others ideas are used to find or support claims, reasons, or evidence but cannot to be
presented as the writer s own. Even though the writer may come to the same conclusion as others
who have addressed the issue before, he or she must present the answer and its supporting reasons
as the product of an one s own investigation, being careful to acknowledge when and how others
contributions have been utilized. The reader expects to see all this written in standard edited
English with few (or no) errors in spelling, grammar, or punctuation.
Often research based writing is a solitary exercise. For non academics and many librarians,
research based writing has been rarely practiced outside the classroom, and many of the processes
may not be familiar or practiced only informally. It requires a basic skill set that new students may
have learned at

JIT Project
Making a list of the problems in this case will give us a better view of what is going wrong with
the JIT project.
1. Supplier management expert not working out
2. Stakeholder conflict about tasks execution
3. People complaining of lack of communication
4. IT overallocation for critical path tasks
5. Supplier management intro course prototype was not well received
6. Possibility of increased cost by seller of the course
As we can see, there are numerous issues with this project. Does this mean that the project is
headed for failure? I would argue not necessarily. Surely, if this list of issues is not addressed, the
likelihood of the project failure will skyrocket.
We can see that numbers 1 and 4 are HR issues. For #1, the PM and HR would need to sit down
with the expert and either fix the problem, or look for another expert. There are pro s and con s to
both of these options, so it would be preferrable to keep the expert but fix the problem. Hiring a
new SME would cost additional time and money to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, the PM should again go through this list and address each one in their own way.
1. Fix the SME problem, ensuring that the project team and sponsor are aware of the issue
2. Explain to the stakeholders why the team has decided to execute tasks and the reasons for not
doing it another way. Stakeholders aren t the ones managing the project and need to trust in the
project manager and project team.
3. Figure out where the communication breakdown is an fix it. I would argue that in this case,
there appears to be a lack of communication on all fronts and that it is detrimental to a project of
any type.
4. Whatever the fix is, it must be communicated to the project sponsor and stakeholders as to why
there is either an increase in budget or porject duration. I explained the issues

There is a match at R[4],R[9] R[18]. Neglect already visited elements. Hence b(0)=[0,4,9,18).
Repeat step 1 with the remaining elements of the bin of step 2 and store them in the same bin. This
will form one bin.
Here, Step 1 is repeated with other elements of bin ie. 4, 9 and 18 values. For elements 4 19, there
is no match of values in R[27]. For element 18, there is a match at R[6], R[7], R[12], R[15]. Thus
the bin b(0) is updated to (0, 4, 9, 18, 3, 6, 7, 12, 15).
We continue to do so till all the elementsof the bin are visited.
So, elements 3, 12 and 15 have no match. But element 6 has a match at R[1], R[2], R[10] and
R[19]. Element 7 has a match at R[5].
Hence, the updated bin after all computations. b(0) is (0,4,9,3,6,7,1,2,10,11,19,5,12,15,18,21)
Now the procedure is repeated for the next element of the sequence 1 which has not been visited
earlier. The other bins formed are: b(1) = (8, 14, 20, 23,24,25) b(2) = (13) b(3) = (26,16,17, 22)
Advantages of this algorithm: It is nearly impossible to extricate the original information. Even if

Mechanical influence of the combine Chief Bromden believes that Nurse Ratched is able to
turn on a fog machine that fills the whole ward with fog, obscuring his vision. Because of his
schizophrenia, this fog is clearly shown to be a hallucination, but it carries great symbolic
meaning. The fog machines in the ward are reminiscent of the Chief s time in the army, where
fog machines were used to obscure the airfields. He says that while the fog machines were
operating, you couldn t see nothing but white (p 131). The fog symbolises the anonymity that
results from conforming to the rules of the ward, and the Chief uses this anonymity to protect
himself from the punishments of Nurse Ratched. It also symbolises when he loses grip of
reality, either as a result of his medication or out of fear. The rules and regulations of the ward

Free Market Capitalism in The United States
INTRODUCTION The US has been leading the world economy with its model of free market
capitalism for last three decades. We have been told that, if left alone, markets will produce the
most efficient and effective outcome. Because individuals know what the best way is and they
are the ones who will be rewarded according to their productivity. Therefore, maximized freedom
and minimized state intervention have been regarded as the most beautiful contribution to
economic development. However, not all neo liberal countries have achieved the expected
outcome, in fact, most of them resulted in big failures. The growth rates of Latin America and
Africa, which had been higher than other developing nations, dropped by over 60 percent after
they embraced IMF sponsored neo liberalism in the 1980 s . Especially in Latin America, neo
liberal policies were applied in the time. The result was that Latin America s per capita GDP fell
by an average 0.5 percent a year for 10 years. Meanwhile, the growth rate of countries that state
deeply intervenes its economy such as Northern Europe countries, China, Brazil and Singapore
have enormously increased. Especially China s historic success along with the strong recent
economic performance of Russia and several Persian Gulf states has renewed interest in the hybrid
economic model. Those phenomena can t be explained by free market capitalism ideology.

Vaccines Of Vaccines For Other Diseases
Every year, vaccines save more than 2.5 million children, which is similar to about 285 every
hour; however, not everyone in the world believes that vaccines are safe (ProCon). In 1796,
British Doctor Edward Jenner created the first vaccine to prevent smallpox by noticing that the
milkmaids who were exposed to cowpox were immune to it (Ballarlo). Scientists realized the
importance of this and began to research on the creation of vaccines for other illnesses.
Unexpectedly, it was French chemist Louis Pasteur who, while researching why there is spoilage in
wine, found germs (Burge). From that discovery, he speculated that if germs could be found in
wine, then it can probably be found in animals, plants, and humans too. This was how... Show more

His experiment consisted of two people, a young milkmaid who had cowpox and an eight year
old boy. Firstly, he used the young milkmaid to infect the eight year old boy by taking cowpox
matter (Ballarlo) from the milkmaid and injecting it into the boy s arm. A week after the
inoculation, the boy became ill, but that only lasted a day. With that confirmation, Jenner
experimented with cowpox. At first, he was hesitant, because he was afraid that his theory might
be wrong, which would lead to the death of the boy. In the end, the boy stayed healthy for weeks
and that was when Jenner concluded his theory was right. He named his discovery vaccine after the
Latin word for cowpox, but scientists and researchers adapted this name to describe any agent that
was able help people build immunity towards diseases by injecting a milder version of the disease.
It was not until Pasteur s discovery that vaccines were able to defend against more diseases.
Pasteur had been looking for a way to create a vaccine for anthrax, a type of disease in sheeps
and cattle, when a scientist sent him a head of a rooster that had died of chicken cholera, asking
him to help find a way to prevent it. He accepted this challenge and found a way of growing
chicken cholera germs in culture by putting germs into a container of chicken broth. However, they
had to constantly grow more of these

Impact Of The Chinese Exclusion Act On Chinese Immigrants...
Impact of the Chinese Exclusion Act on Chinese immigrants and immigration policy
The Chinese Exclusion Act was established in 1882, in which the first time United States prevent a
group of immigrants with nationality (Lee 4), marked United States from welcoming nation to an
enclosed and discriminative nation, has monumental impact on each Chinese immigrants and
culture of the entire American Chinese community (6). The poor conditions and lack of
opportunities in the 19th century China and the Chinese s hope of accumulating wealth to support
their families in China fostered the huge influx of Chinese immigrants to United States. The
discovery of gold in California also fuelled many Chinese s dream of fast wealth (112). Due to the
need for mass labour stemming from industrialization and high productivity of Chinese labours,
employers would enthusiastically hire Chinese labour, which in turn sparked the increasing
competition with the local workers and a growing anti Chinese sentiment (114).
It is crucial to recognize the huge toll the Chinese Exclusion Act took on Chinese immigrants and
Chinese Americans, and the negative influence of racialization it had on immigration policy of
other countries. In this paper, I will discuss the consequences of the Chinese Exclusion Act on
Chinese culture and society in the United States, regarding to the isolation of Chinese society in
U.S., paper identities and lives of illegal Chinese immigrants and how this Act guided the

The Disaster Recovery Plan And A Business Continuity Plan
Compared and contrasted business continuity plans with disaster recovery plans
A disaster recovery plan and a business continuity plan, are very important to all business and
their marketing plan. These plans provide detail strategies on how the business will continue to
operate, before, doing and after a disaster. About 25% of business that do not have these plans and
are hit by a disaster, fail to reopen. (Smith, n.d.). This is why a disaster and recovery and business
continuity plan are important to a business if they wish to withstand a disaster and reopen with
little or no problem.
The Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) provides comprehensive strategy on the actions that employees

Media Portrayal Of The Media
Media deteriorating life of developing teens
Rapid changes in a young developing body can be crucial, leaving long term health issues that
are difficult to reverse and possibly lead to death. Today s media has an immense influence on
how teens view themselves in regards to what is considered beautiful. Exposure to the media has
pressured teens to feel like they need to change their body image to be model perfect and fit what
the media considers beautiful . Media portrayal of beauty and youth can cause insecure teens to
alter their diet and lifestyles causing serious mental and physical health issues. Often these changes
can be drastic causing the body to freak out and not work the same way it used to. The effects of
rapid changes would be depression, weight gain, weight loss, weak immune systems and collapsing
organs.
Many times depression in teens is a result of the constant need of feeling like they have to alter
their weight, curves, fitness, and overall self image. The media tends to portray the skinny girls
as popular, while unpopular girls are shown with a muffin top. A young teen who is not a size
two or below will examine online resources for the diet that will produce the quickest results.
These types of quick, drastic changes can be very unhealthy and cause adverse affects to the
body. A tidal wave can portray the feeling of descending from the progress made. This can cause
doubt of ever being a smaller weight (raiding out your kitchen), or it can lead to

The Creation of Gods
The Creation of Gods
To every mythology, there has to be a beginning. Mythology is stories that can bring that hero
look to kids or even adults. The story of the gods, even the leader or the strongest god has a
weakness, also every god has a father and a mother that created them. Nobody, knows how they
were created, but that is why this essay, or story was created. Zeus was born by the titans Cronus
and Rhea. Cronus was evilly known for being a very jealous and greedy person. Cronus feared
that one of his children could take his crown and throne, Cronus had eaten every child born Rhea
was giving birth to. However, Rhea gave birth to her last boy, Zeus. Rhea managed to trick
Cronus with the help of Uranus and Gaea. She put together a fake baby with a rock in a pile of
clothes to swallow, and sent Zeus away to the Greek island of Crete. Curetes a special demon made
noise by hitting his shields, so that Cronus would to not hear the crying baby.
Zeus was raised secretly by Nymphs and was fed with honey and milk from the goat women
Amaltheia with the help of her broken horn. When Zeus was old enough to claim the Kingdom of
the World and he started a war against Cronus and the Titans. First, Zeus managed to rescue his
older brothers and sisters from his father s stomach by giving him a special medicine and making
him throw up his children. ( Greek Mythology. ).

What goods and services does a government want to provide? To what extent does it believe in
subsidizing firms? What are its priorities in terms of business support? Political decisions can
impact on many vital areas for business such as the education of the workforce, the health of the
nation and the quality of the infrastructure of the economy such as the road and rail system. *
Economic Factors
These include interest rates, taxation changes, economic growth, inflation and exchange rates. As
it can be seen throughout the Foundations of Economics book economic change can have a
major impact on a firm s behavior. For examples, * higher interest rates may deter investment
because it costs more to borrow * a strong currency may make exporting more difficult because it
may raise the price in terms of foreign currency * inflation may provoke higher wage demands
from employees and raise cost * national income growth may boost demand for a firm s products
* Social Factors
Changes in social trends can impact on the demand for a firm s products and the availability and
willingness of individuals to work. In the UK, for example, the population has been ageing. This
has increased the costs for firms who are committed to pension payments for their employees
because their staff is living longer.
It also means some firms such as Asda have started to recruit older employees to tap into this
growing labor pool. The

What Are The Similarities Between The Julius Caesar And...
The last century of the Roman Republic holds two of greatest political alliances in history, the
First Triumvirate, created in 60 BC, and the Second Triumvirate, created in 43 BC. While the
circumstances and actions of these two unions are very different, they tend to have vey similar
trends. Three men come together to increase their political power, take control of the Republic,
and fight against a particular group that opposes them. First, we shall look at the creations of these
two alliances, as they seem to have distinct similarities. The characters that fill these two coalitions,
a brilliant politician, a military commander, and a successful senator, share similar qualities in
themselves. Finally, they both end in a similar fashion, as the two more successful men fight for
control of the Roman State. In 60 BC Gaius Julius Caesarreturned to Rome from his governorship
of Hispania Ulterior. There he has successfully campaigned against local tribes and given a
triumph. Roman law stated that generals given a triumph had to stay outside the city until the
triumph commenced, but Caesar also wanted to run for the consulship of 59 BC, which he had to
be in the city to declare. The Senate, led by Cato, denied his request to run in absentia, so Caesar
gave up his triumph to become a candidate. Caesar had a lot of opposition against him in the
senate, especially from the optimates. The greatest Roman general in 60 BC is Gneaus Pompeius, a
man given the title Magnus (The Great)

Woodblock Printing During The Tokugawa Period
During the Tokugawa or Edo period, the arts flourished, especially a certain art style called
woodblock prints. Woodblock printing originated in China as a method to mass produce texts.
When the technology migrated to Japan, they used it to produce copies of the same picture
quickly. The process involved laying the same print over different woodblocks to add layers to
the image and create a complete picture. This process was time consuming and took a lot of skill
to master since you had to lay the paperprecisely every time. Because of this, the prints were
usually expensive and mainly owned by royalty and the upper class. The prints usually depicted the
everyday life of both commoners and nobility. The woodblock prints of the Tokugawa period...

This print is an image of female touts, someone who solicits businesses, dragging travellers into
their teahouse. In the image we can see a traveler already sitting just outside the teahouse and a
woman cleaning his feet. From this we can interpret that the people were very clean and sanitary
because she is ridding his feet of grime before entering the tea house, or that they were religious.
In Shintoism, one of the main beliefs is in a form of ritual purification stating that you should
wash yourself to prevent bad spirits from entering somewhere, in this case, the teahouse. The
other thing we can analyze from this print is that despite the fact that it was a male dominated
society, the women did have quite a bit of power. In the previous paragraph, we could see that
men were the dominant sex, but in some cases, women did have power over men and that they
had some power in general, especially compared to other cultures at the time. In the print, we can
see women literally dragging travelers into their teahouse, which shows they did had some
dominance and power over a man. We can also see this because the teahouse seems to be run and
owned by only women, which tells us that women had enough power and rights to run their own
business without a man telling them what to do and how to run

Comparing Fyodor Dostoevsky s The Gambler And The...
Extended Essay Draft
Group 1: Category 2
In what ways are love and avarice intertwined in both novels and to what extent does it effect the
development of the main characters?
By: Nikhil Kassum
Table of Contents:
Introduction (Page 3)
Body Paragraphs (Page 4)
Conclusion (Page 13)
Introduction: At first glance, it is understandable to assume that Fyodor Dostoevsky s The Gambler
and F.Scott Fitzgerald s The Beautiful and Damned are incomparable and unrelated in every way.
However, when exploring in detail the character development in each novel, an alternate verdict can
be presented that shows, beyond peradventure, that both novels share similarities. Granted, The
Gambler is about a tutor working for a Russian family and his evolution into a pathological
gambler, where as The Beautiful and Damned is concentrated on the relationship of a wealthy
young couple in the Roaring 20 s who taste the bittersweet consequences of extravagance as the
book traces their mental, moral and physical disintegration. Nevertheless, both novels explore
depression as a concomitant of the amalgamation between love and avarice. Both Dostoevsky and
Fitzgerald, through different settings, character and circumstances, have created a grandiose
psychological portrait of unrequited love as well as depression through addiction and loss. The
Gambler is a semi autobiographical, first person narrative novel written by Fyodor Dostoevsky

Fabrication Lies In Propaganda
There are many types of lies. The numerous kinds helps one to describe a specific sort with only a
few words. This paper will examine more closely one of these types, a fabrication. More precisely
fabrication lies and their presence in propaganda, such as in a pamphlet produced by The Flying
Squadrons of Speakers .
Fabrication lies are most clearly defined as lies that could be true, but the one who states them is
not basing them on any real direct knowledge, they may also be a falsification of the truth in a
plausible way (1). What makes fabrication lies so interesting then, is that if the fabrication is in
actuality an accurate statement then the one who stated the fabrication is not in fact lying despite
their intent to mislead. The definition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Flying Squadron of Speakers (FSS) was an organization of citizens formed after the First
World War to promote The American way through oratory propaganda. In this paper a pamphlet
produced by the FSS to attract new members will be analyzed. The most titillating aspect of this
pamphlet is that it is essentially a propaganda piece promoting the need for more propaganda. Its
xenophobic pages concentrate on reminding its readers that the immigrant must learn how to be an
American, and that propaganda is the best way to do so.
The pamphlets most repeated fabrication is that all foreigners that have arrived on the shores of
America are completely ignorant of the way of the American, and thus sow
Anti Americanisms, in particular Bolshevism and Communism (3, pg. 5). There can be no doubt
that some immigrants did do this, but to imply that all did is simply inaccurate, a twisted but still
plausible to those panicked enough, take on reality. This example could also be classified as an
exaggeration lie, however because no evidence is cited to support the claim on the part of the FSS,
it is clear that this statement was made without any true knowledge of the situation, allowing this
statement to also fall under the category of falsification. In contradiction to this claim only 0.038
percent of the population was a member of the Socialist Party of America in 1919 when this
pamphlet was published (4), (5). One could hardly claim that this was an impending revolution as
the FSS does. This suggests that the claims being made in this pamphlet are uneducated, without
any tangible base in the reality of the

Einhard, in his account of Charlemagne, and Ibn Battuta, in his account of Mansa Sulaiman, give
witness to the way these two kings ruled their lands and provide an insight on how culture has an
effect on people s views of their leaders. Although each one lived in different cultures, each ruler
embodied similar characteristics, such as the influence of religionon their realms. However, there
are several distinct differences as well, and each narrative contains cultural bias that cannot be

In a similar vein, Mansa Sulaiman is portrayed as embodying his religion, except within the
context of the Islamic religion. Like Charlemagne, the sultan was involved with religious
ceremonies. Since he lived in a place governed by Sharia Law, there was no separation of Church
and State. Thus, unlike in Einhard, there was an established religious hierarchy in this realm.
Mansa Sulaiman participated in religious festivals and services, such as the Feast of Sacrifices
and the Feast of Fast breaking. In his domain, strict observance of times of prayer and
memorization of the Quran were a top priority. Children who appeared to be falling short of
learning the Quran by heart had fetters made for them, and people must come early to pray at the
mosque or they will not be able to find a spot because of the multitude that will be gathered there.
However, Ibn Battuta witnessed some characteristics that he perceived as unbecoming of a Muslim
ruler. For instance, he was uncharitable, even to the point that his subjects became angry about his
miserliness. Ibn Battuta was personally affected by this quality when he arrived in the sultan s city,
and received no hospitality from the sultan, save a small amount of food. There were also aspects
of paganism that survived from the culture preceding Islam in this country. For instance, the people
ate animals that were not ritually slaughtered, and the sultan provided a slave woman to cannibals

Analysis of the Painting Late Northern Song emperior...
Cranes above Kaifeng or Auspicious Cranes is a hand scroll attributed to one of the most artistic
important figure: Late Northern Song Emperor Huizong (Sturman, 1990). This painting was
made to commemorate a rare phenomenon where 20 cranes flying on the sky above the main
gate of the palace, Kaifeng, on the day of Lantern Festival on the year 1112. This phenomenon
was believed as a Mandate of Heaven under the rule of Emperor Huizong (IBID). This auspicious
phenomenon, however, might not be as magical as it seems since Cranes above Kaifeng mirrors
Emperor Huizong s 3 aspects of painting that shows Emperor Huizong s power on art during his

In other words, although he promoted realism, Cranes above Kaifeng is still subjected to
interpretation. In the painting, the cranes were dancing in an elegant and formally
choreographed dance above the city gates among the magical clouds (Ars orientalis). Seeing
this, it might not be convincing to say that the painting is based on a real life event since it is
close to impossible for the cranes to dance in an exact beautiful formation. Although, it is not
unlikely that Huizong did see cranes above the city gates but he saw or imagine them as if they
were dancing instead of just flying through. Intentionally or not, he then depicted the event so
beautifully in the hand scroll and interpreted it as Mandate of Heaven. Furthermore, during
Huizong s reign, he focused a lot on these auspicious signs and even developed a record of these
by having the citizens to report the sightings (ars orientalis). It was like a documentation of the
blessings that were given to the Song (kertas selembar). This system, however, made it seems like
these auspicious events were forced and did not happen naturally. This is quite fascinating
because it seemed like Huizong wanted to control Heaven s blessings and as long as the people
believed him, it did not really matter whether those auspicious events were not true. The
documentation or record that was produced acted like evidence that Song is blessed and Huizong
was indeed a legitimate leader. This

directly or indirectly affected by aerosols, clouds, and precipitation, and thus, modulate the Earth s
radiation and surface energy balance. Therefore, global observations of aerosols, clouds, and
precipitation are crucial not only to better understand the processes involved in the climate system
but also to predict the future climate change.
Satellite remote sensing as a tool can be very valuable to acquire such global observations of
aerosols, clouds, and precipitation for monitoring Earth s climate system. In particular, some of the
regions in the Earth are not easily accessible to obtain in situ data while on those regions; space
borne instruments can act as complimentary data sources. Besides, large scale data mapping and
monitoring are only feasible with space based observations.
A good progress has been made in the recent years in dealing with remote sensing of the aerosols,
clouds, and precipitation using satellite measurements for global observations. Notably, the remote

Javert Rebellion Quotes
After being set free for an act of crime he has committed, Javert realizes that his ideals on duty
and that all criminals are unjust may not be as absolute as he once believed. After capturing JVJ
for the first time, he makes it his life goal to put an end to JVJ. He follows him around Europe
and even becomes a spy to see JVJ. When he get s caught for being a spy by the revolutionaries
in the war, he is sentenced to death and JVJ is the one to kill him. However, JVJ only pretends to
kill him, and he lets Javertfree. Javert knows that getting killed would have been the right thing to
do according to the law, but he can t help by notice that duty was growing weaker in his
conscience.... He saw before him two roads, both equally straight, but he saw two, and... Show more

Javert s ideas were overturned. (pg 530/531) Javert depicts his thoughts as a rebellion because
they are going against his lifelong beliefs and it begins to irritate him . He knows that having one
distinct outcome for anyone who has committed a crime would be the easy way out of things, but
he is unable to control himself from now thinking that there is more than one right answer. He had
always believed that strict authority and giving people sentences was the right call for every case
he had, but now these phrases show less of an impact due to his overturned ideas. It is in this
moment that Hugo shows the change that is brewing within Javert, as he is beginning to not only
realize that there is more that one solution to those who commit crimes, but he s beginning to make
an effort to perform actions that show he does believe in second chances. Javert knows that time is
running out and he must make a decision on what to do with JVJ

Genicon Case Summary
Genicon is a firm with ten years of domestic experience and some actual global success. Genicon
was successful in America, but it quickly understood that it would be hard for them to have viable
growth, because the health care buys medical equipment through GPOs. As a small firm it was
tough to obtain a contract from GPOs since their financial arrangement encouraged them to buy
equipment from big companies. Consequently, Genicon decided to go global and catch growing
demand there. It became the smallest firm to sell products to European clients with the assistance
of BSI. Genicon is already in over thirty international markets and is looking in particular at the
rapidly emerging markets Brazil, Russia, India and China as potential new opportunities... Show

The simplicity of doing business index evaluates the influence of direct policies disturbing
businesses in a particular nation. According to the index, China was ranked the 89th out of 185
countries, whereas Russia, Brazil and India were graded the 120th, the 129th, and the 133rd,
respectively. Therefore, China is the best option amongst the four in terms of providing a stable
business environment. However, there are two significant drawbacks surrounding the Chinese
regulatory framework that would critically concern GENICON. Firstly, the country has a track
record of not protecting foreign intellectual property rights. As the knowledge base for the medical
devices that GENICON are carrying is readily available, local manufacturers can effortlessly start
manufacturing nearly indistinguishable products and sell them at lower prices. Second, policy
implementation in China is often escorted with deflection, as implementation measures are carried
out in unpredictable and contradictory manners. Unavoidably, the uncertainty around the regulatory
system creates additional legal risks. As exhibit 3 shows, the corruption perceptions score ratifies
the lack of transparency within the Chinese legal structure. According to transparency international
index, China scored 3.6 out of 10 and was ranked the 79th,

Productions and Operations Management
Productions and Operations Management I The three categories of statistical quality control The
three categories of SQC include the traditional statistical tools, acceptance sampling, and
statistical process control (SPC). Traditional statistical tools are descriptive statistics like the
mean and range, used to describe qualitative characteristics. Acceptance sampling is a process of
taking a random sample or portion of a batch and deciding whether to accept or reject the whole
batch. SPC is a process that uses samples to determine whether a process is functioning normally
or not (Ryan, 2011). Traditional statistical tools describe the quality characteristics although they
do not elucidate the extent of the quality (whether good or bad). Acceptance sampling determines
whether an entire batch produced should be accepted or rejected after the goods have been
produced. However, SPC tracks the process to ensure it is functioning properly for a given period.
These tools can be used together effectively. Traditional statistical tools are used as inputs into SPC,
which is updated frequently enough to ensure that quality problems are identified in good time.
Finally, after a batch has been produced, acceptance sampling is used to determine whether the
batch is of good quality or not. The statistical process control Statistical process control is a
technique of controlling, monitoring, and improving processes via statistical analysis. The
philosophy behind this tool holds that

Environmental Changes to Marketing Mix
Forces in the marketing environment that lead to changes in the past 5 to 10 years to the company
s marketing mix:
The different aspects of the marketing mix will be assessed with regards to the forces in the
marketing environment for ice cream and food retailer, the Swenson s Group ( the Company )
operating in the Thai market. The context in which the changes in marketing mix will be examined
will be based on their products, eg: ice cream and food В– economic and the services, eg: customer
service, retail premises etc.
Describe more about the company/product.

Equivalent statistics today shows an increased by 25%. (*Asian Market Research News В–
October 2002). The implications of such increase in the middle class income group means this
particular group would be targeted by most business, ie: target marketing. The demand for quality
products/services would outweigh price considerations. The Company, capitalizing on the
exponential growth in this segment has adopted the following changes to their marketing mix
aspect of Price and Products.
PRICE: A typical customer in this market segment would demand quality products / services. The
Company over the past years have increased the quality of their ice cream duly enhancing its
taste, by the usage of better quality raw materials, eg: milk, flavouring, in their products. Though
this would increase their base production cost, profit margins are enhanced by charging customer
a premium for making available quality ice cream. The premium charged would be relative to the
cost of dining at fast food chains such as McDonalds, Burger King etc. What would previously be
considered a basic priced item in the market would now be premium priced to provide the
perceived value to the targeted market segment.
PROCESS/PLACE: A customer who pays a premium to dine at a Swenson s retail outlet would
desire a conducive, pleasant yet stylish dining environment. Swenson s have adopted retail outlets

Examples Of Ignorance In To Kill A Mockingbird
Ignorance is bliss, is a common adage that is used to justify someone s lack of information or
misunderstanding. This saying should not be used because it can lead people to be indignant or
lazy. When anyone chooses to avoid or ignore a situation because they do not understand it, this can
create more problems than originally had. The residents of Maycomb create issues and
complications from their ignoranceand indignance. In the book, To Kill a Mockingbirdby Harper
Lee, this ignorance is shown through racism, sexism and distinct social classes.
The book was taken place in 1933 when racial tensions were high. This is clearly seen through the
common use of racial slurs and treatment of african americans in the book. An example of this is ...

People like the Finch s are part of the highest social class because Atticus is a respected lawyer
and they are white. Then there are people like the Ewells and Cunninghams. Even though they
are white, they aren t treated as well as people like Scout because they are poor and considered
trash by some. Jem states that there are four kinds of folks in this world. There s ordinary kind
like us and the neighbors, there s the kind like the Cunninghams out in the woods, the kind like
the Ewells down at the dump, and the negroes (302). Jem, who is young and immature, sees the
clear demarcations of people in his society. It is unjust and ignorant to judge someone based
upon how much money they make or what social order they fall under. Some do deserve to be
disliked as such as the Ewells, who have committed wrong acts, but even they are victims of the
class system. Specifically Mayella, whose family is considered as the disgrace of Maycomb
even though she had nothing to do with that assessment and was isolated from the rest of the
world. Because of this, she tries to find comfort with Tom and this caused the whole trial situation
to be created by deeply rooted ignorance in Maycomb. The people are ignorant towards the
qualities of people like the Ewells because they fall under a certain social class which creates more
problems and

  • 2. Causes And Effects Of The Holocaust What happened when Germany conquered its neighboring territories? They caused a whole war to take place. This paper will discuss the Holocaust; why it took place, what happened during, and the effects. The Holocaust and a war took place because of Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party. They believed the Jewish people and other groups were inferior to the Germans and a threat to society (History.com). The Nazis thought of them as a race, and not a religious group (Berenbaum). They also blamed the Jewish for the country s defeat in World War Iin 1918. Because of this hatred towards the Jewish people, Adolf Hitler wanted a European war that would end the Jewish communities in Germany and cause racial purity and expansion of his power (History.com). After he became chancellor, Adolf Hitler fought his way to become the Fuhrer , also known as Germany s supreme ruler (History.com). This gave Hitler enough power to cause Germany to invade its neighboring territories, such as Poland and the Soviet Union. Several years later, the Nazi Party met in Berlin to discuss their plan about the murdering of the Jewish people. They named their plan the Final Solution of the Jewish Question. The Nazis carefully planned each stage of the Final Solution before it ever began. This plan also went over how the Jewish people were to be identified from the rest of the crowd (The Holocaust). To put this plan into action the SA, (Sturmabteilungen in German, or Storm Troopers) and the SS (Schutzstaffel in German, or Protection Squadrons) were made to create concentration camps for incarcerating political opponents of the Nazis (Concentration Camps). • 3. Separation Of Public Spaces In To Kill A Mockingbird By... The South was a volatile place when concerning the separation of the white and black communities. Laws were put into place to solidify the separation of the races while providing equal opportunity to all. However, these laws, known as the Jim Crow laws, were ratified to give the illusion of equality while allowing for separation to continue. Though the image these laws held gave the impression of equality, while the people did not hold equal status. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee explores the racial tensions of separate but equalthroughout the novel and how these ideas affected the daily lives of those who lived during this time. Separation of public spaces and the relationships between the people themselves are small examples of the realities of the laws effects on real people in the South. The Jim Crow laws perpetuated the racial tension of the South rather than alleviating the problems by sacrificing equality for the social norm of separation. The physical separation of the white and black races was of great concern in the South and how each of the races would interact with one another. This separation included preferential treatment of white individuals over their black counterparts. While the people filed into the courthouse waiting for the trial in To Kill a Mockingbird, the Negros, having waited for the white people to go upstairs, began to come in (Lee 186). The physical separation continued as the Colored balcony ran along three walls of the courtroom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jessica Davis Fort Hays State University ECFI 644 International Economics April 30, 2012 Dr. Dosse Toulaboe Abstract China s economy is growing ever larger, but is that enough to get the Chinese Renminbi (more commonly known as Yuan) to be accepted as a global market currency? In 2005, China announced the move stating it was a move towards allowing the Yuan to eventually float freely. However, China still maintained intense government control by abandoning its peg to the U.S. dollar and simply moving it to link with a handful of other world currencies (Schuman, 2012). So while this step may have paved the way towards a floating currency, it was s step taken that also kept in place a way for tight government control and regulation. Then, in 2008 to help curb the effects of the global financial crisis, China s economy once again pegged it s currency to the U.S. dollar. Since, China has removed that peg and in 2010 again announced to the world that is was committed to resuming reforms of the Yuan exchange rate and increasing currency flexibility (China Daily, 2010). It seems that with flexible exchange rates in China, it feels like two steps forward, one step backwards. While they are indeed moving toward a floating exchange rate, it is a slow going process filled with exhaustive government control and regulation. Financial Market Development Having a relatively liquid market is important for financial market development in order to attract foreign investors. To broaden the influence and liquidity of the Yuan, China has signed several (while limited) currency and central bank liquidity swap deals with multiple countries including

  • 7. What Is The Power Of The Media On The Central Park Five Case Tatiana Costa Professor Christa Verem WRIT105 05 September 27, 2017 The Power of the Media on the Central Park Five Case From the start, the media s influence in the Central Park Five case is very evident . Before the adolescents were even sent to trial, the media had already portrayed the teens as criminals and had essentially declared them guilty of the crime. The way newspapers and television covered the case and talked about the boys made it clear that their intentions were to make people believe these five teenage boys were, in fact, guilty. They used words like savages and wolf pack to give the audience the impression that these teenage boys were not good people; they gave them a bad image before they could actually explain themselves. By using words like the ones above, the media dehumanizes the teenage boys. These kinds of phrases and words are what will catch the reader s attention and, in some cases, the reader might actually forget that these articles are talking about actual human beings and not a wolf pack . For the most part, the headlines that were printed covering this case automatically made the reader see the boys in a negative way because all of them gave the boys this monstrous image. Even if the article was not one that was against the boys, the readers would still get this bad feeling about them because of the way these editors decided to structure their title. The title is meant to catch the reader s attention, and what better way to do that then with a headline that depicted these teens as savages and associated them with the word gang . By doing this, the reader already has a bad image of these teenage boys going into the reading. This will cause them to only pay attention to the negative aspects of these boys and not the whole picture like they are suppose to. There was an article written by Maria Konnikova that explains exactly why authors choose to incorporate specific words in their headline or why they choose certain headlines. In her article titled How Headlines Change the Way We Think, Konnikova looks to bring more attention to misleading headlines. She explains how headlines influence people s minds to look at to read articles in certain ways. These titles brought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Sigmund Freud s Psychodynamic Theory Sigmund Freud s psychodynamic theory can be described as a view that explains personality in terms of conscious and unconscious forces such as unconscious desires and beliefs (Chegg Study). Sigmund Freud developed this theory in the early 20th century based on the assumption that our unconscious desires influence many of our actions in our everyday lives (McLeod 2009). In addition, another assumption of Freud s that contributed to this theory was that our childhood experiences influence us greatly and make us into the person we are today. Freud proposed the psychodynamic theory according to which personality consisted of the Id, the super ego and the ego (McLeod 2009). The Id is the pleasure principle concerned with instincts and pleasure and operates by primary processes which thereby, does not take into account the reality principle (McLeod 2009). For example, if you were extremely thirsty; instead of going to buy a bottle of water or refilling your own bottle, you would drink from someone else s water bottle without their permission and without them knowing. This example demonstrates how the Id principle operates without taking into account what is socially acceptable in order to satisfy a need. The ego is the reality principle which not only operates by secondary processes concerned with reason and logic, but also mediates between the Id and super ego according to reality (McLeod 2009). For example, in the same scenario, instead of drinking from someone else s water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is not creative writing, although creative writers will often research some aspect of their subject. It is not journalistic writing, although the journalist makes steady use of sources. The overarching purpose for writing is to show why the reader should accept that answer. This includes acknowledging and responding to possible alternative answers to the question. Others ideas are used to find or support claims, reasons, or evidence but cannot to be presented as the writer s own. Even though the writer may come to the same conclusion as others who have addressed the issue before, he or she must present the answer and its supporting reasons as the product of an one s own investigation, being careful to acknowledge when and how others contributions have been utilized. • 17. Free Market Capitalism in The United States INTRODUCTION The US has been leading the world economy with its model of free market capitalism for last three decades. We have been told that, if left alone, markets will produce the most efficient and effective outcome. Because individuals know what the best way is and they are the ones who will be rewarded according to their productivity. Therefore, maximized freedom and minimized state intervention have been regarded as the most beautiful contribution to economic development. However, not all neo liberal countries have achieved the expected outcome, in fact, most of them resulted in big failures. The growth rates of Latin America and Africa, which had been higher than other developing nations, dropped by over 60 percent after they embraced IMF sponsored neo liberalism in the 1980 s . Especially in Latin America, neo liberal policies were applied in the time. The result was that Latin America s per capita GDP fell by an average 0.5 percent a year for 10 years. Meanwhile, the growth rate of countries that state deeply intervenes its economy such as Northern Europe countries, China, Brazil and Singapore have enormously increased. Especially China s historic success along with the strong recent economic performance of Russia and several Persian Gulf states has renewed interest in the hybrid economic model. Those phenomena can t be explained by free market capitalism ideology. RESEARCH QUESTION: Is the neo liberal economy model the best for the national economy as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scientists realized the importance of this and began to research on the creation of vaccines for other illnesses. His experiment consisted of two people, a young milkmaid who had cowpox and an eight year old boy. A week after the inoculation, the boy became ill, but that only lasted a day. With that confirmation, Jenner experimented with cowpox. At first, he was hesitant, because he was afraid that his theory might be wrong, which would lead to the death of the boy. In the end, the boy stayed healthy for weeks and that was when Jenner concluded his theory was right. He named his discovery vaccine after the Latin word for cowpox, but scientists and researchers adapted this name to describe any agent that was able help people build immunity towards diseases by injecting a milder version of the disease. It was not until Pasteur s discovery that vaccines were able to defend against more diseases. Pasteur had been looking for a way to create a vaccine for anthrax, a type of disease in sheeps and cattle, when a scientist sent him a head of a rooster that had died of chicken cholera, asking him to help find a way to prevent it. The poor conditions and lack of opportunities in the 19th century China and the Chinese s hope of accumulating wealth to support their families in China fostered the huge influx of Chinese immigrants to United States. The discovery of gold in California also fuelled many Chinese s dream of fast wealth (112). Due to the need for mass labour stemming from industrialization and high productivity of Chinese labours, employers would enthusiastically hire Chinese labour, which in turn sparked the increasing competition with the local workers and a growing anti Chinese sentiment (114). The last century of the Roman Republic holds two of greatest political alliances in history, the First Triumvirate, created in 60 BC, and the Second Triumvirate, created in 43 BC. While the circumstances and actions of these two unions are very different, they tend to have vey similar trends. Three men come together to increase their political power, take control of the Republic, and fight against a particular group that opposes them. First, we shall look at the creations of these two alliances, as they seem to have distinct similarities. The characters that fill these two coalitions, a brilliant politician, a military commander, and a successful senator, share similar qualities in themselves. Finally, they both end in a similar fashion, as the two more successful men fight for control of the Roman State. In 60 BC Gaius Julius Caesarreturned to Rome from his governorship of Hispania Ulterior. There he has successfully campaigned against local tribes and given a triumph. Roman law stated that generals given a triumph had to stay outside the city until the triumph commenced, but Caesar also wanted to run for the consulship of 59 BC, which he had to be in the city to declare. The Senate, led by Cato, denied his request to run in absentia, so Caesar gave up his triumph to become a candidate. Caesar had a lot of opposition against him in the senate, especially from the optimates. The greatest Roman general in 60 BC is Gneaus Pompeius, a man given the title Magnus (The Great) ... Woodblock printing originated in China as a method to mass produce texts. When the technology migrated to Japan, they used it to produce copies of the same picture quickly. The process involved laying the same print over different woodblocks to add layers to the image and create a complete picture. This process was time consuming and took a lot of skill to master since you had to lay the paperprecisely every time. This print is an image of female touts, someone who solicits businesses, dragging travellers into their teahouse. In the image we can see a traveler already sitting just outside the teahouse and a woman cleaning his feet. From this we can interpret that the people were very clean and sanitary because she is ridding his feet of grime before entering the tea house, or that they were religious. In Shintoism, one of the main beliefs is in a form of ritual purification stating that you should wash yourself to prevent bad spirits from entering somewhere, in this case, the teahouse. The other thing we can analyze from this print is that despite the fact that it was a male dominated society, the women did have quite a bit of power. In the previous paragraph, we could see that men were the dominant sex, but in some cases, women did have power over men and that they had some power in general, especially compared to other cultures at the time. In the print, we can see women literally dragging travelers into their teahouse, which shows they did had some dominance and power over a man. We can also see this because the teahouse seems to be run and owned by only women, which tells us that women had enough power and rights to run their own business without a man telling them what to do and how to run ... Extended Essay Draft Group 1: Category 2 In what ways are love and avarice intertwined in both novels and to what extent does it effect the development of the main characters? By: Nikhil Kassum Table of Contents: Introduction (Page 3) Body Paragraphs (Page 4) Conclusion (Page 13) Introduction: At first glance, it is understandable to assume that Fyodor Dostoevsky s The Gambler and F.Scott Fitzgerald s The Beautiful and Damned are incomparable and unrelated in every way. However, when exploring in detail the character development in each novel, an alternate verdict can be presented that shows, beyond peradventure, that both novels share similarities. Granted, The Gambler is about a tutor working for a Russian family and his evolution into a pathological gambler, where as The Beautiful and Damned is concentrated on the relationship of a wealthy young couple in the Roaring 20 s who taste the bittersweet consequences of extravagance as the book traces their mental, moral and physical disintegration. Nevertheless, both novels explore depression as a concomitant of the amalgamation between love and avarice. Both Dostoevsky and Fitzgerald, through different settings, character and circumstances, have created a grandiose psychological portrait of unrequited love as well as depression through addiction and loss. Fabrication lies are most clearly defined as lies that could be true, but the one who states them is not basing them on any real direct knowledge, they may also be a falsification of the truth in a plausible way (1). The Flying Squadron of Speakers (FSS) was an organization of citizens formed after the First World War to promote The American way through oratory propaganda. In this paper a pamphlet produced by the FSS to attract new members will be analyzed. The most titillating aspect of this pamphlet is that it is essentially a propaganda piece promoting the need for more propaganda. Its xenophobic pages concentrate on reminding its readers that the immigrant must learn how to be an American, and that propaganda is the best way to do so. The pamphlets most repeated fabrication is that all foreigners that have arrived on the shores of America are completely ignorant of the way of the American, and thus sow Anti Americanisms, in particular Bolshevism and Communism (3, pg. 5). There can be no doubt that some immigrants did do this, but to imply that all did is simply inaccurate, a twisted but still plausible to those panicked enough, take on reality. This example could also be classified as an exaggeration lie, however because no evidence is cited to support the claim on the part of the FSS, it is clear that this statement was made without any true knowledge of the situation, allowing this statement to also fall under the category of falsification. In contradiction to this claim only 0.038 percent of the population was a member of the Socialist Party of America in 1919 when this pamphlet was published (4), (5). One could hardly claim that this was an impending revolution as the FSS does. This suggests that the claims being made in this pamphlet are uneducated, without any tangible base in the reality of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mansa Sulaiman participated in religious festivals and services, such as the Feast of Sacrifices and the Feast of Fast breaking. In the painting, the cranes were dancing in an elegant and formally choreographed dance above the city gates among the magical clouds (Ars orientalis). Although, it is not unlikely that Huizong did see cranes above the city gates but he saw or imagine them as if they were dancing instead of just flying through. Intentionally or not, he then depicted the event so beautifully in the hand scroll and interpreted it as Mandate of Heaven. Furthermore, during Huizong s reign, he focused a lot on these auspicious signs and even developed a record of these by having the citizens to report the sightings (ars orientalis). It was like a documentation of the blessings that were given to the Song (kertas selembar). This system, however, made it seems like these auspicious events were forced and did not happen naturally. This is quite fascinating because it seemed like Huizong wanted to control Heaven s blessings and as long as the people believed him, it did not really matter whether those auspicious events were not true. Remote Sensing Of Aerosols, Clouds And Precipitation Book Title Remote Sensing of Aerosols, Clouds, and Precipitation EDITORS Tanvir Islam, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, USA Yongxiang Hu, NASA Langley Research Center, USA Alexander Kokhanovsky, EUMETSAT, Germany Jun Wang, University of Nebraska, USA BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND READERSHIP The atmospheric parameters, including, aerosols, clouds, and precipitation, play very important role in our Earth s climate system. The climate feedbacks influencing the global climate variability are directly or indirectly affected by aerosols, clouds, and precipitation, and thus, modulate the Earth s radiation and surface energy balance. Therefore, global observations of aerosols, clouds, and precipitation are crucial not only to better understand the processes involved in the climate system but also to predict the future climate change. Satellite remote sensing as a tool can be very valuable to acquire such global observations of aerosols, clouds, and precipitation for monitoring Earth s climate system. In particular, some of the regions in the Earth are not easily accessible to obtain in situ data while on those regions; space borne instruments can act as complimentary data sources. Besides, large scale data mapping and monitoring are only feasible with space based observations. (pg 530/531) Javert depicts his thoughts as a rebellion because they are going against his lifelong beliefs and it begins to irritate him . He knows that having one distinct outcome for anyone who has committed a crime would be the easy way out of things, but he is unable to control himself from now thinking that there is more than one right answer. He had always believed that strict authority and giving people sentences was the right call for every case he had, but now these phrases show less of an impact due to his overturned ideas. • 42. Genicon Case Summary Genicon is a firm with ten years of domestic experience and some actual global success. Genicon was successful in America, but it quickly understood that it would be hard for them to have viable growth, because the health care buys medical equipment through GPOs. As a small firm it was tough to obtain a contract from GPOs since their financial arrangement encouraged them to buy equipment from big companies. Consequently, Genicon decided to go global and catch growing demand there. It became the smallest firm to sell products to European clients with the assistance of BSI. According to the index, China was ranked the 89th out of 185 countries, whereas Russia, Brazil and India were graded the 120th, the 129th, and the 133rd, respectively. Therefore, China is the best option amongst the four in terms of providing a stable business environment. However, there are two significant drawbacks surrounding the Chinese regulatory framework that would critically concern GENICON. As the knowledge base for the medical devices that GENICON are carrying is readily available, local manufacturers can effortlessly start manufacturing nearly indistinguishable products and sell them at lower prices. Second, policy implementation in China is often escorted with deflection, as implementation measures are carried out in unpredictable and contradictory manners. Unavoidably, the uncertainty around the regulatory system creates additional legal risks. As exhibit 3 shows, the corruption perceptions score ratifies the lack of transparency within the Chinese legal structure. • 43. Productions and Operations Management Productions and Operations Management I The three categories of statistical quality control The three categories of SQC include the traditional statistical tools, acceptance sampling, and statistical process control (SPC). Traditional statistical tools are descriptive statistics like the mean and range, used to describe qualitative characteristics. Acceptance sampling is a process of taking a random sample or portion of a batch and deciding whether to accept or reject the whole batch. SPC is a process that uses samples to determine whether a process is functioning normally or not (Ryan, 2011). Traditional statistical tools describe the quality characteristics although they do not elucidate the extent of the quality (whether good or bad). Acceptance sampling determines whether an entire batch produced should be accepted or rejected after the goods have been produced. However, SPC tracks the process to ensure it is functioning properly for a given period. These tools can be used together effectively. Traditional statistical tools are used as inputs into SPC, which is updated frequently enough to ensure that quality problems are identified in good time. Finally, after a batch has been produced, acceptance sampling is used to determine whether the batch is of good quality or not. The statistical process control Statistical process control is a technique of controlling, monitoring, and improving processes via statistical analysis. The philosophy behind this tool holds that ... Even though they are white, they aren t treated as well as people like Scout because they are poor and considered trash by some. Jem states that there are four kinds of folks in this world. There s ordinary kind like us and the neighbors, there s the kind like the Cunninghams out in the woods, the kind like the Ewells down at the dump, and the negroes (302). Jem, who is young and immature, sees the clear demarcations of people in his society. It is unjust and ignorant to judge someone based upon how much money they make or what social order they fall under. Some do deserve to be disliked as such as the Ewells, who have committed wrong acts, but even they are victims of the class system. Specifically Mayella, whose family is considered as the disgrace of Maycomb even though she had nothing to do with that assessment and was isolated from the rest of the world.
