Analysis Of Medea And All My Sons
The literary pieces that I chose for my Final Project, I am the classic play written by Euripides,
Medea by Euripides constructed in 431 B.C. and All My Sons written by Arthur Miller in 1947.
The propose of this paper is to analyze the classical work of Medea and the contemporary work, All
My Sons, for their particular storytelling components, themes and the assessment and narrative
choices that the authors utilized as it connects to the literary convention of their time period. In
addition, I will discuss the likenesses and differences of these two plays with respects to
characterization, narrative choices, themes, and literary conventions.

She was a powerful and dynamic character in a time when strong women were not depicted in
Greek culture. Medea was an unconventional woman in ancient Greek times, and it was
uncharacteristic for females in Athenian society to be a heroine and focal point.
Medea, the protagonist, was the daughter of Aeetes of Colchis, she was driven by passion and
committed horrendous crimes for the love of Jason. Euripides characters are a relatively flat
character, and they do not change dramatically throughout the play. The character Medea is
cynical, wicked, scheming and unlike any other heroine in ancient times, she blames Jason for her
predicament and seeks out revenge against everything that he loved. The opening act takes place
in the setting outside of Jason and Medea home in Corinth, Medea standing outside irradiates to
the Chorus how Jason victimized her and deserted the family. Like other plays in Greek history,
the play included The Chorus which was comprised of the women from Corinth; the there role was
to converse with Medea and evoke sympathy for her character.
The Nurse, Chorus, and Medea give a history of Medea and Jason s relationship, and the inciting
incidence begins. Medea describes how she is distraught and shattered because she sacrificed
everything for Jason, yet he is leaving her and their two sons to marry Glauce. Being exiled from
Corinth, Medea persuades Creon the King to let

Examples Of Realism In A Doll s House
Henrik Ibsen is regarded as the inventor of realism . Realism is a movement in theatre that first
began at the end of the nineteenth century. In a realism play social and domestic problems are
explored as they would actually happen in a real life situation. We are presented with a portrayal
of humanity and life as it occurs in real life. It is evidently clear from reading Ibsen s A Doll s
House that this play was written in the form of realism. Ibsen does not shadow any aspect of life in
Norway in the nineteenth century in this play. It is clear that during this time power was very
important. It was a patriarchal society which oppressed both males and females as they struggled to
confine to the strict regulations of the society of that time.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

We see how Torvald was most concerned about what people would think should Nora leave him
rather than the actual heartbreak of his marriage disintegrating. From this moment happiness is
not the question; all that concerns us is to save the remains, the fragments, the appearance¬ .
Ibsen (2008) [Act Three]. Once everybody thought that everything in the Helmer household was
perfectly fine and happy that was all that mattered. Some might argue that this is just Torvald
being superficial and that he never really cared for his wife, however as much as I agree with
that statement I think the society in which he lived in also played a major part in his opinion on
the matter. Everything in society was based on your appearance; you needed to present your life
in the best light possible if you were to retain your status. As Torvald, possessed a high status job
as the bank manager it is clear that his reputation was running through his mind when having the
conversation with Nora. How painful and humiliating it would be for Torvald, with his manly
independence, to know that he owed me anything! [Act One] It is clear that it is the man s duty to
care for his wife and not the other way around as this would be emasculating for the

Benefits And Benefits Of Alternative Medicine
Chapter 2: What You Need to Know Before You Start
There are as much traditional medicinal techniques as there are diverse cultures in the world.
Which is great news, because it would simply mean that people wishing to use alternative
medicine as a way to heal themselves would have the luxury to choose, the ones that better meet
their expectations, or the ones they believe work the best, as well as the ones that can fit their
lifestyles, because, let s face it, most people would rather look for an easy to follow technique that
can be done at home and without necessarily making an appointment with a professional therapist.
Let s now have a look at the main branches of traditional medicine (at least the ones commonly used
in Western societies today).
The Main Fields of Relative Medicine and Their Benefits
Many therapists are making a fortune by offering to their clients / patients what they call a safer
and more natural alternative than modern medicine. According to the BLS also known as the
Bureau of Labor Statistics, traditional practitioners or therapists make an estimate of $73,400 a
year (this is a median salary). Which is not bad, and indicates that perhaps some disciplines in
traditional medicine pay more than others, as with everything in the Western world, it s all about
tendencies and preferences.
Let s now have a look at some of the most popular fields of traditional medicine, still used today.

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Museum
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao
Before the mid twentieth century, museums in Europe and the United States were generally
planned in variations of the neoclassical style. But, the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao moved the
heading of gallery outlines, which gave an extensive show venue to twentieth century and modern
art, designed by the famous architect Frank Gehry. Architecture is important nowadays to the
public, because it offers a physical surrounding environment in where we live in. Moreover,
architecture is not only affected by the culture, but also by the economy of the country.
Frank Gehry is one of the handful modern architects that are worldwide known by his inventive and
pioneering work. The American Canadian architect was born Frank Owen Goldberg in Toronto,
Canada on February 28, 1929, based in Los Angeles since 1962. He studied architecture at the
University of Southern California and city planning in Harvard University. Gehry is known for his
postmodern structures and unusual inventions. His most popular buildings include the
Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain and the Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles.
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is a museum that represents modern and contemporary art. Its
story first begins when Thomas Krens the director of Solomon R. Guggenheim foundation in New
York City, was looking for a museum location in Europe. He chose the industrial wasteland in the
middle of the city on a curve of the Nervion River. The site was located in the center of

John and Joey are two different people who happen to fall in love with each other briefly. Joey is
young, naГЇve and does not make thorough decisions. Joey is a risk taker. She perceives her
relationship with John as a normal relationship, as it doesn t seem to create any problems with

John is charming, sincere, and a well educated young man, John knows what he wants and
knows his commitments. Essentially, John s merits gives him greater value in society, as a
black man since very few black people achieved a higher education during his time. The black
people are not given the same privileges in school because the quality of education provided to
them is mediocre. Nonetheless, black people are distinguished as an un educated lower class,
whereas, white people are perceived as the most intelligent and comprising a higher class of people
due to the quality of education received. John is referred to as an important person because of his
many educational achievements and his work ethics.
12. Why do you think the characters of the meat deliveryman and Dorothy the maid s helper are in
the film?
The characters of the meat deliveryman and Dorothy are in the film to convey to the audience that
there is nothing wrong with interracial relationships, whether by means of friendship or marriage. It
doesn t make a difference because the younger generation likes Dorothy and the meat deliveryman
is more open minded. Dorothy and the meat deliveryman appear to enjoy each others company

Identity In The Metamorphosis
In order to be aware of Gregor s transformation in The Metamorphosis, Lacan s theory of
understanding reality, supports the idea of identity. Lacan realizes through the mirror stage that it
is one thing to see a reflection of oneself, though, it is more complex than this, since a reflection
of someone is just an image, one s identity is more than we can see (Lacan 72). In other words,
one must alienate themselves from others to compare and reach self recognition. According to
Kafka s story, Gregor has felt isolated from the start, and because he travels for his job he barley
makes any social interaction, hence his basis for relationships relies in his familyunit where his
identity is based on false recognition. But before Gregor s metamorphosis, he was seen as something

It is not until Gregor s mother faints at the sight of him that Gregor feels like a monster, and she
further dehumanizes Gregor by removing furniture from his room (Kafka, 1915). A person is
not a person if they have no purpose. The pressure from Gregor s job, and the provision from his
family consume his conscience and nothing is left for him other than what his family has
intended him to be. This can be related to Lacan s theory of the Imaginary; this idea is associated
with the ego (Freud s notion of an individual which serves as a mediator) (Falasiri 2016). The
imaginary related to Kafka s story is the image of the insect, between what is real what is unreal,
Gregor defines himself as a subject rather than a human being based on other s interpretations of his
actions. Therefore, the pressure to be productive as a human, actually dehumanizes Gregor
physically and mentally, as his identity has morphed him into something worthless than a human.
And overall, although Gregor is an insect, he is not anxious by his appearance, but how others view

The Dream Team Era
During the summer of 1992, the NBA took center stage as the world watched the greatest team in

(The Dream Team).
Despite being lead in overall scoring by Charles Barkley, different players would step up on
different nights to take control and led the Dream Team to victory with not just scoring, but
great passing and leadership ability as well. Michael Jordan who at the time was the most
popular basketball player in the world showed that he is a great defensive player as well as an
offensive player by averaging five steals per game during the tournament. Other players like David
Robinson and Patrick Ewing provided tough interior defense and the flow of the games offensively
were controlled by Magic Johnson and Scottie Pippen.
The Dream Team s first game was on July 26th against the African nation of Angola and the

Insidious Injury Research Paper
Insidious injuries are when the links between their causes and manifest symptoms are obscure.
(Calhoun et. al, 2017,162) This indicates that these injuries are described as general diseases as
opposed to traumatic injury that has occurred. With this in mind it makes these types of injuries
hard to define and to understand due to the fact they display as diseases. Insidious injuries have
specific characteristics such as they appear only after a period of time, there are patterns to a
group that are exposed or randomly depending on the individual s level of vulnerabilities. Then it
manifests by raising the rates of risk for diseases that may also have other causes and affects
victims that are widely dispersed through the populations. This

Descriptive Essay About My Grandmother
I can still remember her contagious laugh, her unforgettable smile, her grace as she entered a
room, the way she made the room bright with just her presence in there. I can hear her tell me
how much she loves and cares about us, our family. She was the glue, she held us together. The
day she left us felt as if I was hit by a wave, it all came in waves. I couldn t breath, I couldn t break
the barrier between water and air. It came in waves, then it all came at once. The year was 2015,
my grandmother had been recently sick. My mother went flew to Mexico for a week to check on
her in the hospital and to take care of her. I was concerned, but I did not wantto think about it. I feel
horrible saying that, but I just did not want to think about it, the fact that she is sick, I wanted to
believe she was okay, I said it so much to myself I seemed to trick myself into believing it. She s
okay, mama is going to be okay, she s been through worse, she will be okay, she is okay . During
this week my sister has been checking up on her by calling her daily, my grandmother has gotten
so bad, she couldn t speak full on sentences. When the phone was passed to me, I never wanted to
talk about her being sick, she enjoyed that. She did not like being reminded. In spanish she
asked, How was school honey? . It was okay, same old subjects we learn, I made a friend today,
her name is Juliet. She has curly red hair and green eyes, I said happily. We continued talking till
it was time for her to go and take her medicine. Goodbye honey, I love you so very much, never
forget that, she explained with a shaky voice. It was the sicknesstalking, I hated that talk. I love
you too, but don t say never forget that you ll always be here to tell me. The line was dead silent,
then she really needed to go. She ended to call, then the next morning came along. I dialed the
number with my sister, it took my grandmother a while to answer. Hello dears, she said in
spanish with her voice sounding sicker than yesterday. I heard coughing over the phone, it
sounded bad. No, she s fine, do not bring it up, she will be fine, she is fine Hi mama, how are you
doing? asked my sister concerned. I m not doing so well, please put me off speaker

Examples Of Allusions In Romeo And Juliet
In Act 3, there were several examples of allusions made by different characters throughout the
scenes. For example, in scene 1 when Tybalt challenges Romeo to a fight and Romeo backs down,
Mercutio steps in. While talking to Tybalt he says, Good king of cats, nothing but one of your/nine
lives, that I mean to make bold withal, and, as/you shall use me hereafter, dry beat the rest of the
/eight. (3.1.78 81). Mercutiocalls Tybaltthe Good King of Cats , which is an allusion to the
medieval story of Reynard the Fox . The story includes a character named Tibert, (later evolved
to Tybalt) who is a cat that is quite quarrelsome and quick tempered. ( Reynard The Fox , 2007).
In addition, the cat is one of the few characters that supports Reynard in the story. The use of this
allusion helps enhance the development of Tybalt as a character, because it shows some of his
character traits through Mercutio s eyes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This reference is made when Juliet says Gallop apace, you fiery footed steeds, /Towards Phoebus
lodging. Such a wagoner/As Phaeton would whip you to the west/And bring in cloudy night
immediately. (3.2.1 4). The story of Phoebus and Phaeton is a Greek myth about Phaeton driving
a chariot of the sun, despite Phoebus telling him not to. The chariot goes out of the control and
Phaeton causes the earth to go pitch black. ( Phoebus , 2018; Apollo , 2018). The allusion to
Phoebus and Phaeton is appropriate for the scene because it emphasizes how badly Juliet wants
Romeo to come to her, since he will only come at night when everything is dark, so he can go

Lucy Pevensie s Influence Tactics And Charisma
Influence Tactics and Charisma
Two other factors played a huge role in Lucy s leadership: the way she influenced others and the
way they perceived her as a person. The influence tactics she uses reflect her power type and the
type of relationship between her and those she is trying to influence. For most of the film, Lucy
uses inspirational appeals with her siblings to keep their spirits up and keep them focused on the
tasks of rescuing Edmund and saving Narnia. Inspirational appeals rely on emotional connection
(Hughes, Ginnett, Curphy, 2015, p. 69), which Lucy has established well in all of her relationships.
Personal appeals also have a large part in this, since this involves requesting a favor based upon

Self Identity And Personality Development
I grew up in an average middle class family, where I attend a public primary school during the early
years of my life. Primary school was rather simple reason been most of the pupils were friendly and
there was so social division both inside and outside of class. However, once I entered high school
life became different with the existence of classes due to boundaries between the well behaved
students who were also classified as middle classand the students who were rude and involve
themselves in truancy was considered middle class. During this time, my personality and emotional
developments were developing and with the emotional support from my parents my self identity
was enhanced. Which in turn gave me the foundation to become the person I am now. Emotional
and Personality development can have a positive outcome on behaviors, learning and the decision
that are made in schools this then can lead to a stronger self identity. Self identity in adolescenceis
composed of two concepts. First, are self concept this is referred to permanent assessments of
oneself such as knowledge of one self skills and abilities, also the personality traits and attributes.
For example, an adolescent may have negative academic self concept because of the bad grades
they are receiving but have a positive athletic self concept because they are a star which refers
athlete. Secondly is self esteemwhich refers to the global evaluative dimension of the self. This can

Imperialism Relations Essay
Imperialism relations are also decided by force today, and the Europeans, the Americans and
others have to constantly defend their peace loving community. Every state sees itself threatened
by the others, and each claims that it only defends itself against the others. If it were true that all
states are merely defending themselves, then they would be able to leave each other alone. The
rights which one state ascribes to itself against another state are defended. This is an important
point: the interests that states have in each other brings the states into conflict with each other not
the desire to be left alone. So one has to explain how a conflict exists in ordinary buying and
selling, and it is insufficient to explain the conflict between states by resorting to images from the
past. It is true that the Spanish stole the Mayans gold, that colonialism was a form of robbery.
Someone who accuses today s governments of robbery actually accuses them of engaging in
conflicts that do not fit the world... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, each state s basis of existence is always too small. Now here is the reason why states
always turn to the outside world: the growth that the state promotes has a border in the reach of its
own power. The state always promotes growth policies, but the country s borders then present a
limited market, a limited availability of raw materials and resources, a limited potential labor force;
The power that licenses capital, which creates the economic system in the first place, is itself a limit
to its growth within its limited range. Under capitalist states, a relationship of mutual recognition
comes into existence so that one state can use the other, because the other state calculates the same
way, only vice versa. Two states pay their mutual respects and engage in civilized relations because
what they want is totally

How Has Barbie Changed Pop Culture
The message the ever so popular Barbie doll has been trying to push to children all over the world
has varied in a way over the years. In 1959, when Barbie was first released, it was all about the girly
barbie and how women should look like and what they have to do, kids were playing with a doll
that had an ideal body and expectations barbie put in their minds were intangible.
Barbie s image has changed overs the years in effort to keep up with the change in pop culture.
In the 1960 s, Barbie wore designer clothes and took most of her inspiration from the First Lady
Jacqueline Kennedy, as well as wearing mini skirts and white go go boots. During the 1970 s
Barbies attire was very much fitting for the glitz and glamour of the decade. Even Barbie s face
and body have transformed with the styles. The first Barbie doll had heavily made up eyes that
looked to the side, but by 1961 she had a more natural look, and her big, blue eyes looked straight
out. Many people had criticized Barbie s figure as being impossible for a real woman, so in 1999
Mattel introduced a doll with a more convincing shape. Like the changes in her fashions, these
changes reflected the changing look of women through the decades, evolving from the made up and

substandard schools and unrealized dreams. (With no way out of trouble, more students likely to

Chivalric Actions In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Chivalry
(An Analysis of Chivalric Actions in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Song of Roland,
Perceval: The Story of the Grail, and Morte D Arthur) In the childhood of many people all across
the world, we grow up hearing grand tales about Medieval times. We fantasize about taking part in
countless stories set in this type of world. There has, and always be an abundance stories providing
more imaginative stories set in this iconic time in human history. Despite the endless modern
adaptations of these stories, the most iconic and influential tales about this time period were
actually written in this time. Written stories from this time period, although often edited, provide
the most accurate and clear descriptions of what life was truly like at this time. The Dark Ages
were a time of great warriors, kings, and chivalry. Chivalry evolved from older cultures, such as the
Anglo Saxons, to eventually be known as the code of honor familiar to society today. In the four
stories, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Song of Roland, Perceval: The Story of the Grail, and

The Fukushima Nuclear Facility Disaster
The Fukushima nuclear facility disaster following the March 2011 Tohoku earthquake and

The purpose of the device is to navigate using remote control to a specified location, and complete
a series of tasks. This will protect the human operators from absorbing a high dose of radioactive
contamination. This project provides a platform for student groups to present their solutions to a
range of design problems such as remotely completing everyday tasks as well as solutions for
propulsion, sensing, and navigation. Each team is required to design construct, and operate a

However, after brainstorming together, we finally came up with one design that was easy to
succeed and had the capacity to do all the five tasks very fast and easily, which are the magnets
that we are using today. Furthermore, in the engineering process we used, we needed to define
the main problem and test some designs to get the right one. Lastly, we improved our final
design by making it bigger. For the first design, we went to Walmart and we looked for a remote
controlled jeep that had some good specifications, but when we saw a lot of RC car options we
did not know which one was the best, so we decided to buy one and try it. We found an RC jeep
cost us $12.57, which was not much. We made small talk about the size, the tires, the quality,
and the way it was combined together. After that, we bought the jeep and started to combine the
material we had for the testing together. Unfortunately, the car didn t work because it was bigger
than the pipe. We started an argument about how we could make it fit in the pipe, until finally
we decided to refund the money and started thinking about using a different device. For the
second design, after the first device failed the test we did not give up. We went to Walmart for the
second time and looked for a smaller car. We found a lot of different cars, but all the cars did not
look like they had very good quality and none looked very fast. We found an RC sports car

AESOP AND ITS HISTORY
Aesop was established in Melbourne in 1987 with a quest to create a range of superlative products
for the skin, hair and body. The company is committed to using both plant based and laboratory
made ingredients of the highest quality and proven efficacy particularly those with the greatest anti
oxidant properties.
The company was started by a hairdresser Dennis Paphitis who used to work in a salon. Product
wise he started adding essential oils to the commercial hair color, as the smell of ammonia is quiet
overwhelming his clients responded well to these less aggressive aromas. He then took this up as a
passion and started understanding these ingredients and started working with a chemist on a small
range of hair products. Eventually the hair product extended to a hand and body product category
and finally skin care.
Dennis felt this was an opportunity that was approaching his way. Finally in 1996 he quit the salon
and began his extensive research and development in the field of cosmetics. He felt that the
marketing of his product was limited just to the salon.
The next few years he along with the chemist intensely spent time setting up a foundation for a
product line and development. All this was done

The Shareholder Approach For Managerial Responsibility Essay
The Shareholder approach to managerial responsibility was highlighted in Milton Friedman s New
York Times article The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase Profits . In essence, that
article states that the responsibility of a manager is solely to the shareholders; he or she must
follow the shareholders interests as long as it stays within legal and certain social parameters. In
this essay, I will further explain Friedman s arguments, address main counterpoints, and ultimately
argue that Friedman s conclusion is a correct and normative view of the moral responsibility from
the perspective of management in a non private company.
The shareholder approach to managerial moral responsibility has a few main points that are
necessary to address in explaining Friedman s argument, especially in the context of distinguishing
the approach from other arguments that have been suggested as alternative approaches.
Friedman s first two arguments are similar in nature they both point out the lack of ownership of a
firm s assets by the managers. In his article, Friedman writes:
The stockholders or the customers or the employees could separately spend their own money on
the particular action if they wished to do so. The executive is exercising a distinct social
responsibility, rather than serving as an agent of the stockholders or the customers or the
employees, only if he spends the money in a different way than they would have spent it.

Masculinity In Football
Within American culture and society professional sports, especially football, has always been a
major component. It has been used for entertainment as well as promoting and encouraging
qualities and values in those who play like good sportsmanship and how to work as a team. But is
that the only thing it promotes? Footballis essentially a battle to obtain power over the other team
using strength and knowledge in order to win fame and money. In order to gain power one must
be stronger, more masculine, and in most cases more violent. While football does reflect many
great ideals about our society it also reflects back to us many negative ideals. Football reflects
back to us and even determines our ideas that sovereign power is only attainable... Show more

This shaming allows the players to begin to question their masculinity and creates the idea that
they re, quote on quote, feminine . This shifts their playing style to instead of thinking through
the difficulties and questioning things, to reacting to the shame in quick bursts of thoughtless
behavior and aggression. This plays into the idea that femininity does not create strong people
and results in sexism within our society. This use of shame is not only just individually but also
is used against the team as a whole and creates a false perception of how to encourage the right
behavior. Shame feeds off the idea of guilt as an encourager rather than the idea to persevere and
win from hard work and knowledge. This shaming can be seen in other instances like in schools,
in the business world, and even against women who have been sexually assaulted. We begin to
believe and expect that shaming someone will increase the likelihood that people will change and
begin to win , when that s not always the

Marketing Australia for the Commonwealth Games
As a part of the marketing team for the commonwealth games hosted in Glasgow in 2014, I have
decided to market in Australia. I have chosen Australia, on account of them winning the event 11
times. Personally, I think they will have a larger a fan base due to the fact they are favourites of
winning the event once again. Another reason to why I chose Australiais by virtue of them having a
longstanding relationship with Scotland. In 2011 a census was carried out and 103,204 citizens
where Scottish Australians and 1,792,600 claimed Scottish ancestry (National Records of Scotland,
2011). Statistics listed in the above will make it more inviting for tourist from Australia to come
and watch the Commonwealth games.
PEST Analysis

The UK Government (Scotland wise) have a strong tie with the Australian Government. VISA
processes will be easier to obtain, even though Australia is not in the EU. There is an Australian
consulate within Edinburgh. Therefore, families can help other family members back in Australia
to attain the UK Visa. In Australia, the Scottish embassy can be located in Sydney, Canberra and
Perth. As part of my marketing plan, handing out brochures and flyers about the commonwealth
games in Scotland inside all the Consulates and Embassies regarding Scotland and Australia will be
incredibly beneficial in receiving more tourists for the event. A contract stating that during the
Commonwealth games VISA s should not be longer than a month, in order to avoid

Social Convention and Samuel Butler s Erewhon
Social Convention and Samuel Butler s Erewhon
There are many conceivable explanations that have the potential to
rationalize the preservation of society through time. These
explanations clarify the fact that society, since its inception, has
continued to exist. I assert that the precise reason for this
self perpetuation is convention, and moreover, that convention
encompasses all of the other possible explanations for this
continuance. Yet this conclusion merely follows from proper
distinctions of terminology. Real profundity stems from the
examination of convention in relation to individuals who follow it. I
find that many individuals are not cognizant of the fact that society
rests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, convention is a requirement of society.
Members of a given society must agree upon basic principles to be able
to share them. In American society, the use of English as a common
language, the use of dollars as an exchange for goods and services and
the use of traffic lights as a means for order are all conventions.
Mostly everyone who drives agrees that when a traffic light is red, it
means stop. When people stop following this convention, car accidents
occur. On a much broader scale, if people stopped following the
conventions of English as a common language and dollars as an exchange
for goods and services, American society would fall apart.
When usually speaking about convention and society, individuals
usually converse about religion and hand shaking, not language. Yet
one must realize that language is just as much a convention as hand
shaking is. Language is a general agreement about basic principle,
how to communicate verbally. Furthermore, I assert that religion and
hand shaking are not essential elements of the framework of American
society while English and dollars are. This distinction is often
overlooked and must be clarified.

The Effects Of Violent Video Games On Adolescents
The Impact of Violent Video Games on Adolescents
Jessica Fentress
University of the Cumberlands Abstract
Violence in association with video games has been a debate that has been circulating for some
time now. In light of the onslaught of recent public shootings, most shooters being adolescent
males, research is resurfacing once again posing the question, Do violent video games influence or
cause extreme aggressive behavior and cognition? The research suggests that while violent video
games may stimulate internal arousal, there is no evidence to support the theory that violent video
games actually cause or provoke adolescents to commit violent crimes. Around 90% of children in
the United States play video games. 80 % of video game sales are violent games. Juvenile crime and
arrest rates have declined 48% since 1996 indicating that violent video games do not prompt
adolescents to commit violent crimes.
Video games are considered among the top forms of entertainment for youth in America. An
estimated 90% of adolescents play video games, spending approximately 2 hours per day,
sometimes more digitally interacting with the world around them (Prot, McDonald, Anderson,
Gentile, 2012). The top selling video game titles are ones with concentrated violence and many
times first person shooters such as the Call of Duty series. Because of their growing popularity, and
the violent crimes that have been directly associated with them, video games have become a

The Tort Of Negligence Is The Most Important Area Of...
The tort of negligence is the most important area of modern tort. It is the main tort of concern to
business ventures (O Toole, 2014). Its major aim is to compensate the claimant. It is a breach of a
duty that defendant owes to the plaintiff, resulting in damage to the claimant. It is not related to a
particular act but with a way of acting and is thus harder to define. The basic elements of the tort of
negligence are a legal duty on part of the defendant towards the claimant to exercise care as falls
within the scope of a duty, breach of that duty, and consequential foreseeable damage to the
claimant that can be attributed to the defendant s conduct. Till the nineteenth century, liability in
negligence exists only in recognized cases,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of Home Office v Dorset Yacht Co (1970) Lord Reid appreciated the neighborhood
test and suggested in his Dicta to take it a step forward. This view was subsequently endorsed in
Anns v Merton London Borough Council (1978) where Lord Wilberforce proposed a two stage
approach. The large expansions in the areas of tort took place after the formulation of this test.
This criterion altered the way in which the neighborhood test was used. Previously the courts
had to used it to justify new areas of liability if there were policy reasons for excluding it. In
other words, policy was now to operate as a long stop. The general principle established in Anns
came under heavy criticism both from the judiciary and the academics. The first major criticism
can be fund in the case of Governors of the Peabody Donation Fund v Sir Lindsay Parkinson and
Co Ltd. Lord Keith noted that there was a tendency to treat the test in Anns as if it was of
definitive character. A more fundamental assault was launched on the test in the case of Yuen
Kun Yeu v Attorney General of Hong Kong (1988), in which it was held, that for the future it
should be recognized that the two staged test was not to be regarded as in all circumstances a
suitable guide to the existence of a duty of care. The case of Murphy v Brentwood District Council
(1991) finally cleared the air with regard to this

Hollywood Production Code Essay
The film history of Hollywood is an extremely intriguing and intense. The film industry flourished
in the 1890s, when motion picture cameras were invented and film production companies started to
be established. It is fascinating how short films displayed in nickelodeons soon developed into
feature films shown in luxurious movie palaces across the country. Technology was improving at a
fast rate and later on new filmtechniques such as artificial lighting, fire effects and enhanced movie
sets were introduced. Films, and Hollywood
itself, were distinctly and permanently changed by the technology and innovation
presented amid this time. For example, one of the developments that changed Hollywood forever
is sound. Silent films vanished as soon as films with sound, better known as talkies were created.
Furthermore, around this same time period, individuals possessed immense moral shifts powered
by religious groups during the Great Depression, which resulted in decisions that created a new
revolution that dealt particularly with the regulation of content of films. Consequently, in 1934, at
the same time that the Golden Age of Hollywood began, the Hollywood Production code was
formally implemented. Relatively few individuals are knowledgeable about the process and story
encompassing the code. However, the analysis of the Pre Code film Baby face can be a valuable

Illegal Online Music Downloading, The Consequences For The...
The internet is one of the greatest and most significant inventions of the 20th century. It has become
the biggest data foundation to receive all kinds of information, particularly knowledge related to
education and improving one s skills. Downloads are needed in order to receive data from computer
networks which are remote systems, typically a server. Copyrighted content needs to have
appropriate permission to download it and without this permission doing so could constitute
copyrightinfringement. According to Towers (2011), on line piracy generally refers to sharing over

Summary Of Esther Hautzig s The Endless Steppe
How would you feel if you and your family were suddenly taken from your home and lost all
your money and then are forced to move to a place that is nothing like where you lived before?
This is a sad, true story of what happened to a little nine year old girl named Esther Rudomin and
her family in the book The Endless Steppeby Esther Hautzig. Esther and her family were suddenly
seized by Soviet troops because they are accused of being capitalists, or enemies of the people,
and are deported to the grasslands of Siberia. This book is the story of a girl and her family s
determination to survive during the harsh surroundings after being exiled during World War II. In
1941, Esther lived in the town of Vilna, Poland. One June day, Esther and her family are
suddenly arrested by Russian soldiers and are taken away from their home. They were taken on a
six week journey to a Siberian labor camp in Russia. There they were forced to work, Esther s
mother and father worked in a gypsum mine. Father drove the wagon, Esther s mother
dynamited, and her grandmother shoveled gypsum. Esther weeded the potato field. Esther was
also forced to make clothes for the few rich people of the village, which she would only get a
payment of a bit of bread and milk. Although they had shelter, they still had to face hunger and
Siberia s cold winter and summer heat. There are many characters in this book, starting with the
main character Esther, who in the beginning was living a wealthy and privileged life. Esther had
to mature quickly during her time spent in Siberia. She realized that everything doesn t always
come easy like it did for her back home in Poland. Esther wasn t the only one in the family that
changed while in Siberia, her mother before wasn t always so loving, instead she was strong
minded as Esther explained. Esther loved her father and she would call her father Tata, but he
was drafted into World War II and was forced to serve at the Russian front. Nikolay, Natasha and
Katia where a couple and their baby with whom Esther enjoys living with in Siberia. Esther did
have a bit of a love story in this book because she wanted to be one of the newspaper editors just be

receding colonies. American literature as a whole is the written literary work, and the new England
colonies were the center of early American literature. American drama attained international status
only in the 1920s and 1930s, with the works of Eugene O Neil, who won four Pulitzer prizes and
the Noble prize. During the Middle of the 20th century, American drama was dominated by the
works of eminent playwright Tennessee Williams and Arthur Miller, as well as by the maturation of
the American music. American literature is a branch of English literature and independent subject.
American society is composed of different races and ethnicities, as suggested by the name of a title,
and information on different trends, movements, styles and subject themes of American literature.
To be a good American means to understand the simple principles on which our nation was
founded, to observe them in our daily life and fight for them . New bold Morris.

Hladik Golf Company
The Hladik Golf Company is a middle man golf company. We will buy golf products directly
from the major golf suppliers and outlets such as Taylormade, Ping, Callaway, Nike, and Titliest
golf companies. We will buy in bulk to decrease the cost. With the decreased price, my company
will then charge the products in a manner that makes it a profitable venture. It will be a small store
competitor to the giants of the industry. It will focus on having superior service compared to the
competitors. The most important number in a business is the overall profit/loss number. The only
way for a company to survive, is to turn a profit. With sustainability in mind, making a profit is
what will guide decision making. The Hladik Company believes that in order to be viable, a
business has to have this stance. This stance does not exclude corporate outreach, philanthropic
activity, and promotional offers. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If an employer does not have great employees, then a company may have a great overall
direction, but is still a failure. With this system, it is the owners responsibility to have a
successful work system. Being the owner, I will put all of my efforts into the company, but it is
impossible to monitor every aspect at the same time. Knowing my limitations, it is paramount to
hire the best candidates, and I need to fill the employees needs. With any job, training is
required. An uniformed system of training will be installed, and all expectations will be
expressed. It is better to pay for a monotonous training session, then making real world mistakes.
The less mistakes will improve the companies condition. Taking responsibilities will begin with
me. I hope the accountability system through leadership will trickle down from the top to the
basement of the company. Having special programs and paying employees well will be a measure
used to keep good employees to stay with the Hladik Golf

Tuckmans Teams
Katzenbach and Smith (1993a) recognise teams as the basic units of performance in organisations
and identify a team as ...a small number of people with complimentary skills who are committed to
a common purpose, performance goals and approach for which they hold themselves mutually
accountable.
There are a large variety of team types and different studies distinguish them by certain
characteristics such as the team s timespan, work cycle, and the nature of tasks among many others.
For example, Torrington et al. (2002) differentiate the teams by their timespan (temporary or
permanent), range of skills, and a task. They identify the four team types:
Production and service teams;
Cross functional management teams;
Functional teams; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Working closely together towards achieving the common goals, the team has developed a certain
degree of trust and cohesion. Although, cohesiveness can be seen as an obstacle to progress
(CIPP, Unit 1) it is still one of the key characteristics of the team s high performance. It helps to
achieve a greater focus on the process and commitment to the decision making process. It became
clearly visible once the team faced a change. The good level of cohesion and trust let the team
members openly share their concerns, consider each other s feelings and opinions and come to
decisions of how to handle the change in the most effective

Summary Of Missoula By Jon Krakeur
In Jon Krakeur s book, Missoula, he focuses on bringing awareness to the most underreported
crime of acquaintance rape. I believe it is critical for all students, male and female, to be
thoroughly informed on this subject, we need to be aware of the danger, as well as the possible
repercussions, in reporting a rape. As I begin my college journey as a freshman in a new town, I
am thankful Jacksonville State University chose this informative book as the summer read for
incoming freshman. I have never heard of an acquaintance rape, but assumed in beginning this
book that it meant being raped by someone that is a part of one s daily life. As students read this
book, I believe it will be a much needed eye opener to the reality and misguided perception

  • 2. Analysis Of Medea And All My Sons The literary pieces that I chose for my Final Project, I am the classic play written by Euripides, Medea by Euripides constructed in 431 B.C. and All My Sons written by Arthur Miller in 1947. The propose of this paper is to analyze the classical work of Medea and the contemporary work, All My Sons, for their particular storytelling components, themes and the assessment and narrative choices that the authors utilized as it connects to the literary convention of their time period. In addition, I will discuss the likenesses and differences of these two plays with respects to characterization, narrative choices, themes, and literary conventions. She was a powerful and dynamic character in a time when strong women were not depicted in Greek culture. Medea was an unconventional woman in ancient Greek times, and it was uncharacteristic for females in Athenian society to be a heroine and focal point. Medea, the protagonist, was the daughter of Aeetes of Colchis, she was driven by passion and committed horrendous crimes for the love of Jason. Euripides characters are a relatively flat character, and they do not change dramatically throughout the play. The character Medea is cynical, wicked, scheming and unlike any other heroine in ancient times, she blames Jason for her predicament and seeks out revenge against everything that he loved. The opening act takes place in the setting outside of Jason and Medea home in Corinth, Medea standing outside irradiates to the Chorus how Jason victimized her and deserted the family. Like other plays in Greek history, the play included The Chorus which was comprised of the women from Corinth; the there role was to converse with Medea and evoke sympathy for her character. The Nurse, Chorus, and Medea give a history of Medea and Jason s relationship, and the inciting incidence begins. Medea describes how she is distraught and shattered because she sacrificed everything for Jason, yet he is leaving her and their two sons to marry Glauce. • 3. Examples Of Realism In A Doll s House Henrik Ibsen is regarded as the inventor of realism . Realism is a movement in theatre that first began at the end of the nineteenth century. In a realism play social and domestic problems are explored as they would actually happen in a real life situation. We are presented with a portrayal of humanity and life as it occurs in real life. It is evidently clear from reading Ibsen s A Doll s House that this play was written in the form of realism. Ibsen does not shadow any aspect of life in Norway in the nineteenth century in this play. Once everybody thought that everything in the Helmer household was perfectly fine and happy that was all that mattered. Some might argue that this is just Torvald being superficial and that he never really cared for his wife, however as much as I agree with that statement I think the society in which he lived in also played a major part in his opinion on the matter. Everything in society was based on your appearance; you needed to present your life in the best light possible if you were to retain your status. As Torvald, possessed a high status job as the bank manager it is clear that his reputation was running through his mind when having the conversation with Nora. • 4. Benefits And Benefits Of Alternative Medicine Chapter 2: What You Need to Know Before You Start There are as much traditional medicinal techniques as there are diverse cultures in the world. Which is great news, because it would simply mean that people wishing to use alternative medicine as a way to heal themselves would have the luxury to choose, the ones that better meet their expectations, or the ones they believe work the best, as well as the ones that can fit their lifestyles, because, let s face it, most people would rather look for an easy to follow technique that can be done at home and without necessarily making an appointment with a professional therapist. Let s now have a look at the main branches of traditional medicine (at least the ones commonly used in Western societies today). The Main Fields of Relative Medicine and Their Benefits Many therapists are making a fortune by offering to their clients / patients what they call a safer and more natural alternative than modern medicine. According to the BLS also known as the Bureau of Labor Statistics, traditional practitioners or therapists make an estimate of $73,400 a year (this is a median salary). Which is not bad, and indicates that perhaps some disciplines in traditional medicine pay more than others, as with everything in the Western world, it s all about tendencies and preferences. • 7. Identity In The Metamorphosis In order to be aware of Gregor s transformation in The Metamorphosis, Lacan s theory of understanding reality, supports the idea of identity. Lacan realizes through the mirror stage that it is one thing to see a reflection of oneself, though, it is more complex than this, since a reflection of someone is just an image, one s identity is more than we can see (Lacan 72). In other words, one must alienate themselves from others to compare and reach self recognition. According to Kafka s story, Gregor has felt isolated from the start, and because he travels for his job he barley makes any social interaction, hence his basis for relationships relies in his familyunit where his identity is based on false recognition. The pressure from Gregor s job, and the provision from his family consume his conscience and nothing is left for him other than what his family has intended him to be. This can be related to Lacan s theory of the Imaginary; this idea is associated with the ego (Freud s notion of an individual which serves as a mediator) (Falasiri 2016). The imaginary related to Kafka s story is the image of the insect, between what is real what is unreal, Gregor defines himself as a subject rather than a human being based on other s interpretations of his actions. • 19. Imperialism Relations Essay Imperialism relations are also decided by force today, and the Europeans, the Americans and others have to constantly defend their peace loving community. Every state sees itself threatened by the others, and each claims that it only defends itself against the others. If it were true that all states are merely defending themselves, then they would be able to leave each other alone. The rights which one state ascribes to itself against another state are defended. This is an important point: the interests that states have in each other brings the states into conflict with each other not the desire to be left alone. So one has to explain how a conflict exists in ordinary buying and selling, and it is insufficient to explain the conflict between states by resorting to images from the past. The Fukushima Nuclear Facility Disaster The Fukushima nuclear facility disaster following the March 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami has motivated the need to design and build a small, remotely controlled repair device. The purpose of the device is to navigate using remote control to a specified location, and complete a series of tasks. This will protect the human operators from absorbing a high dose of radioactive contamination. However, after brainstorming together, we finally came up with one design that was easy to succeed and had the capacity to do all the five tasks very fast and easily, which are the magnets that we are using today. Furthermore, in the engineering process we used, we needed to define the main problem and test some designs to get the right one. Lastly, we improved our final design by making it bigger. For the first design, we went to Walmart and we looked for a remote controlled jeep that had some good specifications, but when we saw a lot of RC car options we did not know which one was the best, so we decided to buy one and try it. We found an RC jeep cost us $12.57, which was not much. We made small talk about the size, the tires, the quality, and the way it was combined together. After that, we bought the jeep and started to combine the material we had for the testing together. Unfortunately, the car didn t work because it was bigger than the pipe. We started an argument about how we could make it fit in the pipe, until finally we decided to refund the money and started thinking about using a different device. For the second design, after the first device failed the test we did not give up. We went to Walmart for the second time and looked for a smaller car. We found a lot of different cars, but all the cars did not look like they had very good quality and none looked very fast. We found an RC sports car ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The company is committed to using both plant based and laboratory made ingredients of the highest quality and proven efficacy particularly those with the greatest anti oxidant properties. The company was started by a hairdresser Dennis Paphitis who used to work in a salon. Product wise he started adding essential oils to the commercial hair color, as the smell of ammonia is quiet overwhelming his clients responded well to these less aggressive aromas. He then took this up as a passion and started understanding these ingredients and started working with a chemist on a small range of hair products. Eventually the hair product extended to a hand and body product category and finally skin care. Dennis felt this was an opportunity that was approaching his way. Finally in 1996 he quit the salon and began his extensive research and development in the field of cosmetics. He felt that the marketing of his product was limited just to the salon. • 28. The Shareholder Approach For Managerial Responsibility Essay The Shareholder approach to managerial responsibility was highlighted in Milton Friedman s New York Times article The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase Profits . In essence, that article states that the responsibility of a manager is solely to the shareholders; he or she must follow the shareholders interests as long as it stays within legal and certain social parameters. In this essay, I will further explain Friedman s arguments, address main counterpoints, and ultimately argue that Friedman s conclusion is a correct and normative view of the moral responsibility from the perspective of management in a non private company. The shareholder approach to managerial moral responsibility has a few main points that are necessary to address in explaining Friedman s argument, especially in the context of distinguishing the approach from other arguments that have been suggested as alternative approaches. Friedman s first two arguments are similar in nature they both point out the lack of ownership of a firm s assets by the managers. In his article, Friedman writes: The stockholders or the customers or the employees could separately spend their own money on the particular action if they wished to do so. The executive is exercising a distinct social responsibility, rather than serving as an agent of the stockholders or the customers or the employees, only if he spends the money in a different way than they would have spent it. It has been used for entertainment as well as promoting and encouraging qualities and values in those who play like good sportsmanship and how to work as a team. But is that the only thing it promotes? Footballis essentially a battle to obtain power over the other team using strength and knowledge in order to win fame and money. In order to gain power one must be stronger, more masculine, and in most cases more violent. I have chosen Australia, on account of them winning the event 11 times. Personally, I think they will have a larger a fan base due to the fact they are favourites of winning the event once again. Another reason to why I chose Australiais by virtue of them having a longstanding relationship with Scotland. In 2011 a census was carried out and 103,204 citizens where Scottish Australians and 1,792,600 claimed Scottish ancestry (National Records of Scotland, 2011). Statistics listed in the above will make it more inviting for tourist from Australia to come and watch the Commonwealth games. PEST Analysis POLITICAL The UK Government (Scotland wise) have a strong tie with the Australian Government. VISA processes will be easier to obtain, even though Australia is not in the EU. There is an Australian consulate within Edinburgh. Therefore, families can help other family members back in Australia to attain the UK Visa. In Australia, the Scottish embassy can be located in Sydney, Canberra and Perth. As part of my marketing plan, handing out brochures and flyers about the commonwealth games in Scotland inside all the Consulates and Embassies regarding Scotland and Australia will be incredibly beneficial in receiving more tourists for the event. These explanations clarify the fact that society, since its inception, has continued to exist. I assert that the precise reason for this self perpetuation is convention, and moreover, that convention encompasses all of the other possible explanations for this continuance. The Effects Of Violent Video Games On Adolescents The Impact of Violent Video Games on Adolescents Jessica Fentress University of the Cumberlands Abstract Violence in association with video games has been a debate that has been circulating for some time now. In light of the onslaught of recent public shootings, most shooters being adolescent males, research is resurfacing once again posing the question, Do violent video games influence or cause extreme aggressive behavior and cognition? The research suggests that while violent video games may stimulate internal arousal, there is no evidence to support the theory that violent video games actually cause or provoke adolescents to commit violent crimes. Around 90% of children in the United States play video games. 80 % of video game sales are violent games. Juvenile crime and arrest rates have declined 48% since 1996 indicating that violent video games do not prompt adolescents to commit violent crimes. Video games are considered among the top forms of entertainment for youth in America. An estimated 90% of adolescents play video games, spending approximately 2 hours per day, sometimes more digitally interacting with the world around them (Prot, McDonald, Anderson, Gentile, 2012). Its major aim is to compensate the claimant. It is a breach of a duty that defendant owes to the plaintiff, resulting in damage to the claimant. It is not related to a particular act but with a way of acting and is thus harder to define. The basic elements of the tort of negligence are a legal duty on part of the defendant towards the claimant to exercise care as falls within the scope of a duty, breach of that duty, and consequential foreseeable damage to the claimant that can be attributed to the defendant s conduct. In the case of Home Office v Dorset Yacht Co (1970) Lord Reid appreciated the neighborhood test and suggested in his Dicta to take it a step forward. This view was subsequently endorsed in Anns v Merton London Borough Council (1978) where Lord Wilberforce proposed a two stage approach. The large expansions in the areas of tort took place after the formulation of this test. This criterion altered the way in which the neighborhood test was used. Previously the courts had to used it to justify new areas of liability if there were policy reasons for excluding it. In other words, policy was now to operate as a long stop. The general principle established in Anns came under heavy criticism both from the judiciary and the academics. The first major criticism can be fund in the case of Governors of the Peabody Donation Fund v Sir Lindsay Parkinson and Co Ltd. Lord Keith noted that there was a tendency to treat the test in Anns as if it was of definitive character. A more fundamental assault was launched on the test in the case of Yuen Kun Yeu v Attorney General of Hong Kong (1988), in which it was held, that for the future it should be recognized that the two staged test was not to be regarded as in all circumstances a suitable guide to the existence of a duty of care. The film industry flourished in the 1890s, when motion picture cameras were invented and film production companies started to be established. It is fascinating how short films displayed in nickelodeons soon developed into feature films shown in luxurious movie palaces across the country. Technology was improving at a fast rate and later on new filmtechniques such as artificial lighting, fire effects and enhanced movie sets were introduced. Films, and Hollywood itself, were distinctly and permanently changed by the technology and innovation presented amid this time. For example, one of the developments that changed Hollywood forever is sound. Silent films vanished as soon as films with sound, better known as talkies were created. Furthermore, around this same time period, individuals possessed immense moral shifts powered by religious groups during the Great Depression, which resulted in decisions that created a new revolution that dealt particularly with the regulation of content of films. Consequently, in 1934, at the same time that the Golden Age of Hollywood began, the Hollywood Production code was formally implemented.
