The Canadian Medical Association Defines Physician...
The Canadian Medical Association defines physician assisted death (PAD) as [when] a physician
knowingly and intentionally provides a person with the knowledge and/or means required to end
their own lives... . (A, p29) In Canada, suicide has been legal for years, but euthanasia and
physician assisted death have only recently been decriminalized in a court of law. However, until
2016, PAD can still be charged as culpable homicide under section 222 and 229 of the Criminal
Code of Canada. (B,K) The specifics of the debate on physician assisted death in Canada has, over
the decades, not significantly changed, but instead Canadians opinions have been shifted since

(B, K) However, it is first important to understand exactly what is being challenged and what
PAD really means. PAD is not to be confused with withdrawal of treatment, since patients have
the right to refuse life sustaining means, such as ventilator assistance or nourishment. (A, I) On
the other hand, PAD has been, up until recently, illegal, even though suicide without assistance
is not. (B) Critics of PAD have expressed concern about abuse and error in assisted death, but less
so about the same margins when it comes to the withdrawal of life sustaining treatment. They
say that there is a clear difference between the act of ending one s life and simply withdrawal of
treatment. (K) However, it is also important to note that this does not mean that those against
PAD are for preserving life at all costs, as witnessed by withdrawing care that does no more than
prolong suffering. (F) Proponents argue that the act of withdrawing life sustaining treatment is
just as likely to lead to death as a physician giving a lethal dose of a substance, so why are
physicians legally required to respect one choice, but not the other? (K) The end result of PAD is
comparable to actions that are legally performed by physicians, such as aggressive palliative care,
and withdrawal of life sustaining treatment. (K) Court Cases For many years, Canada s stance on
the ethical issues regarding PAD has been static, and the 1993 case of

Disadvantages Of Megacities
Overview
Cities exist because of the benefits of centralized production and exchange. By living and working
in cities, we achieve a higher standard of living but also put up with pollution, noise and
congestion. (O Sullivan, 2012)
Megacities are large and highly dynamic systems, and represent concentrated sites of human life as
well as ecological stress and pollution. Due to the combination of pollution and stress as
neighbourhoods grow in size and their resource capacity, the transformation in social environmental
relations is also observed. Over time more local environmental hazards associated with inadequate
services and sanitation is being replaced by risks that accrue at the city scale. Most megacities are
important nodes in the production of pollution and greenhouse emissions which have negative
impacts on populations at regional and also global scales. Historically coastal megacities have
recorded some of the highest economic losses due to disaster events but megacities are also the
centres of capacity, ingenuity and resources. The management of hazards, vulnerability and
environmental management in megacities is very complex, and governance responses require
special attention to the multiple scales of impact. (Mark Pelling, 2013)
Cities around the world are growing at a never experienced rate. Over the past thirty years the

more pressing under conditions of rapid urban growth, which is likely to increase travel demand
significantly. (S. K. Goyal,

Columbia Psy-107 Essay
Overview. The launch of Columbia STS 107 occurred on January 16th, 2003, for a sixteen day
mission. After the launch of Columbia, there were six missions (STS 114 through STS 119)
scheduled to fly before the launch of STS 120 scheduled for February 19th, 2004. During the
launch of STS 107, a piece of foam insulation broke off of the orbiter and struck the left wing of the
shuttle. As a result, when the shuttle renter the atmosphere of Earth the damaged permitted gases
from the atmosphere to deteriorate the wing structure, which ultimately caused the craft to break
away and become unstable. While in orbir, the crewmembers spent hours a day doing scientific
experiments in shifts. Therefore, on February 1st, 2003, the shuttle of Columbia STS 107
disintegrated during entry into the Earth s atmosphere after 16 days in orbit. All seven astronauts

Multiple Intelligence Theory and Learning Styles
Multiple intelligence theory and learning styles
According to my multiple intelligence learning profile, I am an equally strong kinesthetic,
intrapersonal, and existential learner. This suggests I learn by doing, learn best working with
others, and have a big picture orientation. I seek what works in practice rather than theory. In my
view, the fact that I received the same score in all three areas is indicative of the similarity between
these different types of intelligences. For example, existential learners like to synthesize ideas
based on their learning; develop a strong identity with their neighborhood and town; and express a
sense of belonging to a global community (Intelligence profile: Existential, 2012). Tying into my
sense of knowing thyself in relationship to others, I also have a strong intrapersonal intelligence.
This means I am capable of communicating my feelings to others, sensing my strengths and
weaknesses, and show confidence in my abilities (Intelligence profile: Intrapersonal, 2012).
Kinesthetic learners likewise seek to interact with their environment; enjoy hands on activities and
can remain focused on a hands on task for an extended period of time (Intelligence profile:
Kinesthetic. (2012).
I was not disappointed to read about my learning profiles, given that all three intelligences seem to
cohere well with the skills required to succeed in the workplace. Most of the skills demanded today
are learned on the job and employers are

Abe Lincoln and Slavery Essay
Abraham was born a poor farmhand boy in Kentucky, but he moved from small cabins in
Kentucky, Indiana, and finally settled in Illinois. He was a farmhand for his father in these states
and didn t have much exposure to slavery, although, these states did have black/slave laws.
Lincoln got his first dose of slavery at the age of eighteen when he was hired to take a flatboat
down to New Orleans. I quote from Lincoln: A Photobiography Lincoln would never forget the site
of black men, women, and children being driven along in chains and being auctioned off like cattle.
This still didn t change his opinion on slavery (he didn t have one).

When the Kansas Nebraska Act repealed the Missouri Compromise by allowing slavery in the
Louisiana territory forbidden by the Compromise Lincoln was rocketed into an abolitionist
standpoint. He spoke against Stephen Douglas act and campaigned for anti slavery Whigs.
Lincoln spoke harshly against slavery, even going so far as to call it a cancer . In 1856 Lincoln
switched to the Republican Party solely because the Whigs couldn t be absolutely against
slavery as a party, while the Republicans strongly disfavored slavery. In 1858 Lincoln fought
against Stephen Douglas in a battle for the senate. They held three debates, Lincoln strongly
favoring abolition while Douglas stayed at a position in which he believed in white supremacy
saying, I am not in favor of Negro equality . At this point in his life Lincoln was a leading
abolitionist and fully fledged against slavery. Lincoln lost the election by a slim margin but didn t
even stop fighting; in fact the fight had just begun. Lincoln was elected to run for the Republican
president in 1860. Lincoln new that since he strongly despised slavery that he wasn t going to win
any slave states; so he strongly campaigned in the north. For this action he became the president
elect. Because of his election, South Carolina seceded from the union. Lincoln wanted to preserve
the union without bloodshed, but that didn t happen. At the beginning of the Civil War Lincoln

пЃ¶Resource Sharing Computer resources can be shared in the network such as the printer,
scanner, modem etc. This allows us to track down the uses of resources. For example, a network
administrator can set up a printer server and share it in the network. Then the user can use printer
server for printing. Now administrator needs only to monitor the print server instead of individual
workstations. This is economically better. пЃ¶Application Sharing Application sharing is the most
common in companies. Companies may have a business application that needs to be updated by
several users. Sharing make it possible. It allows several users to work together on a single
application. пЃ¶Economic benefits With computer networking, you can use a lot of software and
hardware available on the market which can just be stored or installed on a server and can be used
by various workstations. Dis Advantage: пЃ¶Need of Technicians The network should be checked
frequently monitored for good performance and no problems on its physical and logical
component. The expert technicians are required to do so it cost a lot of money to hire them for all
time пЃ¶Network failure If any server like the file, print etc. fail then the whole network is
affected. If any hardware fails the nodes cannot be used. пЃ¶Expensive It is expensive to build and
run the network. Expensive hardware like a router, cables, hub,

Premarital Sex And Its Effects
In a study conducted in the United States, 61 percent of men and 12 percent of women born
prior to 1910 admitted to having premarital sex; the gender disparity may have been caused by
cultural double standards regarding the admission of sexual activity. Starting in the 1920s, and
especially after World War II, premarital sex became more common; this was especially prevalent
among women. By the end of the 20th century, between 75 and 80 percent of Americans had sex
before the age of 19. During the colonial period, premarital sex was publicly frowned upon but
privately condoned to an extent. Even though premarital sex was somewhat condoned, having a
child outside of wedlock was not. If a pregnancy resulted from premarital sex, the young couple
were expected to marry. Beginning in the 1950s, as premarital sex became more common, the
stigma attached to it lessened for many people. Love began to become enough for a reason to
practice sex, instead of marriageor engagement in the eyes of many. The percentage of ever
married men and women who had premarital sex (20 44 years old) between 2006 and 2010 is
90.6% men and 86% women (www.cdc.gov). A new study of 38.000 Americans has found that 95%
had premarital sex (www.truthdig.com). Another statistic says that 3% of the US population,
represents nearly 10.000.000 person, wait until marriage. These 3% wait to found love, get married
then have sex for the first time after they get married. (waitingtillmarriage.org) .By 2000, roughly a

Socrates Unexamined Life
As a perfectionist, I grew up ignoring my imperfections, mistakes, and failures. I didn t just want
perfection: I needed it. A red slash on a test or a mistake marked an absolute failure. Because I
hid from past mistakes, I never learned from them, making me incapable of growth. I excused
my mistakes and humbly boasted my overall score. I convinced myself that I never actually
made a mistake, so I never learned the information that I had previously missed, thus leading to
more errors to hide. Finally, after years of insisting upon infallibility, I realized it was a problem.
Consequently, I chose to answer the question What s wrong with being wrong? for a project
sophomore year. After months of research on historical leaders, I finally concluded that mistakes
and failures are opportunities to learn and improve. Without error, you will never recognize a need
for change and therefore, you will never improve. Socrates was correct in saying The unexamined
life is not worth living. Life is characterized by the ability to continually change; therefore, by not
evaluating your life, you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone demands perennial improvement along with perfection; however, perfection eliminates
the possibility of improvement. Upon contemplation of these common expectations, it is evident
that they are illogical, unattainable, and therefore defeating. Analyzing life consequently enables a
fuller, happier life. Many argue that an unhappy life is not worth living, providing further support
to Socrates notion. Additionally, Karl Marx concluded that socialism would bring the end of
history because there would be no more struggle, which is what prompted the progression of
history. Hence, without need for change, there is no reason to live. In conclusion, change gives life
purpose by way of propelling movement over

the components manifests different aspect of love. In my own words, this theory is using

Healthcare And Health Care Industry
Introduction: Over the past few decades health care industry in United States is facing three major
problems related to quality, costs and access. The health care expenditure in United States has
increasing drastically over the years and United states still ranks top in health care spending when
compared to other top nations in the world. Despite of having high health care expenditure,
Americans have limited access to health care, spends higher costs for the procedures and getting
poor health care outcomes. In a recent study conducted by common health care fund, it estimates
that United States health care funding is approximately two times higher than top 13 nations in
the world. [1] This report also concludes that despite of having high health care expenditure,
health care costs in united states is very expensive and outcomes are worst when compared other
nations, which spends less gross domestic product on healthcare. To address these limitations in
health care industry in United States, on March 23, 2010, President Barack Obama signed the
patient protection and affordable care act in to law. [2] Overview of patient protection and
affordable care act The patient protection and affordable care is a one of the most comprehensive
and expensive health care reform act with an aim of improving health care access, improving
quality and reducing costs. There are several provisions in the patient protection and affordable care

difficult the path is. Therefore the more difficult path would be the path starting upstream and

Bikram Yoga and Body Fitness
Body fitness is a state asserted to be highly essential in ensuring healthy living. It often realized
through regular physical exercises. Yoga is a technique that may be deemed an old means of
working out however recently most people adopt its use in as a way of ensuring they stay fit
and in shape. For instance, most sports personalities have added yoga to their working out
strategies. Similarly actors use the work out approach to ensure they stay in shape. These factors
along with my other yoga experiences have had me acknowledge the essence of Yoga as perceived
by the diverse individuals. On Sunday April 13, 2014 , I attended Bikram Yoga

session turned out to be an intense form of yoga practice because of the high heat .Initially, what
I knew of yoga was that it was only essential in ensuring physical fitness. However attending the
Bikram yoga class profoundly changed how I view and understand yoga. Bikram yoga is done
in an environment of a humidity of 40% with a temperature of close to 42 C degrees . During
this session, an individual is expected to shed off any heavy clothing and let the heat rise until
they feel it is hot enough. I saw the instructor turn on the fans sometimes but I didn t feel it. I was

organizations have not treated the recruitment process as one of strategic significance, but latterly
many are now waking up to the reality that, world has changed; and no more can the organization

A Report On The Phoenix Aurora

The Phoenix Aurora In the middle of a September night in 2015, Iceland s dancing skies put on a
spectacular show. At around 3:30 am, the flash of a massive phoenix made an appearance and was
gone just as fast. This astronomical phenomenon is called an aurora. The vibrant lights that move
across the dark skies attract the attention of many stargazers, tourists, and astronomers. As a result
of the large attraction, astronomers have studied the interaction between the earth s atmosphere,
magnetic field, and the suns energy. The sun is a vital piece to our planet it provides us with
energy, warmth, food and auroras! The sun is an average star in size and is currently in the main
sequence stage of its life. There are many parts to our sun, which begins at the core. The core is
where the sun s energy derives from, fusing hydrogen to helium. The outer regions of the core is
where the energy travels outward through radiation, then convection, and finally out through the
solar atmosphere. The solar atmosphere consists of three classified parts, a photosphere,
chromosphere, and corona. The drama that unfolds on the chromosphere and corona play a major
role in auroras. Particularly, a massive solar flare classified as a coronal mass ejection. A coronal
mass ejection is a type of solar flare that occur when magnetic fields pointing in opposite directions
release energy by interacting with and destroying each other... their magnetic

Essay On California Gold Rush
The California Gold Rush began on January 24, 1848, when gold was found by James W.
Marshall at Sutter s Mill in Coloma, California. The first to hear confirmed information of the
gold rush were the people in Oregon, the Sandwich Islands, and Latin America, and they were the
first to start flocking to the state in late 1848. All in all, the news of gold brought some 300,000
people to Californiafrom the rest of the United Statesand abroad. Of the 300,000, approximately
half arrived by sea and half came overland on the California Trail and the Gila River trail.
The gold seekers, called forty niners , often faced substantial hardships on the trip. While most of
the newly arrived were Americans, the Gold Rush attracted tens of thousands from Latin America,
Europe, Australia, and China. At first, the prospectors retrieved the gold from streams... Show more

San Francisco grew from a small settlement of about 200 residents in 1846 to a boomtown of about
36,000 by 1852. Roads, churches, schools and other towns were built throughout California. In 1849
a state constitution was written. The new constitution was adopted by referendum vote, and the
future state s interim first governor and legislature were chosen. In September, 1850, California
became a state as part of the Compromise of 1850.
New methods of transportation developed as steamships came into regular service. By 1869
railroads were built across the country from California to the eastern United States. Agriculture and
ranching expanded throughout the state to meet the needs of the settlers. At the beginning of the
Gold Rush, there was no law regarding property rights in the goldfields and a system of staking
claims was developed. The Gold Rush also had negative effects: Native Americans were attacked
and pushed off their lands and the mining has caused environmental harm. An estimated 100,000
California Indians died between 1848 and 1868 as a result of American

The Authentic Masculinity In American Male
The short film American Male shows how the male protagonist was being influenced by the society
s definition of a man. The film starts with the voice over, Order beer. Not wine. And beef, not
chicken. Never light beer, though. And tofu. Can t get more gay than tofu, which clearly reveals the
strong image of the protagonist, and continues with how the manhangs out with his fraternity
brothers, how he works out, and how he tries his best to look cool. In the hazing scene, one of the
newbies accidentally bumped into him when he stood up which resulted to a humiliating scene for
the protagonist. In the end, the protagonist started hitting his buttocks as hard and many times as he
can and repeatedly screamed the word faggot until his fraternity brothers held him back and stop...

Depression Essay
Depression Introduction Depression is a common illness most people are affected by. Every
person has suffered through at least one depression episode if not more. Depression does not
discriminate against age, ethnicity or gender. For some people, depression is so severe they feel
like it s not worth living. Other people feel generally miserable or unhappy without really
knowing why. Definition Depression is a medical illness that involves the mind and body. It
affects how you feel, think and behave. Depression can lead to a variety of emotional and
physical problems (Mayo Clinic, 2011). When Depression occurs, it intervenes with daily
activities and lacks the feeling of any sort of joy or happiness. It also comes between social... Show

Causes of Depression Many things may lead to depression but according to the NIMH (2012),
cutting edge research has presented new opportunities for studying people with depression.
Brain imaging technologies, like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), have shown that the
brains of people with depression actually look different from those of people without depression.
Also Emedicineheath (2012) noted, depression is not caused by personal weakness and is not a
character flaw. When people suffer from depression, chemicals in your brain called
neurotransmitters are out of balance . Many people believe it s a combination of family genes
and/or a stress related event. Reported by MayoClinic (2012) Depression is more common in
people whose biological family members also have this condition . Depression may begin with
a simple difficult situation or a very big stressful event such as lost a loved one, had a baby,
recently divorced, been diagnosed with a long term disease such as diabetes or heart disease.
Experts in Emedicinehealth (2012) suggested sometimes even happy life events, such as a
marriage or promotion, can trigger depression because of the stress that comes with change (para

The Problem Of Computer Programming Education
Through the Educate to Innovate Initiative, the current administration has made the case that
investments in STEM programs (science, technology, engineering and math) are essential to
maintaining the status of international competitiveness. But since the start of the program in 2009,
the importance of computerprogramming educationis still being misunderstood and inadequately
addressed. Though the administration has tried to get more technology into schools, it s failed to
teach kids what could really help them compete internationally which is coding. Computer
programmingis the driving force behind all forms of computer technology. Without programmers,
these machines could be more innovative and capable than mankind could ever imagine, but if
there is no one to program, there is no way for computers to perform needed tasks.
Though technology has become such a key point in the national discussion on education, computer
literacy is still sometimes confused with computer science. While computer literacy refers to word
processing and knowledgeable use of the Internet, computer science refers to the study of
algorithmic processes, hardware and software designs, and ways to impact society with
technological innovation. A general computer science curriculum largely consists of critical
thinking, problem solving, and logic the skills that American students will need in order to compete
for the best jobs, whether or not they become programmers (James, 2013).

How do minerals affect society?
Minerals can affect society in many ways for example; Surface mining destroys vegetation across
large areas, increasing erosion. Open pit mining uses huge quantities of water. Acid mine drainage
is pollution caused when dissolved toxic materials wash from mines into nearby lakes and streams.
Minerals is approximately 80 percent of mined ore consists of impurities that become wastes after
processing. These wastes, called tailings, are usually left in giant piles on the ground or in ponds
near the processing plants (Figure 12.9). The tailings contain toxic materials such as cyanide,
mercury, and sulfuric acid. Left ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vast numbers and kinds of organisms, mainly microorganisms, inhabit soiland depend on it for
shelter, food, and water. Plants anchor themselves in soil, and from it they receive essential
minerals and water. Terrestrial plants could not survive without soil, and because we depend on
plants for our food, humans could not exist without soil either (Wiley, 2013).
What types of organisms are found in soil? Determine the relationship between soil and organisms.
Soil organisms carry out nutrient cycling, the pathway of nutrient minerals or elements from the
environment through organisms and back to the environment.
What is soil erosion? How can soil become polluted? What effect does soil erosion and pollution
have on the environment?
Soil organisms provide ecosystem services such as maintaining soil fertility and preventing soil
erosion. Water, wind, ice, and other agents cause soil erosion, the wearing away or removal of
soil from the land. Soil erosion reduces fertility because essential minerals and organic matter are
removed. Erosion causes sediments and pesticide and fertilizer residues to pollute nearby
waterways ( Wiley, 2009).
What is the purpose of soil reclamation?
To undertake soil reclamation, erosion protection, Site restoration and reinstatement, taking into

Hinduism Monotheistic Religions
Hinduism is one of the oldest religions in the world and it is a dominant religion is South Asia.
The word Hindu comes from the Indus River and was used to name the people who lived beyond
this river. Although Hindus adore many Gods, Hinduism is considered a monotheistic religion. In
this sense, all Gods are part of one main God, the supreme spirit, Brahman. In its article Hinduism:
Beliefs about God, the BBC News website states that, Brahman has many forms, pervades the
whole universe, and is symbolized by the sacred syllable Om (or Aum) (BBC News). Hindus
believe that God created the world and that everything contains a piece of God. The video God,

This law follows the idea of cause and effect. In this sense, one s act will have a consequence,
good or bad, depending on his or her act. This consequence will follow this person from this life to
the next. Dean Halverson states that:
Humanity s primary problem, according to Hinduism, is that we are ignorant of our divine nature.
We have forgotten that we are extended from Brahman and have mistakenly attached ourselves to
the desires of our separate selves, or egos, and thereby to the consequences of the resultant actions.
Because of the ego s attachment to its desires and individualistic existence, we have become subject
to the law of karma. (Halverson)
In order to save one s self from bad Karma, Hindus practice the moksha, which is the liberation
from the wheel of life, death, and rebirth (Halverson). In doing so, one must strive to detach
oneself from the desires of the ego (Halverson). One way to do that is to practice Yoga, which is a
physical and mental discipline that is practiced for the purpose of spiritual liberation or
empowerment (Halverson). That way, by detaching from the physical world, Hindus can feel closer

A Hero Is A Hero
What if you were trapped in a burning building with nobody to come and save you? People need
heroes. Whether you are being robbed or your house is on fire, you need a hero. There is a
reason that heroes are so liked, needed, and wanted in our modern world. It s because heroes
instill order where there is chaos by having the kindness to do something that s right, like stand up
to a bully, but also by having the kindness to do something like rescue a cat from a tree.
The first thing that anybody needs when trying to be a hero is courage to do something right. A
hero has to have the courage to do something that is right no matter how hard or how big the task
really is. The man in the water is a good example of this because Lenny Skutnik didn t hesitate
for a split second about jumping into the water to save that lady and the man that was in the
water didn t hesitate about passing on the life preserver. It s something I never thought I would
do referring to his jumping into the water to drag an injured woman to shore... somebody had to
go in the water (pg 12 Man in the Water). He jumped in the water to save someone because he
knew that it was the right thing to do and he had the courage to do it. Every time they lowered a
lifeline and floating ring to him he passed it on to another of the passengers. (pg 12 Man in the
Water). The man in the water also had the courage to do what was right because even though he
knew he would probably die, he wanted the others to live which takes a tremendous amount of
courage. Whale Tale is also a good example for this because Michael Fishbach risked everything,
life and boat, to help a humpback whale. He swam into the water with the humpback whale that
was tangled up in the net knowing all to well that he could die from one frantic movement and
that is the courage that makes him a hero, he also was cutting the net off of the whale and had to
let it tow him around knowing that it could tip over the boat in an instant and that is why he is
recognized as a hero and that is because he had the courage to do something right while knowing
that he and his crew could have died. In order to believe in yourself as a hero and in order to be
recognized as a hero you have to

Michigan Basketball History
Michigan basketball is in rare territory as a consistent inside presence is the missing piece to the
Wolverines postseason success puzzle.
Despite earning a 2016 NCAA Tournament bid, the Wolverines didn t do enough in postseason
play to satisfy the Michigan faithful s desire to enjoy a deep March run. Michigan fans are well
aware of the Wolverines wild success in the tournament preceding this year s first round loss to
Notre Dame. Arguably the best backcourt in the nation in 2013, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Trey Burke

Michigan has a few candidates to fill the void in the middle. Mark Donnal showed flashes of
promise this season, and given that he ll be a senior next season, Donnal could help the
Wolverines. Ricky Doyle, a 6 foot 9 sophomore, didn t exactly scream breakout potential after
averaging 3.8 points and two rebounds per game in an expanded role this season.
Moritz Wagner, a freshman from Berlin, Germany, played an extremely limited role during the
Wolverines regular season. However, in Michigan s upset win over the Indiana Hoosiers on
March 11, Wagner went 2 for 2 from the free throw line and 3 for 3 from the field, including a

throughout season, even from the bench. The team first mentality is something many young
players lack, and it will serve Wagner well in the future. Expect to see a major increase in minutes

Johnny Cash The Man In Black Essay Thesis
Johnny Cash, the Man in Black, was a singer, guitarist and songwriter whose music innovatively
mixed country, rock, blues and gospel influences. No other artist has touched the world of music
quite like Johnny Cash did. He is the only person to be inducted into the Country Music Hall Of

Cultural Beliefs And Influences Of Marijuana Use
Cultural Beliefs and Influences of Marijuana Use
There have been many cultures that have used marijuana for medicine. For instance, the Chinese
culture used the oil found in the plant for medical purposes. Medicine men would use it to treat
menstrual fatigue, gout, rheumatism, malaria, constipation, absent mindedness and surgical
anesthesia (Spicer, 2002). However, according to the Tao religion, cannabiswas noted to be
considered a yin. Cannabis is regarded in contempt because it weakens the body when eaten
(Spicer, 2002). Taoism considered only substances filled with yang, those that invigorate the body,
as favorable (Spicer, 2002).
Cannabis is also used medically in India s culture. Folk medicine often threw hemp into the fire to
aid an individual into overcoming evil forces that afflicted them. Traditional providers used
cannabis to treat congestion, diarrhea, and to cure fevers (Spicer, 2002). On the other hand, the
African tribe used cannabis to treat snake bites, facilitate child birth, and as a remedy for anthrax,
malaria, black water fever, blood poisoning, dysentery, and asthma (Spicer, 2002).
Religion and the Use of Marijuana Most religions condemn the use of marijuana for recreational
use. In Islam for example, marijuana is considered an intoxicant and all intoxicants are prohibited
(Waqar, 2015). For Christians, the recreational use of marijuana is used with the intent of achieving
intoxication, making it a sinful action (Carter, 2014). When it

John Stuart Mill Is A Man Essay
John Stuart Mill is a man that has been immortalized by the public as both a genius, and a man
before his own time. He has made countless contributions to philosophy, ethics, economics, and
politics; he was a man not afraid to speak his mind, often to a candour level that become
expected of Mill s works (Browne 274). This frankness became attached to Mill s, as he was
typically swift and cunning in the disablement of opposing views and logical backing of his
own. However, because of this, and his often debated stances, Mill often faced scrutiny over his
beliefs, from authors such as Matthew Browne. His opponents were often quick to say how
much it pains them to argue against Mill s point of view. As Browne said, To any one who
regards the genius and character of Mr. Mill with such serious homage as the writer of these
lines, it is a task of peculiar difficulty, and also a considerable pain, to express, and especially to
express in public, strong though qualified dissent from his opinions upon an important question
(Browne 273). However, before we indulge into both the greatness and questioning of Mill s
work it is important to understand how this man came to be. I remember one day asking my
father why it was that he pushed me so hard and seemed to always expect the best out of me.
Upon saying this I saw a softness enter his eyes, one that I had seen before, but in some way one
that made me feel sadden as I suddenly saw the age enter his face. I knew he was going to say

the power is what the majority of the people want or seek. The American Dream is an equal
opportunity where every U.S citizen can achieve and prosper in the pursuit of determination,
dedication, and hard work . According to the book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Jay
Gatsby, the main character he s view on the American Dream was that in America it s still viewed
as the land of opportunity, with endless of opportunities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gatsby lives in the past, he doesn t realize that Daisy has moved on. She now is married and has
a child He is holding back to that love they once had together and now wants to recreate it. The
green light is a representation of Gatsby s hopes and dreams. In chapter one, Gatsby reaches for
the green light this symbolizes that the light is guiding him to his ultimate goal which is
winning Daisy back and being able to recreate the past . Daisy s home is across from Gatsby s
home and the fact that Gatsby lives far away from her it means that he ll never be able to be
with her because of his class of being New money and Daisy being Old money and how he won t
necessarily be accepted by the old money class. Making this a sad dream that won t come true. I
believe that the American Dream is an elusive fantasy because of how Americans in today s
society are using the wrong ways of being able to attain their dream by selling drugs or robbery
and much more. In order to attain the riches that he had, Gatsby involved himself into becoming a
bootlegger which made him the person that he was, a wealthy, partying rocking man in the
category known as New money. He did it because his dream was to be with Daisy and the only way
he could reach that goal of his was

Urban Runoff Is The Primary Source Of Ocean Pollution
The oceans need to be protected because it is where life began and if not taken care of, life as
we know it will end. The well being of the ocean is constantly being threatened and needs to stop.
When dangerous substances go into the ocean, ecosystems suffer and become endangered along
with the lives of people and marine life. The importance of protecting and preserving the quality
and biodiversity of the world s coasts must be recognized because they are truly irreplaceable. If
humans are not educated , and become careless about what is thrown on the ground or sprayed
on lawns, disastrous effects follow when it comes to the condition of the ocean s ecosystems,
which can endanger life itself, leading to a problem only we can correct. There is historical
evidence of ocean pollution, although the problem still shadows us today. One of the most poorly
understood causes ocean pollution is urban runoff. Urban runoff is also one of the leading causes
of ocean pollution, Surfrider agrees, Urban runoff is often the primary source of ocean pollution.
The Ocean Friendly Gardens (OFG) Program educates and assists people in creating landscapes
that utilize native plants, permeable ground covers and water retention features to prevent urban
runoff, create wildlife habitats and design beautiful spaces (Surfrider). Surfrider has a program
called The Ocean Friendly Gardens where Surfrider goes to different areas that are more prone to
urban runoff and creates a garden using native

Essay about The Research on Bipolar Disorder
The human brain is a very complex system, much like a city it strives for order and efficiency.
However a patient with Bipolar Disorder has a very chaotic type of brain function; causing
changes in mood and sometimes suicidal thoughts Bipolar Disorder is a common psychiatric
mood disorder that is defined by recurrent episodes of abnormally elevated mood and depression,
changes in energy and, the ability to carry out day to day tasks. (Joel, Jakosson and colleges)
Bipolar Disorder (BD) is a chronic disease with high risk of relapse. This disease also results in a
high rate of suicidal mortality. (Sabrina, Paterniti and Jean Claude Bisserbe) Many studies show

They also check through the patient s medical history, and finally have them take a physiological
test. Psychiatrists require the person to answer multiple choice questions or explain the meanings
of drawings and pictures. Responses to test items may reveal a lot about the person s behavior and
moods. (Peacock, Judith) When diagnosing BD a psychiatrist also has to go off of experience and
training, which is why many patients can go several years before being properly diagnosed.
(Peacock, Judith) Doctors don t completely understand what causes BD, but experts believe that it
is caused by unbalanced Neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are chemicals produced by the brain
and they work in conjunction with hormones to carry out all of the body s essential functions.
Noradrenaline, serotonin and dopamine are the three main chemicals that are thought to be
responsible for BD. (WebMD) Noradrenaline, also known as norepinephrine, is a neurotransmitter
and a hormone. Noradrenaline is used in the brain to regulate attention, sleep, learning, and
emotions. It also plays an important role in regulating the body s stress response, regulating normal
functions such as heart rate and regulating the bodies fight or flight response. It is secreted by the
adrenal medualla glands, and is produced by the nerve endings in the

Best NBA Player
Wow, this 2016 17 NBA regular was tremendous for the NBA world. From LeBron becoming an
explosive player again to Russel Westbrook having an amazing triple double run. In order for
him to have surpassed the legend he need to tweak the team chemistry and player like a player
who has a unique usage for a team. I just wonder what the locker room has to be like when Russ
wins the game for his team along with getting season awards such as player of the week. I have
so many wonders, but Russel Westbrooks play this season is the most intriguing that I have.
This season Russel Westbrook averaged a triple double and surpassed Oscar Roberson for most
triple doubles in a season with forty three. He averaged 31 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. In
order for him to have been able to average a triple double this season had to at least have one in
forty one of the eighty two season games. Since Russ has achieved an honor that seemed unable
to fully commit to, because of how long the season is he is the 2016 17 regular season most
valuable player[mvp]. Earlier during the season he received plenty of player of the week awards

Even more now this year because Kevin Durant decided to leave and got to the Golden State
Warriors. His teammate trust him so much because in hear nine year career span with them[
drafted by supersonics] he has proven to be clutch and has all the skills necessary to carry the
team. He can be a ball hog and try to score all the points , but instead he passes the ball and that s
why the chemistry on and off the court is so good. He treats his teammates like brothers, even
though he only has one real brother Raynard Westbrook. The urge to win that Russ has is so
great that he puts aside all his pity and do all he can to bring home a championship, even though
now he can t because his team just lose to the Rockets in the first five games of a best out of

The Definition of Organic Foods Should Be Redefined Essay
Organic versus non organic foods are always being debated to whether they are worth the extra
cost. This seems to be an easy question, at first, but begs a more in depth analysis to come to a
conclusion. Organic definitions can vary by government, company and even individuals. Many
people have their own ideas of what organic means. My personal definition, before this research
assignment, was that organic products were grown with no pesticides, chemical additives, or
preservatives and grown in a humane way. Meaning that if it said 100% organic, that is what was
meant. This however, is not the case when it comes to the government s definition of organic,
according to T. A. Niewold who wrote, Organic More Healthy; Green Shoots in a... Show more

If these claims prove to be true, as some research suggests, then this may be well worth the cost
if one can afford them. In the case of the meat we eat, how do we know that it is truly organic
(hence the necessity for a more strict definition), and why do we even need it to be? There are
several reasons for us to eat organic meat, depending on what the definition ultimately ends up
being. One reason to eat organic meat is the fact of the spread of Bovine spongiform
encephalopathy or what is more commonly known as Mad Cow Disease. There is a human
form of this disease called New Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (NCJD). This disease was first
brought to light in the 1990 s in Europe by the discovery of link between these two diseases
(Freudenrich, 3). If one had lived in Europe in the early 90 s, for at least six months, (as my
family and I did) they may have been exposed to this disease. In the past, cows (who are naturally
herbivores) were fed remnants of dead and dying sheep. Sheep that possibly had the disease
called, Scrapie which is similar to BSE, and could explain the reason for the infection to have
started in cows, eventually jumping to humans (Freudenrich, 6). The theory of how this disease
came about varies, but one of the most prevalent relates to a protein called a prion . These prions
are allowed access to the

Benefits Of Electronic Medical Record
Introduction
There are many benefits of using electronic medical record (EMR). This paper will discuss the
benefits of electronic medical record for the physicians, patients, and the healthcare organizations.
Benefits of EMR for Physicians There are so many benefits for physicians to use electronic medical
record, for example, they can eliminate a tremendous amount of paperwork since most of their
charting is done on the computer. Another advantage of using electronic medical recordis the fact
that it allows for easy transfer of data or information to other departments or medical providers.
This ability of the electronic medical record helps to eliminate errors, it also less time consuming
and it prevents physicians and patients from repeating the same test. It also helps to prevent
patients from over exposing their body to unnecessary radiation. It is also important to note that
healthcare insurance is also enjoying this feature of the electronic medical record since they are
saving money whereby they will not have to pay for duplicate testing. The electronic medical
record being able to transfer patients data and information from one provider to the next is
important since it allows collaborations among various departments and healthcare facilities, also,
physicians do not have to worry about paperwork being misplaced or misfiled. Most patients find
themselves at some time or another gone to another healthcare facility that is not affiliated with
their current

Air Taxi Industry Case Study
1. Is the air taxi industry poised for take off? What customer segments are most likely to lead to
success?
I undoubtedly agree that the air taxi industry will find success, however, I do think that it may
take a couple more years for it to truly reach a point of full potential. This is largely due to the
current difficulties in building and maintaining a fleet of VLJ s. There is such a high demand for
the Eclipse 500, the best VLJ currently on the market, which has worked very well to slow growth
in this industry space. When the development and manufacturing of these planes become more
streamlined, I think it will be easier for air taxi companies to build their fleet and expand into new
regions within and outside of the United States. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though company s currently using charters may have the money to do so, all businesses are
looking to better their bottom line, and traveling using an air taxi is a definite way to save both
time and money.
2. The airline industry is often considered an unattractive industry, with high variability of
performance and problems of overcapacity? Is the air taxi industry any different?
The air taxi industry is very different from the original airline industry. For Linear air at least,
they handle bookings on a per plane, per hour basis. This scheduling model helps to eliminate
the problem that commercial airlines have because there will be no planes flying for little to no
reason. By this, I mean that a lot of commercial flights end up flying with several empty seats or
seats sold at a discounted rate. With the high cost of flying a larger plane, when seats are empty
or sold for less it is almost not worth it to have that flight in the first place. For Linear air,
charging on a per plane basis allows them to ensure that no plane is flown without need. Along
with this, the air taxi industry works around customer need, and customers have the ability to book
flights with shorter notice. This in turn, however, means that a flight may not always be available
but, does help to assist with overcapacity issues. Specifically, for Herp and Linear Air, they are
expanding their air taxi Capacity watchfully, with only 960 revenue hours, per plane, per

  • 2. The Canadian Medical Association Defines Physician... The Canadian Medical Association defines physician assisted death (PAD) as [when] a physician knowingly and intentionally provides a person with the knowledge and/or means required to end their own lives... . (A, p29) In Canada, suicide has been legal for years, but euthanasia and physician assisted death have only recently been decriminalized in a court of law. However, until 2016, PAD can still be charged as culpable homicide under section 222 and 229 of the Criminal Code of Canada. (B,K) The specifics of the debate on physician assisted death in Canada has, over the decades, not significantly changed, but instead Canadians opinions have been shifted since information from Belgium, Columbia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (B, K) However, it is first important to understand exactly what is being challenged and what PAD really means. PAD is not to be confused with withdrawal of treatment, since patients have the right to refuse life sustaining means, such as ventilator assistance or nourishment. (A, I) On the other hand, PAD has been, up until recently, illegal, even though suicide without assistance is not. (B) Critics of PAD have expressed concern about abuse and error in assisted death, but less so about the same margins when it comes to the withdrawal of life sustaining treatment. They say that there is a clear difference between the act of ending one s life and simply withdrawal of treatment. (K) However, it is also important to note that this does not mean that those against PAD are for preserving life at all costs, as witnessed by withdrawing care that does no more than prolong suffering. (F) Proponents argue that the act of withdrawing life sustaining treatment is just as likely to lead to death as a physician giving a lethal dose of a substance, so why are physicians legally required to respect one choice, but not the other? (K) The end result of PAD is comparable to actions that are legally performed by physicians, such as aggressive palliative care, and withdrawal of life sustaining treatment. (K) Court Cases For many years, Canada s stance on the ethical issues regarding PAD has been static, and the 1993 case of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Disadvantages Of Megacities Overview Cities exist because of the benefits of centralized production and exchange. By living and working in cities, we achieve a higher standard of living but also put up with pollution, noise and congestion. (O Sullivan, 2012) Megacities are large and highly dynamic systems, and represent concentrated sites of human life as well as ecological stress and pollution. Due to the combination of pollution and stress as neighbourhoods grow in size and their resource capacity, the transformation in social environmental relations is also observed. Over time more local environmental hazards associated with inadequate services and sanitation is being replaced by risks that accrue at the city scale. Most megacities are important nodes in the production of pollution and greenhouse emissions which have negative impacts on populations at regional and also global scales. Historically coastal megacities have recorded some of the highest economic losses due to disaster events but megacities are also the centres of capacity, ingenuity and resources. The management of hazards, vulnerability and environmental management in megacities is very complex, and governance responses require special attention to the multiple scales of impact. (Mark Pelling, 2013) Cities around the world are growing at a never experienced rate. Over the past thirty years the number of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the launch of Columbia, there were six missions (STS 114 through STS 119) scheduled to fly before the launch of STS 120 scheduled for February 19th, 2004. During the launch of STS 107, a piece of foam insulation broke off of the orbiter and struck the left wing of the shuttle. As a result, when the shuttle renter the atmosphere of Earth the damaged permitted gases from the atmosphere to deteriorate the wing structure, which ultimately caused the craft to break away and become unstable. While in orbir, the crewmembers spent hours a day doing scientific experiments in shifts. Therefore, on February 1st, 2003, the shuttle of Columbia STS 107 disintegrated during entry into the Earth s atmosphere after 16 days in orbit. • 5. Multiple Intelligence Theory and Learning Styles Multiple intelligence theory and learning styles According to my multiple intelligence learning profile, I am an equally strong kinesthetic, intrapersonal, and existential learner. This suggests I learn by doing, learn best working with others, and have a big picture orientation. I seek what works in practice rather than theory. In my view, the fact that I received the same score in all three areas is indicative of the similarity between these different types of intelligences. For example, existential learners like to synthesize ideas based on their learning; develop a strong identity with their neighborhood and town; and express a sense of belonging to a global community (Intelligence profile: Existential, 2012). Tying into my sense of knowing thyself in relationship to others, I also have a strong intrapersonal intelligence. This means I am capable of communicating my feelings to others, sensing my strengths and weaknesses, and show confidence in my abilities (Intelligence profile: Intrapersonal, 2012). Kinesthetic learners likewise seek to interact with their environment; enjoy hands on activities and can remain focused on a hands on task for an extended period of time (Intelligence profile: Kinesthetic. (2012). I was not disappointed to read about my learning profiles, given that all three intelligences seem to cohere well with the skills required to succeed in the workplace. Most of the skills demanded today are learned on the job and employers are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was a farmhand for his father in these states and didn t have much exposure to slavery, although, these states did have black/slave laws. Lincoln got his first dose of slavery at the age of eighteen when he was hired to take a flatboat down to New Orleans. I quote from Lincoln: A Photobiography Lincoln would never forget the site of black men, women, and children being driven along in chains and being auctioned off like cattle. In 1856 Lincoln switched to the Republican Party solely because the Whigs couldn t be absolutely against slavery as a party, while the Republicans strongly disfavored slavery. In 1858 Lincoln fought against Stephen Douglas in a battle for the senate. They held three debates, Lincoln strongly favoring abolition while Douglas stayed at a position in which he believed in white supremacy saying, I am not in favor of Negro equality . At this point in his life Lincoln was a leading abolitionist and fully fledged against slavery. Lincoln lost the election by a slim margin but didn t even stop fighting; in fact the fight had just begun. Lincoln was elected to run for the Republican president in 1860. Lincoln new that since he strongly despised slavery that he wasn t going to win any slave states; so he strongly campaigned in the north. For this action he became the president elect. • 10. Premarital Sex And Its Effects In a study conducted in the United States, 61 percent of men and 12 percent of women born prior to 1910 admitted to having premarital sex; the gender disparity may have been caused by cultural double standards regarding the admission of sexual activity. Starting in the 1920s, and especially after World War II, premarital sex became more common; this was especially prevalent among women. By the end of the 20th century, between 75 and 80 percent of Americans had sex before the age of 19. During the colonial period, premarital sex was publicly frowned upon but privately condoned to an extent. Even though premarital sex was somewhat condoned, having a child outside of wedlock was not. If a pregnancy resulted from premarital sex, the young couple were expected to marry. Beginning in the 1950s, as premarital sex became more common, the stigma attached to it lessened for many people. Love began to become enough for a reason to practice sex, instead of marriageor engagement in the eyes of many. The percentage of ever married men and women who had premarital sex (20 44 years old) between 2006 and 2010 is 90.6% men and 86% women (www.cdc.gov). A new study of 38.000 Americans has found that 95% had premarital sex (www.truthdig.com). Another statistic says that 3% of the US population, represents nearly 10.000.000 person, wait until marriage. • 11. Socrates Unexamined Life As a perfectionist, I grew up ignoring my imperfections, mistakes, and failures. I didn t just want perfection: I needed it. A red slash on a test or a mistake marked an absolute failure. Because I hid from past mistakes, I never learned from them, making me incapable of growth. I excused my mistakes and humbly boasted my overall score. I convinced myself that I never actually made a mistake, so I never learned the information that I had previously missed, thus leading to more errors to hide. Finally, after years of insisting upon infallibility, I realized it was a problem. Consequently, I chose to answer the question What s wrong with being wrong? for a project sophomore year. After months of research on historical leaders, I finally concluded that mistakes and failures are opportunities to learn and improve. Without error, you will never recognize a need for change and therefore, you will never improve. Socrates was correct in saying The unexamined life is not worth living. Life is characterized by the ability to continually change; therefore, by not evaluating your life, you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, most sports personalities have added yoga to their working out strategies. Similarly actors use the work out approach to ensure they stay in shape. These factors along with my other yoga experiences have had me acknowledge the essence of Yoga as perceived by the diverse individuals. On Sunday April 13, 2014 , I attended Bikram Yoga class for my yoga exercises known as hot yoga in Bikram yoga Montreal from 5:00pm to around 6:45 pm. This session turned out to be an intense form of yoga practice because of the high heat .Initially, what I knew of yoga was that it was only essential in ensuring physical fitness. However attending the Bikram yoga class profoundly changed how I view and understand yoga. Bikram yoga is done in an environment of a humidity of 40% with a temperature of close to 42 C degrees . During this session, an individual is expected to shed off any heavy clothing and let the heat rise until they feel it is hot enough. At around 3:30 am, the flash of a massive phoenix made an appearance and was gone just as fast. This astronomical phenomenon is called an aurora. The vibrant lights that move across the dark skies attract the attention of many stargazers, tourists, and astronomers. As a result of the large attraction, astronomers have studied the interaction between the earth s atmosphere, magnetic field, and the suns energy. The sun is a vital piece to our planet it provides us with energy, warmth, food and auroras! The sun is an average star in size and is currently in the main sequence stage of its life. There are many parts to our sun, which begins at the core. The core is where the sun s energy derives from, fusing hydrogen to helium. The outer regions of the core is where the energy travels outward through radiation, then convection, and finally out through the solar atmosphere. The solar atmosphere consists of three classified parts, a photosphere, chromosphere, and corona. The drama that unfolds on the chromosphere and corona play a major role in auroras. Particularly, a massive solar flare classified as a coronal mass ejection. • 28. The Problem Of Computer Programming Education Through the Educate to Innovate Initiative, the current administration has made the case that investments in STEM programs (science, technology, engineering and math) are essential to maintaining the status of international competitiveness. But since the start of the program in 2009, the importance of computerprogramming educationis still being misunderstood and inadequately addressed. Though the administration has tried to get more technology into schools, it s failed to teach kids what could really help them compete internationally which is coding. Computer programmingis the driving force behind all forms of computer technology. Without programmers, these machines could be more innovative and capable than mankind could ever imagine, but if there is no one to program, there is no way for computers to perform needed tasks. Though technology has become such a key point in the national discussion on education, computer literacy is still sometimes confused with computer science. While computer literacy refers to word processing and knowledgeable use of the Internet, computer science refers to the study of algorithmic processes, hardware and software designs, and ways to impact society with technological innovation. A general computer science curriculum largely consists of critical thinking, problem solving, and logic the skills that American students will need in order to compete for the best jobs, whether or not they become programmers (James, 2013). • 33. A Hero Is A Hero What if you were trapped in a burning building with nobody to come and save you? People need heroes. Whether you are being robbed or your house is on fire, you need a hero. There is a reason that heroes are so liked, needed, and wanted in our modern world. It s because heroes instill order where there is chaos by having the kindness to do something that s right, like stand up to a bully, but also by having the kindness to do something like rescue a cat from a tree. The first thing that anybody needs when trying to be a hero is courage to do something right. A hero has to have the courage to do something that is right no matter how hard or how big the task really is. The man in the water is a good example of this because Lenny Skutnik didn t hesitate for a split second about jumping into the water to save that lady and the man that was in the water didn t hesitate about passing on the life preserver. It s something I never thought I would do referring to his jumping into the water to drag an injured woman to shore... somebody had to go in the water (pg 12 Man in the Water). He jumped in the water to save someone because he knew that it was the right thing to do and he had the courage to do it. Every time they lowered a lifeline and floating ring to him he passed it on to another of the passengers. (pg 12 Man in the Water). The man in the water also had the courage to do what was right because even though he knew he would probably die, he wanted the others to live which takes a tremendous amount of courage. Whale Tale is also a good example for this because Michael Fishbach risked everything, life and boat, to help a humpback whale. He swam into the water with the humpback whale that was tangled up in the net knowing all to well that he could die from one frantic movement and that is the courage that makes him a hero, he also was cutting the net off of the whale and had to let it tow him around knowing that it could tip over the boat in an instant and that is why he is recognized as a hero and that is because he had the courage to do something right while knowing that he and his crew could have died. This frankness became attached to Mill s, as he was typically swift and cunning in the disablement of opposing views and logical backing of his own. However, because of this, and his often debated stances, Mill often faced scrutiny over his beliefs, from authors such as Matthew Browne. His opponents were often quick to say how much it pains them to argue against Mill s point of view. As Browne said, To any one who regards the genius and character of Mr. Mill with such serious homage as the writer of these lines, it is a task of peculiar difficulty, and also a considerable pain, to express, and especially to express in public, strong though qualified dissent from his opinions upon an important question (Browne 273). However, before we indulge into both the greatness and questioning of Mill s work it is important to understand how this man came to be. I remember one day asking my father why it was that he pushed me so hard and seemed to always expect the best out of me. Upon saying this I saw a softness enter his eyes, one that I had seen before, but in some way one that made me feel sadden as I suddenly saw the age enter his face. I knew he was going to say ... • 41. Urban Runoff Is The Primary Source Of Ocean Pollution The oceans need to be protected because it is where life began and if not taken care of, life as we know it will end. The well being of the ocean is constantly being threatened and needs to stop. When dangerous substances go into the ocean, ecosystems suffer and become endangered along with the lives of people and marine life. The importance of protecting and preserving the quality and biodiversity of the world s coasts must be recognized because they are truly irreplaceable. If humans are not educated , and become careless about what is thrown on the ground or sprayed on lawns, disastrous effects follow when it comes to the condition of the ocean s ecosystems, which can endanger life itself, leading to a problem only we can correct. There is historical evidence of ocean pollution, although the problem still shadows us today. One of the most poorly understood causes ocean pollution is urban runoff. Urban runoff is also one of the leading causes of ocean pollution, Surfrider agrees, Urban runoff is often the primary source of ocean pollution. The Ocean Friendly Gardens (OFG) Program educates and assists people in creating landscapes that utilize native plants, permeable ground covers and water retention features to prevent urban runoff, create wildlife habitats and design beautiful spaces (Surfrider). In order for him to have surpassed the legend he need to tweak the team chemistry and player like a player who has a unique usage for a team. I just wonder what the locker room has to be like when Russ wins the game for his team along with getting season awards such as player of the week. I have so many wonders, but Russel Westbrooks play this season is the most intriguing that I have. This season Russel Westbrook averaged a triple double and surpassed Oscar Roberson for most triple doubles in a season with forty three. He averaged 31 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. In order for him to have been able to average a triple double this season had to at least have one in forty one of the eighty two season games. • 44. The Definition of Organic Foods Should Be Redefined Essay Organic versus non organic foods are always being debated to whether they are worth the extra cost. This seems to be an easy question, at first, but begs a more in depth analysis to come to a conclusion. Organic definitions can vary by government, company and even individuals. Many people have their own ideas of what organic means. My personal definition, before this research assignment, was that organic products were grown with no pesticides, chemical additives, or preservatives and grown in a humane way. Meaning that if it said 100% organic, that is what was meant. This however, is not the case when it comes to the government s definition of organic, according to T. A. If these claims prove to be true, as some research suggests, then this may be well worth the cost if one can afford them. In the case of the meat we eat, how do we know that it is truly organic (hence the necessity for a more strict definition), and why do we even need it to be? There are several reasons for us to eat organic meat, depending on what the definition ultimately ends up being. One reason to eat organic meat is the fact of the spread of Bovine spongiform encephalopathy or what is more commonly known as Mad Cow Disease. There is a human form of this disease called New Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (NCJD). This disease was first brought to light in the 1990 s in Europe by the discovery of link between these two diseases (Freudenrich, 3). If one had lived in Europe in the early 90 s, for at least six months, (as my family and I did) they may have been exposed to this disease. In the past, cows (who are naturally herbivores) were fed remnants of dead and dying sheep. Sheep that possibly had the disease called, Scrapie which is similar to BSE, and could explain the reason for the infection to have started in cows, eventually jumping to humans (Freudenrich, 6). The theory of how this disease came about varies, but one of the most prevalent relates to a protein called a prion . These prions are allowed access to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Benefits Of Electronic Medical Record Introduction There are many benefits of using electronic medical record (EMR). This paper will discuss the benefits of electronic medical record for the physicians, patients, and the healthcare organizations. Benefits of EMR for Physicians There are so many benefits for physicians to use electronic medical record, for example, they can eliminate a tremendous amount of paperwork since most of their charting is done on the computer. Another advantage of using electronic medical recordis the fact that it allows for easy transfer of data or information to other departments or medical providers. This ability of the electronic medical record helps to eliminate errors, it also less time consuming and it prevents physicians and patients from repeating the same test. It also helps to prevent patients from over exposing their body to unnecessary radiation. It is also important to note that healthcare insurance is also enjoying this feature of the electronic medical record since they are saving money whereby they will not have to pay for duplicate testing. The electronic medical record being able to transfer patients data and information from one provider to the next is important since it allows collaborations among various departments and healthcare facilities, also, physicians do not have to worry about paperwork being misplaced or misfiled. • 47. Air Taxi Industry Case Study 1. Is the air taxi industry poised for take off? What customer segments are most likely to lead to success? I undoubtedly agree that the air taxi industry will find success, however, I do think that it may take a couple more years for it to truly reach a point of full potential. This is largely due to the current difficulties in building and maintaining a fleet of VLJ s. There is such a high demand for the Eclipse 500, the best VLJ currently on the market, which has worked very well to slow growth in this industry space. When the development and manufacturing of these planes become more streamlined, I think it will be easier for air taxi companies to build their fleet and expand into new regions within and outside of the United States. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though company s currently using charters may have the money to do so, all businesses are looking to better their bottom line, and traveling using an air taxi is a definite way to save both time and money. 2. The airline industry is often considered an unattractive industry, with high variability of performance and problems of overcapacity? Is the air taxi industry any different? The air taxi industry is very different from the original airline industry. For Linear air at least, they handle bookings on a per plane, per hour basis. This scheduling model helps to eliminate the problem that commercial airlines have because there will be no planes flying for little to no reason. By this, I mean that a lot of commercial flights end up flying with several empty seats or seats sold at a discounted rate. With the high cost of flying a larger plane, when seats are empty or sold for less it is almost not worth it to have that flight in the first place. For Linear air, charging on a per plane basis allows them to ensure that no plane is flown without need. Along with this, the air taxi industry works around customer need, and customers have the ability to book flights with shorter notice. This in turn, however, means that a flight may not always be available but, does help to assist with overcapacity issues. Specifically, for Herp and Linear Air, they are expanding their air taxi Capacity watchfully, with only 960 revenue hours, per plane, per ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
