Indentured Servants and Slaves in the U.S. Essay
A plantation economy, an economy founded on an agricultural mass production like tobacco, sustained
the source of income of the Chesapeake regions, consisting Virginia, Maryland, and northern North
Carolina. The early settlers soon realized the urgent need for labor in the New World. Due to the fact
that many potential immigrants could not afford an expensive trip across the Atlantic, the Virginia
Company developed the system of indentured servitude to attract common laborers. Since tobacco
required intensive hand labor all year round, indentured servants have become vital to the colonial
economy. Virginia Servant and Slave Laws represent the elaborate efforts of masters to profit from
indentured servants and slaves against runaway and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3). Also, slave woman is considered more valuable due to the child. The law enacted in Virginia shows
masters goal to profit from the children of slaves, In 1662, Virginia lawmakers specified that the
children of slave mothers inherited their mothers slave status ( Virginia Servants and Slave Laws, in
Handout Set, p. 2). Under theses harsh circumstances, servants and slaves, regardless of gender and
ethnicity, tend to work together and that became a great fear of the ruling class. Virginia Laws
Governing Servant and Slave reveals the rebellions of servants and slaves who united to fight against
their masters. Bacon s Rebellion, in 1676, occurred in the Virginia Colony in opposition to Virginia s
Indian policy (Roark, The American Promise, p. 79). Bacon s Rebellion demonstrated that poor whites
and poor blacks could be united in a cause, and it shows that they are capable of challenging the ruling
class together. Virginia lawmakers enacted the laws to prevent the servants and slaves from uniting to
fight against masters. According to Document 2: Law Making Slave Status Inherited from Mother,
1662 the Virginia legislators punished interracial sexual relations, And that if any Christian shall

On What Occasions Does Norse Mythology Play an Important...
Introduction On what occasions does Norse Mythology play an important role in Beowulf?
Throughout the story of Beowulf, Norse Mythology has been an important factor of the story s
continuation. While they both have interactions with Christianity, they are both very important. Norse
Mythology has existed as early as the 10th century. Just like how Beowulf, and many other epics have
been told, Norse mythology was preserved through the tradition of oral preservation. Norse
Mythology It is said that there are twelve major Norse gods. This is of similar to the twelve chief
Roman gods and goddesses. Odin was the chief god and only had one eye, while the god of war, Tyr,
only had one arm. This meant that in Northern Europe, this mythology ... Show more content on

During a time of crisis, King Hrothgar also called and prayed for help from the Norse gods. Many
mythological creatures from Norse Mythology appear in Beowulf. Grendel was an ogre that attacked
the Mead hall. The dragon was a flying mystical beast that breathed fire. Many Norse traditions was
also practiced in Beowulf. Many included the death ceremonies, as well as songs. Relationship to
Christianity In Beowulf, the dragon is often referred to as the worm The worm is a biblical allusion to
the serpent in the Book of Genesis and represents evil. Grendel was also a descendent of Cain, the first
murderer in the Bible. Beowulf is seen as a sacrificial scapegoat and is often compared to Jesus. They
both have sacrificed their lives to save many people. Throughout the story, Beowulf repeatedly refers
acknowledges God as his protector. During the battle with Grendel s Mother, Beowulf see s the Giant
s sword. He does not take credit for this and states that God have protected him. One very important
relationship to Christianity is the biblical allusion of Good Vs Evil. This theme has been repeated over
and over in the book. Beowulf is good, and Hrothgar can even represent god. However, evil attacks
good and they have to stop it. The Mead Hall that Hrothgar have built is similar to that of Adam and
Eve s paradise. Conclusion Norse mythology plays a very important role in Beowulf. In Beowulf,
there are many references that help the story s progression as well as

Public Domain Research Paper
The topic of public domain is becoming increasingly important in the modern day. Legislation once
enacted to protect the intellectual property of the individual seems to have been flipped on its head to
do the exact opposite. Copyright was originally created to inspire original works by individual
authors, inventors and scientists for a relatively finite amount of time. In the modern era, we see big
corporate interests pushing for the extension of these deadlines while buying and hoarding copyrights,
using lawyers as guard dogs. Doing so infringes on the consumer s right to choose. Such actions
prevents fair competition in terms of price, quality, and service for an obscene amount of time. Many

They believe that if they came up with the idea then they should be the one benefiting from any
money it brings in. They would prefer to have longer term limits until something goes into the public
domain. The public believes that after a certain number of years the product should become available
to the public. The public also does not agree with Congress increasing the term limits, it is making
things not available to the public until a long time. Some corporations, like Disney, spend large
amounts of money lobbying for Congress to increase the time until something is available to the
public. They do this because they make a large amount of money off of Mickey Mouse and they want
to continue to make a large amount of money from their creation. Not only do Disney and other anti
public domain businesses spend a lot of money introducing and passing bills to extend their
copyrights, but they also have a large influence on the government due to their position as business
leaders. If the congress were to veto their legislation, these powerful companies may decide not to
contribute to certain government

Vietnam Veterans Wall Research Paper
As I recently traveled to Washington D.C. I visited an extremely empowering memorial the Vietnam
Veterans Wall. I walked along the endless panels and the thousands of names, I realized the impact
that this war had on our country and that these names are actual people. They are brothers, fathers,
sons, uncles, friends. These individuals left their family, their wives, their children. Some gave their
lives, and some gave their sanity, but they all suffered for something much bigger. Many Americans
fought in the Vietnam War some against their will, many as young as 18 years of age. They risked
their lives fighting for us, for our country and for a difference. Some soldiers returned home, and
sadly, some did not. Many of whom arrived in April,

Pros And Cons Of Cisco ACI As An Software Defined...
2.4 ACI as an Software Defined Networking Technology SDN is defined as an approach to computer
networking that allows network administrators to manage network services through abstraction of
lower level functionality. This is done by decoupling the system that makes decisions about where
traffic is sent (the control plane) from the underlying systems that forward traffic to the selected
destination (the data plane). The Cisco ACI solution meets all the requirements of this definition, but
to satisfy the requirements of SDN, it must also be able to accommodate the emerging trends in
computing, including: Changing traffic patterns: As explained previously, east west traffic in the data
center is increasing, and next generation data center ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, And Marlowe s The Tragical...
There are several differences in themes, writing styles, and conclusions found within historical British
plays, in particularly the plays of Everyman, The Second Shepherds Play, Shakespeare s Twelfth
Night, and Marlowe s The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus. These plays reflect many of their times
heated topics and concerns. While the endings to each of these plays significantly contrast, the themes
within each play fully prepare audiences for the ending to which will be further explained. Of these
plays, Everyman and Doctor Faustus are perhaps the most similar, yet the most contrasting. While
both appear to explore the subject of death, the act in which they come to their conclusions differ
greatly. For instance, Everyman tries repeatedly to convince company to join him on his journey to
death, while Faustus always has company attempting to persuade him away from his evil deal with
Lucifer or vice versa. As they approach the ending, the stories become opposite as they were in the
beginning. Everyman eventually finds his company, while Faustus must face the consequences of his
deal with Lucifer all alone. The ending of Everyman leaves the audience with a peaceful feeling,
knowing that they too can be accompanied at death by doing good deeds. However, The Tragical
History of Doctor Faustus leaves the audience with a tragic, morbid ending as they watch him join
Lucifer, alone and in despair, regretful of his deal. Shakespeare s Twelfth Night and The Second

Birth Order and the Effect on Your Personality
Birth order and the effect it has on your personality
Some parents often wonder, what, if any, effect birth order will have on their children s personalities.
Genetic factors and other influences play a significannot role, but the birth order within the family
plays a larger role in determining the personality of children. Countless academic studies say your
place in the family is such a strong factor in developing your personality that it can have a major
influence on the rest of your life. Alfred Adler, an Austrian psychiatrist and former disciple of Freud,
acknowledge environmental influences such as social class, geographic origin and relationship with
parents as factors in the development of personality. But it was birth order ... Show more content on

It can cause a lot of stress on the child. Some of the solutions that Wallace suggested was to be alert to
the child s reaction when a new baby is brought home. Address the feelings that the child has about
the birth of the new sibling right then to prevent hostility, anger and resentment later on. Parents
should treat the kids equally, neither will feel resentment for the other nor be able to claim that one is
getting special treatment (Payton). Middle children are often left feeling like the odd one out, not
having the attachment to their parents that their older sibling has but also not being the baby of the
family, who gets the attention heaped on them. This often provokes attention seeking behavior and can
lead to depression or even paranoia in later life (Udall). Many middle children feel overshadowed by
their older and younger siblings. Their efforts to compensate often affect their personality
development ( Parenting Children ). With parents less available to them than to first born, middle
children seem to be more laid back in achievement and more relaxed. Sometimes they need to be
manipulative to satisfy their needs and are good diplomats and quite friendly ( Birth order and your
child ). The middle child tends to be a mediator and negotiator (Payton). The intensity of their struggle
for identity as a middle child will depend on the sex of the child. If

Palestine has a right, under international and natural law, to self determination under the borders
which existed prior to Israel s formation in 1948. The natural governing authority of the new
Palestinian State to be formed within these borders is the Palestinian Authority (PLO) currently led by
Mahmoud Abbas. Given that land was stolen from Palestinian natural sovereignty via actions taken by
Israel in wars which Palestine proper was not a participant to, Israel must also pay reparations to the
Palestinian State as well as its citizens so as to compensate for the crimes against humanity which it
has committed over the course of the last several decades. Cemented by the renunciation of violence
which the PLO has undertaken, Palestinians can no longer be held accountable for the actions of
Hamas and other terrorist groups, and an independent Palestinian state commits to joining the War on
Terror righteously fought by Israel and its allies.
The Minimal Acceptable Borders of a Palestinian State Beginning with the minimal acceptable
borders of a Palestinian State, these must be congruent with the original United Nations Settlement

needed, fix it, then return it to the customer good as new. Machines do work on a wide variety of
things, and on many different difficulty levels. Small engine mechanics do not use computers as much
as larger vehicle mechanics. The only time that a small engine mechanic would use a computer with
the engine is to do some fine tuning on racing motorcycles. Even though the employer will supply
large equipment like the computer, the employee is responsible for their own handy tools. Some
people have thousands of dollars in to their tools. Some people are a small engine repair man as a

job. Employers will still have to see how well you are in basic reading, math, science, and mechanics.
Training to be a full time mechanic anywhere is a lot of work. Trainees will have to retain a lot of
information at once depending on what they are doing. One would start out by simply replacing spark

Three Values of Greek Society in the Odyssey Essay
The world is full of wonders, but nothing is more wonderful than man. This quote shows that the
Greeks valued themselves, but also their intellect in which they know that the world about them is
great. The Greeks valued beauty, art, intellect, honor, and truth; the list is long. Some of these values
are shown through the story of the Odyssey, which tells of the adventures of Odysseus and his family.
In order to understand Greek values and how they are portrayed in Greek society, one must examine
how some values are portrayed in the Odyssey: hospitality, intellect, and beauty. In Greek society,
hospitality is really important. The Greeks strongly believed in their gods, and they always wanted to
be prepared if one came knocking at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of a lack of hospitality was when Odysseus and his men came upon the Kyklopes , and
the one eyed monsters treated them terribly. On first sight they tried to kill Odysseus and all his men.
The Greeks also valued intelligence and intellect. Although there were certain areas in Greece that
valued it more than others, such as Athens, the Greeks were generally an intelligent race of people. An
example from the Odyssey is when Penelope (Odysseus wife, Telemakhos mother) tells her suitors
that she needs to finish weaving a shroud for an old man before she marries. She proceeds to weave on
her loom every day, but unravels it during the night, so that she will never have to marry. Another
example is when Odysseus finally arrives home, and he disguises himself so he can question people
about his home and the situation, all without being noticed. In this way he gained information without
revealing himself. Another important Greek value is beauty. The Greeks strived for the idealistic form
in everything they did: art, literature, beauty, and even in the sciences. The Odyssey portrays Penelope
to be an older woman, but a beautiful older woman, having a hall full of suitors wanting to marry her.
Another example is when Athena changes Odysseus appearance in certain situations, usually making
Odysseus look young and less hardened by all his traveling. A more detailed description of this is
when Odysseus

small percentage who did receive education, such as Thurgood Marshall, often studied in informal and

Analysis Of The Play Latins Of La De Land By Migdalia...
Judith Butler argues in Performative Acts and Gender Constitution that gender is created by the act of
performance and is constructed through the body. She states gender identity is a performative
accomplishment compelled by social sanction and taboo (Butler 416).The concept of the display of
gender through the act of performance is perpetuated within the play Latins in La La Land by
Migdalia Cruz specifically through the characters Sid/Rita and Lorenzo. Both of these characters put
on gender and take it off throughout the play, through persona and through representative dress.
Gender is a historical space and construction which argues that bodies become gendered through a
legacy of sedimented acts (Butler 523). The legacy of sedimented acts consists of the habitual
performative acts of a person and the build up of gender norms that produce the outcome of a natural
sex. Through this legacy of sedimented acts, gender is reworked within Latins of La La Land through
subversive performing acts by the characters Sid/Rita and Lorenzo.
Performance exists first, then gender. Gender does not occur from an internal essence. We as a society,
are unable to acknowledge that we re performing our gender, we believe it s inherent. Performance is
learned by what is already historically dictated as gender and is acted out by the individual through
performance of the body. The act of doing one s body comes from history that is shared and developed
over time. Butler argues that gender is

One of the important things that I learned from Demo and Fine chapter 4 and 5 is about the societal
views of marriage and divorce. By reading chapter 4, it has been clear to me that marriage still
reserved as the highest desired institution. However, I also shocked with the fact that marriage rates
are higher for more educated men and women compared to prior generations that are lower for more
educated individuals. About divorce, it is good to hear that the negative stigma associated with divorce
is reduced over time even though it does not seem that it has become positive in the recent years.
Besides, I also learned that even though marriage is popular, the social norms governing marriage
have become weaker. This happens may be because there is a change from institutional to
companionate marriage and also there is a larger emphasis on marriage meeting individualistic and
self fulfilling need. People hold many expectations on marriage. People expect marriage can help ...

Why Should College Athletes Get Paid
Year after year fans enjoy nail biting moments produced by the NCAA basketball tournament and
football season. Many would argue that the NCAA provides a product that matches up with the
professionals both competitively and financially. The only difference is that professionals get paid for
the revenue that they bring in while NCAA athletes do not. It is time for change, college athletes
should be monetarily compensated because they are the ones who have made the NCAA profitable for
many years. The idea of college athletes getting paid has been at the center of the sports world because
there are a variety of opinions surrounding this topic. Raymond G. Schneider pointed out that some

Those alone can make enough money to pay college athletes. For instance college football is a money
maker when December arrives, teams are guaranteed to see an increase in numbers because that is
when championships are settled. There are at least twenty bowl games during that month ending with
the national title game which is seen by millions around the world. The title game alone can generate
an enormous amount of revenue because of all the advertising that the NCAA does prior to the game.
When it comes to college basketball, it is basically the same thing. This sport alone generates large
amounts of money because it is a popular sport in the United States. The real money is made in the
month of March when the most anticipated college basketball tournament is played. Multiple
businesses work with the NCAA to have their commercials shown during nationally televised games,
the deals are made between them for large amounts of cash. According to an article from the NPR
website Our athletic program at the University of Miami is subsidized by the university millions of
dollars, in fact and I would argue that most of the programs in this country are in the same situation
she says ( Staff ). When all of these factors are put together it is very possible to pay college athletes
since it is proven that the NCAA and universities make millions of dollars with ease.

MANAGING AND HANDLING INDISCIPLINE IN SCHOOLS

ABSTRACT
The research project we present here in (entitled GERLINDES, in Portuguese) is set out with the
assumption that there is a link among the representations and the actions within the members of the
interstitial groups of schools, the practices in action and social and disciplinary environment at
schools. This research project is focused on eight case studies held in schools of different grades,
located in the centre of Portugal. Both qualitative (interviews and ethnographic observation) and
quantitative methodologies (pupils questionnaires) have been used.

Schools are complex, formal organisations that, as such, include behaviours of diverse actors,
organised and interconnected by a structure of authority and a network of relationships that allow
partial and unfinished information, resources and products pass from one group to another (Bates and
Murray, 1981, 58). According to these authors, school is structurally grouped in two kinds the
elementary groups and the interstitial groups . The former constitutes basic structural elements or
social units (for example, the class, the group of teachers of a certain subject or field of knowledge,
the administrative sector, etc.), while the latter, formed by the representatives of the elementary
groups, are connexion groups which origin a network of links in the system s structure (for example,
the pedagogical council, the school and/or school group assembly, the class councils, the board of the
parents association). It is inside these interstitial groups that the contact between the members of the
isolated elementary groups is established. Research has not given much attention to the role of the
interstitial groups, although the organisation of schools in the Portuguese educational system assigns
them a strong leading role. The organisation of these groups, established in Portuguese schools, holds
a potential of collective work to promoting a favourable school environment to students learning

1. How does Sassoon show the depression of the young soldier?
The depression of the young soldier before he commits suicide is clearly displayed in the poem.
At the start of the poem, the image of a happy, young, and perhaps rather naïve boy is placed before
us;
Simple tells us that he is innocent, perhaps rather naïve, and doesn t understand the concept of war.
Grinned at life in empty joy suggests to us that he was pleased by anything, a happy carefree young
man. He was young and had no worries because he enjoyed life and did as he pleased. He made life
seem easy and happy even when times were bad. It also given us a notion of how immature the boy
turned into a soldier and sent to war must have been.

The structure of the poem also adds to the stark change the boy has suffered throughout the war.
Sassoon uses the same structure that a children s rhyme usually has, and this is perhaps intended to
emphasize that this boy, turned into a soldier and driven to suicide, was still just a boy.
The depression of the young soldier is also shown to be shared by many; the eye catching title Suicide
in the Trenches is evidence of this fact. The word trenches further emphasizes that the depression the
young soldier feels is felt throughout all the trenches, and therefore many others in war.
The juxtaposition between the first two stanzas adds to the effect intended upon the reader by
Siegfried Sassoon. He wants us to feel the harsh reality of war; cold, unjust, harsh and depressing, and
the image of a happy young man driven to suicide by war certainly emphasizes this point. This jarring
contrast makes the boy s death a lot sadder and brings out sympathy in the reader.
2. What is Sassoon s view of the crowds which greet the soldiers on their return from the trenches?
The last stanza is very effective in displaying Sassoon s view of the crowds. Throughout this stanza a
bitter, sarcastic, sneering and rather angry tone is used;
You smug faced crowds The use of you makes the reader feel as if Sassoon is addressing the reader,
naming us all guilty of the smug faced cheering and clapping of the

Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously Summary
Julie Powell, the author of her own memoir, was a distraught secretary working at a bureaucratic
organization led primarily by Republicans in order to build a memorial to the terrorist attack on
September 11th, 2001. To further this misery, she was told that she may be unable to have children in
the future. After hearing this news, she and her husband Eric went to her mother s house in Texas
where Powell found an old copy of Julia Child s Mastering the Art of French Cooking which reminded
her of childhood memories of sneaking looks at and moments with books about sex and cooking she
knew she should not read. She was inspired by these memories to cook every recipe in Julia Child s
historic and expansive cookbook, in one year.
The challenge started well with Powell quickly cooking the first few of the 524 recipes in just one
weekend. Powell began to have a new purpose at work instead of being forced to listen to ludicrous
ideas for a national monument, including a football field built on ground zero, and was more and more
excited to go home and continue her self assigned project.

the online connections people use today to stay in contact with friends, coworkers, and family.
Communicating in today s society has become a lot easier with social networking sites allowing us to
communicate with people with a simple click of the mouse. In this paper, I will address the strengths
and limitations of social networking. I will look at the ways that social network can impact the social
world of people and communities, especially those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As of this morning, 500 million people all around the world are actively using Facebook to stay
connected with their friends and the people around them (Zuckerberg, 2010).
Strength of social networking sites
Social network sites (SNSs) such as such as Friendster, CyWorld, and MySpace allow individuals to
present themselves, articulate their social networks, and establish or maintain connections with others
(Ellison, 2007). These sites could be used for work related situation, romance, connecting with
individuals with shared interest, or creating a connection amongst college students. Facebook enables
its users to present themselves in an online profile, accumulate friends who can post comments on
each other s pages, and view each other s profiles (Ellison, 2007). Individuals can write on the wall of
friends, send private message, comment on posts, as well as chat via instant messaging. Much of the
early research on online communities assumed that individuals using these systems would be
connecting with others outside their pre existing social group or location, liberating them to form
communities around shared interests, as opposed to shared geography (Ellison, 2007). Psychosocial
implications of social networking
The use of SNSs (social network sites) can have both positive and negative effects on the individual;
however, few studies identify the types of people who frequent these Internet sites

Physical Therapy Reflection Paper
It was the summer of 2015, it was one the biggest transformation years in high school athletics going
from my freshman year to my sophomore year. There was a different plan for my summer other than
sports. I had my knee in a brace the whole summer while having crutches underneath my armpits for
most of the summer. This brace was large, it went from my ankle to my upper thigh with 4 straps and
metal rods on the side of my legs. I was putting all my trust into the brace to keep my knee stable and
not hurt it more. It was my first day of Physical Therapy I was at Summit Orthopedics in Vadnais
Heights, and I smelt the same things as I did the time I came the first time to OrthoQuick. It was the
smell of hand sanitizer and elder people. What I saw was the elder people waiting for their name to be
called to go back with their physical therapist. My physical therapist name was Derek. He brought me
back to a room that was no bigger than an average observation room. We started physical therapy by
engaging my quad and then releasing it. The part that I was surprised by the most is the electrical
stimulation. They put patch on each side of my quad and connect wires to the patches, and it felt like
my quad was vibrating and tingling on a beat. The time I was there before my surgery was one of the
hardest day to comprehend in my life it was the day that we went over the MRI. It showed that there
was fluid behind the cartilage in my femur Dr. Sekenzel then told me that I was going to

Theory Of Planned Behavior Paper
The key predisposing factor that influences homeless veteran s poor choice of diet is their perceived
lack of control. For this reason, the constructs of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) can be used
to help understand and determine the beliefs that stimulate this behavior. Previous studies have shown
that homeless veterans exhibit constant worry over perceived lack of control in regards to diet choice
(Rojas Guyler et al., 2014), and perceived control is a major construct of the TPB. The TPB asserts
that intention and perceptions of capability will govern the likelihood that individuals will execute a
particular behavior (McDermott et al., 2015). Consequently, homeless veterans will display a strong
intention to eat the recommended daily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, an effective intervention targeting the identified constructs (perceived control, self efficacy,
and social support) should be created to change homeless veterans eating behaviors. One possible
intervention would be ten week educational workshops that include diabetes screening protocols, job
opportunities, cooking sessions, and resume and a cover letter session. At the end of the intervention,
environmental changes such as temporary homes for homeless veterans would be provided. Before the
intervention can be carried out, the intervention program would be promoted using various forms of
advertisements. For instance, the program would be advertised through flyers, brochures, bridge signs,
and posters throughout the community (e.g., grocery stores, bars, VA facilities, homeless shelters, and
clinics). In terms of where the program would take place, a large workshop space such as the YMCA
or VA facilities would be rented. Space would include offices, cooking areas (include cooking
materials), and classrooms equipped with computers, paper, writing utensils, printers, fax machine,
telephone, etc. Members of the community, as well as veterans, would be employed as staff. The staff
would also include a nutritionist/dietitian, a nurse practitioner, a yoga instructor, and a motivational
speaker who would end each workshop session. Also,

Virtual Meeting Platform Plays A Crucial Role
As technology is advancing, more tools have emerged in the workplaces to increase the productivity
and efficiency of the corporate. Large corporate nowadays has unemployed larger ratio of human
capital to decrease cost and most importantly, increase the efficiency because of automation of
technology. Arguments on regard to this has been going on and off constantly and people all have a
common question in mind, if the efficiency really means what it supposed to be? Of all the
technologies we are utilized currently, virtual meeting platform plays a crucial role. The use of virtual
meeting platform has significantly shorten the time employees spend on client s site, decreased travel
expense and enable the employee to discuss with client at the convenience of their home or office.
However, bottom lines are not proving to increase significantly as expected due to lack of personal
contact (trust) value, learning value and group synergy gain value.
Review/Analysis of the Case According to Eilif Trondsen, He mentioned The trend toward a virtual
workplace is driven by growing numbers of workers spending too much time in the field, interacting
with customers, business partners, and collaborators and spending less time in traditional office . Due
to the costly time and expense on traveling to customer s site, most corporates are not hesitated to
switching to virtual meeting. Employer now can hire less people since they can do the web training
and conference online while saving time

Seventh Grade Probability Carnival
The seventh grade probability carnival was one of the highlights of my fall term. Throughout the
preparation, execution and reflection phases of the carnival, I truly enjoyed myself and felt as though I
learned a lot about both experimental the theoretical probability.
In total, 42 second grade students and teachers played my game during the probability carnival. Out of
those 42, five won two tickets, four won three tickets, six won four tickets, four won five tickets, five
won six tickets, three won seven tickets, four won eight tickets, and five won the jackpot amount,
which was nine tickets, as displayed in the table below:
Since my game cost only one ticket to play, and the lowest possible amount of tickets that you could
win was two, the probability of gaining tickets in my game was 100%, or 1/1. Since the numbers of
winners in each category of my game was not very spread out, neither were the experimental
probabilities. In total, the experimental probabilities of winning two, three, five and nine tickets were
all 5/42. The experimental probabilities of winning eight and five tickets were both 2/21, and the
experimental probabilities of winning seven and four tickets were 1/14 and 1/7. All in all, I had a very
good time at the probability carnival. I think that the second graders were very interested in my game
and had a great time playing it. I was especially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only was this a fun, interactive way to connect with younger students, but it also taught me a lot
about probability, one of the most useful types of math. Throughout each step in the complicated
process of designing and running my carnival game, I was able to learn and grow as both a math
student and an artist. I think that the probability carnival has been one of the most memorable and
enjoyable projects that I have done while at Park, and I can t wait to see what this year s sixth graders

Five Variants Of Christianity
The traditional beliefs that are traditionally associated with Christianity are the founded from their
sacred text, the bible. Which is believed to be divinely inspired and authoritative. This is going to
focus on the major five variants of Christianity. The five major variants are: Orthodox, Roman
Catholic, Anglican, Protestant and last but not the least by far, Pentecostal.
The principle beliefs can be broken down into 5 points which are: The Divinity and Humanity of Jesus
Christ, the Death and Resurrection of Christ, Nature of God and the Trinity, Revelation and Salvation.
The Divinity and Humanity of Jesus Christ refers to the statement that Jesus was fully human and
fully God. This statement can vary largely for the major variants. Orthodox ... Show more content on

However, some of the more liberal churches take a different approach and discard different pieces of
the Bible which they do not think are inspired by God, they think that the Bible is flawed with human
imperfection.
Salvation is believed by all the major variants of Christianity. Pentecostals believe in an afterlife and
that you can only enter through belief in Jesus. They believe that there is heaven and hell and people
will be divided up in the end times.
Protestants and Catholics have a similar belief about salvation. They both believe that they are saved
by God s grace alone. However, the difference between Protestants and Catholics is how they respond
to God s grace.
The protestant belief is that they are saved by faith alone. Some Protestants even say that there is
nothing one can do to earn a spot in heaven. All you have to do is accept Jesus Christ into your soul as
your personal lord and saviour and you are saved. Works are not mentioned in this, some
denominations say, once saved always

World War I During The World Of Russia
1) The Chechens have been a thorn in the side of Russia for centuries, with constant upsurges of
independence and oppression. Never the less, Chechnya was a useful thorn, located on the north slope
of the Caucasus Mountains within 100 kilometres of the Caspian Sea, Chechnya is strategically vital
to Russia for two reasons. First, access routes to both the Black Sea and Caspian Sea go through
Chechnya, as well as oil and vital gas pipelines connecting Russia with Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
The Chechens were the most active opponents of Russia s conquest (1818 1917) of the Caucasus.
They fought bitterly during an unsuccessful 1850s rebellion led by Imam Shamyl. The Chechens are a

Those Chechens left behind due to being immovables children, elderley, disabled were gathered into a
stables and set alight, if they escaped they were met with machine fire. This gruesome act of genocide
was repeated at 12 locations. An eye witness Dziyaudin Malsagov described how the horrified
desperate screams of women and children reverberated through out the building . The few survivers
were only allowed to return in 1957 after Stalin s death.
Upon return, ethnic Russians had taken over their land and homes with many Chechens having to buy
their own homes back. Clashes and hatred between Chechens and Russians living within Chechen
territories persisted to present times. A local, Ramazan Abdulatiov, supporting this attitude, said that, a
shot was fired in the Caucasus, but the echo lasts for 100 years.
After the soviet collapse of 1991, neighbouring Georgia s recent successful secession attempt inspired
a Chechen separatist movement. General Dzhokhar Dudayev led Chechnya s drive for independence,
however the president of the newly formed Russian federation, Boris Yeltsin, refused Chechnya s
declaration of Independence, sending in 40 000 troops instead, only to withdraw when confronted by
armed Chechens. Yeltsin was not expecting to be confronted with such a force, after being told by his
ministers, it will be an easy

Reflection Paper In Leadership
Introduction .5 page
I was drawn to this program and this course due to the fact that I desire to grow in my leadership style
and ability. Having completed a number of degrees in Biblical studies and Christian literature I
thought it was time to pursue a degree in leadership. Being a minister and involved with minister for
seventeen years I have been involved in leadership and even though I have had a good amount of
leadership training I always desire to learn, grow, and improve. I always say that as a minister I should
be learning and growing so that I might better impact this world for Christ. I want to know Jesus more
intimately, I want to know the word of God better, and I want to be able to communicate the gospel of
Christ in a richer more powerful way.
Even though I desire to learn and grow I have to admit that prior to taking this class, I did not think
that I would be challenged with a lot of new information. My assumption was that I would merely be
reminded of things I already knew and might at times be given a different perspective. I am not really
sure why I thought this way, but I did. After taking this class, I have been pleasantly surprised. Not
only have I been reminded of truths I already knew and have been given a different perspective on
things I have also learned new ways of thinking about ministry and life in general as well as being
confronted with new information that I have never been challenged with before. For example, one of
the things I have

The Early Disagreements Within Christianity
I believe this is one of the reasons Christianity thrived because people needed some shrivel of hope. 7.
Outline some of the early disagreements within Christianity. See (Christianity for the First 3,000
Years) for details. Consider the nature of Jesus, the Gnostic gospels, the Council of Nicaea etc. The
resurrection of Jesus himself is a concept that is hard to believe. How can a man come back to life,
and why is this the first time this has happened? Jesus was not written about till after his death. The
gospels were told by Jesus apostles and their recollection of Jesus and his teachings. The Council of
Nicaea were Christian theologians who decided which stories about Jesus to include in the Bible. The
Council of Nicaea left out the Gnostic gospels hidden knowledge which talked about Jesus s early
childhood. Why should we believe the council when they left out the parts of Jesus life they did not
agree with. Even those whose hearts were inclined to accept the new faith required some intellectual
satisfaction before they were willing to commit: How can God be three separate beings God, Jesus,
and the Holy Spirit and one indivisible being at the same time? If Jesus is coeternal with God, why is
there no mention of him in the two thousand year tradition of Hebrew writings? If Jesus is the divine
Son of God, how could he experience such human emotions as temptation, fear, and loneliness? 1 (pg.

A Research Study On Contemporary Organizations
Student s Name: Tutor s Name: Course: Date Introduction Contemporary organizations operate in a
very dynamic global environment and as such have learnt to value diversity in the workplace in order
to sustain a competitive edge. However, embracing diversity alone is not enough to lead to sustainable
success. What are needed are the organizations that want to be on top of the game to ensure an
inclusive workplace environment so that the fruits of diversity can be enjoyed. Diversity refers to
representation of multiple identity groups and their cultures in particular organization or workgroup
while inclusion is creating, fostering and sustaining practices and conditions that encourage and allow
each of us to be fully ourselves with our differences from and similarities to those around us as we
work together (Ferdman, 2013, p. xxii).Ferdman asserts that the goal of inclusion is the psychological
sense that we matter and that our voice and contributions are important. This inclusion begins with
everyone recognizing the fact that we are made up of many components, characteristics and identities
which are intertwined and make us whole. Just like an organism whose parts function differently but
make up the whole thing and if one part is missing the organism cannot function properly, so are
individuals in the workplace. They all come from different ethnic and cultural background, race,
religion, sexual orientation, gender, national origin, and marital status,

The Problem Of Real Estate
Those who have never bought, sold or otherwise transferred title to a property in Australia will need to
learn a thing or two about the subject of conveyancing. Generally speaking, this is the legal transfer of
title to property from one person to another. There are some kits on the market that enable buyers to
complete the process involved in transferring ownership of property, but this is not generally
recommended as differences in state laws, and the complexity of the process itself, can cause potential
problems. Real Estate is typically the most valuable asset that any of us will ever own, and its legal
title transfer must be handled carefully to ensure the protection of all parties and full compliance with
the law. It is, therefore, important to know what conveyancing is and what is involved in the process,
as well as what a conveyancer does in this process and how both buyers and sellers can benefit from
their services. When seeking any professional for their services, it is critical to find someone who is
qualified. This is especially important for a transaction as major as those involving real estate. You ll
want to have a good idea of how much it costs to employ their services and whether one should use a
conveyancer or a solicitor when engaging in various property transfers. This subject may seem new
and daunting to someone who has not gone through it, but the right professional can navigate you
through it to a settlement that is amicable for both parties.

  • 2. Indentured Servants and Slaves in the U.S. Essay A plantation economy, an economy founded on an agricultural mass production like tobacco, sustained the source of income of the Chesapeake regions, consisting Virginia, Maryland, and northern North Carolina. The early settlers soon realized the urgent need for labor in the New World. Due to the fact that many potential immigrants could not afford an expensive trip across the Atlantic, the Virginia Company developed the system of indentured servitude to attract common laborers. Since tobacco required intensive hand labor all year round, indentured servants have become vital to the colonial economy. Virginia Servant and Slave Laws represent the elaborate efforts of masters to profit from indentured servants and slaves against runaway and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3). Also, slave woman is considered more valuable due to the child. The law enacted in Virginia shows masters goal to profit from the children of slaves, In 1662, Virginia lawmakers specified that the children of slave mothers inherited their mothers slave status ( Virginia Servants and Slave Laws, in Handout Set, p. 2). Under theses harsh circumstances, servants and slaves, regardless of gender and ethnicity, tend to work together and that became a great fear of the ruling class. Virginia Laws Governing Servant and Slave reveals the rebellions of servants and slaves who united to fight against their masters. Bacon s Rebellion, in 1676, occurred in the Virginia Colony in opposition to Virginia s Indian policy (Roark, The American Promise, p. 79). Bacon s Rebellion demonstrated that poor whites and poor blacks could be united in a cause, and it shows that they are capable of challenging the ruling class together. Virginia lawmakers enacted the laws to prevent the servants and slaves from uniting to fight against masters. According to Document 2: Law Making Slave Status Inherited from Mother, 1662 the Virginia legislators punished interracial sexual relations, And that if any Christian shall commit fornication with a negro man or woman, hee or shee soe offending shall pay double the ffines imposed by the former act ... • 3. On What Occasions Does Norse Mythology Play an Important... Introduction On what occasions does Norse Mythology play an important role in Beowulf? Throughout the story of Beowulf, Norse Mythology has been an important factor of the story s continuation. While they both have interactions with Christianity, they are both very important. Norse Mythology has existed as early as the 10th century. Just like how Beowulf, and many other epics have been told, Norse mythology was preserved through the tradition of oral preservation. Norse Mythology It is said that there are twelve major Norse gods. This is of similar to the twelve chief Roman gods and goddesses. Odin was the chief god and only had one eye, while the god of war, Tyr, only had one arm. This meant that in Northern Europe, this mythology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During a time of crisis, King Hrothgar also called and prayed for help from the Norse gods. Many mythological creatures from Norse Mythology appear in Beowulf. Grendel was an ogre that attacked the Mead hall. The dragon was a flying mystical beast that breathed fire. Many Norse traditions was also practiced in Beowulf. Many included the death ceremonies, as well as songs. Relationship to Christianity In Beowulf, the dragon is often referred to as the worm The worm is a biblical allusion to the serpent in the Book of Genesis and represents evil. Grendel was also a descendent of Cain, the first murderer in the Bible. Beowulf is seen as a sacrificial scapegoat and is often compared to Jesus. They both have sacrificed their lives to save many people. Throughout the story, Beowulf repeatedly refers acknowledges God as his protector. During the battle with Grendel s Mother, Beowulf see s the Giant s sword. He does not take credit for this and states that God have protected him. One very important relationship to Christianity is the biblical allusion of Good Vs Evil. This theme has been repeated over and over in the book. Beowulf is good, and Hrothgar can even represent god. However, evil attacks good and they have to stop it. The Mead Hall that Hrothgar have built is similar to that of Adam and Eve s paradise. Conclusion Norse mythology plays a very important role in Beowulf. In Beowulf, there are many references that help the story s progression as well as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Public Domain Research Paper The topic of public domain is becoming increasingly important in the modern day. Legislation once enacted to protect the intellectual property of the individual seems to have been flipped on its head to do the exact opposite. Copyright was originally created to inspire original works by individual authors, inventors and scientists for a relatively finite amount of time. In the modern era, we see big corporate interests pushing for the extension of these deadlines while buying and hoarding copyrights, using lawyers as guard dogs. Doing so infringes on the consumer s right to choose. Such actions prevents fair competition in terms of price, quality, and service for an obscene amount of time. They believe that if they came up with the idea then they should be the one benefiting from any money it brings in. They would prefer to have longer term limits until something goes into the public domain. The public believes that after a certain number of years the product should become available to the public. The public also does not agree with Congress increasing the term limits, it is making things not available to the public until a long time. Some corporations, like Disney, spend large amounts of money lobbying for Congress to increase the time until something is available to the public. They do this because they make a large amount of money off of Mickey Mouse and they want to continue to make a large amount of money from their creation. Not only do Disney and other anti public domain businesses spend a lot of money introducing and passing bills to extend their copyrights, but they also have a large influence on the government due to their position as business leaders. If the congress were to veto their legislation, these powerful companies may decide not to contribute to certain government ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I walked along the endless panels and the thousands of names, I realized the impact that this war had on our country and that these names are actual people. They are brothers, fathers, sons, uncles, friends. These individuals left their family, their wives, their children. Some gave their lives, and some gave their sanity, but they all suffered for something much bigger. Many Americans fought in the Vietnam War some against their will, many as young as 18 years of age. They risked their lives fighting for us, for our country and for a difference. Some soldiers returned home, and sadly, some did not. Many of whom arrived in April, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is done by decoupling the system that makes decisions about where traffic is sent (the control plane) from the underlying systems that forward traffic to the selected destination (the data plane). The Cisco ACI solution meets all the requirements of this definition, but to satisfy the requirements of SDN, it must also be able to accommodate the emerging trends in computing, including: Changing traffic patterns: As explained previously, east west traffic in the data center is increasing, and next generation data center ... • 7. Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, And Marlowe s The Tragical... There are several differences in themes, writing styles, and conclusions found within historical British plays, in particularly the plays of Everyman, The Second Shepherds Play, Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, and Marlowe s The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus. These plays reflect many of their times heated topics and concerns. While the endings to each of these plays significantly contrast, the themes within each play fully prepare audiences for the ending to which will be further explained. Of these plays, Everyman and Doctor Faustus are perhaps the most similar, yet the most contrasting. While both appear to explore the subject of death, the act in which they come to their conclusions differ greatly. For instance, Everyman tries repeatedly to convince company to join him on his journey to death, while Faustus always has company attempting to persuade him away from his evil deal with Lucifer or vice versa. As they approach the ending, the stories become opposite as they were in the beginning. Everyman eventually finds his company, while Faustus must face the consequences of his deal with Lucifer all alone. The ending of Everyman leaves the audience with a peaceful feeling, knowing that they too can be accompanied at death by doing good deeds. However, The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus leaves the audience with a tragic, morbid ending as they watch him join Lucifer, alone and in despair, regretful of his deal. Birth Order and the Effect on Your Personality Birth order and the effect it has on your personality Some parents often wonder, what, if any, effect birth order will have on their children s personalities. Genetic factors and other influences play a significannot role, but the birth order within the family plays a larger role in determining the personality of children. Countless academic studies say your place in the family is such a strong factor in developing your personality that it can have a major influence on the rest of your life. Alfred Adler, an Austrian psychiatrist and former disciple of Freud, acknowledge environmental influences such as social class, geographic origin and relationship with parents as factors in the development of personality. But it was birth order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can cause a lot of stress on the child. Some of the solutions that Wallace suggested was to be alert to the child s reaction when a new baby is brought home. Address the feelings that the child has about the birth of the new sibling right then to prevent hostility, anger and resentment later on. Parents should treat the kids equally, neither will feel resentment for the other nor be able to claim that one is getting special treatment (Payton). Middle children are often left feeling like the odd one out, not having the attachment to their parents that their older sibling has but also not being the baby of the family, who gets the attention heaped on them. This often provokes attention seeking behavior and can lead to depression or even paranoia in later life (Udall). Many middle children feel overshadowed by their older and younger siblings. Their efforts to compensate often affect their personality development ( Parenting Children ). With parents less available to them than to first born, middle children seem to be more laid back in achievement and more relaxed. Sometimes they need to be manipulative to satisfy their needs and are good diplomats and quite friendly ( Birth order and your child ). The middle child tends to be a mediator and negotiator (Payton). The intensity of their struggle for identity as a middle child will depend on the sex of the child. If ... The Plo As The Palestinian Sovereign The Legitimacy of the PLO as the Palestinian Sovereign Full Name Name of University Recitation Section TA Name Palestine has a right, under international and natural law, to self determination under the borders which existed prior to Israel s formation in 1948. The natural governing authority of the new Palestinian State to be formed within these borders is the Palestinian Authority (PLO) currently led by Mahmoud Abbas. Given that land was stolen from Palestinian natural sovereignty via actions taken by Israel in wars which Palestine proper was not a participant to, Israel must also pay reparations to the Palestinian State as well as its citizens so as to compensate for the crimes against humanity which it has committed over the course of the last several decades. Cemented by the renunciation of violence which the PLO has undertaken, Palestinians can no longer be held accountable for the actions of Hamas and other terrorist groups, and an independent Palestinian state commits to joining the War on Terror righteously fought by Israel and its allies. • 11. Three Values of Greek Society in the Odyssey Essay The world is full of wonders, but nothing is more wonderful than man. This quote shows that the Greeks valued themselves, but also their intellect in which they know that the world about them is great. The Greeks valued beauty, art, intellect, honor, and truth; the list is long. Some of these values are shown through the story of the Odyssey, which tells of the adventures of Odysseus and his family. In order to understand Greek values and how they are portrayed in Greek society, one must examine how some values are portrayed in the Odyssey: hospitality, intellect, and beauty. In Greek society, hospitality is really important. The Greeks strongly believed in their gods, and they always wanted to be prepared if one came knocking at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of a lack of hospitality was when Odysseus and his men came upon the Kyklopes , and the one eyed monsters treated them terribly. On first sight they tried to kill Odysseus and all his men. The Greeks also valued intelligence and intellect. Although there were certain areas in Greece that valued it more than others, such as Athens, the Greeks were generally an intelligent race of people. An example from the Odyssey is when Penelope (Odysseus wife, Telemakhos mother) tells her suitors that she needs to finish weaving a shroud for an old man before she marries. She proceeds to weave on her loom every day, but unravels it during the night, so that she will never have to marry. Another example is when Odysseus finally arrives home, and he disguises himself so he can question people about his home and the situation, all without being noticed. In this way he gained information without revealing himself. Another important Greek value is beauty. The Greeks strived for the idealistic form in everything they did: art, literature, beauty, and even in the sciences. The Odyssey portrays Penelope to be an older woman, but a beautiful older woman, having a hall full of suitors wanting to marry her. Another example is when Athena changes Odysseus appearance in certain situations, usually making Odysseus look young and less hardened by all his traveling. The small percentage who did receive education, such as Thurgood Marshall, often studied in informal and sometimes aggressive settings. Some were forced to educate themselves completely. Some schools for elementary and secondary training existed, such as the Institute for Colored Youth, a school started in the early 1830 s by a group of Philadelphia Quakers. A college education was also offered to a limited number of scholars at schools like Oberlin College in Ohio and Berea College in Kentucky. Many of them but not all were reported irregularities in the Freedmen s bureau that temporarily oversaw Howard in the early beginnings. The culture and nightlife of DC s famous areas such as U Street, fascinated many well known entertainers and scholars. • 13. Analysis Of The Play Latins Of La De Land By Migdalia... Judith Butler argues in Performative Acts and Gender Constitution that gender is created by the act of performance and is constructed through the body. She states gender identity is a performative accomplishment compelled by social sanction and taboo (Butler 416).The concept of the display of gender through the act of performance is perpetuated within the play Latins in La La Land by Migdalia Cruz specifically through the characters Sid/Rita and Lorenzo. Both of these characters put on gender and take it off throughout the play, through persona and through representative dress. Gender is a historical space and construction which argues that bodies become gendered through a legacy of sedimented acts (Butler 523). The legacy of sedimented acts consists of the habitual performative acts of a person and the build up of gender norms that produce the outcome of a natural sex. Through this legacy of sedimented acts, gender is reworked within Latins of La La Land through subversive performing acts by the characters Sid/Rita and Lorenzo. Performance exists first, then gender. Gender does not occur from an internal essence. We as a society, are unable to acknowledge that we re performing our gender, we believe it s inherent. Performance is learned by what is already historically dictated as gender and is acted out by the individual through performance of the body. The act of doing one s body comes from history that is shared and developed over time. Butler argues that gender is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Psy 230 Week 2 One of the important things that I learned from Demo and Fine chapter 4 and 5 is about the societal views of marriage and divorce. By reading chapter 4, it has been clear to me that marriage still reserved as the highest desired institution. However, I also shocked with the fact that marriage rates are higher for more educated men and women compared to prior generations that are lower for more educated individuals. About divorce, it is good to hear that the negative stigma associated with divorce is reduced over time even though it does not seem that it has become positive in the recent years. Besides, I also learned that even though marriage is popular, the social norms governing marriage have become weaker. This happens may be because there is a change from institutional to companionate marriage and also there is a larger emphasis on marriage meeting individualistic and self fulfilling need. People hold many expectations on marriage. People expect marriage can help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 15. Why Should College Athletes Get Paid Year after year fans enjoy nail biting moments produced by the NCAA basketball tournament and football season. Many would argue that the NCAA provides a product that matches up with the professionals both competitively and financially. The only difference is that professionals get paid for the revenue that they bring in while NCAA athletes do not. It is time for change, college athletes should be monetarily compensated because they are the ones who have made the NCAA profitable for many years. The idea of college athletes getting paid has been at the center of the sports world because there are a variety of opinions surrounding this topic. Raymond G. For instance college football is a money maker when December arrives, teams are guaranteed to see an increase in numbers because that is when championships are settled. There are at least twenty bowl games during that month ending with the national title game which is seen by millions around the world. The title game alone can generate an enormous amount of revenue because of all the advertising that the NCAA does prior to the game. When it comes to college basketball, it is basically the same thing. This sport alone generates large amounts of money because it is a popular sport in the United States. The real money is made in the month of March when the most anticipated college basketball tournament is played. Multiple businesses work with the NCAA to have their commercials shown during nationally televised games, the deals are made between them for large amounts of cash. MANAGING AND HANDLING INDISCIPLINE IN SCHOOLS A RESEARCH PROJECT ISABEL FREIRE, UNIVERSIDADE DE LISBOA JOÃO AMADO, UNIVERSIDADE DE COIMBRA ABSTRACT The research project we present here in (entitled GERLINDES, in Portuguese) is set out with the assumption that there is a link among the representations and the actions within the members of the interstitial groups of schools, the practices in action and social and disciplinary environment at schools. This research project is focused on eight case studies held in schools of different grades, located in the centre of Portugal. Both qualitative (interviews and ethnographic observation) and quantitative methodologies (pupils questionnaires) have been used. KEYWORDS Indiscipline ; School ethos ... Schools are complex, formal organisations that, as such, include behaviours of diverse actors, organised and interconnected by a structure of authority and a network of relationships that allow partial and unfinished information, resources and products pass from one group to another (Bates and Murray, 1981, 58). According to these authors, school is structurally grouped in two kinds the elementary groups and the interstitial groups . The former constitutes basic structural elements or social units (for example, the class, the group of teachers of a certain subject or field of knowledge, the administrative sector, etc.), while the latter, formed by the representatives of the elementary groups, are connexion groups which origin a network of links in the system s structure (for example, the pedagogical council, the school and/or school group assembly, the class councils, the board of the parents association). It is inside these interstitial groups that the contact between the members of the isolated elementary groups is established. Research has not given much attention to the role of the interstitial groups, although the organisation of schools in the Portuguese educational system assigns them a strong leading role. The organisation of these groups, established in Portuguese schools, holds a potential of collective work to promoting a favourable school environment to students learning ... • 17. Essay change 1. How does Sassoon show the depression of the young soldier? The depression of the young soldier before he commits suicide is clearly displayed in the poem. At the start of the poem, the image of a happy, young, and perhaps rather naïve boy is placed before us; Simple tells us that he is innocent, perhaps rather naïve, and doesn t understand the concept of war. Grinned at life in empty joy suggests to us that he was pleased by anything, a happy carefree young man. He was young and had no worries because he enjoyed life and did as he pleased. He made life seem easy and happy even when times were bad. It also given us a notion of how immature the boy turned into a soldier and sent to war must have been. Slept soundly through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The structure of the poem also adds to the stark change the boy has suffered throughout the war. Sassoon uses the same structure that a children s rhyme usually has, and this is perhaps intended to emphasize that this boy, turned into a soldier and driven to suicide, was still just a boy. The depression of the young soldier is also shown to be shared by many; the eye catching title Suicide in the Trenches is evidence of this fact. The word trenches further emphasizes that the depression the young soldier feels is felt throughout all the trenches, and therefore many others in war. The juxtaposition between the first two stanzas adds to the effect intended upon the reader by Siegfried Sassoon. He wants us to feel the harsh reality of war; cold, unjust, harsh and depressing, and the image of a happy young man driven to suicide by war certainly emphasizes this point. This jarring contrast makes the boy s death a lot sadder and brings out sympathy in the reader. 2. What is Sassoon s view of the crowds which greet the soldiers on their return from the trenches? The last stanza is very effective in displaying Sassoon s view of the crowds. Throughout this stanza a bitter, sarcastic, sneering and rather angry tone is used; You smug faced crowds The use of you makes the reader feel as if Sassoon is addressing the reader, naming us all guilty of the smug faced cheering and clapping of the ... Julie Rowell Summary Brendan O Keefe Mrs. Vermillion AP Language and Composition 29 March 2017 Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously Summary Julie Powell, the author of her own memoir, was a distraught secretary working at a bureaucratic organization led primarily by Republicans in order to build a memorial to the terrorist attack on September 11th, 2001. To further this misery, she was told that she may be unable to have children in the future. After hearing this news, she and her husband Eric went to her mother s house in Texas where Powell found an old copy of Julia Child s Mastering the Art of French Cooking which reminded her of childhood memories of sneaking looks at and moments with books about sex and cooking she knew she should not read. She was inspired by these memories to cook every recipe in Julia Child s historic and expansive cookbook, in one year. The challenge started well with Powell quickly cooking the first few of the 524 recipes in just one weekend. Powell began to have a new purpose at work instead of being forced to listen to ludicrous ideas for a national monument, including a football field built on ground zero, and was more and more excited to go home and continue her self assigned project. This brace was large, it went from my ankle to my upper thigh with 4 straps and metal rods on the side of my legs. I was putting all my trust into the brace to keep my knee stable and not hurt it more. It was my first day of Physical Therapy I was at Summit Orthopedics in Vadnais Heights, and I smelt the same things as I did the time I came the first time to OrthoQuick. It was the smell of hand sanitizer and elder people. What I saw was the elder people waiting for their name to be called to go back with their physical therapist. My physical therapist name was Derek. He brought me back to a room that was no bigger than an average observation room. We started physical therapy by engaging my quad and then releasing it. The part that I was surprised by the most is the electrical stimulation. They put patch on each side of my quad and connect wires to the patches, and it felt like my quad was vibrating and tingling on a beat. For this reason, the constructs of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) can be used to help understand and determine the beliefs that stimulate this behavior. Previous studies have shown that homeless veterans exhibit constant worry over perceived lack of control in regards to diet choice (Rojas Guyler et al., 2014), and perceived control is a major construct of the TPB. Consider the nature of Jesus, the Gnostic gospels, the Council of Nicaea etc. The resurrection of Jesus himself is a concept that is hard to believe. How can a man come back to life, and why is this the first time this has happened? Jesus was not written about till after his death. The gospels were told by Jesus apostles and their recollection of Jesus and his teachings. The Council of Nicaea were Christian theologians who decided which stories about Jesus to include in the Bible. The Council of Nicaea left out the Gnostic gospels hidden knowledge which talked about Jesus s early childhood. Why should we believe the council when they left out the parts of Jesus life they did not agree with. Even those whose hearts were inclined to accept the new faith required some intellectual satisfaction before they were willing to commit: How can God be three separate beings God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit and one indivisible being at the same time? However, embracing diversity alone is not enough to lead to sustainable success. What are needed are the organizations that want to be on top of the game to ensure an inclusive workplace environment so that the fruits of diversity can be enjoyed. Diversity refers to representation of multiple identity groups and their cultures in particular organization or workgroup while inclusion is creating, fostering and sustaining practices and conditions that encourage and allow each of us to be fully ourselves with our differences from and similarities to those around us as we work together (Ferdman, 2013, p. xxii).Ferdman asserts that the goal of inclusion is the psychological sense that we matter and that our voice and contributions are important. This inclusion begins with everyone recognizing the fact that we are made up of many components, characteristics and identities which are intertwined and make us whole. Generally speaking, this is the legal transfer of title to property from one person to another. There are some kits on the market that enable buyers to complete the process involved in transferring ownership of property, but this is not generally recommended as differences in state laws, and the complexity of the process itself, can cause potential problems. Real Estate is typically the most valuable asset that any of us will ever own, and its legal title transfer must be handled carefully to ensure the protection of all parties and full compliance with the law. It is, therefore, important to know what conveyancing is and what is involved in the process, as well as what a conveyancer does in this process and how both buyers and sellers can benefit from their services. When seeking any professional for their services, it is critical to find someone who is qualified. This is especially important for a transaction as major as those involving real estate.
