Ww1 Informal Letter
My beloved daughter Magdalene,
I was overjoyed to recieve your letter. I hope you maintain your good grade and take very good care of
your sister, Meredith. I miss your charming personality and smile that would bright up a room. I could
use one of your hugs right about now. The infirmary isnt exaclty the most cheerfull place. Usually i
would be filling sandbags right about now because we rotate responsibilities between the frontlines
and the fields. Our lives on the frontlines are horrendous. There are not enough words to describe how
terrible the frontline trenches truly are. There are thousands of mice , not like the ones you would see
behind the schoolhouse, these are huge and often carry nasty diseases and infections such as lice. There

We waited to receive the orders from the lieutenant, but in my head i was already saying my prayers.
He had told us to retrace our steps. I ran with everything I had in me, the proper duckboard made it
somewhat easier to run but didn t take away from the fact that i was running with about 50kg of
ammunition with me. We ran and arunned until we found the sap, while lieutenant provided shelter
fire. We got out of the enemy trenches and crawled through the enemy s barbed wire. In the process of
me going through the barbed wire, I cut my eye. Within seconds it was swollen shut and I thought I
was in a dream. Maybe all of this was just a nightmare. I was later told i was suffering from extreme
blood loss. Soon i felt something pull me i honestly thought i was being taken for german prisoner.
But i heard a familiar voice. It was the lieutenant telling me to wake up. With whatever strength i had
left and the help of the lieutenant,i staggered across no man s land And made it to our trenches were i
was rushed to the infirmary. Not to soon after we arrived to safety, well as close to safety as we could
have gotten the germans released fire on us. Although my eye is severely damaged, it couldve been
alot worse; I am grateful that i returned all in one piece. I miss you dearly and am waiting to see you.
If i do not make it hone in time for your birthday i shall wish your blessings upon you now. I

Relationship Analysis Between Statutes and Case Law
Relationship Analysis between Statutes and Case Law
Laws against discrimination in employment were developed to provide remedies for victims of this
unfortunate form of behavior that exists in America today. The following paper provides insight into
lawsuits based on discrimination in the areas of age, religion, and disability and the statutes that
provide complainants with the ability to seek relief from discriminatory practices.

Smith v. City of Jackson, Mississippi

In 1966 the EEOC issued regulations that provided that employers must afford accommodation unless
it would cause a serious inconvenience to the conduct of business. In 1967, this regulation was further
refined to read undue hardship on the conduct of the employer s business. These regulations were
quickly challenged as was the EEOC authority to issue such regulations. (Foltin Standish, 2004, p. 3).
Finally, in 1972 Congress amended Title VII adding a new section 701(j), which reads as follows:
The term religion includes all aspects of religious observance and practice, as well as belief, unless an
employer demonstrates that he is unable to reasonably accommodate to an employee s or perspective
employee s religious observance or practice without undue hardship on the conduct of the employer s
business.
This still left the defining of the terminology reasonably accommodate and undue hardship to the legal
system.
Case Law – Trans World Airlines, Inc. v. Hardison
Background
In this case, Larry G. Hardison was an employee with TWA working as a clerk in the Stores
Department at its Kansas City base. This was an essential role in the Kansas City operation as the
Stores Department must operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. This was also a union operation
and Hardison was subject to a seniority system. Hardison was hired by TWA in June 1967 and in the
spring of 1968 he began to study the religion known as the Worldwide Church of God.

Biodiversity And Its Impact On Biodiversity
Biodiversity is what makes the planet earth unique and different from every other planet in the solar
system. Biodiversity can be studied on a global level all the way down to studying it within a
microscopic ecosystem (National Wildlife Federation, 2015). It is important to understand that
biodiversity can be looked at genetically as well as environmentally as well. For example, genetic
biodiversity is seen in the variation of different breeds within the dog species, while environmental
biodiversity is the diversity of ecosystems and habitats (National Wildlife Federation, 2015).
Preserving biodiversity is perhaps the most important task that humans have to complete while living
on this planet. The ecosystems that make up all of the regions worldwide are immensely complex, so
conservation may be difficult at times. Additionally, many factors influence the species that inhabit
ecosystems, and these factors may complicate the preservation of biodiversity. Moreover, there is a
plethora of threats to biodiversity, both natural and manmade that are destroying ecosystems on a daily
basis. Out of these threats, the human influences are particularly severe and must be taken care of at
all costs. Biodiversity provides countless benefits for every ecosystem and creature, which is what
makes it worthy of conservation. Through the introduction and relocation of species, some degree of
restoration may be possible in the future. Biodiversity is an amazing natural process that makes life

Rational Appeasement
Rational Appeasement
Daniel Treisman
Abstract Since Munich, appeasement a policy of making unilateral concessions in the hope of
avoiding conflict has been considered a disastrous strategy+ Conceding to one adversary is thought to
undermine the conceder s reputation for resolve, provoking additional challenges+ Kreps, Wilson,
Milgrom, and Roberts formalized this logic in their 1982 solutions to the chain store paradox+ I show
with a series of models that if a state faces multiple challenges and has limited resources, the
presumption against appeasement breaks down: appeasing in one arena may then be vital to conserve

without thinking back on our mistakes, it is important for everyone to reflect off of their mistakes at
some point in their lives. There are ambiguous amount of lesson we can learn from our wrong doings

The Western Springs Fire Department Is The Low Amount Of...
Introduction
The fiscal problem that the Western Springs Fire Department has is the low amount of paid on call
firefighters. If the department looks at these different ways to receive money, they can provide
incentives to draw in future firefighters. Solutions would be to pay a higher hourly rate as well as
implement education tuition funds for the firefighters. As a result, the Department would be able to
offer more incentives to their new firefighters which would lead to increased amount firefighters that
will want to apply at this fire department. This will structure the department to stand out from the
other paid on call departments.
Body
Identify the problem
The fiscal problem is that there are not enough paid on call firefighters to respond to calls. Recruiting
more firefighters to the Western Springs Fire Department would be a benefit to the department as well
as the village. The department would have enough firefighters to control the all calls by mitigating the
problem and save life/ property. This would also eliminate the need of calling and rely on other
departments to respond to the villages own 911 call. If the fire department has extra beneficial items to
offer to the new firefighters it could attract more firefighters to join and this would stop the fiscal
problem.
Offer solutions to the problem
This Fire Department can explore multiple ways to attract future recruits into Western Springs.
Perhaps, this organization can look at other fire departments around

The Career Of A Nursing Profession
Even though a nursing profession is a time consuming and stressful career, the longing and desire to
be a nurse has always remained in me. There are many different professions in the medical field that I
considered at one point and worked different jobs. The passion I have for nursing has flourished
because of this life changing opportunity that is being given to me. Through the Vocational Nursing
Program, I will be able to receive the education to be able to provide care for my community and
fulfill my calling.
All my life nurses have surrounded me. My mother was diagnosed with Hodgkin Disease while I was
in the womb. She spent most of her early motherhood life in a Galveston, TX hospital. I also, in 2006
was diagnosed with cervical cancer and was given the proper care to battle the cancer and become a
survivor. The flourishing of my desire for nursing was also very clear when I experienced how to care
for another person. My cousin who has different disabilities has been ill since an infant. All her life I
have cared for her when I could and met numerous of nurses who are by her side twenty four seven.
The surrounding of nurses and their environment that I have been exposed to, has assured me that this
desire I have to further my education in this pathway is the right choice. I hope to attain the proper
education to gain closeness to the people in my community through this profession that I have a strong
desire for.

The Positive Effects Of Democracy s Effect On Economic Growth
Democratic countries have shown that they do better in economic growth. Yet, political competition
does fosters economic growth. Public welfare is boosted when leaders chose to depend on a larger
coalition to keep them in office. Indeed, economic growth depends on good economic policies,
however, good economic policies are not always in the best interests of political leaders. It is well
known historically that the major observation is that democracy has no negative effect of GDP growth
nor overall effect but, democracy might have some indirect positive effects which can be seen through
greater stability or more extensive property rights.
Democracy is defined as that institutional arrangement for arriving at political decisions in which
individuals acquire the power to decide by means of a competitive struggle for the people s vote . the
relationship to economic growth is what matters it is stronger when democracy is measured as an
increasing concept, not a constant. Nevertheless, both the duration and the level of democracy
experience matter when we look at the effect of democracy on economic growth. Lastly, long term
democracy which leads to stronger economic performance. Many articles believe that if democracy is
maintained over time, influences economic performance in four main channels, which are physical,
human, social and political, each one can be conceptualized as a variety of capital Bueno De Mesquita

Reflection Paper On How I Changed As A Speaker
I have changed as a speaker in various ways over this past semester. I have gotten more comfortable
with myself as a speaker. I learned instead of being scared and nervous to talk in front of my
classmates, to just put my self in a place where I feel comfortable. For example when I am speaking in
front of the class, I imagine myself standing in my living room just talking to my dad. Another thing
that helped me get through my speech is choosing a topic that I know a lot about, this helped my feel
more comfortable about what I was talking about. This helps build credibility. I realized that everyone
is going to have a strong opinion about certain topics but if you can provide valid information and
have good arguing point in a speech then it could really change peoples minds about a certain topic.
After I completed my first speech I really understood what it took to be a good speaker, especially
after getting feed back from my classmates. This helped improve confidence and all other aspects of
me speaking in front of a crowd. I felt as if the outlines helped me a lot. They gave me a basic idea of
what I need to do and say. They also helped me organize my thoughts and help me stay on track. The
quizzes also helped me understand the topics and why we needed to set up the outline the way we do.
It also helped me understand what was most important in the speech and what I should focus most on.
When you gave sample speeches this was my most helpful tool. You showed us exactly

The Administration Of Contrast Media
ASRS Article Summary Delvi L. Bautista Introduction to CT Holy Family University Samantha
Cepparulo B.S.R.S., R.T. (R) (CT) The administration of contrast media to a patient with the purpose
to examine their internal organs could have dangerous side effects or reactions to the patient. These
effects can average from mild to severe, however, sometimes they can lead to instant death. This
article retrieved from the American Association for radiologic technologists, simnifically describe in
detail the history of the use of contrast media in the CT department and other modalities. In addition,
the article emphasizes and addresses important issues such as the osmolality or ion state of the
contrast media, the distribution and excretion, the adverse effects, the systemic or idiosyncratic effects
and non categorized effects that the distribution of contrast media could have in patients. Moreover,
the author talks about who in a community is most likely to be a risk and impacted from those
procedures, also how these effects and reactions could be treated depending on the severity of the
reaction and the time period that it was detected after the contrast administration to the patient. The
history of the use of contrast media for radiographic procedures started back in the 1920 s.
Radiologists and scientists started developing and practicing with different concentrations of

What I Learned At The Group
Question 1
William: Honestly, it is refreshing to have you in the group, and if you have to leave you will surely be
missed. First off, your humor and attitude has always been qualities that I have felt were great for our
group. As you stated in an earlier thread, we agree and have the same perspectives on a lot of things,
which has limited our interaction in the group because we wanted to limit the amount of
piggybacking. Your own identification of your ability to use humor at the wrong times made me
reflect on myself, and realize that I do the same, and that I may need to be more aware of the times in
which I do it. William, stay motivated and encouraged, I wish you all the best.
Daniel: You were indeed a great addition to the group. You have enlightened me so much, and actually
helped me see how much I have to learn about in this field, and I truly appreciate it. With all your
knowledge and experience, I hope to learn more from you in the future, if possible. Working in this
field, encouragement and motivation is always important because as we both know the system is quite
flawed. Thanks for imparting so much knowledge this semester.
Jennifer: Second residency showed me a different side of you. In fact, talking to you allowed me to
see that we have a lot in common, especially our thoughts about the program. One thing I admire
about you is your consistency with the threads; I can always count on you to have your post up on

The Coherence Theory of Justification Essays
The Coherence Theory of Justification Cohertism is an alternative to foundationalism, cohertism is the
idea that new information is well justified and accepted as knowledge if it coheres (agrees) with our
existing knowledge in a mutually supporting network Coherentism offers answers to some of the
problems that arise with foundationalism, and therefore it offers an alternative or additional means of

coherently. However some beliefs that we hold do not necessary fit with our coherent set of beliefs,

But because my first set of beliefs the (more justified set), is more justified it seems more plausible
which makes me more confident in trusting that set, whereas the second one has little evidence and
justification so I cannot believe that over my more coherent knowledge. But how do my beliefs cohere
with one another, for how can you build beliefs based on another, I believe 2+2=4 but how can that
relate to the greenness of grass, and if you are using beliefs to justify others couldn t it just be one big
circular argument that self prophises a whole set of beliefs based a pon itself. And is it really sensible
to reject one set of beliefs simply because of the amount of beliefs I have in another, as the smaller
one could still be true and the evidence more valid than the first. But on the plus side it does seem that
most people in everyday life seem to go with whats most coherent and reject ideas that don t fit, so it
seems sensible to suggest that this is how we aquire knowledge and the system that we keep it in. It
also serves as a good alternative to foundationlism as foundationlism can seem too simplistic and
doesn t explain how beliefs at the top of the pile can justify the bottom. Evaluate the claim that
perceptions are caused by material objects. Been the logical person that I

Reaganomics Essay
How Reaganomics Will Affect My Life
Reaganomics was economics policies which were propelled by United States President, Ronald
Reagan during 1980s. These policies were based on fours pillars namely; reduction of the growth of
government spending, reduction of income and capital gains marginal tax rates, reduction of
government regulation of economy, and controlling of the money in supply so as to reduce inflation.
Their basic aims were to lower taxes and create a leaner government. According to Reagan his
decision was informed on stimulation of the economy taxes, financed by borrowing. Lowering taxes
was aimed at reviving the economy, which in turn would see the increased tax revenues being used to
offset the debts incurred (Niskanen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another theory that influenced reaganomicism was that of Milton Friedman. He was the founder of
monetarism. His theory asserts that the level and direction of spending on the federal budget is more
important than the amount of the deficit, and that a stable monetary policy allows borrowing to
finance an unbalanced budget . Reagan used the two when he oversaw a plan that relied on faith in
free enterprise, not necessary in government, as the basis for economic expansion (Boskin1987). As a
result of lower taxes, it prompted corporation to invest, leading U.S consumers to buy more. As the
company grew, due to increased consumer spending, it would indirectly raise government tax
revenues. The trend would trickle to benefit even the poorest U.S citizens. Reaganomics principles
encouraged many industries to have self control during the early 80s. This led to greater competition
and lower prices for consumers (Boskin 1887).
Reaganomics in a nut shell espouses that if a government offers incentives to the upper class tax cuts,
better operating environment they would in turn create jobs and the benefit trickles down to the
middle and lower classes. Today s reforms in

The internet has allowed the money market to operate 24 hours a day. It has been noted however that
exchange rate volatility has increased,[v] which makes it more difficult for the government to set
monetary policy. Microeconomic reforms, structural changes and the introduction of new technologies
altered the level of production and consumption in the manufacturing sector in the late 1980 s and
1990 s. The textile, footwear, clothing and motor vehicle industries were dramatically affected by
these reforms and many jobs were lost. The Australian Government participated in the reduction of
trade barriers as part of the General Agreement on Tariffs Trade (GATT). As a result there have been
pressures on the above mentioned industries that were previously protected. They have effectively
become, or are becoming, casualties of what is termed a race to the bottom between national
governments as they attempt to attract investment by undercutting competition.[vi] The industries
without protection are inefficient and thus profit is affected forcing firms to shift elsewhere or
outsource in search of improving efficiencies. Many Australian businesses are now outsourcing, or

The Reluctant Security Guard Essay
The Reluctant Security Guard
Companies in today s society are often required to abide by an abundant amount of rules and
regulations imposed upon them which stem from government and law enforcement authority. In
analyzing the Case of The Reluctant Security Guard we will examine the decision making process
which led to David Tuff effectively whistle blowing for what he felt was the right thing to do.
The policy that was in place for David Tuff was ultimately an oath he subscribed to when he became a
security guard, as well as his integrity of being a former U.S. Marine. He was required to abide by the
Security Officer s Manual, which included obeying the rules and regulations of the Superintendent of
Police. There is no ambiguity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Are the reasons for whistle blowing in line with reasons everyone can act upon in principle alone?
Tuff met with two other security guards regarding the overall issues, they concurred with him that they
too had grievances against the company policies. This act promotes the concept of universalizability,
and how it can be applied to the moral dilemma that Tuff faced. He now had people on his side, this
allowed him to gain emotional momentum which led him to speaking to the press shortly after he met
with his co workers. As far as reversibility applies to this examination, we could deduce that Tuff felt
that his actions would be just in that it would apply to him if the table was turned and he was an
innocent bystander waiting to bit hit by a drunk driver. Reversibility leads us to challenge the amount
of moral worth in the sense of duty that Tuff had to his oath, and to society. There is no doubt Tuff felt
that his duties as a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a sworn in security guard outweighed the conduct
and vision of the policy makers at the Blue Mountain Company.
An argument can be made that whistle blowing should only be warranted when there is a group or a
majority that feels something should be brought to the attention of an outside authority if deemed so.
As discussed in the study the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) determined that since his
actions were not a concerted effort among him and his colleagues, the

Hewlett Packard s Unethical Investigation
Unethical Investigation The fourth amendment to the United States constitution tells us that the right
of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches
and seizures, shall not be violated . In other words, it is illegal for persons to go through your things
without your consent or knowledge. This is fairly straightforward and simple, right? Not exactly!
Patricia Dunn was accused of hiring private investigators to investigate members of the board of

So far it seems like Dunn s hands were clean as she did not know the private investigators were using
the process of pretexting to gain the information. Then she admitted to receiving emails telling her

Dunn resign, so did Kevin Hunsaker, HP s senior director of ethics and company lawyer, and also

Why me? The simple fact of having an unprotected computer network, law enforcement not up to par,
and a challenge is all a hacker needs to cash in; sometimes personal, but for the most part, just
business as usual. Hackers once admired in the 1960 s are now dangerous and a threat to big box
corporations, small businesses, and personal computer users. Data breaches are the most lucrative
business for hackers still. An example of data breaching is Computer Memory Racking or also known
as memory consumption or memory corruption. Basically, an adversary gains unauthorized access to a
computer or computer s network through a network s hole to deploy malicious code and gain access to
the volatile data stored in memory.
Hackers are constantly probing corporations to acquire system information. Buffer overflows and OS
stack overflow are commonly caused by hackers when the buffer is not flushed regularly. A hacker
causes a Denial of Service (DoS) which are too many access requests at once so the webserver gets
confused and crashes opening the doors for the hacker. Once they are in the damage can be endless.
From web server over stacking (deployed script to make changes to settings) to sequel injections,
executed code typed beyond the password, e.g. I_like_toast and 1:1;select*from SYS.Objects. (2016,

Lately, we have seen an increase of attacks towards large corporations Point of Sale (POS) systems.

Borders By Thomas King Analysis
As one is passionate towards their heritage they will not identify or label themselves something there
not. They will show pride and courage by showing they are willing to fight for their cultures
independency. In the story Borders by Thomas King, King illustrates the idea that one should be proud
of their heritage and to never give up. The story expresses this through the mother s pride and her
personal identity. Pride is being proud of a skill or a particular quality. In this case Laetitia s mom is
honoured to represent the Blackfoot culture. She has showed many good traits in her personality, one
being pride. As she reached the border a guard told her Now, I know that we got Blackfeet on the
American side and the Canadians got Blackfeet

The Controversy Of Human Cloning
Human Cloning
The controversy of human cloning has contemplated the reasons it should or shouldn t be allowed.
Human cloning is the reproduction of human cells and tissue by creating a genetical copy artificially.
Clones contain original characteristics of the individual or cell. There are many dangerous risks and
great benefits to human cloning. Many people have an extraordinary reaction to cloning because it
creates all sorts of images. Cloning is a medical breakthrough that can help millions of people if it is
scientifically proven to be 100% safe. Is science really ready to officially clone a human?
Human cloning has advanced dramatically over the years. The first breakthrough in science was
cloning a sea urchin in 1885. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The moral code for religious people stands at cloning being unacceptable. Various religious followers
believe that science is playing God . This also corresponds with laws of the United States as well as
other countries. Laws have outlawed cloning in general or have research monitored, the issue was first
addressed by California legislature, which banned reproductive cloning, or cloning to initiate a
pregnancy, in 1997. Since then Arkansas, Connecticut, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts,
Michigan, Rhode Island, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Virginia have enacted
measures to prohibit reproductive cloning, (NCLS 1).
What are the benefits of human cloning? Even though genetically copying something has its
negatives, there are upswings. For example, cloning can help infertile couples get children of their
own. It also can help patients that are injured.
My believe stands on the fact that human cloning is wrong. With the low success rate it has, I do not
think that cloning is reasonable. Most of cloning has taken place with animals which cannot take the
place of a human being. There is a large room for error. What if the experiment goes wrong, then
what? That person could either be at risk for death or other

The Benefits Of Renewable Energy
Ever since the late 19th century, people have been trying to perfect energy sources to make their lives
easier. An ideal Energy source is one that costs little to produce, little to maintain, and yields a high
energy output. We found a temporary resource that we used for over a century, coal and natural gases.
The problem with sources like these are that they will eventually run out. Renewable energy is energy
that can be produced without depletion. Human have been using a form of renewable energy for
hundreds of years, such as the watermill. Renewable energy is needed because it will never run out, it
is more efficient than today s methods, and it does not pollute the environment with greenhouse gases
such as carbon dioxide. Renewable energy has many benefits such as the unlimited supply of it.
Renewable energy comes in many forms such as solar, hydropower, and wind power. Each source can
never run out unlike the main suppliers of today will eventually run out. In a high population country
like America, you can bet that a good form of transportation is needed. In America, the main source of
transportation is cars but planes, trains and boats also largely contribute to CO2
Emissions. The average American uses approximately 23.4 barrels of oil a year. This plus the amount
of people living in the U.S. equates to 20.7 million barrels each day. This leads to the U.S. importing
2/3rds of its oil from other countries. Since 1999, the oil in these countries have depleted

Analysis Of The Article Chambersburg And Gettysburg...
In the nineteenth century the daily life for the average American was changing, with the industrial
revolution in full swing, Americans began to see changes in the economy, transportation, increases in
food production, and the birth of the American system of manufacturing. America was modernizing,
but modernization took place mostly in the north creating a divide between the south which remained
agriculturally based. Daily life in the northern United States took on the hustle and bustle of a modern
economy which can be seen in articles from the Valley Spirit. In the article Chambersburg and
Gettysburg Railroad, the citizens of Fayetteville are interested in building a railroad linking the two
towns. Fayetteville s citizens have already contributed eighty dollars towards having the path surveyed
and would like for the citizens of Franklin County to donate the remaining fifty dollars to have the
project completed in a timely manner (Chambersburg and Gettysburg Railroad). The editors of this
article express great confidence in Franklin County s citizen s will to support this project
(Chambersburg and Gettysburg Railroad). This article shows the mind set of northern Americans and
their willingness to work together to modernize and improve the infrastructure of their towns and
cities. Another example of this mindset and desire to improve the infrastructure can be seen in the
article For the Valley Spirit, which talks about the construction of a bridge crossing the Franklin

The Consequences Of Patriotism As Moral Justification
Joshua Soifer Ms. Pultz English 9B 12 June 2017 Et Tu, Machiavelli The Consequences of Patriotism
as Moral Justification Civil rights activist Malcolm X once claimed that You re not supposed to be so
blind with patriotism that you can t face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who says it . Patriotism
plays a principal role in Shakespeare s Julius Caesar. In Julius Caesar, Shakespeare uses the actions of
Brutus in order to demonstrate the immorality of taking patriotic duty to be an absolute duty. This is
an important principle which allows us to interpret the actions of Brutus, and his influencers,
throughout the play. This idea has been supported and discussed by many philosophers, and is still just
as relevant in the world today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this noble impulse is what leaves him open to manipulation by his friend Cassius. Cassius
wants Caesar killed, for less noble reasons, and is willing to use deception and manipulation to obtain
his goal. Brutus sense of duty and patriotism provides him with the opportunity to get Brutus to act as
Cassius wishes him to. One example of Cassius manipulation is found when he claims to Brutus that
the noble Romans wished for Brutus to defeat Caesar, and take his power for the good of Rome. He
claims that [He has] heard, / Where many of the best respect in Rome / Except immortal Caesar,
speaking of Brutus / And groaning underneath this age s yoke, / Have wish d that noble Brutus had his
eyes (1.2.58 62). Cassius then begins his greatest deception, through faking letters from the people of
Rome, convincing Brutus that murdering Caesar was best for Rome. Cassius describes how he will ...
in at his windows throw, / As if they came from several citizens, / Writings all tending to the great
opinion / That Rome holds of his name; wherein obscurely / Caesar s ambition should be glanced at
(1.2.315 319). Cassius convinced Brutus, using his view that patriotism was a more important moral
ideal than any other, to murder Caesar due to the falsified views of the people. In this way, Brutus was
swayed by his patriotism in order to commit an immoral deed, that of killing his friend, Caesar. This
decision has

United States And The Refugees Of Afghanistan
Corinne Archambault World History
7/21/15 Ms. Sara Shelley 2nd Semester Outcast United To the townspeople of Clarkston, Georgia,
home meant small houses with white picket fences. . To the refugees of Afghanistan, Burundi, Congo,
Liberia, and Sudan to name a few, home had meant small wooden shacks and dirt roads; until civil
wars destroyed their villages and towns. All of a sudden, home to the refugees now meant small bare
walled apartments in Clarkston, Georgia. Warren St. John s Outcasts United, illustrates the struggles
of both the refugees and the townspeople as they adapt to the changes in Clarkston. In particular, St.
John focuses on a refugee soccer team led by a Jordanian woman named Luma Mufleh. While the
soccer team helped refugee families adjust to American Lifestyle, it prompted changes in the
community that the townspeople of Clarkston were not ready to acknowledge. The Clarkston residents
had to alter their lifestyle economically, religiously, and culturally to accommodate for the changes the
refugees brought.
The townspeople needed to change the way they ran their businesses in order to attract customer. Bill
Mehlinger was the owner of Thriftown, a grocery store in the middle of Clarkston. In 1990, when
Mehlinger bought the grocery store he had a customer base of half black half white. To cater to his
customers, Mehlinger made sure the store had all American choices (173). The store was doing well

The Negative Impact of American Prohibition
Implemented in the 1920 s, Prohibition made the selling and buying of alcoholic beverages illegal.
Rather than improve Americans lives, Prohibition created a multitude of issues. Prohibition was a
drastic failure and created more problems for the United States. Because of the lack of public support,
people believed in personal choice and thought it was up to them whether or not they wanted to drink.
There was a lack of enforcement of Prohibition and there were more speakeasies than officers. Many
government officials went to speakeasies themselves. The bootlegging industry became very
profitable, increasing crime and the number of gangs. Some officials were bribed by gangs as well as
politicians and this lead to a corrupt government and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bars of the early twentieth century were mainly hang outs for men. However, speakeasies were
open to both men and women establishing a gender equality. They also provided people a place to
relax and have a good time. Speakeasies allowed musicians, such as jazz artists to play in them,
making it popular during this era. Because of this, jazz musicians were able to make a living and
became more popular. Policemen in particular attended the speakeasies because they to also wanted to
join in on the fun. When people saw the police in the speakeasies they were more relaxed and didn t
worry about being arrested. If policemen were doing it they thought they could too. The bootlegging
industry became very profitable, making crime more popular, increasing the number of gangs. After
Prohibition went into effect the federal prison population went up 366% and the number of federal
convicts increased by 561%(()). All of this started with bootleg alcohol, the fuel of organized crime.
Because liquor was no longer legally available, the public turned to gangsters who readily took on the
bootlegging industry and supplied them with liquor. The industry became so profitable that more
gangsters became involved in this new money making business. The business of bootleg alcohol was
highly profitable for everyone involved which often fueled the Mafia or gang wars. Gangs made
millions selling bootleg alcohol so gangs often fought over territories and products. Al

The Black Mirror Episode Shut Up And Dance
With every action, there is a consequence. It is so ever often that someone can do a misdeed and
receive nothing from it. However, there would still be speculation from it. So if nothing happens, does
the person move on with their lives, or does it haunt them until they confess? Well, it depends on the
person. One can be paranoid of their surroundings, while the other can forget about what they did and
move on. If someone commits a crime and it caught, there will be a consequence. It can either be
shortly after the crime, or years later. Frankly, someone will have to face the consequences. The
criminal just has to deal with it and realize their actions are what led them to the consequence. No one

It will go in 2 directions. One will be where they hide what they did and accidentally commit more
crimes, while the other is that they found pleasure in committing the crime and want more of that
feeling. The first direction includes someone being paranoid and doing things they do not want or that
they usually would never do. It gets to a point where they have done enough damage and it breaks the
person. They cannot deal with it anymore and turn themselves in since they have nothing to lose
anymore. They lost themselves in the mess and the only way out is to accept it and come out with the
truth. The other direction goes as such: the person commits the crime and they feel good about it. They
get that high that boosts their confidence and they love that feeling. They need more of it. Therefore,
they will continue to do more crimes and with each one, it escalates so they can get the same high as
the first one. Each one gets worse and so on until they get caught. At that point, they are feeling so
high that they are unaware of the situation until they calm down and realize what is happening. One
can go either direction, but facing the consequence is

The real problem is not whether machines think, but whether men do; B.F. Skinner. This quote rings
true in today s world. Ray Bradbury predicted this particular problem with technology in his fiction
novel The Pedestrian. Published in 1951, The Pedestrian predicts some of the problems society will
have with technology in the future. Even in 1951 Ray Bradbury could see that technology is very
addicting and hard on originality. For example, in The Pedestrian the whole city is inside watching
their viewing boxes. The main character Leonard is outside and gets arrested for taking a walk at
night. In Leonard s world, him not wanting to be pacified by technology is regressive , and regressive
behavior is scary. Leonard is alone in The Pedestrian.

Child Life Specialist Research Paper
Child life specialists play an increasingly important role in health care by helping children and
families cope and adjust to the challenges of hospital visits. Although a child life specialist s
contribution to the health care experience of children and families can vary, their primary goal is to
support the emotional needs of children with the aim of helping them understand the hospital
environment. Secondly, child life specialists can help to provide positive play therapy experiences for
children to help reduce anxiety and fear. Additionally, they can help prepare children for surgery or
medical procedures by demonstrating and communicating what they will see, hear, feel, and/ or wear.

experiences in the classrooms that every child is unique. My education has taught me that the planning
and implementation of strategies, activities, and programs must be tailored to meet the needs of the
child, building on their strengths. I possess a variety of qualities and characteristics that would allow
me to be a child life specialist. The first attribute I bring to the profession is my love to work with
children. In the classroom, I find it rewarding to watch children learn, grow, and develop and I believe
that this love easily transfers to a hospital setting. The second skill that I would bring to the child

Criticism Of Medea
I cannot find one reason for divorcing theatrics from history why must history wear such a dry cloak
of dullness? I love theatre and you see its profound effects in my writing especially tragedy. History is
dramatized through speeches and conversations among the characters I portray, so much that people
have coined the term tragic history to encapsulate my works, in which I proudly claim ownership.
Euripedes has been thought to be a mediocre playwright but nonetheless determinedly produces more
plays. I have long admired his tenacity in being an innovator amidst a scene that constantly subjects
him to ridicule. With my status as a tragic historian as some may put it, I am in an informed position to
critique this play. My belief is that people accord him with less recognition than he actually deserves,
and I genuinely appreciate the ingenious tragic elements he incorporates to distinguish Medea from
other mainstream tragedies.
As a historian and a Greek citizen, nomos is a concept close to my heart. Before the play, Medea was
portrayed as a ruthless witch renowned for her sorcery and deception. Even though she ... Show more

only mounts her fury towards him, and readers, fully aware of Medea s historical barbarism, are

I have observed a fair bit of tragic motives dominating the play that I have incorporated in my own
writings. The motives span revenge, or tisis to tragic warners

Love And Cruelty In James Hurst s The Scarlet Ibis
Love and cruelty are two feelings that are so different, yet they are very similar. Cruelty can be
changed and conquered by love, turning into a proud, and wonderful thing. Yet, love can still fall apart
against the harshness of cruelty. James Hurst represents this idea through his characters, Doodle and
Brother, in his work, The Scarlet Ibis . Doodle is born with a caul around his head and grows up
crippled and physically limited. Brother is ashamed of Doodle s limitations and teaches Doodle how
to walk, run, climb, fight and swim. Hurst uses the symbols of the storm and the scarlet ibis to
demonstrate the cruelty and the love in Doodle and Brother s relationship, ultimately showing how
even the strongest of relationships can end.
The storm is used to symbolize Brother s cruelty towards Doodle. Doodle is born with a membrane
surrounding his head, a caul. Because of this, Brother is embarrassed and ashamed of Doodle not
being normal . Brother so much thought of killing Doodle to remove his problem although he never
actually did. Yet one day while Brother is watching Doodle in his crib, he sees Doodle smile and
realizes that he does have a brother in there. This inspires Brother to try and teach Doodle how to do
basic things any kid his age should be able to do. After having spent a lot of time with Doodle, Brother
has an epiphany and realizes he did not do this because of love, he did it because he is embarrassed
and ashamed of having a crippled brother. Yet one day while

  • 2. Ww1 Informal Letter My beloved daughter Magdalene, I was overjoyed to recieve your letter. I hope you maintain your good grade and take very good care of your sister, Meredith. I miss your charming personality and smile that would bright up a room. I could use one of your hugs right about now. The infirmary isnt exaclty the most cheerfull place. Usually i would be filling sandbags right about now because we rotate responsibilities between the frontlines and the fields. Our lives on the frontlines are horrendous. There are not enough words to describe how terrible the frontline trenches truly are. There are thousands of mice , not like the ones you would see behind the schoolhouse, these are huge and often carry nasty diseases and infections such as lice. There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We waited to receive the orders from the lieutenant, but in my head i was already saying my prayers. He had told us to retrace our steps. I ran with everything I had in me, the proper duckboard made it somewhat easier to run but didn t take away from the fact that i was running with about 50kg of ammunition with me. We ran and arunned until we found the sap, while lieutenant provided shelter fire. We got out of the enemy trenches and crawled through the enemy s barbed wire. In the process of me going through the barbed wire, I cut my eye. Within seconds it was swollen shut and I thought I was in a dream. Maybe all of this was just a nightmare. I was later told i was suffering from extreme blood loss. Soon i felt something pull me i honestly thought i was being taken for german prisoner. But i heard a familiar voice. It was the lieutenant telling me to wake up. With whatever strength i had left and the help of the lieutenant,i staggered across no man s land And made it to our trenches were i was rushed to the infirmary. Not to soon after we arrived to safety, well as close to safety as we could have gotten the germans released fire on us. Although my eye is severely damaged, it couldve been alot worse; I am grateful that i returned all in one piece. I miss you dearly and am waiting to see you. If i do not make it hone in time for your birthday i shall wish your blessings upon you now. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Relationship Analysis Between Statutes and Case Law Relationship Analysis between Statutes and Case Law Laws against discrimination in employment were developed to provide remedies for victims of this unfortunate form of behavior that exists in America today. The following paper provides insight into lawsuits based on discrimination in the areas of age, religion, and disability and the statutes that provide complainants with the ability to seek relief from discriminatory practices. Employment Law – Age Discrimination Smith v. City of Jackson, Mississippi On March 30, 2005, the Supreme Court decided the case of Smith v. City of Jackson, Mississippi. The case summary is as follows: 30 Police officers and Police dispatchers in Jackson, Mississippi sued the city, challenging a pay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1966 the EEOC issued regulations that provided that employers must afford accommodation unless it would cause a serious inconvenience to the conduct of business. In 1967, this regulation was further refined to read undue hardship on the conduct of the employer s business. These regulations were quickly challenged as was the EEOC authority to issue such regulations. (Foltin Standish, 2004, p. 3). Finally, in 1972 Congress amended Title VII adding a new section 701(j), which reads as follows: The term religion includes all aspects of religious observance and practice, as well as belief, unless an employer demonstrates that he is unable to reasonably accommodate to an employee s or perspective employee s religious observance or practice without undue hardship on the conduct of the employer s business. This still left the defining of the terminology reasonably accommodate and undue hardship to the legal system. Case Law – Trans World Airlines, Inc. v. Hardison Background In this case, Larry G. Hardison was an employee with TWA working as a clerk in the Stores Department at its Kansas City base. This was an essential role in the Kansas City operation as the Stores Department must operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. This was also a union operation and Hardison was subject to a seniority system. Hardison was hired by TWA in June 1967 and in the spring of 1968 he began to study the religion known as the Worldwide Church of God. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Biodiversity And Its Impact On Biodiversity Biodiversity is what makes the planet earth unique and different from every other planet in the solar system. Biodiversity can be studied on a global level all the way down to studying it within a microscopic ecosystem (National Wildlife Federation, 2015). It is important to understand that biodiversity can be looked at genetically as well as environmentally as well. For example, genetic biodiversity is seen in the variation of different breeds within the dog species, while environmental biodiversity is the diversity of ecosystems and habitats (National Wildlife Federation, 2015). Preserving biodiversity is perhaps the most important task that humans have to complete while living on this planet. The ecosystems that make up all of the regions worldwide are immensely complex, so conservation may be difficult at times. Additionally, many factors influence the species that inhabit ecosystems, and these factors may complicate the preservation of biodiversity. Moreover, there is a plethora of threats to biodiversity, both natural and manmade that are destroying ecosystems on a daily basis. Out of these threats, the human influences are particularly severe and must be taken care of at all costs. Biodiversity provides countless benefits for every ecosystem and creature, which is what makes it worthy of conservation. Through the introduction and relocation of species, some degree of restoration may be possible in the future. Biodiversity is an amazing natural process that makes life ... • 5. Rational Appeasement Rational Appeasement Daniel Treisman Abstract Since Munich, appeasement a policy of making unilateral concessions in the hope of avoiding conflict has been considered a disastrous strategy+ Conceding to one adversary is thought to undermine the conceder s reputation for resolve, provoking additional challenges+ Kreps, Wilson, Milgrom, and Roberts formalized this logic in their 1982 solutions to the chain store paradox+ I show with a series of models that if a state faces multiple challenges and has limited resources, the presumption against appeasement breaks down: appeasing in one arena may then be vital to conserve sufficient resources to deter in others+ I identify appeasement and deterrence equilibria, and I show that when the ... • 7. The Western Springs Fire Department Is The Low Amount Of... Introduction The fiscal problem that the Western Springs Fire Department has is the low amount of paid on call firefighters. If the department looks at these different ways to receive money, they can provide incentives to draw in future firefighters. Solutions would be to pay a higher hourly rate as well as implement education tuition funds for the firefighters. As a result, the Department would be able to offer more incentives to their new firefighters which would lead to increased amount firefighters that will want to apply at this fire department. This will structure the department to stand out from the other paid on call departments. Body Identify the problem The fiscal problem is that there are not enough paid on call firefighters to respond to calls. Recruiting more firefighters to the Western Springs Fire Department would be a benefit to the department as well as the village. The department would have enough firefighters to control the all calls by mitigating the problem and save life/ property. This would also eliminate the need of calling and rely on other departments to respond to the villages own 911 call. If the fire department has extra beneficial items to offer to the new firefighters it could attract more firefighters to join and this would stop the fiscal problem. Offer solutions to the problem This Fire Department can explore multiple ways to attract future recruits into Western Springs. Perhaps, this organization can look at other fire departments around ... There are many different professions in the medical field that I considered at one point and worked different jobs. The passion I have for nursing has flourished because of this life changing opportunity that is being given to me. Through the Vocational Nursing Program, I will be able to receive the education to be able to provide care for my community and fulfill my calling. All my life nurses have surrounded me. My mother was diagnosed with Hodgkin Disease while I was in the womb. She spent most of her early motherhood life in a Galveston, TX hospital. I also, in 2006 was diagnosed with cervical cancer and was given the proper care to battle the cancer and become a survivor. The flourishing of my desire for nursing was also very clear when I experienced how to care for another person. My cousin who has different disabilities has been ill since an infant. • 10. The Positive Effects Of Democracy s Effect On Economic Growth Democratic countries have shown that they do better in economic growth. Yet, political competition does fosters economic growth. Public welfare is boosted when leaders chose to depend on a larger coalition to keep them in office. Indeed, economic growth depends on good economic policies, however, good economic policies are not always in the best interests of political leaders. It is well known historically that the major observation is that democracy has no negative effect of GDP growth nor overall effect but, democracy might have some indirect positive effects which can be seen through greater stability or more extensive property rights. Democracy is defined as that institutional arrangement for arriving at political decisions in which individuals acquire the power to decide by means of a competitive struggle for the people s vote . the relationship to economic growth is what matters it is stronger when democracy is measured as an increasing concept, not a constant. Nevertheless, both the duration and the level of democracy experience matter when we look at the effect of democracy on economic growth. • 11. Reflection Paper On How I Changed As A Speaker I have changed as a speaker in various ways over this past semester. I have gotten more comfortable with myself as a speaker. I learned instead of being scared and nervous to talk in front of my classmates, to just put my self in a place where I feel comfortable. For example when I am speaking in front of the class, I imagine myself standing in my living room just talking to my dad. Another thing that helped me get through my speech is choosing a topic that I know a lot about, this helped my feel more comfortable about what I was talking about. This helps build credibility. I realized that everyone is going to have a strong opinion about certain topics but if you can provide valid information and have good arguing point in a speech then it could really change peoples minds about a certain topic. After I completed my first speech I really understood what it took to be a good speaker, especially after getting feed back from my classmates. This helped improve confidence and all other aspects of me speaking in front of a crowd. I felt as if the outlines helped me a lot. They gave me a basic idea of what I need to do and say. They also helped me organize my thoughts and help me stay on track. The quizzes also helped me understand the topics and why we needed to set up the outline the way we do. It also helped me understand what was most important in the speech and what I should focus most on. When you gave sample speeches this was my most helpful tool. You showed us exactly ... • 13. What I Learned At The Group Question 1 William: Honestly, it is refreshing to have you in the group, and if you have to leave you will surely be missed. First off, your humor and attitude has always been qualities that I have felt were great for our group. As you stated in an earlier thread, we agree and have the same perspectives on a lot of things, which has limited our interaction in the group because we wanted to limit the amount of piggybacking. Your own identification of your ability to use humor at the wrong times made me reflect on myself, and realize that I do the same, and that I may need to be more aware of the times in which I do it. William, stay motivated and encouraged, I wish you all the best. Daniel: You were indeed a great addition to the group. You have enlightened me so much, and actually helped me see how much I have to learn about in this field, and I truly appreciate it. With all your knowledge and experience, I hope to learn more from you in the future, if possible. • 17. Reaganomics Essay How Reaganomics Will Affect My Life Reaganomics was economics policies which were propelled by United States President, Ronald Reagan during 1980s. These policies were based on fours pillars namely; reduction of the growth of government spending, reduction of income and capital gains marginal tax rates, reduction of government regulation of economy, and controlling of the money in supply so as to reduce inflation. Their basic aims were to lower taxes and create a leaner government. According to Reagan his decision was informed on stimulation of the economy taxes, financed by borrowing. Another theory that influenced reaganomicism was that of Milton Friedman. He was the founder of monetarism. His theory asserts that the level and direction of spending on the federal budget is more important than the amount of the deficit, and that a stable monetary policy allows borrowing to finance an unbalanced budget . Reagan used the two when he oversaw a plan that relied on faith in free enterprise, not necessary in government, as the basis for economic expansion (Boskin1987). As a result of lower taxes, it prompted corporation to invest, leading U.S consumers to buy more. As the company grew, due to increased consumer spending, it would indirectly raise government tax revenues. The trend would trickle to benefit even the poorest U.S citizens. Reaganomics principles encouraged many industries to have self control during the early 80s. This led to greater competition and lower prices for consumers (Boskin 1887). The Reluctant Security Guard Essay The Reluctant Security Guard Companies in today s society are often required to abide by an abundant amount of rules and regulations imposed upon them which stem from government and law enforcement authority. In analyzing the Case of The Reluctant Security Guard we will examine the decision making process which led to David Tuff effectively whistle blowing for what he felt was the right thing to do. The policy that was in place for David Tuff was ultimately an oath he subscribed to when he became a security guard, as well as his integrity of being a former U.S. Marine. He was required to abide by the Security Officer s Manual, which included obeying the rules and regulations of the Superintendent of Police. There is no ambiguity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Are the reasons for whistle blowing in line with reasons everyone can act upon in principle alone? Tuff met with two other security guards regarding the overall issues, they concurred with him that they too had grievances against the company policies. This act promotes the concept of universalizability, and how it can be applied to the moral dilemma that Tuff faced. He now had people on his side, this allowed him to gain emotional momentum which led him to speaking to the press shortly after he met with his co workers. As far as reversibility applies to this examination, we could deduce that Tuff felt that his actions would be just in that it would apply to him if the table was turned and he was an innocent bystander waiting to bit hit by a drunk driver. Reversibility leads us to challenge the amount of moral worth in the sense of duty that Tuff had to his oath, and to society. There is no doubt Tuff felt that his duties as a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a sworn in security guard outweighed the conduct and vision of the policy makers at the Blue Mountain Company. An argument can be made that whistle blowing should only be warranted when there is a group or a majority that feels something should be brought to the attention of an outside authority if deemed so. The simple fact of having an unprotected computer network, law enforcement not up to par, and a challenge is all a hacker needs to cash in; sometimes personal, but for the most part, just business as usual. Hackers once admired in the 1960 s are now dangerous and a threat to big box corporations, small businesses, and personal computer users. Data breaches are the most lucrative business for hackers still. An example of data breaching is Computer Memory Racking or also known as memory consumption or memory corruption. Basically, an adversary gains unauthorized access to a computer or computer s network through a network s hole to deploy malicious code and gain access to the volatile data stored in memory. Hackers are constantly probing corporations to acquire system information. Buffer overflows and OS stack overflow are commonly caused by hackers when the buffer is not flushed regularly. An ideal Energy source is one that costs little to produce, little to maintain, and yields a high energy output. We found a temporary resource that we used for over a century, coal and natural gases. The problem with sources like these are that they will eventually run out. Renewable energy is energy that can be produced without depletion. Human have been using a form of renewable energy for hundreds of years, such as the watermill. In Julius Caesar, Shakespeare uses the actions of Brutus in order to demonstrate the immorality of taking patriotic duty to be an absolute duty. History is dramatized through speeches and conversations among the characters I portray, so much that people have coined the term tragic history to encapsulate my works, in which I proudly claim ownership. Euripedes has been thought to be a mediocre playwright but nonetheless determinedly produces more plays. I have long admired his tenacity in being an innovator amidst a scene that constantly subjects him to ridicule. With my status as a tragic historian as some may put it, I am in an informed position to critique this play. My belief is that people accord him with less recognition than he actually deserves, and I genuinely appreciate the ingenious tragic elements he incorporates to distinguish Medea from other mainstream tragedies. Cruelty can be changed and conquered by love, turning into a proud, and wonderful thing. Yet, love can still fall apart against the harshness of cruelty. James Hurst represents this idea through his characters, Doodle and Brother, in his work, The Scarlet Ibis . Doodle is born with a caul around his head and grows up crippled and physically limited. Brother is ashamed of Doodle s limitations and teaches Doodle how to walk, run, climb, fight and swim. Hurst uses the symbols of the storm and the scarlet ibis to demonstrate the cruelty and the love in Doodle and Brother s relationship, ultimately showing how even the strongest of relationships can end. The storm is used to symbolize Brother s cruelty towards Doodle. Doodle is born with a membrane surrounding his head, a caul. Because of this, Brother is embarrassed and ashamed of Doodle not being normal . Brother so much thought of killing Doodle to remove his problem although he never actually did. Yet one day while Brother is watching Doodle in his crib, he sees Doodle smile and realizes that he does have a brother in there. This inspires Brother to try and teach Doodle how to do basic things any kid his age should be able to do. After having spent a lot of time with Doodle, Brother has an epiphany and realizes he did not do this because of love, he did it because he is embarrassed and ashamed of having a crippled brother.
