Obtaining Motion Blur Parameters Form The Frequency Spectrum
Obtaining Motion Blur Parameters Form The Frequency Spectrum
Fourier transform is applied on digital images to interprets their content in terms frequency
information. To illustrate, Flat areas, where the intensity is slowly changing, result in low frequencies.
Rough areas, on the other hand, result in high frequencies because of the dramatic change in the
intensity value. this paper discusses the impact of manipulating the frequency information of digital
images and how the frequency spectrum can be used to address a real world situation.
Filtering an image in the frequency domain is usually composed of three steps. First, the Fourier
transform is calculated (DCT or DFT). Then, a certain operation is performed on the frequencies ...

Huei and Kun [2] proposed that the speed of moving objects in a single image can be estimated using
the blur parameters, the camera parameters and imaging geometry. To illustrate, the displacement of a
moving object (d) can be determined using similar triangles according to the blur length (k) Figure2.
And by knowing the shutter speed of the camera (T), the speed of the object is v =d/T(1). Since this
paper is concerned with Fourier Transform, the details of equation (1) are omitted and calculating the
blur parameter is detailed below.
The blur parameters, including the blurs direction and length, can be determined by examining their
impact on the Fourier spectrum. As shown in figure, the Fourier spectrum of the motion blur contains
strips of dark lines that are parallel and uniformly separated. Note that the Fourier spectrum depends
on the objects orientation; so the direction of the motion blur could be extracted from the frequency
spectrum. Also, as the blurs length increase, the edges get smoother, resulting in lower frequency
response. These observations suggest that the frequency spectrum has all the needed information to
determine the blurs parameters. In particular, the object shown in the figure is moving along the
horizontal axis, and this caused the vertical orientation of the dark lines in the frequency spectrum.
Furthermore, increasing the blurs length, which can be achieved by increasing the object s speed,
lessens the distance

The Attachment Theory Essay
The Attachment Theory
The attachment theory talks about the early significance and developments of attachment between
infants and their mothers. Attachment can be defined as intense, emotional ties to specific people.
The attachment process can be divided into pre attachment, discriminate and indiscriminate and
multiple attachment phases.
The development of specific attachment is shown through separation anxiety.
The most influential versions of this approach was probably that of Sigmund Freud, who believed that
the infants upset at the mothers absence is based on the crass fear that bodily needs would now go
unsatisfied.
The British psychiatrist john bowlby called this the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The strange situation is used to classify the baby s basic attachment to the mother into three main
types: anxious avoidant, securely attached and anxious resistant.
The crucial feature determining the quality of attachment is the mother s sensitivity.
Bolwby suggest that such a built in fear of the unfamiliar has a simple survival value. Infants who lack
it are more likely to stray away from their mothers and will be more likely to go and perish.
Bolwby suggest that the first five years of life are crucial to the Child s later development. He
highlighted four majors systems in infant behavior, whereby he stated that children use all four of
these systems in their interaction with their environment and the people around them.
He stated what is known as the continuity hypothesis, which is the idea that a damaged infancy leads
to the idea of a damaged childhood which in turn leads to a damaged adulthood.
Infants who do not have any sort of attachments whatsoever could have some everlasting effects on
their adulthood. Researcher s tizard and Hodges 1978 concluded from their research that children may
be deprived of their opportunity to form personal attachments if they are raised in an institution.
Also, there is evidence that disruption in the family home during childhood could affect how the
parents interact with their

King Tut s Death Mask And The Statues Of Rameses
Once towering, but now slowly crumbling pyramids grace the horizon, bejeweled and dusty royal
mummies lay buried and forgotten by the sands of time, and mysterious and often strangely heroic
murals intertwined with a scattering of hieroglyphics sprawl across the walls of tombs and temples
alike. These are the only evidence left of a once vast empire that is rapidly falling into disrepair as its
already decrepit state grows worse. However, the current state of ancient Egypt does not curb the
curiosity of adventure seekers looking to peek into a diminished era; today, a multitude of onlookers
wander through the glorious yet now empty tombs that once held ancient Egypt s elite. Millions more
in museums around the world peer through the glass enclosing the precious jewels, fragmented pottery
and statues, and frayed and often threadbare garments that before adorned peasant and monarch alike.
Nevertheless, it is the fascinating intricacies and myths surrounding pieces such as King Tut s death
mask and the statues of Rameses the Great that still grip one with awe and leave lingering unanswered
questions behind. What was Egypt like during the reign of each of these age old monarchs? Even more
so, what traits and morals did each hold that wove legacies characterized with such vivid larger than
life personas of each, yet above all else, how could one pharaoh inscribe his story in our hearts as to

What Is Mardi Gras Parade
1. What is this parade called, and where is it located? What is this parade about? What are they
celebrating in this parade? Few parades are more iconic than the Mardi Gras parades of New Orleans.
Many may view Mardi Gras as simply a giant parade of debauchery centering around revelry, alcohol,
bead throwing and an excuse to bare skin. However, there are also those who do not know that there
are many parades rather than one Mardi Gras Parade. These parades are deeply rooted in the history
and society of New Orleans and its residents. These Parades are celebrations leading up to Mardi Gras
(translated to Fat Tuesday from the French) which marks the beginning of the Christian Lent period.
Lent involves fasting (with much of the focus on the abstinence of meat consumption,) but Mardi Gras
parade roots herald back to ancient Rome. Roman men would disguise themselves during the winter

The Trial And Death Of Socrates Analysis
In order to leave a memorable past, you have to learn how to stand tall for what you believe in.
Anyone who can be easily persuaded is not someone who cares to be remembered. The ones who are
always remembered are the ones who didn t follow the rest of the crowd. In the Trial and Death of
Socrates, Socrates was brought up on false chargers and was still able to hold his stance. For Socrates
he thought he would think logically instead of like the others. However, at that point it was frowned
upon to think a different way. Socrates tries to use his own ideology and make others see from his
point of view. When he is put on trial, he uses good arguments to defend himself. For example, when
Meletus says that majority improve the young while the minority corrupt it, but Socrates brings up a
great point with horses and other animals. While with animals the minority improve and the majority
corrupt. (25B) During Socrates trial, a lot of details cluing into a bigger picture showing how he is
able to prove his innocence and also stand up for what he believes in. One example, is him trying to
focus the attention away from him being a sophist. Socrates was not charging his student to learn his
teachings. He was teaching from his own will, not for a pay cut. Most of the leaders who start big
movement do it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

himself in a good manor and set example for his sons. Socrates wish s not to be freed from jail
because, the people will feel as if he is going against what he believes; and if this becomes the case
then Socrates will lose his support from followers. Socrates believes that the opinion of the many do

How Did The Fur Trade Affect The Cree Indian Culture
In the 1800s the fur trade had a great impact on the lifestyle of the Cree Indians, both economically
and culturally. The fur trade helped the Natives make an income and obtain goods they could not get
before. However great the impact of the fur trading was on their economy, the decline in fur bearing
animals had a devastating effect on their culture. It can therefore be said that although the fur trade
had a positive short term impact on the Cree Indian s economy, in the long term, the cultural ways of
living that were adapted and lost impacted them negatively.
Early contact of the Europeans with the Cree allowed for the establishment of trading patterns.
Europeans discovered that the soft fur was ideal for processing into felt to decorate ... Show more

In addition to losing material such as ammunition and firearms that would have simplified their
hunting and fishing methods, the Europeans imposed their beliefs and ways of life onto the natives.
They imposed their religious beliefs on the Cree, gradually converting them to Christianity (Vance).
Also, because of alcoholism and diseases unknown to the Cree, the people were left with no remedies
to the illnesses, devastating the people in different ways. In addition to all that was brought from the
Europeans through the fur trade, the introduction to different farming and hunting manners led them to
alter their own way of life (Vance). The connection that was established between the Cree and the
Europeans impacted where the Cree decided to live and even how they exploited the resources on
which the trade and their survival was founded (Carlos, Lewis). This is important because it
demonstrates how the fur trade altered the Cree s lifestyle. This led to the Cree s slowly forgetting
how to hunt for their own food in their own ways. It becomes clear from the above, that the Cree
culture and their traditional lifestyle started to slowly fade away and tat the European way of living

The Most Brutal Dictators Of Jeff Stalin
I agree with this quote the most even though it was said by one of the most brutal dictators in the
world, Josef Stalin. Education is an extremely powerful object that you need to use carefully. In other
words supply the student with the correct and fact based answer rather than an answer that you think is
correct.
In America a good education is the difference between working at Walmart, and being a computer
programer at Google. A good education is one that has these qualities, it is enticing to the student, it
prepares the student for the world to come, and provides the student with facts that they can make
their own opinions on. Enticing is key to keep the student focus on school rather than other things. If

Descriptive Essay About The Forest
The Forest When The laughter started I knew I should run, but I didn t. why? I don t remember, but
that doesn t matter, now that I m dead anyway; So let s get on with how this happened. I was in the
woods walking around while the party was going. I started to get a feeling someone was watching me,
someone probably was, I thought. There were people all around me they were all from the party, I
knew this because I saw a lot of people walk in here before I did to find... never mind. I started
hearing sticks cracking. Nothing To be afraid of but it did creep me out a little. After only a minute or
two was when I started to hear it; The child. The laughs got louder the light shifted it was much darker
than a minute ago, no, no, ten seconds ago. It looked like the beginning of night time, not the light of
early evening when I first arrived to the party. What time was it? I check my watch, 7:47 pm no,
definitely not right. As the laughs got louder I started to think are they messing with me? No, the
laughs sound to close right in front of me. I started to to walk back to the party it was over I was not
going to find... no I must get back maybe they are already back. Then I heard a scream, I ran. The light
seemed to get darker as I ran, then I heard a boom and a blinding light flashed close to me, was that
lighting? I ran as fast as I could. The wind picked up and was blowing strong gusts my way the pine

The Problem Of Fraud And Its Effects On Society
Enlightenment thinker Giacomo Leopardi claims that [t]he combative spirit...derives from the folly of
human beings who will not accept the circumstances of life (Leopardi). In a society where people
value success over dignity, this lack of acceptance leads to the callous deception that causes so much
suffering today. This deception, found in contract fraud, means that the one soliciting a contract
benefits more than the one who signs it when the terms of the agreement are manipulated. Fraud has
become one of the top three causes of bankruptcy in America, along with medical bills and job loss (
Top ). In fact, a 2015 study by the Federal Trade Commission found that 25.6 million people had
agreed to a fraudulent contract that year because they were not clearly given all of the terms
(Ramirez). The manipulation of contracts to gain an advantage in society implements precaution that
undermines trust and ultimately leads to increasingly apathetic individuals.
People exploit contract fraud to gain an advantage over others in our competitive society. People who
commit contract fraud consent to do whatever it takes to become their definition of successful ,
regardless of the innocent people that suffer as a consequence. This could also come in the form of a
misrepresentation of services. An anonymous survey conducted by Harvard University found that 52%
of people surveyed lied on their resume to gain their desired job (Badaracco and Useem). A resume is
like a promise that one

Electron Distribution Using Peas Lab
The labs I chose were Electron Distribution using Peas, Mendeleev for a Day, and Flame Tests. I
chose these labs because they helped me realize how electrons work and why the periodic table is set
up the way it is. It also helped me see how electrons work in the atoms of the periodic table. The
Electron Distribution using Peas lab helped me understand how the electrons are placed in levels
based on their energy. For this lab, we had to make a target and put peas into a funnel. After that, we
let the peas go and saw what happened. The peas represented the electrons and the parts of the target
were the different energy levels of an atom. The levels allow the electrons to keep moving up once
they are full. After this is known, then we can put that information into an electron configuration.
There is not an exact path as to where the electrons are supposed to go, so where the peas landed
showed us the different regions of high and low density. Also in this lab, the quantum mechanical
model shows that there is not a set spot as to how the electrons are going to go. ... Show more content

Mendeleev knew that there would be elements that would fill the entire table, but they were not yet
discovered, so he left their spots blank. He organized the table by their increasing atomic mass. In this
lab, our job was to mix unknown solutions with known solutions and record what happened once they
were mixed. Once we completed our objectives for the lab, we were to group the solutions with
similar characteristics like Mendeleev did when he was organizing his table. Unlike Mendeleev, we
did not group ours with atomic mass. The periodic table tells us what the atomic mass of an atom is.
The periodic table is shaped the way it is because of its properties of the elements. Mendeleev
predicted what the properties were, whereas, we saw the changes and grouped by that. (What is the

Essay On Homomorphic Filter
Abstract
In spite of the significant research conducted on multiplicative noise removal using homomorphic
filter, the development of efficient de noising methods is still one of the most important tasks. Noise
effects badly on the signal. In many times signals are consolidated in a complicated way. Sending
visual digital images is one of the main problems that we face in modern data communication
network. Sometimes the image may not be received from the source by the receiver and it may get
interrupted with noise. To get high quality image we must reduce the noise in image which involves
the manipulation of the image data. For noise reduction we have various solutions are available. We

society that is changing the normal and becoming something different. The world is changing, people
no longer care to please others and achieve their approval. We wear what we want to wear, we say

Pros And Cons Of Electric Over Gas Pressure Washer
Why Choose Electric Over Gas Pressure Washers? When it comes to pressure washers, the verdict is

worth having. Other people feel that they could not live without their electric pressure washer. Which
one is best for you? Here is why you may decide to choose one over the other. Electric Powered
Pressure Washers With an electric pressure washer, you will experience both pros and cons. The pros
include the fact that it can be very powerful. Some electric pressure washers are up to 2000 PSI.

They are heavy, but they often have wheels to help you with portability. These pressure washers do
require you to perform maintenance on it. However, if you keep up with the routine maintenance, they
may last you for many years. These pressure washers are more powerful than the electric ones. Some
of the higher end pressure washers can have up to 4,000 PSI and still be available for homeowners
instead of commercial use. The downside is, in most cases you will pay more for a gas powered
pressure washer. Sometimes, even for a small pressure washer, you may expect to spend $150 more
for a small gas powered pressure washer. This combined with the fact you have to buy detergents, gas,
oil, and other things makes some people choose to go with the electric powered pressure washers. The
problem with the extra price is mostly based on the fact that you may spend $250 on a gas powered
pressure washer or spend $100 on an electric pressure washer and end up with about the same PSI.
This happens because to spend that little on a gas powered machine, you will be purchasing a low end
gas powered pressure washer. If you spend $100 on an electric, you should be getting a middle to high

The Best Practice Procedures The Cls Have Set Up A Number...
To coincide with the best practice procedures the CLS have set up a number of risk management
procedures for its members and the procedures to become a member. Every instruction must go
through various tests before it is accepted by the CLS. (Swiss National Bank p. 8) This series of test
includes that the institutions must have a positive overall account balance of the participant s sub
accounts with the CLS, a short position limit in any one currency, and aggregate shore positions.
(Swiss National Bank p. 8) The first factor of the test of an overall positive account balance is the
most important quota to meet for the CLS. By having a positive balance the institution is showing the
CLS that they have outstanding credit and will be able to make payments when they make a deal or
transaction through the CLS. By safeguarding the credit of institutions applying to be members of the
group the CLS are lowering the percentages and allowance for risk knowing that at the time of
admittance the pursuing member was in good credit and showed no signs of not being able to pay their
transactions. The second risk management of short position limits helps to ensure that institutions will
not run into liquidity problems. Each member of the group is allowed an identical limit per currency.
By creating these limits the CLS are trying to lower the risk and keep a fair and stable market. If one
currency takes a major dive it will not have such a large effect on a members liquidity as

The Impact Of Poor Nutrition On The Student S Achievements.
The Impact of Poor Nutrition On the Student s Achievements
Abstract
Chapter1: Introduction
The ability of the students in the schools to learn is being hindered by foods that are widely available
in the schools which have affected the academic performance. The state of boards in the schools have
been in a mission to improve the education systems in schools which in return will improve the
academic performance of the students. To achieve this, they have to find the reasons as to why the
students do not perform well or the things that hinder the performance of the students in schools. One
of the areas that should be looked at is the kind of nutritional substances that are eaten by most of the
school going children. There are national and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These programs have been of great benefit to the students because their school attendance has
improved and their academic performance have improved. Poor nutrition in students does not only
affect their academic performance but also affects their social skills, cognitive development, learning
and social behavior. However, there are some steps of actions that can be taken that will help to solve
the problem of poor nutrition in schools. Some of this action may involve central themes including
creativity, collaboration, and patience. Fixing the issue of poor nutrition among students will also help
in tacking the health constituents that majority of the students suffer from such as obesity,
undernourishment, and even eating disorders which have raised concern in the United States of
America.
The issue of providing students from low income families with nutritious meals has been debated for
many years. As from the period of the Great Depression some schools started to offer their students
with lunch and this had two major goals. The first goal of the school lunch program was to ensure that
students from low income families did not have poor nutrition by giving them meals with nutritional
benefits. On the other hand, the second goal of the school lunch program was to make good use of the
surplus agricultural commodities that the government had bought from

Founded as Magdalen Hall The Bishop of Winchester, William of Wayflete founded the forerunner to
the college Magdalen Hall in 1448 on the High Street. The good bishop was a leading educational
reformer of the day, with a passion for Renaissance ideas and had, by this time, already helped to
establish schools to promote his new views. He had also been Provost of Eton: one of England s
leading and most influential schools. Wayflete s ambition, wealth and connections with Henry VI
enabled him to acquire the nearby site of an old tumble down hospital, sitting on vast tracts of land
just outside the city walls. It was here, the present site, that Magdalen became a proper college in
1458. Wayflete made use of some of the existing buildings, as a temporary arrangement, until his
grand, purpose built college was complete. However the inherited chapel and hospital hall remained in
use and traces still survive to this today. May morning song The pronunciation of the college name is
Maudlin and special reference was made to this in the original statutes. The name honours Mary
Magdalen who is said to have undergone a spiritual transformation after meeting Christ in Galilee.

boys drawn from the associated school. This choral tradition continues to this day and includes the

The Shareholders Of Aspen Pharmacare Holdings Ltd
Earnings per share (also called net income per share) is a ratio that measures net income earned per
share of stock outstanding, and is the money each share of stock would receive if all of the profits
were distributed to the outstanding shares at year end. The higher the EPS, the better the business is as
an investment from a shareholders perspective. EPS could be due to an increase in profit or a decrease
in the number of shares in issue, which causes the return for each share to be higher.
Application:
Earnings per Share serve as an indicator of a company s profitability. The EPS increased 325 cents
from 773 cents in 2013 to 1098 cents in 2014. The company s profitability increased by 42% in 2014,
which is a great improvement from 2013. Profits increased from R3 514 100 000 in 2013 to R5 005
500 000 in 2014, and this played a big role in causing the EPS to increase by 42%. The shareholders
of Aspen Pharmacare Holdings Ltd should be satisfied as the current year (2014) EPS was higher than
usual, and a higher earnings per share ratio often makes the stock price of a company rise.

organization/university or he/she has to generate it by himself/herself. In both cases defining the
research question is of major importance for the success of the research project. In this short overview
we focus on the significance of research questions when one has to generate the idea and topic of a
research project individually. The goal of this short paper is to show, why a clear research question is
important for successful research and for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strong hypotheses give insight into a research question and give a hint on what we will find when we
answer the research question. A hypothesis gives therefore an a priori answer to the research question.
Punch (1998) makes the following connection between hypothesis and research question: A specific
research question states what we are trying to find out. The hypothesis predicts, a priori, the answer to
that question. Punch (1998) suggest that we do not need a hypothesis in any case. It only makes sense
when we have an explanation in mind behind the hypothesis. A further question we should ask is what
answer we expect and why. If we expect a certain answer only because previous research has found it
to be true, we do not need to propose a hypothesis. To summarize and find out whether a hypothesis is
reasonable one can follow figure 1.
Is a hypothesis reasonable? Do you have an explanation in mind for the question?
Yes
Is the expected answer predictable?
Yes
Is the answer predictable due to previous research?
No
It is suggested to formulate a hypothesis

Guns N Roses Research Paper
Music has been evolving for hundreds of years, leading to major breakthroughs starting in the late
1950s, early 1960s. There are many different types of music genres, which all have different sounds.
We have the blues, folk music, classical, country, hip hop, pop, reggae, and rock and roll. Rock and
roll has continued to grow since the 1950s. Some of the most iconic music comes from the 1980s,
especially from the hair bands. Guns N Roses, a one of the most popular rock and roll bands ever,
produced some of the best rock and roll the world has seen. Back in 1985, two local bands from Los
Angeles, California, combined to make Guns N Roses. Axl Rose manned one of the bands, Hollywood
Rose, and Tracii Guns manned the other band, L.A. Guns. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Duff McKagen had his connections in the Seattle area, so he booked them some gigs. However, their
first gig did not go as plan, starting from the drive from their home base in Los Angeles. While driving
on Interstate 5, their van broke down, leading them to hitchhike the rest of the way to Seattle. Their
first gig with The Flashbacks was only seen by 13 people and did not get the original $250 they were
promised; instead they received $50 due to the poor turnout. After this gig, they returned back to the
Hell House, their home on Sunset Blvd. and began to rehearse. The rest of their set tour of Seattle was
cancelled. The little money Guns N Roses originally made caused them to live on cheap wine and

Level 2: Secondary health care

Inpatient nursing homecare
One of the key differences between the US health system and Cuba health system is that Cuba focuses
on preventing diseases rather than treating the diseases. And everyone will be having family physician
and nurses. For the Cuba health system there are no private hospitals, all hospitals and clinics are
controlled by the government and people are given access to the system without any cost. Every
patient are visited by the family physician at home once in a year, one with chronic disease will be
visited frequently. If it is necessary patients are referred for specialty evaluation, but after the
evaluation they will come back to the community team for ongoing treatment.
This prevention orientation structure has produced positive result for the Cuba. Vaccination rates in
Cuba is the highest in world. The infant mortality rate fallen from 80 per 1000 live births to 5 per
1000, lower than US.

Essay Comparing Macbeth And Benazir Bhutto
Despite both Macbeth, a Scottish war hero, and Benazir Bhutto, the first Muslim women Prime
Ministers, intentions to better their causes, they were driven by different values and motives.Macbeth
acted out of personal interests, all the while being completely oblivious to his own destruction
whereas Bhutto took notice when she needed to step back from immediate obligations to regather
herself. Macbeth initially valued his King and country and therefore was bestowed the title of Thane
of Cawdor. However, after getting a slight taste of power, Macbeth was overcome by power and his
treacherous crimes of killing copious amounts of people ultimately lead to the suspicions of his fellow
peers. On the contrary, Benazir Bhutto became a prominent political figure through means of honesty
and sincere methods. Her insight was to benefit the citizens of Pakistan and held modernize a country
stuck in traditional ways whereas Macbeth s insight came from initial loyalty to his king, soon colored
by greed which he then committed the ultimate sin of killing innocents. On the other hand, Bhutto was

idea of taking on problems himself, he needed a strong woman behind to lead to his initial success.
However, as a leading women figure in middle eastern society, Bhutto was able to rise above her
stereotypical typical role as a woman and become known as hard, structured Iron Lady without the
help from a background person. This proves to be her one of her strong points whereas for Macbeth,
depending on himself is his fatal

The Billy Joel
Billy Joel is one of the best selling solo artists of all time in the United States. Amongst his most
popular songs are Piano Man, We Didn t Start the Fire and She s Always a Woman, all with good
reason. Having written a plethora of memorable songs that could easily be added to the soundtrack of
our lives, Billy Joel s undoubtedly one of the most talented musicians and songwriters of all time.
The musical legend was born William Martin Joel on May 9, 1949 to Howard and Rosalind Joel. He
grew up in the suburb of Hicksville, New York, in a rather musical home. His father was a classically
trained pianist while his mother would sing along to songs. Billy tried his luck with the piano too,
pounding on the keys at a very young age until his mother took him to take piano lessons at age 4. It
wasn t long before he took to it, and eventually he became so skilled that he could have been
considered a professional by the time he was a teenager.
Billy Joel joined a total of 3 bands before becoming a solo artist. The first group he joined was called
the Echoes, a cover band that quickly gained popularity and would later be known as the Lost Souls.
While enjoying the success of his first band, Billy Joel saw the Beatles iconic performance on the Ed
Sullivan Show and was inspired to pursue a career as a professional musician. As a result, he dropped
out of high school at age 17 and devoted his life to a musical career.
After leaving the Echoes, Joel would would go on to join two

Taming Of The Shrew Play Vs Play
However, even if it is clear that Shakespeare was not the patriarchal bard, The Taming of The Shrew is
quite unsatisfying compared to his other great pieces of work. As I mentioned, the original version of
the play does not include closing segment with Sly, and leaving a wonder about the play s
completeness. Still, The Taming of The Shrew is an important piece of work which brings out the
comedic side of Shakespeare where irony and puns carry the play throughout. Also, as a comedy, this
play truly brings us laughter receiving a great value as a comedy
The Roaring Girl written by Thomas Dekker and Thomas Middleton is another Renaissance comedy
about women and marriage. As a contemporary play, it is interesting to analyse the play compared

Question: Does prayer before an athletic competition affect the overall performance of the athlete?
Introduction
In today s society prayer has been a pivotal part of many athletes lives. The rituals before a
competition can often make or break a quality performance for that athlete. While interning with
Fordham University Athletics, I had the opportunity to interact with an array of athletes. Watching
these different athletes participate in their pre game rituals has sparked my interest in this research
topic. Does prayer before an athletic competition affect the overall performance of the athlete? In this
study, I attempt to investigate the relationship between religion and prayer and an athletic competitor.
Does prayer result in an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In researching this topic, one very significant academic work, The Use of Prayer in Sport:
Implications for Sport Psychology Consulting by Nick J. Watson and Daniel R. Czech (2005) explores
the new found importance of religion and spirituality in sports, and how the public interprets and
observes an athletes religious rituals. As both Watson and Czech (2005) are sport psychologists, their
research examines the importance of religion, its effect on an athlete s psychological state, as well as
the affect it has on athlete s overall performance in competition.
Watson and Czech (2005) first define religion and spirituality so as the reader can fully understand
what the author s writing and research findings mean. The terms religion, spirituality, and prayer, can
have different meanings amongst different cultures, so it is important the reader has concrete
definitions in mind prior to reading the article. The authors define religion as . . . a system of beliefs in
divine or superhuman power, and practices of worship or other rituals directed toward such a power
(p.2). This for example is Christianity, Judaism, and Buddhism. The definition of spirituality is much
broader and can be defined from a religious or humanist perspective, where personal meaning is
derived from whatever people believe to be ultimate, and valued in and of itself (p.2). The focus of
their research article is prayer in sport

Accuracy of Bayley Scores as Outcome Measures in Trials of...
Introduction
Long term follow up of high risk preterm infants has become increasingly important as the proportion
of infants surviving has increased steadily over the past several decades. It is well known that these
infants are at increased risk of cognitive impairment. (Class) With this increase in at risk survivors,
many clinical research questions arise that can only be answered by long term follow up studies.
(Vohr, Teune) Clinical trials that examine common perinatal therapies should also include a long term
follow up component in their research to examine later neurodevelopmental outcomes in their cohorts.
Although there is no prescribed protocol dictating which specific neurodevelopmental tests are to be
completed during follow up, the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development and all its
revisions, is the most widely used test to assess neurodevelopment of very preterm infants in the first
three years of life (Luttikhuizen) and is a common outcome measure used in clinical research trials.
Standardized developmental assessments such as the Bayley that are used in a pediatric clinical trial
setting as primary outcome measures need to be reliably administered and scored. Trained test
administrators and scorers are generally careful that the tests they are administering are conducted and
scored correctly. However, given the range of numerical calculations and transcriptions required in
scoring the results of these tests, there is always a chance that errors

Research Paper On Calendar Spread Strategies
Spread trading is a trading strategy which trades on the spread between the two contracts. The
contracts can be for the same or different commodity, same or different contract maturity, and same or
different exchanges cite[pp.~1 24]{schap2005complete}. A calendar spread is one of these spread
strategies where the investor utilises the spread between the two contracts with a different delivery
date, but the same underlying commodity. The performance of the calendar spread strategy is
compared with the long future contract and spot position strategies. The commodity benchmark index
is also introduced which provides the comparison of the performance of the three strategies against the
commodity index.
subsubsection{Calendar Spreads}
A calendar spread or the intra market spread is a portfolio strategy where two future contracts are
simultaneously bought and sold for the same asset, but with different expiration dates cite[pp.~63 77]

naturally a fully hedged strategy. This characteristic of the strategy has attracted financial investors

Two calendar spread strategies are considered which are constructed by using four future contracts.
The contract one is defined as the contract for the commodity for the earliest delivery date. The
contract two to four are defined as contracts for successive delivery months for the same commodity
cite{NYMEX}. So Spread(4,2) is constructed by selling the contract two and buying the contract
four. The Spread(3,1) is constructed by selling the contract one and buying the contract three. It is
assumed in the thesis that the investor purchased the calendar spread strategy which implies that the
investor sold the nearby future contract and bought the deferred future contract of the same

Obtaining Motion Blur Parameters Form The Frequency Spectrum Obtaining Motion Blur Parameters Form The Frequency Spectrum Fourier transform is applied on digital images to interprets their content in terms frequency information. To illustrate, Flat areas, where the intensity is slowly changing, result in low frequencies. Rough areas, on the other hand, result in high frequencies because of the dramatic change in the intensity value. this paper discusses the impact of manipulating the frequency information of digital images and how the frequency spectrum can be used to address a real world situation. Filtering an image in the frequency domain is usually composed of three steps. First, the Fourier transform is calculated (DCT or DFT). Then, a certain operation is performed on the frequencies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Huei and Kun [2] proposed that the speed of moving objects in a single image can be estimated using the blur parameters, the camera parameters and imaging geometry. To illustrate, the displacement of a moving object (d) can be determined using similar triangles according to the blur length (k) Figure2. And by knowing the shutter speed of the camera (T), the speed of the object is v =d/T(1). Since this paper is concerned with Fourier Transform, the details of equation (1) are omitted and calculating the blur parameter is detailed below. The blur parameters, including the blurs direction and length, can be determined by examining their impact on the Fourier spectrum. As shown in figure, the Fourier spectrum of the motion blur contains strips of dark lines that are parallel and uniformly separated. Note that the Fourier spectrum depends on the objects orientation; so the direction of the motion blur could be extracted from the frequency spectrum. Also, as the blurs length increase, the edges get smoother, resulting in lower frequency response. These observations suggest that the frequency spectrum has all the needed information to determine the blurs parameters. In particular, the object shown in the figure is moving along the horizontal axis, and this caused the vertical orientation of the dark lines in the frequency spectrum. Furthermore, increasing the blurs length, which can be achieved by increasing the object s speed, lessens the distance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Attachment Theory Essay The Attachment Theory The attachment theory talks about the early significance and developments of attachment between infants and their mothers. Attachment can be defined as intense, emotional ties to specific people. The attachment process can be divided into pre attachment, discriminate and indiscriminate and multiple attachment phases. The development of specific attachment is shown through separation anxiety. The most influential versions of this approach was probably that of Sigmund Freud, who believed that the infants upset at the mothers absence is based on the crass fear that bodily needs would now go unsatisfied. The British psychiatrist john bowlby called this the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The strange situation is used to classify the baby s basic attachment to the mother into three main types: anxious avoidant, securely attached and anxious resistant. The crucial feature determining the quality of attachment is the mother s sensitivity. Bolwby suggest that such a built in fear of the unfamiliar has a simple survival value. Infants who lack it are more likely to stray away from their mothers and will be more likely to go and perish. Bolwby suggest that the first five years of life are crucial to the Child s later development. He highlighted four majors systems in infant behavior, whereby he stated that children use all four of these systems in their interaction with their environment and the people around them. He stated what is known as the continuity hypothesis, which is the idea that a damaged infancy leads to the idea of a damaged childhood which in turn leads to a damaged adulthood. Infants who do not have any sort of attachments whatsoever could have some everlasting effects on their adulthood. Researcher s tizard and Hodges 1978 concluded from their research that children may be deprived of their opportunity to form personal attachments if they are raised in an institution. Also, there is evidence that disruption in the family home during childhood could affect how the parents interact with their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. King Tut s Death Mask And The Statues Of Rameses Once towering, but now slowly crumbling pyramids grace the horizon, bejeweled and dusty royal mummies lay buried and forgotten by the sands of time, and mysterious and often strangely heroic murals intertwined with a scattering of hieroglyphics sprawl across the walls of tombs and temples alike. These are the only evidence left of a once vast empire that is rapidly falling into disrepair as its already decrepit state grows worse. However, the current state of ancient Egypt does not curb the curiosity of adventure seekers looking to peek into a diminished era; today, a multitude of onlookers wander through the glorious yet now empty tombs that once held ancient Egypt s elite. Millions more in museums around the world peer through the glass enclosing the precious jewels, fragmented pottery and statues, and frayed and often threadbare garments that before adorned peasant and monarch alike. Nevertheless, it is the fascinating intricacies and myths surrounding pieces such as King Tut s death mask and the statues of Rameses the Great that still grip one with awe and leave lingering unanswered questions behind. What was Egypt like during the reign of each of these age old monarchs? Even more so, what traits and morals did each hold that wove legacies characterized with such vivid larger than life personas of each, yet above all else, how could one pharaoh inscribe his story in our hearts as to ensure an enduring image even after his death? Few parades are more iconic than the Mardi Gras parades of New Orleans. Many may view Mardi Gras as simply a giant parade of debauchery centering around revelry, alcohol, bead throwing and an excuse to bare skin. However, there are also those who do not know that there are many parades rather than one Mardi Gras Parade. These parades are deeply rooted in the history and society of New Orleans and its residents. These Parades are celebrations leading up to Mardi Gras (translated to Fat Tuesday from the French) which marks the beginning of the Christian Lent period. Lent involves fasting (with much of the focus on the abstinence of meat consumption,) but Mardi Gras parade roots herald back to ancient Rome. • 6. The Trial And Death Of Socrates Analysis In order to leave a memorable past, you have to learn how to stand tall for what you believe in. Anyone who can be easily persuaded is not someone who cares to be remembered. The ones who are always remembered are the ones who didn t follow the rest of the crowd. In the Trial and Death of Socrates, Socrates was brought up on false chargers and was still able to hold his stance. For Socrates he thought he would think logically instead of like the others. However, at that point it was frowned upon to think a different way. Socrates tries to use his own ideology and make others see from his point of view. When he is put on trial, he uses good arguments to defend himself. For example, when Meletus says that majority improve the young while the minority corrupt it, but Socrates brings up a great point with horses and other animals. While with animals the minority improve and the majority corrupt. • 7. How Did The Fur Trade Affect The Cree Indian Culture In the 1800s the fur trade had a great impact on the lifestyle of the Cree Indians, both economically and culturally. The fur trade helped the Natives make an income and obtain goods they could not get before. However great the impact of the fur trading was on their economy, the decline in fur bearing animals had a devastating effect on their culture. It can therefore be said that although the fur trade had a positive short term impact on the Cree Indian s economy, in the long term, the cultural ways of living that were adapted and lost impacted them negatively. Early contact of the Europeans with the Cree allowed for the establishment of trading patterns. Europeans discovered that the soft fur was ideal for processing into felt to decorate ... In addition to all that was brought from the Europeans through the fur trade, the introduction to different farming and hunting manners led them to alter their own way of life (Vance). The connection that was established between the Cree and the Europeans impacted where the Cree decided to live and even how they exploited the resources on which the trade and their survival was founded (Carlos, Lewis). This is important because it demonstrates how the fur trade altered the Cree s lifestyle. This led to the Cree s slowly forgetting how to hunt for their own food in their own ways. Education is an extremely powerful object that you need to use carefully. In other words supply the student with the correct and fact based answer rather than an answer that you think is correct. In America a good education is the difference between working at Walmart, and being a computer programer at Google. A good education is one that has these qualities, it is enticing to the student, it prepares the student for the world to come, and provides the student with facts that they can make their own opinions on. • 10. The Problem Of Fraud And Its Effects On Society Enlightenment thinker Giacomo Leopardi claims that [t]he combative spirit...derives from the folly of human beings who will not accept the circumstances of life (Leopardi). In a society where people value success over dignity, this lack of acceptance leads to the callous deception that causes so much suffering today. This deception, found in contract fraud, means that the one soliciting a contract benefits more than the one who signs it when the terms of the agreement are manipulated. Fraud has become one of the top three causes of bankruptcy in America, along with medical bills and job loss ( Top ). In fact, a 2015 study by the Federal Trade Commission found that 25.6 million people had agreed to a fraudulent contract that year because they were not clearly given all of the terms (Ramirez). The manipulation of contracts to gain an advantage in society implements precaution that undermines trust and ultimately leads to increasingly apathetic individuals. People exploit contract fraud to gain an advantage over others in our competitive society. People who commit contract fraud consent to do whatever it takes to become their definition of successful , regardless of the innocent people that suffer as a consequence. This could also come in the form of a misrepresentation of services. An anonymous survey conducted by Harvard University found that 52% of people surveyed lied on their resume to gain their desired job (Badaracco and Useem). A resume is like a promise that one ... • 11. Electron Distribution Using Peas Lab The labs I chose were Electron Distribution using Peas, Mendeleev for a Day, and Flame Tests. I chose these labs because they helped me realize how electrons work and why the periodic table is set up the way it is. It also helped me see how electrons work in the atoms of the periodic table. The Electron Distribution using Peas lab helped me understand how the electrons are placed in levels based on their energy. For this lab, we had to make a target and put peas into a funnel. After that, we let the peas go and saw what happened. The peas represented the electrons and the parts of the target were the different energy levels of an atom. The levels allow the electrons to keep moving up once they are full. After this is known, then we can put that information into an electron configuration. There is not an exact path as to where the electrons are supposed to go, so where the peas landed showed us the different regions of high and low density. Also in this lab, the quantum mechanical model shows that there is not a set spot as to how the electrons are going to go. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mendeleev knew that there would be elements that would fill the entire table, but they were not yet discovered, so he left their spots blank. He organized the table by their increasing atomic mass. Once we completed our objectives for the lab, we were to group the solutions with similar characteristics like Mendeleev did when he was organizing his table. Unlike Mendeleev, we did not group ours with atomic mass. The periodic table tells us what the atomic mass of an atom is. The periodic table is shaped the way it is because of its properties of the elements. Mendeleev predicted what the properties were, whereas, we saw the changes and grouped by that. Sometimes, even for a small pressure washer, you may expect to spend $150 more for a small gas powered pressure washer. This combined with the fact you have to buy detergents, gas, oil, and other things makes some people choose to go with the electric powered pressure washers. The problem with the extra price is mostly based on the fact that you may spend $250 on a gas powered pressure washer or spend $100 on an electric pressure washer and end up with about the same PSI. To coincide with the best practice procedures the CLS have set up a number of risk management procedures for its members and the procedures to become a member. Every instruction must go through various tests before it is accepted by the CLS. (Swiss National Bank p. 8) This series of test includes that the institutions must have a positive overall account balance of the participant s sub accounts with the CLS, a short position limit in any one currency, and aggregate shore positions. (Swiss National Bank p. 8) The first factor of the test of an overall positive account balance is the most important quota to meet for the CLS. By having a positive balance the institution is showing the CLS that they have outstanding credit and will be able to make payments when they make a deal or transaction through the CLS. By safeguarding the credit of institutions applying to be members of the group the CLS are lowering the percentages and allowance for risk knowing that at the time of admittance the pursuing member was in good credit and showed no signs of not being able to pay their transactions. The second risk management of short position limits helps to ensure that institutions will not run into liquidity problems. Each member of the group is allowed an identical limit per currency. By creating these limits the CLS are trying to lower the risk and keep a fair and stable market. If one currency takes a major dive it will not have such a large effect on a members liquidity as ... The state of boards in the schools have been in a mission to improve the education systems in schools which in return will improve the academic performance of the students. To achieve this, they have to find the reasons as to why the students do not perform well or the things that hinder the performance of the students in schools. Some of this action may involve central themes including creativity, collaboration, and patience. Fixing the issue of poor nutrition among students will also help in tacking the health constituents that majority of the students suffer from such as obesity, undernourishment, and even eating disorders which have raised concern in the United States of America. The issue of providing students from low income families with nutritious meals has been debated for many years. As from the period of the Great Depression some schools started to offer their students with lunch and this had two major goals. The first goal of the school lunch program was to ensure that students from low income families did not have poor nutrition by giving them meals with nutritional benefits. Founded as Magdalen Hall The Bishop of Winchester, William of Wayflete founded the forerunner to the college Magdalen Hall in 1448 on the High Street. The good bishop was a leading educational reformer of the day, with a passion for Renaissance ideas and had, by this time, already helped to establish schools to promote his new views. He had also been Provost of Eton: one of England s leading and most influential schools. Wayflete s ambition, wealth and connections with Henry VI enabled him to acquire the nearby site of an old tumble down hospital, sitting on vast tracts of land just outside the city walls. It was here, the present site, that Magdalen became a proper college in 1458. Wayflete made use of some of the existing buildings, as a temporary arrangement, until his grand, purpose built college was complete. Introduction In a research project the researcher is either provided with a research idea by an organization/university or he/she has to generate it by himself/herself. In both cases defining the research question is of major importance for the success of the research project. In this short overview we focus on the significance of research questions when one has to generate the idea and topic of a research project individually. Strong hypotheses give insight into a research question and give a hint on what we will find when we answer the research question. A hypothesis gives therefore an a priori answer to the research question. Punch (1998) makes the following connection between hypothesis and research question: A specific research question states what we are trying to find out. The hypothesis predicts, a priori, the answer to that question. Punch (1998) suggest that we do not need a hypothesis in any case. It only makes sense when we have an explanation in mind behind the hypothesis. A further question we should ask is what answer we expect and why. If we expect a certain answer only because previous research has found it to be true, we do not need to propose a hypothesis. To summarize and find out whether a hypothesis is reasonable one can follow figure 1. Is a hypothesis reasonable? Do you have an explanation in mind for the question? Yes Is the expected answer predictable? Yes Is the answer predictable due to previous research? No It is suggested to formulate a hypothesis Figure 1: Decision scheme to decide whether a hypothesis is necessary for a research project (based on Punch, 1998)

Czech (2005) explores the new found importance of religion and spirituality in sports, and how the public interprets and observes an athletes religious rituals. As both Watson and Czech (2005) are sport psychologists, their research examines the importance of religion, its effect on an athlete s psychological state, as well as the affect it has on athlete s overall performance in competition. Watson and Czech (2005) first define religion and spirituality so as the reader can fully understand what the author s writing and research findings mean. The terms religion, spirituality, and prayer, can have different meanings amongst different cultures, so it is important the reader has concrete definitions in mind prior to reading the article. The authors define religion as . . . a system of beliefs in divine or superhuman power, and practices of worship or other rituals directed toward such a power (p.2). This for example is Christianity, Judaism, and Buddhism. The definition of spirituality is much broader and can be defined from a religious or humanist perspective, where personal meaning is derived from whatever people believe to be ultimate, and valued in and of itself (p.2). • 31. Accuracy of Bayley Scores as Outcome Measures in Trials of... Introduction Long term follow up of high risk preterm infants has become increasingly important as the proportion of infants surviving has increased steadily over the past several decades. It is well known that these infants are at increased risk of cognitive impairment. (Class) With this increase in at risk survivors, many clinical research questions arise that can only be answered by long term follow up studies. (Vohr, Teune) Clinical trials that examine common perinatal therapies should also include a long term follow up component in their research to examine later neurodevelopmental outcomes in their cohorts. Although there is no prescribed protocol dictating which specific neurodevelopmental tests are to be completed during follow up, the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development and all its revisions, is the most widely used test to assess neurodevelopment of very preterm infants in the first three years of life (Luttikhuizen) and is a common outcome measure used in clinical research trials. Standardized developmental assessments such as the Bayley that are used in a pediatric clinical trial setting as primary outcome measures need to be reliably administered and scored. Trained test administrators and scorers are generally careful that the tests they are administering are conducted and scored correctly. However, given the range of numerical calculations and transcriptions required in scoring the results of these tests, there is always a chance that errors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
