Gender Schema Theory
My first research showcase presentation was Gender Differences in Physical Activity Levels and
presenters were Petrona Gregoria, Britanny Whetsel, Dora Pena, Cassidy Heidt. Their hypothesis was
boys would have higher level of physical activities than girls. They came up with this hypothesis
because obesity level in the U.S. is increasingly among young children. The Gender Schema Theory
suggests a view of how each gender should act, what is expected and accepted of their gender.
Researchers observed the children and after they observed them, they did an independent t test. The
method was clearly described. They had 32 participants (50% boys) between ages 3 4, were observed
through a one way window at an on campus daycare center. Measures were, ... Show more content on

outcomes increase; including jaundice, low birth weight, shorter birth length, and increase risk of
staying in the NICU. They came up with this hypothesis because the Latino population known to have
health adversities, including obesity, in comparison to their non Latino white counterpart. The method
was clearly described. Participants were 18 Mexican American postpartum mother of singletons
selected from longitudinal study. Their measure was infant outcomes such as birth weight, birth
length, gestational age, jaundice, and NICU stay were obtained through self reports completed at an in
home visit at birth. Researchers was collected saliva from infants between 3 to 28 days after birth with
Salimetrics infant swabs. They run appropriate statistical analyses; regression for nominal variables
and t test for categorical variables because variables were nominal and categorical. The result was
salivary infant CRP levels were not related to adverse birth and infant health outcomes in the Latino
populations. My question was, what was the purpose of this research? Their answer was that they
wanted to prevent measures that affects infants in

Enterprise Mobility Improves The Time, Content, And Form...
Enterprise mobility improves the time, content, and form dimensions of information quality.
Since each dimension is improved, the resulting overall quality of information generated by an
organizational information system that utilizes enterprise mobility is also improved.
Improved Information Accessibility
Enterprise mobility enables improvements in information accessibility. The degree of improvement is
directly dependent upon the mobile hardware and communications equipment in use. The degree of
information accessibility required which defines the hardware and communications requirements is
determined by the business needs that are driving the enterprise mobility application. Enterprise
mobility technology (hardware, software, and communications) provides a wide range of options that
can be mixed and matched to fit the needs of each individual enterprise mobility application.
The improvements in information accessibility enabled by enterprise mobility result in improved
information flow both to and from the central fixed information system. The mobile computer enables
quick and efficient information retrieval from the central information system. The ability to access
central information and make fixed or ad hoc queries of corporate databases enables employees to get
the information they need to complete the job. The mobile computer also enables transmission of
current operational data, in native digital format, from the mobile user to the central fixed information

The Virus Is Contagious And Mutate
The ASF virus is highly contagious and spreads rapidly in pig populations through direct and indirect
contact. This virus can persist for long periods in pig products and the environment, and may be
endemic in feral or wild suids and in Ornithodoros ticks. Isolates of ASFV vary in virulence; some
strains are highly pathogenic, resulting in almost 100% mortality while others are low virulence or
asymptomatic isolates that can be difficult to diagnose [1].
1.1.1 History
Discovery of the disease
Notable epidemics/epizootics/outbreaks of this disease
Historical mortality
Once endemic in the Iberian Peninsula, ASFV was successfully eradicated from the European Union
(EU) at the end of the 1990s after a prolonged 30 year effort. The ... Show more content on

Even North American swine herds are at elevated risk of accidental or deliberate ASFV introduction
from its widespread occurrence in Eastern Europe. Unlike most trans boundary viral infections, there
is no vaccine available against ASFV. Consequently, detection and elimination of infected animals
(surveillance) combined with quarantine, pig movement controls and high herd bio security are the
only methods to control and eradicate ASF [3]. This approach is costly and often prohibitively
expensive for food insecure and developing countries affected by the disease, increasing the
probability of ASF becoming endemic in those regions. African swine fever virus control is further
complicated by its complex ecology and transmission epidemiology. In addition to infection by direct
and indirect (fomite) contact among confined domestic swine, wild suids, and feral domestic hogs,
soft bodied ticks (Genus Ornithodoros) can transmit ASF and serve as virus reservoirs. Many wild
boars in Russia and the Caucasus have been infected by ASF since 2007, and there is evidence that
some pigs may become carriers [4] The Ornithodoros tick vector is also present in this region.
However, the roles played by wild boars, feral swine and tick vectors in ASFV eco epidemiology and
transmission in the Caucasus are unknown at this time. Humans are not

Radioactive Boy Scout By David Hahn
Introduction The book Radioactive Boy Scout is a true story about a boy named David Hahn that
attended a Michigan high school. His goal was to set out and build a fast breeder reactor in his garden
shed. He educated himself in these things by reading popular mechanics and the golden book of
chemistry experiments. Whatever he could not get from laboratory suppliers, universities, hospitals,
and nuclear agencies, he made himself. David collected household smoke detectors and extracted
americium 24. He also got assembled gas mantle covers and pulverized them to get radioactive
thorium and took the Geiger counter in to an antique shop where he found a clock with a phial of
radium paint left in it. With a little bit of things he had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
David would go through medicine chest, and cabinets and gather things together like; toothpaste, soap,
medicine, cram, nail polish remover, and rubbing alcohol. He would mix everything together into a
metal bowl and stir all the contents together in an ashtray, after stirring all the things together he
realized all he had was a lifeless gray blob. So of course he added more things to it and eventually
caused the products to boil over and so David flushed them down the toilet.
Key Idea 2
David was so into science that he had no time for any other activities. Is dad tried to get him into
activities, but David never seemed interested. As David got older he tried many new things with these
things that became a lot more dangerous than just the things he was getting from the medicine
cabinets. David had a shed he worked all his experiments in that could explode. He would also work
at the side of his pool or in his room. David became in the boy scouts where he learned a lot of new
things about his experiments. He pursued in getting the atomic energy merit badge. As a final set of
tasks, David built a Geiger counter from a kit, he visited a hospital radiology unit to learn about the
medical uses of radioisotopes, constructed a model nuclear reactor. The model was built out of a juice
can, plastic pill bottles, coat hangers, soda straws, kitchen matches, and rubber bands. David s Boy
Scout education really influenced his nuclear dreams. David was finally

Portrayal Analysis Of Old Spice
Old spice is a very important brand for men, but not many people would know that Old Spice was
originally made for women. Until little before Christmas time of 1937 Shulton Company sales were
doing well and figured they could do better by transitioning into men products which began the Old
Spice we know today. Over the years the company grew into selling shaving soap, aftershave lotion,
shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body wash and body sprays leading to high selling products and
manly ads that changed the advertisement game.
Most ads use high movie stars or athletes to grab people s attention for their product. Old Spice is one
of the few who doesn t just depend on their voice but their physical features to grab everyone s
attention. Men like Terry Cruz, Ray Lewis, and Isaiah Mustafa with muscles and a 6 pack to make the
ladies go crazy. Putting them on an ad grabs the female s attention whether they have a man or not,
they want their boyfriend or husband to be like them. Buying that product that Isaiah Mustafa was in
is bond to make their man become somewhat like him especially if Isaiah tells you to become the man
that he is.
In the ad that Isaiah Mustafa is featured in, you can see a white soap bubble made motorcycle in a bath
tub with Isaiah having long bubble hair with a manly mustache, wearing only a vest to show his abs.
There is a pretty looking female looking up to him with awe and wonder clearly attracted to him by
her body tones. Isaiah is holding a red Old

Mount Everest Climbers
Mount Everest is the biggest mountain in the world, and because of that attracts many climbers to try
and climb all 29,029 feet of it, but think about all the trash they leave behind while climbing. In 2013
4,000 people have reached Everest s summit, with many more attempting to. Mount Everest has a
natural beauty, one that should be preserved, and people climbing the mountain and leaving their
garbage on it is ruining it. Climbers have a negative impact on Mount Everest, and while journeying to
the top, they are slowly destroying the mountain. First of all, the short article The World s Highest
Mountain describes what Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay experienced and felt as they
climbed Mount Everest and it shows the efforts that they made afterwards to help preserve and keep
the mountain safe from the dangers of climbers. For instance, the text states that Hillary was also
deeply concerned about the environment. He helped establish reforestation programs in Nepal. He also
demanded that mountain climbers clean up the garbage that often got left behind on Mount Everest
materials like used oxygen bottles, which climbers would discard because of their weight (Source #1
7). This shows that Sir Edmund HIllary and Tenzing Norgay understand how much trash climbers
leave behind when climbing Mount Everest because they went on that climb and probably left some
garbage on the mountain. Additionally, it allows the audience to see that climbing the mountain means
leaving trash, and since Hillary understands this from his own climb, he is demanding people pick up
their garbage. For example, paragraph 4 of The World s Highest Mountain it says that The goal Hillary
and Norgay set for themselves wasn t easy. The pair encountered difficult challenges on the way to the
summit, such as narrow ridges and 10,000 foot drops off the mountain. Hillary and Norgay s
experience on the mountain proves to us just how difficult it is to climb Mount Everest. Because it is
so difficult to climb Mount, you wouldn t want to have to carry your garbage up and back down the
mountain, it is easier to leave it on the mountain and that is what most people do. Therefore, because
of the difficulties climbers face when climbing the

showroom. Six years ago Mr. Jones sold the current Deli lot to Duncan and also offered Lot 51 for

fair amount of budget and wants to buy Lot 51 so as to provide parking space for his customers. I

fair agreement. The negotiation between Dan and David is elaborated. This paper will discuss various
factors that contribute to a successful negotiation. Following which it will emphasize on the skills
required to become a good negotiator. Lastly, an outcome of insights gained and their importance is
postulated. I greeted Dan and we started to speak about the relationship I had with Mr. Frank Jones
and how he was a good man. Then the topic smoothly shifted to the market value of the land near the
Elm Street area. We were soon discussing about Lot 51 and I quoted a price of 6,500 dollars. Dan
showed some disappointment with the price and explained how the market value of the land raised by
10% in six years. From his talking I could understand that he was expecting a more profitable price. In
an amiable way I asked Dan of how much he was expecting for Lot 51. Instantly, he quoted 8000

story Africa Kills Her Sun . Having sided with the minority Ogoni within his homeland of Nigeria, his
protests and resistance against the dictatorship of General Sani Abacha led to his imminent execution.
Within this particular short story, though, he wrote the character Bana as one who sees his acts of

reader to question how criminal activity, such as robbery is any different from that of the sly,
underhanded actions of a politician or any other individual in a position of power. Readers also
develop an emotional attachment to a character, such as the main character in Chitra Divakaruni s

The Negative Effects Of Poverty
Poverty is the deficiency of necessary money, goods, or means of support. (Pauper 1125 75). When we
hear our peers, friends or family speak about poverty it s generally associated with a person s financial
status. However, poverty is much more than the financial impact. It effects not only financial stability,
but has a psychological, behavioral, and emotional impact. Most people do not know or understand
the alternating effects of poverty. Sociologists, psychologists and others in the field have debated for
many years about whether or not poverty actually has an effect on an individual s behavior. Though a
lengthy debate, studies have proven poverty can and does have an effect on an individual s physical,
social, and developmental behaviors. (Ramathan, 2016) When children are in their early stages of
learning they are extremely receptive to their environment. The development of a child s brain is so
sensitive that being exposed to poverty in these early years can negatively affect the structure and
function of the young brain. Children are very perceptive. Unfortunately, regardless of the effort by
parents or guardians, children are effected emotionally as well as physically by poverty. These
children have to understand, cope with and overcome the effects of poverty. This undue stress can lead
to a myriad of effects like low academic achievement, behavioral and emotional problems like low
self esteem, anxiety and depression (apa.org). I remember growing in school I had a friend that would
travel an extra 20 minutes to get to school. I finally asked her one day why she made the trip when
there were schools that were closer to her home. She explained that she lived in an area of town
known as the projects . She went on to explain that the schools closer to her home were in a different
school district, that wasn t as good as the school district my school was in. She explained how
different the schools were. Her explanation is a reflection of the early self awareness children in
poverty have. In my schoolmate s case, her reaction to her economic status was to overcome, but all
too often children succumb to the negative effects.
Her statement also addresses another issue children of poverty have to

Psychoanalysis And Psychoanalysis Of Trauma
This chapter starts out about a young woman who was a prisoner from the middle east who stated, If I
talked about it, I would feel that it would happen again here. She was tortured both physically and
mentally. Through all she has been through she finds it very difficult to even think about
communicating to someone about it. It shows that their needs to be a sympathy towards the
occurrences of trauma. They live with the pain deep inside. They have a hard time erasing it and need
to learn to leave it in the past. They also do not believe they can get better. Ways to help these patients
is with psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis as well as cognitive techniques.
Psychoanalytical focuses on the effects of trauma in relation to their personality and other dealings in
their life. Trauma is the crushing of the individuals self worth leaving them feeling helpless in a
terrible situation as said by Freud. Freud said that victims of trauma relive the situations they
encountered in their mind. Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) main defense mechanism and coping
method is dissociation. The symptoms of this disorder are recurrent dreams and intrusions of
memories. The victim tries to avoid the memories and implications of their trauma to treat the victim
must retell and experience the trauma but in a safe controlled space. Effects from trauma can last for
many, many years. Those who suffer may not have the strength to recover. The torturer is making the
victim feel helpless. They prey on their fears. The victim feels they have no safe place and they may
become submissive to their torturer. They are always in fear of when their death will occur. They lose
their sense of safety and happy memories. It is replaced by fear, pain, and depression. During torture
the victim may also feel guilty or bad about themselves since they may have given information that
would cause pain and suffering to someone else. The fear for their own life makes it hard to decide
what to do in a torture situation. There are different effects of torture on the victims personality and
their life according to the Swiss Psychoanalyst Amati. One, the relation to the body is destroyed. They
endure tremendous pain, stress and near

George Whitefield Religion And Slavery
Many atrocious things were in motion during the 1700s in the New World. The English colonies of the
New World had an economy based on African slaves. English colonies had the biggest influx of
Africans. Not only were Africans effected by slavery, but so were many of the English settlers
themselves. Religion conflicted with the practice of slavery, which caused the colonists to in a sense
awaken and form new explicit opinions about religion. This caused previous conveyers of religion to
judge the new ways colonists were thinking about and acting out religion. This awakening in religion
was preached by many preachers. At the forefront of the movement was one such preacher known as
George Whitfield. Many other people during George ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

But further, if teaching slaves Christianity has such a bad influence upon their lives, why are you
desirous of having your children taught? Think you, they are any way better by nature than the poor
negroes? No, in no ways. Blacks are just as much, and no more, conceived and born in sin, as white
men are: both, if born and bred up here, I am persuaded are naturally capable of the same
improvement. (Whitefield, 4) In this quote Whitefield questions that if Christianity has such a bad
influence on the slaves, then why are colonists so eager to teach it to their offspring. George
Whitefield states that blacks are no more born into sin then white men. He believes that both races sin
equally.
George Whitefield played a massive role in the Great Awakening. He was an English minister that
used the local revivals of Edwards and the Tennants to create a Great Awakening within himself.
Whitefield then traveled across the Atlantic Ocean to spread his message to the English colonists.

John White Roanoke Colony Analysis
Imagine, a small colony of about 110 people peacefully getting settled into their new lives in North
America only to vanish three years later without a trace. This was a reality for John White as the only
thing he came back to in the colony of Roanoke was the word CROATOAN and the mystery of their
disappearance. In 1587, John White and a small band of people set foot on Roanoke Island and formed
a colony. This colony was made up of about 110 English men, women and children, and although
small, they ran through their supplies very quickly. Just a few short months after they had settled,
Governor White hesitantly decided to return to England for much need support and goods, leaving his
family and colonists behind. Unfortunately for him, the day he set sail was the last day he ever saw
them. John White s decision to return to England for supplies was made at a bad time for the country.
Upon his arrival Britain was facing an impending invasion by the Spanish Armada and he found
himself trapped in England because of this crisis. It took two years for the English to defeat the
Spanish Armada, and by the time the fighting was over White set sail, yet again, to return to his
colony. He set foot on Roanoke soil August 18th, 1590, three years after he had left for England. What

Essay on The USA Patriot Act
The USA Patriot Act
The United States of America is a country that is based upon a principle of balancing the rights of an
individual, while still preserving public order. The U.S. Constitution (specifically the Bill of Rights)
guarantees every American certain Individual rights. Some of these rights include; freedom from
unreasonable search and seizures, a right to due process of law, and protection against cruel and
unusual punishment (The 4th, 5th and 8th Amendments). Historically the criminal justice system has
preserved these rights of peopled accused of crimes. However on September 11, 2001, the United

The First Book Of Nephi Summary
Book Review: The First Book of Nephi: His Reign and Ministry Nephi was one of the sons of Lehi.
Lehi received visions from the Lord and began attempting to repent the people of Jerusalem. After his
attempted murder from those angered by his preaching, Lehi listened to God s commands and left
Jerusalem. Shortly afterwards, God commands Lehi to send his four sons back to Jerusalem so that
they may retrieve The Brass Plates held by Jerusalem s powerful leader Laban. The brothers failed
during their first couple attempts to take the Plates from Laban, but once Nephi traveled alone and
prayed to the Lord, he was successful in defeating Laban with his own sword, which had been
commanded by God, and returning the Brass Plates to his father who spend times ... Show more

Not long after Nephi s brothers attempt to kill him, Lehi has a vision of the Tree of Life and takes it as
a sign to continue his teachings about God and to convince his family to keep his commandments.
Nephi prays and receives the same vision along with its interpretations that shows the future for the
sons and their children. Lehi s sons later marry the daughters of Ishmael and discover in which they
use travel the Red Sea to find the Americas. On this journey Nephi proves once more that there is a
God and his commandments should be followed, when his bow breaks but his strong faith and will
strengthened him enough to rebuild another bow and continue to guide his family on their journey.
The brothers are trialed many other times during their journey, but finally Nephi s abusive older
brothers began to exhibit some sort of faith when Nephi commands them not to kill his father nor
touch himself or they would both die. Commanded by God, Nephi then touches his brothers, making
them believers. Once they reached Americas, Nephi was left in charge because of Lehi s death. Nephi

Anti-Communism During The Cold War

Wendy Wall, author of Anti Communism in the 1950 s, goes into a detailed description of the effects
of the red scare in society in the 1950 s. Two of the things constantly mentioned are the Federal
Loyalty Security Program and the House Un American Activities Committees.
Alexander Stafford, author of the article The Role of the Media During the Cold War, describes the
effects of McCarthyism. Stafford explains how McCarthyism originated and how its negative
connotation is the perfect example of corrupted power. This article fails to point out how exactly
McCarthy abused his power over the people however. It shows how the senator became the public
figure for fighting the red scare.

The Red Scare campaigns of the Western media were presented on every applicable media source. The
use of print with easily de codable and emotive images helped to redefine national identity as a
virtuous and patriotic America, against a dangerous and destructive socialist east. The media
distributed extreme propagandist slogans such as Better Dead than Red! This type of politicized
propaganda served to cause hysteria over communism and nuclear war (Bernhard). It worked to
subdue any domestic sympathy for the enemy or resistance to the conflict that usually occurs during
war. It was a calculated action to maintain public antagonism towards the enemy and rejection of their
political and economic policies. The media extended the propaganda to every aspect of western life,
from radio, film, television and print to even schools. The film Red Nightmare was taught as part of
the standard curriculum and is evidence of the media providing state sanctioned indoctrination of the
populace. This act of media manipulation to create mass fear and paranoia cannot be undervalued, it
was the conscious effort of the powerful to marginalize unpopular opinion and spread the dominant
agenda. It also assisted in the solidification and polarization of cultural differences and reinforced

Symptoms And Treatment Of Malaria
Description of Malaria
Malaria is caused by parasite, thus anti biotic will not have effects on them. Infected mosquitoes
spread it (Mayo Clinic). It can also be spread from mother to children through blood. However having
a malaria infected person nearby will not cause the disease to spread (WebMD). Malaria remains a
prevalent health issue in the tropical area (WHO). In 2015, there are 214 million malaria cases
reported, and the mortality rate is 60% (WHO). Typical symptoms of malaria include fever, sweats,
headache, nausea and vomiting, and body aches (CDC). Malaria can also develop serious symptoms
such as anemia, coma, seizures, metabolic acidosis and kidney failure (CDC). Those severe malaria
symptoms usually lead to death. Below is the geographical distribution of malaria.
Figure 1 Countries with ongoing transmission of malaria (WHO)
According to the map, malaria is most widely spread near the equator area with a concentration in
central and southern Africa. Most of those regions are communities with poor infrastructure
development, incompetent health system, and poverty (WHO).
The disease could only be spread through blood, and this is how doctor will diagnose and confirm
someone is infected with malaria or not. The laboratory uses microscope to exam a drop of the patient
s blood (CDC). The parasite in the blood is an indicator of malaria, and the quantity of the parasite
tells the degree of infection (WebMD). The doctor will also exam blood sample during

Despite my efforts, there was no escape, as seemingly within the second of having that naively

Six Walks In The Fictional Woods
Umberto Eco in his book Six Walks in the Fictional Woods discusses several literature theories, which
he originally told to students at the Harvard University. I, mostly, enjoyed reading it, because his
vision of literature, his thoughts about books, authors, readers are different from mine, and that is one
of the reasons why it is interesting. Of course, I did not understand everything, because Eco uses lots
of unknown to me terminology and because of lack of experience from my side in literature and life.
To begin with, I wanted to speak a little bit about two definitions from his first lecture Entering the
Woods. Eco, there introduces a model reader. But what exactly does it mean? According to Eco, model
reader a sort of ideal type whom the text ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is it good or bad? I think no because everyone thinks differently, everyone chooses their own path. So
do I. It is up to me, what I will choose, where I will go, what I will think about. It is like walking in
the woods (about what Eco told in his lecture), where are lots of trails, paths and every one of them
will lead a reader to a whole different thing. It does not matter, will it be wrong or correct, because we
all make mistakes and we all learn from them, it is right for me while walking in the wood to use
every experience and every discovery to learn about life, about the past and the future (p. 9). If I will
choose incorrect path while reading, if I will come to a deadlock with understanding a text, later on, I
will go back to the beginning and try another path. But if in literature we are able to go back and start
from the beginning, in real life it is mostly impossible. That s why I think books are a good place to
make mistakes, to try different paths, to choose the correct one, to gain more experience. But this is
not what I wanted to

The Role of Alfieri and His Dramatic Significance in the Play
Explore The Role Of Alfieri And Discuss His Dramatic Significance In The Play The play is set in
Red Hook, in Brooklyn, in New York. It is set in the 1940 s. Red Hook is a poor local community with
many immigrants. Immigrants went to America because of the depression in Europe so people wanted
work, and America was seen as a place of freedom and opportunity, otherwise known as The
American Dream . The play is mainly based on the difference between old and new, between America
and Italy. This basis is relied on and is brought up, at many points in the play. Alfieri s role in the play
is neutral. He is a narrator, and occasionally an actor in the play. When he plays a narrator, he gives

Which is exactly the point Eddie is trying to make during the play, in Sicily, from where their fathers
came, the law has not been a friendly idea since the Greeks were beaten Towards the end of the
soliloquy, Alfieri uses juxtaposition. By talking about Eddie and fate at the same time, he is joining to
ideas, and making one single idea in subtext. He is suggesting that Eddie will face fate later in the
play, and watched it run its blood course This is letting the audience know that someone in the play
will die, and by using juxtaposition, Alfieri is hinting that the person who will die, will be Eddie. By
doing this, Alfieri gives evidence that he does give the audience clues about what will happen later in
the play. When Eddie first goes to see Alfieri to ask him for advice, this is the first time the audience
actually sees Alfieri as a lawyer. However, Alfieri says, and I was acquainted with the family in a
casual way, I represented his father in an accident case some years before With Alfieri saying this, it
shows that he has a history with Eddie, letting the audience know that when Eddie asks him for
advice, Alfieri will answer as a friend, not just as a lawyer. As soon as Alferi sees Eddie properly, he

Character Analysis Of Napolewell And The Animal Farm
Mr. Jones
Mr. Jones was the original owner of the farm whose rule ended when the animals rebelled. His
character symbolizes that of the ruler of Russia prior to the revolution, Tsar Nicholas II, who resigned
from the throne due to unrest in the people. Prior to the animal rebellion, Jones had lost money due to
a lawsuit and his farm suffered, his men were idle and dishonest, the fields were full of weeds...and
the animals were underfed (38). This was the breaking point that finally led the animals to rebel.
Correspondingly, the immediate cause towards Nicholas II s abdication were food shortages (the
driving force of the February Revolution). Napoleon
After Jones was out of the way, Snowball and Napoleon became the two disagreeing leaders.
Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin, although he wasn t the immediate next leader of Russia after Tsar
Nicholas II was overthrown. Just as how Napoleon executed animals who were a threat and the air
was heavy with the smell of blood, which had been unknown since the expulsion of Mr. Jones
(Nicholas II was given the name Nicholas the Bloody), Joseph Stalin had his reign of terror called the
Great Purge (93) where he executed many of his own people whom he believed were against him.
Another striking similarity was when Napoleon agreed to cooperate with Frederick, selling him the
pile of timber, and assured the animals that the stories of an impending attack on Animal Farm were
completely untrue (105). However, Frederick did eventually

Effects Of Jim Crow
The Effect of Jim Crow Laws on the American South
Soon after the Civil War, the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the Constitution abolished slavery,
granted citizenship, and provided equal protection to formerly enslaved people. However, most
southern states figured out ways to avoid these new laws and continued to deny the social and political
rights of African Americans. Laws were passed and other measures were enforced by white
southerners to produce a society separated by race. Specifically, southern legislatures passed new
segregation laws which were referred to as the Jim Crow laws. These laws were apparently created to
regulate social interactions between whites and blacks. In reality, the Jim Crow laws made life very
challenging for African Americans in the post Civil War South because these laws intended to keep
society segregated, reject the human and civil rights of African Americans, and keep blacks at the
bottom of the social hierarchy.
In the 1870s, white southerners implemented a racially segregated society across the South through
the creation of the Jim Crow laws. For instance, whites only and colored signs rapidly increased
throughout the American South as a constant reminder of the enforced racial order. These laws
affected almost every aspect of daily life, mandating segregation of schools, parks, libraries, drinking
fountains, restrooms, buses, trains, and restaurants ( Jim Crow ). Jim Crow intended to separate the
races since this system aimed

Principles . Principles In Community Development Are Used
Principles
Principles in community development are used to achieve overall goals and achieve results
(Checkoway 1995). Jim Ife has identified 32 principles of community development that are seen as
critical components and can be useful to develop a framework for evaluating community development
(Ife 2016). Many of Jim Ife s principles are being acted upon in this case study such as Addressing
disadvantage and inequality, linking the global and the local, valuing local processes, valuing local
skills and relationship and dialogue.
Relationship and Dialogue is one of Jim Ife s process principles. Community development essentially
focuses on process rather than the outcome (Ife 2016). Relationship and dialogue focuses on the

Effective control requires ongoing structures and processes. Effectively community control requires
adequate resources, including income, material resources and knowledge and strong skills base
(Kenny and Connors 2017). This definition is reflected on in the case study as the residents are
teaching and learning from each other. This enables them to use their own resources to develop a small
business that operates from an office in the estate. By developing a business and strategy plan, the
residences are taking control of their own development. The members of the estate have set up these
structures and plans, which enables them to have ongoing progress for the future.
Healy refers to community development as a set of approaches focused on understanding individuals
as part of a community and on building the capacity of that community to address the social,
economic or political challenges facing its members (Healy 2012). One of the adults was a graphic
designer in his country of origin. Through the access of computers he was able to expand on his
knowledge and learn how to create web designs. He then was able to share his knowledge with others
in the community to start up the business. Healys definition has been applied to the case study as he
community came together to build a economic future for their estate.

college, and John himself dropped out after a mere two years in college. His father earned a living
being an inventor. Cage credits his father, being an inventor, as very influential to the way in which he
wrote music. John also considered himself as an innovator and discoverer in the field of music. John

Cage, in 1938, once conquered the challenge of creating percussion instruments for a dance in a
theatre that had no wings or orchestra pit, there was just barely enough room for a small grand piano
built into the front left of the audience. Being so limited on space and not being able to neither find,
nor fit an African twelve tone row, he invented the prepared piano. The prepared piano he created by
adding screws, bolts, rubber, wood and weather striping between the strings of the grand piano. The
piano was transformed into a percussion orchestra, with the loudness of that of a harpsichord. Cage
later went on to earn awards for Sonatas and Interludes which was one of his most important works
for the prepared piano in 1946 to 1948. Cage later went on to say My favorite music is the music that I
haven t yet heard. I don t here the music I write: I write in order to hear the music I have [not] yet
heard. This quote summarizes his philosophy on indeterminacy. This belief led to the creation of 4 33 ,

that he used 4.33 minutes which equals 273 seconds. And 273 centigrade = zero degrees where

Later John went on studying Zen Buddhism and the I Ching which is what steered him more so in the
direction of indeterminacy. With this style he would

Outline Of Alexis De Tocqueville
1.) Alexis de Tocqueville viewed equality as the greatest political and social idea in his era. He was a
French sociologist and political theorist who traveled to the United States to study its social ethics. As
one who studied our country from an outside country, he thought that America provided the most
profound example of equality within society. In his piece, he says, But one also finds in the human
heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to want to bring the strong down to their
level, and which reduces men to preferring equality in servitude to inequality in freedom. Alexis de

Individualism in humans was consdered dangerous in society because once a population is unwilling
to contribute to society, it could cause a crumble in the system and lead to a harder situation for all
members of the area. Those who are individualists are unwilling to bond with the rest of society and
make it difficult for functions to run properly. 3.) When in America, Alexis de Tocqueville made
notable observations about the forming of assosiations within society. He states that Americans of all
ages, all conditions, all minds constantly unite. De Tocqueville meant that those who are
individualized seemed to become lonely and have less purpose to work with others to better the world
for all. He noted that there were many different kinds of associations, including religions, book
distributions, hospitals, and schools that had associations within themselves. He also notes
relationships between republic and democratic associations and their impacts on politics. 4.) Alexis de
Toqueville says that political associations may ultimately crash if society leans toward isolation and
fails to preserve their freedom.

Specialties within Radiology
Modern medicine is capable of treating a tremendous range of human disease and injuries, but the
usefulness of all medical specialties depends on accurate diagnosis. Virtually every conceivable
medical specialty relies on radiological technologies to provide formal diagnoses, making radiology
one of the most important of all medical specialties. Radiologists enjoy some of the best working
conditions in modern medicine and typically experience very positive employment conditions.
Consequently, their services are generally in very high demand, with many starting out with six figure
annual incomes immediately after completion of their professional training. Within the field of

In the words of my Radiology professor, Warren Hejny, Radiology can take you anywhere; it can be
used as a starting block or stepping stone. Because of its tremendously wide applications within
modern medicine, radiology offers more than a dozen distinct areas of even greater specialization
within the field. Some of those specialty areas involve direct medical intervention, such as in the case
of radiation oncology and interventional radiology. Others focus more on diagnostics rather than on
direct medical treatment.
In that regard, breast imaging involves diagnosing diseases of the breast through mammography,
ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and tissue biopsies. Cardiovascular radiology is the
radiology specialty that uses X rays, computer axial tomography (CAT scans), MRIs, and ultrasound
to diagnose problems with the heart and circulatory system. Chest radiology employs many of the
same technologies and tools to diagnose and treat medical conditions of the heart and lungs. Other
radiology specialty practice areas include: gastrointestinal radiology, emergency radiology, head and
neck radiology, musculoskeletal radiology, and reproductive radiology. Finally, radiology specialties
can also intersect directly with other specialty areas of interest such as

Types Of Health Maintenance Organization Plans
Two types of health maintenance organization plans that are readily available are the Staff Model
HMO and Group Model HMO, and these plans are often called closed panel plans (Kongstvedt, 2016,
p. 63). These HMO plans are considered closed because either the HMO employs the physician, or the
physician belongs to the HMO group, thus creating a smaller network for the patient to be seen
(Farnham, n.d., Chapter 3). Each HMO plan has its benefits and disadvantages for the physician and
patient. Consequently, depending on what the patient needs to meet their medical needs the Staff
Model HMO plan or Group Model HMO plan would benefit them. Furthermore, depending on the
particular type of freedom the physician is looking for is what would influence the type of plan they
would join.
During a Staff Model HMO the physician is employed by HMO network, thus they are salaried
employees. Therefore, the physician is paid whether he sees an HMO patient or not. On the other
hand, the physician could be very busy and still get the same salary. Sometimes the HMO offers
incentives for quality control, so that the physician does not use expensive medical testing
(Kongstvedt, 2016, p. 65). Besides the HMO paying the salary of the physicians, the HMO actually
owns the medical facilities, equipment, and supplies used by the HMO physician and in some cases
the hospital. Hence, the physician employed by the HMO could be financially beneficial to them.

Characteristics Of An Oligopoly
It s called an oligopoly. It s not a regular market... It s a market in which they control the prices and
they ve been doing it for years.
Richard Miller
The quote above explains the characteristics of an oligopoly in comparison to other market structures.
Miller suggests the nature of the market is uncommon and that prices are rigid.
The hypothesis mentioned in the introduction supports this assumption on the real estate market in
Hanoi. However, it can be questioned whether the real estate market is an oligopoly.
2.1 Market structure
In economics, a market structure refers to the characteristics of a market that influence the behavior of
firms within an industry. These include number of firms, market power, level and forms of
competition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In oligopoly, industries are dominated by a small number of large firms, though in any one industry
the firms are likely to vary in size. The concentration ratios of these firms tend to be fairly high. This
means that, for example, the largest four firms in the industry accounts for 70% of the market share.
The implication of this is that firms in oligopoly are interdependent. The actions of one firm will
directly affect the others. Each of the large firms in the industry has to try and predict the actions of
the others. They may collude to avoid this.
2.2.3 High barriers to entry/exit
Barriers to entry are high. Oligopolies often maintain their position of dominance in a market because
other potential rivals are unable to enter the industry. The hurdles that prevent other firms from
entering the industry are called barriers to entry. These barriers could include government licenses,
economies of scale, patents and access to technology. In addition, many established oligopolies spend
enormous sums on product differentiation and advertising, making it difficult for new firms to match
such expenditures. High barriers to entry allow firms to make economic profits in the long run.
2.2.4 Mutual

  • 2. Gender Schema Theory My first research showcase presentation was Gender Differences in Physical Activity Levels and presenters were Petrona Gregoria, Britanny Whetsel, Dora Pena, Cassidy Heidt. Their hypothesis was boys would have higher level of physical activities than girls. They came up with this hypothesis because obesity level in the U.S. is increasingly among young children. The Gender Schema Theory suggests a view of how each gender should act, what is expected and accepted of their gender. Researchers observed the children and after they observed them, they did an independent t test. The method was clearly described. They had 32 participants (50% boys) between ages 3 4, were observed through a one way window at an on campus daycare center. Measures were, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The presenters were Selina G .Gonzales, Paola A. llescas Marquez Kimberly D Anna Hernandez, PhD. Their hypothesis was as C reactive protein levels increase within infants, their risk for adverse health outcomes increase; including jaundice, low birth weight, shorter birth length, and increase risk of staying in the NICU. They came up with this hypothesis because the Latino population known to have health adversities, including obesity, in comparison to their non Latino white counterpart. The method was clearly described. Participants were 18 Mexican American postpartum mother of singletons selected from longitudinal study. Their measure was infant outcomes such as birth weight, birth length, gestational age, jaundice, and NICU stay were obtained through self reports completed at an in home visit at birth. Researchers was collected saliva from infants between 3 to 28 days after birth with Salimetrics infant swabs. They run appropriate statistical analyses; regression for nominal variables and t test for categorical variables because variables were nominal and categorical. The result was salivary infant CRP levels were not related to adverse birth and infant health outcomes in the Latino populations. My question was, what was the purpose of this research? Their answer was that they wanted to prevent measures that affects infants in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Enterprise Mobility Improves The Time, Content, And Form... Enterprise mobility improves the time, content, and form dimensions of information quality. Since each dimension is improved, the resulting overall quality of information generated by an organizational information system that utilizes enterprise mobility is also improved. Improved Information Accessibility Enterprise mobility enables improvements in information accessibility. The degree of improvement is directly dependent upon the mobile hardware and communications equipment in use. The degree of information accessibility required which defines the hardware and communications requirements is determined by the business needs that are driving the enterprise mobility application. Enterprise mobility technology (hardware, software, and communications) provides a wide range of options that can be mixed and matched to fit the needs of each individual enterprise mobility application. The improvements in information accessibility enabled by enterprise mobility result in improved information flow both to and from the central fixed information system. The mobile computer enables quick and efficient information retrieval from the central information system. The ability to access central information and make fixed or ad hoc queries of corporate databases enables employees to get the information they need to complete the job. • 4. The Virus Is Contagious And Mutate The ASF virus is highly contagious and spreads rapidly in pig populations through direct and indirect contact. This virus can persist for long periods in pig products and the environment, and may be endemic in feral or wild suids and in Ornithodoros ticks. Isolates of ASFV vary in virulence; some strains are highly pathogenic, resulting in almost 100% mortality while others are low virulence or asymptomatic isolates that can be difficult to diagnose [1]. 1.1.1 History Discovery of the disease Notable epidemics/epizootics/outbreaks of this disease Historical mortality Once endemic in the Iberian Peninsula, ASFV was successfully eradicated from the European Union (EU) at the end of the 1990s after a prolonged 30 year effort. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even North American swine herds are at elevated risk of accidental or deliberate ASFV introduction from its widespread occurrence in Eastern Europe. Unlike most trans boundary viral infections, there is no vaccine available against ASFV. Consequently, detection and elimination of infected animals (surveillance) combined with quarantine, pig movement controls and high herd bio security are the only methods to control and eradicate ASF [3]. This approach is costly and often prohibitively expensive for food insecure and developing countries affected by the disease, increasing the probability of ASF becoming endemic in those regions. African swine fever virus control is further complicated by its complex ecology and transmission epidemiology. In addition to infection by direct and indirect (fomite) contact among confined domestic swine, wild suids, and feral domestic hogs, soft bodied ticks (Genus Ornithodoros) can transmit ASF and serve as virus reservoirs. Many wild boars in Russia and the Caucasus have been infected by ASF since 2007, and there is evidence that some pigs may become carriers [4] The Ornithodoros tick vector is also present in this region. However, the roles played by wild boars, feral swine and tick vectors in ASFV eco epidemiology and transmission in the Caucasus are unknown at this time. Humans are not ... • 5. Radioactive Boy Scout By David Hahn Introduction The book Radioactive Boy Scout is a true story about a boy named David Hahn that attended a Michigan high school. His goal was to set out and build a fast breeder reactor in his garden shed. He educated himself in these things by reading popular mechanics and the golden book of chemistry experiments. Whatever he could not get from laboratory suppliers, universities, hospitals, and nuclear agencies, he made himself. David collected household smoke detectors and extracted americium 24. He also got assembled gas mantle covers and pulverized them to get radioactive thorium and took the Geiger counter in to an antique shop where he found a clock with a phial of radium paint left in it. With a little bit of things he had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... David would go through medicine chest, and cabinets and gather things together like; toothpaste, soap, medicine, cram, nail polish remover, and rubbing alcohol. He would mix everything together into a metal bowl and stir all the contents together in an ashtray, after stirring all the things together he realized all he had was a lifeless gray blob. So of course he added more things to it and eventually caused the products to boil over and so David flushed them down the toilet. Key Idea 2 David was so into science that he had no time for any other activities. Is dad tried to get him into activities, but David never seemed interested. • 7. Mount Everest Climbers Mount Everest is the biggest mountain in the world, and because of that attracts many climbers to try and climb all 29,029 feet of it, but think about all the trash they leave behind while climbing. In 2013 4,000 people have reached Everest s summit, with many more attempting to. Mount Everest has a natural beauty, one that should be preserved, and people climbing the mountain and leaving their garbage on it is ruining it. Climbers have a negative impact on Mount Everest, and while journeying to the top, they are slowly destroying the mountain. First of all, the short article The World s Highest Mountain describes what Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay experienced and felt as they climbed Mount Everest and it shows the efforts that they made afterwards to help preserve and keep the mountain safe from the dangers of climbers. For instance, the text states that Hillary was also deeply concerned about the environment. He helped establish reforestation programs in Nepal. He also demanded that mountain climbers clean up the garbage that often got left behind on Mount Everest materials like used oxygen bottles, which climbers would discard because of their weight (Source #1 7). This shows that Sir Edmund HIllary and Tenzing Norgay understand how much trash climbers leave behind when climbing Mount Everest because they went on that climb and probably left some garbage on the mountain. Additionally, it allows the audience to see that climbing the mountain means leaving trash, and since Hillary understands this from his own climb, he is demanding people pick up their garbage. For example, paragraph 4 of The World s Highest Mountain it says that The goal Hillary and Norgay set for themselves wasn t easy. The pair encountered difficult challenges on the way to the summit, such as narrow ridges and 10,000 foot drops off the mountain. Hillary and Norgay s experience on the mountain proves to us just how difficult it is to climb Mount Everest. Because it is so difficult to climb Mount, you wouldn t want to have to carry your garbage up and back down the mountain, it is easier to leave it on the mountain and that is what most people do. Therefore, because of the difficulties climbers face when climbing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When we hear our peers, friends or family speak about poverty it s generally associated with a person s financial status. However, poverty is much more than the financial impact. It effects not only financial stability, but has a psychological, behavioral, and emotional impact. Most people do not know or understand the alternating effects of poverty. Sociologists, psychologists and others in the field have debated for many years about whether or not poverty actually has an effect on an individual s behavior. Though a lengthy debate, studies have proven poverty can and does have an effect on an individual s physical, social, and developmental behaviors. (Ramathan, 2016) When children are in their early stages of learning they are extremely receptive to their environment. The development of a child s brain is so sensitive that being exposed to poverty in these early years can negatively affect the structure and function of the young brain. Children are very perceptive. Unfortunately, regardless of the effort by parents or guardians, children are effected emotionally as well as physically by poverty. These children have to understand, cope with and overcome the effects of poverty. Despite my efforts, there was no escape, as seemingly within the second of having that naively optimistic thought, a cruel, callous voice demanded I surrender my broach. Fear spiked, as it always did, but with it came something else, an alien emotion ... • 27. Six Walks In The Fictional Woods Umberto Eco in his book Six Walks in the Fictional Woods discusses several literature theories, which he originally told to students at the Harvard University. I, mostly, enjoyed reading it, because his vision of literature, his thoughts about books, authors, readers are different from mine, and that is one of the reasons why it is interesting. Of course, I did not understand everything, because Eco uses lots of unknown to me terminology and because of lack of experience from my side in literature and life. To begin with, I wanted to speak a little bit about two definitions from his first lecture Entering the Woods. Eco, there introduces a model reader. But what exactly does it mean? According to Eco, model reader a sort of ideal type whom the text ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is it good or bad? I think no because everyone thinks differently, everyone chooses their own path. So do I. It is up to me, what I will choose, where I will go, what I will think about. It is like walking in the woods (about what Eco told in his lecture), where are lots of trails, paths and every one of them will lead a reader to a whole different thing. It does not matter, will it be wrong or correct, because we all make mistakes and we all learn from them, it is right for me while walking in the wood to use every experience and every discovery to learn about life, about the past and the future (p. 9). If I will choose incorrect path while reading, if I will come to a deadlock with understanding a text, later on, I will go back to the beginning and try another path. But if in literature we are able to go back and start from the beginning, in real life it is mostly impossible. That s why I think books are a good place to make mistakes, to try different paths, to choose the correct one, to gain more experience. But this is not what I wanted to ... The Role of Alfieri and His Dramatic Significance in the Play Explore The Role Of Alfieri And Discuss His Dramatic Significance In The Play The play is set in Red Hook, in Brooklyn, in New York. It is set in the 1940 s. Red Hook is a poor local community with many immigrants. Immigrants went to America because of the depression in Europe so people wanted work, and America was seen as a place of freedom and opportunity, otherwise known as The American Dream . The play is mainly based on the difference between old and new, between America and Italy. This basis is relied on and is brought up, at many points in the play. By talking about Eddie and fate at the same time, he is joining to ideas, and making one single idea in subtext. He is suggesting that Eddie will face fate later in the play, and watched it run its blood course This is letting the audience know that someone in the play will die, and by using juxtaposition, Alfieri is hinting that the person who will die, will be Eddie. By doing this, Alfieri gives evidence that he does give the audience clues about what will happen later in the play. When Eddie first goes to see Alfieri to ask him for advice, this is the first time the audience actually sees Alfieri as a lawyer. However, Alfieri says, and I was acquainted with the family in a casual way, I represented his father in an accident case some years before With Alfieri saying this, it shows that he has a history with Eddie, letting the audience know that when Eddie asks him for advice, Alfieri will answer as a friend, not just as a lawyer. • 29. Character Analysis Of Napolewell And The Animal Farm Mr. Jones Mr. Jones was the original owner of the farm whose rule ended when the animals rebelled. His character symbolizes that of the ruler of Russia prior to the revolution, Tsar Nicholas II, who resigned from the throne due to unrest in the people. Prior to the animal rebellion, Jones had lost money due to a lawsuit and his farm suffered, his men were idle and dishonest, the fields were full of weeds...and the animals were underfed (38). This was the breaking point that finally led the animals to rebel. Correspondingly, the immediate cause towards Nicholas II s abdication were food shortages (the driving force of the February Revolution). Napoleon After Jones was out of the way, Snowball and Napoleon became the two disagreeing leaders. Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin, although he wasn t the immediate next leader of Russia after Tsar Nicholas II was overthrown. Just as how Napoleon executed animals who were a threat and the air was heavy with the smell of blood, which had been unknown since the expulsion of Mr. Jones (Nicholas II was given the name Nicholas the Bloody), Joseph Stalin had his reign of terror called the Great Purge (93) where he executed many of his own people whom he believed were against him. Another striking similarity was when Napoleon agreed to cooperate with Frederick, selling him the pile of timber, and assured the animals that the stories of an impending attack on Animal Farm were completely untrue (105). • 30. Effects Of Jim Crow The Effect of Jim Crow Laws on the American South Soon after the Civil War, the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the Constitution abolished slavery, granted citizenship, and provided equal protection to formerly enslaved people. However, most southern states figured out ways to avoid these new laws and continued to deny the social and political rights of African Americans. Laws were passed and other measures were enforced by white southerners to produce a society separated by race. Specifically, southern legislatures passed new segregation laws which were referred to as the Jim Crow laws. These laws were apparently created to regulate social interactions between whites and blacks. In reality, the Jim Crow laws made life very challenging for African Americans in the post Civil War South because these laws intended to keep society segregated, reject the human and civil rights of African Americans, and keep blacks at the bottom of the social hierarchy. In the 1870s, white southerners implemented a racially segregated society across the South through the creation of the Jim Crow laws. For instance, whites only and colored signs rapidly increased throughout the American South as a constant reminder of the enforced racial order. These laws affected almost every aspect of daily life, mandating segregation of schools, parks, libraries, drinking fountains, restrooms, buses, trains, and restaurants ( Jim Crow ). Cage, in 1938, once conquered the challenge of creating percussion instruments for a dance in a theatre that had no wings or orchestra pit, there was just barely enough room for a small grand piano built into the front left of the audience. Being so limited on space and not being able to neither find, nor fit an African twelve tone row, he invented the prepared piano. The prepared piano he created by adding screws, bolts, rubber, wood and weather striping between the strings of the grand piano. The piano was transformed into a percussion orchestra, with the loudness of that of a harpsichord. Cage later went on to earn awards for Sonatas and Interludes which was one of his most important works for the prepared piano in 1946 to 1948. Cage later went on to say My favorite music is the music that I haven t yet heard. I don t here the music I write: I write in order to hear the music I have [not] yet heard. This quote summarizes his philosophy on indeterminacy. This belief led to the creation of 4 33 , his recording of the sounds around you. The only thing specified is the length of the piece. As one who studied our country from an outside country, he thought that America provided the most profound example of equality within society. In his piece, he says, But one also finds in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to want to bring the strong down to their level, and which reduces men to preferring equality in servitude to inequality in freedom. De Tocqueville meant that those who are individualized seemed to become lonely and have less purpose to work with others to better the world for all. He noted that there were many different kinds of associations, including religions, book distributions, hospitals, and schools that had associations within themselves. Virtually every conceivable medical specialty relies on radiological technologies to provide formal diagnoses, making radiology one of the most important of all medical specialties. Radiologists enjoy some of the best working conditions in modern medicine and typically experience very positive employment conditions. Because of its tremendously wide applications within modern medicine, radiology offers more than a dozen distinct areas of even greater specialization within the field. Some of those specialty areas involve direct medical intervention, such as in the case of radiation oncology and interventional radiology. Others focus more on diagnostics rather than on direct medical treatment. In that regard, breast imaging involves diagnosing diseases of the breast through mammography, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and tissue biopsies. Cardiovascular radiology is the radiology specialty that uses X rays, computer axial tomography (CAT scans), MRIs, and ultrasound to diagnose problems with the heart and circulatory system. Chest radiology employs many of the same technologies and tools to diagnose and treat medical conditions of the heart and lungs. • 36. Types Of Health Maintenance Organization Plans Two types of health maintenance organization plans that are readily available are the Staff Model HMO and Group Model HMO, and these plans are often called closed panel plans (Kongstvedt, 2016, p. 63). These HMO plans are considered closed because either the HMO employs the physician, or the physician belongs to the HMO group, thus creating a smaller network for the patient to be seen (Farnham, n.d., Chapter 3). Each HMO plan has its benefits and disadvantages for the physician and patient. Consequently, depending on what the patient needs to meet their medical needs the Staff Model HMO plan or Group Model HMO plan would benefit them. Furthermore, depending on the particular type of freedom the physician is looking for is what would influence the type of plan they would join. During a Staff Model HMO the physician is employed by HMO network, thus they are salaried employees. Therefore, the physician is paid whether he sees an HMO patient or not. On the other hand, the physician could be very busy and still get the same salary. Sometimes the HMO offers incentives for quality control, so that the physician does not use expensive medical testing (Kongstvedt, 2016, p. 65). Besides the HMO paying the salary of the physicians, the HMO actually owns the medical facilities, equipment, and supplies used by the HMO physician and in some cases the hospital. Hence, the physician employed by the HMO could be financially beneficial to them. Additionally, because of the size of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Richard Miller The quote above explains the characteristics of an oligopoly in comparison to other market structures. Miller suggests the nature of the market is uncommon and that prices are rigid. The hypothesis mentioned in the introduction supports this assumption on the real estate market in Hanoi. In oligopoly, industries are dominated by a small number of large firms, though in any one industry the firms are likely to vary in size. The concentration ratios of these firms tend to be fairly high. This means that, for example, the largest four firms in the industry accounts for 70% of the market share. The implication of this is that firms in oligopoly are interdependent. The actions of one firm will directly affect the others. Each of the large firms in the industry has to try and predict the actions of the others. They may collude to avoid this. 2.2.3 High barriers to entry/exit Barriers to entry are high. Oligopolies often maintain their position of dominance in a market because other potential rivals are unable to enter the industry. The hurdles that prevent other firms from entering the industry are called barriers to entry. These barriers could include government licenses, economies of scale, patents and access to technology. In addition, many established oligopolies spend enormous sums on product differentiation and advertising, making it difficult for new firms to match such expenditures. High barriers to entry allow firms to make economic profits in the long run. 2.2.4 Mutual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
