Personal Note On Writing And Writing
Onomatopoeia, similes, personification; these are just a few writing techniques that I do not use when
I write. Why? Most of the writing done by myself is boring essay s I am forced to write in order to get
a good grade. Though I received mostly A s on my papers it was hard and annoying to write papers. In
my history as a writer any subject, assignment, or just writing that I have done that I enjoyed was
exciting and fun to write. When composing papers on subjects I am interested in, writing becomes
more enjoyable. Growing up, fooling around with writing was something I did for fun and I would
write about being in the MLB. I started off by sitting on my twin bed, daydreaming about what it
would be like to be a professional baseball player. The Yankees were the team I always dreamed of
playing for, pinstripes looked great on me. When I thought of situations I would be in I had to write it
down, this led to the beginning of my story. I sat down at my black desk with a pen and a composition
notebook and began the create my version of a masterpiece. It felt like steam was coming out of my
head because of my thoughts and my hand was moving as fast as wind in a hurricane. Writing this
story gave me a rush as if I was actually playing in this game. After finishing my thought, the
experience made my writing as enjoyable as actually playing the game. Later, in elementary school, I
would write love letters to the cute girls in class. The first love letter was to my third grade

them in their revenue. The drive to generate greater profits and maintain its status as a giant in the
industry, led to the discovery of the service business through IT solutions. As a result of this, the
company obtained $90 billion in revenue in 2006 from its Global Services department (Chesbrough,
2007). However, its main focus has been innovation for decades.

Teaching Nurses On Compassion Fatigue
While working in an emergency department (ED), nurses are expected to show compassion even when
they are exhausted? Over tired? Over worked? Fatigued? The purpose of this evidence based practice
(EBP) project was to educate ED nurses on compassion fatigue (CF) risk factors, causes, and
symptoms as well as assist them in its identification among each other and within themselves. Further,
the project sought to provide nurses with skills in order to prevent CF. A two hour workshop
consisting of a PowerPoint presentation was implemented in a busy emergency department on the
coast of NJ. Teaching nurses about compassion fatigue and ways in which to alleviate and prevent it
were stressed. Self regulation and self care practices were introduced using interactive activities. Over
the next four weeks, emails were sent reiterating self care and self regulatory techniques. A Pretest
posttest design used the Professional Quality of Life (ProQOL) measure to determine if burnout and
secondary traumatic stress (both components of CF) and compassion satisfaction improved from the
workshop. A comparative means analysis showed a decline in CF.
Keywords: Compassion fatigue, compassion satisfaction, self regulation, self care, Emergency
department nursing.

The Relationship Between Randomness And Correlation...
Whether or not it is noticed, there are numerous examples of variability in day to day life.
Randomness can take many forms, but one such example is in the sport of soccer. The same two teams
could play the same game against each other five times and each game could have a different score
with both teams being able to win at least once. There must be a reason for inconsistencies like this.
That is randomness and variability. For sure, each team has its own players with their own skills, but
when it comes down to it, there s a level of randomness in the sport that can often mean the difference
between a team winning or losing. Even generally speaking, the sport has randomness in it that has no
hugely perceivable on the outcome of the game, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, in the odd chance that there were no major delays of the game in professional soccer, the
total time of the first half may be 44 minutes and 59 seconds and 10 milliseconds and so on. It is
highly unlikely that play will commence for exactly 40 minutes, no more, no less.
It can also be taken into account that delays are very common in the sport. Say a game time was set at
6:00 p.m., but a rain delay caused it to start at 6:10 instead. Many factors can affect the timing of
soccer. Another great example is the fact that at the end of the game the referee allows for make up
play. In Major League soccer lost time during played is made up after the 90 minutes had been spent.
It is not uncommon to see famous players, like Cristiano Ronaldo, flop on the ground and milk an
injury after an opposing player barely bumped them. This causes a major interruption of play and can
cost minutes off of the clock. Brawls, streakers , injuries, and weather all affect the time span of a
game. In order to make up for what was lost, the referee allots extra time after the 90 minutes has
expired. This time is supposed to make up for all of the delays. However, the extra time given almost
never truly matches the amount of time lost. Say during the game there was a roughly 5 minute
recovery period for an injured player, a 7 minute

Questions on Southern Comfort
Why is Brown Forman considering buying Southern Comfort? In your answer consider the strategic
motives of Brown and the arguments in favor of and against the acquisition (7 marks / total 20 marks).
Brown Forman Distillers Corporation is by analysis in a generally more favorable financial position
relative to its major competitors. In the FY1978, the company held a relatively higher profit margin,
higher anticipated return on investment as well as higher profit margin. The FY1978 financial report
indicates that the company was in a positive position since the balance sheet indicated strong results in
regard to asset management as wells relatively low level of debt to equity ratio. Even though the
industry was facing a sluggish growth rate in terms of sales, the company defied the odds of the
market and continued to experience growth. These allowed the company the opportunity to succeed in
financing an expansion strategy via the acquisition of Southern Comfort. Southern Comfort as a
company too was considered a liquor powerhouse due to its strategic ability to produce unique liquor
made from a secret formula. This formula was exclusive to the company s owners and allowed them to
produce liquor of distinctive flavor. Since Brown Forman s policy is to produce and sell only high
quality products at high/premium prices, South Comfort s product offering blended into its
philosophical view of producing a unique and high quality product with a very strong brand
perception. The

Mary Whiton Calkins Essay
Mary Whiton Calkins
Mary Whiton Calkins, is best known for two things: becoming the first woman president of The
American Psychological Association and being denied her doctorate from Harvard. However, these
two aspects only make up a small portion of what she accomplished in her life. Her entire life was
dedicated to her work, especially the development of her Psychology of selves. She founded an early
psychology laboratory and invented the paired associate technique. She passionately dove into the
new field of Psychology but also was highly active in the field of Philosophy. She was not deterred by
being a woman and used her struggles to gain a voice to speak out against women s oppression. (5)

However, she faced two problems meeting this condition. The first, being that there were few
psychology departments in 1890. Secondly, getting admitted to these places that did offer the program
was highly unlikely since she was a woman. Her first consideration was to study abroad. An instructor
at Smith told her that her best chance was to try obtaining private instruction in psychology and
philosophy at any of the German universities outside of Zurich (6).
However, another instructor told her that would be a good idea if ladies had been allowed the same
privileges as men (6). Calkins formally dismissed going to Germany when she received a letter from a
woman student attending the University of Gottingen which stated, I wish I might encourage you; but
past experience has proved to me the utter uselessness of trying to enlighten the authorities, at least, in
our generation.
Once Calkins started looking at the United States, she discovered that the University of Michigan,
where she would be studying under John Dewey, and Yale, where she would be studying under G.T.
Ladd, were promising. However, she received a letter from another woman student that dissuaded her.
The letter stated, Personally, I should be immensely glad if you would come. We might be able to get

the lectures. If there were only one or two other girls who would come to join us, we

The Girl with The Silver Eyes
Hard boiled detective fiction sets the scene for a cold and harsh reality. Dashiell Hammett s, The Girl
with The Silver Eyes is no exception to this rule. In this short story Hammett paints a picture of a
brutally realistic urban center filled with characters that not many people would want to call friends.
The realistic qualities of Hammett s story are drawn from his own life s experience working as a
Pinkerton detective. The detective in The Girl With The Silver Eyes works for the Continental
Detective Agency and is, therefore, known simply as the Continental Op. In the beginning of the story
the Op professes, a detective, if he is wise, takes pains to make and keep as many friends as possible

The P.I. does not care that his prospective client is visibly upset by the disappearance of his love, Miss
Jeanne Delano. The detective in The Girl With The Silver Eyes can be describes as being very clinical
and curt in his approach to the people he works with. The Continental Op bases everything on direct
observation of the situation, largely discouraging the small details that people want to include. The Op
asks Burke Pangburn to describe Miss Delano**** The Continental Op believes in taking, pains to
make and keep as many friends as possible among transfer company, express company and railroad
employees (27). His method of going about his detective work depends on this philosophy. Without
the help of the people he calls friends the P.I. would be unable to get the information that he needs to
solve his cases. The people that the Op refers to as friends are people that he pays or forcible
converses into helping him. While hot on the trail the detective finds himself at the Marquis Hotel and
in need of some information from the girl on duty behind the desk. The detective walks right up to the
desk and asks, who s been calling Halfmoon Bay numbers (36)? The firm manner of the P.I. does not
allow for a friendly, hello or a how are you? In the same paragraph the Continental Op mentions that

A Commodity Sign
A commodity sign invests symbolic meaning in products or services as a signifier with an image as
signified. In recent times, consumer culture is driven by our desire for superfluous wants, causing the
production and consumption of commodity signs to become more specialised according to the notion
of capital. Capitalism is characterised by economies that are based on open markets and the ethos of
individuality over community. French Sociologist Pierre Bourdieu (Distinction 1984) introduced the
schema of subcultural capital, which confers status on its owner in the eyes of the relevant beholder
(Thorton, 2006: 100). Therefore people have the idea that they can buy subcultural capital, as it is seen
as self revealing, in order to impress people or become someone else (Frith, 1996: 5). Thus advertising
was developed as a strategy in generating demand in a contemporary consumer culture. Mass
marketing has split the unity of signifiers and signified into a language of appearances and images of
which we realise as either visible, physical connections or indirect connotations to that which they
represent.
This essay will be addressing ideologies of consumer fetishism and pseudo individuality through
examining the commodity signs found in the mass marketing and advertising of designer cosmetics,
particularly Chanel.
Commodity signs are assembled through advertisements, using already existent meanings and turning
them into modified meanings to suit their purpose. As consumers we

Buying A Buffalo Wild Wings Franchise Fee
An easier alternative to starting a business from scratch is purchasing an already established one. This
can be achieved through purchasing a franchise, a business that follows an already established model.
Before one purchases a franchise, they must obtain specific information to know whether or not the
venture is worth it. One franchise that is growing in popularity is Buffalo Wild Wings. Although it is
growing in popularity and success, is purchasing a Buffalo Wild Wings franchise worth it? The first
question one must ask is about the initial franchise fee, the amount a franchisee pays up front when
obtaining a franchise. Buffalo Wild Wings franchise fee is $40,000. This fee covers a variety of
services provided by the franchisor. When looking for a location, Buffalo Wild Wings provides site
selection assistance and guidance; as well as professional layout, blueprint, design, and construction
document review and analysis. They also provide equipment and supplier lists, and they provide
assistance in obtaining needed licenses (liquor license). They also provide comprehensive pre opening
assistance and a restaurant opening training package. Once the venture begins, they provide ongoing
guidance in marketing, operating, and financing. They also provide scheduled visits from a Franchisee
Consultant, who is able to provide guidance and advice to the franchisee. Finally, they provide further
training for any employees the franchisee may have. The next important aspect is

Synthesis And Characterisation Processes Of Pharmaceutical...
INTRODUCTION: The pharmaceutical industry has long been trying to improve the effectiveness of
certain drugs it would like to introduce and mass produce. The concept behind many of these drugs is
sound; however, they appear to fall short when it comes to some of their chemical properties. These
properties, including solubility, stability, intrinsic dissolution and bioavailability, affect the extent to
which the body can utilize the drug effectively, and it is thus vital that drugs are developed to have a
maximum effect on an individual after administration. This is where pharmaceutical co crystals are the
potential key to advancing drastically the design of drugs by enhancing their bioavailability and
solubility. There has been a growing interest in the design of pharmaceutical co crystals over the past
decade and this is only going to escalate as the focus is shifted to designing, synthesising and
characterising better and more improved crystalline structures. This report aims to examine and
compare several methods in the design, synthesis and characterisation processes of pharmaceutical co
crystals in addition to providing examples of the effectiveness of these co crystals in pharmaceutics.
WHAT ARE PHARMACEUTICAL CO CRYSTALS?
It is important first to define a co crystal, although there has been a large debate on what actually
constitutes a co crystal.1 A co crystal is, in essence, a mixed crystal or a crystal that contains two
different molecules.2 It is a solid,

The Fight Club By Chuck Palahniuk
Koby Gordon Mr. Smith Senior English: Fight Club Essay 8 September 2014 Violence as a Coping
Method In the novel Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, what it means to be alive is examined through
violent underground boxing rings, featured in cities around the world. The story follows an unnamed
narrator, who lives a monotonous yet well off life, and his alter ego, Tyler Durden, a more freethinking
and violent character, as he explores himself and the essence of living through participating in a fight
club. Growing from the narrator s many years living in a healthy and stable life, in which he struggles
to characterize himself as an individual, the alter ego of Tyler Durden embodies the narrator s darkest
desires. As the narrator fades away each night, Tyler Durden takes over his body, early on leading men
to participate in relatively harmless fight clubs to experience pain and masculinity, to later
collaborating with the same men in the much larger and more harmful Project Mayhem, a movement
to assert dominance on the world. Following stringent rules in an effort to keep these organizations
unknown to the outside world, the men partake in violent activities that give them a rush that keeps
them coming back, and a transitory sense of importance that through the escalation of violence, they
try to turn more lasting. Ultimately, the method of coping with real life issues through violence that
offers an only ephemeral feeling of self importance is unsuccessful. Fight club is

Nasa s Space Exploration
When one thinks of space, one is always left with questions because humanity can still not describe it
fully. When attempted, the general public describes it as an area in, which Earth exists and is made up
of solar systems consisting of a sun and planets. But nowadays, space has turned into so much more;
with recent discoveries space can be seen as a living system in which there is a possibility that other
life besides humanity is present. In the past space travel was said to only be able to send drones or
robots past the moon, but with recent advances the transport of humans is closely becoming a fact.
These advances in science are driven by the recent discoveries like the fact that life was once present
on Mars. However some among humanity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the arguments comes from conservative people of various faiths. Their argument follows the
belief that God only created one planet of life, causing any scientific theories related to life outside of
Earth to be rejected, since it would disprove the belief that God created Earth. Another argument is
that the money used to fund NASA s space exploration could be used in a better way. According to
Piers Bizony, I have for some time considered space research a gross waste of money, time and effort
that could be much better applied to the management of our own planet. (9) This argument is
understandable however the fact that global warming, and rainforests depleting is occurring provides
more of an incentive in finding another planet with life. It would allow for a rebirth and have the
world start over, since both of the effects are a caused by humanity s daily lives. A third argument is
that the Earth has not even been fully discovered yet so it makes no sense to explore outside of it.
According to Gary Westfahl In short, the history of our species powerfully suggests that progress will
come from continued stable life on Earth, and that a vast new program of travel into space will lead to
a new period of human stagnation. (11) This argument is true that Earth has still not been discovered,
but Westfahl fails to acknowledge that with the study of Earth like planets we learn more about our
universe and our planet. This allows for the study of two subjects with one planet ultimately leading to
a greater understanding of the

Global Climate And Its Variability
The processes occurring in the upper ocean are important for interpreting the global climate and its
variability. The upper ocean is often referred to as the ocean mixed layer (ML). It is a quasi
homogeneous layer of oceanic tracers regulated by turbulence due to air sea exchanges of heat and
momentum fluxes. The thickness of the ML modulates its heat capacity and controls the evolution of
sea surface temperature (SST), which is important for understanding climate dynamics. Therefore, the
mean state and seasonal cycle of ocean mixed layer depth (MLD) and the relative roles of net heat
flux (NHF), wind stress and freshwater flux on the ML require to be explored over the global ocean.
Insufficient attention has been given to the role of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The annual mean MLD over most open ocean regions (away from sea ice and shallow coastal regions)
follows the heat and wind forcing. The annual mean wind forcing strength appears to be most strongly
related to the annual mean MLD, while the relative seasonal cycle strength of MLD mostly follows
the seasonality in heating. However, there are a few regions in which neither of the atmospheric
forcings seems to match the annual mean or seasonal cycle characteristics of the MLD; indicating that
the relationship is more complex. The analysis, based on the ocean reanalysis and ACCESS KPP
model datasets, suggests that oceanic processes independent of the local atmospheric forcing
contribute to the stratification of the upper ocean and thus the MLD in significant ways. The
relationship between the anomalies of MLD and atmospheric forces tends to become stronger when
the atmospheric forces lead by about one month during the fall and winter. This is consistent with a
larger inertia of the MLD when it is deeper.
The representation of the MLD and its variability related to the local atmospheric forcings in the
CMIP5 models are mostly consistent with the observed. The seasonal variability of MLD is strongly
modulated by the atmospheric heat flux seasonality. This has caused deeper MLDs over a wider
extratropical domain during winter in the multi model mean.
Further, the

They use a specific language to make their viewer believe in their viewpoints. For example, there was
a football game between Umm Salal Qatar and Al Ittihad Saudi Arabia last year in Asian champion
league. After the end of that match, there was a fight between the two sides of the teams. Cameras
show the fight from a height distance, and they didn t zoom in. So nothing was clear for audiences,
who were watching the match on TV, they couldn t see who started the fight, or even what was going
on there. Saudi s sport channel, Al Riadiah, in their late news, mentioned that Qatari players started
the fight. They showed a picture of a Qatari player pushing one of their players and stated, Here we
see how Ahmed (Umm Salal Qatar player) pushes Nasser (Al Ittihad Saudi player), this bad behavior
from Umm Salal player made our player angry and nervous (Rashid, 2009). In the other hand, Qatar s
sport channel, Al Dawri Wa Al Kass, in their afternoon news, mentioned that Saudi players were the
one that started the fight. They interviewed with one of their players to explain what happened on the
pitch after the game. The Qatari player explained, Saudi player, Khalid, started saying bad words to
our player Ahmed which made him nervous and do what he did (Mohammad, 2009).

Agricultural Foreign Investments Abroad During The Gulf...
population witnessed food shortages causing high cereal prices. The food price spike led to the so
called Bread Revolutions resulting in a number of causalities (Nasim, 2012). In this regard, the focus
of this article will be limited to agricultural foreign investments abroad. The Gulf Arab countries
witnessed a blowing up food gap in the year of 1970s due to population growth and higher per capita
income in the wake of the oil price bonanza. To understand the Gulf Countries concern about food
security one needs to take a detailed look at its food import dependence and how it has developed
historically. This food gap and the import dependence that came with it were regarded as a strategic
liability. The Gulf countries are` highly politicized and strategic nature of global food markets. This
nourished an outspoken wish for self sufficiency and reduced reliance on imports (David, 1999).

Theories Of Discovering Periodic Trends
Discovering Periodic Trends Introduction For years, many scientists put together several different lists
of the elements based on theories about the properties of these elements but the first official periodic
table was assembled by Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869. Later, due to modern communication abilities,
scientists modified Mendeleev s periodic table to make it more organized and easier to understand.
The current version was organized in a way that scientists could easily identify trends like density,
melting/boiling points, ionization energy, electronegativity, and atomic mass. Experimental Data on
the properties of elements 1 through 36 were recorded and formatted on an Excel sheet. This data was
converted into a series of graphs in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They learned that the density of an element increase from top to bottom and inward towards the
transitions metals. They also learned that the boiling and melting point trends are similar in pattern
with the density trend. They learned that the ionization energy decreases top to bottom and increases
left to right. They also learned that the electronegativity trend is similar in pattern to the ionization
energy trend except it does not affect any of the noble gases except for Xeon. Lastly, they learned that
the atomic radius increases top to bottom and decreases left to right. This research lab is very reliable
because the sources where the information was gathered was credible and they all agreed with each
other. The information gained from this lab is of high significance because it is fundamental to the
understanding of all chemistry. Of course there were a lot of cases in which there were occasional
hiccups in the general periodic trends. These are due to the specific nature of those elements and it
might be a good idea next time to highlight those outlying values in a different color on the graph and
provide an explanation underneath as to why the highlighted element does not follow the rule of that

The Meat Demand and A Call to Go Vegan
Everybody loves food! Have you ever met somebody who doesn t? But when it comes to the foods we
eat, we don t like to ask questions. When you stop and think about it, most of us don t even consider
where our food comes from, much less how it s made. Meat and dairy products are food staples that
are consumed on a regular basis throughout the world. There are many people out there who have
chosen to live vegetarian lifestyles because they support animal rights and detest the idea of
mercilessly slaughtering animals for food. However, there is a dark secret lurking in the bloody
shadows of the dairy machine, one that the food industry doesn t want you to know. If we could look
beyond the dreamy landscapes and happy cows plastered on every milk carton and cheese block to the
reality of dairy farming, we would be shocked and horrified at what goes into obtaining a glass of
milk. If we really knew what happened on egg farms, we would cringe at the inhumanity of the
process. The truth is, even though you may not eat meat, your consumption of dairy products could
still be driving the animal abusing, commercialized, factory of efficiency and monetization that is the
dairy business a business that is taking living, breathing animals and turning them into simply
expendable resources. The truth is if you want to be one hundred percent certain that you are living
animal friendly, you must commit yourself to a vegan diet.

Notes On On Land And Water By Kyle Dean
Terrestrialization on Land or in Water
By Kyle Dean
Intro.
The movement to land by plants has been a point of great interest for many researchers. The
complexity of the situation is in the characterization of those traits that were most essential to the
viability on land, and whether those traits developed prior to terrestrialization or post terrestrialization.
This complexity stems from the long branch of phylogeny leading to terrestrialization having an
incomplete fossil record due to environmental changes throughout time. The gold standard hypothesis
on terrestrialization introduced by Bower is accepted in the scientific community as the explanation
for terrestrial plant diversification of plant orders and families. Bower s hypothesis articulates, that the
evolution of antithetic alternating life cycles was instrumental in adapting to the terrestrial habitat.
(Harholt et al., 2016) In other words the development of the free living sporophyte and gametophyte
was critical to a plants ability to live on land. This information if taken only to mean the
diversification of land plant orders and families is accepted by most without question, for the
alternating life cycle is imperative to suitability of land plants; however, if Bower intended for his
hypothesis to be inclusive of the primordial terrestrialization then his hypothesis has encountered
some criticism. Stebbins and Hill in 1980 conducted research that concluded with the premise that
unicellular charophytes invaded

Brave New World Vs Reality Essay
Brave New World vs. Reality
In many cases when you read a novel you may find comparisons between the quot;fictional quot;
society and your realistic one. The author may consciously or unconsciously create similarities
between these two worlds. The novelist can foresee the future and write according to this vision. In
Brave New World, Adlous Huxley envisions the future of our society and the dangerous direction it is
headed in.
Brave New World is greatly dependant upon soma, as in our world where prescribed drugs and drug
abuse are prominent. This is evident when Bernard and Lenina return from the Savage Reservation.
Lenina is devastated from her experiences, so decides to take soma. It illustrates how like our world

Living without the drugs seem unimaginable and frightening. If our world does not stop this
dangerous overuse of drugs we will see ourselves evolve into the frightening direction of Brave New
World and will be unable to stop it.
Physical and mental controlling (hypnopaedia) is used to teach moral lessons in Brave New World,
our world uses hypnotism for the same purposes. The incident with Ruben Rabinovich illustrates how
our world is similar to Brave New World. Ruben Rabinovivch was a young boy who fell asleep with
the radio on listening to a professor give a lecture. When he awoke the next morning he could recite
the facts he heard but, he did not know what they meant. This is similar to our world because people
use tapes to help them learn and memorize facts and speeches.
In Brave New World their society is taught moral lessons and slogans by hypnopaedia. For example
quot;a gramme is better than a damn. quot; Today we are forced into believing propaganda and
advertisements. We are bombarded with ads and pressure to buy certain things, or believe what people
tell us. In Brave New World if they do not follow propaganda they are considered abnormal, and are
forced out of society.
When we are young children we are soothed from our crying by music and the voices of our parents.
We are told we are loved and are spoken to. Throughout our lives we are

Pedagogy Of The Oppressed And Richard Wright s The Library...
Paolo Freire s essay Pedagogy of the Oppressed and Richard Wright s The Library Card both center
around the idea of education. In Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Freire elaborates on the contradictory
student teacher relationship in the banking concept of education and the need for consciousness and
communication within the educational system. He suggests students and teachers should engage in a
more active dialogue in which both parties are learning from each other. In this way, the students gain
consciousness of themselves not only as intellectual beings, but also as beings who contain valuable
and vital knowledge to provide to the teacher. Similarly, in The Library Card, Wright becomes
conscious of his humanity after reading books and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this system, knowledge is formed by posing problems of human beings in their relation with the
world that incite critical thinking and thought provoking dialogue between students and teachers
where both parties learn from each other. The students are liberated from oppression and placed at a
level tantamount to the teacher, creating an environment in which the students and the teacher will
only continue to gain more knowledge and truth through dialogue and communication. Freire states,
yet only through communication can human life hold meaning. Transferring that idea to a learning
environment, communication both ways between the student and the teacher is absolutely necessary
for education to mean anything because without communication, there would be no education. In
problem posing education, communication is two sided; therefore, both parties become conscious of
the other as human beings. This allows the expansion of human faculties to be limitless and ever
evolving.
The essential concepts of liberation and oppression that Freire discusses in his essay are reiterated in
The Library Card, a personal narrative by Richard Wright, an African American male. In this story,
Wright discusses his journey of slowly becoming educated and aware of his consciousness and
humanity. Wright states, ...but of feeling something new, of being affected by

From Undoing Gender By Judith Butler
Judith Butler s approach in From Undoing Gender lets the audience see a different side of opinions
regarding gender. Judith s presence and way of speaking lets us look at things in a way we never had
before. She demonstrates her way of thinking, acknowledges other peoples ways of thinking and also
goes outside the box in creating her own definition of undergoing gender. When we look up gender in
the dictionary it states Although it is possible to define gender as sex, indicating that the term can be
used when differentiating male creatures from female ones biologically, the concept of gender, a word
primarily applied to human beings, has additional connotations more rich and more amorphous having
to do with general behavior, social interactions, and most importantly, one s fundamental sense of self.
When I define gender I automatically define it as being a boy and girl or male and female. People
define gender in so many ways, but it is in the way that we think more outside of the box based on
people s opinions, that make us wonder more. Gender is defined in Undoing Gender in an act of
improvising within a scene of constraint, where one that is always within a social context, and never
outside of the ideology. Butler expresses that Undoing Gender expresses an understanding of how
restrictively normative conceptions of sexual and gendered life might be undone. She stresses
throughout the reading that this process of undoing is not something that is negative or

Putin s Power Of Power
It seems that Putin has been able to build up his power in a variety of ways throughout his political
career. Even throughout power struggles, Putin had been able to prevail. What does Putin have to
attribute to his rise in power, was it luck or strategy? Well according to the rhetoric of Gerschewski,
there isn t simply one solid reason or force behind the stability of an autocratic regime. Gerschewski
wrote, Today s autocracies cannot rely (at least in the long term) entirely on their abuse of power in a
strictly hierarchal, pyramid shaped political order as the unconstrained tyrants of the past from whom
all of the power is derived might have done (Gerschewski, 2013, pg. 7). Moreover, Gerschewksi
suggests that autocracies rely on three pillars rather than one sole concept. The three pillars include,
Legitimation, Repression, and Co optation. Within the article he placed emphasis on observing three
processes that take place within and between the pillars in an effort to properly explain the
stabilization processes (Gerschewski, 2013, pg. 12).
The two pillars that seem to be the strongest in the case of Russia s regime, are repression and co
optation. The weakest pillar, hence would be legitimation. This isn t to say that legitimation wasn t or
isn t at play. As had been mentioned previously, the pillars within the stabilization process are built
over time, and include three processes necessary for observation.
Legitimation serves the function of gaining support

Integrated Healthcare Marketing Strategies
Integrated Healthcare Marketing Strategies
Introduction
The creation and execution of promotional and communications strategies are by definition today
multichannel and multimedia in scope. Combining both online and offline forms of media, the best
practices in integrated marketing communications includes digital media that is inherently more
measurable than offline counterparts, with offline media that is more agile from a messaging
standpoint (Finne, Strandvik, 2012). The accuracy and precision of measurement that online
marketing channels and platforms provide, in addition to the more immediate response generated from
programs, is leading to digital media being the majority of integrated marketing communications
spending globally (Reinold, Tropp, 2012). This has significant implications on the ethicacy of
advertising for healthcare products, as customers demand more authenticity and transparency through
these online channels (Bernoff, Li, 2008). The pervasive use of social media is re ordering the balance
of power between customer and marketer roles in the marketplace (Finne, Strandvik, 2012). These are
all factors healthcare marketers need to keep in mind when designing their strategic marketing plans.
Bringing Ethicacy Into Integrated Marketing Plans
For any health related product, the integrated marketing communications strategy needs to first
concentrate on the entire customer experience and be cognizant of their needs while striving for
complete authenticity

David Essay
David, who was destined to be the second king of Israel, destroyed the Philistine giant Goliath with
stone and a sling. Donatello, Verrocchio, Michelangelo, and Bernini each designed a sculpture of
David. However, the sculptures are drastically different from one another. Each one is unique in its
own certain way.
Donatello, whose David was the first life size nude statue since Classical times, struck a balance
between Classicism and the realism by presenting a very real image of an Italian peasant boy in the
form of a Classical nude figure. Although Donatello was inspired by classical figures, he did not
choose a Greek youth in his prime as a model for his David. Instead, he chooses a barely developed
adolescent boy whose arms appeared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Donatello balanced realistic elements with an idealized Classically inspired torso whereas Verrocchio
s goal was absolutely realism in minute details. The sculptures also differ in terms of technique.
Donatello s David is mainly a closed form sculpture. The objects and limbs are centered around an S
curve stance, which balanced his human form. Verrocchio s sculpture is more open. For example, the
bared sword and elbow are sticking out, away from the central core. quot;Donatello s graceful pose
had been replaced in the Verrocchio, by a jaunty contrapposto that enhances David s image of self
confidence quot; (Fichner Rathus 334).
Michelangelo was yet another artist who sculpted David. His reputation as a sculptor was established
when he carved his David at the edge of twenty seven from a single piece of relatively unworkable
marble. Unlike the David s of Donatello and Verrocchio, Michelangelo s David is not shown after
conquering his enemy. Instead, he is portrayed as a quot;most beautiful animal preparing to kill not by
savagery and brute force, but by intellect and skill quot; (Fichner Rathus 345). Cast over his shoulder
is David s sling, and the stone is clutched in his right hand, his veins in chief anticipation of the fight.
Michelangelo s David depicts the ideal youth who has just reached manhood and is capable of great
physical and intellectual feats, which is part of the

Joe s description of an empty Hall of Justice, in Act II, Scene 6, Joe had struggled with the concepts of

the role of the non traditional hero, and Thorin Oakenshield, a strong minded dwarf who represents
the traditional hero. By the end of the story, both characters have established that they re capable of

His failure was a result of poor luck. It s stated on #41 that: ...at any rate, hobbits can move quietly in

situations. When the wood elves had taken the Company hostage, it was Bilbo who snuck in and
evaded the guards notice for over a week (#203), and then freed the dwarves from the dungeon (#208).
His small stature and his ring of invisibility are all factors that contribute to Bilbo s stealth. And of
course, it is Bilbo s ability to lead that was one of his greatest assets. He was not much of a leader at
first, but as we delved deeper, we soon learned that he is indeed worthy of being deemed a leader.
There are two quotes that prove this, found on page 204: ...and they [the dwarves] all trusted Bilbo.
Just what Gandalf had said would happen, you see. Perhaps that was part of his reason for going off
and leaving, and, ...Thorin had taken heart again hearing how the hobbit had rescued his companions
from the spider... Bilbo inspired Thorin to not give up, gained the trust of the dwarves, earned their
respect, and proved his abilities to the mentor, like a true leader. The reason Tolkien had Bilbo

Postmodernism And Its Impact On The Western Of The...
The emergence of postmodernism in the wake of the manifold carnage and destruction left by World
War II (1939 1945), induced a fundamental shift in paradigms of historiography. This is patently
evident when assessing the multi faceted impacts of postmodern critiques on the critical variant of the
Sonderweg master narrative. An assessment of these impacts will be achieved through a close analysis
of three historical works, namely Hans Ulrich Wehler s seminal social history on Imperial Germany
1871 1918 (1973), David Blackbourn and Geoff Eley s neo Marxist The Peculiarities of German
History (1984) and Konrad. H. Jarausch and Michael Geyer s Shattered Past: Reconstructing German
Histories (2002). Postmodernism s impact manifests in these three works by revealing an inherent
tension between the postmodern approach to history and the differing interpretations of the Sonderweg
master narrative. This results in a weakening of the Sonderweg thesis validity as its contribution to the
historiographical debate surrounding the rise of National Socialism in Germany, is constrained by
such critiques and tensions. However, the Sonderweg thesis facilitation of retrospective discussion
through amplification of meaning , emphasises a different facet of historical validity . What prevails
from this analysis, is that the Sonderweg thesis attempt to explain the rise of National Socialism in
Germany; while problematic, has generated prolific historiographical debate and in this respect,

Oppression Of Jim Crow By Richard Wright And Toba Tek Singh
Race and Oppression have been a really interesting topic in this course, this topic has been represent
the most significantly through the two texts The Ethics of living Jim Crow by Richard Wright and
Toba Tek Singh by Sadat Hasan Manto. Both talked about how a power group used oppression to keep
the other down through essentialism, prescription for their civilizing mission and how it effects the
oppressed group. In The Ethics of Jim Crow, essentialism has been shown through how Richard was
mistreated because of his skin color. He could not defend himself agaisnt the white kids in his area,
was not allow to learn skills from his first job, be told be behave a certain way but they can still beat
him up whenever they want, almost got arrested for staying out late near the white neighborhood,..
Based on Richard s appearance, they grouped him with other black people then pushed them to the
margin of society. They then stereotyped him to be uneducated, disrespectful, savage,.. to justify their
wrongful actions toward Richard, his friends and other black people in the text.
In Toba Tek Singh, because of their religion, the Muslisms, Hindus and Sikhs have to leave their
hometown and move to place they have never been before for theirs good . The government used the
difference between religion to justify its action on jailing these people and moving them around. They
drew a random line on the map, called it a border and move people around unconsciously. Since they

Biography Of Stanislavsky
It appears that Stanislavsky was a man with opinions, who was individual in every sense, and in this
respect revolutionary. His ideas and theorems spread across the western world, a more free and
liberated world where there was little censorship in comparison and a people willing to adopt new
beliefs on new ideas and subjects. He overcame a lot of personal assaults, and thus one would imagine
a lot of emotional turmoil, what with his life going from a prosperous utopia at the beginning of his
life to basically imprisonment in the last part of his life. A common theme throughout his life is
censorship, and people frowning upon his work and his own personal endeavors which he must
pleasure himself in chasing from his time as a child, being

Defining The Three Different Ways That You Can Organize...
a. Define the three different ways that you can organize your new business. Given the above facts,
please provide one advantage and one disadvantage with respect to each type of business organization
and then choose a business structure for your new venture; explain why you chose the way you did.
(10 marks)
There are essentially three major types of business organizations:
Sole Proprietorship: A business which involves an individual carrying on business alone, the business
is the sole responsibility of one person, the owner. An advantage of running a business as a sole
proprietor is that the owner has complete control and decision making power over the business. A
disadvantage however is that the sole proprietor is held personally liable ... Show more content on

I choose to start cooperation because it is a separate legal entity, separate from the people who own,
control and manage it; by registering my business as cooperation I will not personally be responsible
for the corporation s debts.
b.Based upon the business organization that you chose, how are you going to raise the funds to finance
the business? Also, please describe what the provider of funds will receive in exchange for these
funds. (10 marks)
Since I have estimated that I will need $1,000,000 to finance my business I have to now think of how I
am going to raise this capital, the different ways to raise capital, would fall under two categories
equity and debt financing. I will begin to sell ownership shares of my business by approaching
investors, I already have a friend who has informed me that she would be interested in my venture and
would be willing to invest $100,000 in my business, I have my family too that has pledged to help me
financially. I can ask them to become equity investors in my business; I could offer them a share in the
ownership of my business. Depending on the success of my company I could agree to issue dividends
to them too. Various governments also give out loans to new businesses, called small business loans to
encourage new

Most of the writing done by myself is boring essay s I am forced to write in order to get a good grade. Though I received mostly A s on my papers it was hard and annoying to write papers. In my history as a writer any subject, assignment, or just writing that I have done that I enjoyed was exciting and fun to write. When composing papers on subjects I am interested in, writing becomes more enjoyable. Growing up, fooling around with writing was something I did for fun and I would write about being in the MLB. I started off by sitting on my twin bed, daydreaming about what it would be like to be a professional baseball player. The Yankees were the team I always dreamed of playing for, pinstripes looked great on me. When I thought of situations I would be in I had to write it down, this led to the beginning of my story. I sat down at my black desk with a pen and a composition notebook and began the create my version of a masterpiece. It felt like steam was coming out of my head because of my thoughts and my hand was moving as fast as wind in a hurricane. Writing this story gave me a rush as if I was actually playing in this game. After finishing my thought, the experience made my writing as enjoyable as actually playing the game. Later, in elementary school, I would write love letters to the cute girls in class. The purpose of this evidence based practice (EBP) project was to educate ED nurses on compassion fatigue (CF) risk factors, causes, and symptoms as well as assist them in its identification among each other and within themselves. Further, the project sought to provide nurses with skills in order to prevent CF. A two hour workshop consisting of a PowerPoint presentation was implemented in a busy emergency department on the coast of NJ. Teaching nurses about compassion fatigue and ways in which to alleviate and prevent it were stressed. Self regulation and self care practices were introduced using interactive activities. Over the next four weeks, emails were sent reiterating self care and self regulatory techniques. A Pretest posttest design used the Professional Quality of Life (ProQOL) measure to determine if burnout and secondary traumatic stress (both components of CF) and compassion satisfaction improved from the workshop. A comparative means analysis showed a decline in CF. Keywords: Compassion fatigue, compassion satisfaction, self regulation, self care, Emergency department nursing. Randomness can take many forms, but one such example is in the sport of soccer. The same two teams could play the same game against each other five times and each game could have a different score with both teams being able to win at least once. There must be a reason for inconsistencies like this. That is randomness and variability. For sure, each team has its own players with their own skills, but when it comes down to it, there s a level of randomness in the sport that can often mean the difference between a team winning or losing. Even generally speaking, the sport has randomness in it that has no hugely perceivable on the outcome of the game, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, in the odd chance that there were no major delays of the game in professional soccer, the total time of the first half may be 44 minutes and 59 seconds and 10 milliseconds and so on. It is highly unlikely that play will commence for exactly 40 minutes, no more, no less. It can also be taken into account that delays are very common in the sport. Say a game time was set at 6:00 p.m., but a rain delay caused it to start at 6:10 instead. Many factors can affect the timing of soccer. Another great example is the fact that at the end of the game the referee allows for make up play. In Major League soccer lost time during played is made up after the 90 minutes had been spent. It is not uncommon to see famous players, like Cristiano Ronaldo, flop on the ground and milk an injury after an opposing player barely bumped them. This causes a major interruption of play and can cost minutes off of the clock. Brawls, streakers , injuries, and weather all affect the time span of a game. In order to make up for what was lost, the referee allots extra time after the 90 minutes has expired. This time is supposed to make up for all of the delays. However, the extra time given almost never truly matches the amount of time lost. Say during the game there was a roughly 5 minute recovery period for an injured player, a 7 minute ... • 10. A Commodity Sign A commodity sign invests symbolic meaning in products or services as a signifier with an image as signified. In recent times, consumer culture is driven by our desire for superfluous wants, causing the production and consumption of commodity signs to become more specialised according to the notion of capital. Capitalism is characterised by economies that are based on open markets and the ethos of individuality over community. French Sociologist Pierre Bourdieu (Distinction 1984) introduced the schema of subcultural capital, which confers status on its owner in the eyes of the relevant beholder (Thorton, 2006: 100). Therefore people have the idea that they can buy subcultural capital, as it is seen as self revealing, in order to impress people or become someone else (Frith, 1996: 5). Thus advertising was developed as a strategy in generating demand in a contemporary consumer culture. Mass marketing has split the unity of signifiers and signified into a language of appearances and images of which we realise as either visible, physical connections or indirect connotations to that which they represent. This essay will be addressing ideologies of consumer fetishism and pseudo individuality through examining the commodity signs found in the mass marketing and advertising of designer cosmetics, particularly Chanel. INTRODUCTION: The pharmaceutical industry has long been trying to improve the effectiveness of certain drugs it would like to introduce and mass produce. The concept behind many of these drugs is sound; however, they appear to fall short when it comes to some of their chemical properties. These properties, including solubility, stability, intrinsic dissolution and bioavailability, affect the extent to which the body can utilize the drug effectively, and it is thus vital that drugs are developed to have a maximum effect on an individual after administration. This is where pharmaceutical co crystals are the potential key to advancing drastically the design of drugs by enhancing their bioavailability and solubility. There has been a growing interest in the design of pharmaceutical co crystals over the past decade and this is only going to escalate as the focus is shifted to designing, synthesising and characterising better and more improved crystalline structures. This report aims to examine and compare several methods in the design, synthesis and characterisation processes of pharmaceutical co crystals in addition to providing examples of the effectiveness of these co crystals in pharmaceutics. WHAT ARE PHARMACEUTICAL CO CRYSTALS? It is important first to define a co crystal, although there has been a large debate on what actually constitutes a co crystal.1 A co crystal is, in essence, a mixed crystal or a crystal that contains two different molecules.2 It is a solid, ... The story follows an unnamed narrator, who lives a monotonous yet well off life, and his alter ego, Tyler Durden, a more freethinking and violent character, as he explores himself and the essence of living through participating in a fight club. Growing from the narrator s many years living in a healthy and stable life, in which he struggles to characterize himself as an individual, the alter ego of Tyler Durden embodies the narrator s darkest desires. As the narrator fades away each night, Tyler Durden takes over his body, early on leading men to participate in relatively harmless fight clubs to experience pain and masculinity, to later collaborating with the same men in the much larger and more harmful Project Mayhem, a movement to assert dominance on the world. Following stringent rules in an effort to keep these organizations unknown to the outside world, the men partake in violent activities that give them a rush that keeps them coming back, and a transitory sense of importance that through the escalation of violence, they try to turn more lasting. Ultimately, the method of coping with real life issues through violence that offers an only ephemeral feeling of self importance is unsuccessful. Fight club is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Global Climate And Its Variability The processes occurring in the upper ocean are important for interpreting the global climate and its variability. The upper ocean is often referred to as the ocean mixed layer (ML). It is a quasi homogeneous layer of oceanic tracers regulated by turbulence due to air sea exchanges of heat and momentum fluxes. The thickness of the ML modulates its heat capacity and controls the evolution of sea surface temperature (SST), which is important for understanding climate dynamics. Therefore, the mean state and seasonal cycle of ocean mixed layer depth (MLD) and the relative roles of net heat flux (NHF), wind stress and freshwater flux on the ML require to be explored over the global ocean. Insufficient attention has been given to the role of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The annual mean MLD over most open ocean regions (away from sea ice and shallow coastal regions) follows the heat and wind forcing. The annual mean wind forcing strength appears to be most strongly related to the annual mean MLD, while the relative seasonal cycle strength of MLD mostly follows the seasonality in heating. However, there are a few regions in which neither of the atmospheric forcings seems to match the annual mean or seasonal cycle characteristics of the MLD; indicating that the relationship is more complex. The analysis, based on the ocean reanalysis and ACCESS KPP model datasets, suggests that oceanic processes independent of the local atmospheric forcing contribute to the stratification of the upper ocean and thus the MLD in significant ways. The relationship between the anomalies of MLD and atmospheric forces tends to become stronger when the atmospheric forces lead by about one month during the fall and winter. This is consistent with a larger inertia of the MLD when it is deeper. The representation of the MLD and its variability related to the local atmospheric forcings in the CMIP5 models are mostly consistent with the observed. The seasonal variability of MLD is strongly modulated by the atmospheric heat flux seasonality. This has caused deeper MLDs over a wider extratropical domain during winter in the multi model mean. Theories Of Discovering Periodic Trends Discovering Periodic Trends Introduction For years, many scientists put together several different lists of the elements based on theories about the properties of these elements but the first official periodic table was assembled by Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869. Later, due to modern communication abilities, scientists modified Mendeleev s periodic table to make it more organized and easier to understand. The current version was organized in a way that scientists could easily identify trends like density, melting/boiling points, ionization energy, electronegativity, and atomic mass. Experimental Data on the properties of elements 1 through 36 were recorded and formatted on an Excel sheet. This data was converted into a series of graphs in ... When you stop and think about it, most of us don t even consider where our food comes from, much less how it s made. Meat and dairy products are food staples that are consumed on a regular basis throughout the world. There are many people out there who have chosen to live vegetarian lifestyles because they support animal rights and detest the idea of mercilessly slaughtering animals for food. However, there is a dark secret lurking in the bloody shadows of the dairy machine, one that the food industry doesn t want you to know. If we could look beyond the dreamy landscapes and happy cows plastered on every milk carton and cheese block to the reality of dairy farming, we would be shocked and horrified at what goes into obtaining a glass of milk. If we really knew what happened on egg farms, we would cringe at the inhumanity of the process. The truth is, even though you may not eat meat, your consumption of dairy products could still be driving the animal abusing, commercialized, factory of efficiency and monetization that is the dairy business a business that is taking living, breathing animals and turning them into simply expendable resources. The complexity of the situation is in the characterization of those traits that were most essential to the viability on land, and whether those traits developed prior to terrestrialization or post terrestrialization. This complexity stems from the long branch of phylogeny leading to terrestrialization having an incomplete fossil record due to environmental changes throughout time. The gold standard hypothesis on terrestrialization introduced by Bower is accepted in the scientific community as the explanation for terrestrial plant diversification of plant orders and families. Bower s hypothesis articulates, that the evolution of antithetic alternating life cycles was instrumental in adapting to the terrestrial habitat. (Harholt et al., 2016) In other words the development of the free living sporophyte and gametophyte was critical to a plants ability to live on land. This information if taken only to mean the diversification of land plant orders and families is accepted by most without question, for the alternating life cycle is imperative to suitability of land plants; however, if Bower intended for his hypothesis to be inclusive of the primordial terrestrialization then his hypothesis has encountered some criticism. In Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Freire elaborates on the contradictory student teacher relationship in the banking concept of education and the need for consciousness and communication within the educational system. He suggests students and teachers should engage in a more active dialogue in which both parties are learning from each other. In this way, the students gain consciousness of themselves not only as intellectual beings, but also as beings who contain valuable and vital knowledge to provide to the teacher. In this system, knowledge is formed by posing problems of human beings in their relation with the world that incite critical thinking and thought provoking dialogue between students and teachers where both parties learn from each other. The students are liberated from oppression and placed at a level tantamount to the teacher, creating an environment in which the students and the teacher will only continue to gain more knowledge and truth through dialogue and communication. Freire states, yet only through communication can human life hold meaning. Transferring that idea to a learning environment, communication both ways between the student and the teacher is absolutely necessary for education to mean anything because without communication, there would be no education. In problem posing education, communication is two sided; therefore, both parties become conscious of the other as human beings. This allows the expansion of human faculties to be limitless and ever evolving. Judith s presence and way of speaking lets us look at things in a way we never had before. She demonstrates her way of thinking, acknowledges other peoples ways of thinking and also goes outside the box in creating her own definition of undergoing gender. When we look up gender in the dictionary it states Although it is possible to define gender as sex, indicating that the term can be used when differentiating male creatures from female ones biologically, the concept of gender, a word primarily applied to human beings, has additional connotations more rich and more amorphous having to do with general behavior, social interactions, and most importantly, one s fundamental sense of self. When I define gender I automatically define it as being a boy and girl or male and female. People define gender in so many ways, but it is in the way that we think more outside of the box based on people s opinions, that make us wonder more. Gender is defined in Undoing Gender in an act of improvising within a scene of constraint, where one that is always within a social context, and never outside of the ideology. Even throughout power struggles, Putin had been able to prevail. What does Putin have to attribute to his rise in power, was it luck or strategy? Well according to the rhetoric of Gerschewski, there isn t simply one solid reason or force behind the stability of an autocratic regime. Gerschewski wrote, Today s autocracies cannot rely (at least in the long term) entirely on their abuse of power in a strictly hierarchal, pyramid shaped political order as the unconstrained tyrants of the past from whom all of the power is derived might have done (Gerschewski, 2013, pg. 7). Moreover, Gerschewksi suggests that autocracies rely on three pillars rather than one sole concept. The three pillars include, Legitimation, Repression, and Co optation. Within the article he placed emphasis on observing three processes that take place within and between the pillars in an effort to properly explain the stabilization processes (Gerschewski, 2013, pg. 12). The two pillars that seem to be the strongest in the case of Russia s regime, are repression and co optation. The weakest pillar, hence would be legitimation. This isn t to say that legitimation wasn t or isn t at play. As had been mentioned previously, the pillars within the stabilization process are built over time, and include three processes necessary for observation. Donatello, whose David was the first life size nude statue since Classical times, struck a balance between Classicism and the realism by presenting a very real image of an Italian peasant boy in the form of a Classical nude figure. • 41. Postmodernism And Its Impact On The Western Of The... The emergence of postmodernism in the wake of the manifold carnage and destruction left by World War II (1939 1945), induced a fundamental shift in paradigms of historiography. This is patently evident when assessing the multi faceted impacts of postmodern critiques on the critical variant of the Sonderweg master narrative. An assessment of these impacts will be achieved through a close analysis of three historical works, namely Hans Ulrich Wehler s seminal social history on Imperial Germany 1871 1918 (1973), David Blackbourn and Geoff Eley s neo Marxist The Peculiarities of German History (1984) and Konrad. H. Jarausch and Michael Geyer s Shattered Past: Reconstructing German Histories (2002). Postmodernism s impact manifests in these three works by revealing an inherent tension between the postmodern approach to history and the differing interpretations of the Sonderweg master narrative. This results in a weakening of the Sonderweg thesis validity as its contribution to the historiographical debate surrounding the rise of National Socialism in Germany, is constrained by such critiques and tensions. However, the Sonderweg thesis facilitation of retrospective discussion through amplification of meaning , emphasises a different facet of historical validity . What prevails from this analysis, is that the Sonderweg thesis attempt to explain the rise of National Socialism in Germany; while problematic, has generated prolific historiographical debate and in this respect, ...
