Question one: the differences between the structure of animal and plant cells
In general both animal cells and plant cells have the similar structures, however they do have some
differences.
Plant cells have a cell wall, this strengthens the cell,it also gives it shape and protects it from infection.
Plant cells also have chloroplasts which absorb light energy,this is vital for photosynthesis. Plant cell
also have a vacuole, however unlike the ones found in animal cells they are much larger. Vacuoles
store food and nutrients essential for the plants survival it may also contain cell sap, this keeps the cell
large and swollen with water. They may even store waste products for the cell. This can prevent the
cell from contamination.(1)
Another difference is the position of the nucleus in the cells. In a plant cell it s positioned on the outer
edges of the cell this is because the vacuole takes place in the middle of the cell. In a nucleus there is
the majority of the cell s. It also contain genetic material and DNA for the cell. (2)
In animal cells the general position of the nucleus is in the middle of the cell. Plant cells don t have a
certain shape however they do have a structure that resembles a rectangle shape, this is due to the rigid
cell wall they have.(10)
Animal cells on the other hand do not have a distinct cell wall, they have an irregular shape. This is

Santiago is an old fisherman from Cuba. He s a man who doesn t have much, except for a strong will.
From the things he does to the things that he says, he is perceived, by the means of literary analysis, as
a Christ figure. For one thing, Santiago is a fisherman. This is the clearest biblical allusion in the
entire novel, and it comes straight from the title itself. His endurance throughout the book also reflects
the spirit of faith that Christ had, giving us the impression that the old man might have some sort of
unspoken bond with the fish, like Christ with his strong love for humanity. The old man struggles and
even succeeds in his attempt to catch the fish, only to see it ripped and torn away from him. This is
parallel to the story of Christ, who had to bear suffering and betrayal until his death. In many senses,
Santiago s endeavor symbolizes the labor of Christ described in the Gospels. The Ichthys has its origin
from the well known miracle about how Christ fed five thousand with five small loaves and two fish .
The religious symbolism behind the Jesus Fish is reiterated a multitude of times throughout the Bible.
Several of Jesus disciples are fisherman, and He even goes as far as to tell them that he will make
them fishers of men . Further ahead, Jesus is offered grilled fish after having been resurrected. The
significance of fish in the Bible is a large one, and it s no different in The Old Man and the Sea. Most

The movie Coach Carter, is about a coach who decides to take on the responsibility of coaching a
basketball team for his former high school, Richmond. Upon entering the position, he finds a team that
lacks motivation, respect, or discipline. As his first act of coach, he presents all his players with
contracts requiring them to meet certain requirements to play on his team. In retaliation, many of his
players begin to resent him, in one instance a player even tries to punch him. Despite the hostility,
Coach Carter sticks to his rules, and enforces discipline throughout the season. His players learn to

In one instance when his own son is late to practice, many of the players believe that he will be let off
easy. However, Carter enforces the punishment of suicides to his own son without hesitation. This
really proved that he was going to be consistent across the team and wasn t going to play favorites.
Whenever, a punishment was dealt it was clear that Carter wasn t punishing the person but was
punishing the behavior. For example, despite players having left the gym many times, he never
believed them to be bad people and would always give them the chance to earn their way back if they

During the late 1960 s and the early 70 s, America suffered from extreme national inflation. Prices of
goods dramatically increased while money decreased in value. Meanwhile, employment rates soared

This paper seeks to use the Flixborough disaster as a case study to point out the need for systems
thinking in industrial activities. There have been many industrial disasters but one that stands out in its
category of Temporary Modifications is the Flixborough disaster. Using a couple of systems thinking
tools described in Anderson and Johnson s (1997) book; Systems Thinking Basics, we outline all the
events leading to the disaster in comparison to the possible outcome if systems thinking had been
